Model # LW1216ER: Do not purchase this Chinese piece of junk, lasted a year and 10 days after warranty expired. Compressor stays running even after manually or remote controlling it off, must unplugged from AC outlet. This can be a potential fire hazard and you can come to no home and God forbid your pets. This company needs to recall this unit and repair it with quality relays or get sued. China can copy a product to a tee but use inferior parts, watch out for their dog food as well as it's poison our pets and their toys kill our toddlers with chemicals they use. I did not know LG was made in China or I would have never purchased this junk.

I only wish I could give 0 stars. I've had the system for 2 years now and it has never worked properly. Installed in March of 2016 and within two months the a/c was blowing warm air. I had the installer come back and he said the condenser was bad. I called LG and told them I had the LG mini split system and they said, "You need to call the commercial dept for mini splits," and gave me a 1-800 #. Called the 800 # and was put on hold for 36 minutes before I gave up.
The next day I tried again and same thing. Then I told the person, "Please don't put me on hold again," so he bounced me from line to line to line--you know the game. Ok, so I called back the original LG customer service and asked if they had a website for commercial customer service and they said, "No but here's the 1-800 #." Ya right. Ok so I called Angie's List to see if I could get someone to fix my LG mini and the first 6 people wanted nothing do with it. Finally I got a guy to come out and fix it but it stopped blowing cool air after a month. Anyway, that was the pattern for the last 2 summers and I just tried it and it doesn't work. Please! Don't buy an LG! If you don't believe me just call LG customer service just for fun and they will bounce you to the Comm. dept and give you this stupid 1-800#. Then the fun begins... Just buy a Mitsubishi or some other brand instead.

I have been using the small LG window unit for approximately 1 year. It's not an expensive unit and the model number is not visible on the front. No remote was a mistake. I should have gotten a higher end unit. The temperature control is the worst I have ever seen. You will be uncomfortable before it turns on and again before it turns off. Getting up to turn it on and again to turn it off is not for me. I will be taking it out and putting some rounds through it. Moving the thermostat to another location has not helped at all. And due to the safety plug a remote plug will not work. If you are thinking of buying a inexpensive ac unit get one with a remote.

I have had my free standing LG air conditioner for 10 years or more and the only thing that happened was a code to let me know to empty the water out and then I pressed the reset button on the plug which put it back to normal. Have also washed filter every 2 weeks and I live in South Florida so it gets used a lot.

The conditioner cooled for only two summers of moderate use, by the third season it powered up and both the fan and compressor turn on but only non cooled air came out. I tried to access the innards to check for coolant leak but it was impossible to remove the rear case after removing all the screws (14) fastening it closed. While it is a good looking product with convenient controls the fact remains that it has some major inferior internal design problems with the cooling system.

15 years ago, I purchased a 10,000 BTU LG window air conditioner. At the time, they were a top rated a/c maker. It lasted 10 years with only one servicing for refrigerant. When the compressor went out after 10 years, I replaced it with a new 10,000 BTU LG in 2012. In just over two years, it broke - it would not turn on. It was the control panel circuit board and cost almost as much to repair as the purchase price. The authorized LG repair company said that this had become a common problem with many LG appliances. The circuit board was replaced in the Spring of 2015, but a bit over two years later, the same problem has happened again.
LG is not interested in the problem, which is obviously a quality of manufacturing issue. They are insulting, unprofessional and condescending. I did not expect to have to replace this window air conditioner this quickly. With what I have spend between the purchase price and the repair, I would have been better off spending an additional $150 initially on a Freidrich unit. It's amazing how far a company can fall from top rated products to incredibly poor quality. I will never purchase any LG product again and would highly recommend that no one else does, either.

I live in an apartment that my son owns and two of two the rooms each have an LG window air conditioner/heater in it. They are both about two years old and I have 1 of those years enjoyed them perfectly. Last week 1 of them stopped working so I needed a repairmen whom promptly came (within two days). I live in southwest Florida. The repairmen was from LG and was very professional and courteous and provided great work.
My problem happened when I was told that the reason my unit stopped working was because of a piece of Styrofoam that came loose from around one of the coils that apparently is in place for transportation of the unit but does not get removed because the installers don't even know it is in place so the piece of Styrofoam came loose and blocked the fan and hence the problem. That cost me a services call of 192.60 dollars. I do keep the unit clean. I take the screen out once a month and wash it. I ask is that not a problem that I (the consumer) should pay so dearly?

My experience with LG (Lucky Goldstar) products has been consistently poor. Their air conditioners vibrate and are noisy. I also purchased a Goldstar dehumidifier that had to be tossed because the membrane panel went bad. When I was on vacation in Mexico, the room had an LG wall unit that, big surprise, vibrated and made different noises! Is it so hard to manufacture an air conditioning unit that runs quietly? I would avoid purchasing any products from this company as they are of a consistently inferior nature. LG is quite the contrast to Samsung, another Korean corporation that makes high quality, durable products.

Worst experience when I bought the LG Portable AC Model 1111WXRY1 from local Home Depot on 04/02/2012. Just one week before completing one year, the cooling stopped. I called LG Customer Service on 03/27/2013 when the unit was well within one year warranty. I was given name and number of a Technician. The technician came and measured the outflow air temperature and suggested that either Compressor is bad or Freon is out. I followed up with LG after few days on 04/01/2013 and I was told they have not heard anything from technician. Upon my calling Technician, I was told that he cannot fix the AC.
I talked to customer Service again on 04/07/2013 and gave all my information again and the Rep gave me same technician number despite my telling her that they are not ready to do repair work. Thereafter, I called twice on 04/09/2013 and my phone was disconnected. So, I went to the Home Depot from where I bought this unit. The manager at Home Depot was kind enough to call the LG Customer service on my behalf. He spoke to the Representative who promised that the technician will call next day and issue will be resolved. Nobody called me next day. When I called technician, I was told, not to call him again. Reluctantly, this piece is lying in my garage. I have all dates and time and the person who I speak to are available. I could not give my review earlier due to some family issues.

I purchased the portable A/C unit LP0814WNR from Lowe's this summer to cool one room that is not connected to central A/C. After 4 weeks the fuse got tripped and after that the A/C did not start working anymore. The error code E1 came up and the manual that clearly states "LG" asks to call the customer service with an LG customer number. My first call to them resulted in confusion as they were not familiar with the differences between the model, type and serial number. The first person I talked to told me that my request to repair was forwarded and I would receive a call shortly. After three days nothing happened and I called the service center again and was told a repair was scheduled for in about 10 days and I was given a phone number. The end of the story was that after he asked for me to take a picture of the A/C and send it he stated that he would not come because the machine did not say "LG" on it. The fact that Aeon is an LG product did not change his mind.
The call center was surprised to learn that this "service center" was not working out and suggested somebody else who is not repairing portable A/C though they repair other LG products. I got three other numbers from "service centers" and was told to start calling them at 9 am next day. I ended up calling Lowe's where I had purchased the machine and because I bought it less than 30 days ago I was able to return it for a full refund. I would have liked to get it repaired but this was not working out. Everybody at the service center (which is located in the Philippines) was very friendly and tried their best but they are not familiar with those "service centers" in the USA, which are basically contractors or other businesses that repair LG products. The Aeon product webpage also has a customer phone number but they do not even pick up and once I was waiting for more than 5 minutes the call got disconnected. I will not buy a LG product again.

So brought back to Home Depot in June before the warranty expired and they exchange it for another one 12,000 btu. I finished talking to a tech from LG because the 2nd one is doing the same as the first one did. They will not warranty the 2nd one. Only on the first which the warranty has expired. Purchased the LG Model: LP1415SHR Heating and A/C Unit. It leaked, then leaked again, then leaked again - flooding my floor. Had a tech come out three times and each time it (of course) was user error - they will NEVER take responsibility. The first time supposedly it wasn't level. The second time the pan is small and needs to be emptied more often, is all. The third time it was clogged. NOW the Temperature Buttons do not work, so I have an A/C that does not cool below the standard setting of 72 Degrees.
I am home-bound and on disability so this was a huge purchase for me. I sent a couple of the upper management and the board or director's emails and NEVER heard back. I purchased LG Portable Air Conditioner 10,000 BTU 5/15/14 from Home Depot. A couple of months ago I noticed it didn't function well. I was having heart problems, breathing problems. Throwing up everyday, nausea, dizziness as it progressed. Two or three weeks ago I started smelling a men's public restroom smell like pee. I live in my room with my wife due to my dialysis status. I need air. I called Home Depot repair. They connected me to the technician. I described the smell and my symptoms. He told me that he could tell me right now what was wrong. He said it smells like cat pee and it showed E4. It was the Freon added smell when Freon is leaking.
He told me that it would be 12 more days before they could come out but he would work on a better date. I don't have a problem with Home Depot. I took it to Home Depot and they exchanged it for me. I looked up the health problems associated with from Freon leak. They were what I was experiencing in my small room. I had no idea that a Freon leak causes heart problems along with breathing and dizziness problems. I was severely dizzy everyday and fell three or four times, and stumbled everywhere. LG LPO815WNR. I have say that my experience with the LG portable air conditioner that I purchased has been trouble since day 1. I called customer service after I hooked everything up and complained that I was having trouble with a loud banging noise coming from inside the unit (sounded like rocks bouncing around inside). Let them know that the sound was not as bad when unit was set on low. She was unable to answer my questions but did send me an email the next day asking me a few questions. I responded but did not receive a reply.
Called a few day later and got someone that was obviously not in the US. Went over my complaint again. He asked me where my unit was. I told him it was in my beauty shop at my house and he told me straight out that voided my warranty on the unit because I was using it in a business??? I told him that it was at my house, in a small room??? How could it be voided. I knew that I was screwed and that LG had NO intentions of helping me with the problem. PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANY LG PRODUCTS...WORST PEOPLE AND SERVICE. We just bought a brand new split AC one week ago from a LG showroom in Dasarahalli near Jalahalli Cross, Bangalore. Their true service came into light once the booking was done. For shipping the AC to our home, they took 2 days time but before booking, they had mentioned just a few hours after our booking it will be delivered. On repeated calls to the sales person of that showroom, they delivered the AC and initially they had not mentioned any kind of extra charges but once the delivery was done, all the extra charges were told, which is absolutely ridiculous.
Now, for the installation they do not have technicians and there is only one person who is always busy with phone calls more than his work and never responds to the calls. It's been more than a week and yet the AC is still to be installed. The LG showroom sales people are least bothered about this even after we calling them up continuously. Everyday they give us lame reasons or provide us with contact number of people (according to them the higher authority of LG - which I believe they are bluffing) who are even more careless, arrogant individuals and fit for nothing.
LG's own representatives are stating that our service is like this only and we can't do anything. How cheap is that. Now, they are telling us to find someone from Quikr and get it installed by ourselves and they pay the amount to us. Cheap, very cheap. "LG - Life's Good". I purchased an LG window air conditioner LW8015ER in May 2015. By August 2015 the control panel on/off switch was not working properly and was hard to press on and off. I put in a repair request and they entered it in the system. First the confirmation came over by email that it was a Microwave that I was asking for repairs. I called them and told them it was not. They had the model number and the SSN of the unit and they supposedly fixed it. Wells appliance came to look at the unit, when they arrived, the technician said they had me down for a microwave but he said clearly they had the wrong information because the numbers matched the air conditioner.
Wells put called in a replacement part for the control panel. Weeks later I called and they had to put the call in again because it got lost. Weeks later the part finally comes in and the tech comes to put in the part. He can't figure out how to put it in, makes a few calls after trying and cuts himself in the meantime. Runs the unit and it sounds awful. Much, much worse than it ever ran. He said he was going to call in to get the unit replaced. From here it goes downhill.
I have made several calls to Wells and LG, they both tell me to talk to the other and I get the runaround. Here it is February 1, 2016 and I made another call to LG, they are doing nothing about this problem, they see no request from the tech to have this replaced, they want to send Wells back out. NO WAY! Both companies should be ashamed of themselves for this poor treatment they call "Customer Service". I have many LG Products and this will be the last one I buy if this is how they treat their customers. Seems like they are waiting for the warranty to run out so they don't have to repair or replace this poorly made product. They are now looking for a different service company to come out to look at the unit. They told me it will take 5 to 10 business days until I hear back. This is what they always tell me and I never hear back from them. Do not buy this product. If it breaks you will never get it fixed.

Attempted many times to obtain a refund for this defective product. BBB has been involved also (to assist with getting a response from LG). I could go on and on...
Point here is, this product needs to be removed from sale - period. This is a defective product. It shuts off the compressor - leaving you with No Cooling... When it functioned, the heat from the exhaust tube alone, defeats the cooling. Additionally: Air-Conditioner pulls cool room air through the unit and out the exhaust tube, not efficient use of electricity, or a ideal cooling method. This unit needs to be taken off the market. Removed the unit from the window, stored it in our garage, and then ceased to answer our phone calls. After multiple phone calls to LG customer service, they denied authorization to return the unit. They said the part had already been ordered (?), and then refused to answer where they were located, or where the part was being shipped from/to. They also refused to tell us how long this process would take.
In the meantime, we're without an air conditioner in the hottest part of summer. Don't guess we'll need one 'round Christmas, which is about when I expect LG to make good--although I could be wrong. Ease of use is excellent, but alas, the product itself is illogical in that it produces as much heat inside as it tries to cool, thus recycling the heat it produces. Behaves like an elaborate fan with many different controls so that it gives the impression it works as an air conditioner (which it really isn't). Sad, because for elders who cannot lift window A/C's, no lifting is technically required to install it. But lifting is required to empty it if water condenses in the bottom (as it claims to). Too new to collect any on any of the 3 machines purchased, except 1 which gave error message as FL (full), after it rattled, and shut down, repeatedly! So, very confusing machine, as it operates like no other window A/C ever owned... potential? But no cigar! Not cheap, but not expensive for Boston summers... recommended for Southern U.S. Weather? From being on the phone with idiots who don't speak English until you have a headache of all headaches although you have refrained from banging your head. And you WILL want to bang your head. I am trying to save you from potential heat stroke.
We purchased one last summer at Home Depot in mid-June and the compressor went out mid-August. They sent a technician and we told him, it's the compressor. He ordered another part. Came back a week later and the brain box he'd ordered, surprise! Didn't fix the problem. After talking to "supervisors" in their service department who said it was our breaker box he left without fixing it. So we spent the money to replace breakers we KNEW were not defective but had to be replaced before they would return.
After suffering through an Alabama winter which those locally know does require a/c from time to time to be comfortable as we often have a week of unseasonable weather thrown at us... They finally sent a technician back in May. (I requested the service call in MARCH as my cousin from across the country was visiting in April). At the May service call (the 3rd ) the first "supervisors" at 1-800-we-no-speak-English kept insisting to the technician on site that it was our breaker box (again) but the technician, God love him, pushed it and got another "supervisor" to listen to the compressor shut off over the phone and FINALLY they agreed it was the compressor. So they replaced it.
Here it is July and the compressor is out again. This is our forecast: Heat Advisory Statement as of 3:10 AM CDT on July 21, 2015. I have purchased an LG refrigerator, which lasted less than 2 years and a few years later an LG 1400 but portable a/c unit. I did not purchase the extended warranty with the refrigerator, so I was SOL. When I purchased the a/c, it started leaking (all over my wood floors) within 2 weeks of using it. I called LG, they finally sent a repair person, that was located over an hour away from where I live. I took the day off to be home, when the repairman got here, he told me he had never worked on one of these portable a/c units. But he gave it a shot.
He was here for 2 hours, said it was fixed, something about the float switch not working, said it was fixed and left. I WAS grateful, it was during a week-long heatwave. So, after he left I turned it back on, and within 20 min it was leaking all over my wood floors again. I called LG again, and they said that they would replace it. It came 3 days later. This is now the unit I have, it worked last summer, but again, it is now leaking all over the wood floors. I have never had an LG appliance product that has performed as it should or as it says it will. And they were both very expensive, with nice features. It's a shame. I feel LG should stick to their electronics and stay the ** out of appliances. I know, I will NEVER BUY another one of their appliances.

I purchased 3 window units from Home Depot. The 2 ton 220 unit which was installed by a cert. AC man. I did not have a 220 plug so he wired it into my old central ac unit's electric box. The unit gave me problems right away with freezing up, then the plastic fan broke. The ac man did not have this replacement part. I paid over $500 for this unit for one summer use. THEN in my dumbness, I went to Home Depot and bought another one. Same thing with the freezing up. Had checked by 2 ac men and they just said LG were poor quality and they see it a lot with them. So another unit that didn't even last the summer. The 2 smaller ones I purchased were 8,000 but they lasted 2 seasons but would still freeze and spit ice when it rained. Yes every time it rains the smaller ones spit water then ice.
So I will NEVER EVER buy ANYTHING made with LG name on it. I wasted so much money. I work damn hard for my money to just throw away like that. LG would not warrant the large units due to being wired into an a/c breaker box. It was supposed to just plug in the wall. Yeah right! How many homes are equipped with 220 wiring except for clothes dryers? It was a perfectly good install and very safely done by professionals. DON'T BUY LG ANYTHING!!!

LG customer service arranged for the 3rd party technician to repair the A/C unit.
The technician was set to repair, and then asked for the authorization number I had been provided by LG customer service. The senior advisor at customer service had never provided an authorization number. I advised the tech that LG arranged for the service call. He checked his notes and confirmed that LG Corporate had in fact arranged for the service call....but, nonetheless, he still needed an authorization # (which I was not provided).
When I called back LG they gave me the runaround for about 1-hour transferring calls, on hold, etc... The supervisors whom I spoke to where now nasty, and horrible. An air conditioner that will not cool when it is hot outside. Well the guy was correct. When the outside temperature dropped outside to 78 degrees the unit quit shutting down and stayed on. If you live where it is going to be above 80 degrees, I would recommend you stay away from LG air conditioners. The relay is on the main circuit board. The technician, along with replacing necessary parts, cleaned the inside by removing the air conditioner and hosing the inside completely with WELL WATER!!
Now, in March 2015 I'm in need of repairs because it's not cooling. LG dispatches their own LG technician who tells me my warranty has been voided because the repairs are extensive. It seems my air conditioner has rusted severely. The repair man stated that he "never seen an air conditioner rust like this". I proceeded to tell him that it's possible that the well water that the previous technician from Appliances Services sprayed it with cause the corrosion.
I am not well, living with a dog in the beginning of a Hot Florida summer with No Air Conditioner and I'm being told that the warranty has been voided due to rust. This is so very unfair to treat their customers this way. I cannot afford to pay for repairs, let alone buy a new air conditioner. If you are the least bit mechanically inclined you could do the same. All the wiring is color coded and the instructions are very easy to understand. Basically hook the wire labeled #1 to the connection labeled #1 on the unit and so forth. The only problem I have had with my unit is that I had a hard time getting the freon connections tight enough so they didn't leak. Once I accomplished that, my unit has ran like a champ. I live in Arizona where air conditioning is a must and I have been extremely satisfied with my LG Mini Split. I saw a post that someone said the LG was loud. I was told that a replacement remote would be sent and was given the names of two service companies that supposedly serviced my area. Well, neither company would travel to my location.
Called the Warranty line back and they said someone from another dept would contact me in 3-5 business days. On Aug 4, still not hearing anything, I called back and after much discussions finally convinced the rep to let me speak with their supervisor. The supervisor indicated that the initial rep had sent the request to the other department incorrectly and that he would fix that. In Sept 2013, I bought an LG through-the-wall unit. They are supposed to be sturdy and last for years, are sealed into the wall in a metal sleeve. I used it a month or so, then it was covered for winter. Come Spring, I used it a few weeks and mid-June, it started making a loud clunking noise and stopped working. I was shocked. Called LG and the woman to my information, said I'd be getting an email and call to schedule service. A few days later, no call, no email. So I called again. This woman gave me an appointment, so there was progress. The Tech came and inspected the unit, said that fan was totally broken off, he seemed surprised it was so defective. He had no idea how to fix it, didn't understand it was sealed in the wall, so he called the office and sent pictures/video. They told him it is the "customer's responsibility" to "make the unit accessible" for repair. They don't replace, only repair, regardless of the level of damage.
For all I know other parts will fall off, or the bouncing fan damaged other parts inside - but they obviously don't care. I had to call the installers who agreed to come an hour before the tech is scheduled to come and remove it from inside the wall and put it on my floor while I cover the huge hole in the wall and wait for the tech, who will hopefully fix it while it's on my floor, then will have to test it while it's on my floor, and after it is fixed the installers will have to come and put it back in the wall and get it sealed up. It would have been easier on everyone to just put in a new unit. It shouldn't have died in 9 months with little use and who knows what's going on in there now. They clearly want the cheapest way out for themselves and don't care about customer satisfaction or safety. Shame on them. I will never buy another LG product of any kind and will instruct everyone I know to do the same.

I called a 3rd party repair company (the installer was not around to call) and was advised that the fan and the motor may need replacing. They then contacted LG and was advised that yes this was a KNOWN issue. You will need to replace the motor and the fan blade for $600 plus taxes.
I then proceeded to contact LG myself and after 8 different transfers I ended up with the supervisor of customer service who proceeded to tell me that this was not a known defect and that I needed to pay to get it replaced. Also, the warranty was good for 1 year (useless). She then proceeded to tell me that "well at least it's worked for this long". So basically I should be happy that a HOME AIR CONDITIONER UNIT lasts 2 years.... this apparently equates to the price of the damn unit. Poor customer service. I bought an LG from eComfort. Unit arrived with a dink. Argued, got nowhere. That was eComfort. About 6 months later, unit has error code, stopped cooling, so I called technician. LG has rudely told me I should have never have bought the unit in the first place. According to LG I should have not been able to buy the unit in the first place and never installed. So no warranty.
Needles to say I will never ever ever buy an LG anything. I am angry, very angry. HVAC people are not the gods of the world. I have a very good a/c knowledge. I refuse to pay them super dollars. To conclude I downloaded the error code page and I think it's the indoor thermistor. Waiting to get part. In the a/c world warranty is a word that's becoming extinct. And as far as Trane is concerned, the same. Never ever buy. Yes they also have warranty as long as you call their guy and expensive dollars.

Purchased the largest 110v LG Window Air Conditioner at Home Depot on January 9th 2013. On May 26th the Unit started freezing up. Contacted LG, it took 16 days to get a technician out to diagnose, then 4 days to wait for a new Condenser. 2 weeks later the unit froze up again. Called LG whom sent out the same Technician the next day and he stated it was low on refrigerant. This is a sealed unit that was ice cold on the day of the first repair, but he stated it was not fully charged, so he charged it. Three weeks later the unit froze again. LG stated they would send the same Technician the next day for a third attempt, and that if it could not be resolved they would then replace the unit. I was told the appointment time would be between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. but after having left work early my wife waited there all day for nothing. The technician never called or showed.
At 6:05 p.m. I called LG who stated not to worry he would be there some time that night. At 8:15 he showed up. I was there for this visit. I am a 30 year GM Technician and hold both ASE, Robin Aire, IMACA and GM A/C certifications. I watched the technician hook a gauge to the unit and the readings with the unit on was 60psi on the low side. They do not use a high side. The needle never waivered, yet the evaporator was frozen as were the lines leading toward the compressor. He claimed that the evaporator must be clogged. I replied it had been professionally cleaned the first time it froze up in May even though it was only 5 months old. He was adamant the unit could not breathe, so we took the unit outside and with a flashlight removed the evaporator and flushed the unit with a hose and found no debris, no mold, no dirt, nothing restricting the cooling fins. The water was clear and went straight through front to back and top to bottom. This stumped and confused the technician who claimed he did not know what was wrong.
We reinstalled the unit and turned it back on and watched it start to freeze again the exact same way. I stated that where the freeze point ended had to be the point of an internal restriction debris, etc. and he stated that it must be a free floating internal restriction but had no idea how to fix it. So he wrote a note saying the system was fully charged and cleaned and he found nothing wrong. I was left with an A/C unit that still does not cool and freezes up. I called LG today, they had previously told me that after three repair attempts they would replace the unit. However today, they stated they would send a different technician who could give a different opinion, then they would consider replacing the unit. I was extremely upset and was beside myself with anger.
First I was lied to about the time of the appointment, then I was lied to about third time repair attempt and they would replace my unit. Now I am expected to lose more time at work to be there for another repair attempt when they have failed in the last three to make a repair. There must be another way to resolve this short of buying another unit. I have a three year replacement plan with Home Depot but it does not start until after the year is up and that is still 4 months away, and in the heat of Florida I will not last 4 months with out A/C. This is unacceptable and should not be the way a company treats their customers. I will never buy another LG product and will pursue this until I get some type of resolution, I am just not sure what or when that may be.

2 years ago, we bought an LG floor standing air conditioner for our elderly parents. It worked well for exactly one year. After taking it to a local authorized repair service we were told the compressor needed replacing - they don't do that kind of repair. After many, many phone calls to LG, we were fortunate enough to find the compressor was under a 5-year warranty. LG shipped us a new unit and picked up the broken one. Just before that incident, we purchased a second for our home. It also worked very well for exactly one year. The compressor stopped working. Now we find out that LG discontinued the warranty on that compressor. We're one month past the one-year warranty period. This COULD be a good product but it's not. LG is very difficult to deal with. I recommend NOT buying this product!

I bought this LG Air Conditioner model LP1111WXRY1 unit in July of 2011. The cost was just over $400.00. This unit never got cold. I would set it 63 degrees and would not get even remotely cool. My room size is 400 square feet; this is 11000 BTUs more than enough. I contacted LG service and was told it was now out of warranty, but if the compressor was at fault, they would cover it, and gave the phone number to an authorized service provider.
I contacted the service provider, who promptly told me it would cost over $200.00 for the repair, but there would be no charge for the compressor and did not even have the correct Freon (R410A) available to do the repair and would have to order it. I would be better off if I re-contacted LG and tried to get a discount on the new model. I re-contacted LG, who then said it did not qualify for a discount or extended warranty, and it was my prerogative to go elsewhere for repair or to purchase a new unit from them or someone else, as they all have the same fees.
I had one season of poor AC usage from a box that wasn't working right from the beginning. Due to the type of customer service LG provides, it will definitely not be them for any future appliances! LG, you lost a valuable customer!

I purchased an LG model LW1212HR window a/c unit rated to cool more than 500 sq. feet. If I set temp on 63 degrees and place a high speed fan in front of the unit, it will bring the temp down to 93 degrees. Outside ambient is high, at 101 degrees, but my old, worn-out Kenmore (rated much lower) cooled fine until it lost its freon. I liked the specs on your unit because it offered heat, which I needed, but the fan speeds are totally inadequate and compressor never shuts off. By my measurements, it cools an area 24 inches wide and 8 inches deep immediately in front of the air outlet.
I've had the unit reviewed by an a/c expert and he says the unit just isn't able to perform, being too small. I paid an outrageous price for a useless device ($496.87) and I require and deserve better equipment. I do not want to keep this thing. I need a much more robust unit. I'm asking for a full refund so I can have a professional find me a better replacement for my old Kenmore. I bought this LG unit on August 3, four days ago and have already signed the warranty card back to you. Please respond soonest. LG voided warranty based on inaccurate assessment of install - Late last year, I bought and installed an LG LP0910WNR freestanding, portable air condition unit from Home Depot. After failing to cool the room, I called LG who sent their repairman William to inspect the unit. He stated that the unit was installed incorrectly due to obstruction caused by a screen on the window and that it wasn't plugged into its own circuit. He also claimed that many people misunderstood the installation instructions and even recounted a call he had made where the exhaust hose was stretched across the room to be vented outside and that was not how it was supposed to be done. Note that at no time during his visit did he state that any of what I had done voided any kind of warranty.
Immediately, I had my suspicions about the product: Why is the hose as long as it is if the unit can't operate without breaking with it fully stretched? Obviously, it wasn't only me that had a misunderstanding about the installation of the unit and that the instructions were not clear. Of the hose, the manual states "Do not block the air inlet or outlet of the air conditioner. Reduced air flow will result in poor performance and could damage the unit". As a layman, my understanding of "reduced air flow" did not really include a screen. In fact, in the hose itself at the exhaust end, there is a screen included with the unit.
William lamented that he didn't know why LG marketed the unit as a consumer unit when it really takes a professional to install it, specifically because he had to be called out to correct what he perceived to be LG's marketing failure. In fact, marketing for the unit at different electronic retailers on the web state, "Not really an installation kind of person? Don't worry. Most of us aren't. That's why we make portable air conditioners". William mentioned that really the unit needed to be vented to the outside via a hole in the wall and not through the window, even though the instruction manual devotes at least six pages to proper window installation.
Regardless, I fixed the noted install issues: I plugged the unit into its own circuit, I removed the screen and installed the hose with no obstruction to the outside. Although the hose wasn't "excessively" stretched before, I made sure that it traveled no more than 4-5 feet until terminating at the window. The unit itself stands next to the window and its intakes are unobstructed. I insulated the hose with temperature resistant black foil used normally in photography shoots where the lights get hot enough to light paper on fire to prevent exhaust heat leakage into the room. There are many people in my household as well as visitors that can verify that I took these steps.
After doing so, indeed the unit lasted through the summer and easily kept the room cool. However, near the end of the summer (maybe 2 or 3 months or so afterwards), the compressor broke. I called LG and they sent a repairman (not William) to look at the unit. They confirmed the unit was broken while it was installed in its previously operational configuration. At no time during the visit did the repairman mention anything about an incorrect install of the unit. In fact, the repairman ordered a part so that he could install it on an subsequent visit. On the day of the repair, my dad had emergency health issues and I had to cancel the repair visit. Once his health issues had been addressed, it was winter, so I saw no need to continue repair of the unit and did not pursue it again until April of 2012.
In the meantime, since the unit was not functioning, I removed the hose from my window (to ensure no heat leaked out of the window in the winter) and replaced the screen. This April, LG again sent a repairman at my request after explaining my dad's health issues. The repairman who showed up was William, the original LG repairman. William informed me that he could not honor the warranty because the air conditioner was not installed correctly and attributed the failure of the unit's compressor to this mis-installation. Even after explaining that the screen was replaced and the hose taken down after the unit broke and became useless, he refused to honor the warranty citing that he had originally annotated a mis-installation from his first visit.
Note, Again, William did not mention anything about a voided warranty on the unit on his first visit. LG markets the unit as consumer/layman-friendly. William mentioned that many people installed it incorrectly, at least initially. LG technical support and a second visiting repairman fully intended to repair the unit, going as far as ordering a part for it and at no time did LG or that second repairman mention a voided warranty after personal inspection of the unit. On his second visit, William initially based his judgement on the configuration of the unit after I had uninstalled it for the winter. He then changed his story referring to his annotations of the original mis-installation. To paraphrase: "If I had seen the window without the screen or the hose piped through a hole in the wall, it would have been a different story".
This leads me to these conclusions: LG implied through the packaging on the box and marketing on the internet that its LP0910WNR can be easily installed by an average layman consumer, although in actuality for it to operate properly, a professional with air conditioning expertise is required. LG failed to honor repair of the unit on grounds that are tenuous at best. LG has created a product and repair situation that is unfair to the consumer.

Despite repeated requests and complains to the dealer and service centre to replace the AC which was under warranty, nothing materialized. Thrice or four times they sent a service centre executive saying my problem will be solved and there is no need to replace the entire unit because the problem remains the same.
After getting serviced, it works for a few days but the problem remains the same due to the interior walls are getting damped and there is flurry of water drops on the bed and the longer we keep the AC on, the water drops get faster and we have to switch off the AC and then again, we switch it on later for some time and this has to be done again.
Now, I have decided not to make any complaint to the dealer or the service centre as I know it's going to be of no use. If I don't get the entire unit changed in a week, I will take some serious measures to get rid of this problem.
Regular flow of water drops on the wall are making it damp. The sleeping bed gets wetter, damaging the mattress and the wooden part swells up damaging the wood. Due to the dampness in the walls, we have to get the walls painted regularly or else it spoils the show of the room. The biggest of all problems is the repeated on/off of the machine to avoid water drops on the bed especially in the night causing a lot of harassment.

Two years ago, I purchased an LG Air conditioner from Home Depot. It is a model LWH08000RY6 and was to be used as a bedroom A/C unit. We placed it in a window in the bedroom and it was the worst thing I have ever heard. It rattles and bangs when the compressor starts and is very loud. It cycles on and off almost constantly, so the noise goes on and on. We moved it to another window, but the results were the same. We then moved it to another room, but got the same results. I called for warranty service and a technician came to my home to look at the machine. He said that there was nothing wrong with the machine.
We again placed it in a bedroom and it keeps me up all night shaking the walls, the window etc. We have a friend who also bought the same A/C unit and complains about the noise. After the second year of this, we placed it in the window for the 2010 season. It is louder than ever with its banging and vibrations. Since the initial visit by the technician was at the end of the first season of use (approximately 2.5 months), I did not figure that calling would get me any results. I have other A/C units in my home. None are LG and they are quiet and efficient and work fine.
Be assured that I will never buy any LG product in the future. I don't care what kind of rating they get or how reasonable the price. This product has taught me a valuable lesson, stick with the brands you know and have confidence in. That surely is not LG. I am sure the unit is defective in some way, but they will never own up to that. So I spent the money to fix the problem.
After suffering through the noise for the past three weeks (since A/C unit was again placed in the window), we decided to buy a new A/C unit for the bedroom. I have a GE unit which is quiet and works fine. The unit is 4 or 5 years old. So today, I purchased a GE A/C unit for a total cost of $190.00. We brought the unit home and placed it in the window. It is cooling the room fine, and you cannot even tell it is on. It does not vibrate, bang or shake the wall. This proves to me that there is something wrong with the machine. I would not even give it away, let alone consider trying to sell it.

When you call on the phone, you cannot understand the person you are talking to. We are currently waiting for a technician to come out and look at our air conditioner again. It is still under warranty and am hoping we do not have a problem as I have no intentions of paying for any labor or parts!

Actually, we purchased an AC at Faiz & Co on 21st April 2010. Later, installation was fitted on 23rd of April but the fitted AC fails to work. They told that they send the persons to service the AC. Until now, no response was given to us. We have made a call to LG customer service more than 50 times but no actions ever took place.

Last week, I had requested for servicing ( washing & cleaning) of 4 Split A/Cs installed at my home before using these units this summer. The units were purchased in 2008. I was told that due to work load, it will take two to three days to undertake the work. I agreed to this but am disappointed that even after the passage of six days the work has not been undertaken. I had bought LG units as I thought that Customer support will be good. Please ensure that the servicing is done on 29/3/10. I tried to lodge complaint on LG Pakistan website but instead of "Submit" button I get "Browse" which leads to nowhere.

Purchased a window unit air conditioner/heater model LWHD7000HRY7 (7000 btu) from home depot to be installed in new construction. Room to be conditioned is 200 sq ft with standard height ceiling. No windows, one door and entire room is insulated with the best insulation you can use, closed cell spray foam insulation in ceiling and walls. The heater was first used this fall. This unit will not heat the room. Never reaches 70 degrees, never cycles off and the air emitted from the discharge is barely warm as discerned by the touch. LG's authorized warranty representative AusTech appliance says that is as good as they operate. There is supposedly nothing wrong with a heater that doesn't heat. This unit is worthless.

I purchased one 1.5 ton split air conditioner from Sri Sai Enterprises through CSD canteen on 28/04/2009. Suddenly, from the first week of this month (August), the A/C is not working. I made a complaint to 1-800-180-9999. I got an advice to contact Mr. **, mobile number **. When I contacted him, he came on the next day and told me that the condenser is to be changed. After that, he did not turn up to my house. Even though I made repeated complaint to the above said numbers (including to Mr. **, mobile number **), my A/C is not yet (30/08/2009, 13:00 hours) repaired or even bothered to make an attempt to repair.
I am unable to repair it on my own since the product comes under warranty. Whenever I try to contact Mr. **, his mobile is switched off. Now I am fed up with your service and feel not to purchase any LG products in future. This type of poor, irresponsible service is to be brought to the knowledge of CSD officials and the public. I do not know if this type of problem comes only from me or a general problem. However, you are requested to look in to it seriously. Thank you.
