I have been a Farmers customer for several years with no complaints. I have a perfect traffic abstract with no incidents of any sort. I retired 2 years ago and began a second career as a farmer and recently purchased a truck for that purpose. I called Farmers for a quote and was informed that they don't do business insurance and that they wouldn't cover me if I registered the truck under my company's name. So I registered the truck under my own name and applied online for coverage. The local agent who had spoken to me initially called me the following day to inform me that the company will not be renewing my policy because the truck is used for business purposes. I explained that the truck is a dual purpose vehicle both for personal errands as well as for taking produce to the local farmers market. She insisted that it made no difference and that I will need to find coverage elsewhere.

I am flabbergasted that a company calling itself Farmers Insurance refuses to insure farm vehicles. For this company to brand itself as something that it clearly is not is an insult to the good name of farmers everywhere. Shame on you people. Please change your name immediately. If you have difficulty coming up with an alternative I have several suggestions for you.

Last year my car was stolen then recovered the same day. It took Farmers 2 months to get it fixed and back to me. It needed to be brought back here then a new transmission and an oil change. I was only given a month of partial rental car (15.00 a day). The communication was poor and I felt like I was kept out of the loop. After I finally got my car back, Farmers gave me a 6 month guarantee on any problems that might come up with the car. I was very unhappy with the company as well as the agent. His office was next to the restaurant that I work in. The day I called him to tell him that my car had been stolen he went over and told everyone what had happened. I was not a happy camper!

When the six month period ended I found another company to insure me. When I informed the agent's office that I was canceling my account I was told that I should never done that. I was also yelled at for this but it wasn't too bad. I continued to have my home insured through him in spite of some serious misgivings. Last week he came into the restaurant and grabbed some silverware to eat his take out meals with. He was rude enough that customers in the restaurant commented about his nasty attitude. That made my mind up and I cancelled my homeowner's insurance with Farmers the following day with one of his associates.

He came into the restaurant about 15 minutes later. He started screaming at me about how rude I was and how much he had done for me in getting me car taken care of.. He scared me to death. There were customers in the restaurant at that time but it didn't seem to bother him. Then he went back and started screaming at my boss. He lied about my service to his employees, said I complained about tips and anything else he could think to lie about. He was trying to get me fired.

My boss told me that I should not have conducted insurance business while I was working. I told her that I had cancelled my auto insurance 4 months ago. Once she calmed down she realized what he was trying to accomplish by having a screaming temper tantrum in her restaurant. She is now cancelling her policy through Farmers.

On a final note, in the past I was a victim of domestic violence. It took me a long time to get over it. Now I start shaking before I leave for work. It also took 4 hours for me to settle down after this incident. I still start shaking whenever I see him. I should never have been treated in this manner and neither should anyone else. Why is a man like this even working with the public?

I had an automobile insurance with Farmers insurance and the agency called Jila Badiei Insurance Agency Inc. It was a horrible experience. They were so unprofessional in handling customer service and claims. They failed to respond to any my queries in timely fashion and to provide me with the most primary services that an insurance agency is supposed to deliver. The agents were incompetent and ignorant. They lacked the information and training in order to offer solutions and customer service to insurance claims. Don't use their services if you value customer service and are shopping for a confident and supportive insurance.

Farmers Insurance has given me, a customer of 8 years, a 240% unjustified increase on my auto policy. DO NOT buy insurance from FARMERS or you will end up as another abused client. I used to drive a Honda Civic 2011 and up until May of 2013 my premium was $1660.00/year, approximately. Due to late payment the premium was cancelled, but reinstated in less than 24 hours. When reinstated, the agent (Mr. ** of Carlsbad, CA) made the decision to quote a rate of $15600.00/6 months, starting June of 2013. My new annual rate would be $3,120.00. Do not purchase insurance from Farmers. These practices have no consideration for the consumer and consumer needs. They actually take food from people's table.

My husband and I are over 50, no accidents, no tickets and no claims. I signed up with Farmers in 2012 after over 25 years with American Family and auto rates were quoted at $290.00 for 6 months. SAME vehicles, SAME drivers and driving records BUT 1 year later, rates I just paid $434.90 - REALLY?? I even called to remove a second vehicle we had comp only coverage on and decided we no longer wanted to have the vehicle. The rate would be an ADDITIONAL $150.00 for the 6 month premium if I had removed that car. So I kept the car on my policy and paid the $16 to save $150.00. My agent never calls back, never explains things when asked and can't answer why when asked specifics on things. The company is no better. Auto and home come up this summer, so I have 90 days to shop around before my homeowners bill is sent to my mortgage company - It's TIME FOR A CHANGE!

My wife had her car dented on the passenger side when this guy swung opened the door by parking real close. He gave her the insurance information to my wife to contact his insurance. He had Farmers insurance also as same with ours. She contacted the insurance and received the claim number. Then this insurance agent from Farmers (Debbie) calls back and tells my wife the claim is closed due to the fact that he denies it was his fault and there was no witnesses. My wife asked the insurance agent why would he give her the insurance information if nothing happened? The agent told my wife because it is his word against hers and that they have to protect their client. Well I have been with Farmers for over 12 years (building/home/autos) and pay over 15,000.00 a year for premium each year. Never had one claim all these years. I think it is about time to cancel and find a new one.

On 7/16/13, I leased a 2013 Prius which replaced a 2010 Prius because the lease was to terminate on 8/1. Through inadvertence on my part (family illness), I failed to report the change in vehicles to my agent within the 30 day reporting requirement found in the insurance contract. However, I continued to pay my premium on the 2010 Prius as well as 4 other cars that I have insured with Farmers. I have been insured with them for over 15 years and have always been current with my payments. I also have homeowners and renters insurance with them.

On 9/2, 2 weeks after the 30 day reporting requirement elapsed, my parked 2013 Prius was struck by a hit and run driver in front of my wife's store after hours. No one was in the car. I presented a property damage claim on 9/3 and was denied based on the contractual reporting requirement. Damage to the Prius was $5,706.86. My deductible is $1,000.00. My contention is that Farmers should pay for the damages minus my deductible. Based on the facts presented, it should be clear that I was not trying to avoid coverage on the new Prius as I continued making premium payments on all my cars including the 2010 Prius.

Farmers' conduct, in my opinion, is unconscionable and the company should be prevented from harming a long-time insured in good standing because of a minor mistake (inadvertence) which did not prejudice them in any way. This action is but another example of how these carriers take advantage of consumers, no matter how loyal, in order to avoid payment on a legitimate claim. This is the first time that I have been remiss in promptly reporting the purchase of a new car to may agent. But there were legitimate extenuating circumstances that were a distraction for a brief period and my premium payments were still being made, albeit on the 2010 instead of the 2013 Prius! I have filed a grievance with the California Insurance Department as well as the Better Business Bureau and will pursue all avenues for redress until this egregious behavior is corrected.

I was stopped at a stop sign, waiting to turn right out of a parking lot onto a main street, got rear ended by a 17-yr-old girl on her cell phone, 100% her fault. I got moderate whiplash and abdominal and back pain. I have reports from my Drs. and medical bills, that I did get hurt. Reported the accident to my and her insurance. The girl has Farmers. The claim adjuster I talked to knew I was hurt, But he denied my claim before paperwork and then I being hurt gathered all the paperwork and faxed it over to him, and denied me in just 1 day of getting it. So I reported it to state commissioner and Farmers denied it again.

I have talked to Farmers corp. claim office and denied it again. My medical bills went way down because my health ins. paid on them. So my husband talked to them to resolve it and denied again. Claim adjuster that took care of this was very upsetting to me ,stressed me out. Because I could not turn my head for a month, I could not drive or anything. Claim adjuster has lied numerous times to me. He told me we would settle this when I got to feeling better and it never happened. Offered me no pain and suffering and I owe some on medical still, and nothing on my medical. I cannot get better because I can't afford to go to my chiropractor twice a week. I am only going once in 3-week period. Still in pain, going to work everyday in pain.

Farmers only fixed my car. He told me that's only part of the settlement. I tried to get a lawyer. They all told me you have a case, but not enough money involved. So I cannot get any relief from Farmers at all. Farmers is horrible company. They lie, lie, lie to everyone.

After arriving in the United States from our honeymoon, we found our 2000 Saturn had been side swiped by another vehicle as the Saturn sat parked. Thankfully, our Farmers insurance stepped in and handled what seemed to be a huge task. I am extremely grateful for all the help and attention to my concerns that Farmers Insurance handled.

Unfortunately, someone made the call to have my vehicle towed out of town without my consent, during the process of handling my claim. Once this happened, my vehicle's belonging were removed by someone who had custody of my vehicle at that time. I am told that once the call, to have the vehicle towed, happened it gave the tow company the right to those belongings. Regardless of all the details, it is clear that a mistake was made during the claims process. If it were possible to just call the tow driver and nicely ask to have the belongings returned then we would overlook the mistake and all the inconvenience, heartache, poor sleep and anxiety associated with this part of the claim. Of course, it appears that is not happening and now we must look to the individual who took it upon themselves to make the call to have the vehicle towed and hold them responsible. So to the best of my ability, I will provide a list of items that were inside the vehicle for the Farmers agent to better handle this part of the claim.

I am content working with Farmers insurance, but am feeling like this part of the claim is moving very slowly with regard to someone taking responsibility for their actions. If Farmers and myself are unable to come to an agreement then perhaps it is best if I hire a legal representative to assist me with this process. I feel this way because of the recent uncertainty and finger pointing involved with the miscommunication between Farmers Insurance and said parties resulting in the 2000 Saturn and its belongings being towed out of town.

I am writing this for my Mom who is over 80 years old and does not even know how to turn on a computer. My Dad, her husband, passed away eleven years ago and is the one who went with Farmers. His car was a 1998 Buick Regal and he put about 35,000 miles on it in the four years he was still alive. In the eleven years since then the car has had only seven thousand miles added. In every opportunity we have had, we have told Farmers that my Mom does not drive and I drive her twice a week about one mile to the store and back. We have told them that annually the car is driven less than 500 miles.

Well, my Mom just received another "mileage Verification" letter telling her that her rates would be affected if she does not respond. Now the part that is making us mad is that they list the mileage of the past year as 7,500 miles and that they estimate her driving 13,000 miles in the next year! This is absolutely criminal to try to say a person of her age is driving that much in a fourteen-year-old car. MY MOM DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A DRIVER'S LICENSE!. I have records showing that when the smog check was done one year ago, the mileage was 42,146. The car has right now 42,448 miles on it. That is an annual miles driven of 302 miles. If I didn't go through my Moms' mail this would have just been passed over and Farmers would have raised her rates again.

How many other elderly people is Farmers trying to take advantage of? To see that they have my Mom driving that much when the car is hardly used at all and Farmers has been repeatedly told this, is criminal. I have been trying to get my Mom to switch insurance companies but she is very resistive to any change in anything my dad set up before he died.

Within a month of the incident, our rate increased by $983.00 a year. This was my first claim. I have not had any claims for over 10 years with any company. The increase was greater than the claim made by the car owner I hit. How can this be fair? I would like to switch companies, but fear I won't find a company to insure us now that there is a claim. My name is David **. I have a highly modified 1986 Maier Racing Mustang. I had the car appraised for $31,650 by the Automobile Appraisal Association. I took the appraisal to Farmers Insurance. They accepted the appraisal and quoted me a rate of $258.10 for a 6-month policy. After I paid for the policy, they then raised my rates to $448.50. They explained that the new quote was rated by the $31,650 pay off price. They had my appraisal when they did the first quote which made this a typical bait and switch. I paid it figuring all insurance companies play this game and not worth my time or the hassle of switching. Since the first appraisal, the car has had another $40k in further modifications and was going from shop to shop to have work done to it. In the middle of the modifications, the car was in a front-end collision. I had the car appraised again with the extra modifications. It came to $51,700. Farmers outsourced a person to take pictures of the car.

Brad ** of Farmers Insurance then told me he would not honor my original appraisal and would only accept his Farmers Insurance appraisal. Something this important should have been explained to me in the first place before accepting my original appraisal. Being a total loss, Brad ** then told me he wouldn’t pay out the $51,700 appraised value because I was being charged $448.50 rated by the $31,650 payoff. They then paid Ross ** of Auto Bid in Kansas to appraise a car he has never seen, had zero paperwork on or receipts for. When I talked to Ross, he told me he could NOT find any cars like mine but found Mustangs with some of the same parts as I had and gave a final value of $16,800. The $448.50 I was paying for a $31,650 pay off was now reduced to $16,800. I have been overcharged for 2 years paying $448.50, a payoff they will never intend to honor.

Now, we are playing the Lowball Game. Brad then explained that he expected to take my $51,700 vehicle for $16,800. On top of that, Brad told me that the $40k in extra parts (engine, drivetrain, and suspension that were added) was not part of the original policy but still must stay in the car. Brad then said they will only accept the $51,700 appraisal towards their advantage to rate the buyback price. A complete double standard. I asked what the buyback price was and he said he didn’t know and they can charge whatever they want for the buyback price. Brad ** is forcing me to accept $16,800 for a $51,700 car, a loss of $35,000 or pay an extortion buyback price of whatever they set on the car. Brad ** then told me this will be a long, dragged out process and they can take as long as they want to finish this claim. I’m being scammed and extorted out of my property and need help.

Here are some definitions of Extortion: Wikipedia: Extortion (also called shakedown, out wresting, and exaction) is a criminal offense of unlawfully obtaining money, property or services from a person, entity, or institution, through coercion. Dictionary.com: Law, the crime of obtaining money or some other thing of value by the abuse of one's office or authority.

A warning to all. The worst of the worst! After being a customer for over 30 years, my vehicle was hit and totaled and my son's girlfriend was injured. This happened on January 22, 2013. Farmers has done absolutely nothing to help me, when the other driver was at fault. I get dead ends; phone numbers to people who don't know anything or aren't the ones who are responsible for helping me; or the numbers go nowhere. I get promises of what will be done and no follow up, except in an attempt for them to CYA because the other driver was also a Farmers customer. They have never informed me of my rights, offered me options, explained anything or given me any choices at all. They not only want to steal my car, but leave me hanging to take the loss.

I am absolutely disgusted with this company and will be moving all of my business, including the policies I have written for property, to State Farm. It has been a nightmare I can't wake up from and has caused me to lose sleep, lose business and caused untold amounts of harm to my health and well being in the form of anxiety and migraines. Farmers does not care about anything, but looking out for their own best interest. I have taken this to the internet to provide a forum in which to not only air my grievances, but to warn others of what they can expect when they are loyal to this company. I will continue to post until this goes viral, and I will also pursue a class action lawsuit as I'm sure if this has happened to me, I am not alone.

They have contacted my son's girlfriend repeatedly to try to get her to sign away her rights and make us go away. That isn't happening and I will make sure that I am vocal and loud in the deplorable way I have been treated. You cannot and will not treat the people that keep you in business this way. I will post this message in every venue possible until something is done to help me and not themselves. You don't want to do the right thing, then all will know it.

I became a customer with Farmers Insurance in Tulsa. OK, because I purchased a car on the weekend and was forced to get insurance on my new car before I drove off the lot (even though apparently my coverage on my previous car should have just rolled over). I agreed, but once I spoke with my previous agent, I had realized it was cheaper to go through him, as well as I had better coverage. When I switched my insurance, I did it via e-mail and received an e-mail immediately back from the Farmers agent asking about why I was switching so soon. It was simply because my previous agent got me a better deal with more coverage included. My payments with Farmers were only $115 a month. I received a notice in the mail for a bill that was due on the second month, so I called my agent to see why my cancellation date was 12 days after I called to cancel it, as well as the bill said I owed $639. He assured me those computers just take time to update; that they have to send it in and get it approved, so it will linger and look like that, but to not be alarmed and ignore it.

That month I got an automatic withdrawal from Farmers that took out nearly $500! I immediately put a stop payment on the ACH and called the agent. He gave me some remarks about how it wasn't his fault - "You know how those office girls are" - and assured me that I would get reimbursed the $25 dollar fee for placing a stop payment through my bank and would not be charged again by Farmers. Then the following month, I was charged a balance amount of $379 and again placed another stop payment and called him. He did not answer for over two weeks; that’s when I received a notice of final payment or my account was going to collections.

This time I went straight to the source of Farmers and called their 800 number and got some very good information. The Richard Keck Agency never turned in the documents from signing, so there was a discount taken off of my account leaving me with a balance. I was very surprised when I asked if I could file a complaint about the agent and the customer service representative said that they did not offer that service. They should want feedback from their customers, especially ones that are leaving. Some of their agents are obviously not being honest with customers. Lesson learned: always do your research!

Before I came back to the states, I took out an auto loan with Navy Federal and gave my mother, Kim **, power of attorney to purchase a vehicle for me. Upon arriving in MEPS in San Diego, I went online to get an e-quote from Farmers Insurance. This was on March 15, 2012. On this form, I stated I had a leased vehicle (I have a copy). When contacted, I told the agent I had a loan with Navy Federal and to give me what I needed for insurance. I was asked the VIN number, but did not have it with me. He said no problem. I was not asked to provide it once I got back to Colorado. I just figured they obtained it. I was emailed a policy to sign and did so on my phone as I had no computer. I expected the agency to have given me the policy I needed.

After I arrived home, I went to register the vehicle. They would not let me as my insurance card had a fake VIN number on it and an incorrect vehicle description. I put a call in to the agent - Bryan **. On May 8th 2012, I totaled the truck. When I called the next day to file a claim, I was told I did not have full coverage and there was nothing I could do. I asked if the policy had been reviewed by an underwriter and asked for a phone number, but was never given one. Usually, when a new policy is written, it is checked by an underwriter and the VIN number verified. If reviewed, the incorrect VIN and lien-ed vehicle should have been caught and corrected. I feel that this company is in violation of failure to protect the public.

My mother and I have contacted Farmers' district manager Ryan ** at the same location several times regarding this situation. We have sent emails and made phone calls. They are all denying I told them it was a leased or lien-ed vehicle. They just informed me that they just go by the e-quote form and what insurance I asked for. There is nothing they can do. They told me to file a claim but when I called to do so, they would not let me. I filled out the e-form quickly and expected someone to contact me and go over the details and explain to me what I needed. I did state leased vehicle on that form and have a copy.

As I had been out of the country for several years and not much experience with insurance coverage (I am 21), I assumed the insuring agent would have spoken with me about my options and what coverage that I needed to carry on my vehicle. This is a very frustrating and upsetting situation as I have a loan on this vehicle that I have to repay even though the vehicle is totaled. I would like you to please investigate this agency/situation as I feel I was not taken care of when I trusted this agency to protect myself and my vehicle. I feel they are responsible for this mistake on the VIN number and the coverage. I feel they should compensate me for the loss of my vehicle or at least amend the policy to reflect the coverage I needed so I may at least just get the vehicle paid off.

The attorney was a complete idiot, who did not help me at all either! Now mind you, I was the one who was hit! Anyway, the whole thing was grossly mishandled, and now the kids that hit me are suing me. Total nightmare.

Our vehicle did not cross the line, but veered over to see traffic ahead and the motorcycle clipped the front of the car. The motorcycle driver admitted responsibility, said he would pay damages out of pocket but later got an attorney. Farmers rolled over immediately when the attorney contacted them regarding pain and suffering and paid their claim and raised our rates! We could not afford an attorney. They cannot produce a picture of our vehicle, only the motorcycle. We got absolutely no representation after being with them for 40 years.

Farmers' agents do not follow through - The latest incident involved me hitting a cow with my truck, which damaged my front end. A week prior, I had hail damage to my hood. I decided to take the money instead of repairing the hood and pay my deductible. I cashed the check. The hood was still in great shape. The next week, I hit a cow, which now I have irreversible damage to the hood and needs to be replaced. Farmers added the money they gave me to fix my hood and added it on the new claim and stuck me for another deductible! In August of 2011, I was rear ended while stopped at a traffic light. I decided to use my PIP to help me offset my cost that I had to pay out of pocket. I lost time from work, had therapy sessions that were out of pocket because the clinic I went to did not do any muscle relaxation, only prescribe medication.

I want to fix the root of the problem, not mask it. Although I did have to use some medication because the pain was unbearable on my lower back. I filled out the application for benefits and loss for my insurance agent handling my case. I faxed 15 pages to her to Farmers' fax line around the middle of December of 2011. She said she received them. Then about a month and a half later, I called to check my status. She claimed she never received them. So I resent them via fax to Farmers' fax line. A month later, I called to check the status and she claimed she has no recollection talking to me about the resubmission of my documents and has never received them. Half of my PIP has been paid to the medical facilities that cared for me. However, the rest of the PIP I feel should be mine due to lost wages at work.

Today is 5/13/2012 and I resubmitted the required "Application of Benefits and Proof of Loss" back to my agent via email and fax for the 3rd time. I have been with Farmers Insurance at approximately 10 years and have put plenty of money into. That's what insurance is for, but when it comes time to pay out, it has been my experience that Farmers doesn't not like to pay.

Farmers' insured cars run uninsured - Farmers Insurance is a scam. Farmers sells car insurance policies, but when an accident happens, they refuse to pay the damage. This means there are thousands of cars rolling on our streets, carrying an insurance slip issued by Farmers but effectively running uninsured. I have a solid and undeniable claim towards Farmers. On March 20, 2012 my car got rear-ended by a car which has a valid insurance coverage by Farmers. I have a police report and a handwritten confirmation of the accident by the driver. Until April 18, 2012, Farmers stated they were unable to contact the policy holder and therefore my claim would be closed on Monday, April 23, 2012.

Based by facts unknown to me, Farmers changed their position late afternoon of April 18. They told me to see an appraiser who gave me an absolutely unrealistic written estimate of $593.96. He immediately told me his own shop would not do the repair for this price. He refused to give me a best case, a worst case or just a rough estimate. He repeated, saying the repair work would take about three days and there was definitely no way to do it for $593.96. He said I could leave the car there, and after taking the bumper down and taking the back of the car apart (so that I could not take it back anymore), he might be able to tell me the additional costs (which would be a barrel without bottom and, of course, not be paid by Farmers). What is an estimate? What is it good for?

The bumper alone has a list price of $380.00 plus tax, the sum of the parts exceeds $600, and there is no way to have the repair done for this price. For unexplainable reasons, his estimate includes paint labor and paint supplies although there is no paintwork to do. On March 27, 2012 I made a right turn from Gateway East Blvd onto Hunter Dr. in El Paso, TX. I stopped at the intersection because I had to yield to crossing traffic. While my car was at a complete stop, the car behind me crashed into my rear bumper. The driver of that car was Ivette ** of **, El Paso, TX, student at El Paso Community College, seventeen years old, not in possession of a driver license. She begged me not to call the police to avoid more trouble and promised to be responsible for the damage. A few days later, her sister told me on the phone she was only seventeen and I should go to the police, which I did.

When I filed the report, I learned that the police already had a mugshot of her which was unrelated to this accident. In the police report I was given Fin. Resp. named Bristol West Specialty Insurance. Bristol is affiliated with Farmers Insurance, and Farmers Insurance is together with General Insurance and Global Life owned by Zurich Insurance Group AG of Zurich, Switzerland, former Zurich Financial Services Group. Farmers handles all claims directed towards Bristol and maintains a website which is ironically named HelpPoint. I filed my claim by telephone with a friendly lady who said her name was Colleen **. She told me the procedure would take about two weeks, I would be compensated for my damage, and I would be informed about new development in the case immediately.

Two weeks later I called, then received an e-mail telling me they had now received the police report and would start working on it. I called to ask why they had not told me they were waiting for the police report because when I made my initial call I already had it. I could have faxed it, they could have had it within minutes and there was no need to wait two weeks. They told me they could not ask Colleen because she was not working for Farmers anymore. Later they left a message on my phone telling me the claim would be closed by Monday April 23, 2012 which gave me four more workdays to do... well, to do what? I spoke to many claim adjusters, supervisors, and managers. They maintained their position: The claim will be closed, go to your own insurance!

Suddenly, April 18, late afternoon, there seemed to be a breakthrough: our insured's policy will pay for the reasonable and necessary damages. Now they are offering me a check of $593.96 far away from the repair costs, not covering the depreciation of value on my vehicle after even the best repair. For weeks they tried to discourage me and get away paying zero. Now they are trying to get rid of me for conciliation money (probably thinking: “For this **, ha, five hundred bucks is a lot of money”). I have every reason to believe that there was never a Colleen, and saying “I don't know what she told you”, “I don't know why she did that”, “She is not working for Farmers anymore” is part of the system, the scam, and the criminal organization including the claim adjusters and their repair appraisers.

Farmers only communicates on the phone and makes no written statements. Out of all agents I talked to there was not one who did not tell me: Go to your own insurance! Farmers has to pay my reasonable and necessary damages (though all I am asking is reasonable and necessary repair), because this is the law, and they know that because they are professionals. They do not abide by the law, and they are still refusing to stand for their obligations and pay my damages. This substantiates the scope of my claim: Farmers is a scam. An insurance slip from Farmers is not worth the toner for the laser printer it was produced on. Their license should be revoked.

On April 4, 2012, I received a bill for an unspecified change dating back to January 20, 2012. Turns out they didn't believe that I drove my Tundra less than 5,000 miles a year so they changed it to 6,500 miles without consulting me and billed me an additional $42. I actually drove the truck less than 4,000 miles last year due to the purchase of a high mileage Honda hybrid which is on my policy. We have 3 cars for 2 drivers. I received over 20 confusing mailings from Farmers prior to my renewal this year.

If I can't trust their billing or the information passed on by their agent, how can I trust them if I have a significant claim? I was going to change insurers when the current policy expires next March, but because of a total lack of trust, I am now shopping for other companies. Farmers is incredibly unreliable in my opinion and should be avoided.

Farmers Insurance of Hawaii ripped me off.

I was a AIG/Farmers Insurance of Hawaii customer for thirteen years. I paid my bills on time and expected the same from them. This last time, that's not what happened.

I had a claim. The other party admitted fault and was insured. What's the problem? The appraiser said that it would cost about $400 to fix the new damage to my bumper but he was going to pay me $50. He said his reasoning was that there was a prior claim on the bumper and unfixed damage. That makes no sense. They should pay me what it costs to fix the new damage regardless. It turns out that I didn't even put in a prior claim for the damage. According to the the appraiser, I just reported the prior damage but did not put in a claim.

I also found the appraiser, Cy. K, a large male, to be belligerent. At times I also found the adjuster, Dolores ** to be belligerent as well. I don't remember this happening before. In the past few years there has been a change in ownership where AIG Hawaii was purchased by Farmers Insurance. Makes you wonder.

I checked with the Insurance Commissioner of the State of Hawaii. I was told that there is no law or rule saying that insurance companies should not pay the full cost of repairing new damage due to prior damage to a car. I was told they just choose to do that. I bet they do. I was told that AAA car insurance Hawaii has fewer complaints per customer than Farmers does. AAA told me they will try to recover the deductible from the other party if they are at fault.

I wish that Farmers was like that. It seems to be that they could have already recovered all the money for this claim from the other driver and her insurance company but they made other choices. Honoring this claim could have cost them nothing more than their administrative costs, but they seem to be in a denial mode.

My oldest son had two accidents within a year, and my insurance company dropped him, and suggested we move on. My husband and I, have had auto insurance for 15 years, and never had a claim nor a traffic violation. We were told that the decision was based on our teenaged son being at fault in an accident in January of 2010, and a second one in December of that same year.

The second accident was not even filed by other driver for two weeks, and the estimate of damage was stated at $1,000.00, which is what it had to be, to be considered a file-able claim. We were devastated at the thought of searching for a new company with our second son turning 16 at same time. A local Farmers insurance agent was so nice and eager to help. They suggested all 4 drivers in our home be listed on separate policies. It sounded odd to me, but they assured us it was the cheapest.

Both boys had liability only, and full coverage on mine, and my husband's cars. Few days later, I got a pack on each policy stating we had to sign a statement that we would not drive each others cars. I couldn't even drive my son's car. Then our cards came in and stated total restriction on each car that nobody, but stated person was covered to drive the autos.

I was not happy at this point, especially when multiple forms had to be signed, for all these restrictions, and was told, my minor son had to sign his own forms. I really was convinced that I had made a mistake. This was confirmed when my account was double billed on two of the policies the following month, and the rates were way higher than quoted due to "adjustments".

I started searching for a new company, and after a couple of months, decided, for the time being, I would move all autos, except my son's, with the accidents on his record. It is much cheaper with new company. Farmers continued to draft my bank account, a month after I contacted them about canceling, so I called again, and was told they have to have a letter from my new carrier showing coverage, and until then i would keep being billed.

I went to my bank and had them restricted from automatic drafts and canceled the one policy I had left there, and put that car on my new carrier. A few weeks later, I got a call stating I owed them almost $1,000.00, unless I showed proof of when my new coverage started, so I did, and didn't hear from them until several months later, when I received a threatening collection letter, just like my 16 year old son did.

The letter states they will begin calling both our work places, and others, until the matter is resolved, plus they claim to be backed by the state, and will proceed with collection, if not paid. I am so angry that they would dare hold my minor son accountable, and threaten to report him to the credit bureau. This surely isn't legal. I would appreciate any advice.

He swerved out of the way and she ran right into me, shoved my car at least a hundred feet and completely spun me around.

I filled out the accident report exactly as I just explained here. Farmers insurance found a loop hole, they blamed the accident on the car behind her and I got nothing. My car was towed off of the highway and the next day it cost me over three hundred dollars to get it out of the impound yard. I was put out of work for two weeks because I had whiplash so bad I couldn't work. Why do they continue to still be in business, I don't understand. It is now 2011 and every time I think about it, I still get so mad, don't ever use farmers!

I was involved in an auto accident on 10/27/10 in Santa Rosa CA. Farmers Insurance claimed that I was at fault 100%. I have disputed that. I requested that Farmers allow me to review the evidence files they have in their possession in order defend myself. Farmers has refused my request. I asked them to provide a copy of the California Insurance code or California Code of regulations that permit them to do so. They are non-compliant.

I currently have a complaint filed with the California Department of Insurance. My question is, does Farmers have the legal right to prevent me from seeing investigative files if I was involved in an accident?

In Aug. 2009, my auto and home owners insurance through Farmers lapsed without my knowing it. I tried to contact Irene about it and failed. I then bought insurance from State Farm in Sept. 2009. Next, Ted and Ollie ****** took over her agency. In May 2010, I got a collection notice for an unpaid premium owed to Farmers. I contacted Irene and was referred to the ****** who took my policy information and said they would make sure this problem was taken care of as I do not and did not owe Farmers anything. I got a notice from Credit Collection Services of Newton, MA that I owe Farmers $139.23, which I do not owe. This has now impacted my credit.

Stop this collection action immediately or I will take this to the Oregon Attorney General, state insurance board, BBB and take other appropriate action to stop this wrongful collection issue. This was caused by Irene's failure to cancel my policies, to communicate with me in a timely fashion in 2009 about my policies and whether I wanted to keep them, and to advise me that she was leaving Farmers. At no time did I ever receive a bill, phone call, email or correspondence from Aug. 2009 to May 2010 for an unpaid premium. I am furious that this matter lingers without being resolved to my satisfaction and that my credit is being affected. Please advise immediately.

Farmers is doing to me what they do to everyone, low ball an offer, then use high pressure tactics to force you to accept the offer. A Farmers Insured driver ran a stop sign and hit me. I told the first three Farmers reps I talked to that I needed transportation as my husband had been life flighted to a hospital 100 miles away. None of the reps provided a rental for me as is required by Montana law. The rental costs $119/day, Farmers will only pay $25.

Farmers adjuster did not inspect the damage to my vehicle. He said they don't have to fix it then made a joke about a bicycle being unpleasant with the weather turning cold. My vehicle is a 1991 but only has 63,000 miles on it. Farmers decided to total it instead of repair it to save themselves some money. The repairs needed are a headlight grill and fender on the passenger side. Farmers offered me $2400 for my vehicle. I cannot buy a replacement with 63,000 miles on it for $2400. I refused their offer. They refused to raise their offer. They have tried for over a month to get me to accept their low ball offer. I have refused every time. I told them to either find a replacement or repair mine.

As part of their high pressure tactics, they hired an auto auction company to pick up my vehicle. I have had to fend off this company eight times in the past three weeks and explain to them that Farmers does not own my vehicle and they can not come pick it up. Farmers refuses to pay for damage to my vehicle. Farmers refuses to provide a rental. Farmers is trying to take my vehicle so I will be forced into accepting their offer of 20% of actual costs. I have filed a complaint with the Montana Insurance commission and still cannot get Farmers to provide the service they were paid to provide.

After a month, Farmer's decided they were not going to pay for the rental car. My own insurance cost me $800 for a claim I filed with them.

On October 10, 2010 in Phoenix, Arizona, a very violent storm passed through. About 10:30AM, it began to hail, the size of which was about the size of the tip of one's little finger, and continued to hail long enough to completely cover the ground before it stopped. The sky cleared for the most part of the rest of the day. Around 5:30PM, the storm returned with a vengeance and once again began to hail. This time, the hail was from marble-sized to almost the size of a golf ball. The wife had just pulled up into the driveway when the storm hit. She was driving our 1998 Nissan Pathfinder. The storm hit with such furry that she remained in the car and covered herself with the sunscreen that almost everyone in this part of the US carries in their car.

The next morning, I inspected the car to find that the car had sustained hail damage on the roof, right side and the hood. The right tail light lens, the left head light and the driver's side outside rear view mirror had been broken. I called my insurance agent, Gary **, of Farmers Insurance Phoenix, Arizona, with whom we have had cars, a motorcycle and motor home insured with for right at 19 years. Other than one stolen car, 18 or 19 years ago and two window shield claims over a period of 8 or 10 years, we had not filed any claims. Within a week of sustaining damage from the storm, an adjuster came to our home and inspected the damage. I had yet taken the vehicle to anyone for repair estimates. Upon completing his inspection, he announced to me that he believed the car to be a total loss even though there was nothing mechanically damaged or wrong with it. All damage was cosmetic. A week later, every aspect of this claim started to spiral out of control.

Farmers has determined that the cost to repair the hail damage to be over $6000.00, the value of the Pathfinder to be $4762.00 with sales tax and DMV fees. The value increased to $5218.61. My policy deduction is $500.00, which brings the cash value of the vehicle to $4718.61. I was told that I could buy back my own car for the salvage price of $1425.00. Today, October 26, 2010, Farmers has determined that it will not pay the $4718.61 so that I can buy necessary parts to repair the car myself, pay an auto body shop to remove the majority of the hail dents and have it painted at the shop of the guy that used to paint any car for $49.95. I didn't ask for $4718.61 to fix my own car, I asked for $3303.02 or 66% of what they deemed the value of the car to be. Farmers flatly refused to pay anything on this claim unless the vehicle is paid as a total loss, that if I wanted to keep the car, I can buy it back from them for $1425.00, the same price they claim to have a guaranteed salvage bid for.

Kathy ** of Farmers Insurance came across like she was the owner of the car and that it was going to salvage, it would not be repaired by anyone for any amount, that or the claim would be dropped. The Farmers Insurance adjuster Daniel ** reported on the Vehicle Condition Component Report that 4 out of 12 components to be dealer ready, one of which is the exterior sheet metal with note stating No Dents, Hail Damage, and 7 of the remaining 8 components as Normal Wear. The final component, paint, the clear coat on the driver's side was listed as Major Wear noted as Clear Coming Off Vehicle. For which he deducted $155.00.

Looking up the vehicle in question at the Kelly Blue Book website, I input all the particulars of the car. Kelly Blue Book determined that my Pathfinder is in excellent condition, the market value was over $6100.00. I realized that my car is not within the KBB definition of excellent, but my policy covers $1000.00 of custom equipment of which there is $1378.46 on my car. This endorsement was completely overlooked by Farmers. When questioned about it, Farmers replied "send us the receipts and we will look them over". Look them over. My aching backside. You can see them in the pictures they took. They simply decided it was in their interest to not mention them and hope I had not read all of my endorsements to my policy or I'd forget about them.

Not only has Farmers attempted to low balled me on the value of the car, they are also attempting to high ball me on the salvage value. Reviewing the documentation received from Farmers, I noticed that only 10 out of 17 upgrades on the car that were reported found their way into the Vehicle Allowances sheet. The 10 items shown in the Vehicle Allowances section total $819.00. Items that cost $158.00 to replace such as one power mirror showed a valued of $9.00 for the two that are on the car. Custom wheels that cost $136.00 each shows a value of $48.00 for all four. The list goes on and on as does other discrepancies throughout the report. If you need insurance, I recommend looking to other companies of it. I can guarantee that before the middle of November, a 19-year long relationship will be ended.

I was rear-ended by one of Farmers Insurance clients. She was not paying attention as she came off the freeway off-ramp and hit me going about 30 mph while I was at a stop. She jumped out of her car on the phone and I assumed she was talking on her cell when she hit me. We were at an intersection with a major street and freeway off-ramp so I told her to pull into a parking lot so we would not get hit by other drivers at rush hour.

The damage to my car was fairly minor because she hit me directly on the tow package which took the entire impact. I had a headache within a few minutes but wasn't ready for being immobile the next morning. I went to the ER and had x-rays done with no broken bones but was sent for MRI a few days later. The MRI shows 3 budging disks in my neck and upper back area. I got one month physical therapy and was told they would not authorize more medical treatment. I am in pain and in need of additional treatment so I can work.

The adjustor offered me $3100 for medical bills which are closer to $9000 and my own insurance company expects to be reimbursed for what they have paid out which is $5000, so not only will I owe $1900 more in medical bills, I will not get any additional treatment. At least the adjustor said, "I can't stop you from getting more treatment but I won't authorize it", meaning they won't pay for it.

I don't know how those people sleep at night. Do I have to sue my own insurance company and let them go after Farmers for the claim? Any advice would be helpful. I still need treatment but can't afford to run up my bills, I only have major medical insurance and it does not cover physical therapy, office visits or chiropractic. Help!

Around June 25th I called Ana to ask her a question about my car insurance. I asked if there was a possibility that she could give me a 3 days extension for them to take the money out of my bank. They take it every first of the month electronic. The reason I asked her I was that I’m not sure if they did that I did not have the money at that time, so that I would not get a over draft on my account. I asked her if I could get an extension at least for 3 days so by the 3rd I would have the money in the bank. Ana said she is not sure but she will try. Then I asked her how would I know. She said she would call me later that afternoon. So a waited and she did not call. So I called her 2 hours later and asked what happened. Then she said that should I send them a letter saying if they could. I have not had a respond yet, so she said she would call me the next day. I asked her a respond from who? She said from Bristol, the insurance I am getting from them. Okay I said.

So the next day she called and said, “Dalila, it’s a little late to do this but I am going to advice you to barrow money and to deposit the money before 4 o'clock that same day.” I asked why. She said that because that way they won’t stop your payment and because she had to send the paper. I was okay, so I just want to know if I can get an extension. She was like, “I don’t know, just barrow money.” This insurance doesn’t work. Thins out with anybody. I was all like okay all do that because Ana was not answering my question. So just for me not to get all confused, I just barrow money. So I did what she told me and deposited the money before 4 pm. So I gave her a call back letting her know that I did deposit the money already. She said, “Okay, Dalila, you should be fine.”

Then after the first I called her to see if everything went well, she said that everything went good. Perfect, I was good. Okay. Then on July 30th, I called Ana again to ask her if everything was good with my electronic payment. This lady Avelina answered the phone. Ana was not there at work but she offer to help. Okay. I asked her the question about my electronic payments. She said, “I will put you back; there is no problem. You should be fine.” So she did okay and she said, “There, you’re back on.” I said, “I did not even know that I was off the system.” She said, “Well, not all the way; but your okay now there is no problem.” So I said, “So it’s okay to put my money in the bank like I usually do?” She said, “Yep, keep doing what you do.” “Okay,” I said. So I went to the bank and did my deposit for my car insurance.

On this date, August 25th, I got a phone call from Ana saying your payment did not go through. I asked why. She said because of me wanting to stop my payment. I said, “Ana, I never asked you to stop the payment; so I don’t understand.” She said, “Well remember I told you I had to send a paper and you said yeah for an extension, right?” She sais, “Well, for me to do that I needed to stop the payment and get you off the electronic payments.” So I asked her why did she say to deposit the money before 4 pm. She said to hold on and let her call them. So that’s when everything sounded weird to me. Then she says, “Well, you have late fees; you’re not on the system.” So I told her, “Wait a minute, you told me everything went well; then I made sure I called again and then Avelina said, ‘You’re okay, I put you back on the system.’

So I don’t understand why now I have so many late fees.” She said, “Dalila, you are acting crazy just for this mistake. I am sorry I am just doing my job.” So I said, “Excuse me? Well, I thought you told me everything was good? So now things are bad and you are calling me crazy? That’s not professional at all.” She said, “Well, are you gonna pay it?” I said, “I want to talk to your supervisor.” Well I did talk to the owner Shawn. She understood me and then she was ignoring the lack of customer service from Ana and she said I can not tell her how to manage her business. I said I never said that. The only thing that is not right is that she doesn’t have their employers explain details of what can happen.

Why did they have to wait till now and tell me that everything its okay and then they say no and now everything is bad? Then she’s calling me crazy. She was not helpful. She just said sorry that’s how they work. I know we rare good and work with good intentions, so I really got upset and did not understand why would I now pay late fees when I called and made sure my payments where going through.

I’ll get paid and I only have enough for my bills. I am a single mom and don’t like to be late on my payments. I do my part as a customer to have the money and call to see of everything is good and perfect. It is not my responsibility of their mistakes; it just messes things up for me with my other bills. It’s not fair that I get puled over to get a ticket then that’s another problem for Ana’s mistake.

They haggled with me for 3 weeks to accept after-market parts, even though I expressed concern about the safety bar in the front bumper.

2-3 days after the accident, Mr. EJ **came to see me at home to pressure me to accept $1000 as full settlement. He deemed my case is simple enough. But I was in such pain that I could not sleep at nights nor change pants. I decided to seek medical treatment and retain a lawyer. However, Farmers low-balled my lawyer's claim and refused to talk to him. In the end, my lawyer gave up and quit, leaving me on my own. My medical bill alone was $3850.

But, EJ opined that the large part of treatment was invalid, and only $800 worth was valid. His offer was $2103, with $800 to the doctor. He kept sending settlement letters to me to pressure me to sign. He refused to talk to me nor send me any documents to support his decision.

$2103 is not enough to cover my medical bill. It seems that treating my body is cheaper than repairing my car! Also, EJ's opinion on what treatment is valid seems to insult the professionalism of my doctor whom I trusted to heal me of my pain. My family and I are highly depressed and stressed by this ordeal. The driver readily admitted his fault to the police that arrived soon. The PT cruiser was crushed forward and all occupants were slammed into anything in front of them. My granddaughter had her foot on the brake and her vehicle did not lurch forward into the bus which was unloading children.

After several months of delays, excuses and rudeness; I advised my granddaughter to find an attorney to assist the three occupants. She did this, however, it did not help as nearly twelve months passed by and the attorney quit the case in early January 2010. My daughter took over in January 2010 and tried to coordinate the final settlement. She became so frustrated with the assigned claims agent that she asked for his supervisor. That did not help as this supervisor immediately started complaining that doctors always ran up the bills because it was an insurance claim.

I heard back a couple weeks later from Mr. Z (apparently a senior manager with Farmers Exchange) with a new set of excuses but no action. We continued to communicate by mail until the time ran out in June 2010. After that Mr. Z turned to email communication. Basically the problem was that Farmers did not even pay enough to cover the occupant’s medical bills.

On December 5th, 2006, I was in a car accident that was not my fault. The storm took out the power for 14 days. I worked 14 days. A block from where this happened, I come up to where I turn to get on the freeway, lights were not working. But not at the intersection yet to turn left. There was a big SUV to the right of me when all of sudden a Volvo turned in my lane. I tried to stop, but he turned into the front of my car. He came off the freeway, came around the SUV and turned into my left turn lane. I was going slow because I knew I was going to have to stop when I got up there. I opened my window. He got out the other door and said he was sorry; I did the same. I was on the overpass so I backed up. I said to him “Let’s get to the other side.” Had to go up to where I was going to turn left. I turn around and followed them to the bank on the right corner. That’s where I called Farmers.

It took about a week for them to get with me due to no power and no phone lines. I took my car to somewhere in Tacoma about 2 weeks later for them to look at my car. It had a crack in the middle of my hood where he turned into me. The person that called me to follow up with this said he was going to find both at fault. I said no way, but he said it was a 3.900 claim on his old car and that it was not cost effective to contest it. This would stay with Farmers for three years. Well, I changed in 2010 and that is when I was told there was 100% my fault for new insurance. Well I called many people at Farmers. I have their names and phone: Paul 18004357764, Steve **, **, and John **, **. Three of them told me “Yes, it was 50/50.” But when I talked to Kathren and Keven ** at **, he was at ok line. I was not yelling at him. Keven told me now that I changed insurance, I cannot get a better quote. I was mad.

Well now I told them I was mad that I have something on my insurance record and that is not right. I asked them “Why did I not get a letter saying this in 2006?” Keven rudely said he will send me one now. I said, “Shouldn't you have done that in 2006?”And he said he will not change this. Well this has cost me higher rates for the last 4 years for a 3.900 claim that they did not have to pay. My insurance, Farmers, did not work for me. They worked for themselves and what was best for them not me. I have no problem when I am wrong; but I was not wrong. There are a lot of accidents there with the same problem, coming off the freeway and turning left, going around the cars going straight not knowing there are and is a left turn lane to turn left to get on the freeway going north. Consequences: this is on my insurance record and has cost me more than it did for that cost of that car they paid off that they did not need to all because it was cheaper for them and not that it was right for me. I was over charged in insurance for the last 4 years.

Complaint: Car was given away November 2005. Farmers notified. No longer a member of Farmers since December 2008. A call to the HQ in Oregon on March 13, 2010 was of no help other than to be insulted. This may lower credit score and may affect rating with current insurance company.

The plaintiff informed him that camera video surveillance was available from the gas station. The representative made a follow up call to the plaintiff approximately 9 days later indicating that he had spoken to the defendant and had requested that the defendant get the tape from Speedway.

A week later, the plaintiff's fiancee contacted the Farmers rep for follow up and was told it was taking too long to get the tape so they were sending a photographer to take pictures of the damage, and that they would make their determination off the photos. A message was left on the plaintiff's fiancee's cell phone indicating that the representative decided that since M. North's car had more damage, that I must have been the one at fault! The fiancee contacted the rep on 03/01/10 and demanded the tape of the accident be acquired. The rep. followed up with a call to the fiancee indicating he (the Farmer's Representative) made the first and only call to Speedway to collect the evidence on 03/01/10.

Speedway indicated they would have gladly turned over the tape of the incident; however, they only hold video surveillance for three weeks and since the accident had occurred on the 24th of January, the tape was no longer available! The plaintiff questioned why the representative had not contacted the gas station when alerted to the event. The representative indicated that the plaintiff had not contacted him about the accident for over three weeks since the accident occurred. We contacted our insurance company (Safeco) the day of the accident!

Since the Farmer's representative was very adamant about making sure that the plaintiff was aware that the calls between the parties were being recorded, there should be no problem whatsoever in retrieving them as evidence.

My insurance kept going higher and higher all the time. When I placed one of the vehicles on liability only, the cost still went up. This is when I decided to cancel my policy with them. Farmers makes you pay two months in advance. Farmers had taken $341.00 out of my checking for the monthly payment, I canceled two days later on January 7th.

My insurance was paid for until February 19th. They would only refund $108.00. The letter they sent me says, "Terms for cancellation are set forth under the general condition section of your policy," that they can keep 10% of the annual term premium for costs created by the unscheduled cancellation. So why can insurance companies keep raising our premiums as high as they want when we are supposedly in a contract with them for the term of the policy? I really do not think the insurance companies should be able to keep $277.00 for costs on a cancellation. I think if the government is going to force us to have coverage, they should pay more attention to what the insurance companies are doing and quit letting them steal from us. It's a major headache for having to come up with the money to pay other bills since I am not receiving all the money I paid back.

I have done all follow up with requests for pertinent bills and information with little assistance from Farmers. This is repeated ignoring of my calls and no returned calls until I finally would manage to catch a supervisor to find out what was needed and then I would pursue it. The accident was on Jan 17th of 09 and they took full responsibility immediately. The wait for closure has put undue and lingering stress on an innocent elderly individual. I believe the reason to be so is to run out the time for her to file suit which strikes me as unethical if not criminal. Where can I get help with this? Time is up in a couple of days.

My wife was involved in a car accident. She was at fault. Farmers determined that the car was a total loss. One full week after the accident, they called with the settlement amount. It was extremely off base. We did our homework prior to the offer to determine what the same car in our area was selling for. So when they called, we had some knowledge as to what the settlement should be. Our car should be around $9,950 before tax, title and license. They offered us $7,700 total. The way they came up with this number is that they found the ones in the Portland/Vancouver area coming in around $10K so they found vehicles 150 to 300 miles away in completely different markets for less so they based their numbers off that. They also took the price of these comparable car (in other markets) and deducted things from the listed price to make them worth less.

With their offer I am unable to buy another car that is even close to what I had. I live in the Portland/Vancouver area and they are pulling number from different markets up to 300 miles away. Spokane and Seattle have a completely different cost of living and pricing. I do not live near those cities. In the market in which I live, it will cost me around $9,995 to go buy the exact same car that was totaled. The adjuster, Trasen, was also extremely rude and nasty on the phone. Horrible person to work with. We have been with Farmers for the last eight half years. My car is a 2001 Honda Accord EX Coupe four-cl, excellent condition both inside and out. Flawless. These cars do not stay on the lots long because they get 32 miles to the gallon and they run forever if taken care of. Very nice car.

What can we do? Who can help us? We need another car but need the money from Farmers to do so. We have not signed or accepted anything yet. Please let us know if you can help. We are unable to replace our car with one comparable. We are a one vehicle family and this seems like a hopeless situation. We are borrowing a car from a friend but will not have it much longer and we will then not have a car. I use my car for work and I need a dependable vehicle that I can travel in and not worry about it breaking down.

To briefly summate, last few years, my rates have been jacked up SUBSTANTIALLY and without any explanation. So much for the Ultra Preferred status as a longtime customer. This was the catalyst for me to look into other companies and in the course of my cursory Google research, I was freaked out to find a plethora of NEGATIVE REVIEWS from current/former Farmer's customers ranging from dubious billing practices to blatant denial of claims.

I urge anyone reading this to please just google such terms (with Farmers for each) with Pre-Matic denial of claims and billing practices and fee increases. You will be stunned and outraged. FURTHER, go to your State's Office of the Insurance Commissioner and review the past years Complaints' ratios and in the case of WA State. Around August, we began receiving additional bills for our auto policies without explanation and when we contacted the agent, he wasn't sure why either. We told him we were going to switch companies and he said, "I don't blame you." We cancelled all of our policies in Nov. 2008 and got insurance with another company.

We recently began receiving more bills and today (1/15/09), we received an explanation from our agent that it was because our preferred status discount was removed because of my wife's accident in Dec. 2007. They had full knowledge of this accident at the time they wrote the policy and were dishonest in quoting an amount in order to get our business. I was shopping several companies and the agent knew this. I feel they gave an artificially low quote to get our business.

I took out a motorcycle policy about the middle of May 2008. I was told by the local agent that I could cancel it in 6 months if I didn't ride the bike during the winter, which I don't. I paid for half of the policy (as well as a new membership fee of $15.00, which I am sure was extremely necessary). I called the agent in late October and the owner's wife said she would cancel it on November 1st. About the middle of November, I got a notice from Farmers that the policy was going to be cancelled for non-payment soon. I went to see the agent.

The owner of the agency said his wife had passed away and that the policy had not been cancelled because of this. Farmers wanted to charge me about an additional $80.00 (which in their policy, they have it written that if you cancel a 1 year policy, you have to pay 50% of the remaining balance). So since in my case I had paid for half the policy, they wanted half of the other half. I complained to the agent who said that wasn't fair and literally picked up the phone and called Farmers about this. He spent quite a while arguing my case. They sent a letter and again demanded the $80.00. I got sick of it and paid them.

Filing a complaint with the Colorado Insurance Commission did me no good as they said they broke no law. I told them maybe not, but since NOBODY gets to read their policy until after they have already paid, don't you think that is crooked? Just a word of warning to anyone thinking about Farmers for motorcycle insurance: Look around for a company that has 6 months policies and ask a lot of questions. Get everything in writing. These insurance companies are related to snakes, in my opinion.

Mr rental car was taken back in half that time. Further more, because my rental car was taken back too soon, I missed medical appointments, I just plain didn't have a way to get things done waiting for my car.

Due to financial hardships I wasn't, and still can't make my deductable. It was either pay the deductable or miss a house my payment. When I brought this to the attention of an adjuster, not the one named here, she told me that I was responsible for the deductable. I called the body shop, I even e-mailed the head of the body shop and pleaded my case. I was given two weeks to pay and $40 a day storage there after. When someone else offered to pay the deductable, the body shop wouldn't take the payment if it wasn't from me. It had to be cash or cashier's check. I did get a call from Michelle stating that they found the other party at fault and would be pursuing litigation. I asked if my deductable would be paid, but I was told the same thing.

I don't have a way to get around. I can't pursue employment. Not to mention the two weeks is almost up and the $40 a day begins. I have medical issues to tend to and without a car, which is fixed and waiting, and I can't attended to them. Michelle hasn't returned my recent calls. I don't know what to do. I feel like my car and life have been put on hold. I'm lost.

When I finally caught my agent in his office one week later, he confirmed to me the policy was cancelled. I requested this confirmation in writing. No response following our discussion. I follow up with him in writing email each day afterward, still no response. Finally after 5 days of requesting this information, I contacted the DM office and to my surprise, found out the policy had not been cancelled. And still no word on my refund amount (one of the issues) from being overcharged in my premiums.

This was my first contract of auto insurance in U.S. I had no idea about cancellation fee. So, I made a phonecall to my ex-agency, and she said that no other company would tell me about that. How can she say like that? I want them to revoke the cancellation fee.

I immediately filed a claim with Farmers Insurance, and they told me that an investigator would work on the case and contact me within the next business day. It has been 2 business days now and my investigator didn't call me nor do I have any informations about the process, progress or at least what to do. When I try to call his desk he seems to be on vacation.

I then called my agent that I had emailed with no answer, and she said that she could not reply within the minute (which respectable business does not reply to email within 1 and a half business day?), that she was with a client. She was pretty rough saying that she was at lunch, and since I had liability only my car was not covered (all I asked was to settle the claim and have other party's insurance talk with me, since they re at fault) and she would ask for a adjsutor to call me on my cell. I am still waiting for that call...

In the meantime my car (which is totalled) is at a body shop with storing fees increasing everyday, and nobody to tell me if it's need to be inspected before I get rid of it. If you ever consider Farmers Insurance please, look around somewhere else. They re very nice to sell you their services but if you ever have an accident (even now you re not at fault) they ll play dead, or rude if you try to resurrect them...

After receiving a notice of non-renewal for our auto insurance policy and the option to continue service with Mid Century Insurance (another company of Farmers). This would be a much higher premium. We got our auto history report that they based this decision on. So we went shopping and the competitive premiums were high throughout. But in the course of research we found a more detailed report from ChoicePoint the company that store houses this information. It showed errors.

Farmers had written two accident reports that were not ours. It took a lot of communicating and when my husband went into the office to tell them to check their computer files the clerk said it wasn't showing these errors. Then he looked again and found them. So they acknowledged it was their mistake. They said it would be corrected and that a new reduced premium would be quoted. We have email stating the new amount. More time to communicate and process with ChoicePoint. After receiving a revised report it still shows one error with Farmers again claiming it is correct. These reports affect competitive insurance quotes. Until it is fully cleared up we can't get fair quotes from other companies to leave Farmers.

We were put into a stressful position of finding new insurance at hopefully an affordable rate due to Farmers' errors. Also money was automatically taken from our account at the highest adjusted premium rate due to these errors. The credit they finally issued does not add up to the correct premium the agent claimed we would be paying if we stayed with their company. It has taken business time away from both my husband and myself in dealing with the company for two months. And things still aren't fully resolved.

The other driver was a distance away in front of me. She stopped along the curb and as I got closer she suddenly made an illegal u-turn in front of me. My car collided with hers and it spinned out of control and it finally stopped on the opposite lane. It seemed that I was driving eastbound.

I only had Liability Insurance. The other driver told me that she had 'full coverage' and admitted to me and to our insurance (we both have Farmers) that she made an illegal u-turn. She was not injured nor was I. She was able to driver away in her car. My car was towed. I no longer have a car and I have been renting one ever since.

I had a physical the evening of that same day. The physical was a joke, it took about five minutes. I didn't have any x-rays. Farmers is offering me minimal compensation. I can't buy another car with what they are offering me. Even though I had a 1993 Honda Civic, I at least had a car. I am also concerned about my physical well-being. I feel fine, except for a 'twitch' on my right shoulder. I'm afraid that something might physically come up in the future. I have not given them a statement since when I met with their adjuster she forgot her tape recorder. I welcome and would appreciate some advice. Thank you so much.

In addition, she also tore her meniscus in her knee along with fluid build up in her knee and hip.

We filed a claim and were seen by some insurance doctor who evaluated her for an entire 15 minutes. We were recently notified by Farmers that they would not cover her wage loss or medical bills because her back pain was pre-existing. How does some [one] determine this from 15 minutes of ridiculous questions? She has 5 years of medical reports and multiple doctors who say otherwise - that the accident DID worsen her back and also caused the tear in her knee and the fluid buildup in her knee and hip. This is completely disgusting and these insurance companies are THIEVES. This is America; people should not have to tolerate this kind of treatment, nor should corporations be allowed to Steal from people. The government allows this giant, multi-billion dollar SCAM to continue and it makes me SICK.

It has been a year and a half and Farmer's has still not settled a claim for us. After a car accident, with other party at fault, they denied part of the damage coverage. In addition to body damage, our transmission was damaged due to our car being hit from behind when we were at a dead stop at a red light. Kyle Duncan said they were going to deny the claim on the internal damage unless otherwise proven by our mechanic. Our mechanic who specializes in European cars (of which ours is a mercedes) confirmed that the damage done to the transmission was a direct result of being hit from behind. We have a very detailed report from him.

After the fact, they sent out one of their ''neutral party'' experts to do yet another evaluation. (who has not returned my calls to this day!) Come to find out he has known Kyle Duncan's supervisor pretty well for years and they seem to be pretty tight. Of COURSE as we expected, he was sent out for us only to receive a denial of our claim once again. So, we requested that we hire another party to come out to investigate, being that we had a feeling their 'neutral' party was not very neutral at all. They agreed. His report matched up with our mechanics report and completely discredited the report written by the person that Farmers hired. There were TOO many falsities in their report. So, when we talked with Farmers, they had said that the 2 experts would have to get together to come to an agreement, and that if they couldn't, we would have to split the costs. In the end, the guy Farmers hired never called back the specialist We hired, and no agreement was ever arrived at. SO, we have tried to contact Farmers regarding this claim to no avail. They will not return our phone calls at all.

Our Mercedes is still not repaired after a year and a half of sitting in our driveway not running. We were forced to finance another vehicle, which has been a HUGE financial hardship on us. I'm sure there is close to $9,000 to $12,000 of damages on our car that have yet to be fixed.

They advised me this increase was due to the fact I did not provide them with proof of previous insurance (which I had). I then sent them another copy of my previous insurance card which included effective dates, vin number, my name, etc. At this point I cancelled the insurance and went back to State Farm. Farmers continued to send me a bill for the 71.10. I called them several times and finally had State Farm send them a letter to show I had prior insurance coverage.

They then turned the 71.10 over to a collection agency. I have excellent credit (or did have) and this really upset me. I was tired of trying to get them to stop billing me so I just paid the 71.10. I am very angry that this company can take money they are not due.
