Received two calls, two voicemails, and a text about a move. I asked them to stop calling me. He then proceeded to call me stupid. I have no idea why he decided to call me names, but I was not rude prior. I also received a call from a blocked number shortly after as well. Pretty creepy. I don't think this is how you should try to get new customers.

I got scammed by another moving company and booked Atlas just 4 days before my move. Jarla ** was tremendously helpful and I recommend her to everyone looking to move. The process was seamless. Although some of my items were damaged, the process to file a claim was easy and I am still waiting for that result. I do recommend Atlas as they are reputable. My elevator was even broken and the movers had to take 4 flights of steps up but they took it in stride. The companies Atlas contracts to are well known and reputable. I recommend Atlas and am so thankful for all of Jarla **' help!

Atlas Van Lines did a terrible job with our move. They did not box all of our household goods which I paid them to, they mixed our items with another move, damaged most of our furniture and lost several of our boxes during the move. They also charged us above the estimate they provided. Also, despite doing such a poor job with the move, their owner and management team will not return my calls and are trying to avoid accountability. Also, despite $10,000 in damage they caused, their Claims team is trying to say they are not responsible for lost boxes and are only offering $400 for our trouble. Atlas Van Lines is not reputable or honest. As such, I would avoid them like the plague. Btw, Atlas left me with boxes and shelves from someone else's move when they delivered our things, and after 3 months have yet to get these items to the right owners. This company is irresponsible and unprofessional. One star is much too high a rating for them.

This company is one to avoid. I researched around 15 companies and did not have a good feeling about any of them. I chose this company because they had a good review on BBB. I told them the exact dates I needed regarding the delivery day. When they had us loaded up, the price all of a sudden increased three times to the original quote. The day of deliver was 5 days earlier. I had two cars to get cross country so this made it very difficult on the drivers. I had to leave them halfway to fly out and unload the truck myself. A few items did not make it. An oriental cabinet and my daughter's lap top.
At the destination some men were hired locally to unload the truck but a few hours in they all left me saying they were not paid to stay any longer. My items were left in the driveway and I had to move them in myself. I submitted claims regarding my lost items but never heard back from this company. Stay away from Atlas, sorry to say. I learned the hard way. Next move will be with a suitcase only!!

We filed a claim for just one item that they destroyed (a $151 stainless large trash can), a very insignificant amount compared to the $8400 we paid for the move. When our household goods were delivered, even the unloaders and the truck driver were in disbelief how that items could have been left without wrapping and just thrown in with the furniture. The item arrived dented and destroyed and even they advised me to claim it. Well, Atlas said they would only pay $12 for clearly something they destroyed without question. The claims person told me that unless we purchased insurance they would not cover it. What kind of moving company does that? I will never use them again nor will I ever recommend them to anyone and I hope those reading this will think twice before enlisting their services. They will not own up to their mistakes, they simply do not care. We used United Van Lines two years ago and they were wonderful, Atlas is a disappointment.

I bought FULL value moving insurance. I paid $12,000 for the move. I paid $250 for a special TV crate. The movers barely had room in their truck. My items were stuffed into every corner of their truck including being disassembled to be put in the underbelly. I unpacked my TV and found the screen completely cracked on the inside. They denied my claim on the basis of "They did not unpack and hang the tv. The outer box was not visibly damaged. The exterior of the TV was not physically damaged." So I am out a $2200 TV despite having done everything they told me to do correctly.
Also on the final walk through, they had a guy lean up against a wall to cover where it had been scratched in the move. So I signed off that my place had no physical damage. Later I found lamps cross threaded, bed backboard was missing all bolts and was just leaned up in place on the posts. It fell on me when I made the bed. Thieves and liars. They are rip off artists!

It took an extra day for the team members to pack my house. When they arrived at the destination, everything was total chaos. A team was at my new house for six hours and told me they were being paid by the hour and not the job, and told to expedite the offloading. Within a day, I started the daunting task of unpacking. The first thing I would suggest to anybody using a moving company is to insist that the inventory sheets are marked off as the boxes and furniture are moved INTO your new home or residence regardless of how much time it takes. I have unpacked every single box and can attest that there are so many things missing, I am heartsick.
Yes, I contacted the family that purchased my home, the people who cleaned it and my son who was at the house when the movers left, and they too found nothing other than items I intentionally left in the house. I found large and heavy boxes, with boxes inside that were packed with paper, and nothing else. I found kitchen pictures and knick-knacks mixed in with garage stuff, not wrapped and laid inside plant pots. In my new home, a hallway corner and wall were damaged. The underside fabric of my sofa was cut out exposing the springs. The hinges on a fire-door from the house to the garage were reinstalled improperly and the door does not close properly.
The mirror on a large bedroom dresser was installed and tipping forward, and I subsequently discovered that the wrong screws were used to attach it. I hired a local mover to rearrange the bedroom furniture and reattach the dresser mirror properly. I received several very large boxes of goods and a cabinet that were not supposed to be moved, but left at the house I was leaving. The cabinet was broken too. I filed a claim electronically on 06/29/2022. Their insurance adjustor in the state I left offered a partial settlement in July, and acknowledged that the remaining claim was under review in the Atlas home office. He also indicated that there was a backlog due to the number of pending claims. The Atlas PORTAL states the remaining claim is under review and to contact the person in the state that I left. He cannot get an update, nor can I.
Nearly two months later I am stuck in the middle with no way to get a resolution. How do they get away with this? A simple message that the claim in under review with an estimated completion date would be appreciated, but no one is available by phone. Atlas is mistaken if it thinks I will give up. I paid Atlas more than $15,000 !!! in good faith to move me and depended on them to do their job. I think Atlas should be made to pay me and other consumers interest on monies owed, past a 60 day window of claim initiation.

Contracted for pickup in Great Falls and delivery in Woodland Park, CO by July 7, 2022. Picked up on time but have failed to deliver our belongings. Keep saying they can't find a driver. They had weeks to find a driver after giving the estimate for the move. Gave another date of delivery between July 8-18. July 18 they have stated they have moved our belongings from the warehouse to a trailer but still don't have a driver. What difference does it make if it's in a trailer if you still can't/won't deliver? Only after failing to deliver on the first contracted date did they say they don't move interstate and it is corporate's responsibility to find a driver! Have contacted Atlas Van Lines repeatedly and given the same run around. They have reneged on their contract twice. DO NOT TRUST THEM!

We moved from Florida to Pacific North West and used Atlas Van Lines as our moving company. We had bought Full Value Protection. To Atlas' credit, they came on time and arrived on time. But, 80% of my rosewood furniture that was disassembled, packed, loaded, moved, unloaded, unpacked were damaged, some of them are bad beyond repair and few hardware and parts were lost including the ones for our bed. We are dismayed that, Atlas rep had agreed to take special care like antique while packing and handling. The unpackers blamed it on the packers, but I think that is a normal practice to blame. Irrespective of who is to be blamed, the customer is the sore losers. I filed a claims. The replacement value of all the items are in excess of $51,000. Atlas sent a guy for evaluation and the same person is supposed to repair the furniture. We asked for at least five items that are broken to be replaced. But, Atlas is hell bent on repairing.
When I asked about warranty, neither Atlas nor the repairing vendor will provide warranty. Atlas' response is "it is not a good". It seems Atlas doesn't understand the concept of service warranty. The settlement cost Atlas is willing to pay is less than 15% of the replacement value. I will not use nor will ever use this company. The best part is the CEO of the company is afraid of receiving emails and my email to him was rejected. This should give an indication of the company's attitude towards "customer service".

Atlas Van Lines made a mess out of my move to Belgium. They didn't know the laws, they didn't inform me properly. They were extremely late in delivering my goods which were picked up on Aug 6 and delivered Jan 27! They gave me the wrong tracking # of the vessel which gave the wrong arrival to port dates, dates based on which I flew several times to Belgium to receive the shipment for nothing! I had to rent an apartment, buy warmer clothes.
Atlas' claim department ignored me 100%. Atlas didn't know where my container was, but didn't communicate with me. They shipped to Holland instead of Antwerp, Belgium, and the Belgian authorities and the Dutch relocation company made a mess out of my move too. All because Atlas didn't know the requirements and didn't communicate with me prior to the move. In the end I ended up having to pay an extra 3000 euros ransom, as my furniture was being held hostage. Pay 3000 and have it delivered or keep it in port and I would have to pay storage. Atlas has been silent throughout the entire process. Awful service!

This was by far the worst move I have had. I have moved 6 times around the globe and Atlas is the least responsible and least responsive moving company I have ever dealt with. I will never consider them again. This was a corporate sponsored move so I had no choice of company. From the beginning, they did not respond to calls or emails and lacked any attention to detail. What was a 25 day move window became 4 months after part of our shipment was lost. My son's crib did not arrive in the initial shipment and I had to plead for a replacement which was never compensated. They broke over 40 items and only covered a third.
Excuses every day and at least a week to respond to any communication. They broke our Peloton bike and sent a furniture repair guy to inspect it who said it was fine. Expert in bikes I would say. At the end of the day, it was the customer service that put the nail in the coffin. They defected and made excuses and pointed fingers and never once acted like a company who moves people for a living.

Updated on 03/11/2022: Atlas Van Lines provided one of the worst experiences I have had, ever. A cross-country move for a 4 bedroom home cost $16300, took 25 days, and results in multiple broken items. The company's communication is near non-existent, until they are attempting to collect payment. Your move is NOT INSURED for broken items, unless you want to pay additional (over the $16k). Without paying additional large fees, you will receive $0.60 per pound of items broken, a ridiculous figure. If they break a $500 vase that weighs 3 pounds, you will receive $1.80. This is absolute insanity. They will intentionally quote you less than the final cost. Ours was underquoted by over $4000. Note, the reviews on their website are hand-selected, as they do not have an open review policy. Truly one of the worst companies I have ever encountered.
Original Review: Really one of the worst experiences with any business I have ever had. We did a cross country move for a 3 bedroom house with a Bouch moving, who contract with Atlas. Here are the numbers:
- 3 bedroom house (no couches, no dining room table, no dining room chairs, 1 bed, 1 baby grand piano (about 500 lbs), 1 washer/1 dryer, no other appliances, lots of other stuff)- Cost: $16,300
- Days to deliver: 25 (didn't even get picked up for 14 days)
- Calls from Atlas to update us: 0
Absolutely horrendous experience. The only calls we received for updates were from the driver's wife, the first about 22 days after our stuff was picked up. I highly recommend using another service for a cross country move.

My father is retired Air Force so I grew up moving around the USA. I remember Atlas being one of the companies that we used so I thought we would use them this time. They were one of the 3 companies we called to get a quote. My husband and I have also moved 9 times in 24 years so are quite familiar with the moving process. Our items were mostly going into storage. Every other company that has ever moved us has wrapped some of the furniture in stretch wrap to protect from stains as well as to keep shelves with small bookcases. They also use wrap to keep cardboard in front of glass doors on a tv stand, etc. Atlas didn’t have any and didn’t seem to know how to use wrap at all.
Since our items were going into storage we expected the movers to protect the furniture in some manner (they certainly were not going to donate the blankets and in the past movers had used the clear stretch wrap to do so). I mentioned this several times and was Ignored and dismissed. My TV stand glass doors were completely exposed so anything in our storage unit could damage them. As a customer hiring a professional company I shouldn’t have to wrap this myself.
Our driver also got into several arguments with us. We also had a BINDING contract to not exceed a certain amount even if the load was more. A risk they knew they were taking when they chose to make it binding. When we got to the storage units they REFUSED to unload until we contacted the office since the truck was significantly over what the atlas employee had estimated. It took more than an hour to start the unload and finally set that straight. In mine and my husband's experience this was the worst company and we should’ve chosen one of the other 2 for this move. We will NEVER use Atlas again.

This company moved me across country. The driver didn’t handle a crate, especially marked for proper handling, correctly. So, my sculpture arrived broken. The company is non responsive to this damaged piece. Also one package of art pieces is missing. I will admit I was remiss is checking off each package unloaded. But as I finished unpacking over the weekend I realize this package was missing. Nonresponsive. The driver was definitely in a hurry to leave the area and simply said sign here. Unfortunately, this items not only have a monetary value but these pieces are gifts from my deceased husband. I do NOT recommend this company for honesty and integrity!

My husband had no choice but to use Atlas due to the arrangements made for him through the company that he was hired by. They came and packed our things on the day expected and on time so that is probably where the one star applies. Our items arrived at our new home almost 3 weeks later. During the process, we received no updates apart from what we made efforts to receive for ourselves by reaching out to the agent assigned to us. She rarely answered the phone and seemed to only respond through email or after we had to call someone else and complain that we hadn't heard from her regarding our things. When our things finally arrived, one of the workers said that he had tried calling us the day before but we had no messages or anything indicating that that was true. They were friendly in delivering our things and placing them where we wanted.
However as expected after reading through reviews while we were waiting for our things, some of our things did arrive damaged and no longer usable and we did have things missing. The workers that arrived were on their way to Georgia after unpacking our things so they did not go through the itemized list with us as indicated would be the case when we first signed the paperwork. We discovered missing items after unpacking ourselves. Overall, we are glad that our things did arrive and that most of it was in the condition that we left it in but the service and customer experience was terribly poor.

We moved across the country last month and entrusted our household goods to Atlas Van Lines. The unloading contractors were great. The packers and loaders, on the other hand, not so much. Many items arrived broken and damaged due to complete negligence during the packing process. One box in particular had our office printer on the bottom with bathroom chemicals piled on top, loose light bulbs, and our candlestick lamps thrown on top with no protection. The guys who unloaded just kept remarking about what a subpar job the packers did.
The worst part is that they stole my gun from my safe. They left the original box the gun came in so I did not notice it until a couple weeks later. Apparently Sentry Safes are made to be fireproof and not necessarily burglar proof. Hindsight being 20/20 I now know the lock can be picked in minutes. I reported the theft to the police immediately. However, Atlas refuses to acknowledge or compensate me for this theft because it was not inventoried separately. Although, a lot of things were not inventoried individually like my jewelry in a jewelry box, for example. Terrible experience. We have moved many times without incident. Do not use Atlas Van Lines.

The crew and drivers who handled the packing, loading, and unloading were great. While friendly, the contact at Atlas was incompetent. Throughout the process she provided inaccurate, incomplete, or incorrect information -- this included a low weight estimate (resulting in a higher than expected cost), surprise need for crating on day of move (resulting in a higher than expected cost), incorrect updates on delivery day, short noticed cancellation for delivery, etc. When I tried to discuss this with Atlas management, the contact was unable to hear my concerns and was rude (cursed at me), dismissive, and uninterested in truly resolving the situation. This was my third time using Atlas, and unfortunately, it will be my last--the first two jobs were great, but clearly they've experienced a decline in quality of service. I would strongly recommend finding a moving company other than Atlas.

Atlas was hired to move us from Seattle to Bend, OR with 3-weeks lead time and we were assured a specific move date. Atlas did not respond to any questions after our initial deposit payment (e.g.: what time will the crew show up?, will they have wardrobe or TV boxes ?, is this a one-day or two-day move?, etc.) and changed our specific move date to a 3-day window. Atlas then TWICE changed their own 3-day window, including the morning of our move! We fired Atlas on the spot that morning as we needed to move that day and had twice inconvenienced the new owners with our fluctuating schedule. I used Atlas Van Lines in April 2021 for a small move from NYC to Denver. The Atlas estimator came to my apartment and saw every item that I was taking on my move. At the time, I asked him for a binding agreement to which he replied that Atlas can do a binding contract. The weight estimate was effectively 1000 pounds. My moved was subbed out to one of Atlas's smaller regional moving groups and they never relayed that I wanted a binding agreement. When I received my items in Denver, the weight was 1600 pounds more than their estimate. I opened an overage claim stating that their estimate was grossly under reality and that I had asked for a binding agreement but never got one from their regional moving company. Their response was essentially that there was nothing they could do and I was billed about 60% more than their original quote.

I had checked the BBB and the complaints database at FMCSA and they had a fewer complaints than others. However, you can see from these reviews and comments on their Facebook page, they do not fulfill their contract. Whatever you do, do NOT use this service. We had our stuff moved out of our home in Austin, TX on June 11. They assured us that our stuff would arrive at the ABSOLUTE LATEST of June 23. The day I'm writing this, it is June 28 and they are saying it may be another 2+ weeks before we get our things. That means that they will potentially be OVER A MONTH AFTER THEIR LATEST DATE when they finally get our things here. Right now, our ENTIRE HOUSE is sitting in a warehouse back in TX while we are sitting in an empty house in MD.
APPARENTLY, there's a TX driver shortage. They knew this when they gave us our timeline. It has impacted both my work and my husband's work in SEVERE ways. We have bounced between 6 different hotels just trying to stay in a bed instead of sleeping on the ground in an empty house. We've called and begged for them to PLEASE just DELIVER OUR THINGS. But all they can tell us is that there's NO TIMELINE FOR WHEN OUR STUFF WILL BE ON A TRUCK.
They are in violation of their contract, unwilling to help, and essentially torturing us. WE JUST WANT OUR THINGS. We are at our wit's end and don't know what to do. If I could give a lower rating, I would - that's how terrible this entire experience has been. We REGRET using this service so much. PLEASE save yourself the sheer stress and unhappiness this horrible company has caused. We've filed a BBB complaint and frankly, we're willing to take this further if necessary. They've, in essence, stolen from us and are now holding our items hostage.

I definitely feel like I’ve been scammed by Atlas. I’m moving from Oregon to Texas so I had to go through Atlas in Indiana - Shetler moving. Initially they communicate well and make you feel comfortable about the process. However, once my stuff was picked up, I’ve received horrible customer service and been charged thousands of dollars in surprise charges. I was quoted a price of $6500 for a 1 bedroom apartment that they would pack - which is average from my research.
Then on moving day they claimed that they didn’t know they were supposed to pack my stuff. Even though there are packing charges on the quote and they had me reserve the loading dock at my apartment for 6 hours. Perfect amount of time to pack up a 1 bedroom and load it onto the truck. Excessive if you really think I’m going to have everything packed. Of course that would cost me about $2k more and I was in no position to decline since this was discovered on the day that I had to be out of my apartment. Classic bait and switch operation. My final quote included lots of hidden fees and totaled $10,500. I was told that they saved me money by just charging me a full pack and not a custom pack. I argued that nothing was custom packed and they said custom pack refers to a partial pack. So apparently somehow a partial pack costs more than a full pack. What a scam.
Next is delivery. I still don’t have my things. They give you a 3 week window for delivery time and at the very end of my 3 week window is when I start my new job. I asked if there was any way I could get it before the end of the window. I was told that they most likely could get me my stuff within 2 weeks and it shouldn’t be a problem. Of course this was a lie and I’ll be at work on the delivery date. I asked what my options were and basically they will not work with you at all for delivery. I was told that I will have to put my stuff in storage and pay weekend overtime charges for a weekend delivery. This will cost me over $2500.
So now I’m up to $13000 and I still don’t have my stuff. I was told that they could try and delay delivery for a few hours until I return home from work, but they would have to “beg the driver” to do so and it would still cost me $500. Never heard of a moving company who has to bribe their own drivers with their customer’s money. How shady can you get?
I’ve sent numerous emails and called multiple times just to get updates on things. No one actually tells the truth. Eventually I contacted the 3rd party company doing the moving myself just to get truthful answers - essentially doing Shetler’s job for them. I even was transferred to Bob Shetler himself and left him a voicemail. My call hasn’t been returned and it’s been 2 weeks. Although at this point I’d expect nothing less from this sketchy company he’s running. The saddest part is that they have the BBB stamp on their website. I have to wonder who they bribed to get that... If you enjoy being ripped off and getting zero customer service then by all means use Shetler moving. Otherwise stay very far away.
