I had paid off some items that had appeared on a credit report received a few months ago. I wanted to make sure that the payments were reflected on my credit report. I contacted Equifax online and began filling out the required windows, in order to get my report. I was annoyed because they were advertising the fact that you could get a free credit report. This was absolutely false. The way that it is set up, in order to receive a credit report, one of their products has to be purchased. You are told that you have 30 days in which you can opt out, but there is no one to call to opt out.

After signing up for a product that I really did not want, I tried to access my information using the password and username, it did not work (I'm pretty good on the computer, so I was surprised). In one of the windows, there was a number that I could call for help. When I called in, the only way that I could get help was to agree to a 3-point product, that I really did not want. I felt as if I'd been set up. I only agreed to purchase the 3-point product, after I made the person assure me I could opt out after 30 days, so that I could go forward. Here's what really got my goat, I was told by the person that I spoke to, that my password would be sent to my e-mail account.

When I checked the e-mail account there was a form that had no password, but looked like a script that a person from Equifax would read from. When I tried to call the 800 number (numerous times) to find out what was going on, I received a bunch of prompts, but could not get a live person to speak to. None of the prompts could help me with my problem. I got so frustrated that I e-mailed Equifax, letting them know I wanted to cancel my order, since I had not gotten what I paid for. I never received a response from them.

For the past 3 years, I have really been diligent with paying my bills on time in an effort to bring my credit score up. Since I have "Scorewatch" to monitor my credit, I noticed that there was an account from SNET that was in collection from 2004 in the amount of $14. I went back through my records and found that it was paid so I went ahead and disputed it. When I did so, EQUIFAX reported it as a paid charge-off as of the month of the dispute, which was August of 2008. This in turn caused my credit score to drop 23 points immediately. I was able to get a hold of the creditor who was now AT&T (after the acquisition of SNET) and found out that it was considered a charge-off because I still owed FIVE CENTS on the account. I paid the five cents. They then faxed me a letter stating that this account was PAID IN FULL as of March 3, 2005.

After countless disputes and investigations submitted to EQUIFAX, they have to date still not rectified their reporting of the account as being a PAID/CHARGE-OFF as of March 2005. They are STILL reporting this as a charge-off as of August 2008. I have submitted the same dispute five or six times now with the same result. They've asked me to submit proof from the creditor, which I have, and still refuse to remove the erroneous information from my account. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. I have threatened them with legal action, which if this continues will no longer be a threat. It would be a shame to have to resort to a lawsuit OVER A NICKEL FROM FOUR YEARS AGO, but it is the principle of the matter. This nickel can affect me for tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars in the long run. That is a price I am not willing to pay over EQUIFAX'S negligence. I think that it is time that these credit reporting bureaus face up to how their mistakes are hugely affecting the general public. They should be accountable for their complicated dispute/investigation system, which makes it next to impossible for people to fix credit errors on their reports.

Equifax makes it so difficult to obtain a free credit report. I was denied credit and by law should be able to obtain a report. After spending a half hour on their site, I finally figured out how to request the report. Then the system says it can't process it online and that I have to call. When I call and listened to 5-10 minutes of options, I never heard one for my situation.

Finally, I decided to get my free annual credit reports. I was able to get the reports from the two other agencies very easily. Yet again, Equifax refused to provide my report. I was finally directed to a link that requires me to complete a form and mail it in with two forms of ID and a utility bill or something crazy like that. If Equifax continues to be able to deny or approve credit they should be forced to cooperate with the public. It seems all they want is their $7.95 or whatever for the reports. The other two reporting bureaus set a good example and should be commended for their accessibility and ease of use.

I attempted to get my free credit report from Equifax as per the FACT Act using the web site annualcreditreport.com. Once on the Equifax site it asks me to log in with a password and username. To get a password and username you have to pay $7.95. There are no ways around this that can be seen by a reasonable person. The customer service numbers they offer do not give a reasonable solution as I called multiple times without getting any further solving my issue. My issue? I'm not paying $7.95 for my free report.

I purchased a $14.95 credit report from Equifax online consumer credit reporting agency. To my regret, the company has been playing in my account 20 times without my permission withdrawing $14.95 then refunding it right back. I have spoke to several supervisors, Jill **, Rachel, Dominic and Mike. I have also spoke with several CSRs concerning this matter. Each time I have been told that my information has been deleted from their records and I will no longer see any transactions to my account. Each time within 48 hours there are two to three more withdrawals along with two to three refunds. The point, like I have tried to explain, is not that my account is being withdrawn upon and not refunded because they are putting it right back. The problem is that they will not stop.

When I spoke to each supervisor, I was told that there is no manager that they can let me talk to. They will have a manager call me back within 30 min. or that they will escalate the call to the manager and they will call me back. Or the latest one from Mike - I will escalate the call but I cannot guarantee that they will call you back. I have request that they cease and desist. I am still told they will. To my Despair, they have continued to "play" in my account without my permission.

It is a great concern that if they are not able to solve this issue, how can they be reporting the correct information on my credit report. I am in need of any help that your company can give on how to stop this from happening. You would think you could trust a credit reporting agency but you can't. I was also told that I do not even know how to read my own bank statement and that they are not a fault. It has to be someone else doing this. Have they sold my information?

Equifax attached several false reports to my file. I disputed those reports and after 30 days, they sent an email stating that I could view the results on a website they provided. When I attempted to view the site, I was denied access. I was informed I could go to another website or call but there is no option for accessing dispute results. Further, there is no provision to talk to a person on the telephone answering system maze.

The View/Print report button takes me to a logon screen, but I have no logon and there is not any kind of new registration link available anywhere without buying a product from them. This is not supposed to be the way it works. By law, I am entitled to a free report. I've spent 2 hours searching around the website, trying to call the 800#s (it's all automated on 3 different numbers). As a billable contractor, that's $300 in damages.

They said that unless the purchase was an accident, I would not receive my money back. I said that I had not accessed the account and wanted my money back. They said it's company policy to not refund money on one time internet purchases. I ask to talk to a manager. They said all their managers were in a company meeting. Equifax denied my request, I am told and that's all I know about the reason why. To address the issue I was directed to get a copy of the report by the fed. loan origination center, but I was locked out from my "free" online annual report by Equifax for another unknown reason. I sat for over an hour on the phone waiting for their next available operator. I have NO reason to believe they will respond if I send their form by mail and certainly will be out of time.

Earlier this year, my husband and I paid to place a security freeze on our credit reports at all 3 credit reporting agencies. When we requested our annual free copy of the reports by phone on the automated ordering system, Transunion and Experian complied without incident. Equifax wrote back saying we needed to supply our 10 digit PIN in writing and gave an address to which the information had to be sent. This we did.

We then received letters stating that the only way to order credit reports was through the automated phone service. Assuming it may have been a glitch that had since been sorted out, we again ordered the Equifax reports by phone. We have again received the same letter, saying that our file is blocked from unauthorized disclosure and we cannot process your request without your 10 digit personal identification number (PIN)?.

There is apparently no way out of this loop - except presumably to pay to lift the credit freeze and then pay again to reinstate it. Clearly we are not unauthorized recipients of our own credit reports. Equifax has established a system whereby it is impossible to obtain the free annual copy of credit report they are legally required to provide. We are entitled to place a freeze on our credit reports and are paying for the privilege, which would not have been necessary if the credit reporting agencies did not disclose our information as freely as they have in the past. We should not have to pay for the freeze to be lifted and then reinstated in order to see our own reports. Having frozen the reports, it is ridiculous to deny us access to our own credit reports. We have filed a complaint with the FTC. Everyone else should do the same. It is ludicrous that this company has so much power and there is no recourse against these types of practices.

I purchased the TrueCredit 3-in-1 report online recently.

I was able to dispute a couple things with Experian, but not with Equifax. I couldn't find a way to dispute Equifax through the TrueCredit website, so I finally went to the Equifax website and paid again so I could dispute some accounts. Somehow, I ordered the Credit Monitoring, which I did not want.

Now, I will have to call them to cancel this order or they will bill my card after the trial period. It seems I had to do agree to this to get the initial credit report.

It will take up to 30 days to get the results of the disputed accounts.

Equifax does not update credit history and there are lots of inaccuracies. My report has 3 accounts listed twice. The first set for the 3 accounts lists past due balances with the last report date of June 2004 and showing the accounts Open. The second set shows the accounts Terminated and in Bankruptcy Collection with the last report date of May 2005 showing the accounts closed. They were never in bankruptcy. These 3 business accounts belonged to my ex-husband and were his to pay in the divorce agreement.

Equifax states that accounts involved in a divorce decree do not supersede the original contract with the creditor and that I must contact the source requesting they release me from "my" obligation. However, both TransUnion and Experian removed these accounts at my request. I did not contact the source.

There are more errors in the Equifax report, but I was unable to dispute them because they are limited to how many accounts you can dispute at one time. Also, if you type more than 100 words with your explanation, the entire explanation will be deleted and you have to start over.

My concern is why can 2 out of 3 Credit Reporting agencies be more updated than Equifax. TransUnion is 100% accurate regarding the balances on my credit report and my credit score with them is 721. This score includes 4 derogatory accounts from my Chapter 13 bankruptcy, which will be deleted from my report on Sept. 2009.

Equifax shows 10 derogatory accounts with a score of 652.

On the TrueCredit report, my score with TransUnion is shown as 682, but when I went directly to TransUnion's site, it is 721. I don't understand that. Is this what potential creditors see when they request your report?

I would like to know why Equifax is not as consumer friendly as TransUnion and Experian? Why are the guidelines so different for each?

I have been sending corrections to Equifax off and on for the last 6 years trying to have them correct issues that appear on my credit report. They are the only credit agency that I have to constantly fight with to get my information right on my credit report. They also are usually the one that scores me the worst every time. Even when it is public record or I send them in paperwork to prove that, my information is valid, they still never do it right the first or second time. It is always months before they get it right.

Than sometimes I have found that when I go back to check and see if they have corrected it months later, they have changed it back to a derrogatory status again. I am beginning to feel like someone has flagged my file as being a trouble file and no one wants to deal with it so they don't!! I feel like now this is personal.

-Continuously low credit scores. Normally atleast 30-50 points lower than the other two reporting agencies. -Suffering higher than necessary interest due to Equifax offsetting my credit score and making the average score (when added with the other two reporting agencies),become lower. -Longer than necessary time needed to fix the problem, even when I present paperwork to confirm my statements. -Having to repeatly ask them to fix my file for the same issues more than twice.

I have an error on my credit report and Equifax has made it literally impossible to contact them. I was unable to file a dispute on line because there is a 'freeze' on my credit report. They requested I send in numerous proof of my identity even though I provided all the information requested. Their email link DOES NOT WORK! The phone number provided was a constant busy! You have to be more than persistent to contact this agency.

I finally was able to order a paper copy of my credit report which should arrive in about 15 days. Their practices are totally unacceptable and what recourse does a consumer have. The account I had with JC Penney has been closed since 2002 because the first bill I received from them included late charges. After many months of trying to resolve their billing error I closed the account. I never paid a late charge or a late payment on this account. I no longer do busines with JC Penney.

Last year my car insurance company sent me a form along with my renewal explaining I was being surcharged due to my credit report. That was when I first found out about the practices of these credit reporting agencies. I feel the consumer is being held captive. I know the information is incorrect and I have other accounts that have always been in good standing.

Me and my husband have no mortgage on our home which we paid off years ago and almost zero debt because we use our credit cards carefully. We value our credit and feel this has affected us for no good reason. We are both over 65 and this has caused us undo stress over something that is being reported incorrectly. As I mentioned I closed the account with JC Penney because of their billing errors. I had only charged a little over $30 which turned out to be a huge mistake for all the aggravation this has caused us. Please help us resolve this!

I subscribe to Equifax-Gold, to help montior and protect my personal credit. On 8/15/08, Equifax made an entry into my credit file, indicating that CREDCO had made a credit inquiry to my account. Also on 8/15/08, Equifax reported to me via e-mail notification (as the result of my Equifax-Gold membership) that a credit inquiry had been made to my account. On 8/18/08, I telephoned CREDCO, and was able to verify that CREDCO had made no such inquiry to my credit record. CREDCO also indicated to me, during the course of my telephone call with them, that "Equifax had erroneously made false entries to numerous other consumer credit reports, and that they (CREDCO) had been receiving numerous calls from Equifax consumers."

I have experienced a total of eight (8) telephone calls with Equifax to get to the bottom of this. The only "bottom" that I have gotten to so far is that Equifax: 1)Made a totally bogus entry to both my credit report and to the records that they provide to me to monitor my credit with Equifax; 2) Equifax does not appear to have a clue. I have found no one at Equifax who knows, or who admits to know, how such bogus entries were made to my credit records, as well as the credit records of "numerous" other Equifax consumers, between 8/15/08 and 8/18/08.

    3) Equifax's problems appear to come from the top down. Diane M., VP of Operations at Equifax, has indicated to me that she does not have any details as to how the Equifax system made the totally bogus entries, or what Equifax did, specifically, to correct the problem and to ensure that the problem would never happen again. Ms. M. does, however, express to me her "total confidence" that Equifax got to the bottom of the system problem, and that " I should have trust that Equifax has taken sufficient steps to ensure that the problems do not recurr." Obviously, no sane person could have total trust based on some blanket assurance from such a person who: a) profeses to have no details about the problem; b) professes to have details as to how the problem was "fixed"; and c) is in a position within Equifax which should have both required and allowed her to know the details.

    4) Before speaking with Ms. M., I also spoke with Trish G. (404) 885- (twice), and to three separate clerks and supervisory personnel from the 1 (800) number on the equifax.com website. I have since spoken one more time to Trish G. Ms. G. is actually not within the division of Equifax which caused (and like failed to correct) the system problem, but she is charged with "trying to make customers happy, if possible." I have also spoken with Tim K., Vice President, Public Relations at Equifax (404) 885-, who established my contact with Ms. G.. As far as I can tell, Ms. G. has, thus far, been the only person within Equifax who has made any effort at all in attempting to address the problem.

    5) Equifax is stonewalling the problem. In general, a majority (more than 50%) of the people at Equifax with whom I have spoken have "seemingly" attempted to be "helpful." However, all those who have been both "seemingly helpful" AND who have confessed to "knowing about the 'technical' problem," also cliam to know little or nothing about what the "technical" problem was, but "claim" that they have been told that the "technical problem" has been corrected. Only Dianne M., VP-Operations, actually manages the people at Equifax who should have found the "technical" problem, corrected it, and then made system changes which would have prevented the "technical" problem from recurring. To my astonishment, however, Ms. M. knows, or at least claims to know, even less about the "technical" problem than the other people at Equifax with whom I have spoken...after all, she should have been the top Equifax manager who would have overseen the effort to detect, correct, and then prevent the "technical problem."

    5) Equifax is stonewalling the problem from near the top, perhaps all the way to the top...we will see. My next telephone call is to be to Mr. Steve E., President of Equifax North american Personal Solutions, Ms. M.'s boss. Please take a look at this, and see if you can help. Equifax appears, to me at least, to be a fairly demented member of the national financial community, at least for this moment and for this time being.

Show my Transunion report to my banker and he agreed it was as good as he had seen except I didn't owe much money nor never had any High balances. But I had never been late on anything yet my score is only 587. He said it should have been closer to 750. I normally pay cash for as much as I can. We have at least $50,000.00 in equity in our home. I am about to purchase a new car and I'm afraid this will hurt my interest rate. I am think about suing under the defamation statute. Any advice?

Turned down for a loan from CIT/Dell for a new computer. I won;t buy a Dell ever now! Higher interest rates. Embarrassment!

I immediately contacted Equifax to see why; aftermany calls, many excuses, and several supervisors later, they recentlydiscover I have a Security freeze on my credit report that was mistakenlyplaced and due to some glitch they have been unable to remove it.

I have never applied for any mortgage nor have I any records through the 3 major credit agencies on any such mortgages.

When I attempt to contact CSC it shows that they are a division of Equifax. My Equifax shows no mortgage I just requested it again to make sure though I have all my credit reports from the past 4 years. When I go to the CSC website it askes me to enter my zipcode , then it states that the state that I live in is handled by Equifax and then it redirects me to Equifax. Well, then why is it that CSC and Equifax have differing info on me? According to Equifax I have no mortgage account according to CSC I am fact am the proud owner of a fricken house and am making payments! I have written to the consumer reporting agency in Washington, Equifax and CSC.

My email ( not snail mail) letter to CSC was responded to by directing me to Equifax. I called Equifax they tell me there is not a record of any mortgage on my credit file. I have the credit file in my hand I can see that. I ask if there could be a mix up they tell me CSC is an affiliate and the info from what they are looking at should match up. They tell me to call CSC's number and provide me with a number for CSC. I call the number an automated voice gives me the address I recently wrote a real letter to (not snail mail) directed to CSC in Texas.

Doesn't CSC have to provide me with the consumer file they have on me whether they or Equifax legally own it ESPECIALLY since there appears to be identity fraud on CSCS side and not on Equifax. Please Help Me correct my CSC file which no one will even let me access just directs me to Equifax which has different info on me even though both are affiliates. How do I get my CSC info?

I guess I misunderstood the 3-in-1 concept because I (obviously mistakenly) assumed that meant I would only have to fill out my information once and then I would get the reports from the 3 agencies. Instead, after filling out all of my information, I was directed to each of the individual credit agencies where I had to AGAIN fill out all of my information.

There was a link to see in which states the free report rule didn't apply. Isn't that false -- my understanding was that we are all entitled to one FREE report per year per company. It was very misleading.

My experience with EQUIFAX is a virtually CARBON COPY of that listed below from "Misty of Forney TX (06/17/08)". I also went online at AnnualCreditReport.com to obtain all 3 free credit reports due to being denied credit. I did this three times, one for EACH of the credit-rating bureaus, spacing my requests several months apart. The Experian site was trouble-free & let me view and print my Report quickly and without issues; TransUnion had some problems due to the fact that they had errors in my file which prevented me from answering the "challenge questions" successfully, but THEY provide a visible Customer Service # and after such a call, I received GOOD help on how proceed (they MAILED me my report in 10 days of so & sent me TWO letters on how to fully resolve the errors) with the report.

Equifax, unfortunately, appears to be like to dealing with a "Black Hole" - get too close & you're 'sucked in', unless you agree to PAY for their 'Membership', etc., and THIS is a "FREE" report? And like 'Misty', after step 3 [of 3] - which included successfully answering their "challenge questions", I was Prompted to "View and Print my Online File", but sure enough, it takes you to the "Member Login" screen and ask you to login. I was NEVER asked to create an account during this process; but apparently, you NEED to be a member (but you have to atually purchase a product {$$} to become a member - only THEN can you get the 'unpublished' Customer Service phone number once you CAN log in.) This is thing is a legal fiasco and totally obscene!

I also spent well over an hour trying to obtain my free credit report, but was told "Please Note Our records indicate that you recieved your annual free Equifax Credit Report on 07/03/2008"; further instructions told me that I could still recieve the report, but NOW had to download a [PDF] request form, which I would have to MAIL [' = wait LONGER'] to get the report. UNACCEPTABLE! It should be no more difficult to request & receive such a report from Equifax, than it was from the other two agencies (TransUnion, as I said, was only an issue because I could not get past the Challenge Questions, due to THEIR errors in MY file - but they were very good about resolving it !).

Equifax is real MESS though! I am attempting to reconcile some credit and employment issues, as well as potential loan problems which can/will effect my daughter's ability to attend COLLEGE this Fall at West Virginia University (I probably will have a very difficult time borrowing to help with this financing). When I worked at Washington Radiology someone stole my Birth Certificate from my wallet and I am trying to see who may have used my name to purchase something that has been reported to a Credit Collection Agency in Greenville SC. I noticed at the beginning of March that equifax began reporting a student loan eight times on my report. I had forgotten to make the first payment when my deferment period expired when I completed school. I made the payment after receviing a notice and have been on time every since. I realize this past due will be on my credit for seven years and this was three years ago. The problem is that I had a total of four loans that covered 2 semesters. Two subsidized and two unsubsidized.

Like I said this is three years old which is why I was stunned to see the information go from correctly reporting four times to reporting eight times. So for the 15000 I owe it loks like I owe 30000 and was late on eight loans. I only have one payment and as far as the creditor is concerned one account but Equifax requires creditors to break the account down to the lowest level to look as bad as possible. I have written Equifax and the original creditor to have this corrected and I keep getting letters telling me it is correct. I have even provided copies of the original loan agreement and have not received satisfaction.

When I asked for the proof they used in their findings, I was just ignored. I am the end of my rope. Like others who have complained, Transunion and Experian have the information correct and therefore my score is 100 points higher. I have reported this to the FTC and have not received a response so far. What am I suppose to do?

This is detrimental to my career. I work for a financial services company and because I work with money I cannot have this in my credit. I also am planning on buying a new house in a few months but I don't have faith this will be corrected in time. I also was denied for a car loan because of this information

My credit union uses Equifax soley and as such has denied me on loan applications despite what the other 2 credit reporting agencies report.

After reading all of the complaints, isnt there something to be done regarding the poor customer response and unfair business practices?

Trying to keep your credit file safe and correct has turn into a full time job. What alot of people are not aware of is that Equifax system is merging files w/other people account. This error happen because of the way their system filters the informations sent to them. When you call them and ask them to take the time and look at the information sent to them by the creditor. They will tell you that NO ONE in the office can see that information and what is on my file is correct.

When I told the Supervisor that I have spoke to the creditor and was advised they do not have my information and its a error on Equifax end. She told me they are lying and the only way they could get the information was from them. Also, I offered to do a 3-way call w/the creditor and them. She told me that she would disconnect the line. I thought they were suppose to help a person correct a errors on their account. I guess not. Oh and this is the craziest thing. On my file I have my first, middle and last name listed. Why did the supervisor ask me if I ever went by First and Last Name. I asked her was she dumb for asking me the question. I am not the only person this is happening too. Can we sue them ???

However after reading some of the complaints contained herein I feel that maybe the mortaage is nonexistent and perhaps is a glitch in the program for Equifax which after reading these complaints should be corrected! I have recently discovered a number of glaring errors in my credit report that is on file with Equifax. I checked them against the three agencies, and they were the only one out of three with the wrong data. For one, my name was mispelled, I do not have a middle iniital in my name. Even this one mistake can mix you up with someone else.

Two, They have me listed at two residences in florida in 2006 and 2007 that I have never lived in. I have been in New York for 35 years.

And three, they have medical information as negative information against me that is in collection, that does not belong to me. I find it very difficult to fathom how these agencies cannot be forced to update their information and directly contact the consumer yearly to make sure all their information is correct. This is literally a case of the wolves watching the hen house. They do not have our best interest at heart.

This has resulted in a very low Fico score, which undoubtedly being caused by the collections. The other agenices, Experian and Transunion, who have accurate info, have me at a much fairer and much higher score. If anyone were to see my equifax score, i would be considered a very high risk person with a poor credit history.

I have disputed an item on my credit several times in the past three years knowing that the company did not have any personal information or signed documents to validate that the debt was mine or if it was accurate. Equifax claims to have verified the debt simply by giving the creditor all of my personal information including my SSN, DOB, Previous Address, and Current Address without regard to my personal information and privacy. The creditor should have had to verify the information was correct prior to receiving just as the consumer does prior to gaining access to their report.

Due to this item being incorrectly reported on my credit I am being denied a loan on an investment property and loosing $2,500.00 in earnest money paid when the contract was signed. I have also been charged higher interest rates on several accounts and denied credit from other finance companies. I am beginging to invest in real estate and will be forced to pay an above average interest rate on any properties i obtain because of it!! The damages of this can be devistating.

I used Annual Credit Report online to get my free report. I decided to do one at a time so I chose Equifax first. So I believe it redirects me to Equifax where I can get my report from them. Well when it printed it out some of the accounts where duplicates, triplets, or quadruplets. They had the same information, same amount, same open date, etc. They were correct but it just seemed odd that they were being listed more than once. And in the credit summary part it actually totaled to the duplicate or triplet amount (ex. I have one account for 5K. it reported that I had total 3 accounts and the balance was 15k). Just seemed odd.

So I used the Dispute phone number they give you and I called Equifax. I told them my report seemed odd and it was showing same accounts more than once. I gave them one of the accounts that showed up three times. Mr. Linard, Lynard, Leonard (not sure which one) said that his up-to-the-day report only showed the account once. I asked how come the report I was shown four days ago online had it duplicated several times. According to him that report came from the Central Source. He asked me what I used to get my report. I told him I went through annualcreditreport.com and it redirected me to their site. He kept stating that they pulled it from the Central Source but that my report with them was correct, no duplicates. And get this, right away he stated that I could sign up for a credit monitoring program from them to make sure my credit file stays up to date.

At this point Im still trying to figure out why the report I received online had duplicates, I thought I was redirected and sent straight to them to get the report straight from them, is that not how it works? I still dont know what he meant by Central Source. So I asked him about all my other accounts and verified that there were no duplicates. Well there were no duplicates on his report but of course he said that instead of paying 10 dollars to get my report to verify no duplicates I could check it myself for 30 days free if I signed up for the monitoring program at $15 a month. I said no thanks I dont want a program from them. I just felt cheated because I had just received my free copy and it wasnt totally correct.

Now he said I had to pay $10 to see his latest copy. Ridiculous. Are they resorting to some kind of scheme to get people to sign up for their monitoring program. How low can they go. They should be ashamed. I wonder how many people are calling in and actually signing up. And I wonder who the Central Source is. Does the redirect not work the way I think it does. From what I have heard, Im never signing up for their programs and Im informing everyone I know.

A review of all three reports determined that they all had essentually the same information. i have a perfect payment record and excellent credit to income ratio. To get to actually talk to someone in customer service required that I purchase one of their products.

In my case it was $15.95 for my credit score and several benefits including access to customer care. After a brief discussion of my questions and concerns, the customer care representative admitted that she had no idea why my score would be 100 points less if all information was equal but recommended the purchase of another product to ensure that I was advised immediately of future changes in my credit score. It is long overdue for the federal government to take a serious look at the credit reporting industry and make changes to protect consumers from compaines like EQUIFAX.

As a consequence solely of the Equifax report with FICO score, I have had 4 credit cards seek to raise my maximum interest rate and a refinance loan was denied. I have spent numerous hours finding the number to these creditors and trying to figure out what happened. I was in the process of making a huge investment and this now has delayed it because Equifax will not correct it sooner than 45 days.

I'm a computer programmer and know how this works. They should Always match first & last name, date of birth, and SSN before adding something to a report. If I wrote a program that put an employee's pay check into someone's account and the company told you it would take 45 days to correct before getting your money, how would that employee react? Same goes with a credit score. Since so much is reliable on this score, Equifax should be held responsible for their mistakes. I have a credit report from May 2007 and these accounts were not on that report, and they were opened prior to 2007, so that tells you that Equifax had a computer glitch and just moved someone's else bad debt to my report.

I decided to order my free annual credit report that supposedly comes from all 3 reporters, and Experian and Trans Union actually sent me the reports; our friend Equifax was looking forward to assisting me, but alas, the information [I] provided as proof of [my] identity does not match [my] information currently on file. Imagine that.

Being naive, I started running through the little maze that Equifax constructed--I sent them a copy of my driver's license and a W-2 form (A copy of one item in EACH of the categories below)! I sent this, as directed, with a copy of their letter to the address they directed it be sent to. After a while Equifax sent me back an inane paragraph of a letter saying they received my request for a copy of my free credit report, however, for proper attention, you must send your request to the Annual Credit Report Request Service on the Web, they admonished me. Still not quite getting it, I played their game on their web site for a while; it doesn't take long, though, to realize that the impenetrable wall they have erected to keep you from talking to, or even e-mailing with, a person, is no small trick of the trade--it's part of a very clever and diabolical culture with the payoff huge and the punishments taken.

I don't know yet if Bank of America will succeed in raising my APR based on false information from Equifax. They say they received my rejection of new terms, but we'll see. Whatever this false information is may be is costing me in ways I don't even know--yet.

However, if you pay a bill off shouldn't that show up right away? They put opened accounts on the report immediately. Why does it take so long to show an account being paid? I am trying to refinance my mortgage and I have paid off some credit cards, so then tell me why my score dropped? I did not open any new account. Why does Transunion and Experian show much higher scores for me and Equifax is 100 points less? This does not make sense. When I call and ask them, they just keep putting me off to say there is nothing they can do and that is just the way it is. This is the WORST reporting agency I have ever dealt with!

As every year, I downloaded my annual credit report from the 3 agencies. When I attempted to access my file online from Equifax, I got a message saying that internet delivery was not available. The site gave me 3 possible reasons, one of which was that there may have been a fraud alert entered on my file. That gave me a lot of concern, and I attempted to contact Equifax. But I had no luck - without a confirmation number I could not speak to anybody. All I could do was mail-in my request, which was a hassle, because I had to send copies of my social security card and utility bills. When the report arrived I could see nothing on it that would have caused a problem with my accessing the report on line - ie. there was no security freeze, fraud alert, etc. With a confirmation number now in hand, I called one of the representatives. He could offer no explanation for the problem. I asked him for the name of Equifax's regulator, so I could make a formal complaint. I was told that that information was confidential, and he could not disclose it! I said I wanted to complain about the standard of service from Equifax, and asked to whom I should direct my complaint. Nothing was forthcoming. Internal legal counsel? No success. I was given a toll-free number to call, in order to speak to web solutions department. Well, I have been on hold for 30 minutes, and even if I get through I am not hopeful that my issue will be resolved.

Being notified that my credit file could not be accessed because of a potential fraud alert, caused me significant concern and stress. This was made the worse because I could not speak to a representative without a confirmation number. I had to wait for 10 days while Equifax prepared the report and sent it to me in the mail. If there had been a security freeze on my file, or an active fraud alert, it could have affected my credit standing, and potentially denied me access to credit.

(To the man from GA who was saying he had a release letter about the 1994 taxes that he couldn't get a mortgage--you can sue Equifax under the Fair credit Reporting act for a misreport on many things, but thats one of the key ones. I would contact Equifax and let them know you will be filing suit if they don't correct it. It helps to let them know your or an attorney's name to put a sting in your stinger.) THAT IS ILLEGAL. I will be doing the same if this affects my employment decision in any way.

Getting my score apparently would be another $15. I then tried to contact them about getting a refund, twice by e-mail and once by phone, and never got a reply or a chance to speak with a person. I only got to hear the same recording at least 5 times, and I wasted most of my cell phone's minutes doing so. It may only be $14.95 to some people, but they seem to be doing this sort of thing far too often. I am also on disability, so $14.95 isn't something I can simply throw away.

Well, today I found out that they had put a freeze on my account without ever notifying me or providing me the pin number to unfreeze my account. Only found out when I tried to apply for credit. To make things worse, you can't even contact them. They provide no phone number to contact them. All other numbers are recordings only. How can such a company have so much power over us and can't be contacted. What is the government doing about this. I am so upset that this is allowed to happen. I will contact my congressman/senator today and the state attorney to file complaints.

In my recent attempts to finance a home I have found that my credit score from Equifax is approximately 125 points lower than the other two reporting agencies. Logically this indicates a discrepency or dare I say mistake by Equifax. I subsequently went to their web site and searched for a phone number to call to ask questions and was unsuccessful. It would seem that the only way to gain access is to give them money for a credit report so that I can then do all the leg work to fix their mistake. This means that I give them money so that I can then do their job for them at no cost.

It would appear that their supposed mistakes are extremely profitable for them. An unfortunate coincidence that I'm sure they don't take advantage of. If nothing else there should be communication between the three agencies to validate each other.

My credit score average was 708 as apposed to approximately 750. This apparently equates to an interest rate hike of .5%. Extra interest I now get to pay.

I have few collection items, which were inherited to me because of my previous bad marriage. Since these were the joint accounts and I was the primary accounts, I had to pay all these accounts in full. By law these items and the accounts as well should be deleted from my credit report after seven years. This seven year period depends how these credit beaurue companies count this time. It should have a start date and after seven years there should be a end date.

But in my case even though the accounts are fully paid, the creditors keep informing these credit beaure companies and the start date keep becoming the most recent information date. I have no connection with these creditors any more and I do not use there credit any more and my start date should have started long time ago and these items should be taken off from my credit report long time ago, but since the creditors keep informing these credit agencies, the start date never starts actully and these items never go off from my credit report and I have to suffer for no fault of mine. I tried to call the Equifax so that I can talk to some human voice, but there all the automated voice sytem and I can never fine a Equifax phone number where I can talk to some human being. I do not know what to do.

On 8/11/2005 I checked my credit report with Equifax and there was nothing on it. By nothing I mean NO THING! Of all 3 agencies Equifax was reporting the lowest score by over 100 pts. However, I got busy disputing an item that wasn't mine on my Transunion credit report that I just forgot about it. However, now I am trying to refinance my home and Equifax has the very item I disputed with Transunion last year on my credit report! I need to refinance now but they want me to write to them and request a copy of my report and then wait for my report before I can write to them again to dispute the item. They won't let me dispute the item online by using the credit report I paid for that my mortgage lender is using to set my rate. Apparently I have to have my own confirmation number.

This is costing me a lot of time and money and I fully intend to see this thing through with an attorney when this is all over with. I am 50 years old and this is my first house. I've lived in it for 2 years and now I may love it because I can not afford my house payment because of the high rates I qualify for due to my credit score. I should have excellent credit scores except for the duplicate entries which makes it look like I'm overextended, and the 2 erroneous negative accounts that have just now appeared even though they date back to 2000. This is so irresponsible! I think they should be put on time out for a very long time.

According to FICO Equifax has a Verizon Wireless account open under my name, that belonged to my ex husband, and was charged-off in a bankruptcy of mine in 2004. This mistake has been lowering my credit score significantly! I am trying to buy a house for my family, and because Equifax cannot seem to fix THEIR mistake I am having a hard time getting a loan now. My score has dropped 31 points in one month! When I talk to Equifax (which was 4 times on 6/5/06) they blame the mistake on FICO, FICO says it isn't possible because all they do is pull there information directly from Equifax.

Equifax tells me that they've had it under bankruptcy but they haven't because I pulled my credit on 5/26/06 and the Verizon account was on the report as open. Equifax won't do a thing about the mistake and they don't blink at ruining someone's credit, in turn someon'e financial life. I have two big companies pointing their long fingers at eachother and neither taking responsiblity and more importantly neither caring about the consumer.

My credit score has lowered 31 points in 5 weeks. I went from having good enough credit to buy a house to no possible way of buying one without insanely high interest....all due to this stupid mistake.

Last month, I received a letter from my mortgage company that customer information in their possession was lost and my personal information could be compromised. They recommended that I put a fraud alert on my credit accounts. I tried to put a 90 day credit alert on my account (which I had successfully done online last year) using the phone number on the Equifax website and I was denied three times. I called the Customer Service number at (1-866-640-2273) and, after waiting on hold for 30 minutes, spoke to Curtis (x31592). I told him I wanted the credit alert on my account. I gave him the information requested (SSN, Address, etc.) as well as telling him I was very disappointed with Equirax Customer Service.

He forwarded me to a Customer Service manager. She told me the fraud alert could not be put on my account because of a discrepancy and that I would have to mail in information for it to be done. I told her I was not going to mail anything because I was able to put the fraud alert on my account many times last year without doing such. She then hung up on me.

I have been trying to get equifax to remove a security freeze that is on my information. I requested the freeze 10 years ago. I have not had any problems until about 8 months ago when I started getting turned down for simple credit requests. So I called to cancel the freeze and the machines I talked to were not cooperative. I then wrote them. They wrote me back a form letter telling me that I needed to give them the 10-digit code that they supposedly furnished to me 10 years earlier. I’ve since written them explaining that I have no code and to, by all means, cancel the freeze. I’ve just received from them the same form letter with the same request of the all powerful 10 digit code.

I was denied credit because equifax was not listing any current accounts but only the old negative ones. I tried accessing their website to dispute but it was not working. I finally did dispute and was told it was corrected. I was recently deinied credit again because they did NOT remove the tiems they indicated would be removed.

I have been locked out of my account, and, can no longer access it thru the internet. They sent me an email stating that someone has been trying to get into my account, and if it was me, then call the number. I called the number, only you never speak to a live representative... I've tried for two days now, and have spent well over 3 hours on the phone waiting. I never get a response from sending email either.

They force you into using their so called "products" by making it impossible to update your account except thru one of their products. Otherwise, after disputing a charge, they send you information asking for all your credit card account numbers, copies of your drivers license, etc... and then, after sending that information in, they claim they don't get it, and the whole process starts over.
