Since I introduced the Kirkland brand dry cat food to our 8 year old cat a couple months ago he's gotten pretty sick this last month. Vomiting and stinky diarrhea, yesterday I realized there was blood in his stool. He has been crying for a few days now. I will have to take him to the vet. After reading the reviews it is Confirmed that this food is harming our pets. I would never recommend. He is laying by my side at this moment in discomfort. Tomorrow I am getting him checked out. Pls stop selling this garbage.

I had to give the pate away, it's been a while but they would only eat one of the flavors. So last trip I got the chunks. They will not eat it! Was going to take back to Costco but had thrown the box away. Will donate to a cat lady I know. Very disappointed in the costco wet food.

At first this cat food was great, since moving fully over to the food, I have a cat with horrible diarrhea. Vet says they can't find anything wrong. I'm seeing tons of new complaints with the same issue all over online. I think this food needs to be recalled and Kirkland needs to do further testing. I'm planning on returning it.

We brought home the wet, chunky cat food and after our cat ate it he began vomiting. He was puking for over an hour. After he vomited bubbles, he just dry heaved out cried. I'm so angry after reading complaints all over Reddit, Facebook etc.

I’ve had multiple cats have bladder stones while feeding this food. The savings in cost to feed my crew was quickly overtaken in the thousands I’ve had to pay for surgeries, medications and now prescription food.

Have been on Kirkland chicken and rice premium cat food for quite some time. But in the recent bags, my cats have been getting sick. With diarrhea variety and now not eating. And it's been going on with several cats. So I am at Costco returning the food. Another reviewer said she was experiencing the same thing and she switched to Iams cat food.

I raised my two barn cats on Kirkland cat food. Never had any issues. Last two bags have been causing stinky diarrhea and vomiting. Went to vet and checked everything out, no problems found. Changed the food to a different brand and had normal stools and better energy next day. Switched back and diarrhea again. Kirkland has done something to their cat food in 2024 and it is making cats sick. I switched to IAMS healthy digestion and so far so good. Pretty disappointed as Kirkland food was cheap but not after $500 in vet bills because of it.

My cats got switched to Kirkland brand cat food being that it seemed to be cheaper and I thought to have nutrition. Otherwise constant diarrhea and smells awful. Time to switch. They need to know that it is causing issues and recall all cat food again!

Recently I started giving my cats this brand and noticed one of my cats started to have bloody diarrhea outside the litter box and it seems she developed hemorrhoids. I went back to their old food and it seems she is getting better.

Not sure what they changed but this cat food (Super Premium Nutra Nuggets) is an absolute waste of money now. I can only judge by results. I bought this cat food for years as it was convenient to get for my outdoor cats. The last bag I bought about 6 months ago is finally being tossed out. I have tried to give it to my indoor and outdoor cats on and off for months now and not 1 cat will even take a bite, even after days. The final nail in the coffin happened during our last snowstorm. I had 4 feral cats that were literally trapped in their outdoor shed for 7 days and chose starvation rather than eating even 1 bite of this cat food. These cats have eating everything else that has ever been fed to them. Since I have been trying for months to fool my cats to eats this I no longer have receipt for "verified buyer" but I do have mostly unused bag of this food I would love to send somewhere and get my money back if the company would like to contact me!

Simply, my cats won't eat it. Now, I'm not sure that's my experience exactly; it's theirs. But my cats won't eat it at all, period. Not one bite, regardless of flavour. Two thumbs down. If this was ancient Rome, the gladiator's dead.

I would consider myself as an "expert" of sorts on cats, as there is seemingly no one that can truly claim that title. I currently help house, raise, and assist many rescue cats (more than 10). Most cat owners know what a debacle it can be to change foods midstream in a cat's life. The inevitable horrific change in the smell of the stool, the vomiting, the diarrhea, and other not-so-obvious things. We, like others on this thread with dogs, have both used and recommended Kirkland brand premium dry pet food for an extended period of time. As of approximately September of 2022, something changed in the food.
At first, we attributed the change to a possible cold or other variant in the ecosystem. Then as time moved forward and after ruling out as many things possible, we cannot come to any other conclusion other than the food quality has changed. The stool from the cats has the unmistakable foul odor of a "cheaper" food change. The overall health of the colony has shown signs of degradation as well. Fur, skin, overly-frequent vomiting, and other vile digestive problems are in evidence. It is currently unclear if the abasement in ear health and sneezing is related at this time. Once a change is made it will be easier to assess these issues.
At the current time, we are sitting on the last bags (as we buy in bulk) of the remaining. We are now considering making an extremely expensive change to the core food we feed our adopted children. It should be very interesting for us and the rest of you concerned cat lovers what occurs when the change is made. I will attempt to update the status of our situation at that time.

So at first I thought one of my cats was I’ll. But then all my cats got sick the only thing different was that cat food. My cats don’t go outside or around anything. I immediately took it back and my cats are no longer vomiting.

Ugh, I purchased this food for my feral cats however, recently I introduced my 4 cats to this food and they love it. My 14 year old Maine Coon started vomiting a lot and I assumed it was because of his long hair. Just recently, he started smelling really bad. He's been leaving urine marks which he's never done and now we are taking him to vet tomorrow. Hoping it's not a blockage but he's never been sick like this until I started with this food. I am so regretful this happened. Please stay away from this food. I'm not even feeding this to the outdoor ferals any longer.

This is the only food my male cat has ever been fed at our home, for the last 3-4 years (he’s about 5 now). Yesterday my poor cat was in a lot of pain, I had to rush him to the hospital and he needed emergency surgery. The radiology report showed that he had bladder stones, or crystals in his urinary tract. It was completely blocked. In surgery they removed several stones from his bladder and urethra. The Kirkland food seems to be the common link among hundreds of other complaints here. He is still at the hospital recovering. But once we bring him home tomorrow there will be NO Kirkland Cat Food allowed in this house.

I have been feeding my cat Kirkland cat food for at least 3 years. He usually had the Light blue bag. I bought the Dark blue by accident. For 2 weeks I fed him the Dark Blue Kirkland and he just kept vomiting it up and he had diarrhea. I went back to Costco and bought a bag of the Light Blue cat food. His usual food. He continued to vomit and experience diarrhea. He lost weight, didn't groom himself properly, and had no energy.
I bought a bag of Whiskas and he ate it. He did not vomit. He did not have diarrhea. He put the weight back on and looked and acted healthy. I still have the 2 bags of Kirkland food, which I did not want to go to waste, so I added about a tablespoon to his bowl of Whiskas. Once again he Vomited and had diarrhea. I don't know if the formula has changed, the factory changed, or the food was somehow contaminated, but the problem is Definitely with the Kirkland Cat food.

I alternate between this bag and the Damon bag for my two Maine coons, one of which has a voracious appetite. Got really strange lately when he started sniffing it and turning away. He had severe runny yellow diarrhea during the weekend. And has started throwing up. The other one doesn’t get poop issues but now also has yellow softer poop. I fed them canned food and they devoured that instead. NOT feeding them this again and will be complaining to Costco. I know Kirkland had melamine scandal in 2012, with this happening again is inexcusable. Considering never buying Kirkland pet food again.

I’ve used Kirkland maintenance cat food for my 7 cats and they loved it. But the last bag I recently purchased wasn’t being eaten as fast as normally. I started noticing throw up all around and diarrhea outside of their boxes. I also noticed that they were very lethargic and losing weight. I talked with my neighbor friend who also has cats and uses the same cat food for her cats. She said her cats had very smelly diarrhea and were laying around real quiet, not being themselves. We both determined it was the good and stopped feeding it to them ASAP!! I put them on a different pet store brand and they are all doing much better. I don’t know what is happening with Kirkland brand, but it’s NOT OK! I’m taking the remainder of it back to Costco Tomorrow and letting them know.

I bought this cat food for our 13 yr old cat who was seemingly healthy. He didn't like it, but I thought he would get used to it. A few months later he was vomiting bloody liquid and we rushed him to the vet. She tested his organs and said everything appeared good and said it was his diet. Because of the extreme problem, he wouldn't eat and they suspected more of an issue so did more tests. It appeared we were going to have to put him down as they explored the origin, suspecting cancer. After "jump starting" his appetite, using anti-nausea pills and meds to keep his stomach acid reduced, we finally got him started on another diet. He is recovering, but it was a very expensive lesson that won't be repeated.

I have been feeding Kirkland Signature Maintenance Cat Chicken and Rice Cat food for years now without any issues at all. I have two cats that are hearty eaters and generally not picky. I put the food in their storage bin and they feed at will. I purchased a bag recently when the bin was getting low and added. I found it odd that the food was going down extremely slow compared to regular. Then about 2 weeks ago our usually very shy male cat was very lethargic and had made a mess outside of the litter box. Inside the litter box there was a mess as well. He had diarrhea and was not feeling well. I thought maybe he had a virus cause he seemed a little better the next couple of days.
My female cat which has been looking a little chunky lately is clearly loosing weight. Both cats have lost a lot of weight of late and are not eating this food. Then today another incident and mess. I was ready to take the male to the vet since it seems that there maybe something more than a virus at work here. Then on a whim I googled Kirkland Cat food problems and found that I was not alone on the same issues with this food. A BAD BATCH!! I dumped what was left of this food which was most of the bag and am contacting Costco to inform them. Sadly I didn't keep the bag which has the date code on it.

I switched to this food about a month and a half ago and I noticed my cats not eating it as much and only when they were actually hungry unlike any other food they have ever had. Being a former vet tech I attributed it to the better ingredients than in the pet store foods. Fast forward to this week and a new bag of food - 3 of my adult cats are vomiting, lethargic, diarrhea and so far it’s cost $1500 in vet bills and a week's worth of stress with a new cat getting sick every other day. The ONLY THING THEY ALL EAT THE SAME IS THIS FOOD. This is a BAD BATCH!!! After seeing other owners having this same issue this food needs to be recalled!!!!

8 cents a day per cat is very affordable. The cats love it, and most of the filler isn't bad for them. Lots of protein too. It's a dry food, but our cats drink tons of water so we aren't worried about that.

I have used Kirkland Super Premium Maintenance Cat Food for years with no problems. My own cats and strays have thrived. The bag I purchased in June looked a little different in color. When served to my cats, they refused to eat it until they were very hungry. Thinking they were just picky with a new bag, I continued to feed. I have even mixed it wet food which they will eat but their coats have become dull, they are listless and losing weight. Even the opossum that comes at night has refused the food. I hate to think there is a bad batch of food out there in the middle of this pandemic (or any other time either) that is making our animals sick.

Cats shouldn't eat foods with grains or by products. Our oldest cat had all kinds of skin issues his entire life and when we finally switched him, he was like a whole new cat. Our only cat now has eaten this food for years. It is much more affordable than other brands, being under the Kirkland label, but seems to have all the benefits of costlier versions.

My two outdoor/indoor male cats grew up on this kibble, augmented with wet food, and used to love it. In October, 2019, I bought 3 x 25 lb bags at my nearest Costco store. In the last month or so, I noticed that one of the boys especially was losing lots of weight. I started to watch what they're eating more closely. I was very concerned about the younger adult cat who is dropping weight fast. The boys used to love their kibble and I always have a large bowl out where they can eat what they want. I noticed over the past couple of weeks that they are avoiding their Kirkland kibble. And yet, I also noticed that they are both hungry and finish their wet food down to the bare dish. I started to feed them both more of this, and they were doubling or tripling the daily amount that used to be an addition to the kibble.
I realized that they were both, and especially the one dropping weight, starving! They prefer to eat nothing than the kibble they once loved! I've now put their Kirkland kibble into a smaller bowl and measure in 1 cup at a time so I can see if they're eating any of it. The answer is, almost not at all. I called Kirkland in Seattle, and they told me, nothing has changed in the content of the cat food, and none of it has been recalled. Still, there you are: my two large male cats would rather starve than eat it, and both have become more lethargic. I am going to take the food I have left back to Costco and I'll have to find another brand somewhere else, as all Costco sells in cat food is this dry Kirkland brand. I always liked the recipe, which starts with "chicken" -- No 1, meaning most of it is meat, not corn meal or rice etc. However, since the cats can't tolerate it anymore, I think there's something wrong with it now.
