Horrible company!! We had our refrigerator making noises, tech came out said everything was fine. We also had a heater fan replaced under warranty and were told by OR to have it replaced and submit labor cost. We have no response for months. Our refrigerator went out, no response. When called and told of issues they put you on hold. You can sit on hold for hours and they will not answer.

Avoid Old Republic if you want your AC to be repaired promptly. We were without AC for multiple days and it went out AGAIN after they already came 2 times in the last week. Every time you call you end up on hold for 30+ minutes just to be told they have no clue when their contractor will come out. People on the phone don’t seem to care that your home is 85 degrees after MULTIPLE repairs. Absolutely zero sense of urgency or care. I called and they said they were closing soon, so they hung up on me and left us without AC for ANOTHER night after they promised me that I would get a call from a manager that same day. Never got the call… I feel like I got scammed. I am absolutely dreading the thought of our AC going out again and am almost at my breaking point to pay a 24/7 repair company out of pocket who can come same-day, even though Old Republic already got my money. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I have had other home warranty companies in the past. I had one that is advertised a lot of TV. They were so bad I had to complain to the state insurance regulators about their poor customer service. I now have Old Republic Home warranty for over two years, and I am so happy with them. I can message them on their Homeowner central Website, and they always respond with a friendly call.

I contacted Old Republic about an air conditioning unit. They sent out a company Air Max Heating and Cooling to repair my unit. Needless to say the company came out. The next day my unit still wasn't working. I contacted the company Air Max Heating to let them know my unit wasn't working. They informed me that they are too busy to return and fix the unit. Old Republic will not answer the phone and I have tried to contact them several times.

Overall, our experience with Old Republic has been very positive and straightforward. The user interface on the website was fairly decent. And just coordinating with local vendors was straightforward and timely. When I submitted a claim, I went online and went through the selection process for a type of claim I was trying to make. Then, after submitting the claim, I was reached out to, via email, by the local vendor that coordinates with them to take care of our issue. My experience with the vendor was very positive. However, the navigation to select the specific claim I was trying to make, trying to figure out exactly what category it fell into, was muddled. I hope there will be a couple more categories to pin down the exact issue I was trying to fix. We had an issue with our AC unit, and I was trying to figure out which camp that fell into to file an additional claim. But they are worth the time to put into, if you have a claim.

I bought my house about six months ago, and Old Republic came in the deal with my house. I've had to use it one time which I did on the phone. It was was an AI response. I had to press a bunch of numbers, and it lead me to the right department of Old Republic ‘cause they have different lines for different claims. The hardest part of the process was finding the right number, but overall the claims process was easy. The claim was for my AC unit that was acting up, and I had an AC guy come out. He was a good dude. I liked it when he was there. But there were two times he told me he was gonna show up, and he didn't. I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he had stuff ran over and ran out of time. We had to reschedule a couple of times, and it was a little frustrating at the time, but it worked out.

We've been protected for five months by Old Republic Home Warranty which is what our realtor gave us. However, Old Republic should have more local repair people. We're in a small town, and someone had to come three and a half hours to fix our garage door. He ended up replacing the garage door opener. It's functioning.

Our air conditioning was broken from Sunday evening until Thursday evening at 8:00 PM. It required a visit from THREE different vendors before the last gentleman discovered & repaired the problem. Each person we dealt with was very courteous and very professional, but we had to call multiple times and each time there was a ONE HOUR WAIT ON HOLD to speak to an agent. The first & second vendors were unable to resolve the problem. I wish we could have just called our own HVAC person Sunday evening and gotten the AC fixed at the first of the week. We were expecting out-of-town company at 9:00 Thursday night, so not getting the AC running until 8:00 that night was VERY stressful!! Waiting for Old Republic’s vendors to fix the issue with our AC was not at all satisfactory.

I was told that when my policy renewed I could add-on heating and cooling, and I ended up needing to go out of town, so I was approximately 3 or 4 days after my policy had renewed, I called them and asked them Could I still add it and was transferred twice? And everyone kept telling me, no, there was no way I would be able to still add it. And then they told me, yes, you can add it, but you won't be able to use it until next year. I've been with this company for 4 years and being a loyal customer means nothing. I feel like I should have still been able to add this service. Looking for another company.

Old Republic has always been there for me, and I have recommended them. I've been in this house for at least 20 years and I've been using them for that period of time. However, I don't like that they won't let the plumber use the same stuff that I have. I have Delta faucets but they put in a cheap one and that thing is crappy. I'm pretty mad about my faucets. Also, the technicians are shabby. Some of them don't even act like they know what they're doing. But they read directions and do the job the way they're supposed to be doing it.

I bought a condo and there were all kinds of issues with the electrical outlets and plumbing. Old Republic’s techs came and in every case, they ruled out that they can’t do it and it’s not covered. And yet, they sent me a $100 bill, which is the deductible, for every time the tech showed up. I refused to pay that. This last time, the freezer broke down and I called Old Republic again. They sent someone who repaired it but I haven't heard anything from them. I'm hoping that they will pay him. The guy checked the plumbing behind the refrigerator because the ice maker wasn't connected and did something with the water and dryer. And I paid him myself the first time he came. So, I'm not holding my breath this time around. I got an email from Old Republic asking for $100. They’re very fast at doing that. I sent an appeal and told them that I would pay the $100 gladly, but the techs didn’t do anything. If an electrical outlet doesn't work, that's on them.
I ended up spending over $30,000 just to address a particular leak under the tub. I remodeled the bathroom because if I’m gonna remove the tub, I might as well redo the bathroom. In another bathroom, I spent $450 fixing a small drain in the bathtub. There was also a window with a large black or dark brown spot because the property is near the ocean, and I spent about $450 replacing the glass. I didn’t report some of these issues to Old Republic because I got frustrated. They were not doing anything. I didn’t report the window or the slow drain in the other bathroom, but I did report the other bathroom. They told me to take the tub out, and then they would assess what they could or could not pay, which didn’t make sense. So, I didn't have a good experience with them.
Old Republic's goal is not to pay and to extract the $100 from me. I would never recommend them for homeownership protection. I was told by my realtor that this warranty is in case there are any flaws that are found that the inspector didn’t catch. But I don’t know why a leak or a clogged drain or why the brown spot on the glass wouldn’t be flaws because it was there when I bought the property.
The warranty is very generic in nature. You buy this insurance in case there is something that happens in a year. So, it’s not cheap. Coverage-wise, I read the fine print and everything on what was gonna be covered. But Old Republic always find a reason not to cover it. I’d like to be fair to them, but it seems to me their main goal is how to extract the $100 from the customer and get away from doing anything. They probably know the provisions in their agreement and could point to what it says, but to me, it’s common sense. I cited the incidents I had, with the exception of this last freezer incident, and they denied everything. But they may be right. I am not sure.
Despite everything, the customer service is very pleasant when you call them, and they immediately act on what you request from them. The last time, I was telling them I wanted the same guy who came and hooked up the freezer to the water and replaced whatever was leaking. He's been working with this old type of refrigerator, GE, for a long time, and they were a little bit difficult. I convinced Old Republic to send him, and they agreed to do that.

I bought a house, and the house had Old Republic with it. Then I let it go. I changed to a different company. But I didn't like that company, so I came back. However, it's a little bit more than I was paying when I quit them. And the service charge was originally $75. And you pay them the $75 when they come. Now, it's more expensive, and you have to do it online. I think it’s 130. It's a big difference with money, and you have to pay over the phone. So that I don’t like. But so far, my experience has been good. With the last call that I just made, the rep was really nice and helpful.

I was introduced to Old Republic when I bought my house in 2004 and when I first started, I was paying $75 and I pay $110 now. Everything is going. If you want the service, you gotta pay what you gotta pay. The only thing is, I have been calling customer service to get in my request, and they sent me all the way around the board, and then sent it back to where I started from. But the quality of the people has been good. Old Republic sends reliable people out to do the work, and I don't have any problems with that. There was only one incident when I was very unsatisfied but Old Republic rectified the incident, and everything has been straightened out. If you want your work done right, as long as you keep your bill up, your work is gonna get done right.

I like knowing that if something broke, Old Republic would come and look at it. It was easy to submit a claim, and then they gave me the name of the contractor, the address, and the phone number, and that they would be in contact with me as to when they were coming. I sent in a claim for the pump on our hot tub. We were pushing the button, but it wouldn't come on. It would take four tries for it to come on. When the tech came out, he pressed the button, and it popped right back on. He kept the claim open for 30 days, which was nice, in case we had any other issues. But we just let it go, and we hit it a couple of times until it comes on.

When we bought a house, the people that we bought it from gave us the policy with Old Republic as the part of the purchase. I've used them once and they turned out to be the real people. We were happy. They came through and sent the people right on time. The job was done. They could do better communication though. I was just told someone local would reach out to me to see how they could fix the issue. I wasn't sure who was gonna call and had to wait for a couple of days in a limbo. My refrigerator stopped working, and a refrigerator not working in the summer could be a real problem. If the company they use could start responding to people right away, that would be awesome.

My agent recommended Old Republic Home Protection during my home purchase, and the buyer paid for the home warranty as part of our home negotiation. The $100 service fee just for someone to come out and diagnose the issue, and then potentially having to come back if there’s more intensive work needed, turned me away from calling through my package to get things fixed at the house. Just because I know I could get things fixed for cheaper with a local repairman. But I had one of the preseason tune-ups for my AC that was included in my package, and the techs came out. It was easy and efficient to deal with. I would recommend the service if friends or family are looking for something similar.
