I will never use this company again. While on vacation our well pump decided to create a leak. A relative contacted Roto Rooter for us. I spoke with the technician and he recommended a complete re piping of the PVC that is attached to the well pump. He quoted $550 to complete the job and assured me there would be no leaks. I thought the price was quite high but since we were out of town and it had to get fixed I reluctantly agreed to the price. We came back from our vacation and surprise, our pipes are leaking in several places. I called the company and they resent the individual who did the work. He stated he would have to establish a new work order with additional charges to fix what they already charged. I had lost my patience and ordered him off my property. Bad business practice with these guys, go somewhere else or be sorry.

Was having an issue with my drain backing up. They came out and hydro jet the drain from the clean out to the city sewer. When having an issue from a drain before the clean out. Now it still backs up with water coming up in my drain, and since I don't want them to dig up my yard and put 20 feet of new pvc pipe in for a min of 10k. They don't care. I would suggest finding a different company that doesn't just care about taking your money. I will never use this company again. Very unprofessional.

In my opinion be very careful when dealing with these people. My complaint is they came to unclog a clogged sewer line. They failed to get it cleared and stated the line was collapsed and no mechanical means could clear it. Then gave me an invoice of 10k to replace. Hired a different company the next day. Around 10 minutes they had the line cleared. Roto charge me 565.00.

I contact Roto-Rooter for a small job. A plumber came out and repaired a tub spout and I was charged almost $300.00. He then sent two men out from the company who went under the house and they stated my floors was rotted out and needed to be replaced. After they left, I called my insurance company, and they sent an inspector out to check on it. He went under the home and found NOTHING WRONG. Sever days later, I received a quote for the work 'they' quoted me for and the bill was for $3,537.00. I still have this quote if anybody wants to see it. It's a damn 'SCAM'.

I called them to clean-out/rooter my sewer lines (roots in the line) and the service guy came to tell me he has to wait for a camera guy even though I told him not to, so he ran the snake without any auger bit (which removes the roots) and performed a show until his camera guy came out to point out I had roots. He refused to use the auger bit and left with his wing guy and charged me 200 dollars for a performance. The last thing he said was good luck finding someone who knows how to use the rooter equipment. I will never use them again.

Toilet was plugged up for the thousandth time, so I decided to get a new one. Called Roto-Rooter as I thought they were reputable. Tech came and gave me estimate of $520 for the toilet and $400 labor to replace it. I had no idea, what the price of toilets are, so I agreed to it. He came and installed it. I paid him $960.

Got to thinking about it today and looked at Home Depot website for the toilet he installed. $198.98!!!! This is totally my fault. I didn't think people ripped senior citizens off like this anymore.

I was asked to update my 1 star review once I received the check that they owed me for poking holes in my tub and ruining my drain with grout, tile and other debris AND THEN coming in and cutting my bathtub into 3rds to remove it and destroy it and while leaving our house, saying “have fun paying for that yourself“ The field manager TOM had promised me this would all be covered by insurance. All of it. They’ve ruined many parts of my bathroom doing their “remediation process” that was not fixed by insurance because it’s due Roto-Rooter’s neglect and unprofessional way of doing things, not due to water damage. This includes our vanity.

And because it took so long between Roto Rooter, the managers and bosses and now their own corporate and their owners to get this figured out with insurance and my family, the vanity that was going to replace the one they tore up and removed for no reason other than their negligence is now $600 more than it was before. They have screwed me for much more than the check they’re supposed to be sending me. So when Roto-Rooter tells you that they need to do remediation and that insurance will cover it all (or even a little bit) and they have a nice smile on their face, don’t do it. Especially keeping in mind that most insurance companies will drop you after two large claims. Do you really want to waste one of them on something that’s gonna make your house worse? They’ll just wreck your home and leave it to you to fix.

Todd S. said that he would send the check when we spoke on March 19. I checked with him to see when he sent it and his reply was “it was processed this week.” this was on March 28. In Laymans terms it means I have no intention of sending you a check otherwise I would’ve sent it last Thursday when I told you I would.. I ordered a package from Greece last week and have already received it. how long do you think it takes to send a normal sized piece of mail from Rockford to Loves Park, two borders that are touching?

At this point, unless someone comes and hands me a check directly in my hands by Monday, I’m going to protect all potential customers from the same damage and disrespect that was done to our house and our family. I have pictures and evidence if anyone would like to see them. Our first contact with Roto Rooter was in August 2025. This is how long it has taken to get to this point and it’s still not resolved. My bathroom is still not done. for more information my Google review has evidence and pictures.

I am disappointed because just four years after installation, I had to replace my Pump Sewer Ejector, although I was told it should last 15 years. When I called Jiffy Plumber, they discovered that the original plumber hadn't replaced the valve, which turned out to be the root of the problem. Not only did the initial repair cost over $2,100, but I also expected better quality of work. Jiffy provided a military discount, and I paid $1,675 with a guarantee that if the issue recurs, they will only charge me for labor on future replacements.

I reached out to Roto Rooter and was promised a follow-up call on Monday but it never happened. I had to call back and I was directed to Miguel **. My interaction with supervisor Miguel ** was unhelpful; he asked me to send an email and the bill, yet never returned my calls. Despite emailing him for three months, I received no response. Based on this experience, I would not use this company again. Invoice #**

Consumer caveat!! This company came out to my house because I had been gardening and opened the water faucet outside and by mistake closed the water valve next to it. When I saw I had no water inside the house I called them because I wasn’t sure what had caused it to shut down. They came and he said he would run a diagnostic which may I involve removing the pipes etc. but at the first try, he realized that the faucet just needed a bit more turn to open it (I hadn’t tried) and he just opened the faucet and then water was restored in the house. I thought for sure he would understand that it was not a diagnostic he performed and would not charge the full fee, but he (and the managers) insisted that even touching the faucet was $165. A complete rip off. I wish I had checked their reviews first. They have terrible reviews and now I know why.

Never, ever will I use Roto-Rooter again. My outdoor spigot was leaking... Seemed like a simple fix. Their guy was at my house for an hour. Gave me a very inflated price which I unfortunately approved. He left for 2 hours to get parts (a new spigot). Took another hour and a half to install it. Then told me my water pressure was so high my pipes were going to explode. I asked him to leave because he already charged me $800 to replace a spigot. I called another plumber who basically laughed at the way roto-rooter installed the spigot (roto-rooter cut off my copper pipe & replaced with plastic). And there was absolutely nothing wrong with my water pressure. Roto-rooter is a deceptive company that appears to have their employees work off commission and lie to rake in more money. Learn from my mistake... call a local plumber.

I feel as a women I was over charged for everything. I paid $350 after my toilet flange broke. They could not put toilet back because said floor was not good so couldn't use my bathroom. Had to keep calling to find out when job would be started. While they were working noticed they put a whole in my bathroom wall which they are not responsible to fix. When they went to put toilet back weeks later they advised my my tank is now leaking and I'll have to get a new toilet because you can't put a new tank on the old bowl.

Well they fixed the tank because it was their fault they took over a month to do the job. They turn the water back on for my sink (which had NOTHING to do with the job and shouldn't have been touched) and according to them starts leaking all over the place. Showed me a picture (one that was already on their phone, not my sink) and told me it was leaking for years.

Both myself and my son looked under the sink after they left and could not see what he was showing in the picture. Was told since they feel SORRY for me they could replace the whole sink for $850. When they sent an invoice for me to approve it was for $1,350. Nothing but lies and upsells. Bad communication between office and workers. Was told I never signed to get work started even though I DID. Had to sign again. Work took forever to get started. Very disappointed. I would give zero stars if it were an option. They charged $734 and did absolutely nothing. We had a pipe back up and called for assistance. During normal business hours (arriving at 10:30am) the first plumber put a camera into the pipe and informed us there was nothing he could do as there was sediment build up. He informed us he was sending someone else who would be able to break through the sediment. The next plumber showed and stated he couldn’t do anything either. After no estimate and no work they still proceeded to charge $734. I don’t mind paying a service fee but that seemed excessive considering no work was completed and no resolution was found. We called the office several times to dispute some of the charge and to date we have not received a call back to discuss. Never again.

I thought, no problem, small leak, Roto rooter would just come back out. They badgered me, bullied me, and tried to intimidate me into getting a $20,000 complete refit. A truly horrible experience. I talked to 3 different managers, none of them nice, but one was particularly awful. Cannot believe he would talk to a customer that way. They finally sent someone back out. Came out never went under house. No help at all! Just need a plumbing issue fixed. Need an issue addressed and they seemed like they did not care at all. All I need is water pressure fixed. No one seems to help me especially them.

These people are the biggest ripoff artist in the world. They upcharge you three times the amount of money for the value of the service. They came to my house, after talking for a brief moment, said, "Oh we’re gonna take the toilet off and run a scope a camera down your line." they did so and put the toilet back on. They didn’t fix anything and charge me $704.39 for one hour and 15 minutes that they were on site. I wouldn’t have these people back for any reason except to give me back my money and I’m gonna write a review every freaking day.

I hired Roto‑Rooter in Dec for a tub drain failure. They pushed their restoration partner, tore out part of my walls, charged ~$6,000 for plumbing plus thousands more in restoration (I still paid ~$700 out of pocket). They replaced both the faulty tub drain AND a non‑leaking shower drain suggesting it would fail in the future so cheaper to change all at once. They set the elbow too low, making it impossible to reinstall drywall. I pointed it out immediately and was ignored.

Fast forward to Feb — the shower drain began leaking onto my office desk. A second plumber found paper/foreign debris left inside the pipe. He removed it, added some "caulk" and said wait to dry in 24hrs....40hrs later, the leak continued. Then came a week of chaos: After several calls with 2 managers, a “senior plumber” was sent, identified the real fix and scheduled a next day early‑morning return… At 9 AM, he advised that management removed him from the job. The replacement plumber told my mother (not me) that he had a “family emergency”. Later, I was told by the manager that wasn’t true — contradicting their own text message

Today, one of the original plumbers came back with a helper, assessed the issue, admitted the mistakes he made in the first install including not accounting for drywall re-install. He took the time to correct all things today. He watched water flow through for 10mins and when I asked why it took 2 months to start leaking originally, he went up and tested the drain from the stall shower. He noted that it began to leak again with weight on it so he installed a new stall drain. It appears fixed now, but only time will tell.

The pics attached are, #1 the original piping, #2 the first "repair" with piping too low for drywall reinstall. The new piping is much better and clears the wall joists for drywalling. This has been two months of stress, delays, bad communication, and work that made my situation worse than when I started. My walls have to stay open for a while to ensure I don't have an issue. I will probably have to call someone else to confirm I'm good before I'm comfortable. I don't want another nightmare.

My Condo board and I were lied to and told there would be a follow-up visit to insert a camera in the 2-inch kitchen line to check for clogs after snaking out the lower-level line. However instead I was contacted by an aggressive technician who informed me that they do not perform this work and do not have a camera for 2-inch lines. This is surprising, as online it indicates they offer this service.

We were charged nearly $700 for just 30 minutes of work to clear a kitchen sink line, which seems excessive. When we inquired about the camera involvement in the cost, we were told yes, and that they would return to perform the camera inspection. Now, they are refusing to do so and so thus we feel completely scammed. They are just making excuseS to not come back so they can use their tech person to make more money for them elsewhere on the day. I expect transparency and service from a reputable company, This experience has left me unnerved.

I contacted RotoRooter on January 10th regarding a toilet overflowing in my powder room downstairs. The "head technician" Mike advised the water was seeping through the floors and the walls. Mike B was oh so helpful in helping me file a claim and copying the claim number. The mitigation water cleanup crew ripped up the floors and installed fans for approximately 9 days. The plumber Richard attempted to snake the pipes, but he had trouble finding a drain to snake. Another technician came and ran a camera and advised the pipes were old and that metal particles caused the clog.

This information was not provided to my insurance company. I am ready to proceed with the repairs through a general contractor but the repairs will possibly be delayed until it is determined that the reason for the backup has been resolved and is unlikely to happen again. I have tried to contact Mike B. for answers but he has been evasive. I have requested my insurance company to withdraw the payment to Rotorooter and I'm waiting for a response from them. If I have to hire another plumber to provide the information I need I will do that, but it will not be RotoRooter. This is an old established company but I will never use them again. 0/10 would not recommend.

We called for a stopped up and overflowing downstairs toilet. Tech came with no end on snake and couldn't cut thru clog in pipe and didn't have a cutting tip on truck. Then camera guy comes next day and say the clog is outside and will need to dig up yard and it would cost$10, 200.00. So, they came on Sunday, dug up yard and hit pipe with bucket and nothing came out. Then cut pipe out and stuck a copper rod inside of house pipe about 3 ft inside and out comes a hunk of clean wipes and toilet paper.

I should have been gotten charge for the incompetence of the snake tech that didn't have any sort of cutting head on snake, just cable, therefore they charge my insurance $10,200 and I absorbed a $1,000.00 copay. I have been in building trades for federal government and have used this type of equipment for years! And I asked the first tech why he didn't have a cutting head on snake and he answered don't have any. Which would have prevented the dig of my outside line had the line been properly snaked for clog. Wonder how many customers this company is falsifying work to insurance companies. I asked for the video of clogged line and never got it as I am trained on using this machine as well as K100 snake. Also, there was an electric line that was triggering the finder device.
