About Titan Invest

Titan Invest markets itself as a modern investment manager. It is a robo-advisor that allows you to take advantage of actively managed investing strategies typically reserved for high-net-worth individuals and institutional investors. The $500 minimum account balance for both retirement and non-retirement accounts makes it a relatively affordable option for new and seasoned investors alike.

Pros
  • $500 minimum requirement
  • Free portfolio analyzer
  • Access to wealth advisors
Cons
  • Limited crypto options
  • Higher fees than some robo-advisors charge

Our editor’s take

Titan Invest is a good choice for those seeking the best of both worlds in wealth management. It combines the efficiency and convenience of a robo-advisor with the personalized touch of human advisors. We like that all users can get involved with real estate and venture capital investing without needing a lot of money to start.

We don’t think this is the best robo-advisor if you want to invest in crypto since it comes with extra fees and Titan’s platform cannot accommodate crypto transfers. Additionally, you will only be able to invest in Bitcoin and Ethereum with Titan.

Titan Invest services

Titan offers a few different services depending on your investment and savings goals. Here are the most popular choices available:

Long-term investing
You can choose a do-it-yourself approach with automated stock and bond ETFs that have no advisory fees or opt for managed investments with Titan’s in-house team.
Smart Treasury
This service automatically moves your money between Cash Reserve and Treasury money market funds on Titan and is optimized based on your personal tax situation. This allows users to earn up to 4.10% at the time of publishing. A 0.40% annual advisory fee applies.
Retirement planning
In addition to managing your current investments, Titan also offers retirement planning services. You pay a flat 0.40% annual advisory fee based on your assets under management (AUM). The fee is charged monthly.
Alternative investments
Investors can choose to invest in alternative options such as real estate, crypto and venture capital. These third-party offerings have low minimums, so the everyday investor can add them to their portfolio.

Titan Invest fees

Titan charges a flat 0.40% annual advisory fee across most managed accounts. Some automated portfolios (like Automated Stocks and Automated Bonds) do not charge an advisory fee.

While Titan doesn’t charge any trading fees, its third-party crypto execution provider, Apex Crypto, charges a spread of up to 0.15% on each transaction.

How to set up an account with Titan Invest

To set up an account with Titan, you will first need to create an account with Apex Clearing Corporation, which is a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). FINRA helps protect American investors from dishonest brokers. You must be at least 18 years old.

You will then need to provide the following information to complete your Titan account:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Date of birth
  • Social Security number
  • Home address
  • Phone number

How does Titan Invest compare?

While Titan Invest isn’t the cheapest of the robo-advisors out there (its minimum investment requirement and management fees are pricier than those from competitors like Betterment and SoFi), it is still affordable for most investors and may appeal to those seeking a more humanized approach to investing.

For example, Betterment has a passive automated style relying strictly on tech, whereas Titan uses an active strategy fueled by humans using the latest technology.

Here are some other ways that Titan Invest stacks up against this particular competitor:

Titan Invest FAQ

What is Titan Invest?

Titan Invest is a robo-advisor that aims to provide a Wall Street-like investment experience to millennials and retail investors. It offers both retirement and non-retirement investing options with a minimum investment of $500.

Does Titan Invest offer socially responsible investing?

Titan Invest does not explicitly mention if it offers socially responsible investing (SRI) on its platform. It does say, “One choice for investing in ESG [environmental, social and governance] is to buy into a fund that has a high ESG rating by a reputable source.”

Is Titan Invest insured by FDIC or SIPC?

Since FDIC protection is only offered to banks, only funds enrolled in Titan’s Cash Sweep program are eligible for this insurance. For other accounts, Titan is a member of SIPC, and your brokerage accounts will be covered up to $500,000.

Is Titan Invest legit?

Titan Invest is a legitimate robo-advisor; however, it was fined $1 million by the SEC in August 2023 for advertising misleading hypothetical performance. While Titan paid the fine and reached an agreement with the SEC, it “neither admits nor denies any wrongdoing.”

I worked with one of their advisors Sofia and she was very helpful with helping me direct a retirement account I had inherited from my late father. Sofia also still stays in touch and checks to see if I need any other help with investing. They really take your thoughts and concerns and build a plan catered to you!

Have been using Titan for years, as my first foray into the market outside of my 401k (which I transferred to Titan a year ago). Great returns and appreciate the insights into the market so I'm not in the dark about how my money is doing.

I recently moved my investments from Chase to Titan. My advisor Jack walked me through the whole thing over several calls. The process was quick and painless. Him and his team are always available to assist when needed. Also the app is great!

I made the mistake of trusting Titan Invest, and it was a huge mistake. They promise high returns, but when it comes time to withdraw, it’s nothing but delays, excuses, and frustration. I’ve tried contacting customer support multiple times, and they either ignore me or provide no real answers. This platform is shady, and I’m almost certain they’re just out to take your money. Save yourself the trouble and avoid them at all costs.

Hey Andy, very sorry to hear your disappointment here. We never promise high returns, though that is one of our objectives. When it comes time to withdraw, we are obligated to follow anti-money laundering (AML) policies that might result in us requiring additional info from you or a slight delay in money movements to mitigate the risk of fraud. We communicate these policies in our withdrawal confirmation emails. Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience these policies may have caused you.

Titan's performance over the past 4 years has been significantly below market. In addition to the lackluster returns, they recently did a complete 180 on their fee structure and began charging a monthly fee. This monthly fee was also imposed right after they paid a fine to the SEC for lying about their returns. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this shady firm. In terms of producing results, they are complete losers unfortunately.

Hi Milo, sorry to hear this. Our Flagship strategy aims to outperform benchmarks over 3-5 year rolling periods. Starting evaluation in '21 (market peak) feels arbitrary, but we faced drawdown after '21 and recovering with strong recent progress, though not fully outperforming S&P 500 since that peak yet. We're optimistic about future progress. Fees weren't SEC-related; we settled the SEC matter without agreeing or denying any of their claims. Sorry you've left dissatisfied, wishing you the best.

3 years and 3 months with them, cashed out 2.5% above initial investment. Could've made 15% approx. in the same amount of time just with a HYSA. 12.5% missed opportunity. Seek other companies for investing. These people don't know what they're doing investment-wise. Data, not opinions.

Hi Javier, appreciate the feedback. It seems you're quoting the performance of a Titan strategy in equities or non-cash asset classes. We don't believe it's a fair comparison to compare these with HYSAs. Those have fundamentally different risk/reward profiles; they're different asset classes with varying objectives, tax implications, and fees. Our Smart Treasury offering is closest to a HYSA; on that basis, I think you'll find that, after tax considerations, we fare quite well.

I invested a significant amount of money in Titan three years ago (early 2021). Since then I have steadily lost more than 25% of my investment in their Opportunities Fund. At the end of November 2023, my loss was over 30%, so December 2023 was a good month. I seriously doubt this money manager can do any better than an index ETF such as SPY (large cap and/or QQQ (tech). They have not published their recent returns on their website so it is difficult to see how they have performed in the last three years. Putting it very plainly, they have not performed positively for the last three years. You can link your account to your checking account and easily move money back and forth.

They do not communicate well with clients (at least they have never answered any of my questions regarding their performance). If you want to invest your funds in a much less expensive manner, open an account at Fidelity or Schwab or any reputable brokerage and buy an index ETF that will give you overall market sector returns. No minimum amount is required and it is very easy to open an account. They also answer their phones 24/7 if you have a question.

Hi John, sorry to hear. Seems you invested in our Opportunities strat in '21 the post-COVID market peaks; our strategies weren't immune and took a hit. During market downturns, we generally advise DCA to take advantage of volatility. Our Opportunities strat outperformed the Russell 2000 inception through July '25, net of fees. No issue with passive approaches though our philosophy of active and passive makes sense for many investors. On communication, we'll investigate. Appreciate the feedback.

Titan investment qualifies as foreign people according to the type of Visa. However they do not know the categories of visas that allow you to have an investment account. It seems to me that they don’t know their own Business. Very sad!

Hi Nicolas, we are surprised to read this comment considering that we have a very clear understanding of the types of visas we support for creating an investment account with us. We state those here: https://help.titan.com/en_us/how-do-i-signup-with-titan-rJjbVyFr9. We hope this helps clear up any misunderstanding, and we will do a retro internally to ensure no one on our staff mispoke or miscommunicated these visa requirements. Thanks very much for your feedback.
