After paying a large amount for new French Door, we find that the CHEAP screen slider on the outside of the door is really junk. After using it for only 3 months, the screen doesn't slide smoothly. I took the screen off and checked the rollers on the bottom. Small grains of sand removed and it slides better but makes a loud sound. The rollers looked oxidized. I guess I need to apply WD40 every other week to try to get the sound down. Once in a while the safety latch on the door doesn't engage unless I slam the door handle up. My wife can't do it.

My wife and I moved into our brand new home with Andersen Windows in January 2023. We had the 400 series (upgraded) "Zebra" (Inside is white, exterior is black) windows which again cost extra. As soon as it got hot out (above 75 degrees), the trim around the windows would start to pop out. Since we just moved in, and had enough other things to get settled, I simply popped them back in and went on with our day. After a month or so, they popped out again. Simple enough, I popped them back in. Here I am a year and a half later, and I am constantly having to pop these back in. The best is I called Andersen about this, and they informed me this is a known issue with the black exterior windows, and I can "gorilla glue" the trim or PAY THEM TO COME OUT AND DO IT. After spending a significant amount of $$ on these windows, this is extremely poor quality and poor service/warranty. You have been warned.

We just had our windows replaced in the whole house. We went with the Fibrex windows, and I got a decent discount. The installers were also super professional, and I was impressed by the quality of their work. They did 11 windows and it went really smoothly. It took a couple days for the amount of windows that they did, but they were able to install them really efficiently and they turned out great. I’d definitely tell people, “Pay more to get better quality,” cause the windows we replaced were not that good.

We have Andersen windows in two house houses. The windows up in our other house are about 30 years old and the ones that we have here are 15 years old. And they're pretty much the same. We wanted to match the windows that are there, so we recently got the Andersen 400 series. They replaced five windows and it took about five days. The sashes were damaged on two of the windows and we had to patch them. We really couldn't do anything with it because they'd have to take the whole windows out to fix the damage. But that was the only problem we had. Our Andersen windows are good quality. The windows that we had in this house were old aluminum windows and they were high-quality, but they were very noisy. When we put the Andersen windows in, you could tell the real difference. The rooms are more quieter.

We hired a contractor who does siding and they recommended Andersen Windows, who they work with. We got the Andersen 400, which is double-hung and goes in and out. And right now, we are not happy. They are so shallow and it’s insane that you cannot put inside window treatments. We have this beautiful molding that we've installed and now these window treatments have to cover them. We would not have bought those windows if we knew that was the situation. It’s too late to contact anybody now. We've already installed 30 windows. The windows themselves are good but the functionality is not the best. There’s more space on the outside because you have a constant thickness and it collects dirt because more of it is exposed to the exterior than interior. It's terrible. So Andersen needs to fix that design. The ship had sailed for us because we're not gonna ever buy these again.

I got windows and sliding doors from Andersen. When we started the project back in November, it took time to get the windows and doors delivered. I get that because of COVID. But the thing is, the delivery was not exactly what was expected. There was some mistake. So we had to reorder the windows and it took six months. When you open the package for the windows, you notice that there were missing pieces or there was some defect. So the guy I hired had to reorder them and they came back. But the quality is very, very good. I got the best on the front. They are very, very good windows.

In March 2024 I entered into a $26,000 contract with Home Depot for window replacement and paid a deposit of $6,200 after being shown photos of Andersen Windows series 400 from the Home Depot website. On 6/19/24 two Home Depot employees attempted to install the windows. After removing a window they discovered the new windows were defective, having a slight tilt which led to a gap on one side of the window and an inability to open the other. They installed one new window temporarily and said they would reorder.
Upon seeing the new window, I was disappointed with the amount of trim installed, which reduces the glass surface area. This was not discussed with me at the time of contract signing. I connected with Paul ** on 6/24/24 to express my objections to the window via phone but he was not able to address my concerns with the trim. I sent a follow-up email the same day, asking Paul to cancel the reorder and stated I would not be able to accept the windows. The same day I received a reply from Paul stating, "Good luck with however this turns out."
On 6/25/24 I received an email from Brandon **, Sales Manager, stating that I would not be able to change the windows from those on my contract, and I was told I was getting what Paul had shown me and "what I signed up for." I sent these messages to Home Depot Corporate and continued to speak with my local store via phone to try to resolve the issue. We discussed someone coming to look at the window in-person.
I followed up on 7/3/24 to get this scheduled and did not hear back. I've not been presented any choices for reducing trim, however they did offer to sell me the original defective windows for $11,000 so I could recoup my money by reselling them. I am not getting the windows as shown to me at the time of contract signing, and Home Depot failed to perform quality control checks. They have been unable to offer an acceptable resolution and I ask that my contract be terminated and I be refunded $6,200 deposit. Home Depot's beef is with Andersen, not me. However, I am being penalized and have nothing to show for my 6K. I will not be using these windows. I expected high quality andersen Windows. I cannot believe Andersen put their name on these windows.

We bought a house in another town. It had the double-hung Andersen Windows and a door and we really liked it. So, when we started looking for an upgrade on a sliding door, Andersen was one of our choices. I had an Andersen person come out, but I did not go with Renewal by Andersen. I went with another company that does install Andersen. It took a long time for the company that we used to get it in. We ordered in September, and it wasn't installed until December. When it came, it did pass quality control with Andersen, which it should not have. The transom window had finishing nails that went in and cracked the glass in the transom window. So, they ordered another transom window, and that took from December to March to get in. We were patient. It's not their fault but it's a long time. It was more of the distributor in the area they use.
As far as the product, I got the 400 series. So, it came in boxes, which was a surprise to the crew doing it. I see a lot of reviews that people don't like it if they buy from Home Depot. I would highly advise that if Andersen is going to sell to other businesses to install their product, they should be required to take a course on how to put the door together. I felt something was off with it. The company did honor it and came back. I ended up calling Andersen. They were great. I got the inspection person out here and he noted that they put in the weather stripping thing backward and they put in only one piece.
Overall, the quality is a total upgrade. It's quiet in the house now. Even with the weather stripping thing put in wrong, it was still more weather-efficient than the old door. The door now is quieter. It keeps the heat and the cool out. We love the transom window over the standard-size door. Trying to light it up with the windows in the house, we love the extra light that comes in. We like that you can get parts for it if you need to. I don't know how to install half of them, but you can fix it. It's not like you gotta replace the whole door. We got the blinds and the glass, too. I'd recommend Andersen to friends. The quality itself is good.

We went to Andersen's office and purchased six flat windows for our home. Ultimate Remodelers installed them and they have been very accommodating. They came on a cooler day back when we had it done so that it wouldn't get too hot in the house. We've only had the windows for a little while but they are a good replacement for what we have. So far, our experience with Andersen was wonderful and we have done other things with them now.

I ordered an Andersen storm door because I thought Andersen made quality products. Minutes after getting my door installed by a contractor I went about cleaning it. When I went to move the retractable screen it immediately ripped. The little insulation strip buckled and started leaving the track. I called, they would not replace the door but said they would send me parts. And it was my responsibility to do the work to replace. I got the parts minus one of the parts that was supposed to be in the box. I called. They resent the parts still minus the same part that was missing the first go around. I called and They said go to town and by the part.
The replacing of this retractable screen is a 15 step procedure that requires a drill and drill bit, a special tape I have never heard of, safety glasses, and gloves. Mind you this door was brand spanking new and didn't last 10 minutes after installation and now it is my responsibility to fix it. I am 74 and not handy. I would never again buy an Andersen door and I would urge you not to as well.

When I contacted Andersen, they passed me on to their subcontractor, Capital. I purchased a custom full panel patio door, and they ordered that. It was a major job. Part of that was they had to get the permit update, put in a new header, put in a structure for the inspections, and then do an installation. I wish Andersen would have given me a list of subcontractors that I could pick from, but that wasn't the case.
The installers came in with a defective product, and I pointed that out when they installed it, but they said there was nothing they could do. They can install it. I just have to get it replaced through the warranty. That turned out to be several months before I got the right parts done, and that put a huge delay on my part. Because Andersen had me go through the subcontractor that they approved, I didn't have any communication with them.
The lumber company that was subcontracted through Andersen came out and did the repair. They told me at that point that we should have stained the wood. It did not say in the brochure that the product needed to be stained. When we were sold the product and when it was installed, they did not mention that as well. So now I'm stuck with a product that I did not get stained. It wasn't offered to me. I asked Capital what they could do, and they said I have to pay to get it stained. Overall, the installation was horrible, and I spent 13,000 for a product that I'm terribly not happy with. I don't think I'm gonna go through Andersen ever again.
Thank you for reaching out regarding your experience Wanda. We're sorry we were not able to meet your expectations. Wood does need to be finished by either staining or painting for longevity of the product and for warranty purposes. You will need to work with a local contractor for assistance with this.

I got double hung white windows, and I am very happy. They're good windows. The contractor put them down on time and was very professional. They had to do a little bit of extra work and change the rotten wood.
Reviewed July 24, 2024
The windows themselves seem to be high quality. But the thing about the windows is that when you lift a window, there's usually a ledge that you can put your fingers under to lift the window, and that doesn't come automatically with Andersen. You have to pay for that separately. They charge over $100 for each one because they don't have one solid one. So either that, or you just use your fingers on the upper part of the window to push it up.
There was a gap between the window and the masonry wall. So the installer had to come back and fix that. It was fine. I just found out that the screens themselves on three of the windows aren't actually flushed with the windows. So I'm gonna have to give them a call back to come back out. Overall, the windows are good. It's just the screens that I'm pissed off at.

I bought two sliders and about seven windows and Andersen kept the timeline. It would be a good thing to get. The installation took a couple of days and the three installers were excellent. Their work was impeccable. I’m very happy.

Two of the windows are wood, unstained, pine windows. I'm still in discussions with Andersen about it, that the quality of the wood was really bad. Instead of it having a horizontal grain or something like that, it was a circle. It looks really like crap. At least two of those windows are double-hung and parts of them need to probably be replaced. I complained to my installer, and my installer upped it to his sales rep. Then the sales rep upped it up a little bit as well. So it's been escalated three times. I sent a note to them. This is all emails.
I sent an email to this guy, whose name I can look up in a second, with pictures. I said, "Would you really want these in your house?" And he just hemmed and hawed and sort of like threw it back. So, it's a hot potato, if you know what I mean. And nobody's owning it. But it hasn't come to its conclusion. So that's kind of where it's at. So there were a couple of windows with the wood quality was, for lack of another word, Janky. The other windows were fine. I don't know who approved the wood. If you went to Home Depot and you were buying pieces of wood, you would not buy these pieces of wood.
Thank you for your review. Knots in wood are a unique characteristic of natural wood used in all Andersen products. This will not impact the performance of your windows. Andersen's limited warranty covers issues in the manufacturing process. We will request a callback from an agent to further discuss your concerns.

What was weird was the Andersen window that I purchased, not from Renewal by Andersen but I heard they were the same window, isn't the same window. My neighbor across the street has Renewal by Andersen windows and mine doesn't look anything like his. He just got them not that long ago. I was surprised. I thought they would be the same window. But I feel a lot better with the windows than I did when I first got them because I wasn't impressed with the window. I like the shiny vinyl better. It cleans easier and better. If I had to do it all over again, I would want to make sure that I saw examples first. I just went with it because it was Andersen, and I figured because of all the great reviews, they were the way to go. Other than that, the installers did a great job. They did anything that I asked them to do, including pulling out the biggest window in my home and reinstalling it.

I wanted to go with Andersen when we did some window replacements and I got in touch with them online. They got back to me within a day and gave me a representative's name. The rep got ahold of me within the next few days and we set up a time when I'd be available and when he would be in the area. He came to the house and went through what I wanted to have done. I had three windows and a patio door put in and I was very pleased with the price. I thought it would probably be about $5,000 more minimum than what we were quoted. Then, I figured the installation would take a week but they were here two days. It was two gentlemen who came and did the work and they were very professional. They did a really nice job and there was not a bit of cleanup that I needed to do. I was very pleased with their attitude and their work ethic.

We went with Andersen because our understanding is they're kind of top line in terms of windows and doors and we needed a new window in our living room. The only issue is there is a defect in the window. There's a crack in one of the panes, which happened five or six days after they installed it. We're working with our contractor and he had reached out to Andersen because there's a 20-year warranty on the glass. We are waiting for someone from Andersen to call us back. There was a really long back order for what we needed, but they set that expectation from the get-go and while we were waiting, they were really good about communicating updates to us. We spent $50,000 on replacement windows and two French door deck entrance ways. I have always been told while I was growing up, that Andersen was the best. What a big piece of horse manure!!!! We have not had nothing but trouble with all of their products. The French door entry ways consistently are in need of adjustment. Thanks to our contractor friend, that installed them has had to readjust them for us. The double hung windows are another problem, when I go to clean them, the top pane is jammed and will not go back up into place. Again, I have to get our contractor friend to "fix" it. They were also not compliant about our front bow window, they insisted it was the contractor's error with the measurement, even when their own representative, measurements agreed with the contractors. My family has always chosen Pella and Andersen Windows. When I did more investigation, I found out that I would like to use Andersen for the job that I had to do. We did a small house and chose small windows. We did the doors as well. The guys who came and put them in were excellent carpenters. They did all the things they needed to do. The home needed some support, and they shaped things up and made it plumb. The installation was done beautifully and I'm very pleased to have them. The quality is 90% from what I can see so far. I love the warranty. I was told it was a 30-year-warranty. If anything happened to it, the guys who put it in said not to touch it. We were to call them. If I did or anybody touched it besides them, their warranty would be void.
We ended up with having issues with the people who built it. They were building their own windows with Andersen Windows but when they were building it, they made it too small so we ended up having to send it back. But the guys who sold it to us said, "We'll take care of it. It's not your problem." That was done well at the end and we're quite satisfied. I like the people that represented Andersen.

The door that we had built by Andersen is super high quality. It's way over what I expected. We were having a steel door made for the front door. When I got the back door put in I thought it was good enough and we could have done the front door as well. We went ultra modern in the look and it came out really nice. We were wondering how to get that steel window look and Andersen was able to pull it off. You can feel the quality when it's shut. It feels like a door on a really nice car. It has a nice shut to it.
However, it would be good if there were renderings to see this stuff. You get the architectural drawings, but it's just a bunch of lines. You can't see what it looks like. Another thing is everyone talks in codes - A series, D series and B series. None of that makes any sense to me. I just wanted to buy a window and know what it looked like. Something simpler would be nice. But their product is amazing. My expectation was mixed but I was blown away when it finally got delivered.

I didn't tell her which part it was. Only 1 of 6 packages are opened. They refused to take care of the exchange then the manager said she was going to help me then hung up on me. Besides that, installation went great. It took those guys about three-fourths of the day, but one of the windows was really huge. They did a great job, and they hung my curtain for me. The Andersen windows are amazing too. They're insulated so they're very nice. One window gets a lot of heat during the summer. This has some kind of a glaze on it, so it won't be so hot. We have three new patio doors and three new windows installed and they look great. However, I've noticed that the locking lever on the patio doors does not go all the way up in the lock position. It goes about midway. The builder mentioned to his crew that there's an adjustment screw, but they didn't seem to be aware of that. There's a plate on the outer frame that they tried to reposition, but it didn't solve the problem.
The other thing is there are caps that fill the holes in the bottom of the frame. Because of the way these patio doors were installed, there are two of them where the plugs are tearing the fabric on the lower track of one of the patio doors. I had to point it out to the guys because they had neglected to put them in on a couple of the doors. But those are the only two issues I've noticed. They're sturdy, solid doors and there's been a discernible difference in the temperature inside the house. Before, we had single pane patio doors and windows, and it was like an ice box in that house. Once the Andersen patio doors and windows were installed, it was a little bit warmer so that helped.

I told the contractor what I wanted and Jeb, the installer, did a wonderful job. He had a team of people here. There must have been five of them. They came in and got it done. It was great. Jeb is working with Andersen right now because I'm not satisfied with the glass. It's got five spots that are manufactured inside the glass. You can't even feel it. It bothers me very much when I look out my big window and there are all these imperfections in it. He said he got ahold of Andersen and they will get ahold of me to come and replace just the glass even though it's the middle piece, which I was told only the end pieces could be replaced. But Andersen Windows themselves said that they could come out and do the middle piece.
I had no problem with the guy who came to install the window. I'm just waiting on Andersen to see if they're gonna come out and make it right. I'm hoping that this will get resolved fairly quickly. I paid good money for this window and now my house is still gonna be interrupted when they have to come back and do it right. We didn't see the imperfections because it had the covering on and it said right on it not to remove it until the window is put in.

Their rate was a little on the high side but I had good experience with Andersen Windows so I was willing to pay the little bit higher price. One thing that I was dissatisfied with was when I ordered the windows, I wanted the more expensive, better quality ones but it was gonna take about five to eight weeks and I didn't have time for that. Andersen Windows has good quality. If someone is looking for custom doors, I would highly recommend them. I like how smooth the operation is even after many years. I had installed a door a few years ago and then about six months ago, I got a French door for the patio. The first time, I went with Renewal by Andersen and that was quite expensive. The next time, I went directly with Andersen and through a contractor and I'm quite happy with the price. The contractor came and we decided on the product. Then, the measurements were taken and the order was placed. At that time, they specifically said it was gonna take at least two months for the door to be manufactured and gave an estimated timeline. The door arrived within the time frame and the next week, they scheduled an appointment for installation and it was all done in a day.
The French door is functional and very durable. It feels like a luxury door. I'm quite happy with it. But it’s slightly out of alignment now. So I have a hard time opening or closing. It gets stuck. There’s a little adjustment that I need to do, but I forgot which screw I need to tighten. I didn't want to knock it out of complete misalignment so I reached out to the salesperson who I was in touch with and he said he would get in touch with someone. But I haven't heard from anyone. I was hoping for a better service. But during the purchase and installation, the customer service was awesome.

We purchased a storm door from Home Depot. When the incident occurred, we’d had it for about 3 weeks. Latching system is apparently weak and does not withstand strong winds. This is on top of a vacuum issue from the seals (I guess the seals are so good the door won’t close unless you lower the glass a bit to allow air to escape). Super annoying, but was willing to deal with it. Messaged everyone in the house to check behind themselves when leaving the house (when entering it’s not an issue as the main door is open so no air being trapped between doors to prevent closure, but we still check!). First time this happened, it ripped the bracket right out of the wall, and bent the closer. I blamed someone at the house for not making sure it was shut (now I have to go apologize).
Got our contractor back to fix (not his fault at all, install was perfect), and we put in an even longer screw in with the door frame bracket (which is why it didn’t budge, can see in pic), with a heavy duty closer, better than the one that came with the door. So this cost us quite a bit in labor! I absolutely, positively checked before going to bed last night, door was shut. And when it’s not, our ring camera picks it up so I know right away. 6 AM on 4/4, I wake up to a loud bang, Seems the wind gust ripped the door from the crappy latching mechanism, ripped the closer bracket, bending the closer rod, causing the door to fly open, shattering the glass. Got up at 6AM to clean up this whole mess, on my day off… Verdict: Andersen 3000 series storm door sold at @homedepot is straight.

Andersen Windows has a very good product. However, they have changed their concept of marketing. Up until two years ago, you could design your own window. If you acquired your product from Home Depot, you pick the color, the price range, and almost all the details on your own. I recently got two sliding glass patio doors and three large single. The quality is the same, buy it cost more than double. I didn't like that 'cause I wanted to know upfront what it would cost but it was harder to find out what I was paying for with regard to labor as opposed to material. Another gentleman that Andersen has sent out here to replace some things realized that what he was sent with wasn't the right size. Now, we've gotta start all over again with that and that's been dragging on for months.
If I were to do it over again, I would have investigated other brands and styles before I jumped into these particular windows. There are some things about the windows that don't represent the quality in which I thought I was getting with an Andersen window. I am very unhappy about the fact that all my arched windows ended up being a short. That was clearly not explained to me in any way until they were gonna do the installation on the windows. Andersen Windows has the best selection of what we were trying to accomplish with our house. However, they screwed up some standing issues on some things. One of our windows was an octagon window. On that window, they’d put two different stains on it so there was a snafu coming from production where somebody missed it. QA/QC was not done. The window showed up at the installer's and they pointed it out to us. We were able to fix it locally and use that window. But that was clearly something Andersen should not have missed. They said it would be another month before I could get an octagon window. Considering the fact it was their mistake, I would have expected them to take care of it within a week.
It took three months before we finally had everything from when we've received it to final installation and finish. That was a little longer than what we expected. I thought we'd have it done in a couple days. I'd recommend that Andersen Windows respond to customer issues quicker than they do. I didn't have any direct communications with them as all communications were with them and the installer. But it seemed to me that they could have been more responsive to their installer. Andersen marketing literature claims a life of 20 to 40 years, for their windows. Four years later three large windows on the sunny side have failed, are leaking and damaging our home. A field rep came to look over the situation. He concluded this was not an installation issue but a product failure. The plastic frames were cracking and water was leaking in and damaging the structure and interior walls. AWC appears to be willing to replace the windows, while ignoring the reality that removal and re-installation will cost double the value of the windows themselves. Apart from the cost - am I going to have to replace the “replacement” windows again four years from now?? Andersen sells expensive windows, but their quality doesn't justify the price and their warranty is useless.

There's not a lift at the bottom of the window. So if the window is high and if you're not tall, you can't try to open the window from the bottom because there's nothing to grab onto. The lift is only in the middle.
There's a little ledge that sticks out a little bit. It's only in the middle and it's not on the bottom. So, if you got a window above a sink, you can't reach 4 feet up to get to the middle to try to push. You'd have to touch the window itself. There needs to be a lift on the bottom that someone could use to pull the window up or open the window, and just the latch. But other than that, everything seems okay.

I was told that the product had a lifetime guarantee. If I had know that I certainly would not have purchased an Andersen door. Their warranty is useless.

The lady I spoke with was so nice and explained to me that Andersen does not have distributors but legal, bona fide reps in this area. She gave me a number to the closest rep and that's how I got the people who are able to do Andersen Windows in my area. They came and did the measuring and then I talked with the lady on the phone again. She went over the products and showed me different options via the internet and she was extremely patient. She showed me styles and colors and I couldn't have asked for more. I purchased everything from the frame, storm door, and front door and I love the products. I can't feel any air coming in at all and I got the storm door frame and the hard door on both fronts, which made a huge difference. Also, they really made my house look phenomenal. I’m over the moon and I can't wait to get my windows. For it being my first experience ever, I'm gonna use them again hands down. It was the best experience I ever had.

I think some of it was on their contractor, too. Other than that, the installation went really well and the quality of the windows is overall good. But I'm a little disappointed with how they came out. Every one of our black windows has a white scuff and you have to go with your fingernail and that barely gets it off. The Andersen-certified contractor came and I told them what it is that I wanted and we talked through what it is I needed. The guy gave me different options, so I could pick out what I wanted. He then explained to me how they don't just replace the windows. They replace the entire sill inside and out. Because my sills were rotting, and he said that that's part of what they do when they replace the windows. I've had other replacement windows in other homes before where the people just replace the window and not the sills. After that visit, they came and measured the windows to get the exact measurements that they were gonna need to order it, then the person came to install the windows. Any time I had a question, they would answer. They would also talk me through what they were doing and why.
A lot of times, I was just looking and they saw that I was curious, so they would engage with me and let me know what it is that they were doing, how long it was gonna take and what was going on. They exceeded my expectations in terms of the timeline. I purchased two replacement windows for my garage. They're opaque windows so that people can't see inside, and they're excellent for what I got. I would suggest Andersen Windows to people.

Andersen is a big liar. They always say they're gonna deliver in four weeks but they never do. I also had that same experience when I bought the windows myself. The dealers that I bought them from said, "Oh, yeah, Andersen's good. They'll get them to you in six weeks." But it was 12 weeks. After the installation, I learned that if I paint the windows, I'll lose the warranty. That was a little distressing to me because I wanted to paint the insides of the windows with everything else in my house. Also, Andersen is overly expensive. The product doesn't look as high-end as I would like it to look.

I got a bunch of Andersen A-300s 'cause they're Fibrex windows, and the installation process was fine. The first time around, there were no issues. They walked the job, checked the materials, and everything was good. The second time around, they did not walk the job on them, and they put the wrong glass in the wrong spot. I'm still waiting for the guy to come out and put the tempered glass in where it should go. I also have a crack in a pane that I'm still waiting to have replaced. All of that exists from not walking the project and the materials before they started working. They need to come back out and fix those. It's wintertime and it's been cold, but they'll come out someday. I've withheld money on them.
Andersen also has a horrible installation detail on their windows, especially on their transoms. The side of the window needs to be screwed through and into the framing, and that screw is a tapered head, much like a deck screw. It's white, but it sits proud instead of being a button head or a pan head where it sits flushed. It looks like crap. I had the guy come through and modify the installation on them because I couldn't stand looking at them. It's a simple thing, but if I'm gonna spend 50 grand on 10 windows, I expect the screw detail to look right. I would have selected different windows for certain parts of the house had I known it, but beyond my annoyance with the screw detail, the windows work very well.

Updated on 02/23/2024: Had a representative come out and had to put additional door seals on 3 exterior doors. Now we are having lady bugs and flies getting around the loose fitting window screens and then coming in through the closed double hung windows. Apparently the windows where they slide up and down are not completely sealed so thus all the bugs! Anderson representative called me and advised me that they don’t cover insect getting around screens and in through a closed window.
The representative then sent me their warranty on what is not covered and here is the exact wording, “What is NOT covered by this Limited Warranty: Insects passing through or around the insect screen.” So Anderson cannot make windows that can’t be penetrated by insects. I would go with a different company that makes windows that are completely sealed so insects don’t come in your home. I will never buy windows from Anderson again! Buyer Beware!
Original: We had our new home built and new Andersen Doors and windows were installed. Most of the Exterior Doors lacked weather protection and were letting cold air come in at the bottom and up the sides of the doors. We had to put weather stripping on them to keep the cold air out. We paid a lot of money for these doors and are not satisfied at all. If I could give no stars I would. Save your money and time and buy different doors than Andersen doors.
Thank you for your review. Andersen's warranty covers issues in the manufacturing process. We will reach out to further assist with your concerns.

We got windows and one patio door. We really like the window. It keeps the house a lot warmer, especially that room that we changed the window. That room is right above the garage, and it tends to get a little bit cooler, especially in the wintertime. But that window seems to help with that. The only thing that we noticed is that that the window makes a hollow sound. It's in the background. It’s not really loud. But everything else is perfect. Everything is tightly sealed. It's a really good product.
We dealt with Johnson County Siding & Windows instead of with Andersen directly. They give you a timeline. They tell you exactly how the process is gonna go. They tell you exactly what the price is gonna be and then they stick to it. So, there's no surprises. That's the one thing that I appreciated the most about it. They were very realistic with their timeline. So, you know exactly what you're going to get even before you sign a contract with them.

I was so pleased with the experience and the windows that I got at that time that I reached back out to Andersen Windows when I was able to replace the rest of the windows with the same types. They treated me outstandingly well.
I would recommend Andersen Windows to others. They were very good and came out here quickly after I made the initial call to get the windows. I was pleasantly surprised that the windows came in sooner than I had expected and they were installed. I was the hold-up when we scheduled installation because of some other stuff that was going on at the time. But whenever they were able to get out here, they jumped on it and did a great job. The windows are expensive but I recognize that stuff is more expensive. At the same time, there are some other window manufacturers. I live in the Taylor area and there's one here. We talked to Brian, showed a video of the problem, the bottom panes move side to side about 3/4 inch while closed. He said that’s normal. I’ve never seen windows do that. And we get gnats in the summer because of it. A window should not move side to side when closed or opened. Very dissatisfied.
Thank you for your review. Andersen's warranty covers defects in the manufacturing process. Sash movement can be expected and does not affect window operation. I made it difficult because we were going to do different things such as bay windows and such, but he provided me the scenarios I needed. In the end, I was able to choose the bid option we wanted. From there, he took a downpayment, which was reasonable, and placed the orders for the windows to be made.
Once they were created, we worked on an installation start date together and that moved around a little bit because of other circumstances. But he was in perfect contact with us so, it was no trouble to get it dialed in. His name was Bryan and our communication was always extremely clear and sufficient. I was never left hanging. Ultimately, I am satisfied with how the installation went and the end product is terrific. . I would also tell my friends that should speak to Bryan for an estimate for both the windows and the install.

A year ago, I put a downpayment for siding on it and they're finally starting that tomorrow. So, to start to finish on the windows in about eight weeks was good.
Andersen had a crew and they put the windows in. Ryan, the salesman, and I talked to get it started. After the few initial calls, I dealt with the certified installer and it was very good. The crew told me what they were gonna do and they did exactly that and their finished work was good too. My expectation wasn't off the chart on the windows but they seemed like a good window, especially for what I needed, and they seemed well-built and I liked that they are Fibrex over vinyl. Renewal by Andersen asked if the windows were for a rental and said that I would probably not gonna want those because it was $2,000 to $3,000 a window. And that would have been way too much. The price point on these was a lot less than that. So, it was perfect. They were slightly better than what I expected. I was quite pleased with the quality of these for the price of the 100 Series. I purchased a brand new home in 2021. This home came with Andersen windows. I noticed that one of my windows were leaking, and it turned out to be a manufacturing defect. After fighting with Andersen for an extended period to get them to even come out to my house to look at the window, they told me they would order a brand new unit due to the defective window. However, they told me they would not install it nor pay for the serious damage caused to my home from their defective window.
Please take caution that they actively attempt to not honor the warranty, and when they do, you will have to fight like hell to even take your concern serious. Then, when they finally admit they sold a defective window and bad product, they will try to skirt around the extra damages and liability caused by their product. For such a big company, they have 0 customer service. On top of this, they do not care about the harm they cause or their products cause. They leave the consumer with a damaged property from their defective windows, then refuse to install a new window or fix the damage they caused. They sell expensive windows, but they aren't worth the price.

23 years ago, I built my home and I used Andersen Windows. I was very happy with it. Recently, I replaced a window. We had a break-in and the burglar broke one window. I wanted to do the same Andersen brand. I got a double-hung window. The crew replaced it in one day but they're not done yet. The window didn't come with the frame. I called and they said they were waiting on a part. I'm still waiting on that too. As a company, Andersen has good people and they answer me right away. But I'm not crazy about the job.

We got 10 windows for our sunroom. Customer service told us what the process would look like. There was clear and consistent communication. I never felt like anybody was trying to pull one over on us. The installation took four days which was twice as long as they planned. But it was just a timing thing. They weren't able to have the entire crew and the windows that were already there were poorly fitted. So they had to do a lot of work to make sure the new windows were sealed.
The work was exemplary. The windows have a sun-protective glass which has been really effective. We love them. We spent more money on these windows but we definitely felt like we made the right choice. The problem we were having was that the heat seals on the old windows were broken, so it would get really hot in this room that's south-facing. Now, we're able to hang there during the day without it being sweltering hot.

I purchased different-sized windows from them. The installation was delayed by half a year. The suppliers didn't get them on time. Also, after we received them, the contractors needed additional time to adjust the schedule because they were finishing some other project. We were dissatisfied with the quality and look of the windows. We were expecting from the presentation that we would get a comparable size of windows. But what happened was that the view area was much smaller than on our original window and so much smaller than with a different vendor. We didn't realize that in the beginning but from where the thickness was calculated, we were completely misrepresented. We didn't get any correct estimates. We lost about like 15,000 of money some of which we recovered by selling but not more than 25% was recovered. There was great delay again because we had to order another kind of window.

After 15 plus years of use for my Andersen double inswing Frenchwood doors my latch lever using to actuate the locking mechanism stopped working and started spinning freely and would not lock the door. I contacted Andersen customer service and spoke with David. He listened to my problem, and emailed me procedure document to disassemble the handle and locking mechanism exposing the actuator that moves the deadbolt in and out of the door frame. Upon inspecting the actuator, I found two screws had loosened over the 15 years since the door was installed preventing the actuator from engaging the deadbolt. By simply tightening these two screws that were not accessible without removing the door handle and faceplate my problem was completely solved, and the door was back to operating correctly.
I had expected to pay several hundred dollars for replacement hardware, when in fact my total cost was about 20 minutes of my time. David from Andersen listened to my problem, sent me an instruction document that clearly gave me step by step procedures to follow allowing me to fix the problem and put my door back in service with no $ cost to me. I am a very satisficed customer with the quality of the service I received and the quality of Andersen products. Thank you David and Jeanette from Andersen for help, and Andersen for the quality of your products.

I bought kitchen sliding doors from Andersen and I was very happy with them. But about a month afterwards, the problem came in with the pole ropes for the Venetian blinds that are internal to the door. I called the local carpenter who put them in and he said he didn't do any work on doors after he put them in. He said that was between myself and the company, and I was very disappointed in that.
When I talked to a representative of Andersen, she said she was going to send me the repair parts to help repair the problem I was having. But she sent the wrong parts and they didn't match up with my windows. She sent for some other product and I called back when I got that. I talked to a gentleman and he did an extensive search. He found out that I had a different brand of the mechanism for the Venetian windows and he said he was going to send them to me. And that's been about three weeks ago.
I have yet to get the replacement to correct a magnetic connection between the rope pulley and the Venetian blinds inside. One of them is virtually impossible to use and the other one works great. So, I've got mixed reactions on these windows. I'm also pretty disappointed right now on getting these Andersen products. I paid $7,600 to put in sliding doors in my kitchen to the patio and I thought that price was outrageous, considering there was no follow-up service from the carpenter and the company hasn't provided any repair parts. So, I can't use the Venetian blinds on the sliding glass panel. But on the fixed panel, it works fine.

We live on the Gulf Coast where we have hurricanes and my old doors and windows were pretty crappy. The last hurricane kind of scared us so we decided to upgrade at least our doors and Andersen offered a hurricane quality door. With all the supply constraints, it was kind of hard for the guy to really be accurate on his estimate and replacing the door turned out to be a lot longer. Also, they could have done a lot better job with keeping me informed about what was going on. The guy was really hard to get ahold of and it was pretty disheartening. I spent $10,000 on the door and I expect people to keep me abreast, especially when it's such a delay like we experienced. But that's one part I was not very pleased about and everything's that way now. It seems that there's just not a lot of communication anymore between vendors and people.
The quality of the doors seems to be pretty good. They don't fit as tight as I was expecting and they don't close as tight as I thought. I could hear air around one or two of them. The guy came back over and looked at them and said that was kind of normal. And they have the hurricane locks on them so when you engage the hurricane locks, that tightens everything up pretty good. The proof will be when the next hurricane comes through. Also, they have a warranty, which is one reason I picked Andersen, but I don't know if I've ever officially seen anything about it.

Built a new home beginning in 2019 with a combination of 400 series casement windows and 400 series double hung windows. All wood on the inside and vinyl clad on the exterior. The 400 series allows storm windows on the double hung, not just a screen on the exterior, but glass storms with a half screen on the bottom. The frames for the storm windows is hinged at the top and not easily removed. The storm window sash can not be removed without pulling pins that go into the frames and pushing the bottom of the frame away from the house. While removing the sash it would be easy to drop it to the ground and break the glass. Colby and Colby makes storm windows for the their double hung windows. The storm sash are easily removed and cleaned. The Andersen storm sash are almost impossible to get out of the frames and put back into them.
Three of the double hung windows have air infiltration so I called to ask about replacing the bottom weather strip on the lower sash. I was told I had to give them a code on the top of the frame and send photos. I watched an Andersen video on their web site showing how to remove the bottom sash weather stripping. Looked easy. Just pull it out of the track, put some adhesive inside the recess and put the new one in its place. Hardly. The adhesive was holding the strip so tight it ripped apart on the majority of the strip, requiring major cleanup and removal of the adhesive and left over rubber weather strip in pieces.
It took nearly an hour to remove just one piece of weather strip. Colby windows have an easy to remove weather strip on the bottom of each sash. We had those windows in our previous home. Wished I had required the builder to use Colby and Colby instead of Andersen or even Pella windows. Some of the casement windows stick when attempting to open them. Moisture against the frame and seal bonds and it feels like the crank is going to break before the window will go open. Cleaning the 400 series double hung is no picnic either. You must pull down a sash release on each jam and then the inside sash can be pulled in and cleaned. You must remember to push the slide back up to the top before pulling out the top sash or it will cause a major problem. Trust me.

I'm very sorry I went with Andersen. I went for the 400 Series, the better series, and I didn't know you can't put blinds on the inside. And on the outside, it’s my trim. No one told me about that and I am so upset that I spent 24,000 on them. If I had my choice right now, I would be pulling every one out of the house. I am also so fed up with Andersen and my contractor. When the products were installed, I discussed with Tim, the Andersen certified dealer, that I didn't want the renewal or the replacement. I wanted new construction. So he advised me that the 400 series was the best. It's the wood with the covering, the vinyl, and he would put new trim. So, we agreed on it.
Then I went for an Andersen tri-window in the front casement. I don't have to put a blind on there and I'm going to put a curtain. But I had blinds on all my other windows. When this gentleman came to my house, he should have seen this and said that I wasn't going to be able to put them back. He should have said that I'd have to put them on the wall or on the frame. But I don't want to do that and ruin my frame. I'm going to have to now though.
When I called the gentleman at Andersen, he gave me names of companies out of state that could help me. But they couldn't help me and they laughed at me. They said they were just there for the hardware and they didn't know what I was talking about. So I was made a fool out of more than once. Apparently, the guy I talked to at Andersen works in corporate and he didn't even know that with the 400 Series, you couldn't put any kind of window covering on the inside.
I also called Andersen before I talked to him and the rep I got said that after 1999, you wouldn't put window coverings on the 400 Series because now, there's not enough meat inside the window for a bracket to hook on. When I told him that, he said he had to loon into that and asked who told me about it. All in all, I would have been very happy with Andersen but because I can't put the window coverings, I'm not happy at all. I didn't read the reviews and I trusted Tim. But when I looked at the reviews for Andersen, everybody has the same gripe as me. When I discussed my issue with Tim, he told me to put curtains up.
