It is now 2015, 6 years after our nightmare with Chase during the so-called HAMP. In 2012 we were forced to file bankruptcy, which also turned into foreclosure. Chase has ruined what use to be great credit into fair credit. We now are trying to buy a home, but no one will even invite us to meet after hearing what is on our credit report. I can't believe here in America this type of fraud can go without consequences!

Have been going through the loan modification process for almost two years now. Each month I receive another letter stating that they need more information. After sending the information, I get a call saying that it has been received, followed by another letter requesting additional information. Every month that this goes on, I am incurring at least $1K in late fees and interest. They are slowly out pricing me out of my home, and I will end up with nothing!! Looking at posts on this site and others, I am not the only one that this is happening to. Something needs to be done!!

We got behind on our payments for the house. We went thru modification and it took months just to get paperwork done. SO FINALLY time comes right at Christmas. Basically, they wanted $2660 January 1, 2015. We have three kids, it was bad timing. My loan modification guy was great, or so I thought. He said that really we just needed to have it by END of that month, not ON JANUARY 1 and then when end of January came and we accumulated the money due for first payment due, I called the company and since HE DIDN'T ANSWER I talked to some lady who obviously didn't care or didn't know anything because she said and I VERIFIED IT again with her that it only needed to be DATED POSTMARKED end of month, so we did that.
WE SEND THE MONEY DATED JANUARY 31, 2015 VIA FEDEX and just last week they sent the money back saying I broke agreement that I NEED TO HAVE THEM RECEIVE THAT MONEY on or before end of month NOT DATED POSTMARKED that date which I explained that whoever I talked to told me twice before I even sent it this information. I was redirected to a manager who said she would try to fix it understanding what I was saying.
Today she calls and says no, they didn't approve it and that our house will go on sale March 1. JUST WHEN I COULD BREATH AGAIN, they are trying to take our home again, IT WAS NOT OUR FAULT. It arrived to them 4 days after the ending of month and they want to take it. THEY WILL NEVER TAKE MY FAMILY HOME, OVER MY DEAD BODY. I cannot go thru another modification process. ESPECIALLY when that so called MANAGER says "IN ALL HONESTY your income has changed" since it's winter and my significant other works outside, and it would make income lower.. bla bla bla... That's not in all honesty at all when in ALL HONESTY IT WAS THEIR MISTAKE NOT MINE! They are making my life miserable. IF I COULD FIND A WAY TO SHUT THEM DOWN I WOULD!

Three years ago the county had a 911 address change giving every home here an actual street name and number not just an RR or a road name for emergency purposes. Chase was notified of this but EVERY year at least once I get another phone call or letter about this. They can't seem to change the property address on their computers,no matter how many times I tell them it is the SAME HOUSE. Their bills get here, they get their taxes money and statements, etc. even the insurance co has sent them letters regarding this. They are so stupid that I refuse to answer their calls anymore.

For 3 years, I have sent my mtg payment in on the 7th. That is my payday. I have had this house for 15 years and though I hit rock bottom a few times after divorce, medical issue and jobless, i always paid my mtg before the placed ended up in an auction. Once was a forbearance and that was in lieu of a modification as I witnessed before my eyes people losing their homes in this trap after being told to "stop paying their mtg for 3 months and then apply for modification; you will get more urgent service.” I know that because it was said to me. I sent payments in via Western Union to ensure they were applied to my account and sold everything I could to keep up the payment... losing my home was not an option.
So, I am now receiving calls from Chase every month, "this is an attempt to collect a debt" is their introduction. My payment is not late until the 16th. I am a paycheck away from the street unless I sell my things; I am self-employed in a dying industry. Just the same, I pay 600.00 a month plus 200 in ins/tax. The house is nice enough. I would like to grow old here. This sudden hounding is worrying me. I know when Chase wants a house, the lengths they go to are traps in disguise as helping hand. Has anyone experienced this? I would like to consider CALS as it is harassing in view of their predatory nature and my vulnerable state. Thank you.

After hardship and falling behind on our mortgage, sought a modification from Chase. They told us they'd work with us and to continue payments, we did for months. But Chase put our home for auction. We filed for bankruptcy to save our home. Then met Court and Chase requirements. Our case was discharged. But now Chase says we're 7 mos. behind and in foreclosure. We did all right. Chase is criminal. We've now got to hire attorney.

We have been trying to get a loan modification for our house since the summer of 2014. Our "specialist" assigned to our case is never available so I always have to speak to someone else. In doing so, I get different stories or different answers of what else we need to do. I have faxed over everything I was told I needed, more than once because our information expired, or according I whom I spoke to just wasn't correct. I feel that Chase keeps dropping the ball on getting this issue resolved. I call almost everyday to check in the status and that's when I am told I need something else yet again.
I was actually able to speak to my "specialist" on Wednesday and she informed me I needed proof of employment. Again. Got it and faxed it over, even called to make sure she received it and she told me yes, everything is ready to go to the underwriters. I felt I was finally getting somewhere. I called just last night to check up on it, where I had to speak to someone else because my "specialist" wasn't available, and i was informed that my case had no reason to go to the underwriter. What? She told me that I "verbally opted out of the loan modification program on 2/11." I was transferred to a manager, by the customer servicer's decision, where once again I feel I was given the runaround.
To continue this application process, they have to follow their policy and review my phone call on 2/11 to confirm that I did not opt out of the program. What sense does that really make to go through this much stress and problems to just give up and say "Never mind" to her? I am beyond stressed and overwhelmed with he lack of communication and simple policies that Chase should be showing. They have been nothing but a problem to deal with since the beginning of this whole process. I just want someone to settle this, quickly, so we can be okay again. I don't even know how this is going to be worked out, or how long it will take. Just an unreal situation in this day and age with all of the "help" available.

I strongly do not recommend Chase Mortgage for any type of home loan. Chase representatives are not attentive to their file and inefficient in handling the loan process in a timely manner. Moreover, they are inexperience with their investors' regulations and standards. I was working with a buyer with the Sale of a condo, unfortunately, the buyer decided to go with Chase Mortgage in Metairie, Louisiana location. The buyer has great credit and income so that was not an issue.
However, Chase did not check the condominium association's standards before having buyer invest money i.e, application, inspection fee, appraisal and other charges plus her time from work. Buyer was out of pocket several hundreds dollars when Chase notified buyer that loan may be declined. Chase was ineffective in their loan process. Condo Assoc standards should have been checked when buyer credit and income simultaneously. Why waste Borrower's money and time and then decline loan?

Chase bought my mortgage back in 2008. I had to file for chapter 13 bankruptcy in 2009 due to the recession causing my business to fail. I filed chapter 13 to keep my home - problem one: I was still mailed my second mortgage and paid it until it was discovered I wasn't to be making the payments, because the second would be stripped. It took the Bankruptcy judge threatening to cite Chase for not releasing those funds back to me for months. Problem two and the current problem: My bankruptcy ended in August of 2014 - In October, I received notice I was "missing a payment" and was being nailed with late fees in a "we are confirming your debt, if correct don't answer" type of letters. I hit the roof, I began calling asking what date of the alleged missing payment. I was quoted August of 2014..
I provided them proof of payment (bank statement) that they were wrong and to remove the late fees and to credit my account. The associate was so rude the call had to be escalated to a manager when she said she wouldn't do it. The escalations manager couldn't tell me an exact date, would review it and could only send me a copy of my payment history AKA, you find it yourself... When I tried to call the manager back, after receiving the payment history, and hopefully her inquiry would issue an exact date... Another manager had to take the call and they had to go all the way back to June of 2012 and verified that as the date of the missing payment - 2012! I went again to the bank records and provided them documents that I had made two payments in May 2012 and they hadn't credited me with the first payment. I called to confirm the crediting and fee removal... They hadn't received the documents, please call back...
I call back a week later and their hold time was estimated at 26-30 minutes... I called back three days later and was immediately connected to a "senior escalations" manager who tried to tell me the case was closed, they had sent a letter saying the payment documentation wasn't accurate. Again, I hit the roof! I literally told them they couldn't be playing hopscotch on picking a date hoping I might not have payment history. Either credit my account or give me the exact month of where I missed a payment. This senior escalation manager placed the account under an audit and are continuing to scratch it's head why the computer says a payment was missed despite the fact they have received exactly 12 payments a year for the past five years...
To have allowed such a situation to occur without any form of notice, to have told the courts that my history was accurate at the time of the bankruptcy completion, to try and fine me 4 years is obscene! To have a system that cannot have special notation of a missed payment and yet they try and play "pin-the-tail-on-the-customer" who is proving them wrong with a payment history is a serious reflection of how bad their accounting is. This is clearly a human error compounded by lazy employees who don't care if the system is right or wrong.
Frankly, I question if this is payback for having a second mortgage stripped and if this type of shakedown is legal. If, big word, I missed a payment back in 2010 or 2011, I should be charged for that amount, instead, they want a current house payment, which of course has only risen a hundred bucks since then. No, Chase is preventing me from getting refinanced, is applying fees that won't be reversed until they are proven wrong and my credit rating is being hit again. Am I angry with Chase? Yes. Five months later they still can't tell me the exact month to clear this up, five months of fees, and headaches of dealing with arrogant, rude and unprofessional people who think you are the jerk for daring to question their accounting. Next stop, writing my Senators and contacting the local media for a consumer segment on TV and ask if any one else is thinking of getting a Tort lawyer involved. This is WRONG.

I applied for a loan on a property that was fully paid and owned by me, and was told that I was approved. After paying for the appraisal on the property, I was notified by mail that I was approved and also the amount approved according to the appraisal or the value of the property. They made me close a Bank of America credit card (lowest interest rate that I had) - according the loan processor, it was required by the underwriter. They then send a fax requesting their name on the homeowner insurance. After all of this was done, I did not received any more phone calls from anyone.
After numerous attempts, I finally called asking to talk to a manager. That's when I finally received a call from the original loan representative letting me know about what happened. He also told me the appraisal was only good for 3 months. He basically said only good luck, and that was it. I suggest that anyone requesting a loan pay for the appraisal after the underwriter approves the loan.

I have been trying to seek a modification on my loan for 16 months. They are taking so many illegal steps to try to foreclose on the property. Every month they ask for more paystubs even though I'm on contract with a school district. They have raised my payment from 1400 to 2800 because they paid the property taxes on my property. Double the payment, how can anyone possibly make these payments? I have tried to talk to my customers service representative of which they have change five times. They receive $1000 from the government for every application they take from the government. I have filled it out nine times. It such a racket. I've owned the home for 14 years and they are trying to take it away. It is just horrible.

I applied for 1st mortgage modification with Umpqua bank immediately after my bankruptcy was filed in February 2013. I couldn't apply for a modification on my 2nd mortgage with JP Morgan Chase until Umpqua was done and it was completed in 6/2013, they just now 1/27/15 COMPLETED MY MODIFICATION. I am not clear on this recent judgement against Chase if 2nd mortgages are included in the settlement, but it should be because it has taken nearly 20 months to complete my request to modify my 2nd mortgage. The options they gave me were: I can release my home to them if it's my first mortgage (WHICH IT'S NOT NOR IS IT AN ACTUAL OPTION) or repay in full the amount due of $50k+. The reason stated by them is because NOW that I was recently laid off I cannot repay them so they won't set up payment options.
Had they finished up the modification in a timely manner (6 mo at least) I would have been repaying them already. Every time I sent in information requested they would switch my modification to a new representative who would then ask for more information and they would say they had all they needed, then switch representatives again.
Unacceptable, I have filed dispute with them and Oregon Department of Justice... I'm sure they being such a big bank that they will win no matter what but wish me luck. DO NOT BANK WITH CHASE.

At the end of last month, I got a notice from Chase that they'd sold the servicing of my loan to a company named Bayview. The Better Business Bureau has an alert for Bayview for failing to apply loan payments properly and there are tons of complaints on different websites about this problem. Chase said my loan was transferred on 2/2, payment was due 2/1. Chase didn't withdraw the payment or pay my property taxes (also due 2/1). I now have to deal with Bayview for the Feb payment/taxes and as of this AM, I'm "not in their system". What do you want to bet, this is going to be another nightmare to get my mortgage payment in and taxes paid? When I called the Bayview service number this morning, it said "too busy leave a message" then mailbox is full. That's a bad sign of what's to come. Thanks Chase for once again screwing me over.

With all these reality and exposure tv shows maybe they should look at doing one about Chase's mortgage process. With their underwriters violating federal housing as well as privacy laws under a ruse of claiming to need such for the so called new federal regulations of verifying where funds came from and went to... but in reality, as you can see from the numerous complaints, it appears that JP Morgan Chase is running an application fee scam on the public in the housing sector. Then we will have to have the same grievance on why our FBI white collar crimes division has not investigated the multitude of grievances that upon an audit will find the majority of those they bilked out an application and appraisal fee, qualified for a loan by moving on to another mortgage company - who by the way, has the same risk management definitions as a CHASE Underwriter.
JP MORGAN CHASE BANK should be the very last bank any one chooses to do business with, like all the others, we learned this the unfortunate way and we wasted our monies to this zero value bank. Yes they have ZERO value and you as a customer are of ZERO value to them, all they want is their scam fee... they're no different than the street thief, pick pocket, only difference CHASE has its fat hands buttering the very government division that is suppose to protect the people from these white collar atrocities not empower them.

I have spent the last 8 months trying to resolve a situation with CHASE Home Finance. (Funny they don't have a tag on FB) Back in June of last year I received, via registered mail, a delinquency notice from Cook County for unpaid taxes threatening tax sale if the delinquent taxes were not paid by July 1. Knowing that CHASE pays my taxes on my condo and the notice directed me to contact the company that pays my taxes. I took the notice to CHASE BANK to investigate this matter. I knew the parcel number did NOT match my mortgage parcel tax ID number and asked them to INVESTIGATE this notice that was sent to "occupant" at my address.
18 days later I receive a letter from CHASE telling me they have paid those taxes from my escrow and I need to file papers to add this unknown parcel to my mortgage. I called them immediately to tell them I NEVER asked them to pay anything or add any parcels to my mortgage and made a trip downtown with my mortgage papers and the notice in my hand. In a matter of 5 minutes I was told that the delinquency notice did NOT pertain to me, that it was just an address and to not worry about it. And that the parcel tax ID had an OVERAGE.
Once I returned home, I called CHASE to again tell them that they should NOT have taken money from MY escrow to pay these taxes, that they belong to someone other than me and that I confirmed with Cook County that the taxes were NOT mine to pay. After numerous phone calls, special INVESTIGATIONS, talking to a number of supervisors, escalated investigations, Half refunds, escrow shortage notices, mortgage recalculations and the incredible frustration and maybe an ulcer. On 12-27 (almost 7 months later) I thought the matter was finally resolved and all monies were returned to my escrow account.
On January 13, I received a letter from CHASE stating that the erroneous parcel number is mine and the charges to my escrow have been deducted accordingly. WHAT!!!! I too received a letter from the CHASE Home Finance Tax Department Executive Office that an INVESTIGATION has been initiated due to a complaint I had made to the Illinois Attorney General. Today (1/29) I had a call from CHASE to tell me I should deposit the check they had finally sent to me after the 12-27-14 completion (or so I thought) one of the most grueling, most frustrating matters of my life. (OMFG) And I am serious. Even after all of the crap I went through being beaten, smashed with a car, dying, and the 2 years it took me to recover.
It kind of pairs with the numerous hours (nearly a full time job) I spent on the phone resolving the issues around my insurance claims with BLUE CROSS/BLUE SHIELD. Even though the 3rd EXECUTIVE consultant was informed by myself that the taxes were NOT mine to pay and that they should have never been taken from my account and that I am pretty sure it is illegal to take monies from someone without authorization to pay someone else's taxes. She still stuck to her guns and told me that I was responsible for the taxes AND the penalty fees and the next years installment fees for 2013. OMFG - These people are insane and taking me with them.
In search of another confirmation, I have called the management company of my condo association / buildings to inquire about the tax parcel number and they were able to tell me the ACTUAL owner of the erroneous tax ID number. THE OWNER OF THE TAX ID THAT MY BANK PAID ON IS IN THE BUILDING NEXT DOOR. Same unit number but different building number. JP MORGAN CHASE HOME FINANCE, did NOT do any investigating. Those lazy ** did not contact anyone, just paid the bill, made a mistake, don't want to own the mistake and are trying to make me pay.
I AM AT MY WITS' END WITH THIS SAGA. Though I was told by the last Chase employee I spoke with today, that this matter will be finally be put to rest. I AM NOT CONVINCED. JP MORGAN CHASE HOME FINANCE should be outed on this. Because it is ridiculous and uncalled for business practices. Mere common sense would solve this problem. Or at least one would think.
"LIKE" IF YOU AGREE - "SHARE" IF YOU MEAN IT. Don't worry - It is ALL completely the truth and have documentation to back it up. I am pretty sure I can't get sued for telling the TRUTH or giving my opinion of the truth. Thanks for listening - this is therapy for the anguish they have put me through. Wish me luck.

I have been working with Chase Bank for years, unfortunately since my ex decided to stop paying mortgage in 2009. I finally got the loser evicted in 2013. After two states and two appeals, and Chase told me I need a listing agreement prior to a deed in lieu by a licensed realtor, which I had in effect for a year. I am the only deed holder. My ex is on the note. Time and time again my ex called and changed the address and phone numbers, holding up my loan modification paperwork process while also releasing my personal private information.
During my listing agreement and loan modification process, Chase took my ex to court in NYS somewhere without my knowledge or consent and there was a ruling I cannot obtain. I also requested my original loan documents from Chase as well as my RESPA documents from a fax machine in a courthouse in CT 3 times and received nothing. Nothing properly done here and not served by due process. I hear a lady is suing for this kind of breach in OH. We should watch very closely for a class-action lawsuit because I am sending in loan modification documents again today for the 30th time due to them 'timing out' due to a lousy incompetent caseworker.

I feel ashamed to say that I use to work at JP Morgan Chase so when it came to buying a house, there was no doubt in my mind that I would want to lend from them. Chase Mortgage must be the black sheep of the company because customer service was HORRIBLE. Avoid lending from them!
My appraisal was said to take 2-4 days but ended up taking 30 days. I was way pass the escrow closing date. I trusted my loan officer when he blamed it on the appraiser. I believe him when he told me he has never seen such a long delay in his career. The appraisal cost was included in my loan application fee. So when the appraisal was delayed and my loan was eventually force to fall through, I asked for a refund on my application fee. It felt reasonable for Chase's mishap.
My loan officer turned and blamed the delay on the house and not Chase. When I escalated it to his manager that there was NEVER any communication to me of such an issue, I was getting the run around that it was internal communication and it is not disclosed to the buyer. Also since most of my communication was over the phone calling asking my loan officer for updates on the appraisal, I had no written proof; they said the delay was on the appraiser. A refund was not possible.
I am pretty much still in shock on how they made this process so difficult. I thought I was getting a great deal to have the appraisal included and paid for but definitely learned my lesson to pick my own!! In the end I felt they just wanted my application fee and never intended on lending out money. Now I'm house-less and out $600 for the loan application plus inspection fee. I will never lend from Chase and I will always have everything in writing.

Well I contacted them about the government refi program and they said they could help. I had a 6.5 interest rate on a 15 year loan with a house payment or about 1500.00 a month including taxes and insurance. I was inquiring about lowering my interest rate on the loan to lower my payment. They were very nice and started asking all the questions, which I answered. They mentioned lowering payment by extending loan to a 20 or 30 year and I said I am 76 years old, I don't want a thirty year loan and it be done without extending the term. They said they would see what they could do under new guidelines. A few weeks went by and they contacted me and said they could help - that with the government's new standards they could cut payment almost in half. Now I'm really interested. They told me to start making a payment of 850 on the first of the month. I said "I would but what about the rest of the payment should I make it?" They said "No" so I made the first payment.
I got a notice from bank about late payment. I called the number of the contact person handling my loan, she said not to worry it would be ok. This went on for about 6 months. I kept asking with every payment how is this going to work without extending my loan. People I discussed this with at work heard me ask over and over "how can you do this without changing the length of my loan." They said with new government rules when all was final and they told me I was accepted. I find out they wrote a 30 year loan added all the late fees and unpaid payment to a ball on payment at end of the loan. I said "I didn't want that. I had told you from beginning I didn't want a 30 yr loan". She says "well ok just pay all the late fees, penalty and all of unpaid payments and we will let you start making the 1500.00 payment again." Well I didn't have almost 6000.00 dollars to give them and was afraid of losing my home so I signed the papers. I Just hope that what happened to me won't happen to anyone else because of the way they side stepped my question every time I ask "how can you do this without changing my term." Very dissatisfied with chase mortgage and would never recommend them. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening to someone else?

It is called Chase Mortgage Scam. Chase does not want to lend, they just want to take your application fee and drive you crazy until you give up. And if you want to complain to the Mortgage Executive Office, all they do is cover up and denial, denial.. Chase Mortgage is worst bank for mortgage. I started to apply refinancing in September 2014, the mortgage loan officer Ryan ** told me the only fee Chase charges was $670. The rest will be 3rd party fee. When I receive the Estimate closing fee, it came up to $6900 without explanation. When I complained to his boss (his boss: James **), he was a Jerk too. It took two weeks to get back to me and he did not explain it. Same thing for the Executive office. I am so tired of dealing with Chase, and I will bring it to the Attorney General office.

In 2003 my wife and I paid off the Mortgage we had with Citi Mortgage in 2007. However they sold all their Mortgages out to Washington Mutual Mortgage. Citi Mortgage sent the Convince of Paid in Full Documents with all of their Mortgage. However the Documents was not properly handled at all. In September 2008 I was doing a Mortgage to pay off an Second Mortgage that I had with Great Basin Bank of Fallon, NV. Not being aware of the fact that this loan should have not ever been a second Mortgage in the first place, as at the time I received this I had no First Mortgage as Citi Mortgage was Paid in Full from the Estate Money from my Wives Fathers Estate left for her in 2002.
The nightmare started because of my health issues and I was not mentally able to understand what was happening with our Mortgage and the American Escrow Title Company did not catch that the Citi Mortgage had been Paid in Full and we had the Deed Title from them long before the Wells Fargo Mortgage came about in 2008. So where do I go with a messed up deal like this, been trying to handle it, the Attorney General of Nevada mailed a letter to Wells Fargo Mortgage to help get it straightened out for me. But all Wells Fargo Mortgage was tell me that I have to get Washington Mutual Mortgage to pay me the money they Paid to Washington Mutual Mortgage that was the First Mortgage that, never was made at all as the Citi Mortgage was all ready Paid in Full 3 or 4 years before Washington Mutual Mortgage ever in the Picture at all.
Now I have to Deal with JP Morgan Chase Mortgage as they now have all of Washington Mutual Mortgage, and they're not doing anything, I had faxed all of the papers from Citi Mortgage 5 times now, and walked the paper in to Chase Bank and they Faxed all the paper to The Department, that someone would get back to me within 48 hour. That never happened at all to this date. About the loan that I have been paying to Wells Fargo Mortgage for the last 6 plus years. All I want is my Money Back Plus all the Interest & damages that, they have caused me. Today while I was at the Doctors and Lab taking care of my health issue, Chase call me to ask me what they can do for me. The massage was on my answering machine, and wouldn't you know it they was not, where I could get them back on the phone today, as they're calling from the Central Time Zone two hours ahead of my time. The Attorney General told me that, he could not do any more for me by law, that I would have to hire and Real Estate Lawyer to help with the matter. Don't have the money to hire one at all. I for the life of me don't know, why the American Title Escrow Company and the Banks that made the mistakes on all of this cannot get it all worked out and just get me my money back to me?

This is an unbelievable case. I had a paid up mortgage with Bank of America when they sold my account to JP Morgan who within 8 days of receiving my account and without contacting me filed for foreclosure. JP Morgan insisted that they do not have to accept the BofA modification and did not participate in HAMP and refused same. I continued to pay the mortgage payment to MARIX Servicing LLC and they still continued with foreclosure proceedings. I hired an attorney who was no contest with the high powered BofA and JP Morgan attorneys. She ultimately released all defendants and we were evicted. Prior to the eviction we offered to repurchase our home at the current market value which was at $235,000 per evaluation. They even signed two stipulations that they would work with us on a repurchase. They came back with the original purchase price of $520,000 and the same modification we had with BofA if I should release all defendants.
Needless to say I refused as that would put me in nearly $1,000,000.00 in long term debt and a grossly undervalued house. They sold the house AS-IS for $370,000 and never offered to work with us. I filed a complaint with the CFPB who ultimately closed my complaint without explanation even though I sent them paperwork showing that we had a paid-up modification and continued to pay the JP Morgan servicer. They totally destroyed my credit, put me in great debt and I lost most of my lifetime belongings. Had to move in with Son. The Justice Department looked the other way and gave me a name of a person handling illegal foreclosure financing which was a farce. I haven't quit fighting and will continue to fight until someone pays attention.

I want to file a complaint for Chase mortgage services. I chose Chase for my mortgage services before few days when I started to look for my lender for my home buying process. I have been really very disappointed with Chase bank mortgage services. I was given a pre-qualification letter with 3.875 mortgage rate. When we wanted to start the loan process for the house - all of sudden the banker told me that now Chase bank has changed some policies and I need to have 100k on after paying 20% down payment for my property. I should have been informed if policies have changed so I can make a informed decision. Then we were asked us to do some conditional loan approval process which took more than 2 days to finish.
I was about to close deal on a house and I had to back out from middle of it because of delay in the process. This is totally unacceptable - as a lender for mortgage the bank and the service people should understand the buyer's situation and should be able to stick to what they have offered us when we presented them all the documents. I want to file this as a complaint against the banker and the lending manager that the customers are not being kept in loop when policies are changed. The bank shows a different behavior when buyers actually going through the process and need time critical answers from lender. Please don't chose Chase at your lender.

Applied for loan modification, went back and forth with lost documents, run around for approx 2 yrs. I received a knock at the door. Chase was starting foreclosure process. I sought help from local Housing council. (Chase looked at them like pee-ons and still gave us run around telling me I didn't qualify for payment option so much down then so much added on to regular monthly payments.) They also said, "We will just send the money back to you" when I told them I was gonna send them lump sum anyway. Denied mods AFTER trial payments, not once but twice. I wrote to NYS Banking Association, (Chase looked at them a little more serious, but not much) gave me a ridiculous balloon payment mod that no one could explain where it came from, not Chase, not the Housing Council and the rep said, "Just sign it and worry about the balloon when the time comes."
After 4 YRS of run around, Chase finally takes me to court. I stopped making repairs 2 years ago. My significant other and I finally split after 17 YRS. I move to a low income apartment when one came available and because my utility expenses are too high, my furnace is acting up and winter is quickly approaching. The final day in court, Nov 8, 2013 and Chase comes back with yet another ridiculous Mod (after trial payments of course). I refuse offer. I receive settlement offer. Chase wants me to reapply for mod. House is still in foreclosure limbo. I opted out of the national settlement for 1 big reason. In April 2013, Chase SOLD the servicing of my loan and settlement clearly stated I was no longer eligible because of it.
Aug 2014, Chase rep calls (Again) asking me what my intentions were for the mod they offered. WHAT? Explained to her about court, tells me house has "FALLEN" out of foreclosure, and wants me to apply for yet another MODIFICATION. I tell the lady, "I'm not going to do anything. I don't live there anymore but allow my 30 yr old son to stay there." Oct 2014 Chase has released the mortgage but I still owe them the original amount plus 5 yrs 7 month of their "Lost interest." Interest, that would not have been lost, if Chase had handled the MODIFICATION process, in a TIMELY manner. Now I may be stuck with a house that needs MAJOR repair, that I can't afford.
I will have to move because the house will be an "Asset" causing me to be over the income guidelines. Problem is it's winter again, the furnace doesn't work, the hot water tank barely works (my son put an old one in). I'm a single mother, unemployed. The house is barely liveable, has been vandalized and vagrants have been suspected of staying there (which is why my Son stays there, security) oh and there are no appliances. My only mistake, APPLYING FOR A HOME MODIFICATION, to begin with.

I was behind on mortgage and tried to get a loan modification. I did EVERYTHING that was asked of me. I sent in enough paperwork to wall paper my entire home because they kept losing it. I was told my account specialist that everything is going well, it's with the underwriter. NOT! I was contacted by a new specialist who tells me they have NONE of my paperwork. How the heck can that be? I have been told more lies that I can count. They lie on each other. It's crazy. It's a good thing they don't use their real names. I was unemployed from March of 2010 to April of 2011. When I did find work, it was at a substantially lower salary. In June of 2011, I filed for bankruptcy but did not include the house in it. I got through it all and still had my very high mortgage with Chase reinstated without issue. However, things remained tight and back in May of 2014, I contacted Chase to see if I could get a loan modification at a lower rate than my fixed 5.25% to get a little relief. They told me I didn't meet the criteria for a modification but they offered me a forbearance plan. My mistake was accepting it.
The initial explanation I got was that the plan allows you to pay a reduced amount for 6 months and at the end of 6 months you go back to your regular payment and then a payment for the deficit is also due. As I got into the process I was told my credit rating would take a hit because they would report a missed payment after 30 days. I didn't quite understand what they were trying to do because even at the reduced payment (which amounted to a little more than a few hundred dollars a month) I was covering the principal and interest so the only thing that was being shorted was my escrow account. So from my point of view I never missed an entire payment. I merely paid a reduced amount. However, my statements from Chase printed a missed full payment, even though I had paid nearly 87% of it on time for 5 months.
Well today, they told me that on Nov. 1, the date of what would have been the 6th forbearance payment, amount I needed to pay to keep my credit from being hit would be a full payment now and then another full payment by the 15th of the month! When I ran the numbers of what I actually paid versus what was due over the last 5 months, I was NOT a full mortgage payment behind. Long story short, by using the forbearance plan, I am going to end up paying $650 more at the end of the plan than I would have otherwise. The really sad thing is that I hung onto enough money in my savings to make up the deficit for what I would have been behind at the end of the 6 months.
Not only did they make me jump through hoops to get accepted, they did a terrible job disclosing the details of the program. I would have been much better off just to use the money I had in savings to make up the difference and pay the full amount and not even bother with this questionable program. A word to the wise: avoid using the forbearance with Chase. It really does nothing for you and is a money maker for them. If I had the money I would hire a lawyer to go after them for consumer fraud with this program, but of course, if I could afford a lawyer, I wouldn't be bothering with trying to get some mortgage relief.

Anyone doing business with Chase Bank should run everything by a lawyer first. I had 4 strokes, Aortic aneurysm, and dementia as a result of the strokes. Yep, I had a documented hardship, and asked Chase for a Modification almost 2 years ago. It took them almost a year to finally approve it instead of foreclosing. Yesterday, I was reading over the Mod agreement and found in the little tiny print a clause that stipulates I can't sell the home without written permission from them... forever. If I try to sell it anyways, they will require the full amount of the loan amount, or foreclose due to breach of contract. Two weeks ago, I finalized adoption of my 3 grandchildren and need a bigger house before I zone for good so they and my wife and two bio kids will be all set up. I explained all this to Chase and told them they should have helped me understand the consequences. They took advantage of me at a time I just asked for help. The modification was my only alternative to foreclosure, and I got to keep the home, but I feel like I sold my soul to the devil.

Also, they will request the same information that has been provided to them previously in other documents. It is becoming clear that they do NOT wish to refinance my home so I have to wonder, why were they so very willing to take $500 (not refundable mind you) to begin the process for an appraisal (which from what I understand cannot be used if I decide to refinance with a different company)? We continued to pay on time for over 2 years and when applying for credit we were told that Chase was not reporting our loan as being paid. We again went into the same branch and was given the run around collecting court papers and other unnecessary documents only to be told that it was impossible to reaffirm our loan as too much time had passed and that the lawyer was to have done this not us.
Why did not the bank employee tell us that back in 2009? Because CHASE is just trying to steal our home for little or nothing. Some government agency ought to step in and investigate their practices. If the mortgage is being paid and is current why is it not being reported? If we would have chose to lose our home it would be different. These communistic people are controlling people's future and are making many homeless due to their practices and Customer service is a joke. Then 2 days ago (1 wk before final agreement to be signed) Chase objected to our bankruptcy! Chase decides we owe over 25,000.00 instead of 12,000.00 & they want the difference before the hearing! Our credit is ruined, we are stuck in a bankruptcy repayment plan for 5 yrs that takes HALF our income (and we still have to maintain all our bills less the mortgage & credit cards) and it looks like Chase will take our home of 10yrs anyway! We have had all of the previous complaints that are listed. 5 yrs of crap and still trying to get out of it. Every penny is gone, just to keep our home. They have lied to us, to lawyers, to judges and we have such a high anxiety level it is unbelievable. No one helps, nothing out there for our age group 55-61 and 1 of us is disabled. During short sale they discharge the second loan, now they denied the short sale and proceed with foreclosure. I been called Nelly the account Representative - she refuse to answer or call back. Now their lawyer give us 24 hours to reinstate the mortgage or they going to add another $4000 to the account. I been called Nelly since 8 am, she's not answer or call back.

Gross ineptitude which is a form of delayed tactics that they use to make sure that the homeowner will be in foreclosure and that they kept finding a need of verification or clarification on any form of Pay stubs, Household income, taxes, Job verification, Hardships letters, and any other information that they request and no matter how correct it is filled out, they will delay it to the point that the homeowner will be at 11 to 12 months behind on payments that will allow the Investor to say, we do not approve any kind of re-modification, Forbearance, or Repayment Plan due to the fact of the months of delinquent payments all due to the Gross Ineptitude of Chase. We know this for a fact. We are in this process as this is written.
Our so-called Customer Assistance specialist is of no help. Cannot say anything about how things are going with the re-modification which we did not request or if there is a sell date? Or if we need to send any other information and no return calls. By Fannie Mae calculations which They Say Own the Mortgage (yet how many Investors are involved in this debt note they sell to them which is the true owner?) we qualify for a re-modification due to the income ratio and our Mortgage payment is at 42.5 % of our income. Yet they delay and delay and our home is upside down and they know it. We have the feeling that we will not get the re-mod and we cannot get a loan for the arrears that they caused because they did not work with us on a forbearance that we asked for as of January 2014. Now it is August 2014. Consequences are we will have to fight to save our home and spend money that should go to the mortgage on lawyers because of the delays.

Every month I get receive a late invoice to pay off my mortgage loan. The reason is that Chase puts a 19c stamp on the loan invoice. Since I live in Malaysia (next to Singapore) the letter takes a month to arrive. With 19c stamp it will not be sent to me by air mail so the invoice arrives late. I pay immediately but I always get charged for a late fee. Every single month - for several years. They claim it is my fault because I should pay the invoice the first of every month - although I do not yet have an invoice. But that is not logical. People pay only when they receive the invoice.

My husband and I took out a mortgage with Chase. We were doing good until I lost my job. We tried to refinance 3 times: 1. When I lost my job; 2 when my unemployment was cut; 3 when my unemployment was all done. Each time we were told we made too much even though our household income lost 25000$ a year. Then after they foreclosed we were contacted by our mortgage broker and told that there was part of our mortgage that would have let us keep our house and reduce our payments. All we had to do was call and request this. We didn't know or realize this until it was too late. Why didn't Chase just do what was put in our paper work? We now live in a travel trailer year round and have nothing but now they are going after wage garnishment. As far as I'm concerned Chase Bank is not a place people should go for a place to handle any kind of money or contracts.

I am having a hard time about this but here goes. The bank repossessed my car on Thursday. We went to the bank and went over all our payments and showed that we were up-to-date and they said that my last 38 days late even though they cashed my payment that day. They wanted to refigure the 6700.00 that we owed but with just my checks not my husband's even though both our names are on the loan. They told me to call at 8 the following morning which I did. Now this was Friday and I called and they gave me the run-around about having to wait for the charges from the towing company. What they didn't know was that I had already called them to ask for the charges and they said they only charge the 40 dollars a day.
Well at 4 yesterday after getting the run around by the bank they told me that they had said that they had told me that it would be 24 hours when the paperwork started. I said that they did not or I would not of called every 2 hours and, "you told me to give you 2 more hours and call back." I told them that I felt that this was a scam so they could get more money. They had me on speaker so I had her on speaker and at that time my husband spoke up and said that they could of told us this yesterday. She got real upset because she wanted to know who was in the room with me and I told her it was my husband. At this time she told me that I should of said at the beginning of the recorded conversation that he was also in the room. She began to scold me for not letting her know that he was in the room.
By now I am crying because I am mad. I told her that they lied to me and I am refusing the reschedule. I had made payments every month and showed good faith to pay my bill. I said that I would have to see what my choices are. She started trying to talk to me and I told her "you know I am a senior and when they find out how you treated me and I get all my documentation together, you will lose more than just my loan." I am just bummed out because the car would of been paid for in 9 months. I am not the first person that they did this to. I feel that if I had been on welfare they would of left the vehicle here. But they thought they could get more money from us.

Chase Bank tricked me when I applied for loan modification. Lead me through the hoops for months, and like others, kept me faxing repeatedly the same paperwork over and over again over the period of about 3 months. At the very end of the process, I was denied help and was told that I didn't qualify because I made too much (I had zero income whatsoever, and spelled that out repeatedly in a P/L statement). But when I called and spoke to the supervisor, I was informed that that was NOT the real reason. The REAL reason I did not qualify for loan modification was that the investor who held the mortgage has caveats - that I'd only qualify if I were disabled or my spouse was dead. And... here's the kicker: Chase said that they COULD NOT have told me that up front when I applied because it would have been discriminatory. So they put me through months of agony for naught, knowing it was all a sham.

I began a long and tedious process of obtaining a mortgage from this manipulative and inferior lending giant in November 2013 and it was one of the largest financial errors I have made in my life. I was assigned Rachel ** NMLS Identifier: ** Direct: 800 667 8424 ext ** Fax: **, ** as a mortgage consultant. Rachel did absolutely nothing from the start but place barriers in front of our family, degrade my character and discriminate against my occupation. As a result, the application was declined on the grounds of employment verification.
I am a contract employee who works in 90 day segments. I have been in the profession for 13 years and have had no longer than 5 days of lag time between contracts. This gap was quite simply, to move to the location of the new contract. Although I displayed this history and admirable income, cash flow, investments and credit. I was denied a mortgage, NOT based on employment as suggested, rather based on CHASE MORTGAGE GREED.
I was buying my father’s property as my mother is ill and requires my father to relocate. I was borrowing 75K on 372K equity. I had paid for homeowners insurance (therefore not giving the bank a monthly payment to operate on in addition to my mortgage payment), title fees were to be paid directly at closing by me (which Chase estimated at 17k and the title company estimated at 534.00). Given my profession, payment history, credit, cash flow, savings and investments, CHASE MORTGAGE knew I would not be late, default on the loan and moreover knew I had full intentions of not taking the loan to term. Therefore, they lose as the above actions profit the firm if I default and they cannot generate revenue from interest.
Rachel knew it, Chase knew it, the title company knew it and my broker knew it. So from the start of the process this big bank disgrace of a firm was trying to get out from under the loan. They were successful in complicating my family’s future but they will never defeat our family. I advise anyone with the means, to avoid at all costs Rachel **, filling the pockets of this big bank, or any for that manner and turn this market back to the American people and own land, rather than rent from manipulative conniving and unethical banks which base a business model on GREED. Not only did they discriminate against me for my occupation, they solidified the practice of cash purchasing and taking the bank completely out of my life. If you are currently making the significant error of corresponding with Rachel **, I strongly advise you quickly ask for a new representative and strongly reconsider obtaining a mortgage from Chase.

After 3+ years of trying to get a modification loan, we are having to leave our home. We have been given the run around by Chase for a long time and have filled out and refilled out the modification paperwork over a dozen times. We have had our paper work thrown out for not checking a box on a line about if we did or did not pay fees to a homeowners association, to not putting my electric usage on the correct form. They told us they don't save the paperwork with all my bank info and pay stubs on them and was told to resubmit every time. Our case worker would sound like he was in our corner every time but within a week or so, we could never get a hold of him. His supervisor even telling us he should be contacting us every so many days (but never did).
After our 4th time of refilling out our modification paperwork again, I reported him to Chase. They took all my info and said they would reassign me another. Guess who it was? The same guy. I called to report this problem and how he didn't answer my phone calls or return my calls, but it never changed. The modification had some problem again and we were told to refill out again and again I complain to several people at Chase but I get the same guy. We have tried talking to them until we turned blue and they always sound positive but the whole time they are just moving forward with the foreclosure. On May 1 we receive paper work from their attorney giving a court date, while my "guy" says refill out paperwork again. After doing everything they ask again and again the house was foreclosed the same week they are asking me for more paperwork.
Now no calls or no return calls. The house was appraised by them at $95000 and I owed $110000. Chase comes in and buys it for $127000. Why???!? We bought the house originally for $118000. All I know now is that we have to go and it's me my wife and my 2 boys, 15 and 9. My 9 year old is autistic and change is not good for him. It ended up being a refinancing rather than modification extended her mortgage by years and her monthly payment was only reduced by not even $100.00 (she is in her seventies) they charged her $4,000 dollars to do this. She is 72 really!!! She was confused when this started and someone came to the house for her to sign the papers. Her house is now in foreclosure. When her daughter and I found out we tried to arrange payments but were told today they would not accept it because lawyer fees would be added to the fee and they were not sure how much. They are a bank add it up and let us know before more fees are incurred. Or is that the purpose of it.
She did not receive a certified or registered letter about such an important event. My brother, her daughter and myself talked to at least six people today making it even more confusing. They should have realized that she was confused and advised her what they could offer her was of no real savings. They are crooked to the core. How do they stay in business without the government stepping up for consumers being taken advantage of? Don't know what is going to happen or if she is going to keep her home after reading all the previous complaints. Some people have no conscience.

Today, I spoke with a series of Chase idiots, ending with Gary **, a so-called manager. My husband and I have had our mortgage for 18 years and have only 8 years left. We both suffered from critical illnesses over the last 4 years resulting in a monthly struggle to make payments the last 2 years, which had previously been impeccable. We have made numerous calls begging for assistance-deferred payments, streamlined refinance without credit check, modification, and release of insurance/property tax escrow.
Two years ago, we were denied a modification. We have been told that our mortgage required that we pay insurance and taxes through mortgage/escrow, so dropping it was not an option. We could not meet the credit score guidelines to refinance due to our illnesses affecting our credit, although payments were not late. Beginning October 2013, payments began running late and then we were approved for a modification which took effect in February 2014 with 4 trial payments. All we really wanted was a reduction in interest since we are still at 6.5%. We received the final offer today with 4.5% but at 30 years.
We are not accepting this! So we called and the madness began. We are upset at the ridiculous and insulting offer but what we are furious about is that a rep named Mike told us that since 2009, Chase has offered a streamlined refinance service as long as a client has only been late within a 12-month period. We have called and called begging for this when our payments were made on time each and every month before October 2013, but were never offered this option. When I asked Gary ** to explain this, his response was insulting and repetitive, until I could no longer take it and hung.
I was also told that I could not enter into a repayment of the shortage of payment until I send in written notice that we will not accept the final offer. After reading hundreds of complaints, I wonder if they will conveniently lose my denial of this offer and in their traditional spiteful way, threaten me with foreclosures. We are not in the best of health but we are looking for extra jobs to get rid of these creepy crooks.

I too have been a victim living the Chase nightmare for 5 years now and still no resolution! I don't know what bothers me more... my nightmare and reading everyone else's or the fact that NO ONE (after seeing 1464 complaints - with more to come I'm sure) is coming or has come to our aid to help... HELLO POLITICIANS, LAWYERS, and MR. PRESIDENT!! How can you sit back and read these complaints (I'm sure someone had to inform you of them) yet this bank is still in business - a business WE gave OUR money to save?!
Obama - this mortgage modification program is one that you supposedly created to give people hope and HELP them stay in their homes, yet I'm reading people have LOST their homes due to Chase's lack of so-called help and runaround process, and I am soon to be one of them! Obviously Mr. President you haven't even done a review on how your program is working (or in these cases NOT working for people) over the past few years and yet it continues to be operating on a downward spiral all in the hands of Chase -and the poor desperate people that have come to them for assistance are suffering!
My nightmare began in 2009 when my company had its first of repeat cutbacks resulting in loss of hours and salary cuts. Well when I purchased my home in 2006 it was done through a government type program for single parents and my mortgage was with Gateway (I believe), which in a short amount of time was transferred to Chase (JP Morgan Chase). I was able to keep my head above water with the mortgage amount being higher than the rent I was paying but I was focused on making it work for my daughter (who was 10 at the time), and I to have an actual home to call our own - until the first layoff began in 2009.
I of course contacted Chase for help and I was told about the Obama plan for Mortgage Modification so I decided to apply. What a mistake! This was the start of the most stressful, long, drawn-out mental and emotional nightmare I ever imagined I'd go through as a single parent - to the point of being put on medication for anxiety and depression. What everyone else said about dealing with Chase is absolutely true! When I first started with them I didn't have an actual customer service rep. So every time I called in I got someone different who I had to explain my entire ordeal to over and over and over and for whatever reason my information wasn't entered in my account from one call to the other and so on.
I told them the best number to reach me was my cell phone but they would continue to call my house when I was at work and when I called back it would take days for them to call me back. I completed their requested paperwork (which ended up being around 30 pages), and I KNOW everything they requested was there (because I had a page by page copy) - but I would receive a letter in the mail (not a phone call) to say they didn't receive all the necessary documents which delayed the review of my modification numerous times. During the modification review process I was told not to make any mortgage payments until a decision was made - that decision took a year! My good credit took a big hit and the mortgage payment after the modification was higher than when I started so I still had trouble making payments.
Then in 2011 I decided to call Chase again to see if they could help (thinking maybe I would get someone different or an actual rep to help me). After explaining my situation, they said they would review my paperwork to see if anything could be done to help me. Months later I received a call that they could offer me a repayment plan, which resulted in them increasing my payment by $300 so I had to decline their offer. I was so disgusted. This is their way of "helping" people? This was around the time we experienced another cutback at work and 5 people actually lost their jobs, but the rest of us (10) were still getting reduced hours and salary to save the company money - that's when I hit bottom with depression. I was still playing catch-up from the last cutback (which lasted almost 6 months) and here came another and this one lasted nearly a year. It was a rough and I hated my daughter to see me so upset because it caused her stress too.
The mail was piling up and I just couldn't function mentally so my doctor put me on medication. I did not receive phone calls from Chase, but in going through my mail I noticed I had letters from them that my house was in danger of being foreclosed. No dates or anything just that it was in danger. I didn't think I had any options to go back to Chase for help because I didn't keep up with their first modification and I declined their repayment plan. It wasn't until a friend called to tell me 8/2012 that my house was in our local paper for foreclosure, which I found out started March of 2012. I called Chase the next day and explained my situation yet again and was told I could apply for another loan modification due to loss of hours and salary, which I had no idea I could do. So I completed another round of paperwork and sent it in.
After going back and forth with requested paperwork for a couple months my information made it to underwriting. I then received a notice on my door early December that I needed to pick up paperwork at the courthouse, which I did on my birthday (12/21) when I was off from work. It was paperwork from a lawyer’s office telling me my house was going up for sheriff's sale in 2 months unless I paid the foreclosure fees! I was assigned an actual person this time at Chase (Lissette) and she was extremely helpful and I felt relieved that I finally had someone that seemed to care about my situation and wanted to help! I called her to explain what I received about the fees and sheriff's sale and she went to question the underwriters.
Even though I sent in the paperwork for a modification she was told I had to pay the foreclosure fees and Chase's fees totaling $4,277 before they would move forward with my modification because it turned out (according to them) they kept my homeowners insurance and taxes up to date and they paid the lawyer for the fees, so now I needed to pay Chase back.
They set up monthly payments ($855.45/month) for 5 months, which I had to divide into 2 payments/month and coordinate with my pay periods because I couldn't do the full amount) until the fees were paid and it stopped the sale and foreclosure. I had to send each payment via cashier's check from my bank (costing $5 each) and an extra $11 dollars to have each sent certified mail. What an ordeal but I had to if I wanted to save my house. There were times I was late with other bills to make these payments and times there wasn't enough in the bank to cover my other bills when the payments came through so I was hit with many insufficient fund fees.
Once the payments were complete, it took 4 more months until 8/2013 (another year!) until I received an answer for the modification - my mortgage amount went up again to $959.23! They said it was due to the amount in escrow and if I tried to keep the payments current for 6 months I could then reapply for another modification. Well my payments began 11/1/13 and it only lasted 4 months until February 2014 when I just couldn't make these payments.
My pay checks were $1085 biweekly and I basically lived check to check struggling to get ahead from the 16 total months of reduced hours and salary from the cutbacks. The small child support payments helped, but it wasn't enough and I would be losing those as well in 3 months when my daughter turned 18. Things cost more every time you turn around but with no raise in salary of any kind for 5 consecutive years from 2009 - 2014 it makes it hard to keep up with rising costs of things. So once again I contacted Chase for help end of January 2013 and my information was taken over the phone (monthly expenses, etc.) to see if I qualified for another modification. I received paperwork from Chase on 2/14/14 that they needed more information from me (basically the application and necessary documents for the modification).
I had a new rep now (Evelyn). She called and after I briefed her on my situation, she suggested I complete the application and fax it to her. I was able to complete and fax it on 3/25/14. Evelyn called me on 4/7 to let me know my paperwork was still in underwriting. On 4/15/14 I received paperwork from Chase regarding options I was eligible for and next steps. I was eligible for Rural Housing Service Forbearance to Modification (a program that allows you to make reduced mortgage payments for a specific period of time and after those payments are made the mortgage terms change to make my payments more affordable) - well this is what I've been asking for since 2009! The other options were to Release My Property to Chase or Reinstatement (pay the amount owed in one lump sum, which could never happen).
I was prepared to do the first option and ask them to send me the agreements to sign, but I then that same day I also received a separate FedEx envelope from Chase which was a letter (dated 4/17/14) explaining my Forbearance payment schedule for June, July and August and that I needed to accept and sign the agreement and return it to them by 5/2/14 with the first forbearance payment due on 6/1/14. In looking at the Forbearance payments I was confused, they were $967.03 ($7.80 higher than the $959.23) so I called Evelyn for an explanation before I was going to sign anything. She wasn't there (she was not very good at responding the phone calls) and I left a message. She called back on 4/23 but I was at the hospital getting a back x-ray so I couldn't take the call. As soon as I got home I called her back and waited a couple days with no call back. I left another message for her then I called her supervisor Matt and he didn't call me back either leaving me frustrated.
I arrived to work on 5/5/14 and shortly after I arrived I was told that I was being let go from my job-effective immediately. The company wasn't doing well for years and there's been a for sale or lease sign outside the building for a couple months, so I just thought I was riding the wave until they closed up and maybe get some kind of severance since I was there for 12 years, so I was shocked that even with 8 people left I was being let go. I was even more shocked to find that the only pay I was getting from the company was for my unused vacation time of 2 weeks (amounting to a standard pay check of $1085, which wasn't going to carry me far).
So now I'm still going through this ordeal with Chase. I lost my job, my child support is ending in 2 weeks, I can't file for unemployment benefits for 2 weeks, my daughter is graduating in a little over a month and is starting college in 4 months (no idea what my tuition balance is after financial aid yet), and it's going to take a while until my regular unemployment checks kicks in (with taxes taken off the top I receive $383/wk). I still had medical coverage until the end of the month so I began scheduling appointments for my daughter and I that we had been putting off, but now I'm really in panic mode.
Evelyn calls me on 5/9 - after the agreement from the Forbearance was due - and somehow when she is talking I'm sensing in the sound of her voice she is smiling or ready to laugh on the other end. Yeah, this is a big joke! I kept my cool until we went over the extra $7.80 that was added to my mortgage amount for the 3 months. She said the extra money was to cover the fees from being late since March. I said "Wait a minute. So you're telling me that after underwriting reviewed my paperwork that's what they came up with? And what happens if I would make the payments, what would the mortgage amount go down to since the letter said it would be reduced." She said $959.23! I said "You mean it would go back to the amount it originally was and not be lowered?!" She said yes and that there was no guarantee the modification would be approved to lower my payments.
Here is when I lost my cool a bit. Since we barely spoke with each other over a period of 2 months she had no idea what I had already gone through with Chase since 2009 and what different people told me to do and not to do and so on. So I gave her a rundown and included that for 5 years that I came to Chase for help. I've had to pay $4,277 to save my house from foreclosure and sheriff sale, causing additional financial hardship, and my mortgage amount was never reduced! All that has happened during this financial nightmare (and still on-going) is that my credit, from being told not to make any payments for a total of 2 years, is destroyed and I have a house that I paid $112,000 for in 2006 that is now unsellable due to the $18,000 that was added to the end of my loan.
No one is going to buy my little cape cod, which hasn't been updated due to lack of money, for $130,000, especially in my neighborhood. I expressed my frustration and asked what it would take to actually get help. I also clued her in that on 5/5/14 I lost my job so that's just the icing on the cake. She responded with a very cold "I'm sorry you went through that" response and said since I now lost my job, I could qualify for an unemployment forbearance and yes, I had to complete another application.
I requested she send one to me because my home computer was down (using my daughter’s laptop) and we're out of ink for the printer. Normally I received information pretty quick, but Evelyn decided to send it priority mail instead of next or 2nd day and I received the application on 5/17/14 (requested 5/9) and it had to be completed, mailed and received by Chase on 5/29, which I was able to do.
That was the last time I spoke to Evelyn because on 5/19/14 I received a letter from Chase with a new rep named Patricia. She called me on my home phone, of course, on 5/22. So I missed her call and with the holiday weekend I wasn't able to call her back until 5/27 (not there - left a message) and I've called her on 5/29 and 6/2 and left message and have received no call back. Here we go! I received no information that my house is in foreclosure although I did see on my last series of paperwork from Chase that there is a fee of $1800 that I do not understand what is for. I mentioned it to Evelyn and she told me it was for corporate fees to keep my insurance and taxes going but it should not cost that much for 3 months. I have no money to pay another ridiculous amount for fees let alone a mortgage payment they refuse to work with me to reduce.
I've been told by my observant neighbor that someone was by my house last week taking pictures of it. Last time that happened it ended up in foreclosure. So I will be upset to find out if that is the case when I haven't heard a word from Chase verbally or mailed regarding the status of my latest request for assistance OR from my new rep Patricia. I just want this nightmare to end! All I want is to be able to pay an affordable mortgage payment so we can stay in our house because now being unemployed (until I find another job), who will rent to me and if they look into my credit - forget it. I have tried to get assistance from the housing authority, which a couple years ago said there was $100 million on reserve to help people in PA that were behind on their mortgages and I was denied.
I tried for other types of assistance and was denied because at the time I made too much (gross is considered instead of net - but I plan to try again now that I lost my job). I wrote to my local state representative and heard nothing. I tried talking to another mortgage company but I was told I'm basically stuck with them because my mortgage is not a Freddie Mac or Sallie Mae or whatever they are called. My next step is the White House I guess and sending a message like this repeatedly.
I think it's pathetic that all the people on here have gone through such a horrible experience with Chase and they are allowed to continue to rip people off and ruin lives and no one is out there or offering to try to help us! What a great feeling that is! Where's our bailout?! We're all taxpayers! Shows what our government is really about - themselves. Guess my daughter and I will be out on the street if we don't get any help. Seems Chase is more than willing to take our house. So glad I found others that share my pain with them. Good luck to those still fighting - my heart goes out to you!

Chase Mortgage Company began foreclosure on us in October 0f 2013. I received a summons to appear, so I called Chase and asked out a loan modification. I thought they were happy to comply. Do not trust ANYTHING they tell you. Keep names and phone numbers. DOCUMENT everything. I received a modification letter and it dropped my payment, about $300.00. I called them again and said, "could we reduce a bit more because that was too high and we are selling our home?" My husband is ill, he has cancer. They offered another loan modification in March 2013. I presented all our information and never heard a thing. Called them often. I was told be patient we are working on it.
Today I received a notice to vacate from Chase's Farmington CT attorneys. In shock and very confused I called Chase to ask what to do. They informed me that our home had been sold (never told me to whom) in April. I called Hud, explained our situation. They are trying to save our home until we can sell. Chase has said they notified us. I received no notifications of anything except the order to vacate. I was told be patient we are working on it. They now refuse to help us and will not negotiate anything. They said we never called, never sent any paperwork. I have no idea where to turn now. Hud says they will help us. I hope they can. I cannot afford an attorney.

Since July 2010, I've had nearly constant aggravation with the company, Chase Mortgage, which is 'servicing' my mortgage. First, they didn't pay my home insurance for 9 months, and nearly got my insurance cancelled. I had to notify them of the problem. They seemed happily oblivious to it. They made a lump sum payment, then came back to me and said my mortgage would go up from $477 to $533 a month! This, you see, was because they needed to keep funds in my escrow account.
"Why do I NEED an escrow account?" "See we can pay your taxes and insurance." "Why can't I pay my OWN taxes and insurance?" And here is where they made their big mistake. They LIED to me! "Because it is the law. You HAVE to have an escrow account." I checked. No I don't. I can pay my own taxes and insurance, and further, pay it monthly. How odd. I began doing that - and my mortgage payments dropped to $342 a month.
I am still paying my home insurance, but when the county assessor sent a quarterly bill to me AND to Chase, they made a lump sum payment, and then socked me for it! Further, my taxes dropped (Thank God) from over $900 a year to $600 a year. But Chase billed me for the full sum, telling me once again my payments are going to go up to $477 a month! I can't AFFORD the games they play with other people's money. I have tried to contact them, and pay my own taxes and insurance, and they coldly said my ratio of balance to some other razzmatazz they told me about.
In sum, they don't pay interest on all the escrow accounts they carry. But they DRAW interest on all the millions of dollars on the 'float' interest they get. Not quite sure where. But, I cannot count on having a fixed budget from one month to the next. Their problem? I am 76 years old, 100% disabled, and home-bound. I live on Social Security, and the constant annoyance I experience with this massive, cold-hearted, uncaring, unfeeling bank is tearing me apart. If I pay the amount they demand, I will have to NOT pay somebody else. And if my actual payment is only $342 a month, why do they need to rack up $477 a month from ME, so THEIR accounts profit off of me?
It is very simple: I will pay my own insurance and taxes. I already do a better job than they do! I didn't FORGET to pay my insurance for 9 months, and then try to profit off of a disabled old woman. I am paying house and car insurance every month, without fail and if they will just get off my back. I will pay those taxes, too. Right now, no taxes ARE due on this property until August! And they DON'T get to profit off of me for months while stacking up my bills and their profit. I have already reported them to the Federal Banking Commission once. I will not hesitate to do it again. And THEN, I will go public - in a way they will never forget. I am not threatening harm to them, or anyone. But I can get noisy as hell if I need to!

In 2008, I became unemployed, I contacted my bank (Oct.) and they told me that they could add years on to my loan and reduce my payments. Never received paperwork and got notices saying we were in danger of foreclosure. Contacted them again, made three forbearance payments and situation had not changed. Tried to contact person in charge, never returned call and soon voice mail became full. In 2010, they started foreclosure proceedings and we contacted Ky Legal Aid in which we filled out numerous modification paperwork in which were FedEx, USMail and fax, in which they replied we had not sent in the paper work or all of it.
In 2011, we got back information where they claimed we didn't qualify with income so they added income to it that was not right and offered us a modification not much less than our original loan. We contacted the State Attorney General and filed a complaint in which Chase responded that said I called them in 2011 and decided I didn't want a modification and then called back in 2012 requesting one which was a lie because we have been working on modification and Ky Legal Aid has the paperwork, however she said they could not file a lawsuit against them (can't do class action or something).
Here it is almost 1 1/2 years later and now they send us a modification that is $100.00 more than our original loan. Now they are showing my income to be $430.00 more a month than I have. Please can someone help?

I tried one year to pay the property tax myself, and it didn't work out, so I went back to escrow. I did a forbearance (?) with Chase so I could MODIFY my mortgage temporarily to get back online with the taxes. I paid extra money, plus they took extra money for maybe 8 months. Then, I was caught up. Now, I find out they actually changed my entire mortgage without my okay or permission, and I am now in a 50 year mortgage which actually has some kind of balloon payment in 25 years. I am refinancing but I'd love to join a class action lawsuit against their deception. If you call customer service, as I did twice because my re-fi person told me to check, they insist I am in a 30 year mortgage. I even said the re-fi company said it was a 50 year contract now, and Chase Customer Service said No.
But when I proved it to myself with the amortization schedule online, Chase has lied to me. My principal has barely moved! I thought Chase was a leader in the business world. I was naive. I actually pushed Customer Service over the 50 year remark, and the woman insisted, insisted, the re-fi company was providing my accurate information. CHASE is the one not providing accurate information or they have incredibly ignorant staff. I was an incredibly ignorant consumer. This has cost me an incredibly amount of money the past six years. I want my mortgage corrected, so that money they put onto interest, wrongly, goes onto principal. Who on earth would want a 50 year mortgage on their home. No one.

I lost a part time job in May 2013 and Called Chase and set up a payment plan for one month's mortgage. It was set up by Chase and I made the first payment. Chase then sent me a Loan Modification Package and when I filled it out and sent it in, the payment arrangement was broken by Chase. From this point on, I have a 26 page document of all of the hoops and whistles I have been put through by Chase in trying to resolve this issue. I have done all that Chase has required of me and still they tell me that it's all my fault and that they have done nothing wrong.
The worst part of this whole thing is that I submitted my complaints directly to Chase, thru the State Attorney General's Office, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and My Representative. In all of these submissions, the complaint was submitted to Chase for them (Chase) to review. After receiving the answer to their (Chase's) review and reading them, it can be determined that Chase could have xeroxed the original answer and sent it to me. In all I have filed seven complaints.
To continue on, I was rejected for a loan modification in August 2013. Then I was contacted by Chase and given more options. I was told by Chase that I could apply for a deed-in-lieu. I filled out all of the paperwork and submitted it only to be told that it was incomplete. When I called to ask what was required, I was told that they had everything that they needed. Now I am being told that the deed-in-lieu request was cancelled because I had not updated the information as required and that they (Chase) had sent me the necessary forms for this. Yes, I was sent the forms but after reading thru them, it was indicated that they had everything they needed for the deed-in-lieu request (In fact, I received seven sets of those forms in one week, but when I asked my Customer Assistance Specialist about them, it was indicated to me that they were sent to me by mistake).
As indicated above, I have approximately 26 pages of notes, where I talked to Chase and its representatives to try to resolve this issue. As of tomorrow, May 31, 2014, it will be one year since all of this started. The latest information that I get from Chase is that I can't request a deed-in-lieu until I do a three-month short sale, in spite of the fact that I was told back in Feb. 2014 that all I had to do was send in the Deed-in-lieu forms to receive the deed-in-lieu. The other major item in my complaint is that unless you file a formal complaint with Chase (this goes to the Corporate Offices), you are not allowed to talk to the same representative about the problem. Basically you have to get on the phone and explain everything over and over. As it stands right now I am about $8,000.00 behind on my mortgage and may be placed in foreclosure status at any time. At the present any foreclosure action is on hold. I have found out that if a complaint is filed, any foreclosure action is on hold.
My biggest complaint about all of this is that when you submit a complaint, it's the (Hiring a Fox to Guard the Hen house routine) Chase investigating themselves. Anyone with any common sense knows what the answer is going to be. It's the answer I have been receiving for a year (IT'S NOT CHASE'S FAULT, IT'S YOURS) in spite of the fact that you do everything you are asked to do. Relative to the government programs to help people who cannot afford to keep their homes like the Home Affordable Modification Program and The Mortgage Assistance Program, Chase does everything that they can to refuse those programs to the mortgage holders. And if you say anything to their representatives about it, they get very irate and blame you for it. They will not return phone calls, etc. Enough said for now. I think that Chase should be broken up like the government did to the telephone companies several years ago. They are so big that it's almost like a monopoly, that you have to do what they say or do nothing at all.

My wife and I filed for bankruptcy in 2006 after Chase finance had tried to garnish our wages. We did not get a reaffirmation with our then mortgage holder Washington Mutual. After the bankruptcy had finalized and been discharged, Chase purchased our home mortgage. We thought everything was fine due to the laws of bankruptcy in 2011. Before we started our own small business, we tried to refinance our home. Chase claimed the bankruptcy was still active. We tried for the Making Home Affordable Act, that started all types of hell. Chase held our payments in suspension and try to foreclose on our house. They ruined our credit, cost us our homeowners insurance and have continued to give us problems.
Filing with the OCC provided very little help and in this year 2014, we try to refinance. Been seven years out of bankruptcy and found Chase reporting us having late payments. Chase's no help in getting these payments corrected and credited. We have proof that we made them. We have never missed a payment and never been late yet they insist on holding these payments for a escrow account that we do not have. They decided to pay our homeowners insurance and our property taxes one year and now claim that we have an escrow account to try to work out repayment of this on the side separate from the mortgage to go ahead and make the payments up with them. They insist on including it in our mortgage and are just continuing to give us problems. Chase keeps insisting that we have to go file another bankruptcy to reaffirm the mortgage to correct these issues. We are now trying to reopen our bankruptcy. We have hired an attorney and hope the Chase will come to their senses and just correct their problems and their mistakes.

JPMorgan-Chase Bank should be investigated for well-documented abominable, unprofessional and non-responsive business practices involving Mortgage Banking based upon plaintiff's recent and ongoing experiences as well as thousands of others. In this case, poor business practices involving a Mortgage Loan pre-qualified months in advance in writing for a Buyer of our property in St. Johns, Florida resulted in a series of delays to close of escrow. These delays cost us an extraordinary amount of time signing extensions and follow-up, cost us extra costs associated with the property (utilities, association dues, insurance, etc.) and delayed the property sale from 2013 into 2014 for income tax filing.
I was referred to CFPB by an Investigative Specialist with the State of Florida Bureau of Financial Investigations on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. I was advised that JPMorgan-Chase Bank is a federally regulated banking institution and Florida has no investigative jurisdiction. A formal complaint was filed with the Federal Consumer Finance Protection Bureau that has to date never had an agent contact me directly about my complaint that provided a link to the thousands of complaints included in this consumer affairs complaint scenario involving JP Morgan-Chase. Efforts to have national news networks do an investigative story about JP Morgan-Chase have not been successful. It seems they are more concerned about missing Malaysian Flight Number 370 than the many consumers angry with JP Morgan-Chase that deserve accountability.
Issues regarding this complaint have been directly to Mr. A. Blair Glenn, Senior Vice President Southeast Mortgage Banking with JPMorgan-Chase Bank. Mr. Glenn has failed to effectively respond in writing, has ignored deadlines and failed to return phone calls as of March 6th, the date of this complaint. This pattern of troubling unprofessional conduct seems to be consistent with that experienced by others from a wide range of JPMorgan-Chase Bank hierarchy of contacts. JPMorgan-Chase Bank is no stranger to news headlines related to their business practices. Accountability is again in order based upon what seems to be a very broad number of complaints in the thousands for those who took the time to file complaints.

Since my divorce I've struggled making payments. Once I tried the Chase "modification" process with terrible results. As a matter of fact, I had absolutely NO results. Not even a letter describing why it was not processed, not even a return phone call from the agent who (2 different ones) was supposed to be helping me. On top of that... there were several "NSF" fees assessed by a department that I could not get a phone number to, could not make a payment over the phone. However I could send in a check to this invisible (what I call it) dept. that collects NSF fees. I pay all NSF/late fee/etc. However, there has always been this luminous NSF fee ($1,000 yes, one thousand dollars worth of NSFs per Chase's representatives but no letters saying such).
I've tried numerous times to pay everything to get it cleared, but then all of a sudden, my payments go bi-monthly and with many descriptions as to why by the reps, is immeasurable and too numerous to count. As it came to light this year of 2014, all payments made at the branch in my town (per the direction of the representatives) were made and went directly to "interest and fees" not to my principal. Per the bank, payments do not get disbursed by the bank tellers or bank locations. I am completely exhausted and mentally tapped with this horrible bad situation. It's so bad I think I need a therapist and/or a prescription for my nerves. My account keeps getting depleted trying to fix it. The bank took my insurance roof money and now I'm still stuck trying to get it straight, 3 years plus!!! I cannot even sit and have a discussion about this without coming to tears. It hurts. I'm just deflated. What to do? Go to the World Wide Web and find someone with some true factual input or help.

Tell me how does a total payment due of $5460.73 that was stated on my statement from Chase, not be covered by a total of $5600??? In 2012, Chase advised they would be happy to work with me because "they did not want to foreclose." The judge thanked them and sent us on our way to work out everything. That's the nutshell of it all, with a few things in between. I guess I should also mention the Dept of Child Support enforcement was in court because the non paid payments of my ex had been tied up in our divorce with him making less monthly payments to make up for his part of the owed equity in the home. So the day of court with Chase's attorneys, was spent with them telling what I needed for the modification that I was offered in front of the judge; mind you I had sent the same papers in numerous times before a court date even came up in the first place.
So now I'm thinking I'm finally going to receive help; NOT! I received every excuse about those stupid papers from "We didn't receive that one", to "That was an out of date form. I don't know where you printed that from." And numerous other lies I'm sure. So in January 2013, they foreclosed on a home that I had lived in for over 20 years! About a month later, I receive a check In the mail for $1000 telling me that if I cashed the check, it did not exclude me from the lawsuit against Chase! What!? Also in the beginning... The reason for all of this? I got behind and owed $2000 plus late fees. I sent them the $2000 without the late fees.
After a month of no one at Chase knowing where my payment was, I received my check back in the mail with them saying they couldn't accept the payment because it was not for the "total amount due". Well of course I never could get up enough money and the payments continued to build up. What a bunch of jerks to put a single mother of 3 girls, that got almost no child support, and worked a full time job, on the street! That was the only home my girls had ever known! I really believe that these people are crooks. I wish they could feel what it's like to have the home you first bought and worked so hard for just snatched from under you! How can they sleep at night doing this to families? It's totally beyond my comprehension is all I can say...

Now we are right back where we were $1759.63, not really they did charge us $6708.62 for "Settlement charges to borrower". The bad thing is by the time Select Portfolio took over our mortgage, the payment had jumped from $627.00 up to $720.00 (This was over the course of 2 or 3 years). This is not even with the interest increase for the modification so I hate to see what it will be when that happens. Our mortgage payment is heading right back up to the $883.00 that we couldn't make in the first place without the mod. I asked Chase when we were doing our mod to send me the original note and they sent me a paper signed only by my husband and we both signed all paperwork with the bank. Where is my principal forgiveness if they were supposed to do something to help? All we have gotten is higher payments wanting us to fail. Chase also until the Attorney General's office became involved kept telling us that we hadn't sent papers in when in fact we had. This happened repeatedly. Stay away from Chase and I think Select Portfolio is gonna be just as bad.

I have applied for and been turned down for Mortgage modification over the past several years by Chase. This past year, I was given a trial payment amount and have completed the trial payment period. I have sent in the final modification document 5 times now. The notary stamp printed over other print. Keep in mind that the stamp is larger than the area provider. The next one was rejected because the notary crimp was not far enough from the edge of sheet. A Chase representative advised that I send it without the crimp since it is not a requirement in SC if it is notarized in SC. This packet was rejected due to not having the crimp. I talked with a rep today who informed that if the notary lists their title as notary rather than notary public, the newest packet will be rejected. Each packet is met with a different requirement that it failed initial inspection. The public should be made aware of how difficult it is to actually modify a loan with Chase. At this point, it seems impossible.

Chase Mortgage is by far the worst company I ever had to deal with. They keep blaming their issues on "new" policies but as you can tell with all the negative reviews before 1/1/14, this isn't a new issue. We are dealing with almost every single complaint in these reviews.
Long story short, we are putting 60% cash down and financing 40%. Have 760 and 780 credit scores and make well more than enough. Every day we are dealing with 1 issue from Chase. I think this is the only speed that they can handle. We finally got a "MB Processor" to start dealing with us, we had him give us a list of everything that is left to be done about 1.5 weeks ago. This should have been all that was left before we can start getting docs to the escrow. We get the list and we bust "everyone's butt" to get it all done by Friday today 3/14/14, the Friday before closing .
A week ago I asked the MB processor if one of the steps is scheduled yet, or do they waiting till after the "2nd appraisal" (yes 2nd) and sure enough it wasn't scheduled so luckily 1 of us (me) was thinking ahead. Somewhere in all this, he forgot 1 document needed and yes you guessed it, barely ordered it. So now we are on to next week again with another issue! The way it looks now, we will be lucky to only be a few days past closing, but if it's wasn't for us busting all their butts at Chase, we would be weeks past closing. I regret ever doing business with Chase and as soon as I can, I will be refinancing to stop doing business with them altogether!

We were in need of a loan modification as we were going to fall behind on our payments. 99% of the process went smoothly. We sent all the documents in and while it took 3-4 weeks to hear back, we did receive a very affordable loan mod. Never had any calls for additional documents and none ever went missing. Did the trial payments and received the signed mod back within a month. Only problem I had was it was difficult to reach our main contact but whoever answered the phone was helpful. Very surprised and sorry to hear about all the problems everyone here is commenting on.

Has this happened to you? Chase sold my account to Carrington Mortgage Services. I went online to make a payment and it was for almost double my normal payment but I was not behind on my mortgage. Therefore, I went ahead and made the extra payment on their website thinking it would be an early prepay for the next month. A week later, I received a letter from Carrington saying they did not get my February payment. That the extra amount I paid online was for final expenses for Chase Mortgage, but I did not owe Chase anything as my payment was up to date.
I had to fax my final Chase statement to Carrington to clear this up, but now Carrington is telling me they are overwhelmed in their investigation dept and told me to contact Chase to resolve. Three years ago, I about lost my home over trying to do a loan modification to lower my interest rates. I hate Chase and happy to be away from then, but what the heck are these final expenses, and can they charge these fees? Chase Bank are snakes, don't ever work with them, as I was part of a class action suit against them two years ago and won along with thousands of other unhappy customers.

After researching this and obtaining a copy of my credit report, I discovered that Chase sold my settled mortgage to Ocwen! I called Chase and was told I would have to send them the approval letter to prove acceptance and without it, they would do nothing! We signed our contract November 2013 with an expected closing date the middle of February. The date had come and gone before being told the date is now the 25th. We are days away and for the last week we have been given every excuse from "We are waiting on the bank attorney to sign off", "We had to request another copy of the contract because the bank attorney cannot read the writing (numbers) on the copy we have", to "Due to an electronic glitch the loan cannot be forwarded to the Quality Assurance department for final review". Mind you this is a very very brief summary of the events that have taken place. The lackadaisical work ethic, endless attempts to mislead, outright blatant lying, unprofessional, non-responsive display this company has put on is absolutely criminal.
I too have witnessed couples that have started the process at the same time or just after and are now happily living in their home. Funny all the minorities I have met have had the same issue! Should I dare say I feel they are waiting for us to walk away? This is suppose to be a very happy time in our life and they have managed to make it the worst experience outside of the two deaths in my family THIS YEAR! Of which we have dealt with! And here is the kicker, I myself have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder that is exacerbated by stress. Thank you Chase for having my family witness me on the brink of a debilitating state. Yes, My husband and I are currently in the process of a modification with Chase. In 2012 which took about a year, we receive a modification during the process and made it clear to Chase within a month of the modification income from social security we will no longer receive because of our son age. Chase continue the process and told my husband and I once the check is no longer received to reapply for a hardship. Once we applied we were told we did not have enough income and were not eligible, because we had received a modification within 24 month. On Feb 13, 2014 we contacted Chase in reference to the modification. We were told it was in underwriting. Within a couple of hours Chase called back stating our modification was denied. We have not received any paperwork stating their final decision. Can someone give us some advice with this matter!

After consulting with the mortgage company we documented in the loan that we would close December 20, 2013. Well, let me say after countless mishaps, lack of or no responses regarding the status of the loan, we are still waiting for the buyer to be approved for the loan as of today, February 10, 2014. It has be exhausting as the seller trying to get information on the status as to when the bank will close the loan. Since Nov 2013 the bank has delayed this process with little to no information as to why or with no regards to how the delays impacts the buyers and sellers. All I can say is this is shameful and exhausting to wait this long and not be told anything.
Please note I spared you the lengthy details of how the loan as been through underwriting since we began this process. I strongly feel this is absolute racial discrimination as many others with very similar profiles have already closed on their loan. Oh and did I mention that the buyer is an employee of Chase Bank and she handles helping customers get pre-approved for mortgages. Do this make any sense?

We were in our home from 1998 until JP Morgan Chase caused us to sell our home by forcing us into a foreclosure. We were in our home until 2011. We began applying for a loan modification in 2009 due to me receiving treatment for cancer. We completed the packet and returned and mailed a check for our mortgage. The check was returned and we were told that we could not make a payment while in an active modification process. We continued to call weekly and provided everything they request. Meanwhile, Chase continued to pursue foreclosure. We met with the Master in Equity Judge in our county because they continued to threaten us and we were losing sleep over the stress. Each time we called to discuss this, we spoke to a new "case manager".
Chase was charging our mortgage with tons of legal fees. I called the attorney that they hired and began trying to work with them. We couldn't afford to hire an attorney and did the best we could to file an answer to every complaint we received. I kept a journal of our experiences. In 2011 we owed $69,000.00 for our home and it sold for $110,000.00. We were only able to sell our home because we found a real estate agent who was willing to help. She mentioned a short sale but when she saw the equity we had, she said "let's sell it." We didn't want to sell our home, but we had to in order to stop the foreclosure process and mounting fees. During closing, we only made $2,000.00 profit out of $40,000.00 equity we had in our home.
We moved in with my father and hired someone to help us figure out how to re-establish our credit. We were devastated. It has been over two years, but we still have no settlement or compensation from JP Morgan Chase. We lost the home that was our first home as a newly married couple. We have all of the documentation regarding what happened. We see that there are so many other families struggling with Chase, and I believe that we all deserve compensation. Our equity was taken for legal fees and a back mortgage that we would have never had if they had just seriously considered modification. Thank you for your great work in holding companies responsible for their actions. There are real people suffering behind the scenes. Our previous address to the home we lost was **.

I was prequalified with CHASE in November for a VA mortgage. I paid off my VA mortgage with CHASE on my home in Florida in December of last year as they requested I do. I have signed a contract to purchase a home in California (I am still active duty military) with a builder. It was recommended by the builder to go with their lender due to the perks I could get. However, since I had the prior loan with CHASE I wanted to see what incentives they could give me. I was approved for a mortgage that was a better deal than the builder's lender was offering and was told that it should be smooth.
I told the LO that the home would be completed at the end of January. The home was actually completed on January 21st and I have already done walk-throughs. I am still waiting for "Underwriting" and everyday I am asked to sign another piece of paper or asked about some transaction on my account that is easily explained if you pay attention to what you are looking at. For instance I have payments to my credit card because I pay my card every week. I was asked "why do I have cash advances from my credit card?" I had to write and explain that these are payments to my card among other silly questions they have on my finances.
I was promoted in the military last year so my pay increased . I was asked "why is my taxable income so much higher for last year's return compared to the last returns." I thought more income was a good thing? It is February 4th and my house has been ready for three weeks. I have household goods from my tour overseas that I have not gotten. I have been living in a hotel paying 62 dollars a night for one room and doing my military job and yet today I get an e-mail to sign yet another "Request for Transcript of Tax Return" so they can look at my 2010 to 2013 tax returns. I was prequalified. I have no bills. I have money in savings. I paid off a mortgage 20 years early (with them!). I don't get it. I should have gone with the builder's lender. I probably would have been in my house by now.

Agree with many of the previous issues stated. Customer reps find many ways to keep extending the entire modification process. I can’t even count how many times I stated to them to stop dragging this process out. Even when you give them a time to return a call, they still don’t or they take days to return calls. Very uneducated people in a sense in which they constantly just apologize for everything but nothing gets resolved. They always have to ask another person for help. I repeatedly had to keep sending updated information to them because of how slow they respond.
Started whole process over because got tired of them mixing up recent documents sent. Even then they still said I had old documents. Had Chase branch fax my documents to Chase processing again to make sure everything sent was correct. They still used incorrect updated information. 4x the process was denied with same income amount that was incorrectly stated on first document. They kept saying they had no updated figures which were sent priority mail with a signature. Obviously underwriters just photo copy previous denial letters and never looked at updated information. Then instead of only being 3 payments behind they say I am now 5 payments behind. They used 2 of my payments to cover fees to cover a year of them dragging this all out.
Now, today 2/4/2014, my property tax check is lost. It is always sent to me then I pay the taxes. Lady says never has she seen Chase pay the property owner, it goes to the town tax collector. What?? Never has this ever happened. Again, uneducated people which is why all of us are having problems. Chase is not here to help people. The HAMP program is NOT something this bank wants to allow, they lose money. Who is regulating this government program?
This bank is not doing what they are required to do. I can prove this with documents they say I never sent, and taped conversations they have. So for a 5th time I am told to redo my entire loan process again... It’s a complete joke but I’m going along with it again. This time having every document notarized, sounds funny but I truly believe Chase reps are directed to deny as many loan modifications as possible. It’s a game now, also told today that the documents have all changed too, and I should read the fine print etc., etc. Just laughed. No more calls unless I’m taping them too. No more waiting for them to call, calling them every day. I feel for all the people on here... you all are telling the truth.

Chase Bank ruined our credit and gave us incorrect information regarding a loan modification. My husband lost his job in 2010 and Chase told us that we qualified for a refinance. At first we were happy to hear that we qualified. However, Chase told us we could only qualify if we missed three months of payments. We explained that we were nervous as we had never missed a payment. They stopped taking the direct payment from our account. We were told that we would not qualify unless we missed the 3 payment, then we started receiving foreclosure letter in the mail, saying that we were behind on payments.
We called several times and each time they told us to ignore the foreclosure letters. Over a period of 9 months and numerous calls to Chase each time we sent documentation we were told that they did not receive. Then they told us they gave us a temporary modification and gave us a lower amount to pay. Then after 9 months they told us we never received any type of modification, it was a complete nightmare, they put us through hell and back. Finally we told them to stop everything as they had reported us to the the 3 credit bureaus, we ending up having to pay thousands in escrow. It was so stressful and awful. Today 4 years later, we are still fighting to get it off our credit report and we never received a modification. Chase is really, really bad.

They had me constantly switched to different "personal representatives" I could never get in touch with. I ended up with payments I cannot afford - 40% of my income. I have a lot of medical expenses and that makes the whole thing a big mess. I ran into a law firm that says they can go back to Chase and get me payment that are $441 to $510 less a month but I think it's a scam. I think I'm screwed. I'm under water so I can't sell because I don't have money to pay to get out of the loan. After reading these blogs, it really hits home that we are the only people Chase is messing up on our mortgage, taxes & escrow. My husband & I are 1st home buyers. Our original loan was through a local mortgage company Fairway Mortgage which eventually sold our mortgage to Chase. Since then it has been a nightmare. They have overcharged us on our escrow account due to the homeowner's insurance was incorrect @ closing. We have since contacted Chase more times than we can count only to be told the same thing - we need to provide the correct declaration on the homeowner's insurance we gave again numerous times.
They finally corrected the insurance premium to reflect on our statement but our payment was never adjusted to reflected the $500 plus difference. We again contacted them in November to be told they had received the correct declaration and that once escrow was generated that the overage would be refunded to us. Unfortunately this did not happen, not only did we not receive a refund but we received a bill saying we owed more on our escrow by $900. After looking, Chase was double paying our county taxes & still did not credit us for the overpayment we had made the last 8 months.
It took my husband numerous calls & demanding to talk to a supervisor to get the taxes straight. Again this was after the 48 hours to 5 days for them to look into it. Chase reran us a new escrow analysis & again it was incorrect. We are again still trying to get our overpayment of the last 8 months corrected as well our corrected mortgage payment. At this point, my husband & I are looking to another lender for peace of mind if Chase hasn't screwed that up as well. I would never recommend this company to anyone not even my worst enemy. My prayers go out to all of you that are living this nightmare with us!

I initially applied to Chase for just a pre-qual but the banker was so confident of getting me the best rates that I blindly believed and thought that my home closing would be a breeze. To say that I was mistaken would be an understatement. Not only did I miss my closing date, it's been 2 weeks as of today and I still do not have any update from the Chase folks as to what the status of my case is.
To put things in perspective, Chase locked my interest rate 50 days before closing and still managed to miss my closing date. To worsen the pain the communication was zero! I had to call/email them repeatedly to get a status on my case and no one bothered to return my calls. When I did get a response it was in the most indifferent manner possible.
I realized on the scheduled day of my closing that I was getting nowhere with Chase and applied through another lender. The other lender (Pulte Mortgage) not only managed to close on my file within 7 working days but the application process with them was the most pleasant that I could expect and a breeze. I would strongly recommend everybody to stay away from Chase Mortgage. It's understandable that a mortgage company can miss on closing date but the treatment meted out to me AFTER they faulted was unbelievable.

I took out a mortgage line of credit with Chase Bank back in 2006. At the time I told them I wanted Disability Insurance to pay the loan off in case I became disabled or died. I made this clear while discussing the loan. The person I talked with assured me that was no problem and the fee would be included in my payments each month. I was never explained anything about the coverage. I assumed they sold me exactly what I asked for because I was never told any different. When I signed the papers I was again assured I had the coverage and no mention of limitations were disclosed to me. I was only told I had the coverage.
After the loan was closed they gave me copies of all the documents and told me I didn't have to read at that time, that I should just sign the documents for the loan and if I had any questions about the paperwork I could ask questions later. I felt pressured to sign or I would not get the loan. I had 2 claims. I think they were in 2009 & 2011. Each was for just a couple of months and they were paid.
In Jan of this year I became totally disabled. I am drawing LTD and have applied for SSD. I turned in a claim with Chase payment assurance and it was denied. The reason given was the policy had a 2 claim limit for disability. I was not sold what I requested. I was not told of any limits in the plan. I was not told about gold, silver, or bronze tiers, only that I had coverage and the fee would be included in my monthly payment. CHASE MISREPRESENTED THE BENEFITS OF THEIR COVERAGE. I also had an auto loan and took out the same insurance. They paid as well. However in 2011 they canceled the coverage and gave me a 100% refund (about $1600.00), telling me they no longer sold that type of coverage. I later found out they were forced to do it by a government agency.
I want to know if I can sue them either personally or thru a class action suit? They did not disclose the limits of the policy, told me I was fully covered when I was not, and I now pay about $30.00 a month on coverage I can not use AND STUCK WITH $300+ PAYMENTS I really can't afford. I am now disabled for the rest of my life and stuck with a payment when I thought I had purchased coverage to pay for in case I ever needed it. Has anyone else had this type of ripoff with Chase Bank payment assurance? What can be done about it?

After 4+ months of hell, this is the text of the email I wrote to my loan processor and her boss: "I am done with this process. You're killing my credit, costing me money, wasting my time, probably losing my personal information, and I have absolutely no faith that you are doing your job to help me and my children stay in our home." Four days later, here was the response I received: "I left you a message to give me a call. I wanted to know if you wanted to continue with the assumption process." And that sums up my entire experience with Chase Bank.
After my divorce July 31 I was given two years to get my ex's name off the house or it would be sold. Chase holds the mortgage, and my local bank recommended an assumption loan. In short, I have provided documents, only to be asked months later to provide them again, I have filled out paperwork, only to be told months later it was filled out incorrectly. They checked my credit twice, the second check resulting in an 18 point drop in my score due to too many inquiries. When I asked if checking my credit multiple times in the process was standard, they blew it off saying "The old score had expired" and then attached a form to the email saying I needed to fill it out yet again and to make sure my address was correct.
I've lived in this home 13 years; I know my address. And after having to supply them repeatedly with multiple copies of the exact same documents, I've asked them three times for an estimate for the loan with lower closing costs, and what have I received? Nothing. Well, 6 months after the clock started ticking on getting the house in my name, I am no closer to getting the assumption loan than I was when I started, but my credit has taken a hit and I wouldn't be surprised if they send me a bill. And I even have to send my "You're fired" email twice.

If you want to spend time writing a letter for every bank transactions and credit reports that is questionable in their terms, then this would be your bank. Before the approval of my loan with Chase, I had to provider a written explanation for every little transaction that happened. When I thought that my explanation is finally over because I got my loan, my lawyer told me that I can't close because my loan was hold up by Chase. So, after my APPROVAL, Chase decided that they need "new" documents and explanations for my bank to bank transfers. Ex: Why did I deposit $1100 into my bank account? It was a bank to bank transfer. I transfer my own money into my own account and they had to question it. I spend the whole night looking at bank statements and write it out for them because they don't look at what they have before they question you. Each time when I think I am done with my explanations, they find something else to ask. DO NOT USE THIS BANK BECAUSE:
2. Require an individual written explanation for every transaction from bank statement/credit reports.
3. Not professional. Do not look at all the documents that were given to them before they question you.
4. Any withdrawals/deposits over $1,000 is considered large sums (Seriously it is not).
5. You will never close on time because they have a new question every day. Somehow, they can't figure out what they want to ask all at once even though the documents never change.
6. Will give you a lot of nightmares and frustrations.
7. They do not offer the best rate. What they have to offer is almost the same as Wells Fargo and TD. The only thing that is somewhat appealing is the 2% cash back but it is NOT WORTH THE trouble.

We were never late or missed a payment but our home was currently under by $160k based on Chase info. My wife was no longer working and I was working and receiving VA Disability. This process went smoothly until we contacted the Home Equity and filed over the phone. We provided all the info we had to file and faxed the rest. We were told since we are in the modification process, we do not have to make a payment. But a week later, we were told we were behind a payment. We explained that we were told not to make a payment and that we used the money to pay off additional bills.
Now we had to rush and find the funds to make the previous payment and the current payment. We had to actually borrow the money from our daughter which was a heartfelt embarrassment for us because she was working, going to school for her Masters. Then the long wait and resending documentation we sent earlier. We were told that we made enough money to cover our principal loan and then we were informed we received a modification for the Home Equity. At first, we were happy until we were told it was approximately $65.00 from $718.00. We were shocked and contact them when we were informed that both the underwriter for both the primary and the Equity felt we had no problems in making our payments so they denied the first loan and took only $65.00 off the second.
My whole issue if we could continue to make the payments with no problems then we would not have applied. We had to cash in some of our IRAs to make ends meet. We were hoping to go to our banks which I have been a member with when they were First Bank. Maybe I need to move all my accounts to a bank is more customer friendly to the needs of the consumer. I do not want to file for Bankruptcy and the only thing the Representatives from Chase bank kept on saying, "Why don't you do a short sale?" I wonder did the Bank say anything when they received all the funds from the government.

I paid to have these documents FedEx to them overnight. My Loan Officer on a weekly basis would send emails informing me all was okay and as soon as she receive the loan from the Underwriting department, she would send over whatever needed to the Lawyer and a closing date would be set up. The ending of November, I contacted the loan officer regarding my process since I noticed that my lock-in rate would expire on 12/24/2013 and I did get a closing date . She said that my loan had to go back to the underwriting department to be corrected because the final figure they had was more than what I owed on my existing mortgage. Last week I was informed that the rate now is different than what was before approved and locked in. I now have to provide recent pay stubs and various documentation.
Reading other reviews I think this is a practice of Chase to delay the process and then offer a higher rate. This is very frustrating as the only reason why I had decided to refinance with Chase was because they are the ones I have my original mortgage with for over 20 years. I have never been late and I am not refinancing a million dollar home. I would never recommend anyone to refinance with Chase Mortgage.

I have spoke to 36 people in the Philippines and 8 managers, 4 presidential level and a exec level relationship manager. Will not remove my PMI even though I have a appraisal showing a 72% LTV. The people answering the phones have no financial literacy once so ever nor do they know about the new laws protecting consumers the Dodd Frank Act has enacted. Servicing is horrendous. They can never get my escrow payment correct and I always end up having a shortage year after year. They never fully explain to me in writing nor via phone why payment changes have been made month after month. They always say give us 48hrs - 5 business days. Call back 5 business later, same answer. Total bad customer service. And long story. Lots of wasted time. Here it goes: Went to a local branch to start and met with Kim ** from Shorewood (originally). Started the Application then did not hear from her for a couple of weeks. Turns out that she moved to the next town of Plainfield. So, finally after two weeks, I go back to my local branch and to my surprise, there is another Mortgage banker by the name of Matt. Matt tells me that if I choose, I can continue with him or wait for Kim. I say to Matt, "You know, Matt, let me attempt one last time to try to see if Kim calls me back because I consider myself loyal." Well no luck trying to get a hold of Kim so I decided to move on with Matt. Well so Matt found my Application and did another credit check and I had a 761. He told me that everything looked good to him but as a courtesy, he would get a 2nd opinion. Well the 2nd opinion came back positive and he took my $655 application fee and moved forward.
Guess what? I did not hear from Matt in 2 weeks so finally Kim calls me back and says that she will be taking back my file and assures me that things will go smooth. (Whatever happen to "Hello, Mr. **, I would like you to meet Matt or Kim. He/she will be taken over your file......" Anyways, we move forward with Kim again. Finally, I get a call from the Processor by the name of Sylvia **. Sylvia introduces herself very professional and tells me that she will be updating me on a weekly basis. Well guess what? Negative on the update weekly. Next, Sylvia tells me that the underwriter came back with a counter offer for me to pay off my truck then we could move forward. So then I get a call from Kim and she says that the loan is ready to close and I ask Kim about the paying off the truck counter offer and she says, "I don't have to do that." So I say, "Ok then let's close the loan." 2 more weeks go by and you're not going to guess what? I get a letter in the mail that says that the loan has expired due to time and me not wanting to accept the counter offer.
As I am trying to tell the whole story, I am trying to be very specific without exaggerating to give all a fair story. So in conclusion, there are just too many people involved and you end up with the wrong story just as in grade school when we would get in a line of about 10 -20 people and one person would say one thing and by the time it got to the 20th person, it was completely something different. The bad thing is that much time has been wasted and my time is very valuable just like yours, Mr. Chase bank. Even if you don't do anything but give me my Application fee back. All I ask is that if you don't like your jobs, please attempt to find something you do like because it's not fare to us customer. I remember when I first started this process, Chase asked me "Why don't you bank with us?"

My homeowner's insurance was due in July after several calls from myself and my insurance company. They were finally paid after my insurance cancelled the policy. Now it is December 28th, still no check for my property taxes which need to be in by the 31st to count on this year's taxes. Yesterday, I was informed they would overnight me a check. Apparently, they were too busy to get to it then and first sent it out this morning. I should get it on Monday, the 30th, and it's my problem if I can't get it to my township on time. I tried to cancel my escrow with them and was told that I could not. Long automated calling. Outsourced customer service. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

I regret buying my present home. Initially I started my loan application through Home Solution Lenders, Inc. mortgage broker. Being a first time home buyer, I did not understand the process; it was the real estate agent that referred me to the mortgage broker. My mortgage went through JP Morgan Chase. On the day of closing the real estate agent called me literally as I was leaving my apartment to the close on the purchase of my current home. The real estate agent said that Chase wanted my mother to also sign the paperwork so she would be on the deed. My mother lives with me and I take care of her so I agreed. Her name is not on the mortgage, only the deed. Apparently Chase was setting me up from the beginning.
I have not had any other issues with Chase until mid November of this year 2013. I received a letter from Chase stating that my mortgage was transferred to a Carrington mortgage co. I have never heard of Carrington. Chase stated that if the mortgage is paid after the 3rd of the month to wait until Carrington sends the information so the mortgage payment will not be lost. This is what I did & now Carrington says they have not received my payment which is not true because the check cleared on December 17th. In the five years that my mortgage has been with Chase I was never late with my payments. I don't understand why Chase sold my mortgage to a collection mortgage agency.
I have read many reviews about customers whose homes have been forced into foreclosure by Carrington & then sold to make a profit. I have never been late with a payment and Carrington is treating me as if I have foreclosed on my mortgage. It has only been 3 weeks that I am with Carrington & I have received negative letters from them & the phone calls have started about late payment. Chase obviously knew this is a collection agency. I am retaining a lawyer to investigate why Chase sold my mortgage to such a company & prevent Carrington from putting me through a foreclosure as is has done to many customers. Beware of your dealings with Chase. Do not use them for a mortgage.

At this time we discovered American Equity Mortgage Company did not release us from the 1st deed of trust and recorded another deed of trust. Therefore they had 2 deeds of trust for the same mortgage. In February 2012, Chase Bank bought the loan. Chase was requested to submit information to the LA County registrar office releasing us from the 1st deed of trust. As of today, we still have 2 deeds of trust recorded for the same loan. Fortunately, we have only paid one mortgage. I found Chase personnel in the mortgage department to be totally indifferent, insolent and totally non-customer service oriented.

My husband and I refinanced our home back in November of 2010 with Surepoint Lending. I asked them if they would be the ones handling our mortgage before submitting the proper paperwork. They said yes, they would be so we moved ahead and got the refinance on our home. Well, to our dismay, we found out in February of 2011 that they sold our mortgage to the highest bidder which was Chase Mortgage! Needless to say, it has been all downhill from there. Our mortgage payments went from being $550.00 a month to $1020.00 a month almost overnight!
For nine months, we made these payments anyway but it became too much as my husband's job started cutting hours and I am disabled so only receive small SS checks each month for income. In November of 2011, we requested a modification loan and that is when the real nightmare has begun for us. We have submitted paperwork upon more paperwork (because they claim to lose some or need updated ones), made pre-modification payments, told it is with underwriters, been to court for foreclosure (judge threw out of court after one year due to lack of evidence on Chase's side), and now being told once again to submit more paperwork.
Oh yeah they are threatening to foreclose on us once more and have "LOST" all but $715.97 of the pre-modification payments we made. And here is the total of pre-modification payments we have made so far: $5213.82. Is there anyone out there that can help us? We refuse to let Chase win!! We will go down fighting for what is ours!!

(In spite of promising a new agent for me, that never happened.) My name is incorrect for one, the amounts charged were incorrect, and extra items were added that I needed to pay off (such as my car loan), that I never knew about until I had to sign the final papers. Instead of the refinance taking a short time as the agent had promised, it took over a month. I never had another agent turned over to my case. So we got attorneys who just took our $10k over almost a year and wanted us to settle for $7500 to move out. These attorneys committed malpractice resulting in $1500 to fix what they did with a new attorney. Chase wanted $64k, but we only owe $46k, so they finally said they would take the $64k, then wouldn't return emails or calls... resulting in another $3k (+ the $3k we had already paid the attorney) and forcing us into summary judgement.

It means we're supposed to be VIPs because our family has considerable deposits with them. This means nothing. Run folks, run. After dealing with the loan process for 40 days, providing mountains of documentation, sometimes the same documents 2, 3, 4 times, our home loan was denied. We were told it was because of a drop in our credit scores during the lengthy loan process. I decided to run my own credit. What did I find out, not only was my credit 60 points higher than quoted on my denial but Chase had run 6 hard inquiries from 2 different branches of the company. They spaced them out over 3 days apart so they all counted. I was essentially denied because of Chase's own inquiries.
My extended denial letter stated several reasons for our denial. None of which was true. They apparently can't add or see the funds that are already deposited in their own bank. They quoted credit "issues" that had already been cleared with their own credit clearing house (Kroll Factual Data). During the course of this loan, I was discouraged from applying elsewhere. I was told by not only the loan officer, but the Senior Lending Manager, that all was okay, my loan was approved, they are just waiting on the file to be released. A simple upload by an underwriter. Then came the denial. They lied. They lied numerous times and no one wants to take responsibility. I had a 60 day escrow. I'm working with another lender and hope to close on time. May not be possible. Bad faith? RUN AWAY!

At this time, my brother became jobless again, so everything stopped. He did not get a lawyer because the BANK told him they would work with him. They lied, and he did not know what lawyer to get, the last 2 took $11000.00 and nothing happened. There is no logic here. People should be more aware of these "acceptable lies" (We work with you, our interest is you as a customer...), so they do not go thinking that these companies are ethical and working with integrity. We started our refinance process with Chase back in early May. It was a huge mistake. It is now October 22 and they are still requesting more documentation before they will close with us.
We completed the initial paperwork rather easily and were verbally promised a great interest rate. Of course, we found out when we received the loan paperwork, that the interest rate wasn't quite as high as the verbal we were quoted, but we chose to let that go, since we had no proof of the verbal quote. We were then assigned 2 different representatives to handle our case. After a few weeks, one of those representatives was replaced by a different rep. This second new rep often made mistakes in dealing with our case by asking for wrong or incomplete information, then we later had to send the correct info once the mistake was realized. At this point, I have scanned and sent in about 25 separate documents which were requested by Chase in this refinance process. They are now asking for a great deal more.
We recently found out they had to make a second hard inquiry on our credit report because the first one expired before they could complete the process. Of course, hard inquiries negatively impact your credit score, but we're forced to suffer that consequence due to their negligence. We also recently found out that our home's appraisal now has to be updated, so we have to make arrangements to be home from work and allow an appraiser to return to our property to update his report.
I'm beginning to suspect that Chase has intentionally dragged out this process because they know they will receive our mortgage payment at the higher interest rate for as long as they can drag this on. According to my research, a refinance should take 30-45 days. Because ours has gone on for 6 months so far, and given the approximate savings we were due to receive once we closed, I estimate Chase has cost my family a little over $2000.00 in unrealized interest savings.
You can see now why I suspect their actions may have been intentional. If they have used these same delay tactics with other prospective refinance customers, couldn't they have made millions, perhaps even billions? It's something for me to think about as Chase continues to ask for more and more documentation to delay closing, and as I consider whether I should cut my losses and start again with a more reputable institution.
My advice to any and all who will listen - don't do business with Chase Bank. You will regret it in the long run.

I bought my home July 2009 and did really well with my mortgage payment until some health issues arose and I was not able to keep up with the exact amount on my loan. Chase suggested loan modification in August 2012. I went through the process (a large amount of paperwork) and received a response in October 2012 to not make my payments November and December and then come January, February, and March they gave me a payment that was approximately $300 less. I was told to make sure I was never late. I paid those mortgage payments on the first of every month. When April was due I wrote the check for the same amount as the last three months and was told that I had not been approved for a loan modification and would have to start the process all over again. I was frustrated but I did what was asked of me.
Once again the letter states to not make any payments while the modification is being looked at (the fine print states that it is highly recommended that you do but it isn't something that is visible). I made sure I provided EVERYTHING on that checklist, checked it twice. Once again they tell me that I didn't provide enough information and if I want to save my home I have to pay them $6,000 and on top of my regular payment I have to pay $300+ extra. When I told them it was impossible they stated that it would go into foreclosure status. A week later my son saw our home in the newspaper stating an auction date. I was in shock.
Two weeks later I received the certified letter telling me that my home would be advertised in the paper. I think it was awful of them to let me find out about my home through a newspaper. I went to the auction today and it did not sell. They were willing to sell my home for $40,000 less than what I owed on the property. Does that make any sense to anyone? Why not work with me over $6,000 and allow me to stay in my home? For anyone out there who is thinking that loan modifications are a way to help you please know that I've been doing a lot of reading since all of this took place and I don't see anything positive or even a success story. My dad wanted to help me buy a house so we applied together. He owns a lot of properties, 9, to be exact, so he is used to dealing with lenders and mortgages. Or so he thought. We were pre-qualified for a $360,000 house with $100,000 down. I already knew the house I was applying for. It's our neighbors'. They wanted to sell but were not ready to leave the neighborhood for another year when his wife retires. They needed money for their new house, so we agreed to a price and he would rent a house for a year and use that money for his country home. We signed a contract as Chase Bank required. We also paid for a home inspection, an appraisal, a survey, a fee to secure the APR, an option out payment for the seller as well as the earnest money to the title company. Our out of pocket fees so far are in excess to almost $3000.00.
We were assured that the loan approval process would take no longer than 30 days. We were pre-qualified on 8/9/13. The closing date was scheduled for 9/17/13. Plenty of time, right?? We submitted all the documents that were asked for. Then asked for several of the same documents again. Why? I'm assuming they did not want to have to go through the pile of paperwork from my dad. He owns 9 homes. So, he has done his mortgage thing a time or two. BTW... he owes less than $60,000 on all of those 9 homes which total to over a million dollars worth of property. It finally went to underwriting. 2 weeks later, we get an email saying the approval is on hold until we provide 6 listed conditions. We received this email late on a Friday evening. We provided those conditions the following Monday morning. Some of the conditions were simple lox and some were more copies of paperwork we had already provided. We get another email a week later with another list of about 12 conditions.
One of those conditions was to provide documents that a judgement on my credit had been satisfied. I did not know about a judgement on my credit. We were applying for an FHA loan. Apparently, new rules had been set in July of this year that any judgement had to be in the process of being paid or completely satisfied or the loan could not proceed. We are a month into this thing now. Why is this all make it or break it issue just now coming up? Why didn't they mention this in the first set of conditions? I jumped through hoops contacting the creditor about satisfying this judgement. They were very understanding and agreed on a lower settlement price. Probably because I was not notified about a court date and they filed suit beyond the 4-year statute of limitations we have in Texas.
This was on a car loan from 2002. I had lost a job that I had after 10 years and it devastated me financially. It showed as a charge off on my credit in previous years. ANYWAY (wanted to explain that a little), we had invested so much of our savings into the down payment and budgeted everything for this, the move. We did not budget in a judgement amount because I didn't know about it. I had to sell personal property that I didn't want to sell to come up with this extra money.
So.....here were are 9/13. We are "supposed" to close on 9/17. I go to the mailbox tonight and see a presorted first class envelope from Chase. My stomach drops. Why, you ask? It's presorted first class mail, normally what I would call "junk mail". But, I have have learned a lot in the last month about Chase Bank's practices. I open the envelope to find a letter from the loan processor. The letter opens with a thank you for choosing them note. That they are "committed to making our home financing experience a positive one through clear communication and dedicated service from a team of mortgage professionals". I am almost laughing at the irony in the first paragraph of the letter. Almost laughing.
Then it proceeds to they will not be able to continue with the loan process until conditions are met which are listed on the next page. Here is the kicker! There is a deadline date. The deadline date is 9/13/13, the day we received the letter. The date on the letter is 8/30/13, two weeks prior to when I get this letter. The conditions on the next page are a combination of the 2 separate emails of conditions required by the underwriter. Luckily, I jumped through hoops with this judgement thing just to get it done as soon as I possibly could. Which means, I turned it in on 9/13/13.
1st-Why didn't we get these conditions in the first email if they knew about it? This delayed the process another week. 2nd- Why did they send a time sensitive letter in a presorted first class mail envelope. I called my dad and he received this letter today as well, so we can't blame the post office, can we? 3rd- I didn't know about a deadline date. Why didn't we receive a phone call or email about it? Or...at the very least, send the envelope in the mail in a decent amount of time after the letter was created in a regular envelope so that the recipient of the the letter didn't just disregard it as "junk mail".
Now...we turned in our notice to our landlord stating we will be out of the rental house by 10/1/13. The sellers have rented another house to live in for the next year so they can build their country home, we are living out of boxes, and I get to spend my weekend with my stomach in knots wondering if they are going to claim they still don't have everything in that list. Which means they will cancel the loan application and we will have to start all over. This also means we will have to incur hotel charges as well because we have to be out of our rented house by 10/1/13 if Chase Bank pulls the same crap that they have pulled over and over again in this application process. I will NEVER do business with them again. My measly money means nothing, but they will lose my dad's business as well. THAT will be a loss for them. He is a wonderful man with a good and understanding heart. He has the patience of an angel but even he is thoroughly fed up!

In May of 2013, we were notified our escrow account was short by $4,000. This would increase our mortgage by $300 a month. When I called, they told me my homeowners insurance went up and my taxes went up. I checked with the insurance company who told me my premium did go up $20 a year. The town taxes did not go up. I called back to Chase and spoke to a different person. They said they would open a "work order". They did not do anything. Every time I call Chase, I get a different person who does not understand what I am talking about. I came to find out Chase had mistakenly paid my taxes a year and a half causing this shortage. They still will not admit their mistake. I am still trying to get through to someone there who understands what is going on and drop these excessive charges. Bottom line, do not use Chase for a mortgage company.

I am writing a complaint against Chase due to:
2) Refusing to reimburse my mortgage application fee of $655.00.
June of this year, I applied for a loan to buy a house in Seattle area. I spoke with loan consultant Chuck ** in person. He requested an application fee of $655.00 for which I wrote a check. Prior to writing the check, I asked Chuck if I would get reimbursed if I decided to go with another bank. He said, Chase would return the money if I did not go through (sign the paperwork) with the loan. Fast forward, we found the house. Chase requested additional information, which I provided. They sent an appraiser out. Chase then asked for further information as well as explanation. Again I provided the requested materials. I have an excellent credit score, over 800, and have never been questioned this way before.
I expressed my disappointment to Chuck about this. I told him if there is going to be a problem with the loan, he needed to let me know right away so I can seek another financial institution in time to close the loan by August 14, 2013. Chuck said he would send the paperwork through. One week went by and I thought everything was fine. I then got a call from Chuck requesting still more documentation. The following day, I dropped off the requested information to him. Chuck told me he has been doing loans for over 10 years, and he could guarantee underwriter would have more questions. At this point, we were 3 weeks away from closing, so I told Chuck that he/they are giving me a hard time and reiterated that if there is a problem, I would need to seek a loan elsewhere. He didn't give me any promises, but said underwriter would review.
Not wanting to lose the house, I secured a loan through another bank. Two days later (July 8), I called and left a message for Chuck canceling my loan application because Chase, my own bank, is giving me so much difficulty. I didn't like being treated that way. Also I asked him to call me back regarding reimbursement of my application fee of $655.00. Chuck did not call me back. About 1 1/2 weeks later, I placed another call to Chuck, again leaving a message. Again, no call back. I called his manager Brent ** and left a message and received no call from Brent either so I called him again. Finally got hold of Brent who said Chuck did talk to him about my loan application fee. He said he would look into it then call me back within 24 hrs. To this day, I have heard nothing from Brent.
On August 13, I called Chuck again, leaving a detailed message with his co-worker. Chuck emailed me back the same day. Even though he knew the reason of my call, his email simply said: "Sorry I've missed your calls. How can I help today?" I replied back right away letting him know I needed to know when they were going to reimburse my money. There was no response. I called Chuck again and he said he would have his manager Brent call me back. I felt it was strange he did not discuss the reimbursement process to me. I probed the question. Chuck said he does not handle it so therefore does not know. Said he would make sure Brent would call me back.
I closed on the house August 14 with the loan from the other bank. Today is September 11, neither Brent nor Chuck have called me. I stopped by Chase branch today and talked to Chuck. Chuck texted back and forth with Brent then said Brent would call me back. I told him I need to talk to someone who handles the reimbursement. Chuck said normally, 'IF' I would get reimbursed I would be sent a white envelope in 6 weeks but he did not know where it would be sent from. I said, "What do you mean IF? You told me, if we did not go through the loan, Chase would reimburse me." He said, I know what I said. He continued that I had instigated the loan and I had canceled the loan so he does not know if I would be reimbursed.
I could not believe that a big bank like Chase could blatantly lie to their customer like that. I reminded him that he has never said anything like that before. He clearly told me and he again agreed to what he said that if I were not going to sign loan papers then Chase would reimburse my application fee. I can not understand how unprofessional Chase has been. Their lack of communication is not acceptable. Their actions are those of scam artists. Took the money and ran. I am hoping you can look in this matter for me.

My name is Lori and I, along with many other of Chase victims, want restitution for crimes that we feel have been done to us by JP Morgan Chase Bank. I have had an ongoing dispute with a merchant in my state (an auto body repair shop) for not doing a good repair job with our car. Chase was my bank card in this dispute (course one would never know it). Because every opportunity for dispute was given to the merchant back and forth for many months (Mind you, I had to beg to know anything on my own dispute), so much so that the merchant had plenty of time to lawyer up. The merchant first sent in one-chicken scratch note on a worn-out invoice and the wrong credit card name for us and wrong credit card number. He had nothing to show we even paid him with our Chase Credit Card.
After five weeks & 3 days (from my initial dispute date of June 13th), I finally received a letter in the mail to send Chase our dispute proof. I sent in my long letter with details and all dates (as best I could remember for not one but two more opportunities we gave the auto body shop to work on our car and get all issues corrected). Only the body shop kept messing up our car even more than the first time he worked on it. I sent in pictures, then scanned pictures as they required only paper copies, a USB drive with files of all angles of the passenger side damage he did to the auto body repair job. Also not one but two other letters written by legitimate Auto body repair shops documenting they have seen our car and the poor job the other auto body shop did and what they would recommend be done to fix the car to its original state.
Now through this whole dispute ordeal, I have felt like I was arguing more with Chase (than I ever was with the merchant). Why, who knows? Chase employees might be trained to act like they care and give the customer the famous line of, "We're working for you". No, you weren't. Every step of the way Chase, you were going behind my back to allow the merchant tons of time to lawyer up. Tons of opportunities for him to fight the dispute at hand (yet he gave you nothing but a lawyer letter saying the car was never brought back to him). Funny, phone calls can prove a lot, that we talked to him for months, yet you never asked for our proof of this, hmm? The merchant got five weeks after my first call to dispute the charge. Yet, I got 10 days to get a dispute into Chase for my case (with lies too of where to mail dispute, a letter taped to the Chase envelope with a dispute address and fax #, that we didn't see at first because it was taped to the inside of the envelope we threw out; what business tapes a letter to the inside of a mailing envelope)?
Chase does (so consumers, check those envelopes). Every step of the way, Supervisors (Thomas ** and Cassandra) didn't supply me with correct information or any information I'd ask of them by way of mail, phone calls or email. Many lies too along the way (too many to mention in this small box). Also a Chase Advocacy Executive named Jenalyn - all of about accused us of damaging our car after we picked it up the first time from the auto body shop. She stated that perhaps we had a second accident with it, so we could accuse this auto body store of damage and get funds, our $1,900, back with a chargeback. Say what? Our car has more value than to do such a thing to it and create an accident in the same areas of the disputed pictures and same areas of the body of the car?
Wow, that's stretching it. Plus how did we create holograms, white cloudy areas and small, med, and large scratches throughout the passenger body of our car. How did we repair it again with door shells and hang doors unevenly by ourselves? This woman was insane and so very rude of a representative for such a high level position at Chase Bank. So today was a real bad day. I have spent countless hours researching what advocacy groups are out there to help me, what Government agencies I can complain to, researching lawyers to maybe hire, writing Attorney General in my area. Time spent on the phone endlessly. All to realize my sister was trying to reach me by email and phone. But, I changed my email last month because I was using Road Runner and went to DSL and was on my phone a lot.
When my sister finally did reach me, it was to tell me my 87-year-old Mother had a heart attack. That she was in the hospital for a few days and now back at the nursing home. But, will be going into hospice care soon when they can move her. She's on oxygen and with a DNR order (do not resuscitate). This is where you, Chase, come in. I will never forgive the people directly involved with this dispute. You're a horrible bank and horrible people working for you. I may never be able to have my Mother understand me, let alone know I'm there and I have you to blame for this. I have one Mom in this lifetime and instead I spent my days fighting this stupid dispute. But, not with the merchant, with you as my freaking Bank CHASE!
I hope all of you rot in hell for eternity! All of you and all of you know who you are. Chase, shape up your act as a Giant money hunger grubbing entity that swallows others up whole. Stop doing all these devious banking practices not only to the little guy. But, for God's sake to everyone. How much money is enough for you bankers. It's true what I read, American workers bailed many banks out with our wages and taxes and then you treat the public and customers like **. You will never have my forgiveness for putting me through all these things and I can only hope God does see all these bad things you're doing and brings you all to justice for all Americans to have satisfaction for the day you fail and meet the Lawyers to bring you down! You greedy **.

Do yourself a favor... Walk away from these liars, uninformed, non-customer, arrogant people as soon as possible. They state you are preapproved... Don"t believe it. They ask for information totally unrelated to a mortgage. They ask for you to send info they received already, but can't find it. You are told that you have been approved, but no closing package arrives at the title company. Then all of a sudden... there is a problem... again asking for information. You call them to clear things up.... Oh but they don't answer the phone. You get voice mail. You leave messages... Oh, they don't call back. You send emails asking status.... Oh they don't email you back. By the way, they can't be bothered by under $100K loans. If you apply for under $100K you will pay close to a full percentage more regardless of credit. When you call a manager because you are not getting responses, you are insulted about who has inquired on your credit record. Should I go on? You get the picture. WALK AWAY.

We have a mortgage with Chase as a result of our prior lender selling our loan. They have all of our information. They contacted us to refinance at a lower rate and guaranteed no closing costs. I was explicitly told I would only have to bring the interest cost for the month of my closing. In my case it would be around $1,320. My escrow account was up to date. There are no points or other closing costs in this loan as promised by the lender. After going through the process, I receive a call from a loan processor. He states that I need to bring to the table $6,050. Now this is not the first time I financed and I am an accountant. The garbage he fed me as to why the amount was so large did not make sense nor did the numbers add up.
By law, they are allowed 1/6 of your annual escrow payments as a cushion. They were requesting above and beyond that amount. Since they are the same institution, this is not an issue of transferring escrow balances to another bank, which does not happen. It is the same bank. According to my calculations, if I were to pay 1/6 of the annual escrow amount along with a tax payment that is due on October 1st minus the escrow balance they should refund, I should come to the table with $1,459. This is if they put the first month's interest into the mortgage, which he said he would. If I pay that interest up front along with the escrow cushion, it comes out to $2,779. The $6,000 is pure extortion. I sent an email to my contact and his manager. No one has gotten back to me. It is apparent that they are intentionally trying to have the 72-hour cancellation period expire. The real problem, I believe, is that the people handling this process are uneducated and are using English as a second language. It adds to confusion. Never again... I will go elsewhere!

Chase Mortgage is not a company. It's more like we put our head between our legs and kissed our money and ** goodbye!! We have those Intent to Foreclose papers and 1 year and 5 months later owe $15,000 to a mortgage company that you can't ever get a hold of and we sent in all the papers for a loan modification and of course it was denied. How is that? Explain that to me!?! Tell me really what are you going to do with all the houses that are sitting empty and rotting with the grass as high as the house when families could still be in their homes paying a lower monthly payment and taking care of the property they live on! Are you really that hard up to cause more fraud? The last time I looked, I live in America and you do have the right for help when you need it. Isn't that what a loan modification is for help lowering your payments? Sounds like we are just getting screwed.
My husband is out of work and I'm the only one working that doesn't pay everything. Then on top of everything, we can either sell or foreclose. WTH kind of decision is that. Somebody needs to pull their head out of their ** and wake up! How can you seriously lose so much paperwork? We've done everything asked. The least you can do is your part and give the modifications that you're supposed to give. It's nice to know that the company you're supposed to trust in can take the money you already paid in and then screw you on it!

My spouse and I were married for 22 years and ultimately started divorce proceedings. Both of us bank with Chase Bank and I got the brilliant idea to refinance the house. My lawyer informed me that the courts would order the refinance of the house to decouple my and my soon-to-be-ex spouse's finances. Fine. I went to Chase because I have a healthy amount of money warehoused there; enough to clear my current mortgage without any problems. The loan officer was great and took the application with no problems. She even got me to apply for a home equity line of credit (HELOC) because the closing costs for the HELOC would be significantly less when it is piggybacked with a mortgage. The amount that I was refinancing was so little and the HELOC would let me pay for college tuition/expenses for my children and the interest rates were comparable to student loans.
I received contingent approval of the loan within 1 week and thought that this would be easy. When I applied, I had tax returns for the 2 previous years including my W-2 and 1099 statements along with 3 recent pay stubs. I also had a copy of my current mortgage statement with the outstanding principal and what was being escrowed for taxes and insurance. After the front office got the information, they sent it off to loan processing and that's when the roller coaster ride started. I misunderstood the divorce laws in the the state that I filed for. It turned out that I wouldn't get my final decree within 90 days.
First of all, Chase messed up my HELOC and blamed the loan officer to putting in the paperwork incorrect. Instead of a $50K HELOC, they decided that I wanted a $50,000 30-year fix loan at 7.8%, which was 40% higher than the mortgage. Really thing for anyone to do. I told them I didn't want that loan. The loan processing was so slow, the pay stubs were no longer valid. They kept asking for pay stubs. It turned out that the underwriter declined my mortgage application because of title issues instead of working with me about how to resolve them; had I known that the underwriters had declined, I would have pulled the plug on the loan. It is my hypothesis that they just wanted to keep me dangling. My lawyer came up with court order that would let me continue. But so far, they have asked for the Declaration Page of my home owner's insurance policy, more pay stub, a copy of the Revocable Trust that the house is deeded to. I explained that the lawyer could do a Q/C deed to pull it out of the trust, but that wasn't good enough.
The documentation that they continued to ask for include a court signed order allocating the property to my sole ownership, Q/C Deed, a "Without Collection" document that is signed and notarized, and more pay stubs. I guess they are afraid that I don't have a job because they treat me like I don't have a brain. My two favorites were the alias and the credit inquiry affidavits that they had me explain. First of all, my name is hard to spell and lots of financial institutions take liberties. I was pissed off that I informed Chase that American banking institutions were stupid and can't spell names that are block printed on applications and make assumption and assign nicknames. But all the credit inquiries were made by Chase, themselves - one for increasing my credit limit on my Chase VISA card and one for the mortgage application. Hello, wake up Chase!
My spouse's mortgage broker is only asking for a Disclaimer Deed that is signed by me. I may not get all the documentation that they need before my rate lock expires. If that occurs, it is my intention to walk away from the mortgage application. I don't want that. I will be in the market for a new bank at point. My friends have recommended that I use Costco Mortgage Services because the rates are so much better and the closing costs are so much less.
The lessons learned from my experience is to never apply for a Chase mortgage. I can't keep banks from selling my mortgage to them, but if I should have to refinance my home again, I definitely will never, never, never use Chase Mortgage. The poor individuals in the bank branch were sympathetic and they do provide good customer service; however, I would only recommend Chase Mortgage if I were going through menopause and in an extremely sadistic mood.

I don't know where to even start. Chase has put me through so much in the 3 to 4 years I've been trying to deal with them. The mental stress and anguish I've had to deal with beyond comprehension to me. I've tried to in acting as my father's P.O.A. and state awarded Guardian of my mother's to deal with Chase over my mother and father's home. They've had me on a hook ever since, jumping through hoops at their beckon call to give them documentation to authorize them to speak to about the house. But they could never get me on the account so 2 years of faxing paper work, proper documents to them and none ever being posted to the account so that when I call in anyone could find them to speak to me. It got so bad at one point they wanted to take me though a modification process then turned it around on me to try and get me to do a quick deed on the house to deal with it which was illegal for me to do so but they wouldn't let it go.
I did find a lawyer who was able to go b4 the court and find a way to get the house in my name for a 1000 dollars at that time it only took 15 days to deny me the modification and schedule a sale of the house though the state. Chase Bank let this situation go to the point to foreclose on the home when if they would have handled this situation with me as my parent's legal rep in the beginning I might have been able to find a way to keep the home but I don't think they really wanted to work with me knowing that my parents could not deal with them. I believe they just wanted to take the property and for y I don't know. My parents had always made their home payment before the home was refi'd with Chase. I wish I had not picked Chase for the refi, it's my biggest mistake to think that a bigger bank cared more for its customer base than a small one. I feel so stupid for dealing with them. They have dragged me through so much in the past years making me think they were working with when they were buying their time to take the house at just the right time.
There's way too many things to say about this since I've done so much to do what they wanted done for over 3 years and this is a VA loan. My father was a vet, I am a vet and there's no program in place that Chase says I qualify for. Well thx Obama too huh. I am hoping this will help set the way other people look at dealing with Chase in the future because they could give a damn least about anyone that doesn't have a million dollar bank account with them. Normal people will always get the rawest deal they can provide just so they can continue to grow way to step on and over the little people that helped to make this Bank too big for us now.

We decided to refinance with Chase since we had the loan with Chase already. What a nightmare it has been. My wife and I both are physicians, have accounts with Chase, perfect credit score, never been late with any payments and we have 80% equity. They kept delaying the loan, asking for papers, all of which we send by email and fax. They kept delaying saying they never received that specific paper. I would send it again and then something else. Chase supposedly cannot receive emails larger than 15 Gb and that's the reason that supposedly they did not receive the copy of the taxes. I faxed page by page myself the taxes and they still kept denying it. Finally they said it's approved and you keep calling and emailing them and they do not answer. I have records of all the mails and faxes and phone calls and we are sending a letter to our senator to investigate Chase. If they do this to us, I could not imagine what they do to people with no education or else. Two years ago, we refinance with Lending Tree (after the new rules) and it took them 30 days. They sold the loan to Chase and that's why I have the current loan with them.
Please do not use Chase.

So where are the personal, confidential documents we have sent? Chase was our original mortgage co., so when they sent the letter about refinance, I assumed this would be the easiest course to take. I was denied several times for a modification based on the agents failing to provide me directions on required documentation. However the final straw was that I owe them $37,000.00 in delinquent mtg payments, PAID $22,000.00 (they applied it to my principal not my delinquent amount) and was still denied a modification. No one ever informed me that the $22,000.00 would be applied to my principal. It was always stated by their staff and management that once the funds were received this would be applied to my delinquent balance and assist with getting my modification approved. The kicker is that I had to inquire about the $22,000.00 and how it was applied, several agents stated that the funds should have been applied to my delinquent balance and submitted the request for the correction.
Now after two weeks and no follow up everyone seems to have a blank stare when I inquire about the correction and refuse to assist me at this point. They even had the nerve to say I need to place half of the delinquency down in order to qualify for a workout plan. Ummm NO, not going to happen when you have my $22,000.00. In 12/2009, I found out that my full-time medical transcription job was going to be fading out as the office started electronic medical records. I immediately contacted Chase to tell them what was going to be happening so we could get help somehow so we didn't get to the ridiculous spot we are now. We were told about the HAMP program where we could get a modification for our mortgage, probably about $500 less a month for our payment. I was thrilled.
Immediately sent all the required paperwork in. We are now here in 8/2013 and I still am in my house. We have applied for a modification at least 15 times. They lose paperwork, they misplace paperwork, they fart around until your paperwork is "expired" and you have to file again. You call (because they NEVER call you to let you know what is going on) so you call and every single person you speak with there tells you something completely different so you really have NO idea what is going on. You try and try and try to get help from congressmen, senators, news stations, lawyers, etc., they can't even get through to Chase.
Chase doesn't care. Lawyers have actually told us that hiring them would be a waste of money because nothing would come from it. Finally, now that we are so far behind, only the lottery could catch us up. We are waiting to be approved for a short sale (we were told we were approved over a month ago but they have waited so long to act on it, the paperwork is expired again so here we go again!) Let me tell you, that's just as bad. Just last night, I found out that the paperwork that we sent in and that our realtor sent in is "expired" and so I sent in all the necessary paperwork again and we are starting over with our short sale. Our buyer wanted a tentative settlement in 8/30/13.
On 7/1/13, our file was supposed to be going to a negotiator. Nope, not now. Now we are starting all over again - AGAIN. The mental anguish this all has cause is beyond repair. They are truly incompetent, every last one of them. My husband asked to talk to Jamie Dimon once, and he was told that he doesn't have a phone in his office! So I have no idea what they are going to do. For comedic relief, I will tell you that on 7/12/2013, they sent us a letter stating that they needed more information, yet the space where they would put what they needed was blank, so I called to see what it meant. No one could answer that question.
Until two weeks later, when our realtor called for an update and he was told that we were put on hold because we failed to send in the necessary documents. I called to see what that meant. They said "we sent you a letter dated 7/12/2013 that told you to mail in thus and such". I quickly read them the letter we have and they couldn't say a word. They still didn't realize their stupidity. And when I say "well last time I called, so and so told me ..." That person will say, "Well I have nothing to do with what she or he said. I just know this is what you need to do." So here we go again. We have to get out of this home and leave this behind so we can start rebuilding our lives.
Since 12/2009, we have spoken to over 100 people. I have all names, dates and content of conversations. They just don't care. It's not their home or livelihood. It's a nightmare. I feel I could live in this house another 5 years and they still couldn't have their act together to get us out of this home. I would gladly have them just come and take it so this would be over.

This was not a problem, we were getting into trouble. I still have not gotten help. I get the run around and never get anywhere. Every person I talk with has a different answer. Now they want to foreclose and we are finally back on our feet and able to pay. Now the answer is I have to come up with all the back money owed and I now make too much money. I cannot seem to win. I asked Chase Mortgage to close my loan refinance application after 2 1/2 months of agony. The initial loan officer I dealt with was professional and competent, but he quit the company and bad things started to happen to my loan process. I must concede quitting Chase Mortgage was a wise career move on the initial loan officer's part. The subsequent loan officer, a rookie, misinterpreted the terms of my refinance loan and was not able to make any decisions on his part save to impart bad news to me. Time after time, I was asked for more and more information purportedly to feed the underwriter's unquenchable thirst for data, much of it personal in nature.
After a while, exhaustion on my part set in and I grew distrustful of the people at Chase Mortgage. When they reneged on my expectation of rolling the closing costs into the loan, I gave up and hung up on Chase Mortgage. Every email correspondence from Chase Mortgage ends with the postscript "If you are not 100% satisfied with my service or your experience with Chase at any time, please let me or my manager know right away." Well, I told them many times that I was not satisfied and I copied the email sender's manager. This effort was in vain. So, take my advice. AVOID CHASE MORTGAGE at all costs - they will suck up your energy and time, and they cannot provide good service or act as your advocate with the underwriters.

Chase's underwriting team is by FAR the worst! They dragged their feet on everything, constantly keep asking for things AFTER they have been sent to them, and even 72 hours before closing STILL requesting new things even though they have had the file for over 60 days! Then, there is a FRAUD ALERT on our credit (which you are allowed to have to protect yourself!) and Chase REQUIRED us to not only remove it (again, 72 hours before closing) BUT they did ANOTHER hard inquiry to make sure it was erased dropping our credit rating AGAIN. The VA even said they didn't need it but some underwriter within Chase made it a condition and the VA rep AND our Mortgage Lender at Chase spent HOURS trying to get their own COMPANY to accept a 3rd party verification.
WORST company EVER OUT THERE!!!!! They missed their own deadlines, REQUIRED ME to use them for Pre-Qual and forced me to switch since it was a foreclosure. At least with the devil you know without a shadow of a doubt that you will lose. With Chase, they tell you one thing and then do something completely different. They do everything possible to make sure that once their name in on an account, you as the customer have no more rights to anything. There is no one within the regulating authorities that cares and JP Morgan Chase is given free reign to do whatever they want whenever they want with no recourse. Be afraid, be very afraid - or better yet just don't do any business with them whatsoever. If your home loan was sold to them, get it refinanced ASAP by someone else. The home went to sheriff's sale July 13 2010 and didn't sell. I was told I had to wait three years from the date of the sheriffs sale. Now in July 2013 we applied for a mortgage and the agent checked the CAIVRS report (through Hud). I called Hud and asked why it took so long to report a claim. They said they have no idea, "most of the time the thirty days after the sale date". So I called Chase mortgage and asked why it took so long to file the claim and they said "Chase makes claims as they see fit". I asked him if his estimator was accurate, to which he replied yes, and he would apply for the loan if he were in my shoes. He charged me an application and appraisal fee of $475. When all the paperwork and actual appraisal got through, I did not hear from Chase for almost two weeks. I then contacted them requesting an update. The representative told me that my application was rejected - didn't the loan officer contact you? I tried repeatedly to contact the loan officer, but he ignored all my emails and voicemails. Finally, I filed a formal complaint and got through to the officer's manager, which eventually resulted in the loan officer giving me a call. He explained that foreclosures in the area brought the appraised value of my property way, way down. I asked him if his estimator was supposed to detect foreclosures and take them into account in the estimated value - and he replied, yes!
I did get a written promise from Chase that my $475 would be refunded (but I am watching my CC closely as I don't trust them even on this). Note that the refund was granted because I complained - if not, the charge would have remained. However, I lost $275 as an out of pocket expense for some condo certification that Chase required. If they had simply bothered to do the appraisal first before the certification, they would have saved me the pain, but what do they care - they are basically a scam to make a quick buck out of needy homeowners. )-; Buyer, you have been warned. I believe God exists and God will make them pay. I had started a loan modification with Regions Bank on my other apartment and it did not take more than 60 days and, as of today, I'm current on my mortgage because of that modification. They kept on delaying and delaying until the seller was pissed and charged for per diem $100. In the end, they did not approve the loan. It took over two months to have them tell us that the loan was not going to get approved. We had the property appraisal by them. I guess they don't want to pay for the per diem; that's why they denied the loan.
Why did they give pre-approval letter in the first place and deny in the end? Chase was one of the worst company I had dealt with. Their workers were a bunch of useless and ignorant. They drop the ball; the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, etc. I have turned in all that they have requested, when they wanted it, and in a timely manner every time. They later admit they were at fault. Yet they won't take responsibility and tell you to apply to start again!
Are you kidding me? How do they get away with this? I believe this is a big joke to them and that they have no intention of helping. I believe they are just going through the motions. This last time, I got all kinds of conflicting stories. I got a letter saying I didn't turn things in, in time. Today, her reason on the phone was that I didn't turn in something they wanted - a total lie. They never asked what they said they requested. You wouldn't believe the stories I get from these people and they have nothing to prove me wrong. The last person who was collecting docs from me suddenly disappeared with no notice. For days I heard nothing. I later get a letter saying I have been denied. I call her and she said, "Oh no, I don't know what happened. I have been out sick." Then some other lady's reason for this person not responding to me was because the person on my case (who was supposedly sick) isn't calling me back because she has been promoted to a different department? So which is it? And are you kidding? I am in jeopardy of losing my home of over 21 years and Chase treats this like it's just another day's work and no big deal that they are taking this so lightly and not getting things processed correctly. Then I would turn in paperwork and week after week they would need more and more information from me. Every time this happened, the fees would go up little by little. This dragged on for 3 months. Then I was told to make my May payment and the loan would go through in a couple of weeks, but that I could skip my June payment and make a payment with my new loan in July. I wanted to refinance my mortgage at a lower interest rate and spoke with a Chase rep beginning of March 2013. Interest rate at that point was 3.87. Perfect! I submitted all the documents they asked for and was given a closing date of April 22, 2013. Now it is July and I had to walk away. They pushed my closing dates back several times. Told me not to make my mortgage payments the month we're closing, which I still did, but took the penalty hit for the late payments. I had to re-sign documents and then pay my homeowner's insurance before the due date of June 25 or they would not close the loan. I contacted my current mortgage lender. They cut the check from my escrow account and made the payment. More delays came and they just blamed the underwriters.
When it did come time to close, the paperwork was all wrong. I lost the interest rate because of all the delays. They tacked on several costs at my expense to delay the process and jacked the interest rate up to 4.6%. The promises that were made to me originally were not honored. My rep told me the manager that originally approved things with my loan had quit and the new manager in charge of that department would not honor his promises. It is beyond upsetting that I had to pay the late fees for late payments and I just lost out on the 3.87 interest rate for good because of all the delays.
Clearly, they do not understand what that just cost my family each month in payments in the long run and how to do a simple refinance loan. Disgusted that they wasted my time. If I would have chosen a different lender, I'm sure this would have ended much differently.

At the point where you send the additional information, they do not respond, haven't received it and send you the original name change kit. I heard that Chase Mortgage will give the runaround on adding names. As a result, they will not talk to me as a result of no name change kit. So I sold my home and paid the last mortgage on 6/1 electronically through the bank. They will not talk to me, nor a third party, the bank, but they are more than happy to have received my payments from me via the bank, 'the third party' with no problem.
Essentially, the bank, Wells Fargo, says they tried to contact Chase with the proof of payment, but Chase says it "may not issue a refund check to a third party (the bank)." Therefore, if they don't refund my money, they will have kept a duplicate mortgage payment with full knowledge. That remains to be seen. Regardless, they've put me through hell since my husband passed away, because I am allowed to pay for property that's legally mine, but they set it up so I can't talk to them or be on the loan.

Today, Chase Mortgage Department called and informed us that there was interest of $135.00 and a NEW mortgage recording fee of $40 due before the account could be closed. Chase is the third bank to own the same mortgage, on which all recording fees were charged upfront by the original bank. This fee was already covered when we took out the mortgage. I protested to Chase in vain.
In addition, the check was mailed to Chase nearly three weeks ago but they did not process it until they had racked up an additional $100+ in new interest. This, to us, is WRONG and DELIBERATE but beyond our control. Also, it is regular and customary for banks to charge interest on loans ONLY at the time they come due and that, if paid off early, there is no additional interest due. Sadly, we have to pay interest anyway.
Just over one year ago, Chase called and offered to refinance the same mortgage at a lower interest rate. Their contact informed us that we were fully approved and qualified for the refinancing. We pursued their offer, only to be told less than a week later that they do not do mortgages of the type THAT WE ALREADY HAD WITH THEM. While in the process of buying our $47,000 home, our bank informed us that Chase Mortgage was already interested in buying out our mortgage and would offer us far better options than they possibly could. Given the high energy and positive ads that this monster constantly airs on television, the internet, radio and every other format you can possibly find, we both thought this would be a good thing for our small family of four. We were promised a fixed rate mortgage which... hah, lied to there. They sent out surveyors after the fact who determined that our home depreciated over $10,000 within the first two months that we owned the home. Every year, our mortgage payment rises. We started at $412 a month for a payment for a two-bedroom home. We're now facing a $495 a month for the same home, which according to these wonderful bankers, is worth far less than when originally purchased, despite nothing having been changed but improvements.
In the past two years alone, we've been forced to replace the hot water heater, multiple pipes beneath the home, and the main breaker of the home. They expect a one-income family to be capable of keeping up with this and their constantly rising payments? A part of me honestly believes these tyrants only seek to foreclose so they can make yet MORE money off the next poor sucker who is blind enough to make a deal with them. We're currently in the process of trying to modify our loan; to what avail that may be is still unknown but... at this point? For the sake of not having to deal with these horrible excuses for 'customer service representatives' and a 'bank that cares about its customers', I think it really is beyond mattering to me. We applied for mortgage modification for our loan with Chase Mortgage. After gathering dozens of documents, etc., spending over $600.00, and waiting six months, the modification was denied with no explanations. This bank is simply no good. That was on 04/01/2011. I will try again, this time with an attorney.

My husband and I were both sick. I no longer was working and husband was retired and had dementia. I submitted a request for mod not once but several times over. Finally, they granted a modification, but the catch was, "they increased the loan by $300 per month". We made the payment for three months, then we were notified that we were not eligible for a lower modification. By the way, we were current on the mortgage but we continued to send requests to modify plus included medical documentations on both our health situations, yet they had us send documentations again, and again and again to no avail.
As time went by, both my health and my husband's continued to decline. Mine was to the point that I had to be resuscitated several times due to losing almost half of my blood. Then my husband had kidney failure, plus lost his sight and was no longer able to walk up and down the stairs without falling. A couple of months later, we put the house up for sale. Suddenly, there was a tornado and the Real Estate agent and husband both were severely injured in the storm and were no longer able to show the property. However, we did not know that the company did not assign another agent.
While the house was up for sale, we found another house to rent. We never received a letter that they had foreclosed on the property but were informed by a neighbor that the house was foreclosed.
Chase never worked with us to be able to stay in our home and they did not care that both my husband and I were gravely ill. In October 2011, my husband passed away from kidney failure. I am now alone and still not able to work due to multiple surgeries, and other medical problems I have. We had lived in that house since 1997 and finally lost it because Chase did not want to work with us by modifying the loan. What is worse, Chase is not even giving us even a fraction of what we put into the house. All we wanted was to be able to stay in our home and pay a little less than we were. Our medical bills really went wild because of both our health.
To those people who think that people who have lost homes due to foreclosures, they should know that there are many things in life that will not work out for you. Most things are unexpected, so before you judge, take a good look at yourself and pray that these things or worse will not happen to you. "By the grace of God there go I!"

Chase promised me free loan modification. I was temporarily unable to make problems due to a divorce and lower family income. By the time I was modified, I was fearful of losing my home. They added $20,000 to my loan without explanation. This place is fraudulent.

My husband and I attempted to obtain a home mortgage modification in 2012. After 6 months of faxing numerous documents and jumping through hoops, we were "approved" for a trial payment plan. The catch was that our payments would be raised "$300" per month. We obviously did not accept these terms. We have since filed bankruptcy. I became unemployed in April 2013, resulting in the loss of over half of our income. Our Chapter 13 payments take over half of my husband's take home pay each pay period. I am not receiving any unemployment benefits and my husband’s take home pay after the Chapter 13 payments is less than $1,000 per month. We attempted the modification again.
I spoke with Chase customer service rep Emily on 4/23 to verify what documents needed to be sent with the modification request. The application and all documentation were faxed to Chase on 4/24. I followed up on 4/26, spoke with Katie **. She said that all documentation had been received and was in order. I followed up on 5/2, spoke with Andrea. Again I was told that all documentation had been received and was in order. I followed up on 5/10 and spoke with Ashley **. She stated that the documentation had been received and was in order, but a case had not been opened yet (note, this is 12 business days later). She said that she would send an email to her supervisor and our customer service rep Cedric **.
I called corporate # 1-866-550-5705 and spoke with bankruptcy specialist Brian to discuss the delay in the case being opened. He said that he would escalate the file. I received a call from Ashley ** later that day stating that the case had been opened and was in underwriting. I received a letter on 5/17 from Chase requesting pay stubs, bank statements and request for tax return transcript. These documents were sent on 4/24. I followed up with Chase and spoke with Maggie to clarify what documents were needed. She agreed that what was being requested was already in the file and was unsure why the request was sent.
We received a letter from Chase on 5/18 indicating that servicing of our mortgage was being transferred from Chase to Select Portfolio Servicing effective June 1, 2013 - letter dated June 15, 2013. I contacted Chase on 5/20 to determine how the transfer would affect the modification that was in process. I spoke with Ashley **, she said that if the case was not back from underwriting by June 1, the modification process would have to be started over with the new servicer. I received a call from Chase customer service rep Cedric ** on 5/20. The underwriters were requesting information on the frequency of my husband's pay periods. When I asked about the status of the modification, he indicated that Chase was trying to complete the modification before the transfer and that the new servicer would honor the new terms.
I called Chase customer service rep Cedric ** on 5/28 to follow-up on the modification status. I left a voice mail message to return my call. The call was never returned. I followed up with Chase on 5/29 and spoke with customer service rep Dennis. He said that the file was pending completion and that I should know something by 5/30. Dennis said that he would have Cedric ** return my call. I followed up with Chase on 5/30. I spoke with customer service rep Robert. He said that our request had been declined. He wasn't sure at the time why. He stated that a letter had been mailed out that day indicating that the request had been declined and the reason why it was declined. Today is 6/11/13, and I still haven't received this letter.

I have sent in three loan modifications into Chase/JP Morgan. The first one was in March 2, 2012. I never heard anything from them. I started reviewing the papers and noticed it said if in bankruptcy, we needed a letter of release from our lawyer. I got the letter of release and sent in another loan modification package on 05/02/2012. They received it on 05/03/2012. My husband made several calls to them checking on the status. They told him we were missing several documents. I faxed everything they asked for, even though they were in the package I sent. The customer assistance specialist assigned to our account was Pomona **. Every time we called, we got someone else. Pomona would call the house early in the morning saying everything is looking good.
Five months go by and we get a letter saying we are denied. Also, their lawyer is trying to foreclose on us, but our lawyer is working with her. I thought it was because I did not have enough income that’s why we got denied. My husband lost his job at the end of February 2012, and was in and out of the hospital in March 2012. He is now on disability as of September 2012 so I thought I’d try again. I sent in all the documentation again with his disability on it on 11/09/2012. I called on 12/12/12 and talked to Joy **. She told me I needed to fax in a proof of address. I sent the electric bill in. I called on 11/14/13 and talked to a Debra **. She told me I need 2 recent pay stubs because the one I sent are too old and recent bank statements. She also stated that after 90 days, I would have to send in new documentation. This is ridiculous! How long has this gone on?
The requirements were if you lost employment or disabled, they could help. We had both and nothing is being done, except them telling me I need to send in more documentation. My representative sends me a letter stating I need a FHA form filled out, so I send this in. I get a phone call from my representative telling me I got your FHA form, but I did not get the loan modification package. I was like, WHAT!! I have sent you three of them. I told her that the letter she sent stated all I needed was the FHA form. She says she doesn’t know what letter I’m talking about. I said, “Okay, it has your name on it.” I hung up on her. We get another letter a few days later saying we have another representative for our case. I filled out a new loan modification package and FHA form and sent it overnight to Chase.
We didn't hear anything from them for weeks, then the representative calls the house leaves a message. My husband calls her back and leaves a voice mail message. We still have not heard anything from her, and I get a blank loan modification package in the mail from them with no explanation. Someone needs to stop these mortgage companies. My son is going through the same thing from Wells Fargo.
