I believe predatory practice is used with this company. My Ex-husband had a used vehicle thru them, paid for a year or so, it got repo'ed and they sold it at auction for $7500.00 and now i am being granished for $18,0000.00 on a vehicle not worth half that amount. In this economic climate I think a more equitable and reasonable resolution should have been initiated. The vehicle blue books at 12,000.00 and they have been paid mmore than that and now want $18,000.00 more in which I have to spend more money to dispute and is a ridiculous amount.

We have been contacted several times by the company regarding delinquent payments on an auto loan. After the company has been contacted by us and told that we can no longer make the payments due to financial strain and that we will voluntarily turn in the vehicle, we have been nothing short of been harrassed regarding this matter. The company seems to send our account to several different people because we can never get the same person twice. One person is very nice and informative of our options, the next person is very nasty and condescending. After our telling them to pick the vehicle up for about 2 months now, they still refuse saying that they will not accept a voluntary repossession and that if they do take the vehicle back that they would garnish our wages for whatever the differnce is in the amount from an auction sale. We have had to change our phone number after receiving up to 4 to 6 phone calls a day, some very nasty. I had someone call my place of employment today, only to be asked if I was stupid. Is this the kind of thing that I really have to put up with?

26 days late on my March 13, 2008 payment & attempted to call to make payment April 11, 2008 & payment was refused. I was told I had to pay the March 13, 2008 payment & the April 13, 2008 payment otherwise they would not accept anything. The April payment due date was April 13, 2008 therefore I don't understand why would prefer to repossess the vehicle rather than accept the payment less than 30 days late. The creditor has been calling and harassing my family members & disclosing personal information to anyone that answers the phone. they also have someone calling pretending to be DHL delivery service asking to verify the address.

I was unable to make 2 payments therefore they are attempting to repossess the vehicle and as of today I am less than 60 days late & was prepared to make the March 13, 2008. I did not think it was legal to demand 2 payments, basically making me pay the April payment before the due date.

I have a car loan through them and had some recent medical issues that required me to take a leave of absense from work (and putting me behind in my payments - not even 2 whole months) Previouly my account was in good standing. I even called to advise that I had cashed in a 401k plan to pay ahead until i return to work. Since then, they've called the receptionist at my job and my mother and discussed mt account with them, even going as far as asking if they could loan me the money to pay.

They faxed a detailed sheet showing the amount I am behind and a demand that I pay today to my employers personal fax machine to my attention (which I was written up for - especially since I work in the finance department) I've been called names, sworn at.... they even play games on my cell phone and call and block the number and leave nasty detailed voice mails (which i have re-recorded to another device) Is there anything that can be done to make this stop. There have to be laws that give them limits on what they can say and do.

Iwas contacted by phone from this company for an account that exists solely for my sister who's home residence is forty miles away from mine. The representative asked for my sister. Itold them that she does not live with me and that last number I had for her was disconnected. I also told them that I had given her a message the month before of of my voicemail from them. In December I requested that I be removed from her contact list. Not only did she tell me she was calling about her car she also told me that they had reported the car stolen and that if my isiter or her husband were driving that they would be arrested. After repeating that I only see my sister when she drops. The calls still came.

For two weeks they stopped. Today I spoke to another representative who would not let me talk and repeatedly tol that i would tell their client too call. I ended this second by hanging up. I told her that I would seek counsel from my lawyer. She replied, that I did not have a lawyer. I gave my lawyers name and hung up. Twenty seconds later the phone rang again, it was the same representative. I told her that the more she called the more grounds I had for a harrassment charge; Once again I hung up the phone. She called right back. Thre more times she called I was actually on my computer looking for information to file a complaint when she called the last time.

every morning and most of the time 2-3 times a day, i get phone calls from this company. they are calling for my sister and her husband who does not live here. i have given them the number of their house 3 times and told them not to call my house anymore. this harassment continues. finally i got upset and said to the lady this morning "**** quit calling my house" and hung up. would you believe she called my house back 4 time in a row and said "well, my husband should pay his bills and to quit talking about myself like that."

i called back the company and demanded to speak to a supervisor and another lady answered and refused to give me a supervisor because i did not have an account there.then she told me to quit getting rude with her. i was not being rude to her, i just wanted to speak to her supervisor. she continued to refuse.i told her to quit calling as this is harassment. as i am not the account holder, i cannot change the phone number as i have been told by them before. i want the harassment to stop.

I am a 33 year old adult, who is using my parents address as a billing address because I am a full time University student living with other people. A customer service representative made a telephone call to my parents home. My mother, answered and the operator disclosed personal finance information about my account to her. The representative further made inappropriate remarks indicating they would send someone to their house to repose the vehicle (which was an untrue statement). My mother gave the phone call to my father who then paid via check (over the phone).

They again gave him personal finance information. They had a threating manner. My parents were NOT co-signers or used as a reference. They have no knowledge of my personal finances. CPS used threatening remarks in order to obtain a payment. They disclosed personal information to an unauthorized 3rd party.

individual called my home in a very hostile manner regarding something i have nothing to do with, and was very unprofessional and rude to my wife. individual stated that she could call my home anytime she wanted, and made comment regarding my wife not being a good mother. i feel this individual needs to be dealt with in the appropriate manner as this is certainly not the way to conduct business.

In November 2005, my husband and I purchased an automobile from Steven Auto Mall on south broadway street in Wichita Kansas. We had a discharged bankruptcy and knew that we would have a difficult time getting a decent interest rate. The salesman told us that only one financial institution, or company would work with us due to our recent problems financially we would have trouble financing anywhere we went. We were under the impression that a person could not just go shopping around to finance a car because every time you had a dealer try to offer you a deal, when they ran your credit it was a hit against your credit history as an inquiry.

We were not aware that this rule had changed and you can now shop within a time frame, 30 days I believe, and not have the inquiries show up as more than one hit. Provided you are "auto shopping", etc.

So, we are sitting in the sales persons office being told that because of our bankruptcy no one wanted to deal with us, and that we would not be able to shop around or it would hurt our credit further. We needed the vehicle and although the asking price was a little above value, it was not too bad. All things considered. The car had medium milage and was a rental car prior. In trade we were trading back an auto that we purchased 6 months earlier from the same dealership. we had paid 1500.00 cash for the trade-in auto.

They offered us a few hundred for the trade against the new auto. Of course the entire process took hours and my husband had to go to work, 2nd shift. I finished up the paperwork and drove the car home. My husband went in the next business day and signed his signature on what papers needed to be signed. Two weeks later we were contaced by phone by the dealership, finance officer. He told us that the paperwork we signed had a typo on the interest rate section and that we needed to sign corrected paperwork. Stating that this error was in our favor by about one half percent. We went in seperately and this took about 3 days or so because of our work schedules.

In another month, we received a phone call from a Consumers Porfilio Services, asking for every bit of information that we had given when we purchased the auto. When questioned, they told us that the loan was recently acquired and they needed to set up our account asap and the paperwork had not reached thier home office in California. After calling back to the dealership, we were told that yes, the loan had been sold to Comsumer Portfolio Services. Fast forward. Within two months after purchase of this auto, my husband was laid off, again, from Boeing. He did go into another job pretty quickly but, because of pay differences since then, we have once again struggled.

Since then, I have tried to have this loan refinanced and spent a great deal of effort trying to understand why when I call for a payoff the payoff is quoted as twice the balance. When I call for a balance the balance is half of the pay off. I cannot get this car refinanced anyhow or anywhere. I have been told that the interest on this loan was front loaded. And that this practice is illegal in Kansas. It is hard for us to believe that we were at any time informed that this was the contract we were signing. No matter how badly we needed a vehicle we would not have paid two times the price for one. We wonder about the having to sign "corrected loan papers" if it was at that time the loan was changing hands. There was a lot of information that was not disclosed to us up front and we feel that we were discriminated against, and quite possibly may have had some sort of fraudulant/Predatory loan practice take place. Not to mention that this company, Consumer Portfolio Services, treats us like complete and total idiots.

We are extremely disappointed to have learned, after going around to pretty much every respectable auto dealer in Wichita and a few lending institutions, that we would have qualified for a very decent loan back when we purchased the auto. Any light that can be shed on this unfortunate situation is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I was told that my daughter(who no longer resides with us) had used me as a reference and would I forward their number. When I questioned her what this was in regards to, she refused to respond. When I asked what kind of business this was, she refused to answer. I called the number back- without extension- to see if I could be connected to a supervisor, I was put on hold for extended periods of time and finally after 5 tries, I told them not to put me on hold, the man hung up on me.I believe this is some kind of collection agency and these people have called us several times in the past year trying to get info out of us. When they call their number and name is blocked.

I have called repeatedly about receiving the titles to my car that I have paid off this month. I made 48 monthly payments, which was the agreement of the contract. Consumer Portfolio tells me I need to make an additional 3 monthly payments for some strange reason, without an explanation. By me being in the military, these payments had to be made by allotments, which I did not change, stop, or was late. They said they were going to initiate an audit of my account. The audit was bull****. I also asked for my payment history for this account.

Consumer Portfolio sends me a payment history for the past year and a half. When I asked them for the remaining time of my payment history, they refuse to release the history. I'm starting to believe they don't have it from when they bought this organization from Seawest Financial. Not one representative can give me an explanation for what they are doing. The supervisor seems to never be there to accept my calls. I left a message with him, but once again he's a busy man (doing what?)The representatives of this organization are rude, their liars, and uses most of their time rushing me off the phone without results. I kept up with my part of the agreement and I expect them to do the same. If I would have missed a payment I would have been harrassed.

I first started financing a car I bought through a company by the name of VIS Auto Finance, Inc. This is the third company that took over the loan since I bought the car on February 28, 2003. I was receiving regular statements from the second company the last statement I received had a current balance of $6951.63. I was then notified that this new company will be taking over the loan from the present company I had which was Seawest Financial Corporation.

Since this new company my balance has rocketed to $9059.48. It has been explained to me that I was being given all along the balance without interest, somehow i dont buy it. This car original value was $6900 plus the necessary charges they mark-up. I have been paying more than a year now without missing any payment or being late. I have proof of payment, but something dont seem right with this company current balance. Please assist me in any way possible.

I had a five-year installment loan agreement with CPS that began in Feb. 1998. Over the course of five years, I made my payments by way of Western Union Quick Collect or Moneygram. On many instances, the payments I would make, while being told by Western Union and Moneygram that these payments were in CPS's account within twenty minutes of having been sent, CPS sometimes would not post these payments until one or two days later, thereby allowing further interest and penalites to accrue on my account. Only after having requested a printout of my account payment history almost four years into the loan, did I realize that this is what was being done.

When I contacted Customer Service, I was told that the payment would not post the same day unless it was made before 3 p.,m. California time. The loan I had was a simple interest loan, with a very high interest rate. The additional interest and penalties that accrued on my loan contract were quite substantial over a four-year period. If the money is available to CPS twenty minutes after I send it to them and is as Western Union informed me, "in their account," how is it that this is not reflected in my account payment history. I can understand the later posting, however, it would seem only fair that the payment is shown as "received" when it is actually received, rather than when it is convenient for CPS to "post."
