    Instead of using the insurance provided by the cruises we take, we usually try to find our own because I feel like they’d be for us instead of for the cruise line. Trip Insurance usually gives several options like good, better, best and so we get to choose which ones of those I believe fits our class. I've called and talked to some of their reps and they were helpful. Their customer service reps were good, answered our questions at least, and told us to call back anytime. Their prices, compared to others, are within the range of what we look for. Sometimes, the cruise lines or the travel places we've used don’t cover quite as much as what we can get with Trip Insurance.

    I do a lot of traveling and I always worry about some accident happening in some foreign country. So I want the evacuation types of things. I googled for trip insurance and ended up with Tripinsurance.com. I liked their website and what they had to say. I called their customer service, talked to them about it and they were very helpful.     We worry about something happening to us before the trip and having to cancel. I did a quick review and comparison of travel insurance providers and, although it wasn't a detailed investigation, TripInsurance's travel insurance fits our needs and was reasonably priced.     I’ve been using Tripinsurance for a long time. Last time I got sick a week before my scheduled cruise and I had to cancel it. I called the insurance and asked them what I should do, and they said I need a doctor and report. So I went to the doctor, and I got the forms, filled them out, and sent them all in. I filed it the 30th of March and Tripinsurance got all the paperwork April 7th. And I called and they said that they were going to be making a decision last Friday. I haven’t heard anything yet, but I figure I’d give it a week or 10 days and see, give them a call and see what’s going on. The people that I talked to were extremely helpful and very informative, and my overall experience was really easy.

    I always used to buy travel insurance through the airlines but then, I found through a friend that Trip Insurance could be a better choice so I went with them. I have used them about seven times in the last couple of years because I’ve done a lot of traveling with my family and I found it very easy to use when buying an insurance. When I was comparing quotes and features their price seemed to be competitive. I was very happy buying it but now I'm questioning myself. Service isn’t as good as it could be.

I had to make several phone calls, and when I called the service number for claim, I get the music and I always have to wait for service. It’s not as easy as it used to be. I had to put in a lot of effort to follow through. Just today, I found out what the reimbursement is going to be, and it looks like I have to file a claim or appeal for one of the items. And so, it remains to be seen. And again, this is another step, another time on my part to go through it.

    With TripInsurance, I like the convenience of doing the registration online and then calling them to confirm and finalizing it. I prefer to work with somebody that I'm actually talking to than to book something online if I'm not clear on it. Calling in just makes it easier for me. It was originally recommended to me by my travel agent, who also helped me pick the right policy for me. I had tried AAA and their rates were much higher and compared to TripInsurance, I don’t think AAA's coverage was any better.

    I utilized TripInsurance's complimentary 24/7 e-travel alert but I only used them for two trips. Maybe I did it wrong but as soon as I booked the trip, there was bad weather in the area even though I wasn’t there yet. I would get the weather alerts and everything so I quit using it. I've used TripInsurance a few times and I would be using them again shortly.

    The travel insurance covers the cost of the insurance and also the medical particularly when a person is going out of the country. I looked at five or six comparisons and went with the one that met our needs. Tripinsurance had a whole bunch of providers and I could look at all of them. A couple of interactions with customer service were on cruises and the price went down afterwards. One cruise went down by a thousand dollars, so I had to call. I called and I said, "listen, the price of this cruise went down a thousand dollars. What do we do about the insurance?" They said that I'll get a refund and the difference was $300 or $400 on it. So, I had a good interaction with the rep. We have another trip next January and I'll be insuring that through them.

    I was worried about whether we needed medical coverage or anything of that nature, and since Tripinsurance was recommended by the Cruise Radio Podcast and the rates seemed to be a little bit cheaper, we purchased from them. Their website was pretty easy to understand, but I would like to make one comment as to how they could improve it. If they could set up a username and password, I wouldn't have to reenter all my personal information every time I take a trip. That would speed up the process.

    The prices were very affordable for Tripinsurance.com. It was very easy to get and got all my papers right away. I would recommend them but the only issue I can’t be 100% sure is because I didn’t have to use the insurance. So I don’t know how they deal though I wish I had the time to have done with them again on my recent trip because I’m having issues. But it was a last minute trip and when I purchased the tickets, I just did whatever the airline offered which was the biggest mistake.

    My husband spent quite a lot of time researching on various trip insurance companies and Tripinsurance.com had what seemed like the best deal with the most coverage. That was important because we can get coverage through our Visa credit card. When we went to Europe, we used TripInsurance and it was fine. Luckily I never had a claim. But it was useful because they sent us alerts all the time and their alerts seemed to be specific for our destinations. We went to a variety of different countries last December and they were capital cities of Europe, so it was high alert time.

    Every time we go on a big trip like that, we spend so much money on the plane ticket. And then I had to pay for all my Airbnbs and hotels ahead of time so if we had been held up, we could have lost money for sure. And there was a recent terrorist attack so that was definitely a questionable time. With the trip insurance that we bought, we were covered for medical as well as flights or any kind of missed connections, so that was good. But Tripinsurance doesn’t help you if you have a claim while you’re over there, and it was really limited as far as medical insurance. But overall, it was a good value for the money.

    Dealing with tripinsurance.com was a very unpleasant experience - one I plan to never repeat. Because of illness my husband and I were forced to cancel a trip we had insured with tripinsurance.com. We filed a valid and fully documented claim which we had every reason to expect to be promptly processed. Every time I called to check on the status of the claim I heard a series of weak and vague excuses - "It's being reviewed", "We're very busy right now", "Your file is on the top", "Maybe next week." Finally I became convinced that tripinsurance.com was stalling simply because they did not want to pay the claim.

    It appears I was probably right because after hearing yet another preposterous excuse I expressed my frustration and anger and said it was time to involve my attorney. Suddenly all the issues evaporated and the claim was approved that afternoon. Tripinsurance.com received our claim on October 6, 2015 and we did not receive payment until January 2, 2016. Almost three full months! And at no time was there any question about the validity of the claim or requests for additional documentation. How long much longer would we have had to wait if I had not threatened legal action? So yes, we did get our money, but no, we will never again do business with this company. I refuse to support an organization like this.

    The departure date of our trip was 8/3/2015 and the return date was 8/14/2015. On the Purchase Confirmation/Declarations issued by the United Fire Insurance Company, the trip dates covered in the plan are 8/3/2015 to 8/14/2015. Our returning flight home on 8/14/2015 was being delayed by the airline for more than 12 hours. We were rescheduled by the airline to the next available flight out home on 8/15/2015. While being stranded at the airport, we had incurred expense for meals. United States Fire Insurance Company denied our Travel Delay Claim for additional meal expenses on the reason that the meal expenses incurred for 8/14 and 8/15 are not covered. We do not understand why it is so since 8/14/2015 is part of the trip dates and for 8/15/2015, we were still in travel status due to the delay caused by the airline. We feel our claim has been improperly denied.

    I searched the internet for good coverage at a good price and found TripInsurance.com. My wife and I used them twice before and never had the need to file a claim; this last trip we did. We missed a flight connection and arrived a day late at our destination. We had booked a non-refundable room rate and were charged for the unused night.

    Upon our return home I contacted TripInsurance and talked to a rep who took my information and sent me the correct forms to fill out. I contacted them again to make sure I had all my forms filled correctly and the correct receipts. Unlike a travel insurance company I used previously that told me not to highlight anything and do not enter any extra explanations, the rep at TripInsurance encouraged me to highlight and add explanations to help them process the claim faster and more efficiently.     I bought TripInsurance for my father for his travel. They list off things much more precise and have a good summary up front. This is the first time I'm using or buying it and I hope they don't do what my other insurance did. When I was on one of my trips, I was admitted to the hospital. When I came back, the insurance made me go through my work and made sure my work is not covering when I’m overseas. Then, they will pay and it took six months. By the time I got my insurance, they go “your thing expired.”

    Dealing with Trip Insurance customer team: I have no complaints. However choice of insurance providers leave HUGE margin to what can be expected when claims are submitted. Unfortunately, customer service, which represents specific insurance provider is always unresponsive, to the point, you can never get them to respond to your inquiries or answer in timely matter. It's hugely disappointing, as apparently using "middle man" like Trip Insurance gives providers excuse of treating you - not as customer, only like a bank providing money to purchase insurance. When it comes to pay outs it looks like it is almost impossible task to reason with selected insurance providers, as they try to juggle policy wording left and right not to pay your claim money. Therefore I would have to discourage anyone who is thinking about purchasing insurance through this website to become a "valued customer". Guarantee is: you definitely won't be valued in any way.

That statement reads as though I would be eligible to the amount of coverage. 2) There will be no coverage for Any Reason Benefit. If there is no coverage for any reason, what is it you are selling and why should I buy it? I think your stated terms are misleading and I would not advise anybody to purchase your insurance.

    I realize how frustrating it is to have to cancel your vacation in the last minute and expect that your travel insurance will cover the cost of that cancellation only to have the claim denied. I agree with you that all travel insurance buyers should read their policy to know what is covered in their plan, and I am sorry that you misunderstood the provisions of the plan.

    As your insurance agent, I checked with the underwriter to see why the insurance company denied your cancel for any reason claim. One reason for the denial was that you cancelled the day before your trip. All our plans state that you must cancel at least 2 days before departure to take advantage of the Cancel for Any Reason benefit. This is stated on our website in the full description of all our plans, as well as on the certificate of coverage. This is an industry standard provision on plans that include cancel for any reason.

    The second problem is that you did not insure the entire cost of your trip that is subject to cancellation penalties. This is a requirement for every plan sold in the industry that includes cancel for any reason. I realize that you may not have known all the trip costs when you booked your vacation and bought the insurance. This is why we make it easy to modify your trip cost by calling our customer service department. If there is additional premium you just pay the difference.

    The reason the insurance companies require you to declare a trip cost of 100% of the trip expenses that are subject to cancellation penalties, is to avoid having people under insure this portion of the policy. Some people try to game the system, and try various trip costs in their quotes to find that if they reduce their trip costs, they can pay much less for the policy. The high risk of someone just changing their mind and deciding not to go on the trip is expensive to insure and the insurance companies rely on people insuring the entire trip cost to be able to afford to offer this feature. I realize that you would have settled for a claim based on a declared trip cost of $2,200. They would have adjusted what was paid if you had to cancel for a covered reason like a medical problem, but for a cancel for any reason claim, they are very strict on requiring 100% of the trip costs declared. Again your trip cost can always be adjusted after you buy the policy.

    I sent all of the information needed to file a claim in August. They asked for more information more than a month later. I provided that information within two days. That was two weeks ago. Today I got the same post card I got from the company shortly after submitting my claim: they acknowledged receiving the claim and said I'd hear from them soon. It's now two months. My husband is still under a doctor's care and had to take more tests at Cleveland Clinic this week. The Clinic has a paper trail a mile long beginning with a very clear letter from his cardiologist saying he could not travel. Two months later I am still waiting to receive about $9,000 that I paid out for the trip, all of the details documented. I'm disappointed in this slow customer service.

Your company received my claim on 8/12/15 and I called many times to find out the progress until to be told that it was still in review. I contacted the Better Business Bureau in October to file a complaint against your company and never did receive a call from a supervisor that I requested three times. The BBB sent you my complaint and I finally received my checks on wed. 10/14. I will never use your company again for trip insurance since your company does not believe in customer satisfaction.

The complaint you filed with the Better Business Bureau was with US Fire’s claims processing.

    We gave their head of claims a call, and asked the status on the claim to see if it could be expedited. They told us that unfortunately they have had an unusually high number of claims that caused a brief processing delay. In addition they had to contact your airline for verification of the claim. They apologized for the delay and said they mailed your payment.

    We have been working closely with US Fire to understand the coverage on a section of your claim for baggage coverage through AMEX, and it looks like that portion could be refunded by AMEX directly.

    A leg of our trip USA to Tanzania was cancelled by Qatar Airlines. The alternate flight offered between Hamad and Kilimanjaro airports would have put us in a day late for our safari, which we had scheduled last year. Had this cancellation occurred in route, then the insurance company would have covered the lost day of your safari and any covered costs to get you to, or to catch up with your safari. Because your change in booking happened before you started your vacation, the extra expense is generally not covered. Had Qatar Airlines not informed you, and you discovered this in route, the itinerary change probably would have been covered.

    We have asked our underwriters to consider adding a competitive feature in the future that could protect travelers against the risks of last minute travel schedule changes.
