Updated on 03/06/2024: Just wanted to update my last review… Contacted the BBB. They contacted LG, we went back and forth with wrong departments and wrong numbers for a couple weeks when we tried to contact them. Finally got a hold of the “presidential“ offices, they were supposed to have someone come and look at our units and then they couldn’t get anyone. Here we are 2 months later and they still don’t work.. Did I mention I have 6 units that don’t work. Got my last message from the BBB that they can do no more. Then LG messages me and said they can get no one to fix them, we are on our own. Nice of them… So I froze for 2+months and we are out over $16,000 now.
The only other thing I can do is take the HVAC company that has been trying to work with us, fixing them to small claims court and sue them for our money back and I don’t even know if that will do anything. And yes this is def a real person in the middle of a Pennsylvania winter… Thanks for screwing the middle class! I will never buy any LG product again!
Original Review: We have had mini splits in our house… 6 heads… 2 separate units and have had nothing but problems $15,000+ later! The service techs are always at our house we have had them for 2 yrs and have replaced compressors, control panels, circuit boards you name it. Freon every so many months… Now you would though know they are leaking you would fix the leaks right? Nope! We are in Pa and I’m tired of over $400 electric bills and freezing my butt off! I’ve asked them to just replace them because obviously there is a problem but no they keep coming back and then we get charged $100’s for Freon and labor charges. This is ridiculous. I can’t believe no one stands behind their products these days! Better business bureau is my next step because I’ve had it. We are always sick because sometimes it’s over 80 degrees and the Other times we wake up in the morning and it’s below 50 and freezing!

LG has the worst customer service ever!! We will never buy another LG appliance again. I’ve spent well over the cost of a new unit of my time in dealing with this garbage and it’s still NOT resolved!!! The new A/C unit has still not been sent out. More promises every day and still NOTHING! Spend your money on another brand!!!
Our A/C went out in our house over a month ago. Tech went out and repaired it (took one week for this to happen) and it was broken again within 48 hours. He came back out and said it needed a complete new unit. (This was another week.) We didn’t receive a new unit for another week because they didn’t order it right away. Received new unit on the 14th - which was delivered on the 14th - in the rain. No one called beforehand like they said they would - so it sat outside in the rain all day. Technicians don’t install the new units - when my husband went to put it in - the new unit was damaged.
I have called/talked on chat EVERY day since then and no one has been able to help me - everyone says they will escalate it and nothing happens - it’s all false promises and lies. For over a week of me calling/chatting - no one ever said we need you to cut the serial number plate off of the unit and send us that picture - it wasn’t until I asked did someone finally say yes that’s what we’re waiting on!!!

I order a 10000 BTU and 12000 and the latter arrived defective. Because I ordered through Amazon they wouldn't help but it took at least 6 phone calls to receive that answer. A friend also ordered, but directly- the worst service for her issue as well. Abysmal customer service. Also when you clean the filter light doesn't always turn off, random. Worked on one AC not the other. I followed directions. I gave a 2 because it is very quiet. I regret not ordering a Freylingson AC which was recommended. I would strongly not recommend given the other options. Quality is cheap plastic.

We had an LG distributor/service provider install a commercial HVAC system in a new office bldg we were building in Draper. This was not a good experience. 1. The installation took 3 times longer than promised. 2. There has been no service or warranty follow-up. We've had to hire another HVAC service provider to get the system working properly. We spent over $1M for this system and are still trying to get it to function properly. It's been very disappointing and expensive.

System works right for a few days then doesn't. Customer service won't talk to homeowners, only to installers. My installer says he's lucky to get someone from LG on the phone and when they do answer they can't answer his questions. Even on the days it works "right" it can't keep my Maryland home warm.

Our HVAC installers talked us into the LG VRF technology when we were renovating our historical home. 6 units in all the ceilings, one condensor outside. It never worked 100% and failed every couple of weeks. The phone app to operate them was like something out of a satire. We had to rip out the entire system 18 months later. The installers were inept but they were supervised by LG's factory rep. We could not trust them to fix it, they tried in over 30 visits to the house. I could not even get through to LG to get a factory warranty replacement. This is Houston, in summer, with water pouring from our new ceilings, and I spent DAYS just trying to get in contact with anyone who could honor their warranty directly, having severed ties with the installers.
We were desperate, our home was being damaged, and LG *would not help us*. We ended up ripping it out ourselves, patching all the ceilings, and installing a new conventional system. We lost many thousands of dollars because this technology is not adequately supported in Texas. Run a mile from it, and never look back.
To clarify: In Houston, the most air-conditioned city in the country, LG had no factory rep who would come to our residential home to check the system for a factory warranty replacement. Their Austin factory rep said it was laughable, but he was not allowed to travel to Houston. We had an easy legal case against LG and the installers but we needed to sell our home quickly, so had to resolve it fast ourselves.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT buy anything from LG unless you want to end up in tears. I have purchased an expensive heat pump, 'top of the line', that didn't work properly from the get-go. In the first 6 months, 6 repairs and none resolved the situation. The installer is trying to resolve it and so am I by calling LG and BBB - the calls are not proceeded, and the issue not resolved. The head of their technical service, Hassan **, denies replacement as it 'works now'. Reality is that it works for a few hours and then the compressor becomes so loud that the neighbours are complaining.
LG makes everyone look bad, the customer service calls me 'ma'am' so this adds to the insult. While I spoke to someone in ‘executive office Ismalea, a man, this person was so abusive and all the time talking over me. ‘Waiting for a resolution’ now for 5 months. And kept interrupting me and talking about me. Add misogyny to my list of complaints. I now have to go to the courts to address it.

I am an unfortunate buyer of LG Aircon Systems for my entire house. A total of 7 large ceiling-mounted cassette units. In less than the warranty period, not only were the cooling efficiency poor, the breakdown rates were incredible. I recently changed out half of them to Daikin and am still facing breakdowns for the remaining units. Don't be conned by their lower price and better technology messages. My advice is to pay slightly more for better brands like Daikin, enjoy the coolness and most of all, save yourself the pain and frustration of dealing with the poor performing and constantly malfunctioning LG air-conditioning systems from remote controls to PCB boards etc etc...

I have waited over three months for my order to be filled by LG, I placed my order through an reputable online Dealer. The Dealer was very responsive at first, after the order was filled by LG and I paid in FULL they stopped returning my emails. The order was for a Multi F MAX LGRED System w/ four indoor units. The order was drop shipped by LG but I have not received ANY information from LG, all I have is a product shipped confirmation from the Dealer. So this sale is now in the hands of LG and I have no idea where my product is? Where it shipped from? Or how long I will wait for it? The Holidays approach and that may interfere with accepting any freight without prior arrangement for obvious reasons. I have no idea how to contact LG, or how I would reference my order even if I could contact them.
Customer Care with this Company is ridiculously poor, I spent a bunch of money and I am in the Dark on my end. I can't review the product until I get my hands on it. But I can review the Manufacturer and their complete lack of customer Care and communication. I could have purchased something else, I should have, it would be installed by now and I wouldn't be wasting my time writing this out of sheer frustration with LG.

We purchased an LG window unit on 07/15/2020, on 07/23/2021 the LG window unit stopped cooling. A week just after the year purchase, Wow! LG had one of their own technicians (Mauricicio **) come out which he was not able to diagnose the unit. So he said he would call LG to determine what the next step was. He did say that they would possibly refund us or give us a new unit if too expensive to fix. We corresponded with him for about a month in which he continued to tell us that it was still in the process of getting repaired.
After a month and two weeks I called LG to see what the deal was because the technician was no longer responding to us. So when I called LG, I found out that the technician (Mauricio **) sent in his report the same day he first came out to look at our unit and stated to LG that our unit was fine and that it was working well, so the work order was cancelled!!! What!!! Are you kidding me, this whole month and a half he was lying to us? Terrible technician!
After being on the phone with customer service trying to plead my case to them that the technician was wrong and that my work order should not have been closed he finally said I could schedule him to come out again or wait 5-7 days for another tech to call and schedule an appointment. As much as I didn't want the same tech, I went with him anyways cause I couldn't wait another week for a new tech to come out. So they scheduled a second appointment for 09/16/2021. And what do you know, at 10:03am on 09/16/2021, I received an email stating that the technician (Mauricio **) CANCELLED my appointment!!
So immediately we called LG to see what happened, why Mauricio ** had cancelled the appointment and customer service stated that because he had already came out and diagnosed it and he wasn't going to come out again and for us to get another technician. Truth is he just didn't want to face us cause he knew he was lying and in the wrong!
So we had to schedule for a third party tech to come and give a second opinion. The new tech found the issue, a manufacturer defect and reported it in to LG to see what they would like to do. He called us back stating that LG denied it for repair, replacement and or refund, but that if we wanted to call and plead our case to give them a call, so we did and they stated that they are going to go ahead and repair the unit. So we wait and see if LG will stick to their word. If I can say anything, it is this, LG is a terrible company with one terrible technician that I have experienced first hand. They need to fire him. Don't buy LG products or proceed with caution.

This company will not provide any technical support to non-contractors. Their installation manuals are fuzzy and non specific and they offer little to no troubleshooting information online. I bought a system and when it was installed originally 3 of the 4 cassettes did not work. Due to my remote location there are no HVAC technicians anywhere nearby. Ordered three more cassettes, installed, and two of three worked great. Still have one not working. Do not buy one of these.

We installed 4 x LG Artcool Air-conditioners of various sizes from 9000 to 24000 BTU. The compressors have a 5 year warranty. After 1.5 years the covers were showing signs of rust, and after 3 years, all the covers of the compressors were rusted beyond acceptable norms, to the extent of defacing the look of the property. Air conditioner compressors of other suppliers that have been installed in the immediate vicinity do not have this problem.
I reported this issue in detail to the installer with pictures, who forwarded it to LG. LG's representative "Carol" wrote back a one liner "Unfortunately the covers are not under Warranty". The solution offered was to replace the covers at R5500 per cover. As it seems that LG is happy with this standard of product for an outdoor unit that is not treated with an appropriate paint or cover that can last longer for 3 years, I highly suggest you look at alternative vendors such as Samsung, Nashua, Alliance and Luxaire, that do not seem to have this problem of excessive rusting over a short period of time.

LG plays games that amount to a scam. Executive Services department representatives claim to have no authority to implement solutions that they suggest. Executive Services say they will replace a faulty unit through the Rebate Department, then the Rebate Department denies the payment. The Executive Services Department claims they cannot speak directly with the Rebate Department, nor with the other Executive Services "Supervisors" who have worked on the case. The whole process is an endless loop with one department offering a solution and another department denying the solution, and with them claiming they cannot talk with one another.
This portable air conditioner never worked. Recall service was performed on it and the technician wrote "working according to specs" on the service invoice. The unit still never worked to cool air despite the fan running. All related invoices and documents were submitted to LG Executive Services representatives. Executive Services representative acknowledged that because of the recall service being performed without successful repair, the warranty period should be extended. Executive service said I should buy a replacement unit and submit a rebate claim. When I did as I was instructed, the claim was denied by the Rebate Department. Executive Services resubmitted the claim and it was denied again.
The result is that I have wasted a lot of time with LG's scammy Executive Services department, and I have to pay return shipping costs for the replacement unit that LG refused to pay for. LG's response is that, "We understand and agree with your complaint but "unfortunately" we cannot speak directly between our departments to resolve the issue." LG customer service is a scam. Do not buy their products, they do not stand behind them and will waste your time and money if allowed.

I purchased LG portable a/c, model number LP1017WSR, from Walmart on 07/02/2019. On 05/03/2020, I filed a warranty claim with LG because the unit leaked all over the carpet. Over the last 4 months, I have talked to LG customer service reps 7 times! After a month and 1/2, I finally was referred for a service call. In July, the 1st repair person was sent out and determined two parts needed replacing. The parts were ordered, but one came in damaged and had to be re-ordered. Two weeks later a DIFFERENT repair person came out to replace the ONE part that was received. However, he did not know how to replace the part. He asked to take the a/c with him so he could research how to make the repair.
We finally heard from the FIRST repair person that the unit was ready to return to us. He was supposed to deliver it on August 24, but he didn't show up and we haven't heard from him. But honestly I have NO confidence that this unit has been repaired correctly and I cannot take the chance that it will leak into the carpet again, as it is located in a rental home.
I called LG again on August 11 and explained all of this to the service rep, Amelia. I also stated that I am tired of dealing with this situation, have no confidence in this product or LG in general and I want a refund of the total amount spent on the a/c unit; $349. She assured me she would send my complaint to the Resolution Unit and I would hear something within 4-5 days. She also said she would PERSONALLY keep track of the status of my request and call me back. After hearing nothing AGAIN, I called and talked to Amelia again on August 18. She said the Resolution Unit had not made any progress on my request. I again strongly stated that I want a refund for this unit and they can have it back! She said she would discuss the issue with her supervisor and promised to call me again within 24 hours.
I finally heard back 2 days later and was told that all LG could do is continue to sent repair people out until one of them tell LG that the unit cannot be repaired. That is the only way for me to get a refund. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I will go to every website I can find to promote the truth... DO NOT purchase LG products because they do not stand behind them.

Bought a 3 split airconditioner system Dec'16. Really cold and nice for a few months. Less than a year later, my unit started to rattle really loudly. 4-5 motor changes later, I forced them them to change the whole unit. To their credit, they did that. Then it started rattling again. Changed the motor again. Finally stopped rattling. But then it was no longer as cold as before, and even on low speed it's quite loud compared to others.
3.5 years later. Compressor motor started a loud whine that can be heard through the wall. Extended warranty only included parts. Fair enough. So here's the bill for a unit that still under warranty:
$100 - for the initial appointment to check.$550 - For the 'labour' to repair/replace the 'free under warranty' component.
$80 - to top up gas.
$730.
Wait, there's GST on top of that. So, to repair a compressor under covered under warranty, it's almost $800, or about 32% of the cost price to do so. Cheaply made. Poor quality rubbish. Only good for the start, so I guess you can get that if you're running a temporary construction site for 1-2 years to use and throw away.

In May of 2012 I installed an LG mini-split ductless HVAC system at a cost exceeding $7,000. The system was flawed from the very beginning with water leaks. After 18 months the internal wall units began to whine and had to be replaced, that cost another $2,500. In February of 2020 I reported a no heat situation, which was diagnosed as a refrigerant leak. This is where it gets really bad: I was told by LG Customer Support to contact the original installer, who informed me they no longer support LG products. I contact LG Customer support making them aware of the situation, they gave me the names of three service companies within 25 miles that service LG products.
One number was out of service, one guy said he's on medical leave and cannot help. Only one of the three Companies took the call, but they informed me they do not travel outside their service territory. Again, no luck finding someone to service my LG system. I have extended my search by emailing the LG warranty support organization and have asked for someone from LG to help resolve the matter, that was 3 days ago - no response! At this point I'm facing a replacement of the LG system after spending almost $10,000 on a system that's flawed and non-existent customer support. I've learned my lesson - no more LG drama and pain for me; I'm moving on from this very expensive and frustrating lesson. I hope you've learned something from my painful story. No more LG for me, I don't need the stress, excessive cost and drama that come along with LG.

When I asked her why? She simply could not answer. Really a pitiful attempt to help the customer. Good manufacturers offer advice, LG just wants the sale, they operate under "Buyer Beware" and my advice is to be "beware" when purchasing from LG, if it works great, if it does not, do not expect any help from LG.

I bought an LG Window Unit LW2416HR about 14 months ago. It is a large unit, 23,000 BTU with heat. It lasted 11 months before shutting down constantly with Code 134. That code means excessive heat and pressure according to a local AC technician. I contacted Home Depot about the problem both locally and their Corporate Headquarters. They said after three months I must contact LG directly. After contacting LG and submitting all the required documentation, I was given a case number and told to wait 3-5 days.
After 7-10 days they finally called and said no technician is available in our area. Since the one year warranty had expired with all the delays and waiting, we were told nothing more could be done. We have bought three large LG window unit air conditioners. One lasted four years, one lasted 2 years, and the last one lasted a little over eleven months.
