    Don’t buy the insurance policy! They don’t pay and find all kinds of reasons how to deny one’s claims. Bel Furniture sells this crooks insurance policies and it’s a scam. Don’t be taken like me. Stay away from both Guardian and Bel Furniture! Please take my advice!

    Buyer beware when purchasing a protection plan administered by Guardian Protection Products, very disappointed. I paid for a furniture protection plan in good faith, believing it would provide peace of mind in case of accidental damage. When damage occurred and I submitted a claim, it was denied. It’s frustrating to pay for coverage and then discover that the damage doesn’t meet their criteria. The limitations were not clearly explained when the plan was sold. Based on my experience, I would think carefully before purchasing this protection plan. In another words, you are just giving them money for free, they don't cover ANYTHING. I wish I could give them zero stars.

    This protection plan is a joke and a total waste of money! The repair (replacement of a couple of parts, which took two months to arrive) has still not been completed. They had an independent local repair person call me two to three weeks ago, but I'm guessing his quote was too high for them. So here I sit. DON'T waste your money. It's not worth the cost or the frustration!

    PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!! I hope this reaches as many people as it can. Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT BUY furniture from Bob’s Discount Furniture. And ESPECIALLY do not purchase their Goof Proof protection. I have 3 children and of course we are going to use the furniture a lot. I had the furniture for over two years before ever filing a claim and wasn’t expecting to with Guardian Protection plan .. They sent someone once to clean my furniture and some of the stains did not come out and they then sent someone again and that person broke and ripped my furniture and Guardian THEN denied my claim for a new couch. They made up all these excuses why they wouldn’t process my claim after I spent so much money!

    I then reached back out to Bob’s to see if they could help me and to tell them how badly I was treated by their protection plan and they said “sorry there is nothing we can do because it is outside of our warranty time”. Why have me buy a five year plan to “extend” my warranty if it can’t be covered??? This is not the only piece of furniture in my house this has happened with. I am definitely replacing my furniture with a better store … They are called DISCOUNT for a reason. The only reason they got two stars is because the staff was nice at the store but they are nice just to swindle you out of your money and to make sure they talk you into buying a protection plan that THEY KNOW won’t protect your furniture.

    This company is a fraud and will not cover anything. It is supposed to cover pet damage. They are trying to say that urine odor is not damage and it is not covered. Biggest joke of a company. You will talk to someone overseas and can not get a manager to speak with

    I filed a claim for a broken chair, only to be told it was not covered because the protection plan excludes failure of assembly joints. This is unreasonable, as a chair — a core component of a dining set — should reasonably be expected to be covered when it fails under normal use. The chair legs bent inward and the screws pulled completely out from the bottom, causing the chair to collapse and leaving my guest on the floor. This created a serious safety hazard. While I am grateful they were not injured, the situation could have easily resulted in harm. Avoid at all costs. This company fails to act with urgency or accountability and shows no concern for customer safety.

    Would love to give this place zero stars. Purchased a 5 year warranty on my reclining sectional. 2 years after purchase it rubbed against the wall and tore the leather. I submitted a claim to Guardian and after several emails back and forth (asking to submit things I had submitted during the initial claim) they told me to submit my receipt. I got online and copied the receipt and sent it to them. They told me again to submit a receipt. So I called and spoke with customer service. He said the receipt I submitted was for an RAF reclining sectional and I had damage on the LEFT SIDE!! He said you need to submit a receipt for the LAF recliner. I said it’s a sectional! RAF is just the orientation and you should know that if you are selling protection plans for them. It’s all sold as 1 unit. They said they won't approve my claim without a receipt showing I paid for the left recliner section of the sectional!! I have no words for how stupid this company is.

    I bought Bob’s Furniture Goof Proof Insurance against my better judgement. I don’t typically purchase these insurances because they are usually scams but Bob’s manager of the Middletown Ny store promised me if there were any problems to include (rips, stains, defects or motor issues) the insurance would cover it, a little over a year later half of the recliner seat sunk in resulting in you sitting lopsided in the chair causing back pain. I contacted Bob’s insurance and was denied the claim stating it was normal wear and tear which is not covered, I replied to them with several messages stating that this is not normal wear and tear its structural and can they please send someone to look, that was a few weeks ago and as of this review they have not acknowledged or responded to me in any way. These people are scammers and should not be in business, what they are doing is actually theft and should be prosecuted for it. Bob’s Furniture should be ashamed of themselves for selling this insurance. Now I’m off to the BBB website to report them!!

    Don't waste your money on this warranty. My couch is 14 month old, the whole underneath of the recliner is torn. They will not fix it saying it is from normal wear. Ok, we do not sit in the under part of this so how can it be normal wear wear??? What a joke. I will NEVER purchase anything from Bob's since this is their warranty.

    In 2023, I purchased a recliner from Bob’s Discount Furniture and a repair service contract from Guardian Protection Products. In December 2025, the remote failed locking the recliner in the upright position. For the last month, I have been trying to get the recliner fixed without success. GPP is clearly dragging their feet. For anyone reading this review, don’t buy furniture from Bobs. But if you must, don’t buy the protection contract. Save yourselves the aggravation!

    Updated on 04/23/2026: This is the absolute worst insurance - repair company. If you enjoy a lack of communication, going around in circles and never getting any resolve, go with this company. The lack of communication and customer service confusion is absolutely insane. It took nine months for them to tell me they can't help me. I can't believe Becker/furniture Mart would partner with this company. They are absolutely horrible. Three weeks after we bought our sectional from Becker/furniture Mart, the motor broke we were told to take pictures. We had to do a video chat with someone and they were supposed to be right on it. Well… It's nine months later and nothing. Do not go with this company. It's a complete ** show and a joke. What a clown show!!

    Original Review: I purchased the Guardian protection plan for a recliner sofa. I purchased at Becker furniture. After three months, the recliner motor stopped working. We had to do a virtual chat and my seven-year-old husband had to turn the recliner upside down to get a picture of the motor. Then it was a few days before we heard from guardian and they said they would get back to us in a week. The process is ridiculous. We've been without a working recliner for three weeks. I am not expecting good results here. The whole process is ridiculous.

    Contacted Guardian because three piece reclining furniture that I purchased from rooms to go was out of warranty as of Nov. 25. Red leather sofa as well as recliner has discoloration. Reached out to guardian today received an email stating that discoloration was not colored. What a freaking waste of money.

    I bought an adjustable bed from Sit 'n Sleep. I reached out to Guardian and I was a couple days late on the (30) day notice. I had two surgeries and was sick for quite some time. Once they said I missed the 30 day notice, they will not even return any emails now. I also bought a couch and paid for their insurance. I was told that if any happened, any stain they could not fix, they would replace the furniture. They came, attempted to get the stain out and then said "sorry we can't get it out" and never heard from them again. Worst insurance ever!!!!

    This company finds ways to not stand behind the warranty you pay for. We claimed damage on a couch we owned for 2 years. They denied the claim saying we didn't claim it within 30 days even though we told the rep it just happened. They wanted to place a date on it so outside the 30 days by saying "could we use October 30th for the date?" Once they submit it then they came back with sorry you are denied. I WOULD NOT ADVISE ANY ONE USE GUARDIAN OR ASHLEYS FURNITURE WARRANTY AS THEY ARE BEING SOLD AT ASHLEYS.

    Will not repair anything, even though that's the literal point of the company. Useless and a waste of money. They've made every excuse why nothing can be fixed on the claim and I can't believe I've wasted my time and money on this.

    If I could give 0 stars I would. My dogs chewed one of my cushions in the care of a sitter and I filed a claim but since it’s more than one spot they won’t cover it. My platinum plan says it covers pet damage but only one spot not two. So if you have more than one animal you better hope they don’t team up to chew it cause only one is covered and if there’s two spots no other claims will be accepted from here on out. What a TRASH company.

    Total scam. They don't actually do anything, they outsource it to incompetent technicians and give you the runaround in an overly complicated (and poorly-functioning) online system, hoping you wear out before they actually have to DO anything. Save your money!

    Submitted a claim due to my daughter slipping nail polish on my couch which is supposedly “covered.” A technician said they would come to clean the stain. He came took pictures and left then we received an email saying they do not cover accumulated stains. Our claim is for a specific stain that recently occurred.

    This company is a complete scam and could care less about customers even during the holidays ! Do NOT even waste your money! And shame on Bob's Furniture for having this company represent their name! My claim was put in on 10/18 and I still have no resolution! For something that cannot be fixed !! It needs to be replaced! The technician himself said it needs to be replaced but somehow my report said fix! And all they do is apologize and promise you escalation and still nothing! On top of that, my technician was 2 hours late! With no notification! Absolutely RIDICULOUS! A scam! Bob's and this horrible outsourced company should be ashamed to even exist! You should feel horrible for treating people this way! Sad that I even have to give them 1 star just to post.

    This is the worst insurance company; my recliner was covered. They approved for me to get a new recliner in the amount I paid. The furniture store does not have the recliner (discontinued) or anything I want. Guardian told my furniture store they can issue me a check for a settlement; I called Guardian and they are refusing and telling me my claim is closed after several months of waiting. I asked to speak to a supervisor as I am not satisfied with this resolution, I was told they only respond via email. I will be reaching out to my Attorney General, and BBB as this is a scam on customers.

The part that is on the covered list the furniture store gave me, Guardian told me it's not covered. No wonder they have so many negative reviews.

    Worse company to have a warranty with. The attached picture is waiting on hold before I hung up..I was working so I lost track of time until I was ready to leave at 5 and noticed it was 2 hours on hold..be prepared to wait for emails and contact them plus another person. It's just a hassle to deal with..

    The Guardian protection plan is a complete scam. They convince you to pay extra money for “protection,” but when something actually happens, you end up chasing them down for weeks, getting no communication, and then being told the issue isn’t covered. I filed a claim months ago for my couch after it wouldn’t fit through the door of my new place. I followed every step, submitted every photo, and waited patiently. They scheduled a technician who NEVER showed up and never called. When I called back, I was told I’d receive an email to reschedule… which never came.

    Meanwhile, I’m paying monthly storage fees because Guardian has failed to do anything. They finally responded to the BBB with a generic message saying they “contacted the consumer,” but they still haven’t provided a solution or scheduled an appointment. My family has been without a couch for months, and all Guardian does is delay, deny, and make excuses. Selling these protection plans is misleading at best and predatory at worst. I would never recommend Guardian to anyone.

    They kept sending me emails saying that had an appointment on the 11th. It also said the day before the appointment they would contact me and tell me what time they're coming of course that never happened. I called them the day of the service and asked him what time they were coming they said between 1:30 and 4:30. They said the technician would call me when he was on his way. At 3:30 I called for an update they said he was running behind but he would definitely be here. My husband took off 4 hours of work waiting for them to come. They never showed up. They never called. They never text anything. But when I talked to them this morning they said they called me and text me but that's kind of funny coz I never got it. This place is a joke. I will never deal with them again. Now they say they're coming out on Tuesday of next week, we'll see if that happens.

    This has to be the WORST insurance company I have ever dealt with. They took over FOUR months to send a third party cleaner to fix a stain for a couch, then determined that they could not cover it because they could not tell if it was the original stain; even though it was them who waited so long to send someone! Customer service is HEINOUS, they create words and phrases out of thin air. It is an absolute scam and something needs to be done about them. They have no follow through, accountability, or social skills which makes dealing them worse than getting a root canal. If you are ever offered them as insurance RUN AWAY; they are TRASH, BASURA!

    I would write ZERO stars if I could. I filed a claim for a broken bed for my child that took SO long to resolve, the bed completely fell apart, creating a very UNSAFE situation for my child. I had to remove him from his room and have him sleep somewhere else in the house while Guardian takes their ridiculously LONG time to get a new bed over. The one agent I was finally able to get in touch with (they NEVER pick up the phone) rudely told me "You can go call the retailer yourself" when I asked for an escalation pathway for this urgent situation. I have never in my life ever worked with such a terrible claims processor. I have bought furniture with this "warranty" many, many times and I don't know when they switched to this awful company but I'm so glad they will no longer use the effective 2025. I bought the furniture in 2024 so I still need to use them. THE WORST.

    If I could give a rating below zero, I absolutely would. In my experience, this company takes customers’ money and denies valid claims based on unfair and narrow judgments — often without physically inspecting the furniture. It feels like they’re collecting service fees without delivering the promised support, leaving customers with no real options for resolution. Even major retailers like Rooms to Go should reconsider partnering with them due to the way they treat their customers. I paid for a service that was later refused, and that’s extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this company to anyone — don’t waste your money or time. Their customer service is unhelpful, and the process feels completely one-sided.

    If zero stars were an option that’s exactly what I’d give this company! Do not waste your time or money and get a protection plan through Guardian. They are not helpful, customer service is absolute garbage, and Guardian will find every single reason to not cover a claim, even when your damage falls under their “what’s covered” description. I had a representative argue with me as I read over the “what’s covered” section of the warranty to her because I had damage that should have been covered and that I was told by another representative would be covered. This company is a complete scam and just wants your money but will never back up the words of their contract!
