In September 2018, my primary residence needed a new roof. I checked with local roofing contractors and then I chose The Home Depot because the salesperson convinced me that the Home Depot would stand behind their workmanship if I should ever have a problem. I was reassured that the Home Depot would honor a claim made by the person who contracted with The Home Depot.

My first warning that this transaction was bad was near the completion of the roofing installation, the contractor called me to say he had to add additional charges for materials not part of the original contract. A few months later, as the rain began to fall, I noticed a leak in the ceiling directly under a rooftop air conditioning unit. I called the Home Depot immediately on that day in January of 2019, and the problem has still not be fixed. In addition to the roof leak which has now resulted in damages to the ceiling, the permits were never completed. I paid for the permits with the expectation that the Home Depot would communicate with the city to complete the permits, but this has not happened. I would not recommend the Home Depot for any project. They are not too big to fail and they failed me.

In spring of 2017 we began to research roofing companies. We needed a roof on our primary residence and our rental home. After our due diligence, we selected Homes Depot to install both roofs. Our choice to go with Home Depot was based on the warranty, as well as, their claim of "We're not going out of business, we are the big orange store on the corner. If you went with Chuck in a truck, can you tell me were his office is?"

In August 2017 we signed contracts with Home Depot to begin both installs. We should have noticed the red flag when they had a dumpster sitting in front of our home for 3+ months without starting the project. We had to call the project manager several times for a time line. Neither neighborhood's HOA appreciated the mess. Looking over our paperwork now, it took just under a YEAR to complete both projects.

Come 2020, my husband notices a leak in our kitchen. Shortly there after, our renters gave notice and we sold the rental. During the buyer's inspection of the home, they find mold in the attic. Home depot failed to reattach the dryer and sewer exhaust. Thus spilling hot, moist air into the attic creating the mold problem. As home Depot no longer does roofing, they have sent us to a 3rd party mitigation team called Genpact. It is impossible to get a hold of anyone AND they do not return calls. If we cannot solve this roof problem that home depot created on the "sale pending" home, we will realize ACTUAL LOSS. Not to mention, we have had our primary roof inspected by a third party and the 3 year old roof is leaking, buckling and has mold also. Our experience with The HOME DEPOT AT HOME SERVICES is a epic fail.

In 2006 I had a new roof installed by Home Depot Installation Services. The roof warranty was for 25 years and the first 10 years are non-prorated. As luck would have it, after 14 years I have shingles that broken and a roof with leaks. I kept all my paperwork for this project and took it with me when I visited Home Depot. The representative took all my information and contacted me the same day. I was told that Home Depot no longer installs roofs and because I was so far beyond my warranty (?) I should contact my HOA, get a recommendation for a roofing contractor and turn it over to my insurance.

I paid almost double the amount of money to use Home Depot's installation service for the peace of mind of knowing I had such a large and reputable company standing behind their product. I have just gotten about half the life out of my roof and Home Depot has told me to turn it over to my insurance company (and people wonder why insurance is so expensive). I did complain to the representative and I was asked what I would like for them to do about my problem. I told them I did not expect for them to pay for a new roof but it should be prorated. They owe me at least 11 years of a 25 year roof which is 40-45% the cost of a similar roofing system. I was told they would see what they could do and get back to me in the next few days.

I have little confidence that I will hear back from anyone unless I call myself but I will update with any additional information. Bottom line, regardless if Home Depot does or does not help me with the cost of repairing or replacing my roof, just the fact that I am now having to argue with them over a document I have that clearly states that my roof is warrantied for 25 years should make you realize to not use their installation services.

After two and a half hours on wait, I got a callback. A work order was assigned. The next move was to assign an inspector. Now a week later no response from the company at all despite emails and calls. Highly frustrated!

I purchased a commercial-grade roof on 5/13/2017. Home Depot subcontracted the roofer. The roofer was in, around, and through my asbestos tiles ignoring all state and federal guidelines for dealing with the hazardous material. They even put silicon around my windows and in between gaps in the shingles. As of today, two shingles are off, and water seems to have been coming in for over a year. I have 3 levels of water damage. Home Depot wanted to resolve and "compromise" on a settlement amount that does not cover the removal and build back of the damage interior. They also jammed me up because now I have to bring my whole house up to code.

My house was built in 1904. I cannot get a permit to do ANY work unless all these issues are addressed. They've left my roof unprotected for over a month now and my house gets waterlogged every time it rains. I contacted the BBB recently and the FTC today. Do you know, if the FTC sees more than one complaint of the same type, they will open an investigation? They will even open a class action lawsuit if warranted. If you have not contacted the FTC with your valid complaint, I highly suggest you do so. I would hate to be homeless and lose my house because of gross negligent behavior.

I am using the app to get pricing for 3 tab roofing shingles. The app says if you buy more than 39 bundles you can save about $6 per bundle. I put the number at 40 bundles and get my price. I then decide I want to see what pricing looks like at 37 bundles, just to get an idea of the pricing difference. After clearing the cart, I went back to put in 37 bundles and the screen now says save $6 per bundle IF YOU ORDER 48.....WTAF? Why was the number of bundles increased by 10 to get the savings? My guess is they are trying to force you to buy more.

I called Home Depot 7 or 7 times. Put on hold for 40 minutes then disconnected. On hold for 20 minutes once then the phone connected but no one on the other end. I could hear people talking as I yelled "Hello" into the phone. 20 minutes of that then someone hung up on me. Finally got thru on CHAT and was told that I would have to contact the deliver people because they are separate from Home Depot and and now it is my problem to chase them down. Talk about being pushed aside and ignored.

About 8 years ago I needed a new roof on my house. Decided to go with Home Depot since they are a big brand name company. Their salesperson came out, and we went over everything the was to be done. Roofers arrived at my house, started doing to work. They were completed within 3 days. Then this is where the problems started. Walked around the house with the roofers and noticed huge gaps where shingles were supposed to be snug up against siding on my house. The fix for that was to put layer upon layer of silicon to fill the gaps. Then issues with permits and final inspection. Finally final inspection passed.

Now 8 years later my roof is not doing so well. Called Home Depot since I am still under warranty, and come to find out they no longer install roofs. They now push me over to their warranty company Genpact. Dealing with Genpact is a joke. Communication is non existent. Finally they send someone out to inspect my roof after close to 2 months and their inspector got on my roof and told me it is one of the worst ones he's seen. He said he's putting in for a full roof replacement. So lots of time goes by since the inspection, and again no communication.

Finally got someone on the phone and they said they sent me out a statement of settlement or acknowledgment. They want to settle for 9k, but 8 years ago Home Depot charged me 21k for a full roof. And now they think 9k is going to replace the roof. I denied their letter and had to get quotes from 2 different roofers. One quote came back at 24k, the second came back at 27k. I submitted them to genpact. After 2 weeks I finally was able to get a hold of someone who told me they were having a meeting with Home Depot regarding all the cases where people had to submit quotes and that I will have an answer on 2-25-2020. I send an email to Genpact inquiring about the meeting and an answer. Where I was sent an email saying that the quotes have been submitted. I then asked how much longer I had to wait, and then was sent another email saying something different than the first.

The second reply said that the quotes will be submitted and a resolution will be had in 10 - 14 days. Hmmmm, so one email says they were already submitted, and the second says they will be submitted, so which is it, have they been or are they still in process of submitting them. And guess I was lied to about the day of the 25th for having an answer. So now my quotes are only good for 30 days, it's already been close to 15 days since I received them.

And now Genpact is saying another 10 - 14 days. Looks like my quotes will not be any good by the time they decide if they are going to pay for a new roof. Possibly making the new quotes more expensive and having to deal with Genpact again to try and get the difference. This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had to deal with. Now I know exactly why Home Depot is not doing roofs anymore. They hired shady roofing companies to do subpar work. And now they do not want to stand by the warranty claim because they are losing all the money they received.

I should have known! Home Depot At Home Services uses Sub-contractors, that subcontract out to the lowest bidder! Beware! These subcontractors (?) have proven to be unqualified and rookies! My complete tear off and install took 7 MONTHS to complete! Do you know why? Because they had used the wrong nails which had protruded through my eaves and my open beam ceiling. Sure, Home Depot gave me a $1000.00 discount, but I paid top dollar to have Top Qualified Roofers install my new roof! If I had known then what I know now - Never, ever, ever will I use Home Depot Roofing to install any more roofs. Oh, but wait! Home Depot doesn’t do roofing installations anymore!

I’ve been trying to have their warranty company come out since June 2019 for my roof that was installed in May 2015. Ever since that fateful install, I’ve been experiencing leaks in 2 parts of my roof. During one of the storms in the first year, my skylight had sprung a leak! The shingles were put in place in a very hideous pattern and the flat roofing material was placed where it covered up the patio eave! I complained about this to Mark ** (someone that would come out to inspect) but he said it looked okay. It’s hideous. This is probably why Home Depot doesn’t do roofing installation anymore - their SubContractors used unqualified people that desperately needed a job. And their warranty company can’t keep up with the demand for repairs. I’m disgusted. I used Home Depot for my Go To store for all my repairs and renovations - without a hesitation. Now, I don’t!

I had Home Depot to a complete tear off on the roof on a house that my grandfather built back in the 50s. After about a year it started leaking. I called them. They came out once and fixed that problem. Then in July of this year it started leaking again. Now it is December 16th. They still have not come out to fix the problem.

Home Depot gave the warranty work to a company called Genpact. They call me about once a month to let me know that they still have not assigned the job to anyone and that they're still trying their best. I have asked him numerous times for a complete refund so I could have another roofing company fix what they are unable to or unwilling to fix. I spent about $9,000 on this roof and I wish I would have never went to home Depot. I will never shop there again. If I only found this review site before I made the purchase I would have not used Home Depot. Very dissatisfied customer...Wade **W

I purchased a roof from Home Depot in 2016. I've dealt with Home Depot for years for professional installation as well as products that I purchase in stores and online. While I have been happy with 90% of my purchases at Home Depot I would strongly discourage anyone from contracting them for roofing services or any other professional services for that matter.

I contacted them a month ago because the roof I purchased is leaking and still under warranty. Despite repeated calls and emails they still have not been able to give me a date for an adjuster to come out to inspect the roof. This is very frustrating because I am getting more moisture seeping in after each rain. It's very hard to justify contracting with Home Depot for professional services if they are not going to honor their warranties as their quotes are often higher than local contractors.

I'm not sure where to begin. It all started 14 months ago. Went Home Depot when the permit was approved to proceed forward with replacing my tile roof soon after delivers supplies to my house. Some of the material went into my garage such as the metal Channel Ridge vents sealer and vents. In front of my garage they delivered a pallet of cement for the tiles for the ridge.

This cement stayed in my driveway for about 11 months. During this time it rained and all of the cement tiles turn to hard cement. All the material had to be thrown in the garbage because of it was no good any longer. These items are typically delivered at the last part of the job and should not have been delivered to my house until it was needed. Both of my driveways were not usable because of debris or supplies during this time. I currently have debris out in front of my driveway that has been standing there for the past five weeks and Home Depot hasn't removed it. What should I do? You be the judge.

I wanted to upgrade my roof insulation so I asked Home Depot to provide the service. They sent an estimator who gave me a price and I had the work done. I found during the winter that the snow on my roof was melting faster than on other similar houses. I called home depot and they sent the same company that did the work to check it. This took more than one call, and the guy said it was OK. But realistically it was not. Then he blamed it on not having adequate roof vents.

They should have done that when they did the original job if that was the cause. I then contacted Home Depot twice to complain and nothing happened. I mean NOTHING. I advise not to use Home Depot for these services as they subcontract and then do not do their own follow-up but depend on the same contractor who didn't do the job properly to evaluate and that is a grand waste of time and money. Home Depot probably gets a commission but their follow-up is as bad as it can get. They do NOTHING. I will never hire anyone through them again.

March of 2018 I contracted Home Depot (HD) to replace my roof and was told it had a 25-year transferable warranty and they would do the repairs. The job was completed in one day in April 2018 and by April of 2019, I had to call them to have shingles replaced that blew off my roof which is guaranteed to sustain 130 mph winds. The repair was done by the original roofer to my satisfaction. However, the beginning of July 2019 I had a severe leak in my lower roof over my front porch and it did a lot of damage in the entranceway of my house. I called them because we had some severe rain storms and water was coming in.

The reason why I went with HD was because of the warranty and the 2 year charging on their card with no finance charges. Having IV Stage Cancer I wanted everything to be done properly and have no hassles when it came time to sell my house. My roof was over about $11,300 which was $4,000 more than local contractors wanted to do the roof. I am constantly on the phone with them and they are no longer in the roofing business and they are telling me it is up to me to get a contractor to fix the problem of the roof leak and to repair the damages. They want me to submit estimates and photos so they can put it through their insurance and go after the contractor. I still owe $4,700 on my HD Charge. The stress of this matter has been horrible for my health.

I took care of the roof problem being fixed and now I have to have the inside fixed. This is so unfair that a large company like Home Depot gets away with overcharging for all kinds of promises to do repairs and they do nothing. I feel that I should get a credit to my account for all the warranty repairs that they refuse to do. If I have someone else repair the roof it more than likely voids my warranty. Any suggestions on how to handle this situation?

I looked for the best roofer for over 6 months, looking only for licensed ones. Unfortunately, I heard from a Home Depot salesman, promising a 10 year warranty, and a licensed crew. It sounded too good to be true, but I signed up. I did not want my roof installed when it was below freezing, but the installation manager insisted. Now I know, I should have called the police instead of Home Depot to keep the roofers away. After the installation, icicles were everywhere, ice damming everywhere, and rippled shingles, visible from the road. I found out that no one on the roofing team was licensed, not even the manager. I also found out that the license number on the Home Depot business card was for someone long gone from home depot--a builder salesman, not even a roofer.

When I called The installation manager, he told me to wait for July to see if the shingles would lay flat. Then, he said September. I called Hanson's, for a roof repair estimate, and that salesman told me I need a new roof, because the bottom layer of shingles had pulled away from the other shingles, causing all of them to separate. Another independent roofer told me that Home Depot should repair the roof and that they had not cut out the drip edge where needed, so the shingles will never lay flat.

And then, the last straw, yesterday, when I looked at my account, and found that Home Depot had me scheduled for an 18% interest rate next month. This is after I went, in person, 2/2019, to the Portage, MI Home Depot store, to have this corrected to 0% interest for 24 months. If anyone is looking for a roof, never go through Home Depot. They are the most fraudulent and deceptive people I have ever run across. What kind of warranty is this anyway? When no one was even licensed. So, I either need a new roof, or new gutters, and I just paid %2000.00 for my gutters 2 years ago. I want to sell my home, and how can I with rippled shingles? I am 65 and I am unable to turn around and buy a new roof.

Home Depot was contracted to start the replacement of my roof and gutters over four months ago in late November, 2018. Problem after problem they told me the best way to fix the quality of work issues and mistakes made was to close out the job by having me pay off the balance and open warranty claim tickets to fix the issues they left. All along the way my wife's home business has suffered financial losses due to the noise caused by the work since the job has dragged on without reliable scheduling of when they would show up. My paychecks have also suffered because Home Depot as the general contractor of this job was not showing up on sight to direct the subcontractors, meaning I had to take time off work day after day to check up on, direct work and point out their mistakes. Dozens of emails, voicemails and text messages had gone unanswered.

Now, the supposed final fixes were scheduled out to coincide with my family being out of town. When I arrived home, all my gutters are off the house and laying in gravel, in my yard, blocking access to my out buildings which I need access to. The rain run off from the roof is now damaging my property further beyond what the HD crews has already done. I'm told by the HD rep that as of this week, 3/27/19, HD is no longer in the roof and gutter business, that's why the contractors didn't finish the job and the roofer that been working on it will not be returning, possibly the gutter installers either. After speaking with the roof and gutter installers, it appears that Home Depot has not been honest with them or myself, the customer. Home Depot decided not to honor a signed contract that already had been approved financially and had a $5000+ down payment applied to the loan. I needed a roof and had contacted a few different contractors for estimates. I found out Home Depot did general contract work that covered roofing. I set up a time to meet with a sales rep, and it took hours to get the measurements and then contact and get approved for the project loan through the Home Depot Loan Program. Then we made time for another Home Depot employee to come to our property and get the more exact and final measurements. He informed us that he was now going to order the materials and schedule the work to be done.

Now today I get a call, a month later I might add, saying that they are sorry, but Home Depot has cancelled our project because corporate has decided to no longer do roofing projects as of this week. When I contacted my sales rep, he informed me that Home Depot had fired him and everybody in that scope of work nationwide without notice last week, but he thought they would honor contracts that were already signed and in progress. How can a corporation this big be so unprofessional and back out of a signed contract? Is it even legal? I guess I'll need to ask a lawyer... Lowe's is now my store for home and business projects. And I'm in construction and have always been loyal to Home Depot for all my tools that they had in stock, or orders online for 20+ years. Bye Felicia!

I am a senior citizen and Military veteran. I had to contact the Ohio General of Ohio to get my refund that Home Depot. They ignored my request for credit due to me, since they picked up extra material that was not needed that they ordered for my project. They also refused to pick up many opened packages that the installers opened unnecessarily for credit.

I contacted Home Depot by phone, email etc. regarding the refund for a month and half and out of desperation I had to contact our Ohio Attorney General to help me secure my refund. Home Depot still owes me about $750 for products that were unnecessarily opened. Stay away from Home Depot, they make a sale and they ignore you afterwards.

I had a appointment today 11/5/2018 at 9. Home Depot sent me a email and called to confirm. I confirmed that today was fine. We had hurricane Michael come thru our town of Bainbridge GA and messed up our roof. We have to get a new roof. So we were going to get a price from the Home Depot. Well the man Richard never showed at 9. So I called at 930 and was told from someone at the 800 number that he came at 8 and no one was home. That is a lie because I have been home all morning!!! And the lady said he came at 8 because of the time change. What kind of professional is this! What a joke. I will tell everyone I know not to use home services at the Home Depot!!!

I contracted Home Depot to install my new roof in August 2018. During removal the workers knocked off a siding shingle and discarded it with the old roof materials. Additionally, within hours after installation I noticed an area where the new roof shingles were uneven and unprofessionally installed. I was told by the project manager, Mike **, that he would return later in the week to correct the problems. It has been 12 weeks and the problems have not been addressed. I have made seven phone calls to Mike where his reply was "next week."

I have made two calls to Home Depot where I was told it would be brought to the attention of management. I have emailed my sales representative James **, and his supervisor Douglas **, and have had zero response. NO ONE has followed up with me. I chose Home Depot since their warranty was impressive, now I am stuck with a jacked up roof which I cannot hire someone to repair since it will void my warranty. AVOID HOME DEPOT AT ALL COST.
