Republic Services is one of the most disrespectful companies I’ve experienced first hand. Eight years in of service & the only reason we stay is for the price. Aside from that, they are unreliable. Numerous missed pick ups, with ‘no-shows’ on the return pick ups promised by customer service. Constantly receiving messages at the end of the day informing they’re short on drivers, so “we’ll pick up any extra next week”. My biggest complaint however is the fact that for some reason, my neighborhood somehow got scheduled for “the middle of the night route” and they come clanking, banging, screeching, squealing, flashing and beeping anywhere between 3-4:30 AM.
So what’s most upsetting is, even if I were to terminate service, I’m still located in the same neighborhood that 90% of residents use Republic Services, so regardless if I’m the customer or not, I’m being woken up in the middle of the night every Friday. Which leads me to the next point, out of any day of the week for a trash pick up, Friday is the worst day we could have been scheduled for.
As common sense tells you, if a family happens to spend the weekend cleaning out something in the house, or getting yard work done, your trash has to sit there full, the entire week before pick up. (I know everyone can’t be a Monday pick up) but we’re at the opposite extreme of that! I’ve also had a driver urinate in my driveway before which I can only assume was a retaliation of some sort due to me calling to report the umpteenth missed pick up. But to not care if the resident or their security camera can see you do that, wild. I also can’t tell you how many times my trash ends up all over the street due to them missing the dump. Accidents happen, but everything mentioned is ‘consistent’ behavior. For a customer to pay money for trash pick up & the company constantly skips you or litters your trash on the ground, so in the morning you can go down & “re-trash” your garbage into the same cans you’ve already put it in. Not cool. Do better!

Our trash guy Raymond ** does an amazing job, always on time, doesn’t make a lot of noise and seems to be very friendly, he is a very efficient and professional driver, always seems to be in a good mood and loves what he does.

Republic Services broke the wheels on my bin. They didn't report the damage. I reported damage. Told it would be replaced the following week. They replaced the good bin, not the broken bin. I called back several times and was told it would be replaced immediately. I saw the replaced truck come by but they didn't replace the bin. It has been three weeks and I am being told it'll take another week before it can be replaced. I spoke to Manager who indicated it cannot be replaced for another week. This is poor service and the company is one forced to our subdivision by recycling law so I cannot change and have no control. Incompetent Republic Services office staff, management and replacement personnel!

This is by far the worst trust service I’ve ever dealt with. If you wanna save yourself a huge headache do not get these people. They are horrible. They will overcharge you. I was on the phone with them for 48 hours over the summer. They’re not accredited through the Better Business Bureau. They have gone to court multiple times run for the hills. That is all I can say.

My trash has been sitting at the end of my drive for 3 weeks now. I call and they guarantee pickup the next day but it never happens. This company has one job and they can’t do it! Run, don’t walk someplace else.

In one year, trash collection cost has gone up 500%, as they now deem my property a business, house and 4 units. I had negotiated a price, and they backed out of that in 4 months. I am paying over $7600 a year for trash pickup, used to be $1200. I feel I am being ripped off, with no other recourse.

For five years, I have been dealing with this trash company. Yesterday, August 17, 2025 I was told that my trash couldn’t be picked up because my cans were too full then to come to find out that they’re saying that I was only supposed to have one can even though we ordered three cans five years ago. They are now recharging me. Then young Lady tells me that it would be $17.96 for them to come and pick it up even though they didn’t pick it up on the Monday that they were supposed to. Had to speak to multiple representation then the young lady tells me, "Oh no ma’am we can’t pick your trash up. You’d have to wait until Monday," even though I was just told by another representation that they can pick it up today and they couldn’t. I have been hung up on. I have been really talked to by a young man. This coming clearly is not caring about their customer needs on top of paying my bills on time.

I have had Republic for 2 years. They constantly do not pick up all the trash. I have tried to cancel they will not not pick up the phone. Chat states they can't cancel it. At this point I'm not paying.

Republic Services bought out our former trash service and they have been horrible. In the years we had service with the other company, I had a few missed pick-ups over decades of service and I have already had at least twice the amount of missed pick-ups with Republic in a short time. Our neighborhood has cans out that were again missed two days ago. They are a joke and expensive. It is a health issue when trash sits in the hot 100 degree sun over the weekend on the highway, and it is a very bad visual for their company. Because our pick-up day is Friday, I can only surmise that the crews have to stop working when they hit their 40hr workweek. It is NOT ok to keep billing us for unfulfilled service.

Republic bought out the previous trash company I had. Prices went to ridiculous amounts, with no added value. But what's horrible is that they charged me $60 to pick up my trash can!!! Which was not mentioned at all. Did I have an option to keep the can? I'm guessing not. So I called to reverse this ridiculous fee, and was informed they have to go through the process of listening to the call to make sure I wasn't informed. What kind of business does that? A crappy one that will never see a dime from me again.

Absolutely awful experience. Signed up with Republic when we bought our home on July 2, 2025. There was immediate confusion over how much the bill was actually going to be. I saw one rate online, the person I talked to on the phone quoted a different amount and said she couldn't match the online price. I went ahead with "service" and received the wrong-size trash container. This was eventually replaced. Republic then missed 5 out of 7 pickups at my home. We had trash piling up for days at a new home.
Upon deciding to cancel service, I signed up with a different provider and struggled with the customer service reps to get the containers removed. It took hours on hold and several phone calls to finally get the issue resolved and the containers removed. Fast forward a few weeks and I just received an invoice for container removal. Contracts go both ways; it's absolutely ridiculous that I would be charged for container removal when service was never provided in the first place. Absolutely terrible service and terrible experience.

Deserves zero stars. This company bought out Gallegos and they are absolutely terrible. Gallegos was excellent. The nicest customer service and low prices. Republic pretty much missed our weekly pickups twice a month and when we cancelled had to call them numerous times to pick up bins. Took 2 weeks for them to get their lousy bins. This company isn’t worth a shit and charges so much more. I can’t believe they haven’t been out of business. And I see they give the same canned response to all the bad reviews. Clearly they don’t give a shit

They were good when they started, but are just awful now. I cancelled service after they broke one can and spilled the other without cleaning. They are supposed to pick up the cans after cancellation, but have missed 4 pickups so far and are trying to charge me for the missing cans. Stay far away from them.

This place is a joke. I’m disabled and have door service meaning the driver is supposed to stop, get my can, empty it and put it back. I CONSTANTLY have to call and complain. I was told I could go online and schedule a missed pickup. Guess what? Tried that also, never got picked up. Every person I talk to apologizes, say that they will “escalate” this matter to upper management and someone will call me. I’ve been “escalated” so many times I should be talking to God by now. Most of the time I get the response that it must be a different driver. Shouldn’t matter. Every driver should have a list of who has door service on their truck. I’m retired but have better things to do than to be on the phone trying to get a simple matter resolved. They can’t even take the previous owner’s contact number off the account and I’ve been living here for 11 months. Pitiful.

You have a schedule for large item pickup and they never show up. Sad very sad. Especially when you're disabled and you follow their rules and they can't even follow their own. Don't waste your time with these people.

I have had the worst experience trying to replace my trash bins that were broken by them. It’s been several times I have tried to replace them, the first two times I just put them back inside my property. This time I did follow up and it’s been a whole month trying to get them replaced. They keep on postponing and closing my case saying it’s been delivered and then they said they’re out of stock. I had heard horrible stories but didn’t believe it until now.

I think Republic Trash Services is a decent residential pickup, they do miss a pickup say once in a 3 month period. Times for pickups are all over the place say from mid morning to mid afternoon. My primary gripe is the recent fairly large unannounced tri monthly increase of 15%+. If someone is on a fixed income or struggling to pay other necessary bills mortgage, utilities, insurance, kids schooling, etc., this was an unpleasant surprise esp. beginning of August 2025. I can still recommend their services, but buyer beware of this practice. The CEO makes almost 9 million this year (other big wigs probably take home a good salary) gas prices have dropped, disposal may have gone up, but they need to internally look at cost cutting, not always the consumers to foot their 'wasteful' spending imo.

Republic Services skipped our pick up on Friday, but they picked up the neighbors across the street neighbors next-door all down the street. Called Friday no reason for not picking it up. Just a simply Said they’ll be back around to pick it up truck still in the area, no one showed up, Called back no one showing up. No one showed up Saturday. Called Monday they said someone will be out before 6 PM Monday. No one showed up. Called Tuesday and explained that our trash is overflowing and even fell over and it’s in the street. Talked to a supervisor by the name of Pedro who did not care at all. Had no sense of customer service experience or relationships. He kept repeating that “we are short of workers and we may not have someone that can be out”, but they didn’t say that Friday nor did they say that Monday. Don’t waste your money paying for this service. Please use another service. This place is no good. They are trash.

I would absolutely not recommend this company for any services. 1. The representatives are not knowledgeable and will say anything they can on sales calls to get your business. 2. They give the runaround and will not escalate issues that have potential to damage the relationship. 3. I challenge an attorney or regulatory agency to review their contract process for ambiguity, ethics and overall legal standard.

From day one Republic has done nothing but over promise and under deliver on service. Their pricing is purposely vague and always ends up being more than promised. After calling about the driver’s leaving our cans in the road multiple times they still did so consistently. After we moved they owed us a credit and still found a way to take that from us and leave us with owing them a balance. I can see now why they had a net profit of over 500 million for the second quarter of 2025 alone! I thought other waste removal companies were bad, but Republic stands alone as the worst experience we have ever had. I would give them a negative minus 5 stars if possible and never plan to do business with them again.

This company is too expensive. You can't cancel online. They took money out of my account after canceling and I didn't even have auto pay on. Then they charge a fee to pick up your can. Rates kept going up a lot. More expensive than other Trash companies.. Have to wait on hold a long time to talk to somebody.

Republic's customer service is abysmal. They have missed recycle and trash pickup at Turtle Creek condos clubhouse and several homes in the complex. Tuesday is trash/recycle day, they missed us. I have called 3 times to get it picked up and they say they will and never show. Wonder how they would like it if we just didn't pay our bill. They are horrible.

I want to preface this review by saying this is entirely about Republic Services’ underhanded business practices and does not reflect on their route drivers who have generally been reliable. I know this list is long, but in three years they’ve accumulated a lot of reasons to avoid doing business with them, such as:
2. They claim to give you the absolute best price they can, but if you attempt cancellation they offer you a reduced rate. In other words, they are absolutely NOT giving you the best rate they can, so therefor are lying about their pricing. As an example, after my second yearly price increase they gave me a reduced rate that was lower than the first yearly price increase.
3. If you get a reduced rate you have to pay up front to get it, and if you decide to cancel anyway they revoke that reduction even if it’s a few weeks later. If you have autopay you will still be charged for the prior increased rate anyway because:4. When you set up autopay, the minute your invoice posts your payment is “automatically approved", so if you pay your bill prior to the scheduled autopay, you get charged again anyway (see #6). This in turn becomes a credit on your account because they don’t reverse online transactions and you have to call and request a refund, which they only do by check. Also, they apply the reduced amount as the credit, not the increased charge.
5. They still charge you when they can’t pick up due to adverse weather conditions. They also still charge you if they fail to pick up under normal conditions, and it’s up to you to call and reschedule a pick up or get a credit on your account, though that takes threat of cancellation, and they will try to use the bad weather excuse whenever they can. (see #8)
6. They claim their system takes 2-3 weeks to update, so changes to your account won’t occur until then and won’t be reflected on your invoices, and things like a cancelled autopay will still be active for that period. They also claim they can’t make changes to their automated systems, which is another lie since they definitely will update invoices and contact you immediately if you owe them money.
7. They mislead, retain, and "weaponize" information in order to counter complaints and/or shirk responsibility. There’s absolutely nothing on their website regarding any of the information outlined in this list. The only way to get this info is gradually through a series of attempted issue resolutions (see #8). Or by reading this entire review LOL!
8. During calls they implement psychological manipulation tactics, primarily in two ways: Fast, unrelenting speech with constant interruptions when you are trying to talk (steamrolling), or attempted sympathy for their daily business struggles to make it seem “personal” so you forget they are a huge, faceless corporation that banks on their customers’ ignorance and/or aversions to confounding CSR encounters. Also, it should be assumed you’ll be on hold for at least 20 minutes any time you call in.
Republic Services’ ethics are negligible at best. They are petty, deceitful, and it’s quite clear they have little regard for their customers. In my own experience, it took getting the Better Business Bureau involved to get things sorted out because they won’t work with you to resolve issues that negatively impact them financially and believe me, they cherish their money right down to the last penny. Thankfully, my bank and the BBB did the job Republic Services outright refused to do, and I was able to recover all funds owed to me. I hope if you made it through this entire diatribe it helps you in making your decision on whether or not to do business with them, to which I’d simply say, just don’t! The End.

I called about missed pickup for recycling and they lie to me about a mechanical problem with truck. The recycling is suppose be on Thurs and can even has recycling stickers on it and they come out on Friday a day late and pick up every one on my street minus mine that has been out since Thurs and this is suppose to be a mechanical problem with truck? Morrisville Borough pays for trash service included with paying taxes and why should customer have to pay 60.00 each for Republic Services residential trash and recycling trash cans?

I'm disappointed. I'm wasting my time submitting this review. Over the last two years Republic Services has missed several pickups. Today there was a large dumpster parked in front of my house and our trash cans were taken. On a Friday evening I have no way of contacting Republic Services to report the issue. It's possible I will have to wait till Monday once their call center is open again.

This is the worst company ever. They kept increasing prices constantly. Then when I wanted to cancel their service they wanted to drop my bill from 198.00 to 130.00. I still wanted to cancel due to their constant increases. Then they even charge you a 123.00 bill to cancel services. Ridiculous. No wonder they have lawsuits against them

Easily the worst experience ever trying to get some cans picked up several times. System always down, would not pick up when I finally got a date and left three empty cans picked up because the previous owners used Republic. I finally gave their cans away for free because I was sick of them sitting at my house.

When they do pick up our Condominiums two recycle bins, they are good but we have ongoing inconsistencies in it not being picked up. When reporting the problem they always either deliberately lie or rely on their incorrect records and state that they show it was picked up on such and such a date. We have security cameras to document that no such pickups have occurred and now it has been well over a week since error recycle bins were picked up and trash is overflowing even though it's scheduled every Monday and Friday.

I have just cancelled my service after 15 years. They have increased my bill by over 22% again. I called previously when they did this and miraculously it went down to 172.99. I am just tired of having to call them every time they increase the bill. The charge for removing my containers came to 126.43. $44.00 per container for removal, 18.73% the Department of Energy rate charged. 18.0% transportation charges, 9.75% state tax all for the removal of two containers they charged me. The total cost for removing two containers is $126.43. Granted the new garbage company is $45 per month and I will recover those costs quite quickly. They literally rake you over the coals at Republic.

If I could give them no stars I would. First of all they were not picking up our trash or our neighbors. We got excuses from multiple people including a manager. We're promised 3 different times they would come back and pick it up. All three times they did not pick it up. I had just paid the bill prior. I then called customer service and canceled service and ask for my refund we just paid. It is around $131.00 since services were not being rendered. It has been a month and we still have not gotten a refund. It has not been refunded to my card and no check has been sent either. Got a letter that we're refunding it but nothing else. Oh they did finally pick up the can days later than they said.
I call today and was told, "Oh you haven't gotten it. Let me put something in and it will be 2-3 weeks." I ask for management and held 30 minutes without anyone picking up. The price has more than doubled since they took over for Benfield in the Mooresville area and the service has gotten worse…some days they pick everything up including wood palates and some days they literally will throw them off to the side or on top of your bushes along with the trash cans…the price has increased and the service has gone down substantially…will be switching to a different company asap since these incidents have happened on more then 1 occasion….

Republic Trash Services has not picked up my trash since 7/24/2025. This is Monday, 8/4/25. I am a church that feeds 500 kids daily. I must have a regular pick-up. Paying over $500 a month. Also, they keep billing me the same amount even when there is no pickup.

My pickup for garbage, household recycle, and garden recycle is on Tuesdays. Household and garden recycle were not picked up last Tuesday. Called customer service Wednesday morning to request pickup. No joy. Called again Friday Morning. Now it’s Friday night and household recycle can is still full and setting in the street as is my neighbor's recycle. Customer service is worthless.

I’m very disappointed with the recycling pickup service in Davenport. My recycling was missed not once, but twice in a row. After the first missed pickup, I called customer service, spoke politely with a representative, and was told a special pickup would be scheduled for the next day. I followed all the rules — bin in the correct spot, recyclables sorted, not overflowing.
The next day came… no driver. It’s now been three days since my original pickup date, and my recycling is still sitting at the curb. I pay for this service every month as part of my utilities and expect the company to honor its commitment. This is unacceptable, especially since I’ve taken every step on my end to comply. It makes me question how many other residents are being ignored, even after reporting missed service. I urge the company to improve communication, follow‑through, and accountability. We shouldn’t have to beg for basic service we already pay for.

Possibly the worst company of all time! Fine print says it was a 3 year agreement. No mention of this anywhere. I've been a customer for 5 years. They let me know now that not only is it a 3 year agreement, it auto renews every 3 years for 3 additional years. What kind of homeowner signs a trash contract for 3 years. The reason I was canceling is they charge 60$ every time the lid of my dumpster doesn't close. They charged me coverages of 1000 over the last 9 months. They should be in prison.

Possibly the worst company I have ever dealt with. We decided to cancel their services due to frequently missed service, high prices, and sometimes picking up by mixing trash, recyclables, and yard waste in one truck. It’s incredibly hard to contact customer services, you always get the “high volume” message and can expect to wait as long as an hour plus. The people working the service lines were always cheerful and helpful in placing an internal request to solve your problems. Unfortunately, the company is not good at following through.
We cancelled our services and they provided a date on which to pick up the containers. Didn’t happen. Next week we contacted them and again they scheduled a container pick up. Didn’t happen For the third time, we called and they scheduled a pick up date. Didn’t happen. This service should only be used by people who don’t mind missed pickups and have unlimited time to spend on hold when trying to contact them.

I don’t normally have an issue with this company, however a few months back they kept taking payments out of my account and it continued to put me in the negative. I was only able to fix the situation by taking the auto pay completely off and just continuing to make payments myself. This morning the garbage man trashed my front yard and left it looking bad. It’s too hot to be out here picking up my trash off the side of the road when it should have made it into the truck. I pay for the service, why am I doing the job?

Terrible, on the business side. They not only doubled the cost of trash curb side pick up without notification, but also included other fees which brought what was promised to be around $35 monthly fee to over $100. Also, when I tried to call after business hours, the voicemail system hung up after I pressed 2 to leave a voicemail. Oh, and wanna cancel it? That's $40 so they can pick up an empty can that already had a fee when we started the service to have it delivered. Are you kidding?

I received my new invoice 7/18/25, it stated that my bill was $131.44 (WAS $101.12 a month). So because of the pricing increase/hard to contact/and a 3 year contract end/and no follow up from account manager, I started looking around. I found a Local company, that was cheaper with "No contracts-surcharges-fuel charges, and they only raise 3% every January" and it's all up front, sounded great, and they were local! So, On 7/22/25 I called to cancel my service, Cierra emailed me the forms, I filled them out, and was told our account manager Lauri would call us.
When that call came, We were told, that if we had wanted to cancel our contract (REMEMBER WE SIGNED A 3 YEAR CONTRACT) that we had to give 60-180 days notice, And that it had to be done 60-120 days before our 3 year contract was up, So because we didn't know that, and was not made aware of that per our account, our last 3 year contract has now rolled over into a new 3 year contract. Guess they have a "ROLL OVER CLAUSE" in the fine print, we don't believe this was explain to us when signing the contract.
But now that the contract has rolled over, we now have 2 choices: 1. Put up with them for another 3 year contract, and send a cancellation asap for the rollover clause or 2. We can pay Penalties, per our account manager. Oh, and she states, she wants to work with us and be up front....Mmmm, DO YOU WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH THIS TYPE OF COMPANY? I DON'T!

Republic Services is a horrible company and takes advantage of their customers. I've been their customer for several years in Manitou Springs, CO because we aren't given a choice in our trash service and are required to use a single service for the whole town. In June, I temporarily moved out of the area and needed to put my trash/recycling service on seasonal hold.
I attempted to access the website and it wouldn't let me log in from outside of the US. I was able to use a VPN to log in, but that shouldn't be necessary, if I wasn't a computer person, I wouldn't have been able to log in at all and there are other ways to secure a website without simply blocking all non-US access (people do go on vacation from time to time and of course, I didn't know this would be an issue before leaving) - worse, the blocking process they used didn't even give me access to a phone number to call without logging in, so I wouldn't have been able to call to put my account on seasonal hold.
Once I logged in, I submitted my request for a seasonal hold (in June). I did not receive any confirmation of my request or confirmation that the hold was put in place. I waited a few weeks to see if it was a processing issue and then received a notice that I was being billed for the next 3 months of service! So I tried again to put the account on seasonal hold on July 5th. This time, I received an email confirmation of my request and it indicated it was being "processed" but I never received any confirmation that the hold was in place.
I have since accepted an offer on the house and now need to sell it. I called today and they said that I couldn't cancel my account while it is on seasonal hold and I couldn't take it off of seasonal hold until August 9th, a month after the hold started on July 9th (yes, it took them 4 days to process the hold request). I then asked if I could call on August 9th to cancel the account and was told that according to their policy, I had to continue paying for the account through the end of August because they only cancel accounts at the end of the month.
So I sell my house on August 8th, I'll then have to call them to cancel the account on August 10th, but I will have to pay for trash pickup through the end of August. That is absolutely ridiculous!! Also, during my moveout process, I asked to have a few extra bags picked up and called to let them know - they charged me double for the bags (I was told $5 per bag but was charged $10 per bag).

Worst service for trash ever. Missed service days often and after years of tolerating it I finally canceled. Told to me I would get a refund for no trash pickup for over 2 weeks and bugs and flies all over the trash. I canceled and they finally came to pickup and then billed me after cancellation for a special pickup and trash container removal!! Charges were more than the monthly charge. BEWARE AND ALERT WITH THIS CONTRACT!!

We've had this company for years, never had an issue until last year, then it seemed like every week, we would get a warning that it would be picked up the following day, still not picked up. Talk to customer service, I want a credit. She says you can't have both, definitely not worth the headache if they will not pick up your trash, I have no idea how they're still in business! After 25 years of service they went from five star down to not even a one star. In my opinion move on, check the other trash services and I would also negotiate your bill... But please do not give them your money or your time.

When we moved to our new house three years ago, I switched to Republic Services. Previously, we had used the service provider chosen by the city of Fort Wayne, as it was included in our taxes. Our new home was outside the city limits, so I opted for Republic Services. Their price seemed a little high initially, but I went with them without checking other service providers. That was a mistake. The price started at $179.74 for a three-month period. It stated that way for 9 months before moving to $218. Then, they moved it to $267.15 for three months. When I called to cancel due to the price, they stated that no discounts were put on my account. They were going to lower it to $180 for three months. Check with other providers than Republic. They will continually try to put your price up higher. They are the highest; everyone else in the Fort Wayne area is less expensive.

Since June 6th, 2025, we have cancelled our services with the company. The increase in cost went up $154.83 since May 2024-May 2025. After contacting numerous times to ask for an explanation, calling to finally cancel, it has been nothing but a headache. I was told to give a 30-day notice and then told it's actually a 60-day notice. As of, July 17th 2025, the trash receptacle is still on our property. I highly recommend going with Waste Management if you are able to. Their cost are a third of what Republic Services is.

This company was pretty much awful from the onset. Their driver crashed into a tree and crushed a security camera on one of his very first visits. Then after we paid $25K to have roads put in, he couldn't seem to stay on the roads. Kept driving off the roads, rutting up our new graded ground and got mud literally everywhere. When picking up trash, most of it would fly out of the bin and he would just leave it blowing all around the property. They had some goons from their half-rate insurance company review my claim for repair and they denied it, saying and property damage by their drivers is the responsibility of the homeowner. SO they can come on our property, drive recklessly, damage whatever they want on our dime. I repeatedly asked them to fix the damage and stop causing further damage and it fell on deaf ears. I'm passing this off to our attorney to handle at this point. This company is a full-on joke.

Today, July 15, 2025, my trash bin was the only one that was not picked up in my entire neighborhood. WHY??? Why is my trash being singled out? Why am I being denied service? My account is serviced by Republic Services office located in Las Vegas, Nevada. On 2 occasions, I had to call their office because of missed pick-up. As a customer in good standing, I have the right to expect and be given the standard of service that should be given to ALL Republic Services customers. Unfortunately, based on my review of customer complaints filed by Republic Services customers, this company is characterized by several detrimental factors, such as poor management, lack of accountability, sub-standard customer service, lack of empathy and concern to their customers' needs, etc. And the list goes one.
So, what will it take for Republic Services to transform their business and provide quality service to their customers? Send an email to the company's CEO? File a formal complaint with proper federal and state consumer protection agencies regarding the disservice to Republic Services customers? File a class action lawsuit against this company?

They canceled my account after I paid them, I paid to set up another sacking. Was told they would pick up the trash and bring me a new bin on the specific date of my regular pick up. Trash was not picked up and new bin was not delivered. I called and was told they would only pick up 5 bags of trash max from the curb and a new bin would be delivered later in the day. Neither has happened and now I will be going to a new company and still have weeks worth of trash that needs to be picked up. This company is the worst.

Impossible to reach, ended up paying for an extra month because they were impossible to get in contact with to cancel due to their terrible phone system. They also didn't pick up old bins on time. Always go with an alternative over these guys.

I live in Mooresville NC and recently they have changed companies for waste pickup. I know I have Republic Services and let me tell you they are horrible. Garbage gets picked up once a week and every week there is a two hour delay, it’s kinda ironic how I don’t have much choice to have another company to pick up my trash and the one company I have can’t even stick to schedule… 1.3 stars for a company is horrendous and whom ever owns this company should be ashamed. It’s always the same excuse unforeseen circumstances, you would think after so many unforeseen circumstances you would foresee one and fix the issue but no they not. Republic services is trash all pun intended!

After 45 min on hold transfer to the wrong department, another 20 min on hold. Finally hung up. Customer service rep is a joke. No one to help, they are happy to raise your rates and have you pay for fuel they are using.

My pickup is Friday. If a holiday is on or near that day, they skip me for a week, even after phone calls to customer service and they say, "We'll get it tomorrow." Never happens until the following Friday and my trash container is absolutely full.

Been with this company (with no other meaningful alternatives) for a decade and a half. Went from paying ~$200/quarter to more than $700 PER QUARTER. Suddenly! No reason! We assumed this was a billing mistake but when we've called and written, we've basically been told to suck it. They say they are under no obligation to honor the rate issued to us in March, there is no contract and we are welcome not to use them. This is not across-the-board in my area either. There are 4 homes on my property. 2 have had this increase, 2 have not.

Terrible customer service. Holiday week so was told Saturday they would pickup. Nope! Then told can put bags out due to no pickup on Saturday with regular pick up on Tuesday. Nope. I call this company a month ago to have some brush picked up!! They lied to me every time about the date that they would be out! I had about 3 yards of brush to be picked up! I also called before they changed the rules from 6 yards of brush to 2 yards! After about 20 times of calling them I emailed the city manager, I magically get a email within 10 minutes. Some sales rep named Rick, he told me from the video it look like I had about 6 to 8 feet of brush put out! He made every ridiculous excuse in the world, he also told me he wasn’t in front of a computer and was on vacation! I pay a monthly service for you to pick up my trash and brush!! So he told me anything over 2 yards would be an extra charge! They are using a video to measure your yardage!
I also called before the rule change!! I have 3 yards of brush so they will pick up 2 yards and charge me for the 1 yard or they can come back for the 1 yard the next week!! Totally hilarious!! They have this big truck with huge claws on them and can pick up only 2 yards out of 3 yards!! I don’t think the City of Rowlett should renew their contract!

This company is horrible. I recently cancelled my residential trash pickup because the rates have become incredible in my area. When I called to cancel the service, prior to my next quarterly bill, the customer service rep told me they could lower my rate by almost 50% (from $350 per quarter to about $180 per quarter). I asked why Republic was charging me the higher rate if they can offer me the new one. I was told that accounts are evaluated on an individual basis when customers call in. Horrible. I also cancelled my autopay online—again prior to my quarterly renewal. Would you believe the autopay came out anyway? This company took my money after I cancelled the service. I was told that I would have to pay about $80.00 to have my container picked up. I was fine with that. Instead, they took my next quarter's bill. I cannot say enough bad about this company. Run far away from it if you can.

I reside in Lorain and I'm having constant issues with bulk item pickups. Today 7/7/25 bulk workers refused to pick up a sofa we put outside, they drove right by it. I see many homes with tons of furniture on the curb and they get picked up. I'm getting sick and tired of these ** passing my house. It's like they pick and choose. My tax $$$ are going to waste on this pathetic company and useless workers. Want this issue resolved.

Very disrespectful employee was very rude, we have been a customer for 9 years, they have picked up our dumpsters at 3-4 all of a sudden without notice. They come at 7:00 am. The employee was combative, rude, I’m not saying I’m always right but respectful, denied me a supervisor I will cancel service.

I was using Rocky Mountain Sanitation for years before Republic Service took over our account since they took it over. Our bill has increased multiple times a year. Their drivers have decided to use our driveway to back up and turn around which has caused me to add more gravel to the entrance of my driveway multiple times a year. The last straw was they changed out my dumpster for a dumpster that is half the size and have decided to argue with me that I have always had a 2 yard dumpster instead of a 4 yard dumpster and tried to tell me they have been charging me for a 2 yard dumpster even though my bill has increased by almost double of what it was when they took over.
When calling to try to figure out what has happened I was told my name wasn’t on the account then I was told that I always had a 2 yard dumpster and now I’m told I have to send an email to be able to cancel services and they will not cancel until the end of the month so that they can charge me for another month of services. I do not want the account manager chose to laugh at me when I tried to voice my concerns and explain that I have a specific spot for the dumpster that is outlined and that the dumpster is literally half the size. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone.

Since my husband & I bought our house in 2001, we have used Republic Services for garbage pickup. Back then, it was around $60 every 3 months. I have always paid the bill without question even as the price steadily increased. By August 2023, the quarterly bill had gotten up to $196! I just kept paying without question, assuming my neighbors were paying as much with the services they use. Until now! After receiving a bill for $248, I reviewed my bills from 08/2023 - 05/2025 and noticed that each bill included a fuel and environmental recovery fee of over $60. I texted my neighbor and asked how much she pays for her service with C & M. She said $57! I asked, “You mean per month?” She said, “No, per quarter.”
I immediately called Republic Services to cancel my contract! I was on hold for about 30 minutes before a representative answered the call. They tried to keep me by dropping the rate to $108/mo! When I told them I wanted to cancel immediately, they advised me that they were going to charge me a fee to come get the can! I got off the phone, called C & M and will now only pay a flat fee of $57 per quarter with no hidden fees! They give discounts for seniors over age 62 and to military veterans. I wish I had talked to my neighbor long time ago!!! After posting on social media, so many of my followers said that they use C & M rather than Republic and are very pleased with the service.

Absolutely the WORST company we've ever had. Never seen our town so united as they were in their hate for this money-grabbing disgrace of a company. They bought out the prior company (who was fabulous for decades) and assumed their contract and within a month every week trash was all over the streets cause they were too lazy to dump the barrels into the truck (they'd kick them in the streets and leave the trash that fell out) and broke barrels constantly. The worst was when they failed to pick up trash or recycle, so it sat in the rain all day and after multiple residents called, they came two days later, only to pick up wet boxes of recycle and have the contents fall out and then they LEFT them all over the sidewalks.
We called nearly daily and each time spoke to nice service agents who promised they'd be back same day or next day, but no one ever showed - and the soggy magazines made for a super hazardous sidewalk, resulting in multiple falls and devastating, life-altering injury. They didn't care. They never came and cleaned up the mess THEY created - even the next week, when they came by, they failed to clean up or take away or do anything about the mess they single-handedly created. Neighbors eventually had to clean it up because, unlike them, we have basic human decency and didn't want anyone else to be severely injured. I have never in my life witnessed the degree of incompetency that this company brings to their "work". I have told everyone I know to RUN and never let their towns and cities engage with such a deplorable disgrace of a company. Their lack of humanity and basic care and consideration was appalling.
People went through so many high-quality barrels because of their abuse. They were also rude and obnoxious, blocking streets completely unnecessarily while they kicked barrels around for absolutely no reason. Once the town notified them that their contract wasn't being renewed, they just stopped picking up trash and recycle all together with no notice. Thankfully, our town contract is finally up and our town is full of top-tier attorneys that are volunteering services to go after them for their complete disregard for their contractual obligations and violation of numerous fair business practices laws.

Yard waste pickup missed. Promises made to pickup missed. Collection broken. It seems that customer service representatives have no communication with those in charge of pickups. Price for service is too high when you consider their performance and comparison with other similar providers.

1. BIN SIZE: Compared to competitors in the area, the bins, specifically recycle, are a fraction of the size.
2. PRICE: We paid Republic approximately $200 per quarter for over 3 years (possibly more as I don't have records further back). The competitor is coming in at $100 per quarter for 1 year and then $120 after that. WOW! I save $400 year 1 and $320 each subsequent year.
3. RECYCLE: Republic no longer picks up glass in our area. Competitors do.
4. PICK-UP DAYS: Republic requires trash on one day and recycle on another making such that we have bins on the street multiple days a week. Competitors offer pick up on the same day reducing clutter and the inconvenience of hauling bins on multiple days.
5. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I've been on hold over 1 hour multiple times to talk to a person. Competitors offer a human on initial answer or after menu selections. Republic does not invest in existing customers nor their concerns.
6. WEBSITE: The website does not support the same functionality as calling customer service. For example, we were not able to cancel our service nor change the service in my name. We had to talk to a rep which took multiple attempts and multiple hours (yes hours) on the phone.
7. QUESTIONABLE PRACTICES: To change the account from my husband's name to my name we had to cancel and restart service which cost a fee. When we cancelled the services, we were charged a $25 fee to pick up the bins.
SUMMARY: Double the price for 1/2 the service with no investment in existing customers and questionable business practices.

I paid my bill April 2025. I called a few days later to cancel my services because I found somewhere cheaper. I was told I would get a refund. I paid $87.85. So I called them today because I still haven’t received a refund and they told me that my refund amount was $10.83 because they choose to use a third-party carrier to drop off and pick up trash cans which you have to pay for. The company I went with I didn’t have to pay for my trashcan so basically my $87.85 was all kept by Republic trash services even though I had canceled my service. Now if you ask me, I feel like they have literally stolen my money from me because I was told I would receive a refund $10, doesn’t add up when I paid $87.85. Very bad company. Do not recommend.

I went out a bit ago to bring my bins back to their 'resting' spots, went out the door and they were sitting there.. As a small business with an estate clean out company, we have a lot of items that need disposed of. We have weekly pick up and have a team that we work with at Republic for the business. We have had really good experience with our account managers in the past, but all have transferred or left. Our new account manager, Tenisha ** has been, by far one of the best. She has followed through with all of our requests right away. She is friendly, eager to please and does her job well. I hope she sticks and stays!!

0 stars if I could. They promised to pick up 2x a day. Trash truck will not pick up the trash can if I place the can on my curb due him just picking up the front neighbor's side only. It is a dead end and he only come in reverse which I was not told that at the beginning when I open up service. All they do is schedule missed pick up and the driver never comes and it repeats. The front neighbor now parks in his front ditch and there nowhere to place the can. Horrible service!

Worst customer service ever. They have plenty of resources available to take our money but can't can't keep a pick up schedule. Everyone wants to apologize but nothing gets fixed. Customer service is worthless and cannot guarantee missed pick ups and will tell you anything to get you off the phone. Poor communication. In this area we are forced to use their service or pay a fee not to use it. Their staffing issues are not my problem. Poor management and planning on their part. Do not expect this company to provide a reliable service.

We have made three attempts to cancel our service contract as we have SOLD our home. After speaking to FOUR reps, two who assured us that the account was cancelled/closed, we received an invoice for service one month after the home was SOLD. We have had a $90+ credit on our account and now it has been whittled down to $17. It is beyond the realm of understanding as to how the words CANCEL and SEASONAL HOLD mean the same thing. As of this writing, we now have to repeat the process of starting the service and then "cancelling" the service. We are now committed to make another phone call to Republic to review the process, confirm the "cancellation," and then work to get our credit refunded to us in a timely manner. This account should have been CANCELLED two months ago not put on seasonal hold. As a result, the new owner of the home is unable to start their own account.

Horrible customer service! After MANY price increases, almost impossible to cancel service. Wrote on bill & mailed before due. Sent an email which said to call. Called & was told that I would be billed for current month since it has begun, even though I had no service and 67.00 charge to pick up container. Unbelievable!!

I recently cancelled Republic Services after 20 long years. During those 20 years, I put trash out and they picked. I never had to deal with their customer service which is a bunch of back stabbing liars that I found out after interacting with them. My bill suddenly went over $92 and when I called, I was told that my HOA had signed and agreement to raise rates. I got in touch with HOA, and they told me, in writing that they did not sign a contract with Republic Services. I called again, twice and two more different CSR said the same thing. I paid, and at the same time told them to cancel my services.
I knew they will charge me whole month, even though I was serviced only once. Well, they charged me two months of service + $45 to retrieve their trash can. Now my account shows I need to pay another $14.52 to make balance zero. So, I called again and CSR apologized and told me this is how their accounting works, but assured me she will waive $14.52. Well, that was a lie too. My bank was charged again. I know times are tough for everyone but a company of this magnitude will play this type of low behavior, I never expected that. I am so glad I don't have to deal with this kind of customer service any more and wish no one else have to go through this either.

Been a long-time customer, but that will change soon. Our pay as you throw service was discontinued in the middle of the year with little notice. Letter received to that effect had no instructions as to where to send the remaining tickets or what they are worth. Took three phone calls to find out where to send them, still don’t know what our refund will be. Customer service seems pretty clueless about the whole issue, but had no problem collecting a down payment for next quarter with a significant rate increase. Will be looking for a different service provider for sure once the ticket reimbursement has been resolved.

I had a missed pickup on Wednesday. It was re-scheduled for the following Monday. I called and was told it was put on Tuesday. My recycle is still sitting on the curb. I called back at 3:30pm and the guy on the line stated, you have a pick up tomorrow. I told him it's overflowing because I did not get a pick up last Wednesday. You can't track the truck and they won't call the driver to make sure I'm on their missed pick up list. It's a run around. I miss BestWay trash company. They were on it!!!! This company took over. Time to shop for a new company

Missed pickup. Said they would be out next day - a no show, then said they would be out the next day. Also a no show. Then said they were on their way and will be there shortly. 4 days later they still haven't showed up. They lie and customer service people don't care and I can hardly understand them. Sounds like they are from another country, I won't be their customer much longer. Someone should get fired.

Company is absolutely terrible with actually picking up the trash when it's scheduled. They have missed picking up my recycling over 50% of the time and have continued to drop the bins on the road after they picked them up. Repeatedly have had to call in for missed pickups multiple days in a row. If you have any other options for waste disposal you should definitely use someone other than Republic's trash company.

We've had nothing but headaches and unreliable service with Republic for the last 2 years. We left Republic due to similar issues in the past. We switched over to a smaller company who was promptly bought out by another larger scale outfit who then decided to no longer serve our area. We reluctantly switched back to Republic. In the last 6 months, We've had 2 different 4 week stretches where we get cancelled due to truck and staffing issues. We live near a watershed, and the whole neighborhood has had issues with animals (bear, raccoons, etc...) ripping into the waste that's piling up. When they promise they're coming, then you return home to find a mess of trash you need to again re-bag, it's quite frustrating. We call weekly and all we get is "we're so sorry to hear!"

The lady at the scale has always been extremely disrespectful, not very polite, very unchristian like. There are a few staff that work here that are professional but I would definitely stay away from this place just because of the way they treat people.

I live on a private gravel drive with no turn around. A few months ago (after 5 years of service) the recycling truck decided to start coming at 6 am, backing the entire length of the drive, beeping the entire way (4 homes on road). I work evenings and called to request them to come after 7, called 3x and they keep promising me they will request a route/time change, but nothing. I understand they are legally allowed to come at 6, but it seems strange and unnecessary they need to start the day with my tiny drive.. It wouldn't be a problem if I didn't work nights, and cannot get back to sleep making it difficult to function that day/night at my job. An inconsiderate driver with zero common sense. Canceling service and taking garbage and recycling to work... It’s a shame most of us are stuck with this service due to area availablity of options..

Never again will I use Republic Services. Inconsistent billing. Dumpster swapped for no reason for a charge. Pickups more than agreed to. Suspension and charge our Account. Then remove the dumpster within a few days. Constantly having to call to get the bill adjusted and it’s still not right. If they zero our balance, return the dumpster and straighten the account out I will keep them. If not going with another company. My time is valuable as theirs. Not the rep's fault. Something with the computer billing I guess. Rep is friendly.

If I could give zero stars I would. Called to order a dumpster for a house clean out. Called the number on Google and was routed to a CSR at one of the 3 nationwide call centers. The person generated a contract and an invoice. The dumpster was ordered 8 days in advance. Friday, May 30th arrived and late in the afternoon I learned there was no dumpster at the house. The CSR at the call center did not do what was needed to get the dumpster ordered and on the schedule. I called Friday afternoon around 3:15 CST. After waiting in the queue for about 15 minutes, I selected for a call back. It is now Monday afternoon and no call back. Hmmm.
Advice to the public is don't order a dumpster from a call center CSR. Ask for the local person that (actually) knows what they are doing to schedule to dumpster. I had 6 people scheduled for Saturday May 31st. We were without a dumpster. I called again at approximately 12:30 pm and no one has called back and it is around 1 pm. Now I am out over $400 and still have a large amount of waste to deal get removed.

We found a cheaper alternative and have been trying for three months to cancel our service. They pick up and empty and empty dumpsters, emails go round and round in circles and they keep billing us for service we have cancelled. Have never been so frustrated in our lives! And when you try to call them they put you on hold forever - pass you on from one department to the other with no resolution. Avoid them if possible.

The trash man is ridiculous. I was trying to get my son to school and couldn't get past the truck until it moved up because of cars. That's fine. I don't mind waiting for practical issues. But, I do mind waiting for an employee to do pull-ups on an outside gym instead of moving trash bags out of the way. He was just goofing off and talking to his partner who was working. Then he was rude and tells me he couldn't lift heavy trash bags and walk the 5 steps to put them in the truck. He had to wait for the truck to be at his feet. He should have lifted the bags instead of doing the pull-ups. And if I could have lifted the bags, so could he. If he can't, why is he a trash man? I have much respect for them. It's a very crappy job. He chose to do it for whatever reasons. But, a little customer consideration and courtesy would have been doing his job.

This company used to be really good, with calls when service would be later in the day or delayed. That has all changed. Website said no changes to service for Memorial Day week. Yard waste and recycling each delayed by a day. That would be okay, but not communicated properly. The week of May 12th, trash not picked up. No notification, explanation, etc. Just left there. A phone message and request for pickup was ignored. Trash picked up May 8th and not again until May 22nd. Of course, May 8th was when a large item taking up more than half the can was placed in there AFTER pickup and then no collection for two weeks. I wish our city would change to someone that actually does their job.

Updated on 06/04/2025: After I wrote a scathing review describing how Republic failed to deliver a dumpster on the day required, charged us over $700 anyway and said initially they had no record of our order the company contacted me. Their idea of a fix? To offer me $40 and claim we owe them $109. !!!!! How is it possible to get this much wrong? I have a credit card charge from Republic for a one-week dumpster rental despite the fact we didn’t even get a full week because they….forgot? Do not hire this company. We have another dumpster rental and are choosing a local competitor— they are SO MUCH BETTER.
Original Review: Do not hire this company. Two different calls resulted in vastly different prices quoted. The dumpster did not arrive on the day we required it, causing our crew to wait around for nothing. Multiple phone calls later they did not have a record of our order, even though our credit card had already been charged for it. Then they had no record of the location where the dumpster needed to be placed despite us calling multiple times to tell them. Throughout the process, we were assured we would get calls back and we never did. The dumpster finally arrived a day late. We were told we could get a partial refund and that never happened. More phone calls by us — No replies. Terrible terrible customer service.

They keep on missing my road 3 times for 3 weeks since I moved here. The people on the phone are nice but the dumpster people are horrible. They just look and ignore my trash can, I'm like about done. This is ridiculous

Odd business model, Republic Services has: "Take the money, DO NOT TAKE THE TRASH"!!! Yeah, not pleased with the service. Two weeks of the truck driving by my can, and when I call, I am told, well, we'll pick it up next Monday.. (With the can being out thru the weekend, animals get into it, and drag the trash around the street.) Uh, no. When I call to complain, I get the usual overseas people answering the phone, and of course, the apologies flow, but the trash is not picked up. Asking for a regional manager goes nowhere. (sorry.) They have an code of ethics and conduct, but it seems to be mere words on paper. I assume the leadership just sits in the big window corner office and count the money, and don't really care bout the customer. Bottom line: Find another provider for your trash and recycling pickup.

Trash was not picked up because can was overfilled. When I called, I was told that there were "multiple" door hangers that I was notified that the can has been overfilled which is not true. I have never received any written or voice notification of the can being overfilled. In fact, there are several houses in the area that have their can just as filled as min was.
When speaking with the local agent, Gladys states that the "doorhangers" were put on the trash can, not my door. I explained that if I never received any notification of a problem, how would I know to change anything? She states that someone would come to do a pick the following day if I removed the extra items. The requested pick up never happened. When I reported the missed pick up, the customer service sent an email with my can from the day prior stating it was overfilled. I have made timely payments for 4 years. I would think that if there were a problem, the company would be respectful enough to communicate it as opposed to declining service.

I used to own two businesses, one in Mount Holly NJ and one in Philadelphia. The 40 yd dumpster pickup in Philadelphia has been very reliable. Pickups occur when scheduled and the container is returned the same day. Container rental is reasonable, and containers we have used are in good shape. A word about accounts receivable in a minute. Service in New Jersey was awful. We could not obtain regular pickups on an 8 yard dumpster. Construction debris would sometimes be scattered in the parking lot, and Republic would try to charge us extra if they did not fully empty the dumpster and had to be called back. We replaced them with Waste Management and have not experience similar problems.
I recently had an odd experience regarding Philadelphia accounts receivable (which is apparently located in Mt. Laurel, NJ). I received a bill dunning notice listing two invoices as being overdue. I had paid one of the invoices some ten days earlier, and the second "overdue" invoice was not due for another five days (yes, we manage our payments closely). I wrote a somewhat rude email to the Republic accounts receivable email they sent me. Rather than acknowledging the dunning notice was in error, the CSR wrote me back stating I was unprofessional, obviously had low self-esteem, and needed to work on finding some joy in life. She concluded by stating she would pray for me. Regardless of whether I need to find more joy in life (and whether her prayers would be beneficial or not!), I would have preferred a simpler email simply acknowledging they made a mistake and will try to do better in the future. Anyway, it was a weird email exchange. Our contract in Philadelphia expires on June 30th. I will not be renewing...mainly because I don't need any grief of any kind with my waste hauling company.

As a small business, I face a lot of struggles having to coordinate deliveries, especially during holidays. I have weekly services to be picked up on Fridays. Due to the holiday weekend, one of my vendors had to deliver a day earlier to stay on schedule, Just drop off towels and aprons. The Republic driver, I guess showed up during the maybe 5 minutes that the vendor was delivering and just left. A simple “Hey, just need to grab the trash really quick” would have gone so far! No courtesy whatsoever. Garbage wasn’t picked up at all, which I’ll still be charged for. My garage is now overflowing and they want to charge me $182 to pick it up or I can wait till my next pickup and pay the $52 for the overage on top of the weekly price. By far the worst customer service ever!!

At 700 dollars for a dumpster rental, the least they could do is give you a notice of dumpster removal. Looked out the window early in the morning, gone. Dumpster gone. Still had junk in yard to throw out. I'm not sure anyone at Republic has ever sold a home. Chaos. With todays tech, a "heads up, were coming to get that dumpster tomorrow", text, would have been great. Now, instead of the 10 dollar a day overage, I'm forced to rent a new one to finish the job. Your customer service is VERY lacking....

Republic Services has been incredibly frustrating to deal with. Our trash pickup is missed almost every week, and despite numerous complaints, they refuse to resolve the issue or offer any real solutions. It’s unacceptable for a company to charge for a service they regularly fail to provide. I do not recommend Republic Services to anyone looking for reliable waste removal.

Every week on Monday my trash is out and they never take it. I pay 90$ to and never get service. I have to go to public works every Monday and let them know they didn't take my trash. My trash is included with water so it's not like I can't pay it so I'm pay and not getting so damn service. Horrible. Wouldn't recommend them at all. We had another company before that. Did good. We need them back. This is ridiculous!!!!

Have been a customer for 50+ years. Used them for my business. When my business sold, they treated me like complete trash, guess why they are in this space, and it was an absolute nightmare to deal with them. I will never use them again and will be shutting down all my other accounts with them.

I have reported this to the garbage drivers and called the company 3 times to replace this can because the lids don't work or have been damaged. They have done nothing to correct this matter for months. It seems they only care about receiving payment vs. having a fictional product that contains trash properly.

I’ve had Republic Services for years. Each time I signed a contract, within 2-3 months, the price would increase. In September, I got a price change and 2 months later price increase. Now that I want to cancel my service, they want to charge me for liquidation damages (6-month fee). $1588 to be exact. Since they say I am breaking contract but they actually made the contract null when they increase my price 2 months later. Oh, but they have given me a credit now for each month they overcharged me. Beware of their practices.

Avoid this company if at all possible. I would pay twice as much for a trash hauler that actually picked up when contracted to do so and did not make repeated billing errors. Our town contracts with them, so I have no choice. If you, too, are forced to go with them, be prepared to spend hours on the phone correcting their billing mistakes, during the workday of course, and to end up paying more than claimed, and to have your trash sitting out repeatedly because of missed days. Reps are superficially pleasant but will not or cannot get the job done; one said to me, after a clear mistake, "well, I can't take responsibility for another rep's actions."

My trash pickup was missed while others on my street had their garbage picked up. My wife and I made attempts to get the pickup scheduled prior to our next regular pickup day rolling around again. We were told several times that it would be picked up that day. Never happened. We live in a rural area and bears are looking for food constantly. Why lie to us about some fictitious pick-up that won't happen. Just tell us that we have to wait for the next scheduled pickup day and I would remove the container and additional bags that were left out to be removed. Terrible way to conduct business.

Horrible customer service and do not stand by their obligations. After ordering a 20-yard dumpster and requesting the pick-up date during the initial phone call I was told it was not an issue. The dumpster ended up being removed at the end of the day prior to when requested which then caused our real estate agent to reschedule pictures of our home. On top of all this when the dumpster was delivered the driver did not use the wood on the driveway to place the dumpster and left scratches in the concrete along with blocking the street for over an hour while waiting on another driver to arrive and show him how to correctly unload the dumpster. Republic Services took no responsibility and offered no discount or nothing in return. Look elsewhere before using this company.

I hired Republic in mid-September when I moved into our new house in Haymarket, VA. I signed the contract and was given a service start date, but Republic never showed. I called and they apologized and promised to send someone. They never showed!. Between September and November, Republic picked my trash twice and each time a week late. So. I canceled in mid-November 2024 and I was told that my service would end by the end of the month and the bins would be picked up on December 9, 2024.
The recycling bin was picked up in January 2025, and the blue trash bin has been on the street waiting to be picked up since December 9, 2024. I called repeatedly but nothing happened. They would promise to pick it up, even give me a date and confirmation number, but nothing ever happened! And yet, Republic still sends me bills and invoices for services they NEVER RENDERED!! This is a trashy company that should not be allowed to collect trash in VA!

Was overpaying by $800 a year, compared to a local company. When I called they were willing to drop the bill almost $200 a quarter. (After weaving through the call center for 25 min). Equally offensive. Then charged me $75 to pick up the bins. Couldn’t get through to dispute this after calling three different times and being on hold for over a half hour each time. I just gave up. Sent several emails to customer care. Rarely responded and the one time they did, no action was taken. I told them I would run a campaign to expose them. I handed out 23 flyers in my neighborhood. All 23 are switching. I just cost them $41,400 dollars and I am just getting started. That took me 30min of my time. I am only doing this on the principle of the matter. With social media, now the little guy that has no power base - can fight back. Game on! See attached letter, and my first three bins I attached it to.

The cost of setting up any account and service with this company is insane. I've never used this company before. I was charged $45 for delivery of my garbage can, they charged me for 12 weeks of service upfront, the additional fees we're also through the roof. I had questions about my bill and when I tried to call, I was placed on hold for over 20 minutes, so I tried chat and that was also a long wait time. I finally sent an email to their support center and was emailed back that I had to call them about my account. Now, I'll be paying another $45 for them to pick up their garbage can because I'm no longer going to use this service. Absolutely ridiculous.

Beware before using Republic Services. They will charge you a hefty fee for delivering containers when you start service and another $53 each container fee for pick up if you cancel. They will continually raise your rates. I was being billed about $280 a quarter when local service quoted me $90. They will negotiate lower price but still not match. Service was reliable but got expensive in 2 yrs time. This info is in writing so they are not dishonest but just beware of their gouging practices and know how they operate their billing and be prepared for their fee increases and side charges.

If you have Commercial accounts STAY AWAY FROM REPUBLIC. The only trash company that doesn't weigh any of loads but charge you overages. Constantly make excuses on pickups, drivers are so unpleasent. The billing side is horrendous. If you have a few hours to try and sort it out. GOODLUCK! Don't say I didn't warn you.

In the last months we went on the handicapped service. My wife and I have health issues. Since this has started my bride has had to call close to 30 times for lack of service. Normally our main trash gentleman is a rock star. The recyclables person is another story. What prompted today was the gentleman (I don't believe our regular) took out the trash and dumped quite a bit in the street. Normally would've called and waited the established 30-35 minute hold time, but there was broken glass. We cleaned it up because we care about our neighbors and didn't want to wait until someone experienced a financial loss. I'm sure this would've been a battle with who ultimately is liable.

Republic Trash service literally is “Garbage”!! I have had my can out by the road for numerous days and the driver whatever his problem is refuses to grab my trash, but gets everybody else’s that lives on the block. I have constantly called their customer service line and they keep telling me that they will forward this to the supervisor and I never get a freaking call back and they fail miserably to resolve this issue! I would not recommend this service to anybody!!! The lady that I recently talked to on the phone kept telling me that she’s gonna follow up with it and that they were gonna grab my trash today and when I got home, the trash was still there so now not only is Republic trash taking or should I say stealing my money but they’re not providing the services of picking up my dang trash! If I could, I would rate this company a zero out of five!

Updated on 05/14/2025: I've responded as requested. The result? Another email asking for EVEN MORE money?!? This company has absolutely lost it. Extortion. They responded on here asking for my personal information so they could make it right and the response was to send me a new invoice with more charges? What?!?! I WISH I could add attachments so that everyone could see each invoice growing and growing for each time they decide my calling them out ended in them demanding more money. Wow.
Original Review: Our dumpster was never emptied on a regular schedule, which we were often charged for overfill when it was emptied late. The driver would lie about coming to empty our dumpster and we would have to bed for another driver to come and empty it as it would be full and we'd have nowhere to place our trash (we are a small but busy small business). We finally became fed-up and attempted to have our dumpster removed to cancel the service, which now 6 WEEKS into attempting to cancel, the dumpster is still here, and we have not received our "cancellation package" but are receiving threats to pay our LATE fees which are still growing by the day. We have already had 6 perfect pickups from the new company. Do NOT use this company.

I had a terrible interview process. They set up an interview and it got rescheduled multiple times. One time being while I was in the parking lot. This was by far the worst interview process I’ve ever experienced.

Every year, Republic Waste tries to increase my rate. This year was the worst. In May of 2024, I was charged $61.39 for 3 months of service. In May 2025, they wanted to charge me $94.86 for 3 months. That's an increase of $33.47 and 55%. That is outrageous and a clear example of corporate greed. I have been a loyal customer since 2003. They don't care about your customers, just money. They offered me a measly $2 off per month. That is pitiful and I canceled their service. I was told I had to pay for all of May, but they could pick up my cart any day for $47. I want services up until the day I am forced to pay obviously. It doesn't cost them $47 to pick up a trash cart. Highly dissatisfied.

Called to explain and request the best way to take care of an account of father passing and fee charged due to the bank did not allow payment to go through; however new bank account was set up; and fees paid prior to this call. Republic contact stated, "sorry for your loss," and due to the account holder being deceased (and this was told to me about 15 times during the conversation) the account must be closed and the can will be picked up; advised I still live at the address and then was told - account will be closed because account holder is deceased and new account to be set up; had to pay for new account; and cost went up 17.00 +-.
Just paid the fees for the three months (with the new auto pay); and had to pay again to continue service; I advised I was the executor of estate and wanted to keep the same fees; Not an options because the account holder is deceased. GUESS what? I know he is deceased. I was there. I have never been so frustrated and hurt talking about a bill. Options that would be helpful is to keep same account and change to new owner of account so additional fees are not incurred; Customer service needs training on customer service.

This company is driven by profit with little regard for customers. They raised my residential service charges to $198.23/qtr. Local providers were providing services for $75 to $90/qtr. When questioned about the rate, the company quickly retreated to $114.00/qtr. My neighbor informed me after calling to complain about their rate with Republic services, the rate was reduced to $60/mo. When Republic Services on my second call, refused to further reduce the rate, I requested termination of the service. I was told the container would be picked up @ 1 month later and I would be charged $47 for container removal. The container would have to be empty before pickup. I will be charged 1 month service in addition to the $47 pickup charge. The above transaction took an hour of holding on line to complete. Customer service and concern is non existent with Republic Services.

Trash would be left on the shoulder of the road despite using the container they provided. Their employees went through my driveway with the rear tires on their pickup truck spinning, spraying gravel and debris on my property. They charged me a late fee on an erroneous charge which they did credit back, but I had to call and wait on hold for 35 minutes to get the late fee removed. They raised their rates routinely without notice and when I asked why, was told that it was an increase in dump charges that forced them to do so, even though their competition, who use the same dump, didn’t raise their rates. They charged me $38 to pick up the container they forced me to have when I got tired of their lousy service and cancelled it. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone.

We started with Rocky Mountain Sanitation who were always responsive, local, and didn’t overcharge for service. We were told when Republic Services took over that they would honor our pricing with Rocky Mountain Sanitation. We just got a call today saying they were TRIPPLING our cost! I asked for a compromise and was told there wasn’t anything they could do. When you call, it’s a call service who can’t do anything. Then you have to wait for a call from someone in the area. Then you have to wait for the actual person doing the service. Complete inefficiency. As a business owner who budgets for the year, this news of tripling our service charge was very distressing. We have dumpsters, bins, and toilet service which I’m now going to cancel because they are completely unreasonable. DO NOT go with this service if there is another option.

This waste company is the worse company I have ever used. My account says inactive online. I call (the one day that I am sick and unable to go to work) and they say it's active. I cannot schedule a bulk pick-up online because my account online says "inactive". All my billing statements reflect as paid. I place trash (chair) outside for pick-up, doesn't get picked up. I try to schedule for bulk; I can't because my account says inactive. Customer service hours are the hours I am at work. I try using the Chat option, says I need to call. I am over this. We used WM in FL, and I NEVER had an issue. Their website says they don't service this area... bummer.

Absolutely deplorable services. Called three times to schedule pick up services. Was promised three times they would come pick up the bulk and they never showed up. On top of that they missed the regular scheduled pick up services and couldn’t give me a reason as to why. I actually don’t know what to do from here. Simply ridiculous.

Waited on the phone for over 2 hours after being disconnected twice. Tried to then set up an online account, was told after 30 years they could not find me. Keep raising the price gradually after giving me a break when I complained, then within a few months, right back up there.

They miss pickup days frequently. Charged me $50 to return my recycling can and never credited it back, after they agreed they would refund me. My bill went from $45 to $68 for some sort of fuel fee. Choose another company!

In Northern Indiana, I've had 3 missed pickups so far -- and a bill for the full month. Good luck trying to get someone on the phone to adjust your bill. I even placed my number on the docket for a return call -- never happened.

The absolute worst customer service. They are trying to extort me for a pick up fee; one that I never agreed to or signed a contract for. They bought the company that I originally had. The "supervisor" Lauren told me that they will be charging me, the fee was in their terms and conditions (payment does not constitute agreement to terms & conditions, btw) and that I can have a lawyer contact their legal team. We have been trying to cancel service for 2-3 months now. They want $110 per dumpster and $30 per can. We have two dumpster & and one can (in three locations). They are absolutely refusing to work on this issue with me. They have threatened to send me to collections if I don't pay this random fee I never agreed to.

Do not use Republic Services. In 2024 the company posted record profits over 1 billion dollars and yet they endlessly tack on charges to your bill. If they simply provided a reasonably priced service I would not be so burned. Administration fee is added on (because they can), an Environmental Recovery Fee is added on (what the heck is that) and fuel surcharges. This is on top of the pick up cost for the trash bin. No recycling here either. The price kept going up.
I canceled the service, found a place to take my once a month 50 gallon bag of trash for $5. Refund?? They want to give you a "credit" hoping you are moving and will forget the money they are holding on to. Refund has to be be begged for then they snatch $5 off of that as an "Unreferenced Memo" item. Greed, massive greed. Contact customer service and you get a low paid person who is nice and promises things but meanwhile at corporate HQ they keep taking more cash from you. NOT WORTH IT.

I recently canceled my service, they billed me the next payment period because they bill through the end of the month. Billing through to end of the billing cycle makes sense, but charging me after I've canceled my service for another month is theft. Large companies stealing money whenever and wherever they can should be illegal, But this is the world we live in. Our only recourse is to write a review no-one cares about. Shame on you Republic Services, You thief.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Billing practices are borderline fraudulent. Need more accountability and less apologies. Profit pigs charging different prices for the same services in the name of "Open Market Pricing". Fees upon fees upon fees. Which are also at their choosing of price amount. Cancel and go where you aren't being foxswiped each billing statement.

They missed my trash pickup yesterday and I had it at the curb at 5am. They're closed today so no customer service to talk to. When reported missed pickup online their chat bot said my address wasn't active but they did pick up my recycling yesterday so their system is wrong. They picked up other trash in my street. My bill was paid in time. Guess I am stuck until next week so I'll call Monday and ask for a credit in my bill for no service or support.

Updated on 05/27/2025: As a followup to my problem from the end of April, the customer service rep that asked me to contact them never replied to me after I sent them my contact information. I then receive a bill from Republic for $104. I sent it back with a note reminding them that my account was paid in full and service canceled. Now I'm receiving bills for $53 and weekly phone calls demanding payment. Republic is The Worst. I'm reporting them to the Indiana Consumer Protection agency and contacting the attorneys who are working on a class action lawsuit again Republic for Deceptive Business Practices.
Original Review: Called to cancel service. Waited on hold for 10 minutes, then accepted the call back option. Got the call back 30 minutes later. Answered the call back but there was no representative on the line. I was on hold for several more minutes. Representative told me how much Republic appreciated my business since 2019. When I mentioned I wanted to cancel service due to the last unannounced price increase, the Rep offered to "look at my account and see what she could do". I declined as I don't trust companies that impose big rate hikes and then offer small discounts to customers who complain about it. Meanwhile, customers who don't have time to call and complain continue to pay the higher rates. The representative then informed me that I would be sent a "last invoice" in May.
My account balance is paid in full so, I asked what the invoice was for. The Rep informed me I would be charged $52 to pick up the 6 year old trash can. I asked where I had ever agreed to pay $52 for them to pick up their property? Representative said "it wouldn't be in writing. It would just be something you would be made aware of." If I had been made aware when Republic bought out my previous garbage company in 2019, I would have cancelled my service then. I distinctly remember Republic promising to honor the previous companies' contract, which did not include an arbitrary charge to pick up their own personal property. I'm sure they forgot about that after the first year.
Now that I'm seeing all the comments and complaints on the internet, it is clear that in the Midwest, Republic arbitrarily makes up a Stupid Tax to charge customers who cancel service. This is a scam! There are other trash companies out there that don't make up fees or gouge their customers. Use one of them. All the garbage goes to the same landfill. To Republic Executives in the Midwest: If you want less complaints, stop the shady business practices! You're going to get a class action lawsuit if you keep it up.

If I could give negative stars, I would. I have been with Republic Services since they bought out the 2 companies prior. Their rate increases and additional fees are nothing less than agressive and unwarranted. I called 6 months ago to cancel Services. At that time it was agreed that they would provide me the same rate as their competitor was offering if I agreed to contract for a year. I did. 6 months in they raise my rate. When I called to cancel service, they informed me that the benefit of the contract (to me the consumer) is that will provide the services I pay for monthly. I was told if I cancel, I would be charged $700. Plus fees. Their rate is currently 35% higher than what I can get the exact same service from their competitor for.

Do not use this company!!! They will lock you into a three year contract. Then in the fine print it basically says they can raise the price at any time. Less than a year after signing they jacked my rate up 30% higher! I got quotes from other companies that were lower than my original rate. Republic said they would match it only if I signed a new 3 year contract. So I did, then less than a year later they raise my rate 30% again! I said I want it lower they said they could lower it a little bit but only if I re-sign another 3 year contract. I'm not sure how this isn't criminal! My advise is stay away from this company! Don't ever sign anything with them. I will be talking to a lawyer to see how they can get away with a scam like this.

After 30 minutes on hold trying to cancel my service, the hold system disconnected. I am moving out of your service area, and it's very disappointing that Republic Services seems to be waiting until the very last minute to come into compliance with the FTC click-to-cancel rule (link at the end of the post). From other reviews, it looks like Republic is going to charge me $40 to pick up their own containers. This is disappointing considering the lost productivity of having to wait on hold has already cost me more than that as I could only do a limited amount of work for my own business during that hold period. **

Republic missed so many weeks of our residential garbage pick ups that we had dozens of bags that wouldn't fit in the can. Weeks of no pick up. I called so many people and was always told there was someone else I needed to call. Republic would not remedy the problem they created so I was forced to rent an additional can. I ordered 3 months to get a discounted rate and was charged for 5 months plus delivery of the extra can. My bill was over $150! For their errors! I called today to cancel and was still charged over $130. Thank goodness they waived the $55 pick up fee for the can itself. This is ridiculous and I do not recommend this company.

Las Vegas, NV 89106. Today is 4-4-25. Republic Services has to have the laziest drivers for bulk pickup anywhere! I have bundled yard waste by the street, sitting there over a month. I called twice about missed pickups. Last time I was told that the driver said it was too big. I guess all the proper sized bundles together look like one large mound to the driver. Lazy...the nicest way I can put it.

If I could give zero stars, I would. My recycle at my house has been missed for 3 weeks. I called and spoke to customer service this week (after being on hold for over 30 minutes) and was told it would be picked up Wednesday. That did not happen. A text was received that it would be picked up Thursday, April 3rd, but that did not happen. A call was just placed to customer AGAIN and was on hold for 46:39 when I had to hang up. This is not the only time I have had my containers not serviced. YOU HAVE GOT TO DO BETTER!! As tax payers, we are paying for your service. Missing them is non-negotiable. My neighbors had their recycle picked up, but mine was not, so they were out and serviced my neighborhood.

I am unfortunately signed into a contract with this company. Every 2 weeks they report having picked up the solid waste dumpster only find out it’s still full. In my opinion, this is a breach of contract and I will look to soon terminate it fully. If there is a different company I suggest you take your luck with them as I can personally attest that you will have a dumpster/can to place your trash, and this is great until it fills up. Then you will have to start taking the trash out the dumpster and hauling to the recycling center because of the missed pick up causing a smell.

Subject: Urgent: Property Damage and Distress Caused by Republic Services. I am writing to formally address an issue caused by your service that has been both upsetting and distressing for my family. During a recent trash collection March 31 at about 4:40pm, your team damaged our fence and trash can. As a direct result of this damage, our dog was able to get out. This was an incredibly stressful experience for us, as my daughter and I had to drive around the neighborhood searching for our pet. This situation has affected us tremendously, and I am deeply disappointed by the lack of care that led to this incident.
Furthermore, given my ongoing complaints about trash not being picked up, this incident seems intentional, which makes it even more concerning. Worst company I have ever dealt with. Always Late on picking up trash, sometimes skips a week. Can't get in contact with the local office, corporate won't give out their local phone number, plus when you call corporate, they never know what the problem is or what's going on, but refuse to give you the phone number of your local office. We finally had enough and called and canceled our service. Ask them to give us a final bill and pick up date, which we paid over the phone at that time. Almost a month later, we get another bill from the Republic for a pickup fee, recycling fee and fuel cost. Plus taxes came to over $60 dollars, just to cancel a non contracted service. Customers beware of this company.

Updated on 04/01/2025: You are hearing back from me. Let's do this publicly though, as a lot of your poor ratings are due to the fact that you all do not respond. Granted you responded on this one, but the response was that you would like for me to give you information, so you can do an inquiry. There is no need for an inquiry. You missed my trash service now. For the fourth or fifth time, and when I call your company, no one answers the phone. A person can stay on the phone for hours, waiting on your hold time. This is unacceptable. You guys need to do a workover on your whole process concerning customer service in my opinion. If a customer has an issue, and they cannot get you on the phone to voice that issue, I would rather not have your service at all.

The service is good and mostly reliable. However, if you want to reach a live person.... good luck! After an hour of trying, I was informed I could not set out extra bags even if we PAID for a bulk pick-up. Literally just household junk from summer cleaning and closet clean outs. It already costs enough for a weekly service!

If you want to be disappointed with a vendor, Republic's Trash Service in Avon, Indiana will not fall short. If you like calling and arguing with combative customer service reps multiple times a week to report missed trash pick ups Republic's Trash Service Avon is my go to. Tell me you suck at your job without telling me you suck at your job - Republic's Trash Service Avon is a trash service that can't seem to pick up trash and their customer service reps will continuously tell you that it has been picked up, even as you (the customer paying their salary) stare at your full trash cans at end of your driveway. I thought Ray's Trash was bad but Republic's Trash Avon is taking the trophy for 2025!

I have NEVER seen such a mismanaged company. Two things for sure, either you would have service or you wouldn't. At least twice a month I had to call for a pickup because I was totally missed. I had enough of the aggravation so I cancelled the service. Now get this, I WAS CHARGED $72.00 TO HAVE MY TRASH BIN PICKED UP! I was actually charged for them to pick up something that belonged to Republic!!!! My advice is handle your garbage yourself by taking it to the waste facility or find another company.

I don't understand how a company can get away with this crap. Our fault I suppose, we should have research them before signing up. But so many hidden fees, additional fees and no one tells you about it, ridiculous. Fees for dropping EACH containers, fees for fuel, fees for environmental recovery, oh and fees to pick up EACH container when you cancel the account. I'm sorry but that's something I should be aware of when starting an account. The amount of the fees is also ridiculous and for us added up to 300$!!!! The actual cost for picking up and doing the job was 25.50$ per month. The other company in our area charges ONE flat fee of 76$ for 3 months with NO Additional fees, nothing hidden, true to their words. We're never going back to Republic. That's for sure, 2 months of services and all the fees up to 359$. No thank you.

I would not recommend this company for business dumpster service. They will constantly charge you extra fees for the most minor occurrence. I have been charged over double my agreed to fee based off what they claim is an overage. I will definitely be taking my business somewhere else.

The absolute worst. Not only do they charge LITERALLY over twice as much as the refuse company I switched to, but they also run a scam on the 'free rental' of the toter. They tell you that you can use their toter for free during the service period, but fail to mention that you get invoiced (over $70!!!) whenever you stop using Republic Services. I could have just got one for myself. COMPLETE ripoff, terrible company.

This company is the worst. They purposely ignore city ordinates. Every week, between 3:50AM-5 AM, while their offices are STILL closed and long before city ordinates state the operation of their trucks operable, they send trucks to our area who wake the entire neighborhood up with loud beeping sounds and tossing large steel garbage containers all over the place. You go out to complain about the violation and what do you know, their offices are closed, yet their truck is wreaking havoc for school children and working adults at rest with all of the noise it makes. This is EVERY WEEK!!
There is no integrity in such a place who refuses to address this when it is affecting children who need to rest for school in the upcoming hours. I am now up, as a single parent, AGAIN! Tending to a 2 year who won't sleep because Republic feels the need to violate all city ordinates. Next move is complaining to the city and calling the police. I won't stand for this! They are clearly in a residential neighborhood and could care less. This company is bogus.

Worst company I ever have dealt with as a business owner for 32 years. Suddenly quit pick ups. Couldn't reach for 6 weeks. Then told they no longer service my area. Never had the professional decency to notify me.. Then sent me a recontract proposal. Nobody there has any idea what's going on.

Very extremely difficult to cancel the contract. So much runaround from their "account managers". They are NOT transparent with their fees, price increases and terrible auto renew terms of the contract. What is the address to send the "certified letter" to to cancel? I would not recommend Republic. I will say agents are nice so one star is given. Make sure you get all the information you can about pricing, cycles, fees, cancels, trash can itself (locations, times, repairs and takeaways). Write down your interactions (dates, times and who you talk to). I pray that current customers have a good experience.

Idk if anyone is looking for trash pick up on the commercial side but I wanted to share my experience so others would know. I signed up with Republic and I have had nothing but awesomeness. TJ ** is wonderful to work with any questions I have he's on it. They come and pick up on your selected schedule. You are notified before they come as well as once they pick up. You are also made aware if there is a delay in your service for whatever reason. If you're not having Republic as your commercial trash service you're missing out. Best customer service hands down.

The environmental fuel recovery fee is supposed to be 18 percent. That's what their website says. Which would put it at a little over $10. It's at 22.57...my bill jumped from 75.86 to 99.46...and before I called to cancel my service a while ago-it was at $169. for 3 months. I'm not sure why they think after 3 months they can alter my bill like this...but I'm not happy

I just purchased a home In Gibsonville and Republic is the company that picks up trash! They have messed up my pickup three times in a row now! Called and complained several times and still continue to not empty my second garbage can that I'm paying extra for! Over 80 dollars a month for a company doing a brainless job that anyone can do! All I get is excuses every time I call!
Worst experience I've ever had with any company! I'm going all the way up the chain and going to give some employees some attitude adjustments if need be! They need to fire all of the people not doing their job over and over again or they will be replaced by robots! Can't manage to empty garbage cans! I wouldn't even trust them to flip burgers at McDonalds! Terrible experience and I'm not going to stop until this is resolved! Blowing up every site with bad reviews!!!

We received notification that our trash pick up would be changed from Monday to Tuesday but they didn't pick up on Tuesday either and also skipped the recycle week and now has been over 3 weeks since that has been picked up.

I am writing this review because of how they overcharge in the state of Arizona. First, they are more than double the price of the two other waste collection in the area. Paid a $45 dollar fee PLUS a fee for administration and now I cancel service I have another $40 fee to pick up plus admin fee and a fuel recovery fee paying total of $76. That is ridiculous. Sat on hold for 53 minutes to hear "that's how it is." Check other supplies first as they are the most expensive!!

We have had a service contract with Republic Services for trash collection at a small apartment building that we own. We canceled that contract yesterday after having been on hold for more than two hours while being passed on to three (3) successively dishonest "customer service" representatives. Eventually, we did receive a call back from a "customer service supervisor" whose job was to inform us that Republic Services would be billing us to buy out of our contract. We have all seen this movie before. The fish stinks from the head. I assure you these four individuals are functioning exactly as corporately instructed. Here is their program.
2. Raise prices at will, charge for "environmental costs" to keep profits high. Charge for anything that you possibly can as "additional charges" (like a slightly raise lid as a overfill condition).
3. Make it impossible to for the customer to complain, or leave this abusive business relationship.
3b. Make sure that if the customer calls up with any concern whatsoever (billing issue, service quality, missed pick up) their experience is so ridiculously bad that they will not call back.
4. Have our well staffed legal team is readily available to publish the costs to any customer that wants to do business with an alternative vendor.
4. The executive team that cooked up this process is probably patting them elves on the back. "Yep. That's it. You captured our plans exactly."
This process has been true and well positioned for the entire time we have called Republic Services a vendor. We canceled our contract for "failure to perform" yesterday. I highly recommend you choose some alternative vendor. Whoever you choose, you will be way, way better off without this nonsense of a company.

Horrible service. Frequently misses scheduled pickups. I moved to a different address and Republic Services charged me over $80 just to remove the containers. This business is scamming people and should be investigated.

I call Customer Service every week to replace my 13-year-old broken "TRASH CAN" and I get the same answer each time I called, "WILL SEND SOMEBODY TO REPLACE IT." It's been over a month and no one come to replace my trash can. I even sent them an email couple weeks ago. No reply??? For star choices, they should put ZERO because one star is too much for their bad service.

I told my cousin that my trash company keep raising my bill almost 2 dollars every year, and It reaching over a $100 now for 3 months cycles. My cousin told me her trash bills was only $78 for 3 months, and price raise every 3 years. We both lived in same neighborhood. I have used Republic Service since the beginning when I moved into the neighborhood. I have reached out to Republic Service, could not even find a email to complaint about, called customer service, they don't have the answer and told me it my HOA have to do with price on my trash bill not them, because my HOA is contract with Republic Service to serve in my neighborhood.
I contact HOA for this but they refer me back to Republic Service. I have suggested for different trash company to my HOA few times in the past. Unfortunately, the whole neighborhood using Republic Service because it was set up by neighborhood HOA contract with this trash company. I have a choice to pick my own trash company, but what company would come just to pick up one household, my neighborhood have tried, didn't work out. So far no answer from Republic Service, I understand price goes up, but it should be the same for everyone in the whole neighborhood. Why one is cheaper than the other. I heard one of the state is suing the Republic Service for same situation

I am greatly disappointed in the service as they have missed pickups a couple times. This past week we had snow of 4 inches on Wednesday. Our pickup is on Thursday but they sent a voicemail saying they would be one day delay. On Friday, I got another voicemail advising there would be no pickup until next Thursday. Roads in our neighborhood were all cleared by Thursday morning and Friday was sunny all day. The competitors to Republic all picked up on Saturday. So, I'm calling to get quotes from other companies now.

This company is a disaster and is completely untrustworthy. They have a myriad of hidden fees, such as a fuel fee that changes every month (and they won’t tell you how much it will be), with extremely high surprise bills that just keep coming. It was far, far more expensive than originally quoted. The website is also completely dysfunctional and there is no communication about delayed or rescheduled trash pickups. They are massively unreliable about the services you are paying top dollar for. Finally, they’ll surprise you with huge delivery and pickup fees (an incredible expensive penalty for cancelling with them). I absolutely do not recommend working with them for any reason.

Worst and most unprofessional company. I called their office prior from moving from our rental home where we had our Republic account opened 7 years earlier. Spoke with CS to make sure my service would end before next billing cycle began. I was told to have cans at curb for the last pick up because a truck would be behind the pick up guys to take my cans. Today I get a bill for $85. Check my account it says for service date of March. I called the office and they said they are charging me for picking up the cans!!!! When I cancelled my service I was told they have to pick up my cans or I would be charged for them. This makes no sense. I did exactly as Republic Customer Service told me to do when I stopped my service in January. I am filing a complaint with the BBB and Consumer Protection today. Republic Services is a total scam.

The prices are astronomical compared to competitors. I can’t get them to change the email they send our invoices to….They continue sending our invoices to someone who doesn’t work for us anymore. I’ve been told it would be 2-3 business days a few times now & I’m still never getting bills so I can even see what I’m being charged for. I asked about our contract end date & was told I’d hear back in 2-3 business days….which I probably won’t.

I've had continuing problems over the years with my trash barrel not being emptied completely. I pay for the barrel to be rolled to the street and emptied directly into the garbage truck. Instead, the workers save time by plucking a few pieces of trash out of my barrel and putting them in their own barrel. I probably complain to Republic two or three times a year about this, but the poor service continues to occur.

This experience was awful from start to finish. I haven't used Republic for trash pickup in years. I don't remember it being so awful, but it certainly is now. From the very start, there's no way for you to set up new service online. You must do it from the phone. Also, there's no way to set up automatic payments online until you get your first bill from them in the mail -- 2 months after you set-up service. Furthermore, they charge bi-monthly. Do you like to set-up autopay? Doesn't matter, it doesn't work half the time on their website. It'll tell you that autopay is on but will still fail to pay the bill from your bank account (and yes, I always have money in the account).
Another great bit about these folks is that they're randomly charge another $32, with no notice, for "Fuel/Environmental Recovery Fee" -- which is not explained whatsoever. I've never had them pick anything up that wasn't inside the trashcan and nothing has been environmentally hazardous. Oh, it gets even better. As large as this company is, they do not have 24/7 support, nor do they have support on the weekends at all. They're like a bank (perhaps they wish they were -- they act like one). They also give you NO text, email, or any other type of notice when they fail to process an 'automatic payment' and label something as 'past due.' Honestly, I don't know who at Republic is responsible for all of these abhorrent business practices, but they're absolute scumbags. There needs to be some serious legal action taken against them. It's insane they've been allowed to get away with this for so long.

If I could leave a zero…I would. This is the least dependable company I’ve dealt with and by far the worst customer service! In consistent pick ups and have to go through multiple people to get a refund when your trash isn’t picked up. Charged cleaning fees to bring cans and pick them up. Final month that I didn’t want was $137 due to to “the system”.

Price increase and trash being picked up way more than agreed. When trying to cancel Service it’s a Huge pain in the butt. Republic Services will give you the run around and drag out ending service. I would never use them again.

This joke of a business earned their terrible Google score by being the absolute worst company EVER!! They know they don't have to try, because they are under contract with the city and due to this MONOPOLY they have no competition. They regularly miss pickups. They used to use the excuse that the driver would miss it, because it was in the alley. So we started dragging the dumpster half a block, down to the main street, because our neighbor told us that they were more likely to pick it up if we did all the work for them. NOPE!! They just don't care.
We've watched them drive right down the block, right past our recycling and then right past the neighbor's as well. They know if they don't pick it up there are no repercussions. And just try calling them....HA!!! Their "customer service" department literally consist of ONE LADY. After you navigate their phone prompts, you get put on hold, where it doesn't tell you how long it'll be or what number you are in the queue and you can hear it's just one lady, because every time she picks up a new complaint, you can hear her say "Thank you for..."
Even their hold system sucks. They mask their complete lack of customer service by having the lady tell everyone that "we are experiencing higher than usual call volume at this time." No you're not!! Your phone rings all day long, because your workers don't do their jobs. Your call volume is ALWAYS "unusually high" because people have to take time out of their busy day to call you and ask "WHY WON'T YOU DO WHAT YOU'RE PAID TO DO!?!?" Pro-tip: DO YOUR FREAKING JOB AND YOU'LL GET LESS PEOPLE CALLING TO ASK WHY YOU DIDN'T DO YOUR JOB!!
They SUCK!!! And THEY DON'T CARE!!! Once you wait on hold for half an hour, you'll get a prompt saying "Leave your number and we'll call you back." Don't fall for this. When they call you back it's just dead air. When I called them back and waited on hold another 40 minutes, and then told them about the dead air, on the callback, the lady said "We've been having trouble with our phone service recently." I don't believe that for a second. It's all by design to keep you from complaining and forcing them to come back and do their job THAT WE PAY THEM TO DO!!!
Four days in a row, we call, and they say "We're so sorry. We'll send a truck out today." They never send anyone out. They don't care about keeping their word. They just don't care. P.S. I think we have offended the sensitive souls at Republic "Services," as they now drive right by our dumpster, stopping at the houses on either side of us. I guess they are somehow the victims of THEM missing their pickups and THEM promising FOUR TIMES(!!!!) to come pick it up and NEVER SHOWING UP. Somehow after all that, they get to have hurt feelings and drive right by our dumpster. 'Service will resume when the one star rating is removed.' Message received.

I wasn't able to pay a given payment and they charged me to interrupt my service and then charged me again to restore the services!!! This is very upsetting to do that to people who work their hard earned money!! Fine to charge one fee, but two?!!!

I wish I had another option for my trash services. These people are AWFUL. Never once picked up my recycling can so I cancelled the service. Then it took them a month and threatening to throw the can on the train tracks for them to finally come pick it up. Now they’re missing my garbage can and the supervisor who gave me his cell phone for issues like this was rude because I called at 5:15 which is “after work hours”. I’m so frustrated and my trash is piling up. This company should be investigated for mishandling my payments and not providing me a service.

Well my garbage is still sitting by the road from 3 weeks ago. No one will pick it up and when I said can't I meet the driver at the end of the road a guy named Scott got nasty with me and said, "We can't do that for all the customers we have." So I guess my garbage is suppose to just sit here till spring and have the animals tear it up. If I could get a different company I would but they are the only ones that do my area.

I have been using Republic Services for almost 10 years, faithfully paying my bill on time, and had very few problems with my trash pickup. But things rapidly changed when they tried to raise their rates by 25%, with me subsequently cancelling my service with them. First, they billed me for another 3 months of service, which required working with their billing office to work out a reimbursement. Then, a few weeks later, I start getting emails, trying to bill me for more money. I assumed they still thought I was a customer, even though my online account was no longer accessible, and showed that it was closed.
I finally blocked their emails in hopes that they were figure it out. But....Instead I get a letter in the mail telling me that I owe them almost $40 for them to pick up their trash can and a $5 late fee for not paying it on-time. This fee will negate the money I saved by switching to a more user friendly company and a much cheaper price. They think they will get it out me, one way or another. Unfortunately, I have to wait until business hours tomorrow to give them a piece of my mind.

I would have given zero if it was a choice. Was a long time customer that did not love them but too busy to switch. Had a container at my house from a previous owner for all 10 of those. When I sold my house I called to cancel service and stop my auto draft. They drafted it anyway. When I finally called about a refund 2 months later they held out $61 for container pickup even though the buyers of my house had already signed up to use them and they dropped off one just like what they picked up from. I offered them a chance to do the right thing and not charge $61 to pick up a container that did not need exchanged. They refused and I promised 61 days of negative reviews. I want to help others avoid this and to cost them more money in business than they took from me by being greedy. Post 1 of 61.

On my trash day the trash pick up my next door and left mine. When I call customer service they said that they were going to pick it up as a miss trash…They lie 'cause never came to pick it up. They will just tell you stuff like that to get you off the phone line. How can you miss a trash 2 feet away from others' trash.

Once you are able to actually SPEAK to a human, they are very unprofessional and have zero understanding of how to conduct business. Not to mention they are extremely overpriced, and the dumpster is rarely ever emptied completely.

Late/missed pickup. Billing and then cancellation issues. Poor Customer care/support. Late fees and billing after cancelling service within ToS. Do not adhere to own ToS. Lack of knowledge in call center to resolve issue. I was a customer of a trash pickup service that Republic purchased in late 2023, early 2024. Once Republic took over, my trash pickup time was inconsistent and sometimes not picked up at all. They would not prorate or pickup. They tried to charge for excessive trash pickup the following week after they missed a pickup.
When I cancelled within their terms of service, they would not adhere to their own Terms of service. Wanted to charge me for a bin that they did not supply. After cancelling, I was levied a late fee for the next billing cycle, although the account showed it was not active. Poor systems and management. Not sure what they know what they are doing. Very poorly run business. If you have other service options, investigate them prior to signing up with Republic. I find a lot of similar experiences in mine in other reviews for this business.

Severely overpriced compared to other local options. They have missed several pickups and never returned to pickup or give credit for those missed pickups despite reporting the mistakes several times. Cancelled because I've grown tired of the price increases. The representative tried every trick in the book to keep me, but I refused citing their pricing policies to then tell me at the end of the call that it would cost $45 to retrieve their bin and clean it proving my EXACT point on why I'm cancelling. Their cancellation fee is almost twice as much as a single month of the company I've joined. Outrageous.

One star, And that's only because Linda was able to figure out why billing was messed up for over 2 months... But that's just the side note. I am a customer of Republic Services as well as, AmeriGas. Amerigas is not perfect, but they offer a military discount... :) Especially in times like these, we all count on the military to keep us safe.. :) And with Republic Services in 41 states.... I see no reason why they shouldn't offer a military discount program...? I almost feel like someone near the top of management is not allowing it.... Shame on you... :((

Charge me $133 a month for large container. To start new service they charge $50 to deliver and to end service they charge $50 to remove. They can’t keep container in same spot; gets moved in front of garage door. Sometimes day of p/u gets moved because they don’t have adequate staffing. They are buying up other companies so not a lot you can do & they know that.

I wish I could give it a 0 star. If you ever cancel your service with them don't let them come and get your container. Just take it your self because they will end up charging you for the pick as well. But they don't tell you that when you cancel. They only send you the bill.

I wish I could give less than 1 star because they are the absolute worst company I’ve ever dealt with. My trash wasn’t picked up Monday and when I called Tuesday I was told by a supervisor who contacted me that it was an oversight and she assured me someone would pick it up Wednesday. Today is Thursday night and my trash still hasn’t been picked up. When you’re paying a company to provide a service, it shouldn’t be unreasonable to expect the service to be done. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone.

Put a bed out, took the mattress, left the box spring so it will just sit on the curb for another week as it gets covered in snow. Completely moronic. Worst garbage company I’ve ever had. One big item a week so two weeks to get rid of my son's bed. But they will leave garbage in the cans and not follow their contract with us.

Requested bulk pick up services for two items to dispose of. Paid deposit fee when initially scheduling this. Brought these items to where I've historically brought them, and were not picked up. I was told I did not bring these to the right spot. Rescheduled pickup, and admittedly missed the second pickup. However, no attempt was made on the Company's side to rescheduled. I have been charged for the service as well as disposal fees. To get the items picked up I would need to be charged again. Absolutely horrendous service.

They run a borderline racketeering business and will be very shady. I reached out after they raised my bill from $35 per month to $45 per month. For reference, that's $420-$540 per year. I also had contacted the only local owned company left for pricing. Republic offered to match my previous billing of $35 per month. Although that would have been fine, the quote I received from the other company was $30 per month or $350 per year. I told Republic their competitor's pricing and they immediately offered me $25 per month. So for the last 2 years I've been getting screwed at $35 per month. I declined their offer and switched to the other company. Under their policy, they charge $100 to pick up THEIR trash cans, because when I told them I will keep the cans for that price they refused and said they own the cans and I would be forced to pay because there was nowhere local I could drop them off at.
Their mistake when they billed me was itemizing the pricing. It was $78 for the can pick up, and then also charged me $30 for an environmental/fuel fee and also tax on top of all of this for a total of $113.72, again, for THEIR cans. I agreed to pay $78 for the cans as fighting this anymore was not worth. Their policy, they charge the environmental/fuel fee on every invoice. I understood that, however, that is for them to recover cost associated with the waste removal. The cans were empty when they picked them up. Also, why am I paying a fuel cost when the $78 should cover your employee wages, fuel, insurance, etc. The consumer does not care if you make any profit on this, and you shouldn't. The taxes on top of this was also a complete scam. If they are paying taxes on top of removing THEIR waste cans, that is their own fault. To make things seem even more shady, I contacted them twice, 1 month apart.
I explained the billing situation on the first call and the lady said she would have to get management involved and either her or the manager will call me back. After 1 month I called back because I hadn't heard anything. They had zero information in there system that I ever called. Once I explained the billing situation, and told her the same thing as the last person, I was willing to pay the "contractually obligated" $78 for the can removal, she immediately approved it. I have never had a worse experience with a trash removal company and would give them an all around 0 stars. I know each location doesn't necessarily have corporate oversight, but for as large of a company as they are, they should be a little more invested in their employees over their profits.

I can’t in good conscience recommend this service to anyone. I was forced into this service after my local town passed ordinance for an exclusive deal, close after RS bought out the locally owned service I used previously. Rates keep going up randomly, service is wildly inconsistent. They refuse to pick up anything that’s not in one of ‘their bins’, consistently just spray trash up and down the street. I have an identical bin that they’ve refused to pick up. Customer service said they’d crush it with the truck if they tried, it’s the same mfg and model other than the color code as they use. My bin is black instead of blue, and they’ve crushed my RS issued blue one anyways, the wheels aren’t falling off, I guess the benefit is it doesn’t trap water.

Skipped pick up of trash due to snow. No call made for delay due to weather. No communication at all. Other trash companies picked up our neighbor's trash same week. Called for pick up this week. Denied. Requested credit. Denied. If other services can get pick up there is no reason this one can’t. They show no mercy if you are a minute late on bill.

If I could give "0" stars, I would! This has been the most difficult company to deal with. We have had a small dumpster for years, a 2 cubic yard to be exact. The bill went up to $328 per month. I have tried to cancel for weeks. You will be on hold for no less than 55 minutes. They always say that someone else needs to call you back, you never speak to the person that can help you. Needless to say, THEY NEVER CALL YOU BACK!! I've tried calling the corporate office and get the same thing. I JUST WANT TO CANCEL THIS OVERPRICED DUMPSTER SERVICE. If I cannot get anyone today, I will contact the local news in Baton Rouge as well as the insurance commissioner. I will contact ANYONE THAT WILL LISTEN!!!!

I have been with Republic for 7 years. They missed multiple pickups due to weather but that certainly can happen. They were just fine as a service. When talking to other neighbors it turns out after all this time my cost compared to other companies was more then double of other carriers. I decided I had had enough after another missed pickup and left for another service.
When leaving they require you the consumer to turn off auto bill or they will continue to bill. Their system can’t apparently stop billing automatically when you cancel. They have the ability to do this but don’t as they put the onus on you the customer. A senior advisor had to do this as the previous rep would not. To add to the misery, if there is a refund that is due, you as the customer MUST call back in. All credits due to the customer are just left on account if you don’t call back in. No exceptions. Despite requesting during the call to send the refund they said they were unable to do this.

I'd give zero stars if I could. They do a price creep with every bill charging more and more for random fees and services. They charge a hefty pickup fee to cancel your service with them. If the winds blows your container over, they will leave it behind. When you go on to request a missed pickup service, they ignore it completely and wait until your next scheduled pickup day. Which means your cans sit out on the street for at least an entire week (biweekly service in my case so it'd sit for two weeks). This often leads to people carelessly throwing loose trash in your bins which wind up needing to be cleaned when they spill coffee or something everywhere in the bin. Wouldn’t be a problem if the sanitation company would do its job in the first place.

Terrible and unreliable trash/recycling pickup for residential customers. If you have a choice in this do not choose them. Horrible. Trash and recycling pile up waiting for them to pick up on schedule. There are instances that hamper service such as inclement weather but this should be pushed back 1-2 days only not an entire week without updates to when the service will become available.

Worst company ever. When I started I had trash and recycling for under $100 and it’s been going up and up ever since. This time they wanted $200. I just canceled. The girl on the phone said they could lower my bill to 120. I said no thank you just for them to raise it again next billing period. NEVER TRUST THEM!
