We were customers for several years, until their prices became extremely high $240+/quarter, without justification as to why. Also, they did not pick up for 2 weeks without notice or why they did not pick up, which previously they had been good about notifying if they were unable to pick up due to weather or a holiday. However, in these instances there was no holiday nor inclement weather to as why they did not pick up. When I called to report a missed pick up they apologized and said someone would be out within the week to pick up, and it did not happen.
When I cancelled the service before the next quarter, I was told that we would not be billed, as I had cancelled prior to the next quarter. I would however, be billed for a pick/disposal fee for the dumpster. However, I was indeed billed, in full, for the next quarter. After 5 phone calls to the company for a refund and two people telling me they would call me back, I was told I had to wait until I received a receipt before they would send me a refund and that they were unable to process a refund electronically, therefore I had to make another phone call into the company once I received the receipt to receive a refund. Each time I called, no matter what time of day, I was on hold and on the phone for a total of at least 45 minutes each time, being transferred from person to person.

I highly recommend for no one to use this company. They are not here for the customer, it’s all about how much they can charge you. Our pickup driver was amazing. Everyone else could careless. If you want to be surprised with an add’l bill over $100 to $160 this is your choice of business. Oh they will lower your month bill as long as you start a new contract. Totally dissatisfied.

I had been with Republic Services for 11 years and multiple times they missed my house, nothing in the way, all trash was covered properly and even tho they said it was their fault. THEY WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE BY COMING BACK making me wait 4 days to come get the trash. This time I had storm damage and need my trash can, I ask them to bring another one out they refused I had to leave bags of wet cloths in my garage alone with trash from those days. I explained all the problem and they could care less I’m in hospice care I could not go lifting bags, and now have to pay someone to come help the smell was terrible I will be reporting them and the were aware of the storms I will report them for leaving me with what could have turned to mold.

These people aren’t even my trash service. They are my neighbors. They park on one side of the street and expect for you to wait till they’re done. I drove on the other side of the road to get home and they have the audacity to honk at me when I’m in no one‘s way. Unprofessional.

Extremely pricey and they hide additional fees that are not told to you when you sign up. $200 for one month and cancellation is insane. Other places are much nicer and upfront with you.

Put one payment on credit card because I was out of town and usually write a check. Got credit card bill and they had not only charged current bill but had also paid in advance the next three months. This was not authorized. When I called them, they said well your next cycle is paid. I demanded a refund and asked that my credit card be removed from that account if they had linked it. They told me I had to go on-line to my account to do this. I don’t do on-line accounts! I think I will contact the NC Secretary of State for their illegal practices.

If the star rating can be lower, I will give 0 star. Do yourself a favor, do not do business with this company. They randomly increase your fee up based on fuel charge.

When taking on a new property the first thing I do is make certain that they are not using Republic Services. These photos were taken at the beginning of March. We have 8 dumpsters. They left piles of trash by 4 of them. On the morning of the incident I drove the property to check if trash had been picked up. Had it I would have begun lifting the lids to the dumpsters. These piles were not there. I saw the piles right after I saw the Republic trash truck leave. We called immediately. They did nothing to fix the problem we were facing. Mind you these piles are by homes with kids. Republic did not care. Here we are 3/29. And nothing has been done. Please do not use this service. You will be throwing away your money. They are cheaper for a reason. They will not correct any issues you may have.

I scheduled a large item pickup for 3/19/26 on 3/16/26. I called twice on each of these days after it was not picked up after promise on top of promise that it would be picked up 3/19,3/20,3/23 and 3/24. I got an extremely helpful supervisor, Heather, from the 800# on 3/23 that was helping me to resolve the issue. All six representatives I spoke with prior to Heather did not advise me I needed a sticker as per a contract with my city. All of the representatives advised me I only needed a sticker, in fact 10 of them if it was over 75 pounds. Each Sticker costs a dollar. Heather called in the morning to advised me my couch was being picked up on 3/24 and they were waiving the dollar ticket.
I received a call from Savannah at the Sharonville location later that afternoon who stated she was in charge of the contract with my city and I needed a sticker. I asked why she was interjecting herself into this conversation because I already worked it out a supervisor, Heather at the 800#. Savanah then informed me she would not allow my item to be picked up until the dollar stick was on the item. I said my item was supposed to be picked up on 3/19, no representative of the six I spoke to said anything about a sticker if under 75 lbs and Heather already is resolving the issue and gave me a one-time courtesy. Savanah advised me they we not picking up my item until the one-dollar sticker was on it.
I am extremely upset that Savanah interjected herself when she didn't need to for a dollar and her refusing to just allow the supervisor at the 800# who already had it resolved is no way to deal with a customer. She also stated that her director of operations also agreed with her they had a conversation about it but when he called and left a voicemail he was calling about my "mattress"..the item was a couch, just shows their communication and customer service is awful and all for a dollar.

I'm upgrading my star rating as a result of me writing my original review here on CA and actually having Republic's corporate office follow through because of my review. It still took about 7 weeks to get everything resolved, but we were not charged the exorbitant $600 fee we were originally told we'd have to pay if we cancelled our service. Unless/until Republic changes their policy to ensure ALL of their fees are stated upfront and clearly, I cannot say I'd ever do business with them again. Which really is a shame, because for 15+ years we had good customer service from them with only minimal hiccups.

I'd give 0 stars if I could. We've been long-time customers, never late on a payment. Our charges kept going up, and we called to cancel service. My husband talked to several different CS reps, and finally was told they'd cancel the service. 1 week later we were charged for the service again. My husband called back, the CS rep Tori assured us our account was closed, and she credited the charge back to us. She further advised we remove our cc info so there wouldn't be another autopay charge taken out 'by mistake', which we removed our cc info, and our account now shows no cc info.
A few days later another CS rep, Candice called and informed my husband we'd have to pay them $546.00 to cancel the service. My husband told her he'd already spoken w Tori and she told us our account was closed in good standing. Candice advised that Tori shouldn't have done that, they have new CS reps all the time. My husband told her that's not our problem, that's a Republic CS problem.
Last month we received an email for a bill for $0. This month we just received an e-mail bill for $91, and that they would be taking the money out via autopay. The same autopay we no longer have authorized. Since 2/10/26 we haven't used their dumpster. It has sat empty waiting for them to come get it. It looks like I will have to contact an attorney about Republic's apparently shady business practices.

Absolutely unacceptable that they charge nearly $45 for removal of the bin but waive that for some people. Customer service was rude and unacceptable, bordering on downright hate. They charge nearly 3 times more than others and have no respect for customers.

Our monthly service increased over 60% over the course of a year. When trying to cancel service, they transfer me from one representative to another. Still on hold. Would not recommend at all. Shady business practices.

Republic Recycling Services left a bunch of broken glass bottles in front of my home and when I contacted their company, their response was to expedite a call for the next business day. Do not use this company!!!

Updated on 03/27/2026: So here we are at 3:40 pm today! And I spoken with another supervisor name Warren that assured me that he would personally get back with me and the item would be picked up today. Those items are still sitting out in the front of my home and no callback whatsoever from Warren! Again REMEMBERED IF YOU CAN BY ALL MEANS AVOID THIS COMPANY. PLEASE DO!
Original Review: New. You all are the worst of the worst! As bad as the trash you pick up! I've only been with them a for about a month and its been trouble from day one! We purchased a home in Collinsville Illinois and could even get the service switch on right away because the previous owners had a bill. So I had to keep calling for about two weeks before they got it together and was able to set up a bulk pick up. So after finally getting that done. Two weeks head of time. Which it was scheduled for march 25th..Today is the 26th at 530pm and they still haven't shown up!
After calling, calling and calling come to find out every rep I spoke with wasn't local and keep lying like the truck was in route and they were on the way! Every time I asked to speak with a supervisor I was told there wasn't one available. When I finally got to speak with one it was at 4pm she said she would contact the dispatch to see where they were and she would call back. It's 533 pm you think I've heard from her! Absolutely not! If you can avoid this piss poor company please do! Sad, sad, sad, the only reason I'm staying with them is because I have no choice. My water, sewer and trash are all tied together..

On February 23, 2026, I went out to the area where the trash bins are kept. I have a total of four bins: one blue bin for recyclables, one bin for yard waste, and two black bins for household waste. After lunch, I noticed that the two black bins—specifically, one that they had forgotten to empty—had not been collected. This marks the third time this has happened (the previous instances occurred in 2022 and 2023). I request that the driver exercise greater care when collecting the black bins to ensure that no bin is ever missed.

I scheduled a roll off dumpster for a client, so we could use it at their house, and help clean up their property. I had a conversation with TOREY ** (Employee at Republic Services) to arrange the drop-off (12 Mar 2026, Thursday) AND pick-up (16 Mar 2026, Monday: go to the phone recordings & the Service Agreement) of a dumpster. I have the Service Agreement (**, Division: 4538) for the drop off date AND the pick up date.
The dumpster arrived a day late, when I asked what the issue was, they had no legitimate response. The dumpster showed up a day late (13 Mar 2026, Friday) and we filled it up over the weekend. In my initial phone call with Republic Services, I arranged pick-up for Monday (16 Mar 2026) with TOREY ** she assured me that the it would be picked up in accordance with the SERVICE AGREEMENT. Monday came and near the end of the day I had to call Republic Services to see if they were still picking up the dumpster in accordance with the Service Agreement. The initial customer support agent was completely worthless. I asked to speak to her manager. (I was only disappointed further.)
RHONDA (the worthless/incompetent manager) told me that TOREY ** would never say that, and that my Service Agreement (with specified dates) didn't mean anything, and that I needed to have called AGAIN and schedule a pick-up for Monday the 16th. She tried to explain that my conversation/service agreement with TOREY CAIN was irrelevant.
After getting nowhere with the worthless creature, RHONDA, about the service agreement with specified dates and how they are irrelevant, we had to transition to paying for the final phase of my pathetic experience with Republic Services. When RHONDA (the worthless/incompetent manager) ran the card that was on file, she charged my client's credit card twice. While I was still on the phone I received two emails confirming the payment ($563.06 Each) with two separate confirmation numbers. I asked RHONDA why she charged my client's card twice, she assured me several times that my client's card was not ran twice. Even after I confirmed the confirmation numbers for each transaction from the TWO email receipts with RHONDA (the worthless/incompetent manager) she continued to deny it.
I informed my client to watch their credit card account for the incompetence of Republic Services. My client confirmed the duplicate charge on their credit card (FROM RHONDA). On 18 Mar 2026 I had to call AGAIN to get the refund for my client. I had to stay on the phone until I got the confirmation email. We are still pending the refund. If you are a general contractor or just in need of a dumpster, do not use this company. They practice predatory tactics to try to get as much money out of your as possible.
Employees of Republic Services, Specifically TOREY ** and RHONDA, you may not care if one customer never uses Republic Services, but the OWNER of Republic Services does care, and people like you need to realize that sometimes companies are willing to fire people like you to save their livelihood. I hope the days at your job are numbered. If owned Republic Services and I heard the recording of the phone conversations and correspondence my employees had with customers, both of you pathetic individuals would be fired. (Burleson, TX)

Third time they didn't pick up my garbage and trash. Called them. Agents are duplicitous and hard to understand. Took all my information and switched me to another unintelligible guy who took the same information and then switched me to a third customer service person who never answered the phone. Hung on the phone for 32 minutes. They never picked up. None of these scavengers are honest or capable. Republic is the worst of all.

Had to pay $900+ in penalty even though I had to break the lease due to the building we were in being sold and the place we moved to already had Republic as their trash service and is included in the cost of my lease,

This is the worst business I’ve ever had to deal with. They messed many trash pick ups and did not credit my account. Their prices are extremely high. They just are not dependable. I found another service that is fabulous and I’m so happy that I canceled service with Republic. They charged me $50 to remove my garbage can. When I canceled services. I am warning everyone do not use Republic service services.

Absolute worst company you can ever hire in the Herndon VA. Cancelled services twice. Paid $35 fee both times. Still sending bills and pushing me to other people who can resolve the issue but never seems to happen. They are not picking up my trash as they are were replaced with less expensive services from Evergreen trash removal.

Stay away from this company. They raised my rate from $420.29 to $536.69 in one month with no notice. Then they required a 60 day notice even though my contract is up to cancel. It is a scam company. BEWARE!!!

Would give them a zero if I could, charge extra 106.00 dollars because a bag had the lid held up in the middle, numerous other over charges, but one driver goes around my building when he is supposed to back out and breaks corner of concrete, they knock off on month, same driver leaves arm up and tears down lumos line said they would take care of it, I had to get ladder and put line back up 3 weeks later, done with this mickey moise outfit better have their container by the weekend 3/21/26 or I will be delivering it to the nearest Repubic yard.

After being a loyal paying customer for over 13 years, I finally had enough. Multiple issues with customer service over time, inability to get any actual answers even when promised a call back and follow up email. Then to be hit with the $60 per can pickup fee when I cancelled. Let me get this straight... I pay you ever increasing prices and you provide the cans for free BUT it will cost me to have you go away. Feel a bit silly to have been loyal LONG after all of my neighbors switched services. Lesson learned - never again!

I have been trying to get my service restored for three weeks. Originally I was given a drop off date of March 13, then I called and was given a date of March 17th, so I called because we still had not received the trash can. Theorist person said, "I am so sorry but it will be delivered on the 27th" - I called again and I was told the driver was on the way, but that was a lie. Mind you it took me three calls to get to someone I thought could help because he could at least see that the order was placed. It is now after 6pm and we still have not received the trash can. The sad part is that this is the only provider we are allowed to use. The customer service sucks and the wait times to talk to someone has ranged from 15 to 35 minutes only resulting in me being transferred, but miss a payment and that $35.00 late fee goes on there really quick. Please do better!

Scheduled for a mattress to be picked up. Didn’t pick it up.!!! called twice they said he was coming to get it on Thursday, which was the schedule day never showed up called the next day. Talk to supervisor said he would take care of it and call me back never called me back.!!! I mean don’t run a company that says picks up large bulk items you take the time to schedule it. Take it out there by your mailbox wrap it and then they make excuses on why he didn’t pick it up.!!

Republic Services took over from our prior trash provider. I have a commercial business. We have consistently had issues with our pickups. They don't show up, then when they do, we get overage fees we need to argue. They say they can't come due to inclement weather, even when the parking lot is clear and I've paid extra to shovel out the dumpster. They say our dumpster is blocked by a vehicle, and can't send a picture because "their own truck is blocking the image". When we call, we get different answers from customer service or are shuffled along and have to repeat our stories to multiple people. I'm done. Literally on hold over an hour trying to cancel services and keep getting transferred to new people. Don't even start with them if you want to keep your sanity.

Here in Lawsonville NC you can definitely tell everywhere they go because there will be a line of trash all over the sides of the road..It's ridiculous and polluting and trashing up our neighborhoods!!

Absolute worst company you can ever hire in the Houston area. They never pick up on the day they’re supposed to. They charge overcharges for environmental fees and also charge a container drop off fee. Do not call them. They are a rip off and they’re never up on time and they don’t do anything to help you. Don’t you give any money back and also you reschedule a new pick up when they miss a day and they still don’t come for that pick up. Trust me. Don’t waste your money. It’s literally the worst company.

What a joke! I have had issues with them in the past over price increases and overcharging. This time when I cancelled their service they failed to tell me there was a 60 pick up fee. The tote is still sitting in my driveway for 2 months waiting for them to pick it up. They have charged me twice and every time I call I get a Different answer. Always a refund due to their error, but never a refund, and more late charges. Today I paid $130 to be done with them, and customer service basically said I was the reason for the charges.
I cancelled service in January, told me I was "paid up" until Feb, and they would pick up the container. Again I was billed in Feb, they said it would be refunded, and today in March I had to pay that bill, and was told "I demanded a stop payment"...that never happened. Why would they tell me I was going to be issued a refund if I chose to stop the payment. For having "recorded lines" they sure have a lot of miscommunication, errors and customer blaming. Never again. Also, I was being charged $100 more than our local services

They do not honor their deals. Our subdivision had negotiated a neighborhood rate with them. But they have been raising the rates now every year. It is now doubled. Also, different people in our neighborhood who are getting the same service from them, all pay different rates. We know this because we discuss it on our neighborhood site. They have been overcharging us for at least two to three years, and now they want to charge us to pick up their trash cans when we cancel! Don't try calling them unless you have at least an hour to waste on hold.

Do not use them! They had me paying double what I signed up for. When I called them to cancel because of the high cost, they tried to get me to stay by cutting it back down to half the cost a month. Then had to send an email stating why I was cancelling. Still got another bill.

Republic Services billed me for three months of service (Feb. through April 2026) knowing that the city I live in mandated a single provider other than Republic starting in March. I paid one-third of the bill covering the period Republic provided service (with their consent by phone). However, since that time I have been bombarded by late notices and phone calls indicating my bill is late. I have not been able to resolve this issue by phone. This practice (billing for services that won't be performed) is unethical at best and more likely fraudulent.

Absolutely the worst trash removal service I've had the displeasure of dealing with--and that says a lot as I once used Waste Management. First off, I have to use Republic because I live in Gwinnett County, GA and our property taxes "pay" for their services, so I have no choice. The drivers are absolute jerks who will go out of their way to put emptied bins right in front of my driveway, forcing me to have to get out of my vehicle and move the bin when I get home so I can enter my driveway. Even moving the bin farther down the curb does nothing as they'll just walk it up to place it there. One even walked into my yard to put it in the middle of my yard--he walked like 60 feet to do it, too. He really went out of his way to put it farther away from where I need to take it after they dump it. That's if they dump it. They've straight-up rolled right past my house without dumping my bin. That's fun to deal with.
Four days after saying my bin wasn't dumped, someone called me to schedule a pick-up date--which was the day before my regular pick-up day. Yeah, thanks for that. Oh, and we once went three weeks without pick-up once. Yep, weather delay, then weather delay--but we were told after the second week to leave our bins outside and they would be picked up. They weren't. Another entire week went by and we all had overflowing bins when they finally came. Heaven forbid the drivers have to actually work. So yeah, if you aren't forced to use this horrid company for trash removal, go with someone else. Anyone else.

So I wanted to share my recent experience with Republic Waste Services that way anyone who uses their services or are looking to get their services you are fully aware of what kind of company this is. I have had garbage service with them for 3 years we started out paying $90 a month and over the 3years it has now doubled in price. I had finally had enough of paying over $160 for just waste services so I called on 1/23 to inquire about when my billing period ended I was told that my new billing cycle started on 2/1 and I promptly let them know I wanted to cancel my services and they assured me it would be cancelled on 1/31. They arranged to come and pick up my can the following week. Ok so now this is where things take a turn for the worse.....
I got a call last week that my balance had not been paid-past due of $160.53. I'm so confused at this point I cancelled my services so I shouldn't owe anything?!?!? So I call them and they give me some bullshit excuse on why I was invoiced saying I didn't call in until the 23rd and the bill was generated on the 20th but she said she would assure me I would have a 0 balance. Even though the billing invoice date was 2/9. Which as far as I know 2/9 is after 1/20?!? Ok so I have to call and argue and fight with these idiots to clear the balance. After speaking with multiple reps and supervisors I got my balance down to 0. In the future I will not recommend this company to anyone. They are shisty people who just want to steal your money!!!!

Cancelled back in 2025. Still being charged. They have a crappy excuse each time I call them on the charges, and have said multiple times that they are issuing a refund. All lies. No refunds have arrived. Now reporting the charges as fraud to my bank and reporting them to the BBB.

Absolutely 0 transparency with pricing. I’ve had missed pickups and told my trash had to be out by 7. But pickups are as early as 4am? They said they had a picture my cans weren’t out so they won’t come get my missed pickup and the picture they said with the address wasn’t even my address. I’ll be switching companies when my term is over and I will NOT recommend this company. And I should have listened to everyone before signing up - however the sign up was easier than other companies but now I know why.

Every January they increase the bill by 20% or more. Last year I called and they lowered it by half the increase, this year, raised by 20% again. I called, after 10 minutes on hold, someone answered and said I needed a different number and connected me for another hold, which I gave up on after another 10 minutes. They have no consideration for a person's time. I will NEVER use them again.

Would give zero stars if I could. Charged me 50 bucks to start service. Took 2 weeks to drop off a can, invoiced me another 70 bucks before they even picked up my trash once, then proceeded to miss the next week's pickup. Completely dishonest and incompetent. Avoid at all costs.

Republic missed my pickup because my can got blown over by the wind it was laying in the driveway, the driver just drove past it. Let's think about this. The driver stands up to drive the truck so it was too much work for him to put the truck in park and step out to pickup the can up and then grab it with the arm and empty my can. So let's think about this. The can got blown over by the wind which means that it is not very heavy so I called them at 10:30am and told them they missed my pickup and was told, "Sorry. We will get someone to pick it up." Went out for the mail at 2:30 pm. Still not picked up. Called again and was told the same thing. "Sorry. Will have someone there by end of day." Went out at 5:30 pm. Still not picked up. Guess I`ll just wait till next week and hope the can does not get blown over by the wind. VERY POOR SERVICE.

This company is ridiculously expensive, for 5 minutes worth of work per month (the time it takes to pick up trash 4x) they charged $74. Other companies, I discovered, charge less than half of that. So....I switched, paid my bill off, the end...I thought. Then I got another bill for $76. So I thought maybe I had mis-calculated and paid it. NOW I got a bill for $38 TO PICK UP THEIR OWN TRASH CONTAINER!!! What next?!? Tried to call them but no way to talk to anyone; can't even leave a voice message. I wrote to them. No response except to keep leaving automated messages about paying my bill but still no way to talk to a person.
Do not do business with this company if you have a choice!!! They also claim to be "eco-friendly". They do not separate out anything, or ask customers to do so. All trash--plastic, metal, batteries, old appliances, etc.--go into the same container, into one truck, and no way are they going to separate that all out themselves! Lots of hype, huge prices with frequent price increases, and literally no customer service. But...they do pick up trash. One star.

My company has used Republic Services for many years for trash removal. My contracts were set to expire and I contacted them to get them to match the rate from some other bids I received. They said they would match the rate if I provided a written quote which I provided. They kept sending me proposals but the rate never was close to what the new company was gonna charge. I let my customer service representative know that things were not going to work out and that we would be cancelling our services based on the 60 day notice.
I began this process in May of 2025 and paid for services through July 31, 2025. They led me to believe that everything was taken care of. They picked up their containers from the locations but continued to bill me. 3 months later their accounts department began calling saying we had an unpaid balance and that the service wasn’t canceled because they did not receive a certified letter. The customer service representative did not inform me it had to be done via a certified letter and the contract has no mailing address to send a certified letter.
I still had 3 active accounts with this company but they elected to suspend services at those locations even though they were prepaid months ahead. I have since had to get another company to bring new containers to those locations for trash removal due to health code violations and city ordinances. They have put these cancelled accounts into collection and the collection company is as bad as Republic. They are probably owned by the same people. They will call your phone over and over from different numbers stating that one of your accounts is at security risk or that they are with the fraud prevention department. The only fraud is Republic Services.

Republic is by far the worst company on so many levels. They miss garbage pickup so many times. When you call the company they are very friendly and assure you they will take care of it right away. They missed my pickup again on Friday. I called Monday, they assured it would be picked up Tuesday. It wasn’t. Called Wednesday and talked to supervisor who told me a resolution would be made within 4 hours and she would call later to confirm. No call after 6 hours. I called and talked to another supervisor who said it would be resolved in 2 hours and she would call back to confirm it was. No call back again. Worst company of lying customer service ever.

This company is a mobster garbage company, don't recommend using them unless you like mob tactics. One you sign the rates go up first billing cycle, and every one after. If you want out, they make it difficult as possible. Read the contract, they have no recourse for the customer, just them.

I cannot even count the number of times that I have had to ask that our dumpster be put back into the "required" fenced in area and to please let us be able to close the lids if they manage to put it back into place. Customer service is always super nice, and they tell me it will be no problem, but I am just not even going to call anymore. I am just a broken record. I also see the price is getting higher and higher with no notice of that increased price.

With Republic for over 10 years. Rate went up over $600 over the years but we always paid for the full year. Called in January to speak about a lower rate. She was able to adjust my account down to $400 per year since we did find someone who serviced are area cheaper. I continued to get calls weekly (still getting calls this week even though I paid weeks ago) that my service was going to be shut off.
So I called again. They said she gave me "misinformation" and I needed to pay for the quarter in full before my new rate started. I paid the $300 and was told that if I called before 2/13 and canceled I would not be charged for month 2 or 3 of the quarter. I called to cancel on 2/10. I asked how I would receive the $191.51 balance since I am canceling before 2/13. I was again told I was given "misinformation" and they couldn't cancel my service until 2/24 and would be charged the full $97.76 for month two then another $58 to remove the can a week later.

The weather these last 2 weeks was awful. Yes it was difficult to navigate the roads. BUT every time I called with an update I was told uncertain, this time being Wednesday Feb 4. I called 3 times for an update. Each time I was given wrong answers. It happens that they showed up on Tuesday, despite the number of times I asked. Guess what ? Today is Friday Feb 6, no garbage has been collected. The answers were that they would come back since they "missed" my house. I will be working with a new company soon.

They have lied to me on five phone calls in three days pertaining to picking up all the trash on my road. They assure me each time it will be picked up, but it has not been. There was a one day delay due to the weather of the large snowfall. They picked up the trash and recycles from the church on my road, but the driver didn’t decide to drive another 500 feet and pick up the trash cans at the four houses past the church. Now they’re telling me it’ll be next week. It’s already been three weeks and we haven’t had a trash pick up. I’m gonna look into getting another Service.

I’m sitting here under a flickering neon light, staring at a bill that looks less like a service statement and more like a ransom note from a narco trafficker. The numbers have climbed. Again. A slow, insidious creep that would make a loan shark blush. Let’s be clear: I am terminating my subscription to your services, effective immediately.
I’ve watched this "adjustment" dance for months. First, it started at $65 for three months. Then it’s 90/three months! Now? It’s a pure, unadulterated cash grab that smells worse than the rotting citrus in my bin; really, guy's 124$/three months. You’ve mistaken my driveway for a gold mine, and the vein has officially run dry.

We have our trash pickup with Republic Services. In the past, we have had our trash pickup delayed or totally missed. We get misleading messages. Thing like they are on a on a one day delay. Then they don't come. Currently our trash has not been picked in a week and a half. Yes we have had 2 winter weather events in the last 2 week. Us and all of our neighbors have been coming and going on our road without any issues. I called again this morning to find out when it will be picked up. The answer I got was possible Friday of this week or next Monday on our regular scheduled pickup day. I understand their safety for their drivers. But when delivery companies are coming and going with no trouble, why is it so hard for tandem axle truck that weighs 10s of thousands of pounds can go where everyone else is going with no problems. Customer Service offered me a $5.00 credit because of issue. WOW.

I put my trash service on hold while my house was up for sale. No one was living there, and they still charged me. I then moved out of state, and they demanded that I reinstate my trash service, pay for another month, and then they would officially cancel my service and stop charging me. I called to rectify the situation and was put on hold three times amounting to 35 minutes, as they passed me from one department to the next. At the end, they told me that they couldn’t cancel my trash service until I restarted it. Nothing but lunacy running this company. They’re thieves!

I would not recommend this company at all. I would give a negative number for a rating. It is almost impossible to actually talk to someone. This company is by far the worst. After being on hold forever, the customer service rep hung up on me while I was still talking.

If I was able to give no stars, I would. I prior rotor review because I could not get a hold of the company for three or more weeks to shut my service off when I finally got a callback from them. They told me they were charging me for my three weeks and then a fourth week because it was the end of the billing cycle. Then they proceeded to tell me they were gonna charge me to clean my trash cans when they came to pick them up, we set up a date for them to pick them up. They never pick them up because they said it snowed and they were knocked down. I don’t care what company you go with please please do not use this company. I’m in the process of filling out paperwork for the BBB.

Republic has been a good company to work with for our business. Our Account Manager Jordan ** has been extremely helpful and quick to respond when we have questions. Overall, the drivers have been timely when it comes to pickups and drop offs for our 2 dumpsters. My only critique is that a few drivers have had negative attitudes on occasion, but when we pass on the situation things have been quick to be resolved.

Out trash has not been picked up for over a week. They finally picked up one building and not the other. The drivers lie about why they don't pick up the trash, and the customer service people are incompetent. The entire month of January our service has been horrible. We will be canceling our services with them. I urge people to go with another company. Do not use Republic!!

This is absolutely a horrible company. I placed a small box on top of my can to throw away. The driver stopped, got out and put the box on the ground and proceeded to walk over to the truck to dump my can leaving the small box on the ground. They tell you to put the bulk out on certain days. When you do it will take weeks even a month before they will pick it up. If I could give a negative star they would have it. They seem to not care. I have video of them leaving trash bags next to the cans and driving on. When did the trash men become so lazy.. The so called "Bulk Pick UP" is a joke. The old Waste Management company is a true waste management company, those guys would take whatever you left by the cans (Bagged Garbage, even tree limbs). If you had bulk and it was your pick up day they would call a separate truck to pick it up no matter the size. I wished we had an alternate choice.

Increased rates, some teas left behind, missing pickups with poor weather as an excuse when there is no longer a hazard. If they have reduced expenses shouldn't they give a partial refund for missed pickups? How about a roll-off nearby (in the county) for customer drop-offs when missing pickups.

Many missed pick-ups, price keeps going up. When on a fixed income we can not afford these prices. They only gave us 7 dollars off our bill when they never picked up our trash for a month. They said the road was bad but it was plowed. The school bus comes down our road every day with no problem. You need to do better.

A different provider was bought out by this Republic trash. They raised the rates almost immediately. Bought new trucks. They leak hydraulic fluid like crazy. I canceled their service. Then they charged me a 55$ fee to come get their containers. Can't say enough about this Chicago mentality out here in the country!!!

I am on the HOA Board for a Condo Association in Arvada CO. Republic has consistently provided quality services. This week we had strangers leave 2 old sofas in front of our trash bins. The driver, Ronnie, for Republic who came yesterday scheduled a pick up for us. When I called Republic about the time for pick up and the cost, I received efficient and courteous assistance from Rachel. The cost was very reasonable. The pick up was today by a very friendly driver who efficiently loaded and removed the two sofas.

We have been loyal customers with Republic Waste Services. We started out paying $84.00, automatically taken out of our bank, about 10 years ago. I just looked through my mobile banking and found out they raised our rates to $299.00 every 3 months. What the hell!!! I canceled with their service ASAP. If you're receiving service with them, I would look into how they may be STEALING your money too!! My service was out of Demotte Indiana. 😔 😟 🙁 😥

I believe if they had some sort of incentive that their drivers would miss less cans. If the drivers had to pay like two dollars a can, that’s a miss they would be more vigilant. It would help if they slow down and abide by the speed limit in your your park. they raced from one speed bump to the next. I don’t know if that actually speeds up the service or not. I don’t see any reason for them to drive so fast. I’ve had my recycling missed four times. I called to report it the third and fourth times and was question whether or not I was telling the truth well, we only have a part of one other one. I said well now you have a report of two it happens too often or maybe they should have an incentive for not missing any cans or the client should get a rebate each time a can is missed. I bet 1 million bucks the service would improve.

This company is absolutely terrible. Highly suggest finding anyone else or just burning your trash. It’s a complete waste of money & time. The drivers are rude and lazy they will pick up other non customers trash for side money and ignore the paying customers can. They will also show up at any random time day of service with a window that’s open for 12hrs so you can’t get a routine for putting the can out on time. Absolutely the worst company I’ve ever worked with. Take your money anywhere else. I promise you won’t regret it.

Services are spotty and often delayed. Rates increase VERY often and unless you complain they keep increasing over and over again. Do NOT get tricked on the intro rate unless you plan to switch every 6 months to a year. Will be changing after this last increase and save almost 20% on the first quote from the neighbor's provider.

Republic Services is the worst trash service I have ever had to deal with. They are quick to take your money but refuse to provide the service. I would recommend any trash service besides Republic if you actually want your trash collected.

Terrible company. If I could give them a zero I would. If they miss you for a week the don't credit your account. No communication when and if there going to miss. They got through the neighborhood and if they knock over your trash can they just keep driving. Calling does no good terrible customer service, worst trash collection service in our life time. If they didn't have a monopoly on our area I would never use them.

After years of rate hikes and misc fees we finally get a cheaper, reliable option. Fortunately we didn’t have a contract we had to get out of. But they did charge a can pickup fee, which with taxes and other misc fees totaled nearly $70. To come pick up a can that they own. I will never use this company again. Anyone who does is throwing their money away.

Republic Services has been extremely unreliable. I have lived at my current residence for just over a year and have experienced repeated failures in trash and recycling pickup. When I first moved in, it took more than a month to receive my trash cans. During that time, I had to hire a private company to remove my trash to avoid attracting pests, and Republic did not reimburse or cover that cost.
Since then, the service issues have continued. Trash or recycling is frequently not collected on scheduled pickup days, and I often have to contact customer service to report missed pickups. Even then, service is only corrected about half the time. I also have to stay in constant communication with my HOA to avoid violations for issues that are entirely outside of my control. This has been an ongoing inconvenience and a significant frustration. I’ve lived in Austin for over 20 years and have never experienced this level of inconsistency with a waste management provider.

Do not use this company, if I could have left zero stars I would have. Constant price hikes, missed pickups and when you finally have had enough they charge you $65 dollars pickup. They're rude when you cancel. Worst customer service I've ever encountered...

Have been a customer for over 8 years and they have missed pickups repeatedly. When you try to get credit, they give you the run-around. They have walked my price up to over $400 per week for an 8 cubic foot dumpster. I canceled the service and signed with Waste Management for $150 a month. Now, Republic says my contract auto-renewed and I can't get out for another 5 months. I was never given any notice of a new contract starting and never signed anything. The review really should be ZERO stars. I am going to call the local news and see if they want to do an article about this fraudulent service.

I have been a customer with Republic for 3 years now. This last 6 months have been absolutely miserable. I have had 5 missed pickups in a row. I have called their customer service daily and they assure me they will pick it up the next day but do not come. When I asked for a credit for the 5 missed weeks I was only credited for 1 week (6 dollars) while my trash was not picked up for over a month.

Garbage was not picked up two weeks in July, the first week due to "severe inclimate weather" (which was untrue and not the case) and the second week due to a labor dispute. Since we pay our bill quarterly in advance, expected a credit of 2/13 of our quarterly bill, but the credit was just over 50% of that. Local office customer service department could not provide details of how the credit was calculated or why not the expected 2/13 credit (2 missed weeks of the quarterly/13 week prepaid amount).

Been a customer for 8+years. Bill has gone up multiple times in that period. This month's bill went up (for fuel charges) even though fuel prices are down in this area. Called their competitor (Granger) in this area. Granger is almost $50 cheaper for 3 months than Republic. Do your homework before signing up for Republic. And then they charge a $40 fee to pick up their container when I cancelled and when asked what if I refused to pay it....they of course will turn it over to a collection agency!

I had my trash picked up by this company for over ten years - the price continues to increase substantially to the point I changed companies. They charged me to pickup my bins because they said I couldn’t drop them off to them. I then received an invoice for pick up cost and a late fee on an invoice I just received and was not due for 15 days. I am done with this company.

Recently cancelled services with them when I moved out of state. They billed me for a bulk pickup that occurred after I moved (and it wasn’t my stuff). The phone rep. oozed disgusting pseudo empathy, but stated her supervisor told her I would have to pay it anyway. I called back and got the same from another rep, but asked to speak with someone higher up and threatened to report them, and they removed the charge. Later, I got a bill for them collecting the trash and recycling containers.
I told them that my house had sold almost immediately and that the new owners “took over” the containers and my old neighbors confirmed that. The phone rep told me they no longer serviced that area, and that is why they had to pick up the containers. O confirmed with 4 ex-neighbors that indeed they were still servicing that neighborhood. I spoke with another rep and told her I would report them, and suddenly, a supervisor was able to remove the charge. 2nd rep did apologize. 1st rep was either a sociopath or an idiot but had also oozed pseudo empathy along the lines of “I’m so sorry for your situation and I understand why you are upset but you still owe this bill.” They had occasional missed pickups, but generally came back for those when I called.

I've dealt with Republic for more than 25 years, both for work and personal service. While I've rarely had meaningful problems with service, I've had a number of issues with billing and finance. In a nutshell, they are constantly and without (in my opinion) justification raising/changing rates. I finally had enough and decided to go to another provider. I contacted Republic and they told me to ignore the bill I received (it's for future services). I was set up for autopay and assumed there wouldn't be a problem, but I went online to delete the autopay anyway. Twelve days later, the money came out of my bank account!! I contacted them and they said it was still pending and to call the next day so they could reimburse me. I called the following day only to be told that there was NOTHING they could do.
The woman I spoke with wouldn't listen to anything I had to say but kept repeating "with all due respect". I told her there was no respect for them stealing my money. She was indignant and said, "nobody is stealing your money". I told her that by definition, taking what doesn't belong to you is stealing. She offered to issue me a credit. I asked her what use a credit was if I no longer had an account(?). She had no answer other than they could do nothing about it. She then said I should contact my bank to stop payment. I tried my best (but to no avail) to explain that you can't stop payment on an ACH that has already been received. A simple fix would be to cut me a check!!!
I finally hung up, called my bank, and filed a dispute. I hope to eventually see my money, but I'm not holding my breath. I know $166 isn't much to them, but it is significant for me on a limited Social Security income. I hope to never do business with them again and will under no circumstances recommend them to anybody. Incompetent, uncaring, inefficient, and not very ethical!!!

REPUBLIC SERVICES.... NO Service — Missed Pickups, No Accountability. I understand that bad weather happens — we had nearly a foot of snow here in Colorado Springs 1/9/2026, and a delay is fine. What is not fine is the complete lack of follow-through and customer care from Republic Services. Trash was missed on Friday, and we received a text saying it would be picked up Saturday. Saturday came and went… Sunday nothing. Monday I called customer service and was told someone would come Saturday because of MLK Day — completely ignoring that I now had two weeks of trash piled up. No offer of a refund, no urgency, just “we’ll get to it eventually.”
I called back, got another rep, and was told someone would pick up by Tuesday. Tuesday came and went… still nothing. It’s now Wednesday, and I still have a full bin plus bags from the weekend and Monday. The reps act like they don’t care and like they’re the only trash service in town, with zero accountability. This is the kind of service that’s frustrating, inconvenient, and unacceptable. If you value reliability and customer care, look elsewhere. Republic Services clearly doesn’t prioritize either.

After reporting a supposed “third party” going on our property with a trash truck and walking around our house to take our trash cans that we paid for with a previous provider. They literally put someone’s broken trash can on our lawn and tried to take our Santek trash cans and replace our neighbor’s busted can with ours. When I called they claimed they owned our cans and were repossessing them. I escalated the call after the rep said it was like a car repossession and Sam the so-called “Field” manager didn’t call back. The rep who cared called but he did not. Then our trash service was canceled.

This is the only waste removal company in my neighborhood. I have been trying to establish new residential service for over a week with zero luck. I have had to wait hold for over 45 minutes with no one answering the call. When I tried to use their automated chat, I got shuffled to a "live" agent. She asked me for my customer number, when I told her that Republic never sent me a new customer number, she said that would have to be answered by a agent over the phone. When I told her that I had tried that, and no one would answer, she didn't care, that it wasn't her problem. This is seriously the worst managed company I have ever had to deal with. If I could use another waste removal company, I would. My previous waste removal company never gave me a headache. After reading so many negative reviews, I fear future problems, if I'm ever able to establish service. If I could give a "-10" rating I would.

It's been 3 weeks since we had a pick up,, and not just me, it's the whole neighborhood. Numerous people have called and they always say it will be picked up tomorrow, but tomorrow never comes. At this point the animals have gotten into the bags on the ground since there's no room left in the bins. Republic is not a good company. In fact they are total TRASH! NO PUN INTENDED LOL.

Have been a customer for over 15 years. I would strongly not recommend Republic Services. When using their service, you get locked into 36-month contract that auto renews if you do not contact them, but you must contact them 60 days before end of contract to get out of the contract. If you cancel service before then you will pay a large sum of money. But they will offer you a 1-year price deal and then after giving you increase without notice. Per their terms and conditions they do not need to give you notice of any price increases. I received 2 increases in 1 year totaling $168.75. But they would be happy to renegotiate a 1-year price deal then lock you in for another 3 years. They price gouge the customer and once the customer realizes they are being gouged they will pay thousands to Republic for no services. Just them taking your money. The review really should be ZERO stars.

Worst customer service EVER! Quick to take your money but try calling them for ANYTHING! I have been on hold 4 separate times for a minimum of 30 minutes. If you have a choice, NEVER use this company!

Only leaving 1 star because zero stars isn't an option. My entire experience with Republic Services has been a nightmare, start to finish. First trying to cancel service when I moved required multiple phone calls where I was placed on home for durations of 40+ minutes, only to reach an hour where there reps were gone for the day but rather than forwarding me to a voicemail or any sort of message that would've indicated the hold was futile I remained on hold, and would have, indefinitely.
Next setting up pickup at my new house went suspiciously well, the containers were dropped off but the start up fee was ridiculously over priced. We had the service from Oct 9 until Jan and experienced more than 7 missed pickups. Each time we would report those on their web portal, nothing would be done. My husband and I both took turns calling and occasionally we would get through and they'd arrange a late pickup, or ONE time offered a $4 credit. The missed or delayed pickups persisted but of course the bills were always on time. Over $100 each time despite us not receiving the services we were paying for. I ultimately decided to cancel the 'service' and go with another provider.
The cancellation process yielded a very unprofessional and accusatory response from the agent. After waiting on hold another 40 minutes I was told I never reported any of these issues and was accused of lying about the experience which was infuriating. All the time on hold, countless conversations, countless 'resolutions' only to be told 'I see no issues on your account'. The power of recording is the responsibility of the business, not the consumer and I found it incredibly unprofessional the tone and manner in which the call was handled. The rep agreed to cancel the account, told me there would be one more pickup and that the following week my containers would be collected. None of these things happened. No trash pickup, no recycling pickup and the containers remain on my property.
We have an HOA and our new service provider has already dropped off their containers. I cannot have inordinate amounts of waste containers on my property, nor do I want to. I called again to see if Republic could have a pickup scheduled and they placed me on hold for 46 minutes. I called back and told the next rep not to forward me to anyone but to document a formal complaint and arrange a pickup. He was nice enough and agreed to escalate but we shall see if anything is done about the issues.
So far my husband and I have lost COUNTLESS hours trying to get resolve on this matter only to be treated disrespectfully in return. I cannot fathom how a company this unprofessional remains in business this long. It's easily the worst customer experience I have ever had with a company. Save your time, money, and energy and use any other waste services available.

Don’t ever miss a trash pick up because if you do, only once in 5 years, there is no grace, you’re just up a creek. We put our trash out at our usual time. The trash person happened to come earlier than usual. We have had the same trash schedule for YEARS. And when I called to have them pick up they were not willing to work with me at all. And I wasn’t talking to someone local, I was talking to someone at a call center somewhere else. Do NOT go with this company unless you have to.

They charge for an overfilled bin, even when I am onsite and have pictures of the UNDERFILLED bin. Over an hour on the phone, three reps transfer me to a line no one picks up. Republic is getting away with this all over the place. If there is a class-action anywhere, I want to be a part of it.

They have so many restrictions on picking up trash, that make no sense. I have 5 boxes outside less then 40 pounds and their lazy employees left the boxes. Toledo needs different trash services, especially a company that doesn't want to do their job!! They just want the money, if we take away the money and give it to a company that actually does the service they are being paid to do!

I had a frustrating experience with Republic Services regarding recycling and billing. In 2025, I called to have my recycle cart picked up because I couldn’t afford the fee. At no point did the agent tell me I needed to contact another department to officially cancel my recycling service. I assumed that requesting a cart pickup and stating I no longer needed the service was enough to cancel it.
Despite this, I received a bill for the first quarter of 2026 charging me $29.77 for recycling (Jan–Mar 2026) even though the cart was picked up in 2025 and I had already said I didn’t want the service anymore. When I called the billing department and explained, they said I had to pay the full amount because cancellation wouldn’t be processed until the end of January 2026, after which I’d get a refund for Feb/March.
In short, I was being charged for a service I hadn’t used since 2025, with no option to pay for trash pickup only. This has become a matter of principle for me—I wasn’t told about the need to call another department, and now I’m paying for something I didn’t use. After over 30 years in customer service, I see this as a textbook example of how not to treat customers. As a senior on a fixed income, $29.77 may be nothing to a big company, but it means a lot to me.

I wouldn’t even put one star but it’s forcing me to. It’s going on 4 weeks of no pick up. That’s almost a whole month and it’s supposed to be picked up weekly. Tell me how that happens. You call in and you get fed lies saying their en route. They haven’t made it there yet. When I watch them take the top half of our neighborhood and not return for the bottom half it’s robbery. I pay for you take my trash weekly not when it feels convenient for you to take it. I will be up tomorrow morning waiting to see your truck in my driveway and I will go tell them the same I’m putting on here. It’s truly sad get paid to do one easy job and can’t even fulfill it.

Our driver, George, is phenomenal, our account representative, Pamela **, is absolutely the best. Her response time to any call or question is extremely quick. She's very knowledgeable and always looks out for our best interests. Republic Services is an excellent company for our needs.

I have residential trash service with this company for almost 1 year and this company (Republic Trash Service) is most worst trash service I ever had. During the 1 year each week, they missed pick up and customer service is so worthless!! Always said, they will come next day to pick up missed trash and never show up. It's not reliable company. They service are very bad. I will not recommend to anyone for this horrible company.

Republic Services has missed our recycling pickup more than half the time for 5 months straight. I call 3 to 4 times a month about these missed pickups but there's almost never an answer given as to why the pickups were missed and no clear path to resolving the problem. We have completely lost hope that it will ever get fixed, hoping that the City of Santa Ana fires them for incompetence and we can get Waste Management back.

I'm a landlord. Republic is one of the worst companies I've dealt with. For years. There are certain addresses they continue to miss. Calling for customer services is a waste of time. My son has paid for service at one of his rentals for months. They just don't pick it up and don't deal with the issue.

I will never use this company (republic) ever again. Lost a customer for life. I do not complain much, but when companies take advantage of people I have a problem with it. I might contact a lawyer out of principle. Canceled service and they are charging me to pick up their can. They threatened me with late fees and billing me for the cost of the can if I did not pay it. I found a garbage company for same service for more than half the price. I will be knocking on every neighbors door I can with your blue can out there and will be letting them know they can get service half the price. Will be printing fliers and putting them into every single mailbox I see in my neighborhood while walking my dog and letting them know how TRASH their customer service is. Good thing I canceled. Will never use their service as long as I’m breathing and will advise others not too. Goodbye Republic Services. I don’t wish you well.

Republic continued to raise all their fees with no explanation as to why. I decided to cancel when I realized I was paying double what Waste Management charged monthly. I called to cancel and was told my refund check would be mailed. I never got it. Talked to customer service through chat again about it and was told it would be mailed. 2 months later, called again and was told I didn’t call to request it. Not sure why it is not standard to mail the refund check. I should not have to call to request it, especially ask 3 times for it. Then I was told my refund was smaller because they charge $80 to pick up 2 bins. Republic is a joke and rip off.

I ordered 1 dumpster from them. I filled it and they picked it up. A second one was delivered. I didn't order or need the second one. Their operator on three phone did NOT speak English. Now they're trying to charge me for something I didn't want because their employee doesn't understand basic English.

Cracked my trash can, city had them bring me a new one and they brought me a dirty one, extremely filthy and cracked Lid. Can forget to mention the frequent missed pick-ups. Couple weeks ago, I seen trash spill everywhere when they picked it up and the guy did not bother getting out to help clean up his mess until my neighbor walked over to pick it up.

Be careful dealing with this company. I'm trying to stop my service and they tell me that my contract is self renewing and I owe for 1 more year. At 275,00 a month be fight with them for 3 months. Looks like it going to my lawyer.

The drivers with this company are very incompetent. They charge so much for their monthly services and even if you pay extra, they can't do their job right. We are constantly having issues with their service and it's a shame they can't get it right.

I'm extremely disappointed with Republic Services. Despite assurances from both a call center representative and an automated message, no one has shown up for the scheduled extra pickup — two days in a row. This extra lift was required due to an earlier error on Republic Services’ part, when the call center contracted the wrong service date. Not only was the original mistake frustrating, but the failure to correct it has made the situation even worse. At this point, it’s clear that Republic Services struggles with both accurate scheduling and fixing their own mistakes. This has been a horrible customer experience.

Republic Services is the true definition of garbage—not in the sense of handling garbage, but in the sense of policies, service, and overall customer experience. If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to enter a long-term relationship with a dumpster fire, look no further. Missed trash pickups are treated like rare cosmic events; apparently, seeing a Republic truck is the equivalent of witnessing a solar eclipse. My trash met more raccoons than Republic employees. Trying to cancel their service feels like a side quest written by someone who hates humanity: you’ll battle three bosses, two dragons, and at least one customer service rep who mysteriously “can’t find your account.”
Their no-other-service clause is equally impressive—Republic Services is the only company I’ve seen that refuses to pick up your trash yet insists you still belong to them. This isn’t a contract; it’s a hostage situation. Imagine ordering a pizza that never arrives, and then being charged an early termination fee for daring to want a functional dinner—that’s how their cancellation penalties feel. Their policies, systems, and employees operate with the coordination of a group project where nobody communicates, nobody participates, and somehow you’re the one who gets graded. Across multiple states, the experience has been consistently dysfunctional. So here’s the verdict: buyer beware. If you hear the name “Republic Services,” run. Not walk. Not jog. Run like Forrest Gump after he grew the beard. One star because Yelp won’t let me give zero, and if they ever add negative stars, I’ll be back.

I work for a company that gets trash pickup twice a week. We have the largest dumpster that Republic has available. This is by far the worse company for trash pick up I have seen. We consistently get missed on trash pick ups, sometimes both days of the week. Then, when you call them up, the wait time is sometimes as long as 20 minutes. Then when you leave your number for a call back, they don't call you back. Worse trash company ever!

My elderly dad was residential customer for 20 years. They do an annual fee increase until the end of time, no ceiling, so when I was reviewing his budget, I discovered horrendously expensive service due to 20 years of unjustified annual rate increases. Then when I cancelled the service to start with another company, guess what, Republic STILL charged the credit card for the following quarter. That's criminal. Can't call it an innocent error, because trust me they knew loud and clear that I was cancelling the service. They wanted to renegotiate the rate but it was still higher than the new client special at a rival provider.

My trash pick up has been on Wednesday since we moved into our house. Today I came home and my barrel was smashed and the lid was broken off. My mailbox was laying on the ground in pieces. When I called. All I got was we will have to investigate. If you have a choice of service do not choose Republic Services. The worst drivers on the road.

Increasing bill is one thing.. I cancelled within a billing cycle in order not to be charged the upcoming cycle.. Now they are charging me that month plus an additional because it took them a month to come get the dumpster (residential), and also removal..

They used to have good service but has gradually gone downhill. Fees have increased dramatically and overcharges are common and trying to reach their nonexistent customer service is a feat only for those with monk like patience.

We bought a house that only Republic Services, set up the service and when the previous owner canceled his service they came and took the cans. I’ve been calling for a week to get new cans because the mixup is their fault, not mine. I expected they’d get on the ball and bring me some cans. Nope. They’ll deliver them on my normal garbage day which means I will then have 2 weeks worth of garbage for them to pick up the following week. I spoke with 5 different people and still no one can do a damn thing to help even when THEY ARE AT FAULT!
Terrible customer service. I do not recommended! I was done before we were even able to get started. The girl I spoke to yesterday LIED to me about calling me back in 30-60 mins to let me know if I can get cans this morning. Fully aware they were closing in 5 minutes. Going to the dump weekly is cheaper and more reliable than this stupid company. Think twice before using republic. They’re horrible.

Republic prices are outrageous. Plus, they charge $50+ to deliver a trash can, then $50+ to pick it up when you cancel. There are many other companies out there that can take care of you. Use any other and you will be better off.

Republic has started issuing texts and leaving notes on my and my neighbors bins. They demand that the large bins be two feet and no more from the road. My disabled neighbor has a hard time pulling the big bins, and if three feet away from the road they leave a note. Apparently their employees have become too lazy to step an extra foot to help a senior with a barrel. They are getting crazy on price, and now don’t care about their customers, only about ease for their apparent so called new trucks. We are rural not city, and it is time for me and my neighbors to get a friendlier local company that cares, like this company did before being bought out by Republic.

Updated on 11/22/2025: Here we go again… This is the third week in a row we have had missed pickups at our property. Breach of contract!! Terrible company!! Guess I’ll have to call Republic office AGAIN on Monday to request another credit and property cleanup… This is getting SO old...
Original Review: Republic Services is probably the worst trash company I have ever dealt with as not only a property manager but also an apartment building resident & on-site manager. They are constantly missing pickups, which their phone staff attempts to lie and claim were completed or are scheduled to be completed “late”. When you do report several missed pickups in a row and trash overflowing + making a mess of your property they tell you “they will get back to you in 3 business days” and then when they do eventually come out the techs do NOT adequately pickup the absolute mess caused solely by their missed pickups.
THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS!!! I am not sure how they are still in business in the state of CA given the absolute lack of customer service, failure to deliver to consumers on contracted services, and causing ongoing health and safety hazards to the community (all while the employees continue going on regular strikes requesting more money, while expecting to do less work)!! Absolutely TERRIBLE company & employees…would give zero stars if that were an option.

Worst trash service around! Pickups were at least consistent, but their billing is insane!! The last bill we received they wanted over $300.00 from us for the quarterly services!! I found a company they can give us the same service for only $66.00 per quarter. We cancelled with Republic. Now they want $59.00 for coming to get their trash bin!! I’m paying $66.00 at the new company for 3 months…so at 59.00 to come get their bin, that is almost 3 months of service at the new company. Republic is greedy, in my opinion.

This company has the worst website and customer service. I placed an order for a dumpster container, and the online quote was $736, and I scheduled it to be delivered. There was an order confirmation about the delivery and pickup date. However, it didn't get delivered on the delivery date, and they didn't call or email me about it.
I've been on call with them to get the dumpster delivered as soon as possible, the next business day, and they said I have to pay an extra $400, and they don't have the size I ordered. I've been on the phone with them for 5 hours trying to get the dumpster order updated, and they take a very long time to confirm any detail or do anything throughout the process.

Every Saturday morning at 4:30 AM I've been woken up by crashing dumpster. Why does this pick up need to be so early and on a Saturday. Well there is no good reason except to disrupt mine and all that I have spoken with about lives. I've complained many times in the past 4 years but those who runs waste removal don't care.

This company is the absolute worst. Their missed pickups are more frequent then their actual pickups. They will send an email saying your pickup is complete when the trash bin is literally still sitting on the premises. They will say, "We couldn't pick up the bin because access was blocked." When I take a photo and nothing is blocking the bins. While the office staff are generally courteous there really isn't much they can do. Because the city assigned them to us we are stuck as they have zero incentive to do a good job. Wish we had the ability to hire a private company.

Terrible. Signed up for services 5 weeks ago, paid a deposit and 2 months worth. Trash only got picked up 2x and both times we had to call and report it, and still wait days for the pick up to even happen. Customer Service claims they will call back yet never will. They sure came to drop the waste bucket off and sure will come to pick up their property now that we have canceled - but never once to provide the service we paid for. Ridiculous and customer service reps have zero clue as to why/ just don't care enough to help. Save your money. They are absurd.

I have used Republic Services in both residential and commercial settings. I cancelled residential service because the drivers would constantly miss pick ups and getting it fixed on the phone was always a 45-minute ordeal. On the commercial side they use deceptive and unethical business practices to increase profits and trap customers. You may agree to a year contract for dumpster service for a certain price. However, during the year the pricing will increase. Most people are busy and think it must just be an overage charge and pay the bill.
Unfortunately, the fine print of the contract says that if you pay the bill you have agreed to the new amount. What is worse, you call to cancel, and they say sure no problem, but do not tell you that you have to send the cancellation to a specific email 60 days before the year end. If you do not cancel in a specific way the contract automatically continues for another year. If you try to cancel after it renews, they say you are responsible for a hefty contract cancellation fee. Horrible unethical company. DO NOT USE!!

For every person complaining about the poor service, please contact your state Attorney General and/or state Consumer Affairs office and file a formal complaint for deceptive business practices. I was not aware of the 3 year "contract". I have requested a copy of the agreement/contract multiple times and have not received a copy from R.S. Many, many issues with missed pick-ups; multiple charges for the same service; failed actions promised by many customer care reps. I have not been able to cancel the service and every month is like torture. I filed a formal complaint with the state, and will file a federal complaint asap.

Would absolutely not recommend this company at all! We have been with them for 5 years. Our bill started out at $69 every 3 months and kept going up every few months. By the time we contacted them to cancel which is ridiculous to even get anyone on the phone our bill is almost $200 every 3 months! We pay 3 months in advance and when we actually got someone on the phone to cancel they still threaten to send this last bill to collections if we refuse to pay it?? Their service is not the best and the drivers are inconsistent. We literally pay $28 a month now through a local company and the service is by far better! It’s a shame when companies get so big that they bully their customers! I emailed them mind you since September 12th since I attempted 5 times to call and they have extremely high wait times to get someone on the phone! Never ever again will I use or recommend this service!

I'm really disappointed with Republic Services. Their monthly fees keep increasing without a clear explanation, they have you in a trap with a contract with 6 month of cancelation fees and more.... Is a Real Scam.

Paid for a sticker for trash and recycling through the town but the recyclable driver does pick up my recyclable. This has happened at least 8 times in the past 4 months. Customer services says they will pick up the next day and that never happens. It may get pick up the next week. You can call every day and they only show up on your pick up day. The most unreliable service we have to deal with.

I signed up for Republic Services because several of my neighbors utilize the company. They pay an affordable price of about $90 a month. When I signed up online, it did not have clear pricing (which was my mistake for not calling to clarify) but assumed it would be comparable to my next door neighbor for the same exact service. I received my bill for $180 reflecting quarterly service PLUS $94 and $6 in fees. When I called, they said the $100 in fees is quarterly and the $180 is accurate for the service. So they are charging me $280 a quarter for the same exact service my next door neighbor pays $90.
I said I am cancelling my service and I cannot afford to pay almost $300 for trash pickup that I only used for a month. They were scheduled to get my can on 11/4 and never picked it up. A week later, I messaged them and asked when it would be picked up and they said it should be picked up on 11/12. Their customer service is so poor and they are trying to rob new customers. I am furious I ever signed up.

I had a terrible experience with Republic Services. They missed picking up twice in one month. Both times they promised they will come, they didn't. The customer service is terrible. Looks like they absolutely do not care about their customers. I am not staying with them.

Worst company ever. No accountability for their actions. Large cardboard box flew out of their uncovered load and hit my windshield. I'm sure the driver saw it. They would not take my word or photos or my passenger's story but wanted me to have a dash cam. Careless, irresponsible. I would never use this company for anything.

Where is lived they are supposed to empty two dumpsters twice a week. Trash here has not been done for a week in a half until today and then the driver flew thru here and only emptied the one by the office and not the other one which is packed full too and there are a lot of seniors that can't walk very far or don't have vehicles to take up to the other one. The previous week they only came one time in over a week, this service is horrible and we have all been watching your service and reporting to corporate here.

Worst company on the face of this earth. And due to our horrible city government and its monopoly rules, we have this terrible company as the ONLY option for trash pickup. It gets even worse. Wanted to cancel service w Republic Services today. Called the LA Sanitation line and was advised that our failing city is “has not been accepting new customers for the past two years.” Moral of this sad story - we are stuck with a company that charges an arm and a leg, performs so poorly, but knows we are stuck with it. And our city still continues to collect our taxes. Thank you so much, Mayor Bass. What’s become of once our wonderful city????

I had been trying for a month or more for service on a roll off dumpster. I requested a 30 yard online and made a $634 payment. The delivery was confirmed for the following Friday. On Thursday, one of their site managers told me they couldn't deliver to this site and suggested a 14 yard dumpster that would fit. I didn't really want one that small, and would have preferred someone else, but the money was never refunded to my account. I did make arrangements for the dumpster, the previous payment was confirmed and the dumpster was delivered the following Wednesday. There was existing garbage left in the dumpster, which we had to navigate in order to use the dumpster. When I requested pick up, they told me I had to pay. I informed them that I had already overpaid for a 14 yard dumpster, and the payment was eventually located for a 2nd time. They wouldn't pick it up until they confirmed the payment.
I then receive a bill for $195.29 for the 14 yard dumpster. I write on the bill that we need a $438.71 refund. A couple of weeks go by and I receive a bill for $435 for the 14 yard dumpster and that it is overdue. They promised a small refund. I will not be satisfied with anything but the $438.71 refund, I'm not even counting their doctored up bill. They are messing up my credit rating, I had to send them a copy of the credit card bill to prove I paid, and I sent a copy of their first bill. Will this work out before I involve the State AG, the BBB, Capital One and a Lawyer. I do not know.

Customers asked to pay in advance when it seems you should not due to seasonal hold. And indeed, you should not be. They never tell you they don't prorate a large administrative charge which divided out really drives up your weekly rate to a crazy amount. And this "crediting that will be done later" never happens because the fees on top of the weekly charge is not prorated.

Good service... Until they miss your pickup (once was three weeks in a row). They then tell you to leave any extra bags by the trash can and they will pick it up at no extra charge... However that's totally not true. They do not pick them up... So If you live in the country I bet you can guess what happens after that... Oh and they still charge you for these "unforeseen circumstances"... So yeah go ahead and try them out!

Please do not get tricked into a contract with this company! Terrible customer service, lots of hidden fees, lack of transparency on rates and consistent truck breakdowns/missed pick-ups. By the time you're at your wits' end and ready to cancel, you find out that you're locked into a 3 year contract! To officially cancel, you have to send a certified letter in the mail no more than 180 days and no less than 60 days of your 3 year mark. I honestly don't know how these employees sleep at night knowing they are working for the trash mafia!

This company should be shut down. Rented a dumpster from them for 4 day duration starting on Sept 12th…They brought the dumpster late (supposed to be here at 8:00 am, but arrived after noon)…and picked it up around 7:30 a.m. on the 4th day (which effectively gave us about 3 days of use)…We had paid in advance (were required to), so no refund for the “missed time”, even though we called and complained). Then we received a bill in the mail about a week later from them for $16…No explanation. We called and were never given a valid reason for the charge (“might have been too full, might have weighed too much”, etc.)…None of this was even close to being true. So we just paid the bill to avoid the hassle.
Today (Oct.22) received another bill in the mail from Republic…This one for $30! Bill said “for services 10/01-10/31. Whaaaat? The dumpster was rented for 4 days, was hauled off on Sept. 15, and now I have another invoice for the month of October? Called again to get this cleared up…Was on the phone (mostly on hold for over 53 minutes) while the person who answered “went to check in it”…obviously hoping we would give up and hang up. But we didn’t…Periodically she would come back on and say “I’m still checking”, then more elevator music while we continued to wait. Finally, after almost an hour, she said it was “all fixed”, and the contract was discontinued….Contract? We never had a contract, only a 4-day rental for me to clean out my attic and garage.
She said I would get an email with a “credit” for the charge. I did get the email, but it said nothing about discontinuing the “contract”. I have a feeling that I will get another invoice for $30 next month, and will go through this entire frustrating waste of time again. I thought they must have accidentally placed me on an ongoing billing cycle, but in reading the reviews on this company, this seems like standard procedure for them. Shady as hell, and dodgy. Totally recommend that you never do business with this company…Just read all of their reviews for October 2025 alone…then decide if you want to do business with a company like this.

Very bad service. Absolutely no support. Almost impossible to reach their call center. Website is slow and full of bugs. Extremely expensive, I paid almost three times more comparing to other services. I believe they don't deserve to be in a business.

I am writing this review about my recent experience with this company. Last week was a holiday, normally a holiday results in the trash pick up coming the day after, which for us, our normal day is Thursday, so they will come on Friday. Well, I did not set out my trash on Wednesday for Thursday pick up, so I called Thursday and the company told me that they will come Friday to pick up my trash. Well, I waited till 10 o’clock Friday night and no one ever came so I called again on Monday, yesterday. They said that "We’re sorry we didn’t come pick it up" and they will come pick it up today. Still the same thing, no one never came pick up my trash. If I can give them a zero-star rating, I would, but you want your customers to have trust in your company, but when you lie to them not once but twice, you lose that crush.

I started Republic Services in Georgetown IL in April. Per the information on the city website the cost was 60.00 for 3 months. Not bad. What they don't tell you is that they charge you an environmental recovery fee of 26.00 every month upping the monthly charge. They also charge you $53.00 to deliver a dumpster and then when you cancel they try to charge you 50.00 to pick up the rolling cart. They had told me they would pick up the cart the next day and did not show. They then had to be called two more times before they finally picked it up. I then got a bill telling me I was past due paying my charges from Oct. to Dec.. I called. Was told that it was fixed. Then got another bill a week later saying I was past due. I am now on phone waiting after being transferred again to get this cleared up. Customer service is terrible and charges are outrageous,

47 minute wait time to cancel plus they charged a $120 for removal of the garbage cans. Cancelled because they raised my rates and didn’t tell me. Don’t use them! I’m sure there are other garbage removal providers that provide better service and are less expensive.

We have been with Republic Services for approx 8 years. The quality of service has plummeted over the past few months so we have switched services. Even though I canceled my service a week before a new cycle was due to begin, they took another $109 payment. I have made multiple calls to get that payment reimbursed, and each call they have either given me an excuse of why they couldn't reimburse yet or told me it had already been reimbursed and would be in our acct by a certain date. Of course it was jot in the acct by that date so I call them yet again, requesting to speak with a supervisor.
The latest info I have received is that we will have to wait another 8 weeks just for the reimbursement to process and then they will send a paper check. I have never been more disappointed in a company. This money was taken out of a 71 y/o woman's acct that is living on a fixed income and they are making her wait at least 3 months to get the money back that should never have been taken in the first place.

I selected Republic because our previous collector said we were no longer in the service area. Yesterday (10/17) my trash pickup was missed even though the truck picked up my next-door neighbor's trash. I called customer service, and they were friendly and courteous, promising that my trash would be collected on Friday (10/17). There was no pickup. I called again and told them that it was never picked up, and now I have to wait until Monday. I don't know if I will keep this service or move on.

I would give Republic Services 0 stars if I could. We found out in our neighborhood that Republic was giving newer residents lower rates, as much at 50% less. We called to renegotiate our contract and they gave my husband lip service and said he could give us a lower rate but they kept our billing rate the same. I paid the negotiated rate but they continued to charge us with late fees. I called and had to wait 40 minutes to speak to a customer service representative. Then I was told I had to speak to a sales representative which was another 30 minute wait.
I was then told that they could not speak to me because I was not primary on the account. I asked them to call us back because of the excesses long wait times and they stated they would, but never did. We are planning to cancel our service and go with another company. Republic has missed picking up our trash numerous times that usually accompanies a holiday. We are still charged for their services even though they do not do their job. I do not recommend this company and tell you to not begin the nightmare for yourself!

This company is a total scam. It was the only option in our area but in hindsight we should have just taken waste ourselves to the city dump. $150 to deliver trash can and recycle can then $150 to pick up. Trash pickup was not consistent.

They think it’s appropriate to charge a $46 removal fee when I cancelled my service. They were constantly adding fees to my bill. My next door neighbor was paying half the amount I was being charged. Also, they think it’s okay to leave their container on my property for over a week after my new service has started. I should charge them a storage fee.

I cancelled my services in June 2025 with a credit on my account. It is now October 2025, I still have not received my refund. They say will take 6-8 weeks from today. Why? I cancelled services in June. If I had a choice I would not choose Republic. There are many negative reviews.

We have had Republic Services at our residence for nearly 25 years; service was acceptable up until the past couple of years. In the last 3 months, it had reached the point where we were only getting picked up 3 times a month. When we called their customer service number, we were met with a total lack of concern and attitudes that bordered on obnoxious. When we finally gave up and found a new trash collector, we called them to come pick up their empty container; they demanded then that we pay a $36 fee for them to come get it. I have no intention of paying the fee, I have given them the last cent that they will get from me.

Updated on 10/03/2025: Well it has been 1 week since Republic trash company has picked up from our apartment complex. We have asked the apartment management team on any idea of a pick up and they said no response from Republic Trash Company. We live at Park Residences Plano in Plano Texas at **. I guess we need to contact the city of Plano for advice. I think our management team should look into canceling the contract with Republic and get another company.

I have been a faithful customer to Republic Services for years, paid faithfully every invoice. However, they don’t extend the same respect by multiple missed pickups with both recycle and trash. I’m done with Republic this time, my trash hasn’t been picked up in 2 weeks and I put in multiple missed pickups with still no pickup. I have spent over an hour over multiple calls to get useless voices over the phone. Evidently, there’s no manager or higher up that I can reach out to, but they did escalate it and still nothing. Do not go with this company, run as far away as you can, go with the more expensive trash service, because at least you will be making use of that money and getting a service that you paid for. Oh and the picture, as you can see, is filled with flies and we have more trash in our shed. You can’t make this up. Also, here’s proof of the supposed days they were supposed to pick up my trash but yet today is the 1st of October.

My trash has not been collected for 3 weeks. I have called at least 4 times and always receive promises of a pickup, yet nothing. In addition to calling repeatedly, I’ve submitted online missed pickup reports and still nothing. Trash is overflowing and I am beyond frustrated.

Missed pick ups are frequent, sometimes leaving us with full cans and no idea of when the next pickup will occur. Try to call them and you get put on immediate hold due to extremely high call volume (probably many many callers trying to find out when their missed pick up will be rectified). We should get a week's credit on our bill when a missed pick up does not get picked up until the next scheduled pick up time, but we don't.

Stay away from this company, if you got a miss pick up and call to report it, they never come at the time provided. Way expensive for the unreliable service. I cancel my service due to unreasonable prices and ridiculous fuel charges. Just for pick up there container, charge me $ 111.00. Crooks! If you can leave in KY Louisville, go with other companies.

Absolutely ridiculous company, do not do business with them. They make it almost impossible to cancel services and when you do they still send you bills saying you owe them money. They are over-priced compared to other companies. Do yourself a favor and stay away from them.

My dad's bank sent two checks to Republic which went unacknowledged. The bank confirmed that the money had been withdrawn from his account and sent to Republic by check which had cleared. Now they want photos of the cancelled checks...but the bank can't send them because, astoundingly, they only provide an insecure mail address to send documents. Bank spent an hour with these unhelpful people and were amazed at their unhelpfulness themselves. Now threatening service interrupt despite being payed over 6 months in advance. Get this...they can't track a check and funds except by account number. If you have an option, avoid this company and find a responsibly run competitor. We are forced by our neighborhood to be tortured by these people.

Horrible company!! I had them in my previous home. On trash day the trucks would fling trash all over the streets. I also had to move and they charged me to get new trash cans at the new home delivery fees when I could have easily just moved my original cans to new home. I had to pay 100$ to have new ones sent. Then at my new place the rate shot up and they added tons more fees. Finally fed up I decided to change companies. Just cancelling my service is costing a ton of money because they force me to pay pick up fees just to have my trash cans removed giving no options for me to personally take the trash cans to them myself to avoid these ridiculously high fees. What a horrible company. I would not recommend them to anyone!

Once their service is cancelled, they won't pick up their ugly, unsightly trash can. I've called 4 times and 2 months later, the answer is always the same - they don't know when they can pick it up. I suppose eventually it will decompose on its own in a few hundred years...

My charges have doubled in 3 years, never a warning. Canceled services and they charged me $44 to collect our cans, no we are sorry that will be $44 per can. $132 dollars, shame on you, this is why others in our block have left you.

Been a loyal customer but that doesn't seem to matter to you. I just spent over an hour with your support techs, for the THIRD time over a problem related to your significant price increases. The last TWO times I called, was told everything has been modified to reflect an acceptable price only to continue to receive statements of "past due" when I was specifically told what I owed when I wrote the checks. Now, when I call for the THIRD TIME, an hour later I'm told nothing will be done and the increase is there to stay or to discontinue service. We are discontinuing immediately and when I get back into the office on Monday, my business will be doing the same when we call then. I have all the notes from previous discussions but that didn't matter. Very unfortunate. Will be telling others of better options.

I rarely leave reviews, but Republic Services deserves this one. Their customer service is abysmal — slow responses, unhelpful agents, and a complete lack of accountability. The costs are astronomical for what should be a basic utility. I was shocked by how much I was paying month after month for inconsistent service and missed pickups. But the final straw? When I closed my account, they charged me $70 just to pick up the old trash can. Yes, you read that right — seventy dollars to retrieve their own equipment. It’s a blatant money grab and a slap in the face to loyal customers. Avoid Republic Services if you value transparency, fair pricing, and decent service. There are better waste management companies out there that won’t nickel-and-dime you at every turn.

A nightmare. I have two people who are disabled and require a lot of supplies that come in recyclable packaging. We have a trash man with crazy demands so he doesn’t have to exist the truck (lazy) and we put everything neatly and still get missed. Our trash hasn’t been picked up since Monday. I’ve been calling since, almost a week now and still no show. I’m calling today when they open and if they don’t pick up today, I’m switching to Waste Management.

Very unreliable. Only pick up every other week even though it's supposed to be every week. They NEVER answer their phones. So you are paying for weekly pick up but getting only half of the services you're paying for and they make extra profit by saving on fuel and paying someone to operate the truck! They are also overpriced compared to other companies.

Save yourself the unnecessary stress and AVOID THIS COMPANY. 1. Service is NOT reliable. 2. The cost keeps getting higher and higher. 3. THEY DON'T REFUND ANY MONEY WHEN YOU CANCEL THEM. We have had Republic trash service for three years with two rate increases. We found local company who is much cheaper. A neighbor asked me about changing. During the conversation I found out he was paying Republic over $80 more a month than we were. Stay as far away from these crooks as you can.

We used Republic Services (Calumet City) for a dumpster rental. After receiving a quote, we were contacted by a rep who lowered the price and promised a Monday delivery. We explicitly said we didn’t want the unit over the weekend. That was our only ask. After paying, the problems started: missed delivery, duplicate contracts, lack of communication, and ultimately a late drop-off with a too-small dumpster. When we asked for expedited pickup (which we were promised), we were passed around from rep to rep until someone finally admitted they wouldn’t pick it up until Monday. This company does not honor its word, and its customer service is a disorganized mess. We lost time, peace of mind, and now have to monitor the dumpster all weekend — something we were told wouldn’t happen. Avoid at all costs.

I spent over an hour and a half on the phone trying to get a large trash container picked up early only to be told I could not have it picked up early. Horrible customer service. Even the supervisor was rude. I will never use this company again and I will tell others.

I had to sign 3 contracts to get a dumpster 1 week after I signed the contract. I lost money on the contractors coordinated to do the renovation because of the dumpster showing up a week late. Then to top it all off the dumpster that was delivered had trash in it! See the pics. Yeah, that's right, they brought a dumpster way late and the front half of it had trash in it. They won't compensate me for the loss I have taken, not even the 168.00 they say I owe. Never use this company!! Stay away!! Horrible service. Customer service can't do anything right the first time or second time apparently!! Check the pics. This is when i received the dumpster and the goodies (trash) they brought with it. Stay away!!!!

Very friendly customer service staff that unfortunately cannot resolve problems. The website is horrendously poor. I accurate information; missing operations i.e. track your truck function etc, etc; and auto-pay set up is difficult, confusing, and inexcusable 2025. I experience ROUTINE missed pick- ups. It so frequent it's laughable, but it is definitely not funny. The only reason this service still exists is limited other options and their slightly lower prices which entice customers. This is absolutely one of those time you get what you pay for, low price and exceptionally low quality. I only wish I had minded the other poor reviews rather than "hoping for the best". Please learn from my experience, I have had to learn the very hard way

I have been a customer for years. Every three months I pay my bill and pay the increases without complaint because I was factoring in the price raise for gas and oil etc. My most recent bill was 115.00 for three months, I decided to call around and find a better deal. When I called to cancel my service I talked to a really nice representative. He "negotiated" trying to get me to stay by lowering my bill by 40.00. At first I was going to do it but then thought, as a respectable company why would you increase prices to your customers with no advanced warning UNTIL they want to go somewhere else then all of a sudden offer a reduce price? To me this is a very shady business practice.

Have been a long time customer. This year they have skipped pickup several times. Last week they did not not show up. Keep telling my 79 year old mother they will be out the next day. Have not came yet. Called again yesterday. Got told they was in area. They will be there. Never came. I called back today. The gentlemen said, "You should have called. We would’ve came out." I said, "Yes that’s what they told me mother several times." I’m so upset. Not a reliable company. Beware. Go somewhere else.

Republic Services has been nothing but a nightmare. Without proper communication, they’ve jacked up my rates by 300% year-over-year while quietly pulling money through automatic direct debit. That’s outrageous. On top of that, they lock you into a shady 3-year contract that automatically renews for another 3 years unless you somehow catch it at exactly the right time. It’s designed to trap you. The lack of transparency, the price gouging, and the awful contract terms make this company feel like a scam. Avoid at all costs — there are better, more honest waste services out there. Try Waste Management instead.

Republic Services customer service department is the worst. Not only do they talk down to you and act like you don't have a brain in your head. They're also condescending and rude. If I had any other choice for trash pickup it would be whoever other than Republic Services. Maybe transfer your customer service department to Taiwan. Because the American call center is worthless.

Unreliable pick ups and last minute announcement of delays. Cost rises unexpectedly and often. Charge the same as a 3 month service fee to pick up their trash cans when cancelled. They are a joke. I would not recommend this company.

Worst customer service and worst company ever from city of Renton. Repeated Missed Pickups - Poor Customer Service have had an ongoing issue with Republic Services at city of Renton WA, Despite paying for reliable weekly pickup, our trash and recycling have been missed on multiple occasions. Because They're on strike and I didn't receive any bills last month and they charged me late fee called with no help.

I called about a confusion I had with my end of service. The customer service lady was extremely polite and “helpful”. I then got a call from I believe the local branch manager or something with the complete opposite tone. I know people taking customer service calls get penalized if their survey satisfaction marks aren’t high. This leaves the local workers having to pick up slack. I would’ve paid for an extra pick up as I said in the phone call. I was told “I’ll listen to the call log.” Ok you do that as I never said I was told wrong information. This company needs to just pay people correctly instead of this survey bs.

Updated on 10/21/2025: I reached out as requested by Republic Services and they responded with a generic response and complete ignore the new billing issue I address. My rating will remain at 1 star as before.
Original Review: Republic Trash Service has been incredibly frustrating to deal with. I’ve spent nearly an hour on hold just trying to reach someone in customer service, multiple times. I am being charged almost $80 just for them to pick up their own trash cans after canceling service, which is absurd. Over the course of a couple years, my bill has gone from $80 to $140. Of that $60 increase, only about $15–$20 is tied to actual service rate adjustments. The rest is buried in administrative and fuel fees, which have ballooned without any noticeable improvement in service.
Service interruptions are rarely communicated in advance. I usually get notified the same day if my pickup is being skipped or delayed. Bits and pieces of trash often fall out of the garbage cans during pickup and are left behind in the yard. One particularly memorable moment was when my children were still in diapers—we had to go outside and pick up used diapers that had been scattered across the lawn. I have since transitioned to a different provider that delivers the same level of service, without the hassles, delays, or excessive fees, for nearly 50% less than what Republic Services was charging. I would expect more from a company of this scale and reach.

I found out I was paying $275 a quarter. My neighbor with Kimble is paying $71 a quarter. I called customer service and they said they can lower my rate to $133 a quarter but could not match Kimble. I was mad because if I could have been paying 133 a quarter for the last 15 years instead of the $275, why didn't they notify me? I have been a customer since 2010. So when I said I wanted to cx, they charged me a $40 fee (which they would not waive) and I have to pay to the end of the month. I'm going to walk my allotment, and anyone with a Republic trash can, I'm knocking on the door and telling them to switch.

Republic has zero business servicing customers that are not businesses. Maybe stick to just dumpsters. When I called customer services to figure out why suddenly they haven’t been picking up all trash cans at my dwelling, I was met with several different reasons. Reason number one was: “it’s because it shows in your billing that you are only renting one can from us.” Which is bullshit because I had been grandfathered in from the company they bought out. They had been picking up all cans for the last 5 years. What’s amusing is they never came out to replace the old can with the old company’s name.
The second reason I was given “I think it’s because they got audited”. Again, that’s a bullshit excuse. So then I asked for a terms of service contract. This was suppose to give me information stating what they agreed to pick up. I was told they couldn’t do that. WEIRD RIGHT? When I tried canceling my service, they told me I couldn’t cancel my service because it had to be my husband. I WAS ON the bill with my husband and all of my information was on the bill including MY card with MY name. So I’m going to copy this and further spread the word on how much this company sucks. Ooooh! I was also told I had to rent more cans if I wanted more trash picked up. I’m wondering, what was I paying $175 every three months for?

This is the 3rd week in a row that my yard waste has not been picked up despite multiple calls and promises of pick up. No one cares, no manager will ever call you back. In the past year and a half, my records show 20 missed pick ups. If we could use someone else we would. Would not recommend if you are considering using this company.

Week 5 of trying to get my broken trash can replaced. Multiple online submissions, multiple phone calls. Multiple promised dates to be picked up ..only to be broken. Customer service repeats the same promise and we're not given any options. Meanwhile our garbage piles up.

As residential customer I have ordered large (40 cubic yards) temporary service dumpsters from Republic Services in the past and been very satisfied with their services, but no longer. In this instance, my order went in more than a month ago for a 40 cubic yard dumpster delivered to my home address. Republic accepted and processed CC payment online more than a month ago. On the delivery date last week a local representative of Republic hemmed and hawed all day before telling me they couldn't negotiate our driveway. A human being in Republic's customer service was impossible to reach by telephone at any point. And any phone number for contacting a local office representative is carefully hidden from the customer. After the delivery team declined delivery, I immediately asked for a full refund.
After a lot of time spent with a robot helping me access a "sales team" phone number at the national level, I am told that the refund by check must be handled through a local office that I cannot talk to, and that the refund may take as much as another four to six weeks. This behavior enables Republic Services to draw interest on my payment of over $500 for two and a half months before I can receive a refund! Conclusion: The initial service performance of the Republic Services team was disastrous and the complex hassles associated with the refund process are outrageous--and all at the expense of the customer. Shame on you, Republic Services!

Very unreliable and unprofessional. 2 months straight of missed pickups. Still get charged for overages. 2 months of leaving voicemails for reps and supervisors, their phones go right to voicemail. No return calls. Holiday weekend, missed pickup on a Friday, no pickup on Saturday. They're closed on Monday, so we have to wait until Tuesday. With no communication.

This company has to be the worst in the area. They are only consistent with not picking up your trash. Republic Services consumers in our development are the only residents who have to wait weeks at a time for our trash and recycle to be collected. This is the norm. They always have a multitude of excuses when you call and basically gaslight their consumers. They have the most fees for things that the customer should not be paying for. This week was the last straw for my household. We have given them chance after chance to do better. We are moving. If you want your trash and recycle picked up weekly like you pay for, then stay far away from this company.

Republic Services is one of the most disrespectful companies I’ve experienced first hand. Eight years in of service & the only reason we stay is for the price. Aside from that, they are unreliable. Numerous missed pick ups, with ‘no-shows’ on the return pick ups promised by customer service. Constantly receiving messages at the end of the day informing they’re short on drivers, so “we’ll pick up any extra next week”. My biggest complaint however is the fact that for some reason, my neighborhood somehow got scheduled for “the middle of the night route” and they come clanking, banging, screeching, squealing, flashing and beeping anywhere between 3-4:30 AM.
So what’s most upsetting is, even if I were to terminate service, I’m still located in the same neighborhood that 90% of residents use Republic Services, so regardless if I’m the customer or not, I’m being woken up in the middle of the night every Friday. Which leads me to the next point, out of any day of the week for a trash pick up, Friday is the worst day we could have been scheduled for.
As common sense tells you, if a family happens to spend the weekend cleaning out something in the house, or getting yard work done, your trash has to sit there full, the entire week before pick up. (I know everyone can’t be a Monday pick up) but we’re at the opposite extreme of that! I’ve also had a driver urinate in my driveway before which I can only assume was a retaliation of some sort due to me calling to report the umpteenth missed pick up. But to not care if the resident or their security camera can see you do that, wild. I also can’t tell you how many times my trash ends up all over the street due to them missing the dump. Accidents happen, but everything mentioned is ‘consistent’ behavior. For a customer to pay money for trash pick up & the company constantly skips you or litters your trash on the ground, so in the morning you can go down & “re-trash” your garbage into the same cans you’ve already put it in. Not cool. Do better!
