Horrible experience with Guardian. We purchased an electronic recliner from Bob's Discount Furniture in Alexandria, VA along with the extended warranty. Our recliner stopped working in August (2025) and we filed a claim. We have been blown off by Guardian concerning the repair process. Two months in (and no resolution). I would give no stars if I could. DO NOT BUY GOOF PROOF unless you want to waste money.

Guardian came through for us on a previous piece of furniture that we needed serviced and was covered under warranty. But now? I'm clueless as to what I even paid the 5-year protection premium for. Service (if any) has gone downhill in the last year. It has been over a month and I have yet to get a call back, email answered, anything from Guardian Protection Products. I went so far as going back to Bob's where I purchased my table and having them help reach out. It doesn't seem like they were successful either as it has been two weeks since then and we still cannot get a claim started or a simple email response. The chat feature on the website is disabled. No call back is made despite what the phone prompts say. It's a level of disregard I have never experienced from a business. I hope Bob's finds another company to fulfill their warranties because Guardian has done nothing but damage relationships with their customers.

I purchased a sofa from Bob’s Discount Furniture with a Guardian Protection Plan, thinking it would provide peace of mind in case of damage or defects. Unfortunately, this has been one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. When the frame of my sofa broke, I filed a warranty claim — it took over a month before anyone even responded. When a technician finally showed up, they quickly determined the couch couldn’t be repaired. Weeks later, Guardian sent me an email denying my claim, attaching the entire contract but providing no clear explanation for the denial.
This company completely failed on every level of communication and accountability. They offer no transparency, take weeks to respond, and leave customers with broken furniture and no resolution. I will be escalating this issue to the Better Business Bureau and filing a separate complaint against Bob’s, since they continue to sell Guardian’s so-called “protection plans” to unsuspecting customers. I strongly advise anyone considering Guardian Protection to think twice — they do not stand behind their warranty or their customers.

They have the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. They are taking their precious time in responding, giving inaccurate information, lied on the technician, and every time we talk to them, 5 more days has been added just to get an answer. I will never recommend nor use them ever again. I still have a non-functional sectional sitting in my living room with no replacement.

I called Guardian regarding a reclining sofa I bought from Bob's Discount Furniture in Scarborough, Maine. Bob's convinced me to purchase this extra protection. One side is stuck partially reclined as the motor died. I spent 1.5 hours on hold with the recording stating staffing shortage, please hold. I finally talked to someone who said they would be in contact. 3 weeks later someone called and wanted to do a video conference call to see the underneath of the sofa. The caller said to set up appointment at 6:00pm and they would be calling. No call until 6:40pm. Did video call and they said someone would contact me.
5 days later I received email saying within 5 days someone will contact me. 6 days later received another email stating someone would contact me within 5 days. I called Bob's to complain but they stated it was basically Guardian's issue. As it was purchase 18 months earlier warranty expired even though it says Bob's guardian goof warranty. I have since been calling guardian getting the runaround even though the motor on my sofa was broke and they agreed to fix it. These people are both unprofessional and incompetent. I will never purchase anything from Bob's or guardian again. Save your money as I have spent thousands of dollars in furniture from them. Future purchases will be from reputable furniture stores.

I purchased a 5-Year Guardian Residential Furniture Protection Plan in April 2023 with Ashley Furniture in Florida. On September 16, 2025, my couch experienced a sudden tear in the stitching while in normal use. This was a one-time tear and is covered under the plan language (“rips, cuts, punctures from a specific incident”). Guardian denied the claim, misclassifying it as “seam separation,” which is incorrect.

Just as everyone is saying Guardian is a complete scam and Goof Proof (Bob's) is a scam. I have stains on every cushion on my outdoor patio set. I tried to clean one of the cushions and the stain did not come out so I filed a claim. They said that since I tried to clean it, it voided the warranty and they also do not cover general soil. The stains are not general soil if they will not come out with cleaning and a wetvac. I also requested a contact to file a formal complaint and they said they "understand my frustration but I will receive no more responses." How can you legally deny someone a contact to file a complaint? I'll be contacting the BBB and 7 News or whatever other channel I need to, to bring this company to light and how much of a scam they are.

So my L shaped sectional has needed a general cleaning and a part to the recliner since June 2025. I have called so many times on an update and they kept telling me that they were reaching out to the retailer and it is 9/3/2025! By the way if you bought furniture from the room place know that they are no longer in business since 4/2025. So they knew this the whole time and was waiting it out until I figured it out. Now they are “promising” me that they are going to update me by the end of this week about a replacement.

Guardian Protection and the staff have been absolutely terrible to work with. I waited nearly 2 months with 0 resolution. I unfortunately had to move which ended with the furniture frame breaking and injuring someone. I was told that because I was unable to move the dangerously broken couch to my new home that I was not eligible for any type of support. They tried to justify a 30 day wait for an appointment with a technician and a 3.5 week wait for the technician to submit his report which is very unacceptable when I had been told multiple times the wait was only 2-5 business days. I do not recommend anyone purchasing insurance through Guardian.

I am absolutely furious with Guardian (Bob’s Goof Proof). I raised a ticket back in June because my dog urinated on a back cushion, leaving both a stain and a terrible odor. The cushion has been completely unusable ever since. It’s now been over 2 months and still no resolution. They sent someone to clean it, but the stain and smell never came out. The technician even admitted he couldn’t fix it and said Guardian would need to provide me with a replacement cushion. Instead of honoring that, Guardian is now telling me the technician has to come back again and “keep trying to clean it.”
This is beyond ridiculous. I paid for this insurance to cover situations exactly like this, and it has proven to be a complete waste of money. The policy covers nothing, helps in nothing, and fixes nothing. Having to wait nearly three months for something so simple is unacceptable. I want my replacement cushion, not endless delays and false promises. Do not waste your money on Guardian/Bob’s Goof Proof — the service is useless, and the customer experience is infuriating.

Guardian is a scam. Shame on Ashley Furniture for selling this warranty on their products under the guise of “it covers almost everything”. We purchased the warranty in 2021 on a leather reclining living room set. In 2024 the in arm Mobile phone chargers/phone holders started going out one by one. It started with a burning electrical smell, followed by smoke. We submitted a claim online with Guardian and were denied because they pulled the incorrect warranty from another purchase of ours at Hank’s. After explaining this to them they found the correct warranty. A month in we were scheduled to have a tech come out. Twice the tech cancelled and we had start over. This is now 2 months in and so then we had to do a virtual inspection. This took another month in which Guardian said it was approved.
A week later we received an email stating our claim was denied as there was no evidence that the warranty covered our issue. The best part is that the issue they denied wasn’t the issue we were claiming. In the midst of this happening, our phone charger on the stand alone recliner started smoking and then flames shot out of the housing of the phone holder in the arm of the chair. When I called Ashley and Guardian to report that their furniture was prone to causing a fire, I was told that it wasn’t covered. I’m just glad we were home when it happened. At this point we are getting rid of the furniture and purchasing new furniture from a different store who does not use Guardian. Do not purchase a warranty from Guardian and do not purchase anything with an in arm phone holder/charger from Ashley Furniture.

This insurance company keeps the customer in loop for months. I have opened a claim in May and I am still in August calling and asking about the results of my claim. They sent twice the technician to check my sofa and both times she had the same answer that your sofa needs to be replaced. But, after two weeks of the 2nd visit they sent me an email that the technician is reported the amount of stain is in your sofa is not cleanable and it’s not covered by our policy. It’s such a shame for them. I won’t purchase and won’t recommend this insurance to anyone. It will insure to give you headaches but won’t cover anything at the end of the day. Don’t waste your money.

I purchased a warranty on a recliner with Guardian, the chair back was loose, they sent a repair company that said they wanted to replace the reclining mechanism. Waited 4 months for a part and when it was installed they never put the tension springs on the new mechanism which caused the chair to recline too far, get hung up on two bolts, bend the bolts, and hindered the footrest from returning to its position. A loose chair back, not the end of the world, but this damage has rendered the recliner useless. Guardian ignored that the company they selected for repairs caused further damage and offered me a voucher for a new chair up to the price I paid or a low ball cash settlement that wouldn’t even cover labor let alone a new part. This is inline with the warranty contract, but they are basing this on what I reported and ignoring that the repair company caused worsening issues.
My problem with the voucher is the chair is $100 more now to replace, shipping is not included, warranty that still has over 3 years left on it is non transferable. Which would be fine if the repair company would not have caused further damage. All I’m asking for is repairs and/ or put the original part back in and I’ll deal with the loose back. They lie and tell the BBB they have contacted you and are working with you. They contacted once by email giving me a 30 day deadline to accept their offer told they will close the claim. Had another brand new rep call me who didn’t answer any questions I had, so I asked to speak to someone who could answer my questions and she initially refused and basically told me the offer is final and eventually she said I’ll have someone else call you and abruptly disconnected.
Another rep called me and left a general 800 #, I called back could not speak to the rep who left the #, had to repeat all of this and then was asked to hold after that rep took my number in case we were disconnected, and what do you know we were, but she did not utilize the number to call me back. I guess this is their idea of “working towards resolution”. Such a shame! FYI- they have a class action lawsuit against them.

Bought the 5 year warranty when purchased a couch from Bob's Furniture. Year three had an issue with arm reset and cushion. The third party technician came out to look at couch and said that it would be covered under warranty and the warranty department would call in 3 days to schedule repair. Day 10 I called warranty department and got a run around and after an hour on phone and talking to 2 different representatives I was told it was not covered. Even though it clearly says in warranty it was. Still trying to get it resolved. It appears they keep passing responsibility around so they don't have to fix it.

This is the worst warranty company ever. You can't reach a person on the phone and they keep referring you to different websites. Three different locations and I have to email and send a video and pictures. And then they go ahead and say they'll respond after reviewing and it takes months to get it done. Then they schedule a person without even asking if you're going to be home. But they don't inform the technician of the product that needs to be repaired over replaced and they don't have it. Then you wait weeks and find out and spend the night. And then they mix it up with somebody else's order and it gets denied. So you appeal it, and you have to wait for a response and it still gets denied. Why should I pay someone to repair something that's covered under a warranty that I paid for when I bought the product? I think a class action lawsuit should take place looking at all the other dismal reviews given.

I purchased a recliner in 2023 with a 5-year warranty. On July 5, 2025 I called Guardian made a claim for a small (1/2 inch) tear I put in the chair seat. The representative took all my information & I had to scan the pictures, warranty, purchase rescript, which was done. I was told someone would get back to me. I recalled Guardian on 7/18/25 only to be told the original claim was never reported or processed. I gave the same information to the new rep., along with relative attachments who assured me my claim was filed. I was informed it would take 3/5 business days to process.
I called again on 7/30/25 only to be told the company was looking for someone in my area to fix my chair. Again, I was informed it would take 3/5 business day to get someone to fix my chair. At this point I am fed up with Guardian and Bel Furniture. The $149.00 I spent was not worth all trouble I am having to get my chair fixed. I then filed the claim online and was informed that it would take up to 10 days for them to respond. I then sent them an email and informed them that this chair is not for convenience, it is a medical necessity. I'm a Vietnam Veteran and have Parkinson's due to agent orange and it affects my balance. I see they respond to complaints and say to send them a private message, but no instructions about how to do this. I have the furniture store sending a tech tomorrow but this is at my expense. I agree with other consumers that this “protection” plan/insurance is a joke. We purchased a dining room set and a sectional from mega furniture, and purchased this protection plan for $200. Our claim for the dining room set was denied because they said chips were not covered even though their pamphlet says “breakage of wood from a specific incident” is covered. Then our claim for the sofa was denied because the tear is at the seam, even though their pamphlet says “rips from a specific incident” is covered. If there are so many restrictions, you can basically deny every claim for obscure reasons, so you are basically collecting money from consumer and not giving them any protection. I would warn for the consumers out there to think really hard before you purchase the protection plan from Guardian.

Ever since I purchased this protection plan on my 3 piece sectional it has been a joke. I first filed a claim after a year for the zipper coming apart under the cushion. They denied the claim because they said hardware and accessories such as hinges, drawer glides, buttons etc. are not covered. I recently filed a claim for accidentally dropping a pair of scissors puncturing a rip in the seam of my sofa. I'm now being denied because they said because the rip was in the seam it's not covered. They said the specific damage is not covered under my Guardian Protection Products plan Terms and Conditions.
My protection plan does not cover stress tears; seam separation/slippage; loose threads. But they tell me to read my product specific coverage that states, Rips, cuts, punctures or burns from a specific incident are covered. Nowhere does it states that it can't happen in the seam. They wouldn't cover the foam insert and said they would replace the cover after not one but two different techs came out to the house. THEN, after a couple months there was still no replacement sent out. When I called them and told them (after going back and forth between them and Ashley), they said if I don't receive it in 90 days, call them. And then, minutes later (you can't make this up), they sent me an email requesting more pictures and that if they don't get those in 30 days the ticket will be closed. These people are unreal!! I filed 3 claims (unrelated, on 2 diff pieces of furniture, at diff times). They needed more pics for one of the claims. I called in and explained that I could quite get a pic of the entire rug. I was advised to take the pics I could and reply to the email with them, which I did. I then had a surgery and wasn’t on top of the issue. When I didn’t hear anything for a long time, I called again. Turns out I had replied to a “no reply” email (but again, did what I was instructed thinking maybe it was an email that could be checked but wasn’t necessarily assigned to anyone and she was going to go in and grab the pics). Was them given another email to forward them to. I asked why I hadn’t heard anything on the other two claims and was told that they bundled them together (three unrelated claims).
I forwarded my pics and included the email to the no reply since I was now out of the window to submit, thinking they’d see I had attempted. They denied all three of the claims. I called because it’s wrong to deny two unrelated claims that your company chose to bundle and lump into one. The lady was super rude and unhelpful, talking over me, refused to escalate the call, refused to even use logic as to how you deny claims that aren’t even related to the one with the supposed “late submittal”. Being that they could see I did submit it, and that it was within the time frame, and pull a recorded call and hear I was instructed to do so, you would think they would have been more customer facing. If I had it to do over, I would not purchase their less than mediocre service. I emailed asking for a supervisor to reach out and still have heard nothing. 100% dissatisfied.

We went back to Ashley and they told us to file a claim with Guardian. Guardian has a very confusing website. They turned down the claim, saying that the damage was normal wear. I filed a new claim, and they rejected it saying it was a prior claim. I called them and they said that if we filled out the claim form incorrectly it could not be refiled. Basically, they are THIEVES.

These guys are such scammers. I bought the extra warranty through Ashley's Furniture store. The fabric does say it's covered in the list they gave me and still they didn't fix it. They gave me the runaround for a month. The tech that came out said, "I'll order the part and be back in 2 weeks." Then they said that the photos the tech sent proved the couch was manufactured correctly and stable. I never got anyone that spoke English. The tech never came back out to fix the couch. I'm currently looking into a lawyer to sue them for breach of contract.

The website doesn't update details, they are unreachable via email, and the phone number plays a recorded message saying to wait 4 more business days. We purchased the warranty on our livingroom furniture set when we purchased it from Bob’s Furniture. The associate who sold it to us assured me several times that ANY damage to our set would be covered under warranty. I made sure to clarify as we do have children and pets and things tend to get damaged. He told me several times that anything would be covered. We filed a claim several months ago after the wooden frame on the chair broke internally, and several of the cushions on the sofa and loveseat have become oddly shaped and sagging. It took several weeks to hear back about them sending another company out to “inspect the furniture”. The first date arrived and we rep told they had to cancel because the worker couldn’t make the appointment.
Finally, another several weeks later, he arrived, stayed for 5 minutes and left. We were told he would submit all documentation for needed repairs on our set. We got an email finally from Guardian with two options to “settle” the problem. Neither option is acceptable. The first option is a “replacement voucher” for the broken chair but we would need to pay out of pocket for shipping. The second option is a $130 cash offer. Absolutely ridiculous to buy furniture with a warranty and then the company who is responsible for fulfilling the warranty won’t offer a decent solution! They didn’t even bother the address the other damaged pieces of furniture. Will never buy furniture from Bob’s again nor will we ever get a warranty with this company. Incredibly unprofessional and dishonest.

Updated on 06/17/2025: UPDATE: I submitted my information as they requested to further look into this matter. It has been over a month and no response after I sent it privately. I think they just say something to look good via public but then do not follow up on what they said they would privately.
Original Review: I bought this warranty through “The Room Place.” It took about a year for them to say they couldn't fix my couch. The motor broke, and the footrest was stuck up (still is). That whole process was a disaster. Took FOREVER. I settled for a gift card for the amount of the couch (3/22/25). In the meantime, The Room Place was closed in my local area, and the closest place to go was about an hour away. They only gave me 30 days to claim this gift card. I didn't see that email for about a week. I got really sick and was so tired that I had no energy to shop for furniture. I'm feeling better now and went to check on my gift card via email to go this weekend. I noticed it had already expired at the end of last month. They couldn't do anything besides offer me $89.99 credit for the warranty I purchased.
My gift card was worth over 3.5k. They said they couldn't do anything for me since The Room Place went out of business on 3/25/25. I highly DO NOT recommend this company. I'm sure they are ripping off people left and right. How can I be so accommodating for them taking so long, and when something out of my control happens, they can't help me? I'm a business owner, and this is a poor way to run a business. I'm very disappointed and mad.

Since they couldn't fix it with the little bottle of spray the technician brought, they determined they won't cover it. I will not be purchasing furniture protection again.

Denied because we have dogs who get on the couch. I called to dispute the claim because in addition to the three rips we also have several areas that have rubbed very short amount of time. I was told to resubmit with no mention of having pets. So I did that and I get a response that reads "This claim is denied because it is the same as a previously submitted claim."
So, I call to inquire. I am told that once a claim has been denied, it cannot be resubmitted. I informed the person I spoke to that. I was told by somebody there to resubmit it. She continued to repeat the same thing to me over and over. I asked her if I had submitted this claim the first time and just said have rips, need them fixed, what have it been covered? The policy needs an “incident” to be covered. But if she says she jumped on the bed, they would say she damaged it on purpose. At no time did the sales associate mention the limited protection offered by the Goof Protection plan. This was very misleading.
What’s particularly infuriating is that when you call Bob's Furniture, you can select the option to report “accidental damage” by pressing 3. Here's what annoyed me. Up until the technician came out, I was able to communicate with Guardian by Email. The email they sent to say the claim was denied suddenly had this at the bottom of the email: "**This email box is not monitored. To make matters worse, it seems my phone and my husband’s are blocked. I know this because it would automatically go to voicemail saying the line is busy, and I verified this on my daughter’s phone when it said otherwise. Once called, they have you on hold for hours on end, just to be rude and abruptly end the call. Save your money, this company has 1 stars for a reason!

Updated on 03/11/2025: Received a call today letting me know that because I didn't break down the details in my original claim on the chair they wouldn't even listen to me. She was very short and rude with me and I will be filing a complaint with the BBB as well. Do not purchase their protection. They will find any reason to deny it and once it is denied they will no longer help you.
Original Review: I have been dealing with them for over a month. They tried calling me once on March 4th and left me the general phone number to call back. I called back and left my number again for a call back. Almost a week later and surprise surprise no call back. The protection is a scam. Accident or not they can close a claim and refuse to open it or have a manager call.

Don't waste your money buying this "warranty". I turned in a claim, got it approved and learned that Bassett no longer makes the sofa (that I had to make a claim on). The retailer encouraged me to call Guardian to see what could be done for a replacement sofa. I called from the store, waited over an hour on the phone, was transferred to numerous people who did not speak clear English. I was finally told that an account specialist would call me to discuss resolution within 72 hours. That was three weeks ago. I have still not gotten resolution. I believe that Guardian wants to make this so tough for me that I will give up and they don't have to resolve my claim. I am seriously considering getting my State Attorney General involved in this matter.

I called to further explain my failure and I received the run around with no call back. In fact, I showed the claims department the actual brochure that Bob's gave me when I purchase this protection plan and it clearly states: "Breakage of frames, springs...." How can a company operate like this. I included a screen shot of my document.

Guardian's warranties are a scam. I purchased two reclining sofas and filed a warranty claim when the first one broke last year. I was told that the warranty would not cover the repair because I was supposed to report the problem within one week of the furniture breaking.
Now the second sofa has broken and this company is looking for another way to avoid paying for the repair. First, I sent the required information to them within 2 days of the sofa breaking, and then I didn't not hear anything back from them for 3 weeks and that was only because I reached back out for a status update. At that point, I was told that I needed to send in another photo. (Surely someone could have emailed that info to me without waiting for me to follow-up on the status.) I sent the additional photo. Now I've received an email saying that this claim is denied because it was filed before. NOT ACCURATE. This is a new claim for the second sofa, a piece of furniture that is also under warranty. All of this is made more frustrating because there are no humans to answer their customer service line.

We were told it is not covered because it is normal wear and tear. Well, we have owned several other recliners over the years and never had this happen. I do not consider this to be normal. We purchased couches from American Freight in 2021 along with a 5-year Guardian Warranty, expecting peace of mind for any potential issues. Unfortunately, this experience has been frustrating and disheartening, and we are now left with furniture that is literally falling apart. In 2023, the recliner from our set broke, and we filed a claim. A repair technician came out, assessed the issue, and assured us he could fix it. However, we never saw him again. In the meantime, Guardian sent an email (which we later found in our spam folder) with repair options. We reasonably assumed the technician would return to complete the job, as no follow-up phone call or other direct communication clarified otherwise.
While waiting, the loveseat’s back and legs began to malfunction as well—these pieces are now collapsing. We filed another claim with photos of the damaged items. Again, Guardian sent a response via email, which also went to the spam folder. Adding to this frustration, my husband was in a car accident and underwent two surgeries during this time, so continuously monitoring a spam folder was not a priority.
When we spoke to Guardian customer service, we were instructed to refile the claim to address all the furniture issues. We followed their instructions, only to receive notice that our claim was denied because we had already filed a prior claim. This is unacceptable. Guardian and American Freight are failing to uphold their obligations under the warranty. The lack of follow-up via phone or other direct communication is suspicious and appears to be a deliberate tactic to avoid fulfilling their responsibility. This behavior feels predatory and amounts to a scam.
We demand immediate action to repair or replace our damaged furniture, as stated in the warranty agreement. If this matter is not resolved promptly, we will pursue additional action, including filing complaints with state consumer protection agencies and considering legal options. This situation has been exhausting and stressful, and we will not tolerate further delays. 1 email per claim is the multiple attempts. See pictures.

During the purchase of any item from Bob's Furniture you will be asked to purchase this warranty. The sales person will be very pushy about it. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS. All Bob's Furniture comes with a year warranty. After that, their service call price is around $90.00. I highly suggest the latter as the warranty can cost up to 300 dollars and covers nothing. I tried to submit a claim on a couch that suddenly broke after 4 years of normal use. Nothing crazy, just sitting. They denied my claim as the warranty doesn't cover the frame. It also will not cover anything unless you specificity say it is accidental and even then they will weasel their way out of providing any services.

I trusted Guardian Insurance to cover my furniture protection plan when I purchased my items from Bob Discounted Furniture in April 2022. However, when I filed a claim (Claim Number: **) for defects on both my coffee table and sectional sofa, the claim was denied. The coffee table began showing discoloration and spontaneous paint peeling, while the sectional sofa developed widespread lint on the fabric, lost cushion firmness, and faded color—all occurring under normal use and careful handling. The outright rejection of my claim, despite these clear defects, has left me questioning the value and reliability of Guardian Insurance’s coverage. I strongly advise anyone considering their protection plans to think twice, as my experience clearly demonstrates a lack of genuine customer support and accountability.

Upon reviewing "THEIR" contract under the exclusion it does NOT list zippers as an exclusion...it does outline specifically what's not covered...nowhere did it mention zippers. As I'm trying to explain to the Rep. this is a legal binding contract...and they just can't make up words as it fits their advantage. This has been a total nightmare.
This is the second time dealing with GPP with them denying a claim. I purchased insurance from Guardian, but when I tried to use it just days before my contract ended, I was met with frustration. After initial delays, a repair person finally arrived, inspected the issue, and promised to order the necessary part. However, instead of following through, Guardian sent an email stating that the motor was functional and therefore, they couldn't assist further. They also claimed the remote wasn't covered. The entire process was marred by poor communication, with weeks-long gaps between emails. Despite paying over $400 for the insurance, I received little to no support. Based on my experience, I would advise against purchasing insurance from Guardian, as they seem unwilling to honor their commitments.

Bought an expensive policy to cover my home that was for sale. Right before closing, there was an unexpected issue that needed repair. You can't even get these guys on the phone! They are closed all weekends, and use basically bank hours. I was told, finally, that, of course, my issue would NOT be covered. What a surprise. They are happy to promise you good coverage and collect money, but deny any claim you have. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS.

This is a complete scam! I filed a claim for my sectional sofa purchased from American Freight, which started peeling within a year of use. This wasn’t a cheap sofa—it cost over $1,000. When we bought it, we were assured by American Freight that their warranty would cover any issues. However, when I filed a claim for accidental tears, they denied it, saying the peeling was not due to an accident but was happening on its own. This is ridiculous! It seems their warranty is just a scheme to take people’s money without offering any real protection.
Our hard-earned money does not come easily, and this experience has been nothing but frustrating. I strongly recommend that others do not purchase their warranty. They will find every excuse to deny your claim, and even if approved, you’ll have to jump through endless hoops. To make matters worse, their customer service can be extremely rude when you try to advocate for yourself. Save yourself the headache and avoid this warranty at all costs!

Totally dissatisfied with the way this whole case was handled. First It took a very long time for the technician to come out here. He was here for 2 seconds and now they're telling me that this piece is not covered under warranty, then what did I pay all this money for??? It was a simple switch that you would think would be a standard under warranty piece, especially when that couch rarely ever got used. I would never ever again use them. 😠

This is, by far, one of the worst companies I've had to deal with regarding a warranty service. I purchased a sectional with this warranty insurance from Rooms To Go and have had nothing but issues with it since the purchase. I've had one piece of the sectional replaced under my warranty, but because Guardian does their claims on each separate piece of the sectional, my other 2 claims for the remainder of the sectional pieces have been denied and closed. Calling and speaking to a rep at Guardian is basically just Groundhog Day at this point because I get the same answers over and over and no resolution.

I call them to report damage and they said file with Guardian and tell them is separated at the seam and it'll be covered. Guardian denied the claim saying that is manufacturer warranty and not covered. Tried to let them know it was a rip but taking advice from room place, no luck. Basically said too bad. Room place said submit a new claim after 30 days. It's pending but if not covered I will be suing to get the money for the plan back, and the room place for lying during sales process. Luckily I have proper documentation and a recording of the sales associate explaining the warranty.

I believe getting insurance is supposed to get you relaxed but this goof poof plan will just get you extremely stressed out and I would consider it an unreliable plan to get as they will basically dismiss your claim if you file a claim a second time for the same issue on the same couch. So I filed a claim in 2023 for an issue on my couch and it was screwed back or whatever was done, now 2024 less than 12 months, I have filed another claim for the same issue that was supposedly fixed in 2023 and I am told they can't do anything on my claim because I already filed that claim in 2023, well if they got the issue fixed properly the first time maybe I won't have to file a claim.
Also, they made sure I had to call their phone number and nothing was even done after or during the call and I insisted to speak to a supervisor and I was told no supervisor available and that a supervisor will call me in 24/48 hours. It's now almost a month and haven't received any calls from gppclaim supervisor. I don't even want to talk about my other claim which has been thrown to the trash. Also, I just realized while writing this review that they have even closed my claim/ service request while I was thinking they would still call even after now 20 days (funny). Well, I have considered legal options but again I think it just best for me to stay away from them even if it's to avoid their headaches.

Updated on 12/30/2024: This company is horrible. I did send a private response and they have not reached out to me to work out a so called "positive resolution." To the contrary, I get continuing pre-fab emails that say the same thing over and over, that they are sorry this is taking so long and they are trying to resolve the issue. All they had to do was find someone to clean my couch, that is not hard to do. At this point, I plan to call the furniture store I bought this worthless plan from and tell them what happened. This company is a scam, do not buy their so-called warranty unless you enjoy wasting your money. Should they reach out to me and fix this, I will be sure to post and let you all know. But I don't expect anything positive to come from this company.
Original Review: Dealing with this company has been and continues to be a nightmare. I had a plan that was supposed to cover stains to my couch. I specifically bought this particular couch because the furniture store said the material was very dog friendly and was covered by a good protection plan. When I filed a claim because of a dog related stain, first they rejected it for no reason, so when I complained they decided to cover it. Then, they took a long time referring this to someone in my area who could come clean my couch. They finally found someone or so they said, but I never heard from that company.
I finally called them myself, the company that was to come clean the stain, turned out it was some guy who does do cleaning, but he said he couldn't get the Guardian website to work and couldn't get information on how he would be reimbursed. I called him multiple times and he told me he tried to call Guardian but no one ever called him back. I had wanted this taken care of before Christmas and my initial complaint was filed mid-November but before Thanksgiving. I finally told the guy who has the cleaning company here that Guardian is a HUGE SCAM COMPANY, and have made arrangements for him to come clean my couch and I will have to pay him since he NEVER heard back from Guardian.
Not to mention when you call Guardian they force you to repeat in each call what piece of furniture you are calling about, when you bought it, what my address is, do I want to be contacted by email or text, every single time, you can't just give them the ticket number which is also ridiculous. So now I have to pay myself for the couch to get cleaned and what a waste of money and time to deal with Guardian.

I'll never get another extended warranty through Guardian again. The runaround was over a month. They even sent a technician out to my home and he told me he would order the part and when I receive it, call them back to schedule the repair. Weeks later, Guardian told me the claim is denied because they already replaced the sofa once, and I should've purchased ANOTHER warranty for the replacement. What a joke of a business. I ended up finding out on Reddit that you can repair it yourself. Ended up ordering the reclining handle with cable from Amazon and repaired it myself for $12.00. Guardian lost a customer and anyone I tell my story to over TWELVE DOLLARS.
Thank you for reaching out. We're sorry to hear that your new sofa is now damaged. However, as it was a replacement and has already fulfilled the terms of the plan, we are unable to offer additional coverage at this time as there was no purchase of a new protection plan.

I literally just got off the phone with Guardian, for the 4th time this morning. My daughter told me that something was wrong with her bed. I went into her room and took off the mattresses. I noticed that the one of the side rails was split. It was barely hanging on (I don't know how it wasn't broken all the way through). I decided to call guardian. Boy was that the wrong answer. I called the first time, and the gentleman said that he needed the order #. He said that he saw a couple of purchases, but neither one had a bed on it. He told me to call the store and ask for the order number. I did that three times (calling the store to verify that the invoice number is the same as the order number and calling Guardian with the required number). On each occasion, I was told the same thing.
The fourth time I called, I just asked to speak with a manager. The lady wanted to help, but I was so fed up that I just wanted to speak with a manager. After waiting on the hold for about 10 minutes, she returns and tells me that someone will call me back some time. I'm like, okay, some time in the next hour, some time today, or what? I wish I could give them zero stars. I purchased goof proof after buying reclining couches from Bob's Furniture. The mechanism that keeps the recliner from going back all the way broke. We don’t jump on our furniture or mistreat it and they told me it wasn’t covered. The recliner is 3 years old, it was a waste of money as was the goof proof. Also didn’t appreciate the mansplaining I was going to get over the phone by the rep. I never purchase warranties and this is the perfect example of why. I’m disgusted with Bob's Furniture and with the goof proof junk I purchased.

After several months of back and forth, I was finally able to get it touch with a supervisor. 48 hours later and my claim is resolved and I am happy with the results.
Original Review: Oct. 30, 2024
We moved into our new home in September 2023, and ordered an entire house worth of new furniture from Bob’s. Now in October 2024, slightly over one year later, multiple items are failing. I paid over $500 for Goof proof protection and have been emailing with them back and forth for over a month now. Every few days they’ll ask a question, or ask for more photos, or call me to ask once again for the exact dates that the breakage happened. It almost feels like they’re trying to “catch me” saying something that’s not covered in their protection plan.
Now mind you, we move quite a bit and this is the 5th house that we have furnished completely in Bob’s. I have never had to file a single claim with them before, and so I somewhat assumed that this process would be honest and easy. I also understand that Guardian's business only survives by denying claims, if every single claim was approved they wouldn’t be profitable. But here’s an example of a specific piece of furniture and how frustrating the process was in case you’re thinking of going down the same path:
I ordered 2 “Diva” nightstands for either side of the master bed. After a little over a year, the lighting mechanism on one of the nightstands broke. We only live in this house part time and maybe use the lighting fixture a few hours every night we are here. I would consider that very light usage. I filled out the form, attached pictures, and sent the claim in. About a week later, I receive an email saying that the claim has been received and they are working on finding an appropriate tech to send to my house. Now, a week after that, I received an email stating that I have 2 options. Take a check for $97.00 mailed in 6 weeks time, or get a Bobs certificate in the amount of $299 emailed to me in 5 days. The nightstand now costs $350 plus tax and delivery. So essentially a new nightstand would cost me over $100 out of my own pocket.
If I had to advise anyone on furniture and protection plans, I say skip Bob's and Guardian entirely. Bobs used to be my favorite decorating secret, the furniture was such good quality you would never know it came from a discount store. Now the quality has gone so far downhill, I have cracked frames on sofas and broken nightstands after one year. And their prices aren’t any more reasonable than other reputable stores.

Scam. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PROTECTION!!!! The plan is not useful as it does not cover components of your furniture that will most likely become damaged. I bought sectional about 4 years ago. It was expensive purchase. Submitted the claim. They responded, "The specific damage is not covered under your Guardian Protection Products plan Terms and Conditions. Your Protection plan does not cover failure in loss of foam." So, overall this “so called“ warranty is a waste! Due to my experience I do not recommend this company.

I bought leather sofas from Bobs in 2022 and bought this goof proof plan. 3 weeks back one recliner ended up with a stain from the "peloton" shirt that my son was wearing. I called Guardian and made a claim and told that I think it's caused by the shirt, but was not sure. Because first I thought how could the shirt cause a stain. I wish I could have recorded my claim conversation. Guardian rejected my claim saying they will not cover because I did not know how the stain is caused. This is ridiculous. The stain clearly shows dye marks. Later my son confirmed that it was caused by his shirt. He sent me pictures of the shirt.
This is accidental stain damage, which should be covered. The sofa is inside my living room. Why would I not care about my own sofa in my own home. I do not have any Pets. Just because I said "I was not 100% sure", they rejected the claim. I even gave proofs later with pictures of the shirt, that caused the stain and reached out to Guardian for review. They still rejected it stating the same reason. This is a clear rip off. They are just avoiding to service or probably they are sure that they can not take out the stain. I wish I could have read Google reviews, before buying this Goof proof. Utter unprofessional company. I am so unhappy. I am vey disappointed. Look at the pictures and you can find that it's caused by that Shirt.

Bought a couch from American Freight and was suggested to purchase the insurance as a “warranty” in case something were to happen to the couch. Now that something has happened, they want to hide behind the fine print details, (which, might I add limits everything in their coverage to anything that you may need fixed). Breakdown is covered after the manufacturer's warranty has expired."
Four years later, the USB ports on both side of the couch are broken, one completely doesn't work and the other glitches constantly. I submitted for a claim and was rejected because Guardian says that the electronic components were only covered by the manufacturer. I feel like I was used. I paid the +$100 to cover this couch during the pandemic when times were hard and continue to be, and now I've learned that no one will cover my broken couch. So I literally threw my money away. DO NOT PURCHASE! This is a scam. Our power recliner (purchased from Bob's Discount Furniture) failed while we were raising it from a reclined position using the side button (as intended). Filed a claim, which was denied for the following reasons (verbatim from Guardian's reply): 'The plan's Terms and Conditions do not cover damage that occurs during the normal, intended use of the furniture. Examples of this include, but are not limited to, sitting on your chair/couch, or sleeping on your bed.' Seriously?? As ridiculous as this already sounds, it gets better... There is nowhere in the warranty (which they so helpfully attached to my claim) stating that 'intended usage' isn't covered. I've attached a photo of the section of what's "Not Covered". Go ahead and see if you can find it, I certainly couldn't.
This is NOT normal wear and tear, this is a very specific incident that did not happen as a result of normal breakdown over time. If you so desire, you can read about the differences here: **. I reached back out requesting someone get in touch to help point out where in the warranty language it states non-coverage. After several days and multiple attempts at contacting them, I have yet to hear back and I get the impression that I won't since my claim is now closed. Stay far away from this company, what they are doing is outright theft.

We bought a $1500 couch from Bob's Furniture who assigns Guardian Protection. We bought the protection because we have young kids and I wanted to keep my $1500 investment protected. We had an accidental rip on the chaise side. We filed the claim in August. A few weeks later we had an accidental spill by a permanent black marker on one of the cushions. The Tech they assigned to came to our house. Spent less than 2 minutes to take pics and when I asked him will he treat the stain. He said, "No. I'm here just to take pics and make my report." I don't know what he reported but the Guardian agent whoever these group of crooks who are do called account representatives emailed us and said, "We got the report from the tech and your claim is denied because there are no rips and there is no stain."
I'm dumbfounded by their response. They just deny every claim without any real reasoning behind their decision making and there is no one you can speak to when they close the claim. They just give you a generic response, "Sorry the account rep had closed the claim." Not to forget. The filing for these 2 claims was extremely painful with lots of back and forth. It almost felt from the beginning that they're trying not to pay you for the claims. Worst crooked company I ever dealt with. Now I'm out $1500. I can't use that couch.

I wish I knew what a scam this company was. After returning from an extended deployment overseas in 2020 I purchased furniture. Returning during the peak of Covid was already adjustment but to then have a company like this with predatory practices gun for me made it worse. So I spent thousands furnishing my new home through Ashley Furniture store in Fort Walton Beach, FL. I purchased the GUARDIAN PROTECTION PRODUCTS insurance for the bedroom set only. The salesperson would not let up on how great it was especially for MILITARY MEMBERS who relocate during their career. That area of FL has two AF bases. So you can only imagine how many members and families they have preyed on.
So reluctantly I purchased the insurance and after 4 years it's time to PCS. I was familiar with the terms of the contract yet they weaseled their way out of honoring the contract. Sometimes during a large move furniture is damaged, unfortunately. Which again the salesperson used as a means to sell this scam of a protection policy. The bedroom as you would predict sustained damages and already being anxious and stressed about the move the damages increased my worries. Although when I realized my GUARDIAN PROTECTION plan was purchased just for this incident I was a little relieved. Along with the bedroom suite some of my other furniture was damaged when loaded into the moving truck.
There is no going back once the furniture is unintentionally damaged but I knew I was in good hands. I was so worried about placing the claim I began researching to better understand the policy. I went a ASHLEY FURNITURE store in my location and that's when I knew something is wrong. The stores apparently have different furniture protections and will not honor another store policy. Strange how was NEVER mentioned during the sale and purchasing process. The salesperson at the new location was kind enough to see if that bedroom suite still available by Ashley's and it was. So now I've taken photos of my furniture and its damages and began the claim process before my dateline.
Once I go online I see how difficult this is going to be. I laughed because again they don't tell you how long it takes to file a claim once you need to. So I gathered I needed to to take more detailed photos. All this while transitioning and looking for housing and starting a new career. So instead of filing online, I decided to call. Not an easier process either. I file the claim and attempt to send the pictures. Gmail will not send large files. It took days send my pictures for the because I had customized the photos files to even email. It took almost before I heard anything. By this time I'm back in ICU for blood clots and I see my claim was denied. OK I'm already not well so I refuse to exacerbate my condition by stressing. I'll address the issue when I'm released.
The reason for denying the claim was due to "TRANSIT". The furniture was damaged while loading it not while driving it to the new location. I was so taken aback I literally looked the word up in the dictionary. Transit means carrying people, goods, or materials from one place to another or passing through or across a place. It can also mean change. So do they expect my furniture to stay in the room where they set it up forever because the protection DOES NOT COVER MOVING YOUR FURNITURE TO ANOTHER LOCATION EVER! That's the only explanation I can come up with. I wasn't driving when it was damaged, but the policy was null and void once it left my bedroom. That's predatory practices at its finest.
Once I responded, I received an email stating I could appeal the refusal claim. Appeal to whom? The same people who denied the claim in the first place with all the supporting documents and pictures. What would be my agreement? So, for future information, PLEASE do not waste your money on this company protection plan. So, like many others as you read these reviews, the policy is not meant to cover actual damages. I hope this helps put a stop to this scam.

Most warranties are not great, let’s be honest… But this is BY FAR the worst you could imagine. Like other posts, if I could leave less than 1 star I would. The Rooms to Go furniture quality is average and you get sold on the warranty by the sales team because it covers so much. The brochure you get talks about how much is covered and their website shows very common things that are covered. However if you go submit a claim, everything gets denied for some reason or another. This protection is total garbage and that's being nice. Save your money on this waste of a warranty because it will do nothing for you when the time comes.

As you can see from other reviews, this company will do anything they can to decline your claim. If you are purchasing this expecting to be covered for any sort of damage, stains, etc to your furniture, DO NOT purchase this coverage. Your claim WILL be denied. I spent $400 for this coverage. Filed my first claim 2 years after purchase of a 5 year plan. My claim was a stain on my couch...something that is widely advertised as covered on pamphlets and advertisements. No damage, no tears, just a simple stain on my couch. This claim was denied. My $400 couch coverage will not even cover a stain.
Guardian should be absolutely embarrassed and ashamed by their customer service. Unfortunately, most people are buying this insurance on the spot at a furniture store so by the time they have purchased it is too late to do any sort of research on the company. On September 3rd, which was my 3rd attempt, I submitted a claim regarding my sectional recliner sofa. I also purchased the furniture protection plan which I suggest no one to ever get one. The name of the company is Guardian Protection Products inc. I filed claims before with this company and it was always a hassle to get someone to come out. They will find any reason to deny your claim and guess what, they did it again.
The couch has rips, cuts and punctures in areas that no one sits in, (ex. behind the couch, in between the seat cushions and etc.) I submitted my claim 3 times and also utilizing the exact wording the claim policy states that it covers. They continually send an email stating that it's ineligible but would also attach the warranty "what's covered" page which states the very thing they rejected the claim for. This is very disappointing for a business who takes your money with the clear intention to avoid servicing you when you really need them!
When I had a problem with my table 2 years ago, Guardian initially denied the claim. I had to fight hard to dispute their denial and they finally agreed to send someone out, in which the service guy concluded that it needed to be replaced. So here I am again with another denial of service, but I wasn't so fortunate this time to dispute the outcome because they close out the case quickly after each rejection. The sad thing is that I given my money over to a company that truly doesn't care about its customers. Watch out for companies like Guardian. They will take your money but will avoid your problem.

I purchased a protection plan from American Freight back in 2019. It’s a 5 year warranty to that was supposed to over “everything.” I even made sure to specifically ask about animals because at the time I had a hyper one year old dog. I was told “yep, pets and kids are covered.” I go to file a claim in August of 2024 because my now new puppy has ripped two large holes in both my loveseat and sofa. My claim is denied because it does not care pets. However on my protection plan list it says it covers pet fluids and then the next line says punctures. It doesn’t say that pets are excluded from what caused the punctures so I don’t understand why my claim was denied.
I reached out to their customer service. Was told I’d have a response the next business day…. Nope! I have yet to hear from them. This company will denied your claim and give you a bogus reason as to why. I’ll never purchase anything from guardian again. I’m also going to write a review to the BBB, because based on all the other reviews this company just likes to take money without actually helping the consumer.

I purchased all the furnitures for my home from Rooms To Go and got the Guardian Protection for all of them. I got an accidental rip on my sectional sofa and filed a claim more than 70 days ago. They asked Rooms To Go to fix it and sent some parts and repair guys came, but they couldn't fix it. They told me it is difficult to repair and they will have to replace the sofa. But there was no response after that. When I call Guardian they asks me to contact Rooms To Go. When I call Rooms To Go they asks me to call Guardian. I am tired of this irresponsible game they are playing. I suspect they are trying to drag it until the end of my protection period and to wash off their hands saying, "Your protection is over." I am thinking why should we waste hundreds of dollars for a no resolution protection plan? I would not go for it next time. It is so frustrating.
Hi Ajesh, we're sorry to hear that your experience with the claims process has been frustrating. As the administrator of your extended service contract, Guardian is required to execute the terms according to the guidelines selected by your retailer. In the case of this claim, the damaged parts were available and Guardian authorized them to be ordered. Your retailer has instructed us to advise you to contact them so that they can schedule the installation of the parts. To further assist you, we have also reached out to your retailer requesting that they have someone contact you to expedite the scheduling of that service. If we may be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to let us know. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for being a valued Guardian customer!

Like many of the reviews here, my family and I feel like we’ve been scammed. Upon purchase of our purchase at Rooms To Go, the salesman ensured that if we were unable to remove stains on our sectional by using the cleaner provided by Rooms To Go, the insurance company would attempt to help remove the stains or offer a replacement. Fast forward 1 year and 11months later, our claim was declined. After reading the small print explanation of why our claim was denied it was realized that it’s contradictory to the initial paperwork provided from Rooms To Go.

I was promised everything would be ok once my house was built and I then I could call and take care of the sofa with no issues.
Now I can not get anyone to help because of course the warranty has expired. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was asked why do I need to speak with someone. I explained and they still refused to let me speak with a supervisor. They told to call the store I bout the furniture from. When I talked to an agent, they told me to send pictures of the sofa. I have been doing this for almost a year and a half, and they never responded either by email or phone call. Recently, they told me again to send pictures, and this time they also asked for the receipt. Now, they told me to keep an eye on my email. I even updated my email address to ensure I received their response.
However, this time they gave me some excuse, saying it is not covered under the warranty because it is normal aging. Then, when I called them, they told me I had passed the 30-day claim period and was not eligible under the warranty. I had to call Bob's directly and explain the problems I was having with this company. Bob's talked to them and sent their own technician to see what was wrong with the sofa recliner.
The technician came and told me the sofa needs a new leg support frame because it is dented. Bob's called me and advised me to talk to Guardian again, saying they should cover the frame replacement. Now, I have to deal with these people again. This company makes Bob's look bad. I would not recommend buying the warranty.

Updated on 6/26/2024: **Update** still have yet to hear back from a supervisor regarding our “ineligible Claim”. I also have left a previous review and was messaged to send guardian a private message, which I am still awaiting their response. Again, I will state, save your money and DO NOT get this protection plan, it is a complete scam and they do not honor their contract. I spoke to a representative to follow up why our claim was denied, and the representative kept stating it’s because the accident was caused by the customer, per page 2 section 2c on our contract for what is NOT COVERED, it states the following, “damages caused by you in the assembly of RTA (ready to assemble) furniture (whether partial or full assembly is required)"..
I then began to question the representative and state however the accident wasn’t caused during assembly, so how is this valid? (I tripped over our vacuum cord and landed on the left back rest, which is now causing the back rest to lean further back). The couch has been assembled for well over two years. She couldn’t give me an answer and repeatedly kept saying because the accident was caused by the customer it is not covered. I will never buy this furniture protection plan ever again.
Original review: BEWARE. Do not purchase this furniture protection policy, they are a complete scam, as you can infer by their 1 star rating. I was informed when we purchased this policy that it covers all Accidental damages due to a particular incident! However this is NOT the case, received an email since the accident was caused by the customer, it is ineligible, where does it state that in their policy? Our love seat is nearly pristine, however I tripped over our vacuum cord and landed on the left back rest, which cause the left backrest to slightly separate from the brace. I was also informed it would only take five days to hear back, however I literally had to call on the 6th day to infer to receive an update on the claim and was then informed they would reach out to the agent whose handling it and give me an answer today. How ironic one hour after that phone call the claim comes in as not covered. Like I said, save your money. They aren’t worth it.

This company is a SCAM!!!! Do NOT purchase their protection plan. Because it protects you from nothing. To begin this nightmare story, I submitted my claim along with the pictures they requested the same day as the claim or the very next day. The following day they sent me an email stating that they received what I emailed and that they would get back with me with a determination in 5 business days. That didn’t happen. So, I called after that time frame. Once I realized I needed to escalate my concern, I ended up getting Daniel - Supervisor #1 on the phone. He promised that I would have a resolution in another 1-2 business days.
I had to call back again after the determination, I requested a supervisor review of my claim. As I am extremely unhappy with this result. I was informed by the supervisors I spoke with (Tammy & Page who is the top of the supervisor line apparently), that they don’t cover normal wear and tear even though that what was promised to me when I purchased the furniture. And that I would have needed to basically lie or come up with some type of outlandish story as to how the furniture frame broke and punctured the sleeper portion of the couch. Instead of the truth. Which was that I sat on the couch after having it for 4 years with my knee up in my lap and the frame just gave way and cracked in half.
At the time of me submitting the request for coverage I decided to also inform them of a stain that happened the weekend before that I was having trouble getting out. Do you all know that this company told me that they will send a tech out to try and remove the stain but that the broken frame piece and the puncture from that happened from the frame breaking due to regular use isn’t covered. SMH Like what?! So, Guardian wants to only come and rub a stain out of the couch that we cannot sit on properly now because it’s damaged from regular use (because it’s a couch). How does that make any sense?
I have even asked that they send someone out to assess the damage. The supervisor said, “It’s not that the couch is damaged/broken we understand that. It’s how it was broken.” I reiterated that I didn’t do anything to the furniture but take care of it for four years and sit down on it with my knee up. I even sent them pictures. Which show that I do take very good care of the furniture and the damage the frame breaking caused. I was unable to get a picture of the break in the frame, as it’s under the couch and I didn’t want to hurt myself or damage it further by lifting it.
The supervisor then said, “Yeah, well if it was caused by you tripping and falling on the couch and then it broke, that would be covered.” I was baffled. So, if I’m understanding this correctly, If I would have called and lied about how the frame broke it would be covered? She then reiterates that if an “accident” like that had happened then, yes. I am appalled by the trickery and scam they pulled with this “protection plan”. This is an accident! I didn’t do anything purposely to damage the furniture.
This company is partnered with BOB’s Furniture, and they are allowing BOB’s to sell their protection plan to customers under the LIE/guise that they will be covered and taken care of if their purchase is damaged. I was assured when I purchased this coverage that it would cover any issues such as wear and tear and any other problems 100% including accidents, pets etc. Also, I used the allow because after my issue, I’ve seen thousands of people on different consumer and social media sites having the same or a very similar issue with this company. Which means that the company is aware that customers are being promised this information. Yet they have not fixed the issue with the information BOB’s is providing nor are they fulfilling what they promise to provide.
I guess I am expected to just purchase another living room set. Even though this one is still covered under a protection plan that I paid additional money for or find some way to either repair it, which I believe is unrepairable. SMH. This situation was a headache to say the least and a huge WASTE OF MONEY! If you do decide to take the risk for whatever reason, my advice, have an accidental lie prepared on your first interaction with them. Because these thieves will look for any reason NOT to cover the damage. Including taking advantage of your trust and honesty.

I purchased 2 matching recliners from Hank's Furniture and purchased the 5 year Guardian Protection Plan for both. The handle to open the recliner broke after 1 year and Guardian sent a technician. The tech said all they would have to do was get a new handle and cable and he would come back and fix it. The next thing I knew I was getting an email from Guardian that Option 1 was to go back to Hank's (and it had to be Hanks) and I could get a new recliner and they would give me what I paid for the recliner but I would have to pay any difference. After speaking with the store I was informed they no longer did business with that supplier, but they had a floor model at another location and it would be $100.00 more. I didn't want a floor model (had bad luck with one before).
Option 2 was to keep the recliner, fix it myself and they would give me $168.00 and my plan would no longer be good. The reason I bought the protection plan was because my recliners were matching and I wanted to have them fixed if anything would happen. Who wants mismatched recliners? After several emails they said they were unable to get the part for the recliner. Funny, I went on Amazon and got a part for $10.99. They said I could close my claim, fix it myself and keep the warranty, but after this experience I do not believe if anything else happened they would honor the warranty. Never again.

I wish there was negative stars that I could give.. Just the denial after denial of claims. Even when I had them make the claim for me, they would still deny the claim. They have also made false statements about the claims to support their denied claims. This company should not be in business, they are a joke.

I did send an email to this guys about a month ago requesting some one to contact us because we have an issue with our furniture that needs taken care of. Nobody has contact us back. But I read the reviews here and they are not really good. I am still giving a chance to email us back to see if they are willing to honor the contract and fix our problem.

Claim denied due to issues covered by warranty. No one ever contacted us to follow up. Finally when I called back I was told it was denied. Customer service was horrendous. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was hung up on. Called back and was hung up on again. Went to Rooms To Go and filed a complaint.

This is the worst company and the biggest scam that I have ever experienced. Please do not waste your money on this coverage. One star unfortunately you can only rate 1-5, not 0. First of all getting in touch with this company is a nightmare. Once you do get in touch with them you never hear back unless you call, text, email continuously for weeks. I was told when I purchased this coverage that it would cover any issues such as wear and tear and any other problems 100%, accidents, even pets. This is not the case. They do not cover anything. I am attaching a response that I received from them after I sent in a claim for a rip in the side of the couch. NEVER again with this company. Save your money, don’t get scammed. Company will try any means to avoid honoring the insurance coverage. I bought a couch from Bob's that ended up getting some of the wooden frame pieces cracked. I reported the issue online as I wasn't sure how it happened only to find out later from my wife that my son fell into the couch and they heard a crack. Needless to say, the claim was denied even after I tried to re-report the claim properly with the updated information and after talking to a company representative and explaining everything. Very disappointed and feeling ripped off!

I bought this GPP protection plan coverage with Rooms To Go for two sofas and one of the sofa had an incidental burn from coal and they didn't even cover a single penny and gave me a rude response instead when I called them. I paid about 500$ for two sofas and it's a complete waste of money. **I recommend anyone not to buy this coverage.**

If I could give this company zero stars I would. This was a complete waste of money and I honestly think this should never be offered if the company isn't going to abide by what was stated in the beginning for furniture coverage. I'll never purchase this again and I do not recommend them to anyone.

Extremely disappointed with Guardian/Bob's Discount Furniture's Goof Proof plan customer service. We have been loyal customers for years, purchasing a sectional, couch, bed frame, nightstands, dining set, tv stand, side table, and dresser. We also planned to purchase recliners soon. However, our recent experience with a ripped sectional has left us questioning our loyalty. We purchased the sectional five years ago with the Goof Proof plan, which just expired on May 22nd. The rip occurred on May 13th, well within the warranty period. We reported it on June 7th (within the 30-day window), but our claim was denied due to the plan expiration date, which we weren't even aware of - we would have extended the warranty (if that was an option) or immediately reported it had we been made aware in advance that it was close to expiration. The sectional is no longer in production - we're just looking for a repair of the fabric.
This is unacceptable, considering we were well within the 30-day reporting period specified in the Goof Proof terms, which state "If you purchased a Goof Proof Protection Plan and accidentally stain or damage your furniture, please report the mishap within 30 days." The fact that the warranty expired a few weeks later should not invalidate our claim. We have spent thousands of dollars at Bob's over the years and feel completely let down by their lack of flexibility and understanding. When we tried to contact customer service, we were told to do it online - we tried to do that and weren't even able to submit it. We urge Guardian/Bob's Discount Furniture to reconsider their decision and honor our Goof Proof claim. We are extremely disappointed with their customer service and lack of loyalty towards long-time customers. We hope they will do the right thing and rectify this situation.
We would like to thank you for taking the time to voice your experience with Guardian Protection Products. Unfortunately, once a plan expires, we are unable to assist. Most of our plans are valid for only 5 years from the date of delivery and there is no option to extend.
