I ordered some window parts directly on the Pella website. Before I ordered I made sure the arrival date was going to work for me. It's been 15 days since I ordered today so I contacted customer service to get an update. Customer service told me that the parts won't ship for another 15 days and will take 7-10 days to arrive. I told them that it wouldn't work for me, the parts are taking over a month more than what was scheduled at the beginning. I asked them to cancel order and refund but they are refusing.

The Sales manager sold us our doors over the phone in January 2023. He told us we should receive them in 2 months. That's reasonable. We finally had them installed the end of April only because I harassed the project manager team. I had to leave numerous phone calls and emails. No one returns calls. Finally the day comes for installation to find out one door is damaged. However the installers were great. It's now July 31st and again it's us actively calling Pella in Jacksonville to find out about our replacement door and when to expect it to be delivered. No return calls. We finally get an email for October for installation. Not happy!

I am reviewing Pella Windows & Doors of CT and NY. My order took over 1 year and 5 months to complete, with a comedy of errors along the way. Mistake on window counts on the original order, resulting in an approximate $10,000 increase to the order cost. There were extensive delays for the windows to be shipped (not the Pella installer's fault). Installer did not call before arrival for the delivery of the windows (as promised). Installer ignored my instructions for the window staging location in my garage (could have been avoided, had I known they were at my house, delivering windows).
At the first installation appointment, the installer was unaware that window shipment was short several windows, so another installation date had to be scheduled. The window grilles could not be completed at that install visit, so another date was scheduled. On the next install date, they realized some of the grilles were broker and had to be reordered. On the next install date, they missed installing one of the grilles. On the next install date, a small part for the final grill was missing. On the next install date, they didn't show-up. The credits applied along the way for this unbelievable series of errors was inadequate, especially considering the inordinate amount of my wasted time (six separate install dates). The windows are nice, but the installation experience was appallingly poor.

I purchased five Pella Architectural Sliding doors for my lake house. One of the screens stopped retracting so I called Pella service. The guy came out and said I needed new springs and Jennifer would send me a quote. I received the quote to a tune of 1800.00 dollars to replace the entire roll screen. I wished I had never purchased Pella.

I have come to know that my 2011 contractors (cheaper) door offered more quality than this door I purchased 8 months ago. If you are searching for a door make certain that if anything happens to the glass that it can be repaired. My nearly $400 door, not including handle (separate purchase) met with someone’s pellet that was shot into the lower glass pane. Shattered.
I will have to purchase an entire new door and perhaps even system as it is not repairable according to the Pella personnel I have spoken with over the phone. Plus there is no warranty for this problem. My older door allowed for upper panel and lower panel to be extracted and replaced if needed. It is an important feature for me. Make certain that the glass panel in the doors that you are purchasing can be repaired.

We purchased a door from Pella, the Orlando branch, over 2 years ago. Last year we finally got the door installed, the door was not inspected prior to delivery and installation. When the door was being installed, and our previous door was already removed, we noticed our new door was damaged. Pella order a new panel and a year later we are still waiting for the them to fix the door and complete the installation job that was not finished.
We are sitting almost 3 years later with a damaged unfinished door. We have been tirelessly calling to get updates and there has been zero response. We have been told by the horrible customer service team that they are waiting for the panel and that the project manager will call back with updates, and there has been no calls back at all. We love our home and this has been a huge disappointment and challenge to deal such an irresponsible company. We paid a lot of money for the door, and its poor workmanship, customer service is absent, quality is poor, and management is unresponsive. It's unfortunate to find companies that want to take advantage of their customers and sell you dreams. I will never recommend Pella products to anyone.

Called Pella about a shade not working properly in one of our sliding glass doors. Rep said it would be 90.00 to get shade sent and watch video as to replace. Or it would be 195.00 to have a tech come out. I said send tech out. Marked calendar for 2 months later appointment. Didn’t hear a word until 15 minutes before tech showed up.
He arrived and operated shade and said, "I can give you an estimate, but you're not going to like it." I said, "What are you talking about. I thought you were bringing shade out to fix." Tech informed me he didn’t even bring a new shade out. "It is 195.00 to walk through door." I replied, "Are you kidding with me?" He said no. Proceeded to tell me the string or rollers have been compromised and it would cost over 700.00 to fix string and rollers and another 195.00 for a new shade. Whoever is training phone reps should have more training. I was given impression that it would cost 195.00 come out and replace shade, never was informed it could cost additional funds to repair. Remaining doors and windows will be Andersen in the future.

I had Pella window installed (around 50) when I remodeled my house about 9 years ago. I opened one window that I had never opened before and discover that it would not close completely or lock. On closer inspection, it was evident that the window locking mechanism was either misaligned or the window installed incorrectly because the locking mechanism did not reach the lock in the frame. I called Pella customer service who referred me to an out of town service provider. After about a month of back and forth delays, the service provide said I would have to pay $175 for them to inspect the window and then I would have to pay for the repair of the defect. What a joke, not only is the quality of the window poor but Pella disclaims any responsibility for its products.

Had all the windows in my house replaced. Originally was planning to go with Lowe's as it was a lot cheaper, but figured I would go with Pella given I saw their commercial and long history, so figured it would be better quality. Boy was I wrong. Cliff K came to my house. Did the whole show of why Pella is better/ it was the same stuff that Lowe's showed for a lot less by the way. Cliff K said, "They are less, but our services is better and we will always do top notch work as our installers are certified unlike at Lowe's." So I said, "Fine let's do it."
The installers were from Monroe, CT and were angry that they had to do an install in Brooklyn NY so they had to finish 10 windows in 7 hours as they wanted to be back on the road before traffic. The work they did clearly showed it, as not too long after I started to getting leaking through the windows and damage on the ceilings and window sill. I contacted Cliff K about this issue and he basically told me that, hey he is the sales dept and I need to contact service dept and talk to the installers.
Only after I brought up our conversation about Pella having better service than Lowe's and after the issue dragged into a year and he was getting ready to leave Pella he connected me to Richard ** who is the Installation Manager at Monroe CT. The back and forth with him took another year and I was passed around from one Project Manager to another, as they continued to come and document the damage, which was finally fixes in 2022 that is 4 years after the initial install and hours on the phone with them.
The initial installed windows were scratched, incomplete flashing causing water damage, locks that don't close because they are shifted to one side and the sash is shifted to another side and windows where the safety locks are just missing. Again I paid over $1,000USD per window. This was an $11,000+ project, and this has been a never ending nightmare. I called today, to get two screens replaced and was told that it is not covered under warranty and I need to pay for it. If you hear PELLA run as fast as you can in another direction. I wish I went with Lowe's or HomeDepot windows at this point.

We purchased Pella wood framed windows with interior shades, for our whole house ($$$). The exterior frames are metal with vinyl coating in the taupe color they offer. The installation went well, but whenever we had a glitch they would offer to come out to correct but would want to charge an EXCESSIVE service fee. We spent thousands of dollars for these windows and they keep wanting us to pay more.
We have had the windows for about 10 years. We are now noticing that the exterior vinyl frames are starting to peel and are exposing the white color under the taupe. We also had a window broken and they won't repair nor will any glass company. You need to order a brand new window so you incur another high cost. We also purchased a screen door that they could never adjust properly. It would slam on whoever walked out. My husband ended up fixing it with the guidance of another glass company rep. In the end the windows are good windows but they are not worth cost. The company is arrogant and does not compromise on anything. I would choose another company if I were to do it again.

He hired Pella to measure and replace two doors. The sales person came out to measure and measured everything completely wrong. He sent the sales sheet for me to approve the design (which I did - I approved the design as I am a designer) as he was hired to measure and deliver the door. My contractor had to remeasure the front door him and I should have thought to have him measure the simple deck door as well. Little did I know, I should have used my tape measure to measure the more simple back door possible. I'm not stuck paying for door out (over 2 grand) of pocket - he told me to "go sell it on Facebook marketplace". He then told my clients that they could not install a keyless entry. This was a complete lie. This company is a total joke and has zero respect for their customers or a potential business partner. As I am launching my own interior design business, I'm glad I learned early on not to work with this company.

Pella warranty is a joke. Locking mechanism on my door not working right. Pella provided incorrect replacement parts which took over a week to receive all whilst living in the city with a main door that doesn’t lock at all eventually forcing me to pay their technician $200 to fix. Should’ve just bought Schlage handle & lock. Would’ve saved a lot of time, money and headache.

We originally contracted with Pella in September of last year. The original install date was January 27, 2023 which was understandable due to material procurement/fabrication lead times. Though when the workers arrived, the screen doors were not included in the installation. Again, somewhat okay as it was the middle of winter. The next time someone came out with the screen doors was on March 2, 2023. However, he did not have the correct parts on hand (closers and handle). Then we had someone come out on April 21, 2023, supposedly with the correct parts. Again, he did not have the correct parts on hand (closers and handle).
Finally we had the installer out last week, May 19, 2023 and he installed the screen doors with the closers, but had two interior handles and no exterior handles. At this point, it's been 4 months since the initial installation date and we still don't have a complete set of doors that we've paid for. While we like the product, the customer service is atrocious. Do not use Pella if you can avoid it.

I purchased windows in the Morning Sky gray color and asked before paying whether the color will be available for years to come. Pella said it would. However, that year after I bought my windows they discontinued the color. There was no announcement on top of the fact that they lied to my direct question. They also could not deliver product in good condition. Pella cannot be trusted to fix a situation after the fact either. They simply apologize and say there is nothing they can do. Do not trust what Pella has to say. Make all decisions assuming Pella is being untruthful so that when they are you have not put yourself in a difficult situation.

Matt came out to provide honest guidance, quote, and next steps in our journey to replace a broken kitchen window and aged picture living room window that was causing internal water damage. He spent all the time we needed plus some to explain to each decision maker in the home and made sure we had a clear understanding of the quality (with demonstration), type of windows, how the windows worked, honest explanation of how the windows they provide compare in quality and cost to competitors. It was awesome and we were sold.
We had the measurements done a week later and it turned out less expensive than we were originally advised which was a plus. 2 weeks later the installers arrived on time and quickly and efficiently installed all windows and collected final payment. They took care and respect in our home. We are very pleased with service provided by Power | Pella. Oh I forgot to mention we get a tax write off next year for an energy efficient purchase. Highly recommended. 5 stars!

I stepped in to assist, and eventually, the installation date was set for March 2023. However, when the installers arrived, they discovered a missing part and promised to return. Here's my Pella Windows and Doors nightmare. Installed over 80 Hurricane impact windows in black our home in 2019. By the beginning of 2020 the black paint was starting to chip. Pella came out with a Sharpie to try color it... They then agreed to replace about 6 units after months of going back and forth. Showed up to install with bronze windows... They then expedited another order. Months later they show up with 6 more units, this time they were all black but had more paint chipping and overspray on the inside. I refused the shipment. They then tell me that they have discontinued the series that I have, even though I have 10+ years of warranty left and there is nothing that they can offer. Hired an attorney in 2021 and Here it is 2023 and still waiting to go to arbitration. Absolutely the worst company and service I have ever experienced.

Pella delivered a defective (severely bowed) French door (which the installer noted was defective) to our home outside of our contract time of 4-5 months. We cancelled the contract same day because we did not trust the quality control of this company any longer and they REFUSED to cancel our contract. We never received a non-defective product from Pella yet they are trying to take us to collections for around $8000 after already keeping our deposit of around $900. Their “Operation’s Manager” Adam ** and co-owner Bryan ** refused to talk with us and instead referred the matter to their attorneys even though we have pictures, emails AND the contract to back up our claim.
We will be hiring a consumer rights attorney. Pella Corporation has terrible reviews on both Better Business Bureau and Consumer Reports, and had we done our research we would not be in this situation. This company simply has no real CUSTOMER SERVICE. Also, if you do a simple Google search you will find multiple class action lawsuits against Pella Corporation. Please avoid at all costs!

PELLA WINDOWS – BUYER BEWARE! If you are considering purchasing windows from Pella, we strongly advise you to reconsider and call Andersen instead. Trust us, you do not want to go through all we have in the last 18 months. We ordered a whole house (nearly $150K) of replacement wood windows in a few phases starting in October of 2021. The sales process was fine, with the sales guy coming to our home and we visited 2 area showrooms to select product. We were initially quoted a 4 month delivery window and expected to receive phase 1 windows in March of 22. The windows were delayed and rescheduled several times and a few of the first batch (Phase 1) of windows did not arrive and get installed until August of 2022 – nearly 10 months after we placed the initial order and started making payments. With supply chain issues from the pandemic, we tried to be understanding – even if it seemed crazy that it took so long.
The problems really started with the installation process. If you are considering Pella, you should know that they do not employ their own installers – but use 3rd party contract installers who may or may not do quality work. This despite the fact that installation is EXPENSIVE. Since we bought a premium window product we felt it was worth the high price to (we thought) have Pella do the install to ensure quality work. We did not know until install time that they use 3rd parties. Neither of the first 2 companies that Pella sent to install did an acceptable job. We are talking gashes in the window frames (of windows that cost in some cases thousands of dollars), installing large, heavy windows on top of rotted wood, leaving trim unfinished, incorrect hardware, missing screens etc. We were shocked at the poor quality and complete lack of professionalism in workmanship.
We contacted Pella several times and sent several pictures to show the poor workmanship. Finally, they sent out a Manager level who agreed that the job was not acceptable and that he would ensure it was made right. Enter contract installer #3 who reinstalled some of the windows, fixed the rotted wood and other errors from the prior contract installers. This took a couple weeks to get right and tons of our time to deal with it.
In total we had 3 phases of Windows. Delivery on the other 2 phases was also delayed several months and we are still waiting on the final phase of windows. In the meantime, one window from Phase 1 was just installed last week (15 months later) because Pella “lost the order” and had to have it remade and a screen for our 9” slider was also just installed because it was “received but lost in the warehouse”. And of course, we have been paying on these windows since the orders were placed. Very frustrating.
The latest debacle is getting a call this week that despite having a Phase 1 contract from Pella showing a “Deposit Received” of several thousand dollars in Oct of 21 when we placed the order, they do not have record of the payment and they unilaterally decided to put an unauthorized charge for the phase 1 deposit (15 months after we received the “deposit paid” contract from Pella) on our CC which they had on file. Of course, we are disputing this and now have an attorney involved.
The amount of time and energy we have expended over the past year and a half is mind blowing. We deeply regret purchasing Pella windows and wish we had gone with Andersen or any other vendor. Though the windows are well made and beautiful, the mistakes and errors throughout the installation, service and financial processes have been horrendous. If we had to sum up our impression of Pella in one word, it is INCOMPETENT.

Have no complaint with Pella windows, but the blinds within my patio door's window panes stopped working for no identifiable reason except that the warranty was up. A Pella phone rep was very polite and offered option 1) an online consult with Pella for $95.00 to determine if it was fixable. Option 2) I could find my own blind repairman. I couldn't. Option 3) I could have Pella replace the blind for c. $1,250. However, since the blind color might no longer match the color of the blind in the partnering patio door, option 4) would be to replace the blinds in both doors. Maybe a discount for installation of two? I can buy new patio doors for less than it would cost to replace the blinds in these old doors, but I can't cope with the construction in winter and I need the blinds, so I chose option 5) I removed both blinds from inside the window panes and covered both windows with standard size blinds from a big box store for <$60.00. They work better too.

So finally had a heavy rain and the water started backing up into the house around the edges of the window onto the drywall and under the flooring on all 4 windows!!! Frantic my wife and I are mopping up water off the sills all night. Notice that water is building up in a trough below a plastic cover that should lead to the weep hole's, so stay with me, I take the small covers off the weep holes (in the rain) thinking they are not functioning properly, No help. So a night lost, and we make the call to Pella service and they send out a tech fairly quickly (hooray). In the meantime my wife is able to suck out of the trough approx 40oz of water!
The tech arrives and I explain the plight of these none functioning windows and he pops the cover off of the "troughs" and says the "weep holes are not drilled out" I'm floored as a mfg. eng. that is a product failure and should be recalled!!! Shouldn't one mold in the weep hole for proper functionality? or factory drill out the weep holes so not to penetrate below the trough and cause the water to accumulate below the widow on the sill? Why anyone in their right mind would buy Pella window products is beyond me? You might get good windows but at what price??? We lost our entire home in a house fire Labor Day of 2021 with 10 seconds to spare and our home exploded - we have spent 2 Thanksgivings and this was our 2nd Christmas in a hotel. When it was time for windows we decided on Andersen however, they were COMPLETELY HONEST (something that is foreign to anyone at Pella) and they told us it would be Jan 2023 for delivery.
Out of desperation we paid over $100,000 and even though Pella was $40,000 more (it’s an extortion fee clearly taking advantage of people during Covid) they promised us a Sept 2022 delivery date. So we ordered them March, surprise in July they had the nerve to file a lien on our home in case they didn’t get paid by our contractor. Out of everyone we had working on our home they are the only company to do so (which spells volumes about the company) then lo and behold the lies then started.
We were told our windows would not be here till Nov so I reached out in October and was told we would be put on an escalation list. We were assured they would be on the Dec 20th truck and delivered Dec 22nd, someone even called to confirm delivery last week for Wednesday the 28th (ok we could live with that). However, today we are now told more ** lies - they are not coming in till Jan 18th!! HOW DO THESE PEOPLE SLEEP AT NIGHT KNOWING WHAT THEY DO TO CUSTOMERS!!! Our home cannot go forward until the windows are in. Our drywall is as far as it can go, the siding and stone is at a standstill and yet NO ONE seems to care at all, just promises of lies.
Conveniently their corporate office numbers are locked down further than the White House, the cowards in corporate seem to only make sure that the garbage trickles down to the people who are dealing with customers and they don't want to be bothered. Thank you for standing out as the worst customer service in the window industry! We should have gone with Andersen windows and had the same delivery date and we would be $40,000 richer. So this be a lesson to anyone considering PELLA windows. RUN DON'T WALK BECAUSE YOU GET NOTHING BUT LIES!! We have been waiting for 18 months for the repair to be made and still have no idea when it will be done. Also purchased and paid for a screen which was made incorrectly and needs to be replaced. Have been waiting for over 6 months for the error to be corrected and it still is not done. I would not recommend Pella based on this experience.

I have three houses all of which are either entirely Pella or have a sizable Pella window and door investment including a custom three-sided sunroom made entirely of individual divided light Pella windows (no grill). My total Pella investment includes a total of 42 windows either insulated or hurricane proof and 4 sets of patio/sliding doors. I purchased Pella despite the additional cost and the odd sizing that makes them incompatible with other brands because of their reputed commitment to quality and customer support.
I have a large Pella insulated glass picture window, approximately 30 years old, that has lost its seal. I called Pella to arrange getting the panel replaced, only to be told that Pella no longer will support a window of that age. Once I recovered from my initial disbelief, I realized that my entire window investment is a risk and that Pella cannot be trusted to support my products, nor have they bothered to make arrangements for an after-market supplier.
It was never stated by Pella that they would not do this, but I think most of us purchased their product trusting that they would be there for us. This is clearly no longer the case. I would urge anyone considering Pella to think about their purchase in light of this information and what some are calling a breach of faith. I would also urge architects to consider if they want to rely on this product when providing service to their clients.

I caught the issue within a couple of hours of ordering, but when reaching out to customer service, they completely didn't respond to 2 emails, then when using their text feature to talk to a representative the rep literally sassed me and had the worst attitude as well as lied about cancelling the order (said they'd "look into" cancelling and never did anything). No discount offered on replacement; in fact, was told I’d need to pay an additional $4000 with no guarantee of when door would be ready. Pella Windows simply did not meet my standards. First of all I had to argue for weeks that a child lock was not required on the windows. My windows are over 4 feet above the floor. Dress regulations do not require a child lock. They finally took off the child lock, however the workmanship on the trim was poor. Holes in the wood and the edges of the wood trim were not sanded. Further the mechanism that opens the windows falls off the windows very easily and are very difficult to get back on. I paid top price for these windows and they were not worth it.

I tried to get my concerns resolved with Pella corporate, but they were no help. If I could have canceled the order, I would have. I had Pella windows installed in my home in 1993. We chose aluminum clad wood on inside. Should have been a good choice. Not have to paint exterior, won't rot, great choice. WRONG. My windows are rotting inside my house. YES inside. Regardless of the age of the windows no window should be rotting inside the house. The water is leaking in from outside in and the outside is Aluminum!!! Not even wood. How does that happen!!!
They clearly do not make a quality product and have no pride in their product, and evidently do not care about their customers and have no idea what customer service is. I have contacted them reported with the BBB so far they do not care. They cite the age of the window warranty already past. Under no circumstance should windows be rotting inside the home I get the outside as maybe the windows were never cared for painted etc... But this is the sash area not around the perimeter!!! The windows are a premium cost so you would expect premium customer service. But their customer service and concern about their product failure doesn't even reach to the customer service level of the Dollar General!!!
Windows lose energy efficiency but shouldn't rot inside the home. Oh they will gladly come out and give me an estimate for new windows. Do they think I'm an idiot. Why would I replace with more Pella Windows. I don't care if the windows don't match the others. Why would I put a product on my home that I know will fail and company will not stand behind their product. Now out of over 20 windows in my home 10 are rotting out and I will have to replace which will not be Pella. Window World, Southern Industries, Window Source Atlanta, or even cheap windows from Home Depot or Lowe's will outlast Pella. A company such as Pella that thinks a product such as windows should be disposable and not accept the fact they have a faulty product should be called out in their industry.

This is for sure the most horrible company I have ever dealt with. They lie about their shipment dates and the quality of their installation is awful. I ordered 2 doors for 10,000 dollars on May 24, 2022. After promising date after date they finally came September 27, 2022. The installation of the doors was a nightmare. We had 3 guys: one guy had no idea what he was doing, the second guy knew not much more, and the guy in charge did not know much more than the second guy. They put on a new front and back door. The handles on the door are crooked as a snake. Also after the salesman plainly told me they would put the storm doors back on, the contractor told me he would do neither. They said they didn't have time.
One more thing, none of the guys knew how to put the key locks in the doors. They tried telling me they were the wrong ones and would not fit. My brother in law came over later in the evening and figured the locks out in 5 minutes. These are 3 rookie contractors trying to put in 5,000 a piece doors. We paid half that amount upfront and was told the install date would be October 15th, 2021, due to supply chain issues, etc. So we patiently waited 4.5 months for the install. They never called before or on the morning of the 15th, so I called Pella and they said the doors are not ready and I ask them to call when they are. PELLA calls Dec. 20th with an install date of Dec. 22nd. I say we never scheduled it and happened to be working that day so the soonest they can get us in was Jan. 24, 2022. Installers show up Jan. 24th, (0° and snowing) to install doors only to find out front door was made too wide, which was blamed on the sales rep. who measured it initially, (so they couldn't install it) and back door gets installed but opens and closes hard because it wasn't made wrong.
Pella emailed to schedule fixing door, had a ThermaTru door rep. come to confirm that patio door with sidelines was built wrong on March 30, 2022. Waiting for new install date for both doors to be fixed and front door installed, I had to call periodically through the months since no one from PELLA bothered to keep us updated. I had one apology for the mistakes made through all this.
14 months from purchase, the final installation was on July 28th, 2022. The installation crew figured out how to fixed the patio door issue without tearing it out. In the end we asked for a discount for some of the already broken Pella promises they advertised and they would not budge more than $1833 off, despite charging professional prices for professional service. I was told by a representative by phone that the CEO of the local branch would call me to discuss final price and problems. Instead I got the sales rep that I had been working with throughout to tell me the CEO doesn't have time to call us to deal with this problem. In 2000 we bought a house with two decks. One off the kitchen and one off the master bedroom. The French doors were nothing but glass panel wood doors that had been modified to fit this opening and they showed signs of leaking. and severe weather fatigue. We priced Pella sliders and factored this cost into our purchase. Shortly after moving in we purchased 2 sliding Pella doors (SLC,UT) with the interior blinds. One was 60" and the other more like 84" wide. They were installed by a competent installer. We had a few service calls in the firsts years covered by warranty. But as soon as the warranty period is over expect to pay big bucks for each part and just the initial service call.
Our story is similar to the one from Lee of Kingwood, TX Verified Reviewer. Original review: Jan. 25, 2022, currently about the 5th one down on page 1. We had some interior painting to do so we didn't get around to wanting our raw wood inside painted for a few years.. In that time Pella said they had no one to recommend any longer. So I had to do the danish oil finish myself. I'm pretty good at handyman skills and painting but this is quite a big job. No telling how much a painter would have charged me. Why didn't pella have a list of painters willing to do this job with recommendations??? Red flag! Well this last year I decided the wind noise was too much so I looked into new weather stripping.
I ordered it and a couple months later received this rather expensive and custom door seal product along with the expensive screen door slider spring assembly that I needed because of a poorly designed plastic part that is not available separately. I could live with these high parts prices as it seems the new American quality standard and business model for parts sales and service to be a big part of profits. But when doing the seal job and also replacing the rollers on the door bottom I found that the wood interior under the cladding was really rotted. So far my inside wood has not caved in like Lee's.
I also notice that there are corrosion looking holes on the outside surface of the aluminum cladding on the bottom stile. 3-4 1/8" to 1/4" that let the rain in. Maybe there was dissimilar metal staples or something that corroded the thin aluminum cladding that was supposed to last a lifetime and a big pella selling point!! In contact. I have tried to put some caulking on these holes to keep the rotted wood at bay. This is the master bedroom deck door... If it was the main floor door it would look really bad and I would need to seek a better solution... This pair of doors cost 5000$ in 2000 and I think they are well over 5000 each now. I would never buy pella again and tell everyone to research other manufactures.

We went through the proper channels. Several Pella reps came out and said that they had never seen the Pella windows do this before.
We then received this notice from Pella: "Pella is not responsible for or makes not warranty as to: Product failure, loss or damage due to normal wear, fading or discoloration of finish from product usage, age or exposure to direct sunlight." Wow. We live in Phoenix Arizona. Someone should have mentioned the fact that they do not cover the windows yellowing in direct sunlight within 2 years of installation. This is not 10 or even 5 years down the road. 2 years later. This is obviously a manufacturer's defect. I built my (very large) home in 1999 and used Pella for every window and door (approx $100,000 worth). It is the 1 decision I have regretted every single day of living in this house, right up until today. The window frames starting rotting out 11 years in, so they're out of warranty. They blamed my builder for installing them wrong. A few years later there was a class action lawsuit against them for a defect in the frames causing them to rot. The $ wasn't worth all the work I had to do to receive it (4 kids keeps you too busy for monster problems like this one), so we passed on a separate lawsuit, & accepted whatever little $ they gave us. Each yr another few rot & we replace them, & this process has been going on for about 10 yrs (12,000sq ft house has a ton of windows).
This year we replaced 2 frames (since Jan) & my sliding doors aren't sliding anymore. Btw the frames don't come painted, they don't even offer that service. A technician came, made adjustments & said he'd have to come back & shave the door slightly on top to get it sliding again. They send me the contract ($800 1/2 due now) then call me to say they're actually not able to fix it, advising me to contact my builder & they'll give him the door info he needs to fix it. I can't use the tech that actually works on the door that recommended how he'd fix it! WHY NOT?! They "can't alter their product" even though it's 20+yrs old. RIDICULOUS but I expected nothing less. So if you're lucky enough to get through to make an appt, it comes in a month (minimum), & that's just the evaluation....another month after that to schedule the service.
No exaggeration, been doing this over a decade now. I advise you to GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, DO NOT USE PELLA! Their own contractors have told me to use Anderson, what does THAT say abt the company?! I'm too far in now but I beseech anyone looking for a window/door to use anyone BUT Pella. You will absolutely, without a doubt, regret your decision!

We purchased a 6 foot French door assembly to replace an aluminum sliding door to our patio. One of the selling points was its exterior cladding that would prevent rot. We've had the doors for about 12 years. Recently my wife was polishing the interior wood panel at the bottom of the door and it collapsed. Not in just one spot, but in multiple spots across the bottom panel. Turns out that the exterior cladding delaminated from the wood, allowing water to penetrate between the cladding and the door. In reading reviews on this site, it is quite obvious that the company has a long record of selling defective products, a good percentage of them with the same rotting problem we experienced.
Contacted them to come out and look at the door. Had to call them several times to send a representative out. When their representative arrived, it said I had to pay them $129 for the service call. He blew smoke most of the time, dancing around my questions about the warranty and attempted to blame the installer. Finally, he said he would have someone contact me. Weeks went by and there was no attempt to contact me.
I finally called and they said they would send someone out the next day. We went through the same song and dance and he finally said he would write up a proposal. After spending several minutes on the computer, he looked up and said: "It will be $8,000.00 dollars to replace the door." You might imagine my response. Bottom line, looks as if there will be no response from Pella. It appears that the Pella warranty is a scam. When my first order of windows were installed on August 9 they installed my living room window and family room door wall with the wrong color factory finish (Pella White not Bright White). It took until October 13 to get this acknowledged by Pella and reordered with the delivery in January. They also installed the wrong color trim in a bedroom and den, did not have the correct piece of 10" base trim for my living room window, and did not install the window latches correctly which caused the paint to be chipped. The nail holes were filled with the wrong color putty which, 3 months later still needs to be corrected. The only reason these are eventually being replaced and corrected is because of the efforts of Andrew **, he is incredible. As for the rest of the company... Unfortunately, it will take until January 5, 2022 for all corrections and replacements to be made, (7 months after the initial installation).
I contacted my sales rep (Patrick **) after the August 9 installation to give him a run-down of the delivery issues and his reply was "contact customer service". So much for your salesperson being an advocate for the customers to whom he he sold windows. Don't bother trying to reach upper management, they are nearly impossible to contact. I tried to send letters to Ken ** (General Manager) and Paul ** (Sales Manager) {as they do not have posted e-mail addresses} to the mailing address provided by the main office in Iowa, but they were returned to me with the message "No Mail Receptacle". Why are they hiding from their customers? Very shady.
I have a delivery of kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room windows coming in on November 15. Who knows what will happen then. We also have to order master bedroom and master bathroom windows, but we are waiting to see that happens next week. The only reason we are sticking with Pella is that we want matching windows throughout our house. Buyer beware!

It is not the continual delays, nor the disappointment in the product; it is not the varied contractors that they use without any responsibility on them nor the lack of follow up or satisfaction checks. It is the complete disregard from anyone in the office in a position of management to help. In the comical series of wrong measurements, delays, and poorly working products for a lot of money, I never once got a phone call to explain or apologize for the problems from anyone pleasant or helpful. I received a few calls from a clearly unsatisfied employee. That was what I was sold. I feel foolish. I feel like I was duped and discarded.

A few months later and after many calls, someone got back with us and informed us that we did not pay the 50%. This year we had a front window damage. Again a technician came in and looked at both windows and we provided our credit card number to charge it the required 50% 9 about $4000. They promised to come and install both windows in Nov. I purchased windows and doors from Pella for my house in 2017 and 2018 to be installed by a Pella certified contractor who is still listed on their website. The windows and doors were high quality and delivered on time. The installer/contractor and I parted ways after several issues with his quality of work and dishonest behavior. Due to this, the windows for the 3rd floor and basement were never installed. I reached out to Pella to try and get help with a new installer and was stonewalled, not called back and basically ignored after buying $88,000 worth of windows. Despite explaining the behavior of this contractor, his name and company remain on Pella's website.
Now, after finally finding a reputable contractor to install the windows, there are a few parts missing and one of the motorized windows does not work. The new contractor reached out to Pella for help and was again met with a complete lack of interest. Pella has not been willing to help in any way. Every single person I speak to who asks me about my windows.... I tell them they are Pella windows but to run as fast as they can away from Pella. Their windows and doors are high quality and gorgeous but Pella is a big zero on consumer service front. I would never recommend them.

I requested a replacement handle for a Pella Sliding Door. We found the handle in question. The handle was roughly $65.00. I was shipped a handle AND an exterior lock (option) costing roughly $293.00. I complained and requested to return the items in their unopened original factory packing. I have been told the factory will not accept returns. This does not seem fair. I never discussed and never requested the optional exterior lock.

In addition to damage to the outside of the door panel, one of the hinges is loose, the glass trims do not fit and the rubber seal at the bottom is damaged. What kind of quality control is this? Replacement panel has been ordered which now takes several months to be delivered. Never again!

Greg, a very pleasant agent for Pella Windows in Newport, RI, was very helpful in the process of getting the right sized windows, 2 double casements and a 3 glass unit of sliders, for a wall in our home. He was helpful in suggesting the type of windows for our expensive purchase. He was helpful in making sure our checks were in when Pella needed them. He was apologetic about the long delays COVID 19 caused - certainly a problem everyone has experienced and not the fault of Pella Windows. One of the sliding windows had some small cracks through the paint and down to the fiberglass. They were not structural, but, in the top surface of the bottom frame, they would definitely allow water to reach the subsurface and therefore the fiberglass. The water from the very humid area in which the building is situated, would migrate into the frame and gradually, repeated freezing and thawing would, over time, definitely damage the frame.
The choices were to have the entire frame removed and have another one made and installed, or to repair it in place. Because I have had decades of experience using polyester resins, epoxy resins and various fiberglass fabrics, I said I would repair it but I wanted them to agree to supply the materials and give me a discount, which Greg actually suggested. A field technician came out and adjusted trim that did not fit well. Then, Tick tock - nothing. I contacted Greg again. He would reach out to Pella - again. Eventually another agent, David, called. He was very interested in my situation and dedicated to getting a satisfactory resolution for me THE NEXT DAY! Can you hear the slow soft tick-tocking of a cobweb-covered grandfather's clock? That was about one and a half to two months ago.
This review is not about some severe issue. It is about trust and honor. It is about the lack of either a genuine interest in doing a job well or the lack of ability to actually accomplish it. Whatever it is, if you are thinking of buying Pella windows, certainly from this source, be very careful and if there is a problem, have Pella bear the the weight of their responsibility and, as friends of ours have done, have everything replaced that is not up to the standard that Pella claims.

After researching and putting down deposit in June 2021, order was scheduled for September. 2 of 3 doors had major install complications. My main bedroom sliding door was improperly measured by the Pella team. On site installer told me it would take a few weeks for new install. They had already removed my old sliding door. I called the mainline and emailed and no response. When they finally contacted me later in the week, I was advised it would be FOUR MONTHS until a new door could be ordered and installed. I am without a secure bedroom sliding door during the upcoming winter months.
My living room sliding door with inner blinds did not have all proper parts for blinds in either glass panes to work. Each pane was missing a different piece. One wouldn’t go down and up. One wouldn’t shut and open. A full month to have service appointment set to fix. Then Despite numerous calls and explanation of improper and incomplete install, the nice man who came out what not properly told what the issue was, and only my sheer luck did he have an extra piece in his truck to complete the job and fix the blinds.
BOTH sliding doors had incorrect color handle on outside. Stark white against black frame. 2 month waiting period for a third installation appointment to have corrected. I am incredibly disappointed with lack of urgency and customer service simply apologized did delay. I am without functional bedroom door, cannot access my patio, and do not have a secure home because of Pella. They have done nothing to accommodate this severe inconvenience and danger to my well-being. Overall - Not worth the cost and hassle and inconvenience. I called Pella about 10 years ago about all of my Proline windows leaking in my home. They said they were out of warranty. Now I find out there was a class action lawsuit and I was never notified by them or anyone else. Even though they still send me advertisement mail every year and they still have my information on file where I bought the windows from. I am the original home owner and my house was built in 1999. I called Pella again and I got the same answer.
Pella and the law firms handling this class action lawsuit should of contacted the home owners who had these windows installed but failed too! If Pella truly cared about their customers and safety of other people and their family they would make things right. I just went through a very long expensive divorce and cannot afford to replace all of the windows in my home. They are so badly rotted out now you cannot even open them up.
Sooner or later someone or some family is going to die somewhere because they cannot get out of their house if it catches on fire. Since the windows are rotted out so badly the window cranks no longer work. I am sure I am not the only one with this problem since there was a class action lawsuit filed and they failed to notify everyone like the automotive industries does if there is a recall on their vehicle. They all should be recalled. Unbelievable! This is a safety warning to the public.

Every time, incomplete or incorrect parts are shipped. The latest was they did not ship one of the fixed glass panels on one of the sliding glass doors. How the hell do you miss that, it's an 8' sliding glass door. In a few days we hit 365 days for two sliding glass doors. A year of frustration, delays, incompetency. Get it together Pella! We ordered our new patio door on 4/25/21 and got it installed today. We are beyond disappointed with Pella and their product. We ordered a custom size 3 panel patio door. Two of the panels were the correct size and color, however the 3rd panel was not only much smaller, it was also black instead of brown on the outside. As you can see from the pictures, the smaller panel is now being temporarily held together with wood around it so we don't have huge gaps around it. If only that was the end.
We are also missing the screen for the door and the handle! With no way to lock the door, we are left with a wooden makeshift stick "locking" our door. The outside of the door is left looking hideous! Apparently, the wooden panel/siding that was provided was also the wrong size, and we are left with exposed wood and the outside of our door looking horrible. How is this a product that you provide to your customers? Now we have to wait until you get your act together and provide us with a new and correct door and get it reinstalled. How long is that wait again? This is unacceptable and beyond frustrating!

Pella has a reputation for superior products and, one would assume, customer service commensurate with that type of quality. However, my husband and I would caution anyone considering a Pella installation in Colorado. After about 4 ½ hours with the Pella Windows & Doors of Colorado salesman, Dave **, we placed an order for about $60,000 on February 10th this year. The job finally began on June 7th. (Pella offered to start the last week of May, but since they originally indicated an April installation, we already had plans to be out of town.) We understand the construction industry has been slammed due to high demand, but we received no communication from Pella about the progress (or lack thereof) of our order. My husband has had to initiate all communication.
We were so excited when the windows arrived. That excitement quickly faded. This has been such a disappointing experience. For example, Pella delivered and installed a broken window, as well as obscured glass to replace transparent glass in two bedrooms, and a window that was four inches too short. Much of the frustration stems from the fact that Dave did not know how the sliding opening hardware works for two casement windows. Though we specified “no window opening control device; no limited opening hardware,” that is what they delivered. The slide-opening casement window requires you to remove the screen from the inside or to go outside to open the window more than ~6 inches. Pella believes we should accept an adaptation for the window which includes drilling holes in the frame to remove the unwanted hardware; we believe we paid for a new window that operates as described by our salesman.
The sales supervisor, Hunter **, came to our home last Friday and left agreeing to replace the windows with a prioritized manufacturing order. Today (Tuesday), however, Hunter called to renege on our oral agreement. He says that the contract allows them to repair before replacing a window. We contend that, since we received windows that we did not order in the first place, a repair is unacceptable. The only resolution is to replace with what we ordered. In the meantime, we have a wall of nine windows and stucco exposed to the elements. Does Pella care? Apparently not.
Then there’s the pricing issue. We have two sets of two windows that are identical in size. However, in one set, the price difference is $68.89. Add to that, we were charged $885 for stucco repairs when the Change Order states, “Customer will supply their own Stucco company to repair current damage to home and help seal windows.” Our own stucco costs are about $20,000. Are we being exploited or are these honest mistakes? Who knows, because when we’ve raised these issues with the salesman, the project manager, general manager of retail sales, and VP of retail sales, we’ve been answered with an invoice for 90% payment with no explanations of our pricing queries. The entire process, including ordering, delivery, installation, and customer service, has been – to quote the Pella GM for retail sales – “... a dumpster fire.” We recommend you look elsewhere for your windows and doors.

I have been a Pella Customer since approximately 2007. I've purchased windows and doors when I could afford them and likely signed 6-7 contracts. Monday I made a request for a quart of stain to touch up my walnut door and sidelights. There is no pricing on the website. I could not order the stain until Pella sent me a NINE page contract (which took about 48 hours to get) w/ the total cost of $248+/-... That's for ONE QUART of stain... Yes 5X's greater than the most expensive stain I could find on the internet. I immediately called the number on the contract, angry of course. I asked why is the stain so expensive and why do I need to sign a 9 page contract?... She did not know. I assume the stain is laden with diamond dust and gold flakes I complained. The price was reduced to $168+/-. No stain at Lowe's or HD matches Pella... The colors must be exclusive.
I feel compelled to write bc I've had a 15 yr relationship with this crew and I've had bad experiences from the first installation... Employees who did not know how to install a door, sub-contractors who did poor quality work. I threatened to put a complaint 7-8 yrs ago on Angie's List. A Pella employee asked me that I not do that. I complied. But this experience sent me over the top. Don't get me wrong, the product is superb... I love my windows and doors. However, their bureaucracy is worse than any government. NINE page contract (which they waived) to buy 1 quart of stain!!! The redundancy of this is why that stain is 5X's the price of the most expensive stain.
I love the glossy ads (and those brought me in), the sales rep is a really nice guy. However, every call to PELLA has been a bad experience and I want you to know. You'll love the windows/doors, but this is no relationship. The company gouges the consumer who supports them. FYI last evening I had a call from the same woman who said they would graciously sell the stain to me at a 50% discount .. That is wonderful don't you think? Now I only pay 3X's the cost of the most expensive stain on the internet.
It is for the constant errors and oversight that I've experienced over and over again that I will not recommend Pella. I cannot see one ounce of improvement in customer service over my 15 yrs of complaints to want to recommend you purchase this product. Oh, one more thing, you would think at the price of the stain, it would be delivered. No such luck... I have to pick it up. I am locked into this stain due to my door. I've been suckered. The company is arrogant!

We purchased Pella windows to replace all of the windows in our home with the top of the line Pella residential windows & screens. Unfortunately, from the salesperson to the installers this project was a mess. Most challenging for us was the fact that the person that measured the windows ordered the windows to open OPPOSITE from the way they currently open. So, the new windows all open from right to left. This is a problem because my Hunter Douglas window coverings open one direction and the rooms are designed for air flow. I repeatedly tried to reach the Colorado regional manager for Pella and he would not take my calls and would not call me back. Don't buy Pella.

So many issues with shades and recoil for my windows over the year. I had to fix always myself or it would have COST me big. A lot of the parts build into the PELLA door be it a sliding door or screen door are just cheap plastic parts made knowing that they will break under normal use. MOVE TO NOW 2021 a cheap screen door trolley which should be about 80 to 100 cost to replace when I purchased. NOW they want to charge me anywhere from 751.00 to 1000. 00 for a simple cheap part. AS THEY SAID TO ME, "WE HAVE THE PART IN STOCK." BUT IT IS A SUPPLY DEMAND THING. That's why the price is what it is!! A quote. So be warned!! Stay away from companies that look to PRICE GOUGE!! Contracted with Pella of Austin for installation of new windows and doors. Prepaid $10000 to start. After three months, and one false start, Pella announced they would not do the install but I owed for the windows. I stated that I was not interested without installation (which had been quoted at over $6000). Pella then offered to sell me the windows for $4000 and rebate the balance of the $10000. They then dumped the windows and doors off and left (no check). When I went to pick up a check, the owner Anthony Marino said he had changed his mind. He would only rebate $2500. This means I now paid $7500 for windows which was $1000s more than the original quote. He told me "take it or leave it" and then threw me out of his office.

Columbia, SC branch: after ~3 weeks of waiting on Pella service (sales) to return calls, I called repairman directly then texted him... No reply. (Now up to about 1 month of trying) We had an unusually rainy season and water was leaking inside & running down the wall. After a month of trying to get help I called the screen door division within Pella simply because I was trying to get ANYONE. FINALLY A HUMAN answered and promised to get me help.
A really nice sales rep came by and confirmed the problem but it took 2 weeks for someone to measure. (~6 weeks total now) In the meantime rain is running down my wall. I was told that when the man came to measure he would cover the window due to an expected 6 week delivery time (~3 mos total incl projected delivery). When he came to measure the only thing he brought was a terrible attitude and refused to cover the leak although he was outside to measure the leak. He says not his job description yet, it would have taken 5 minutes and little effort on his part to make a customer happy despite the lousy service to this point, but no.
Basically the complaint is: 1) Pella voice prompts are incorrect. Apparently repairs are not "service, repairs or parts" but rather "sales". Who would have thought? The sales division is independently owned which means they do as they please & customer service is LOW on the priority list. 2) They are non-responsive to answering the phone or returning calls. (Even Pella, Iowa customer service couldn't get them to answer!) Internally they are a mess. BEWARE If you expect service. A company is only as good as the people who represent it.

After reaching out to Pella, we were told that they don't have any parts to support 9 year old blinds. We were able to finally pry some lift string out of their greedy hands, but we noticed a 10 cent part at the bottom of the blinds was also broken. We were then told that they won't sell us the 10 cent part, but offered to make new blinds for us at a cost of $700. They can make new blinds that they don't support, using a 10 cent part that is all we needed. Just a warning to people thinking about Pella... dont. We had been looking to replace our front door for some time and we met with a few different companies to discuss a replacement. Greg from Pella met with us to discuss our options and based on our positive experience with him we decided to move forward with Pella. This was in mid-June of 2020 and marks the end of any positive experience that we had with Pella.
Our install was scheduled for early September but was then re-scheduled for late September. It was then pushed back multiple times into November. Various excuses (COVID, delays at the factory, shipping difficulties) were given. This alone would've been enough to warrant a negative experience, but there was much more to come. Our door was finally scheduled for install in mid-November. However, upon attempting to install the door, the install crew found defects both in craftsmanship and cosmetics. In their words, it never should've left the factory in Iowa. Considering our old door had been removed and disposed of, they installed the partially defective door with the intent of ordering a new one.
The folks at Pella told us that they would do everything possible to expedite the creation and shipment of a new door. We were hoping for a couple weeks, especially considering how many times they'd already re-scheduled. The best they could do was the end of December. End of December - we are at the six-month mark. Pella calls and states the door didn't make the shipment. We're LIVID and ready to cancel. We then speak with a sales manager who assures us our door will arrive in the next shipment at the end of January. End of January. The day before the scheduled install, we receive a call stating that they need to push our install date back a day because the door needs touch-ups. Not thrilled that it wasn't more thoroughly inspected before leaving Iowa.
Door is installed at the end of January, somewhat sloppily (see photos). There are caulking and painting errors that will need to be touched up - this should've been inspected and caught by a supervisor. Our porch lightbulb was broken in the process, and the glass was only cleaned up after we brought it to the installers' attention. Pella also had to send a technician back in the following days to address an issue with the hinges. The icing on the cake was being sent a final invoice that was $300 over what we had been told our final amount due was. Yes, it was an error, but in typical Pella fashion, it again demonstrated a lack of attention to detail.
In hindsight, it was a big mistake to hire Pella for this job. Yes, they attempted to make up for the multiple issues throughout the process with discounts, etc. But there comes a time when the project should be finished and finished up to a certain standard. Seven-plus months is MUCH too long, and I'm not sure that they ever met that certain standard. Lesson learned.

I read many of these reviews while the Pella installers were installing my new French doors and new window. It would seem that the company and the installers are no good based on all of the negative reviews. This is probably due to the fact that only angry, upset or disappointed people take time to write reviews (I'm guilty as well of this). I thought I would take a few minutes and share my experience, because it wasn't negative.
I have just completed a major renovation of the entire 1st floor of my home. I have brand new porcelain wood-look tile floors and new, expensive, cherry kitchen cabinets. I did much of the renovation myself. My plan was to have the door and window installed before the cabinets but after the floor were finished, but it didn't work out that way. The Window over the kitchen sink and the kitchen door were replaced last, after everything was finished. I was nervous that the installers might mess something up in my brand new kitchen. I sat at the table at the end of the room and watched the installers all day to make sure nothing was damaged, and nothing was.
The installers were Hispanic, all 3 of them. Only one of them spoke or understood English, which is disappointing (but that's another conversation). The person who spoke English was the lead and was the most skilled craftsman of the three. All three were courteous and professional. They arrived in the earlier part of the timeframe that was provided and they were ready to get right to work. Though it would have been easier on them to bring things through the house, they chose to bring everything needed around to the back outside. Anytime any of them entered my home they wore booties over their boots to protect my floors. They also used at least a half dozen fabric and plastic drop clothes to protect my floors and cabinets. Everything I was concerned about was protected, and I didn't have to say anything.
They needed to remove an existing window and an existing sliding glass door. The window came out fairly easily, but the door was more challenging. They were very good about keeping their work area clean. After removing the door and window they carefully measured and modified the rough openings to properly accept the new window and door. They discovered a problem with the previous door installation which presented a challenge in installing the new door. (In my house nothing is easy, ever). They presented the issue to me and a proposed resolution. I agreed with their evaluation and resolution and instructed them to proceed. This says that even if I wasn't there, they would have identified the problem, properly evaluated it and employed an acceptable resolution. The methods and practices they used were spot on, just like Mike Holmes would do or like you would see on "This Old House".
They installed a moisture barrier on the bare wood, shimmed everything off during installation and used spray foam to fill in and insulate the gap. Then the installed trim and added a sill to the kitchen window. None of my existing windows have sills. It's a nice touch. The finish work looks very nice. They caulked and painted everything. It looks perfect. Outside they bent and installed custom aluminum door trim that integrated with my existing siding. They caulked and weatherproofed it, and it looks great. It actually started to rain (it's January in the Mid-Atlantic region) and they kept on working.
My only real complaint is that the rain kept them from being able to sweep up all of the sawdust that they created on my deck and patio, but that's not their fault. The installer took the time to show me how the door and window operate, gave me some maintenance tips and answered my questions. What more could I want? So there you have it. I would be the first to rip someone if they did a bad job. My guys did a really nice job. Just as good as, if not better than, I would do myself. I hope you have a similar experience.

And it's the wrong color. And they refuse to correct it. I They said the Pella paintline at the factory is closed because of Covid. In our opinion, the new front door is slate grey, and we ordered brown. They keep insisting that it is brown. We disagree on the actual color. It is also missing paint trimmed in a contrasting color. So it's still at Lowe's, where we ordered it. They offered me some money back and we can paint it ourselves. It will be below zero this week, we are not going to stand outside and paint our front door the color it's supposed to be. That we have already paid for. The door cost $6000. And I have to paint it myself? The customer service has been terrible!
Few returned emails, few phone calls, they delayed the manufacturing and didn't tell us, then they came to install it and it wasn't painted the right color. This was verified by their own installers. Then it was delay, disagree about what color the door is, refuse to repaint it correctly, and then tell me we have to paint it ourselves because they aren't painting them right now, the paintline is closed down.. But I can get a discount on it. Even the Transom glass is different than what we ordered, and they didn't tell me or ask permission to change it. I told the sales rep that we don't have a heated space to paint it ourselves at our home. She was going to see what she could do, and get back to me a few days ago. I am still waiting. In 2001 I bought a new house with 22 Pella windows. In 2005 put on an addition with 6 more. 19 years later, 5 of those windows have failed (bottom piece of upper sash rotted out). 2 of those were within the 10-year warranty so were replaced free. I paid for 2 of the others for a total of nearly $1000. So I estimate that I have invested at least $15,000 in Pella windows.
When the 5th one failed in the same way, I had had enough. Let me explain. There are 4 windows of exactly the same type, all in a row. 3 of those rotted out completely. But the 4th is still rock solid after 19+ years. There must have been a manufacturing flaw, and I feel that Pella should own up to that and provide a replacement at no cost to me, or at least at a reduced cost. But they refuse to do so, even after I sent a letter of explanation to the President of the company. Moreover, they claim that they have had no other problems anywhere with the type of windows I have. That is very hard to believe, but if true, providing one window to me would be an insignificant cost to them. Prior to this new house, I lived in a house built in 1965 with Andersen windows. When I moved from that house in 2001, none of those windows had failed, they were all rock solid. Andersen in 1965 knew more about making windows than Pella did in 2001. I purchased what I thought was a quality product for my home. Approximately 10 years after I purchased the "quality Pella" door from Lowe's I noticed that it delaminated. Note that this door was mounted on my front porch with a very deep overhang. Not that they delamination was major but I would expect more for paying a premium. I contacted Pella customer service in June 2020 and after a long drawn out process of providing a serial number which was barely legible on the door hinge, I arranged to have it repaired, not replaced even though they indicated that it would be covered under warranty. So a technician visited and looked at the door and said that it should just be replaced, would be too difficult to repair.
It took a while to explain that it was not just the panel being replaced, but the whole door.... And the supplier that manufactured the door no longer supplied them the door. They sell it as manufactured by Pella as their own "quality" products. Not the case. They bid out to the cheapest supplier and mark it up. After waiting over 3 months & of course they used Covid as an excuse for the delay, the service tech arrived today with a door and was to swap out the hardware (knob and deadlock) and advised that it did not fit the doorknob and deadlock holes. He advised me that he did not bring any hardware with him since it was not on the order.
I asked him why this was not researched and he did not have an acceptable answer other than the new door is supplied by a different manufacturer. He was planning to just leave the door without any hardware and it was up to me to replace. Or, he could leave the door, replace mine and come back once I supplied the hardware or bought from Pella. I told him to remove the door and replace my original delaminated door and take back the initially thought warranted door. Their records showed that the door was over the 10 year warranty so I would have to pay for it along with the service to install. I told him to take his door and that I would never buy another Pella product again. This is a typical instance of poor customer service. In 2014, Pella Windows in Monroe, Connecticut installed several windows in our house in Redding, Connecticut. Within a few months, one of the triple windows began to leak water and their installer had to return to fix the problem. This past spring, 6 years after the window installation, in the process of renovating a bathroom, we discovered that two sets of windows had not been properly sealed and water had been leaking into the insides of the respective walls ever since.
We had to spend thousands of dollars repairing the walls, including the removal of the outside stucco. Had we not discovered the leaking as a result of the renovation, further damage would most certainly have occurred and the walls may eventually have fallen apart from the damage. Despite one of their store managers AND their current installation manager acknowledging the error in their installation, the Monroe, Connecticut store has disclaimed responsibility for the repairs based on the "expiration of their warranty period".
While we disagree with the store as to the length of the warranty period in the first place, and while the damage was DISCOVERED (fortunately) after their claimed warranty period, the damage resulting from their faulty installation did not occur AFTER the expiration of ANY warranty period. Instead, it occurred on the date of installation (well within any warranty period). Despite these facts, they are unwilling to cover the actual costs of repairing the damage they were totally responsible for causing. In hindsight, we would never have contracted Pella in Monroe to install our replacement windows if we knew they were unwilling to stand behind their work. Thomas F.

Windows are being replaced in my apartment building in the midst of a pandemic with a statewide mask mandate in place. Regardless of anyone's personal opinions and beliefs, it strikes me as a negative reflection on a company whose representatives disregard the governor's order and the advice of health professionals worldwide by not wearing masks in the building or individuals' apartments. They also used private bathrooms when a contractor's bathroom is available. They dripped urine on the floor and left the seat up, as well. Disgusting. Also, the windows are not high quality, but that is not the installation crew's fault.

Last summer, 2019, I hired a Pella repairman to see about replacing a Pella window that wouldn't close. He recommended that I replace just the sash, at a much more reasonable price. I was delighted, and agreed. It turns out he hadn't included the costs of the other parts there were necessary. After the work was done, he remarked that the parts had not been varnished, and that I needed to do that. Then I was charged an additional $175 for an hour of labor. About one month later, the window still wasn't closing properly. They did send someone out to fix it. Now, 13 months later, it is again not closing. Pella said it is not under warranty any longer, and will send someone out to fix it, for $177, the hourly rate. My old Pella windows will certainly be replaced with windows that are NOT Pella.

I am specifically referring to the GM of Brookfield WI whom would not bother to even return my emails or calls, shame on you. Customers don't expect resolution when things go wrong here because they don't care.
Off the bat the project manager aka idiot broke the panel door, lied about it and it took 6 more weeks to resolve. Then it gets better, the product contained defective glass and 3 panels had to be replaced. After installation I noticed daylight in the corner, yes daylight, took 3 tech visits and eventually the replacement door had to be replaced again...you can't make this up folks...and management could not care less. No corporate Mr Yaggi for you. The cost of poor quality in my case probably resulted in a loss. Updated on 09/17/2020: Today is Sep 16 and the promised due date was Sep 18. I patiently waited for 3 months and called them every other day to check if the eta will be changed again or not. Last checked two days ago and it sounded like they will keep the promise this time for sure, so I scheduled the installation on Sep 19th. Today I called again to make sure and they said it will be delayed another 3 weeks. This is 3rd time and they are saying it's all because of the virus.
Well, it's not the virus, my biggest problem is they don't tell you the fact until the last minute. Kindly asking me I can cancel the order after I wasted 3 months, and proudly telling me that they are not taking any more orders at this point. I know this new eta doesn't mean anything but I will give it a try one more time before I file a lawsuit. I've wasted so much time, money and energy for this nonsense people. I have no idea how they can keep their business with this kind of mindset. My last review will be Oct 9th and let's see what happens.
Original Review: We ordered our Pella Entry door through Lowe's on June 18 of 2020. $3,300 taken out of my bank right away. The original estimated delivery date was July 31, 2020. On July 30th, Lowe's informed me it will be delayed to August 14. This screwed my construction schedules big time but I had to understand because whole world is suffering now. Today is August 15 and I got informed new estimated date will be Sep 18. I called Pella and they said they have no idea what the status. They told me they are understaffed, it's all because of pandemic and I'm not the only one. I've already wasted two months and not sure if it will be done by another month. I don't understand why they took this order if they can't handle it. At least as soon as they found it will be delayed, they need to communicate with customer. But they don't care about other people's schedules and life. Pella is a bigger disaster than pandemic for me.

In 2012, we purchased and installed two (2) patio sliding doors by Pella. Years later, we noticed water damage in our basement. We called our Home Insurance Company who sent out a water mitigation team. When assessing the water damage and trying to figure out where and how the leak was coming from, they realised the leak could be coming from our kitchen Pella sliding patio door, which is directly above the water damaged area and noticed our kitchen flooring showed signs of warping.
Then, we called Pella who had a service team come out. The service team immediately identified the installers caulked over the bottom two (2) weeping holes. The service team member explained there are four (4) weeping holes on the model Pella patio sliding doors we purchased and that this is not the first time he had to fix this issue due to improper installation. Before the service team member left, I was told this issue was going to be reported to Thomas "TJ" ** (Service Manager), and to wait a few days before calling to speak to TJ. The service team member believed this should be an issue Pella would/should be liable for, as a consumer how am I to know if they caulked weeping holes, as a consumer is not a Pella product expert. Home Insurance does not cover water damage due to improper installation, so we had to turn/rely on the Pella "lifetime" warranty.
A couple days later, it rained, and even though the service team removed the caulk and opened the two (2) bottom weeping holes, water was still leaking into our basement. In addition water started to leak under the sliding patio door and into our kitchen. Needless to say, we called and spoke to TJ. After our conversation, I sent him a detailed email with images of the water damage (basement and kitchen) and asked for the consideration of the patio door to be re-installed.
TJ and I had another conversation and informed me another service manager will come out to our house and assess the situation further. This service manager not only confirmed the patio door was improperly installed, due to lack of required layers of sealant after investigation, along with the weeping holes being caulked -- but also told us back around the time we purchased our Pella product, he was made aware of their installation teams farming out work to unauthorized contractors (friends), so they can make more money due to the total amount of installations completed in a day or week. This service manager looked up our purchase history and confirmed the installation team booked to our project was known for this such act and informed us this will be in his report back to leadership.
We are now at the point, were TJ has finally answered my calls after 3 weeks to tell me they will are not liable for any of the damage, I should call my Home Insurance Company and if I have any further issues/complaints with Pella to speak with his boss Bryan **. I've called Bryan over the past 2 weeks and have yet to hear back. The "Pella Promise" is a total joke and they have not supported the "lifetime warranty" claim. Pella is a company I would recommend staying away from. I will also be sharing my poor overall experience across all social media platforms.

Regarding my 6/30/20 install: My Pella experience started off very good. Salesman and the ordering experience was great. Things started falling apart when the New Construction windows I ordered showed up as retro-fit windows that I DID NOT WANT. I spent around 18 hours of my time removing the siding as I committed to do while being very ill with C-diff. Then the windows show up as retro-fit meaning I wasted a huge amount of my time while being in physical distress. I was upset and called my salesman immediately, stating I would let them install the incorrect windows as it did no good to reject them and Pella having custom product laying around the warehouse and the crew losing out on an install slot but in exchange I expected compensation for that and all my wasted time removing/reinstalling the siding while horribly ill. He said he would check in to it and get back to me. This started a series of promised return calls that never happened.
The install crew was great with the exception of them having someone with no experience in applying the weatherproof tape do the job, he did not roll the tape on to the window properly leaving 85% of the job having gap & crack opening where the water would just run in to the wall cavity. I had to go to Lowes and buy 2 rolls of window/door sealing tape and go over the incompetent job to seal out the weather/rain. Then while reinstalling the siding on the back window I found it had been made short of the correct measurement requiring me to cut the J-channel down to fit and also a 2” gap between the window and the siding. The 2 front windows were fine.
After multiple calls/texts with Salesman and promises of it “being looked in to” the last contact from him was that “Mr. X will call you tomorrow” which has not happened after 6 days. I held off on making any bad reviews as I expected (wrongly) the company to make this right so I finally told Salesman that I had a deadline of 8/7/20 (6 weeks of no action) that I would be forced to post bad reviews.

She said, "No we won't send anyone from that location." Well I received the e-mail notification, where do you think they are sending the technician from Scranton Pella.
I called back to let them know they sent two people out the first time when I had issues and they told me nothing wrong with the window. I am now having it taken out and put back in my drywall fixed inside my house that they damaged and said nothing plus the other multitude of problems with the window. My new problem which I am hoping is not a leaked seal throughout the window, I was told by their corporate customer service that they can't send anyone from another location and I could go through a third party. If I go through a third party then the warranty is void, I explained to the girl on the phone how can they fix a seal leak this third party if that is the problem, they would have to replace the whole window. During the conversation, I was told they only deal with the manufacturing issues of the window.
I explained a leaked seal is a manufacture problem and it would be your problem to replace the window if this is true. Still I was told there is nothing they can do. I would have to go through Pella out of Scranton. Thank you Pella for my experience with your company, a memorable one that cost me 7,000 dollars. If I ever want to throw money away I will contact you to replace more of my windows. I am putting this out there so other people in my area will read my issue and think twice about going through this company. I now have a window with a possible problem, Pella does not stand behind their product.
Original Review: Run as fast as you can from Pella out of Scranton Pa. They do not hold up to their promise and lied from the beginning. I had issues with my window, they did damage to my drywall, exterior wood frame of my house was exposed, the bay window underneath was not painted etc.. When they came to put the window in they said I was suppose to buy the shingles for the roof over the top of the window etc.. My window settled and the one worker that came out said it settled and would need the cables adjusted. They sent another guy and told me the first guy never told him that. I now have damage to my house and a window that gets condensation on it and when I told him he didn't believe me.
The woman I spoke to at Pella in Scranton told me that what I explained to her should not be happening. They all lie. Run away from this company. If you want a Pella window have a private contractor put it in. I am sorry I didn't do it. The sad part it took me five years to save for this Bay window. I didn't even want to give them a one star rating.

Please DO NOT hire Pella for your windows. I don't know where to begin. But I will start by saying that Pella is one of the most deceptive companies I have ever dealt with in my lifetime and employ the most dishonest employees I have ever come across. Beginning with the salesperson (Dave **) to the General Manager (Jamie **) to the horrible installation crew (which by the way, are subcontractors - but Pella will put on pretenses that the installation crew are actual Pella employees).
And then realizing that my new windows have no serial numbers - save for a few windows that have a clear label - which customer service confirmed they have not printed these types of labels on their windows since 1995 (and also which means I can never make a claim if something goes wrong with my windows), and then having to deal with the corporate office, who claims they have nothing to do with the local Dallas office. Not to mention that my windows are supposed to be Energy Star rated - they are not. I am dreading the 100+ heat here in Dallas - already my windows upstairs are heating up, and the heat in my bedroom is worse now than with the old windows that were built with the house in 1999.
Since voicing my complaints last February, Pella has removed certain Google searches that show poor reviews from customers, as well as links to their long history of lawsuits. If you go to Google and type in "consumer affairs Pella Windows" it will take you to the ConsumerAffairs website and show all of the very, very bad reviews from customers.
Not only did Pella sell me windows that I did not receive, they also misrepresented themselves regarding the city permits. Be aware - Pella may charge you 10+ times the amount of the required city permit charge, which they did to me. And then they will claim that they have a "permit department." They don't. If you look on the paperwork, the salesperson is the one who submits the application for the permit. Most people don't go to the trouble to find out how much a permit is for window installation in their city, but I did, and my jaw dropped when I realized how much Pella charged me, and then realized that Pella has gotten away with robbing people this way for YEARS!! When I brought this to Pella's attention - including the Dallas President Matt ** - they said they would "reimburse me" only if I allowed them to come to my home and place new inspection labels on my windows. HAHAHA! WTF? This company is a complete joke.
Once Pella knew of my complaints, they had their attorney send me a stupid letter in an attempt to harass and intimidate me. These kinds of threats do not work with me. Pella was very negligent in selling and installing my windows, and seems to have a history of doing so with many, many, customers, due to all of the negative reviews and the class action lawsuits. Pella also violated the Deceptive Trade Practices Act, which carries serious penalties. In addition, the windows I received are not "Energy Star" rated, which they claimed to be when I was sold the windows. I want my money back, Pella, and I will get it back, times a few and punitive damages, since it now appears that I will have to sue you.

6 Pella storm doors were installed as part of an extensive remodeling project at our home. After about 5 years one door demonstrated rot due to condensation and moisture due to poor Pella design. The doors are not sealed to prevent moisture from getting behind the doors' metal casing. Therefore moisture accumulates in the door and causes rot. Eventually the 5 other storm doors demonstrate the same problem requiring us to replace all 6 doors. The poor exterior design is responsible for this problem and would not recommend using Pella products. From the reviews listed, this is not the first time this problem was described. I need to let the rest of the world know who not to contact for replacement windows. It is disgusting that such a large national brand window company would have such incompetent personnel in field operations. A brief recap for you since I am confident that no one with Pella has actually looked at my situation in detail. My project included 14 individual windows and as a result of an incompetent salesperson a/o person making the "exact" measurements, the installation team could only completely and successfully install 6 of the 14 windows. What does this say about Pella??
The front of my home has a Pella scab which includes a foil back material filling a transom window slot because an incompetent processor somewhere along the way in the Pella food chain failed to get the quantity of windows correct. Additionally, the "final measurement" was WRONG for three windows and one window was broken in shipment. I contacted my salesperson who offered zero assistance. The person coordinating the installation obviously saw no need to prioritize windows to replace the incompetence that put me in this situation noting the ETA for correcting Pella's comedy of errors would be four weeks. They are poorly made and have not held up. It is impossible to get any help from Pella customer service and of course nothing is in warranty. I noticed after the windows and doors were installed and the contractor was long gone that the windows and doors had the incorrect color hardware. Too late to fix that problem. I never received keys for the back door. Since I don't use it for entry I didn't focus on the problem. It's too late to get anything fixed but every time I think about all of the things that Pella got wrong it still makes me angry. Building an addition was stressful and confusing and this made it difficult for me to notice all of the things that went wrong until long after the project was completed. When called and talked to an agent we were given an option to get free storm door that we agreed to. Couple months after we called and checked on our complimentary storm door and Brend forgot to place an order. After I emailed to their manages, Carroll handled things in a better professional manner and they ordered our storm door with the included installation. After a while door was received but it was winter so no one came in to install the door.
This April I asked if we can finally get the storm door installed as discussed last year and yes, the installer showed up. However he had some other priority jobs to finish and asked if he can come back! Sure, I understand that there is more urgent jobs than our storm door that we were waiting for almost a year. Recently I found another sash that was rotted out. Since the windows are no longer under warranty the cost for a replacement sash is $788.12 if I install it. The original window cost $351.22. Since receiving that quote I found 2 more windows with rotting sashes. None of these windows is in a wet or even damp area so rot should never be a problem. I finally agreed to pay the price, since I am selling my house. Since all my windows are Pella, I realized I was stuck. How is it possible that Pella can't replace the glass in one of their own windows? Why would they design a product like that? And how can they justify $611 for a single sash? Please do not make the same mistake I did by purchasing Pella windows or doors unless you plan to change out your windows every 10 to 15 years. Poor engineering and the lack of effort by the company to stand behind their mistakes. The water seeps in behind the exterior aluminum clad and rots your window and door frames inside out. The company replaced one slider at the 10 year mark at the end of the warranty because it started to show signs on the inside and I thought it was just bad luck and something must have happened at the factory. Had I have known what I do today I should have popped off the aluminum clad on ALL the windows and doors and inspected the sashes and had the company replace my whole house.
So after several attempts and inspections they were willing to offer a discount on a new PVC door for 3 times the cost of the original door. Wow thanks Pella...and I just found out by a glass company that your new plastic doors will warp in the hot sunlight. I feel bad for the people who purchased Pella products. It's only a matter of 10 years or so before the rot reaches the inside of the house that you can actually see the damage. I encourage consumers to have their windows thoroughly inspected before the warranty expires.

Within about 10 years, Pella wood clad windows will rot. You won't know it until they crumble. The engineers at Pella chose to seal (?) their window cladding, which is aluminum with a clay bead that shrinks and then allows water to leak behind the cladding, which rots the wood. The Pella "lifetime" guarantee is rotten too! I have replaced many Pella windows in my house because they rotted.
Again, a smallish 25x42 fixed sash is rotten and Pella wants $650 for a new one, uninstalled! It will be less expensive to make a new window from scratch, which is what I plan to do. Remember, that's $650 for the sash only (the part that is inside the frame). Buy anything other than Pella, they are way, way over-rated and way, way overpriced. New home construction in 2015. All Pella Designer double hung windows and 2 Designer Patio doors. We have the same complaint as Donald from Sturgeon Bay, WI. on Dec.11, 2019. Every time temps are below 20 degrees outside we have frost or water on our wood window sills where sash meets sills. We tried shrink wrapping our screen and reinstalling to act like a storm window with same result. Seems to be design issue/lack of insulation on strip that sash closes on causing the strip to stay ice cold due to outside metal meeting the wood and causing the cold air to meet the warm air. We have no issues with any other areas of the window or glass. Pella keeps saying it is humidity issue and will not try to resolve. We have had humidity levels as low as 20% with same issue. We have had the issue since the windows were first installed until now which is 5 yrs later.
The patio doors also have frost around the entire sliding door seal when temps are cold. Also the glazing beads wore out on all the stationary windows on patio doors which caused water to enter house and on floor around the glass. Pella charged us $90 to come and caulk around outside glass and told us they would replace the glazing beads. Then told us just caulking the windows is the Pella fix. We also get ferning frost in between the panes of the windows in winter. Most likely caused by the poor seals around the glass panels. Pella has poor customer service and poor quality windows and doors.

I gave one star because there is nothing lower than that. I chose them they supposed to be the best. I have the worst experiences with them since August 2019. Two small windows and one big one for the family room. It’s not done, first thing the installer was the bad he miss up the window and then every two month somebody come to check and then they decide to change it.
I been waiting two months for my appointment. They call me and say my window broke when they are bringing it to the warehouse. And I have to wait another two months for that, I have nothing else to do. My lift just waiting for Pella fricking windows and the job is not done yet. Very bad. Everything for the money they charge. Please don’t ever do Pella window, never ever. It was a big mistake and very bad experience. I am can’t wait to get them out of my life when the if they finish the jony.

Salesman was pleasant and on time for appointment. He provided a quote for $18k for the 19 windows we wanted replaced, but never followed up with us. I called him back 30 days later after getting town approval for new windows (I live in an area deemed "historic" in MA). We agreed to go ahead, so they sent out the measurement crew to check all dimensions. Revised quote came back for $32k. They said all the windows needed full installation, not just be replaced. We will look elsewhere.

It has been a horrible go around with Pella and after starting the replacement process of my cathedral window with them in September, the job is still not complete and it is already the 2nd week in January! Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for your window replacements! They do not care about their customers and they will charge you the full amount up front ($7800) regardless of whether the job is complete or not. They do not return phone calls and do not take any responsibility for their errors when the job is not completed as scheduled.
Our install date took 6 weeks to get scheduled and then on that date (Nov. 25th), they couldn't finish the job because they broke the new grid they needed to install with the window. I have now gone through 2 major holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas) without our window being completed. I have given them plenty of chances to make this right, and after leaving countless messages for many people at Pella, I have now resorted to writing this very honest and angry review of them. I gave my old door to a friend, not Pella, the door is now 40 years old, and still in good condition. I wrote to Pella, and sent pictures of the corrosion. So much for their 10 year warranty. They wrote to me saying they would send me a credit voucher on the door I purchased, and the warranty was prorated. I should receive the credit voucher in 3 to 4 weeks. My wife and I are remodeling our home in Bozeman, MT and purchased 25 windows at a cost of $20,21 on 12 September 2019 with a delivery date of 14 October 2019. We were meticulous about details of the order and the contractor planned the remodel so that his work incorporated this delivery date. We received the order a bit later than the noted delivery date but in time for the contractor to stay in pace. Unfortunately, a number of windows sizes and types were wrong. We returned the "wrong" windows and clearly noted what was wrong and what we needed. The replacement window order came last week and was also incorrect -- it was not what we ordered.
Our local Pella dealer now tells me that the replacement (second replacement) cannot not be delivered until late February. My contractor noted that this will cost me another $2000 and our home will have a board over the window until then. It should be noted that the contractor is trying his best to get this done before the Montana winter hits us in earnest. My original windows were Pella so I thought they had their act together. Given their unprofessionalism, I should have purchased Marvin windows.

It will cost us $800, for labor from Pella, plus $75 for a technician to come out to replace the "free" window. Additionally, we have had the door replaced twice in 2 years due to the wood cracking. Once I asked about the reoccurring problem, the technician said we'll just keep replacing it. We are on our 3rd door with the same problem and are now out of our labor warranty. The original purchase price was $7500 for a foyer window and door unit. We were willing to pay this price for a great product. We were very wrong. Pella windows installed in 2003 when my home was constructed have rotted from the outside to the inside. These are two large windows - one a fixed picture window; the other a window complex of two casements on the sides, one large fixed picture window in the middle and a large fixed horizontal window spanning the top. The progressive rot had been occurring unnoticed for years because of the aluminum cladding. There was a class-action settlement that I wasn't party to that I had no prior knowledge of and so was not able to participate in the settlement.
I offered Pella to meet them halfway on the cost of replace these two window sets. They refused and instead quoted me a price of nearly $12,000 to replace them. Ultimately, I contracted with Windows By Andersen to replace at a cost of $10,000. I would strongly advise against doing business with this company. Last year we bought a house and we have been remodeling. I have custom ordered a door because I wanted a specific design and colors. We look all around town and pella was the only one that I figured would be the perfect manufacture for the door. We waited for a month and when it got close to getting it delivered the guy insisted to have someone home to help me unload which it was not possible for them because he didn’t want to pay his people overtime. I ended up unloading it since my husband was working out of town and didn’t get home until late that day.
We rushed to install it the same night since the weather was about to get bad. Next morning I inspected the door to make sure that I got what I order and noticed the hinges and sill were black and I ordered oil rubbed bronze. There was dents and stain on the glass and un-stainted spots on the door itself and a bunch of silicon on all the corners. I contacted them and after a few weeks a rep came out to look at it and he was definite that the hinges and sill were black and told me he’ll contact the engineering department.
A month later of going back and forth they told us that Pella has built our door to spec and the matte black hinges is their version of oil rubbed bronze.... a rep came out again and said I’m sorry but you got the right order and handed me a stain pen to fix the dents and scratches. We were planning on getting a few more doors but I much rather get it from Home Depot than from Pella. We had Pella come and install windows Monday and they verified the work on the inside and left. When we climbed the ladder outside the home we seen no sealing of the windows from the outside. A piece of flashing they say is decorative is just flapping and they claimed they used double sided tape and it always holds. Double sided tape in the elements is not ok for the amount of money they charge for installation. Now it has been more than a week. 2 days of rain, more rain to come, no communication after multiple messages with multiple people, and now the company that they use for financing won't not pay them because technically the windows are in.
This is the second time we've used them and they had to come back the first time because our siding wasn't put back on place leaving our home exposed to the elements. They did come back the next day on that and finished. But why is a big company using people who won't finish work on the outside up high because most people won't climb on their own and check. The window they put on the front porch that we would have to see and pass each day is beautiful so why can't that be the ones we don't pass and see. They should all be done of same quality. We have more windows and Pella will not be getting out for those.

In November of 2018 I purchased 12 new series 250 & 2 designer patio slider doors. Seven of the 250 windows were ordered incorrectly in that they were not tempered glass as per drawing submitted & building codes require. I immediately made the salesperson aware of the problem upon delivery and he told me he would re-order the sashes required and they would be replaced, which they attempted to do in April of 2019 when they replaced only 4, even though they admittedly could not find the other 3 setting in their warehouse somewhere.
To make a long story short, they have come to my house every month since (unless the windows shipped from the factory were warped or scratched. Hey, at least they're checking them now before driving an hour to my home only to find they're bad. That's happened 4 times, the last one yesterday), and we are still not done with the fix. They have scheduled 3 times an A. M. or P. M. appointment with a no-show - no-call waste of our time. I think they're trying to piss me off now or maybe set a record on how long a customer will continue in patience.
I have spent over $50K on their windows over the past several years on my remodel projects. I am a contractor and have owned a building trades service company for over 37 years. I know things go bad beyond your control sometimes. I also know that how a company responds to problems separate the good companies from the bad. When their own service people tell you they are very embarrassed, when their sales & service staff are quitting the company, you know there's a problem. Yet Pella Iowa is still not listening. Listen now Pella. YOU HAVE THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!! IN MY 65 YEARS OF LIVING. But maybe that's just in Western Michigan.

I purchased Pella Designer Series casement windows when we built our house so these were installed new construction. About 4 years after installation I complained that certain windows were fogging up. I had noticed it very early on but overlooked it due to weather conditions. When the local service rep arrived at my house I was told that these windows required to be refinished again due to the fact that the sashes had dried out and the urethane had broken down, I asked how and why this had happened and I was told that this window has had this issue from the onset. This spring I had a french door get 3 holes in the aluminum for no reason at all. I had to fight and argue with them to get it replaced. They did replace it but it was my responsibility to pay the install fee as well as my responsibility to get the interior side refinished. which I have done at a cost of about $500.
I received a survey from Pella after the door install and I responded honestly. I would NOT recommend Pella to ANYONE. That got their attention. They had a service rep visit my home to look at my windows again today only to be told that this is again just "what happens to these windows". So here I am stuck with foggy expensive windows that no one will take responsibility for. Pella has designed a window that requires that the homeowner have them refinished from inside out at least every year. Where is the sense in that??? I will NEVER purchase another Pella product.
I feel that I was not properly advised of the maintenance that these windows required. Who wants to take apart their windows and sand, stain and urethane the sash every year? When I requested that the rep escalate this issue to her superiors she said they do not warranty these windows against condensation between the panes. Nor do they tell you that the condensation will exist! Beware that the sales people are not telling you the real maintenance requirements of being a Pella owner.
