With an almost perfect credit score, Equifax gave info totally erroneous and contradictory to the score which ended in denial of credit. No one via phone (who may not have even understood the problem because of a lack of the English language) could help, only pass the buck. Will be putting a block on Equifax so any more credit questions go to the other big credit companies.
I was locked out of my Equifax account because I hadn't logged in for a while. I tried to log in only because I received an alarming notification via email. I was unable to recover my account online. I finally got through to a live person via phone who (A) wasn't helpful (B) was quite rude. I had to switch browsers several times before I could recover my account. The process was time-consuming and stressful. I have had phone assistance from many companies and was always treated courteously and helpfully until now. This particular rep seemed to be lazy and uninformed. I had to solve the problem by myself.
I would like to say that I gave one star rating because a zero just didn't exist and zero is what they deserve. This company doesn't like to be put to work. I dispute several credit card accounts that were paid in full and instead of getting positive results for paying down approximately $9000 in credit card debt bringing my utilization down to 8% they decreased my score by 67 points for things that they had already penalized me for previously virtually penalizing me twice for the same previous things which can only be because I made them work. My advise is don't dispute things even if you're right. It won't go well for you!
I have always been very understanding with customer service reps, but Equifax is quite possibly the worst customer service and worst company I have ever dealt with!! I have been disputing 1 item on my report with them that was incorrect!! The other 2 bureaus removed it on the spot after a quick conversation! Not these people. They argue, ignore, and put you on hold till you have to hang up!! Absolutely zero professionalism, oh and don't tell them they made the mistake.... This is my #1 far worst company I have ever dealt with.
I have been arguing and disputing two inquiries on my Equifax credit report for months. I have confirmed with Citibank that the two inquiries on my credit were fraudulent credit card applications. One of credit Inquiry was added to my report when it was locked and had a fraud alert. The dispute function on their website in which Equifax says it will "investigate the inquiry" is useless and a SCAM. You get results within hours that states, "investigation has been concluded" with no change. No research has been done by Equifax or they would have removed them. I have contacted customer service many times with the same runaround and refusal to remove them. All I received was stress and frustration. My opinion is, EQUIFAX DOESN'T CARE!
I always thought all three credit bureau were basically the same. I was wrong. Equifax is in a class by itself. Unfortunately, it's at the bottom of the class. I had a reason to approach all three firm with a simple process. Two of them made it super easy on their websites. Equifax did not. I had to call, and the on-site listing which said I could connect to a live agent during business hours. (It was during those hours.) But the automated bot would not connect me, even after giving all the correct answers and receiving a security code. Eventually the automated system disconnected me. Fortunately, I don't pay anything to Equifax, but if I were a business, I would never pay a penny to use their services.
Called to speak to someone to get my credit report and had to do gymnastics just to possibly get to a live agent. It's ridiculous. We would like to talk to a live person and not a machine. Let's take it back to when companies actually talked to their clients.
Medicare was hacked and they sent a letter out letting their customers know this. They also arranged for one year of Equifax for free. Equifax is one of the entities that provide your credit score when asked. This way you can see if there is any activity on your accounts that should not be there. You are told that you have to go to the Equifax site and sign up for the free service. You are provided a code to enter for the free one year service. Unfortunately, if you use VPN like a lot of people do, you will not be able to sign up for the free Equifax service because they do not allow you to have VPN on. What is VPN, well it is a service you buy so you can protect your data and computer against any kind of hacking. It encrypts your data in and out. This is one of the best ways you can protect yourself against hackers. When I called Equifax to tell them about this they said write us a letter. I said forget it and did not sign up for their service.
They constantly advertise to sell their membership, or for you to apply for a loan or a new card through them to make money, Then they get hacked, and your information shows up on the Dark Web for sale. The other thing about Equifax that is bothering me is that I got a notification saying Between Dec 12, 2022, and Jan 11, 2023, the limit on your xyz FINANCIAL credit card increased. But Equifax reduced my score by 22 points when Transunion and Experian increased my score. I do not trust Equifax and am never, ever going to pay them a dime for their membership. Not Reliable. Not trustworthy.
Most strenuous trial cancellation process. Have to call a line that keeps you on phone for so long. So many information & documents required just to fulfill a cancellation that I should have been able to complete myself.
I paid down the balance of 2 credit cards of mine. TransUnion gave me 42 credit scores, but Equifax took 38 credit scores from me. Interestingly it says the reason they took 38 scores from me is the balance decreased by 2 credit cards. They admit that the balance is decreased, but they cannot explain why the credit score went down 38 points. They are just trash.
I paid for this service and then cancelled after 5 months. It took me about 30 min on the phone to cancel with their continuous delays and being put on hold, and the next month the charge was still there on my credit card. They make it so hard to cancel that you might hang up, and then they never cancelled it. Complete fraudsters and scumbags. I'm with RBC now and they give you a free credit report.
The Equifaxbreachsettlement lies and rips off people, you won't get what you filed for. They give you some virtual prepaid card worth $5.00, the biggest sleaze bags online, never trust them. They will steal your money
I was continuously charged 19.99 for 5 months after I cancelled and did not have access to the account. I called every month and they said I was cancelled but then I was charged again. They keep telling me a refund is under investigation… The absolute worst service!!
I have found since using Equifax the site to be impossible to navigate, when I call Equifax, there are way too many automated options to direct you to where you need go which is an impossible task, when you finally speak to someone they pass you from pillar to post to get you to the right person being put on hold yet again. Nothing is done quickly. Getting something resolved can take a month! Yes a a month. I have never had to deal with such a difficult company proceedings as this one. Dreadful.
Victim of identify theft, Equifax doesn't set passcode. Not good and the theft has your information can request unfreeze your credit anytime. Equifax doesn't provide a secured protection on your personal data.
They used outdated information and it's nearly impossible to contact reliable customer service to get them to update addresses, paid off mortgages, etc. Their scores are always considerably lower than the other credit reporting companies. I have little debt and only 1 late payment in 20 years, yet they recommend getting more credit to increase your score - makes one wonder if they get kickbacks when people fall for applying for more credit cards when they don't need them. The dispute process is ridiculous. The reports they send are a mess, hard to read and confusing. It's mind boggling that any lending agency would use these idiots.
After reviewing my credit I decided to apply for a mortgage. The day they pulled my credit Equifax dropped my credit score by 40 points. After investigating it was absolutely for no reason. As my other credit reports reported lower balances on credit cards the reported highest balance. I then disputed it and a month later they fixed it. Raised my credit score then the next day dropped again 25 points because of a inquiry. They are complete trash. 700 plus on all my credit scores except them. They refuse to fix it.
I've made 8 attempts over a 2-month period to get my Equifax Credit Report. I've been on hold Many times, only to be told that my "issue will be elevated." Every time I attempt to log in, I am prompted with a pop-up message telling me to call the toll-free number. Every time I call back, Equifax "elevates my issue". After my issue is elevated, I am sent an email response (about a day later) from CUSTOMER.CARE@EQUIFAX.COM, that my "Issue has been resolved. Please log in." I am still UNABLE to log in and view my Credit Report!
Every time I call customer service, I am told the exact same things over & over again: "Have you tried logging in WITHOUT using a VPN?/Have you tried logging in through Chrome?/Have you tried logging in through Edge?/Have you tried Re-Setting you password?/Have you tried logging in through your Desktop?/Have you tried logging in through your phone?/Try a different Email..." I've hit a BRICK WALL with EQUIFAX. There is NOBODY else to speak with and NO EMAIL ADDRESS to voice my Concern/Complaint.
I called to cancel my membership and they left me on hold for 50 minutes and then never came back, Just redirected me to the original call center. What a horrible experience and what a horrible way to treat other humans, this planet doesn’t need more stuff like this.
Equifax call center in Philippines, a representative name Marvin, employee ID #**, who was so unprofessional and unacceptable!!!! He asked my full name, but Equifax system somehow mixed up my first and last name around! He ended up unable to verify my ID and got mad. I started to offer my first name & last name, but he stopped me and said, "I asked for your FULL NAME, I didn't ask for your first or last name..!" I explained in the US, we preferred first & last name separately to avoid any confusion. He said, "I'm in Philippines not in America..!" He should follow his client (Equifax) customer culture and should never project his own culture (Philippine) to the North American customers and that was a basic mistake on him!
He should ask me to spell my first & last name and that will figure out my full name got switch between first & last! But he didn't and stated the system could not pull up my file, and I have to submit some sort of document to proof my ID..! I told him that he was so unprofessional and should not work in a call center and that is a shame that Equifax had such unacceptable offshore worker! So, I hung up and call back and got another representative answer my request, this time the new representative asked me to spell my full name and resolved the issue due to their system indicated my last & first were switched around! So, Equifax offshore call center in Philippines a customer representative name Marvin, employee ID #** was an unprofessional and unacceptable worker in his field!
I have a membership with Equifax, my personal and credit history on line is about six years out of date. Tried calling four times, can't speak to any person. I was denied loan because of out-of-date information and I have a very high credit score. Absolutely total waste of my money and honestly I cannot see how this is even legal for any company to do, charge me for an out-of-date credit history and one cannot get it corrected.
They are useless and not legitimate company. I have both my Experian and Trust Union is on excellent score they gold correct information regarding my electoral and adresses address. However, this ** Or God knows how they operate scored my account as a poor* due to their computer* generated score. First of all, they hold so many incorrect information regarding my informations. They accumulated my surname incorrect so they couldn't find me on electoral register (idiots of course can't find when they spell it wrong). They said I have missed payment from water bills and then I checked with my supplier (all paid of via direct debit) and all is set as it should. Because of their idiotic computer-generated point-based system my real life suffered. Such a shameful company shouldn't exist!
Been fighting with Equifax for almost a year to fix incorrect information. Been nothing but issue after issue with them. Barely can speak to someone that doesn't have broken English. They don't read very well reading off their computers until you get rude. Then if you asked to speak to a supervisor they say there isn't one. Are you kidding me, this is a credit agency.
I sent business letters requesting the information be corrected. I sent out certified letter with accurate information about these account and I don't get an response to them about my dispute. My credit report has not been up-dated since March, 2022. Which has cause me to denied for credit and offer very high interest rates. That cause me to turn away from them loans. Then comes out that they has been reporting incorrect information to lender and taking points away from your credit score. This company is doing more damaged than anything to everyone to whom they services. Finally I contacted Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and waiting to hear back.
I called customer service because my credit dropped 85 points because "my balance decreased by 9 bucks" on my Chime credit card, it's a prepaid card so how does this happen! Guy said it's not them. Its Credit Karma. When I asked to talk to a supervisor he argued with me then muted the phone while refusing to connect me with a supervisor! Worst customer service ever.
I was forced to use Equifax due to the company I was working for had it as their credit report. Useless report that is accessed from an error prone system which kicks you out with no warning or advice except - "try again". Then, when you get your monthly invoice, you find you have been CHARGED $7+ for each "error". I contacted equifax about this and the "researched" my claim. They said I "ordered incorrectly" and they would only give me a credit for $59 for the $198. OVERCHARGE. That, in a nutshell, is equifax. You do what THEY want, they WILL NOT DO A THING for you.
It took me 3 months just to get them to tell me we had an account with them and discuss my account and what else I could access with my account. 3 months. I guess they have sold enough, why sell more???? They certainly lost me and our company as an account. I see no valid reason to pay a company to treat you like dirt. There are so many other credit sources, equifax is not the best. Find another one. Leave this dead fish.
6 calls spanning over 2 months, sent in mail, countless phone calls, and hours on hold!!! Imagine how aggravated one must be to actually write a review on Equifax. I hope their 3rd world country call center burns to the ground!!!!
Old apartment building charged us 2 years after we moved out. Never told us. Sent it straight to creditor. Filed a dispute over 3 times and after confirmations received. All other credit bureaus agree charges are wrong, Equifax kept rejecting our dispute. Finally found out their systems aren’t receiving documents after months of attempts to complete dispute. Claims aren’t being investigated with documents and not timely per their own employee. Then claimed we have to do more to file disputes other ways. Why when they claim to have an online tool? Won’t offer alternative upload like secure email. Won’t update the disputes, asked for government ID (not related at all to the case or charges and they know who I am). Told me to deal the apt myself which I have through an attorney and keep trying to show this with uploading a document. Then the guy laughed at me.
Hello, it is very hard to get a hold of someone at Equifax, I am always on hold for hours for something simple that I need. This is a matter of importance. My mortgage company needs me to get in contact with this entity that does not pick up the phone, leaves us on hold.
45 minutes to try to update my address that ONLY Equifax seems to have wrong. My bank, credit cards, driver's license, etc have all been correct for 3 years. Equifax says it is my responsibility to TELL them my new address. Good grief.
