Buyer Beware! This company will damage every one of your belongings. When you call to tell them about it they will refuse to pay to replace or fix it. You will have to deal with their very rude employees. Their employee that will come to your home to quote your move will lie about his company and when you will receive your furniture.

Atlas Van Lines will pack you up and give you a guaranteed window of time to receive your shipment for Out of State delivery but there are no penalties if they do not meet that deadline. They are also terrible with updating customers about where their possessions are (still in a warehouse in Ohio 2 weeks after packing) and can not even give us an estimated delivery date. Our "guaranteed by" delivery date was 5 days ago, nothing has even been loaded on a truck. Please be aware when considering a move with them. If I could give less than 1 star I would.

Whatever you do, do NOT use this service. We had our stuff moved out of our home in Austin, TX on June 11. They assured us that our stuff would arrive at the ABSOLUTE LATEST of June 23. The day I'm writing this, it is June 28 and they are saying it may be another 2+ weeks before we get our things. That means that they will potentially be OVER A MONTH AFTER THEIR LATEST DATE when they finally get our things here. Right now, our ENTIRE HOUSE is sitting in a warehouse back in TX while we are sitting in an empty house in MD.
APPARENTLY, there's a TX driver shortage. They knew this when they gave us our timeline. It has impacted both my work and my husband's work in SEVERE ways. We have bounced between 6 different hotels just trying to stay in a bed instead of sleeping on the ground in an empty house. We've called and begged for them to PLEASE just DELIVER OUR THINGS. But all they can tell us is that there's NO TIMELINE FOR WHEN OUR STUFF WILL BE ON A TRUCK.
They are in violation of their contract, unwilling to help, and essentially torturing us. WE JUST WANT OUR THINGS. We are at our wit's end and don't know what to do. If I could give a lower rating, I would - that's how terrible this entire experience has been. We REGRET using this service so much. PLEASE save yourself the sheer stress and unhappiness this horrible company has caused. We've filed a BBB complaint and frankly, we're willing to take this further if necessary. They've, in essence, stolen from us and are now holding our items hostage.

I discovered that the salesman who was supposed to put in the paperwork requesting the refund didn’t do it properly. Once I spoke to a manager, he looked into the problem and processed my refund which I then received 24 hours after our conversation. Problem solved. Sue B.

I booked with Atlas Van and paid a fully refundable down payment of $742.00. The move was permanently cancelled around June 10. My money was to be back in my bank account in 24-48 hours. As of June 24 it has still not been refunded. I’m very concerned that I have been scammed. What recourse do I have? Sue **

I definitely feel like I’ve been scammed by Atlas. I’m moving from Oregon to Texas so I had to go through Atlas in Indiana - Shetler moving. Initially they communicate well and make you feel comfortable about the process. However, once my stuff was picked up, I’ve received horrible customer service and been charged thousands of dollars in surprise charges. I was quoted a price of $6500 for a 1 bedroom apartment that they would pack - which is average from my research.
Then on moving day they claimed that they didn’t know they were supposed to pack my stuff. Even though there are packing charges on the quote and they had me reserve the loading dock at my apartment for 6 hours. Perfect amount of time to pack up a 1 bedroom and load it onto the truck. Excessive if you really think I’m going to have everything packed. Of course that would cost me about $2k more and I was in no position to decline since this was discovered on the day that I had to be out of my apartment. Classic bait and switch operation. My final quote included lots of hidden fees and totaled $10,500. I was told that they saved me money by just charging me a full pack and not a custom pack. I argued that nothing was custom packed and they said custom pack refers to a partial pack. So apparently somehow a partial pack costs more than a full pack. What a scam.
Next is delivery. I still don’t have my things. They give you a 3 week window for delivery time and at the very end of my 3 week window is when I start my new job. I asked if there was any way I could get it before the end of the window. I was told that they most likely could get me my stuff within 2 weeks and it shouldn’t be a problem. Of course this was a lie and I’ll be at work on the delivery date. I asked what my options were and basically they will not work with you at all for delivery. I was told that I will have to put my stuff in storage and pay weekend overtime charges for a weekend delivery. This will cost me over $2500.
So now I’m up to $13000 and I still don’t have my stuff. I was told that they could try and delay delivery for a few hours until I return home from work, but they would have to “beg the driver” to do so and it would still cost me $500. Never heard of a moving company who has to bribe their own drivers with their customer’s money. How shady can you get?
I’ve sent numerous emails and called multiple times just to get updates on things. No one actually tells the truth. Eventually I contacted the 3rd party company doing the moving myself just to get truthful answers - essentially doing Shetler’s job for them. I even was transferred to Bob Shetler himself and left him a voicemail. My call hasn’t been returned and it’s been 2 weeks. Although at this point I’d expect nothing less from this sketchy company he’s running. The saddest part is that they have the BBB stamp on their website. I have to wonder who they bribed to get that... If you enjoy being ripped off and getting zero customer service then by all means use Shetler moving. Otherwise stay very far away.

From the start, I was met with kindness and concern regarding my move situation and all the details! The customer service rep was always available to answer my questions, and when the move was scheduled and preparations were being made for the truck to come, I felt confident and at ease. When the movers arrived, all of them were courteous and friendly. They handled my items with care, and they were receptive to my concerns. I knew exactly what to expect as the move progressed. During the move itself, I was called by the driver and knew where he was on his trip, when he was going to arrive, and my mom, who was my point person at the destination, was treated with care and compassion! Overall, I was very pleased with the service I received!

The moving team was incredible, I give them 5 stars. Very hard working, honest, punctual, etc. I'm never one to write a review but I am extremely upset. I have 5 month old twins, a 7yr old and two dogs. We moved cross country for my husband's job that relocated us and the moving company told us they would arrive on a Wednesday to pack us up, and have our stuff delivered to our new home in a different state on Saturday. My husband stayed behind with Atlas until they finished, while I left to get the rest of the gang out of the way with the intention of staying in a hotel for about 3 nights.
Atlas decided AFTER packing our home to take on someone else's load after ours, and told us they would now not be arriving for another WEEK! I had to get the keys on Friday morning, and now am having to extend a hotel until they decide to show. We have no beds, no cribs for my twins, no furniture, NOTHING and my daughter starts at her new school Monday and my husband starts his new job Monday, with non of his work clothes, that were packed.... Listen, I understand it's a moving company and things happen....but please don't tell me you're going to arrive Saturday to deliver our whole life, and then extend the delivery date several days when I'm in a new state with my children with nothing.
Please be more honest and punctual to allow those to prepare and to know exactly when to expect delivery. I've spent a lot of money getting duplicates of things I need, that I won't need when our things arrive because I figured we'd be fine for 3 days to get and had them all packed away in the truck. I'm an owner of companies and feel this is very unprofessional.

A company I was working for decided to move to another location in Charlotte, NC. Atlas Van Lines was hired to handle the move. Our Company was a large distributor with many items to move. Most of our inventory was stored in small bins. They supplied the carts and we pulled each bin in such a way that it went on the shelf at the new location in order. With their shelving carts and logistics we were able to load and move 90% of a 10,000 sqft facility in 4 days. We shut down on a Thursday and were up and running the following Monday.

This review only covers before our move and the actual day of moving. We scheduled a big cross country move from Napa CA to Portland ME with Bisson and Atlas. Bisson was the agent and Brian and Michelle were awesome! Brian worked on his days off to help us schedule the move and prepare everything. When minor issues occurred, Michelle was right on it and was professional, friendly, and helpful. The moving truck showed up on moving day and exactly on time. Mike, the driver, was very communicative, polite, respectful with our property and with his staff. Mike managed the inventory list and its accuracy. The moving team was delightful, had lots of personality, and fast in wrapping our furniture with great care. There was not one mark or scratch on the walls. Truly amazing in every way! We moved locally. As an older couple, we didn't want to pack our own dishes, artwork, etc. so we had the moving company do it. Some of the time I watched as they packed fragile items. Our total charges were within $10 of the estimated charges.

To put it simply, the moving experience with Atlas has been terrible. I contacted Atlas in April 2020 as it was on a list of companies my job works with. I needed a mover to help relocated a 3 bed, 3 bath from central PA to Indiana. When I initially spoke with the sales rep, Jared, he told me that pick up would be June 20th and delivery could be as early as June 22nd (first day of our new lease and the desired day of move in). He provided a delivery window of June 22nd to July 1st and when I voiced my concerns he said that it is unlikely my stuff would take that long and would most likely deliver around the 22nd.
A few weeks later I receive an email from Jenny and introduces herself as the customer service representative taking over my move. When she connected in early May, she told me that pick up would be June 19th and delivery between June 22nd - July 1st. She calls me back to inform me that pick up could be between the 18th - 20th of June, but will call on the 17th to give me the confirmed date and time.
I called her on Monday June 15th, but did not get a response until June 16th because she was out of office on Monday. She informed me that the movers will be coming June 18th between 8 am - 10 am to pick up my stuff from central PA. However, the movers called me June 18th at 8:30 am to tell me they were just leaving New Jersey. They arrived at approximately 11:30 am and apologized for the delay. I had to take leave from my job earlier than expected to be available for pick up. The movers made a comment that my stuff won't be delivered till after June 26th.
Suddenly, I get a call from Jenny who called me to tell me that my stuff would not be delivered till between June 27th till July 1st. So I had to tell my new job that I might miss my first day of work which would be taken from my paid vacation time. Jenny told me she would call me on June 26th to give me the update. Today I received a call from Jenny that she will call me on Tuesday June 30th to update me. I told her that is unacceptable - I at least expected the movers to make delivery by June 27th. Of course they weren't, she told me the movers were still on the East Coast making deliveries.
If they knew their schedule months in advance, why did they put me in this situation in which they knew delivery would actually, most certainly be closer to July 1st and not June 22nd (which was inflated to make it seem like it might actually be delivered that early or even any day before July 1st). I am currently living on the floor on an air mattress with a toddler for two weeks. We have no furniture and sit on the floor to eat.
Jenny, pointed out that I signed the contract and thus agreed to the terms. I informed her that Jared assured me the delivery would be earlier. I told Jenny that my work schedule conflicts with delivery, she threatened that if I did not make myself available for pick up that they would put my stuff in storage. I asked to talk to someone in charge, Jenny told me it was out of her hands but I could talk to Jared. I called Jared without an answer and left a voice message asking to call me back.
Ultimately, I'm sure they deliver promptly for some of their customers (such as the deliveries they are currently making with the van that has my stuff on it in the East Coast while I sleep on the floor in an empty apartment without even a table to eat at with my toddler). But when it comes to a distance (Central PA to Central Indiana) they are atrocious and management is very rude.

I originally rated Atlas well. When packing in Las Vegas they seemed to be professional and thorough. When I took delivery in NC I was slow to unpack. Actually I'm still not completely finished. In summary almost all my furniture was damaged in some form and several items were missing. Because I didn't have the time to unpack quickly most of the items I will not be compensated for. I would warn against Atlas if asked.

BEWARE -ZERO STARS. This company will Steal your goods and damage your items. My husband's company has moved us 3X they used Al but this time being in Gillette Wy, the A1 company didn't travel that far. So we were stuck using this BAD company. Al only damaged a stove door and a stand. They paid right away for the damages they had caused.
The Atlas Moving company lost three boxes of dolls and damaged HTF office desk, lamps, Collectible doll furniture, computer and end tables. We started a claim in Nov 2019 and as of 1/16/2020. We contacted the Weichert workforce mobility company that hired this Atlas moving company. We worked with them a couple of weeks and they couldn't get the ball rolling. They were like, "Well, the AMV company stated you didn't fill out some high-value sheets." I never received this sheet. Almost everything in our home would be listed as High-end? I own 32 pairs of Miss Me Jeans and $300 a box wouldn't cover that. The flat Panels (Samsung Curved 65-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV) 9 Samsung PN51D490 51-Inch 720p 600Hz 3D Plasma HDTV) 9 Samsung Electronics QN75Q7F 75-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart QLED TV) And a new another Smart T.V. only 50in, I guess the Survey guy didn't care about our belongings to have the move to go smoothly.
This company should be SHUT DOWN. They should have customers sign a waiver to opt-out of instead of saying they emailed. Sure enough when my husband looked back into his old emails, there it was. We were in another stated looking for homes with a lazy company. Yes, you have it, the Weichert company was the company being used to relocate us. I have never heard of a company that sells a home, have seekers call in a day before to get an appointment to see a house and then a systems call you the next morning to make sure you still want to view homes. You must go out and look at the homes a day before and get a list of what you want to see. WTH, to me they were not hungry to sell a home. In OKC you just call a realtor and they are on you like your shadow.
My husband's company is now looking into this mess of them not paying the full value being it states full value in the contract for a cooperate move. Yes, they offered us a low ball of $1600 to replace what was damaged and $300 each for the missing boxes that had over $36000 of COLLECTIBLE INTEGRITY TOY FASHION ROYALTY DOLLS AND THE HIGH-END DOLL CLOTHING THAT YOU CAN'T BUY ANYMORE. They stated we failed to fill out a High Dollar foam. LOL, Really? What the heck was the survey of the guy walking through our home for?
This guy must have been new. He didn't order CRATES for Flat Panels. He didn't order some special bolts for a Samsung Washer and Dryer sets. Get this, the guys were loading our Flat Panels in boxes boxes for a mattress. I asked what they were doing and stated they must be crazy. The driver had to call in an order to locate a local person to come out and create the panels. Then the washers the same man had to return the next day to do the washers. But people say these are professional. I'm at a loss for words with this company.
The team arrived to box our items and the first day they left all our boxed items to the side so we could move about, yet they left trash on shelves, in the corners and out in the garage. So we left it over, thinking the next day they would gather all the trash. Next day, they arrived and packed more boxes and started to load the truck with our boxes, I followed a young man taking a box with my high-end doll clothing out to the truck without a number sticker on the box, he entered the truck, so I asked where was the sicker, he stated that he would set it to the side and add to a bigger box, okay being I don't know the process.
At the end of the day, they loaded about 75% of our belongings. STOP they didn't do tag-Out with the locks for the doors for us to sign off on the paperwork when they seal the doors, the guy said, "Don't use them if something gets lost or damaged." "You're covered," the young man stated. LIES LIES LIES. So, they took our belongings to a hotel with us not knowing if they were going through our items. Bad Company.
We didn't accept the Atlas Moving Van Companies offer. Now seeking a lawyer to recovers the losses. I will never get the lost dolls back nor the lovely clothing and they didn't even say what happen, only said, you have 30 days to accept the low-ball buy out. Where is the Law firm Cochran, Cherry, Givens, and Smith when you need them?

Beware of Atlas Van Lines. We hired them to move us from Asheville, NC to Loma Linda, CA. They did the packing and the hauling, and our goods took up a whole truck load. The result was a lot of broken and missing articles that the company is mostly refusing to take responsibility for, even though we opted to pay extra for full insurance. For example, the six heavy components of our high quality stereo system that cost $11,000 in 1978 and had been working excellently before the move were jammed into two large boxes without any padding.
When I found them after the movers had dumped them on the wrong floor of the new house both boxes were burst asunder, and of course the system is no longer working. However, Atlas says it is not responsible for damage caused by road vibrations! A most attractive Tiffany-style lamp-shade was jammed in the middle of a large box surrounded by heavy items which broke and squashed it, ruining the item. I priced what it would cost to replace it at $2,000, but Atlas is offering only a couple of hundred. The driver chose not to check off the items on the packing list as they unloaded because they were "running late" and I was required to tell the unloaders where to take each box. Now Atlas refuses to take responsibility for 3 missing pairs of almost-new foot-ware and 6 trays each holding about 25 CDs. This was anything but a professional job--in many respects it showed vast incompetence. I would give this zero stars if that were an option.

These movers damaged so much of my property. Ripped off bottoms of bookcases and desks. Cracked side of my dresser. Big dent in dryer. Bullied me into not counting boxes while they sat on my furniture and used my ladders to unload my stuff. Wouldn’t put gym equipment back together and lost all the screws to it. They wanted to give me 1000.00 for over 6000.00 worth of damage. They tried to devalue all of my big ticket items and only pay for small items. I have escalated this to supervisors who won’t give straight answers. They just keep trying to get me to settle for nothing after causing a lot of damage. Buying extra protection did not help either. Atlas moving has proved to be a horrible experience. The initial move seemed fine. They showed up on time and the movers were careful and courteous. I signed a list of items that were moved and two “high value” items. When the movers arrived I was told I needed to rent a second moving truck because the big rig was too large to get in my driveway. The added expense was $1,000.00. When they arrived I was handed a clipboard and was told to check off items as the movers called them out. I agreed. They called out numbers and boxes were missing. They had several extra boxes on the truck without tags. They proceed to open up the boxes so I could look in to see if it was mine. It was all very rushed and confusing. After they left I found something of high value was missing. Every attempt to reconcile has been horrible and it’s been two months with no resolution. Do NOT use them!

When they picked up the stuff. I got a bill for 16000.00. The crew were nice as well as the driver but there was damages to many items including new set of washer and dryer. New true treadmill commercial version. For which Atlas van hired a 3rd party to take it apart. And they did have no clue how to do that. And once it arrived to Salem they sent me a replacement for safety key they damaged during taking it apart and asked me to deal with it after they estimate the repair for $ 600.
The nightmare began when I start to deal with their claims department lady. Chloe **. They claimed that my stuff damages were pre-existing. She will offer $100 dollars for a California king black beauty rest mattress. That they dragged through a dirty floor and stained the edge of the mattress. And the n began. Guys showed up with too small a truck, informed me I would have to pick and choose 'cause they couldn't fit it all. I said not my problem, so they got another small truck, ended up not needing it. They come in with an initial quote and tell you that the less you give them and the least amount of heavy items you transport will lessen your final bill. So I went and sold many of my belongings to lower the final cost. Not the case at all, got charged for 900 pounds over what I actually transported, and when I contacted the office to discuss the invoice, after getting transferred to multiple people not one person was able to justify the charges nor explain why. I proceeded with emailing customer service since no one from the local office was getting back to me, and customer service never even replied to my e-mail...weeks later still have not heard back.
Not to mention they wait until 3 hours before your shipment is delivered to send you your final bill which gives you barely any notice to come up with payment especially seeing as it was much higher than expected. I feel like they take advantage of the fact that you literally have your hands tied if you want your shipment handed over while the driver is standing in your driveway, knowing you have no choice to pay whatever the amount is. Will not be using them again in the future.

Guys showed up with too small a truck, informed me I would have to pick and choose 'cause they couldn't fit it all. I said not my problem, so they got another small truck, ended up not needing it. Remarkable thing - my items, even though they were reduced by more than 1/3 since arriving at storage, had miraculously gained 20% more weight than the day they arrived in storage. There is simply no other explanation than dishonesty. We asked them to check the weight again. They did, unbelievably, our items gained another 200 lbs! Who knew storage was so fattening. I sure didn't. Then Atlas made a grand gesture, and said we wouldn’t have to pay for the ‘extra weight’ they’d discovered. Unbelievable. Several days after move out we were informed that without our permission or knowledge, our shipment was broken into two, so we’d miss two days of work instead of 1 to receive the goods. Awesome! Nothing like asking for more time off in a NEW JOB! First shipment -Things showed up, some broken and damaged.
Guys refused to uncrate a huge item, saying well we didnt crate it. What am I supposed to do? Fly the crate guy out? Unbelievable. Then one and a half business days before our second shipment was due to arrive, we were told the driver was having ‘trouble’ (mechanical trouble? Relationship trouble? Is my stuff strewn all over I-80? I have no idea, the ‘trouble’ was never defined) and delivery would be delayed. Again, more time off. So as I wait for the second shipment with fingers crossed that it will arrive, hopefully somewhat intact and some time before the next large family gathering I have to cancel due to Atlas' ineptness and disregard, I figure I am going to spread the word far and wide that this is a horrible company who could care less about my goods, my life or my business. They don't have to, they get paid before I get my belongings. All those promises of quality, care and schedule are meaningless.

Nelson ** (Atlas Van Lines agent) is the worst company we have ever dealt with. They have robbed us of our sanity and our money. We hired them to move us from the Chicago Area to the Denver area (a ~$14K move) and they have provided the worst customer service I have ever seen. First, our household goods were loaded up in Chicago. They promised in writing a delivery date in Denver of June 23rd. After numerous calls and little response, our goods were "delivered" on July 2nd - a whopping 10 days late with no explanation other than they were out of drivers.
And I use "delivered" in "air quotes" as our items were stuffed to the gills inside the center of a semi-truck. When they opened the side doors I was shocked on how our personal items were stacked on top of each other. Almost every box was crushed, and many plastic bins were broken. They also opened bottom panels on the semi, and literally pieces, parts and items started falling out from multiple households right onto the street which the drivers had to sort though (asking us what was ours and what was not?!?).
After going through all of the boxes finally, we have discovered that we are missing parts to so many things (shoe racks, 3 metal shelving units, our 2 mountain bikes are missing the hubs, hardware for assembling tables, legs for tables, etc...) I cannot list them all. Our treasured dining room table was smashed underneath the contents of another family's load (they do not even try to seperate them) and all 4 legs broken.
There are so many parts missing, we are still discovering issues as of today, July 29th. They found our log rack and the parts to one of our tables in the cab of another company's semi 7 days after the delivery date. I submitted a claim on July 8th, which was an extremely detailed typed letter with forms attached. I courteously explained what the issues were and submitted a fair amount of the claim along with receipts. However, their claims department has been no help at all, and I have received no contact from them other than 1 e-mail on July 10th saying they have received my claim, and someone picking up the dining room table and taking it for (what we have been told is 4 weeks) repair. I called them today and they said I needed to fill out another form.
I feel based upon the # of damaged items, missing items, the quality of their service, uber-poor execution and uncaring attitude that this may be the worst company on the planet. I am very sad to post this review as I really strive to post positive reviews, but when I know I have been ripped off, I have little recourse. If anyone from Nelson ** reads this I suggest you pay my claim.

I needed to move from St. Louis, MO to Tokyo, Japan for work. I contracted my move with Guardian Relocation, a subsidiary of Atlas Van Lines. They quoted me for around $9,200, which was normal for the distance I wanted to move my belongings and with a pickup date of 12/14/2018, an estimated arrival at port of 01/05/2019 and an ETA of 01/22/2019, which was significantly faster than every other offer. This probably should've been a red flag for me but I thought, worst case, they'd deliver my goods at about the same time as the competition.
The movers were scheduled to arrive at 10:00 at my apartment but didn't actually get there until about 11:00 because they got lost. I can't really fault them for this as the complex was only built about 7 months prior and the address wasn't listed for all map services yet. The moving crew was quick, professional and friendly and I was initially very pleased with their work. My one qualm was the way they packed my mattress, a hybrid-foam variety. I told them that they shouldn't leave it folded in half when they loaded the container as that would result in damage to it and they assured me that they would put it in a proper mattress box and load it with care.
At the end of the loading process, they handed me the manifest, which I looked over. Everything appeared to be on there (although all goods were listed as being in the kitchen, which they weren't). The crew went and weighed the shipment, which came in under estimate by about 1,000lbs. Finally, they told me my goods would move out of their warehouse on the 17th after I paid the invoice with cashier's check.
This is where we started to have problems. I didn't receive an invoice on the 17th. Or the 18th. Or the 19th. In fact, I had to email them several times and then call them on the 26th, the day before I was scheduled to fly out, to even get a figure for how much I owed them. So, I had to rush to the bank, get their cashier's check and then have my mother, who drove us to the airport, drop it off at their office. I still hadn't received an invoice for my move. In retrospect, I shouldn't have paid at this point.
After arriving in Japan, my wife and I settled into our new apartment. I then emailed the moving company on January 5th to determine where our household goods were as I assumed they would have arrived at port or would at least be in transit. At this point, I was unable to actually reach them and was unable to get any detail into where my goods were. Finally, I received an email on the 16th of January stating that my goods should arrive on the 28th of January, which was approximately 6 days late. I wasn't pleased but given the logistics of the situation, I figured it wouldn't be an issue. However, the goods didn't arrive on the 28th. The Japanese movers told my wife that the goods wouldn't arrive until the 22nd of February, a whole month later than expected. There was no communication from Guardian/Atlas on this.
Finally, the movers arrived and I find several of my things soiled with some sort of rust-colored substance from what I assume was the inside of the shipping container. I'm not sure how the items were stained as they were supposedly packed in boxes. Moreover, my mattress was also soiled and folded in half, even though I was assured that it would be packed properly! I discussed this with the moving insurers and was reimbursed so that wasn't a problem, however. Finally, several boxes hadn't actually been labeled. If I'd been a dishonest person, I could've claimed that they hadn't been delivered, which is more of an issue for them than me I suppose, but it shows the lack of care that was taken throughout the process.
The last straw in this odyssey was the email I received on 6/12/2019 stating that I still owed them a balance for the moving insurance. As I hadn't ever received an invoice and 6 months had passed, it was my assumption that I had paid my account. Clearly, Guardian/Atlas doesn't keep good records. Throughout my move, Guardian/Atlas have demonstrated a lack of professionalism. Although their moving personnel were good at their jobs, management was clearly mediocre at best. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone else but I know how toxic the whole industry is so, unfortunately, they might still be your best option.

At the move destination we were informed by the driver that the truck had been robbed overnight and the driver showed us the broken lock and pictures of the back of his truck when he opened it and made the discovery that morning. The move for us was already very stressful due to other factors so we just proceeded in unloading the remaining items. We had no internet or cell phone service at our new house so there wasn’t much else to do. We were re-assured by Ernie’s that they would “take care of us”.
We were instructed to submit a claim to Atlas which we did immediately. We quickly compiled a list to the best of our knowledge of the items that were stolen and submitted a claim including replacement cost value, weight and descriptions of all items to the best of our knowledge. The list was extensive since there were a large number of tools. items totaled approximately 3100.00. We called Ernie’s and Atlas many times but had no further communication from Ernie’s, no callbacks, the driver never answered to our requests for the pictures. Atlas recently called us and offered us approximately 300.00 which we assume of .60 per pound. We did sign the agreement stating .60 per pound for damage, however this, in our opinion is not related to the theft- it is for damages. Ernie’s Operations Manager repeatedly stated that the company would “make this” right” but has never returned any of our phone calls.
We believe that Ernie’s did NOT give reasonable care in preventing the theft of our belongings for the following reasons: Transported additional items at the end of the packing process that were not inventoried, they said- “hey, got extra room” so we have no proof that they are missing no recollection of items that we did not put on the claim form. After all, we were only driving eight hours away. Secured the vehicle with a substandard lock that was easily cut. Parked in a side lot by the hotel that was had no lighting, did not have any security and was not part of the hotel parking area at all. Driver failed to file a police report until we repeatedly requested it be filed. No police came to the scene. No investigation was done.

I was quoted in the low $16,000 range for my move. My items were picked up and sat inside their truck for 3 weeks in Cleveland before leaving for Arizona during which time it rained for a number of days. When the semi arrived at the storage facility I was advised that before they would start unloading I would have to pay an additional $1,700 for extra packing. If I refused to agree to pay the additional amount all of my belongings would be taken to a warehouse in Phoenix until I agreed to pay the additional amount. During this time I would also be charged a storage fee! So what could I do but pay the additional amount as they were in total control of all of my possessions!
Unfortunately I could not be present during the unloading as I still had business in Cleveland. This was a MAJOR mistake on my part! When I was able to check on my belongings my 10'X40' unit was packed almost to the ceiling and one of the 2 access doors could not be opened as things were jammed against it. This size unit was recommended by Atlas! None of my furniture could be seen as it was packed in the middle of the unit. I paid a local mover to move my items from storage to my house 6 miles away and I was present during 100% of this move. This mover was very careful with my belongings and did no damage to anything.
During this process is when I noticed all of the items that were damaged by Atlas. I know that 95% of the damage done happened after Atlas people removed all of their protective blankets (their property) then haphazardly piled my furniture on top of each other with zero regard for scratches. (The other 5% of damage was caused by the rain that got into the semi when it was sitting in the Cleveland rain. This caused a large water stain on a very expensive walnut cabinet for housing high end stereo components). There was other damage caused to a second cabinet which included 5 large scratches on the top and sides. Other damage included holes poked thru the sides of two sofas and another sofa which was caved in on the left side, scratches on the backs of 4 dining room chairs and on the supports for the glass table. This was an $8,000 set!
Also a very expensive living room table covered with chrome & polished brass plates was badly damaged, dented and scratched. Regarding this item the thing that was so upsetting was that it looked like the chrome and brass pieces were peeled back with a screwdriver "on purpose"! This kind of malicious damage could not be done by piling heavy things on top of it! Other damage included a subwoofer for my home theater which had a hole punched in the cone of the speaker, a surround sound processor which no longer passed a video signal (no picture).
I had my own insurance which covered my things while en route to Arizona (I paid $850 for a special policy thru State Farm Insurance and another policy which covered my things while in the storage unit but there was no insurance coverage for damage caused by Atlas when they were unloading and jamming my things into the storage unit and this is the loophole that they counted on that absolved them from all blame!) At least if I would have been present when they were unloading. I could have short-circuited their poor treatment of my things! After fighting with these people for 6 months my settlement was $22.00! Does this sound like a company you would trust with your possessions??!!

DO NOT USE THIS MOVER!! This company will scam you. We paid them over $15,000 to pack and move our things. We paid extra money for them to pack our TV's as well as assembling and reassembling our exercise equipment. Our curved OLED $3000 TV arrived in a TV box with only packing paper. The driver admitted he had never packed that kind of TV before. It arrived, and when I turned it on it had a large blue line running down the front of it. I researched the issue and it was likely caused by a wire coming loose on the motherboard. This likely happened because it was mishandled. Our Elliptical Machine was damaged, and put together incorrectly. Parts missing and console not working. According to the service company they had come out here it was $1500 to fix the elliptical.
When I called Atlas they refused to pay for both items stating they don't cover truck vibrations, and that it's not actually insurance it's "valuation" whatever that means. When you talk to the sales people they will lie to you and tell you everything is covered etc... They will try to get you to buy it. Basically they will lie their ** off. So what they do is break your stuff, and then they scam you after the fact. The broke some expensive things on my move and they are paying nothing. Never use this company, find an alternative.

The moving experience was traumatic, partly because of major breakage in 3 pieces of furniture, one of which could no longer be used) but we understood that because the move was done during the busy season and people doing that job don't care about the customer's belongings. Because it was a cross country move, things had to be unloaded off the first truck and kept in a storage unit for a few days. The furniture looked as if everything was put in the unit and then pushed with something to shut the door. It was unpleasant and the insurance didn't pay for the damage.
BUT, the worst part was a helper hired by the Atlas Van Lines truck driver. He went into a room with a sign on the door distinctly marked to stay out (there was a dog in there and she could not be fooled), and disappeared while we were settling up with the driver. I saw him sneaking down the back staircase from where he'd been wandering around upstairs. There was one computer turned on at the time (in that room marked to stay out), and within 48 hours, someone tried to hack my email account. Naturally, I suspect that guy because he proved his dishonesty by being where he wasn't supposed to be, but can't prove it, of course. The truck driver indicated that he knew the helper and often called upon him for help unloading. Other people who are more street savvy may read this and think 'well, what did you expect, greenhorn?' and it's true we are, or were, fairly naive, trusting people. It is what it is; take from this what you can use.

We moved from The Toronto area to Vancouver Island Oct. 2018. The day before our move we phoned to ask when the truck would arrive and waited. No one got back to us. Moving day we called again and no one got back to us so we called the original booking agent and she found out they had lost our order. They scrambled to find a truck and sent one from London Ontario. It finally arrived at 3pm to load our stuff. The crew worked hard and with Our great preparation was able to finish at 9pm. Needless to say it was very stressful as we had to be out and start driving west the next morning with our two dogs. We arrived in Nanaimo 7 days later and took possession of our house and waited for the truck to arrive within the contracted window. Well, we slept on the floor because delivery was 4 days late past the window.
After paying for insurance to cover any damages and there was damages the crew chief told us if we made a claim it would come out of his pay. I cannot blame the crew or the booking agent because they did their best under difficult circumstances. But after head office screwed up the booking, the schedule and sold us useless insurance they should at least contact us. We filled out a "satisfaction survey" and waited nothing... Then called the agent and she said someone would contact us... Nothing. So after spending over $16,000 we have been completely ignored.

Absolutely do not use this company if you want to receive your belongings intact. We got a $1,600 quote at the beginning. They picked up all my property everything that I own out of my house. Took it to a warehouse then called me and said I owed $2,500 more and they would not deliver my things until I paid 25 hundred more dollars. They didn't arrive in California until a month later with all of my belongings and ask for another $1,300 cash so my $1,600 move turned into a $5,000 move and every single thing that was packed is broken. All of my furniture is damaged. I am not exaggerating. Everything I own was ransacked while in their warehouse and is broken. If you value your property take the time to get a moving truck and do it yourself. These people will rob you financially and everything you own. I have plenty of pictures that I will be sharing. Please do not use this company and tell everybody that you can--- do not use this company!!!

We interviewed two companies for moving and storage services. Atlas was one of the two. Brent, with Atlas, came out to our home, talked to us about his service, garnered what our needs are, and then took an inventory of our household items to be moved and stored. When we received his quote, it was over $4,000 higher than the other company's quote, with the approximate weight of the household items within a fraction of the other company's weight. We called Brent and ask him why he might be so much higher than the other company, and he promptly told us that "maybe this isn't a good fit."
We explained that the other company came out $4,000 lower, with nearly the same weight, that we wanted to give him an opportunity to rework his numbers, or at the very least, justify/explain the costs. He said he would take a look at the quote and get back with us. Several days have passed and we are now thinking that Brent and Atlas would prefer clients who do not look carefully at the quotes/fine print and sign on without question. To be fair, we asked the other company to look again at their quote. They did and could not figure out how Atlas came up with a figure $4,000 higher than what they quoted. Needless to say, we have written Brent and Atlas off; we are going with the other company. Bottom line? Buyer beware.

Contracted with Atlas Moving because our small town didn't have a local mover. Price quoted $4,000 and movers could come when we needed them to arrive. They offered 30 day storage which would allow us time to locate someplace to live. Head Mover went over inventory when they arrived and explained they would help finish packing using their supplies. They worked hard and fast. They topped the moving supplies out at $600 but said we had too much for the original quote. We paid them Over $10,000 to move us. The head mover asked my husband three times to tip the moving crew. He explained we had nothing left to tip them with. They took their own tip!
One of their guys "repacked" our dresser saying it was "too heavy". I said I would do it. He wouldn't let me. (Found out when we unpacked he was stealing money and jewelry from us that was already packed to be moved!) When they were finished they agreed the earliest they would deliver our thing would be December 10, 2018. We received a call from a driver telling us our things were in route and would be delivered December 9th. I told them if they delivered before the 10th they would be breaking their contract.
The driver said they would contact Atlas, they had contracted with them to deliver. Apparently Atlas allowed them stop over time, because they didn't deliver until the 10th. We rented a U-Haul truck and had our things offloaded into it, since we didn't have a storage unit at the time. Not everything would fit and so as soon as we could we rented a storage space for the remainder of the items. All in all this move cost us over $14,000! Because they misrepresented what they would do and the cost of the move. Antique furniture and tools were broken, many items crushed. I would not recommend using Atlas Moving Systems, they are not what Atlas Van Lines was!

Report of Complaint toward US Atlas Movers for move dated 11/15/18 from Danville, IL to Largo, Florida. US Atlas Movers, aka Atlas Van Lines, Atlas Moving Companies, Atlas World group. Contact number: 1-833-662-8527. Our initial estimate was given by Donovan per email dated 10/24/18 in the amount of $2418.95. Based on the size of my home (2 bedroom) They estimated squared footage and stated that amount covered the move. We agreed to this estimate and signed an electronic document via email agreeing to allow Atlas Movers to move our belongs from Danville, IL to Largo, Florida on 11/15/16. We paid a deposit by credit card over the phone of $750.00 at that time to guarantee the move.
On 11/12/18, Justin contacted us, via email, four days prior to our move across country (when we were beyond the point of booking another company or even finding an available U-Haul). He stated he needed to go over our inventory list. We contacted him by telephone and went over our inventory list. At that time, he increased our total to $5700.00, stating that I would need to pay another deposit by credit card over the phone because the initial deposit was not large enough to cover this new balance.
The movers were scheduled to arrive on 11/16/18 @ 9am. However, they did not arrive until six and a half hours later. Pushing us late into the evening, leaving some of our belongings behind in the dark outside. After 90% of our belongings were loaded onto the box truck, one of the movers informed us they “were getting full.” We questioned what that meant. Were they running out of room? We informed him we had gone over the inventory list with the company? He stated that no, they had plenty of room, he just needed to call his boss. He came back a couple minutes later and informed us that we had apparently “gone over” and our rate would once again increase and would now be $8956.30! (So essentially $9000.00.)
Donovan, in his initial call, had told us the delivery of our belongings would be immediate to Florida. When we spoke to Justin, when the rate was increased, he instructed us to write “ASAP” and DATE “11/16/18” (the next day) on each inventory sheet, which we did. The driver, who picked up our belongings, told us they would be taking our things that they were loading on to a smaller box truck three hours north to be loaded on to a semi in Chicago, before then heading south to the final destination in Florida. Three separate people ensured us that our belongings were being delivered immediately, which was a lie. Our belongings were taken to a warehouse in Chicago and stored for nearly a month!
On Monday, 11/19/18, I spoke to Karen in Customer Service to inquire on the status of our belongings. She informed me that I owed money and the company would not deliver until I paid another sum of over $2259.32. I was very confused. I had paid a deposit twice, yet she stated my balance was too high and they insisted I send more money before moving my things from Chicago. This was not at all what we were told. I informed her I felt my belongings were being held hostage and that we were misled. I agreed then to pay via credit card, however she notified me she could not take my credit over the phone. Again, I was confused. I stated her company already had done so twice. She stated that was another department. There was a form with three different dollar amounts I was supposed to place in blank spaces, have notarized and send back via email for her to accept my credit card via telephone.
I had to go to the local UPS store now that I had moved and had no resources of my own to do even the simplest things such as checking email. I kept Karen on the phone as I completed the form and asked her what amounts to put in which blanks, as the form was very confusing. I signed off and had it notarized, scanned it and emailed back -$24.00 later, thinking at least my belongings might be sent- wrong! I received an email that the amounts were incorrect and I would have to redo the entire transaction. I drove back to the UPS store and called the company back and spoke to Michelle in customer service this time. I was assured if I simply completed and sent these forms I could make this payment and my belongings would be on their way. After a long arduous process, I completed sending the notarized documents and credit card payment. I went home and waited for my possessions to arrive.
We called almost daily asking for status of our move, and were transferred back and forth between Customer Service and Dispatch. We were talked to so poorly, hung up on and lied to over and over. Every day we would receive a different story. We would each call. I would get one story, he would get another - sometimes on the very same day. For instance, 11/27/18 I was told my belongings were “In Transit.” However later was told they were not in transit until 12/3/18. But on 12/4/18. The agent stated “no, they are out now, in transit.” I took that to mean she was actually not lying this time.
Each time we spoke with anyone from the company to inquire on the status they would simply state their right to keep our belongings for twenty-one business days - not counting weekends or holidays. Of course, that was not ever mentioned once until they took our money and our things. Had they been up-front with their inflated prices, long wait times, horrible customer service, and crooked practices, we would never have hired them to begin with! On 12/8/18, The driver did not call two days out as promised. He called at 2 pm and told us he would be at our house at 6 pm. When they arrived, and began unloading we immediately noticed there were no identifying markers between our belongings and other customer’s belongings. Packages, boxes and items are mixed together. Several times we were handed items and boxes that were not ours. We were honest and quickly handed them back and stated they did not belong to us.
My chest freezer was in great shape when it left my house in IL. The lid was now caved in because they had stacked objects on top of it all the way to the ceiling of the semi, and who knows what abuse it took coming off the smaller box truck going in and out of the warehouse in Chicago! I had two bookshelves in excellent shape, that had left my home in IL, and had been put on the small box truck as whole pieces. However, when delivered to me in FL, I was literally handed a stack of busted up wood - broken off screws, with tape wrapped around it! Our 6-month-old 49-inch 4K television - destroyed! Antique family heirlooms, smashed, mugs, large speakers, etc, busted, crushed!
We are still missing multiple items: A large patio push broom, a box of tools including Porter Cable drill bits, and a Milwaukee assorted driver set. I feel like I paid these people nearly $10.000.00 to hold my belongings hostage and then destroy them. They were never apologetic, not once! Their business practices are despicable! They need to be held accountable!

My agency was charged $8662 which is outrageous! This company knows how much is authorized and will meet the amount in any way they can. Much of my belongings had multiple tags on them, a mirror had ten tags! Half of my belongings was still packed prior from my move. Also, I disassembled most of the furniture myself and had it ready. Overall, the 3 men who packed up my stuff (bed, nightstand, sofa set, bookshelf, bins of clothings, kitchen items, glass items, and more) wrapped it so well that nothing was damaged. The agent who I dealt with was great and she always kept me informed about a projected time frame for delivery. And the man and his daughter who drove my stuff across the country and delivered it were so amazing and trustworthy. Despite what others have said, I feel like I lucked out with movers for my first time... just give your options a call, ask your questions, and you'll be fine.

Paid for by employer so I thought this was a reputable company. Moved cross country and pick up went smoothly. Movers were nice and efficient. Our stuff was put into storage before I took delivery (that is probably where everything went wrong). When they delivered, my vehicle was damaged, boxes were missing, furniture pieces and hardware went missing. I guess they needed to disassemble everything before storage and they didn't do it with care (hence damage to vehicle) and didn't keep track inventory for disassembled furniture pieces and hardware. During delivery they gave me a check-off sheet to cross out item numbers as they brought it in. After first round had lots of missing item numbers.
The lead mover asked that I read off missing numbers so he can go around and see if he can find them. Told me he found all of the missing items. Noticed after they left that items that he apparently found were in fact actually missing. A few friends that have moved with Atlas. I am looking to move with them and they recommend a certain driver. Larry with Slater. I went over to see my friend before she moved and the drivers guys were drinking on the job. I am sure the driver was unaware of this. Everyone I know who has moved with Larry says that his crew on the pick up side was horrible but delivery end was 5 star so for anyone in the area I would say to make sure Gabriel and Joe are not on the crew. 3rd guy was drinking but never caught a name. 4th guy Pete. 5 star and polite.

If I could give zero stars I would. I can honestly say this has been the worst experience I've had with any move (x country or local). This was our 2nd x country move so I had the benefit of knowing what a good experience is all about when we used Graebel back in 2010. Unfortunately Graebel was no longer around. I did lots of research and read a number of reviews and felt I was making a good decision to go with Atlas/Daniels for this x country move from NC to CA. Boy, was I wrong on this one. I consider myself a very fair and patient person, but when you pay $$$ for a x country move you would expect professional services and customer support on both ends of the move. I expected some bumps along the way but I could have never imagined it being this unprofessional from the services provided and customer support/experience on both ends of the move.
The packing services were absolutely awful. The packing services were so bad that even the driver made me take pictures of what he called ghost packing. To top it off, I showed up to the house after the truck left for CA and found the office had not been touched... not packed or loaded onto the truck so I had to take care of that myself???
Now here we are one year after the move and I still don't have any of the lost items replaced after filing a claim (in March 2018) per the Atlas/Daniels claim process? I keep getting told "It's in process?" In good faith and a commitment from the GM that they would credit me back on the overage charges. Stupid me, I paid for the overage charges per his request so they would release my items in CA and we could get the family settled. I have sent more than (50+) emails and numerous phone calls to Daniels asking for closure on the lost items and overage charges. Here we are one year later with no credit or replacement items. I cannot stress enough if you read this post to NOT put yourself through the pain, suffering and complete waste of time and $.

We used a local agent of Atlas (Certified Van Services) to move from CT to Florida. It was the worst experience. They broke up our stuff into two shipments because they miscalculated and said it "didn't fit". Our first shipment came 14 days after pick up. The second shipment did not come until 40 days after pick up. Communication was poor and once they got our money, no one seemed to care. I tried calling Atlas as well as the local agent. I was told that as long as we had a bed and could cook, we had "the necessities". There were several items that were damaged and still missing upon delivery. I would never use Atlas again or the local agent.

Where to start.... I bought into the sales pitch from Justin ** after a price was negotiated, to which I felt good about my decision to use them. As the weeks progressed to the truck arriving prices and inventory started to change all over the place and now the price began to increase from the original negotiated price. Being I was getting movers I figured I would just cut my loses and run with it since I got a pretty good deal.
Weeks later the trucking company called and began demanding significantly more money upon picking up my belongings to which I reached out to Atlas as it was not part of the contract we agreed on. I called Justin multiple times and was told that he would call back as the truck would be arriving the next day and I wanted to make sure there was no changes I was unaware of. After hours and hours of calling Justin I never called back. After researching whom they sold my contract to I found the company had horrific reviews all of which dealt with broken items, stolen items and extremely long delivery dates. Instead of Justin, I eventually spoke to Mark who tried to console my issues. After I explained the issue he reached back out to me with a new van line and delivery time. At this point I felt a little better.
The truck showed up 5 hours late and kept texting me back and forth about rescheduling to another day when I had to drive across the country the next morning. Secondly they showed up in a rental truck so god only knows where my belongings were going but I sadly had no options at this point. The movers were pretty good but slowed down later on as they were smoking blunts and getting high in the parking lot (I'm cool with weed and all but at this point it was midnight - 1am and they were moving my belongings). The truck left and all went fairly smoothly.
I was told that the company would call me the next day to run a card for the pick up billing, 50% as discussed with Atlas and the remainder upon delivery. Lo and behold Mark at Atlas was full of ** and he just used a rental truck and the same company he had told me he was going to replace for me. The call came in and they demanded 75% which was not what was agreed upon but now they have my belongings so what am I to do.
It is now 26 days from pick up and my belonging are still in Washington state with no delivery date while I'm in Philadelphia just waiting and living out of a suitcase with my wife and 1.5 year old child. I have written an email to this company and not once have they reached out. Against my better judgement I should have never worked with these con artists but I was trying to save a buck or two and am now paying for it. Do your self a favor if you are thinking about this company. Avoid at all cost, don't cheap out and use a reputable company. These BS artists just sell you to trash companies.

Dealt with Alicia over the phone for our move from South Carolina to New York. I'm a native New Yorker, so I know moving in this city can be a bit rough and I expected the price to be around $3000-$4000. Alicia quoted me $1200 over the phone for 300 cubic feet after I described her my inventory. 1 King Size storage bed, 2 slats for the bed, 1 king size mattress, 1 7' tall bookcase, 2 end tables, 2 ottomans with a storage box for them, 1 desk, 20 boxes of stuff.
The movers showed up at our apartment about an hour early and we were still packing. They were friendly enough, but appeared exhausted. The foreman Stephon was alright. They started loading as we were still packing. Once he saw our bed (Ikea Brimnes storage bed), he told us that they do NOT insure particle-board furniture, which is basically their way of saying they won't insure Ikea furniture. This would've been great to know over the phone before we put the deposit down and booked it. All our furniture is Ikea (we like it a lot and it's sturdy).
After loading everything up, Stephon informs me that we were both misquoted and the stair fee was incorrect. Alicia told us the stair fee would be $75. We told her it was a third-floor walkup and she quoted us $75. Stephon told us it was 4 flights and they calculate flights at 8 steps per flight. He calculated the fee wrong himself, it should've been $75x2, not $100x2 as he put it. He also said we took up 1000 cubic feet in their truck, more than TRIPLE what we were quoted as having. This drove the fee up over $3500, PLUS the $200 cash stair fee. He wrote me a receipt, I signed it and he signed it, and then they left. I found screws to my furniture while loading up my car later that day.
When they arrived in New York with our stuff, it wasn't good. My bookcase is absolutely destroyed. Our bed is scratched and chipped all over, not to mention dirty. They only put covers over two of our storage drawers. They did not use a mattress protector (they wouldn't use the one we had because it "didn't zip up" (we were never told this over the phone)), so now our mattress is quite dirty and will need to be cleaned. Our big blue bins that we packed stuff in are shredded. Boxes were crushed and my coffee maker was shattered.
They took ZERO care with anything. Luckily we did get everything, but not in the condition we gave it to them. One of our bins that we sent to them covered was now covered with tape (the cover was off, they made a new cover out of tape). One of the guys brought the cover in, broken, with a bunch of random stuff that fell out in the truck. I'm talking Christmas ornaments, decorations, coat hangers, and a wire for my standing desk. A steel bracket was broken off my desk and when I asked where it was, the guy said "Oh I just saw that in the truck, I didn't know what it went to, hang on." They clearly just throw stuff in a truck and call it a day.
When attempting to talk with Alicia over the phone about the surprise rate increase and stair fee, she was EXTREMELY rude. When I told her I needed to speak with her about things that happened during pickup, her attitude immediately changed. She knew exactly what was coming and immediately started talking over me and not letting me speak. She would not listen to anything I said. Her response to everything was "the foreman explained everything to you upon pickup and you signed the paperwork stating you understood, that's all there is to say about anything".
This is very clearly a common practice with them. Underquote and then overcharge when the person moving is backed into a corner. I couldn't even get the $50 corrected on the stairs charge. She asked me how many stairs there were in my old apartment and when I struggled to come up with the number (who counts stairs?), she said "clearly you don't know so there's no argument to be made here for a stair fee, what else do you want to talk about?" This company is awful and we will be reporting them to the BBB. Stay far, far away.

We used them as a relocation moving company for an employee hired at our organization. This is the worst company I have ever worked with!!! They contradicted themselves (one person would tell out employee one thing, that would turn out to be wrong and this happened over and over again), gave false information and the saga went on for two months. They picked up our employee's furniture on June 18 and it was not delivered until July 16. They never disclosed there was a possibility that they would deliver outside the guarantee window. When we realized this they were unapologetic and unaccommodating. When the shipment finally arrived, a chair was missing, and multiple items were damaged. Additionally, there was sustainable damage to the home from the movers being careless. I still have not received the final invoice. But a word of warning do not use them, you will save yourself a lot of headaches and angst.

I didn’t have the choice on choosing this company for my move, the decision was made for me through my job. First of all, the guy in charge was complaining to me about having trouble finding a place to accept the shipment on a Sunday so he could get back in time for Thanksgiving. I felt for him, wanting to be with his family for the holiday. But complaining to me about it put me in an uncomfortable position, especially since they were picking up my things a week and a half before the holidays. That was very unprofessional. There was nothing I could do since they had already packed my things.
But the icing on the cake is that they STOLE MONEY FROM ME! I had cash in one of my drawers and forgot to take it out before I packed my things. I realized it after they were gone. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and believed they had the integrity to leave the money alone. Unfortunately I was wrong. Only use this company if you don’t mind having things broken or stolen.

I contracted with Atlas through EDC movers for a move to take place in January after I closed on my house. When the moving crew arrived, we found one of the men was afraid of dogs. I have a dachshund and a chihuahua and as I was rounding them up, that man kicked both of them and continued to kick at them so that I could hardly get near them to pick them up. It was a scary situation for me and for them as the puppies continued to bark at the large man threatening them. At that time, someone from the moving company's office called and I complained to her, saying I would not allow that abuse. She offered to talk to the driver and crew, but after she did, the driver said that I was being hostile to them(!) and they refused to continue the job. They got in the van and left!
I immediately called the company back to see how they were going to resolve the situation only to hear that Atlas supported the men walking off the job, they would not provide another crew, and left me without options for another mover. It took weeks to book this move and I never got one word expressing they cared in way about what happened to my pups or that they sabotaged my move. Inexcusable and indefensible that a large man can kick small dogs and get away with it; unconscionable that the company he works for condones his behavior and unreasonably refuses to even discuss terminating a customer's contract without notice or recourse.

The mover packed what he could, most of our household items, but garage items were left for a second pick up. We were told this would arrive about 10 days after our first load. It ended up taking one month for the second load to make it to our new home. The 2nd load had all of our camping gear, bikes, summer fun gear, which we were in need of in order to take our summer vacation. As a result of the inconvenience and having to go out and purchase new items, Atlas offered us a whopping $100. Once items arrived, they were broken (both first and second drop) plus my husband's entire tool kit was missing.
We filed a claim for the missing tool kit and were DENIED any compensation. We are still waiting to receive a joke of compensation for the antique stereo speakers they dropped (not sure how $140 will replace this vintage set...). I hired the company to move my personal belongings on July 17, 2017 from Georgia to Arkansas. 25 pieces of furniture/items sustained damage (broken floor lamps, dropped a brand new chaise lounge on the concrete, torn the fabric on a sofa, dented a refrigerator, scratched table tops, 9 wooden legs with screws to screw into the sofa and 2 chairs were dumped into a box without wrapping individually and subsequently all were scratched during the move, and brand new kitchen floor was scratched when taking refrigerator off of the dolly). I submitted a damage claim for the property and personal items on August 18 and the customer service to resolve or communicate the status of the claim process has been extremely poor.
I was contacted by Southwest Resources to assess the damaged furniture. I needed to change the appointment due to a work meeting conflict and reached out to Stephanie ** to assist me with this because when I called the phone number listed on my phone, the call did not go to a voicemail. Her only response to me was, "That's the same number that I have." Needless to say, Southwest Resources called me on the morning that they were coming, and I had to explain to them that I attempted to change the appointment due to the conflict but was not able to get a hold of anyone. They said they would reschedule. The initial appointment was 8/29 and I had to send Stephanie and email on 9/5 to ask her when the appointment would be rescheduled.
She sent me back an email - "Did you contact the repair firm"? Her response was not appreciated as Philpot and continue to feel as though they could care less that they damaged my personal belongings. The appointment was rescheduled for September 12. When the Southwest Resources technicians came to the home, they did not have the furniture legs nor the floor damages on the list of items to inspect. I sent Stephanie an email about the floor and was told they had not received the claim. I have the email with the claim submittal. I contacted Philpot the week of September 18 and spoke with Mark - Claims General Manager and expressed my frustration about the handling of the claim and significant damage to the personal property. He told me that the claim resolution would be expedited and said Stephanie would be calling me. To this day she has never called me.
Southwest Resources came yesterday 10/18/17 to start repairs on furniture and look at that damaged flooring. I asked them about the tear in the sofa fabric and furniture legs. They told me they were not authorized to repair. To this day, I have never been told what is being repaired or replaced by anyone at Philpot. These are my belongings and they were damaged, yet there has been no communication from the company when I attempt to get answers. I called Philpot on 10/18/17 - spoke with a lady by the name of Mahogany and she told me she would contact Mark and asked that I give her until the end of the day yesterday to get me a response. I had asked that Mark call me back. As of 10/21/17, they have never called me back.
I would like to know what is being fixed and status of the other items. These are my personal items that I entrusted with Philpot. This has been the worst moving experience ever and the claims process has been handled very poorly. They got their money for moving my undamaged belongings and now all I would like is for my belongings to be fixed to what they were before the move. The driver prior to leaving the home in GA marked that everything was damaged, scratched, dented, torn, or gouged and did not disclose that with me prior to me signing on his tablet. He even marked that a piece of patio furniture that was in an unopened box was dented, scratched, and gouged.

I have made multiple, interstate moves. I have even used Atlas in the past, which was why I reached out to them for this move. Given my previous experiences, I have a good benchmark for what is a good or bad move experience. From beginning to end, this experience was the worst move I have ever experienced and the net result was completely unacceptable.
From the beginning, the communication was with my coordinator was slow - I had to reach out multiple times with emails and phone calls to drive the process. When it was time for me to sign the good faith estimate, the coordinator called me and told me that they used the wrong rates and they were increasing the charge by $770, +12%. Nothing in the scope changed, just the cost. If Atlas will not stand behind the estimate, this completely defeats the purpose of the good faith estimate. Unfortunately, by then it was too close to the move date for me to select another company, so I was stuck with Atlas.
When the packers arrived, they were completely unprepared for the move. They arrived without acceptable tools to disassemble my furniture. They used a pair of pliers instead of a socket set, which would have been the correct and standard tools, to removed the recessed bolts from my bed. As a result of using the wrong tools, they gouged the wood. They then used a wood marker to "repair" the damage without asking me if that was acceptable. They did not have enough blankets to wrap and pad my furniture. They plastic wrapped my mattresses in lieu of boxing them, which was called out in the contract. They were showing off by carrying large, heavy items down the stairs and to the truck by themselves (i.e., one person carried the item vs. them pairing up). They did not bring any food or drink with them.
The delivery of my goods was late. I had to call multiple times to check on the status. During the last call, I was told, "You did not receive your goods yet? We thought they were delivered 3 days ago." When my goods did arrive, my furniture was not padded or boxed. As a result, much of my wood furniture and mattresses were ruined/destroyed. They are large gouges, dents, crushed in padding, and stains. Also, they breached the contract by shoving my goods into containers as opposed to a full move in a tractor trailer as contracted and paid for.
The two men who unloaded my furniture told me, "I did not get what I paid for." and "The people who packed the crates should be fired." An example of how bad of a job they did packing, they stacked my sofa on top of my dishes then put golf clubs and a mountain bike on top of the sofa. When the unloading movers saw it, they were so stunned they switched to a different container, because they did not want to deal with the mess. With all the damage to my furniture, I had to file a claim. It has been 2.5 months, and I still have not received a resolution. When I email my coordinator, I receive no reply. When I call, I am sent to voicemail. Not only did Atlas do a terrible job, they are not fixing the issue.

First, the movers showed up in a beat-up, old, junky, unmarked semi tractor trailer, not a well-marked moving van. They refused to move several pieces of furniture. We actually had to bribe 2 of the workers with additional cash in hand to get these items moved. They knocked numerous of our containers off their ramp and just let them lie in the street. We purchased pizza for the workers. The next morning I discovered one of them had thrown pizza against my house, leaving a nasty stain.
The moving company forgot to schedule the third party pool table disassembling crew. This resulted in an extra day delay of getting their truck on the road. They then took all our items to a warehouse in St. Louis where they were left for a number of days. The driver who picked up our belongings from the St. Louis warehouse told me he had never seen things placed so negligently on the loading dock as ours were. The St. Louis crew could not give us a date when we could expect to receive our belongings in South Carolina. Speaking with a supervisor was useless.
When our stuff finally arrived in South Carolina, many, many items are severely damaged or completely missing. Day by day, we are still discovering damaged and missing items that we didn't originally know about. We were not provided with any paperwork. They forgot to include copies with the driver. A ceramic bird bath was shattered. A silk lamp shade was torn to shreds. An antique wrought iron settee is busted. Ceramic wall lights are broken. Large dresser completely scratched and gouged. Walls and ceilings had large chunks of plaster knocked out. Missing some jewelry pieces. Broke the legs off an armoire. Boots are missing. Mats are missing. Various kitchen items are missing or broken. A laundry rack is missing.

DON'T use Atlas. They recently moved me about 2,000 miles and damaged MANY items, several of which were family heirlooms. My parents and I have both moved these items many times without breaking them in a Uhaul. While they sent someone to fix most of the broken items, there were items that couldn't be fixed or replaced. There were a couple of items that just didn't show up, but they won't reimburse me fully for them. They gave me a "good faith" $75, but because they don't have "proof" of anything, they won't fully reimburse me. I heard a crash in my kitchen when they were packing, but I assumed everything was OK because they didn't say anything to me.
Meanwhile, when I start unpacking my kitchen, I notice there are items missing. They told me I would have seen evidence at my old home. BS. Those guys would have hidden that because they were liable for the damage themselves, and while they were nice, they definitely didn't want to pay for anything they broke. Their new iPad system they use to sign for things on both ends is a joke and makes it very difficult on the homeowner to understand what the movers are claiming because you have to click on hundreds of lines, not to mention they claim that everything is in bad shape - of course. DON'T USE ATLAS if you want all of your stuff to arrive in one piece. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Moved some personal belongings from Breckenridge Colorado to Houston Texas. Would normally drive and do this myself, but was busy and needed help. Chose Atlas Van Lines, they seemed to be very good at getting the pre-move information set up very quickly, said they have many drivers doing this route. Their prices were similar to everyone else. They had a full inventory of items, including a Cervello tri bike and a Kawasaki motorbike. They told me my items would be picked up then delivered by 4-5 days, they had instructions on collection of my items. That the items need to be in a smaller truck due to a narrow street on my end. This was where the deceptions started.
Get a call the day of pickup and they are telling me they have loaded the motorbike and needed another $1,500 wired to them because it was considered a "bulky" item. Explained that this was on the original inventory, and it is not a surprised item, this was always accounted for. So a week goes by, then 2, I call. They said they are waiting for someone to be driving that direction, there is such a small amount of items that they will put it on the next truck. Then 3, and week 4, I call, still waiting.
Week 6 my items are loaded. 5 days later the driver shows up at the end of my street and tells me he was another $800, because my street is too narrow, so he will need to rent a truck to deliver my stuff. By this point, decided this is a well funded racket, that so many people had forked out cash because their stuff was being held hostage and they wanted it. Told the driver I owned a trailer and I would meet him and we can transfer my stuff, he suddenly shows up with my stuff.
Unpacking I noticed every single box had been opened then the items crushed down and the box squashed down to make it less bulky, inquired as to how it seemed that my amount of gear had reduced in size. One box was completely missing, which assume, since they thieved so much they just didn't have enough to pack into it. I had sealed all the boxes and signed the tape. Upon unpacking the boxes, discovered that they had taken all the small items with big dollar value.
So what did they take? Ski boots with custom heat warmers, a brand new ski jacket, motorbike riding boots - knee high, never worn. Apres ski boots, hiking boots, motorbike riding helmet, 2 Bike riding helmets, Kevlar motorbike riding pants, never worn. Hiking boots, Ski goggles, Biking goggles, Biking gloves, Various other "label" clothing items. The items they took, several were brand new, and the others had barely seen 10 wears, so they looked brand new.
Considering I didn't sign a lading contract (I was in Houston, they were in Breckenridge), they wiggled out of the insurance. They gave me the lowest amount they could come up with. After stealing thousands of dollars of stuff, they offered me $71. And they are able to do this, because they put their insurance through another third party company that just "assesses the claim". When your stuff is taken into their custody, your stuff is worth zero, because that is how much they care. Here is my answer to them. Visiting every single website and writing about their deceptive practices, in hopes that enough people will read about the scam, and pass the word around. Atlas Van Lines... beware.

The claim was denied because 'all missing items must be noted at the time of delivery'. They are taking no responsibility for this missing fridge because we didn't note it at the time of delivery. I'm not sure where this is written, I'm not provided with any type of documentation to support this.
I also find it unreasonable that we're expected to unpack ALL of our items to note missing ones at the time of delivery - how is this possible? A mini fridge isn't a huge financial burden, however I fear that this type of policy could really leave homeowners at a loss for substantial items - i.e. smaller items such as jewelry that could be missed at the time of delivery.
We also found the movers very unprofessional. One mover showed up 3 hours later so they couldn't begin moving in our furniture. The mover that came on time noted that 'we're used to this because they get a little money and they go spend it on drugs and don't show up to work'. The second mover that showed up late then proceeded to hit on my sister and said 'I could show you around Greenville' 'Don't tell anyone, I could get fired'. This company has a major contract with my employer and I'd like to see to it that we reconsider this relationship.

Broken contract. Much damage to furniture. I contacted Atlas Van Lines to move my furniture from WI to KS. They initially claimed that a short move would only take about 2 days after the pickup. They picked it up on the 5th of Aug. The contract said that the arrival should be anywhere from the 8th to the 15th. We heard nothing from them so I called on the 8th and they didn't have any information for us. I called on the 9th and again on the 10th. At that point we found out our furniture was only 15 minutes from our new residence in KS.
They then said it would not be delivered until the 16th (a day over their contract date). If we were to go to pick it up ourselves, they would have to charge us an additional $500 because they would have to hire men to unload the truck. They however could not have men who could unload it here. To get any updates we had to call as they wouldn't bother to call us. A contract doesn't mean anything to them after we signed. We were forced to buy chairs to sit on and kitchen utensils to cook and eat as we had a home with nothing in it. When the furniture arrived there was considerable damage. I would never call Atlas Van Lines again!

To be brief: This company promises everything and delivers nothing... pun intended. The window of delivery of 10 days from pick-up was exceeded by 4 more days. NO COMMUNICATION from Assured Relocation Services in DeBary, Florida and NO COMMUNICATION from Atlas or their dispatch. An antique mahogany roll top desk was damaged in three areas: the main desktop was broken in two, the plate glass covering the desktop was shattered and a drawer was crushed. A Tiffany type lamp base was broken and the lamp base now needs repair.
This was not an antique, but was part of a pair of matching lamps used in a bedroom. I was offered $84 as a settlement for over $500 worth of damage. Yup... cut and dry... payment only offered on weight. Robotic formula workers would not consider the age or replacement costs of an antique desk. Four days late. Damage without fair value settlement. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. BEWARE.

My neighbor used Assured Relocation Services to hire Atlas Van Lines (truck #**) to move into an apartment at Sands Parc Apartments in Daytona Beach, FL. The driver completely blocked my car and driveway with the huge truck. The truck was parked one foot from my car. I told the driver he had to move and he and the other men started yelling at me that I did not say it "nice enough". I told them to move 10 feet and all would be fine but they refused to move the van and the really old crew guy started cursing at me and cursing my children's existence.
I immediately went to get the property manager who told them that they could not block someone's driveway. The driver told her that they would have moved the van if I had asked "nicely". They were rude to the property manager and said that they would move the van to let me out but would put the van right back in my driveway. The one old man even yelled at the property manager that if the elevator had been working they would have parked elsewhere. I had to block my driveway sideways to prevent them from backing back in to my driveway. My husband came down to photograph all the truck numbers and other information to report the crew and he got yelled at. These 2 companies are a disgrace to the moving industry. Never use either of the 2 companies Atlas Van Lines or Assured Relocation Services of Orlando.
When I called to report this incident, I was told that it is difficult not to block driveways and there was no apology for the disgusting crew. I was also told that when I moved in, my truck probably blocked someone. What kind of an excuse is that from a supervisor? Thank goodness I used PODS and did not have to deal with such low-class, crude, rude, disgusting, moving men.

When we checked on the status we were to could be 19 or more, then later we were informed that after they loaded the truck at our house which truck was empty they took it back to warehouse and unloaded part of it.
They called yesterday and told us part would arrive today but we need to pay in full which is not right. Driver calls today and said his help has car problems, don't know if he can make it. We have been very patient with this company and not getting any satisfaction whatsoever. When we inquired about rest of our things we were told maybe sometime next week. I can't even do much of anything here without my things, had to buy mattress to get sleep after staying in hotels. We wouldn't have left Ohio so soon if we were given a better time frame but even so they only seem to care about the money. Very very dissatisfied.

This is one of the most unethical companies I have seen. I have relocated with them prior on a company paid move, but this was not and they did a good job selling us on the low cost, until they had our goods. Once they drove away, they claimed a weight error and they were off by "7000" pounds. Then they claimed they could not honor any quotes and are billing us an additional 3000.00 dollars. The bad part is, I had a quote with the correct weight from Bekins that was only 700.00 more than the Atlas quote, but I believed I was dealing with an ethical company from my past dealings, but I was wrong. I highly recommend to anyone considering a move to avoid Atlas relocation. I have called their management and asked for call backs, but to date have not received any.
Their driver also cost us an additional 250.00 when he failed to clean up after himself and left trash/tools on our front porch for the new owners to walk around on their final walk thru the next morning. I wish I went with Bekins, at least their quote was accurate. Atlas feels like they do the mover equivalent of bait with a low quote and switch, once they have your goods. I hope all the social media posts will get the word out and cost them much more than the 3000.00 they intend to extort from me in this move.

These are the highlights of my experience thus far. Called "darling" numerous times by estimator. (Offensive) Was assured 3 times that "drunk or hungover Mexicans from Home Depot" would not be moving my household goods. (This was highly offensive to me.) Was given an estimate that has almost doubled on the day of pick up. Was charged $350 in additional charges, but the packing team would "help me out" by offering to waive it for $150 in cash. However, this isn't noted in costs paid. Extra charges added to pack large pieces of furniture that the estimator was aware of.
I was charged extra for two flights of stairs... again this info passed to estimator. Now I'm stuck with nothing on the day of delivery... and my stuff hasn't even been loaded on a truck yet. Every time I have called (4) to try and speak to a manager, I get put on hold in excess of 15 minutes, or given a number to call (which I call and leave a message... no returned call). And this morning I was told it takes 24-48 to register a complaint and get a return call. I was in a situation that I could not send them away as I had to be out of my apartment and had no other option. I would have happily taken the $585 loss if I'd have had ANY other option. My initial estimate was $2900, followup estimate $3100. On the day of pickup: $5831.

We had a rep for Atlas come out and give us an estimate on our move from Winnipeg MB Canada to Tucson AZ. He gave us a line about how long he had been doing his job, how good of an estimator he was, and that he was rarely off on his estimates. We toured our house and looked at all the things that we were moving. We pointed out things and showed him what we were planning to take with us. His estimate was so good that we went with it. When the moving day came, the movers arrived and started loading up our belongings. Halfway through, they told us that we were more than double our estimated weight. We are not sure how we would've had more than double of what we originally showed him.
Also we were supposed to have crating of our valuable antiques done, which was included in our estimate. No one showed up to crate our antiques. When we called and complained, our representative said, "oh don't worry they'll be fine". We are talking about two hundred year old pieces that belonged to my grandparents. The moving truck driver refused to move the antiques unless they were crated. Finally someone was sent out who strapped pieces of wood around them and put them in the truck. A service we paid $700 for!! Our complaints to Atlas fell on deaf ears. Our move was estimated at $7000 and costed us $11,000.
In our opinion this is a scam... they send someone out and give you an estimate that is way below what you should be paying. What were you to do on moving day? They had all of our belongings loaded onto a truck and were now telling us it was gonna cost us double. They have you between a rock and a hard place! Atlas Vans lines is running a SCAM!!! These dates did not work and we gave the salesman (Eric) the absolute last date she could receive her furniture. He then said they could make that date but it would cost an extra 750.00 which we agreed to. They called us the week of the furniture delivery to say it would be there on the very last day we put on the agreement so we started driving to Madison to meet them. We got a call on the road that the furniture would not be delivered until a day late with no explanation. When I said that I would not pay the extra 750.00 they charged me since they didn't hold up their end of the contract they said that I had to pay the full amount to get my furniture and then take it up with the complaint department.
They emailed me a few days later before I even had a chance to write a request for refund and said they would give me back 200.00 since they were only a day late. I told them this was not acceptable and only an idiot would agree to pay 750.00 for a guaranteed delivery deadline and agree that they could only pay back a few hundred for each day late. Moved from Colorado Springs to Kansas City. This was my 7th long distance move, and by far the very worst experience of my life! Didn’t get a confirmation call the day before about what time movers would arrive next day. I had to make several calls that evening and all I could get was they are working on the schedule; it will be between 8-12. Around 10:30am on moving day, someone pounded on my garage door. It was the movers. They did not have my correct phone number. They also showed up in a small truck – not a moving van as was promised – and the van had a broken lift and was not large enough to hold all my belongings.
Movers spent from 10:30am to 5:30pm loading; some of my things were loaded into a private car; the van doors wouldn’t close because the van was packed too full; they put a mattress at the back and a strap across it to hold everything. And I was told my things would be unloaded and stored at their warehouse until a van was ready to come my way. That was not what I was promised when I signed the paperwork more than a month earlier – it would have been a deal breaker. I was told the actual van would pick up my things and that I would be given a definite date of delivery on moving day. I called the sales rep that “sold” the move to me to discuss these issues – and she would never return my calls!
My things were picked up on a Wednesday; it was the following week on Thursday that the van driver called me to say he would deliver the following day. Numerous calls to the Atlas office during the next 8 days got me nowhere; I was transferred and no one answered; they said they were waiting for the driver to call them — all kinds of excuses. Lots of promises to call me back – which never happened. During this time, I also learned that the phone number they had on my paperwork for the driver was the incorrect phone number – it took 4 requests to get it corrected! One excuse given was that there are 2 systems and they don’t talk to each other. Well, DUH, if you know that, change it in both systems!
The local movers that showed up to assist were given a partially incorrect address, and, of course, wrong phone number. The van driver had a wrong ZIP code so was having trouble finding my house; I tried to get this changed during the 8 days I was calling in to the office, but the coordinator told me their system wouldn’t accept the correct ZIP code. I live in an area of older homes that have been here for 30-35 years??
The van driver was never told by Colorado Springs Atlas how I would pay or how much to collect from me. Numerous calls by the van driver to Atlas that day and he could not reach the coordinator assigned to my account. So, he had to assume the check I gave him was correct. So when I checked with the third party company to hook up my washer and dryer, of course, they had no information from Atlas about it. WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO USE ATLAS?

We had a few items that arrived damaged but nothing significant that would cost over $100. HOWEVER, our refrigerator arrived with multiple dents and it began leaking as soon as we plugged it in. We shut off the water/ice maker and contacted the company. They sent out an adjuster who agreed with our claim.
The process took over 3 weeks while I informed Atlas that our fridge was leaking onto our floors, ice sheets were forming in the bottom of our freezer and the temperature in the fridge area was erratic. We had no plans on replacing this item as it was working perfectly well in Texas and had our cabinets custom made to the dimensions in Florida. After 3 weeks I finally gave up and accepted their monetary offer which did not cover the cost of a new one.

We recently used Atlas Van Lines on a long distance move from the Chicago area to Santa Fe, NM. The cost of the move was over $19000. The local Atlas moving company was Deerfield Movers in Wheeling, IL. It was a disaster. The amount of damage that was done by your Atlas crew in our move from the Chicago area to Santa Fe, NM was beyond belief. Everything from a baby grand piano scratched in several place and then assembled incorrectly, the bed in our master bedroom assembled incorrectly (and we had to have both assembled properly) and so much damage to beautiful grandfather clock that was completely destroyed and much more. Boxes and furniture were not put in the correct room and instead were just put in the garage and left there.
Perhaps one thing that really is upsetting, and is possibly illegal, was what the driver did to my wife's car that was put on the van. The driver arrived in Santa Fe on a Friday with his 60 foot van filled with our furniture and her car. He called us that Friday and told us that he doesn't work on the weekends and would deliver everything to the Santa Fe house on Monday. Before we left Chicago, we had my wife's car filled completely with gas and had it cleaned and detailed and thus in perfect condition when it left. The first thing off the van that Monday morning was her car. It was completely dirty, had a scratch on the front bumper and it had almost no gas left. Obviously, the van driver drove her car in the Santa Fe area over that weekend hundreds of miles without our permission and then denied it of course.
Moving the furniture into the house was done in a unbelievably careless fashion. Many walls had scratches and even pieces of wallboard were on the floor. That damaged the house and whatever furniture that they carried in and hit the wall. That had to be repaired and painted. There was so much more, and I've detailed almost everything below. We keep finding more damage and things that were lost though. Thus far your company has refused to accept any of the blame which absolutely no doubt were they responsible for, and we can't end this claim (which we want to do) until they do and compensate us for most of what they did. It's a funny thing about the truth. You can't change it.
Note: The mover, of course, has not acknowledged to us that they are responsible for anything on this claim. However, we did receive a letter from American Express 2 weeks ago that they did acknowledge responsibility for portions of it to Amex, yet they are not willing to credit us for any amount of money. Can we finally get this resolved? Thank you.

I then stepped in and went to them and asked them to move the truck. He told me that he would move it once they were finished with what they were doing. I yelled at him that he would not wait until then and that he would move it now, not later. He told me that I didn't need to yell at him, and I explained that I did need to since he basically dismissed my request. He moved the truck, quite forcefully, leaving tire marks.
I returned to the unit to speak with the resident and as I stepped off the elevator, the same driver was coming toward the elevator with his cart. We used Atlas for an interstate move in the summer of 2015. The drivers and their crews were generally pleasant, friendly, and reasonably competent. We didn't really have a problem with them. When our belongings arrived, a few things were broken, but nothing major, and some breakage is to be expected with a big move. The major problem was with the company itself, which seems to be wholly uncoordinated. We were flexible on our load date, but had a strong preference on delivery date. We were hoping that our flexibility on one end might allow them to give us a narrow window on the delivery. It did not. We were forced to choose an arbitrary load date with a three week window following it for delivery. We were assured, however, that we would be given an estimated delivery date when our things were loaded onto the van. That did not happen.
The driver suggested I call the warehouse after our goods were brought there. I tried that and had an incredibly awkward conversation with a man who seemed like he had never used a telephone before. They were unable to give us any more information, and eventually we simply moved with what we had. About a week after they claimed I would hear back, I received an email with an estimated delivery date. This date turned out to be wrong, and a few days later, they pushed it back. The driver eventually called me, pushing it back even further. Eventually, after more than a week in our new location without our things, they finally arrived.
I chose Atlas in part because they gave me a lower estimate than other companies. I suppose this should have been a red flag. The actual cost ended up being about a third higher than the estimate, and in line with what the other companies were quoting. There was also an additional fee because they couldn't fit the 18-wheeler onto our street, and had to use a shuttle truck. They established this fact using Google Earth, well after they had taken our things. I have no idea why they couldn't have done this when giving me the quote, as the $600 charge would have been nice to know about in advance. The last time we had a large, interstate move, we used Mayflower. We were satisfied with their service and should have used them this time. We went with Atlas because the quote was significantly lower. That was a mistake. If you're moving, I highly recommend staying away from Atlas, and choosing one of the other moving companies instead.

They said they would reimburse us lodging, food and any supplies we might need.
We called the following week 7/28/2015 and were told the same thing, No Driver for the truck. They would work on it. We called again on 7/31/2015, still no driver, they were working on it. We called again on Sat., 8/1/2015 and were told that our goods would be there on Mon. 8/03/2015. Finally, four weeks after they were originally picked up, our furniture arrived. It was all unloaded and brought into the house. A lot of our furniture was badly scratched in numerous places. The backs of our dressers and desks were ripped off, lamp shades were crushed. Some of the boxes were re-taped for some reason. Our barbecue grill had been used. It was clean when put on the truck. There are just too many things that were damaged.
As it turns out, Atlas will only pay a portion of our meals and any supplies we had to purchase (50%) while waiting the four weeks for our furniture. As far as the damaged goods, by the time we had to pay our deductible, it was not worth it. We would never recommend this company. Very poor customer service. Our goods were damaged while in their possession and they won't own up to it or the fact that we had to"rough" it for four weeks. This was not an easy task as my husband and I are over the mid-sixty age group.

The driver (Sylvain) was okay. I don't blame the driver at all. We moved from Thunder Bay, Ontario to Sherbrooke, Quebec early June. First of all a wall was scratched in Thunder Bay, next there are 2 glass shelves missing and also a broken brass lamp. We filled out a claims form and the lady of the claims dept. in Toronto (Gisele) told me that I signed for .60 a pound should something happen. I told her I signed a contract for moving my stuff; not for broken and missing items. I should of held on to some of the money till I got my shelves, because they don't care after you pay. They told us that the shelves were a negative and enjoy your new home. I will never use or recommend Atlas Van Lines ever again.

The over the phone scheduling for my initial visit went smoothly. The visit to my residence by an Atlas representative to do an inventory walk-through quote was top notch and professional in all regards. The loading of my possessions onto the moving truck was quality and acceptable. The communication the minute the movers left was lacking from the "home base". The contact I was given to communicate with was largely unresponsive via phone and email during my moving window. Prior to my delivery date I received a call and subsequent email with my "FINAL STATEMENT". This was on July 20th 2015 and was paid in full. My possessions were delivered on the following day.
10 days later, on July 30th 2015 I received an email message stating I had a remaining balance of 385.12 based on a small shipment charge when under 4000 pounds. This was never communicated to me and I never received any sort of call after my pickup regarding my final weight to confirm my final bill. Regardless you cannot give a customer/client a "final statement" then come back 10 days later and ask for money. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable.

The lead driver for Atlas moving arrived at my mother's home and was unwilling to inventory all the numbered stickers. The inventory is then rechecked at time of unloading to confirm that all items are accounted for. At the location of delivery (a storage unit with owners in attendance), the lead driver required two thousand dollars above the contract agreed upon. He would not unload the truck with my mother's belongings until he secured a two thousand dollar check.
The owners of the the storage unit encouraged us to call the police. This is a common practice of withholding a person's property until additional money is procured. When we removed the items from storage, multiple wooden pieces of furniture was severely scratched and items broken. One section of a two piece hall tree was missing for approx. 3 months. After claims were denied and follow up communication with the contracted mover, the missing upper part of the hall tree was 'somehow' located in their storage facility. I would STRONGLY discourage any individual considering Atlas to entrust your precious belongs with this company.

I had set up a date with Atlas Van 2 months in advance to come on July 6, 2015 to pick my furniture and things in Davenport, Iowa and to ship to Phoenix, Arizona. I am going on week 3 and have gotten nothing but the runaround with them about where my items are! Between Iowa and Phoenix is 1600 hundred miles! I contacted the local movers back in Iowa who work for them which are really nice but they work for a very poor unreliable unethical moving company Atlas Van. The guy has done his best to help me but Atlas just keeps feeding him lines after lines of lies.
I can pretty well guess by the way they treat their customers with such disrespect and uncaring attitude that if I ever do receive my belongings they will be missing or damaged. Then I will have to get a lawyer and file a complaint to get them to own up to their irresponsibility and distaste to the customer! I am very saddened and upset that I trusted these unethical people to my personal belongings and family heirlooms!! It makes me sick to my stomach! I will be advising everyone not to ever go with them and to ever trust them!
They are very crooked in their dealings, and will be a huge battle that I will never forget! All I want is my things and that means ALL of my things and not damaged! It is so very sad that this moving company treats their customers so badly and they continually get away with it. They should do the right thing by doing their job that they claim that they are so ethical about and have the decency to call the customer and give them updates and just deliver people's things! I most likely will not see my things again and trying to get paid to recover the losses will be a losing battle!

All of my belongings were loaded on June 17, 2015 by Atlas Action Moving in Eagan, MN. They were great, arrived on time, were helpful & did a good job. Contract stated that everything would be delivered between 6/19/15 & 6/29/15 at my new home in Lewisville, TX. On 6/27 I called to see when load would be delivered, was told that they had no driver & I should call the Atlas corp to find out more. Atlas stated that the delivery date had been extended to 6/30/15 - 7/10/15. When I asked how they could do that and why had they not called me to let me know, I was told, "We don't have a driver so we have to extend the date & we don't have the manpower to call." I then was told to call claims. Talked to claims & was told to submit claims on forms emailed. I sent claims as directed then sent email asking for confirmation that they were sent. Never hear back, that was on 7/3/15.
On 7/8/15 called Atlas to check on delivery date. Still no driver but working on it, won't be delivered by 7/10. On 7/9 they actually called me to let me know that they figured out how they would get it delivered by using a third party for part of the delivery. On 7/10 was told truck arrived but would not know when the delivery would take place & would call on Mon, 7/13 to let me know. I called them on 7/13, was told that truck was in Eagan at Atlas Action Moving but that they did not know when they could load my belongings from warehouse where they decided to put them. When I called Eagan I was told that they were busy, might be able to load it on 7/15 or 7/16, maybe. This is so very hard to understand, a moving Co. that can't move belongings.
Do not use Atlas. The local company loads & takes your money, all the operations are done by the big Atlas Co. (many dropped calls). I sit on a folding chair in an empty house. Only have the clothing that I packed for 10 days. Everything that I want to use, I have, but can't use because it's in a warehouse. We are just about at a month without my belongings. This has been the worst experience. DO NOT USE ATLAS, local or nationwide.

I was in touch with a Denver franchise of Atlas. I thought I'd be dealing with them, but Atlas did most of the work, which was misrepresented to me. They also indicated that the franchise had won many quality awards. I later discovered that these are internal awards that Atlas gives its franchises. Also misrepresented. My movers arrived at the end of the timeframe with food, so I knew where their priorities were at. It took them 4 hours to load up a small bedroom apartment (for reference, I once had movers load, drive to a new apartment, and unload into this apartment in 3 hours total). I had many concerns because I had to start a 14 hour road trip as soon as they were done.
All of my concerns were mitigated by a representative in the beginning and then flatly ignored. Once they had my things, I received little communication. I was constantly calling asking where they were at. I was told they "were working on it" and "looking for things." Basically, the franchise ignored me because they didn't want to tell me Atlas had royally screwed up. They flat out told me that they were very busy. Boo hoo. My shipment arrived days late with many items damaged.
I submitted everything for a claim and spoke with a representative. Since finishing everything on my end, I've unsurprisingly had trouble finding updates. This company is a disaster. Do not use them. You will regret it. They damaged my items, lost a box, and failed in every sense. The people who unloaded were a local franchise who did amazing. At least the local AZ people are great. Corporate and Denver are a complete nightmare.

I chose Prager based upon several referrals and some good reviews. What I did not realize was that I was actually hiring Atlas, whose reviews are terrible. This move was a nightmare. The packers arrived and began packing in a very chaotic manner, with things from different rooms being combined. I found a part of my office computer in a box marked "bathroom" and have another box that says "stereo and glass", despite giving the packers the actual shipping box from my stereo, which they then used to pack other items when they ran out of boxes. Yes, they ran out of boxes, and began to use random boxes I had in my attic. The driver was supposed to load a day later, but arrived early packing day and made me take him to my office for a second pick up, causing me not to be able to supervise the packing. And then the office items got intermingled with garage and living room items, contrary to the contract.
While I was gone, things that were not supposed to be packed (we planned to put them in bedding boxes the next morning) vanished. I thought into boxes, but some of them were never seen again. My contract stated the home would be protected from damage, but I had to insist this be done, and still ended up running around with touch-up paint. THEN the driver from DeVries Moving (another Atlas subsidiary) quit his job on delivery day and spent the day on the phone while other men unloaded the truck. As I unpacked, it became clear not everything was here. I am missing 6 sets of towels (curiously, I have one towel from one set -- when they were all stored on the same shelf), all my shoes (boots all arrived) that were stored in boxes -- the boxes are here, not the shoes. I also am missing two lovely foreign pieces of artwork.
Atlas says that since I signed for the load, they are not responsible for missing items. I may have all the boxes, but I do not have all the goods. These are unethical people -- I was asked to sign a blank tablet several times, while someone said, "you are signing that A or B" and then the paperwork was e-mailed, which I did not see until I was able to set up my computer many days after the items were gone. Atlas will not even attempt to trace my items (the truck made 4 stops after leaving my home), and my belief is that they somehow never made it onto the truck. We inspected the house after, and it was empty. But I am definitely missing many things.
When I spoke to the expediter on moving day and told her it was a nightmare, she kept saying "that's good", but no attempt was made to help me. The people I called the day after the boxes arrived, as things were discovered missing and broken, kept telling me "I am writing this all down" and then handing me off to the next evasive person. I filled out all their claim forms in detail, only to be put off for two weeks and then told "the claim is denied since you signed for the shipment".

But I do know that upon delivery I noted that my furniture was not wrapped and was met with 3 holes in my couch, 2 broken rocking chairs, innumerable scratches to my bedroom set, a 1 x 3 piece of wood broken off the bottom of an armoire, a crushed arm on an overstuffed chair ... the list goes on and on. My work has required me to relocate no less than 10 times over the past 30 years and I have never experienced this much damage in all my other moves combined. The only items unscathed were those I packed myself.
Prior to the move, Atlas recommended I use my homeowners insurance as they did not offer any extended coverage. At $.60 per pound, the reimbursement could not possibly cover the expense of repairs. And interestingly enough, your homeowners more than likely will not cover damages either. BUYER BEWARE. Hindsight teaches that if the moving company offers no extended insurance coverage, you should run away.

Both pointed the finger at each other as they tried to justify their inept operations. Here's what we experienced: "Not to exceed" pricing where they basically refuse to pick up boxes after the move; damaged goods; delayed delivery of about 20% of our stuff after the first truck showed up already half full to move a 5 bedroom house with a full basement; unbelievably rude customer service from both Mallory as well as Atlas corporate after we were on the hook and they already had our stuff loaded; the delay was almost two weeks; refusal on their part to provide any sort of price concession.
Did I mention rude customer service? Mallory's scheduling guru cussed at me as if the whole thing was my fault instead of his after he tried to blame it all on Atlas corporate. They simply blamed it on him, and everyone refused to help us until I threatened legal action. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company at all costs. Be warned. Atlas Van Lines/Ace Southwest Moving & Storage are the worst movers ever! We have moved numerous times in state, across the country and overseas and we have never had a more horrendous, unprofessional moving experience than we had with these companies. It started with an Atlas crew and truck that brought our things to Austin. Once it arrived at the storage facility (all parties involved knew well ahead of the move date that we were storing our things, including the Atlas rep who came to assess how much stuff we had and how much storage space we would need), an Ace Southwest crew took over, and that's when the nightmare began.
First, it turned out that the Atlas rep had misjudged how many storage units we would need, telling us that two would be enough. But the Ace Southwest crew, instead of telling us right away that two units weren't enough and that we would need to rent another one, proceeded to try and cram everything we own into the two units. It wasn't until after many hours of offloading our stuff from the truck that they finally told us we needed more space. By that time, it seems, the damage was underway. We didn't know to what extent our things were damaged/broken/destroyed until 11 months later, when we moved out of storage into a house. From the minute the movers we hired to move us out of storage opened the units and started looking around, it was obvious that things weren't going to go well.
Ace Southwest movers had apparently piled our things into a 15- to 18-foot-high tower (tables on top of armchairs and wrought-iron outdoor furniture on top of that; heavy furniture on top of boxes marked FRAGILE, etc). Or maybe it was the way the same Ace Southwest movers wedged things in so tightly in an effort to cram everything into two units that resulted in several expensive items being gouged and permanently broken, including a fairly new freezer. Either way, it was clear to everyone there (us and the movers, who were not from Ace Southwest or Atlas Van Lines) that the movers who had packed our things into the storage units (Atlas Van Lines/Ace Southwest) were responsible for the damage to our furniture and other belongings.
So we moved into our house and started unpacking. The Atlas crew at our original location was apparently in a hurry to get going because when many of our things, from lamps and lampshades to dishes and appliances, were jammed into boxes without any paper or protection and ended up broken, dented, ripped or damaged to the point of being useless. We took an inventory of the damaged items and contacted Ace Southwest about filing a claim. They passed the buck and told us that all claims had to be filed with Atlas. So we spent an hour or more typing it all in online and filed it.
A few days later, Atlas denied the claim, stating that it was more than nine months since the move and therefore the claim wasn't valid. We went back and forth with them, via email and telephone, for several days, pointing out first and foremost that, in fact, it had only been one month since the move because our things had been in storage. As we pointed out, the storage units were so tightly packed to the rafters that we couldn't even access our things to assess any potential damage.
Atlas attempted to skirt its responsibility by telling us that regulations require movers to complete all claims within nine months; however, when we requested a copy of the regulations, we discovered that it says that a mover may not be required to accept your claim. In other words, there is nothing prohibiting them from accepting responsibility for the damage they did. Moreover, it isn't as if the claim was for many thousands; in the end, it probably would have totaled about $1,700 or so, since they did manage to damage a few antiques that needed repair.
The indifference and unwillingness on the part of Atlas Van Lines/Ace Southwest to take responsibility for what their crews did is stunning. The lack of accountability is appalling. We can only hope that this review helps others avoid this kind of experience by exposing exactly how Atlas Van Lines and Ace Southwest treat their customers: with contempt and callous disregard.

Bottom line: Do not trust this company. They do not show up on moving day - even if you submit to their overpriced quote. They are irresponsible and incompetent. With much advance notice, a move from the USA to Canada had been arranged over the telephone and email many times, including the transfer of important documents required for Canada Customs. Written assurances including a confirmation number and a registration number were repeatedly provided. I thought that agreeing to an unreasonable quote (tantamount to highway robbery) would provide enough of a financial incentive to get the job done.
Nope. One day before the actual move date, I did not receive a call to confirm a packing and loading time. No one in Mississauga responded to my repeated calls or emails on this day. The next day, being the actual move day, no one showed up. After more desperate phone calls and emails, someone finally responded. I never got a straight answer but it seemed as if no one passed on the registration number across the border. I cannot confirm this because every time I spoke to someone different, I received a different (and equally untrustworthy) response. At times, the person on the other end of the line had the audacity to become annoyed at my repeated calls when it was their actions that put me in this awful predicament.
Unfortunately my plane tickets were booked the following day to coincide with the end of my rental lease. Without a place to stay, I had to leave the country but I also had no place to store my goods. No other moving companies were available. At such short notice, not even junk disposal companies were available. Aside from what I could take on the plane, I had to take the painful step of personally destroying all my worldly possessions which were all in good working order. To add insult to injury, while I was physically on the plane from the USA to Canada, AMJ Campbell had emailed me to say that because I hadn't responded to their email within a few hours, they assumed I had found another moving company and my case was now closed.
As a final spit in the face, now I have to purchase everything again that I had been forced to destroy. I thought that having spoken to someone over the phone and receiving email updates frequently with confirmation and registration numbers in hand - even agreeing to an unreasonable quote - made the move a done deal. I was wrong. In the end, none of this amounted to anything. I was still hung out to dry. As a direct result of this experience, I will never recommend AMJ Campbell to any decent human being on this earth. This company is utterly incompetent and irresponsible. They have caused me a great deal of pain and hardship - something I will never forgive or forget!

They are almost 9 inches high (each) all four were in the same box really well wrapped, although the moving men unsealed all boxes and rewrapped and noted contents on the bill of laden. I wrote a letter enclosing the bill of laden and a photo of the pattern that is missing. I included all my contact information, and to date they have not acknowledged receipt of the letter.

Atlas is the worst. We're currently in the middle of a military move with them, so we didn't get to pick. After reading horrific reviews of the company I was concerned, but figured that as a military family they would do their best to take care of those who have sacrificed and served their country. This has not been the case. Our packers were rude and unprofessional, mocking our home and my actions, including going as far as calling our neighborhood "ghetto." They took an entire day to pack very little, but that was fine. Before they left, my husband asked them about moving and the rest of the process. We were told to not worry that our things would arrive by July 15, the required date that was contractually set. Worried our things may arrive at our new home before us, we called to check if they had left our city yet. We were told to not worry and that things would arrive by the given date and they didn't know where our goods were right now.
Once we arrived at our destination, we contacted our Atlas liaison (military move coordinator) and asked again about the status of our goods... Every phone call seemed to tell us that they didn't know the status of our goods, but that they'd be here by July 15. July 8 she left us a voicemail ensuring again that our goods would arrive on time. Thursday July 10 we called again, seeing if they had a day yet so that we could secure the use of the freight elevator in our new apartment. We were told at this time that our stuff was still in ABQ, our point of origin, and would not make the obligatory delivery date. WE were not given a new date/window for delivery and felt betrayed that we had to call them to get this information. It is federally REQUIRED that the moving company inform us as soon as they know our goods will not arrive on time. They didn't inform us. We had to call and seek out this info.
I would love to see what their official records state. Additionally, when they informed us of late delivery, they were obligated to give us a new delivery date/window, which they did not. WE tried to get this but have yet to receive any response and it is now the weekend. We're sitting in an empty apartment across the country waiting for our possessions and without any communication or estimated date of arrival, have no idea what we should buy to get by. I would hope Atlas would treat any customer better than this, but especially a military family. Sickened and disappointed. Don't use Atlas if you don't want to be betrayed, used, and treated poorly.

Having Atlas move my belongings from Michigan to Florida was one of the worst experiences of my life. I agreed to pay a set price only to have the company charge me an additional $471.96 the day of delivery because the driver said he could not get the truck into the 250-unit apartment complex. I had no choice to pay or have my things left in storage, then pay storage fees and another mover to deliver it. Upon arrival, the driver told me most customers have their boxes stored in the garage and carry them as needed.
I directed them to place all boxes in the apartment except the ones marked "garge." They carried in the three large pieces of furniture and stacked all of the boxes in the living room, then gave me the inventory pages to sign so they could leave. This was my first time using a moving company and I didn't know they are supposed to give the customer the inventory pages PRIOR to carrying in things so the customer can check them off as brought in. I was not in Michigan when the load was picked up and asked the driver how I was supposed to know if everything arrived.
He replied, "It's all here." It was my mistake to believe him. I'm missing five cartons (tools, summer clothes, misc.) and a large metal shelf. It's bad enough to lose my belongings that I paid to have delivered but the complete lack of customer service, acknowledgement and assistance in recovering my items is a joke. The company ceases to care about the customer once it has been paid. I will never use Atlas again and have shared by experience with everyone I know. I wish I had read the complaints BEFORE I used Atlas. It was an expensive learning experience and now I'm just another statistic.

The sales team and more coordinator were excellent and I felt I was in good hands. Then my worst nightmare happened. The driver/loader/packer team. A father and son team didn't pack our items with any sort of care. I was promised that every item of furniture would be blanket wrapped and shrink wrapped. When they came they didn't do any of that. But driver promised once our items were moved to the bigger truck, he would properly wrap them. Alas when our items came off the truck my couch was only partially wrapped with a blanket and the cushions were laying on the dirty floor of truck. I paid for our mattress to be boxed, which they did but not the box spring. Both the box spring and couch were dirty. They broke our dresser, side table, a vase, and a mirror. The claims department offered us 600.00 for the damages. So $100 after our $500 deductible.
I am still awaiting a response from the customer relation dept. so we will see if they make things right. I chose Atlas based on two recommendations by personal friends. A company is only good as their weakest link. It all depends who your driver/packer is. Our driver actually laughed at how much bubble wrap and shrink wrap we used. Glad we did! Only items that broke were the ones they wrapped. If you can, pack yourself and drive yourself. I was hoping for the price of $5600.00 I would be stress free but not the case. I could have moved myself for $3,800.00 but justified the extra cost for the ease of someone else moving us. So not worth the money. Unless you get lucky and have no issues.

Prager/Atlas will not honor damage claim. Prager, the Atlas agent, damaged a marble table top during my move from Illinois to Wisconsin. They recommended a company to crate the marble piece before it was moved. The piece was crated in Prager's presence. They loaded it on the truck; they drove it to my new home. They unloaded it and when it was uncrated it was cracked in half. They denied my damage claim, trying to blame the crating company they recommended and oversaw the crating process. The job foreman said the damage was caused by the crate being laid flat when it was unloaded. Do not believe that they will honor the "Full Value Replacement" they so strongly promote during the sales process. Buyer Beware!

They wouldn't give me my goods until I signed that they had to use a shuttle truck for an additional fee of $475. They said the parking lot was too small for a moving truck. First, it wasn't too small. Second, I had told them where I was moving at the beginning. If a shuttle truck was needed, they should have told me that in the price quote. Atlas refuses to remove the additional charge, and I refuse to pay the extra $475. I will never use Atlas again. Beware that Atlas Van Lines will come back after the move and attempt to extort additional money from the customer. Do not use Atlas! There must be other honest companies out there. As an Atlas Van Lines agent in Louisville we used Shetler-Derby Moving & Storage Atlas Van Lines to move less than a room size packaging, to rural WA location. We packed all the boxes of small items, except some paintings, large items and add shape ones, which the company packed for us the day they arrive for pick up. We had to pay the minimum shipping requirement charge, which was alright with us.
We paid for the partial packing and the company suppose to have door to door delivery into the house in WA. It took few weeks, and we received a call that the delivery is about to arrive. The 48' truck arrived and of course could not enter the gravel road leading to the house due to its size. The driver told us that we will need to pay for renting an additional smaller track to deliver the goods to the house. That was not part of our original deal. The goods should have been transformed to a reasonable size before delivery.
Luckily that day we had two workers doing some work around the house. So we used their track to go down, load the good, and the driver got everything into our home. When I unpacked everything there were two large items missing, an antique Fire stoker with copper/brass horse head and an antique Brass towel rack. I filed a complain via a questionnaire I received from the moving company, and few days later I received an email from the General Manager of the Louisville office.
After checking into it he contact the driver to learn that he did have those two numbered items with him! I am not sure why that day or the day after, he did not notify the company of such? So first we heard that he had those items and that he will shipped them to us using UPS. Few weeks later, we heard that he shipped it, after few more weeks when asking again they said that they will contact the driver again.
Now four months later while asking again, we heard that he shipped it, and since we did not received it we ought to fill a claim form. I asked to see the driver's shipping receipt so if he really shipped it I can trace back where it has been lost. (Something that the moving company should have done to begin with). Those items are irreplaceable. They also have an emotional value that cannot be replace. This was such a poor conduct by this company!! !

We decided on Atlas, the local carrier was Guardian. I can only say I wish I had read these reviews before we decided to go with Atlas for our move. It was our very first move and expected a lot more than we got from them. They showed up late and left early, threw things in the back of the truck to hurry and weren't even logging the items. We asked to be there when they unpack them to make sure they were all there, they advised we could not. They took 3 weeks to get our delivery date. Then they charged us for "forgotten items". They showed up to deliver but wouldn't until the bill was paid in full. We had no choice but to pay.
The driver was late again, and decided himself he could not make it up our driveway, therefore charging more to rent a U-Haul. Stuff was I tagged, broken, damaged and missing. We wrote a survey requesting them to call us; never got one. I called over 20 times and sent numerous emails requesting restitution, but nothing. They have us an estimate to repair items, but it would never be the same. Gave us barely anything for missing parts which we can no longer use those items without it. Had a "parts" box and have no idea where the parts go. Had a bag of nut bolts and screws... not labeled and have no idea what they go to. They never returned calls or emails. The movers broke several items by dropping them. They smashed in a freezer door... They were continually mad at us. We even fed them for 2 of the three days. When they left after dark, they threw out their lunch garbage in the yard and driveway.
We had to leave some items because they said they couldn't get them on the truck. It took them 3 tries to get a riding lawnmower on the truck. It took them about an hour and a half to get the refrigerator out of the house. Then we had to tell them to put the doors back on door frames of house once they took them off. There was one man on the first crew, that was such a wise guy, I had to get away from him because I was afraid we were going to get in a fight. I could go on and on. All this was performed by Guardian Relocation out of Memphis, TN. They are supposed to be a division of Atlas Van Lines. Absolutely the worst outfit I have ever moved with. And all this over a 120-mile move. If you need to move, I would never recommend this outfit. Extremely unprofessional. Specialized Cargo Haulers (SCH) of Texas (which did a great job) moved, unloaded, stored my shipment and took my check of agreed upon amount and cashed my check. Then one month later I get a call from the owner of SCH Randy that says I owe $300 dollars for a shipment that weighed more than what was agreed upon. He stated that his driver failed to collect additional amount. There was no paperwork that the driver had from SCH stating this fact. He went on to say that his driver would have to pay for it out of pocket. I stated that I fail to see how that affects me as I have paid for services rendered.
Then approx 2 months later I get a bill from Atlas Corporate credit analyst Bev ** stating I owe this additional amount. I am disappointed that the owner of SCH told me $300 dollars and the Atlas Corporate Credit Department told me $233.51. It sounds fishy to me. It's hard to trust people when they flat out lie to you. The damage included broken picture frames (which they claimed were in boxes I packed myself which was totally untrue), damaged matting around paintings, and a badly damaged expensive antique style Italian chest. They said the chest had damages before it went into shipment which is totally untrue and I have a picture to prove it.
They did accept damage of a broken pedestal but because of my deductible, there was no refund. After I sent the claim, there was only one very curt letter in which they accepted no responsibility. End of report, the letter said. The driver of the van was courteous and helpful and my complaint is not about them. It deals only with Atlas Van Lines. I recently moved from East Coast to Midwest. I got multiple quotes, and chose Atlas for a number of reasons, even though they were not the least expensive. I booked the date more than 8 weeks in advance, because I would be taking off of work during my last (stressful) week wrapping up a job, and because the city I lived in required permits to bring a moving truck in (which took weeks to obtain and visits to 2 different locations during business hours to get). I paid extra to have a family heirloom specially crated, as it is very fragile.
The week before the move, I could get no one to respond (via phone or email) to give details on when to expect movers, etc. After 7pm the night before the move, I got a call that they would have to push back the move, as they didn't have a driver available. I explained that we could not, due to permits and I needed to finish my current job and race across the country to start a new job. They agreed, and then told me that I would be putting my items more at risk, because they would have to be double handled and put in storage at the point of origin. I was stuck.
They showed up the next morning, late, with a truck too small. Several hours in, they had packed all they could, and then called for another truck. We waited hours. We finished very late at night. We had a delivery window of 2-9 days, so after finishing my job, I drove through the night to get across the country. Their online tracking system (one reason I chose them as I had such a tight moving window) never showed that my belongings left the point of origin. 14 days later, I finally got someone to call me back, who stated that the tracking system wasn't working, and my stuff should arrive within days. I had started my new job, could not take off work, and was living on nothing. They mentioned that I could file for compensation due to the lateness, but never mentioned that I would need to keep the receipts for food/hotel, etc. (so I could not file for reimbursement when the paperwork arrived weeks later).
My stuff finally arrived, but they didn't have enough people to unload the truck. The piece I had specially crated was damaged in multiple ways. Another antique piece (a hutch) had, literally, been smashed. 3 boxes were missing, but there was no way to tell which as most of the stickers had come off. While unpacking, we found so many broken items and noted that frequently the fragile markings had been ignored and those boxes would be at the bottom of stacks of boxes. Lamps were twisted, wrapped furniture had become unwrapped and fabric ripped, and several large furniture items were damaged. It was a nightmare. The person who was available by phone intermittently during the move, and whom I spoke to regarding not paying for the expensive crate (where the crating itself caused more damage), promised to follow up with me - was never heard from again.
I filed all the paperwork as required by the insurance protocol within days. Weeks went by and I never heard from them. I called, emailed, and confirmed that they received. I had the crated piece repaired (by the crating company - who was reasonably responsive), although some of the damage couldn’t be repaired, and the piece had lost significant value.
At this point, 2 months after the move, I have not received reimbursement from the crate, but I am exhausted dealing with it, and have decided to let it go. I just want to settle in to my new home and town and job without added stress. Then, I received a bill for another $700 (although they had charged my credit card already $200 more than my "Do not exceed quote" in addition to charging me for the crate). Seriously? And I have sent emails to their customer service, and filled out their "survey" including checking the box that I wanted someone to contact me (they never have). But they have been fast enough to send bills and respond to tell me I need to pay them.

This is my son's first experience with a moving company and it will be his last with Atlas. The movers did not show up on time, arrived three days late with the only large item (a heavy couch) in pieces. Upon contacting Atlas, they made it extremely difficult to file a claim often not returning calls. Finally, they determined, without weighing, that the couch weighed three hundred-some pounds, it is much heavier than that and awarded him a little over two hundred dollars in compensation! Where is he supposed to find a couch in New York City for that price? Not wanting to buy used due to bedbugs.
They also smugly said that he had insured for only 60 cents per pound and had he insured for 6.00 per pound, he would have even compensated at a much higher price. No one told him he had that option! They produced a copy of something with his signature and on that sheet. They had put an x by .60. He did not fill out that bottom portion, they did and I assume it was after his couch was destroyed and he filed a claim? Shame on Atlas! Consumers, be aware!

He never checked off my manifest. He was in a hurry. He had another drop and delivery to other families.
Atlas is responsible for all we lost. They had no problem getting their money but couldn't care less for what we lost. We were living out off boxes until they could check it off. I'm almost 50 - the items I lost and were damaged were very important to us. I'm sure this is what they do everyday. Their customer service and care for the emotions we went through was unacceptable. I can't tell you how many times I cried over this whole Atlas experience - how shameful.
My husband was in Texas working starting our new life. And I did all the moving part. He was not at the moving sites, only at the end. I feel like I was violated emotionally and physically. And no one seems to care with this company about our horrible experience from the company, the driver and his choice in the inappropriate lumpers in the Montana start. Until I get some form of an apology and my items replaced, I will never recommend this company to anyone, and I am I. The business where word of mouth says it all. Thank you for at least doing this complaint.
In the old days, people used to care what happened with people. There's no civility, only getting paid for a job not well done in my book. I didn't have millions of dollars in items, only items that I worked on the hour for many years to have. I was not asking to get something for nothing, just my stuff replaced. I moved home last year as my health is very poor and I am an elderly. I did this to be with my family. I now live in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. The cabin is almost empty except for clothes. I guess they didn't want those. They charged $5,000 to deliver boxes with strange things, some even with trash. Much was broken that was there. Some boxes were full of paper. I got a few main things, but I am living in poverty. I've had to buy dishes, glasses, beds, chairs, and I can't begin to name what all. Someone, somewhere has all the things I have accumulated for sixty years. Needless to say, this will not be the comforting thing I had hoped for. How can a company claim to send my things or anyone’s things, charge a lot of money for it and then sit back while that person becomes bitter and enraged over the loss of her precious life's mementos? Whatever they wanted, they took.
Now, I do without many basic things or spend lots of time buying used items. This has been and still is a nightmare. It isn't just about money. It's about the loss of decency and honor this country had at one time. This company is so far from what our country is about. It makes a laughingstock out of all the people who gathered their things in a covered wagon and moved west. I'm ashamed to know this company. I've read where sometimes the movers will hold your things hostage. They didn't do that to me. They wanted the money upfront. It took a few months, but I paid them. The joke is on me. There was nothing to hold hostage after they took what they wanted. And all I wanted was to come home. A woman moved home to die, but she will not die with her possessions.

This is Phoebe from Atlas Van Lines. I would like to apologize on part of our company and agent. Please email me at moving@atlasvanlines.com with Attn:Phoebe in the subject line. I would be more than happy to work with our claims department and resolve this situation. Please let me know which agent you worked with so that I can bring this to their attention as well.

I've read these complaints towards Atlas Van Lines. I have the same experience. My stuff was all smashed, all my heirlooms. They jack-knifed the truck in front of my house with everything in it. They charged my credit card whatever and whenever they wanted. I have tried to solve this with them for 4 months now. They have denied it all. They did not pay for my damaged items, which they said in writing they would. They agreed in writing that their bills did not make sense.
Now, I am taking all my documents and filing with small claims court. I advise everyone to do the same. This company needs to be closed down. There are way too many complaints. My experience is with the Windsor, Ontario AMJ Campbell and Atlas Van Lines they deal with. I hired them to move my things six hours away, and my things did not make it there. They ended up keeping my stuff hostage here in Windsor and told me I had to pay their storage fees without a contract.
After complaining over and over to them about bogus charges to my Visa, we had enough and took our things out of their storage to one of our own. When our things were delivered, they added another $1200 to the bill and said if we didn't pay it, they were shutting the doors and we would not get our stuff back. It will be a major regret if you use this company. Just read all the feedback.

This company is very dishonest, they will give you a rate and then turn around and charge you a lot more. Please be aware of them, do not use them. They are liars. When you call them, they take forever to get back to you. I had my own helpers that helped unload the truck. They didn't put furniture back the way it was supposed to be and they wet my mattresses and in general, I would never recommend them to anyone.

I just wanted to comment that this is not a bogus claim and the company representative that posted after my initial complaint and inferred it is a bogus claim, is just another company patsy trying to cure the poor reputation of a disreputable company with multiple complaints against them. This customer took their cash, valuables and medicines required for the move exactly as instructed by the mover. Because we obtained our prescriptions in 90-day supplies, there was a 30-day supply of prescription drugs left for shipment that was never seen again. But this instruction is not and should not be an excuse for theft of personal property by the movers. This isn't all that disappeared.
Had the movers been honest and told us they would steal from us, they would have shipped nothing and there would have been no complaints at all. The better policy is to ship nothing with this company then there will be no loss or damages to your property. But it was more than the theft of property, numerous damages, initially refusing to unpack us, intentionally hiding carrier packed boxes so they wouldn't have to finish the unpacking, walking out in the middle of the unpack, failure to return phone calls or e-mails, failure to abide by federal statutes regarding information on additional billing and complaints, and refusing to take responsibility for damages and more.
This complaint is well documented and was only resolved after I initiated legal actions against the company. During the period I tried to work with the claims department, they never returned a single phone call and failed to respond to e-mails as well. In identifying the parties to sue I learned the company wasn't properly registered to even conduct business in the two states they picked up in and delivered to by the names they gave me. Further, the claims manager wouldn't provide the legal name of the company for the lawsuit and I was only able to get that information for the legal action after much research which led me to the attorney for this company. Bogus claim? Not hardly! Nightmare? Yes.

I used this mover as part of an employer-paid move. Never again! I was estimated one weight and amounts were increased by my padding. The ending weight was over by 2,600 pounds after I moved 2,000 pounds myself. I was told to buy the driver and packers lunch and they would take care of me. That was just another way to extract additional compensation for a poor quality move.
The used my packing materials (tape, markers and boxes) because the driver lacked sufficient supplies. The driver delivered my property damaged and initially refused to unpack or even Jerry rigged my damaged refrigerator so I could use it. Over two pages of damaged items, stolen prescription drugs, failure to respond to complaints, walked out on unpacking, failure to respond to claims filed, shifting from person to person, no arbitration policy or complaint process provided as required under 49CFR 375.213. It is not yet resolved and there is no indication it will be anytime soon and it's been four weeks. Carrier refuses to communicate.

Long story short, I thought I hired Atlas Van Lines to move me from Oakland, CA to Tacoma, WA. They gave me the lowest quote until they got my stuff on the truck, and that's when the problem started! Instantly, they charged me $880 for packing material on top of the $963 quote they originally gave me. So still not knowingly, I agreed to that, and so they drove off with my stuff. I called the very next day to get the real weight of the move and then they said it was 1250 lbs. overweight! Okay, now $560 more to the bill, still not knowing until I had to fly back to California and wanted to call them to make a payment towards my bill. And this is where it gets good. I called 411 information and asked for Atlas Van Lines and then I learned the truth. It was all a scam! I hadn't been dealing with the real company at all.
So I played it cool like I didn't know who they were and what they were doing. Finally, I got them where I wanted them! When the guy came to deliver my stuff, I was cool until he opened the truck. That's when my whole family came out and started unloading my stuff free of charge! These idiots even had the audacity to hire help from Craigslist to help them unload the shipment. The poor guy almost got involved in a scam that would have only paid him about $50 while they were trying to profit $1844. So I guess it's not wise to scam people because you might run across the wrong person, like myself! I got the last laugh and got my whole shipment moved for only $500. That's all I gave them. It was a deposit. I know they read these comments, so Rachael and Itzak and whoever else is involved on this scam, thank you for being so greedy. This move was on you. Oh, by the way, did the driver make it home yet? Did he even have gas money?

I just wanted to put some of your minds at ease a bit. First off, this is not the legitimate Atlas Van Lines World Group. This is a scam that hacks into their site and reroutes you to theirs. I too set up my move with Rachel, as Isaac showed up, was a fast talker and blah blah what happens to everyone else. Except, he didn't know he was dealing with a cheap German and an almost divorced-pissed-off woman.
Needless to say, Isaac is sitting his ass in jail at the very moment in Utah, along with his 2 compadres; and their stolen truck has been impounded. Hope this makes some of you feel better. PS: before they drove him away, I gave him the bird.

I used a website (Craigslist) to look up affordable movers for an in town move after getting a quote from another company that would have cost me more than $1,000 to move a couple of blocks. The website did a "search" for affordable movers with the lowest rates for a two bedroom house, and then came up with Atlas Van Lines. I was contacted by "Rachel" (if that is her real name) of Atlas who did an estimate on the phone, asking me what was being moved, and estimated a move of 4,500 pounds, which she said would take three hours, at a cost of $105.00 per hour, with a total cost of $305.00 and a 7% discount for a total of $292.00.
The movers were supposed to show up at 7:30 A.M. on March 17, 2010, but did not arrive until 9:30. The main guy in charge, Issac, looked around my house and immediately said “our truck isn't big enough,” or words to that effect, and told me he would not be able to move all of my property, including property in the garage (boxes, shelving, work bench) or any of the boxes in the living room, or bookshelves. I was disappointed, but foolishly told them to go ahead and start working, as I was focused on getting moved into my new house.
Near the end of packing the truck, Issac informed me that he had used quite a lot of packing materials and that he would have to call his manager (Rachel) to get a new estimate on the move. When he had the truck all packed up, he informed me that because of the use of materials and the extra time, the new price was $1,500 cash, or $1,600 if I wanted to use a credit card.
I briefly considered ordering everything off of the truck, but I was concerned at that point as to what these guys might do to my property, so I agreed to pay (I should have called the police). Issac also mentioned that it was a good idea for me to pay them a "tip" for their services, which I took as a mildly veiled threat if I did not. All cash was to be paid upfront before they would unload the vehicle.
In the process of unloading, these clowns broke the base of an electric piano, and tried to hide it by kicking the broken pieces aside. They only removed the packing material on some of my property, and what they did remove they left scattered all over my front yard without an effort at cleanup. I was charged $1,200 more than the original estimate, and my youngest son's electric piano was damaged.

They said they were Atlas Van Lines. They quoted $1600 move with detailed list of items. They showed up, packed me half up and then extorted me for an extra $907 in packing charges. I ended up leaving several things behind because I could not afford more. They guaranteed delivery on Sunday (5 days) and they showed up over a week after. I called and called and called and no one called back. When I called Atlas corporate headquarters, they informed me that "Rachel" was operating illegally with their name. Tod S. (Atlas Lawyer) told me they have 25 similar cases exactly like mine.
He was correct that when they finally show up expect to be charged a lot more than quoted, receive no copies of paperwork and be extorted for more and more while over 25% of my items disappeared. Gone. No recourse. $4500 move and thousands of dollars in damage. I have photos of the driver, the truck, the DOT #, the license, the weight receipt and other papers (I did this in secret) but I have been severely victimized by this company. Atlas says they have 25 such cases currently from the exact same people in the last six months! Never use Atlas Van Lines! I do not wish anyone to suffer what I have gone through. My experience has been exactly what others have described earlier and more. I was quoted approximately $1200 for a one-bedroom, 2000 lbs. interstate move. I had itemized the stuff I would need to be professionally packed and I was quoted that it would be an extra $100 as packing material. My final quote became approximately $1300. Till then all was fine except that I was never clarified that nothing on the quote was actually binding. They were free to twist charges and conditions to their benefit!
The Saga started with the foreman (not belonging to AVL) making me sign a bunch of papers with some conditions I did not agree to but was forced to sign since he said he would not start the move unless he had all the signatures in place. I was made to sign on a blank sheet with itemized costs for packing supplies. When I mentioned that I had already agreed on $100, I was told yes it would be what was mentioned in the contract. I was not given a copy of anything I signed. I was told that the office would send it to me, which till date has not happened. Packers started work at 1:20 pm and ended after 7 pm when all my personal stuff was already packed by me and I was moving stuff of 1 bedroom/studio size. They were utterly unprofessional!
However, over halfway through the move with all the stuff I had packed already on the truck and some furniture packed by the movers, the foreman claimed that the cost of packing supplies would be more. I immediately told him this was not agreed upon. He insisted that it was just his estimate, maybe it would be around $300, and he would give the final estimate at the end of packing. I stopped him from packing half my furniture just to keep the charges down.
When I mentioned that I did not require all that intricate packing and whatever minimum is in the contract would work for me, he said it was the policy of the company to ensure all things reached safe and that is how they will move it. When I called the AVL office to talk about it they had the same reply. They would not move my stuff in any other way. Meaning, they would pack the way they wanted and I would have to pay for it! When your stuff is already packed and loaded and you need to be in another place to join work, you have no choice but to wait to know the final estimate of packing.
Well, final estimate was a whopping $1085 as charges for cost of packing material (bubble wrap, shrink wrap and few cardboard boxes), just to pack only half of the furniture initially intended. He had added numbers on the itemized charges on the slip, which I was initially made to sign with the assurance that it was going to be a total of $100. So now I had my signature on the total he had created. Also, that I had to pay 60% of the total cost by cash or he would not accept any other form of payment. The contract said I could pay by major credit cards and I was not ready to pay in any other way. After a lot of discussion and with no one to talk to at the office, being after hours and really late, with a manager who I was not allowed to talk to by the foreman, he walked out and took away all my stuff in the truck.
I had been initially assured by AVL and the foreman that right after my stuff got loaded it would be taken to the weighing place and they would let me know how much the weight of the shipment would be and send me a copy of that document. Well, he did not send me the weight. The office agreed to send it as soon as they knew it. Finally, after 3 days of constant arguments and discussions they assured that they were going to email me the before and after weights. I never received that email and the person in the office who had promised to email me later confessed he did not know why it was never emailed since he had left instructions for others to do so! Later "one of those others" mentioned that the driver who will deliver the stuff will be handing the details of the weight over to me and he never did so! They increased the weight of the shipment from 2000 to 2360 lbs. so that was an additional $198.00.
As a great remedy to the problem of extra charges, they came up with the great news that the manager was giving me a 50% discount on the $1100 bringing it down to near $550 for packing material when what I had agreed to was $100 and the total shipment cost was over $600 to what I had agreed. I was threatened that my stuff would be auctioned if I did not pay up the 60% by check or cashier’s check and that they would not accept any credit card payment though the contract stated that 60% could be paid by major credit cards. After days of arguments, sleepless nights, hotel bills, threats of my case going for collection and consequences, absence of manager to talk to on phone, finally I agreed to pay an overall increase of $500 from the initial quote. I was made to pay 60% of that by check.
That was, however, not the end of the story. The day of delivery my stuff did not arrive, and at 8 pm at night I was told the truck was still 40 miles away. When I refused accepting shipment at that time of the night I was threatened that if I did not receive the shipment that night, I would have to pay for overnight charges. If not, I would have to allow shipment at 5 am in the morning. Any delay would be charged at the rate of $145/hour. When I mentioned that there were rules in my apartment, I would have to pay for extra charges by hour at $145/hour.
I had waited a full day for the shipment to arrive and taken time off from work to be there to receive it. However, that was not of any consequence! To top it all, after having paid extra for packing so that my furniture would be protected from damage, my desk is broken despite my paying for the extra packing material. One suitcase full of clothes and personal belongings is missing. A bed frame is broken. Lamps are scratched and dented. Screws are missing and I am awaiting another drama with reclamation.
The company and agents will run the show and make life difficult for you from the time you sign the contract. I had sleepless nights and had been reduced to state of tears by the constant mental agony and stress imposed by the company. The following are the consequences: broken desk, $80.00; lost suitcase plus personal belongings, $90 plus $300 (not accounting for objects of emotional value); broken queen bed frame, $30; extra charges over quote added by AVL, $500; new furniture expenses (due to disposal of old ones to reduce packing charges), $500; and hotel charges incurred due to unavailability of living items, $450.

I hired Atlas Van Lines to facilitate a local move on 11/21. The drivers showed up late, did not follow direction, moved extremely slow and the foreman was constantly on the phone. I hired the company for three hours, so every minute was precious to me. I prepared for the move by putting a large amount of the boxes outside and the remainder in the front room by the door. Everything was labeled and ready to go. I was in another room getting some things together when the foreman asked me to enter the room he was working in. He put shrink wrap around my couches, cushioned ottoman table and side table, and bookcase. He then proceeded to tell me how much each item cost for wrapping. I did not authorize him to wrap these items and nowhere in my contract did it state that these items needed to be wrapped.
I asked the foreman to continue with loading the truck and to not wrap any other items without my consent. I left the room and called the company to inquire about the items the foreman was wrapping. The dispatcher told me that these items needed to be wrapped to go on the truck even though the contract did not state that. When I re-entered the room, the foreman had wrapped a dresser and several other items. At this point, two of my three hours had been used and not even one of my things were in the truck. I asked them to please pack the items they had prepped and leave the rest so that we could go to the other location before my time ran out. They slowly put the items in the truck and then proceeded to sit there for 15 minutes doing who knows what. Finally, we reached the new location and the foreman presented me with the bill. He said they would not unload the items until I paid them in full.
To my surprise, the bill went from the $223.20 I was quoted to $628.77. He then proceeded to tell me I had to pay in cash. I was very upset and phoned the office to inquire why the bill was so high and why the foreman demanded cash when the contract did not state that, and they had my credit card number on file. The dispatcher was rude and hostile and said I had to pay in cash or they wouldn't release my items. I refused. I asked for a manager, but was told there wasn't one available to speak with since it was Saturday. I was told I had to wait until Monday. I reluctantly agreed to pay the amount and speak to the manager on Monday since I didn't have much of a choice. I had to get my things and felt threatened by the company so I agreed to pay the outrageous amount and figured I would speak with the manager on Monday for my refund.
Next, they demanded I pay the full amount in cash. Nowhere in my contract did it state I had to pay in cash and when reserving the company, I gave my credit card number over the phone. I was told I could pay by card, but the foreman supposedly did not have a slip to process the card. For the next hour, several calls were made from myself to the office and the manager to the foreman. They continued to demand cash and I continued to refuse. Finally, they conceded and used my credit card number on file and the foreman magically produced a credit card slip. When I received my receipt by email, another company's name was on it, Shamrock Van Lines. I have placed several calls to the company and no one had called me back. I plan to dispute this charge with my credit card company, but I feel like this company should have some sort of consequence for their actions. I would also like to help prevent this from happening to other people in the future.

Atlas Van Lines bait and switch - I was informed that the local move - two movers and full packing, loading truck, round trip point A-B, 5 free wardrobe boxes, free wrapping of furniture, minimum 5 hours, free stairs and long carry, 5% discount, plus packing supplies are extra if needed (items that must be packed in order to be transported safely are glass items, mirror, lamps, lamp shades, marble tops, pictures, mattresses, all electronic and all delicate fragile items) - would be $665. The night before, I received a call from a man, the supervisor, who said that one extra person would be better for my job at $10 extra. I agreed that $10 extra for minimum of 5 hours should be $50. They arrived at 10:15, and departed at 7:15. It was a big job for a one-bedroom move. They charged me $3500.
When I complained, they said if I paid cash, they would waive the $500 or they could leave the job. My choice. I decided not to pay cash. I even fed them. I've made several phone calls and I'm not getting my calls returned. I can understand even $1000 over the quote price or $1200, not what they charged. They won't return my calls. This is clearly against CA laws, what they did. To threaten to leave the job midway was the straw. A total of $1075 should have been charged (3 men for 9 hours), then plus the packing material to my calculations, $2425 worth of packing material was not used. I had 70 boxes that I packed myself.

On moving day they charged me approximately $3100. On August 27 Ms. R sent me a letter telling me that I owe them $1,172.43. She also stated that a fee will be added until the bill is paid. The inventory shown to me at delivery was very vague, including items like, clothes. After unpacking all boxes I found that all of my jewelry and jewelry boxes were missing. I filed a claim for the cost to replace all jewelry at $3,000.00. After two weeks, a claims representative named Brad called back and left a message saying to call him.
I called back and reached another representative who told me Brad was busy, but had denied my claim because I did not tell them my jewelry was missing at the time of delivery and that it was not noted on the inventory. Of course I could not note it on the inventory, because it was not on the inventory, and I could not even find out that the item was not on the inventory because they did not send us a copy of the inventory until 10/1/05. I told the claims representative that I did not recieve a copy of the inventory and she said he would consider that, but I never heard from then again. I would like to file a complaint against Atlas Van Lines because they lost all of my jewelry, did not inventory my items properly and refused my claim based on me not signing papers that I never had access to.
I would like other potential customers of this company to be aware that Atlas Van Lines may misplace expensive items and that the company does not honor their own warranties.

I took the service of Atlas Van Lines for moving my stuff from Tampa, FL to Atlanta, GA. They damaged my leather sofa and few other things and lost some valuables (most importantly, my coin collection). They used the same truck which they used to move my stuff to move somebody else's stuff. And while doing that, they messed up with some of my boxes - some of those boxes were open (no sign of taping) with no tags at all.
When I challenged the driver, he indicated that since the total number of boxes did not change, we have to accept it. Without the full details of the content of each box, we had no way to prove that some of our stuff was lost. The inventory list that the packers (employees of Atlas Van Lines) prepared while packing our stuff did not list all the items; and those dishonest people just took advantage of that. When I claimed for compensation of the damaged leather sofa, they simply said that damage was not caused by handling during the move. However at the time of delivery, the driver himself admitted that damage was caused by him and he even offered me some cash; but I did not accept it fearing that repair would cost more than what he was offering me. Without having any other recourse, I went for arbitration with National Arbitration Forum. The movers appointed their favored judge for my case and I could not win; on the contrary, I had to spent additional money to bear the expense of arbitration.
