On June 23, 2009 at about 9:30pm, I walked into Home Depot store looking to purchase an air filter and to browse around. As I proceeded through the store, I stopped in the bath dept saying I can find something here also for the bathroom. There was a white employee who saw me looking around for several minutes. He didn't ask once if I need some help. But as soon as this white couple walks in the same department, he immediately approached them and asked them if they need some help and he showed them where to find the product. He looked at me and walked toward another aisle and I said to myself wow! This can't be happening, not in 2009, no way.
So I said let me continue to walk around and see how this experience will continue to get. Again as I proceeded toward the lumber area to look at some plywood, there was another white employee saw me looking around for several minutes. I even stood approximately five or six feet away from him. He never once said excuse me sir may I help you or has anyone helped you. Even though he was with a white customer helping her out at the time, he saw me standing there and turned his back and continued talking to her as if I wasn't standing there and once he loaded her cart he proceeded toward the entrance way and never said once may I help you.
Now in any business, the employee is always supposed to ask the other customer has anyone helped you or I be with you after I take care of this customer. It was humiliating and embarrassing to be subjective to this type racism in 2009.

They refused to make good on a tree I purchased there in April because it wasn't in the original pot and I didn't have the receipt (it was in the ground all that time so that saves pots and receipts especially when you buy something in good faith). I will certainly tell any and every person that wants to listen about how I was treated.

On 6/14/09, I purchased a paint with primer mix at the cost of $166 and did not get the color I wanted. Instead, I got school bus yellow. So on 6/23/09, I went back and asked what could be done. The salesperson said that he could tint it a green color. So we agreed on the green and I went home to get the color I had wanted for the yellow based. Once I got back, he ruined the color even more, because now, he just added blue to it. It is not green and it is not how I wanted it. I asked him if I could split up the paint and tint a darker color for a gallon or two at my expense, just so I could get the paint on the wall. He said the company would not let him do that. So now, I'm stuck with five gallons of ugly paint that is going to sit and rot and I still have to spend money on more paint. What a way to help the environment.

I have submitted to Home Depot Rebate Special Services Center on 3 different occasions my rebate form and associated documents. Every time I call for an update on the status of my rebate, I am given the excuse of either the address or fax number was incorrect and that I am not in the system. Original submission was November 11, 2008. I received a letter dated January 16, 2009 that states I am in the system. I am entitled the $200 rebate check from Home Depot and am disgusted with the quality of service to receive what I am entitled to. Unnecessary stress from an organization that does not keep its promises!

This is the second grill I have had to return. I ordered the parts and started to take it apart in order to get a head start because I have a 25th wedding anniversary to cook for this weekend. Well, there is no way to take it apart. The screws are not able to be drilled out; then you have nothing to fasten the new ones to. The bracket that holds the burners is broken on one side and the spacers between the burners are broken or loose. I have taken it back to Home Depot. They attempted to fix it and they can't even do it. I really feel this should be replaced at Charmglow’s expense. I feel Home Depot has gone beyond what anyone else would do! Thank you.

My balance never goes down. My payments get higher every month. The more payments I make, the more interest they charge. I will never get out of this rut. The interest is at 26.99, I feel that this is an abuse and robbery. The card belongs to my daughter but I am the one that used the card so I am paying on it. I am on a fixed income on SS disability and this is getting worse for me.

I purchased a stainless steel grill and three of the five burners are rusted out and doesn't work. I called Home Depot and got a runaround. I think Home Depot should remove Charmglow if they are not going to stand behind their products they sell. Over 30 pages of complaints regarding Charmglow, I think we should start a class action lawsuit. I paid $499.99 for the five burner with a side burner stainless steel. I will never buy a Charmglow again.

I ordered several items, including a special order for 2/0 copper wire, the same as I had purchased a few months earlier. Upon receiving the order, after shipping it via Tropical Shipping of Miami, to the Turks and Caicos Islands, it was obviously wrong, they sent me bare copper, uninsulated grounding wire. I had the Head Engineer from the local utility company inspect the product, and he confirmed it was only used in grounding. On contacting the sales assistant, Lisa, from the store, she eventually referred me to the manager and he was extremely unhelpful, tried to blame me and refused to send me the correct product, unless I paid in full. On explaining that I had already endured heavy shipping and customs duty bills, he eventually agreed to a 75% discount, in order for me to get the product I had originally ordered. I also needed to ship the wrong product back at my own expense and of course have to pay freight and duty on the replacement. It meant that $1200 worth of wire has cost me over $3000. I will not shop at Home Depot again and will take this matter further with Home Depot corporate, as I am building a vocational training facility for under privileged kids.

My husband and I tried to purchase a patio set from Conroe Store. We finally left the store without making the purchase simply because no one would take the time to help us with the purchase. We spoke with three different employees and they did not have a clue about how we could make the purchase. It seems no one was assigned to the garden center. We found the perfect table, chairs, and umbrella for our newly built patio. Unfortunately, even though the store was open, no one was able to help us. We are still looking for patio furniture and Home Depot lost a sale. I find this really hard to believe. It certainly does not match the advertising messages they produce.

On Saturday, April 4th, 2009, I contacted the Home Depot Store at 150 Pocono Commons, Stroudsburg, PA Store No. 4127 to ask about the warranty for my lawn installation. I was informed by Manager Linda ** that all installations are under warranty for a year. She then referred me to the Manager of installations, Cheryl ** who stated that she would contact the subcontractors, Scott and Joe from Extreme Transformations and the district manager of Home Depot, Charles ** in reference to my complaints. Charles ** visited my property around the end of April 2009. My wife pointed out all the gravel in the dirt and the areas that are unleveled and he acknowledge that there was a problem by calling me and taking pictures of my property and stated that it's obvious our lawn did not take because of the large amount of gravel in the top soil. Charles stated that he would see what he can do for me and gave him a few days for a resolution. After he left, I called him that following Thursday because I did not hear from him on Wednesday and he stated that he is still trying get in touch with the sub-contractors, to give him another day. That Friday past and I called Charles back on Monday, and we exchanged e-mails. After a couple of weeks, there was still no resolution. I then called corporate and spoke to Shondreka ** and she said she will investigate. She then called me back and stated that the district manager, Charles **, closed the case
Based on his opinion, we did not water the lawn as needed and the sub-contractors did us a favor by clearing additional areas and we did not obtain the recommended amount of dirt. The initial install was done on May 6th, 2008. After the install was completed, three weeks later, we noticed that there were huge rocks and two tree stumps that had surfaced and they needed to come back and redo those areas. They came back in July to fix the problem, but after they dug up all the huge rocks and pulled out the two tree stumps, they said that they will give us a load of dirt for obtaining a client through me, but in reality they needed the extra dirt to fix the property after they tumbled the yard for the second time.
The following complaints were made to Home Depot and the sub-contractors on April 4th 2009. My grass did not grow due to the large amount of gravel in the top soil they gave us. We have re-seeded, limed, fertilized and watered the lawn daily and the lawn did not take. The property was not properly graded after the final installation. Please keep in mind that my property was completely graded and leveled by the company that built my home. In fact, the sub-contractors acknowledged this during the initial consultation. In September of 2008, we realized that the final grading done by the sub-contractors left many unleveled areas and large puddles when it rained. We immediately tried to contact Scott and Joe from Extreme Transformations several times throughout the fall, but they did not respond to my messages. Winter came and I decided to re-visit the issue after winter was over.

I used the Homelite weedeater for 1 season. Each time I tried to start it, it was a nightmare. When I went back to Home Depot, they pretty much laughed me out of the door. It was my fault for buying the cheapest one! So the next summer arrives and the first time I went to try and use it, it poured gasoline all over me. I was smoking a cigar when this happened. I virtually screamed for fear of catching fire! That aside, I tried again to get the folks at Home Depot to actually listen to me. This wasn't a defective product. This was a potential killer. This time they laughed louder, "Sorry, more than a year old now. Ha ha!" So once again I tried to use it.
I found the cause of the fuel leak and using the parts from an old blower, I did a repair with some glue and the fuel lines. But alas, this year not only is it difficult to start, it is impossible. I don't want to give the folks at Home Depot the pleasure of laughing at me again, so I want to throw this piece of junk out. However, I would like to find out if there is anyone else out there that have had the fuel pour experience. I destroyed a pair of good jeans, sneakers and $1 socks! But that was nothing compared to the third degree burns that I could have got. What can I do about at least getting the price of the jeans covered? Homelite truly stands for junk!

I am Home Depot customer. Charging me and whomever else 25.99% APR is not going to get the economy anywhere! All a 25.99% APR is going to do is cause more defaults! Home Depot cards were (and I say were as in past tense) good cards to have for fixing up your home. But since the economy is not doing good, they have made it next to impossible for a working person to use their card with the high 25.99% APR. Whoopie, they offer 0% interest for 6 months if you spend $299 or more, but if you have smaller purchase, the interest is outrageous! I would not recommend a Citi Home Depot card to anyone! The high APR is only going to cause us to begin getting behind on our bills and help ruin the economy even more!

The night they broke, I threw a party, and four of my guests fell right down to the floor. One of my guests suffered a broken arm; I was very upset by this. We have had an account with Home Depot since 2006 - when we purchased flooring for a home we were selling. We have paid at least the monthly amount, usually a bit more on time each month. In March and April 2009, we were a couple of days late and the gracious folks at Citi Corp doubled our interest rate (15% to 30%) and charged us a late fee. I'm not disputing the late fees, but doubling our interest rate to the rate they state is a default rate is just plain greedy. We're attempting to resolve this with them but after reading other comments, I'm not optimistic. We aren't in default right now but if they won't resolve the matter and do what's right, we very well could be.

I purchased the Blue Ember grill from Home Depot a little over a year ago. It works great with one tremendous problem; the heat shield and grease holder corroded to pieces. I have not been able to locate a replacement for these items. I contacted Blue Ember and numerous companies on the internet, but none have the replacement parts. Blue Ember states the warranty has expired and will not replace. I offered to purchase the part, but they will not respond to voice messages or emails. As I said, the grill is very good, but don't expect any help or assistance from the company. I now have a $500 stainless steel grill that cannot be used. I found out they are now charging close to 30% on account and no chance of getting it lowered. I will never get this paid off. So I’m trying out how to find credit solutions to help me get out of this mess. If anyone out there opens an account with Home Depot, better think twice. I have not been using this account for several months. They lowered my credit down which was fine, just above what I owe. They said they sent a letter out raising the interest but I never received one. The payment went up then went up again. That’s when I called and found out the $70.70 on the statement that said purchase Cash AD was interest, so my payment of only $30.30 would go on the bill. So there’s no way I will ever get this paid off, I have no extra money.
Consequences: just mental strain because I can never get this paid off since almost all goes to the interest. I know no legal remedy for my complaint; I just wanted to let someone know. I know if I can find someone to help me, I am going to try my dardnet to.

On February 22, 2007, I contracted with Home Depot Installations from the Kanata Canada store for a double level (2 floor) Sunroom to be built at the back of my house. Home Depot used a service provider, Mr.Dennis ** of Vue Solariums to do the installation. Through the entire process, there were many issues, one being that on July 7, 07, the contractor started construction finally even though he didn't have city permits to do so. This was a two level solarium. Believe it or not, he started the job from the top then did the bottom! The product was from Temo Sunrooms, which we assumed was a very highest quality.
The construction took over two years and in the building plan we received, many changes were made to original drawings that we were originally sold on. The lower level room was to have higher quality triple pane windows and insulation in floor and ceiling, plus special window transit top and bottom to let the light in. They ended up having to put a big metal steel I-beam in the wrong place which they covered with wood, but blocks the view from those top transit windows. The biggest problem which is still an ongoing issue is they did not put the proper flashing attachments to the roof so there is water leaking into the top sunroom and progressed down through the insulated floor to lower level room.
Home Depot has considered this to be a condensation issue and has closed the file and they are expecting final payment for the job. However, to date, when it rains, I have wetness on my floor in the second level and they refuse to do anything about this. I have retained legal service. However, this is very costly and I cannot believe that a company of this size doesn't care about its customers. This is a great deal of money for this job and I am totally not satisfied, I cannot even put final flooring down in the room because of all the water issues.

First, he put me on hold and after 10 minutes, he came on the line and said that the old company is no longer "resubmit with us." I explained, "I resubmitted with you." Again, he put me on hold and after 30 minutes, the line disconnected.

At 11 pm on 4/3/09, I logged on to make my payment. My due date/time is 5 pm PST 4/4/09 (still 17+ hours away). I noticed a late charge was already posted to recent activity for $35 dated 4/4/09 (remember, it's 17hours before its due and still 1 hour the day before). I made my online payment. I used their Contact Us and asked how they can charge a late fee before the deadline has even arrived. I asked them to remove the late charge fee. I got a response back around an hour later (still about 16 hours before the due date/time). They said, "We can't reverse it as your payment hasn't posted (it is still not late yet, remember)."
As I write this, the payment due date/time is 16 hours in the future. I have my payment confirmation number, with date/time of payment in their email. I took screen shots of the browser showing what time it was and the postdated late charge. How in the world can the customer service person who answered my query about this not see how they're in error and not fix it?

I had found a nice storage cabinet at Home Depot that I was interested in purchasing 3 weeks ago. When I first went, I was told that they were all sold out and would be getting more in stock in 2 to 3 days. I came back in 5 days, and again there were none. The salesman had told me that they could order one in from the Brockville location, and that he did not need my name, etc. but to come back on Tuesday. I came back in 5 days and there were still no cabinets, except this time, Jennifer asked to take my name and number and would call me when they were expected in on March 18th. I had not heard again until yesterday, which was April 2nd. Jennifer left a message on my answering machine saying that they did not have the white cabinet in, but they did receive 8 of the wood finish ones that I was looking for.
Today after work, I made a trip to Home Depot (at the other end of town) to pick up the cabinet. Mark, who was trying to help me, could not find any of the wood finish cabinets; and I asked if maybe they had made a mistake on their computer and entered the incorrect stock number. It turns out that they had 8 of the white cabinets in stock and none of the wood finish. So I said forget it. I was going to use this $25 coupon I had that expires April 12th. Too bad I couldn't find something to buy. So I decided that I would go and buy the 2nd item on my list which was 6 new cushions for my patio set and a new patio umbrella. They were $29.99 each which seemed like a good deal, and the umbrella was $99.99. I found some cushions that I really liked, but the box only contained 3.
So I went to the 2nd color I liked, and again there were not enough of that color. There were not 6 of any type of chair cushions. I asked Glen for help, and when he checked the store computer, there were 11 in stock; but he didn't know where. I spent another 20 minutes waiting while he pretended to help me. I finally left the store disappointed after spending an hour buying nothing because the staff could not find the proper items and where they were stored. It was a very frustrating experience, and I'm not sure if I will be returning to Home Depot anytime in the near future. It's too bad because we were just approved for a $5,000 credit card.

This Afternoon 3/29/09 at 1700 while cooking some ribs with one burner on and a interior temp of 350 degrees my wife had a fire start that she could not put out even with a dry chemical fire extinguisher from the kitchen. She had to reach into the bottom of the grill area where the burnt propane supply line was on fire and like a blow torch and turn off the propane tank valve. She had burns to her hair on her head . We are lucky that we did not lose our deck and house due to your grill malfunctioning.

I have a line of credit w/ Home Depot (HD). I made a payment of $100 to my HD account in October 2008. This would be the last bill I would receive from HD. After having a causal conversation in Dec 2008 about home repairs with my family, I realized that I still had not received a bill from Home Depot for November or December 2008. I then called the customer service # on the back of my Home Depot credit card to see if I had a payment due. I was certain that there was a small balance left on my card.
HD automated system confirmed that my payment for Nov was late and I immediately made a $50 payment to get my account current. I thought nothing of it at this point. In Jan 2009, I went to refinance my car and house and noticed I wasn't getting the rates I thought I should be getting. My credit score was at or above 700 for all 3 credit bureaus. I then ordered a credit report to see if it could explain why I wasn't being offered better rates. My Experian score was a 686, my Equifax was 650 and my TransUnion was 649. I thought to myself, "This is NOT right."
Sure enough, when I looked at my report more closely, I noticed that HD had slapped a "30-day" late tag on my report. So, from here I started researching. I needed to see these bills that I did NOT get (for Nov and Dec 2008). I found out that HD had an online account service that I could sign up for to receive bills electronically. I did this ONLY because I wanted to see the bill I never got for Nov and Dec 08. Turns out my bill for Nov 08 was due 11/17/2008. Minimum due was a whopping $10. This was the bill that was responsible for the 30-day late fee. I paid it on 12/22/2008 and it was a total of 35 days late altogether.
I called HD on 1/29/209 at 12:25pm. I forgot to write down the rep's name that I spoke with but I'm pretty sure it was a male. Basically, I told him what happened. I told him I never received a statement from HD in Nov, Dec 08, Jan and Feb 09. He said they would investigate the matter but if no BANK error was found, there was nothing they could do to change my account. I mentioned to him that HD MUST take this late tag off my credit report. After all, it is not my fault that HD uses a 3rd party to deliver their mail in the USPS. If it was that important to HD, they would ensure the mail they send out it being delivered promptly. But the rep mentioned to me that their systems showed they delivered my bill and the rep actually got a little testy with me. I think I remember asking him if he delivered my personally.. Obviously the answer to that would have been 'no.'
I also brought up a few more points while on the phone with the HD rep. To my knowledge, fair debt collection practices include giving notice and sending invoices. I also mentioned to them that I have been a loyal customer for 2 years. I have never had a late payment on the card before. In addition, I have spent thousands of dollars in their store. Also, they gave me a credit line of $3300. Would HD have given me this credit line if they didn't think I could make a $10 minimum payment on time? Finally, the rep told me that Home Depot sends all their bills out to credit customers between the 19th and 23rd of every month. Their processing center is in Atlanta. I live in Charlotte. Now, based on when I called them (1/28/09) and close proximity between Charlotte and Atlanta (roughly a 4 hour drive), I should have had February 2009 bill by then. But there was still no statement from HD.
After bringing up all these points, HD wouldn't budge on changing it. The rep said they will have to let the investigation run its course. He mentioned it would take 8-14 days for the investigation to run its course and that I should call back then. I said, "Okay." Then in Feb, I wrote letters to all 3 of the credit bureaus asking them to take the 30-day late hit off of my credit report. I tried this in desperation. They all wrote me back and their answer was NO. And I don't blame them for this one bit. They report what HD tells them to and this wasn't their fault. However, I figured I should cover all my bases and try. I did and it was obviously not successful.
At 11am on 2/19/2009, I spoke with a HD credit services rep (Nikki **). I wanted to find out the results of my investigation. She said that there was no bank error found and there was nothing that HD could do for me. I asked for her to escalate me to some sort of credit resolutions team so I could talk to a decision maker. She informed me that they would tell me the same thing and that the investigation serves as their escalation process. I expressed to her my disappointment and that I would have to find alternate mean to get this issue resolved. That is where I am at right now. Either HD didn't send me a bill OR the post office screwed up. Either way, not my fault as companies are OBLIGATED to ensure bills get to their customers.

Therefore, I went to return the merchandise; however, Home Depot refused to return the merchandise in accordance to their 90 day return policy (cash, check, or debt card purchases if returned with original receipt within 90 days will receive cash equivalent). Instead they (Home Depot) said I had to wait 7-10 days for the check to clear the bank, but I was specifically told to come back in 7 days by the returns cashier. The check cleared my bank on 3/23/09.
I returned today (3/25/09), only to be offered a store credit for $468.00 when I paid $502.44. The cashier manager (Steven) tried to convince me that it was a written and posted store policy, however when I brought it to his attention the 7-10 day waiting period was not stated in their return policy posted at the return register. He (Steven) then tried to explain that it was really a bank policy. Not being satisfied with Steven's assistance, I spoke with Tim (the operations manager), who stated the 7-10 day return policy is something they have been doing for 20 years, but as I explained: if that is so then Home Depot should have that (7-10 hold policy) posted as part of the return policy. Unfortunately, I was not able to receive any satisfaction, short of allowing Tim to keep the merchandise and to give me a call when I can come pick up my cash.

I was fired from Home Depot after 2 years working at the store. Some manager used a technicality with a supposedly-falsified time sheet as an argument to fire me, which was not true. The manager saw that I was on time at the store. In my hurry, I forgot to punch in the time clock and I filled out a time sheet as a consequence. I'm a very responsible worker with any work I do, my work record is clean anywhere I have worked, and I have never been fired before. This situation is prejudicial to me in a great manner, because I'm having severe economic consequences. The Unemployment Insurance Agency has denied my application that I deserve by law.
HOME DEPOT IS LYING BY STATING THAT I WAS FIRED BECAUSE I WAS FALSIFYING TIME SHEETS (!) which is completely false. That argument is affecting me enormously in getting a new job because companies ask Home Depot the reason why I left the job. When I asked Home Depot representatives about their statements, they lied to me that they did not inform them why I got laid off. This is completely contradictory to the truth. My relations with all workers and customers always have been neat, professional and friendly. There were some workers that were causing me extreme tension, because they indirectly threatened me with insults and discrimination. This situation I kept to myself, and instead in many cases, I made those people friendly and peaceful to me and I never wrote any complaints about them.
During the two years I worked at Home Depot, I was under severe work pressures, working for long periods of up to 9 hours non-stop, and I did not even pause to get any food or water. I have my work-time records that can be compared with the company's records. Those pressures damaged my health for life, with my having to have had three heart procedures with two stents, and so my heart condition is not good right now. Further, it is now impossible for me to get another heart surgery because I do not have any health insurance at this time. Actually, for a long time I have had to pay bills myself arising from these procedures. As a further consequence, I have not been sending family support for a long time because I can only just pay doctors bills, room rent, car, food, etc.
I think this is not fair to me, because I have contributed to this country, like a professional with a college degree (Civil Engineer), with a very good work ethic, in many cases educating people at work, organizing, maintaining high work standards for very little money due to my immigrant status.

It is a shame because they have made their money over and over that they really do not care about the consumer and we are who made them be who they are today!

I live in Homestead, Florida and our local Home Depot has been the butt for jokes about bad service. I needed a Moen faucet for our shower so off I went to Home Depot. Upon arriving, I headed right to the plumbing area. I could not find any associates to help so I walked over to the paint department and asked them to page someone to the plumbing department. They did that. After 10 minutes, I asked them to page an associate again. Another 10 minutes passed so I went looking for help. I found an associate but he could not help since he did not know where I could find the item that I needed. I told him that if he knew where the plumbing associate was and he said, "Probably at lunch. Everyone went to lunch and only he and another person were available." I gave up and headed to LOWE'S where as soon as I walked in, someone asked me if they could direct me to an area.
I said, "Please direct me to plumbing,” they did. In the plumbing area, I found a person that was knowledgeable and very helpful. He found the tool I need to remove my old shower stem, found the correct stem for my Moen faucet and asked if I needed anything else? I said, "Please direct me to your manager so I can tell that person what a pleasure it was to shop here." I found the manager, told him about my Home Depot experience and how his staff was so superior in comparison. He stated that with the type to service that Home Depot provides, he see them closing that store in one year due to poor sales. You need to address the manager at Home Depot here in Homestead, Florida. It's a real shame that a store like Home Depot would close for poor leadership.

We have had a Home Depot card for several years. We paid more than the minimum amt. and realized our promotional purchases were not being paid on. So after getting slapped with $102 finance charge on our promotional purchase, I called Home Depot wondering why. According to them, in order for your extra payments to apply to the promotion, you have to call Home Depot and inform them of this. Outraged, I questioned them to as why on the statements there is not one mention of this.
Also, at a trip to Home Depot, I mentioned this to a sales person and stated that their promotions weren't so great when you were getting socked with accrued finance charges. I wondered out loud as to why we didn't have a choice to accept the promotion or not. He stated that, "that's just the way it goes." I read my statement from top to bottom and no where does it state this. Of course, with no one giving us answers, we closed our account.

Today, February 6, 2009, I was shopping at the Home Depot store, River Dale Coon Rapids, Minnesota. I was in the plumbing department to find a replacement filter for my ice maker. I had brought the old one for reference and found its replacement (with many others) above the store's (stick on) sales price. At check out, the clerk had difficulty having it scanned so he called plumbing department and then made another call and received the item number. As it rang up it became ten dollars more, he asked me if this was correct and I told him No!
There was a line of other customers building behind me so I asked that he take care of these customers and I would go back and check the price to make sure I had read it correctly. When back at the item I saw I was indeed correct when a woman employee approached me and said she was also going to check on the price. She removed the item from the shelf and noted it was marked with the wrong price. When I questioned her, she asked for assistance from a male employee. He also stated that it was mismarked. The woman employee then stated to her co-worker that because it was marked with the one price, should we sell it as marked. She was told that he couldn't because sometimes people move items. So I asked him if people could just come into the store and stock the shelves and really had access to the sales stickers.
Point: In having thirty six years in Law Enforcement, the last sixteen as a Forensic Scientist and conducting many interviews with people of varying degrees of criminality I know when someone is giving me a line. The very idea that anyone would believe this story was all it took to push me to your competitor's store. I might also advise you not only did I find the item on three separate shelves they were all marked properly AND six dollars cheaper. Thank you in advance for your time.

On 1/31/09 at approx. 2:23 pm, I purchased a few home repair items from our local Home Depot. I paid the bill with an American Express credit card. After receiving my credit card back, I put it in my wallet, then left my wallet on the check out counter. I took my purchases to my car, opened my car door and checked for my wallet which is a habit I've developed before driving. My wallet was missing. I went directly back to the check out counter. From leaving the first time from the check out counter to discovering that my wallet was missing and returning, it was in all, less than three minutes. On returning to the check out counter, my wallet was not there.
I asked the clerk who waited on me if anyone had turned in a wallet. There was very quick no. She quickly turned to avoid any further contact. It seemed strange. I went back to my car and immediately called my wife to have her cancel my credit cards, at which point she immediately called The Home Depot to ask if a wallet had been turned in. My wallet had been turned in .She went to pick it up. When I got it back, I checked the contents. All my credit cards, driver's license and other pertinent info was intact. The money I had, approx 160 dollars was missing, a five-dollar bill was left. I should be, and am grateful that may wallet was returned at all. But I would have been a lot more grateful if when the wallet was seen, and be returned to me intact and my money not stolen.
As the time passed being only a couple of minutes before I returned to retrieve the wallet, and the time to turn it in was only a few more minutes, I have my suspicions as to who removed my money. If you maintain camera surveillance over your checkout counter, you can either confirm or repute my suspicions. Either way, I am going to be very reluctant to shop at any Home Depot again and will probably do my trading at the local Ace Hardware store or the local privately-owned hardware store in our area where I know no one will steal from me.

When I called customer service all they said was that it was the state of the economy. Yes we are all in the same boat! So because no one is buying Home Depot decided to raise their rates even though I have a good rating, I pay more than the required amount and I pay ON TIME! My wife and I are doing some remodeling and we both were wanting one of the ceiling fans with the big leaf petals. The one we wanted was a little out of our price range, at the time so we decided to wait. Without telling my wife, I decided to sell one of my old shotguns to free up a little cash, so I could surprise her with the new ceiling fan when she returned from out of town. The price of the fan was $249.00 plus tax, which I honestly felt was a fair price to pay for such a nice add-on to the living room. I not knowing how to hang the fixture hired a neighbor who does home improvements for a living for the task.
After he removed the old fan and installed the new one, it did not work. After he tried and tried for over two hours to figure out what was wrong with the fan, he discovered that the fan it self was the problem. With the store closed and my wife soon to be home I asked him if he would consider fixing the fan if possible. He did find that what he called the common wire built in to the fan was not at all hooked up to the motor. It was a simple repair he declared and we were then able to fix the problem. I was very unhappy that my wife returned home to find us with the house a mess, and us still working. It really turned a nice surprise in to a nightmare both timely and emotionally. I am hoping that you will send this complaint to your quality control so that this can be prevented in the future. Thank you for taking time to hear of my experience, I hope it makes a difference.

Due to several communications with different individuals involved, I feel like I have been bent over the barrel. I was told that the spa had to run for 16 hours in order reach factory preset temperature. I followed enclosed instructions to the "T". After running 5 or 6 hours, it had only heated up 1 degree. I called back and asked if there was a heater for the unit. The QCA technician told me to get in touch with Spaguts.com to find a heater. I did, and spoke with a young lady by the name of Nancy. She told me to go to a website that sold in-line heaters.
According to what was found there I ordered from Homedepot.com the heater. Which I have since returned because it would not work on the spa as stated. I was supposedly given credit for the heater. More times than one over the last several months I have contacted the operator "0" to connect me with a department.
Then the sales associate I need to talk with on my issue may be with another customer and I request to hold. Guess what customer service or some other department associate will pick up and I go through the deal again why I am on hold; I may get transferred back to the original department or I could get transferred to another department I have no interest in, or worse get lost and have to call back again!! Phone communication is a vital link for customers who want to talk with a real person when they have a problem and I personally think Home Depot could have a better phone system installed in this store than they presently have.
They have a total line of good products, good in store customer service, good sales associates, good warranty services, and fair pricing. I received a Homelite MightyLite 26cc String Trimmer for Fathers Day, June '08. I used the mix of gas and oil recommended in the owners manual (1 gallon gas to 2.6 oz. oil). I used the trimmer exactly once. The second time I went to use it, it wouldn't start. I took it back to Home Depot where it was purchased and was told it would need to be sent away to be repaired. I pointed out that my wife had purchased an extended warranty and was told there wouldn't be a charge for repair.
I was called a month and a half later by Home Depot saying that the trimmer was ready and that there would be a $70 charge for repair. When I questioned this, I was told that the carburetor needed to be rebuilt because I had put bad gas in the machine. There is no way! We spent $100 dollars on a piece of crap and a warranty! Now Home Depot is not willing to stand behind their warranty or the product they sold us. I going to Lowe's from now on.

I was at Home Depot store in Flushing, NY in the morning of December 15, 2008. I went to returning desk, to return a box of welding material, electrodes cost of around $40. I am renovating my house for the last year, and may have spent thousand of $ at HD, also visiting the store quite often. I showed the receipt first and the employee of Home Depot at the return desk asked for another receipt since this one did not show in the computer. I claimed that was the only receipt I had, and kindly asked her to accept the item without the original receipt. This happens 99% of the time at home depot stores (based on my experience). She denied and called for a manager to make the final decision, upon my request.
One of the managers approached (I don't recall his name, Indian looking guy) and without hesitation he refused to accept the item without receipt. I was very surprised with his decision without giving it a second thought. I remember when he was coming toward us, he was using a negative body language so that he was prepared to say no in advance. I begged him once again, saying that in the past I was able to return items without receipt. He refused again. I asked why. He did say it was written in the Returning Policy.. While we were talking another funny looking young employee, with an ironic smile in his face, had joined us from the crowd of HD employees (which were having their morning calls few feet away).
He was so negative and jumped into conversation. I asked him to not intervene since I was dealing already with one manager. He kept saying things with his ironic look, his own way so I said, "Dan, you, what is your problem?" His name was Dan. He jumped off and out of the blue asked me to LEAVE NOW. He made deep eye contact and said it with a very low tone of voice such as to emphasize more his authority. I was looking at his lips and reminded scene of movies with gangsters being tough and very commanding. I was totally stunned.
I said firmly I was not about to leave without an apology and explanation. He claimed he will call the police, and this is what he did. I said, "Okay, why not call them if you desire so?" Meanwhile, other employees were gathered around me and ironically laughed and made fun of me when I totally lost myself and my English totally broke up. I was demanding by mumbling some broken English words. They laughed at me and some of them made Hurrah, or clapped, their hands. I felt surrounded, trapped, alone, among a bunch of uneducated HD employees which kept making fun of me until I left the store. I left them behind, and Dan was feeling and showing off like a hero, brave enough to kick me out of his store.
He kept following me with his killer smile, while moving only his lips, slowly, looking firmly in my eyes and kept saying: "Leave, leave now." I felt offended, very low. I felt unwelcome and deeply emotionally broken. My eyes got wet, my legs were shaking. I cannot explain my emotional distress. I will never forget his smile on his face. I will never be able to sleep without thinking of how bad I was treated, how low on the ground my dignity was thrown. I need justice to show these people, who treat customers as they think they are garbage.
I am an educated teacher, working for a Fortune 500 company. I am a family man who gives respect to people regardless of age, education or sex.. I demand justice, just justice.

My husband purchased an American Standard compact oblong toilet on Tuesday of this week. He is not a plumber, however, as handy as he is, was able to install successfully by himself. He went back Wednesday evening to purchase the same toilet for another bathroom. I don't have that person's name that he dealt with. My husband brought it home and started to install and saw that it was not the same toilet. He specified that he needed a 10 inch ruffin, but, the guy gave him the wrong toilet. Here it was 11:30 at night and after the install there was quite a bit of leaking. He had to take the toilet out and repack everything for return in the morning. He went back to Home Depot and was in the process of returning when a guy named Armand told him that by law, he cannot return a toilet. My husband explained that he was sold a wrong toilet last night and that he was NOT a plumber and did NOT know this so called law.
My husband tried to explain that Home Depot made a mistake in selling him the wrong toilet. This Armand called my husband a Liar. I am appalled by this kind of manner in which my husband was treated. My husband stopped at the Home Depot before he started his day at work, and this guy just kept giving him a hard time until eventually he decided to refund his money. He wouldn't even help my husband by seeing if another Home Depot had the toilet hookup that he needed. I know times are bad and people are stressed not knowing which way our economy is going, however, customer service is a very important part of this Armand's job. Home Depot has always had a stellar reputation. After all this aggravation, I think we will be forced to do our future shopping at Lowes. I look forward to hearing back from you regarding this.

For 2 months in a row Home Depot has assessed finance charges despite my having paid my revolving balance in full. They made an error the 1st time but apparently it takes 2 months to fully resolve the issue as the system assesses residual finance charges. Instead of acknowledging the error the 2nd time and explaining the above, the resolution specialist was arrogant and rude and proceeded to inform me that she would enlighten me on why the charges were assessed (incorrectly). Home Depot deliberately makes their statements very confusing so that customers will not be able to figure out what is revolving and what is promotional. A previous class action suit tried to address this but their tactics have not changed.

Hi! I went to Home Depot to buy a Christmas cactus yesterday, Dec 8th. They have a lot of Christmas greenery so I assumed they would have them, lots of colors to choose from and the price is usually really good @ Home Depot. Well, they didn't have ANY for this Christmas season! The clerk in the garden area said the new store buyer didn't order ANY! I was really surprised and disappointed because they have carried them in the past. I ended up going to a local nursery and bought exactly what I wanted, a beautiful white Christmas cactus for a great price.
I've read other 'complaints' regarding Home Depot, and I too have experienced not being able to find help - where are all the employees? The store is so big and impersonal, so the smaller hardware stores, nurseries, etc- are so much more of a positive shopping experience all around.

Home Depot advertised in the Az Republic on Thursday, Nov. 27, a 3-day sale which included a Dewalt 18-volt driver drill with two batteries and a charger for $99, which usually sold for $199. I went to the above Home Depot to purchase it today, Nov. 28. I was told by a salesperson that there were none left and that there were only a very few on sale to begin with. I asked for a rain check and was told that Home Depot didn't give them out. I then spoke to a manager who called a few other stores to try and locate one but was unsuccessful. I again asked for a rain check and was told that Home Depot does not give them out and there was nothing he could do. I believe that Home Depot should not have advertised this product for a 3-day sale and not had an adequate supply of the product. The salesperson I spoke to led me to believe that they knew there were only a handful of the drills to begin with. I am very angry that I wasted my time and gas to drive there and that the very least they could have done was offer me a rain check. I have spent a lot of money purchasing products from Home Depot. Now I will think twice and probably go elsewhere.

I visited Home Depot on Saturday, November 8th, 2008 approximately around 7:00 P.M. When I pulled into the parking lot- it seem like they were closed. It was hardly any customers in the parking lot or in the store. I went into the store to purchase a piece of Ply-Wood for a project that I was working on. The measurements of the ply-wood I needed measured 38 inches wide and 6ft long. First, I waited for assistance, I asked the cashier to call someone to help me. I waited another 5min or longer and I noticed an employee working in Lumber. He ignore the call as well as me standing there. The employee continued to stack lumber, and the cashier called again, now it's going on ten-minutes. Remember, the store was not busy.
Finally, another employee shows up and asked what I needed. I explained what I needed along with the measurements and he first made a sarcastic comment that his measurement tape or ruler didn't show the same as mine. (I didn't quite get what he meant). Next, he cuts the wood. I had the piece I needed along with 2 extra pieces left over from the cut. The sales person instructs me to go and get a shopping cart. I went and got a shopping cart, when I came back the salesperson was gone. I had to lift this big piece of wood into my shopping cart- plus the other extra pieces.
When I went outside to get a cart, I got a regular shopping cart. Which later I found out that I probably should have gotten an industrial cart, when I was struggling trying to get the wood into my cart getting splendors in my hand and on my clothes, of course I didn't get any assistance from anyone. So the salesperson, just cut the wood and left. Now, I struggle to the front of the store, and I told the cashier how I haven't been able to get any assistance and how I had plans of buying more - but I was totally not pleased with not getting anyone to help me. She quickly told me my purchase amount. She gets on the microphone and called someone for go backs. So, to me it seem like the cashier was not concern about my complaint, nor about me even choosing Home Depot as my choice of store to shop.
So, next I'm trying to push the cart out of the store. As I get to the door all of the wood falls off of the cart, on the ground. I continue to pull the large piece wood, all the way to my car. I struggle to lift it, and get it into my car, and now I get into my car and drive back to pick up the extra pieces that had fallen. I was so furious - at that point I made a solemn promise that I'll never shop at Home Depot again. I'm a female and I'm not one that can't do things for myself, but that was totally wrong to be treated like that. My business was not appreciated. Also, I had great difficulties in handling the wood. I go to the supermarket, and I can make a purchase of small items, and I'm asked if I need assistance to my car! Maybe Home Depot is not aware of the economic, and maybe they are so big time that they don't need sales but I would say this - IF WAS NOT FOR THE CUSTOMERS - IT'S NOT A NEED TO HAVE THE STORE OPEN!! Why hire employees that's not interested in working, we have unemployment at it's highest - get someone who wants to work.
Home Depot just lost me as a customer. This store is convenient to my home, and I'll shop where I'm valued most as a customer. I will drive 100 miles if need be. I get home call to speak with the store manager, and the person answered asked me to hold and later it went into a recording. I'm at work as I complete this complaint and I don't have my receipt that could give a little bit more information on the cashier, and the exact address of the store and phone number. I follow Wall Street reports, and the business section of the paper. I know for a fact that Home Depot earnings are not at a high that they don't need customers. I spent $13.00 and some cents on the ply-wood. But I needed paint, and really wanted to purchase on their electric fireplaces which cost approx. $700.00. I will never spend another penny in Home Depot.

The cabinets came in, not as ordered, and about half were returned. The store acknowledged the mistake on two separate occasions. The cabinets were then reordered. The store has continued to charge me for the cost of this reorder, even though I did not agree to pay for their mistake, and even though I never signed for the change order necessary. I would think that credit card companies would require proof that the sale was legitimate before debiting customer accounts. Contact with Monogram Credit Card Bank, the sponsor of the HD card has not been acknowledged. All changes to contracts are required to be signed by the customer. I have done this in the past with no problem. They did initially offer to split the difference with me, which may seem fair. However, I accepted about half of the cabinets NOT as ordered, in order to facilitate the use of my kitchen. The remainder of the order came in later.
After protesting for a couple of months, the store did credit us for the total amount. Then, it was put back on the bill. I have spoken to HD's Customer Care representatives ad nausem with no results. They take the call, act sympathetic, then never call back. This has been going on for months. The amount in dispute is about $3200 to correct their mistake.

I completed the first 2 wings of a quadrangle in 2 years. There is a lot of theft from building sites, so I arrange to rent the house to a person about to start construction. I required an electrical inspection prior to occupancy. I discovered the GE breakers did not fit the GE box. GE breakers are not available on Eleuthera. Both the inspection and rental agreement were cancelled. The house remained vacant, and about $6,000 of building materials for the other 2 wings were stolen.
THE WRONG BREAKERS WERE SHIPPED AGAIN. One of your Atlanta people was so appalled by your service, I was offered $150 compensation. I did not accept; I decided to sue. An intelligent employee in Atlanta said they would arrange to ship a breaker box to match the GE breakers I had. MIAMI SENT A SQUARE D BOX!!!
My lawyer said I was not likely to win against Home Depot. However, I hoped the publicity of a lawsuit would damage your reputation and sales. My lawyer convinced me not to start legal action at age 83. I suggest the following alternative: agree to sell $4,000 of building materials at cost and I will stop telling people to deal with anyone except Home Depot. We leave for Nassau on Oct 23 and require a response before that date.

We submitted the plan to the subdivision home association and were approved based on the measurements of the survey the plan for installation and the type of fence being installed. Ultimate Installation contacted us to set up an appointment for installation. People from Superior Fencing came out. They double checked the measurements against the survey (we provided another copy of the survey for reference).
On day one the crew put in fence posts. A few days later another crew came in and put up the panels. Everything looked OK with the exception that they moved one of our sprinkler heads without permission. We were able to fix that. Since everything looked OK, I signed off (we used my credit card). Next thing we know, a neighbor is complaining that his sprinkler system isn't working because he believes the installation people hit his line. Sure glad HD isn't our banker. What a mess. And, we've found the same type help from HD through the years.

I ordered two bathroom light fixtures and received them on 08-21-08. There were two light globes broken and I called on 08-22-08 to order replacements. I spoke to Tina and she assured me I would have the new globes within two weeks. Trying to be patient I waited until 09-15-08 and called to check on the globes. This time I spoke to a very helpful lady named Beverly. I was told that the globes had been incorrectly ordered. So, now we start over again with the order. I was told that a rush would be put on the order since it had been goofed up in the beginning. I had hoped the globes would arrive within the week with a rush since the normal time had been two weeks.
I called again today 09-22-08 to check the status on the replacement globes that originally came to me broken. I spoke to Amy and she informed me that the order had been forwarded to the manufacturer and that it would be at least another week. Yes, I am irritated. I have a new light sitting in the box for 6 weeks by the time its installed. No more online orders from Home Depot for me.
My time is valuable and one phone call should have cured the problem of receiving two broken globes. Instead I have now made three calls and the fixture is still in the box.

On September 3, 2008, My husband & I stood in line 4 1/2 hours to purchase a generator (PRIMAC S5000), we got it home it would not startup, he read the manual over & over again, he did everything that it said to do. On September 4, we went back to Home Depot only find that the line for people bringing generators back because they would not start was almost as long as the one for people buying them. It was an awful mess that day. They would not give refunds they would only exchange them for the same kind of junk.
We took that one home and had the same problem so we decided to go somewhere else to buy one, because we had been without electricity since the 1st our food had started spoiling in the deep freezer and the refrigerator/freezer. We bought an Ingersoll Rand for triple the price but, we knew it was going to work. We went back to Home Depot to let them know that we did not want the junk that they sold us and they still would not take it back and refund us. Home Depot's policy is that is left up to the store manager to give refunds and he still has not agreed to give us a refund.
We have spent so much time on the phone with them and in person and they are not budging. We are out $700 or $800 with a piece of junk that does not work.

Besides the poor customer service, avoid buying MasterBath bathroom cabinets like plague. In fact, avoid going to Home Depot for anything that they have to special order. It's not cheaper. Lead times are long. MasterBath products arrive incorrect and then you wait another 3 weeks for the replacement.
I wasted time and gas to pickup and then return the wrong product. My tenants demand a refund of their rent since they cannot use the bathroom sink. My contractor has to come back. The granite people cannot measure for the countertop. And the whole time HD has charged my purchase and taken my money.

Last month I got a letter from Citibank stating that my Home Depot Account was past due. I called to ask how it was since I had been set up since day 1 with Home Depot with a bill paying service to pay my bill? The cs rep stated that she did not know about any such service although my account did show that payments were made every month and that I had not had a late payment ever. She told me that she would waive the late fee as a courtesy while I investigated as to what happened.
However, I still had to pay the entire amount due which included the late fee for which I was no longer responsible. I went ahead and paid the amount due via phone check. I asked her to tell me from whom Citibank was receiving previous payments. She told me that she could not do that and wish me luck trying to find this information. I hung up thinking that all I had to deal with was finding the bill payer service. I went on line to check my account and discovered that I now owed two months of payments and two late fees in addition to the returned check fee.
I called and was told I gave the wrong account number. I told Emma that I repeated the account number to the girl after she had it wrong. I asked Emma to repeat this number to me. She did and needless to say, the first cs rep never changed the number. Emma said that as a courtesy, she would waive the late fee for this month and the returned check fee. I asked how this was a courtesy since neither should have been assessed in the first place. She got quite rude.
Then she asked me if I wanted to make the payment today. I told her that I would pay what I actually owed two months of payments. She told me that I could not do that- that I had to pay the full $100+ bill since I was required to pay up front all fees assessed. I said that I did not have that amount to pay this month. She told me that if I did not, I would be assessed another late fee. I asked for the name of the bill paying service that had been paying the bill. Both cs reps told me that they did not have access to that information but I could check with Home Depot.
I called Home Depot and they told me that I would have to speak to credit services. Needless to say I am flustered. I have been told that citibank no longer dealt with ebillers and that is why the company stopped paying but I did not receive this notice. Citibank really does run a scam of increasing profits through late fee assessment.
late fees, higher interest rate, additional payments being made

I waited at the service desk for 45 minutes to place a delivery for 100 bags of concrete. The young man that I thought was going to wait on me was apparently counting his till. And left me there and went home I complainted to the manager whom set up my order and attempted to smooth things over. I informed him at this time when I placed the order that I would be in jury duty and I needed the delivery department to call me to set up the delivery. Well on 9/10/20008 I received a voice message from the delivery person name Derrick that stated he just left my house there was no room for the delivery. He has now left the premises and if he returns I will be charged another delivery charge.
I then called the store to complain and spoke with a manager name Carlos whom took the delivery persons side. I then asked to speak with a another manager. I then spoke with a manager named Jim whom advised me my merchandise will be delivered on 9/10/2008 at 2:00pm. Around 2:30pm I callled Jim to complain about the situation that I still don't have my delivery at this time. He then confessed that they weren't going to be able to make the delivery today. That we were going to have to set up a new date. Well with hesitation I agreed to 9/14/2008. I just want to advise you this is not the firsty time I experience this negativety with this store. I am outraged by the way I was treated in this matter. I will inform people of the way I was treated.
