    So I've had the Petco Vital since April. No one told me it was a one-year subscription when I signed up for it! I just called to cancel my subscription because they charge me 28$ a month and I only get 20$ in rewards. They messed up my email when they signed me up for it so when I changed my email, the app doesn't recognize me as a VitalCare member and so I do not get any of the other discounts that I pay for! When I just called to cancel this subscription, that is completely pointless. The lady told me that it is a one-year subscription and so therefore cannot be canceled, but it will not renew in April. So I am forced to pay for this worthless subscription for the next 4 months. This is the absolute dumbest program that is a total rip-off and I will never shop at Petco again.

    Took my 65lb GSP for bathing and nail trim and buff. Mind you all are charged separately. I ask how long and she says 2hrs. Ok. 30 min later I get a phone call, she's done? So she tells me she's very nervous (never had a problem before), she's digging in her cage and they don't want her to hurt herself so if I can get here ASAP. So now in that 30 min they had time to bathe her (girl originally said rinse her down, and I said what???). Another groomer said no, we washed her 2x then rinsed her. Dry her, cut her nails, file her nails, and observe her digging in the cage. All within 30 min? Bull###t. 66.00 dollars later the cashier asks if I want to tip. I said NO, told her my impression of their groomers. 132.00 an hr, seriously!!!!!

    I tried to exchange some dog wear. It was too small for my three dogs.. I was going g to get something that fit. I did not have receipt because it was holiday season crazy. They also did not have my phone number in their system for some reason. I could not exchange nor refund. I am stuck with an item that cost 15-20 bucks I can't use... Sucks.

    Lowlife criminal scum! I've been getting the run around for four weeks for a defective product they sold. Support acts like they're doing something, but then every few days they reach out as if for the first time. They should be ashamed!

    PREDATORY online PRICING: Endeavored to place a "recurring" order for assorted "bird seeds" today. When prompted to "check out" I noticed a SURCHARGE of $10 added to my order. Upon further investigation and according to THEIR site, the "charge" is for customers that live in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands OR who want their items shipped to a P O Box. I live in a HOUSE located in western WASHINGTON STATE. Called their "customer service" line and was told there was NOTHING they could do to remedy the issue. NOT a problem as once AGAIN, yet another online "poser" fails in their efforts to supplement the REAL DEAL, Amazon of course, and that's where I've gone, yet AGAIN....

    Waterbury CT store. Grooming 10 stars. The only reason I continue to go. In-store help is rude, they do not understand what it means to be accountable and responsible to perform a customer service job. I blame the management for allowing this behavior. They are also not trained properly on the app, rewards or the products they offer. Petco, train your workers, including in-store managers and let go of the ones that don't want to work. Your prices are not competitive. I personally order my products from Chewy when I walk right into a pet store. If wasn't for one of your very talented groomers that has been there for years, I probably would not go back. Too bad, especially when online is taking over.

    The staff assumed that because My dogs had not been to Petco in a while that they had not been groomed in some which Petco is not the only grooming facility. My Shih Tzu poodles are both loving pups. I am not sure what would make one not allow the groomers to shave him but he did not and the way they left him was absolutely not acceptable and only shrugged her shoulders and said he was snappy which again I’ve never heard that. Anyways see pictures.

    Petco delivery has been horrible. They mailed out my cat food without a vets approval! That’s not even legal! Reached out in “Chat” and they cannot tell me when it was approved or by who. I ordered the wrong cat food it would have been nice to have the option to cancel it. Nope they mailed it out without my no permission. Yikes.

    I haven't experienced this poor customer service from a company in a long time. They lost my order and are going to refund that one. I requested they cancel all the rest of my orders and refund the 1 I was charged for. They said they could not cancel that order and refund the charge because they already received the product even though they had not shipped it yet. To make matters worse, the customer service representative spoke much too fast to understand.

    I recently got my Crested Gecko from the Flagstaff location, I realized soon after that he was sick and brought him back, they immediately took him in and kept up communication on his status and what was going on. They took him to Kaibab and personally I really love them and think they do a wonderful job, I’ve met with the staff and they are very knowledgeable and friendly. I went in to retrieve my gecko after a few weeks and he was so much better and hasn’t had any issues since, the woman who helped me out the entire time was Jordan and she was extremely nice, truly made me a loyal customer to that location. I also have noticed how active and friendly their reptile are, it's rare to find a big chain with good reptile care, but the management seems to care a lot and provide excellent quality set ups for them.

    The care for the aquatic section has also been wonderful, they are knowledgeable about what fish can thrive in what environments and with what company, letting me be assured that I am getting healthy and happy fish that will go on to live for a good while. I am so grateful to now have a healthy gecko, and will surely continue my patronage of the store.

    Lies, rather your dog starve to death than to assist you, promised a delivery date of the 10th. Now it's the 13th. Now it's whenever.... Wants me to drive all over god creation to pick up their food. No. I ordered it to be delivered not drive an hour away. I want my money back and I will never ever use you people again.     I scheduled a grooming appointment at Petco (Kamehameha location) on 12/6/2025, Saturday at 8:30 AM with Tara, who introduced herself as the grooming leader. Unfortunately, she denied service and cancelled my puppy’s appointment after noticing crusty eyes, insisting that I first obtain medical clearance to confirm he would not react to their shampoos or conditioners.

    While I understand the importance of pet safety, Tara’s approach felt dismissive and unprofessional. Instead of handling the situation with care, she acted as though she were diagnosing a severe illness, which is outside her role as a groomer. She even suggested I go to a nearby “Doghouse Groomer” because, in her words, “they don’t have rules there.”

    As a nurse, I value professionalism and ethical service. What I experienced today was the opposite—staff who seemed more interested in chatting with coworkers than honoring scheduled appointments. My dog, Jason, has been groomed here long before Tara’s tenure, yet this time the appointment was cancelled without reasonable accommodation. I cannot recommend this location anymore due to poor service ethics and inconsistency. If there were an option to give zero stars, I would. Customers deserve reliable care, not arbitrary cancellations or dismissive attitudes.

    Went for first time today. I gave my baby a self wash, and made two purchases advised by an awesome cashier. Later I asked another cashier (Caroline) about my purchase, and was rudely told, "I don't know how to tighten your harness, when you get home, figure it out!" As I was leaving, I looked back and saw her and another associate laughing. I felt stupid for even asking her because she had acted rude when I asked about the salon. I will go back, but only because of Tami, she was considerate, patient, and knowledgeable about the products. Thank you 😊

    Don't bother with the membership to try and save any money. If you start going to any specialty stores that are much better and knowledgeable about exotic pets and try to cancel your membership they will not let you. Very poor service from member services. I've tried canceling twice and I'm stuck with it for another few months.

    This morning I had to rush my little Phoenix to the vet, and my heart is still tight about it. For days I noticed him licking his paw and kept checking for stickers, but never found anything. Last night I finally saw a little blood. This morning—much more. The vet discovered the problem: one of his nails had grown so long that it punctured into his paw. His own nail grew into his skin. I’m absolutely sick over it.

    Phoenix has been groomed every 6 weeks at PETCO Grooming on SE Military Drive. I pay good money—plus a generous tip—to make sure his nails are trimmed. Missing it once is human. But a nail doesn’t get that long from a single mistake. It was clearly missed more than once. When I called, the manager didn’t apologize—not even a simple “I’m sorry this happened.” Instead, I was told that I should have checked. So here it is: I will not be returning to PETCO Grooming on SE Military. I’m sharing this so other pet parents can be aware and avoid going through this with their fur babies. Thankfully Phoenix is being treated and will be okay. But this should’ve never happened.

    Their ball pythons are very dehydrated and have stuck shed and eye caps. There is one that looks very lethargic and slight head wobbles. Also do not know the types of ball pythons they are getting shipped in store. They have some of them labeled with the Wrong morphs. Their reptile enclosures are dry. They are a pet store and should have someone dedicated to taking care of these pets to ensure long and happy full lives.

    It's where the Pets Go? In my experience it's more like "It's where the sickly and dying pets come from." Caveat Emptor! That means BUYER BEWARE! Took a shot at purchasing a Coral Beauty for my 15 year strong saltwater tank. Showed up and was sold a fish still in the delivery bag. No one conveyed their fish policy to me and I didn't see any policy displayed that says you buy it, it dies overnight, so sorry so sad no credit or refund.

    DO NOT BUY SALTWATER FISH from this or any Petco. Just buy them online. There is a NO RETURN/REFUND POLICY at Petco for saltwater fish, you may as well just gamble that money on FanDuel or in Atlantic City since that's what buying saltwater fish from Petco is, just a gamble without guarantee. At least at sites like Saltwaterfish.com or LiveAquaria, you get credit towards your next purchase if the fish doesn't make it with just a photo and your word. They can do a water test to check your system, but they don't. Petco lost all my business for my 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 fish tanks.

    I have tried to purchase items for my two dogs four times and each time the order was damaged or wrong. This last order, I needed to call customer service as I wasn't able to change my order online. The order was wrong. Despite it being wrong, I would have to pay to have the wrong items shipped back. I drove to Petco. It was a heavy bag of dog food. I brought it back to the curb of Petco, and asked a staff member to carry in the bag of dog food that was delivered torn open. I was told, "That's not my job". Poor service, wrong items delivered. 11/25

    My Order Number #**. *Again gets either Screwed-Up or Forgotten! This place likes to send my order to The Wrong Address! This place likes to send a *Portion of my order to The Correct Address. Sometimes, I get automated email updates confirming Delivery but Never Shows Up! Sometimes if my order actually Shows Up, *It's Wrong Items! I've given many chances to this place but tonight I'm Done with Petco. Tonight I called and Cancelled another order and shopped elsewhere.

    My recent visit to Petco was over the weekend. I was able to find great products! However, when I checked out, the cashier offered me to sign up for their app. I did so for the 9.99 a month, or so I was told. It turns out the 9.99 was for reptiles and birds, not for puppies. My account was charged $24.99 and would be for reoccurring monthly charges. I called and canceled the subscription.

    I just don’t know where to start but start I must. I have been a part of the Petco family since 2010. Treats, Rx food, Rxs, leash, collars, toys, you name it, I got it. Rewards -all about that. When you have a Rx food, I know it has to be shipped so it’s not an instant delivery. However a PRESCRIPTION dog FOOD should be just that and exact to the prescription, right? We all know that. So I did just that and my order was lost, redone, voided because it was redone wrong, lost again. Petco Customer Service disappeared completely and the PETCO Corporate Customer Service went AWOL! I called every day for a week and LM to call me. That it was urgent and having to do with Rx food! Please call. I need help! Guess what? No one called.

    I called everyday and got on first name basis with the operator. Guess what? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. And finally I realized that since my 10th bag was free that maybe Petco just didn’t care and didn’t want to give me my free bag of food ?! Omgosh! I tried regular customer service again and finally got my order placed but it was wrong! And they lied about the extra food. And still nothing from corporate. I can’t do this anymore. Every order is a problem. Used to be easy to place an order. Somewhere along the way Petco lost their way. I am divorcing Petco. How sad. For me anyway.

    I went to Petco at Centennial Center in Las Vegas on Saturday 11/01/25 for the first time grooming to my 2.5 years old French bulldog, every professional in this area knows that French Bulldogs have trouble breathing, I usually took him to another place (which I should never have changed) and chose to take him to Petco because I thought that if something happened, they would know what to do immediately. However, they were very busy with many dogs, and when I check in, they never asked me anything about his breathing. They only asked for his vaccination record. I told them to please keep an eye on him and let me know immediately if his tongue started turning purple. They never checked him.

    Forty minutes later, they called me to come pick him up because they hadn't been able to bathe him since his tongue was purple and he had diarrhea. When they have diarrhea, it means they've been in a respiratory crisis for a long time and had already had a heart attack. They only realized this when it was time for his bath. They never checked him, they didn't even give him emergency care, in a place where everyone is supposed to be professional. Minutes after I went to pick him up, my beloved Frenchie died at the hospital.

    I placed an order with them on October 21, and I am still waiting for my auto shipment to arrive. In contrast, I ordered from Chewy on Friday and received my package today. My experience with Petco has been extremely frustrating. I visited both locations in Columbia, SC, and neither had the item I urgently needed. I went to the store because shipping was taking too long!

    I'm not sure what is happening lately with Petco. We order our dogs food through them online probably once a week. But recently, every time I order the food for delivery the order goes through and then it never shows up? You go into your account, and it states it's "processing". You can never get through to customer service at the store so you have to contact the 800 number or use the chat and both take forever. I normally end up cancelling the order and then ordering it again for pick up.

    Hello, I recently had an awful experience with customer service regarding repeat delivery. I got my normal email telling me that my order was available for review and modification. This is an email I get every month before it is prepared and ready to ship. I decided I needed to change the dog food we buy. My dogs did not do well on the sensitive stomach and are now 7 yrs old. When I clicked on email to make modifications, once in my account, I noticed suddenly I had 3 repeat deliveries set up. I have never had 3. I have only had one that ships each month. I have made modifications previously so this is something I know how to do. Anyway, when I saw three repeat deliveries, I was confused but, relieved to see it so that it does not deliver or charge my card.

    I proceeded to go in to the two smaller orders and delete them and cancel the repeat delivery for those two. Then I went into the largest order and went to change the dog food. As I was looking for the dog food I noticed a notification on my phone saying I was charged about 125$ by Petco which made no sense since I was still working on the order modification and I deleted the other two accounts. I did not want to mess up what I was working on so I finished and changed my dog food to the Science Diet Hard Food for 7+ large breed. I confirmed my order, changed shipping to standard, and pressed the repeat delivery button. I then went and looked at the charge I was getting and noticed two more charges pending! So I went to my email, I got emails saying my order was updated and then got email saying my repeat delivery was cancelled.

    When I looked at the emails nothing was correct! I went back into my account and went through the whole process again! I then waited a couple minutes and went back into to make sure it was correct, it was not! Once again it showed the 3 repeat deliveries and now there was a fourth order that was a regular order! At this point, I realized there was seriously something wrong. I decided I was just going to cancel/delete everything. I went in and did that. I logged out, waited couple minutes, logged back in and my account showed that I had no repeat deliveries. So I was relieved. Everything appeared deleted. I waited and went back in to account again to put in a whole new repeat delivery. I went through the entire process of picking what I needed which was a 45 lb of the 7+ dog food, a 15 lbs or the same dog food, the hard cat food and one case of the soft cat food. I set it for standard delivery and repeat delivery. It saved.

    I logged out. I was at work so went to take care of a customer. After that I came back and thought I just better check again. I logged in and the 3 dang repeat deliveries were back! Along with a regular! But, not the repeat delivery I just created!!! So I called customer service. At this point, I see charges pending still in my card for a total of over $600. As I called I heard a message say something was wrong with the computer system and to be patient. I thought maybe this is what is going on. So I finally get to a person and I tell them everything and I ask them to cancel everything. Just delete everything, close all repeat deliveries, and refund everything. I said I will just get my food this time from the store and try this later. I explained I was at work and could not afford to waste anymore time on this.

    The customer service rep told me initially that they could not refund or modify anything. I told them that made no sense, since I just got an email the day before to review/modify my order if I wanted. So if I can modify it surely they can cancel it all and refund me. With my persistence, he finally said he could only stop the “order” not the “repeat deliveries”. I said again, that makes no sense. I said I wanted to speak to a supervisor. He put me on hold and when he came back he told me he spoke to the supervisor and that the supervisor said that he could only stop the order and put in a request (expedited mind you) to refund that money once it clears. I said that is unacceptable and that I want to speak to the supervisor or a person above their supervisor. So he put me on hold again so I could speak to a supervisor.

    Oddly, I get a call from an unknown number on the other line. It called twice consecutively so, I answered it. It was supervisor named, Inno, who told me the same thing as the previous person. I explains this was unacceptable and made no sense. I explained I am not new to this, that I have been doing this for a couple of years and have modified before. I explained that I get this email every month before order is prepared to ship. That the email shows that nothing has been completed, everything was pending. I even asked if the issue with the computers they were having was related. I got no acknowledgment of that question. I was then told that he was going to cancel the “order” and stop all pending charges, and that he could not stop the repeat deliveries from shipping and that I would have to return them to the store when I got them since he was stopping all pending charges.

    I explained that this was really unacceptable since I had already wasted so much time, can’t afford to have all these charges on my card and that I did not want to waste any more of my time having to drive somewhere to return it all and that I don’t have anywhere that I can even store the food if I wanted to keep it. I then asked for everything in writing since I have had so much trouble. He sent me an email detailing what he was doing. I still have that email and can send it to you. I asked that he send another email with his name, he did. Guess what I got later that night???? An email saying that ALL orders were being shipped!!!! And then I got notification that ALL charges were pending on my account. By the next morning, all charges posted!!!

    I immediately replied to the email that Inno sent me and told him what happened and that I will be posting negative reviews shortly everywhere I can and that I will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau. Of course, no response! I now have to use my time to take a bunch of food to a store almost an hour away, one way! On top of all that! The food came damaged! One case of the canned food was crushed and leaking everywhere (will be returning that and have a picture of it if you would like) and one case had several dented cans. I am livid. I was lied to. The situation was not handled at all! It has cost me several hours of my time. I will be reporting the BBB and putting reviews on every social media platform, Google… Everywhere.

    Their online app seriously needs work when it comes to ordering through the pharmacy. Twice I have attempted to order Heartgard and twice they have canceled it. I have sent in my prescription and God knows where it ended up but after traveling 25 minutes to pick up my prescription from my vet mailing it in to the Express script address that comes up online when you ask where to mail prescriptions for Petco, they never received it. And they again canceled my prescription. I called them to let them know that I had ordered Heartgard for a second time and at the prescription should be there and even though I told them that they had already probably received the prescription they told me allow three to five days. Well I guess that meant nothing. They really need to work on their own line prescription service. I really don't want to talk to anybody overseas anymore they need somebody here locally.

    This store is the worst for customer service. Anna, the manager was so rude to me when I was there that I just turned around and walked out of the store because she is the worst. She told me even if I went to corporate it didn’t matter because they would just review it send it back to her, and she was in charge of whether I could have a refund or not when they sold me the wrong saltwater item. She told me that I should know what kind of a fish I’m buying for a saltwater tank and shouldn’t it be the other way around that the person selling the fish should know what kind of fish they’re selling. I will never go back to the store and I’ve asked corporate to contact me and it’s been 2 1/2 Weeks.

    I chose Dog Shield. When I went to the appointment, they only did the Rabies Vaccination and the Canine 5-1 (DA2PP) Vaccination. They charged me $196.51.

    They told me that was the price they charge because they are a hospital. I made the appointment at one of the locations Petco offered right under the packages; at no point did they specify different prices in different places.

    My order came in a box that was damaged, and one package inside the box was also damaged. I contacted Petco several times about that package, it's cat treats, and they are refusing to do anything about it. I have been a longtime Petco customer and have subscriptions for all my products. After this I will never order from them again, and would suggest no one else does, either.

    The store on University in Huntsville did not groom my Doodle’s ears as requested and paid for over a long period of time. This resulted in over $1000 in vet bills and an ear infection that took 2 months to resolve. Petco’s customer service to compensate for this issue has been full of lies. You cannot speak to anyone at the corporate office that speaks English and the store gives the runaround. This is after submitting 2 claims where they promised a reimbursement. I will never patronize them again.

    The worst company ever!! I purchased something online. It wasn’t correct so I tried to mail it back. Had to call them on four separate occasions kept being told because it came from a third-party vendor that they would send someone to pick it up. It’s been over a month it’s still sitting in my hallway. I was promised the manager would call me. Never did. I was promised that the person I was speaking with would follow up with me. Never did.     I have been going to my neighborhood Petco for many years and what I can say is for the outmost for most of the time never had a problem. The two times I had a problem was with the grooming department and how the manager address my complaint after you know, it cost $80 to get full grooming on a 5 pound dog Which I’m OK. I’m a pet owner and I want my dog to have the best but when I walk in and they hand me my 5 pound dog. It’s too dirty with a horrible haircut and I complain and then they tell me, "We are going to do it over," which you took another 2 1/2 hours of my day.

    When I got home, I realize that they had not even clipped my dog's nails and that was the second time of a grooming. The worst part for me is when you talk to a manager that tells you that everything that they did was OK. A manager that says that you are asking for something for free from the store. I feel that I was very insulted by my neighborhood Petco and when complain to corporate, they also did not even acknowledge my complaint. It’s upsetting when you live in a neighborhood for 40 years and then you have stores that you’re visiting for many years in you're treated so poorly. The manager at my store actually said to me that he’s been working there for two years and I guess he’s saying that meaning he can do whatever he wants. Very, very disappointed.

    I’ve tried this groomer twice, and both times were a bad experience. I brought in two dogs and was charged full price for both, even though one clearly didn’t get the full service I paid for. They always have an excuse — like “he kept moving” — but that doesn’t justify charging me for things that were never done. Both visits were the same story: extra charges for services that weren’t performed, and poor communication when I asked about it. I gave them another chance hoping it was just a one-time mistake, but it clearly wasn’t. If you value honesty and getting what you pay for, go somewhere else. This place is overpriced, unprofessional, and not transparent about what they actually do for your pets.

    Do not go here, groomer I had royally **. Completely shaved ear off with some strangle long hairs left in tact. Left traumatized me and my dog. ZERO Stars!!! They shaved my dog's ears, actually shaved outside of both ears and inside of one. Then said he lost a tooth and was bleeding. No tooth was given to me and he was not bleeding. Anyway, very upset and traumatized by what they did or rather did not do. Almost forgot they said there would be no charge-All I could do is laugh at this point. Really you need to tell me no charge? 3rd photo is his ears before and the pic on bottom is after. My intuition tells me they messed up his ear so bad they used his teeth as an excuse to stop.     I got the premier subscription to save on grooming. I turned off auto renewal because my dog won't need a trim until after winter, they still took the money out of my account. Customer service said that didn't matter. I asked several times to just cancel my subscription and she kept pushing me to not cancel. Do not push me to buy or keep something I don't need or want.     I want to logde a complaint directly to Petco's San Diego headquarters in regards to a retail store at 1331 Hooper Avenue in Toms River New Jersey. First, please take notice that the store has gotten 72 one star reviews on Google Places this is exceptionally disturbing. Second, please take notice that the store's employment practices are intolerant and segregationist specifically having a supermajority of women during a regular basis. Third, I witness and vouch for other persons claims that an extremely bad grey haired skinny senior female employee is continuously exhibiting cruel manners, actual confrontational body language, and short fused illogical responses during direct customer engagements.

    I have a report to make about an incident on September 25 at 4:00PM that an extraordinary abnormal operations at the store, specifically that the Vetco Vaccination Clinic lounge entrance on the side had been deliberately sealed off with a vinyl barricade (during business hours). Further, any reasonable person like myself needs to ask where is it the Vetco Vaccination Clinic I asked this question to two (disinterested) passerby employees (who did NOT stop to engage with me) they said to me 'It's over there" again a reasonable person like myself needs to follow signage.

    I followed signage after the two disinterested employees said to me 'Over there' so I followed the one and only arrow sign which led to a centralized pet pen and I sat down with pure calm manners. Proceeding further for 10 minutes I had not been greeted still not greeted and I was shown the correct direction otherwise by a random customer. Further I proceed to a 4.5 ft plastic table that is attached to the pet food section which basis is bizarre. I bring my pet on the table it is already in its crate bin window featured carryon. Two of the employees look down at the floor. I must say they seem disturbingly detached while looking at the floor for no apparent reason. I say hello. For no reason I got arguments.

    My experience with Petco's online chat support was incredibly frustrating. I had a simple request to get a copy of my dog's vaccination record. Instead of giving me a direct answer, the representative repeatedly sent me scripted, irrelevant information and phone numbers. After a long and circular conversation, the representative finally admitted that they did not have access to the records I needed from the beginning. This wasted a significant amount of my time.     Vetco at Petco is horrible at their location in Santee. The manager is rude and unable to acknowledge when they mess up.     I have shopped in Petco for 10 years. The lady in pet grooming actually thought she knew our dog better than we know our dog. Was rude and greatly inconvenience our family. We count on Petco to do their job and when they refuse to do the job they have done for 10 years then something or someone has changed. I now have a bad taste in my mouth.     Today I went to Petco to look for dewormer for my kitty. I walked around the whole store and couldn’t find it. There was an employee that passed me by twice and never offered any assistance. When I finally found what I was looking for, I was ready to check out. She carried my basket to the register for me. I liked to give a huge SHOUT OUT for Nicki. She said she was the animal manager. She was so awesome!!!! I had a question about the dewormer, she tried to find the answer for me. She couldn’t find the answer either but at least she tried and didn’t brush me off.     I’ve had three dogs and I normally go to Vetco to get my dog shots. I went to a Petco Vetco on the northside of Chicago on Western. They convinced me to pay ahead of time for my dog shots. I pay almost $200 and I missed my second appointment. Instead of them rebooking They basically just took my money. Nobody in the store told me that if I paid in advance and missed the appointment That my services will be canceled with no refund.     Absolutely the worst pet store I have been to. The reward program is a scam. They never have rewards correct. I buy 2 bags of Orijen dog food Six Fish, Regional Red every 2 weeks. Total is around $250. So in 5 visits I should have my 10 bag purchase equaling a free bag. But for some reason when I purchased 2 bags at same time it only credits me 1 bag purchase. I email receipts and they say it will be corrected but never is. So now I have to make 2 separate purchase when I check out to get my credit for each bag. Now that I finally get 10th bag free. Well that's total BS. Because I still have to pay more than just tax when I check out.

    I asked why it was so much and she explains I only get a percentage. It doesn't actually equaling FREE. Not to mention half only the time they don't even have the food in stock and have to drive to another town to get 1 or both bags. I have spent my last dollar there. And definitely DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG THERE FOR GROOMING. I don't have time to tell that story. This would DEFINITELY be ZERO stars if I could.

    I entered Petco at 12410 K Street, in Omaha, Nebraska sometime approximately between 530 and 540pm on 8/21/2025. I came to the store because I wanted to purchase a parakeet. I looked at the birds and made a decision on the one I wanted to purchase. No sales associate was in the area, however I did see an associate at the register and I called to him loudly from where I was standing and asked if anyone was working in the area. This I later found out was supposedly the lead associate. He called loudly to someone that was not too far from where he was standing at the register and indicated to him that a customer needed assistance. He then called to me and loudly and said someone would be with me in a few minutes. I continued to engage with the parakeets, and confirmed indeed which bird I wanted. I looked around several times to see if any employee assistance was near, however to no avail.

    After what I anticipate to be about 7 minutes, two employees appear in my line of sight. A tall male and a female. They were standing not too far from the entrance to the store and near the register. They were chatting it up. I looked and pondered when someone was going to assist me. After a few minutes, they laughed and the female employee exited the store. The tall employee sort of looked dumbfounded as to what he needed to do next and proceeded to walk in the direction from which he came, which was opposite of where I was standing. I then called loudly and said, "Can you assist me?" The tall employee walked over and started grabbing his keys and said to me, "I don't like being yelled at." I told him I was not yelling at him but I was trying to get his attention because I wanted to purchase a bird. He then grunted, and acted as if he did not want to assist me. I then stated, "I don't need this, I can get a bird from anywhere."

    I started to exit the store and the employee said, "I am going to call the police on you." I stopped and said, "What?" I then asked him for his name and job title. He had the phone near his head, and once again stated to me that he was calling the police. I said, "What for, because there are plenty of cameras in the store, go ahead and call the police, I would love for them to see the video." Then the first employee who I has called to for assistance showed up and said, "What was going on." I responded, "I don't know. Your employee said that he was calling the police on me." I informed him that I asked the employee for his name and title, and then the employee stated, "I'm calling the police." I said, "Go ahead." The supposed lead then said, "Ma'am, leave the store." I said, "What for?" I then asked him for his name and he said his first name and that he was the lead on duty.

    I then said, "Why are you asking me to leave the store." I then stated that, "I would have been gone if your associate had not stated as I was walking towards the exit that he was going to call the police on me." The lead then repeated 3 to 4 times, "Ma'am just leave the store." I looked at the two of them, turned towards the exit, stopped and turned towards them and said "Racism Alive and Well in America." I'm glad that I started recording the interaction when he arrived at the cage near the birds. Which I do have a copy of the verbal CONFRONTATION that took place.

    I am a 61 year old woman who is disabled. I went into your store with the best of intentions. I wanted to purchase a bird as a companion to the bird I have had for 7 years. My bird has been in a depression, since she lost her grandmother a couple of months ago and was lonely for companionship. My goal was to purchase a companion bird for my bird.

    This interaction has made such a negative impact. Number one, one of your birds could have had a new loving home. Number two, your employees do not know the first thing about customer service. Chatting and laughing with one another while customers wait is not a good use of their time. Plus the employee that supposedly was the lead, after he finished assisting customers at the register could have assisted me with purchasing my purchase, but did not. Not only demanding that I leave your store, the threat of having the police to show up to escort me out, was above and beyond uncalled for.

    I actually waited a few minutes in my car for the police to show up. However no one did and I drove off. I hope that no other customer experiences the type of treatment that did at your store. The two employees should be terminated. However I am not here to dictate how you address your employees. I will however say, that I will NEVER walk into one of your locations again in my life. Not only that, I am sharing this CONFRONTATION with social and local media.

    My auto refill for my pup's meds was started on Aug 3, 2025. As of Aug 20 I still don't have her meds and she is now out of them. My Vet sent the information over twice to make sure they had it before he left on vacation. They cancelled my order, I called, and their employee stated they had received my Vet's fax. Still no meds. Called again to find they attached the script to the order THEY cancelled. Was told it was fixed and order would be processed. Still nothing.     Super irritated to find out (only after shipping, and w/ NO notification at checkout) that this company only ships DoorDash?!? I didn't order anything "same day", and the order said to allow for 3-4 days to process (totally reasonable if shipped normally)... I just selected repeat deliveries, as I have on Chewy in the past. It's super tricky if that's how things are default delivered, as there was zero indication at check-out. Who expects DoorDash w/out selecting it?!? I would have gladly waited several more days to have it shipped UPS or FedEx... if they gave that estimated window, so I could plan.

    Of course there was an issue w/ the delivery, as I live in the city and who knows what happened w/ the driver... and the item "couldn't be delivered", despite leaving detailed instructions and my phone # to call if there was an issue, after getting an email Doordash was the company in route w/ the package. The only positive is the PETCO chat agent was friendly and refunded, but now I have to hope Chewy pulls through so my pets have their food before they run out. Not to mention the money isn't back in my account for 3-5 days. It isn't something sold in any stores near me. No wonder PETCO offers cheap deals if you sign up for auto deliveries... What a joke!!! Never again will I order from them. It's Chewy all the way, even if I have to pay double.

It takes you an hour to place an order, the quantities are incorrect, they never ship on time and the food is always late.     Really disappointed in the lack of professionalism received 7/8/2025 from the Vetco Clinic in Dardenne Prairie. Took my dog for routine vax and female Dr (who wouldn’t share her name), was incredibly aggressive and rude while asking them to help ease my dog’s nervousness. She said she’d need to restrain and muzzle my well behaved dog. I challenged her on her behavior and because I did, she refused to help my dog. Do not use these guys for vet services. Very professional and will not help make your dog feel comfortable.

    Not recommended! Brought our cats to the vaccination clinic and, despite being told via phone the day before that they would administer the cat only rabies vaccine, they gave them both the combo (which can cause cancer in cats) and told us after the fact. We knew that there were supply issues, as we previously went to Tractor Supply and did NOT choose the combo vaccine for this specific reason. So, we were excited to follow through with Vetco since they had it in stock. Instead, they lied and gave us the pamphlet after the injections! Customer service is not US-based and you can't contact the vaccination clinic directly. They told me this after 5 phone calls where they pretended to "connect me to the right department" and "let me speak with someone at the Providence store." If you care for your animals, take them somewhere else.

    I would give them zero stars if I could. Attempted to order an aquarium online for delivery. The first try was canceled in about 5 minutes and they blocked my laptop from accessing their site. I called the 1877 number and they helped me replace the order over the phone. After about an hour that order was canceled as well. When I called back they said they had to finish investigating for "fraud". I work in cybersecurity. A person buying something from your website isn't fraud.     I wish I could give them a. Zero!! I had an appt at the Petco on Crawfordsville rd. At 8:30am (store opens at 9a) they did have a groomer bell to ring if you have an appt before the store opens, I rung it waiting patiently for someone to come to the door, a lady eventually came I want fretted or anything so I spoke to her instead. I didn't think much of it. She started walking fast towards the back of the store mind you my dog has never been groomed there so I really didn't know where I was going when she started walking fast. When I finally got to the desk she asked for rabies vaccination ppw. I gave her a sheet out my dogs folder, she instantly said, "We can't take hand written vaccination as proof", I had a folder with all his 📑 so I must have gave her the wrong 📄.

    I proceeded to ask to speak to someone else because she was so rude. Mind you it's 8:30 am. She said she was a manager then stormed off and got another manager EMILY, when I found her correct ppw I was told "at this point your visit is cancelled.!" I said what then everyone started coming out. Mind you no one is in the store just me a young ** woman trying to get her dog groomed, I ended up calling the police to make a report because that was so unnecessary how I was treated. The groomer manager (so she say she is) is racist and had a bad attitude. Please if you are ** don't go there. They are rude!

    I ordered 6 cases of wet cat food (24 cans each) and received a single flimsy box weighing over 50 lbs dumped on my doorstep. The smell was awful before I even opened it. When I lifted the box, it nearly collapsed. Inside was a disaster: someone had torn apart one of the cases and stuffed loose cans into every corner. During shipping, the cans smashed together, many were badly dented and leaking, with spoiled cat food coating the entire box. Absolutely disgusting.

    I called customer service right away and spent an hour on the phone. While they did offer a return with refund, I wanted a proper replacement. They couldn’t guarantee the return pickup would have a box, couldn’t place a replacement order because it’s now out of stock, and refused to reissue the 25% coupon I originally used. So in the end, I got a mess, no replacement, and lost my discount—All due to irresponsible packing and poor service. Never seen anything like this. Petco really let me down. Won't return ever.

    Took my Maltipoo pup in for grooming. His scrotum turned severely red and swollen. Warranted an emergency pet visit. Dr documented that it was due to the groomer.     My 8 year old cat died due to Vetco Total Care Hackensack's negligence... Of course, the doctor (Dr. AK - Abdul K.) chose to avoid blame (lying about what was given to my cat that killed him, said "what's done is done", did everything but accept responsibility). I was forced to escalate this case and to no surprise, PETCO showed even more unprofessionalism.

    My emails and calls were ignored; Customer Relations chose not to take the Customer Relations call telling me to call the Hackensack Hospital instead because the case was so messy, they didn't even want to touch it; lead doctors of Vetco's Eastern Region have even had their hand in changing the events. It took 2 weeks for someone for upper management to even respond. They are the MOST brainless, coldhearted, unorganized group of lying, petty underqualified morons. They have no respect for pet's lives assuming a simple apology for killing my cat is all that is owed. To those looking to give PETCO your money and business, I'd like to save you the headache and advise you to go elsewhere.

    I am writing to formally document my disappointment regarding the handling of my dog’s heart medication prescription by your pharmacy. The original prescription was sent to you and was subsequently lost by your team. I was informed that you only accept original prescriptions by mail and will not accept faxed or emailed copies.

    Unfortunately, after your team lost the prescription, no other options were provided to me. Because of this, my dog has now been without his required heart medication for several months. Additionally, the prescription has since expired, forcing me to schedule a new vet visit and pay additional out-of-pocket expenses to obtain a new prescription — All due to your company’s mistake. I understand that policies are in place, but losing a prescription and failing to offer any reasonable alternative places unnecessary risk on the well-being of animals and undue financial burden on pet owners.     I went to Petco about two months ago in Pittsfield to buy fish, the tanks were deplorable, I told the manager or assist manager and she said she used to clean them but they upped her to supervisor and she didn't have the time. I said, "You should be turned into the humane society for cruelty to animals" and left the store. You couldn't see through the glass and the water was filthy. Well I wanted more fish yesterday and said I would see if they did anything to improve. The fish section was highly improved, fish were active and a few tanks did have dead fish which should be taken out. But, they were clean and clear water and the glass was see through. I did buy three male guppies and a betta for my small tank.

    As she gave them to me she said, "Is that really small one ok?" I thought it would be so I said, "Yeah without as much competition he probably will eat better." Well this morning no tiny fish. She said they were fine with bettas so I took her word. I checked the filter because he was so tiny. I thought he might have gotten through the slots but he wasn't in the tank, so I think the Betta must have eaten him, the other two are doing fine, but they were twice his size. I will edit this after I see if they will give me another fish for the one that was too small to really sell.

    Petco grooming staff in Dalzell, SC is the most racist group of people I have ever dealt with. You can never have my business. I sent my dog there to be groomed. At first, the attendant took forever to serve me and my husband. When I was finally called to have my pet groomed, I was told I needed to show proof that the puppy was vaccinated for rabies. Not only, did I give her the immunization record but also the actual receipt from the vet. This lying heifer said it needed to be printed out, not written on a piece of paper. THEY JUST DID NOT WANT TO SERVICE THIS ** WOMAN'S DOG.

    I signed up and paid for the AKC Canine Good Citizen’s class at Petco in Grass Valley. Huge mistake! Paid for the class in February and got switched to a different class because there was not enough people signed up. I went to the store to check on the start time and date of the class that was finally about to start in June. My dog and I waited in line at the checkout. My dog barked once and pulled toward another dog up by the register.

    When I got up front, the cashier (whom I later learned was the general manager;) she said my dog could not attend any Petco classes because my dog was dangerous. She went on to say that my dog was aggressive both in front of grooming and out in the parking lot which could not have happened because we simply walked in and over to the checkout line. (I have had my dog in store a half-dozen times previously and she regularly travels with me to all kinds of hotels, stores and restaurants with no problem.)

    A trainer never evaluated my dog in person, or I would know. The general manager went on to say her 120-pound dog was the only other dog in the class and she would not be putting her dog in a class with my dog. (My dog was never out of my control and is a 62-pound Golden Retriever that is a trained and registered as my Service Dog. I was only bringing my dog in for additional AKC Accreditation and to advance the training continuum that all dogs need.) There were lies and misrepresentations on the part of Petco and the kicker is that they would not process a refund. I waited months, and my dog never went to a single class!

    I went to Petco Corporate Customer Service and they only offered a gift certificate in the amount of the class. Well, I will never shop there again, and they won’t let my dog attend another class anyway. The General Manager is the only one who gets good customer service with her dog. These people have no problem-solving skills, initiative, reasonable judgement or even a hint of ethical behavior. This store deserves the negative internet reviews that it gets and I am determined to spread the word.

    Had Petco vital care premium for years and recently found out that they just completely changed the plan making it worth a lot less money but still charging me the same amount monthly. Went to cancel and was informed that it is a yearly contact that auto renews. I told them that since the policy details had changed that I should have had it auto renews as I did not agree to these conditions. They are a crooked company that does not care about your pet all all. Their vets are terrible and overpriced and will nickel and dime you. This company is truly awful.

    I made an appointment to get my dogs groomed at PetCo just like I have in the past. When I arrived they stated they would not groom Stella because she has Addison's and takes prednisone. They have groomed her before but now they refuse to groom her. Other groomers have said that she is one of the calmest and sweet dogs. They said they could not groom her because prednisone is a mood altering medicine. They refuse to groom dogs with Addison's disease.

    This review is not about the service you get, it's about the service you don't get. If you go to the website you can not send a complaint to the store. I have a complaint about a product I bought from there. I recently built a pond at my house. I bought from Petco a Pond Bulb Kit, just toss in the pond and they grow. Well that never happen, they have been on the bottom for months and nothing ever sprouted. I kind of forgot about them till now, when I found my biggest koi dead in a net type sack. I was baffled as to how a net ended up in my pond. I pondered this for hours till I thought about those bulbs I tossed into the pond. So I went looking for them and found the remaining 2. Wouldn't you know it they are held together by a net.

    I am so upset at myself and the makers of these bulbs. All I wanted to do is find out if they know these bulbs don't work, I would also like to warn others not to buy them because they are a hazard to your fish. I purchased the 3 bulb kit.     I can't give less than 1 star!!!! So here it is, a week later and STILL NO ANSWERS. I have been getting the absolute runaround from Petco. I have yet to speak with the Dr. who gave my pet his vaccinations. Petco keeps saying THEY HAVE NO WAY TO CONTACT THE DR. How crazy is that!!!! At the vaccination clinic I was told all 3 shots WERE NOT GIVEN but the written records show that all 3 shots were given. I'm simply trying to find out WHAT SHOTS MY PET GOT!!!! I was given two follow-up appts because my pet needed a booster shot for the two shots he received on 4/23 plus one more appt for the SHOT HE DIDN'T GET. IF HE GOT ALL 3 SHOTS, THEN WHY DID I NEED 2 MORE FOLOW-UP APPTS.

    Petco KEEPS LYING SAYING THEY HAVE NO WAY TO CONTACT THE DR. (BULL----!) If the Dr is EMPLOYED BY PETCO, OF COURSE PETCO WOULD HAVE THE DR'S PHONE NUMBER. Petco insists the only way for me to talk to ANY DR (BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GUARANTEE IF THE SPECIFIC DR WILL BE THERE), is to show up in person at the next mobile clinic in Fontana. I shouldn't have to waste my time driving to Fontana when I can simply get an answer to my question over the phone. If Petco can't get me an answer, then I WANT A REFUND FOR SERVICES NOT RENDERED!!!! THIS IS ABSOLUTE BULL----!!!! What's next???? A lawsuit????

    I went into Petco in North Charleston, SC with my family to get 2 fish for my grandson. I went up to the cash register to see if I could get some help to get the fish and the girl with all the piercings in her face and her nose and her ears was so rude and short with me that I'm telling you I've never seen anything like it. She let me know real fast and in a very rude manner that she was the only one on the floor and that her manager was in the back unloading a truck and that it would be a long long time before we could buy any fish so I looked my family and told them to just,"Let's go to Petsmart." I would rather spend my money where it's appreciated.

    I have had several bad experiences with PETCO customer service. Their same day delivery service is just awful and I will no longer use this service. There were two occasions when I placed an order for same day delivery, my order was never received. Their website is misleading and there is no guarantee that you will receive your order in the time frame that is stated on their website. They use Doordash for their deliveries, however there is no communication between them. I feel that their customer service is not willing to resolve the issue to meet the necessary needs of their customers.

    I went to Petco in Mesa Az off of Rio Salado by the Riverview theatre to get ear mite Mexican in comes in a kit. They didn't have any. What pet store doesn't have ear mite medicine? Seen a flyer for walk in weekdays between 2 pm and 6 pm offered teeth cleaning ear cleaning and others. I rushed my mechanic to get my car done because my poor dog had gotten dirt in her ear and it was bothering her terribly. I had called to make sure someone was there. I get there at 415, was told they couldn't see her because there was 2 in front of me then their excuse was no hot water. If they offer a service they should do what they say. It was obvious they wanted to just go home early.

    Now it's too late to go to a vet. The hospital is too expensive. My poor dog has to go through another day of shaking her head constantly. I will freak if I go there tomorrow at 3pm and they make an excuse. My dog had a bath and I tried washing her ear. I am so mad. The woman was acting rude. I remained nice.     I brought my Chihuahua, Bella, to Petco in Slidell, LA for grooming for the first time at PetCo. After 3 hours I was called to pick her up. I was handed the grooming bill and asked to go to the front desk to pay. She is a small dog, so I carry her in a pet bag/purse. I left her bag and went to the front of the store, which is out of sight of the grooming salon (which would be better named Nightmare Behind Tinted Windows). After paying, I returned to see my dog sitting inside her bag, rather than on a leash so I could see her hair cut and nails painted. I should have been suspicious at this point. When I brought her home, She could hardly walk and was favoring her left, back leg. I called the salon manager who told me that if she was hurt, I could take her to Banfield Pet Hospital, where PetCo had an insurance policy to pay for my visit. This was an absolute lie. Banfield and PetCo have no affiliation.

    The salon manager also stated that she was not an employee of PetCo, that she was a subcontractor, which is not true. I am not sure if she knows to come inside when it is raining. She appeared to know nothing. How she became the manager, was she the only one who had not cut off her finger YET? I spoke to the Regional Manager, who honestly stated that the store violated PetCo's Protocol on THREE occasions. (1) If, as the salon manager stated after my call the dog slipped in the salon, they should not have accepted an injured dog for grooming services. (2) If she slipped within the salon, they should have notified me. (3) My dog should have been brought to me on a leash, not placed in her bag, so I could see her cut, nails, etc., what I paid for, and to see her standing. I do appreciate the honestly of the regional manager and he sent the claim to Liberty Mutual, so I could be reimbursed.

    Liberty Mutual has denied my claim and I am stuck with a $4,000 bill. I have had to modify my house with runners (rugs) so she can get better traction to walk within my home. Please don't trust your pet with this company. Continue to look on Consumer Affairs, PETA, and you will find many cases of abuse, neglect, and even deaths at PetCo's grooming salons across the nation.

    Y'all need to fix your online grooming scheduling! Over booking/double booking and expecting your groomers to magically get 2 or more animals done in the time it takes to get one done is ridiculous!     I went to Petco/Vetco on 14 March located in Dedham, MA for a follow up appointment for our dog. I was thrown out as were my two toddlers and dog, without receiving care. Allegedly, and this is no joke, I was supposed to infer from 'See you there!' in a standard reminder message that I was actually supposed to drop what I was doing and immediately confirm the ... er, confrimed appointment, or else? We happen to use a transcription service and the presentation of the real message had no effect. Out on our tuckus for a proveable lie. I assumed that this was a one off, a random hooligan that Petco would want to be aware of so they can fix it. When I reported what happened? Nothing. The detailed someone to handle it who made it very clear she had no intention of discussing what happened. Subsequent examiantion of reviews indicate that the problem was previously reported and, as above, ignored.

    When we escalated the report, the ostensible manager overseeing the tossing out of toddlers decided to unload in a public forum with a series of bombastic lies, leaked falsified details of the altercation. He began just making up random and clearly inaccurate bromides while hurling abuse and insults. This is their management? Petco apparently has a senior manager who believes he is in imaginary abusive relationships with customers and, when we do not allow him to violate personal and professional boundaries, will lash out. In this case, the refusal to give him immediate details of our wheareabouts and unable to handle the reality of being prioritized somewhere below my real spouse and children? That was sufficient to initiate this abusive cycle.

    Reporting this to Petco has had no impact. Worse, Petco attempted to have the review removed from google (a decision that google has since reversed after explanation of the above behavior). Apparently, Petco is well aware of this behavior but believes that it is easier to cover up than it is to correct. Although I have initiated appropriate steps in recovering the damages created by this hooliganism, I remain highly concerned by Petco's refusal to acknowledge what is going on.

    It is clear that someone in their system desire to utilize bait and switch for purposes of abusing random customers. Unaware, as I was, someone else will waltz in and be exposed to this guy's monumental temper and unrestrained abuse. The enabling of a constant stream of gaslighting and justification that being angry at you kids being tossed out based on a provable lie is ... a failure to use honey? The bait is pet services and supplies. The switch is the exposure to these guys and their abusive behavior. Customers should be very careful using Petco in the greater MA area.

    I went to Cadillac Michigan Petco and purchased a rat in February and on my way home, my black and white rat started constantly sneezing so I waited a day then called Petco up, they told me to take her back to the store and they'll take her to the veterinary clinic. I took her back once I got up to Cadillac. I got Nala back in mid March and once I held her she started the sneezing again, not as bad. But I really don't think the vet gave her anything strong enough to rid her of the upper respiratory infection. I also have another rat and now she's sick too. Petco sells sick animals as the employees don't let you observe the animals, before they start scooping them into a box for you.

    I will not be using Petco anymore. My dog got exposed to fleas. My vet wrote a prescription and told me to take it to Petco to get filled. I did that. The Vetco personnel took the script and entered it into their system, took my money, and said I would have it in a couple of days. This was on March 17, 2025. I received an email instructing me to mail in the script to the Petco Verification Team. There was no reason as to why. I called Petco, and Vetco, customer service and asked why. They really could not even come up with any type of answer. I mailed the prescription in. Petco has had the prescription for two weeks.

    This morning I called customer service to find order status. She called the pharmacy. She was told they were not filling it because my vet used auto signing rather than scribbling his signature. Again, this could and should have been dealt with at the store when I took the prescription in. But Petco pharmacy personnel just sat on the prescription and did nothing. No notification by text, email, or phone. I did check my spam file. Petco used to be a professionally run organization, but not anymore. I am now done with Petco. I have already spoken to my vet about better alternatives than Petco for filling pets' prescriptions.

Why the manager let this employee speak to my daughter the way she did and not correct the lady is unbelievable.     I have shopped at Petco in Delafield for over a decade- already, I know they aren’t par to the local natural pet food stores- but I’ve shopped there for various supplies, and a couple cute lil beta fish we’ve had over the years. Today was an experience out of the Twilight Zone. We have beta fish- one we’ve had for years, and the other that we had for 3 1/2-4 years recently died. We finally decided it was time to replace our little Zoso. So I re-set up the tank early this am, and we took our 2 year old to pick out a new one.

    Initially, we were asked if we needed help, and we said no, because we’ve done this before, and have all the supplies. Once the first girl walked away, we were quickly approached by another (Liz), asking how big the tank was- it’s 2.5 gal (which, for those of you that have betas, is actually a quite solid size (the store sells 1 gal ‘beta’ tanks)- then she asked when the tank was set up- I answered ‘this morning,’ to which she said “it needs to run at least 2 days” (well, since the beta’s tiny Tupperware they sell it in would need to sit on the counter next to it overnight to acclimate temps, that would be plenty time by tomorrow)- then, she asked if it has a heater (the tanks they sell do not have heaters)- I told her no, but we keep our home over 70 degrees, and we’ve never been told by staff here that a beta needs a heater.

    After her giving us her opinion on the matter, she walked away and I said to my husband, ‘Wow… Back off, what the heck, none of these Tupperware are heated.’ She likely heard me, and wasn’t pleased, but what happened next was mind blowing- We picked a fish and headed to the register, where the cashier (Beverly) asks: “Juliette, are these the people?” Immediately I’m confused as to what’s happening. Then, Juliette starts radio-ing whoever else like she’s the FBI, and it’s time to call in SWAT. It was insane.

    I told them we’ve had beta fish for over a decade and they live happily for years in our home. She asks “how many years?” (Are we for real right now!?) I said, “each have lived about 4 years. We don’t have heaters, but our home is over 70 degrees.” Then I asked: “Do you put these guys in heated tanks at store close?” Here’s her awesome answer: “No, but that’s why we keep it so warm in here.”!!! The other girl says: “we do water changes.” I said- “water changes and a heater aren’t the same thing.” Then Juliette says “we’re not saying you can’t buy the fish.” I’m like, are we joking right now?! I told her “I don’t want to buy the fish anymore, or anything else from your store- ever- but I would like to speak with a manager” (as my 2 year old is starting to get upset).

    They tell me that the woman in the back (Liz), IS the manager. So I asked for the number to someone else, like director, or regional manager. They had none (“we don’t have numbers, do we?”). They eventually gave us a number to customer service, and we left fishless and dumbfounded at what the heck just happened. Clearly, we called and reported the experience. We were treated like vandals or criminals, all for not heating a beta tank- which they also DON’T DO! We will love the heck out of a new beta from somewhere else. This place has lost us as customers, and should really reign in their staff to know where their lane ends. Thanks for totally ruining a nice family moment.

    Every time we go in there seems to be some kind of tech issue happening with the computers and it makes check out such a long process, which is super annoying. The only pro is the people are always super super nice. Unfortunately, the store is also on the opposite side of town from me and I work long hours so I decided to start having it delivered.

    Not only did it come in a mangled box, but the cat food bag inside was ripped so there’s all this free-flowing cat food in the box, and I have no idea how long it’s been like that.     I took my dog to get groomed and was charged extra for brush out $7 and materials $5.99. All the hair was cut off my dog so she didn’t need brushing. We have been getting our pets groomed at Petco for many years and have never been charged for these 2 items.     Don’t waste your time. The adoption partner person I spoke to didn’t seem to hear me, or care, when I talked about my experiences raising kittens. They treated me like I was an idiot who knows nothing about owning and responsibly caring for a pet. The whole conversation (more like a lecture) was demeaning, infantilizing, and ridiculous and then ended with them needing permission from my property management association.

    What they fail to understand while giving a lengthy diatribe on how to care for a rescued animal, is that in their attempt to “find a good home” they are turning people away with their overbearing, erroneously judgmental approach. Also, when researching the rescue partner where the pet would be adopted from, the website is odd and appears to be fake. When calling the store to discuss my experience and the odd website, the manager was dismissive and defensive of the store’s rescue partner. PetCo, not a good look. Overall, very unpleasant experience.

    Went to Petco today in fountain Hills to buy a couple goldfish for my granddaughter. A worker by the name of Debby was supposed to be helping us. Before she would give us the fish she was arrogantly asking question after question about the temperature of the water the size of the tank, whether the tank had water in it for how long and on and on and on, and I’m like what’s with all the questions? We just want two goldfish. She’s had the tank for three years and the water was in it running and clean. I said what’s with all these questions and she started screaming at us about protecting animals… Mind you my daughter has autism and my granddaughter just started crying. Make a long story short, after seeing my kids so upset I lost it and started screaming right back. We left and I’ll be calling corporate. Fountain Hills is a tough market to do business in and with these attitudes, this fountain Hill store will be closed down soon.

    We had taken our dog for the first time to be groomed here and asked for a teddy bear cut, groomer said she could do that. My husband picked up our dog and it was a poodle cut. I called and said that if she couldn’t do the cut she should have said so instead of misleading us. They gave us a refund. We called yesterday before 11 and got an appointment for the next day at 9 am (poodle cut was fine). I received a text from the manager after 10 pm that evening saying they had read the notes in our file and they cancelled our appointment. Unacceptable! They could have told us that when we called (she read our notes and booked the appointment).

    After reading other reviews, they cancel if you complain 12 hrs later. We order online from PETCO and pick up in store all the time. I have cancelled all my orders (recurring) and deleted my account and blocked the #s that text me, I will not spend any money at this store again. We wanted to shop local and chose the wrong store. We will go back to Petsmart and Chewy.

    Terrible grooming service. Do not take your pets here! I have taken my poodle here twice, and each time they have ignored my instructions and completely shaved her. I take care of my poodle's fur, and she is NEVER matted. Both times I took her there, she was shaved, and I was told it was because she had matting. This is a blatant lie, and I suspect the groomer just wanted to save time by shaving her. I purposefully made sure that she was brushed out before taking her to her appointment so I could avoid a repeat of our last appointment. Moreover, I maintain my poodle's coat with frequent brushing, coconut oil, and leave in conditioner.

    Today, I took her there and made sure to specify the LONGEST coat length they offered and to cut “leg warmers” into her leg fur (puffy fur at the bottom, less fur at the top). Once again, she was shaved ALL OVER and I was told it was because she was matted. Moreover, her face was left looking scraggly, with longer bits of fur here and there. Even worse, there is a patch near her snout shaved DOWN TO HER SKIN! I don't frequently leave scathing reviews, and I'm by no means a "Karen". I have worked in customer service, and I understand that sometimes mistakes are made. I was willing to take her back today because I wanted to give them another chance. However, it is clear that this was not a mistake and that it was done deliberately. I strongly advise anyone NOT to go there for dog grooming.

    Today had an appointment at the Copperfield Petco for 8 AM. I arrived at 7:50 AM.. By 855. There were about six other pet moms with their dogs waiting for the store to be open.. The groomers two of them were there exactly at 8 AM. We waited and waited. The groomers tried to get in touch with the manager who finally told them that they would be there in about 15 minutes.. A manager and another employee arrived at 8:24 AM. Not a word of an apology for making us wait outside for 24 minutes. The groomers themselves were fantastic and were very apologetic.. They had been asking for the store keys for quite some time as apparently this manager is late often.. Do you want to store or the groomers open so late it pushes everybody’s appointment to a later time which is very unfair for us if we rely on them to be there and to have our pets ready at a decent time.     First, I do not write reviews unless it’s the worst situation, like this one at Petco. I placed an order over a month ago for a vibration bark collar that comes with a remote control. 2 weeks later, I received the collar but no remote. I called Petco, who’s agents are clearly not in the US, they said they needed pictures after I explained everything. I sent 15 photos to them. A week later I received an email stating “Thank you for your patience while we still are trying to figure out what went wrong with your order.“

    Another week later, same email! It’s over 4 weeks now since placing this order for an item that referenced as ‘in stock’. I called them again and since the first time I called, they offered me a replacement menu or refund, I chose replacement back then but now I want a refund. I explained everything, requested a refund since nothing has been done and now she said the best thing she can do is try to get the vendor to refund me.

    They now won’t refund me, have no answer about what’s happening other than confirmation nothing been reshipped. I have to now call my bank to get the refund where they’ll cancel my card and I’ll have to wait for a new one. It’s absolutely ridiculous after over 30 days they’ve not got an answer and refuse a refund after they originally offered. I will NEVER shop at Petco again. Luckily I do have several other options.

    On February 13, 2025 I scheduled my pet Milo for a full service grooming appointment at 1:45 pm for the first time since I recently moved to the area. At the 3 hour mark, I had not received a call and decided to pop in just to check if he was ready. Receptionists proceeded to ask the groomer Melody if my pup was ready to which she replied with an attitude "I haven’t even gotten to him yet and I haven’t even called her!” The groomer that asked her came back and apologized that he wasn’t ready and I understood because they looked busy. After I left the store they called me 15 minutes later saying that my dog was ready for pick up.

    Upon arrival, Melody didn’t bring out Milo, another groomer did and they did it so fast I was unable to ask any questions. After pick up I noticed that my dog was limping. Throughout the night my dog was whining and crying out of pain and when I took him to his primary vet and was he told us that my dog’s leg was sprained; they must’ve pulled him too hard or he fell. He also told us that he needed to get X-rays done to rule out a fracture.

    It took 2 managers and 5 days later for Petco to provide X-rays. I took him to get his x-rays and the vet did not let me tell him what happened; he replied with “We heard what happened”. X-ray came back with a suspected fracture but they stated my dog was not limping since he wasn’t dragging his leg!! I don’t understand what kind of limping they expected!! Melody is still employed and they don’t want to tell me what happened. DON’T TAKE YOUR PETS THERE! MY PUP IS TRAUMATIZED!!! I really hope they get to the bottom of this and the groomer gets fired so no other dog under her care gets injured again!

    I took my little Pomeranian girl to the Petco groomers today. She looks amazing. The groomer named Ky O did an outstanding job! My little girl really responded well to her. That’s very important to us since she’s a rescue and has anxiety. I’ve been going to Petco for a few years now with my border collie. He only gets baths, no haircut. I was a little nervous leaving my girl, but was pleasantly surprised. I will def stick with Ky O from now on. This was the Lacey, WA location.

    If you want to be penalized for going in to the store to purchase their product with cash verses putting your debit/credit card information online (and picking up or shipping the product to your home) then this is the company for you! Reason for this review…I needed two cat calming collars ASAP and checked Petco’s site for a pack of two cat calming collars. I chose Comfort Zone 2 pack for $24.98 (see photo showing the product description and box online).

    Please note: There was no disclaimer that the price online was cheaper OR that purchasing in store was going to be more money OR that the company does not honor the online price, if charged differently in store. So after checking everything out, I sent my boyfriend to pick up the collars since he was going to be right next door to the Petco location that I had looked at for the collars and the fact that I needed them ASAP. I told him that after tax they would be $26.73 (see photo of the online amount after tax). He came back and said that he was charged $41.72 (see photo of the receipt).

    Seeing that he was charged 52% more than what was stated online, I immediately called customer service to explain what happened and see about getting my $14.99 difference back. While the customer service representative on the phone was cordial. She tried to explain that this overcharged amount was accurate because I purchased a 2 pack and the price I was seeing online was for only one collar. I corrected her and said that I was currently looking at the product online and it clearly said “pack of two” for $24.98, (said that I would send her a copy of the add if she didn’t see it online herself) then she tried to say it was always cheaper to buy items online verses in the store. I corrected her again and said no where on the site or product page does it state product online is cheaper verses in store. It only has states that if I auto refill, then it’s cheaper.

    She kept putting me on hold and came back to say that the only thing she could offer me was a $10 reward credit for my inconvenience (not even the amount they overcharged me for!) and I was welcome to buy the product online for the cheaper price and make another trip up to the store to pick it up or I could have it shipped to me and then I could easily return the overcharged one for a refund….seriously… what???

    Not only is this inconvenient, it’s flat out stealing from the consumer and not at trying to hide it. Where in the world is a $10 reward (which is bogus “money” to them) make up for the $14.99 actual cash, help for my “inconvenience”!?. seriously… keeping my money and the asking me to spend more so I could use my “$10 reward" not to mention the time to go back to the store, let alone the gas spent to make TWO trips, just so I can pick up an online order for the exact same product I originally bought in person.

    I’ve been a good customer to Petco, not only did I previously participate in their rewards program when I saw a deal or needed something quickly and while I have purchased things online (especially during Covid) but I took my 2 cats to the onsite vet clinic. Sadly that will no longer be the case. I’ll no longer be using their vet service or shopping in person or online, not if it’s clearly been explained to me that I’m going to be penalized for shopping “instore” with cash versus online with debit/credit card information. This is definitely a BUYER BEWARE WARNING situation!!

    On January 18, 2025, I took my pet to the PETCO on FM1960 near Atascocita for a bath, a trim around his jawline, and a facial cleaning. What should have been a routine grooming session turned into an absolute nightmare. When my daughter went to pick him up, she FaceTimed me, and I was shocked—my pet was completely unrecognizable. The groomer had shaved off all his hair, leaving his ears bare and looking as if they had been skinned. This was NOT what I requested, and to add insult to injury, the staff was rude, dismissive, and outright lied, claiming this was what I had asked for.

    I paid $100 for this botched grooming job, and instead of rectifying the situation, they told me to come back the next day to speak with the manager—who might not even refund my money. This level of incompetence and disregard for both pets and customers is unacceptable. If you care about your pet and your peace of mind, stay FAR away from this place!

After 6 months, I noticed that I do not shop as frequently for supplies and so I called to cancel the subscription of $9.99 per month. Now they advise that the monthly payment will continue until the end of the 1 year since starting, that is until July and that it is noted in the terms & conditions.     My Petco repeat delivery order for cat litter involved some mysteries. My first shipment came via FedEx, and I thought that would remain the delivery method. However, I was wrong. I confess I may have overlooked something in the written agreement. But it turned out that the next two deliveries came via DoorDash. I don't have anything against DoorDash, but I would normally tip them, and I wasn't expecting to tip for the delivery of my litter--I was caught off guard. More importantly, though, I do not provide gate codes for my complex unless I have ordered a delivery myself, directly, and Petco's system didn't allow me to use this security measure.

    For today's delivery, a text told me the litter was coming at 4 p.m. when in fact it came at around 12:30 p.m., and I was called for the gate code while I was in the middle of something important, and the interruption was distracting and inconvenient. When I did not respond with the gate code, the driver sent, via text, a link to a photo of the secure location where they had left the litter. I clicked on the link and received a "no Internet" message on my phone, even though I was able to log onto other Websites on the phone at the same time.

    For most of this time, I was on hold for 30 minutes waiting for a supervisor who could explain the reasons for this change in delivery service. This is not the worst ever problem I've had with deliveries, and the litter was in a spot where I could find it. I just feel that Petco needs to be more transparent about how its repeat delivery works.

    Most lousy place for dog grooming. Don't go there. You will be overcharged and very disappointed. My havenese puppy as you will see in photo was scalped and nothing will or has been done to make it right. Overcharged by 15$ so I have to pay for their clippers and cleanup plus disposal is what the extra was. Never again. If you love your pet don't go there.

    I went to a Vetco, which is Petco weekend clinic to get my puppies last shot and a Lepto vaccine. Told me to buy the package and prepay and the remaining boosters would be included in a month. After they took my $235 payment I told them I couldn't come back the following month. They told me, not a problem and to just make an appt. at the Watugua store and easily get the final vaccines. BTW, I had to get the vaccines between 12/2 and 12/9 or they would be useless. I called the store and they refused to give my puppy the meds. A girl kept telling me I had to drive an hour away to get the vaccines. She didn't care about my pups date frame or I was told to go there. I asked for a manger, don't even bother. I filed a complaint, save it. Even though their store gave false info. they never would give her shots and I was told they don't refund packages.

    So after another complaint no one called back, I took my puppy somewhere else and paid $50 more. Because of their store employees mistakes, I wasted $50 more of my money. Because of their store employees, I paid for a package which couldn't be partially refunded so they kept my money for the vaccine/boosters they never injected. Ran me through the ringers with saying they were sorry and someone would call, took my money without giving the vaccines and didn't care about the welfare of my puppy. They are HORRIBLE!

    I bought a 16lb bag of Purina cat food from the Cary, NC Petco yesterday (12/13/2024) for $36. If I had had more time, I would have shopped around. I have shopped around since then and it looks like Petco is price gouging. I could have ordered it and had it show up at my front door for 25.18 plus tax via Amazon. I am not shopping at your store anymore. Shameful.

    Petco has the most unreliable website. They never have food in stock and if you got any kind of discounts and they cancel your order you lose out on all those coupons. They also if you had a coupon and you are forced to choose a backup item. They also don't apply them to it so you pay full price. They will find any way to make sure you can't get any discounts. I have more than one person. That lives in my house that buys dog food here and I feel like they don't offer enough to the customers that buy all the time.

    I am deeply disturbed by my experience with Petco's grooming department. My pet suffered both abuse and neglect during a recent visit, and I feel it is crucial to share this so others are warned. I had a bad feeling about the situation when I dropped off my animal. When I returned to pick my dog up, I could see the physical and emotional toll it had taken. My pet appeared extremely distressed, panting heavily, trembling, and traumatized, and his eyes sunken in. Angel R. was his groomer on that horrific Day!

    The grooming process seemed rushed and poorly handled. There was neglect regarding the quality of care, and my pet's well-being was not a priority. It became evident that the groomers failed to take necessary precautions or provide proper comfort during the grooming. The result was an anxious and physically hurt animal, who now associates grooming with fear and pain.

    This experience has left me heartbroken and angry. Petco's grooming department failed to provide the basic care and attention every pet deserves. I will never trust them with my animal again and strongly urge others to reconsider their decision to use their grooming services. My pet and I are still recovering from the abuse and neglect, and I am left with a sense of betrayal from a company I once trusted.

    On July 2024, I bought a defectively manufactured cat tree lounger. The stand broke off the base after a one time jump by my 10 lb cat. Petco management refused to exchange, give store credit, nor return to manufacturer to fix the cat tree. Due to their strict return policy they don’t guarantee their detective items.

    Two weeks ago I scheduled my dog for grooming and arrived for his appointment a few days ago. When we arrived the groomer, RAFFEAL, was not in the area, so we had to wait for him. When he arrived I didn't even know, because he never acknowledged us, when I saw him behind us I asked if he was Raffeal and he said. He immediately asked if I had proof of Rabies vaccine, and I did. A copy from the Vet, dated 9/24 for my dog's last rabies vac. That wasn't good enough for Raf, so I called the Vet, and she also told him the date was valid, and that it was not due again until 9/2027. That was not good enough for Raf either. He continued to argue back and forth with me stating that I needed more proof!

    He then turned his back to me, to face his co-workers, and whispered, "I'm not going to be able to do this," and walked out without any explanation. I turned and asked his coworker where he went, and they said he's not going to do the service. I could not believe it! The service and experience was rude, upsetting, poor customer service, showed incompetence, ignorance, and disrespect, to say the least. I do not recommend Petco for grooming service. The lead tech offered to reschedule the appt but I was definitely not willing, in fact I didn't want him to do anything with my dog after that experience, because clearly Raffeal and the Culver City store, on Sepulveda in Culver City, has issues. That was grounds for termination on any job.

    Took our beloved Jack 8 years old jack russel mixed dog in for not eating and trouble breathing. We took him in on Nov 4, 2024 to our surprise his doctor/vet Mrs ** was not working there any longer. She found that he had diabetes so Jack saw an unknown lady vet. Which we told the Vet his history with diabetes that he was taking ** twice a day and eating their food they recommended which he was doing good until Nov 4, 2024. I feel the new vet he was seeing didn't check him properly like Mrs ** did. We brought Jack in because he could not eat and breathe. I feel they should have done an x-ray for stomach and air passage to see if was blocked. But instead they took a blood test and the unknown vet said all his organs were fine! But was dehydrated. They gave him IV fluids. Said, "Take him home and give half of insulin due to he was eating."

    Call back Petco told them Jack had no change and was getting worse, they told me he must have been worst the they thought to take to other animal hospital. We didn't make it. Jack Passed away Nov 6,2024. I would never take any of my dogs or cats to Petco anymore. I'm so heartbroken and mad if and when I get another Jack I never go there for nothing. I Don't recommend taking your dog or cat to Petco animal hospital. Please take to a real known vet. They never called back to check on Jack like Jack's first vet ** did. They don't care that he passed on. Please ask more questions if you're not sure about the Vet. Reseach the Vet checking your beloved dog or cat.

    I have a golden doodle that looked like a teddy. While checking in, I noticed a groomer be rude to one of the dogs she was grooming. Lucky me, that was my dog’s groomer, (Petco in south Tampa). I had told her what I wanted, which was a trim and for him to still look like a teddy. It was his first grooming experience. She told me that his fur is knotted and that she can’t brush it but that she had to cut it short, and that she would leave his tail and face looking like a teddy. She was very condescending during our conversation, and the other groomers could tell she was agitated with me and refused to do the cut I requested. I told her what I wanted. 4+hr later, his fur completely shaved off. The fur on top of his head was so uneven. My pup was acting like if he was treated badly and was lethargic the entire ride home and the rest of the night.

    Even my friend noticed how he wasn’t acting like his usual self. He was quiet and he was covering his face. Doodles are known for being very happy and loving. They act like humans sometimes which makes it easy to read their body language. These groomers need to be taught how to be respectful to the customers and to the dogs. I know for a fact, she purposely and maliciously shaved my dog’s entire fur off because of our drop-off interaction. She’s lucky I didn’t make a huge scene when I picked up my dog. He was unrecognizable!! I even said “THAT’s MY DOG!????? Are you sure!! He looks like a rat!" I attached the before and after photos. NEVER AGAIN! She needs some better training. She shouldn’t be working with dogs until she has completed proper customer interaction classes and dog care.

    I had a unique situation and attempted to connect with someone who would assist me appropriately. I had shopped at a Petco out of town, 40 miles from my home, as I was in the area for a vet appointment. I was buying wet and dry cat food, flea meds and some bird accessories. During the cash register transaction the employee was discussing the vital pet options. I listened to her and was not really paying attention and two things happened:

    1. I noticed a horrible smell of garbage which I thought was coming from the store itself, so I ignored.

    2. I was not paying attention to all my bags and where they were.

    I returned home after the shopping, again, home is 40 miles away. I found the smell had been following me in the car and finally determined it was the box of wet cat food I had purchased. I opened the box and discovered an open container of food, the garbage smell, and fly eggs throughout the box. I immediately called the store and they wanted me to return the box to their store, 40 miles away. When I indicated my 40 mile commute for this return they told me I could use the store in my home city. I did this, was able to get a box that was not smelly, nor infested.

    After this whole mess, I attempted to find the other items I purchased that day, only to discover I left a bag behind. I called to store to verify, and they said, "Yep, we have it and put it aside with your name on it." I told them of my dilemma and wondered if it would be possible to obtain a refund on the items. I would then happily buy the same products in my home city's store. They said they could not refund me over the phone as they had to have the card to refund in the store itself. I thought that rather strange and wondered why they could not do that. I also told them about the fly infested food. Received a sorry, and that ended the conversation.

    The next day I went to my local store to see if they could assist me with the refund, as they could call that store and verify that indeed the items were still in their hands, and she would be able to verify my card. But she said she could not do a refund for another store. I left... very frustrated. I also reached out to the Petco customer service website with a similar reaction. I am unsure as to why, any of the employees at any of the Petco stores or their customer service web site, could not refund me the amount of these left behind purchases, using the same card that was part of the original transaction. Each transaction shows the last 4 digits of the card used. They had the times still in the store. They have my receipt. They also had my information on record as they were kindly able to identify the bag I left behind as mine.

    I've worked several decades in customer service. This was a simple enough transaction. I had spent $300.00 on that shopping spree, and was asking for $80.00 refund THAT I HAD PLANNED to use in the other Petco store to purchase the EXACT same items. Looking at my PetCo rewards you will also see that I have spent a great deal of money in the Petco stores in the past. But if this is the way that Petco wishes to deal with refunds, albeit a bit unusual, I will no longer be shopping at Petco. I will also be removing my dog from the pet grooming services.

    Don't go here for large amounts of crickets. They are 17€ all the way so say you want 500 crickets that's 70$. If you follow where the crickets come from they are 27 for 1000. Corporate rip off all the way right there. They have no care for the animals and the animal's caretaker!

    I recently took my 65-pound dog to PetCo in Denton MD for a nail trim, and the experience was highly distressing for both of us. My dog, already fearful of nail trims, was placed on a small table with two leashes tightly secured around his neck to prevent movement. This restraint method, for a dog his size, was far from suitable. He kept pulling back and forth, visibly anxious, and the technician seemed unequipped to handle his strength or calm his fear. She twisted his paws in her attempt to cut his nails, which only made him more frantic and appeared to cause him pain. Eventually, he became so distressed that he defecated on the table.

    The technician attempted to call another staff member for assistance at least twice, but no one showed up, leaving us in a chaotic and unsafe situation. At one point, my dog tried to jump off the table in panic, making me genuinely afraid that he could seriously injure or even strangle himself. This was my breaking point; I entered the room, told the technician to stop, took my dog, and left. The entire experience was not only unprofessional but felt unsafe and traumatizing for my dog. Dog owners, please be very cautious when leaving your beloved pets for grooming here, as the staff seemed untrained and unequipped to handle dogs appropriately.

He berated me in front of my daughter and other customers, yet double charged for one item then overcharged for an item clearly marked down.     I visited a veterinarian facility associated with Petco and after unnecessary tests I was told exactly what I told the vet was the problem with my pet then I was prescribed an antibiotic that I was overcharged $25.76 for the same exact medication provided by Petco to the facility associated with Petco.     Have purchased Vetmedin for the Dog from them for better than a year and a half. They charged my credit card twice 8/3 and 8/4 for the same order and never shipped the order. Contacted Petco Customer Service and was told "Oh we made a Mistake"!! Took them better than 2 and 1/2 weeks to credit the overcharge. After that issue I never received the first order. Called customer service again and they tell me the Vet never approved the refills. Called the Vet and they sent me verification that they authorized the refills on 8/5, 8/6 and 8/8. Called Petco back again and they tell me we should have the authorization tomorrow. Called back again on 9/1 and was advised I needed to place the order again as they only keep them for two weeks. Did so and was on the phone with the Vet again who sent another authorization for 6 refills.

    As of today I now receive an e-mail they cannot ship the needed medication as they never received the authorization to refill. Now to wait another 2-3 weeks for a refund. They are quick to charge your credit card and hold your money yet they do not ship the product. Furthermore the folks answering the phones do not speak good English and you can barely understand anything they are saying. Nothing but a dis-functional organization that I have spent thousands of dollars with. Don't waste your time with these clowns and look at their reviews before considering any transaction with them. THEY ARE AN ABSOLUTE JOKE!!!!

    I place an order online for same day delivery before 5pm which is the cut off time. I was able to choose my delivery time which was 6pm to 9pm. And my order was now delivery and when I call the store on Oakland Park the customer service rep was rude, told me he didn't see my order to call customer service then hung up. So I called customer service they told me I didn't place my order in time which was a lie because I have confirmation said when they received my order which was at 4:46pm on 9/5/24.     I am appalled that the Petco store policy in Carson City, NV will not allow a customer to use their restroom. I was told to go to another store next door to use their restroom. I would think that PetCo makes enough money to supply toilet paper in the restroom for their customers.     I went to buy a turtle from Petco location 1313 in San Mateo on Aug 19, 2024. I got everything (tank, light, food...for the turtle), the sales girl recommended which added up over $450. During the contact I asked her questions about the age and gender of the turtle I picked, she could not provide any of the info, so I got a turtle with no any form of identification, or birth record, or the legality of their vendor. When I asked her who was their vendor because I wanted to find out more info about my new pet, she gave me three letters "BPD" said that was their vendor. In that same afternoon, I looked up "BDP" on Google, it shows no pet vendor named this but it showed they represent "Borderline Personality Disorder". I suffer from a mental problem called Bipolar, which is very similar to BDP. I feel insulted and hurt.

    Also, during the consultation before I paid I pointed out to her that in at least three tanks for their fishes, located right next to the turtle tank, I saw dead, partial fish bodies stuck in the water filters, where other alive fishes swim by, in the same tank. That scene almost made me vomit, and there was a mom and a little girl shopping there too. When I pointed out this problem to her, she just said "Oh" and turned around. If I was a mom, I will feel furious because I bring my kid here for picking up a pet but if my kid saw this disgusting scene I will definitely worry my young kid will get negative impact in their mind. Obviously, this store does not care, neither the cleaners of the place they keep their animals, which are also lives like us humans, nor the impact that might do to the young kids. But I still got and paid for all she recommended and I made a $25 donation at check out for Petco. She recommended me a future 15% off membership and I got it too.

    When I got home, I found that the food for the turtle is expiring in Oct 2024. Based on my own online research, seems that these turtles must all be purchased from vendor with a license and must show they obtained (fishing) the turtles legally. While none of the Petco employees I contacted with could provide me a full name of the vendor except "BDP", which is a mental disease similar to what I suffer from. The GM even said I was yelling over phone but actually I just politely but firmly asked for what I deserve to know. This GM gave me a number to call for info and it connected me to Petco customer service, again, they know nothing about their vendor.

    The agent I talked to over the call promised me someone who can help will call me back the next day. I waited for 24 hours, nobody contacted me, so I called Petco customer service again. They asked for my email address for follow-up, that was 4 pm, Aug 20, I told her I will only wait until 9 pm the time the store closes. Now 9 pm, I received ZERO email ZERO call back from any of them. I request full amount refund, for first, I don't trust their service or product no more, based on how they treated consumers; second, I am very angry about how they treat lives, they keep alive and dead fishes in the same tanks and when I pointed out to the sales assistant she showed she did not care.

    Also, based on my online research combined with my observation on the turtle I got, this poor turtle is very unhealthy because his shell has a lot of pits and cracks, which indicated this turtle` health condition is bad, and according to his rings on the scutes, he should be around 6-7 years old (the sales assistant told me they got this turtle a few weeks ago) and he should be a male based on the shape and length of his tail. The employee is not well trained, not responsible, nor respectful. So I request full refund, but I still want to take care of this turtle for his health, so I can step back to request the full refund minus the cost of the turtle itself, if needed. I told the customer service all these and they said the conversation was recorded and will be handled, a proven lie because I called twice, no one followed up back to me as they promised.

    I placed an online order for aquarium parasite and frozen foods from Petco today. My delivery was scheduled for 6:30 pm delivery, at 6:31 I received an email explaining that my order would be delayed, and I noticed that the delivery address was wrong. After reading the email, I contacted customer service for the company to gain clarity regarding next steps and to let them know that the delivery they listed in the email was wrong, the agent was helpful in confirming that the delivery address would be corrected.

    Now it is 10:50 pm, no delivery received and when I go to the Petco website to check the status, it still shows processing. Hmmm, so I decided to use their chat to get information about my order and Angell the representative basically chatted with me as if I were stupid, he had the nerve to tell me store delivery hours. First of all, I am very aware of what time the store opens and closes and my concern for ETA about my order that I paid for did not require a lesson in store delivery hours. Why advertise same-day delivery if that is not what you can accomplish. But I honestly felt insulted by the rep, how dare you talk to me like that. We deliver until 9 pm, it is almost 11pm, that should have never been in the conversation. I asked for an ETA not education on delivery hours. I asked that my order be cancelled.

    My dog has two medications that were delivered every month, and then for some reason I was getting the medications every week and being charged nearly $100 a week. I called Petco customer service to fix the issue, and was assured it was fixed. I cancelled the next shipment and even received a confirmation email… and the NEXT day received an email stating another shipment would be arriving soon, and another $80 out of my bank account. They only cancelled one medication, after confirming both medications were cancelled. I was able to cancel all medications on their website and removed my bank account information. I wish I had read reviews before I used their pharmacy.

    Horrible experience with online order shipping that I've never had anywhere else. I ordered 50 boxes of canned cat food, each box containing 12 cans. I received 50 CANS, not boxes. I called and they put in an order for the remaining 46 boxes. Then only 22 boxes show up. I call again, and they put in an order for the remaining 24 boxes. Then only 2 boxes show up - guess they thought again that 24 cans would suffice? I called again, and they said they need to investigate. So this is still an on-going issue.

    None of the however many boxes I've received included anything like shipping slip or invoice that shows the contents of the shipping box. Logistics is a disaster, and call center as well. Calls get dropped, orders get mysteriously cancelled. I don't know how many times I had to call to get to this point. Guess this is not the end and I'll have to see where this 'investigation' ends up.

    Ordered dog’s flea/tick prescription and it still isn’t here 10 days later! Usually we use 1-800 pet meds and get same RX in a few days, usually faster than I can get to the vet. Tried Petco since we recently had dog at Vetco, and they sent me an email link to refill dog’s RXs. Bad decision! Said to call the customer service number so I did only to be told that they would straighten it out and call me back in 24 to 48 hours. I never heard back so I called them after 48 hours and spoke with a customer service person who disconnected me. I called back and they had no history of the order I placed so I reordered everything and hopefully I'll get it because one of the items is a specialized food for my cat so he can digest his food and he really needs to eat so it would be nice if they weren't disorganized. It shouldn't take this long to place an order and they still have to contact the vet to approve these items. What should have taken less than a week has turned into several weeks.

    Ordered online as a guest, my card was charged and I was given a delivery date 3 days ago. Nothing has arrived to date so I call and inquire, where I am told I never placed an order!     The first and only experience with Petco as there will not be a second go around. Ordered online 3 bags of Diamond's dry dog food $115.... When my items continued to PENDING in my bank account for days on end, I looked at the Petco app to see what the hold up was. I did not see anything other than it was in PREPPING mode still for a week before it was ever shipped. When it FINALLY shipped, it still did not arrive with FedEx on time. Fed Ex status continue to change from Arriving between 10-2:50 pm to the end of day and then never even showed up. Because of this delay I had to go buy a bag to hold them over for the week of no food from Petco and it was a considerable distance. I would not have even ordered online had I not already been very sick for 5 weeks already. Not trying to get anyone sick by staying at home. I don't recommend ordering from Petco before any holiday or otherwise.

    What a very disappointing experience we had today with Petco and your groomer. We attended our appointment at 9:15am but the groomer didn't take our dog due to his cardiac condition. He said it was up to him and not up to the store to accept the dog. When we completed the appointment request last night on Petco's website we were asked if Peluchin had any medical condition and we said yes and listed those conditions, however Petco didn't tell us that based on those conditions the groomer could reject us once we had arrived at the store, which he did.

    He even told us, which made no sense and reflected his lack of customer service experience, if we had come to the store to make the appointment they would have told us they would not take our dog due to his medical condition, to which I responded Petco should have alerted us at the time of making the appointment online about the possibility of being rejected at the sole discretion of the groomer. This was a total waste of time driving all the way to your store and have the door slammed onto our faces.

    Additionally, after we had arrived and were waiting for the groomer, he arrived late, there was a dog on the other side of the glass that was being groomed to whom we said hello by waving my hand to which the groomer looked at us with a very unfriendly face as if we were bothering her. Like I said at the beginning this was a very disappointing experience. I had requested to speak to the store manager at 2:00pm, he/she didn’t call. PETCO never again for any of my 3 dogs.

    I don’t see how Petco’s deceptive pricing scheme can be legal. I purchased three items in the store which I had first located on their website (to confirm they carried it). All three were marked down significantly on the site but in the store, they were marked and rang up at the original higher prices. The manager assured me when I questioned the prices before getting in line that I just had to show the website pricing to the cashier to get the lower prices. If I hadn’t looked at website, I would never have known there existed a lower price. There was nothing marked Sale or Internet Discount by the items’ displays. There was no coupon or ‘Membership’ required. Basically IYKYK; if you don’t know, you get screwed. My $60 items came to about $20 less after I showed the cashier each item online. What a racket!! I won’t be shopping there again. At least pricing and sales are clear and honest on chewy.com and at PetSmart.

    Signed up for repeat delivery for cat litter. I was expecting a Chewy experience like Fed Ex or the like. No, they use door dash. We are a business so I wrongly assumed they would use business hours. Nope. They left it in front of the door on a Saturday when I messaged them many times telling them to NOT deliver or even pick up the order. I was mostly curious why it was door dash!

    I decided OK that is on me, my bad. They use door dash so let's make sure we only pick days we are in. Well that means that after 5pm they just toss it in front of the door. All the kitty litters were stolen. Which required me calling in and making a claim and having to wait for another delivery. I tried one last time and the delivery date fell on a Holiday and again another kitty litter left in front of the door and stolen, ON A HOLIDAY!!! So Petco says we will send a new one. I say OK I am open mon-fri 9-5pm, here it is 5:30pm. Door dasher just picked up my order.

    This is the worst service I have ever run into. To add salt to the wound, Petco is charging me on top of the price $7 for same day delivery. I also noticed the in store price compared to the online I am paying $13 more for the hassle? No more Petco. Chewy is who I am going to try next. Petco is trying to be like the online services and FAILING in the most hilariously bad way. Avoid this garbage.

    My wife and I buy a lot of supplies for various pets each month. Recently, we needed some specialty food and vitamin products. When we looked them up, on Petco's site, they had a cheaper price than anyone else (it seemed). I took screenshots and we went to the Hendersonville store and purchased everything. After looking at the receipt, we soon realized we were charged double for those items. I called the store and talked to the girl who answered. She was extremely matter of fact and explained that "sometimes" they match the prices on THEIR website, IF you have screenshots (which we did). She was quick to point out that we could not return the items and discount was only available at time of initial purchase. To say she was rude and condescending is an understatement.

    I suspect Petco does this to many customers, but we just happen to catch it. It's a bait and switch tactic. On top of that, they charge you for the plastic bag (sack) to carry your purchases out in! They explain it's "California law", even though this is Tennessee. So beware fellow pet owners. There are much more honest pet supply stores in the area who are friendly, have up-front pricing, give you a bag and appreciate your business, but avoid Petco! Again, we buy a ton of pet products monthly and make constant donations through the local stores for the shelters. We won't do it here again. You've been warned!

    My pet Lexi visited the store in Palm Bay today (May 16th, 2024). The hospital office manager (Bethanie) was the most unprofessional and disrespectful employee of authority that have encountered in a while. She has no manners! When I questioned a medication- she proceeded to tell me about her budget. When I attempted to redirect her about discussing a budget - she mentioned explaining to me differently by saying “I will not be ordering a med for one dog” so we are speaking of heartworm meds here. It’s not my fault that you had trash expired medications!!! She threw her hand up and exited the room. She did not apologize. She showed no class or empathy. I did speak to her manager but I’m going to corporate. I am just unhappy and I am a nurse - you can not act that way. She has to know better.     On Sun May 5,2024 My Great Pyrenees coated has been ruined and my dog skin is burned in many places at Petco Frisco west store. They should know you cannot shave a double coated dog. I paid for bath and haircut to get a clean and even hair + paid for the fur deshedding deluxe and I was told 15 more because the size. One worker there told the stylist my dog required to be shaved on the back and some spots under the ears .. He even said rest of the coat was okay. But instead the lady shaved ALL his hair and most critical .. he burned him in so many places.

    We arrived at 8 am and I was calling after 12 pm because not getting called to pick up my dog and no one was answering So by 2 pm we decided to go and realized they may have not called before waiting for the dog to get the burns better and the dog to be less stressed. They even said they couldn’t cut the nails because dog was stressed but of course after all burns .. how you will behave .. When we picked up the dog we were in shock but didn’t realized it was so bad till getting home and realized he was very burned to the point I have to go to vet today. My son who is the owner but out of the city right now asked us how we let that to happen.

    My dog was injured, and the General Manager Lied! Petco Grooming in Strongsville, Ohio. I noticed hours after grooming service that our dog had blood where she was sitting. I checked under her tail and there was a slash and clipper mark under the slash her vagina was red and a little swollen. I called Petco and asked the groomer, Leah, if there was something that they would recommend I put on her vagina, because it looks irritating, and noted the cuts at the base of her tail, and top of her anus by her vagina. The Groomer sincerely apologized, told me to use ** on the area, but if it got worse to take her to the vet, and "Petco will pay for it".

    We ended up taking Chloe to the vet, they explained that the clippers were hot, and burned her as well as cut her. This led her to lick herself which also irritated the area, and she could either have a UTI or Vaginitis stemming from the injury. We had to put her on antibiotics. I contacted the GM at the Strongsville Petco, Matt, who told us that Petco will not be reimbursing the vet visit. Matt stated that he had spoken to the vet and understood that the injury was not 100% Petco's fault, and could have been due to a preexisting condition. I called Matt back, and he explained the same thing, and noted that because hair was removed from the vagina, she could started to lick the area and given herself a UTI.

    I noted that when I dropped Chloe off, her Vagina was normal, and after I had picked her up, it was red and swollen. Matt doubled down stating that to reimburse me, he had to submit a claim, and this would not be covered unless the vet stated that Petco 100% was at fault. I told him the vet had in fact told us this was due to clipper burn, and the cuts from the groom. He told me he did not know who he had spoken to at the Vet, but I could call them back and ask them to speak to him again. I called the Vet, who confirmed "NO ONE FROM PETCO HAS CALLED US!". I asked if they were sure, and they replied "Yes!. Legally we are not allowed to disclose patient information without your consent, all of our employees follow the same process. If Petco would have called and requested to discuss information, we would have called you to ask for permission to disclose the information with Petco. No one has called us to inquire about your dog."

    The vet confirmed also, if they would have called, "I would have explained to them that this was from the clippers being to hot more than likely burned her vagina skin, and licking her injury made it worse." The Vet called Matt after I got off of the phone with them, and Matt called again and stated that the vet told him it was not 100% unequivocally Petco's fault, so he would need to consult his Regional Manager to see if there is anything they can do. Not only did they injure my dog, but the GM is lying to us as well. 100% Unethical- They had no issue charging us money, but when if comes to addressing injuries that they have caused, they are not so quick to resolve.

    I've used Petco for years. Recently we ordered a cage as we were adopting another Chinchilla from the Newington Humane Society. Waited for the new cage to come in. Once we had a delivery date we picked her up. Once we put the cage together, found out it was damaged and the back part of the cage was missing. My daughter call to notify them (cause I was at work). She was told I would get an email sent to me so I can send over the pictures, which I never received.

    So when I got out of work I called again, yet again an email was going to be sent to me. Waited 20 mins.. Never received it. So yet I call again, this time they gave me their email and confirmed with me (while I was on the phone) that they received my pictures. Then was told I had to wait 48 hrs. Didn't make a lot of sense to me but I did. After 48 hrs called again. Had to ask to speak to a supervisor who told me it was ordered through a 3rd party. Which was never disclosed. Told I had to wait another 24 hours. I told them to call me not email me since I never received the prior ones. Called again tonight and was told to call back in 24 to 48 hrs. I said absolutely not! Was then told I could bring the cage to a local Petco..

    This thing is huge double story cage.. I don't have the means to transport it. And why should I?? I paid for delivery. Demanded to speak to a supervisor, which then I was told no one is available. Told them I wasn't taking no as an answer! Finally got a supervisor on the phone. Told him this has been a huge inconvenience, and wouldn't have gotten the Chinchilla when I did as they are in a smaller environment than they should be in. I said that to the prior people I talked to as well. All to be told every time to call 24 to 48 hours. Obviously no care for animals or their clients. Told him he can pick up the damage cage. I want a refund and I will take my business elsewhere. Shame on you Petco.

    It was a terrible service to my dog, her hair has been badly cut, it seems that someone inexperienced did it. When he got home and saw her, he was left as if a child cut him with a pair of scissors and didn't know what he was doing. Plus $86 for such a deficient service. I will never go back, they don't have professional staff. My dog's nails are badly cut.. It was a disaster. I don't recommend them. They are disgusting. They have to reimburse my money.. They are the worst.

    Would give them zero stars if I could. Made a grooming appointment and the day of they canceled due to the groomer calling in. So I made another appointment and the day of they called to cancel again due to a family emergency. So after I gave them a piece of my mind with colorful language I will never ever make another appointment with them.

    Extremely poor customer service. They send a coupon and reminder to use the coupon before expiration. Every time that I tried to check out, the application both on mobile and on my desktop using Chrome and Firefox would remain stuck stating it was verifying. NOW, they send me a reminder that I forgot something in the cart; however, the coupon is no longer valid. This is classic marketing gimmicks to try and generate more revenue by placing false advertising and then charging full price. I will take my business elsewhere. Thanks, no thanks!

    This company has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I bought a $1300 conure, a $200 cage and hundreds of dollars worth of food and toys at the Mansfield MA location. 5 months later it died for no reason at all. I went into the store to see what they could to rectify the issue, and they told me it was corporate's decision. I called corporate, they told me it was the store's decision. I went back to the store and was told it’s corporate's decision. I got bounced back and forth for a week. Long story short, I was lied to by multiple employees over the phone, was called a liar by employees on the phone and in store, and was told “Unfortunately it’s not our problem anymore” several times by employees over the phone and the manager in the store. I have spent A LOT of money at this store, but UNFORTUNATELY will not be spending another dollar there. If you are planning on buying an animal at Petco, I would look elsewhere.

    Petco, Manteca Store. I would rate this store at a "zero" if I could. I signed my puppy up for a set of 6 training classes in January. We attended two, at which time we were informed that another dog would be joining the class the next week. The next week we had a tasting for our wedding and advised the trainer of this. She said it was no problem because then the other dog could catch up to where we were at with our puppy.

    These classes were not in consecutive weeks. We found out that we had to wait and see if we got a text message indicating that there would be a class on Sunday. We showed up a couple of times and were told that there was no class as our instructor wasn't working that day. We were then informed that if we didn't get a text, which came 1 or 2 days before the class, that there would be no class.

    Unfortunately, due to missing the text the next week, we mistakenly didn't show up. We stopped in and talked to our trainer about missing the class and if we could make it up, and she said she would talk to the manager. When we showed up for the next class that was texted to us, our trainer indicated that the manager, Alex, had said that we had missed too many classes and we could not continue the class. There was no offer of a refund or makeup of any kind.

    Alex refuses to call us to discuss the matter, and we even stopped in to talk to him, but were directed to another acting manager who said she would ask Alex to call us. I have never attended any class of any sort where the classes are not consecutive and regular and you have to wait for a text to see if you had a class or not. Ridiculous I will be seeking further remedy to recoup the $119 I paid for 6 classes.

    I don't shop Petco much. I prefer petsmart and now I really know why and it's really trivial. But if Petco wants my business, how dare they charge me 10 cents for a stupid thin plastic bag that tore before I even got home and the cans went all over the place??? That really sucks when a company like petco has to charge for something so petty. And they put 13 cat food cans (3 different sizes) in 1 cheap bag.

    I have had both good and bad experiences with the Auburn Petco. I used them for over 4 years as my dog's groomer and I have purchased fish, fish tanks, dog food and many other products over the past 8 years. When I have bad experiences, I talk about them on here and I provide feedback through the Corporate office to ensure they have an opportunity to address any concerns. I have raised concerns with store management and they refused to speak with me which is why I resort to online reviews and corporate complaints.

    So fast forward to March 2023 and I decided to give them one last chance and schedule a grooming appointment with the Auburn Petco. Less than 48 hours from my dog's appointment, I receive an email notification that my appointment has been canceled. I call the store to inquire why and the person who was supposed to perform the grooming answers the phone and then hands me off to a Manager. The Manager tells me the reason they cancelled it is because my dog has been "referred out". This confused me as I had no idea what she meant.

    I asked for clarification and she says "Our groomers refused to work on your dog". I am baffled at this point because my dog has never shown any aggressive behavior, has always behaved and tip VERY well to the groomers. I asked the Manager if she was telling me that my money is no good to them if their groomers have no justified reason for placing my dog on their "Do not groom list". You may laugh but it's a real thing because no Petco will allow me to schedule grooming services or any other services involving canines.

    At this point I was furious, but I wasn't going to take it out on the Manager. I hung up, called the corporate office and filed a complaint because they had no reason to blacklist her other than to retaliate for the complaints I have filed against the store for poor customer service, cancelling appointments at the last minute and for fire safety violations that could jeopardize human life should a fire start in the front of the store.

    They have since disabled my ability to login to the mobile app and I feel they are taking out their frustration on the dog because they have a problem with the human. It's sad it has come to this because I was loyal to Petco and they are allowing groomers to decide the fate of a dog when the dog has done nothing wrong, but that's what you get for being loyal.

    My 9lb one eye shih tzu being their words from Petco grooming Due to aggressive behavior their words.. During grooming groomer used razor on her little face and she tried to bite clippers and she said my dog grazed her hand... When I went to pick her up I had to take shaking 9 year old with my one hand mind you to get her out of page because Arianna felt she was aggressive.. No growling.. Never ever has dog bitten or hurt anyone.. Barely barks. Has anxiety.. This was unacceptable.. Why clippers on face.. Why bald spot above lips. User's recommendation: Do not use.. New staff new management.. Need training.

    I have a 12 yr old cat who is one of four. Today, I took her to Petco in Pleasant Valley, Raleigh, NC. I will preface this review by saying I've visited at least 4 vets in the Raleigh area in the last 15 yrs. What I usually have found is there is a difference in the kind of care your pet will get depending on which vet tends to their needs. Today, I found a really great vet in Dr. ** at this Petco. She gave my rather testy cat the most extensive and thorough exam I have ever witnessed. All the while being very gentle and understanding of my cat's bad attitude. She discussed and addressed every concern I had. And suggested a comprehensive health plan that is suited to my cat's health and age. I can honestly say, as of this date and visit, I am very confident of the care my Ignacia is receiving with Dr. **. I will stay with her and bring my other pets to her. I got great care without the feeling of being held up or over sold on products.

    It started out I was looking for a birdcage for my new cockatiel. I went to their website found the cage I wanted created an account through an app but I had ordered through the website they offered because I was a new pet owner $20 promo code, which worked perfectly fine, but then lower down. When I went to check out, they offered a discount if I opened up the credit card through Petco, which I did, and I was approved and went to use the credit card, well I had to link it through Apple Pay because I didn’t have any other choice and the discount was not applied after it was posted on my credit card account so I called or actually chat and she said that wasn’t eligible because I used Apple Pay but the Apple Pay was linked to the MasterCard.

    I was approved for so I wasn’t really seeing where the problem was, so then I called and they were like well we can give you the $20 promo back but we don’t know about the we don’t know about the discount because of the use of the credit card so I called the bank and the bank said the discount would come after I post the amount post onto my credit card because I had canceled the original order after the chat clerk told me that because it said Apple Pay that it wouldn’t get the discount.

    Then again, the next day with them and say OK fine I’ll wait for the physical card to get here to make the purchase but you know I really wanted to get the better pricing because the case was on sale. Well, he said too bad we can’t really do anything about that we can give you the $20 back but that’s it and I’m like no that’s not right just by chance, I reached out to Chewy via chat, and guess what Chewy matched the prices so I will be shopping with Chewy from now on and PetSmart from now on but never ever, ever again From Petco

    Registers print illegible receipts. I go to return dog kibble with bugs in it 5 days later with receipt. Thirty minutes later and 3 managers and they ask for all my personal info to give me a credit around $20... But I do not have my license so refund denied. I file BBB complaint. Corp sends me an email asking for receipt so they can "investigate". They go silent. Nothing to investigate! Please! Just. Give me my money back! I expect them to go under, they are so awful.     We suggest anyone to avoid this pet store company nationwide as a whole and definitely the 96th street store which is near Fishers and Castleton Indiana off I-69 interstate near Indianapolis, Indiana. We had an eye-opening experience after shopping the store on a very regular weekly shopping trip for several years to purchase pet supplies for our cats, fish and neighbors dog. We have relatives in another state who are employed with the company and after this experience we spoke to them for suggestions because they originally told us about Pet co that it was coming to our neighborhood and suggested we find and shop the store. We discovered the store very close and one that we travel past on a daily basis to and from work and other activities. We shop in the same shopping center daily for groceries, gas and takeout food. It is the nearest pet store of all the other competitors in the area to us.

    The store has several competitors near us but we usually would even pay the higher price for convenience of the location and made trips weekly to buy litter and food. We have purchased a few aquatic pets and adopted a pet cat from the location. We often buy food supplies and medicines for our handicapped neighbor's dog on our trips to the store also. My sister also shops the store on a regular basis who has 3 dogs but will now head our advice and not shop the store again. We have many neighbors who walk their dogs past our house on the sidewalk a few times a day who are likely customers and we have already engaged a few of them to make them aware and suggested avoiding that store. Most are amazed someone in the store would treat us so ridiculously.

    Word travels fast these days. We will be sure to let others know our bad experience with this company as often as possible. The company totally ignored us and never returned any calls. We made several attempts by phone and spoke over a week with lower end CS from what seemed like a foreign phone bank not a real customer service intake call office. After the very first call, we could tell that we probably would get no results but the agent insisted all would be fine and we would be contacted the very next day at a convenient time to us. This never happened after we made several calls back to the company. We were not looking for discounts or free stuff due to our issue but wanted the staff to be re-trained or given some customer service classes.

    At least an apology would have been nice but not once was an apology offered in any way at all. We were super nice and congenial with each person we spoke with but all the promises of callbacks never took place. They kept telling us that a manager would have to investigate and then someone would contact us right away. The last time we spoke with the company they made it super clear to us that an email would be sent to our email address the very next day after they spoke with the store staff and management. Never happened. It's now been a month we have not heard back, no emails. We went online to see if there are other complaints and found many and discovered the company has been around a long time but has been sold and traded many times, had good times and bad. I think the company has forgotten they have true customers and that some of their customers are very regular shoppers.

    At this point, our suggestion to Petco would be get your CS together at your corporate office as there is none and replace the entire staff and management over this store at least. There are very good competitors in the area with better pricing and much better service so they now gain our shopping dollars. We went to a major competitor the same night after our experience and came home very happy after explaining what happened to us at Petco to the clerk that helped us. The clerk's jaw dropped when we explained to them what we went through at Petco an hour earlier. We have made many purchases of accessories at the location and our home is filled with products purchased at the Petco store - everything from beds to water fountains and you name it we have many items. At this point, I don't think there is any way Petco could resolve this with us or turn it around.

    They dumped us and now we are dumping Petco for good. We won't shop there again and suggest others avoid all of their locations. The company is not concerned about their customers for whatever reason. They have lost us and maybe a few other customers for good. As time permits we will extend this complaint to other Consumer Affairs websites of which there are many. It was really that bad! At this time we have left off the actual issue and complaint in order for Petco to respond back to us properly in which case this complaint could be removed.     The placement of alive, and ailing animals in the freezer is reprehensible. This is a cruel behavior and apparent problem at the Boise, Idaho Petco on Milwaukee. Under the direction of the departments leader, with the GM's knowledge. To make things even more unfavorable and revolting. The same manager Micheal asked an employee to feed baby hamsters born in the store to a snake. Fearful of repercussions, the employee complied. These two sadistic, heartless, and worthless humans need to be stopped. Their presumptuous and ungodly behaviors have come to light. Stop the maltreatment and killing of defenseless animals.     I have owned dogs that require grooming, such as poodles and bichons, for close to 60 years. Petco does not properly screen or supervise the people they hire to do grooming. I have had the worst grooming experiences in my life at Petco, from unqualified groomers who don't follow instructions and do not do all the things they charge for. The coats have been cut unevenly and irregularly. When I took my dog to another groomer to fix the mess Petco made, she said it was the worst cut she had ever seen.

    I took my new 6 month old puppy for grooming at this location. She receives all her shots here and previous service as well. This time around was different. While waiting almost 4 hours. The manager Brianna was on her phone half of the time. Upon entering no professionalism. Did not greet me or the customers after me. However, the other two stylist remained professional. Brianna however, was so aggressive with the puppy. I literally had to go inside as I was beyond livid and address her. The other employees were shaking their heads in disbelief of her behavior and whispering sorry to me. They didn’t want to address her as she was their manager. I did not allow her to finish the grooming and took my puppy as she was traumatized at this point.

    I requested after still paying for my services to speak with Stephanie who is her manager as I was advised. Stephanie immediately asked if I paid for the service. I advised her it was not about money. It was about the aggression in the department with the puppies who someone they trust to treat our animal family like family. Based on the other stylist this seems to be Brianna’s daily attitude within Petco. This is a serious matter and advised Stephanie to run back the camera in the room as this was beyond unacceptable. She seemed to be listening however too nonchalant as if this was not the first complaint from Brianna. I will reach out to corporate as this employee needs better training or a different profession if treating animals with respect and customers is not a priority when in service.

    I have purchased numerous bird cages from Petco over the years with no problems. However, I recently purchased another cage and a bag of wild bird seed. The cage arrived, but no bird seed. I cannot find a single email from them regarding this purchase, nor does it show up on my account with them. I called customer service and she told me without the order number she could not help me. This was after I gave her my email addresses, my address and my name. It is only $10.69. But that can add up if they do this to enough people. Not buying anything there again!

    I purchased a Robo hamster on 12/26/23 from the Carbondale Illinois PetCo. It passed away on 2/26/24 (two months after purchase). We called the store and was told it was past 30 days and they could not do anything for us. I had also purchased another hamster from this same store prior to this one and it passed away just under a year after purchase. I am in my 60s and have had hamster all my life. Normal life for a hamster is 2-3 years, not 2-3 months. I will not be buying anything else from PetCo.

    The manager of the Queen Creek branch is a joke. If you DO NOT buy 3 of a certain brand of fish HE (the fish) will be lonely and stressed out! I did not know he had a fish psychology degree, or that it was needed to sell fish. Interesting fact! With nothing to back it up….but his personal opinion, and the extra money Petco will make. And since he made the FINAL decision he would not sell me one! Although listed price is for ONE fish, you will have to buy at least 3 to make this salesman happy…oh and the fish, cause you probably only have 1 fish in your tank.

    I have been taking my Sheltie every couple of weeks to the groomer for a year. I recently scheduled in advance to take him in. Six hours before his appointment at 2:03 am I received a text stating that the appointment had been canceled. I rescheduled and 3 hours later it was canceled. I called and the answer I received for the cancellations was (I don't know why). Surprised at the answer I replied, "Well I will call someone else" and her reply was OK. I suggest before you get this treatment find a company who wants your business.

    So, I look up a product online (to make sure it was 'in stock') see the price which gives various ways to 'purchase the product' including 'in store' (ALL from the COVID fiasco that many stores STILL USE!). So I drive over, FIND the product but see the price is 'SUBSTANTIALLY HIGHER' on the shelf tag. I take the product to the counter and ask about the 'substantial 25% difference' of the price from the 'on-line price' and?? I'm told, "That's for if you ordered it on-line then came to pick it up"... I state to the very nice two ladies.. "That's STUPID.. So if I CALL or however I place the order.. but ON-LINE, I STILL have to drive over to PICK IT UP but if I just DRIVE here and still pick up the item...off the shelf MYSELF?? It's FAR more expensive than ordering it on-line.. for PICKUP!?" They both nod (they don't make policy but SOMEONE does!).

    So I say, "Well will you give me the online discounted price SINCE I HAD to drive here ANYWAY?" She nods (nice girl) and when I'm hit with the total including tax? I'm now paying 40% (FORTY PERCENT!!!) or $14.00 MORE!??? I just paid, grabbed my product and left! That's not exactly the discount I just evidently mistook the nod 'yes' for and I think I've got to stop using Petco and they need to revise their policies as people will stop going there if they're going to be taken advantage of like this!     I will NEVER go back to Petco again. They do not care about their customers at all. I spent over $800 at my local petco buying fish supplies, and was treated terribly when I went in to purchase some fish. The guy in the fish department is wrong about almost everything he says and he's horrible to deal with. When we first walked in he was helping another family and I know he saw us there waiting because we practically got pushed out of the way while he was helping them. Then after he got their fish for them he just left the department and didn't come back. We had to go find him and ask for help.

    When we finally got him to come help us I told him that I wanted to buy three fish, three fish that according to the petco freshwater compatibility chart should all be good tank mates. I told him which fish I wanted to buy, which was a gourami, a small catfish and a Molly. Fish guy says, "you can't put those fish together." I know he is wrong because I already had some fish of the same type living together and when I got home I double checked the care sheets that are found on the petco website and they were all listed as ideal tank mates for each other.

    So I tell the guy that I already have a tank with those types of fish in living together, and he says what size tank? I tell him that one is 30 gallons but we have three tanks total. So without asking what size the other two tanks are...or what type of fish are in them...or if I have any plans of getting a bigger tank, he says well the catfish (which is only an inch long) will get pretty big so I can't sell you that one, and your tank sounds like it's at max capacity so I'm not going to sell you any fish.

    We told him again that we had three tanks and he says to us, again without even asking about what size the other tanks are or what kind of fish are in them "I can't sell fish unless I know they are going to a safe home. We have to look out for their well-being and with the information that you have given me I can't sell you any fish." And he says it while he is standing right in front of the store aquariums that all have dead fish just sitting in them. Then he tries to say that one of the gourami fish I want is territorial so even though they had 5 of the same fish in a tank that is much smaller than mine, if I were to put a third one in mine it would be a problem.

    It didn't matter that I have spent over $800 at petco on plants for the aquarium, water treatments, filters, heaters, substrate aquarium decorations, fish food etc. It didn't matter that this month alone I spent over a hundred dollars on water treatment, which could easily be looked up on the computer because they take your phone number every time you check out, the fish guy decided that the fish would not be safe with me...what a slap in the face. To add insult to injury when I went home and looked up their care sheet for the gourami, which was the fish that he said couldn't be in a tank with other fish of the same species, and the petco care sheet said that you could put up to three in a small ten gallon tank.

    Don't shop at petco. They don't care about their customers. They don't care how much money you've spent with them trying to take the best care of your pets that you can, if fish guy doesn't like you he will declare you unfit to take care of fish, despite the fact that he has dead fish floating in every tank that they have. When I got home I got on the petco website and talked to someone through the live chat, I was told that the manager would contact me sometime today..it's 938pm, she never called me.

    I purchased Seresto collars for my dog after having a flea infestation. I noticed my dog was having trouble jumping into my car. He's 4 years old and was in excellent health. He got worse every day. Leg weakness, loss of balance, lethargy, disinterest in food, depression, falling down, unable to get into the bed. The vet told me he must have fallen & injured his spine and I didn't see it. I'm retired and home all the time. This made no sense to me. I started to panic. I knew something was wrong. That's when my research led me to problems with Seresto collars. Thousands of dogs dead. Hundreds of thousands with serious neurological & mobility issues.

    They're banned in Canada. The EPA was supposed to ban them last October but didn't. I removed the collar immediately and bathed him in Dawn. He was a lot better almost immediately!!! Look up how much money Elanco is making!! Now if Petco cares so much about our pets and is so loyal to us why are Seresto collars being sold in Petco stores???? Do your own research and see for yourself. I'm SICK over this and I'm not the type to write a review & forget about it. My dog still has some residual weakness & loss of balance. I will get justice for him!!!

    My dog, Izzy, only eats Diamond Naturals dog food and a specific type, lamb & rice for large breed dogs. Diamond is not sold everywhere and is often not on the shelf at TSC, where I usually buy it. I was toying with ordering it from Chewy when I saw Amazon had it. Amazon was getting it from Petco SO I thought I would check with Petco directly. There is one in a neighboring town, about 15 minutes away. They don't carry it in the store but you can order it to be delivered. I did. On January 26th. It was supposed to be delivered on the following Tues or Weds. I got notices that it shipped, notice that it was out for delivery and then a notice it couldn't be delivered.

    I went to the site and it was NEVER out for deliver. It went from Atwater, CA to Stockton and sat in that warehouse. Stockton is over an hour away from me. They said there was an issue with my address. There is no issue with my address. They want me to sign up for some shipping program that doesn't cost me anything but they want a credit card number. Without that, my dog food will not move. SO I first canceled setting it up as a subscription. Then called and cancelled my delivery. I was told it was cancelled.

    Two days later I check my bank and there has been no reimbursement of my payment. Last night I get an email saying SO sorry, cannot cancel once an order has shipped. I said, you CAN because you aren't able to deliver it. It's NOT out on a truck, it's in your warehouse. She told me I can refuse it at delivery. I told her that is stupid, just don't deliver it. Round and round we went. I told HER that I am going to my bank to challenge their payment AND going to social meeting to tell everyone how horrid their customer service is. So here I am, very, very angry with them. Oh, I went to TSC. Their website said they had three bags of the dogfood. I got there and it wasn't on the shelf. A very nice man asked me if I needed assistance, checked the shelf and went to the back bringing me all three bags. I took two of them. I am setting up auto delivery from TSC. Didn't realize they did that. I'm done with Petco, so done.

    This loyalty program that promises you discounts on pet litter (20%) and pet food (10%), costing you either $299.98 per year if paying monthly or $239.88 when paying a year in advance, has some clear drawbacks:
    (1) price prohibitive if you have only one pet, budget brake even for 2 pets and maybe positive for 3 pets and beyond,
    (2) regardless how you sign up, either with monthly payments or a lump sum in advance, You are stuck in a one year contract that cannot be cancelled except when (all) your pet(s) has/have passed away,

    (3) the Petco pricing with the discounts applied tend to be the same on other websites. So, there really no gain in paying out dollars for a service that does not provide a monetary benefit. Minimum order is $35 to get free shipping. Other sites have free shipping.

    I ordered a dog harness from Petco online to replace the same one I already had, but my puppy got ahold of and chewed up. They didn't have any more available at any of the stores within 50 miles of me. I wanted the same harness because it fit well and my dog has an awkwardly shaped chest. They sent the wrong size to me 3 TIMES SO FAR! The SKU number on the website is wrong. For the small sized harness listing they have the XS size harness SKU number listed.

    I've been trying to explain this to customer service, that if the root problem of the wrong SKU number is not fixed, they are just going to keep sending the wrong harness. I've been trying all day to speak to a manager but just keep getting put on hold for hours at a time for them to just tell me there is no manager available. If I didn't like this harness so much I would give up, but I'm trying to get this resolved. Maybe 4th time's a charm, but after this next round I'm going to give up and have to find an alternative. I spend hundreds of dollars a month on dog supplies and I am not going to be spending it here anymore.

    I bought a parakeet from Petco and the poor thing can not fly. His wings were apparently overclipped. He is paranoid and goes into fits, if you try to touch him. Then he goes on his back and looks like he will die of nervous attack. I suspect his behavior was caused by his wings being over-clipped. I you are looking for a parakeet I recommend a private breeder. They cost a bit more but are happier and healthier.

    My dog developed glaucoma and was prescribed a combination of eye drops and ointments that were available as 3 separate products listed on the Petco website that I would be needing to order, monthly, for the rest of his life. Petco accepted the order and requested that I mail my 3 paper prescriptions to their address, which I did. After a couple of days they wrote to say that one of the medications was not available and they were canceling that part of the order.

    Over the course of several emails, I explained that had I known I was not going to be able to get the whole order I would have used another vendor and so I requested my prescriptions be returned. Petco's responses were unsatisfactory and they were not able to return my prescriptions. What is worse, they continue to list the unavailable medication on their website, and were not interested in my pointing out that this could lead other people to be duped into placing partial orders like I had.

    I don't know which is worse, the grooming or the training. They had been grooming my dog since he was a puppy. I don't know what happened during the service, but I now have to medicate him before he goes for a grooming appointment, we go elsewhere now. I paid well over $100 for training and he learned absolutely nothing. Petco in Spartanburg, SC is a waste of money, go somewhere else.

    I purchased an aquarium in August from my local store. By October it had become so discolored I wanted to exchange it. (Not due to water contamination.) The store wouldn't because it had passed the 30 day return period. I contacted the manufacturer who replaced it but the replacement had a dimple in it and a crack which wasn't noticeable until filled and the fish was already in it. Because I was scared of it bursting, I was forced to buy another tank quickly. The corporate office refused to issue me a refund after selling the defective Imagitarium 3.1 gallon globe. I asked the supervisor, Tonette, what the rule was preventing it other than the period of time and she would only state they will not replace it. The company doesn't stand behind their products and doesn't care they placed my home in jeopardy or that my fish could've been killed.

    We’ve been taking our dog there a few times and now they won’t see him because he’s 13 years old. We had to get a vet statement stating he’s in good health. They won’t accept the letter saying our dog needs a more current exam. Last exam was less than six months ago. Seems like a lot of hoops to jump through for a mediocre grooming experience. We’re going elsewhere to someplace that doesn’t discriminate against elder dogs and get a much better hair cut.

    We set up an automatic shipment for a 70.00 bag of dog food to be sent every 3 weeks for our 4 dogs. Their food was supposed to be here last Friday. Called customer service and they told us they were out of stock of their wholehearted brand food. I called the store while I was on the other line that told me they were out of stock and they had 4 bags on the shelf not counting what was set aside to be shipped. They then said it would be on my door step today. I ended up going to the store a half hour away to buy a small bag for them to eat. Now here it is the day they assured me it would be here and it once again wasn’t. Definitely if you need food from them go get it from the store because they are so unreliable and if you were to wait for them to ship it a week after it’s promised your pet will starve to death! Don’t order anything that you might need in a timely fashion from them.

    I purchased a PetSafe self-cleaning litterbox. We were highly dissatisfied with the product. I went into PetCo and asked if I was able to return the product. The clerk told me yes. I took the product in, with the receipt, and packaged in the original box. At this point, the clerk said the purchase was over their 30-day return policy. PetSafe says PetCo was paid for the product and PetCo will NOT back my purchase. I think it is highly unethical to not back a product you sell.

    I ordered a bag of Purina Kitten food through Shipt and Petco. When I opened the bag, it was filled with live maggots. I promptly called Petco - however, they refused to investigate into the matter because the pet food was bought through Shipt. I was told to call Shipt for a refund - which is completely ridiculous because Shipt is a delivery service that has nothing to do with the rotten food carried at the store.     So I have been taking my dog Willow to the Petco groomers in Tucson Arizona for the past 2 years. Never once had a problem until the past Sunday we took her in to get a bath, her nails done, gland expulsion, and trimmed around her butt. When we went to pick her up she had had her bath and brushed but apparently the girl who did The Grooming was unauthorized to use scissors so she was an unable to trim the hair on her butt she also did not do the gland expression, so we took her back in and asked for somebody that could do the hair trim the hair around her butt and they took her in that day and when we got her back she ran underneath the bed and head and didn't come out and then this morning she had blood coming out of her anus. I am very upset and I am going to have to take my dog to the vet now.

    Alexandria, La-You may want to do an inventory of all of your items in the store. People go in, look for the item they are needing and none available on the shelf. If they don't see the item, therefore, why would they want to continue shopping, nothing is purchased in the store, they walk right back out, just like I did today, September 14, 2023. JUST FYI, that is why many people purchase online elsewhere and not in the store or on their site. This is not the first time. I don't normally make complaints, but by chance just thought this might help your sales increase instead of decrease. Otherwise, your store is declining in sales, just saying. I don't see many in the store when I go in there, the inventory could be the problem. Hope this gives some insight as to what is going on in your stores.

    Have been purchasing GloFish aquariums and supplies from this store. We had an early annoyance because we had purchased multiple fish, and 2 died right away. When my DEAF son tried to return the fish they hassled him. So we decided that we would no longer return any dead fish just give them "burial at sea". This past Saturday he (my DEAF son) went to the store as we wanted to add 2 more fish. He was again hassled about our water quality, etc. and they wouldn't sell him the 2 fish we wanted, they told him he had to buy 3 fish and they all had to be the same and the same color, which the GloFish website does not say must be done and defeats the purpose of having a colorful GloFish aquarium. I usually send my son because I have a service dog and going to pet stores in the middle of the day on a weekend when everyone is out is not fair to him.

    This same Saturday I dropped off my dog early in the morning and spent over $170.00 getting my dog groomed. Because they seem to like to take advantage of people with disabilities and they will not be getting any of my business any longer. It is sad because my service dog loves getting groomed there but I have already cancelled all my appointments with Petco and am looking for a new groomer.

Told me I would have to just send it back when I received it at my expense unless it was broken... well 50% of what I order from Amazon arrives broken or used and missing pieces so there's a chance.     Rewards that make the tenth bag of dog food isn’t free at all. I still had to pay a fee for my free 10th bag of dog food. I was told it must be because I bought a different brand. I have been buying the same brand of dog food for years so that couldn't be. Yet yet again disappointed by Petco. What is the point of earning rewards for your free bag of dog food that is not free. Never any discounts on my dog food. Never any coupons. Never anything. I buy six big bags of dog food monthly. My dogs are over 200 pounds.     I would give -5 stars if possible, but have to give at least 1. Do not place orders online with Petco. I ordered $50 worth of different kinds of fish food. Petco took the entire $50 from my account. 24 hours later, I had still not received my order confirmation. I called the store to check on my order status. I was told that only a few of my items were in stock, $9 of the order. The rude Petco lady told me I could come pickup my item that was ready, but I would have to wait 3-7 business days for the refund of the remaining $40. It is 2023, and no reason why they can't refund my money instantly! I made a Walmart purchase online, and the item was not in stock. My money was refunded as soon as the order was canceled! If you need something from a Pet store, please do NOT shop at Petco. Find yourself a nice local fish store, and support them instead of this money holding tyrant of a company!

    A refund was supposed to be issued to me in May 2023 in form of a check. It is now August 2023 and I have not received my refund. I called several times and spoke to different agents AND supervisors, no one seems to know any information and each one will say, "I will call you back with more information"... It just never seems to be the case. Back and forth with emails as well and nothing has been solved. No one could tell me where's the check, tracking info, etc. I was either hang up on or on hold for 10 minutes or longer. If I was even lucky to get a supervisor I was told there was nothing they could do as they were waiting on "back office" to get back to them. The customer service experience with this has been horrible and ongoing (3 months) now!!!!
