    In the last five years that I had Total Home, I only had two small claims and they weren't even covered by them. I had to pay out of the pocket. The claims process is pretty easy. But before they send somebody over here, I would like to know if the claim is covered or not. Because if it's not covered, then I might get somebody cheaper and go get the part instead of paying the copay and a service fee.

    The sign up process was not that hard. They have good customer service. When I called, they answered and helped me. Last week, I told them that I don't want to go in a computer every time. I prefer to have something in black and white and something you could print it and send it by mail. The rep said it was going to take about eight days, but he was going to put it in the mail, and then I got it.

    I liked how they broke the whole thing down in payments that was affordable, instead of paying it upfront. The rep kept in contact with me and see how I was going about making a decision.     When I signed up, the reps were great. I hope their service is as good as their sales though. I wasn't impressed with their competitor. Their response time was terrible and they had all kinds of fine print. It was unmanageable. With Total Home Protection, I expect better service and less fine print. So far, they've done well.     Total Home Protection is a complete fraud. My garage wasn't working and I had to pay. They won't. My Ac didn't work last year, I had to pay, they rejected. Now, I had to change the compressor, and they gave a reason that no one can understand and rejected it again. They were the sweetest people to take $1000s of dollars for 5 years on two of my properties. They paid $0 so far in any repairs I had to do. Fraudulent company. I do real estate and told all the people I meet and the title companies not to use this fraudulent company. I am joining any lawsuits out there to seek justice.

    The consumer placed a claim for an air conditioner on 3/26/2021 stating the unit was not cooling. The vendor reported that there were no mechanical failures, but stated it was an electrical issue. The consumer contacted us on 4/1/2021 advising they got a 2nd opinion vendor to look at the failure. The consumers vendor reported the compressor shorted to ground which results from compressor burnout caused by high temperatures in the windings or discharge area. Short to ground is simply a restriction of the policy and not covered under any circumstances. Customer is still a policy holder as of 6/24/2021.

    One of the Total Home Protection associates told me that they worked pretty good with veterans, so I decided I’d give them a shot. The saleswoman advised me of the six-year program that they had and I looked at it. When you do the six-year, you have a choice of paying in one full payment or do it in four payments. Right now with Covid, it's hard to come across extra money so I've taken the four payments option.

    The last incident that I had with my warranty company was very disappointing. I went shopping around and Total Home Protection gave me a nice rate. They also do a couple other things that the other companies do not cover. They gave me a rate of $32 a month. The representatives were very nice and answered all the questions. I wanted to make sure that when I spoke to somebody, they spoke English, and not send me to Malaysia or the Philippines, like I have been fighting with my warranty company right now, took me a month and a half to get my water heater fixed with them. They replaced everything they possibly could, and it's still not working. I begged them to replace the water heater, and they do everything in their willing not to do that. So, I hope Total Home Protection is different. I'm expecting better customer service and faster results when I use them and not nickel-and-dime me, the vendor.

    The reps from Total Home were explaining to me how things would work. I also was favored by the low amount of money that I would have to spend for my deductible. They seemed to have a lot of opportunities that some of the others did not have and I thought it would be worth giving them a try. Signing up was actually very easy. I didn't have to do much but just read the information that was provided to me, check off a couple of boxes, and sign the paperwork.

    I had one thing happen, a clogged bathtub, and I just called Total Home and told them what my problem was. They gave me someone's name and phone number and they said that they would call me or I could call them, it was my choice. Then when the guy came out, I had no problem. He went over some things about what could possibly have caused the bathtub to clog. He explained to me that it was just something in the line that happens over time.

    Total Home Protection was telling me some good suggestions so I tried it. I'm planning on keeping it. I hope it all will stand up to the reps' word. He sounded good and gave me a discount on some things. I told them to send me a hard copy of my contract. The first two people didn't know what I was talking about. They were assuming that I had trouble with them. I had called back yesterday and talked to one of the managers. I told him I asked the reps some questions that they couldn't even answer.     Re: Rejected Claim ** on our refrigerator leakage. First of all, this is not a refrigerator system, such as an air conditioner. It is a household, kitchen refrigerator that goes in my residence. But if you refuse to cover it under my warranty, then I fully understand your methodology of reviewing claims. Your intent is to look for issues that you can exclude, not include.     I currently have a home warranty and it was too expensive. I wanted to see what other people were offering. I sent back the request for information, and Eddie jumped right on it and called me 30 seconds later. I would have liked to have had a little more time, but other than that, he was fine.     The rep from Total Home Protection asked all the questions, and it sounded good to me. If my hot water busts, they'll come, look at it and fix it for me. I asked the rep if I have to pay for the things I didn’t have such as the air conditioner. He took the things off it and gave me a discount, which was cool. People should give Total Home Protection a try. I'm giving it a try to see if it works out good and I have two homes that are up under their program. I was gonna recommend them to my cousin because she got two homes and that’s good for them because you never know when stuff's gonna break down.

    I felt pressured to provide the initial payment over the phone. I was hoping to make the payment through the internet and a little bit more of a secure connection but the rep said “Well, I need $36 from you today to get the program started.”. He said that he swore it was totally safe and that I should give him my card information and he would get me started. So I set him up with the information and $36 was taken out of my account. Since then, no information has been sent to me through email about the final payment. All I've seen was a survey asking me how everything was going. I typed that I was concerned that I haven't been contacted with any mailings for payment. My house was built in the late 1930s and I still have the original heating system which is super old. If that craps out, Total Home can easily back out of the deal and I'd freeze to death in my house.

    Total Home Protection was a little bit pushy in trying to sell a product. I told them in the beginning that I wanted to do my research and they still sent me emails, trying to get me to buy this product. Normally, when people become pushy with me, I don't do business with them but I got them. The guy named Matt contacted me on email and tried to tell me $200 off. But after I talked to him, he had something else that he got to offer me. I talked to one person one day and then, another day, I heard something different. I told them about that and they started saying that it was only good for 24 hours. So, they were trying to use a scare tactic when they fail a plan and I disagree with that.

    My air conditioner got struck by lightning. But the only thing that went out was the remote control on it. It went out itself for a few days, but we kept hitting the little green light that redoes it and we finally got it going that way. We have to get up and go up the thing to work it. However, the claim is $85 to have Total Home Protection send someone out and it's not worth it for that. Also, I don't hear from them enough. They need to call their people once a month just to check on them. Other than that, the reps were polite and knowledgeable.

But I'm gonna change my plan because I liked the plan I had at first.     I'm having trouble finding a home protection company that follows through. Total Home Protection is the next one on my list. I just left my last one so I'm now trying to work with Total Home. The rep was a salesperson so he was just like, "Let me make this sale." That wasn't a good start with that. I know he's a salesperson and he's probably not the representation of the company, although he should be, which is why I still went ahead. And he offered a lot of extras, which were more money. I knew exactly what I wanted and once he understood that, we were able to go ahead and push through with the sale. What I'm hoping for from Total is that there is more of a direct flow between me, the customer, and the company who has the warranty for my home. I'm hoping for a faster response when there is a need to use the warranty. And I'm hoping for better customer service overall.

    I thought Total Home Protection covered all the things that I needed covered. But I have to get in touch with them because I'm going to cancel my contract. The representative was good. And then, I kept asking for a copy of the contract the other time, and he said he sent one but I never got it. And then, I signed up, and the next day, I got a copy of the contract and some of the things he said are covered, which are technically covered, but not in my instance. They will cover your sump pump, but they won't cover it if it's in a crawlspace. 50% of the houses in Pennsylvania probably have crawlspaces. I know where I live, at least 75% of the houses where I live have crawlspace. They don't have basements because we live on top of a mountain and it's all rock. So, most people didn't go through expensive trying to blast holes through the rock for the basement.

    Some of the grinder pump coverage was a little wordy as to what they are gonna cover and what the instances are that they are going to cover. So, when I look at the expense, the sump pump is not a big deal. It's $150 to $200. But a grinder pump is 2,500 bucks. That could be a big deal. And the coverage is it's covered, but it's not covered. It depends. The terminology is so wordy and the odds for Total Home not to cover something are a bit greater than what they do cover. Then, I looked at the refrigerator coverage and Total Home is going to cover the refrigerator, but they are not going to cover the seals on it. So what happens if the motor burns out because the seals are bad?

    There are all kinds of outs for Total Home to say, "Oh, well, you know what, read your contract. Because your seals were bad, the motor burnt out and we don't cover it." And then, if you have a leak, they will cover the ice maker but not the leak. And then, I look at the amount of money that they want. I was under the impression that I will pay $700 per year but I'm gonna pay over $1,000 per year. So, I need to get ahold of them.

    And then, when I was talking to the rep the first time, it seemed more of a private conversation where there wasn't a lot of people around, but the second time when I decided to go with this warranty it sounded like he was in a grinder room with 50 or 100 people doing exactly the same thing that he does, saying they are all trying to sell the same. They are more like a telemarketing scheme than anything else. I could be wrong about that, but I didn't feel good about it.

    When I call because of a hot water tank leak I do not expect to have to wait 6 days to get it fixed! When I checked with the BBB I found nothing but poor ratings and negative reports.     I liked what Total Home Protection offered. I was able to purchase multiple years plus they gave me a free year. Also, I was told if we decide to sell our house, it would be a good selling point to let people know that we have a home warranty. The rep I had bent over backward to answer any questions I had and worked with me on the plan that I wanted. When I was talking with the rep, I indicated that we had a plumber that we used with American Home Shield for years and he said that we could choose to use our regular plumber as long as their licenses were good and approved. That was another thing that helped me decide. When you've built a rapport with contractors for 12 years then you hate to go with someone else. It was just a great experience.

    When I received my email for the policy showing what I was being given, it gave the date of the policy period which would be six years. But when it actually stated the date, it was only five years. I emailed my rep and said, “This doesn't match. It is five years plus the extra year, right?” He said that was what the document stated. But it really wasn't. I like everything to match because you can always go back and say, “Hell, no. That's not what we said.” Someone sent me the corrected copy.

    Got signed up under pressure last week after the Total Home Protection salesman assured us that all appliances, including old ones would be covered. But after signing up, and later receiving and reading their policy however, it came with repair charge caps, exclusions etc. that the salesman had NOT mentioned. So on March 22 we decided to cancel under the free 30-day trial. Well, we called but ended arguing with their salesperson who kept refusing to cancel and kept promising to reduce the monthly charge and then reduce the deductible again and again. No matter how many time we asked simply to cancel. We had to call our America Express card to get the charges reversed. Never do business with these folks until they get rid of this rude salesperson.

    Total Home was cheaper and so I got it for my customer. The sign-up experience went quite good. The sales reps were nice. However, they didn't explain anything. Then what I didn't like about Total Home was that they got a 30-day waiting period, and for a Realtor, that would be a nightmare if customers got in and something broke within two weeks. Most of the other home warranties don't have that waiting period. My customer didn't buy the house and so I cancelled it. I was supposed to get a credit.

    I looked at and compared the benefit, cost as well as some feedback and reviews of home warranties. There were some that were expensive, like American Home Shield and Republic. They had some better reviews too. But Total Home Protection was reasonable, within my limit, and the cost per visit was a little less as compared to others so I decided to go with it.

    I called up a number and I talked to a guy on the phone who told me briefly about the coverages. I wanted to go for a one-year plan to see how the service is before I extend it for five or six years. The rep said there was no harm in doing that but I may not get the rates. He pushed on going for the long-term coverage, which I had not intended to. He said that with an extended or the long term five years, the rates and the cost per visit can be reduced. I was sold on that part. He said that within 30 days, I could cancel it anytime if I decide to just go for one year. I applied for five years but the coverage is going to kick off after 30 days.

    It would be better if there is an online option where you can fill in the form and look at all the rates and coverages then choose and decide on whether you want a plan that is one year rather than talking on the phone with somebody then asking questions. After doing proper research online, I can compare all the plans and see what will be covered or not as well as the rates. Maybe those are on the website but I didn't find them. The form that I saw online was only a name, phone number, and other things then somebody is going to contact you. That part can be improved so that while doing a comparison, we have all the knowledge and we can pick up the phone to make sure and talk to people if we have any questions.

    Another thing was the coverages were not explained very clearly. I reached out to even the sales representative over email asking if he could send me the PDF policy before the coverage kicks off on April 23. I am still waiting for the PDF copy. He did send me an email with the high level coverages. This was in text form within the email itself. This included the rates and everything. But I did not see any binding policy on PDF or a document.

    Second entry. I thought things were going to be rectified, I was a fool. I should have taken the offer of reimbursement from Total Home Protection when I first contacted the Better Business Bureau but after speaking with Laura **, I thought they were going to finally do what they advertise. But after not hearing back from Laura, I tried to call her twice leaving voice mails both times and she never returned my call. By this time, my time to reply to BBB expired. Nice play Total Home.

    Long story short, I had two claims out on 9/20/20 & 10/22/20; due to Covid 19 Total Home Protection was finally able to send a contractor out on 2/8/21. Contractor needed to order a part for my stove/range, and about a week later I get a VM from a Brittney with Total Home. I called her back and was able to reach her with my second attempt. She explained to me that the cost of repairing my stove/range was too costly and offered me $200 towards getting it repaired or replaced myself.

    I lost it! What was $200 going to do? I asked her to get me a replacement with the $200 she is offering me and she finally says she can’t. EXACTLY! I asked to speak to her supervisor and she tells me that she is the supervisor and she is the highest I can go. (They all tell you that) Then asks to put me on hold, when she came back and offered me $250. (Probably needed her supervisors’ approval) I asked about the advertisement of - if they can’t fix it, they will replace it. She quoted paragraph 7:U - "If parts are no longer available, we will offer a cash payment in the amount of the average cost between parts and labor of the covered repair."

    By this time, I’m disgusted with Total Home. I told her to send the check because I no longer have interest in wasting my money with this company. She continues to tell me that in order for me to receive the $250 my account will have to be in good standing. In other words, I have to continue to pay for my monthly payment while they take their time in sending me the rip off of $250. This was on February 16, 2021, today is March 18, 2021 and no check yet. BEWARE. Total Home Protection contract/guide has contradictions all through it.

    Total Home seemed like they were the best fit for the area in Texas. I told them what I wanted and they selected two different packages. I paid 270 every three months in four installments and I'm covered for three and a half years. It's $45 for a service fee and my rates never change. I haven't used it but I feel satisfied. I was already talking to my brother about it and what I have is better than what he has so I was trying to get him switched over as well. I’d tell others to give Total Home a call and see what they can offer. I'm pretty sure they'd be satisfied with it. They have great rates and great plans. They can definitely beat American Home Shield which is a big plus.

    The salespeople were extremely pushy, almost to the point where I wanted to hang up. I asked what was not covered and I was confused that they said only three things. The policy is supposed to be cancelable within 30 days. It doesn't make sense that it's not 60 days because the 30 days that you have to go over it and see if you wanna use it, you're not covered. It was a terrible sale. They should not to say, "This price is only good right now." They should also make the offer in writing. They had us pay so many years in advance and I'm still concerned about whether to keep it or not.

    There are some issues with my home that might affect me a little bit later. So it might be handy that if I find something that's not quite right, I can call on Total Home to help me find a proper person to make the repair or do what needs to be done. I bought the house and I don't even know if the AC works. It also has to work with the furnace. I use Peterman, a local company, for some of that stuff but if I need some advice, I can use Total Home Protection when the weather gets warm and I try the AC and I find out that nothing works.

    There are a lot of companies that are good but I want to do a little searching rather than go with someone I've used before for other things and Total Home might be able to help me. I'm a retired contractor and I did electrical, plumbing and construction. But things change and there are advances in the appliances such as AC and furnaces which are beyond my capabilities. But if the time comes and I check the equipment out and have a service call to see what's what, then I’ll be able to use Total Home.

    Though I purchased this plan for my current home which will go on the market soon, I kinda felt a bit hoodwinked lol. The salesman did not cover caps. When I sent the plan to another provider to go over, they said the coverage amount was not enough for some of the services.     Platinum Plan cost more than other plans, but provided broader coverage than others (types, #s of systems covered) BUT per service call is high at $125, they choose the contractor and limit is $1500 per repair (or lower for some items). Often their process is a service call ($125) for diagnosis followed by another call ($125) for the repair. We've now been without heat for four days since submitting a claim and they're playing phone tag with their own contractor before granting authorization for the repairs...temps are freezing at night (32 degrees) but their system doesn't change...they just seem to want to minimize their own costs at their customer's loss. Would not recommend or use again.

    A home warranty was something I said I wanted to get for our home. Setting up and going over some stuff online, I saw Total Home Protection. I hadn't searched around, so I didn't know about anybody but them. One day, the rep called me, we went over some things and that was it for me. Once I got my contract and I downloaded it, I was able to go over it and I didn’t like the way some of the reading were and what they would take care of. It was at the company's discretion what they would decide to replace if something was broken. Also, if something went wrong and they decided that it was beyond repair and it was going to be replaced, they would not say that it would be the same brand or color.

    Every appliance I have in my home is a Samsung. They've all been bought within the last five to seven years. I have a regular house and another house. In the regular house, I had an appliance with the computer on the front. In the garage, I still have a three-door. I just paid good money for my appliances. If something happens to one, I want it to be replaced with what I had. I called and I canceled my Total Home Protection policy. They were the first one that I went to and I wanted to check around and look at some other stuff, but I may be coming right back to them. The two people that I spoke to were extremely nice. Everybody was very knowledgeable too.

    The person from Total Protection actually answered the phone as opposed to a couple of other places and based upon the offerings in terms of the warranty, I decided to go with them. I called and got all the particulars, and I sent the selling agent the information as well as the contact information. She was trying to put it in as a part of the escrow and it would have cost her probably $100 more so she just waited till the day before I closed and then bought the policy. One of the bigger options for people in Florida is that the sprinkler system is included, which is always a plus. Total Home Protection has a reasonable price although you never know. Sometimes plans offer an introductory price and then the next year, they go up exponentially. But so far, the plan is great.

    I originally had a home warranty and I wasn't generally satisfied with the service and responsiveness. I spoke with my friend and she gave me Total Home Protection. She said good things about them. I made my inquiry online. As soon as I got on the site and entered my information, someone called me right away. I liked the quick turnaround time and the level of responsiveness.

    The gentleman who contacted me had satisfactory customer service in terms of tone and willingness to answer any questions. The prices were really good too so that's something desirable. As a veteran, I was also able to benefit from the promotion that they had. At first, I wasn't going to be able to pay the amount right away in terms of the annual. They had the promotion for the veterans but they were able to still knock that down a little bit. I felt like they were very accommodating. Given the time that we’re in, that's something that people need. A few dollars really does matter. With Total Home Protection, I got my emails right away. I had a little issue with the premium that you pay when someone comes out. I called and they got that corrected right away.

    Total Home Protection is local as well as low cost. I just registered for it and the process was smooth. The rep explained over the phone and I had some parameters before ‘cause I need to make some decisions. It was just that the contract obviously came after. I looked into the detail of it as well as the underwriting details. Some of the exclusion, I wasn't clear or I might not agree to or did not find it well enough. That's the only unhappy part of doing it over the phone. But then the options and the plans were to my satisfaction.

    I would recommend sending the contract first before finalizing and taking payment details over the phone because naturally, the customer is already paid. I felt like had it known, it might have been another thought, or may not be. It all depends upon what other customer has other company has to offer. When you're on the phone, you'd feel like everything is super rosy and great. But then the exclusion clause is not known upfront, and still, you're gonna pay. Then knowing, later on, it’s more exclusion than the normal scenario is something that could be improved. The only thing included is whether it is keeping cool or not.

    Total Home Protection was great because they said I wouldn't have to pay anything until they come out. The young rep was telling me last week, they've changed even that because I was paying $39 a month for them. Now it's only gonna be $30. Plus now when they send somebody out, they'll be sending a technician to work on whatever is going on. Before, they were sending somebody out to tell you what was wrong. Then they would suggest people to call for you to have somebody to come out. They took that part out of it.

Once I gave them the address, they were able to pull up all the details. The only thing that I didn't like was when I agreed to a one-year contract and they were trying to sell me a five-year contract afterward.     Do not use this company. I have an AC unit that was just denied replacement of the coil or the AC unit because it has corrosion. The warranty company “repaired” the leak, which was the same problem a year ago by adding Freon. This year I had the same problem, BUT the coil or the entire unit needed to be replaced. Now this year the issue is corrosion. So it’s not covered per the agreement. The company went so far as to actually call their contractor and coax them into saying there was corrosion to avoid paying for anything. There was no mention of corrosion on the work repair order and the company NEVER called to clarify the leak last time.

    My experience was horrible. I tried to contact Total Home Protection multiple times 'cause the furnace wasn't turning on. After about a week, they gave me a vendor. I called the vendor which is Northern Heating And Cooling and they told me they don't work with Total Home Protection any more because they failed to pay them. I called Total Home Protection again. They said, “We're sorry. We didn't know that they no longer work with us. It would take 48 hours for us to reassign you to another vendor.”

    I was waking up every morning and inside my home was close to 50 degrees. My wife and I called them about 30 times within two weeks’ span. Finally, they reassigned us to another company. I called that company and they said the same exact thing. Two weeks later, Total Home said they were gonna reassign us to a third vendor. We said, “No. We’re not gonna do that. That's not gonna work for us. We need another option.” They gave us the reimbursement program and we had to jump through hoops but I haven't gotten any word back.

    Living in Montana, my fear was that it was gonna get so cold that my pipes were gonna burst. It was negative 24 outside and with wind, it was like negative 30. The heater would only work if we went downstairs, flip the switch, and turn it on and off. Something was wrong with the circuit board and the gas valve and they told us that they only cover up to $300 of an $800 bill. It was a bad experience altogether. We're not going to renew at Total Home Protection after all that happened to us. I work in the HOA industry so I understand what it takes to call vendors, get proposals and get permission. But for them to take two weeks to tell me they couldn't find a vendor is ridiculous. They're trash. I extremely advise not to go with Total Home Protection.

    My experience with Total Home Protection the last time was not the best. I just signed up again because I didn't have enough time to research anybody else. Their customer service responding to the phone is fine though I've had a couple of managers that were not responsive. In terms of coverage, I had one item that was covered. The contractors came in and it appeared as if they were running their own kind of a business. I've had this guy come in and didn’t quite diagnose the issue. I ended up spending my own $400 to get the issue resolved.

    I had a washing machine issue which was covered the first time then it was not covered. Right after that, the whole thing died again. The one that irked me the most was when they condemned my washing machine. They said they were only going to give me 200 bucks when I was expecting more and it took them more than 8 weeks for them to send me the money after so many calls. That I was totally dissatisfied with. Once they make that decision, a maximum four weeks should be the thing. The money has to be in the customer's hands for them to make the next purchase.

    The two people I spoke with were very professional. They did a good job representing Total Home Protection. I didn't feel pressured to do anything. I didn’t feel like I was dealing with used car salesmen. I felt like they listened to what I was looking for and what my needs were. They didn't try and sugarcoat it. It was either yes or no. I had called back numerous times with different questions and the rep gave me a lot of information. However, he didn't have all the right information. One of the add-ons he talked about was the pool but some of the things that he said were covered didn't end up being covered when I read the plan.

    When I called back with a question about wording in the very long agreement, he didn't have the answer. He connected me with someone else who sort of explained it a little bit more in detail. He did a good job getting me feeling comfortable. The more I talked to him, the more sort of discounts I got. It started out with a certain plan and a certain service call fee. After talking about different options, I was ready to sign up for a one-year plan then it turned into a six-year plan. I work in law enforcement and there was a discount if I signed up for a multi-year plan. He answered my follow-on question. Total Home Protection's website is comprehensive too. It had some valuable information before I was ready to take that next step. I'm hard to please but I'm satisfied.

    I used to have HomeServe and they didn't do me well. They led me to believe that if my heat pump couldn't be fixed, they would get me another one. My outside unit went out during Christmas and my inside unit was heating a lot. Power was coming out and it almost drained my electricity. Home Serve sent a guy out who took my panel off and said it had been on fire. He said that he could put a used one in for 1,300 or a new one for 3,800. Come to find out HomeServe would only give me $1,500. So, I called a guy who does work at our church who found that two wires had shorted out. He cut them, put them back together and things were good as well. I dropped Home Serve and went to Home Shield. But, Total Home called me and they seemed to have a better deal. They said that they would replace things if they ain't fixable. I went with them and the lady I spoke with was nice.

    I did file a claim for the washing machine that had seized up and the repair guy that came out here checked what was wrong. He said that because the part was over $100, he had to get approval through Total Home Protection before doing anything. He heard back from them on Tuesday saying that they would get in touch with me to let me know what the decision is but I hadn't heard anything and today is Thursday.     I have a claim with Total Home and I told them I had a technician come. I'm still waiting to hear what to do. I'm out of town so it's difficult for me to send the invoices through email. Before Total Home even looked at my claim to see how much I owed, they called me to say that I'm gonna get reimbursed 200-some dollars. I said that my bill hasn't been done yet and the cost would be 400. The rep said "okay, then we'll wait".

    Total Pome doesn't cover a lot. Something went out in my condo's water heater but they didn't cover it. The cost of that was only $150. Other than that, Total Home calls me and makes sure that everything is good. I'm glad they have someone I can talk to versus just doing things by email. I've heard horror stories from my brother and my mom about whoever they went through with their warranties and how horrible they were. So far, I'm impressed with Total Home and I'm very satisfied with their service. I've only had one $400 claim, but they fixed it. In the six years I've been with them, I paid $1,600. So if that issue happens again to me, I feel I'm covered.

    I have a home in Indiana and I have a company I use there. Unfortunately, I can't use the same company here because I don't own the home, so that was a letdown. I was on the internet looking. There's a lot of companies that are around, but in most aspects, they want you to be the homeowner and you can't always be the homeowner. This house is in somebody else's name and I'm renting, but it's mine. It's in my friend's name because she had the cash money to put down for it and we're buying it from her on monthly payments. Still, I need to be able to cover the house because I'm the one that's here. If something breaks, I have to cover the expense and not everybody allow you to do that, but Total Home did.

    I went with Total Home. You don't have to be the homeowner with them, and I liked that. I liked the prices too. However, it'd be nice if they could get a few more people that were either online (to be able to chat with somebody that's gonna put in the claim) or on the phones (to have somebody answering calls so a claim could be put in). This is so you know somebody has the request and it's not just a machine. To me, communication is a big thing and they need to improve theirs a bit. I like talking to people when I'm doing business. If I'm on the computer and I'm not doing business, I'm playing a game. I chat with the folks I play with all the time.

    I balance the ease of putting a claim and being able to talk to somebody against the company I use in Indiana that I've had for a couple years. I compared the two and Total Home Protection's claims process was a little frustrating for me to start with because it's a little different with the service I use in Indiana. There, you pick up the phone and you talk to somebody. With Total Home, I didn't. Because of the pandemic, most of the stuff is done online right at the moment, so I went ahead and went online and submitted a claim.     I had some trouble with American Home Shield so I googled home warranty companies and started checking them out. I no sooner filled out a form and the phone rang. It was Total Home Protection. It was fast. The guy I spoke with, George, was very helpful and nice. He kind of sold me. But maybe I shouldn't have gone with the first one that answered me. I got a claim going on right now. My son who is disabled lives in one of my houses and he did not have heat Sunday. I didn't hear anything from them Sunday night when I filed the claim. They say 24/7 but I heard nothing on Monday and Tuesday morning, I still hadn't heard by 10:30. I called a contractor locally and asked them when could they go out and check 'cause my son couldn't be without heat. They went out within two hours and fixed it.

    I don't think Total Home Protection's customer service is that good. I'm giving them a chance but right now, I'm not real happy. The fact that they don't get right back to you and at least let you know your claim is being worked is very frustrating. You wonder if they got your claim even though it's showing. It gives you a phone number that you can call to get an automatic update about your claim. You call that number and the call drops. I tried it three times. I emailed them and told them that but I had to search to even get an email address. You can't even call and hold on to speak to somebody. It's automated and you do not get to talk to anybody unless you want to buy the plan.

    The Total Home Protection rep talked me into the Premier contract where they lowered my rates, and because I'm a senior, I'm only going to be paying $45. I was also told me that I could cancel it at any time. Apart from that, Total Home Protection needs to work on taking people off a list once they sign up with them. I didn't like that I wasn't taken off the list, and I keep getting phone calls. I must have gotten at least a dozen. I didn't say anything at the beginning, but I finally said something yesterday. I said, “Enough is enough.” The gal said, “I'll put you on a ‘do not call’ list,” that they already have it. Guess what? I get another phone call today and today's gal was rather rude. I said, “If I get one more phone call, I'm going to cancel my whole contract.”

    A friend of mine told me Total Home Protection is great. If you have any problems, they're there. The price was right too so I went with them. However, when I called them for a claim, it took a while to get to them. That's the only downfall. But when I finally did, they moved things right along. The reps were wonderful. They walked me through everything. I didn't have a claim number and a young man emailed me all my information which was very helpful. It's one thing to talk and get it like that but it's also good to have it in writing. I'm very pleased. However, I was not satisfied with their contractor. The guy did good with my dryer but some of my food went bad. I didn't have anywhere to store my food and I kept emphasizing that. He would be saying he'd be here at 9:00 in the morning but he came at 4:00 in the afternoon. I did not like that and my refrigerator still is not right. I wasn't even going to waste my time with calling him back. I don't want him to work for my stuff again. He was not good.

    When I looked at the Total Home Protection program, I decided that I would try them this year. I received a call and the person offered me an extended program. If I paid for a year, I would have like 14 months. However, my first experience in filing a claim was not very pleasant and I began to wonder had I made a bad decision. Every time I put the claim in, they will come back and say they couldn't find a service person in my area. Then, they came back and told me who the service person was. When I called the service person, they told me, "You've got to pay the full price of whatever we do then file it back with them." That's not what I signed up for so I kept going back and forth.

    When I did finally get that person, they were able to come out and look at the machine and order the part, which I knew would happen, that more than likely they would not have the part that was needed. But the service contractor that came out was very professional and efficient. They ordered the part, figured out what was wrong with the washing machine then came back and repaired it. It took almost two and a half months which I've never had that experience before. I've had American Home Shield for 12 years and normally, they can find someone. With covid, I expected a delay but I did not anticipate that a company that provides these services would not be able to get someone within two to three weeks, a month at the latest. Hopefully, I don't have to use it again. But if I do, I'd certainly hope I don't have that experience because, if I do, I'll probably run back to American Home Shield and pay the extra.

    I signed up with Total Home Protection. I like the extra two months free and a leaking roof. The $32 was the lowest price. The application process was pretty simple. The rep asked me a bunch of questions, and I answered. I told him I have to get back with him because, at first, I didn't know if I could do it or not because of other stuff that was going on in my life. They were pretty persistent about me signing up. In the process of trying to figure out if I wanted it or not, I got another call. Then, I got another call. I was like, “Okay. Let me research this stuff.” And I had another call. Then I got busy again. So, the persistence made me check out other companies.

    Then finally, I was ready. I realized I would have enough leftover to start payment. They convinced me. I don't really know what you would cover and what I would have to go through to get covered. For something to break down, I've never had to go through that. But all in all, it's pretty satisfying to know that if something breaks down, I can call them.

    My brother referred me to Total Home Protection. I use it mainly for my rental property. So, when there's an issue, somebody else can take care of it. Submitting a claim is not a problem. But dealing with their vendors is a hassle because I don't think the vendors want to work with warranty companies because they don't make as much money. At least two or three times when I talked to the vendors, they are disrespectful to me. My brother has had the exact same experience. I think they don't like to work with Total Home Protection because they don't make as much money as with non-warranty companies. Total Home Protection sends an email saying, "Okay, this is the contractor. Please call them to schedule the service." When we call them, they are like, "No, we don't work like that. We'll call you whenever we're ready." So, we have to wait for days trying to get them to work on the issue.

    Sometimes, it's been over a week and I have to call them back, and then they respond in a way like, "Why do you call me like if I owe you something?" I don't think there's anything the person on the phone at Total Home Protection can do. They just said, "Oh, yeah, we are kind of aware of these issues." So, it's really frustrating. I don't know if Total Home Protection finds the cheapest service providers and that's why they are so disrespectful. It really damages my idea of Total Home Protection as a warranty company when I have such a bad experience with the vendors. As far as their representatives with Total Home, it's good but I've had some problems in the past where I had to request to talk to someone higher. Normally, whenever I'm escalated to a resolutions manager, they are the ones that are able to help me.

    If I could give a zero I would. Customer service is awful, things break and it takes 4 days to hear from anybody. They find ways to not cover anything. I had a hot water heater break, that would not produce hot water and somehow it was not covered. Claims person told me once “it is luck of the draw” if you get something covered or not. Do not, under any circumstance sign a contract with them.

    I had a policy with Total Home Protection years and years ago. I moved into a new patio home and they wouldn't let me transfer my contract over. It was gonna be a lot higher than what I was paying. I discontinued it and when they were running a special, I called and got it back up. I had to file a claim on my washer last week and the process was simple. One thing that they told me was they were going to email me and give me the number of who'd be coming out here and I could call them. I told the rep I don't get my emails. I asked if they could text me and he said he couldn't promise me that they could text me. If there's a way they could communicate with people besides email, that would be great.

    The guy that was coming out called and set up a time for him to come. The part was out of stock so the tech is waiting for it to come in. But Total Home Protection responded pretty fast. They also gave me a paper that said if I get somebody to service with them, I get a free monthly percentage. I gave it to my sister-in-law and my daughter is going to be probably calling them and get with them too.

    I've always had a home warranty. I was looking to see what else was available out there. Total Home responded the quickest. Their application process was simple. The options that I was offered were good too. The signing up experience was good. However, I have had the opportunity to use the plan, and it's not all that it’s cracked up to be.

    My heat went out. I called and I submitted a claim. Didn't expect to hear anything over the weekend. So Monday came, nothing. Tuesday came, I spoke to somebody. The lady's name was Cher. She said, “We can get somebody out there Thursday or Friday to look at it.” I said, “Do you understand that it's wintertime here? It's cold. My house is 40 something degrees.” She said, “We’re not an emergency service. Now, you can get your own contractor and we will reimburse you.” I said, “Okay.” I called a company out there. They came out. They gave me a price to repair it. It was $339. The part was $200. But all of a sudden, Total Home only wanted to reimburse me $165 of the 339. It's about three weeks now and I'm still waiting on my money.

    I called Total Home Protection for the thermostat that wouldn't shut off and they sent some guy out. He said I needed a new thermostat. I paid him the deductible but he never came back. I called the company back and they were gonna send somebody else out. The guy that was coming out wouldn’t come out. He wanted another deductible which I already paid to the first guy.

    The problem was Total Home Protection couldn’t find anybody to come out. They told me to get somebody on my own and have them call when they got there. I got Horizon Services and when their guy came out, he said it was the thermostat and it would cost $391 to fix. Total Home Protection said to go ahead and do it. After he did it, they decided to only pay me $175 but I didn’t get anything yet. They told me to wait five to six weeks and it's been about two months. I've contacted them and left messages but they have not called me back. I'm not too happy with them at this point. It was almost like a bait and switch. I wouldn’t recommend them to anybody but I’m kinda stuck with it because of my mortgage.

    I put a request in and then somebody called me. The reps were pretty helpful. So far, according to what I was told and what I found out, it seems like it's going to be fine. But I’m still kind of skeptical because from my experience, a lot of times, home warranty companies sell you things in the fine print and you tend to miss it.     Setting up the policy with Total Home Protection was easy. I talked to a rep and he explained to me all of the stuff on it. Our central heat went out last month so I submitted a claim. It took two weeks to get someone here. One girl at customer service had an attitude. She said, "I'll send you an email or I'll call you and let you know." But she didn't and that was what pissed me off. I called and said, "I want to speak to a manager." So he called. I said, "I was in customer service. I dealt with customers all the time. If I could not find someone to help them, I at least had the courtesy to call them and explain to them I'm still looking." Finally, he got someone out here right away. Thank God, we got it fixed because we've had below zero in the last few days. It had something to do with a sensor on the front of it.

    The application process at Total Home Protection took about 30 minutes to finish up the entire process. The rep was very friendly and very informative too. I asked him what I needed. I was satisfied with the options that I had. It covers pretty much everything inside the house. So, I was fine with the policy. After I purchased the policy, after one month, my AC broke down. So, I called them. Then, everything was fine up to when it comes to actually paying the bills. I paid about $200 to fix my AC. But Total Home Protection didn't pay anything at all. I also paid the extra $75 to the technician that was sent to my house. It wasn’t really pleasant for me. So far, with the experience, I'm not gonna recommend Total Home Protection to anyone.

    Their policy is a little weird, where they don't have anyone over the weekend. For example, we had our heater break on a Saturday, and they told us we couldn't get help till Tuesday. But it's the middle of winter in Wisconsin, so that was not ideal. It'd be ideal if they had some emergency hotline in case something did come up over a weekend. I'm sure we're not the only ones who've had that issue. But the actual customer service itself was fine. They were pleasant. They've been generally quick at getting us help. It saved us a good amount of money on the heater when it broke. It's been worth it.

    With Total Home, the piping that runs underground from your house to where you connect to the city is included and that is a huge coverage advantage for them because many others don't offer that. A person reached out to me via phone because when you go to Total Home’s website, you put your information in there and then, they all start calling you. So, the person called and I got lucky because there are a dozen warranty companies out there. I told them to give me a salesperson so they connected me to someone out in New York and I was able to go through the coverages with him on the phone. I got along with the person fine. The reps were very knowledgeable but they were too much like a car salesperson. I understand they gotta be a little pushy and I'm in sales, so I get what they're doing.

    What I don't like about any industry is when they say that since I’m committing to Plan A and it's costing me 500 a year, their special today is for $400 if I do a two- year plan. But keep in mind, I can cancel at any time. The one that caught my attention was, at the end, I gave him a credit card to use and he said that he rarely ever saw this happen. Since I’m using a Visa card, here's one other special offer I get today. So to me, it cheapens their product.

    With all the specials, if they already have them, they should tell me. Because what they're offering is a very important coverage for home warranties. I'm going to be a little more sensitive to that because I'm a sales guy myself and something like that could kill a deal as fast as can be. So, it's that lack of seeing a little bit of professionalism. They should take pride in what they’re doing. They know their pricing and if that's what I need, then they wouldn't be throwing out four different specials after I've already made a commitment.

    I have an air pump system and when it started getting cold enough here in Indiana to turn that heat on, my air pump outside sounded like I was living next to a jet engine manufacturing plant. The neighbors could hear it as well. It was this high pitched metal on metal kind of thing. I went online, filled out the claim form and put a brief description in there as to what I thought I was hearing and experiencing.

    The very next day, I got a call that someone would be available to come out and look at it. A technician came out and had to go back and get a part. He came back the following day to put that part in and fixed it. It was incredible. It couldn't have been any easier. I kept waiting for the other shoe to fall and it didn’t. There was a $65 service fee which was fine. Some of the other companies are charging $100 or more for a service fee. To hear him say it was just the capacitor again was cool. I'm not going to have to totally replace my HVAC system here at the beginning of winter and it's going to be $6,000 or $7,000. It was a wonderful experience. Total Home is awesome. I told a friend of mine who just got a home, "If you don't have one of these, you need to.”

    The heating unit was short cycling. We filed the claim on December the 18th and I ended up calling back about a month later. THP wanted me to get my own technician and pay the technician and for me to make all the calls and everything. We didn't want to do that. We felt that if we were paying THP for the service, they could make the arrangements. It went on a couple of weeks and I called back to check on the claim. I got a different person who said that the claim has been assigned to somebody. I got the number but the person was not even in our area. Then, the tech that came out was friendly and did what he thought needed to be done but he couldn't identify the problem. He replaced the thermostat, which did not correct the problem.

    I had a refrigerator go out. They gave me a phone number of somebody to call. The people I had come out were extremely rude, and said that there was no fixing the refrigerator, and submitted it, and never got back to me. I chased them down. Took two months to go with our refrigerator. Luckily, someone else loaned me another one. I called and said, “Okay, it's been approved to be fixed.” The lady told me, “It's too old to be fixed. We're not coming back out there and fixing it.” I called Total Home Protection back. They told me to find somebody on my own. That went back and forth for a couple of weeks. I finally found somebody on my own. They came out. It was a simple thermostat. I submitted the receipt, submitted the request letter to get my money back for repairing the refrigerator but I've heard nothing. I'm not happy and my husband wants me to cancel.

    I'm not happy with Total Home Protection. It took every day to find someone to come and do the job for my garbage disposal. They sent me an email giving me this person but they don’t even do business with them. So, I called HomeServe back and told them that. They sent me an email of another company. This company said that they don’t do business with them because they don’t pay. So, I called HomeServe and I told them that. HomeServe called this company and this company told them the same thing they told me. It was a big mess. The garbage disposal is working now. But I had to go through all that just to get my garbage disposal fixed. I've never had to do that with any company I've been with. I wanna discontinue my service. I've already called them and they said they're having someone to call me but no one’s called me yet.

    I called Total Home Protection for a claim on my dryer and my refrigerator and I haven’t heard anything. So, I’m not paying anything. I never had any contractor. My dryer is still messed up as well as my refrigerator. It's hard to get ahold of Total Home too. I'm not gonna stay on the line on the phone for two hours. You call somebody, they send you to another place and then, they hang up on you. Then it goes over and over. They call you and then they say push 9 and they’ll call me back. So, this is ridiculous and I don't want anything to do with that. They aren’t worth a penny. They called me that I was behind my payment. I canceled them a couple of days ago but they didn't listen. If I were people, I would never go with them because they're no good. I would never deal with them again.

    I told my dad we needed to make sure he had coverage. I did two different properties, my dad's home and my home. I was staying over to my dad's for a time and my oldest kid was here with him. I signed up with Total Home Protection on November 25th and I had just gotten my policy on December 25th. It has the start date of the policy, not the waiting period. They can't start something when it has a grace period time. It didn't have November 25th 'cause the coverage didn't start until December 25th and that's what it has on there.

    I had an experience wherein unexpectedly, my water heater went out. Water was running out and going across the garage. We found out something was wrong by seeing the water in the garage floor. Unfortunately, my dad passed December 26th and nobody's gonna go without hot water, 'cause we won't be able to take a bath if we didn't have hot water. Not even knowing the 30-day grace period had passed, I called. First, Total Home Protection made up something. They said my waiting period was over December 25th, Christmas Day. They told the people that they didn't honor it. I sent a copy of the policy and a copy of my initial payment that tells them when I took the policy. I had to borrow the money because they wouldn't cover it, and now, I owe that.

    Nobody ever knows that the water heater is going to go out, but they make it seem as though you're doing something wrong or deceitful. It was covered. Total Home Protection should honor what they say. They want people to sign up with them, but when it comes down to covering what people are supposed to have covered, it's not there. It's false advertisement and being dishonest. Even their company that came out to service my water heater said they had the same problem with them from other clients. I was going to discontinue the service with Total Home Protection and today, I got a text message about my payment is due. They want their $106.

    A home warranty is a good thing to have. I talk to people about it. I see stuff around me and it makes me say, "Oh, you do need it." My neighbor's pipe burst and she's elderly. The home warranty is not even affordable for me sometimes, but I make do with what I have to, to make sure I have this coverage. It's like a car insurance. You're paying for it and then something happens. You're not asking for something to happen or going out there and making something happen. You won't do that to tear up some limb when you're driving, but they're dishonest.

    The dishwasher wasn't working in our rental property so I sent THP an email telling them that we needed to have the dishwasher looked at. They sent an email back to me and gave me the name of a technician. The tech came out, looked at it, and found out what the problems were. He called me back and said that he had submitted it to the warranty company and that they had approved the repairs and everything on it.

    The claim was originally submitted in December but nobody ever called back to set up a time to get the repair done. I tried calling the tech and I left a message but I never got any messages back. Then, I sent an email asking about getting it repaired. Then, I called the 800 number and talked to somebody there. She put me on hold while she tried to call the tech to see if she could get him to respond to her and she didn't. She said she would send me an email with a new technician that would come out and finish up the project. She said it wouldn't cost me another service charge or anything like that. I'm still waiting. But two months was really unsatisfactory service.

    Also, there was a problem with the plumbing at the trailer. It was backing up and it was in the evening. We tried calling and everything and couldn't get through to anybody. I told my daughter to call another 24-hour place to come and check the plumbing. That cost me $500 out of pocket to have them come out and run a camera through to find the leak and to clear it, which should have been something that this home warranty should have taken care of.

    The guy that came out to fix the heater did a half job. He said that he had to go buy something and he was coming back but he never did. I've been calling him ever since and now, his voicemail is full so I can't leave any message. I text him but there is no response. This happened in December. I had been calling and calling then finally, his son said that he was in the hospital for a few days. But now, it's February and he still has not called me.

    The main thing for the heater messed up so it had caused the other thing to mess up. Total Home Protection only pays for the main part and I had to pay for the other two pieces. I gave him $800 to do the job and I have no receipt. He came at 9:30 at night. I stayed up almost 1:00 and he still wasn't finished so I went to bed but my husband stayed up with him. He had told me before he even came in that he was gonna get me a receipt. When I woke up the next morning, I asked my husband if he gave him a receipt but he told me the guy didn't give him anything.

    My wife was interested in getting covered because she has concerns about things in the house that may go wrong. We had some AC work before we got the policy and we spent $400 on a repair. We thought, “You know what? We might as well look into getting a policy like this for other things.” Total Home's terms and pricing were good. The only little drawback was that they have stipulations on certain things that they don't cover. I had a plumbing issue and they only covered certain parts of it because they had certain circumstances they don't cover. Other than that, they were good at working with me. The plumber was good too.

    The signup with Total Home Protection was fine and the salesperson was helpful. When the heater on my dishwasher went out, we got it repaired and the tech was great. However, it's been about six weeks now and it still hasn't been paid. That's my only problem. I feel this is very inappropriate that they're taking so long like it's been a scam. They sent me forms to fill out. I filled them out and sent them in but there was no payment. I called them and they said I needed to fill out the forms which I already did. They said they didn't have forms so I sent them in again. Then they told me they needed a different invoice so I filled it out again and sent it in again. I called and they told me they didn't receive the form. I already did, twice, but I sent it in again. Finally, they told me that it's been approved and I'm getting paid but I still haven't got it.
