Total automated system failure. Spent over an hour today repeating the same answers to the same questions over and over and over again across TWO calls and got absolutely nowhere. On a third call, after 25 more minutes, somehow managed to get a human who agreed with me about how hopeless and screwed up the system is. And WE got nowhere because one of 5 steps to verify my identity involved him sending me a link that wouldn't open. This is a multi billion dollar company that clearly has NO interest in their constituents. Sound familiar? Welcome to the future folks.

I have an account with this company. I was unable to sign in to freeze my credit after a health organization was hacked and I was advised to secure a freeze through all 3 credit reporting agencies because my info was compromised. I couldn't sign in although I know that I was using the correct info on my account. I called and the employee told me that I needed to send in copies of my ss card, drivers license, birth certificate and other government id. I did so and have been advised that my info was incorrect on my report/complaint. How can it be incorrect when I submitted the documents?
I suppose that I will have to file suit against them morons to get any reasonable action and looking over all of these complaints there should be a class action suit filed. Considering this company's incompetence I think that most companies offering credit will not use these people as a reference. At present I still do not have access to my account. The stonewalling from these people is unbelievable and consumer protection people should do something other than compile complaint reports.

No please don't sign up with this company.. They have harass my credit card over 5 dollars.. I canceled my card because of the overly charging my card.. I called them today to cancel everything, after being on the phone for 30 minutes and talking to a supervisor they still will try to charge my card for 5 dollars.. In Minnesota it's nothing to sue and then they can pay for court fees and for 5 dollars!! They are the new serial charging company that will charge your card until they get their 5 dollars.. This is crazy.

Equifax is a big scam. Their customer service is horrible. They don't have a cancel button on their website. You can sign up online and setup your payment yet you cannot unsubscirbe until you call customer service that will take you an hour. They have been withdrawing money from my account without sending me any email notification. No invoices, no reminders, nothing! Scam!!!

I’m trying to simply unfreeze my credit for 24 hours and they can’t possibly make it any more difficult. The website doesn’t work. The page keeps freezing and reloading. Then it locked me out completely and told me to call. You can’t get any customer service support. It asks you to press a number to confirm different credit accounts and THAT DOES NOT WORK EITHER. I messaged them on Facebook and they say they will get back in 7-10 days and directed me to the same goddamn website and phone number I just told them DOES NOT WORK.

I have been using Equifax monitoring off and on... This last experience with customer service was terrible. It was easy buying the product..but canceling the product after more than 2 yrs having the product..they gave me hard time... They told me I have to declare my identity... Asked many ridiculous security questions...and also questions of my son's school loan under my name... I think they just wanted to keep me on the product...getting the auto payments. I called 3x before I could get off the product.. They sent me a link to take a picture of my drivers license and took my facial picture. I even started thinking they're fraud. All over $19.99 auto payments... They're taking off my account monthly. Equifax has changed. I called them... before October payment due date... They still went ahead to deduct October payment.... I will not use them again.

I am unable to freeze my credit report with Equifax. They keep saying they can't verify me. I easily was able to do it with Transunion and Experian. The customer representative kept repeating herself to me like a broken telephone. I was so disgusted and hang up.

They are very slow at updating credit reports and you must write to these people many times and they are not going to answer the phones and you can use the application but that does not mean your services will be any better.

Equifax is blindly messing and ruining the credit score of people without asking and knowing proper facts. These creditors are fabricating and manipulating the fake charges and sending to the equifax. The Equifax company intentionally ruining the credit history of the person without checking the facts.

If you want to get in contact with Customer Service it can be impossible. I understand it is cheaper to do everything through a computer but this is ridiculous. Have spent over an hour to trying to speak with a human. I have a time sensitive issue and can't get them to answer the phone. They keep trying to make me use their automated system. I am extremely disappointed with them.

I registered Equifax because my information was compromised through medical breach. I tried contacting Equifax. What I did get was the runaround. The automated feature did not understand even when I typed in the answer. No matter what number I dialed, I got the same result. I could not get a real person for customer service to save my life. The automated feature would say I do not understand and then it would jump back to something else. It was a few times where it says OK bye. It was a stressful situation when I finally got through to speak to real person. I was done. Cancel subscription. All the lady can say was, "I am sorry."

Equifax has to be the worst out of all 3 bureaus. It is difficult to speak to an agent. My online account I can not get access to and that is when I have to call and be on hold for over 1hr and a half until I finally get to speak to an agent. They have no patience with you on the line and mind you I am the one that waited over an 1hr to speak to the agent. For some reason my online account will not work. They sent a link to reset the password and I have done so 3x and still will not WORK!!!! Pls someone make it make sense to me because this is absolutely ridiculous! I have had enoughhhhhhhh with them. Why are they still in business?!?!? Gosh I need someone to advise me on what to do because I can’t keep calling and being on hold this long to speak to someone to tell me all is fine when it isn’t. And why is it the LAST one to update your information….It is horrible and they need to do better.

I'm not surprised to see all 1 star for Equifax. The online way of cancellation would have saved my last 6 months of unused product. At least an email while charging my account would have alerted me to stop the payments

The worst of the worst. Account locked, wait on hold 1/2 hour, they say it is fixed, hang up, no fixed. A horrible company where if I have my identity stolen, it is due to their complete incompetence.

The wait times are insane. I have been on hold for over an hour. I signed up for the Equifax Core Credit, and it was automatically canceled. I had to call because it was canceled in error. It was an absolute nightmare dealing with this company.

How is it possible that we are forced to rely on such an incompetent company for something as crucial as our personal credit information? I've been trying to unfreeze my credit for the last four hours, and the experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. The login system doesn’t work, and when I try to resolve the issue by calling the provided number, I’m met with an endless loop of an unresponsive automated system. It’s as if no one at Equifax is actually capable of offering any real assistance. This company shouldn’t be trusted with our personal credit information. It's mind-boggling that a company with such a critical role can be so poorly managed and utterly ineffective. Nothing moves, nothing works—Equifax is hands down the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Avoid them if you can, because the frustration simply isn’t worth it.

What an incompetent team? I will not say all, since I have not worked with each rep. And I will not add the support before the team. Since, they are not supportive or professional. The rep continued to call me a sir instead of mam. Then the supervisor did the same and actually laughed. This team is obviously located outside of the US. It's obvious. Why would you outsource? We need a support team in America. This is where our credit is pulled. The reps know nothing about customer service. HORRIBLE, HORIBBLE and HORRIBLE more than one million times. Then, the wait times are more than an hour. This is a waste of time.
I am trying to get an internal lock off of my account. And if your systems were stronger, this would not be in place. My account was hacked during the Equifax breach. Therefore, they offered a lock, in which they seem incompetent to remove. This is the third week with the same disgusting pattern. Simple. Unlock the account. So sad. Just close down.

Like the other 98% of reviews, Equifax, should be put out of business by regulators. Their "online" services that would allow me to restore a freeze on my account does not work. You can call the telephone number they provide for agent assistance and no one ever answers --don't bother thinking surely someone will pick up. They won't! Their system cannot verify my home address, since we moved over 12 months ago. What a terrible example of a "business".

On 8/15/2024 I attempted to call Equifax to help me access my online account. The online account says there is no account affiliated with my email- I try creating another one and it says "an account already exists with this email"... After jumping through exhausting robot hoops providing my personal info to literally a robot, and after being on hold for 2 hours 17 minutes, they finally sent me to their IT dept. The IT dept said the issue would be fixed within an hour and all should be OK. Nope it was not and I sent an email to the customer svc complaint dept and a week later it still is "not" ok. I get an email from Equifax UK saying I have contacted the wrong Equifax and to click a link to the correct location {?} --- no I did not click the link. Instead I am now on hold going on my 2nd hour trying to simply get into my account.
It's very scary to think bad guys on the dark web have easier access to my account than I do. I saw their CEO on the news [Mark Begor] saying the importance of freezing your account[s]. Try calling his office. Equifax lists a dozen phone numbers to call, send you to robotic questioning and once they finally do answer the phone, you get sent to the wrong people anyway. Man, I just want to access my file. I will contact the same news station at this point and see if they can help since they literally just interviewed Mr. Begor. This inability to contact Equifax is horrific and scary.

I decided to put a freeze on my credit reports for security reasons. While setting up an Equifax account I got the dreaded "Call Customer Service" message. For a service that has so much control over our lives, and one we have no choice over, I thought they would have a reasonable call center capability. What a train wreck. You are forced to interact with an automated call system that is falling apart. So many questions to get through and every time it started listing options it would cut immediately to "I don't understand your answer" before it had even listed the options. All this just to get on the wait list for a real human. And that's all you get. A wait. 30 minutes and counting. I can only imagine what they are like to deal with if you have a credit emergency. And their technology is so poor it's no surprise that they had a data breach. Given their unrequested role in our lives shouldn't there be government controls on their competence to serve?

Extremely bureaucratic and inefficient. I am not sure how or why these companies have the right to monitor our credit to begin with, but this is an extremely difficult company to work with. When I call, they verify and verify and verify - more than any other government or financial organization, including my social security number - which I think they are not supposed to do.

After 2017, I have an answer on my file as well as after covid someone used my social to gain access to loans. So I've placed an alert on my social and they sent me an email alert today someone was viewing my credit. So when I signed in to look it stated I had to call in. So I called in. After the first call tried selling me something and placing me on hold after asking for a supervisor who can handle this, I was placed on hold for over 10 minutes. X2 Called back in, same dance. I will be forwarding a copy to the appropriate authorities as well.

Needless to say I was not able to freeze my account. I will need to mail in information and who knows how long it will take. HORRIBLE all around!

Why Equifax is even a company is beyond me. They receive old information and rather than research a person's file to see what the status is, they just drop your FICO score. The call I placed to Equifax (that obviously went overseas) was a huge waste of time and effort, all the rep did was place a DISPUTE on my report to correct old information that had been corrected over a year ago then went on and on about trying to sell me some sort of membership in a very inept company. All Equifax had to do was open my file and actually look and compare the info they received and what the status was on that item. Rather than support a person, they just drop their FICO. Horrible practice, horrible company.

I checked my credit today (7-13-2024) and it dropped 15 points because my credit usage went up by $104. My problem with that is that when my balance was reduced by $2000 my credit only went up 20 points. So you’re telling me that a $104 usage increase is worse than a $2000 decrease. Equifax is a joke and I told them that on the phone when I called asking why my credit went down when I started a dispute. They said that shouldn’t happen but it told them to look and sure enough it was down. Of course, they said it didn’t have nothing to do with the dispute but couldn’t tell me any other reason. In my opinion, I don’t know why anyone or any financial institution would use or rely on Equifax for anything. Their reporting is so far off from Experian and TransUnion, it’s not even close and neither of them have the swing in credit ratings for such small amounts but hardly any comparably for large amounts paid. They’re a complete and utter joke.

I'd prefer to not give them one star, but I am left with no choice. (You have to give them something). I was somewhat excited to get some ID protection and also the ability to check my credit rating. Happy to pay for services. The free credit check failed, as did the new password... still interested... So I rang 138332 option 2 and was promised human contact. Unfortunately, after offering me 6 noncontact options that did not suit, the line terminated...several times. Maybe it's an OK service but such a bad start well, it's not the risk. Nor the time.
I had heard of a company before that does a great job (Sentry I think it was), but they were not taking new customers. It's depressing that our new IT revolution has seemingly added to difficulties for the common man (and less paper). Now I learn A4 paper use is up 4 times... and I'm wasting way too much time hanging on the phone for help that just is not there, and on sites that are dysfunctional or not operational. There are a few good sites of course, so it can be done, and a few with numbers where you can talk to an **, and they are worth commending.

I moved from Canada to New Zealand in December of 2019. Before leaving I called Equifax to cancel my account. I noticed I was still being charged early 2020 and made several attempts to call but couldn’t ever get through to them from abroad. I started sending emails to the support team to cancel my account, with zero response back. This company knowingly took my money despite the fact I repeatedly asked for the account to be cancelled and has scammed me out of over $1200. This company has countless reviews online showing a pattern of incompetence and an unwillingness to have a straightforward and easy way to cancel their subscription-based product.

Contacted Equifax because my step son got fraud alerts from Chase. On my first call they were more concerned with signing him up with their monthly subscription than helping him get to the bottom of the inquiries on the report and removing them. He paid for the subscription and asked to have the fraudulent data removed. It has not been removed. The fraudulent address on his account is listed as his current address even after verifying his identity multiple times, Even the so-called supervisors (Especially Bella) was extremely unhelpful. After wasting hours on the phone with their terrible call center we are still no closer to getting the inquiries removed from the account. For the love of god Equifax please get a competent call center staff.

Then even after I bought the service, still did not act on my request! Just awful company and a bunch of liars!
