After starting off the day with an employee who didn’t want to work, they sent out “Shawn”. Shawn went above and beyond the call of duty. He worked on my issue for 6 long hours and was determine to turn my frown upside down. He was very professional, attentive, and determined. Hey if you have any problems, call and ask for him specifically if you want the job done right. Thank you Shawn.

    Original Review: May 20, 2026

They sent out Herman and he was very unprofessional. He walked in my house and quickly quoted me a high price. I thanked him for his service and told him we didn’t want to agree to that price. Herman proceeded to say “how much did you think you were going to pay”. He said he would call his supervisor to negotiate a lower price that we both agreed upon. Before he started the job he tried getting me to sign paperwork with an alternative price and I refused to sign it. He claimed he would changed it after the fact and I said “i will sign it after the fact”. He got mad and walked away to his truck and drove away. Very unprofessional and I wouldn’t recommend in the future if this is how their employees behave.

Took $695, ghosted on my birthday, and now trying to scam me out of a refund. Do not trust this company. They are highly unprofessional, unreliable, and have zero respect for their customers' time or money. On Sunday night (May 17th), I paid them $695 to fix a plumbing issue. The job was only half-done because they claimed their camera man wasn't available, but they promised he would arrive the following morning. The next day was my birthday. Not only did they completely ghost me and ruin my day, but I also had to cancel plans and family members had to miss work—losing hard-earned money—just to wait around for a technician who never bothered to show up or call.

When they finally gave me another window today between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM, they missed that too. When we called to find out where they were, the staff became incredibly defensive, making absurd excuses about being "backed up" and trying to push us to late evening or weekend slots. To make matters worse, instead of apologizing for wasting our time for two days straight, the person on the phone had a massive attitude and tried to talk down to me.

Now, they are actually trying to claim that the camera inspection is a "free courtesy" just so they can avoid giving us a partial refund for the work they never did! You cannot charge people $695, perform half a job, repeatedly no-show, cause people to lose money taking off from work, and then use technicalities to steal money when you fail to deliver. Save yourself the headache, the money, and the disrespect—go with literally any other plumbing service.

I wish I had read these review before calling them. Last year I called them for a clogged bathroom - first estimate was $300, then since it was more than one point, raised to $600 and after a couple of hours, camera, etc, I end up paying $1.000. Last week, had similar problem, called them again and after all services, they charged me $ 1.200. But 3 days later, my bathroom was in a situation impossible to use. They really overcharge. Do not recommend them for anyone.

Hard line sales pressure in an emergency. Hugely overpriced. After sales service very bad and unhelpful and very rude. The sewer pipe unclogging had to be redone by another company that charged me 1/6 of the price. Same with plumbing costs. Roto Rooter should not be allowed to operate at these exorbitant prices. I do not recommend them at all and am telling everyone that I know about our horrible experience with them.

Truly abysmal service. Roto-rooter is extraordinarily overpriced. There is no reason to ever use their services - even in an emergency. The management is dismissive when you complain about the service. They perform simple work and charge more than double the expected price. When the work is incomplete they then proceed to offer to "come back" to waste more of your time. If you ask for a refund you are told "no" or met with disbelief. This is a dishonest way to run a national business. They should be investigated and ultimately fined or better yet forced to close their doors.

Insurance refused and RR reduced the bill by $ 1,000. (i) Roto Rooter grossly over-charge clients; (ii) they do not provide ex ante estimate and try to force you to do the work on the spot without agreeing on a cost estimate, then, over-charge you; (iii) they do work which was not requested by the client and then over-charge you. As there is no estimate, there is no limit. Do not hire them.

If you read all the 1 star reviews, for Orlando Roto-Rooter - responses all from "Pat **" asking unsatisfied reviewer to email concerns and copy of the review. Totally ridiculous- boiler plate wording. Even after reviewer stated no one would call or email them back). I included information I found regarding Roto-Rooter after the exact same thing happened to me.

Do not recommend - truly unscrupulous company - 60 minutes should do investigative report on how they prey on people - especially the elderly. I should of looked up company prior to using them. Now I need to dispute and file a Better Business Bureau complaint to warn other people. They prey on the elderly. Basically inept at all levels. Couldn't even get an email right for visit confirmation- promised to have someone come for a free estimate in 2 hours. This was at 2:30 in afternoon, said person will call 30 minutes before arrival- multiple calls to them - asking status and three calls back from them, at end of 2 hour windows, 4:30. 6:30, 8:30. Each time - they couldn't find a tech to respond & come, wth?? This went all the way up until 8:45 pm! Total chaos, bs company. Townhouse resident suffering from back problem - exhausted waiting - needed to get to bed- said no more waiting tonight. She was given a window 10am-12noon.

Would of been fine if they had just originally said next day. - we'll at least the wait wouldn't of been such a lie and inconvenience- then after arrival - the thievery started. Wish I had just called a local competent plumber. Incompetent, commission driven tech- definitely question if even a licensed plumber. Had elderly resident sign a paper for over $800 charge. BS story about main line. Taking off a toilet. For a Simple clogged toilet. Said he couldn't find an outside clean out. Every TH has one in front of unit. Had to get a neighbor to show him. Then inflated price came down to still over $$600. He had to get help from a different person. person., not one tree around or anything found in line. He had audacity to leave her a partial bottle of this garbage company's now branded - Basically draino.

Looking for corporate phone number I found this information about Roto-Rooter. Putting it here so you are all warned. Sorry if you're finding my review too late. Hope it helps you go elsewhere- simple clogged toilet - new toilet, told elderly woman to press both buttons on new toilet in future. In my opinion - they prey on elderly for sure- even this survey says- broken toilet, not clog- they want to sell sell, sell. Shameful.

***"Key Complaint Areas High Costs & Inconsistent Service: Customers report very high prices and significant price variations between locations, with some technicians accused of inexperience or using sales tactics rather than technical solutions. Aggressive Sales Tactics: Technicians, often operating on commission, may pressure homeowners—particularly the elderly—into expensive, unnecessary services like full sewer line replacements or excessive hydrojetting. Unresolved Damages & Warranty Issues: Complaints highlight cases where repairs failed shortly after service, and getting the company to honor guarantees was difficult, with some customers reporting rude service from local management. Service Failures: Reported cases of technicians failing to clear drains and leaving jobs incomplete."

I spoke with the technician and he recommended a complete re piping of the PVC that is attached to the well pump. He quoted $550 to complete the job and assured me there would be no leaks. I thought the price was quite high but since we were out of town and it had to get fixed I reluctantly agreed to the price. We came back from our vacation and surprise, our pipes are leaking in several places. I called the company and they resent the individual who did the work. He stated he would have to establish a new work order with additional charges to fix what they already charged. I had lost my patience and ordered him off my property. I called them to clean-out/rooter my sewer lines (roots in the line) and the service guy came to tell me he has to wait for a camera guy even though I told him not to, so he ran the snake without any auger bit (which removes the roots) and performed a show until his camera guy came out to point out I had roots. He refused to use the auger bit and left with his wing guy and charged me 200 dollars for a performance. The last thing he said was good luck finding someone who knows how to use the rooter equipment. I will never use them again.

We had our sewer line blown through during underground work for Omni Fiber, who just kept on going like nothing happened. Roto Rooter was able to identify the issue and prove it wasn’t due to anything other than the underground team blowing through our main line & causing a backup into our house. They came in the middle of the night and walked us through every step of the way. They were professional and so supportive during an incredibly stressful situation.

We have been fighting the subcontractor for over 7 weeks for this to be made right but Roto-Rooter helped us get through this and advocated for us to assure the sewer line was fixed correctly. Could not be happier with the work they did, the support they provided and the patience they had with us during this awful situation. Aaron A, Brandon W, Trystan & so many others were so amazing, we had them come back out to update our sump pump, install a utility sink and a laundry pump. Excellent work and amazing crew!!

Tech came and gave me estimate of $520 for the toilet and $400 labor to replace it. I had no idea, what the price of toilets are, so I agreed to it. He came and installed it. I paid him $960.

Got to thinking about it today and looked at Home Depot website for the toilet he installed. $198.98!!!! This is totally my fault. I didn't think people ripped senior citizens off like this anymore.

I had sewer and pump work done on March 23, 2026. Paid balance due that day. Was told I would be sent the invoice by email or regular mail later. I called today, April 6, 2026, requesting the invoice I was promised. It was sent to me today by email but only showed the total balance of the services. I called again to ask for detailed information of services, labor, and products purchased. Was told that was the only amount she had. How do I get a detailed report that I may need for insurance purposes?

I was asked to update my 1 star review once I received the check that they owed me for poking holes in my tub and ruining my drain with grout, tile and other debris AND THEN coming in and cutting my bathtub into 3rds to remove it and destroy it and while leaving our house, saying “have fun paying for that yourself“ The field manager TOM had promised me this would all be covered by insurance. All of it. They’ve ruined many parts of my bathroom doing their “remediation process” that was not fixed by insurance because it’s due Roto-Rooter’s neglect and unprofessional way of doing things, not due to water damage. This includes our vanity.

And because it took so long between Roto Rooter, the managers and bosses and now their own corporate and their owners to get this figured out with insurance and my family, the vanity that was going to replace the one they tore up and removed for no reason other than their negligence is now $600 more than it was before. They have screwed me for much more than the check they’re supposed to be sending me. So when Roto-Rooter tells you that they need to do remediation and that insurance will cover it all (or even a little bit) and they have a nice smile on their face, don’t do it. Especially keeping in mind that most insurance companies will drop you after two large claims. Do you really want to waste one of them on something that’s gonna make your house worse? They’ll just wreck your home and leave it to you to fix.

Todd S. said that he would send the check when we spoke on March 19. I checked with him to see when he sent it and his reply was “it was processed this week.” this was on March 28. In Laymans terms it means I have no intention of sending you a check otherwise I would’ve sent it last Thursday when I told you I would.. I ordered a package from Greece last week and have already received it. how long do you think it takes to send a normal sized piece of mail from Rockford to Loves Park, two borders that are touching?

At this point, unless someone comes and hands me a check directly in my hands by Monday, I’m going to protect all potential customers from the same damage and disrespect that was done to our house and our family. I have pictures and evidence if anyone would like to see them. Our first contact with Roto Rooter was in August 2025. This is how long it has taken to get to this point and it’s still not resolved. My bathroom is still not done. for more information my Google review has evidence and pictures.

I am disappointed because just four years after installation, I had to replace my Pump Sewer Ejector, although I was told it should last 15 years. When I called Jiffy Plumber, they discovered that the original plumber hadn't replaced the valve, which turned out to be the root of the problem. Not only did the initial repair cost over $2,100, but I also expected better quality of work. Jiffy provided a military discount, and I paid $1,675 with a guarantee that if the issue recurs, they will only charge me for labor on future replacements.

I reached out to Roto Rooter and was promised a follow-up call on Monday but it never happened. I had to call back and I was directed to Miguel **. My interaction with supervisor Miguel ** was unhelpful; he asked me to send an email and the bill, yet never returned my calls. Despite emailing him for three months, I received no response. Based on this experience, I would not use this company again. Invoice #**

Consumer caveat!! This company came out to my house because I had been gardening and opened the water faucet outside and by mistake closed the water valve next to it. When I saw I had no water inside the house I called them because I wasn’t sure what had caused it to shut down. They came and he said he would run a diagnostic which may I involve removing the pipes etc. but at the first try, he realized that the faucet just needed a bit more turn to open it (I hadn’t tried) and he just opened the faucet and then water was restored in the house. I thought for sure he would understand that it was not a diagnostic he performed and would not charge the full fee, but he (and the managers) insisted that even touching the faucet was $165. A complete rip off. I wish I had checked their reviews first. They have terrible reviews and now I know why.

Never, ever will I use Roto-Rooter again. My outdoor spigot was leaking... Seemed like a simple fix. Their guy was at my house for an hour. Gave me a very inflated price which I unfortunately approved. He left for 2 hours to get parts (a new spigot). Took another hour and a half to install it. Then told me my water pressure was so high my pipes were going to explode. I asked him to leave because he already charged me $800 to replace a spigot. I called another plumber who basically laughed at the way roto-rooter installed the spigot (roto-rooter cut off my copper pipe & replaced with plastic). And there was absolutely nothing wrong with my water pressure. Roto-rooter is a deceptive company that appears to have their employees work off commission and lie to rake in more money. Learn from my mistake... call a local plumber.

I feel as a women I was over charged for everything. I paid $350 after my toilet flange broke. They could not put toilet back because said floor was not good so couldn't use my bathroom. Had to keep calling to find out when job would be started. While they were working noticed they put a whole in my bathroom wall which they are not responsible to fix. When they went to put toilet back weeks later they advised my my tank is now leaking and I'll have to get a new toilet because you can't put a new tank on the old bowl.

Well they fixed the tank because it was their fault they took over a month to do the job. They turn the water back on for my sink (which had NOTHING to do with the job and shouldn't have been touched) and according to them starts leaking all over the place. Showed me a picture (one that was already on their phone, not my sink) and told me it was leaking for years.

Both myself and my son looked under the sink after they left and could not see what he was showing in the picture. Was told since they feel SORRY for me they could replace the whole sink for $850. When they sent an invoice for me to approve it was for $1,350. Nothing but lies and upsells. Bad communication between office and workers. Was told I never signed to get work started even though I DID. Had to sign again. Work took forever to get started. Very disappointed. I will never go with a chain company again.
