Bought a 3 split airconditioner system Dec'16. Really cold and nice for a few months. Less than a year later, my unit started to rattle really loudly. 4-5 motor changes later, I forced them them to change the whole unit. To their credit, they did that. Then it started rattling again. Changed the motor again. Finally stopped rattling. But then it was no longer as cold as before, and even on low speed it's quite loud compared to others.
3.5 years later. Compressor motor started a loud whine that can be heard through the wall. Extended warranty only included parts. Fair enough. So here's the bill for a unit that still under warranty:
$100 - for the initial appointment to check.$550 - For the 'labour' to repair/replace the 'free under warranty' component.
$80 - to top up gas.
$730.
Wait, there's GST on top of that. So, to repair a compressor under covered under warranty, it's almost $800, or about 32% of the cost price to do so. Cheaply made. Poor quality rubbish. Only good for the start, so I guess you can get that if you're running a temporary construction site for 1-2 years to use and throw away.

I bought a window LG Dual Inverter 15 months ago. I read many reviews and they were very negative but the "low noise thing" was hard to beat. Yes it is "low noise" at low speed but still worked good for my needs. Now it is freezing in the front coils. I have used the unit less than 6 months as I don't live permanent where it was installed. LG service is non-existent and now the warranty is expired. Also the front grill looks CHEAP in appearance and one or two clips broke during installation. I will never ever buy anything from that brand and much less any appliances from Home Depot.

In May of 2012 I installed an LG mini-split ductless HVAC system at a cost exceeding $7,000. The system was flawed from the very beginning with water leaks. After 18 months the internal wall units began to whine and had to be replaced, that cost another $2,500. In February of 2020 I reported a no heat situation, which was diagnosed as a refrigerant leak. This is where it gets really bad: I was told by LG Customer Support to contact the original installer, who informed me they no longer support LG products. I contact LG Customer support making them aware of the situation, they gave me the names of three service companies within 25 miles that service LG products.
One number was out of service, one guy said he's on medical leave and cannot help. Only one of the three Companies took the call, but they informed me they do not travel outside their service territory. Again, no luck finding someone to service my LG system. I have extended my search by emailing the LG warranty support organization and have asked for someone from LG to help resolve the matter, that was 3 days ago - no response! At this point I'm facing a replacement of the LG system after spending almost $10,000 on a system that's flawed and non-existent customer support. I've learned my lesson - no more LG drama and pain for me; I'm moving on from this very expensive and frustrating lesson. I hope you've learned something from my painful story. No more LG for me, I don't need the stress, excessive cost and drama that come along with LG.

My advice is to not purchase a LG product. The unit did not work. Contacted the LG Customer Service for advice. Was connected to a lady in the Philippines who spoke "OK" English, she had no technical knowledge of A/C units. She referred to a written "protocol", the advice, leave the unit on for 24 to 48 hours. When I asked her why? She simply could not answer. Really a pitiful attempt to help the customer. Good manufacturers offer advice, LG just wants the sale, they operate under "Buyer Beware" and my advice is to be "beware" when purchasing from LG, if it works great, if it does not, do not expect any help from LG.

They have no customer support; their manual is a gibberish translation; all they do is tell you that you have to pay for a service call to get a question answered about the operation of your system. I bought an LG Window Unit LW2416HR about 14 months ago. It is a large unit, 23,000 BTU with heat. It lasted 11 months before shutting down constantly with Code 134. That code means excessive heat and pressure according to a local AC technician. I contacted Home Depot about the problem both locally and their Corporate Headquarters. They said after three months I must contact LG directly. After contacting LG and submitting all the required documentation, I was given a case number and told to wait 3-5 days.
After 7-10 days they finally called and said no technician is available in our area. Since the one year warranty had expired with all the delays and waiting, we were told nothing more could be done. We have bought three large LG window unit air conditioners. One lasted four years, one lasted 2 years, and the last one lasted a little over eleven months. The one that lasted four years also displayed code 134. The second one lasted two years before the fan motor started making a growling sound. The newest one started shutting down and displaying code 134. We followed all operating manual instructions about cleaning filters, shading the unit, etc. Nothing worked. Getting a technician to work on one of these units in a small town or the country is difficult or impossible. LG has a quality control problem with their largest window AC units. Home Depot should stop selling the largest LG window units.

Purchased new thru-the-wall air conditioner and it does not cool. We contacted the wholesaler we bought the unit from (RSC) and their only response was, "You have to call LG technical support." LG was contacted - several automated transfers and extremely long on hold times. They indicated that someone would contact us to schedule a time for repairs. A week later we still haven't received service. Spent another few hours on hold today to finally talk to a human that assured me that someone will contact us within 24 hours for service. We have installed several LG units in past without issues, but after this experience I will have a tough time dealing with the distributor or LG on any future purchases.

In 2010 I had installed a LG duct-free mini split with one larger unit and 2 smaller ones at a cost of $8,000. I went through Home Depot to find the product and installer. Since that time the unit has failed 3 times, costing over $800. Each time the company said the failed part was out of warranty. Recently I spoke to an independent installer who said he had had the most trouble with LG air conditioners. The company was difficult to contact and not available after business hours. He recommended Fujitsu or Mitsubishi as far more reliable products. I am now in the process of replacing the LG with a Fujitsu system.

Customer service reps & executive team rep keep giving me the run around re-approving my proof of purchase so that they can delay replacing my A/C when the compressor is not working properly. The company is not honoring their warranty for this new A/C. Customer service rep actually lied about submitting additional info to the returns authorization dept. and executive team rep stated that she is now starting from scratch. Now I am told I have to wait again for their decision which will take additional time due to the holiday last week which they are catching up from. At this rate maybe they will make some kind of decision once the summer is over. It looks like I will have to buy another A/C which will definitely not be an LG.

I turned it on about a month ago and it’s not working. I have spoken to every person in India explaining it’s still under warranty. I have sent too many pictures to their website as you have to, to send a message. I have a piece of junk AC that’s worthless. If I can find a US address my next step is small claims court. Either fix it or replace it. AC’s this day in age should last close to ten years, not 6 months.

LG 12,000 BTU window unit model # LW1216ER. Purchased over 3 years ago. Suddenly the compressor is continuing to run after completely powered down. Never cycles. Resorted to utilizing the "tester button" on cord plug in order to kill the compressor. Thought it was an isolated incident but upon contacting LG via chat the assistant failed to understand the situation, suggesting that the unit was located too close to a heat source and instructed me to try the econ mode which in no way corrects the problem.
After reading through the user reviews on the LG website I found that this is a widespread issue and LG refuses to acknowledge claiming they simply don't understand the problem. This is a confirmed fire hazard and feel that a recall needs to be made in order to replace the relay at fault due to it becoming "stuck". The units are not cheap and I’m not asking for a total replacement, just a repair. Planning on contacting the users experiencing this issue and collect signatures with customer’s complaints and hoping to file suit.

We purchased a 2 unit LG duct-free split system on April 15, 2016. The recommended filter cleaning is once a month. Each unit only operates about 8 hours a day. When the filters are removed, there is very little particulate matter on the screen. We even added the recommended 3M filters inside the interior of each unit. However, we have had to have the plastic blower wheels removed and cleaned because of extreme dirt and grime attached to the wheel.
This servicing has been done twice now for the interior units at considerable expense because we were told this problem is a result of our failure to keep the filters clean. Even our installer admits that we have a clean house. Along with the filthy blower wheels, we've also had the bedroom unit leak water inside the house on our bed several times. I am thoroughly disgusted with this LG product and wish we had never gotten involved with this brand. It kind of goes along with a LG television that was less than 2 years old that just went to a black screen one night with no warranty left for this problem. Believe me, we will not be buying anything produced by LG again.

I bought a very high end portable LG air conditioner and it has leaked inside the unit since the first day I bought it. I called and they sent a service technician who told me I needed to just put a hose on it so the water could drain out. I DID THAT. Guess what? It leaks from inside the unit even with hose on. Every night I have to turn machine on its back to get the water that sitting inside the unit or it just will start spilling all over my floor. I can't get inside as it sealed but you can see where it drips from a cylinder.
When I called back they said it was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do... They told me to contact SoCal tech and when I did they said they don’t work on those anymore for LG. Probably because they are so poorly made. I paid over 400 bucks and the thing has never worked and they won't help me. And they can't even provide a paid service technician... So I either mop up water every day or buy a new one. BUYER BEWARE.

In 2018 I set up the unit and with just a few day I got an error code (E2) display on the panel, did all that is require but nothing will allowed unit to start again.
I call LG very nice at first, was told that I will be getting a technician on the 8-11-2018, was call right back was told my unit is no longer in a recall, that was fix in 2017 and that the services call have been cancel, I was told after a lengthy conversation that a new unit will be sent to me that I must sent my unit to them, that was a lie (No record of any of the conversation). 8-11-2018 I received a call from the technician. He is on his way, I call him back explained what was told to me on the telephone about a new unit been sent in the near future, so he never came. Shortly after LG call me ask why? I explained because what I was told by another Customer services person but no notes.
Another appointment was set, for 8-14-2018, I wrote to the company via email, was told that that appointment was cancel because my recall was fix, however I never had a problem with my air conditional only after that so call recall was fix. I was direct again to call the recall center with no luck so here I am today, complaining about an item that it supposed to work but is not. I sent another email today. But to be honest all that I wanted was to have my unit fix. Nothing also, LG is a very big company and there were 3 air conditioner in a recall list. I only wish I could give 0 stars. I've had the system for 2 years now and it has never worked properly. Installed in March of 2016 and within two months the a/c was blowing warm air. I had the installer come back and he said the condenser was bad. I called LG and told them I had the LG mini split system and they said, "You need to call the commercial dept for mini splits," and gave me a 1-800 #. Called the 800 # and was put on hold for 36 minutes before I gave up.
The next day I tried again and same thing. Then I told the person, "Please don't put me on hold again," so he bounced me from line to line to line--you know the game. Ok, so I called back the original LG customer service and asked if they had a website for commercial customer service and they said, "No but here's the 1-800 #." Ya right. Ok so I called Angie's List to see if I could get someone to fix my LG mini and the first 6 people wanted nothing do with it. Finally I got a guy to come out and fix it but it stopped blowing cool air after a month. Anyway, that was the pattern for the last 2 summers and I just tried it and it doesn't work. Please! Don't buy an LG! If you don't believe me just call LG customer service just for fun and they will bounce you to the Comm. dept and give you this stupid 1-800#. Then the fun begins... 15 years ago, I purchased a 10,000 BTU LG window air conditioner. At the time, they were a top rated a/c maker. It lasted 10 years with only one servicing for refrigerant. When the compressor went out after 10 years, I replaced it with a new 10,000 BTU LG in 2012. In just over two years, it broke - it would not turn on. It was the control panel circuit board and cost almost as much to repair as the purchase price. The authorized LG repair company said that this had become a common problem with many LG appliances. The circuit board was replaced in the Spring of 2015, but a bit over two years later, the same problem has happened again.
LG is not interested in the problem, which is obviously a quality of manufacturing issue. They are insulting, unprofessional and condescending. I did not expect to have to replace this window air conditioner this quickly. With what I have spend between the purchase price and the repair, I would have been better off spending an additional $150 initially on a Freidrich unit. My problem happened when I was told that the reason my unit stopped working was because of a piece of Styrofoam that came loose from around one of the coils that apparently is in place for transportation of the unit but does not get removed because the installers don't even know it is in place so the piece of Styrofoam came loose and blocked the fan and hence the problem. Worst experience when I bought the LG Portable AC Model 1111WXRY1 from local Home Depot on 04/02/2012. Just one week before completing one year, the cooling stopped. I called LG Customer Service on 03/27/2013 when the unit was well within one year warranty. I was given name and number of a Technician. The technician came and measured the outflow air temperature and suggested that either Compressor is bad or Freon is out. I followed up with LG after few days on 04/01/2013 and I was told they have not heard anything from technician. Upon my calling Technician, I was told that he cannot fix the AC.
I talked to customer Service again on 04/07/2013 and gave all my information again and the Rep gave me same technician number despite my telling her that they are not ready to do repair work. Thereafter, I called twice on 04/09/2013 and my phone was disconnected. So, I went to the Home Depot from where I bought this unit. The manager at Home Depot was kind enough to call the LG Customer service on my behalf. He spoke to the Representative who promised that the technician will call next day and issue will be resolved. Nobody called me next day. When I called technician, I was told, not to call him again. Reluctantly, this piece is lying in my garage. I have all dates and time and the person who I speak to are available. I could not give my review earlier due to some family issues.
