I bought a pair of Eargo 6 hearing aids in Dec. 22. I financed them because insurance wouldn't cover them. After about 12 months I started having lots of trouble with them holding a charge. One went completely which they did replace. However, they have become ear plugs. The charge in the remaining original only lasts 2 hours. The replacement about 5. I never got the 16 hours touted. Customer Service SUCKS! I am currently on hold for over an hour with them again. I am always told to do the same hacks which does nothing. I haven't consistently wore them in a year and a half because they just don't work. Stay away, they are expensive for OTC aids and the Customer Service is horrible after you receive them.

I really enjoyed my Eargo 7s and just upgraded to the Eargo 8s! I would recommend Eargo for anyone looking for an invisible, rechargeable hearing aid. Their support is just as fantastic as their hearing aids.

Never buy any Eargo product!!! You've been warned! I bought the Eargo 7's in July of 2024. They worked well for several months and then the multitude of issues started. One hearing aid wouldn't charge, then both wouldn't charge. Then the hearing aids would show fully charged, but would only give me 10 hours. I would put the hearing aids in with 2 lights showing for charge and 8 hours later it would be down to one light. The charger somehow was taking out the charge instead of adding it. I've had 2 sets of hearing aids and 3 chargers. Every single one of them have failed. Eargo will NOT refund your money outside of the trial period. Return them immediately if you see this and are still within the trial period. My AirPod pros work just as well, charge perfectly and cost less than 10% of Eargo. If you don't believe me, look at the BBB site. It says what I am saying.

• No technical assistance.
• No opportunity to exchange for a newer model, even if I pay the difference.
They also claimed the policy had existed for “years,” despite providing me a document dated May 13, and despite another Eargo agent originally telling me the unit had coverage through July 2025. There was no public warning or clear indication on Eargo’s site that support would be denied for products sold on eBay. I am not asking for a warranty claim—Just minimal support for a working device. I find Eargo’s behavior deeply unfair to long-standing customers like me. This experience has shaken my trust in the company, and I hope others will be cautious before investing in their ecosystem. Would I recommend Eargo to a friend or loved one? Not after this.

In the 14th month of Eargo 7’s. Have had both right and left aids replace once due to fact they stopped working or changing. Currently down to one aid that is stuck in my ear canal because the filament line broke off. My charger only works on one side. The kicker is I financed them for 24 months and have 10 months left. The concept is awesome! However, the product sucks.

I purchased a pair of Eargo 6 units in January 2022. From an audiological point of view, they worked 'OK'. Decent noise suppression, clarity was fine, some feedback 'chirps', but it was OK. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there pretty quickly. Configuration and the critical audio calibration of the hearing aids is done through your cell phone. A few months after purchasing the Eargo devices I bought a Google Pixel 6 Pro and found it was extremely unreliable (basically unusable) with the Eargo units. It took over 1 year of pinging Eargo before they got around to addressing this issue with a flagship Android phone. (They initially claimed that their tech team hadn't been able to purchase a Pixel 6 to test on yet...)
The real killer though is the battery life. It is criminally poor for a something advertised with "16+ hour lifetime". They did start out fine with solid 12+ hour performance between charging, but within *12 months* (December 2022) they were down to 3--4 hours of average charge before they shut off. Not great when in a meeting. After getting a bit of a run around with support testing this and that, they replaced the whole kit. Great -- I figured I got a bum pair or bad charger...
Nope, the new pair were back down to 3--4 hours per charge by October 2024. I contacted Eargo support again and after a similar run-around, they said they would be happy to replace the pair for $800 (and noted that the new pair would only be warranted for 1 year). So, unless you only want to use your $3000 hearing aids for 3--4 hours per day, plan to replace them every 1--2 years. I will *not* be buying from Eargo again and would advise others against it as well.

I purchased the Eargo SE from Amazon June 2024. I was amazed at how easily I could setup these units for my specific hearing loss. With control from my iPhone, I was in heaven. In December of ‘24 I noticed an issue with the left unit. After a couple phone calls and email follow up, the tech super team determined the unit was failing. Without question, they sent a replacement unit with b return shipping for the old one. I’ve recommended this product to both my brothers who also suffer from hereditary hearing loss. They both rave about hire much more they can now hear. Well worth the money and highly recommended by me!!
Thank you for sharing your Eargo experience. We're so happy that your are enjoying your hearing aids and we certainly appreciate the high praise and recommendation!

I have my Eargo 7's for less than one year. I am totally frustrated with them. I have both the left and right units fail. The company replaced the right unit, with a unit that worked, but I had to wait over a month to receive the new unit, and return the non working unit. Approximately a month later the left unit failed (the volume of the unit could not be adjusted, the volume was almost nill.) Before requesting a return I took over the pedal and mic cap and made sure the unit was not clogged with ear wax which might be contributing to the problem. I contacted the company, arranged for a replacement unit.
I received the replacement unit two days ago, did all that was required to wake up the unit and sync it with my phone, and the unit had the same problem as the the one I am returning. It worked exactly like the one I am returning the volume is low, and cannot be altered. I again took the pedal and mic cap off to deep clean the unit. THE REPLACEMENT UNIT WAS ENCRUSTED WITH EAR WAX....I thoroughly cleaned the unit, and it is still not working. I am contacting the company to attempt to resolve the problem today.

After researching many brands my wife decided to get a set of these hearing aids. She has had nothing but problems since day one. She is constantly on the phone with customer service and the problems never get resolved. She gave up on them for a while and is now trying to get them to work again and the batteries will not hold a charge. Whereas all the hype for this product seems great they leave a lot to be desired. I would investigate other products.

I purchased these hearing aids about a year ago and they worked for about two weeks. They actually worked pretty well however one of them stopped working and after several attempts of fixing it, it was never resolved. Then the Bluetooth connection stopped working, and that basically made the earbuds inoperable, they fought me on a brief. They sent me a replacement earbud that have the exact same problem. Basically the volume dropped about 30%. I spent $2500. Literally Nothing. I would tell you to stay away from these people and this company. Don’t waste your money. I understand that you can fall into it just like I did because these are a lot cheaper than the ones they sell you through a Hearing doctor… I can see why that is. I do not recommend this product or this company. Do not buy this product.

Hey there! I wanted to have a little chat with you about something pretty important that I've been consistently talking about in my Eargo product reviews. It's all about how Eargo has had a profound impact on my life and brought about some major improvements. I genuinely believe that connecting with our friends and the world around us is key to our overall well-being, and Eargo has played a huge role in helping me stay involved as an active CEO, even in my 70s. And let me tell you, as I head into retirement, I have full confidence that Eargo will keep on being effective in the new year of 2024.
Now, being a proud USC alumni with MS and PhD degrees, I always keep a close eye on the exciting advancements happening in the fields of science and management at my alma mater. During one of my regular searches, I stumbled upon a fascinating soundbite that I think you'll find interesting and useful. Dr. Janet **, an assistant professor at USC's Keck School of Medicine and a talented otolaryngologist, shared a study conducted at USC. And guess what?
The study showed an incredible 24% decrease in the risk of mortality for people who use hearing aids. That's seriously amazing and really highlights how important these devices are. On a related note, I found it super intriguing that over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids have proven to be just as effective in making a positive impact. It really goes to show how accessible and impactful these devices can be. Oh, and just in case you're interested, I've included the article link below for you to check out: **
Thank you for sharing this and thank you for recommending Eargo!

I am a 72 year-old physician who has worn an Oticon over-the-ear aid for 14 years until I purchased an Eargo 7 close to 8 months ago. Overall, the support was good. The "self-tuning" program was OK but nowhere near a professional adjustment with a full audiogram. As a result, the frequency ranges that are amplified are limited and somewhat coarse. An option for the phone app to selectively amplify a mid-range frequency would be an improvement instead of just treble or base.
When the treble is selected and increased, high pitched sounds turn into a screech. Try listening to a Beethoven piano sonata when anything above middle-C is a screech. This was never a problem with Oticon but then you do get what you pay for. A more recent problem is that at 8 months, the battery life after a full charge has declined from 16 hours to around 12. Since I am awake for at least 16 hours, I now have to decide which 4 hours of the day I choose to be deaf. I suspect this will get worse.
My wife would give these a one-star rating, if that. For me, it is a three. They are easy to wear, virtually invisible and good for wearing during sports (sweat resistant). The phone app is useful for adjusting settings for different circumstances, but one can only selectively amplify for voice up to a point before the high frequency screech takes over. One more thing, the ear tap at the tragus (the little part in front of the ear canal) has never worked. Probably just as well. I think it is less conspicuous to quickly adjust the settings in the app than repeatedly bang on each ear at a restaurant dinner table. I wish I could be more positive. I do think some of these issues can be resolved with software and technical improvements. My plan for now is to stay with these until the battery life gets down to 8-9 hours (which could be soon) then go back to an Oticon or Phonak over the ear. I'll save the Eargo for golf.

Nothing wrong with the Eargo technical quality except that the units just did not fit my ears. Calling Eargo to return them has resulted in days of telephone tag and still waiting for information on how to proceed. I see no reason why Eargo returns could not be as easy as Amazon ones: you call saying you want to return the product; the Eargo rep tells you how, or sends an email with the details and boom, it's done. It's a mystery why any company would want to risk alienating its customers, but that is the result in this case.

Plain and simple, at 73 these things are amazing! After spending an enormous amount of money on some big brand behind the ear aids that I returned but NOT these. What a difference. Immediately changed my hearing world. Very easy to set up, nice package AND rechargeable. THAT seniors saves endless batteries that I was forever putting in my parents hearing aids or buying them at the drug store. Rechargeable is a game changer all on its own. I have been a Eargo customer for approximately 5 years. The original model I owned was called the Hi Fi. I was happy with this model but when it went bad, I upgraded to the new 7 model. The new design was a straight cylinder instead of the original that had a slight curve on the end. The new design does not stay in the ear canal and constantly slides out into the bowl of the ear. Because I went beyond the 45 day period they said I could not return them…even though I had been in constant contact with their professionals to try to figure out what to do. So beware and make sure to test whether the units will stay in your ear. They did admit many customers have been experiencing similar problems. I now have to find another alternative and discard a very expensive set of hearing aids.

My Eargos were great. Worked well, discreet and good customer service. Now after a year the batteries are only lasting a few hours. They are not replaceable. I emailed Eargo 2 times. No response. I guess when there are more serious issues they are no longer willing to address. The batteries are supposed to last approximately 3 years. I obviously made a bad decision purchasing this product. "Let the buyer beware."

The Eargos perform exceptionally well. They are virtually invisible. The customer and technical support are also very good. My issue is that my pull cord has broken, and without the pull cord, you can't get the device out of your ear canal, and there is a risk of damage if you shove the Eargo further into the ear canal. I called Eargo support to replace the pull cord, and they advised me that they could not fix that and that I would have to pay full price for a new device. This alone has turned my 5-star review into a 1-star review. The Eargos are quite expensive but if your pull cord goes out you're on your own isn't a good selling point.

I'm about to pass my 45 day trial period with my Eargo set, first time hearing aid user. I was drawn to the Eargo because of the small size and the inside the ear option vs a bulky behind the ear device. I received the dummy set and was happy with the fit, etc. so went ahead with the purchase. The customer service is/was extraordinary all throughout the process. I followed along with the suggested prompts and reminders, etc. and everything couldn't have gone any smoother. I am really happy with the result - I wear them almost every day with a few exceptions. I mostly notice that I never have to ask people to repeat themselves - TV doesn't have to be turned up so loud and the sounds I hear in nature are fabulous. I also notice a big difference in an office setting where there is a lot of "white noise" in the background. I was missing more than I realized.
One of the best parts of the Eargo product is the phone app customization and ease of moving through various settings - a double tap on the ear to reset is very cool. I have the volume set on the lowest setting most of the time but anticipate that as the years go by, that might change. I'm glad to have a device that can change with me. Another great feature is the charger - no separate battery to fool with getting in/out of the unit. I charge it at night as I do my cell phone and I'm done. Cleaning is easy and I intend to follow the simple habit daily as suggested. I highly recommend this product for anyone who is getting signals from their world that they need a little lift hearing conversation - TV, etc. Bottom line - quality of life is better. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing your Eargo experience. The highest praise we can receive is that our hearing aids have improved your quality of life!

I had the Eargo Neo, Hi-Fi, and they were ok, but the hearing aids did not last as long as I would’ve liked with one of the hearing aids breaking after one year and having to be replaced, and then the charger broke which made them worthless since the charger isn’t cheap. Be that as that may be, I love the Eargo Five. The Eargo Five fits entirely in your ear. It is really small. Nobody knows I’m wearing it. The battery seems to last at least 14 hours, it works great. I like that you can control it from the phone instead of having to tap on your ear to change programs.
I think they’re rather expensive, but I think they’re worth it. I recommend not buying used ones because the ones that you get used on eBay have batteries are only going to last eight hours and you can find new ones on eBay or other places cheaper than buying it from Eargo. Nonetheless, I do think that these are really nice hearing aids for people like me who don’t want others knowing we’re wearing hearing aids. Also, you’ll get used to how they feel in your ears after a while.
Thank you for your kind Eargo review! Eargo does not sell hearing aids on eBay. As a result, we don't offer professional support or warranty purchases made there. Also, because the hearing aids were purchased on eBay, we can’t match serial numbers for pairing, app controls, etc.

I purchased these hearing aids about a year ago. I only wear them when I am going to be in crowds or at dinner with friends as these hearing environments were the most difficult for me. In the past year, I have probably worn them about 20-30 times. I find that they do enhance high frequencies, but do nothing to help with enhancing voices in noisy environments. Additionally, they have been problems from day 1. I have had 2 chargers replaced and hearing aids replaced 3 times. The last replacement was a charger and both hearing aids. The last time that I used them, the right one died after about 3 hours. I cleaned them and the charger well and tried using them yesterday. Now the left one was not working. I am done with this company. I believe that replacements are merely items that someone else returned. Their customer service is good but the devices are trash. Save your money and buy any product but this one.

I am very unhappy with the product Eargo. I was not happy with the care or information that I got. They’re very expensive and they only give you 30 days to test them out with not all the information that you need. They didn’t mention that if you have lower tone hair loss, those aren’t the best hearing aids for you. After numerous calls to get the settings adjusted, I find out that this hearing aid would not really work for me. Of course now the allotted time to return them is over. So I called and complained and nothing can be done a waste of $2500. I don’t recommend them to anyone.
