Equifax has got to be the worst credit reporting agency. Horrible customer service, no sense of responsibility in removing incorrect information or reporting correct information. Why we allow a company outside of the US to handle sensitive information and hold us captive with credit scores is unbelievable.

Many mistakes and fraud on my account. It took very long to correct this. Over 4-5 months of constantly submitting dispute requests and they did not handle this in a timely manner. They should have relationship managers, that can take on this work and complete it within a couple days for their customers.

I am sadly disappointed after dealing with frustrating and unhelpful customer service at this company. After several calls on several days and having to hold on each time and then authenticate my ID card and my face, I still cannot get into my account which is the reason why I called in the first place. Instead of seeking solutions they're trying to blame my laptop for my not being able to get into my account. On my last call the representative promised that they would address the situation and follow up and call me back and of course no one did and I am done with the company.
Updated review: Sept. 5, 2025
Despite their poor communication, once they received the specific things they were looking for, they processed the dispute very quickly.
Original Review: Aug. 31, 2025
Updated on 09/12/2025: After submitting all the required documents, I thought maybe Equifax can perform accordingly if all documents are submitted as they want. However, they removed one mistake and left another due to an incorrect account number from a third party. I got the third party to correct the account number. I then submitted THE EXACT SAME documents that was previously accepted with the corrected account number for the secondary mistake. The result: I got another email saying missing documents. I called and the person just said that I can submit a new dispute and they will add a note. I'm applying of for a mortgage and this massive delay is affected me negatively.
Original Review: I had a dispute open that had all documents that they said to upload. A couple days later I get an email saying that they did not accept the documents and closed my case. I called asking what happened. The guy said that it seems I provided all documents and that he would escalate my dispute to a special case and that I should receive in email. I never got an email. I called back a couple days later, and it sounded like I was talking to an outsourced lady from another country with a hard to understand accent.
The new person said there's no special case, my case is simply closed. Luckily she told me what new document they wanted which wasn't even on the list of required documents, wants a second ID, and sent me an email with the new ticket. She sent it to an incorrect email address and luckily I made sure to verify that my email was spelled correctly which it was not. I'm just shocked that this is the experience from such an important company that handles people's financial information and has serious consequences on people's lives.

Holy hell this is horrible. The more up you get with supervisors, the ruder and more unhelpful the service. Somehow unable to provide tracking for a physical credit report, and unable to understand why customers are unable to login and access their credit report. Each person I spoke to offered me different information and solutions and told me their supervisor would tell me the same thing. Each time the supervisor presented me with completely different information which also didn't work. The top supervisor was the rudest of them all. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

What a nightmare. Trial for 4.99 is not worth it. They say you can cancel on their website but the cancellation button is greyed out so you have to call. 30 minutes, on hold multiple times, and I won't even know if it worked until the next billing cycle. The representative is in a crowded noisy room and the language barrier doesn't help.

The whole system that Equifax uses is flawed, someone can register a loan against your credit without Equifax knowing it's really valid. Equifax cannot do anything to remove the fake registration...what a bunch of idiots. Then they try and sell you the other stupid items they offer...stupid people!

I refuse to buy anything from companies who uses Equifax as credit. And I tell companies this when I refuse their product. Seems ridiculous when I'm 24 points away from excellent with transunion and barely a good rating with equifax. Equifax deleted all my good accts. I've had an R1 rating for 40 years and it all disappeared except a late payment and 1 derogatory item. All my good credit is gone. Except recent transactions. It took a long time for me to send my disputes to update equifax for recent transactions and then they deleted all my past, like I didn't exist. I refuse tl and boycott any companies that use equifax.

I have tried numerous times to cancel my service. Each time I call them (**) their site is down and cannot they cancel my service. They ask me to login to cancel, but I cannot login. I have attempted numerous password resets, but I still cannot access my account. This is a total SCAM. People please be careful. Do not trust this company. Not only have they had a major data breach in the past, but they will not let you cancel your service or help you to cancel. I believe an investigation into this company’s practices is warranted and possibly mother class action lawsuit is needed. Absolutely unacceptable way to run a business trusted with personal information.

I signed up for Equifax in April for a rental credit report and also added my wife. I cancelled both accounts over the phone in May and was told twice that no more charges would be made. Still, my wife was charged $36.70 the next month. When I called again, they admitted the error but refused a refund and didn’t let me speak to a manager. Terrible support, unclear policies, and no accountability. I will be escalating this to Consumer Protection Alberta and BBB. Very poor experience. Avoid!

They are not up to date with my address for three years. I have tried to correct it yet still old address. I pay my credit card off every month, and never carry a balance yet for 4 months they have it as only paying $550 off my balance which has been paid in full 3 times already.. No help with a complaint. That sunk my score 35 pts. and it's their fault. Someone should come up with, or do away with this way of doing credit as in my case and I am sure with others, one screw up on THEIR side and you pay the price.

Equifax Credit Monitoring has been a nightmare. I’ve been locked out of my account for over two months, and despite calling more than 20 times, I’ve gotten absolutely nowhere. Every single time, customer service gives me the same useless line: “It went to IT.” That’s it. No updates. No resolution. No accountability. Let’s be clear—this issue supposedly “went to IT” 20 calls ago. And yet, I still can’t access my account. Meanwhile, Equifax continues to charge me for a service I can’t use. No refund. No apology. Just a broken system and a customer service team that seems trained to deflect, not help. This isn’t just poor service—it’s disrespectful. Equifax is supposed to help protect my credit, but how can I trust a company that can’t even manage basic account access or communicate with its own IT department? Avoid this service at all costs. If you value your time, money, or sanity, look elsewhere.

I'm unable to view or manage my Equifax credit freeze online. When I login I get a message, "We are temporarily unable to retrieve the status of your security freeze. Please try again later." I've tried multiple times over the past week. I called customer service 4 days ago and they kicked the problem up to IT. Consumers can't speak to IT, but I was told I would get an email from them in a couple of days. Hasn't happened yet.

Equifax has a problem. Years ago I had their service without any issues, but for the past 6 months I have been trying to set up a new password. I have talked to their customer service and can NEVER seem to get the issue resolved. They ask endless questions about my past credit history, where I lived, old phone numbers, etc, but their information seems to be really out of date. I think they pretend they have up to date information but in reality they do not. It should be this hard to verify my identity.

On 6/29/25, my computer stopped working properly, I finally got it fixed and tried to lift a freeze from Equifax on my account and I could not log in. I went through their verification process by taking a selfie and uploading my driver's license and that did not work. On 6/30/25, I contacted them again and did the same thing with them over the phone. Once again, they could not verify my identity even with having my driver's license and selfie. Now, the only way I can get this fixed is to mail a letter to them with ONCE AGAIN a copy of my Driver's license. This company is the worst credit bureau I've ever dealt with! They DO NOT HELP YOU! Problem is they really don't care! They should all be fired and the bureau dissolved!

They signed up for a $40/month plan to separate my credit file with my spouse. After charging $40/month for 4 months, finally they separated our credit files. There was no option to unsubscribe online, so I had to contact support. The live chat told me cancellation is only possible by phone. When I called, the agent asked for all the info to verify my identity, they refused to do so as my wife wasn't with me that time. I said I just wanted to cancel my subscription. This company is very frustrating and looting all the money from the customers based on the subscription plans and they don't cancel the subscriptions!

Array API Provider for Equifax: A Broken System Masked as a Solution. In the competitive world of credit reporting and financial data APIs, reliability, support, and transparency are non-negotiable. Unfortunately, Array—the current API provider for Equifax—is rapidly gaining a reputation for being the worst in the industry.
A Fractured Platform. Array presents itself as a gateway to Equifax’s powerful credit data systems. In theory, it should empower businesses to access consumer credit data reliably and efficiently. In reality, the platform is riddled with bugs, beta-stage tools, and broken promises. One of the most alarming issues is that users are often abruptly kicked out of the system, losing access to mission-critical data with no explanation or warning. Many businesses have reported being locked out entirely after integration, left scrambling for support from a company that barely responds.
Fake User Issues and Data Integrity Risks. Equally concerning are reports of fake or ghost users being generated within Array customer management interface—creating massive compliance red flags. This poses serious risks, not only to end-users but also to resellers and partners who depend on accurate data for legal and financial compliance.
Beta-Grade Software at Production-Scale Prices. Despite marketing itself as a reliable enterprise-level solution, Array platform often feels like unfinished software being tested on live customers. The customer management portal, in particular, seems to be in perpetual beta—glitchy, unreliable, and devoid of the most basic operational transparency.
Leadership in Question. To make matters worse, insiders and clients alike have described the leadership at CRS, particularly the Array, as unprofessional and hostile. Numerous users report being treated dismissively, especially when raising legitimate concerns about outages, faulty data, or mishandled client onboarding.
Worse Than the Rest? Some in the industry have compared Array unfavorably even to Array, a provider often criticized for high fees and limited support. “At least with Array, you knew what you were getting. With Array, it’s like a roulette wheel every time you log in,” said one reseller who recently pulled their client portfolio from Array altogether.
Final Verdict: Stay Far Away. If you’re considering integrating Equifax data into your credit, lending, or identity solution, do your due diligence before signing anything with Array. The lack of professionalism, broken systems, and high-risk infrastructure make Array a provider to avoid at all costs.

I signed up for a $30/month plan with Equifax Canada and tried to cancel after one month. There was no option to unsubscribe online, so I had to contact support. The live chat told me cancellation is only possible by phone. When I called, the agent asked for my SIN to verify my identity, which I refused to give. I provided my account number and name, but then he also asked for my email and phone number. I felt uncomfortable and said I just wanted to cancel my subscription.
When I asked to speak with a manager, he refused and said I had to provide all that information first. For a company that handles sensitive data, this process felt invasive and unacceptable. I’ve canceled my subscription through my bank and reported the issue to the Privacy Commissioner. I would not recommend this service to anyone.

Greedy company, even after going through a data breach they believe 5 dollars is all their customers are worth. 🙄 They have no dignity or morals but I'm sure it’s a reflection of their own person and families yet can’t expect much of of unethical people to do right for their customers.

This company is ripping off its clients. I managed to open Equifax CompleteTM Premier account, but it took me an hour over the phone. Then they have charged my credit card immediately with 26.20 CAD for the first month of service, but I can not sign in into my account! I have tried multiple times calling them and asking for the support, nothing changed. I still can not reach my account. And the operators on their side of the line keep telling me that the problem is “on my side not theirs”.
To cancel the subscription you must call them and after spending another hour on the phone finally get it cancelled. But the money what they took upfront is already gone. Equifax is taking your money, but does not give you anything in return. Absolutely they are crooks and scammers, using their power to give you “a credit score”, and making you paying them outrageously high monthly fee for nothing.

I have been told every time I call that my request will be rushed and put through quickly as I am trying to buy a house and have my credit corrected. It has been 18 days and to me that is not rushed. I have also asked what the process is and not one person could tell me. They just read off of a script and have not been properly trained. Deadlines are not a priority and they have zero consideration for people's situations. The phone system is also terrible as they cut in and out and most of the time it is mid sentence.

I filed a dispute with Equifax regarding an account Verizon claimed was delinquent, even though I provided documents clearly showing the equipment had been returned and the charges were in error. Equifax still ruled in Verizon’s favor — without offering any explanation. It’s extremely frustrating that I even had to go through this process. The documents I submitted made the situation clear, yet they were either ignored or not properly reviewed. Consumers rely on these agencies to ensure accuracy, but Equifax failed to uphold that responsibility. This experience has left me questioning the fairness and reliability of their dispute process.

I have been unable to access my Equifax account Online for over 2 months. When you call customer service you have to 'dodge' the pitfall of having the prompter send you to the password update sequence. Then, after 10 minutes of pressing buttons and providing info, they put you on hold for another 10 minutes. When you finally get an Agent and convince them you really have a problem, they escalate it to Technical Support...who will call you back sometime in the next week!!. These guys are really slipshod!! I have TransUnion and Experian and never have issues like I have with these guys!

The absolute worst. I wish there were an option for 0 stars. I had a consumer proposal closed in 2022 and received a discharge letter as well as a list outlining the creditors included in the consumer proposal. I have created numerous online disputes to have the issue resolved and submitted the discharge letters, IDs and all related documents, yet the Equifax report keeps reporting an ongoing current balance. On April 3, 2025 I called yet again and provided my ticket submission number, the representative promised the information was updated on their end and that I should see the correction within 24hrs. So either there's a glitch in their system, or they simply just don't care as it doesn't affect them.
As the recognized institution for credit reports, Equifax needs to do better, and to think I have an ongoing subscription as well to monitor the corrections which seem unending. I called again on April 7, 2025 requesting to speak to a supervisor, which as expected, I was however promised a call back within 24hrs. I will return to the site to provide another update as I suspect the call back may not happen or I may receive another bunch of empty promises.

Worst company ever. I had put a fraud alert on my account during Covid. 5 years later, when I was selling my property the escrow company's online notary wanted to authenticate me thru Equifax's question and answer system and they could not because of the freeze I, myself, had put on my account. In order to lift off the fraud alert I had put on my file, I supplied them all the information, ID documentation etc and kept on calling them every single day at least 4 times asking the status of my file and all I heard was that it takes 5 to 30 business days to process my request. But why????
After submitting them all my ID documents and being authenticated by all their agents every single time I call them, probably at least 20 times... They just don't do their job and one agent says you have to wait 5 to 30 days, the other says I put in an urgent request, I updated your file, you'll get a confirmation email within 24 hours, and after several days still nothing. I demand to speak to a supervisor, they say they cannot connect me to a supervisor, a supervisor will call me in 24 hours, no one ever calls back. They are deceitful, they are liars, worst worst company by far that I have ever dealt with. Never, never, never again do I want to even hear their name, let alone do any business with them.
They do not deserve even a single star, they deserve tens of minus points. I am about to lose the sale of my house because of their incompetency and non-existent customer service. Even telling them that I was losing the sale of my house because of their incompetency and would sue them for a minimum of 1 million dollars in damages did not make them move their buts to do the job they are paid to do. Horrible, horrible company; a disgrace to service industry.

I needed to remove a fraud alert, as federal student loans take way longer with one active...I was able to do two of the three credit reporting agencies online...but Equifax has you call a toll free number...which is in India...and took probably ten tries to reach a live person...who I could hardly understand, not just because of accent but a lot of static on her end....the call took half hour, and finally she said she was sending confirmation number, which I never received...I asked her for the number, which I had to have her repeat several times....Then, she kept saying since I had it removed my ss number would more than likely be compromised...I mean....wow...and that I needed to subscribe to Equifax paid subscription...etc.
I kept saying I used another monitoring service and she was like, "well, ma'am, don't be surprised if your accounts and social are compromised immediately..." wow....and kept interrupting me to demand I take out their paid subscription...I was trying to thank her, finally I just hung up....no wonder they had a huge breach...Credit agencies should not be allowed to use third party vendors and be more secure...that person's phone service was horrible and probably totally insecure. I am writing to our states rep...and senator...please contact yours as well if you had similar experiences. Have a good day!
