I've had Kinetico for years. They recently installed a different type of system to eliminate rust, and it was installed wrong, so I had to have an advisor come back. That was a while back. I would like to see more attentive customer service needs addressed quickly without having to wait for a callback. They had a tech who lasted about three days on the job, the guy that installed it. They came back and corrected it, but it was a little aggravating when I paid $3,000 for an upgraded filtration on my already existing system that was not installed correctly. Other than that, I'd still use them. It's an expensive product, but it's worth it.

The Kinetico water softener that we had was getting outdated and wasn't working as well. It was the first one we got when we moved in here over 20 years ago. We got another Kinetico for the replacement and the guy that came out was very good about it and showing me the system. It has been good compared to what was in my mother-in-law's house that made noise. There were different other ones out there but we weren't interested in them other than the salt system that we've been using. Having the new system, we've seen changes in a good way but I wish it was cheaper.

We bought a house and the treatment system it had wasn't very good. We got a lot of iron in our water. We needed a better system and our friend referred us to Kinetico. Their treatment system fixed the problem. It's not cheap, but I'd give it a 4 for what it does for us. Now, our water's better. We didn't live there when the other system was in. We did that before we moved in, but before, the toilets were orange, so that told me we needed something.

I got my Kinetico equipment from a local company here that I work with for water dispensers. I got it mostly because of them since they recommended it, and they're a trustworthy company. I also decided on Kinetico because of their reputation. They provide great water and the service is pretty minimal. Their equipment seem to just work. With the water softener system we put in, there not much hard water buildup on all the things, and it's working like it should. So you less soap and less all the things that come with hard water. I've had an issue with the water dispenser, where you have to open it up and clean the top tank out every once in a while because it's not a sealed system. But that's just how that system is designed and other than that, I've not experienced any issue. The Kinetico system is great. It's just who you have supporting it if you're working through a local company that matters. If they're good, then everything's going to be fine.

Kinetico serviced my area where a lot of other companies were unable to. We're on a well. I felt the softener was necessary regardless of who was installing it. Kinetico gave a presentation and made sense to me. It was reasonable, too. My experience with Kinetico has been good. We had one clog issue that seemed like such a small thing that we had to do a service visit on. And there was another small issue where the screw or the little nut got stripped when we had to manually do a regeneration. It's because I probably used the wrong screw for it. I didn't know how sensitive it was. But other than that, it's small things, but it still could be a little costly.
I'm happy with my experience with Kinetico, but it could be better as far as service visits. But I'd recommend Kinetico, especially if you’re running on a well. Also, they installed the softener in my woodshed, which started collapsing the floor. And they came out and fixed it when we called it in. They put some reinforcements underneath it, which was great. I'm really happy they did that.

I got both the whole house Kinetico system and the one for the sink. My wife has terrible skin. With the system, her skin is so much better now. That's been the absolute best benefit. I also drink out of the sink now. As far as the upkeep of the system, I do the salt myself. I just buy it from them.

We had problems with the first system that Kinetico installed. Then they installed another one, and we're having problems with that one too, and they refused to fix it. I'm very upset. It’s a new construction home. I don’t know who to go to or what to do to try and get this issue fixed. The public water where we have our new construction home is at the absolute maximum level for every type of bad thing in it. It's really bad water. It's Arizona, and the water is really bad. So, we had this unit that we paid way too much for installed during construction. It goes into a regeneration mode, the old one did, and it would just keep regenerating for two hours until eventually we just had to switch it off, because it was just wasting water.
Kinetico kept telling me that was normal, and that it would only do it once every couple of weeks. My husband and I are very, very water conservative. So, they charged us an additional 1,800 and some odd dollars to switch it out with one of their newer models. We got the new model. They said 1,500 gallons. We only visit this home once a month and when we're there, we're not even at the house much. So, it was regenerating about every four days. We would probably get through 500 gallons, and it regenerates.
On top of that, it's leaving the nastiest white film everywhere. It should be clear water. So, I brought in other water companies to come and test the water, but they can only test for softness. Maybe there's too much salt in it. If I wash my dishes, the ones that I have to hand wash and I just let them dry, and they dry with these thick white spots all over them. It's horrible. You have to rewash them to get the white spots off. Kinetico won't come in and see to it. They won’t change it out. They keep saying there’s no problem with it.
Hi Clare,
We are sorry to read that you have spotting on your dishes.
We see that multiple companies have confirmed that your water is soft. That is the purpose of the softener, remove calcium and magnesium that causes hardness. Therefore; the product that you are rating is performing as designed.
Your hardness level is 16. The amount of sodium left in the water after softening 16 grains per gallon of hardness is negligible.
It seems your softener is doing what it is designed to do.
The spotting on your dishes may be caused by other factors such as TDS, detergent, etc.
We will ask your Kinetico suppler to connect with you to facilitate better understanding of water quality and treatment.
Kind regardsKinetico

When I was building my house in 2005, my boss at work had gotten a Kinetico system and loved it. He talked me into getting one. I've had Kinetico for 21 years. It's great. I'll always have it. I've done an upgrade, and then a full replacement. I love it. My first system lasted over 15 years, and it got to the point where I needed a new one. So I upgraded to another system with some more filters, and it worked out really good. They ended up putting a wall-mounted filter where you remove the globe and you dump it, and you got to put a new paper filter in it and all that. A month after that, they brought me some salt. The guy said, "Well, we just had a promotion where if you'd have got this system a month before, you would have got the upgraded version, and you wouldn't have had that wall filter.”
The promotion they had on the upgrade from what I got was a $800 deal. It would have been $800 less if I would have got that other filter, but I didn't. I got the upgrade that I paid for, but he said, "Yeah, a month ago, you would have got this for free.” I don't think there's any way for me to know that. Other than that, their system is great.

Kinetico is the only way to go, which I have done. I first ran into them in Big Iron Farm Show in Fargo, and I've been very pleased with their product and with their service. I've had three different units installed, and they've always been very good with installation and maintenance. We have changed the filtering occasionally, but not even that often. And there just doesn't seem to be much upkeep. After getting our first Kinetico installed, the water was a lot softer and we could tell with the detergent. We also got rid of the iron stain. Then in the last installation in the new house we moved into, we have rural water and it was fairly soft. But we installed Kinetico there just to get rid of the chlorine taste. So, we've been really happy with all of them.

Purchased a whole home system from Kinetico in Chandler, AZ. It has never worked like I was told when purchased. Never really had “Soft” water. Then they hit you up with this mandatory forced media change for $500.00, and you have to argue with they’re want to be plumber because he showed up early without notice and raised his voice to me try to justify why he couldn’t wait 5 minutes, when I waited 4 days. This office is full of arrogant, self righteous, narcissists, that have no interest in Customer Service or even learning about it! Not impressed! Not Recommended!! So, needing this service, I DO NOT accept JASON as my “repairman”, and would prefer another location to handle my business from this point forward!

I reached out to Kinetico for a water softener and drinking water filtration system. Their rep gave us the presentation, and it was a couple months later when they were ready to install it because it was for a new build. The installation took a couple of hours. Where we have it installed is on a well so it filters out all kinds of stuff and the water is much softer. The drinking water is very good as well. Kinetico has a wonderful product and they are easy to work with.

We had a guy put in a well pump about three years ago. The water was smelly and the system filters the water in the holding tank, supposedly making it better for us inside the house. There’s much less of a smell. For a while there, we had a little bit of low water pressure, but it seems like it's okay. Sometimes, we would ask the guy who put it in to come out and check the water pressure. But he’s not very great about getting out here to do that.
The upkeep of the Kinetico system has been a hassle. We have to pull out this filter out of the holding tank, wash it off, rinse it and put it back in. The other filter is outside of the holding tank and that's very expensive to replace at $50 a time. We avoided having to backflow because I didn't want to waste water. But I realized we're wasting water by washing that filter every six weeks. When it's winter and you have to do that outside, it's hard to do. If I had known a little bit more about it, we might have gone with a different system. Another thing is the chain that holds the filter down in the holding tank. They didn't use galvanized material on that. So that started to rot and the chain would break and the thing would be stuck at the bottom of the holding tank. We have a 1,000-gallon holding tank. We asked someone to come fix it, but I've been a little bit disappointed with the service. Others should think twice about doing this.
Mary,
We are sorry to read of your concerns with your water treatment products. We had opportunity to review the installation with your area installer. The products you have these concerns with are not Kinetico products. You have a Triple 0 ozonator tank that is manufactured or sold by Kinetico Incorporated.
Fairness would request that you take this review and move it to the manufacturer of that product.

We moved from Fort Dodge and we had a water softener in there, but it wasn't a Kinetico. Where we lived, you had to have a water softener system because the water was that bad. When we moved, I looked up water softener companies, and I liked that the Kinetico system wasn't on demand. It wasn't running when you didn't need it. It ran through whether you use the salt or not. We had a water softener system but after 20 years, it gave out. Kinetico came right out when we called to look at it, showed me what had gone out and told me how much it would cost for a new system. We decided to replace it but he didn't have one with him so he went back, got one, and came back and installed it. Kinetico is a great product. One will never see me have anything. It's more expensive but it is less hassle.

We had water softeners in other places we lived and you just get used to it and have to have it because they prolong the life of your water heater. Also, the lime buildup in sinks and toilets is much less. They're really nice to have and they're better for your skin. We moved to this house and the Kinetico system was already in place. It's been fine and as good as what we had before so we are very happy with it. The service has always been great and the price for maintaining it is very reasonable. I would definitely advise someone to check into it. I don't know how people live without a water softener because it's just so much better to have one. It's easier to clean things and I don't think it's good for us to be drinking all of that particulate matter in the water.

I live in Tennessee now and you got to have Kinetico with the hard water here. I have their RO system and the water softener system that would handle 20 gallons a minute because I have a big custom home. It's been in place for two and a half years, and it works great. I had an almost identical system in my prior house that I had for four years. So, I already knew what I was wanting when I built my house. I'm completely satisfied with my Kinetico water system and I have no complaints. I told my parents that that's what they should buy, and that was what they did.

Kinetico put in a $9,000 system for our church, and they didn't do enough water testing to check it out exactly how it should be. And the thing is, in our church, we have blue clay in there and, apparently, one of the only things that their Kinetico system would not filter out is blue clay. So we pretty much flushed $9,000 down the toilet for this system.
And they could've easily checked it out and seen it. I asked them, "Why didn't you check everything? Why didn't you check all the stuff in the well?" They said, “All we do is we just check for calcium and sodium. We don't check for all that other stuff." If you're going to put in a $9,000 system, they ought to do testing for everything that's in the well. So, we're not very happy with Kinetico. It's been in for about a year. It's pretty much useless. It just sits there, and it's on bypass all the time because it doesn't work.

I give that thing a 10. Our city water here sucks, and that thing's awesome. I always tell everybody. We use it for a brewery, but we piped it to the rest of the restaurant. And that's when I called the salesperson, and she got on top of things and helped me get things done. ‘Cause it was going on for months. There wasn't a lot of follow-through until I got that salesperson involved. And I don't think I should have been calling the contractors.
They came out, and they reconnected the system. What happened was they didn't connect it correctly. Then I had damage that needed to be taken care of, and that's what took many months to get done. Kinetico has just been fabulous. I had a relatively expensive whole-house reverse osmosis system put in, and they've been really great at being responsive to issues that have arisen with it from time to time, like replacing a pump and those kinds of things.
At the beginning, the salesperson was very knowledgeable. She was great. But what was interesting about it was that we tested water from our old well to determine what equipment we would need when we got the whole system up and running. And it turned out that the new well had tapped into an aquifer that was even harder than the initial one. So, we had to upgrade all of our equipment, and Kinetico was on top of it. They took the old equipment back and just had us pay for the increase in price for bigger equipment to handle the harder water. They were super easy to work with when we kind of hit a little bump.
With the whole-house reverse osmosis system, the water's perfect. There's no smell. There are no residuals. There's no problem. It is an expensive system to install, and it requires a relatively decent expenditure every two years, roughly, to change the RO filter, but other than that, it operates quite well. I would definitely recommend them. They do an excellent job of standing behind the equipment that they sell and service.

I live in Arizona, so the water sucks. My brother-in-law and my nephew had the Kinetico system and they recommended it to me. The salesman was almost too knowledgeable. He went on and on, and almost gave me too much information. He was confusing me. But it was fine. I purchased the model with the drinking water filtration system, and the installation was done within an hour and a half. The young technician seemed to be very knowledgeable, too and told me what I needed to do.
Everything is going well. We love the taste of the water. Anytime I have an issue, somebody has come out within 24 hours, though I wish it were a little bit simpler and more seamless. I was hoping for something with a little less maintenance. There's a filter that has to be cleaned out every four months. So, I've been learning how to do that. It's straightforward once you know how to do it. As far as the quality of the water and the drinking water, I couldn't be happier. I already knew what the hardness was and what dial was needed for the unit. The installer was professional, knew what he was doing, and was in and out in good order. So, the installation went smoothly and didn't take very long. It was straightforward. I purchased the dual tank mechanical timer water softener and it performs the way I expect it to.
