I attempted to pull my credit report to see if there is anything on there I need dispute before applying for a new home. After entering my information I came to the identity verification page (which, by the way, is ** if you have more than one credit card or car loan - how are you supposed to know the information they are asking if they don't specify which account they're referring to?) and then got a message saying that my report wasn't available online. Are you kidding me? That's the whole reason I used your stupid site in the first place. There was a link to fill out a form to request the report through the mail. Besides the fact that this is extremely inconvenient, I don't have the resources or the time to mail in my report only to have it mailed back to me several weeks later. I noticed a customer service number on the form (1-877-322-8228) so I called it, hoping to speak to a live person who could explain why I couldn't get my report online.
Instead it was an entirely automated menu and pressing 0 got me nowhere. So after slamming my phone receiver down, I tried clicking on the Contact Us link, thinking, "OK, I can at least submit an email inquiry and get a response that way." NOPE! They have you fill out a form and leave your comments, then enter your name and address again; but nowhere do they have you provide your email address or phone number. Hmmm, so how exactly am I going to get a response??? You going to mail me a response to my comment??? Ha. What a joke. I am pretty sure I used this site in the past and didn't have a problem but this is just ridiculous.
I noticed a few others had a similar issue when entering their address with the apartment number on line 2 (which also applied in my case) so maybe that's the reason for the glitch, but there is no excuse for the poor customer service or rather, complete lack of any customer service presence whatsoever. So dumb. I'll continue to use Credit Karma to check my scores and report even if the info on there isn't 100% accurate. I'll figure out how to dispute items on my credit report directly with the bureaus because this was pointless.

If you are a RENTER do not request your file online. Their site is all jacked up. If you put your address correctly but happen to put the apartment number on the second address line (which is correct) guess what happens? It locks you out from requesting your report. I made 2 attempts adding the apartment number on its appropriate line and another attempt without adding the apartment number and they locked me out from requesting my report. I tried after 24 hours thinking it’s a site block to prevent fraudulent activity but it actually just blocked me from entering into my profile. Calling there is not worth it. You have someone from another country that doesn’t know English. This is just ridiculous! I sent emails to "contact us" nobody will help me!

For having such an essential function your website is very nonfunctional and annoying. Your phone service is also very annoying. It is slow paced. You realize the average American has to work 60-80 hours a week right? Nobody has time for this **. You should be ashamed of your subpar website. There are fan sites for cartoons more functional than this. I wish there was a way to give 0 stars. Really it's pitiful. You obviously have the funding to make a functional site. You all just lack a solid work ethic. It's really disgusting when I think about how much you useless ** get paid to be useless.

I was notified by my workplace of a potential information breach. I decided to check my annual credit report through this site, as directed through TransUnion, which is recommended on my bank's account holder website. What an odyssey. I requested all 3 reports, but was only able to obtain a report through Experian. Not EVEN the agency that recommended the site. I actually was rerouted and the screen timed out so many times that I actually wondered if the site was a scam. I called the 877 number as recommended and now will get my report in a speedy 3-5 weeks. That should really help me keep on top of any identity theft issues.

I just applied for my free annual credit report from Equifax (the Equifax website redirected me to ACR) through the AnnualCreditReport.com website. I filled in all the information required and hit submit. It indicated that I could not receive the report online and that I had to download forms and mail to a US address. I am retired and living abroad and cannot do this right now. I feel I was scammed into providing this information without them telling me the online report was not available. This would have saved me one of my free reports. This website AnnualCreditReport.com should be shut down. I will NEVER use it again. They are scammers.

Annualcreditreport.com does not allow saving any of the credit reports. You must log back in to view them; providing another acct and password. So inconvenient. They do not provide a credit score, which everyone must have. Because of Equifax bad business practices must mail in, and provide add'l information. This is a website obviously govt agency has required they provide free credit reports, so they provide as little information as provided. Always wanting you to come back to sign up for some monthly monitoring, or pay for credit report. Scam by the three credit reports.

Error causes missed reports. 3 reports and scores were expected. Very fine print show up after your request is complete that the credit scores themselves can be viewed additionally as a charge. 7 bucks plus per score. Also, this is a one time view only meaning no back button re-review directly after the original view. All three reports must be viewed without pressing any other buttons within the site even if they pertain to your report or else you will lose the option to view the next report. Once all reports are so called view you're kicked out the system and customer service is nothing more than a mailing address.

I have lived in the same place for over 20 years. I am not going to mail sensitive documents to them. If they have bad information, I can't remove it because I can't access it. And the captcha's are IMPOSSIBLE to read! IS IT A 2 or a snake or a backwards S??? The new captchas are NO BETTER. Ridiculous. I played their game for 2 days online and now I get: you have to request by mail. ABSURD. While I would like to give this service the full five-stars that it truly deserves, every year, I have trouble with my Experian reports. The form either times out and will not allow me to resubmit it, it errors and will not allow me to resubmit it, or the identity challenge is entirely incorrect - populating my father's information, not mine. When I look over my personal details, they are only partially mine and partially my fathers - which is how I know that the identity challenge is incorrect. This year, the page was erroring due to my pop-up blocker - but it gave no hint about the source of the error; both the Transunion and Equifax reports did provide a reminder to disable it.
Every year, but this year, I was forced to pay them money, to obtain my credit report. While I can get the report now - a first in nearly 10 years - it doesn't have an option to simply save it as a .PDF, while both the Transunion and Equifax reports do. I paid Experian to get my credit score, whereas I can get my Transunion and Equifax scores from Credit Karma for free. Curious, though, that I can download my report as a .PDF when I'm a paying customer. :/ If Experian stepped up their game to simply match what both Transunion and Equifax have been doing for years, they would have a more favorable view amongst their customers, and the Annual Credit Report system (which rocks!) would receive far more five-star reviews, which it truly deserves. Thanks for reading!

We tried again on Sunday 01/08/2017 and Monday 01/09/2017 to get annual free credit report from Experian, and again received the message "We're Sorry. A condition exists that prevents Experian from being able to accept your request at this time. To obtain your Experian annual credit report, please mail your request to the address below using the Annual Credit Report Request form. Annual Credit Report Request Service P.O. Went to the ACR site, and had the same experience as most of you. Equifax and TransUnion come up fine, that is after you wade thru all of the b.s. of them trying to sell you programs. But Experian? Same as always with the statement about "a condition exists...blah, blah etc". One of you posed a good point. If the government mandates that the reports are free, then Exp is violating the law. Now I have to go out and spend CASH on envelopes, and stamps, and oh yeah, don't forget that now they get 15 days to process it! What agency should this be reported to? This crap happens every year!

Today I failed to obtain the free annual credit reports from each of the credit companies. It is apparent that they are trying to make it difficult so at the end you have to pay for the reports if really want them. What I mean by difficult is asking you questions like what was the credit card account that you opened in 1993 or what was the year that you open a loan with so and so. If you step out to check the dates, when you come back the forms have expired and cannot be refreshed. Another tab opens asking you to send documents containing sensitive information, i.e., SS# by mail. Your one chance of a free credit report is gone.
After the failed attempt with Experian, Equifax and TransUnion, I went to the AnnualCreditReport.com website to describe what I thought are deceiving practices by these companies. However, the section for contacting them let you write the issues but doesn't go past that and gives an error message. So, here you have deception from the credit companies and also from the company that suppose to facilitate the process and take comments from the consumers.

When requesting TransUnion report, there is an arbitrary error message even though the site clearly recognizes my information before this error: "We are unable to complete your request. What happened: Unfortunately, your request cannot be fulfilled online at this time, based upon the data provided. What to do: To request your Free Annual Credit Report by phone, please call (877) 322-8228. Alternately, to request your Free Annual Credit Report by mail, return to annualcreditreport.com to download the request form."
When you call by phone, you have to talk to a robot that can't comprehend your address; and there is NO POINT in talking to a robot when you can just type the same exact information online. Also, you CAN'T get a human on the phone. Instead of calling, if you click the link to get a request form, it's just an endless loop of more error messages. You can try the "contact form" on the website, but when you click "Tell Us More" to submit the form, just another arbitrary error message appears that you can't get around. You can send a postcard to their address, but it's only for "questions or comments about our online privacy policy and fair information practices", so they'll just throw it out.
Finally, the website instructs you to use the contact information provided with your credit report, but guess what... IF YOU CAN'T GET THE CREDIT REPORT THEN YOU CAN'T ACCESS THIS "CONTACT INFORMATION". The website is impossible to use and is completely useless because all attempts to get a report lead to dead ends with no way to resolve them. If you want, you can waste your time relaying the same information you can type online to a robot, but it can't recognize the information so you might as well relay the information to the closest wall.

I'm not sure why so many people had trouble with the site, but I suspect it was from not reading carefully or following instructions or going to a wrong website. I accessed all three of my credit reports, although I had to come back an hour later to do one of the three. I was not asked for payment to receive any of the three reports. I was not asked to receive or order anything by mail. The identity verification questions were not tricky, but I had to read carefully and think through the answers. I was given an opportunity to get my credit score for a payment (and having to join a monthly program) I declined. Overall, not a difficult experience, but I do wish credit scores were mandated as also free.

Just pulled all 3 credit reports from this site. No problems obtaining reports, no issues with the CAPTCHA (though I have had issues on other sites with CAPTCHAS so it's realistic that some people might have problems on this site) although Equifax was a little slow. Here's how this works: Select which agency's reports you want. You will be redirected to that agency's website and asked a bunch of identifying questions (these seem to be drawn from whatever they have in their reports). If a question does not list a CORRECT answer then select NONE/DOES NOT APPLY (that's why that option is there, folks! And yes, this was my answer on several questions! Don't freak out about it!) Assuming the answers are correct, then you will be taken to the report where you can print it or save it in PDF format (good idea, especially if you have to dispute something).
Keep in mind, under the law consumers are only entitled to a free credit REPORT, not a free credit SCORE (I am not defending this, but this is the law as it stands right now). Also there is a phone number in the event someone runs into a problem and needs to call (I can imagine this would be a headache). Sometimes things happen where the report must be sent by snail mail. I had this happen to me years ago with TransUnion (would not recognize my identity), although I had no trouble obtaining the other 2.
Finally, how are people being charged for something through this site without realizing it? At NO time was I ever asked for payment information, although I was offered identity protection as well as access to my credit score. Of course, I already know that only my report is free of charge and that the score is not included with the report. If you are asked for payment information (like a credit card number) you are either at a scam website or the legit website and have selected to receive a service other than your free report.

AnnualCreditReport.com barely works half the time. If the government is going to mandate we're owed one free credit report per year, they should make sure the means of obtaining it actually works. AnnualCreditReport.com is so broken it makes me think the credit agencies are colluding to keep it somewhat broken so that people can't actually get their free credit report.
Two problems currently: The manual request form (PDF) at manualRequestForm.action is corrupted. It will show up fine on your screen but when you try to print it on most major printers, the top section prints as a postscript error. Because the file is invalid / corrupt. So you can't actually request a credit report by mail, unless you have some other way of getting this form. They force you to request reports by mail (which doesn't work! see above) sometimes, for example Equifax's security questions were all bogus and made up. They had nothing to do with my credit history so I answered "none of the above" for all of them, and then they say we can't verify your identity and you'll have to mail in the form (broken) with SS card and driver's license. I tried this twice and both times the questions had nothing to do with any business I've ever heard of.

In addition, I tried calling the 877-322-8228 number also but it's just a recording. There is no way to get to a live person so I can get resolution about my file.
I was able to get my Experian annual credit report, but there were 16 items I had to dispute. When I clicked on the submit button, I got another error message stating it could not submit my disputes at this time. I tried for several hours to get my free credit reports from the top recommended sites, which include the three credit report companies. It's a sham. They make you jump through all kinds of hoops and then tell you that for your own "safety" they cannot let you have access to your credit report. They want you to use snail mail and pretty much send them every kind of documentation there is. It's a complete subversion of the laws. They are clearly doing this deliberately, making it very, very difficult for people to have the yearly access to their credit report that they are obligated by law to give them.
This is yet another illustration of the fact that big money and business has us (the people) by the balls and circumvents our freedom and economic rights at every turn. I'm sick from it. America is not a democracy. Big business can do whatever they like to us with absolutely no consequences!!! They do not even have to pay taxes or obey the laws. The website then had an error and locked the other two reports out. I cannot create a new inquiry, but was told I could pay for the two missing reports. Just don't give them your information, they want you to buy products, and they'll take your once-yearly access to do it.

It is OBVIOUS that ACR does not want to give you a free credit report. The web barriers are very difficult to surmount, so most people give up and pay money, as ACR wants. They say I have already received a free report within a year, so I am not eligible. But I did not. They ask very picky and detailed questions, which are unnecessary and often impossible to answer. They say "unable to complete your request" with no reason. Their Captcha character recognition system rejects most anything you enter. They reject you for any of the above and you have to start over or worse they say you are disqualified. They say you have to apply by mail. I got their form and filled it out and sent it back. They never replied.
So in desperation I paid them for a report. Then I found in the fine print on the very last web option, that now I was a "member" and they would charge me $25 additional every month. I never signed up for that and it is a complete ripoff. I had to call them to complain, and then they offered me half price to remain a member if I agreed to stay on for 5 years. THIS IS ALL A COMPLETE SCAM!!!

They seem to be discouraging people from getting their free credit report which we are entitled to by law, or so I thought. And why do I need to provide my full address and phone number to enter this review? So that I can get spammed by your so-called "service providers". Sorry, I provided fake data, spam away...

This site is horribly designed and the captcha system is broken. You can't make out Os and 0s, nor ls and 1s. This results in constant errors not allowing you to type in the correct captcha. Over and over this has happened throughout the years. This site is recommended through the FTC and until they fix their broken captcha system it should not be. Look at the past reviews, everyone has issues with it. It's not one person, it's not mistyping, it's a poor implemented captcha system. Furthermore they have no Contact Us page without the captcha page to even complain. I now have to waste my time calling into their 1 800 wait a lot line to get a simple credit report. Also rerouting everyone through 3 different credit report agencies is also poorly implement but I digress.

I have used this for several years and only had an issue once when trying to use the step 4 (go back to get next report) and that was my fault for clicking the back button on the browser. The one time I was able to get the form to upload it refused to exist in any other format than ".action" which is nothing I am familiar with. I tried getting the free report for Equifax, like I did with the other two companies, but Equifax's initial verifying questions don't apply (or if they did, they are unauthorized loans) so I answered correctly but the site said there is a problem and I would need to send in the written form. So I did, and included SocSec, Paystub, d.o.b., EVERYTHING requested.... DOE!!!! That was over a month ago and I have not heard squat. So I tried calling AnnualCreditReport today, but they have no-one connecting to talk to! Then I went to their site and filled in the 'Contact Us' page, but when I clicked on the "Tell Us About You" (the only link to click - but with no questions or space to add info), a new page tells me there was errors and I need to add more information about myself. Yea, ok, WHERE?!!
If I do the routine 3 times, it kicks me out and I have to start over, but it is futile. So to sum up, unable to get a credit report from Equifax because they won't accept "None of the Above" - or there is fraudulent activity on my report, unable to verify said fraudulent activity, no response after 30 days from AnnualCreditReport.com regarding the paper application with sensitive information, unable to contact AnnualCreditReport.com either by telephone, email or website, and lastly, after a month or so, STILL NO IDEA IF I AM THE VICTIM OF CREDIT FRAUD!!! This is quite the paradox. I may have exposed myself to credit fraud by asking for a credit report so I could monitor any credit fraud... My husband and I both tried to order our "free" credit reports from "AnnualCreditReport.com". We had reason to believe someone got a hold of our personal information. My husband tried over and over again and kept receiving an error message. Then it told him it could not be given "online" and that he would need to send a copy of his driver's license and social security card in order to have his reports mailed to him. Of course one would be insane to send such personal information through the mail so he tried calling the company to no avail. No "live" people to answer the phone, just an automated system.
So to date he has received nothing. He has tried several other times with the same results. I too went trough the same frustration. I finally got through the system without receiving a systems error but was informed I would not be able to access my reports online, rather they would be mailed to me. Well it's been over 5 months and I still have not received anything. I tried calling but still just get an automated system. I would love to know how they get away with this. It's obviously a ploy to get you to pay for your credit reports that by law they are supposed to give to all consumers at least 1 time per year. Where's the lawyers on this one?

I wanted to print out a free credit report, but I also wanted to obtain my credit score. It said there was a fee, which was fine. I submitted my bank card information, but an error message said my card could not be processed. I tried one more time, as it appeared as if I had entered information incorrectly. I still got the error message a second time. I've had problems with my bank card on other sites, so I tried a credit card. But I still got the error message, and this time it also said my score could not be provided online??? Then a link for some form pops up, and says I would have to submit my credit score request through the mail. I cut my losses, and just printed up a free credit report instead.
Just to make sure I wasn't charged, I checked my bank account. Turns out, I WAS charged! Twice! I'm still waiting for a third possible charge to show on my credit card. If the system said my card could not be processed, how am I getting charged?? I contacted them immediately to tell them I want a refund. That was two days ago... no response. I'm unable to track down a phone number for a live person. The charges show as Equifax, so I tried contacting them. They said they could not see any charges because it was through AnnualCreditReport.com, so they were unable to help. I've decided I am just going to send Annual Credit Report a refund request daily until they respond.

I printed out the 3 annual credit report so I could submit to my attorney but unfortunately, I lost them and trying to get another copy has been impossible. I need to speak to a live person so that I can explain what happened so that I can get another set of the annual credit report. I know that I have to probably pay but that is not a problem. Trying to get someone to speak to has been impossible. Can anybody help me?

This is what happens when you let people with a vested interest write the rules. I've fought with this site since it was started. I never got any satisfaction. Sometimes Equifax works but the other two... no. It's rigged to show errors and say they can't give you the report. They want you to pay. They force you to pay. It's a government-sanctioned bait-and-switch! How can we stop this? Class action or something? Where can I sign? Thank your local lobbyist for their influence in DC.

TransUnion Online Dispute - I have been trying to log in for over an hour and this website won't let me create a new password. This has been very frustrating. I made sure I entered at least 8 characters with letter and numbers and it keeps throwing up an error. It won't let me create a new account because it says I already have one that I probably created 6 years ago. It's very annoying and frustrating.

I went to the Annual Credit Report website and requested for my credit report. After viewing my Equifax report, I was told I could request my credit score for $7.95. After entering credit card number, I was told my request could not be processed. After chatting with an agent, I was told that my credit card was charged. They said they could not help me and I would need to contact Annual Credit Report. When I called them, I could not be put in contact with a human. Only an automated system where I could put my credit card info in again to be charged, assuming again for nothing. I called Equifax back and could not get a human after waiting 30 minutes. This is a shady bunch and put them in the same category as Free Credit Report.com, except that those guys give you something for money. This place gives you nothing.

Ok so I go back to each of the individual sites, since there is no log in for annual credit report. Each on says I have no account. Then when I went to dispute transunion, I tried to make a new account. Then it told me I already have an account. So I tried to log in again then it tells me I can't and need to reset my password and when it asks me my secret question. It is not even the question I answered and won't let me log in or change my password. I've been on the computer now for over 4 hours and I'm just pissed off. All I wanted was, my free reports.

My husband has many discrepancies on his credit because his dad’s name is similar. He got all information entered then he wanted to view it and have access for 30 days. The viewing was only our revolving credit. Then the computer page froze and wouldn't let us see anything else. Then I figured that I could close it and log in with the username and password. Well, there is no such site that lets you log in on annual credit report. When I tried each individual credit bureau, it didn’t work either. The only site that had a log in was ****. What a joke! Then the questionnaire asked if what they were selling was helpful. What a crap! I just want to get these stupid things cleared up. I could have sworn, I've already tried to do this twice and it’s still not taken care of. Why aren’t they getting in trouble yet?

I downloaded my credit files from all three bureaus the end of October 2011. I cannot locate them and I have been charged $16.95 for a membership in their whatever program. I called cs to get this stopped and I was told to send a fax showing the debit in my bank record. I did this and no satisfaction with the cancellation of membership. I called again and the cs lady asked me two questions about info in that report. I explained that the report was not available for me to see. She refused to aid me in any manner until I could answer these questions. I go back to annualcreditreport.com and am told that I must pay for the second report and they are refusing to make the report available via computer screen. They stated they would mail the report to me by USMail. Still have not received the report by any means.

I have been trying to get my annual free report using the government authorized website since November 5, 2011. I have not gotten a report from TransUnion in over a year. I need to check my credit report because someone stole a mail from the Unemployment Department with my social security number on it. I have tried using both Chrome and Explorer, but with no luck. Most of the time after entering my personal information, I get a message saying there was a processing error. If I am lucky, I get to click on TransUnion, which transfers me to the next site. I click "next" and then get a message that says they are having technical problems, and to bookmark the page and come back in 30 minutes. I just want my free credit report that is guaranteed to me by law.

They will not process you request online. When you go through all the filling out of info, you will get an error page, no matter how many times you try. The 3 credit agencies do not want to give your report for free. By disabling the site you have to contact them direct and pay a fee. The whole thing is a joke, it's against the law, but it would seem they do not have to follow the law.

I went to the above website to request my annual credit reports, and since then, I have been receiving via my email, credit card offers, and credit repair offers. I thought it was illegal for a company like that to sell my email address. I am very careful about marking or unmarking boxes excluding my email from receiving any or further communication from that particular website or any other website. What can be done? I do not want to have to change my email address. I'm not sure on what to do next. Do you have any ideas?

I called Equifax and it said, “For your free credit report, it will be 7 dollars,” and it was automated and wanted a credit card. WTF! I am about to be homeless and my credit is screwed, I can't get accepted for a credit card. I just want my report to see what can be fixed, I already wish I was dead. Is it too hard to just get 1 of them to give me a really free ** report? Please help.

I do not have a problem with paying what I requested but I couldn't get my score when everything shut down not to mention calling them, you recieve nothing but automated services & can't get to a Human Being.
I have asked Equifax to help me & they can't find anything on it that it was even requested. I am trying to get with AnnualCreditReport.com to no avail.
What or how can I get to them in order to resolve this? Not to mention having to file this compliant.
Thank you for your assistance and or reporting this.

I accessed site to order my annual free report from the 3 credit bureaus. First I tried Equifax that advised it can't provide me with an online report; instead I have to mail my request (or phone in) and wait for my report in 15 days. Then I tried TransUnion which won't let me login since I was a prior customer and asked for my username and password. After a year, I don't have that data.
It was easy getting a temporary password, but TU led me through a wild goose chase on its site to recover my username. After an hour of scrolling through webpages, false leads, false links to FAQs, I finally got a customer service# that I can't get a live person until tomorrow. It has been most frustrating. It seems that these agencies hope the consumer will break down and purchase the report instead.
