I have DISH satellite service for my Sylvania TV but the DISH tech support rep was unable to help me and just decided to replace the receiver. However, what I should have done first was do a Google search first because right after my call ended with the rep, I was determined to resolve the problem on my own. So I came across a site that said to verify that the TV was not accidentally muted on the the remote. Then using the Sylvania remote, I was supposed to select the Menu button and look under the TV sound category and keep pressing the "volume" button until I would get sound, but nothing happened. Then I was instructed to **Gently Remove the Smart Card from the Receiver Box, and Reinsert it in the Slot**, the sound FINALLY came back on!! Now, I have to wait for UPS to tell the delivery person to send the receiver back to DISH! *sigh* >: | Anyways, hope this helps you all!!

For the past 2 weeks, my television started to malfunction. While watching a television program, the television would turn off and come back on. This morning I went to turn the television on and it would not turn on. The television does have on the red stand by light, but the TV will not turn on. I called the company and they stated this problem has never been reported to them before. They suggested that I unplug the TV and leave it off for 30 minutes and then plug it into a different power source. This should cause the TV to reboot. All was done and nothing was accomplished. Since I am out of warranty, there is nothing they will do for me.

We bought our Sylvania less than 2 years ago. It worked fine until last night. Now it won't turn on. We've tried everything. First we thought it might be the remote so we changed the batteries. No such luck. What a huge disappointment and a big waste of money. No more Sylvania products will enter this household.

This LC320SS8 32" inch flat screen HDTV has sat in a AC storage unit for the last 6 years new in the box. I've been using it for 3 months now and and there is a dark tinted 3/4 moon shaped vertical tinted black mark on the left side of the screen. My mother bought it before she died. Years later my Bravo 2005 flat screen was stolen in a burglary and I decided to use the Sylvania. I thought it would be great. Sylvania makes great commercial light bulbs so I thought maybe the quality would be just as good as the metal halides they produce so strictly.

I was wrong. The T.V. leaves watermarks from other channels after you change them and they take hours to go away. So, I can't leave it idle on a channel or on pause for more than 5 minutes or see the ghost of the paused movie for hours until it fades. Yet, the dark streak has not faded. This is not random. I do HID lamp research for a living and have so far documented over 400+ Sylvanias with the same exact vertical streak tinted black; the same model, and this spans 2 years of manufacturer. My research proved with cogentness, soundness and validity Sylvania's 400+ with the same issue were offered no concern to fix it or help by Sylvania for any of the people who had this problem.

Sylvania is an old brand like ** and most of the 400+ people were older, trusting of the company and on retirement. It is sad they are being taken advantage of, saving for sometimes 4 years to buy this T.V. on their retirement. I sell about 1,000 Sylvania metal halides a week with my company. I wrote Sylvania and told them I was switching to another brand of halides (they said they were of another division). I said "well if you can't contact that other division.. then my 5000$ bi-weekly order will be cancelled." They told me very rudely that I must not have heard them right. So now I give 120,000$ a year to their biggest rival company. Sylvania sent me a new T.V. and I gave it to an elderly lady who had been scammed by the Sylvania T.V. division. I will not renew my contract with Sylvania until they have a recall on these models from 2007-on.

My dad gave his TV like 2-3 years ago. It worked fine and all but until November of 2013, it started to act up. One of them is the volume problem - it continues to go up or down and when I press the volume button to lower the volume the setting mode appears. Sylvania better fix these problem or they will go on bankrupt for these problems and not being able to help their customers.

I bought a Sylvania 32" LCD TV mid 2011. About a year after I bought it, I turned it on and there was no picture. I first tried calling Sylvania about the problem, but being that the warranty had expired, they refused to help me. Luckily, I bought it from Costco. Their concierge was super helpful as an intermediary between Sylvania and me. With their help, I received a full refund from Sylvania. It's just too bad that Sylvania wouldn't stand behind their product. Now I find out that lots of people with Sylvania TV's from 2011 had the same issue, and many of those problems arose shortly after the warranty expired. Shame on you, Sylvania.

Bought a 22-inch Sylvania TV for a guest bedroom in my house. Used maybe 5 or 6 times. It went off when watching it, and will not come back on. Sylvania said it is out of warranty so there is nothing they can do. I certainly thought they made better products than that and would stand by their product. The woman at Kmart said they had had this problem with these TVs made in 2011. No help from Sylvania.

Fortunately, the TV is for our basement and I do not have to replace it to watch TV in our house. I would love to replace the TV because we have our Wii connected to that TV and our family spends a lot of time down there, especially during the winter months, but TV's cost money. Based off of all the comments it would be a waste of time to call customer service, so hopefully something will come out of all these comments.

I purchased a 26" Sylvania television, Model number LC260SS1 from Kmart in October of 2010. I appear to have been luckier than most with this brand of television. In early 2012, I had a problem with the television volume going up on its own and I could not get it to turn down, whether it was from the TV controls or from the remote. I unplugged it and left it that way, planning on throwing it out in the trash. After about a week, I plugged it back in and it worked fine.

However, as of August 30, 2013, the stupid thing started acting up with the volume again. I really can't afford to go buy another TV but when I do, it will NOT be a Sylvania. From reading the other complaints, it would be pointless and very frustrating to try calling to complain to Customer Service, especially since my TV is three years old. I would hope that someone would help all of people who have purchased this television brand, but that is probably wishful thinking. I plan to tell all of my family and friends not to purchase any Sylvania name brand products as they are junk and obviously, their Customer Service Representatives are a joke.

I wish I had. I purchased this Sylvania 32" LCD TV LC320SS in January 2012 to replace an old, smaller TV. It's a very attractive unit and had a great picture and is easy to set up. Yesterday, I pressed the on button and nothing happened. I tried everything - the on/off button on the unit, new batteries in the remote, checked the surge protector - the cable box works, the TV does not. No light comes on and there is no sound. I checked all the cables and connections. So my great deal ($287 including tax) was not such a great deal. The reviews I've read are right in line with what happened to me - it's almost like they installed a timer and you only get 13-15 months and then nothing. It appears from the reviews that calling customer service will be a waste of time. This was the first and last time I've ever purchased Sylvania. I've been searching but haven't seen anything on a class action suit. I'd be interested!

I am on my second TV already. The first started turning off and wouldn't turn back on after only having it a couple of months. However, the place I bought it from said there was only a 90-day warranty so I was out of luck. They sent me a box and a return number and said to send $150 and TV back and eventually, they would fix it. Well, long story short, I went and bought another and then packaged the dud up and took it back to store to get money back. All worked well... for about a year, year and a half. But now, same problem has surfaced.

Yes, Sylvania knows their stuff is junk and couldn't care less about your repeat business. I would advise not giving them any. These really are junk TVs and certainly not worth fixing, period. The second TV had signs of the problem off and on but managed to last 18 months... way too soon for an $800 TV, in my opinion though. I will never buy another Sylvania and I don't think the stores will carry them with this record of failure going on for much longer. Adios, Sylvania. You deserve to rot in the junkyards of TV hell.

My husband and I purchased a Sylvania 32-inch flat screen television at Target. It just recently quit working. The power button shows red, so I know it is getting the power but it simply will no longer turn on. I have been reading all of the poor reviews for this company and their televisions. I sure wish I would have read them before I spent my hard earned money on Sylvania's poor televisions. It makes me wonder if these complaints are even reaching the upper management of this company or if their quality assurance team even looks at these complaints and tries to improve the quality of their products. I will never buy Sylvania products and I will spread the word about the quality of their products. Thanks a lot Sylvania, now I no longer have a television nor do I have the extra money to purchase a new television.

Please see below Sylvania's response to my email for some kind of compensation below: “Thank you for contacting customer support. Sorry for the inconvenience. Our manufacturer warranty is 90 days parts and labor and a year parts. If you're out of the warranty, you will need to take the unit to a service center with the zip code you have provided. I was unable to find you a service center in your area. However, you do not need to take the unit to one of our centers. You can take the unit to any service center you are aware of. I have tried at least a half a dozen antennae and anytime a huge vehicle passes the house, it stops working. I have literally used up the remote running channel scans over and over, etc. Evidently, if I wish to have choices of more than four channels, I must spend 35 bucks to get a new remote because the universals I have purchased have no provision for the command to scan the channels! No, I am not spending another dime to just get more mediocrity out of this pile of junk. I was wanting a new flat screen TV. I saved and was really happy to be able to catch my Sylvania LCD TV on sale at Target in 2010. I bought the TV, along with the warranty for the TV because I wanted to protect my investment. I had the TV for 2 1/2 years before a line appeared down the middle up the screen. I had recently moved so I don't know if something happened with moving, although I made a point to be extra careful with the TV. I contacted my warranty dept. They sent me free via UPS a box for set, packaging and return label. So I sent my TV off and the repair was completed, no charge.

Currently, I have an issue with the volume but it's also covered under my warranty; so I am confident it will be handled without any problems. Products these days aren't built to last, but I am very satisfied with my purchase and will continue to use this brand. My advice for consumers is to spring for the warranty or be stuck with issues that will cost you more in the long run. If my TV would go out, and I hope not, I'd purchase a new one. Heck I got one from Walmart Black Friday for only $178.

I was so shocked that I almost had a stroke, ripping wires out, yanking the TV off a table, and throwing it out in the snow. Thank God, it snowed last night. Smoke filled the building and I had to open doors and sliders to clean the air. This was frightening. A lot of times, I have left TVs on for my very old Cocker Spaniel when I am not at home. However, just before my extended warranty ran out, I too started having the problem of the TV not powering on. Sylvania not only reneged on its contractual agreement for the extended warranty, their customer service was extremely rude, hateful and one rep actually cursed me. If I could have found out where his office was located, I would have given serious thought to paying him a visit face to face.

I'm 6'5" and 265lbs, a veteran with Special Forces background in the Army and I don't think he'd run his ** in the same manner to my face. Anyway, since then, I've had the TV in the shop to repair on two different occasions, once for about $115 and the other time it cost me just over $300. Neither time has permanently fixed the power on problem. Currently, I still have the set, but continually have to unplug the unit for 20 to 30 minutes and then attempt to power back up. About 60% of the time it will come back on, other times I have to repeat the process, one heck of a way to watch a little TV, huh?

We used to just leave the set turned on, but eventually it started powering down on its own so we then had to start using the unplugging method. Sylvania is a pathetic company, they knowingly sell junk, and I sincerely hope they go out of business. Not only do I not buy anything they make, I've actually gone to various merchants who carry Sylvania products and tell them I will not trade with them at all just because they carry this outlaw company’s products. I called their suggested repair person for my area who told me when I called him that this was a common problem and the repair would probably cost a minimum of $200 with no guarantees. This is obviously a huge problem and I, along with many other Americans, am tired of working long and hard hours just to find a short time later that I have purchased defective equipment.

My almost new Sylvania TV started cutting off and coming back on after about 10 minutes The last time it cut off after doing this for approximately one week, it would not come back on. I called Sylvania and they informed me a year was up and I must send it to a repair shop they are no longer responsible. They gave me the name of two repair shops in Cleveland, Ohio which are nowhere near my home and they do not come to your home, you must bring your TV in for repairs.

I am an elderly lady and the TV is large and mounted on the wall. I am not capable physically of completing this task. I finally got it off of the wall mount with God's help and now it needs to be taken to a reputable dealer. Sylvania could give me no more referrals even though their company is in Ohio. Their product and customer service is not acceptable. TVs are not cheap. Repair is not cheap. I have TVs a lot older than this Slyvania TV and they work great and have been working great for many years.

After reading the numerous complaints that are exactly like mine, I think Slyvania knew and knows it sells and has continued to sell a faulty product and they have no intentions of helping customers. Their warranties only last three months for parts and labor you pay. Why should I pay more to Sylvania when they are knowingly making and continuing to sell a substandard piece of equipment? They should be stopped and forced to make their unsatisfied customers whole. They have no intentions of doing this and their entire attitude is not helpful. They tend to give customers the runaround. This is the first and last time I will ever purchase a Sylvania product. You product and customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

If any one does decide to file charges against Sylvania for some type of compensation for our faulty products, time spent trying to get help over the telephone. I am tired of buying faulty products at ridiculous prices and these kind of consumer actions must stop. If a store sells a brand they should stand besides that customer and supply them with quality merchandise. Tell me, how does your company get away with mistreating customers this way? After reading the numerous complaints mainly dealing with the same problems many others are having identical to mine, I have decided I want to sue Sylvania and get my money back, my installaton fees back and any monies I must pay to have it repaired.

Two years to the date of the warranty went out, the TV started shutting off and then come back on, just to shut off again. I called BrandsMart and they said the warranty was out, so we took it to a repair shop and after about 4 months of waiting, the repairman said they were waiting on the parts. When they finally came in about a month later, we had to pay the shop $320 to fix it. They gave us a 3-month warranty and now about the 4th month, the TV is doing the same thing again. I cannot afford to buy a new TV now or get this one fixed again. I wish I had read this site before we bought a Sylvania TV. Never again in life will we buy any Sylvania products. Money wasted.

I am sure that this TV was sold with a manufacturer's defect and in as much as I see on complaint sites that this has happened to many people who purchased this set, this cannot be a coincidence.

After speaking to the Sylvania company representatives, I am told that my options are repair and labor at my expense or replacement. The shipping is $50.00 at my expense and return the other TV within 20 days, again shipping at my expense. They will no doubt refurbish that TV and resale it. The replacement TV is the same model that I am returning and only refurbished. So I bought a faulty TV which representative, Maria, confirms that there has been problems with that model. And for extra $100.00, I am getting the same defective TV; only refurbished and a phone number to buy an extended warranty because they will not extend the warranty on the replacement refurbished TV.

Never buy any electronics from Sylvania. You may be inadvertently buying used or refurbished represented as new or even defective product that they are aware of at the time of sale then they sell that to someone else and still turn a profit. There is something illegal here.

About a month later, we get the TV back with a statement saying warranty void no repair. It seems when we first received the TV, it had a bad plug at the end of the cord which we promptly replaced 10 months ago and this voided the warranty. What does a plug that was replaced 10 months ago have to do with the screen going out. Seems like these people have no concept of customer service.

We are poor and we cannot afford so much money to fix a TV. We can't even go buy a new one. For 7 months now we've had a broken piece of ** in our living room. My kids can't even enjoy any movies. It’s not fair. I hope someone sues this company for selling defective cheap products for an extremely high price knowing full well it will not even last a year.

We got this TV to be the last one we ever buy. Well, I guess we were wrong. Not only are we out on an expensive TV, we are also out the $600.00 we spent on the thing. They should be held accountable for this. If we ever do get the money to get another TV, it will be a Sony. They are a good company with outstanding products. Stay away from Sylvania, they are horrible!

We don't have the $600 to replace this TV because we can't afford it. I have a very low income and I can't just go and get another one. I feel like we were robbed of $600.00 because that's what it cost to buy the TV and now we have a useless TV that doesn't work and no money to get a new one. Sylvania is the worst company you have ever dealt with. I hope I can save someone else the hassle of dealing with this ** company. A one-year warranty on a $600.00 TV is absolutely stupid. I bought $9.00 cookie sheets and those have a 5-year warranty! That is nuts! I wish I could give my kids a new TV for Christmas but I can't. I used my tax return to buy this damn TV. I hope they go out of business because they really suck.

Sylvania said they only have 3 months warranty on labor and 1 year in parts. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Who will install the parts if they won't pay for the labor?

I paid $299 for the TV, that's with shipping and tax. I got a cheap TV and getting cheap warranty and service. So if you're looking at a TV, don't look at Sylvania. Don't gamble with your money. My Sylvania TV is a piece of junk. So that goes without saying what Sylvania TVs are.

I, being a low income senior lady, had to save many months to afford my Sylvania 32' Combo TV, in May 2010. In November 2010, the remote would not turn the TV on, then when turned on using the set, it shuts off after a few minutes. I called Sylvania three times, and I was told to call a repairman, and maybe the warranty would cover the parts. Another problem! There are no TV repairmen in my small town. I finally found one, an hour away, in another city. He made it here several days later.

Now my only TV is back in his shop, waiting for an ordered part, which could take two weeks, and the bill will be at least $85.00! I have read the other complaints, and see this is a common problem. I thought Sylvania was a good brand. Not anymore. I will never advise anyone to buy anything from them (in fact, I just advised a neighbor, who was TV shopping, not to buy Sylvania). I am out $85.00, and had not TV for weeks (seniors do use one for entertainment).

They finally came down to $150 with only 30 days warranty on labor. I took my TV on 8/13/10 to DTR and still I have no TV or any communication from DTR. Everyone is giving me the run-around. I only paid $299 for the TV and I think $275 or even $150.

Is it too much to have a TV fixed that is under warranty? I have got nothing accomplished working with 3 companies: Sylvania Warranty Department, DTR, and Target. DTR’s no. is 1-800-373-3539; Target’s is 1-800-440-0680. The manager I spoke with was in Bixby, OK. His name is Rickey.

I called customer service and talked to "Brian" and he told me my TV was out of warranty and there was nothing I could do. I then searched the internet to find that this is a common and ongoing problem with these televisions. I called back and spoke with Dan and told him of my displeasure and he proceeded to shout back at me saying, "**, lady, I didn't break your TV." I asked to speak to a manager, "Julio" and he said he would extend my warranty and told me to call customer service.

Of course, when I called no one answers. I spent $400 on a television for my family as a Christmas gift only to have it fail 14 months later. In this economy, I don't have the funds to pay for the repair (which I understand is the exact price I paid for the unit). This is robbery. This is unacceptable. How are these companies allowed to rip people off like this? You would think that for the amount of money I paid for this unit, it would last for more than 14 months. This isn't a disposable purchase. These people should be held accountable for faulty equipment.

She said, "Well then, I will name places where it can be repaired." Well, there was nothing close to where I live so she said send a money order of $115 to the above address and they will send you a box to put the TV in and send it to be repaired and the repair will take about 2 months. She also said if I have any questions after my talking to her to call the above number which is the admin. office.

I bought a 37" flat screen LCD television on January 25, 2009. Last month, a large vertical black stripe showed up. I called the 800 number. They had me call their administration office (the voice inbox was full many days so no message was left). I did get through and they approved parts only to repair and referred a shop. The shop wanted $100 to check it and that would go for the repair. The shop called and said the LCD screen needed to be replaced and that was not "a part".

I called Sylvania again, full voicemail at their administration building. I called the customer support again. They told me to keep trying at administration. They also told me that I would need to ship the television back to Ohio to be repaired. So, I am out $100 bucks. Now, I have to ship the TV. They told me that Sylvania would subtract the $100 off their bill. The manager at Sylvania told me that he would email the administration. I think this company is doing the runaround with me. I know that I will now need to pick up my television set and send it 3 states away. How much will FedEx charge to ship? Anybody else love this company like I do? (That is a joke.) Customer service is bad just like their television.

I called company and was told to try unplugging set for a period of time. This did not work so I e-mailed them and their answer was it would have to be repaired by a service center. I was not happy. However, it then was okay. Then, about three weeks ago the remote died and I was forced to order it from the company since they told me noone else sold it. I paid an extra $10 for two day delivery. It was not delivered in 2 days. When I e-mailed them protesting this fact they, essentially, told me tough. They had the $10 and I was out of luck.

The new remote control does not work properly and, once again, the VCR is in terrible shape. I do not want to bring this unit to their service center for repair since they have proven themselves to be a deceitful and shoddy organization. This was not a small purchase for me. Do I have any recourse?

The consequences is that I have a non-working VCR and if I have to have it repaired I will be forcde to pay even more money.
