On the early evening hours of March 28, 2008 while westbound and fully stopped at a red light in the left-hand turning lane on Redlands Blvd in Loma Linda, waiting for the light and arrow to turn green in order to turn southbound unto Mountain View; accompanied by my 13 year-old son Kevin who was seated in the passenger seat and my then 17 year-old daughter Ashley seated on the passenger's side extended cab of my 1991 Nissan pickup.
Suddenly a car crashed into the back of my pick up, I saw my son's head flip-flopped; my own seat was jolted and pushed forward so much so, that I found myself hovering over the steering wheel, my daughter looked shocked and in agony.
Immediately, I asked Ashley "where is your cell phone?" I called 911, at which time the driver of the Honda Civic (a dark-haired young woman) exited the Honda civic, walked on the median and approached the driver side of my truck and said "Oh I am sorry; I was looking down or reaching down". In truth, I was shaken and concerned for my children, so I ignored her and continued with my call to the police. Subsequently the light turned green, I made a left turn and proceeded to move my truck away from traffic, I pulled behind a restaurant on Mountain View call, to my utter relief the driver followed and positioned her Honda Civic to the right of my truck.
While we waited for the ambulance and police to arrive, Mrs. A. who had just rear-ended my truck proceeded to tell me 1) she had had a bad day, 2) had just been given a bad diagnosis, 3) she further stated that the car she was driving did not belong to her, and lastly 4) that I should not have called the police. Fortunately, the paramedics soon arrived, I placed a second call to the police and they too arrived. My two children where placed on gurneys and transported to Loma Linda Medical Center by ambulance. However, I declined to go by ambulance because 1) I did not want to frighten my children any further, and 2) wanted to take my perishable items home. I was asked to sign a waiver that indicated that I refused to go to the hospital by ambulance.
On Sunday March 30th, I submitted an accident report to both my insurance company AIG and to Mr. Anthony L.'s insurance; 21st. Century, (the true policy and owner of the car that struck us from behind). Soon after, Mr. Michael C. a 21st. Century adjuster informed my AIG adjuster Laura M. that 21st. Century accepted that I was obviously not at fault. Equally important, a letter was sent to me highlighting that conclusion and I was assured that I would be promptly reimbursed and my truck would be fixed. Indeed, I complied with all of 21st. Century's requests 1) by signing and mailing (via registered mail) all medical releases, 2) X-rays, and ambulance records and 3) the police accident report to Mr. Campos.
My case was transferred from Mr. Michael C., to an investigating team with Mary A. at the helm, (a ruse initiated by Ms. A. to circumvent her responsibility). In the interim, I was followed conspicuously in an effort to intimidate me. A man with a camera took mine and my thirteen year-old son's picture while at a Carl's Junior's parking lot in Loma Linda where we reside. Periodically, I called Mary A. however her only response to my inquiries as to when they were going to 1) fix my truck, 2) pay the ambulance fees, 3) compensate us for our pain and suffering and 4) reimburse my HMO is "we are conducting an investigation".
Moreover, I gave full access of my truck to not one but two 21st Century's agents, I further complied by allowing a Mr. Bruce C/ to come to my home and record a detail interview which I also taped with his permission, however he did refuse to allow me to videotape our conversation. Mr. C. also informed me that "AIG and 21st Century insurance had merged; that he worked as an AIG agent in Ontario and as a 21st. Century agent at an office in Redlands," at which time I asked him "if that did not constitute conflict of interest" he replied in the negative. One or two days later a Mr. Neal P. left a hand-written note at my door while I was running errands, as soon as I returned home and read his note I called him, he was at my door 10 to 13 minutes later and looked at my truck.
Ultimately my AIG adjuster Ms. Laura M. called Ms. Mary A. to find out what was taking so long and she was told that 21st. Century was conducting an investigation due to possible fraudulent activities. I became appalled by the insurance company's blatant and unscrupulous tactics and decided to sue both 21st. century and the woman who rear-ended my truck. 21st. Century Insurance asked to be dismissed from the case. I asked the judge not to excuse them because I wanted to exercise my Constitutional right to face the company's representative and protect my good name.
On July 17, 2008, the case was heard by the Honorable Kenneth B. at which time Ms. A. proceeded to lie with total disregard for the truth, and respect for what a court of law represents. She went as far as accusing the paramedics (who by the way did a fantastic job caring for and transporting my children to the hospital) with unprofessional behaviors; she even suggested that the police officers were bias toward her at the scene, when in fact they were talking about citing her on site for not having insurance when she quickly told the officers that Anthony L.s insurance covered her as well. (She called him right after she got back into her car from the median on Redlands Blvd where she hit me, and he showed up behind the restaurant where we were parked). The woman had the unmitigated audacity to state that I asked my children to cough, which seemed ridiculous to me. Unbeknownst to her, Kevin is asthmatic and had a 16 inch pizza on his lap when she hit us and the pizza hit his stomach, any sort of excitement causes him to cough.
Adding insult to injury on July 17, 2008 Mr. Neal P. was standing at the entrance of the courthouse when I arrived, I said good afternoon and entered the building, (I felt that may have been for intimidation), well, to no avail because I had the truth on my side and truth and justice would prevail. Mr. Neal P. testified in court for Ms. A. stating that in his "expert" opinion the accident could not have caused the injuries we sustained. Which was beyond ridiculous; because three separate physicians asserted that our injuries were congruent with being rear-ended.
Thankfully, the Judge saw things as they were, and decided in my favor. However the amount of the judgment was small because I was so shocked by the lies being told in court, I forgot to hand the doctor's reports to the judge. Furthermore, since there was no guile in me I used my own HMO from day one and had no out of pocket expenses, therefore the judge stated that my HMO can sue 21st Century or Miss A. if they so chose. Second, in my zeal to confront these aforementioned people in court, I failed to present the court with an estimate for repair partly because I thought 21st. century would fix my truck after such expert inspection. Now, more than four months later, 21st. Century is stalling and dodging responsibility. The company (21st. Century) and Ms. A. are perpetrating fraud against me, the state and my children thus, should be made to pay for their lack of integrity. I will continue to seek justice by writing to Consumer Affairs, the Urban League, and the ACLU.
I received three acknowledgement of satisfaction of judgment in the mail on last Sunday, (in Loma Linda the mail is delivered on Sunday rather than Saturday due to the strong Seventh Day Adventist presence) I did sign them because my daughter Ashley is in dire need of money because her college experience commenced this Monday. However I believe 21st. Century should pay to fix my truck because Mr. Neal P. himself presented the court for estimate for repair. I may be driving an unsafe truck.
The consequences are: My son still complains of occasional back and neck ache, my left hip hurts, my truck has not being repaired, and the worst part is I was maligned. The $1,200.00 judgment is laughable, by the way it was divided into three parts: $500.00 for Ashley; $500.00 for Kevin and $ 250.00 for me. My HMO has not been reimbursed, the woman and the insurance company got away with a farce and I am left physically, emotionally and financially worse. I have not been made whole by any stretch of the imagination.

Twenty first charges a cancellation fee for cancelling the policy at ANY time, including renewal or an increase in rates. I was charged the fee in 2003 when they quadupled my rate because of my first and only at fault accident which the claim was only for $1200 I think. If I remember right I did not pay the fee. This year I had to return to 21st because they offered the lowest policy I could find which I needed to due because of a change in income. Also, thier website Quote is not what they accuatly charge for the policy.
After going through the whole process which did include my CDL number and the VIN number of my car, they increased the yearly rate by about $250! Which brought them up to the same rate as many of the other cut rate companies. I went ahead and took it because of all the time required to go back and do this all over again with another company.
I called the company and asked why the quote was not honored. The customer service rep said that the information they get once the policy is accepted is at times different than when the first information is given. He stated the online quote is only an estimate.

In December 2004, I had just returned from deployment and had 2 weeks to relocate my family to Washington due to a home port change my ship (US Military) was scheduled to make in January 2005. Meanwhile, my 2001 Ford Expedition insured through 21st Century insurance had a claim from an accident that was in the repair shop at Carillo's in San Diego CA being fixed following an accident.
We were awaiting for these repairs to be finished so that we could leave for Washington as ordered through the Military and was a little behind schedule waiting on the Expedition's repairs to be completed. Everything was finish except for my front end which was also damaged from the accident. I was told from 21st Century insurance that once I get to Washington to give my adjuster a call and they would send out an adjuster to finish my claim for my front end damage and repair. An adjuster was sent to the repair shop in Washington where my truck was back in the shop for engine repairs unrelated to the accident in California.
The adjuster had thought my front end damage was prior damage before my accident. However, my tires were fairly new and I had a safety check just prior to departing to Washington (PCSing). When I arrived to Washington my tires were bald and I needed to have them replaced due to my front end damages that caused my tires to prematurely go bald. I found a tire shop that was able to adjust my alignment in a way that would allow my tires to last longer than (considering the damage) current was happening. My average wear for new tires was at 10,000 miles and then needed to be replaced again.
After 14 months in Washington, I once again was reassigned to Missouri and had my Expedition realigned through Ford Dealership and bought new tires a few months afterwards with a 40,000 mile guarantee. Needless to say, my tires only lasted 10,000 miles before I started having problems again. I went back to Ford and Firestone and asked why my tires were already badly warned. After reevaluation from Ford and Firestone, they stated that I had severe front-end damage that is causing my tires to wear prematurely.
I once again addressed my front-end problem with Ford who had a collision front-end expert take a look at my front-end and estimate exactly what could be the problem They stated that my damage to my front-end was clearly from an accident, that only an accident could had caused my damage. The last accident claim that I had was through 21st Century who denied payment for front-end damage. Regardless of how they arrived at how or why it became damaged prior or not, they've been my insurance company since the purchase of my Expedition in San Diego CA and would still be responsible for insurance coverage on my car. Additionally, I did not have any of these issues prior to my accident claim in Dec 2004.
Now four years later, I am still suffering the financial expense of replacing tires, bald joints and other front-end parts that keep going out every 9-12 months due to my front-end damage. Now I am being told they are not able to align my vehicle until the damage is repaired because now everything is frozen on my front-end and is unable to be aligned. I called 21st Century once again to reclaimed my problem with my front-end damage caused by this accident and I am waiting back to hear from them on whether or not they are going to accept responsibility for this damage caused from my accident from when I was insured through them.

I had a contract with them for $32.00 for 6 months. They get the money automatically from my bank, but the last two months they took from it $177.00 with no authorization from me.
It has affected my bank account. I lost with them $354.00 which I was counting on to make my other payments and which now don't have.

My car was rear ended on Oct. 25, 2007 by a car insured by 21st century. I promptly filed a claim, and they sent an adjuster. Damage to my car was minimal, about $700, which was settled by 21st Century. After the accident, I felt fine and did not find it necessary to mention bodily injury to them. But, within 24 hours I had severe discomfort in my back followed by tingling and numbness in my right foot. As per my doctor's advice I had an MRI and X-ray, and was referred to a orthopedic specialist. It was determined that I had disc slippage which resulted in slight nerve damage. I had more than 2 months of physical therapy, through which I suffered through burning and tingling in my foot. In the meanwhile, I gave permission to 21st century to collect my medical records and hired an attorney as well.
So, far I have not recovered, and my symptoms have worsened. 21st century denied my claim for bodily injury stating that since the damage to my vehicle was minimal I could not have suffered the injury I claim. My doctor says that its possible I might never fully recover or it might take a few months. Do these guys have any ethics of any sort?

I've been a customer of 21st Century Insurance for 16 years and only had a couple claims in that time. In January of this year I bumped another person causing a 4 inch long scuff on her car and zero damage on my car. She said everything was fine and that I barely hit her. Come to find out, she filed a claim against my insurance. I told 21st not to pay out anything before contacting me to see if I could handle it. Who wants their insurance going up? Nobody ever contacted me, and my insurance didn't go up in June. Well, I just got my new policy, and my insurance went from $185/mo to $416/mo! That's for her alleged $1700 medical treatment and $500 bill to fix her car. A 225% increase? What do we have insurance for if we're going to get penalized so heavily that it makes more sense to pay the other person?
I'm livid and am canceling my policy with them at the end of the term. 21st Century has gone downhill the last few years. My insurance goes up almost every 6 months and for what? My car is depreciating so why the increase? They say it's because thefts in my neighborhood have gone up. Yeah right. Now 21st is telling me that I shouldn't cancel because everyone is going to charge me the same rate. Well, not according to Allstate and State Farm who are offering me considerably lower rates. Thanks 21st, but no thanks!

My insurance company (21st Century) terminated homeowner's coverage of my residence (obligatory fire insurance required by the lender) one month after the coverage begun. They claim that my property is situated to close (less than 500 yds) to brush area.
Before, I had insurance with another insurer but I was not happy with the premium I was paying, so I was shopping for a better rate.
21st Centure offered me what looked like a better deal. Because I applied for a policy one month before I needed a new coverage, they had every chance to figure out if my property meets their criteria or not. Instead, they just told me that my property is OK for them to insure and then they canceled the coverage one month later. Should I know that they are going to terminate me, I would not enter in any contract with them.
Now I am in a very difficult situation because of their recklessness. All insurance companies ask me if my current insurance has been terminated (it will in about 3 weeks) and once they learn of pending termination because of brush area adjacent to my property, they are definitely not willing to insure me. I am facing a financial loss of 2,000+ dollars a year for a high risk insurance and revocation of my home loan (1st mortgage) if I fail to find another insurer for my residence in about 3 weeks.
My property is not situated in brush area according to a listing compiled by the state. There was no fire here for as long as my city (Yorba Linda) maintains the records. I did not have any losses, except for small wind damage ($500) of a fence.

Withithin 15 days the insurance company started sending a false bill without any notice saying my balance is $17 a service frr of $9 is applied. The representative didn't resolve and every week they keep saying a different amount is due. They have a very worst billing practices to cheat the customer.

We contacted 21st century on July 1st 2003 to remove myself as an excluded driver from my wife's policy and add my recreational vehicle to the policy as well because we were just married and my driving record had improved. We where speaking with Michelle who said the computers where down so she couldn't pull my driving record but said she would make the changes and call us back with the new premium increase the very next day when she returned to work but that I would be covered at 12:01 am July 2nd. What she did not tell us is that I would not be covered until she called us back. And guess what she never called us back.
A week later my family and I were driving up to go camping (my 2-year-old baby boy and 5-year-old daughter and my wife were in the car) when another car speeding took a corner too fast and spun out and crashed into us, sending us sliding sideways down the road with cliffs on both sides of us. I was able to control the car and safely get us off the road but the other car rolled over.
Everyone was ok but the other driver had no insurance and my wife was distraught because we didn't know if we had uninsured motorist coverage, which we found out we did, but because Michelle never called us back I was still not a covered driver and our car would not be covered.
I've attempted to call 21st Century many many times with still no resolve to the matter, they say the only one that can help is Michelle but it is almost impossible to reach her. I've left voice mails on her and her supersivers phone as well as other employees leaving messages and e-mails for them. Meanwhile I have no means of transportation for my family to get to school, work and the babysitters and am having to borrow rides from friends and family.
