Purchased these to help with Hearing. They have not worked right since the day I got them. They have been turned in to Widex And they are audiologist multiple times. The last time I receive them back in the Hearing Aid piece does not even amplify, I can hear better without it then with it on. Widex Has a three-year warranty, but they have yet to do anything. I am told they replaced the entire inside parts of both the Hearing Aid and the receiver and they still don’t work.

I'm very happy with my new hearing aids. I have been able to understand what people are saying in a crowded room. That was one of my biggest problems. I have one exception, the Bluetooth. I'm not sure if the problem is my Bluetooth, my phone, wifi or what, but the sound will cut in and out. I don't really notice this when I just use the hearing aids for normal hearing. But it's annoying when you listen to music and it cuts in and out. It's mostly in my left hearing aid. This has been a problem since day one. If I could get this resolved, I would be 100% satisfied.

Have been to two different Widex hearing aid stores for problems: aids do not work! I rec'd a three year warranty when purchased. I truly can say the warranty means nothing, since days after being sent back several times to the company, the same problem occurs. Changing filters and batteries and cleaning, both hearing aids and professionally ear cleaning (as suggested by the audiologist), I am back to the same loss of hearing with the hearing aids. What can you offer as an alternative suggestion? I am very frustrated since I was told that these aids were "top of the line". I need help!!!!

Very frustrated. When they work they are amazing. I have an iPhone 8 running software version 12.2. Under Settings-Accessibility-MFi Hearing Devices-Devices, where it says "HEARING DEVICE MIC VOLUME" Every 10 or so seconds it goes from 50% to 94% all by itself, stays there briefly, then goes back to 50%. I can sit and watch it adjust itself. In the Beyond App, it looks like someone is clicking on "Zen" then back to "Zen" when the mic adjusts itself. In my ear, while listening to "Universal" or "Zen" or "Zen2" I get a pause of silence, then a pop that correlates to the mic volume adjusting itself.

I have: Deleted and reloaded Beyond App; Turned off access to every other app that uses the mic; Replaced batteries; Had my Bluetooth "Forget This Device" and then reconnect it; Took my phone out of the case to make sure the case wasn't pressing one of the side buttons; Turned everything on and off repeatedly, including phone and hearing aids; Deleted the App and just controlled hearing aids from System Settings; "Chatted" with a customer service rep. His advice? Turn off Wi-Fi. Someone help me please. Please. Please.

Ever since I got these hearing aids in June 2016 I have not found them all that great for the most part. In fact, last year, my the volume (quality of sound) in my left hearing aid had decreased quite a bit. Based on his assessment of my hearing and my ear canal, the hearing aid specialist who initially fitted me, and sold me the hearing aids, suggested that I get custom ear tips/earmolds for the hearing aids (Widex Unique model U-FS) and also advocated that I might want to get an extra ear-mold for each ear. Thank heavens for that because by June 2018 the volume/quality of sound had deteriorated quite noticeably. I took them into my specialist's office and the receptionist replaced the faulty earmold with the extra one.

Not too long later, I had a problem with that one, so she sent the hearing aid (with the mold containing the receiver) to the company's main office. They repaired it and sent it back. That hearing aid had been working okay until just the last few days. All of a sudden the volume/quality of sound has diminished quite noticeably once again. Not only that, but over the past year, the quality of sound in my right hearing aid has also diminished. I follow the maintenance instructions and use the cleaning instruments provided to get wax out (well, in the right side one because the extra mold created for the left hearing aid does not have a vent, which had not been a problem for me until now.)

The whole thing is very frustrating because I've paid around $5000 (after an initial discount) for these hearing aids. I should NOT be having to continuously ask people to repeat what they've said to me, but I've had to do that on a number of occasions -- especially now, that the volume/hearing quality of both hearing aids has diminished noticeably. People wonder why the quality is so poor when I paid so much for them.

My payment contract included insurance for the hearing aids for four years, but evidently the insurance for the receivers (for the earmolds) evidently only covered two years, and I was told that new receivers would cost around $200-300 for each one. I'm going to go back to the office and ask that the earmold for my right hearing aid be replaced with the extra one, assuming that the receiver in the mold is the problem. However, I assume I may have to send the left hearing aid back to the company's head office for repairs once again. (I'll get the receptionist to look both of them over just in case the problem is something she can rectify herself, which would be nice.)

Suffice it to say that, based on my experience, I would not recommend this hearing aid model to others. It's possible that I could have gotten lemons, but that's debatable. That being said, I have been using the ComDex for the Widex Zen and for phone calls (on my iPhone), and I'm wondering whether that has actually ended up affecting the performance of my hearing aids.

Last point -- digital hearing aids are extremely expensive, so buyers/users should expect that the performance of the hearing aids remains at least in the range of 7 to 10 (on a scale from 1 to 10) for the four years for which they're insured. It's terribly embarrassing to have to continuously ask other people to repeat what they've said to me, especially in cases where they know are aware I wear hearing aids.

I love my new hearing aids, but the only problem I have is not knowing whether to pull them out of my ear by taking off the hearing aid itself, or pulling on the thin tube closest to the ear tip inside my ear, close to the area inside. One of the tubes broke not long after I got them, and because my ear canals are very narrow and it's sometimes difficult to gently push the wire in, I'm worried that this will happen again. One audiologist said to pull off the hearing aid itself first, then gently pull out the tube. Another suggested pulling from the inside of the ear and then taking off the hearing aid. Which is correct?

Hi Ruth, thank you for sharing your experience and we are glad to see that you are getting great benefit from your Widex hearing aids. To your question on how to be remove from your ear, it typically depends on the ear anatomy and style of device. In your case, it seems as it the receiver may be sitting deep in the ear canal so it would probably be best to remove by pulling on the part closer to the ear canal. Though, we suggest asking your hearing specialist for their recommendation at your next appointment. Thank you

I’ve never use digital aids until the audiologist recommended I try the Widex. The digital aid has a receiver that goes from the behind the ear into the mold. This receiver last about a month, sometimes a few weeks more. Water or oil from my ear gets into the receiver causing it to “short out”. This makes for a very muffled sound. The audiologist I was dealing with told me there is nothing we can do about it, the receivers are $80+ for one. Since the hearing aid is out of warranty now, I will have to keep shelling out $80+ every month. I’ve tried to contact Widex through the online website but I haven’t had any luck. Do yourself a favor and never buy the 440 Super.

Went dead this time. Wouldn't charge a battery. Again, 'Fixed' except it wasn't. It again went out, this time having static in the earpiece. I DON'T WANT IT FIXED, I WANT A REPLACEMENT. Like a bad car, this is a lemon and can't be fixed. I'm starting to tell the world that this is not a good company to work with on hearing aids. I have two Widex Unique 440's and they generally work well but have had to send them in for repair more than once. One aid started playing xylophone music into my ear, very rhythmical. I had to ask my wife to listen closely to the aid and she could hear this music as well. I have managed to stop the music by turning the aid off and then on again, which corrects the problem. It has happened twice now. The Call-DEX is very useful in making and receiving telephone calls on my iPhone 6 Super.

However, I keep my iPhone in my pocket with the Call-DEX attached and this can affect the connection by movement - i.e. sitting down can put strain on the connection. The iPhone Super 6 is long and is safer in a jacket pocket, when wearing a jacket, otherwise the phone and call-DEX in the pocket is subject to wear and damage. I have also had to purchase the RC DEX as there are times when one needs to turn the volume up or down to suit local conditions. It is a pity that the hearing aid cannot combine both the CAll DEX and RC DEX in the aid. I would be prepared to buy the latest model if it corrects the problems mentioned but selling in or trading in my existing aids is not viable. My previous Widex aids were P38's and they were marvelous for music.

However, over the last few months they cannot maintain connectivity. When they lose connectivity the volume declines substantially and I cannot restore without a trip to the audiologist. My audiologist has reset the aids and I gain full power, but the problem is back and becoming a nuisance. The aids are about one year old. My second complaint is the connectivity to the iPhone. The mic switches to a speakerphone mic and will pick up all background noises making the call noisy for the person on the other end. Wired should give the option to adjust the microphone on the phone and not have to buy another device for a discreet conversation.

I can hear the aids say "Telecoil" so I know I am in the correct program - but no sound comes through the T-coil. It's as if the hearing aids are on mute. My audiologists tells me that since the telecoil works in church - the hearing aids are functioning in t-coil program and it's the 2 different PACs that are the problem - not the Widex hearing aids.

Both PACs have told me their loop systems were on and working fine when I was there and could not hear through my t-coil. I find it strange that 2 different PACs in different cities would both have problems with their loop systems. I also think it strange that the loop at church works when the loops at these other venues do not. I like the Widex - but am reluctant to pay around $6000 for the Widex if not all features are going to work correctly.

I have purchased three sets of hearing aids in the past 10-12 years and they have all “worked” to various degrees of accuracy and success. When my granddaughter received her Doctorate Degree in Audiology three years ago from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, my whole hearing knowledge base increased dramatically. My granddaughter, who loves her occupation, arranged for me to visit her at her office in Atlanta, Georgia and take some advanced tests. I did and the rest is history as the Widex Evoke 440 system is by far superior to anything I had read about or tried in the past.

TV Controller II: Linking it to the TV is great as I now have my own direct private Bluetooth channel. Widex App: Installing it on my iPhone is amazing in so many ways. I like the universal mode the best as it is constantly adjusting the North-South-East-West directional sound. Ringing Noise: One of the most amazing things about the new system is the noise canceling effect of “ear ringing”. The ringing is simply not there any longer when I am wearing my Widex Evoke 440s. My “brain” does not have to work so hard to process these false frequencies. Ear Pieces: It goes without saying that the earpieces fit well and are very comfortable at all times. Super generation of this hearing aid device. Keep your great innovative technology moving.

The hearing aids were provided by the Veterans Adm. about 1.5 years ago. They worked for about 3 months. They have been sent back to Widex, for repair, at least 3 times and been replaced once. They work for about 1 hour then fail. They will not stay connected to my iPhone. At my last visit to audiology about 2 months ago my audiologist contacted Widex for about the 4th or 5th time and Widex finally admitted that they have a software problem. To date it has not been resolved! The V.A. has decided to place them in the secular file and is going to issue new ones from a different manufacturer.

Prior experience with hearing aids was bad enough so that I was discouraged from even wearing them. Tired of trying new ones as all seemed same. Background noise was overwhelming in crowd situations. Sound quality was poor and unpleasant. When my ENT recommended CROS, the concept seemed sensible with my uneven hearing loss. Almost no usable hearing in left ear, quite a bit of usable hearing in right ear. Audiologist at Texas ENT has been super in optimizing settings. I'm very happy with my new Widex aids.

I purchased my Widex Beyond hearing aids in April of 2018. At first they were great. I could hear so much more than I could with my older pair from Rexton. That soon changed within my trial period. First the right one would go totally off and then pop back on in a minute which was annoying. Then the right one would only stay charged for a couple of hours. I thought it might be the charger and changed it to the other side but that didn’t help. Then the left one began to stay charged for only a few hours. When this happens you are showing 100% charge then all of a sudden your hearing is gone and the hearing aid is showing 0%. Family Hearing Center in Knoxville was great every time I went in. They checked the charger, no problem. They contacted Widex who had them sent back.

A couple of weeks later I had the hearing aids back with new doors. Again they worked great at first but same old problems. I even tried them without the phone to see if that was the problem which it was not. They were checked, adjusted or whatever and still a problem. The right one was the main problem. I again took them back to Knoxville, a 40 minute drive one way, and they decided to send the right one back to be replaced and I insisted they both should be replaced since they both had problems. Again a wait to ship out and a new pair back in. During this time you are wearing a pair of loaners that are not connected to your phone and not extremely clear. I have now had the new pair about a month or a little more and two days ago the left hearing aid suddenly lost charge, yesterday the right hearing aid remained charged for 5 hours and today about 7.

I was in a Restaurant when one went out and a family get together when the other lost charge. It is beyond frustrating to suddenly lose most of your hearing in these situations. I have made sure my iPhone has the latest updates. My hearing aids are cleaned and well cared for. I took out a loan of $5,000.00 to pay for this defective product. After reading all of these reviews with the same problems I have three questions: 1. Has Widex issued a recall on these hearing aids? 2. Is there a class action suit in process? 3. Is Widex issuing a refund on the defective products?

My Widex Beyond hearing aids have greatly improved my hearing and I'm very pleased overall. I was excited to have the bluetooth connection feature to my iPhone 6 for phone calls and other streaming (IOS12, app version 1.2.2). First there's a loud click whenever the bluetooth connection. And when a phone call streams to hearing aids -if I've turned the volume down in noisy conditions, it resets the ambient sound level of the hearing aids to "normal" volume. Worse than that, certain phone apps seem to trigger the volume reset as well: for some reason Google Maps does (perhaps in anticipation of providing turn by turn directions); and Photos (perhaps in anticipation of streaming the sound from a movie?). In any case, it's sufficiently annoying that I normally keep bluetooth on my phone turned off. Your suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you for sharing your positive experience with your Widex hearing aids. Regarding those click noises, the cicks (beeps) you hear occur when the iPhone sends a volume change request, which may occur when your start streaming or begin a phone call. These beeps confirm that the volume was changed and helps the iPhone’s native hearing aid app and the Beyond app stay synced. When audio begins streaming to the hearing aids, the iPhone may set the volume back to the default level, and can only be adjusted after the audio starts streaming. Depending upon the loss, lifestyle/listening needs of the user, along with counseling, the hearing professional chooses additional programs. The aids are highly adaptive, and they have within them (depending upon the device) a system called sound classes that assesses and classifies the input in the environment. Those classifications may include some or all of the programs referenced below. There are times that a special program dedicated to one of those classes is indicated. If this is true I am returning my Widex units. I also was disappointed to learn I would have to wear a unit around my neck to watch TV. The ReSound unit streamed directly to my ears without having to hang something around my neck. When will Widex get up to date with modern technology?

I then called the repair line at the Healthpartners Clinic and was told this was a "Known problem." Why wasn't I informed about this known problem when I purchased these (I took out a loan. They were so expensive). I insisted on a new pair, and the friendly audiologist team got approval. I picked up my new hearing aids 2-days ago and guess what? The battery low tone came on the day after I wore them, AND they are not adjusted right now to fit my ear. I am SOOOO frustrated. All the clinic can tell me is to bring them back and they will send them in on a "rush." How am I to know this will fix them? It hasn't even been 4 weeks. I would say be cautious and check around before you buy this brand.

I can discriminate words very, very clearly, and my devices learn my environment if I change the volume in the same place 3 times. Way better than the top of the line ones I just got out of. To those people who gave poor reviews: make sure you have a well trained audiologist who knows the product. My audiologist had questions while I was being fitted, dialed Widex technicians who answered immediately, and in no time, answered the question and resolved the issue. I purchased these very expensive rechargeable hearing aids in February of 2018 and have had endless problems. First the left hearing aid kept going off (not enough charge). Widex sent me a "new" one. Then it continued doing the same thing after a couple of weeks. Finally, we sent both hearing aids and the charger back to Widex. Now, after about a month, BOTH hearing aids are not charging completely (only hold a charge for about 5 hours).

I have tried to see if it's the hearing aid (it is not because BOTH hearing aids just stop working randomly). Then I tried to see if it's maybe one of the "docking" slots on the charger (it is not, because I put them in exactly the same slot every night and BOTH hearing aids are giving me problems). Right now, I am just so fed up that I am just returning it ALL and going to try a different brand. By the way, I also tried NOT connecting them to my phone thinking the link might be inadvertently draining the battery (this has not remedied the situation, either). I AM SO FRUSTRATED.

About two months or so ago I went into Genesis Hearing Clinic for a hearing test. After the test I was fitted with the Widex Beyond. I have had nothing but problems since day one. I have already been back to the clinic due to problems six times. Supposedly a new hearing aid pair was ordered. The new ones were no different, and I'm still having problems. There is absolutely no excuse for what I've gone through. I've been back to the clinic because of what I called beeping, it was constant. The audiologist worked on the aids, and I left hoping everything would be okay now. Wrong. It was short lived. Then I had a constant squealing, so again back to the clinic.

Again, more changes. Then two days ago it was so loud I had to jerk them out of my ears. I could not control the sound with the button on the aids, and I don't have my cell phone with me at all times. While visiting my daughter, in front of her TV, I could not clearly hear what was being said, and once again without my cell phone right there, I was unable to control the sound. Now again I am going into the clinic because of all the problems. This is beyond ridiculous, and absolutely no excuse for it.

I have worn hearing aids since December 1991, and have never had such problems. I traded in my Resound when I got these Widex. I had worn that aid for years with no problems. The only problem I ever experienced was it was too loud in certain restaurants. I took the aid to Hearing Aid Express, and they corrected it and I never experienced another problem. I am so sorry I went to the Widex Hearing Aid Clinic, and all I want is a refund of monies, and not have to deal with these problems again. Enough is enough. $5,000.00 is a lot of money to dole out and experience the problems I have had. The only satisfactory outcome here is a refund although the audiologist informed me it's past the 30 days. I think having to return for adjustments or corrections six times already should be sufficient to make this refund.

I purchased the Widex Beyond 330’s in March 2018, due to failing a CDL physical because I couldn’t hear a whisper at even 1 foot away. I have moderate hearing loss in the left ear, and profound loss in the right ear, with the added problem of tinnitus. The audiologist recommended the Beyond 330’s because of the iPhone compatibility and the versatility of other product connectivity, such as the Com-Dex and the apps. The aids worked well for about 2-3 months, then started randomly increasing and decreasing the volume on their own, it goes to extremely loud for a few seconds and then it goes back down to normal. I usually have an extremely difficult time understanding what someone directly in front of me is saying because of over-amplified background noises. The clarity sometimes is no better than a $10 amplifier that I tried earlier.

The Com-Dex is a great concept when it works properly, but it has a lot of downfalls. It has no on-off switch, no volume control button, and I have to hold it in front of my mouth for the other person to hear me speak. The volume can only be adjusted with the phone buttons after a call is in place. And plugging a loop cord together while driving a semi truck can be dangerously tricky, since the Bluetooth doesn’t stay connected very well. (The phone is less than an arm's reach away.)

It also loses connection when I put the phone in my pants pocket in to order to talk and work. I’ve mentioned all these issues to the audiologist, with little to no resolution. I’m really disappointed that such a highly regarded and expensive hearing aid is no better than this. I would like some helpful advice as to getting these aids working properly because I can’t afford to lose my career as a truck driver. Thanks.

Widex and Widex Beyond do not improve my hearing acuity at all. The aids do enhance the volume but louder is not enough. With the Beyond, I hoped I would have a better experience, but have been sorely disappointed. I continue to have to ask the speaker to repeat words. I hear the sound but cannot decipher the words at times. In a large room, with one person talking, I do not understand much of what is being said.

I have tried to adjust the Sound menu many, many times especially to understand the dialogue on the TV, but to no avail. I was not given any instructions regarding Treble, Bass, Middle Presets. Considering the advanced technology of the aids, the expertise of the audiologist, and the cost to the consumer it seems reasonable to expect individualized instructions. I recently purchased TV ears for $125.00 from Amazon. They work perfectly! I can hear the tv normally - acuity is great, words are crystal clear - without Widex in my ears. I am baffled. Why do one-size-fits-all tv ears work so well and customed designed Widex hearing aids that cost 1000s of dollars do not? On the plus side, they do decrease tinnitus so I wear them for that purpose.

I purchased Widex Hearing Aids a year ago at a cost of $5,000.00. The main reason I purchased them is because they claimed they were the only hearing aids designed for the iPhone. They did initially work reasonably with the iPhone but over the last 6 months they cannot maintain connectivity. When they lose connectivity the volume declines substantially. I contacted Widex several times and they can only say they are working on the problem. In the meantime I do presentations to large groups as a part of my job which I will lose if this problem keeps up. What makes the problem worse is that my health plan forced me to purchase through Amplifon and they just do not understand the difference between a trial period and defective products.

I wore Widex Hearing Aids for 12 years and had hardly any problem. However, they gradually lost their ability to correct my hearing so I purchased the Widex Beyond 440 in April. I have severe tinnitus and moderate hearing loss, so I was happy to try out the Zen program. I wore this pretty continuously until 2 weeks ago (August). When I returned to my audiologist thinking one of the earring aids had stopped working, she informed me it was my ears which had stopped working! I had a "significant" change in hearing after a relatively stable hearing loss for 12 years! I still have not gotten into seeing the specialist, but I had no sudden exposure to loud sound or infection. Has this pattern ever happened before? The Zen program was programmed by my PhD audiologist. Now I am afraid to use it.

I bought my Widex behind the ear hearing aids and while they were still under warranty the transmitters in both aids had to be replaced. I thought it strange that something that cost €6,000 would have parts that seemed to go so quickly. This was something I made known to the audiologist. These aids, I can assure you are looked after extremely well. Each evening they are cleaned and placed in the dry box (the tables are replaced on a regular basis). Filters and rubber tips are also replaced each month. A year later and I am now out of warranty when the right transmitter goes, I fought paying the €190 it cost to replace and stated I wanted the aids checked as I felt there was a problem somewhere that this was happening.

According to Widex no problems were detected. A couple of months down the line and now the left transmitter has given up!!! I contacted my audiologist who in turn contacted Widex. Their reply...I am out of warranty and there is nothing they can do. What a lovely way to treat customers. There is clearly something wrong as this now looks like it is an annual event. During the initial session with the company I purchased the aids from nobody made me aware that the transmitters would need to be replaced on such a regular basis. The bottom line now is I have hearing aids which are absolutely no good to me.

Sometimes both hearing aids connect, sometimes only the left hearing aid does. Also when using the Bluetooth connectivity to hear phone conversations, the iPhone automatically switches to FaceTime then drops the call completely. So help please. I received my Widex behind-the-ear hearing aids about 18 months ago and have been quite pleased. But within the past two weeks, I'm finding that the aids are depowering and minutes later may or may not turn back on. I've taken out the batteries and replaced them several times; have repositioned the aids; and actually put in brand new batteries. Some days are totally fine but this is becoming unpredictable as there is no "low battery" warning accompanying this.

Tried resolving issue my self, without success. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Transmitter went only after owing hearing aids for less than two years. Cost to replace was $100. Unfortunately I lost a hearing aid, due to being in and out of hospital last summer, cost to replace was $400. Batteries can be difficult to change due to very small size. I have the Dream model. Everything was sent back to the company and after getting them back within a week it started again. I have contacted my audiologist and they have talked to their rep who has told them my options are send everything back in again or just start using daily batteries. The whole reason I chose this brand was because it was highly recommended and I like the recharging feature. I've only had these a couple of months and am totally disappointed. As you all know, they aren't cheap and why should I have to keep something I no longer have faith in. I will be returning everything to my audiologist and then will do what I have to do to get my money back and move on to another brand.

Several years ago, bacterial meningitis took my hearing from one ear and approximately half my hearing in my other ear. I knew *nothing* about hearing aids. My audiologist guided me to use WIDEX. I use only one aid. Still coping with my sudden hearing loss, I simply followed her advice. For a year or so, thing were fine - mind you, I had nothing to compare my experience to. Then, the frequency of feedback and lack of clarity increased steadily. My audiologist sent the aid to WIDEX. Widex indicated it could not identify the problem and provided a new aid. After a few months, the feedback and lack of clarity began again. The warranty on the aid ended 5 mos. ago. Today, in my classroom, the aid simply stopped working. I've cleaned it, replaced all that can be replaced. I make certain to keep it dry. This is a tremendous hardship. I no longer have a warranty (and lost touch with my audiologist).

Most of my friends are advising me to switch to the PHONAK BRIO. I would prefer to save my money and simply have WIDEX either correctly repair this aid (which cost over $3000, if memory serves) or replace it. It seems a far more convenient thing to have COSTCO nearby should a problem arise with a PHONAK aid, than to have to find a way to communicate with a representative from WIDEX. I welcome any input and guidance. This teacher has one more month to teach before summer break and the LAST THING I NEED is a non-functioning hearing aid in my middle school classroom!

But since then, I had wax in one but knock on wood they have been wonderful for me since then. My husband is experiencing hearing loss now so I hope that he can adapt as well as I have and again be able to enjoy hearing again.

I have purchased the Bluetooth receiver, not the prettiest thing I have hung on my neck but as an owner of a B&B it makes it so easy to take phone calls on my Moto Z android phone without having to be in the same room as the phone. Distance is quite limited but it works fairly well for my application. Will purchase a new set definitely.

Was told by provider, that they were best brand going, had tried my brother's over the ear Beltone, sounds were great, fitted March 28 2017, called provider back to tell of a whistling problem, continual, told to set to lowest setting and was told to come back in Aug 2018, tolerated trouble 6 months till appointment, audiologist put a larger set of foam pads and reprogrammed, going home 70 miles they were whistling and feedback, was told to push them as far back in canal with pinky finger as possible, I did that and with 2 hours had major earache in both ears, called provider back next day after I found blood on pillow next morning, was told, you have 2 options, either put the small foam on and deal with the whistling, or keep the large foam on and deal with the uncomfortable feeling of having a football shoved in my ear.

Provider set new appointment for Feb 22 2018, when I met with doctor, was informed she no longer participates in the AARP/HearUSA program and that after this appointment all future visits would be out of pocket, but she would send aids back to Widex if need be, I explained to her that I could hear a kid on the back pew in church take the wrapper off a piece of candy, or if I happen to get a few pieces of sand on my shoes, that it was so loud that it sound like I was walking on bubble wrap, Dr. tried to convince me that was what I should be hearing, I explained to her how loud it was and when I was a teen and in my 20's it wasn’t that loud, then she said I was hard of hearing in my younger years which I know is BS, I could hear a co-workers wrist watch alarm in a room with 12 other people and none of the others could hear it. But the Dr. insisted that was normal.

I tried to tell her I could hear noise ok, but if my wife in the car, or someone sitting beside me in church says something, I have to ask them 2 or 3 times, because voices are still low, if it be a man with low bass, voice or a woman with a high pitched voice, I can’t understand them, and I can remove my right aid and hear voices better without it, than with it in.

My problem now, I have a $4000 set of hearing aids that is past the 90 day refund or exchange, a Dr. who no longer participates in the HearUSA program and they want me to go to a new audiologist , I have a feeling he might not want to take on someone else’s problem, so I have a $4000 mantel piece, I can’t wear them because of pain and whistling, like a tight pair of shoes, they may look good, but they sure do hurt, I put them in the closet never to wear again.

I also changed from AARP/United Health Care to BCBS/Advantage, I ask them about a new pair of hearing aids, these through United Health Care I paid $1835 each, on the Advantage plan they said I could get the same ones for $599 each, my question is to AARP, why are you sponsoring a company like UHC and saying you are helping seniors, when BCBS has nothing to do with AARP, and could have got my hearing aids at less than 1/2 what I was charged. My biggest question and this is to Widex, why have you not recalled these aids, every negative comment is like mine... They amplify noise… But they don't amplify voice?

Let me count the ways I'm upset with Widex. I had a pair of 5-year-old ITE Widex aids, along with an accompanying M-Dex. Everything worked fine, although the screen on the M-Dex no longer lights. Eventually I found a site online that helped me figure on which buttons to push to accomplish what I needed. I learned Widex had hearing aids made for iPhone and this appealed to me, though I didn't yet have an iPhone. I ordered the Beyond 330's for trial. I decided I wanted to go for all the bells and whistles, so I switched to the 440's. I also got the Com-Dex and the Uni-Dex.

I didn't mind wearing the Com-Dex, but was very disappointed with the Uni-Dex. Yes, I could stream music from my laptop, no problem. But I'd been in the habit of connecting my M-Dex to my laptop via a 3.5 mm cable and thus could stream sound while watching movies or videos. I was appalled to discover that when trying to do that with the Uni-Dex, I could get the sound alright, but it turned out to be about a second behind the video. Who wants to watch a movie where the words coming out of actors' mouths don't coincide with their lip movements?

So... a friend gave me an old iPhone 5 and I returned the Com-Dex and the Uni-Dex. The iPhone 5 was okay, but too small, I thought, so I wanted a bigger phone. Then I read on the Widex website that several models of Samsung phones would also work with the Beyond App. So I bought a Samsung S7. Loved the phone. It only took a few days to discover that while I could control my hearing aids with it, I could not stream either phone calls or sound from my computer to my hearing aids with it. It took a very long time to find somewhere buried deep in the Widex website in very small print a statement that said you could not stream with android phones. Grrrr!

So I was able to return the Samsung phone (which was another nightmare...). I then got an iPhone 6s. Yes, I can stream phone calls and also music from my computer. But as I had already learned early on, I absolutely couldn't watch videos on my laptop unless I also bought a Com-Dex and a Uni-Dex and even then the sound of movies would not be in sync with the video, So here's what I'm forced to do: I use the Beyond 440's with the iPhone 6S most of the time. But if I want to watch something on my computer, I have to get out my old hearing aids and my barely functioning M-dex and watch the videos that way. I don't know what I'll do when either the hearing aids or the M-Dex stop working.

One of the reasons I moved up to the Beyond 440's was that they have all these wonderful programs! Right. Yes, I can hear a difference when I switch from one setting to another, but it isn't pronounced. The equalizer works, after a fashion, but you can only adjust bass, mid-range, and treble volumes. And if you are at one setting and have everything set up the way you want it, then switch to another setting, all your fine tuning goes away. Frustrating!

And my biggest complaint: I can't hear what a people are saying unless we're in a quiet environment. I can go to Denny's for breakfast with one other person and I have to have him repeat things 3 times. Sometimes I just give up and don't even tell him I can't hear him. And I only have a moderate hearing loss. So there you go: streaming woes, android phone woes, and just plain hearing woes. I don't get a warm, fuzzy feeling when someone asks me how I like my Widex hearing aids.

For the price I paid for these hearing aids you would think they would not be as faulty as they are. I take very good care of them considering the price I paid so I don't contribute this issue due to misuse or handling. I own two Widex Unique 440-312 RIC hearing aids that I have had for about 21 months. Over the course of this time the receiver, which is the wire component, one end of which actually goes into my ear canal and has the speaker attached and the other end plugs into the unit behind my ear has failed nine times. It is the sixth time for the Right receiver, which seems to be failing at a rate of 2 times that of the left. I have also began noticing some diminished ability with the right side aid, but the instrument is still working.

When I first received my hearing aids I was told that I would have to regularly replace wax guards and batteries, but not receiver replacement. These failures are not my fault. I have done all I was advised to do from the audiologist and the Hearing Planet, the online dealer who sold me the units. I believe there is some sort of systemic design failure with the receivers. Or it may for some reason be restricted to the pair I have. Both are issues for Widex. The hearing aids were very costly, and the thought of the expense of regularly replacing the receivers, which are also very expensive, once the warranty is expired is unconscionable.

Other friends who also have hearing aids of other brands do not report these problems. I have to say that these regular failures are discouraging and I now believe I probably did not make the best choice in brands. I know Hearing Planet is just the retailer, so I don’t hold the company responsible for design issues. Until recently, they have offered excellent customer service. The hearing aids are still under warranty, but although I have communicated with Widex and Hearing Planet via email my recent inquiries, which were made about a week ago, have gone unanswered. So even warranty issues are being ignored. I am hoping you can help with this issue.

I was born with mild hearing loss which progressed to mild/moderate in college. I purchased Widex partially in the ear aids with a flexible spending account through insurance (not covered) and while the audio was great, I wished I had gotten BTEs because my ears felt blocked and itched. However my audiologist mentioned this is typical for this type of in-ear aid and we confirmed it with test demo units from other brands. My aids lasted for 12 years with several in warranty repairs, and two out of warranty repairs for $250 each. Considering how long they lasted before the innards completely died I am very satisfied. I had the lowest end model for around $1500 each because of my financial situation. Unfortunately, I was not able to afford new ones for a few years and really missed them as my hearing loss progressed to moderate.

This year I discovered that my insurance covers the purchase of aids every three years as long as I meet my deductible, so I purchased some BTE models (not sure of the model name) and my insurance paid $7500 while I paid $125. The sound quality is just what I expected and has definitely improved since 15 years ago. I have found that my aids pick up sound from my iPhone better when it is on speaker mode than from the receiver but I did not purchase the Com-dex yet. I recently had to replace the receivers for both aids and drove my husband nuts with asking for repeats and misunderstood words while I waited for an appointment with my audiologist.

I have really struggled without them because my hearing loss is moderate to severe now and I had to change from phone technical support (work) to chat technical support (work) career because amplified headphones just did not do enough amplifying with the old aids. Now with the BTEs I think I could go back to phone work because they work flawlessly with typical over the ear headphones. Also my ears don't feel plugged and they itch much less with the small earpiece style of the BTEs.

That was not clear.

So I have spent hundreds of dollars at the Dispenser adjusting with very little improvement although he tries hard each time to fix the problem. He got the ones that go behind the ear from Widex because they didn’t show and were the higher tech with the pendant and features for Bluetooth and the weather. He’s an engineer so he liked all the little bells and whistles. They are his first ones and he says they’re good. They were very expensive but he might as well get the ones that would work and now he can hear better. One doesn’t have to ask and repeat things so many times to him. It’s easier on me and he can also get more out of conversations and the television.

My husband has some problems with his hands due to nerve damage and the hearing aids are a little bit tiny so they're hard for him to put in. He also doesn’t like that they get clogged up with ear wax easily and the batteries go out so fast. We called customer service a couple of times and they dealt with whatever the issues were right away and we talked to a gentleman who was really helpful. The whole experience has been fine, professional, and pleasant.

Behind-the-ear hearing aids were recommended and are easy to handle for me so I got them from Widex and they are much better than the ones I used before. I like that I can increase and decrease the sound and that I can adjust the sound in a restaurant. The price is a little steep but it works very well.

I went with the behind-the-ear device because it’s easy and I don’t like the big thing in the ear. I like the little remote that I can carry in my purse and I can adjust it in noisy places. I also like the feature of being able to change stations on it. The quality is excellent and I like my Widex hearing aids better than my old brand but I’m ready to have them tuned up. They’re not doing very well right now because of the progression of my hearing. Also, they’re all over-priced.

When I had a surgery in the '80s and '70s I was told that a hearing aid would never help. I wish I could hear better but my surgery is different than most people’s hearing problems because I had a bone missing. It’s called a stapedectomy. So I just tried Widex and it does help some. A lot of people told me to get it while others said they’d rather go to Costco. All hearing aids are too expensive and we picked the middle of the line. I have other friends who have this line and they like it too.

I have a brown piece over the ear and a rubber tip in the ear and because of my inner ear it was really hard for me to learn how to put it in but once I did it was very simple. I’m very happy with my device and I like to put it on during parties a lot to make things clearer. I've had more quality and my kids are very happy that I did this so I don’t have to pretend, answer wrong and get in trouble. When you hear better you don’t act quite so ignorant. I was going to call them because the little white case that they sent me to clean the wax out, which I have a lot of problem with, when the envelope came it was ripped and I think one or so of those fell out. I was going to ask for more but I really appreciate that they send those to me. I think that’s great.

They adjusted the sound for a louder environment and when I came out, the hearing aid worked just fine and it also made my wife happy. Kelly, the office manager, went out of her way to be helpful, and they also gave me batteries with it for two years. I’m 85 years old and I don’t treat things hard but the quality is satisfactory. Widex was recommended to me by Scripps Clinic and the two different Widex reps I've worked with have been very good. If I was paying out of pocket I would be looking for one that was not quite as expensive but the majority cost of both my hearing aids were covered by insurance. I got the the behind-the-ear device because it was fairly compact and not very noticeable. I like the ability to have the different programs and the hearing aids have helped me hear my spouse and talk to friends much better in like a restaurant. The only disadvantage is I don't hear music as well. If I have a radio on I know I’m not getting a lot of that sound. But overall Widex appears to be a very quality-oriented company.

Widex is the only place that does the testing and fitting right in our town. They were the closest provider so I went to them. When I bought the in-the-ear hearing aid I was assured that I could bring it back in within a number of days and they'll return my money. I tried the hearing aid just before that time was up. I didn’t enjoy the experience and I wanted my money back and they wouldn’t do it even if they had promised they would. They said I’d had it a long time but I hadn’t had it as long as they had said that I could keep it and then bring it back. Otherwise I would’ve brought it sooner. So I just used the hearing aid up to the end of that period and then didn’t use it again. There was nothing about the experience I liked after they wouldn’t give me my money back. They seemed pretty professional up to that point. I’m very disappointed with the company and the people I dealt with.

I have been fitted with the Passion 440 mini RIC hearing aids after another brand of iPhone compatible HAs failed. These HAs never seemed to help like the other set. I could not tell I had them in and always turned up the volume two clicks when I put them in. The RC Dex was clunky and annoying and easy to lose and had so few functions. I ordered and got a Com-Dex hoping to get some iPhone compatibility back but I am not impressed. It does not work as well as iPhone compatible HAs. It loses connection and has to be reset. It is difficult to determine what will go through my HAs and what will not. Many of the things that streamed with the previous HAs does not with the Widex HA and COm-Dex.

Now that I am able to stream audio it is very apparent my left HA is malfunctioning. The audio comes and goes and is very garbled. I am not sure if reprogramming could help but I definitely could not recommend these HAs. I am waiting for my appointment to see if they can be repaired and the programming redone. I will probably resort to my old HAs until then. My Widex experience has been very unsatisfactory.

I had Oticon and Starkey hearing aids before, and now, I have the Widex, but I don’t like it because of its interface with my cellphone. I got the Starkey and the Widex because I have an iPhone and I love being able to do the settings with the phone. But since the Widex doesn’t pair with my phone, I had to send it back. The last time it happened, the right hearing aid was paired but not the left one. So, every time this happens, I have to go into my phone settings, then to general, to accessibility, then to hearing aids and try to get the hearing aids paired. This is unlike the Starkey which stayed automatically paired.

Also, Widex has only three plus a loop settings while Starkey has about 10 different settings that I could choose from. Another reason I got the Widex is its sound quality, which is way better, as mentioned by Kelly, my hearing aid professional. But I couldn't compare it with other hearing aids because Widex is not pairing with my phone. I haven’t had a satisfactory experience with Widex and I wouldn’t recommend them.

Hi Martha, thank you for sharing your experience and we're sorry to hear of your frustration with pairing. Oftentimes, this can be simply resolved through a few methods to repair or update the app. Would it be ok if our customer service team reached out to you to help troubleshoot?

Also, both Unique and Beyond have a “Sound Class” analysis system that assesses the environment and categorizes in one of 9 categories at the 440 level; fewer at 30 etc. One of these classes is Party and another is Party with Speech. Some changes can be made to the Party sound class within the general Universal in fine tuning. Additionally, you can choose to make Party its own program. This allows for more fine tuning options.

I’ve been pretty happy with Widex Hearing Aids. The person I saw at A1 Hearing recommended the brand. I got a behind-the-ear model and I haven’t had them for that long, but it seems to be a good quality product. I like that I can change the volume of the hearing aids. I also have an app on my phone that I can play around with. There were times, though, that I lose contact with the app and I had to go in and restart the whole process. There seemed to be bugs in the app that affect how it interacts with the hearing aids. The hearing aids are also comfortable except for a little fussing around with things sometimes. But you’d get used to it and the longer you have the Widex Hearing Aids, the easier they would be to use.

The Widex Hearing Aids were very expensive though. They charged me $7,500 with the ones I have and I was surprised that my insurance covered most of it. I have paid, and then, the rep put the claim in to the insurance company and suddenly, I got a bunch of money back which was amazing. However, if you don’t have insurance, it’s hard to get this hearing aid. Luckily, I could afford to pay that, even if the insurance had not helped me. Fixing hearing problems is very important because there’s a connection between not getting hearing aids and developing dementia and Alzheimer’s more frequently. Widex should try to make their hearing aids more affordable.

But Widex is good and I like their variation. It has more options. I use the remote control and I like that too. But I'm very dissatisfied with the party station. It just doesn't work. I can sit in a restaurant and try to talk to my friend across the table and all I can hear is background noise. It just does not take any of the surrounding noise into consideration. We tried and tried to amend it and it's just awful. I see Kelly about every three months to have them cleaned. She tries different things and it's just not acceptable. I really don't want to go out to lunch anymore because I can't understand what they're saying across the table. I'm not satisfied. I would certainly recommend my friends that they go for the trial.

I am mainly confined to the house and without my hearing aids, I could not hear the television, the news, or anything that connects me to the world so I’m very grateful for them.

The one problem I have is the left ear. I can only hear the TV when I also turn on the volume and over the right one, I don’t need any volume. As a matter of fact, the volume of the TV interferes with it. My left ear used to be my better ear and now it’s deteriorating and I wish I could find something better. I have called Kelly who sold me the hearing aids and I tried to make an appointment with her but she’s away right now. I would recommend them to a friend but as I say, some people want to have two ears.

I recently upgraded from my Widex Clear hearing aids. I purchased a set of Widex Beyond 440 hearing aids. At that time I also acquired a Call-Dex unit and a Remote Call-Dex unit to help my hearing in restaurant conditions. Syncing the units was very straight forward using the Widex online youtube video. I expected that with the Remote streaming green and the Call-Dex connected around my neck that I would be able to hear across the table and enjoy a normal back-and-forth conversation. That has not been my experience.

The ‘How to Use’ instructions and TroubleShooting help available for using these units is spare and cryptic to the point of being meaningless. The Widex attitude seems to be, make an appointment with your audiologist and let them figure it out. Sometimes they can’t either. Specifically when the voice streams from the Remote to my hearing aids through the Call-Dex neck unit, it is audible as I would expect. However when I speak back, my voice echoes like Lou Gehrig’s farewell address at Yankee Stadium. If I push the room-off button on the Call-Dex, my voice then disappears completely, although I can still hear the voice from the Remote.

Obviously something isn’t working properly, It really shouldn’t be that complicated to figure out or use. I have over the years invested in several Widex accessories. A Phone-Dex unit sits on my desk, a Uni-Dex plugs into my computer or iPod, I have TV-Dex for each television in my house. They all work as I would expect... and I guess I expected the Call-Dex and Call-Dex Remote to do the same. They don’t... and that is disappointing... especially since I was informed that I needed to upgrade to the Beyond units to use this latest technology that included Call-Dex...and that is a prime reason for going from the perfectly adequate Clear units to the not inexpensive Beyond 440 hearing aids.

This is my second Widex hearing aids and it's the behind the ear style that has a little chord that plugs into the ear. I love the audio. Especially if one of the hearing aids comes loose and it's ready to fall off of my ear. It keeps telling me what to do. I also like the fact that they're so light.

But the cap that goes in the ear was too big and I could only wear it for two hours at a time. It was getting very uncomfortable so I've changed the cap size and it's better now. Also, the battery cage keeps falling out and it's not strong. I had an opportunity to send it back for repair but it was still not strong enough when it came back. And the battery is only good for a week, which is short. It'd be fabulous if there was some way to get a battery that could last for 10 days to a month.

Hi there, just wanted to warn readers about Widex's price gouging of customers, with reference to the cost of hearing aid repairs. I have an 8 year-old Widex Mind hearing aid, and the plastic hook atop the hearing aid cracked and broke. At first, my audiologist was prepared to replace the broken hook with a new hook in the office, but they said they ran out of replacement hooks. They said they would call Widex to order more hooks, and when they came in, would replace the hook. In years past, my audiologist was able to do this no problem. Today, my audiologist said the repair would cost $50.

But, lo and behold... When my audiologist called Widex, their rep told my audiologist they could not order new hooks, and the hearing aid would have to be shipped to them for a repair. My audiologist said this would cost $365 - and I was shocked. I'm sorry but to replace a simple plastic hook which doesn't require taking apart the hearing aid itself... That is an outrageous, unacceptable fee. This pretty much is the epitome of "price gouging".

When I called Widex's customer service phone number, they were of no help. They said they would not accept a direct shipment of the hearing aid for the repair from me, which I fully understand. But they also would not reduce the cost of the hook repair, nor would they even tell me what a fair price of such a repair would be - so I would understand whether my audiologist is responsible for upcharging me as well...

Best bet is to stay away from Widex. I've worn Oticon (current, right ear) and Phonak (past) hearing aids. In my view, Oticon is superior and Phonak is on par with Widex as far as aid quality. Considering the maintenance support... Oticon and Phonak by far beat out Widex. But it's shameful what's going on overall with hearing aid purchase and maintenance costs. They are spiraling out of control. The hearing aid manufacturers seem to be on par with pharmaceutical companies - it used to not be this way.

Additionally... I would advise everyone to hold off on purchasing a hearing aid if you have mild-to-moderate hearing loss at present time; there's a good chance prices will drop if the 2017 OTC Hearing Aid Act passes over the next month or so. I suppose my only satisfaction is that I have now ruled out Widex as a potential new hearing aid candidate, when I go to purchase a new one this fall. Good luck everyone.

This probably would have been a perfect product if somebody had a problem with their ear drum and their outer ear. However, it may not be the perfect product for me. I suffer from sudden loss of hearing so it's related to my inner ear. I lost my hearing in a matter of 10 minutes and it never came back to full. That might be part of the reason why the hearing aid is not that effective for me.

The quality is good but my hearing performance is dropped down to 60 dB below normal and it's very broadband. The Widex hearing aids are a bunch of small filters that amplify and are very narrow-band. It's either the high or low pitch tones that are amplified so when they're used, there's very smooth amplification across the board. I don't find the hearing aids to be broadband enough to make up for the loss of my hearing. Sometimes it becomes annoying because I use it when I'm desperate to understand what people are saying. Nobody has given me an answer on whether it is actually made to compensate for my kind of disease. I have also talked to my surgeon and he said nobody knows how to deal with this condition. Plus, I do not see the response of the hearing aids and I have not been able to convince them to show me there is actual response of the device. What they've said is that the doctor will fix it for me and then I just put it on.

However, at the beginning, the Widex hearing aids helped me a lot more because I was supposed to be deaf for one year. Now, my condition is better although that might just be my brain compensating for it. I try to use the hearing aid as minimum as possible. it's not like glasses that I have to use every day and I have the other ear to carry me through even though that one is also fledging. But when I go to places where there are a lot of people around me, I definitely make sure that I wear it because without it, I would stay out of conversation altogether. It's also been helping me a lot in a noisy environment especially for watching TV. It's a good product and my experience has been definitely positive.

I obtained a Com-Dex in hopes of using it at work to listen to office phone calls, online tutorials and streaming, but it only works for smartphones despite the Note in the User Instructions that says you can use it "to stream sound from any Bluetooth-enabled sound source to your hearing aids." At least, it would not work with my work computer after installing Harmony Bluetooth software and dongle to the computer.

Also, since my car has Bluetooth I don't need the Com-Dex for phone calls while in the car. But the only way I could find to turn the Com-Dex off when a call came in was to unplug the neck cord connection. And guess what? When I got out of the car I eventually realized that with the loop disconnected it had fallen from around my neck and I had lost it. I am pretty sure it fell into the street, and I backtracked but never saw it again. A sheer waste of about $250 and very disappointing.

I might be willing to try the M-Dex instead for streaming at work, but the audio plug-in wire looks awfully short for reaching the computer. Can a longer one be substituted? And how can I tell if it will work with a particular computer setup? I did not find specs on your website; apparently this is the domain of hearing aid professionals only. The hearing aids themselves (Unique) do an excellent job, especially with music, but occasionally it seems they dampen the sound level abruptly and it sounds as if the battery died when it didn't, or as if I just dove underwater. I also echo other reviewers about the short 1-1.5 week battery life.

Hi Shelley, thank you for sharing your issue and we aim to help resolve it for you.

When using the Com-Dex with a mobile device, unpairing your Com-Dex and or, opening the neck loop, are the only two ways to ensure that your calls will not be directed to your Com-Dex. Opening the neck loop is a more convenient method than unpairing, and we recommend when doing so, that you place the Com-Dex somewhere safe.

Also, the Com-Dex can be used with a Windows computer using either the Plantronics BT300 or the Plantronics BT600 adapters. If you would prefer to use a wired connection as opposed to Bluetooth, we recommend the Uni-Dex, which is a neck loop device that connects to any device with a 3.5mm jack output. The Uni-Dex also has a built-in microphone for hands-free communication.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance with these steps to gain full functionality.

I have a couple of Widex aids - models # U3FSBE & 8 932 0101 021. Fairly new with hearing aids, just got these last September, 2016. I have significant hearing loss since I was a toddler and I was mainstreamed while growing up. Never had hearing aids before so this was new and exciting. At first I was overjoyed, I was able to hear sounds I had never heard before. It was fascinating, like a new world opened up and so many new things to learn!

For the first 9 months didn't have any major issues. Was able to get them dialed in and I was happy with them - for a while. Now that warmer days are upon us I am finding many shortcomings, specifically what seems to be the sensitivity to heat. I am unable to spend more than 5 min outside on a warm day with the aids quitting. I am an active individual and have discovered that the aids are not a good fit for active lifestyles. I find I cannot ride bikes, go golfing, go hiking, etc. with the aids - they quit very soon after getting outside. I don't need to do anything strenuous, just let the sun beat down on me.

I am very active with water sports, so those activities are out of the question. Been to the beach a few times since, I won't take them onto the beach as I'm afraid of sand causing more issues. I enjoy snow skiing but I'm afraid to wear the aids on the slopes. They will fall out during a hard fall. The hearing aids work great, when they work. To ensure they continue to work it seems that a sedentary lifestyle in a cool environment is a requirement. If you're active and like to play outside, it becomes a major problem.

Hi Rick, thank you for your response. Heat and moisture can pose an ongoing challenge to hearing aid users, particularly where the fitting –as in your case- involves receiver placement in the ear. This placement can make it more susceptible to perspiration. It may be beneficial to use a drying storage container nightly if you are not using one already. Usage can help reduce hearing aid repairs and maintain performance of your devices. Widex offers the DryGoUV unit to help prevent such issues and we can gladly send one to your hearing clinic at no cost to help reduce your issues with moisture. Please provide the clinic name for us to send that to and we will do so promptly.

The new Widex Beyond model hearing aids were widely hyped as being top of the line for iPhone hearing aids. I found them comfortable, with fine sound quality and battery life of about a week. That though is where the cheering stopped. The two stars is the result of no stars for connectivity and reliability of both iPhone connectivity and connectivity even between the headsets. Simply bad!

Tried two units and the second was worst than the first. Imagine having dinner in a restaurant and having to remove both aids, opening the battery door and then going to your iPhone, and having to tell it to forget device and then repair. Then imagine doing it 5 more times during the meal. Then have one ear telling you it can't find other aid but it's the one that is not connected. Then being told you can't use it with wifi assisted calling. Then have it automatically switch modes. Imagine all these problems while the right ear rarely stays connected to Bluetooth more than a minute.

AND BEAR IN MIND THAT THIS IS HOW THE SECOND PAIR PERFORMED while you work with the audiologist for 3 weeks to get a solution. AND you give up after providing documentation of the failures. And the clinic wants you to pay $300 fee for their time in running through 3 weeks of nonstop failures and troubleshooting. Stunningly bad performance all around.

My left ear is not that bad but I can’t hear out of my right ear that good and my wife made me decide to get a hearing aid. I used what my doctor prescribed for me. We talked about getting the one behind my ear, but I didn’t want it at that time. So, it was my choice not to get the one behind the ear. I got the in-the-ear Widex hearing aid. It fits inside my ear and it's what I could afford to keep. After I got the hearing aids in, it’s like night and day. The only problem is when I’m in a bowling alley, I can’t hear what people are actually saying because there's like little cricket sounds in it. Also, the batteries in them don’t last long but the price was all right and at least I can hear. It’s a lot better than nothing. I’m not used to having hearing aids in my ear, but after I wore it for a few times, it was all right.

I purchased these hearing aids because after hearing it for many years, I wanted to try the new technology -- especially Bluetooth enabled. Well the sound on these hearing aids pretty good compared to my old hearing aids, I have had a lot of problems with the Bluetooth. The hearing aids lose connection to the Bluetooth constantly so I'm always having to fiddle with them to reestablish the connection.

The iWatch app but it's supposed to be compatible doesn't work well -- it off and states of the hearing aids are not connected when in fact they are. You can't use Bluetooth and up with your car phone because the car Bluetooth and the hearing aid Bluetooth are incompatible. The manufacturer says that an update will come in a couple of weeks at which point the connectivity issues might be fixed. However for $6600 I expect them to work as designed 90% of the time not 60%. Basically while these hearing Aids are good for sound, they've also been a disappointment in many areas.

I had another hearing aid but I used to take them in constantly to have them repaired. My doctor suggested Widex and I like it much better. I’ve had them for over a year and I haven't taken them in once. I have the in the ear model as I never wanted it behind the ear. I’d had a loaner pair where they were around the ear and one of them fell off and I couldn’t find that for a month.

I like that the clarity of my hearing aids is very good especially in the different types of modes I can put it in. The only problem I’ve had with it is that the device that I use to filter through my telephone sucks. It makes the people sound tinny and I got to listen harder. It’s also got too many pieces to have in my hand and pocket to operate it. The other device on the other system was far better than this one. Also, my insurance company was paying for it, but I’m no longer working and now I’m am going to be concerned about the price. I don’t have $7,000 to pay for a hearing aid. Nonetheless, my Widex hearing aids have been Godsend. It’s been a fantastic help to me and I like it tremendously. I am able to better maneuver my hearing and I am more attentive.

I had a real old hearing aid. The volumes in it could not be adjusted and my hearing was decreasing. So I had to go with something else and I decided to try one from Widex Hearing Aids. When I first got it, I always had to get it re-adjusted. Then there were little switches in the back that I could turn if I wanted to hear stuff in the back of my ear or listen to music. Also, I like its size and the fit and the feel of it more so where I could barely see it as opposed to the older model hearing aid. For me, that was a plus because I hate looking and seeing this thing in my ear. But it is what it is.

I was satisfied with the hearing aid when I got it until it had the little issues. I have it for a little over a year and it does not work anymore. I've had it repaired several times and it was the little transmitter that stopped working. I didn't get it repaired anymore because when I called the office to speak to somebody, it was a recording on and I never got a call back. Then, I got kind of busy. But I have an old hearing aid that I put back in my ear. It's helping though it's not the best. The expense of these hearing aids are crazy and the insurance at least helps now. But for me it's not enough. And at this point, I'm not sure if my Widex hearing aid is out of warranty or not.

I was using Oticon and when I got rid of those hearing aids and went to the local audiologist, they said that Widex is the strongest and the best quality to have nowadays. So, I went with his recommendation and got them. They are strong but the sound quality is very messed up and terrible. I get a lot of feedback. It's not adjusted properly. I was sitting on one part of the couch and my husband was on the other part. And when he was talking, his voice was creating so much feedback due to the hearing aids. I felt like it's almost useless.

The wire over the hearing aid is causing some issues as well. My hair is pretty long and the wire keeps getting caught in them. Also, the speaker's in the mold that goes inside my ear and I feel like it's almost too big. It's like a Chicklet caught in my ear. It's very uncomfortable, but it’s okay. It's also bulky outside of my ear. It sticks out of my ear and it's very uncomfortable as well. It's different than the hearing aids I had before and it's not a good fit for me. Also, since the hearing aids are so strong, the batteries don't last that long. I have to change them weekly. They never told me that. Unlike the hearing aid I had before, I could tweak three weeks out of it with one battery. But with Widex, I could tell that my batteries are gonna die soon when I hear, "Beep, beep, beep." It's so annoying and I hate it.

Oticon, on the other hand, was a good fit and because I had that for ten years, I got used to it. My brain was somewhat trained to match that brand and style. Its battery quality lasted longer, too. It was a tube that went around my ear and not a wire so it didn't rip my hair out. Then, the mold inside my ear was flat against my ear. It didn't stick out and protrude. But, in terms of the sound quality, Widex is better.

However, I've had the Widex hearing aids for two years and they already broke two times. One day, they just stopped working and it went silent. It didn't start a beep and didn't inform me the sound level is changing. And so, I changed the battery to make sure it wasn't the problem and put it back in, nothing happened. Finally, when I had time to take them back to the audiologist, I found out that the wire was disconnected. I replaced the wire on it and everything was back to normal for five months. Then, my right ear had the same problem. I was wearing it, it worked fine, and I had a good battery. It didn't make any beeps and so I assumed that it was the other wire issue. All in all, I'm disappointed with Widex.

I wear them all the time, and fully appreciate and enjoy the sounds and conversations that I had been missing; they really make me happy. The only time I remove them during the day is when using hearing protection for lawn mowing and workshop tool use. But I had one fail about a year ago, when the 'speaker' quit working. The audiologist fixed it, and it was fine. But it just failed again yesterday, and their shop is closed today. Not sure if I can bring it to another without having to pay, but will check. He gets feedback when he's in the car and that didn’t happen previously. What’s good is that he can still open and change his own battery which is very simplistic, it’s made in a way that it's good for an elderly but when it comes to the cleaning part that is where I have to step in. As far as the tools itself he doesn't have the dexterity to put the tool in, pull it out and then insert it and make a little twist. I took it to my professional and she contacted Widex. They said they're not making that size anymore. She gets to upgrade to the newest technology and we'll have it repaired for free. I like the in-ear hearing aid model better than the behind-the-ear because if I wear glasses, the behind-the-ear does not work very well. I like the clarity and amplification of my in-ear hearing aid. But I also like the idea of being able to take it out, myself, as opposed to having to go to my doctor when the batteries go bad. But other than that, I love it. But I wish they made one with the power of the one that I have now that's larger in the ear. But if it were smaller that would be really sweet.

Widex is great and durable. But the price is high enough and it doesn't need to be any more expensive. As a matter of fact I have one and not two, and the doctor who placed it was awesome. Because I couldn't afford two at that time, she did where the one hearing aid could function like two, and it's working well, so we just work with the one. My Widex hearing aids is the Behind-The-Ear style and because my hearing wasn't so severe, I have a piece that gets fitted in the ear. The audiologist asked for something specific and Widex made me this big huge thing that covers the whole inside of my ear which I would never wear. The piece that I got from them just wouldn't stay in and it never seemed to work right. I kept getting too much feedback with it and it got to a point where I couldn't hear anything. The only other option was to have Starkey make the insert for the ear. They made a small one that went in the canal and so far, it seems to be working. I've had Starkey hearing aid for years and this is my first pair of Widex. The fitting of the ear thing itself and the piece that goes around the back was a lot better in Starkey. But as far as the clarity goes, Widex is better for me. I would recommend them.

I have worn Widex Hearing Aids for maybe twelve years now. I loved my previous two sets. However, this set has not been as good. Not sure why. We have returned them several times for adjustments, replacement, and whatever else. At times I feel like these hearing aids are awesome (I had them on the music setting when I was at Fenway Park watching James Taylor in concert - TREMENDOUS!!!). But other times - like when I am in my classroom, or in the kitchen, I have a hard time hearing the person speaking with me. There may be background noise, there may not be.

The telephone program is also fickle. Sometimes I have no issues, other times I can't understand the person at the other end of the phone. All in all, I am not too excited about these hearing aids. I have gone back to my audiologist several times. Since the new audiologist arrived and the person I was working with for the last 15-20 years retired, it hasn't been the same. I hope this helps.

A friend gave me her Widex hearing aids as a gift. She no longer used them and her hearing had gotten worse so she had to go to another level. Then I went to a hearing professional and she explained everything to me. She was very professional in showing me how to use them, what I needed and gave me a printout of everything. I got the one that's placed behind the ear and the other part goes inside. I'm still getting used to them and I don't keep them in all the time. But when I use them when I go out, it helps quite a bit. I'm not saying, "huh" or "I beg your pardon" as much. I would recommend them to anyone that needs hearing aids.

As a hearing aid wearer for nearly 48 years I am experienced with them. Whereas Widex has some strong, powerful hearing aids they tend to breakdown more frequently. Which leads to the second largest issue I have with them - their customer service is less than desirable. Widex is not timely in responses nor are they flexible in working with audiologist or patients. My audiologist in California struggled to work with Widex to help customize my earmolds. Widex only offered (at the time) very hard plastic earmolds which caused me ear aches. When approached to make flexible softer molds, Widex refused. This refusal then made my $15,000 pair of aids non-usable.

After months of back and forth Widex finally made the earmolds. Now the receiver inside the earmold is broken and they are charging me $250 in repairs per earmold to replace the receiver. I replaced one in October 2016 and it broke again by March 2017. Then the other ear's receiver broke and it also needed to be replaced - costing another $250. When I work Oticon aids I rarely had issues with them in the 25 plus years that I wore the brand. My audiologist in California severed her relationship with Widex due to poor customer service and now that I have moved to Oregon I could only find ONE person willing to work with Widex due to a poor customer service reputation. Widex appears not to really care about its consumers and their individualized needs.

For over 8 years I had used a Starkey Hearing aid in my Right ear and managed my life comfortably despite the fact I have Tinnitus in my Right ear. Recent review by audiologist suggested that my right ear was pretty bad and the left was also not as good and was fitted with a pair of Widex Hearing aids. I was all excited about being able to hear a lot better.

The hearing aids were fitted in Dec 2015 and sounded great in the Clinic. Walked out of the Clinic and by the time I got to the road crossing at traffic lights my head was spinning and I was losing balance. I suspected it might be the new hearing aids and turned them off and felt better. Walked to my parked car and turned the hearing aids on and could not bear the noise of just the air conditioning in the car. The last eight months have been a nightmare. I have to turn off the hearing aid to be able to listen to the person next to me in a restaurant. I just have the master and comfort settings and have to remove the hearing aids at the movies, at weddings and funerals to hear speeches, and even to watch TVs. The minute I step outdoors the Sooshing air noise is so high that I cannot even hear cars leave alone speech.

The Only time the hearing aid seems to work is when I am at home and having one on one conversations with my wife. But then I could do that even without hearing aids. I loved listening to music using my Sennheiser Wireless head phones and now that also does not work as it is not HDMI compatible with my TV and Onkyo Amplifier. I have virtually stopped talking on the Phone as it is extremely noisy. At movies I have to switch my hearing aid off. Not happy with a pair of hearing aids that cost me a Packet. Wish some one will tell me what is wrong and how to solve my problem?

While the Widex hearing aids work very well, the Bluetooth interface is far less useful. It seems the unit can only pair with one device at a time, so you must re-pair it every time you move between phone and tablet. The application often will not recognize the unit and gives no options, just a blank unresponsive screen. Turning off the tablet or phone and disconnecting the Bluetooth unit will SOMETIMES remedy the situation, but you must plug the unit into the charger to reboot it, so you must carry the charger plug with you. It is quite frustrating. Seems the designer does not use the product. Very expensive and takes weeks of waiting to get any repairs or replacements.

I have single-side hearing loss and have worn Phonak bi-cros aids for about 5 years. Over that time, I tried using a Blue-Tooth mic and a remote for better volume and easier program adjustments. The only way I could use a telephone was to either hold it to my 'better' ear or to put it on speaker and hold my cell phone speaker next to my ear. My newest iPhone was worthless since the sound was very muffled unless on speaker. My audiologist recommended the newest Widex bi-cros -- with a Blue-Tooth Com-Dex 'remote'. While the aids seem to have more clarity, the remote is so far mostly worthless.

I have used these new aids for only a few days so everything is new. The remote is extremely difficult (and sometimes impossible) to pair with the iPhone. 'Re-boot' and sequential turning off and re-connecting the remote and each of my aids sometimes help -- most often does not. For the couple of calls that I have been able to make with the Blue-Tooth connected (thus phone audio going directly to my hearing aid), I was able to hear much better than ever before. HOWEVER, unless the things work on first connect, they're useless. I will hang on for another visit to my audiologist in a week or two -- but there's a good chance I will be returning these -- until the Widex techs and programmers iron out the glitches. (My dad always told me not to buy the first model year of a new car; he didn't know about hearing aids but maybe that advice applies.)

I have been wearing aids for decades and the quality of sound in Widex is excellent if you get some that work! What good is it to someone hearing impaired to have aids that quit completely every couple months, sent for repair and work for a couple days when returned? My audiologist has had wonderful patience but I'm running out of mine, programming is not the problem. They are defective (to say the least). I asked twice for replacement and they offered to exchange one free or give me a deal of $5500 for a new set, after I have paid for the ones that won't work! That's not a deal!

I took one replacement and it went in for repairs within 3 months along with the other one that worked for 2 days twice after repair and returned again. They can't fix what they sell and won't replace your "lemon" so be aware. It doesn't matter how great the sound is and I agree it is clear when programmed properly, but you may spend half your life waiting for repair, while the silent world passes you by. I'm a senior on fixed income and thousands of dollars every few years just isn't an option.

These are the third pair of Widex hearing aids that I have owned over a period of 8-10 years, until now, all have been satisfactory. With this most recent pair, the provider has done the usual adjustments, set up the "programs" for several channels, etc. After 15 months, and several visits to the provider to address complaints, I have to rate these hearing aids no better than two stars.

The problem is clarity, especially when listening to TV, radio and worst of all, the telephone. Voices sound as though they are coming through a long tunnel and often sound like two or more people speaking at once. If any speaker has a foreign accent, it's pretty hopeless. My world of sound is pretty much a mess. The provider worked with me patiently for a while, was going to return them to the factory for a checkout, but then decided to make one more "re-tune"... after that, it became clear they weren't going to be able to fix the problem(s). Very disappointed with Widex and the provider.

Widex brand sounds not good. It may be ill affected which I believe it is not the product, but its the program for different people for different type of hearing loss. I believe in her case, is just to reduce the background noise that I learned from her explanation. I know there are hundreds of model in the market. And I also know different people had different hearing issues. I strongly belief your company has the program to reduce the background noise. So I am appealing to you for a reprogram for her pair of Widex hearing aid so that she would use it for her own benefit. I hope to hear from you.Thanks.
