individual called my home in a very hostile manner regarding something i have nothing to do with, and was very unprofessional and rude to my wife. individual stated that she could call my home anytime she wanted, and made comment regarding my wife not being a good mother. i feel this individual needs to be dealt with in the appropriate manner as this is certainly not the way to conduct business.

In November 2005, my husband and I purchased an automobile from Steven Auto Mall on south broadway street in Wichita Kansas. We had a discharged bankruptcy and knew that we would have a difficult time getting a decent interest rate. The salesman told us that only one financial institution, or company would work with us due to our recent problems financially we would have trouble financing anywhere we went. We were under the impression that a person could not just go shopping around to finance a car because every time you had a dealer try to offer you a deal, when they ran your credit it was a hit against your credit history as an inquiry.

We were not aware that this rule had changed and you can now shop within a time frame, 30 days I believe, and not have the inquiries show up as more than one hit. Provided you are "auto shopping", etc.

So, we are sitting in the sales persons office being told that because of our bankruptcy no one wanted to deal with us, and that we would not be able to shop around or it would hurt our credit further. We needed the vehicle and although the asking price was a little above value, it was not too bad. All things considered. The car had medium milage and was a rental car prior. In trade we were trading back an auto that we purchased 6 months earlier from the same dealership. we had paid 1500.00 cash for the trade-in auto.

They offered us a few hundred for the trade against the new auto. Of course the entire process took hours and my husband had to go to work, 2nd shift. I finished up the paperwork and drove the car home. My husband went in the next business day and signed his signature on what papers needed to be signed. Two weeks later we were contaced by phone by the dealership, finance officer. He told us that the paperwork we signed had a typo on the interest rate section and that we needed to sign corrected paperwork. Stating that this error was in our favor by about one half percent. We went in seperately and this took about 3 days or so because of our work schedules.

In another month, we received a phone call from a Consumers Porfilio Services, asking for every bit of information that we had given when we purchased the auto. When questioned, they told us that the loan was recently acquired and they needed to set up our account asap and the paperwork had not reached thier home office in California. After calling back to the dealership, we were told that yes, the loan had been sold to Comsumer Portfolio Services. Fast forward. Within two months after purchase of this auto, my husband was laid off, again, from Boeing. He did go into another job pretty quickly but, because of pay differences since then, we have once again struggled.

Since then, I have tried to have this loan refinanced and spent a great deal of effort trying to understand why when I call for a payoff the payoff is quoted as twice the balance. When I call for a balance the balance is half of the pay off. I cannot get this car refinanced anyhow or anywhere. I have been told that the interest on this loan was front loaded. And that this practice is illegal in Kansas. It is hard for us to believe that we were at any time informed that this was the contract we were signing. No matter how badly we needed a vehicle we would not have paid two times the price for one. We wonder about the having to sign "corrected loan papers" if it was at that time the loan was changing hands. There was a lot of information that was not disclosed to us up front and we feel that we were discriminated against, and quite possibly may have had some sort of fraudulant/Predatory loan practice take place. Not to mention that this company, Consumer Portfolio Services, treats us like complete and total idiots.

We are extremely disappointed to have learned, after going around to pretty much every respectable auto dealer in Wichita and a few lending institutions, that we would have qualified for a very decent loan back when we purchased the auto. Any light that can be shed on this unfortunate situation is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I was told that my daughter(who no longer resides with us) had used me as a reference and would I forward their number. When I questioned her what this was in regards to, she refused to respond. When I asked what kind of business this was, she refused to answer. I called the number back- without extension- to see if I could be connected to a supervisor, I was put on hold for extended periods of time and finally after 5 tries, I told them not to put me on hold, the man hung up on me.I believe this is some kind of collection agency and these people have called us several times in the past year trying to get info out of us. When they call their number and name is blocked.

I have called repeatedly about receiving the titles to my car that I have paid off this month. I made 48 monthly payments, which was the agreement of the contract. Consumer Portfolio tells me I need to make an additional 3 monthly payments for some strange reason, without an explanation. By me being in the military, these payments had to be made by allotments, which I did not change, stop, or was late. They said they were going to initiate an audit of my account. The audit was bull****. I also asked for my payment history for this account.

Consumer Portfolio sends me a payment history for the past year and a half. When I asked them for the remaining time of my payment history, they refuse to release the history. I'm starting to believe they don't have it from when they bought this organization from Seawest Financial. Not one representative can give me an explanation for what they are doing. The supervisor seems to never be there to accept my calls. I left a message with him, but once again he's a busy man (doing what?)The representatives of this organization are rude, their liars, and uses most of their time rushing me off the phone without results. I kept up with my part of the agreement and I expect them to do the same. If I would have missed a payment I would have been harrassed.

I first started financing a car I bought through a company by the name of VIS Auto Finance, Inc. This is the third company that took over the loan since I bought the car on February 28, 2003. I was receiving regular statements from the second company the last statement I received had a current balance of $6951.63. I was then notified that this new company will be taking over the loan from the present company I had which was Seawest Financial Corporation.

Since this new company my balance has rocketed to $9059.48. It has been explained to me that I was being given all along the balance without interest, somehow i dont buy it. This car original value was $6900 plus the necessary charges they mark-up. I have been paying more than a year now without missing any payment or being late. I have proof of payment, but something dont seem right with this company current balance. Please assist me in any way possible.

I had a five-year installment loan agreement with CPS that began in Feb. 1998. Over the course of five years, I made my payments by way of Western Union Quick Collect or Moneygram. On many instances, the payments I would make, while being told by Western Union and Moneygram that these payments were in CPS's account within twenty minutes of having been sent, CPS sometimes would not post these payments until one or two days later, thereby allowing further interest and penalites to accrue on my account. Only after having requested a printout of my account payment history almost four years into the loan, did I realize that this is what was being done.

When I contacted Customer Service, I was told that the payment would not post the same day unless it was made before 3 p.,m. California time. The loan I had was a simple interest loan, with a very high interest rate. The additional interest and penalties that accrued on my loan contract were quite substantial over a four-year period. If the money is available to CPS twenty minutes after I send it to them and is as Western Union informed me, "in their account," how is it that this is not reflected in my account payment history. I can understand the later posting, however, it would seem only fair that the payment is shown as "received" when it is actually received, rather than when it is convenient for CPS to "post."
