I called Chase about home refinancing, and they keep telling me that we owe more than what the house is worth only by $4,000. Our interest rate is 10%. We just wanted to get a lower interest rate. They seem not to try to assist us at all. Because of their greed, they are not willing to reduce our interest rate.

Went to get financing for a home. Yes, this is how I found out there was a late payment. After 9, yes 9, years paying this frigging mortgage for our other house, we are denied because of one late payment in 12 months (after 9 years) and they couldn't even throw us a bone. That's okay. They can shove it because it drops off after 12 months this September and we will get our financing then. So ** you Chase and your Customer Service, which so far I have never had and now to prove the point still don't.
I will never set foot on Chase Bank property. When my current mortgage is paid off, I will mail it back to them complete with dog crap in the envelope. Crap service for crap banking.

In brief, I received a letter from Chase Home Mortgage offering to refinance my EXISTING Chase Home Mortgage at a better rate. The Mortgage Banker whose name I was told to contact was Gita **. I called, got the process started around the last week of March, 2013, PAID FOR APPRAISAL which was done soon afterwards, and by the end of April, after some back and forth about loan to value, escrow, etc., it looked like everything was good. Well... hold on. Not so fast. Another round of "additional documents were requested, and MORE back-and-forth. Okay, so... finally, on May 21, 2013, I got the 'OFFICIAL" loan approval and commitment letter (Oh, yes, all THAT took was a letter from my lawyer).
You would think I would be closed by now, right?? Well, not so fast! I got a call on Friday, May 31, 2013 around 4:45 pm from my Chase loan processor, Hanna **, that the underwriting department wants YET another document (stating that my subdivision is legally a part of the town I live in, which is a Planned Community). Geez, Loise!!! Don't you think they could have asked for this back in April????!! What a bunch of **!!!! Jamie Dimon, you should be appalled at how inept your mortgage department is operating. I provided EVERYTHING requested in a prompt and timely manner, and yet, despite even a "warning shot across the bow" letter from my lawyer, they have so far STILL not been able to offer me a closing date.
Don't walk; RUN from any Chase mortgage refinance offers you may get... Unless you have countless hours to waste contacting them, following up with them, recontacting them, providing them with documents and updated documents and all that!!! Stupid ** morons is a good way to describe the people that work in the mortgage underwriting department at Chase.

JP Morgan Chase and Dimon, the CEO, couldn't care less about its clients. It is a sin and a shame the way they take advantage of innocent people and families who struggle every day to keep a roof over their heads and try to raise their families in a stable home. These people are so high on their own pedestal and they make so much money that neither they nor their siblings have to worry or struggle the way we do. Dimon gets $250,000 bonus and he shows no concern to other people's needs. The Company and its subordinates are foreclosing on as many modifications as they see fit. They foreclose on all the homes that will put monies back into the bank so he can continue to get bonuses as such, while people are starving and losing their homes.
What they call modifications is misrepresented. These people hold liens over your head for missed payments; they do not forgive anything leaving you with a home that's underwater. That's GREED and INCONSIDERATION; these giants MUST be stopped. And the only way is through prayer. We must pull together and PRAY because even giants fall. I want to say in closing that God doesn't like ugly and what goes up, must come down. May God help us all. We must pray these giants and bigots back down to reality. WE MUST PRAY, PEOPLE!

I begin working with Chase to obtain a loan modification in June 2012, as our business had suffered greatly since the recession and we needed some relief from our current monthly payment. After we submitted all the required paperwork, it was determined that we were eligible. Our trial period payments were set, and the first one was due on 8/1/12. After making the third trial payment, I contacted my representative, who instructed me to continue making the trial payment amounts monthly until I received a modification telling me that it could take up to three (3) months. We made all payments as agreed by this plan.
On November 15, 2012, I was notified that we were not eligible for a mortgage modification since I didn't return the signed agreement by October 20, 2012. I contacted Chase as I had not received a modification agreement. I was then told the agreement was sent via Federal Express and left on my front porch. I notified them that I never saw the agreement and questioned why such confidential and sensitive material was not required to have a signature at delivery. My loan then was transferred to another department with Chase to determine if I could become eligible for the modification again. We made the December 2012 payment based on our trial payment plan amount.
On December 3, 2012, I received a notification that my loan was being assigned, sold, or transferred from JPChase to Flagstar Bank effective 12/21/12. On December 7, 2012, I received a notification from Chase that JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A. is now the creditor of my loan. It stated that the servicer of my mortgage is not changing, so I should make my payments in the same way, on the same due date, using the address on my monthly statements. On December 14, 2012 I received a Loan Modification Agreement (via Federal Express, still not requiring a signature). I signed all the documents required and sent back the next business day in the FedEx package provided by Chase.
On December 26, 2012, I received a Notice of Assignment, Sale, or Transfer of Servicing Rights from Flagstar Bank, saying my loan had been transferred effective 12/21/12. On January 17, 2013, I received a letter from Flagstar stating my loan was in default. On January 24, 2013, I contacted Chase, which faxed a copy of the modification agreement to Flagstar. On February 5, 2013, Flagstar notified me that the Chase modification agreement was not executed by Chase; therefore, the agreement did not exist. I contacted my representative with Chase, who informed me that the agreement I had executed and sent back via FedEx was received on the same day my loan was transferred to Flagstar. I asked that Chase execute the agreement.
On February 6, 2013, I received a call that stated that Chase will not execute the modification agreement. On February 12, 2013, Flagstar notified me that the Chase modification will not be honored (a review for Flagstar is my next step). On February 23, 2013, I received a letter from Flagstar with my check for the December 2012 payment to Chase attached - I have no idea why the check was sent to Flagstar, as the payee was clearly Chase Bank. On March 22, 2013, Chase informed me all paperwork related to my modification was sent to Flagstar Bank. April 2013 was spent trying to communicate with Flagstar Bank. On May 9, 2013, I left a message for the representative with Chase, stating they need to execute modification agreement. I received no calls back. On May 13, 2013, I left another message for the Chase representative, letting him know I was sending a letter to my congressman and they need to take action. Call was returned within 20 minutes. I also found out that the modification agreement I executed was received by Chase the day BEFORE my loan transferred, not the day my loan was transferred.
I sent a letter to Mr. Jamie Dimon, CEO of Chase, letting him know that I was notifying my congressman as well as Consumer Affairs of this situation. May 23, 2013, received a message from a point of contact with the Executive Office of Chase. May 23 and May 24, 2013, returned call to my point of contact, only to leave messages. May 28, 2013, my point of contact returned my call, stating my situation has been discussed with management and being handled at the executive level. I was also told that they were extremely sorry for the stress this must be causing me. They are trying to reach a resolution but they have not worked with Flagstar before and that she would be back in touch with me. No calls received this week.

I walked into Chase Bank on March 15, 2013. I wanted to refinance for a better interest rate. I was told by Siara **, mortgage banker, that she would help me and my wife. On March 25, we submitted all the paperwork they requested. Today, May 31, 2013, Siara ** told us they would not be able to help us because interest had gone up, that the underwriter needed some more paperwork. I just don't understand why they waited so long to ask for more paperwork.
I think Siara ** does not know how to work. She never called me once or my wife; I would have to call her. Chase took my money and did not do anything for me. I left out lots of back and forth from us and Siara **. All the paperwork she and the underwriter needed was turned in by April 10. Siara ** just waited too long. Siara ** told me they have a 60-day hold on the interest rate. I just can't understand. They ripped me off.

I would say my experience has been to the very low and to top. I'm a military veteran and I kept using my military status because I really do want to retire in my home. I was told I qualified for a loan modification, then was sent a letter I didn't qualify yet I never was told over the phone I did not qualify. I qualified for the new monthly payments (with the loan modification), but the original loan monthly requirements were too high. For others who are still trying, keep majoring on what you can do and fax them regularly whatever that is (if the process has been stalled).
I just told my wife (after the fact) the other day that Chase stated the loan modification paperwork was received, verbally approved, and then denied through the mail even after our trial payments started, but I was never told over the phone (because I didn't ask the question). She had no idea we were denied (for about three weeks), only that we were approved. Thank you very much Chase for allowing us to stay in our home even though the loan modification process wasn't easy and it took a year to get it right.

We've had a Chase account for years and never had any issues since we always keep a positive balance in it and never had to pay for any fees. We own several rentals and decided we wanted to move into a bigger home with more acreage to eventually start a family. All our rentals are paid off and the home we live in now, that will also become a rental, is the only one we owe about $40k on it with a USDA loan. We went to Chase last year and the mortgage officer said we should rather wait for this year because of our tax return of the prior year having a lot of expenses for our rentals since we rehabbed them. No problem at all.
So after this year’s tax return, we went back to the bank and the manager said that that person does not work for Chase anymore because he was shady and doing side business. (Afterwards we found out that was all bogus and he still works for the bank.) So she pushed this other mortgage officer on us who refused to even run our numbers saying we could only have a loan with 20% down and we do not qualify for FHA because we have other homes, though we don't have any FHA loans open. So we got up and said we'd take our business somewhere else... suddenly she had a 10% down loan. We were already finished with her so we called another of their mortgage officer (stupid I know, should have gone somewhere else right away).
The new guy prequalified us and prepared everything. However, he had to ask for stuff several times because his files were a complete mess. Nothing stapled together, all just thrown together. Haven't heard from him in over three weeks, once the processor got into the whole deal (seems to really care, I know). Well then underwriting started to wanting stuff nonstop that they already had. No biggie, I kept sending it in. Then they got our inspection report and asked for ridiculous inspections, i.e., Hazard waste (because of paver bricks and 2x4 laying on the grass in the backyard, septic tank inspection (because the grass on the lid isn't on it anymore though the inspector let hundreds of gallons run down the pipes showing there was nothing going on)), switching out a broken light switch, etc. - things the seller will not pay for because they are petty.
So we said hell if he can guarantee that we can close on this house as soon as this is done and paid for, we will gladly do it. Well he couldn't guarantee that either. A week later the bank came with other requirements because their appraiser saw some "issues" though he isn't an inspector so he doesn't know and our inspector already rated them as minor. Two days ago we talked to the processor and he said to please wait for the second appraisal they ordered (though the first one was fine and over sale price) and to repair everything and to get all inspections done. Today we get a letter that was mailed out four days ago by the processor, stating they now don't accept our mortgage application the way it was but we need to pay down an additional 3%. He never mentioned anything on the phone and wanted us to pay for all these phony inspections and repairs not even asking or telling us if we can afford this new mortgage arrangement.
We have been working on this for over a month and we are getting nowhere. We are so fed up that we are about to throw this whole deal away though it’s my dream house. There is still no closing date in sight and the seller is getting mad. It seems like this company doesn't want to lend any money at all. We make over $4k in profit every month and they can't even give us a loan of less than $150k? We also have great credit and good assets. It’s just ridiculous

I lost my job, notified Chase mortgage who offered a voluntary short sale plan to sell the home for $30,000 more than loan balance, and I agreed. I got a real estate agent and attorney. That was a year ago. To date, we have had several valid offers on the home. Chase has turned them all down. They said they wanted around $500,000 for the home. It's not worth half that. Chase sent out an appraiser who then valued our home at over $500,000. He made no notes, walked around and left. The appraiser was only in the home for minutes and his phone rang the whole time and he talked to people. I am sure he did not take note of the roof that is in need of repair (leaks). There is water damage on wood floors (need to be replaced) and more repairs that I can list if needed. I can't afford to keep up with the home or the payments. I don't understand how they can ask for more than I owed on the mortgage for a short sale.
Yesterday, Chase said they won't take less than $410,000 and won't do another appraisal or accept an independent one. The real estate agent had a bidder who had an independent appraiser do a current appraisal and it came in at $250,000. I feel cheated and Chase got funds from the federal government to help people. I can't find 1 family they helped. Taking money without validation is fraud... The consequences are: we have no choices and no rights. I will lose my home and my credit, and I am at their mercy.

Just as I was about to approach my first year of trial payments when I was supposed to receive $2,500.00 in forgiveness on my loan, they changed it to another "Chase" loan where my payments and interest would go down; but I would have a $30,000 balloon at the end of 19 years. I went along with that only because I really need low payments right now. But now they call me yesterday, on 5/22/13, and tell me they have changed it back to the first one. So now my interest rate went back up to 7.45, but they have taken away the forgiveness. I have a letter from them just 10 days ago confirming the first loan with a signature from their Vice President and saying they have approval to do a wire transfer for the 4.3 loan I signed last month. I can't keep up with these quacks.

There is only so much space to write this answer. It is beyond comprehension, surpasses customer abuse and violates so many regulations. I cannot list them all.
I have been dealing with this nightmare so-called, financial organization regarding a Home Mod Loan since Jan 2011. After faxing, mailing, scanning, verbal communications over and over and over, I was finally approved for trial pmts and then in Jun 2012 approved for the Mod Loan. I received contract, returned completed, and signed contract as requested. I made HML payments through 12/2012 when suddenly I received letter and my payment stating Chase could not accept due to the fact it did not cure default. Calling disclosed, a HML was never approved and house was now in foreclosure.
I started process all over again after sending complaints to OCC and Consumer Protection Agencies. Today, 5/20/13, Chase is still using their incompetent, irresponsible, unlawful, unethical and any other derogatory word I can think of, to delay the process. The documents have been with an underwriter since 3/26/13. Past experience tells me this will start all over again with the requesting of documents, etc. I have sent my complaints to the office of the President of Chase, Jamie Dimon. We know he will know nothing about this; however, I thought it would at least provide a higher level of intelligence and communication to get the HML resolved once and for all. When will someone take a stand and stop this abuse? There is definitely something very wrong. I had to put the one star just to get this through. This is so beneath 1 star. There is no rating appropriate except one huge scam to the consumer.

All of these happened to me too. I just sent my 20th set of forms (FedEx certified) to Chase. They keep assuring me that everything is perfect. Then I get a letter advising that one or more pages is outdated or lost or missing! This is even after they assured me that all they have is perfect. The level of incompetence of the CO office is beyond comprehension. I suggest filing a complaint with the OCC (and other agencies, etc.) and send substantiation, certified, RRR. Be polite but forceful! I am now sending my 21st set of completed forms, have retained an attorney and suing Chase to obtain the modification. They are astoundingly beyond arrogance and total incompetence! No one should ever use this pathetic excuse of a bank!

In 2010 and again in 2012, I applied for a loan modification. I was ignored both instances. Both times I was denied a forbearance. I'm 63 years old and have lost my retirement home, property, my good credit, and my health has suffered due directly to banking practices of Chase Bank. What in the world can be done? There are no lawyers willing to take on the big bank and the government has shown what a sham the independent foreclosure review has been. Letting the bank determine the damages of claims and the consultants charge billions of dollars in fees, how crooked can it get? Not much.

I have had major issues every year for 9 years with my mortgage lender(s). I had high hopes when Chase took over Wash. Mutual that things would improve. Those thoughts went down the toilet quicker than toilet paper! The issues have ranged from misapplied funds, to imposing FEMA (for flood insurance) even though I have always had flood insurance on the property. One "excuse" was the flood insurance wasn't "printed on page 2" where it normally is. Really?! And this issue has been repeated in following years!
The latest is paying insurance from escrow on a cancelled policy and then, paying the correct policy. But after paying it, they sent me a letter saying they weren't accepting the policy! Again, really?! Thus far, my file is approx 3-4" thick. Also, if one were to refinance, there's no guarantee you won't wind right back with Chase again! They took over Wash. Mutual and they may be coming to your neighborhood soon!

For more than 7 months, my sister and I (who own a home together) have been attempting to obtain a modification on our home loan. My job was outsourced to India and our income suffered severely since my age has made it impossible to find another full time position. Chase has requested additional information over and over. They have lost information we sent and when it took them several months to get things rolling, they required that we update all of our information once again.
Now, they want a new letter verifying my Social Security award which that agency says will take about two weeks, but Chase insists they need it in less than five days. The amount that I receive from Social Security is automatically deposited to my checking account and they have copies of all my current statements which show that amount. What, no calculator? The frustration level has skyrocketed and it just seems that they are trying to avoid processing the application by getting us to simply give up!

I started my loan modification with Chase in January. After a few weeks of not getting a response, I called Chase to find out what was happening with the account. I spoke to a representative who gave me a list of the paperwork that I needed to fill out. I also scheduled an appointment with my account rep. A couple of days later, I received a letter in the mail with the additional information that was needed. The day of the appointment arrived and no phone call from the rep at the appointment time. Thirty minutes later, I called and the rep was busy so another appointment was scheduled.
While I was on the phone scheduling another appointment, the rep called and left a message on my voicemail. I called the rep back as soon as I got off the phone with the other Chase rep. My rep was still busy. I sent in the requested paperwork. I ended up having to call again because my rep did not call at the scheduled appointment time. Eventually, my rep called me. He explained the process and informed me that he was switching jobs, so I was being assigned a new rep.
We are now in March and no decision. They requested additional information. It took me a while to get the information because it needed to come from my employer. I work for a nonprofit with a contract bookkeeper. I called when I got the info. I was told that they needed it in writing and that because it had taken me so long to respond, that my account could have been moved out of modification. That was from another account rep. I had not yet spoken to my new rep. She kept missing scheduled appointments! I was upset. I told them that next time they need something in writing, to say they need it in writing. And that if something is needed in a certain time frame, to explain that upfront.
I sent them the info in writing. After complaining about my rep, she finally called! I was informed that because it was over 30 days from the time the underwriters had requested the information, I needed to submit all of my paperwork again! I was pissed, but I submitted all of the paperwork again. That was in April. On May 4, I received a call stating I did not qualify for loan modification. I asked why and she said because my gross income is too high. She explained that Chase requires that your loan payment be 33% or more of your gross income. I make $3,200 gross, but only bring $1,800 a month into my house. The rest goes to the government and health insurance.
She then had the nerve to ask if I was only looking to decrease my payments because it looked like I could afford my notes. How are you going to tell me what I can afford? So I laid out all of my expenses like the new medical bills, childcare, student loan debt, IRS debt, credit card debt, etc. I am doing it because I need it. My question, if they know upfront that they only focus on your gross income to what your loan payment is and it needs to meet a certain percentage, why put me through 4 months of stress! They could have told me no when they got my paperwork! Yes, but they have used taxpayers' dollars for the last 4 months to review and request paperwork on an account they already knew they were going to decline in January!

I went through a mortgage modification program with Chase in January 2013. It started out okay, except that the paperwork they told me to send didn't meet their requirements. So I continued to send in the same paperwork over and over. Finally, I got approved for a mod. During the same time, I was put in foreclosure by Chase. A different department called me to tell me to cash in my 401K to reinstate the loan. Then another employee from Chase told me to not pay to reinstate the loan because then Chase would deny the mod. The last lady was correct. I received my mod paperwork, signed it and returned it and found out about the 3 trial payments. During this I continued to receive foreclosure information from Chase. So to ease my heart, I reinstated the loan.
I got a letter from Chase on March 25 stating that my trial payments were not necessary because I reinstated my loan, but my mod was good to go. Actually told by Chase to not make a payment until July. I was excited but nervous and called Chase to ask if this was true. They said yes, then said no a day later. They then cancelled my mod. I called Chase once a week for 3 weeks. I talked to several different people, requested calls from VPs but still everyone avoided me. Every time I called my loan specialist, who was supposed to offer outstanding customer service, I would get put on hold and disconnected. Finally they told me that the letter of March 25 was no good since Chase accepted it, but did not sign it. What? Now they're telling me that I have to continue the trial payment periods. I asked over and over why my terms changed and got no answers.
When I threatened to sue, everyone hung up on me and never called back. I simply wanted a letter from Chase telling me what I was supposed to pay and when. Chase refused! I recorded all of the details from each call and it's embarrassing that a company would act like this. The best part? They sold my loan to Vericrest. Who? I called Chase yesterday to find out what the status of the mod was and they transferred me to Vericrest. Vericrest said they really didn't know what was going on, but said they would honor the mod. But I had to do 2 more trial payments. The details are deeper than I want to type. Finally I'm with Vericrest now and Chase just transferred over my 2nd trial payment to them. So one more trial payment to go and then we'll see what happens next. Chase Mortgage is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. It's obvious to me why the banks are in trouble.

Everything started okay when we went to the branch. We paid our application fee, locked in a rate and an appraiser came to the house in a short period of time. Then all hell broke loose! It was going to be another survey that was needed, another $160 to put my wife's name on the deed/title, a little more for attorney fees, and they had not even scheduled a closing date. I threatened not to close the loan when I discovered that the GFE form did not reflect what I was quoted as closing costs. The mortgage broker said they would check with their supervisor and get back with me. Chase nickel and dimed me until time had run and the package had not gone to the underwriters, so I was told. I paid $475.00 for the application fee and all I got was an undervalued appraisal, which I demanded after they would not initially give me. I guess I will use it to protest my property taxes. I entered the loan modification process with Chase in October 2010. Chase immediately returned any mortgage payments I made, stating they cannot accept payments during the loan modification process. Twenty six months later - yes, you read that right - over 2 years later, my modification was finally approved. Unfortunately for me, Chase added $52,000 of interest for "missed payments" (again, which they returned to me every month). My principal balance is now more than my home is worth and, in order to get affordable monthly payments, I'm now in a 40-year mortgage!
Quite the scam they are running. Every month let's tell the applicant that we need more documentation - the same exact documentation they have forwarded every single month but we'll tell them it's now over 30 days old so we must ask for new documentation. We'll do this as long as possible and add interest to every month. We'll gain at least $50,000 on every sucker applicant! In addition, we'll charge them for attorney's fees for our attorney to deliver foreclosure notices every month, even though we are not foreclosing on the loan.
Please, to any of you considering a loan modification with Chase, don't do it! Borrow money from your church, your friends, family, anyone! Take 4 jobs to make your payment - whatever you have to do. By the time my loan is paid off, I will be 90 years old. Please take my advice. I wish there had been someone to warn me. I could have gone to my church for help making payments while I was unemployed. Instead, I'm paying more for the home than it is worth and more than I'll ever be able to recover. Even if I sell my home, I'll never be able to sell it for what the loan is and I've lost $60,000 in equity already paid into the home. I cannot believe that Chase gets away with this scam. I'm so sorry to all of you who have fallen victim to the same scam.

We own rental houses and have three mortgages with Chase. We refinanced one to a lower rate in December, when they offered us no fees. This went quickly and without a hitch (it seems they are offering the HARP to no risk customers like us, instead of those it was intended for). Then mid-December, we began a refinance on our primary residence, a conventional loan, not HARP. We expected this to go well too and there is no reason it shouldn't have. We have excellent credit, adequate and steady income, have never made a late mortgage payment, have no debt other than mortgages and one moderate credit card balance for our business. Of course, we also have a history with Chase as good customers.
Four months after beginning, the refinance of our house is not completed. Chase has asked for more documentation than we've ever had to provide with any other mortgage. We sent it and a month later, they asked for the same stuff again claiming they did not receive (even though email correspondence confirms receipt). Each time we comply and send the documents they request, they just send another list. Like another person here reported, the blame goes to the underwriters. They even asked us to submit to the credit bureaus ourselves info about the mortgage they'd just completed on our rental house. I complained to a manager two weeks ago when they demanded written employment verification for my husband, again. They also asked for written employment verification for me (I own my own business. Who would send this verification?).
This manager said as soon as the verification for my husband was received, the mortgage would be completed. But now they've sent another long list asking for bank statements, pay stubs and other things that have already been sent twice. Even the requests are nonsensical. "Send the two most recent bank statements for January and February." Do they want the two most recent or January and February? This is mid-April. I'm angry, fed up, frustrated and ready to file a complaint with every agency and consumer protection group I can find. If you're contemplating a mortgage, I'd suggest you avoid Chase. As someone who's done about 20 mortgages, I'd also recommend avoiding Bank of America whose customer no-service attitude is just reprehensible.

I lost my job and got a forbearance from Chase on my mortgage (I wanted a loan modification, but they wouldn't allow it). The forbearance agreement said the monthly payments were due on the 1st of each month. A Chase employee gave me the address to mail my payment and I mailed my February payment in late January. Chase recorded it on February 1st. I then mailed my March payment later in February and the bank recorded it on February 25th. Now they tell me that this second payment cannot be counted as my March payment because they did not receive it in March. They say it is a supplemental payment and that I still owe for March. They immediately started sending me letters saying I was in default and then in foreclosure.
A Chase employee (Angie) said a monthly payment has to be paid at any time during the month (but this is not what the forbearance agreement says). I am getting nowhere with Chase on this. Logic means nothing to Chase Bank and I get the feeling the employees just make up their own interpretations of the bank's agreements. I'm so angry! I highly recommend that anyone currently with Chase gets the heck out and anyone even thinking of dealing with Chase run for their lives!

On March 2, 2013, I started the process to get a loan modification. My husband and I are unemployed - He collects retirement SS and we work seasonal jobs. We have lived in the home over 20 years. I am always late with the mortgage payment but I have somehow made the payment in the current month. Because we struggle, we filled out the 9-page paperwork, sent everything by FedEx on March 2, 2013. I called Chase on March 8, 2013 and was told the paperwork was received and I would be notified by our assigned customer service specialist. Well, she never called.
Approx. on March 15th, I called and was told our specialist's name and that she'd be calling me soon. She did not. I received a letter on March 22, 2013 with info about what I still needed to send in. There was no call. I called again approx. on March 25th and was told my rep had the day off. Another rep set up a callback for the next day. Guess what? My rep didn't call me.
I was livid. I can clearly see that Chase does not want to talk to people. They want you to send in paperwork over and over again. By the time I complained, my rep called me approx. on March 28, 2013. She said I had to re-fax all 9 pages again because of a few missing or unclear items, yes, re-fax everything. She then promised that she'd call me on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 between 1:30 and 2:00 pm to discuss what I had just sent. I called Chase just now because my rep never called me. I was told she was on a 2-day vacation. That shows me Chase doesn't care about anybody but themselves.

I don't rate Chase with zero star because there is no choice for no star. I have been in a nightmare trying to refinance my home to a lower rate. It is possible Chase deliberately delays the process, asking for items they know are difficult to get; when you get them, they say it is too late and they have to start the process again. They never tell you how much time you have left to submit documentations. They claim they’re trying contacting you. They make a lot of false promises that the rate won't change or there won't be any closing cost. They misinform you to the point that it is almost impossible to finalize refinance. At the end, it is your word against them. I have to restart the process for the third time.
The processor covers himself behind the underwriter; he blames the underwriter for absurd requests. The bank officer makes promises that he will speak to the processor and underwriter; the processor tells you that you don't have anything to speak to the bank officer, so they look like they are from three different teams. They ask you for ridiculous items such as my 2012 income tax return when it is January; however, when you find that item in a week (which is the last request), they tell you one more time that you did not submit documents in a timely manner. The bottom line is that they find the way to keep you busy until your locked rate has expired; worse is that nobody tells you or gives a warning that your case will be closed in x amount of days if you don't submit this or that. They claim they have to follow regulations and policies. It has been so frustrating and I don't know what to do.
Other banks like Wells Fargo asked me for a letter from Chase stating that they can't provide me with the same service. When I went to Chase, they promise me they can do better and no letter should be provided. That's when my nightmare begun. Shame on Chase. I thought it was a good bank with honest employees. Now they say I see things from my perspectives and they are willing to start over again. This will cost me an average of $56K more in the next 30 years, just because they did not do their job properly and misinformed me for more than 7 months. Also, my monthly payment would have been 900 dollars lower every month, during the last 7 months, if they had closed my case in a timely manner. Sooner or later, the bank and those who are responsible for this type of damage to customers will pay..

I recently was able to lock in a much lower mortgage rate than my existing Chase mortgage rate. A few years ago, I refi'd my Wells mortgage with Chase. At the time, I thought all went well. Just to now find out that Chase messed up the refi process with the implication that if I did refi away from them, NY state would require a mortgage tax payment to be paid again. If Chase completed the refi correctly, I could refi and 'transfer' the fact that I have already paid the mortgage tax originally. So I had a choice: either pay thousands of dollars upfront and refi or do no refi. And at 100 bps lower rate that I had to walk away from, that is a big financial impact to my family!
Ironically today, I am laying a higher rate. And Chase still won't acknowledge the error, even though the impact is that they have no legal lien behind their mortgage! A friend of mine has the exact same circumstances and decided to pay the mortgage tax (again!). I wonder whether Chase does this deliberately to limit refi's? Please let me know if the same has happened to you.

We have been a mortgage customer of yours for almost four years now. In that time, we have paid you about $30,000 in interest (and various late fees here and there), prior to selling the home and paying off the mortgage last week. Yes, we were "30 days late" last month (for the first time since three years ago when a personal tragedy caused a little havoc) because we were originally supposed to close on our house by the 20th, but the buyers were delayed, creating confusion on when the payoff was good for.
So, when we realized the error, we paid the account immediately, but have since noticed that the "ding" to our credit dropped our FICO 52 points overnight, leaving us below the allowable limits to obtain a loan for the next house we already had pre-qualified for and had an offer on a new home in a new city. So, we called to ask for help, a favor that you show a little humanity and remove the "30 day late" ding from my credit report that has now dropped our credit score 52 points and is keeping us from buying our next house.
Your reply was, "We're very sorry for the trouble the credit reporting caused you. However, it's not our fault that you didn't stay on top of the selling process... We can't do anything to help you. It wasn't our fault; it was yours." I guess my question is simply this... How did we ever harm your organization by paying our bills on time or paying late fees every once in a while when we were 15 days late? Once we realized that the sale didn't close on time, and we were already late, we paid the bill immediately (with late fees), before closing the sale of the home last week! How would it harm you to make a simple "switch" back to the credit bureaus? How hard would it be to say "Thank you" to a customer who was nice enough to give you their business (and money) to begin with?
All we ever did was to give your company the pleasure of our business by sending you money, money, and more money. In return, I simply asked for a little show of help, a little understanding, a little compassion. I even offered to move my business and personal accounts to Chase as a "thank you" for that small favor. What do I get? I got a corporate "hands-tied" slap in the face...
My wife and I used to defend the "big banks", but after this personal experience - I'm sure everyone we share our simple story with will think twice about who they do their business with.

My mother passed away in 2010, leaving me as her only living heir. Chase was aware that she had passed away, but took no action so we thought all was well. My niece had been living with and taking care of MOM so she stayed on in the house and kept the mortgage payments up to date. Now all of a sudden, Chase is saying that they are going to foreclose on the property for reasons I do understand. I have faxed them a copy of the handwritten wishes of my mother, but they say it is not a legal document because she did not have it notarized. It is dated, written and signed by her; and as far as we knew, it is legal in the state of Oklahoma. The payments were being made on time, so what is the problem? It isn't like the property is actually worth what is owed on it. It is located in an extremely depressed area, and there are numerous vacant houses in the area. Since Chase is insisting on foreclosing, it is my contention that they are not entitled to the monies paid to them since my mother's death.

Finally, they apologized and said they were having problems in that department. They said “you are approved, now your payment will be $3,860.” I had to agree or lose my house. Now I'm behind because I can't afford my payment. My original loan was with Washington Mutual; they were bought out by Chase. My original home modification was with Washington Mutual for $2,200 which Chase should have honored.

This company is such a complete ripoff. We have had nothing but trouble since day one of Chase purchasing my mortgage. In July of 2012, we had a storm that damaged my home. We submitted our claim and turned over our insurance check to them. We were told that in 2 weeks we would receive most of it back and the rest when work was 90% complete. We received a check alright, but it was someone else's check and now we are being delayed once again. We were told another check will be issued and sent out to us within 5 business days. That was a month ago. Now they are telling us that due to us being late on a payment, our check won't be processed until we get it caught up. Really? They had already attempted to send our check, but was someone else's. Had we received our check the first time, this would not be happening.
There seriously needs to be some law firm that is willing to take on a class action lawsuit for the consumers of this country. After reading all the other nightmares people have gone through with this company, surely there is someone within the law community that can help. This delay process is just a scam for them to collect money that they have not earned. I continually get the runaround each and every time I call. I keep getting told to call this department. I literally was on the phone with them for 6 hours and kept getting told to call the same four numbers to four different department. Each time I was told to call this other department. At the end of the day, I realized I had been calling the same 4 numbers all day with no help. Just being passed around and getting the runaround.
Something needs to happen here. There has to be something we as consumers and American can do. There is power in numbers. I would be glad to jump on any class action lawsuit if someone was to take on the great and powerful Chase.

I have my current mortgage with Chase. In January, I decided to refinance to take advantage of the lower rates. I contacted Chase online and spoke to a very helpful employee. He got all of my info and then forwarded the refinancing package. He also sent me a checklist of documents that Chase would need to approve my loan. I sent most of the documents within 2 days. I was then handed over to a senior loan processor and it was all downhill after that, from the non-responsiveness and incompetence to threatening voicemail messages. I have never in my life been treated so disrespectfully. And if this were not enough, after my loan had been approved and the appraiser submitted his report, it turns out that my appraisal was too low for the loan to go through. The appraisal was a sham.
I live in a highly desirable area of Chicago. The market in my neighborhood has only gotten better in the last few years. Two years ago, my place appraised at $245,000, after taking a hit from an all time high of $310,000 in 2005. This time, the appraiser came back with an appraisal of $130,000. I disputed the appraisal and came up with six comps in my area which sold for at least $100,000 more. Even after submitting these comps, the senior loan processor advised me that the appraiser wouldn't adjust his appraisal and I was out of luck. Of course, I was welcome to reapply at a later date. Are you kidding me? After reading a lot of these complaints, it seems to be a recurring theme with Chase. They take your money and then deny the loan. What a scam. I agree with the post I saw earlier today. Isn't there a class action lawsuit here? I'd love to be a part of that.

My husband and I finally got a mortgage modification after trying for about 3 years. It is giving us a payment about $100 less than the original mortgage with an added $77,000 more added. This is because they told us to stop paying when applying for the modification. We originally had to pay about $900 a month for 3 months. They never modified and we made constant calls. We finally got it now after 1 solid year of submitting repetitious paperwork. They would "lose" it or say we didn't submit blank bank statements and give every excuse for not modifying the loan.
We went through 3 or 4 different people before finally getting the loan modified. If they had just done it even a year ago, we would have that much less to pay back. They recorded every phone call so it can be checked out how much frustration they caused. I think they should be investigated for this and want some compensation for all the mental anguish they caused us.

In 2010, I had a mortgage with EMC, a company owned by Chase. I had a change in life and income around the time the housing market collapsed and I asked for assistance. EMC lowered my rate for 39 months, and then the loan was to go adjustable. Months before the end of this modification, I wrote requesting something permanent for fear at the end of this period I'd find myself in trouble on my already underwater loan. The modification ended, and Chase closed EMC fully taking over the mortgage.
When my payment went from $1,000.00 to $1,400.00 a month, there was no way I could make ends meet. I went to Chase's help for homeowners page and thought after reading it, that they really wanted to help people keep their homes and credit. It turns out it is just a nightmare of sending and re-sending the same paperwork. The only people you get to talk to are customer service reps who have no power and little idea what you are going through.
Finally, Chase said if I'd participate in their trial modification plan making three timely set payments in a row that they would do a permanent modification. I borrowed money to ensure I made the payments and sure enough, I got a stack of paperwork to make my mortgage a permanent modification. The offer was to pay like $1,100.00 a month for 24 years, which is what I was struggling to pay before. Then at the end, there would be a $108,000 balloon payment. What an offer on a home Chase currently says the fair market value is $70,000. It's an older home in a declining area.
So I wrote back saying this still dooms me to failure and is a Band-Aid, not a fix. Chase answered by giving the option of a short sale. They requested the same paperwork that I have probably provided 3 times by now again. I redid it and faxed 54 pages. They wrote back the request for assistance form wasn't completed. I re-faxed it. Bear in mind I have had to fill out this form several times already; where do these files go when they are received? My latest letter complaining about the overall process says that I am the one who asked for a short sale, but my application to do one didn't contain a date of sale. Well no kidding, I put it on the market at Thanksgiving. They said despite all, I am in active foreclosure. So thanks Chase for all the assistance you offer. Offering deals that are not even workable is not "assistance".

We received a letter to refinance our mortgage and did so online to save a great amount on our monthly payment. We were told there were no closing costs and 0 points, so we jumped at the opportunity. This started in September 2012. Everything we submitted apparently was not getting to the correct person via email, although our email sent file showed it was delivered okay. Then when we were told they would get back with us the next day, it was 2 weeks later. They began to ask for explanations for very odd things that really didn't have anything to do with a refinance but we submitted those, sometimes twice, because the info didn't get forwarded to the correct person in the office, not by our fault.
We finally got funded at the middle of February. We were lied to, paying points and hidden fees, etc. We were told not to pay January's house payment but, of course, they didn't fund the loan in time. It was a good thing we called and paid it on time. We will never do this with Chase again nor online or on the phone. We will go the old fashion way and go into a branch and do our research first.
So here is what we figured out. We have a mortgage with Chase currently and they are delaying our new application. They are making more money with our interest with the current loan than would they with the new loan. If they do this to millions of potential applicants, Chase is making billions of dollars in this 6-month to 9-month period. They asked the same requests over and over, some being ridiculous and others were so obvious of being delay tactics. This is an intentional delay on their part to take our money from interest and cause unnecessary demands to assist their plan in doing so. I believe there should be Class Action Suit for those that were/are Chase Mortgage refinance victims due to this obvious unnecessary delay, and we can regain our interest taken from us during this process.

My ex-husband and I currently divorced. He lost his job last year and was unable to pay the mortgage on our home. The loan is in my ex-husband's name and deed in both of our name. During the divorce settlement, my ex-husband finally decided to quick claim the home to me and I was able to be approved a refinance loan for the home. When receiving the payoff balance, the loan is $5000 over the appraisal value due to the $10,000 in late interest added to the loan. Chase refused to negotiate any of the late fees and stated I must do a loan modification or a short sale from my husband.
When explaining that I wanted to pay the loan off per our divorce agreement and out of his name, they stated he could sign an authorization for me to apply for a HAMP and they would use my information, but the loan would remain in my ex-husband's name, or the only way they would take a lower payoff is with a short sale in which I would have to purchase it from my ex-husband. I explained to the loan officer of the bank that I am an owner on the deed and I wish to maintain the home. No one can explain how I can do a short sale purchase on my own property.
To call Chase and keep speaking with different customer sales rep with no financial or banking experience during these economy times should not be allowed. They really should look at revamping their call center just as BOA had to do to prevent the continuous increase in foreclosures and short sales. Chase is not stating they don't negotiate late fees they just want unless it's a modification or short sale. I thought the mission was to keep homeowners in their home.

2002 car accident, black eyes, left me with a broken back and shattered foot. Out for over two years. Primary breadwinner. I used credit cards to pay bills. Lots of equity in our house. I was advised to file bankruptcy, but like an idiot, I didn't. We felt since we racked up the debt, we should pay it (much unlike Chase, and other predators). As there was so much equity in our home, along came a vulture. With no income, we were refinanced at a higher interest rate; all our credit card debt was paid off. Then the saga begins. Company X sold our mortgage a number of times and then it ended up with Washington Mutual Bank. I got back into the job market and asked about refinancing to a lower interest rate, with no PMI. I was told that my mortgage was never late and was advised to miss two payments and then reapply. Very stupidly, I did. Then the mortgage meltdown happened. Chase now owned WAMU.
I paid up on late mortgage payments. I asked Chase about refinancing. They said I must wait two years to apply. “Within that two-year period, make sure to pay on time.” I did. Of course I was so mad that I heeded the advice of a person at WAMU. Two years went by. I submitted application for refinance to Chase. After a couple of weeks waiting patiently for response, and then contacting them, I went through the usual "page 3 fax not legible, etc." I fixed that. And it continued... Finally, they seemed satisfied that I submitted everything correctly. Result? Application denied. You make too much money, you're not in difficulty, and you have good savings. I explained that job was long-term temporary. My job was being outsourced to India, and I was required to write the "work instructions" for these offshore workers. Nice, eh?
I spoke to a "nice" rep at Chase. She said that as soon as my work situation changed, resubmit application. She also said that savings must be below a certain amount. I had too much money saved (seems like that is a bad thing!). I prayed that my job situation would not change, but it did. Before reapplying, I frantically looked for employment. Unemployment insurance was a blessing, but I was compelled to start using my savings to supplement. When savings went below threshold that was told to me by rep, I reapplied for loan refinance. I felt that relief was in sight. No more 7.75% interest rate, and PMI. I heard from a "nice" rep at Chase. I was being processed for forbearance. Thankfully, even though I am stupid, I know the meaning of forbearance. She told me what a good deal this was. I would pay less than half my monthly mortgage payment for a period of three months. Of course, this would be reflected negatively on my credit report.
After three months, I would be required to start paying full mortgage as before, but I would, at that time, be required to also pay the balance of the "forbearance". I was livid and asked why my mortgage couldn't be refinanced to a lower interest rate, with no PMI. That is what is killing us. Answer: "Oh, you have no income." When I said that I was denied when I had income, silence. I am waiting for the paperwork to come so I can tell Chase to **. I will do whatever I can to get out from under the crushing paws of this devilish demon. Chase Bank has no moral compass. They are less than hyenas. It's like fishing: they give you bait, you bite the hook. Then they string you along, tire you out, drain every penny from you... then they spike you. They leave you with nothing. And the CEO and upper-management make off with huge profits because they had a wonderful quarter. They "helped" so many people to stay in their home. Is there a success story from anyone that has dealt with these demons?
Chase Bank, where is your conscience? And please stop telling us you have guidelines to follow! You bend/twist/warp the rules to your benefits. Don't you realize that there are some folks that are really trying their best? How I wish I did not break my back in 2002 - I would not have to have had any dealing with you. And it was not by choice. You acquired WAMU after they went under. Take example from them. You live by the sword, you die by the sword. Stop taking advantage of the struggling working class.

I recently wrote a complaint about my mortgage but I have since spoken with my attorney, and I would like to share the information that was given to me. Under the Obama Administration, they came up with the loan modification program for banks to try to recover losses. I was told by my attorney that every single loan modification a bank gets, they receive $1000. Now be advised that it does not mean if it gets approved or denied, just $1000 to the bank for every loan modification filled out and submitted. Well, to be frank, I was in complete shock when I heard this.
Chase Bank has denied me to make a payment on my home for 42 months now (my house payment is, or was $509 a month), all the while stacking up some extra $25,000 in back payments! In those 42 months, I have sent in at the very least 20 loan modifications with Chase Bank. They made at least $20,000 off my loan modification scam experience, but they have charged me with $22,000 worth of back payments to my original loan. Anyway, my story was told earlier, so you can only imagine my horror at this point. I will be losing my home at the end of February, a home that was a family home that I rebuilt as a single mother at age 25, because I was raised there since the day I was born, along with my other 8 brothers and sisters (I'm 40 now, and both of my parents are dead). We have had our home mortgaged with Chase for several years now. Last year, Chase offered two unsolicited opportunities to re-finance our current mortgage to a lower % rate on two different occasions. Both attempts thus far have been an absolute waste of time and with countless red tape. We would send all the required paperwork only to have them request something else. There were countless emails back and forth with their reps. It became a part time job to try and keep up with all the requests for information.
I'm speculating that the US government has pressured (maybe mandated?) mortgage companies to offer US homeowners the opportunity to lower their interest rate and reduce their monthly mortgage payments. I further suspect that Chase is simply "going through the motions" in offering us their refinance option.
Bottom line for me as a consumer: Chase mortgage has been absolutely horrible to work with. We are selling our home this spring to purchase another. I am looking forward to dumping Chase and financing with a reputable customer focused mortgage lender. I would rather borrow money from the Mafia than Chase Mortgage.

I have a 30-year loan on my house, and I have paid 10 years. I got behind three payments (due to family problems with my daughter who has MS and my elderly mother) so I called Chase and was told my loan would not go into foreclosure if I hurried up and pay at least two payments. I overnighted the payments. Three days later, I received a notice from Chase saying my loan was going into foreclosure. I called and was told that I was too late to stop the foreclosure. They said, “Sorry, whoever told you that you could send the 2 payments was wrong." I was too late. Shortly after that, my check came back and they wouldn't accept it.
I was told to apply for a loan modification, and they would send me the forms. They did and we went back and forth for a month; plus they checked my credit history, my checking, payroll etc. I made a payment again and it was sent back. They said not to pay any payments until the modification was done, which took around 3 months. So at that point, I owed six payments. I asked, "How is this done? Do you change my interest rate? Where are the late payments going to be added on? Will my loan change in any way? Etc., etc., etc.” I was told that they wouldn't know anything until after I go through the trial period, and there was no information on my paperwork that they had.
I was approved, but I first had to go through a trial payment plan for three months. At the end of the trial period, I was notified that I was approved and told that they would send out the final papers to be signed. At this point, I owe seven payments, and I'm behind seven escrow payments, with the total at approximately $9,000. I was told to read and sign the papers and return them within 7 days. I read the papers and found that my interest rate was the same and my payment was a new amount. The old amount was $777 + taxes and insurance for a grand total of $1,014. The new amount was $997 which included taxes and insurance (total payment was lowered to $666); $1,014 minus $997 equals a savings of $17.00 a month.
The letter I received from Chase was a form letter where they filled in the blanks. I did not receive any paper telling me how they arrived at the payment amount. No figures, just the form letter. The lady I have been dealing with did not mention anything about payment figures. I then started to try to figure out the payment when I came across that the form letter. They had my loan changed from being paid in 2033 to 2053! They put 20 extra years on my mortgage for the $9,000 I owed and lowered my payment by $17.00! The extra years added just blended in with the same ink color. The payment figures are in dark ink, but the years increased are the same ink color as the rest of the form letter. Now, I am 8 days away from the forms being sent back to them and do not have $9,000 so that this doesn't happen to my mortgage! Chase is not showing anything that would be important to the mortgage holder getting the loan modification! In fact, it's hiding it in the fine print!
They are the most horrible bank and will rip-off a person any way they can. And this is a bank that our government "gave" our money to in order to "help them out"! When you have a long time loan, anything can happen that will change your life and your income! Don't deal with Chase! You could live to regret it! It's really too late for an attorney.

I applied to refinance my loan with Chase. Everything went smooth right through the appraisal. The appraisal came back fine and I thought I was on the way to closing. I sent everything they asked for initially. I then received a call from the same lady asking me the same questions she had asked me previously, and then she asked me if I had received my welcome package, which I had received already a couple of weeks before. After this everything seemed like it was being delayed. I sent in one thing they asked for and then 3 days to a week later they would request something else. I sent everything in that was requested when it was requested. I even followed up the same day after they had no response and my loan was revoked due to time. The lady couldn't even tell me what had happened. After she had referred me to another person so that they could tell me what happened, she had no problem getting back to within minutes after I sent her an e-mail. Terrible customer service and I would not recommend doing business with them.

My mortgage nightmare 2/04/2013 - I became disabled and unable to work on December 1, 2009. I finally started receiving disability benefits in August 2010. I am extremely concerned that EMC Mortgage and Chase Bank made several mistakes to my account, causing my home to go into foreclosure. My account was current and paid. Although, after Hurricane Rita, my homeowner's insurance premiums went up an extra $2,500.00 a year. I wasn't aware of this because my homeowner's insurance goes through an escrow with my mortgage company, so I never received any type of letter or call notifying me of this extreme raise in premiums.
I was current on my account, or so I thought. Then one day, I received a shocking letter from EMC Mortgage saying that my loan was several months behind and my home was in foreclosure. I immediately called EMC and asked how this was possible because I had made all of my payments, and my account should have been current. The customer service representative then advised me that my last 5 loan payments had been credited to pay my homeowner's insurance instead of being credited to my loan payments, without my knowledge (as I specifically wrote on the notes area of all of my checks, loan payment and the month it should apply to)!
She then advised me of the unbelievable raise in my homeowner's insurance premiums. Had I been made aware that my homeowner's insurance premiums had gone up that much, I would have cancelled my policy with them and gotten another one (which I immediately did after the phone call with EMC). I then sent EMC a check for $1,000 to try to bring my account current (my loan payments were $509 a month). On June 23, 2010, my check was mailed back to me and I was told that EMC would no longer accept any of my payments on my account because my home was in foreclosure.
When I started the loan modification process with Chase Bank almost 4 years ago, I asked them for a copy of my original loan papers. When I received the original loan documents, I was in disbelief as the property address was wrong (they say **, not **) and the social security number on the documents is not mine. The loan originated on March 18, 1998 and was for the amount of $42,900.00, with an annual percentage rate of 11.793%. I had paid on the loan for 12 years and Chase Bank says that my balance is still $35,101.73. My address is **, my neighbor's address is **. I have never owned any part of **. Please keep in mind that my 63-year-old neighbor has never had any mortgage on her property nor does she rent from me.
On Jan. 3, 2013, not only did the sheriff's office served my 63-year-old neighbor Notice of Seizure papers with her address on them (**), they included a rent's due letter from the sheriff's department stating her address as a rental property and that she needed to pay rent to the sheriff's department on the 18th day of every month in the amount of $405.05. The letter also states that her address has been seized by the sheriff's department on 1/3/13 and that her property will be sold in sheriff's sale on February 27, 2013. My neighbor's address was also listed in the newspaper for sheriff's sale date of February 27, 2013.
When I spoke to Chase's attorney, after they delivered my foreclosure and notice of seizure papers to my 63-year-old neighbor, they advised me that the last payment on my account was on September 1st, 2009, which is not correct. There was a payment made on Sept. 16, 2009, check #**, for the amount of $2,545.25. Also on Jan. 15, 2010, check #**, for the amount of $1,527.15 which were both cashed by EMC Mortgage. On 1/3/2013, there was a lock box placed on my front door, along with all of my locks changed and my water turned off, with a paper from Safe Guard Protection on my front door stating that my home is vacant and abandoned. They also turned off my 63-year-old neighbor's water.
When I called the phone number on the paper, they told me that Chase Bank sent them to winterize my home. I am going through loan modification procedures with Chase Bank, so I called Chase Bank. They told me that they did not advise Safe Guard Protect to do this to my home and that they do not have a sale date listed on my home, because we are still working on the loan modification. On 1/31/2013, I got another call from my neighbor saying someone was at my home and has my refrigerator outside, and that they had turned my neighbor's water off again. This time they had not only turned my water off too, but this time they also put a lock on my water meter.
I then called the water company to make sure that they had not put a lock on my water meter. They advised me that my water bill was current and paid, and that they did not turn the water off or put a lock on my meter. I then called Safe Guard Protect and they told me that Chase Bank had again advised them to do this. So I then called Chase Bank and again, they told me that they haven't advised anyone to do this and there is no sale date on my home. Then the Chase representative told me that maybe this was happening because I owed property taxes on my home and that they were seizing my home for unpaid taxes. I advised her that was not possible because my home is filed under Homestead Exemption and I did not owe any property taxes. Still no explanation..
I have been going through loan modification procedures (scam) with Chase Bank for the past 4 years of my life now. I have sent them numerous loan modification packages and they are constantly asking for more paperwork. All the while Chase advising me that they could not accept any payments on my account. This has been more than a nightmare for me and my family. So much that it has taken a toll on my health. I have been diagnosed with intense depression. Not to mention my neighbor and all the unnecessary harassment and stress this has caused her - for absolutely no reason at all.
I can only guess that because my home has a large amount of equity in it (it was last appraised at $120,000.00 and my loan payoff amount is $35,101.73) that it is in Chase's best interest to foreclose on my home instead of allowing me to keep it. As you can see my reasons for concern, had so many mistakes not been made to my account with EMC Mortgage and Chase Bank, my home would have never gone into foreclosure in the first place. Any advice on this matter would be very much appreciated.

I stayed in my home for ten years and a half paying $598 a month. I have had money taken out of my checking account without my permission by Chase. I have showed the proof and was still not reimbursed my money. Then I was threatened with foreclosure so much that I left my home. Then someone called and said that I could get help with getting my house back for $999.99. So after I lost my sister one week and my son the next, I paid the money only to be conned out of my money by a fake company that didn't exist. So I called Chase and I was told that I can get my home back. Me being super excited, I applied for the loan modification. During this time, I went to the home to check on it to find someone stole the AC unit and stove and knocked a couple of windows out.
So I filed reports and sent it to Chase. I finally got approved for the modification and they tell me they were going to repair the house, because we found out that one of Chase's workers filed a claim for the damages to the property but did not fix anything. Also they said they were cutting the grass over the summer and were not. I have pictures and proof for everything. So the modification came through and it was for more than what I was paying at the beginning and they told me that I had to do my own repairs, even though they were already paid to do it. So I am looking for help now to save my house. I am 61 years old and love my home and feel like I have been ripped off by Chase and I need help asap.

I applied to refinance my home in early November 2012 and Chase charged $460 for processing fee. I clearly asked to make sure I qualify for the refinance before paying the fee. The mortgage consultant confirmed that I am qualified and not to worry. My working income is over qualified for the refinance and I also have a joint business that my husband is running. She has said that the business will have no impact on my refinance as I have a source of income from work and my income from the business can't be used for this refinance.
Chase has been dragging on my refinance file for almost 3 months and there are many requests back and forth related to my business such as my business license, P&L & B/S and also a letter stating that my business has no impact on my working income. I find that this request is irrelevant and has nothing to do with my refinance. I had written a letter saying that the business has no impact on my income and requested for a refund if they can continue to process my application.
Chase has refused to refund my fee and even given me a deadline. If I don't submit the requests, they will withdraw my application without refund. I think this a scam. They just want to charge you the fee knowing that your application will never be approved by dragging time and making unreasonable requests. I have been with Chase for more than 7 years and my mortgage payment has always been on time. I've never been late for one month. I am very disappointed with their service and feeling I am being ripped off. I would appreciate it if anyone could help me get reimburse my fee. Thanks so much.

In February of 2011, I reached out to Chase to begin a modification of my mortgage as I could no longer afford the monthly payments; my husband was not working. My payment at that time was $1,805.19. I had never been late on a payment. At that time, I had been in my home for 14 years. I received the paperwork, completed it immediately and returned it to Chase. I received a letter that they had not received my paperwork and to resend the paperwork. I again completed it and resubmitted it. I was in rather constant communication with Chris in the modification department at Chase. I received a letter stating that my modified payment was to be $1,581.96. I was to make three modified payments starting in June 2011. I made modified payments starting in May 2011 and continued to do so until November 2011. I was even told that my credit would be in jeopardy by not paying the difference between the $1,805.19 and the $1581.69. So for three months, I even paid the difference.
Along the way I received a letter stating that my new modified payment was going to be $1,901.88. I began calling again because this was almost $100 more per month than my original mortgage and my mortgage had been reset for 40 years! I made two payments at this higher amount. I called countless times and spoke with people in the modification department and the home equity loan department, even though I have no idea why my loan is a home equity loan. I have been passed from person to person at Chase. I told them that even if you factored in my taxes and homeowner's insurance, that $1,901 a month was too high. I was told that someone in underwriting would investigate and call me back. No phone calls back ever, until later when the collection calls began.
I received final modification documents in December 2011, showing that I had been approved for the modification and that my new payment would be $1,130.84. I signed the documents, returned them to Chase where they were countersigned and returned to me. These are my loan documents. I began receiving statements that showed a zero balance for the months of January, February and March. I was concerned because something was wrong. Then in April, my statement showed I only owed $267.48 which I paid. So since December of 2011, I have been paying $1,130.84 per month per the signed loan documents. I called in June to check on things - no resolution. I called in July. I was told that my escrow had not been calculated in the loan and that if it was the error of Chase, that it would be corrected and that in about two weeks I would receive a letter with the outcome.
Sure enough, I received a letter stating that I am $12,000 behind in my escrow. This was entirely an error of Chase and I certainly don't have $12,000 lying around to fulfill an escrow account that they forgot to calculate. I received calls all day every day because I have been paying the $1,130.84 per my loan documents and they want another $738.85 a month in escrow. I cannot afford this. That total would be $1,869.69, which is more than my original payment. I have asked repeatedly for someone at Chase to sit down with me and review my entire loan because something has gone wrong along the way and it wasn't my fault. To top everything off, my loan balance of $265,691.72 has not decreased one penny since 12/22/11 - over a year ago. How is this possible?
I have read of many other complaints exactly like mine and even class action lawsuits against Chase. I do not want to lose my home that I have lived in for 15 years now. Why in the world would I want a higher payment than I had when I asked for help a year ago and to also have my mortgage term be reset for 40 more years? Please help me. I have tried to be proactive with Chase and even showed them that something was wrong with my loan. The home equity department won't speak to me because it was a modification and the modification department won't speak to me because they consider the modification closed.

On or about March 2013, our mortgage will amortize and our monthly payments will most likely increase yearly based on the current index. Unfortunately, back when we originally took out this loan, we could not have foreseen the family issues or the past and present day economy issues. Since August 2012, I have attempted on several occasions to modify my current home loan. The fact that it is not Freddy Mac or Fanny Mae, I am prohibited from using Harp 2 and cannot qualify due to loan-to-debt ratio. On November 21, 2012, I applied for the loan modification program that Chase bank is offering. I met with a person named Alberto (debt collector) who right off the fact mentioned any documents and all conversations would be used in case the property had to go to foreclosure.
The basic facts are I am current on my loan and have been since it was originally taken out by Washington Mutual. I just need a loan modification at present day interest rate. After Alberto looked at the documentation I provided, I was informed my current payment of $2,400 would go to $4,000 and there was nothing he could do based on Chase's procedures and policies. As you can understand, we did not proceed with your alleged modification process and after reviewing various issues regarding your alleged loan modification program, I believe it is Chase's sole intention is to permanently deprive solid homeowners from their residences. If I am wrong, Chase would have provided me with a reduced fixed interest rate similar to Harp 2 and this complaint would not be. Therefore, I have filed several complaints with various state and federal Agencies regarding your ethical practices here in California.

We were approved for a mortgage on 10/5/12, but the underwriter keeps asking for the same things and adding new things. The loan officer had us do a property appraisal for $450 before getting all the questions up. I have escalated it. Chase knows that their process is awful, but can't seem to get defined. I was to verify what a deposit was. My account is with Chase. I feel I'm being harassed. They indicated that my tax refund deposit could have been a loan. Why not just get another credit report or better yet, look at the online copy of the check deposit which is what I pulled up and furnished? When I submitted the application, all my rental agreements were current and one came due 60+ days. I had asked the tenant to redo the lease before they raised it as an issue.
I had to buy a scanner as I was tired of weekly driving 40 miles to the bank to getting the loan officer the requested documents, which then were not forwarded to the underwriter. It is not Chase's policy to have potential mortgage customers talk to the underwriter, so the loan officer and loan processors have to sort through what the underwriter is asking for. Obviously, they don't know because they keep saying they need to address issues with the underwriter. What issues? Isn't it my loan? How can they rely on loan officers and processors to find out what is needed? With every note I get, it states that if I'm not 100% satisfied, to get a hold of whoever's manager.
Well I asked for the manager of the underwriter's department and was never given it. Also, since the loan was only good for 60 days and through no fault of mine, I was told that it would be extended. At that time, the rates went down and I asked to have it redone at the lower rate. I never heard a word about that. Today, over a month after getting the manager of the loan processing involved, I received another note that she had to talk to underwriting yet again.

My husband and I have had a Chase Mortgage for the past 7 years, so naturally when we were ready to refinance at a lower rate, we went to our current lender (who we also have CCs with and bank/savings with) for our refinance. Almost 3 months later, we have still not closed. We have qualified for the refinance but never got communication from our loan rep or processor. We have to call every two weeks, and each time, it's something new. We are good to go, then we are in underwriting and have problems. We have had to defend our credit report numerous times when we have good credit and have proved it.
We have received "congrats, you have qualified" letters every week with different figures from originally discussed and agreed upon. Finally today, we received the latest "congrats" letter laying out the latest terms and discover they are trying to pad an additional $12,000 into our existing loan for which we were told would not cost anything additional over normal closing cost and most of those would be waived because my husband is a veteran. We are done! We will not sign anything with Chase and will satisfy and close out all accounts with this company!

The most incompetent employees I have ever had the displeasure in dealing with. Our home burned down on October 8, 2012. On November 8th, I overnighted the insurance company check to pay off my mortgage. I sent the package as I was instructed, with all pertinent information. Once that process had taken place, I am supposed to receive the remainder of the funds to start rebuilding a home. Here it is December 8, 2012, I am still waiting for JP Morgan Chase to send the remainder funds. We have lost everything we own and cannot do a thing due to their incompetence. I have made numerous phone calls and several hours of conversations with even managers in their resolution department, and still no answer. Promised phone calls that were never returned, but still no date as to when my funds will be sent. Amazing!
I am positive JP Morgan Chase will not calculate the interest they have accrued on my money and forward it to me. In fact, if JP Morgan Chase held everyone's funds as long as they have held ours, imagine the interest money they get to keep. Free money for JP Morgan. Just keep people's lives on hold long enough to collect a little bit more, that's how they can collect even more to pay or bonus their poorly qualified employees. Does not matter what tragedy has hit their customers. Even the customers who have the money to pay off their debt. So I have decided and told the last person I spoke with today that if I do not have an answer as to when that check will be in hand on Monday, I will be on every social media site, start making phone calls to every local news station and show up at the nearest JP Morgan facility I can find. I will start by publicly announcing every single person's name that me or my husband has spoken with since this all started. Enough is enough.

We got a Rural Development loan on our home which was sold to Chase. They have done nothing but try to get us out since the 2nd year we owned it. Our home loan is backed by USDA, so if they kick us out, they still get paid. Another government bailout perhaps? We have always paid our mortgage. It was late on a few occasions but never by more than a week or two. They were always telling us we needed to make double payments to get current and we did so for 3 months straight! According to Chase, we were still behind and set up a payment agreement with us. Any money we paid over our regular mortgage payment went into a suspense account.
According to chase, once the monies in that account added up to a full payment, they would be applied. They never were. They held our insurance check from damage we had from an ice storm for more than 2 years, preventing us from repairing our home. All of these funds, I was told, were being held in our escrow account but if that were the truth, how could the escrow account show a negative balance? One day we received a call from a Chase representative wanting all kinds of financial info. They said they were trying to help us save our home and they suggested we not make our payments for 2 months so we would qualify. Yea, right! We continued to make our payments and hired an atty. He suggested we come up with all of the money they requested and send it to him so he may document the payments, this was to be done in 3 different checks. We did so, and a month later received a foreclosure notice.
Chase claimed they never got the checks, yet 2 of the 3 had been cashed! We had to hire another atty. and file bankruptcy to save our home. Our payments are now double since we pay through the court and have legal fees included. This is ridiculous! We should not have to fight to save our home because people at Chase are unprofessional and cannot apply people's payments where they should. By one of their own rep's admittance, our funds have been "misappropriated!" How sad is that? All I can hope is that at the end of our bankruptcy, our attorney decides to take some legal action. It's all we can do to not walk away, but this is our home! We are not in the wrong! And thankfully, I have documented everything!

I was approved for modification after six months of absolute paperwork hell. I also previously wrote a review on this site on Oct. 10, 2012. Since then, I found out that having been out of work for years, medical problems and am on a fixed income of only SSI and Food Stamps, that my modification income calculation new payment was what Chase calls being grossed up. This means that they added 25% to my actual income by multiplying my actual income by 125% thereby my payment is not 31% to my actual income, but closer to 56% having my income inflated by that much (25% higher). I was not told this until after six months of paperwork and the modification payment was determined to be that much higher.
So folks, Chase/Fannie Mae is calling my SSI and my food stamps a net amount, tacking on 25% to increase my payment by that much higher (grossing it up). So if you are on a non-taxable income (they count food stamps here also), be wary this may happen to you. I went through more hell since then and found out that the only way to change this is to have the laws changed, which I looked into whereas I was recommended to contact my state (MA) senate rep. I did this and was passed (without address to this issue) on to others, then to another entity called the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau who oversees the banks on a federal level. I am still waiting for a second response. My first response from Chase/Fannie Mae was that basically they do this do everyone, with this type of income. My additional complaint now is that when I applied for the modification, nothing was in writing or otherwise (within modification application process) stated to me that I would be looking at a 25% higher payment (based on a 25% higher inflated income). I do have two other complaints within this one with Chase, but are separate from this modification issue.
The Consumer Finance Protection Bureau may be able to cut through some tape for some of you folks or possibly address some of your problems with Chase. Also, maybe look into the Homeownership Preservation Foundation. They may be able to help you. I personally would have had sometime (winter is here) or become aware of other options from Chase/Fannie Mae to deal with my personal situation, instead of being what I feel to be cornered into this very (trapped) undesirable and financially ridiculous situation by Chase not putting this information where we could make a timely and better accommodating (to our own desires and needs) decision for our own betterment instead of Chase making me feel hostage to their possible gains at my expense. This procedure could have been mentioned before and/or within the modification application calculation process, but was left out. Now, I know why!
I have had this loan for almost 24 years this January. I am furious and have paid more than three times what I borrowed by now! These money mongers know that those of us that truly need financial help know we many cannot afford an attorney and this time factor can easily throw us out of even having a (better for us) decision that don't include them foreclosing on us whereas they will surely benefit at our expense. I personally am not going out of my home without a fight and definitely not going to keep silent for them to do this to possibly many others.

In summer of 2011, as a self-employed, I lost two big accounts that were the primary source of paying our Chase Mortgage. Because of these circumstances, I called Chase to let them know our situations. They told me not to pay anymore mortgages that I should apply for their loan modification program so we did. Fourteen months later, we are still waiting for the underwriters to make a decision. Throughout the 14 months, we went to several customer assistant representatives, approximately eight. I also was told that it's normal process for us the average homeowners to wait for the underwriter's decision.
Well, I have another home loan through Chase that I am trying to modify, but because our first loan is taking their sweet time making a decision, we got denied for loan modification for the second loan. I cried so hard when I got that news. Now, the underwriters are again asking for more documents, the same documents they've asked throughout the 14 months of waiting. They really need to revisit their process because it's not fair for us average homeowners to wonder if they will keep their homes or be homeless.
Chase does not care for people like me, trying to make ends meet. I am not even going to celebrate Christmas because of Chase. We need help to get our voices out to them. Just because they are a big corporation they should not have the authority to ruin people's hope and lives. They should be helping the average American citizens that are struggling because of the economy, not leaving them hanging.

While we found your Chase's loan officer, loan processor, title company and banks attorney meeting exceeding our expectations, Chase underwriting department practices should be revisited. I am in banking for over 25 years and I understand the current climate of increased regulatory requirements, which big banks are operating under, to say the least, our overall refinance experience with Chase at times was frustrating due to receiving untimely, many times redundant and unwarranted conditions/requests. Some significant pain points, not in particular order:
My wife, the co-signer of this refinance, is a school teacher for 25 years and does not receive wages during the summer. The verification of employment process for her was a nightmare, only to be resolved by my physical intervention to hand deliver forms in an effort to expedite these redundant requests. Is my wife the only school teacher who applied for a loan during summer recess? We produced her pay statements and Fannie Mae VOE forms two times. For the additional conditions requested regarding credit inquiries, I totally understand it; however, with establishing new credit, many times new statements are not available. The reasonable solution would be to pull a new credit report to match the inquiries to new trade lines. This simple effort would have enabled us to close without stress before her new school year began and saved us valuable time trying to satisfy these requirement(s).
Noteworthy of the (4) credit inquiries requiring additional details, I find the Amazon/Chase inquiry the most amusing. I was asked to provide a current statement from Chase. Hello, aren't you Chase? For your information on Oct. 3rd 2012, post funding this refinance, I closed my Amazon/Chase Visa. I know the importance for account relationship and the costs associated with establishing them. You just lost that account and I am considering moving my other relationships. Providing signed copies of our Equity Source Account agreement and disclosures for a Citibank HELOC 2nd mortgage twice, July 25th and Sept.12th. This was yet another delay and significant pain point which added frustration associated with your underwriters' inability to understand that this is a copy of the original document, which we signed when we took out the HELOC, and is Citibank's typical note (11 executed pages)?
Lastly, the closing documents were sent without our middle initials. My wife and I had to initial all the corrections and sign accordingly all the documents which was a nuisance. At time of application, July 25, 2012, the loan officer set a closing timeline for an average closing as being approximately 45 days. Since it would be difficult for my wife to take off once her new school year begins, it was important for us to close within this expectation. Even though Chase waived all extension fees, we closed after the 60-day lock-in period and after her new school term began. With all the hurdles we had to overcome, I do not understand how Chase underwrites any loans for average applicants within your 60-day lock-in period, nevertheless within the 45 days as quoted on average (and we are excellent applicants, far exceeding all your required underwriting ratios, etc.).
I understand and anticipated some bumps along the way; however, the redundancies and senseless obstacles were ridiculous.

Chase bought my loan without my knowledge or consent from the servicer shortly after we purchased our house. I know that there is a statement in the paperwork to the effect that the servicer planned to sell my loan. But I think I should have some say in who gets it. Or, whoever buys it should honor the original loan's payment service schedule. I don't like Chase, and I don't want to give them any of my money. They will not service the loan in the manner that I had it before (bi-weekly payments), even though it clearly has a drop down on their website for bi-weekly payments as of last week. Basically, they said, "Tough." They said that I could refinance it (money) or just make an extra payment (not the same thing). I am trying to reason with them and not get lawyers involved, but to no avail. It's going to cost me money no matter what, and I'm torn between giving it to lawyers that I hate or a bank that I hate slightly more.
I think we, as consumers, should have some say in who purchases our home loan. That way, we can work with companies that we have a relationship with, or are comfortable with, or just plain value their customers. The banks/servicers/etc. should not be able to sell/trade our loans like they were old baseball cards. That's one factor that got our country into this financial mess that we're in. You would think that they would learn. You would be wrong.

Wow. Reading these accounts, which are so similar to my experience with Chase Mortgage Modification, I have to wonder if Chase truly intends to modify struggling homeowners. I would love to hear some insider scoop from an anonymous Chase modification representative. We were forced to stop paying our mortgage in the Spring of 2011 due to similar circumstances as everyone else in foreclosure - income loss, illness, cost of living skyrocketing, etc. We have been trying to modify our home loan for 15 months now. We have met all of their deadlines, resubmitted the same paperwork multiple times and continuously kept in touch with our representative. We were assured we were doing everything right and we would not receive a foreclosure auction date.
Without explanation or modification decision, we have an auction date and will not have a chance to keep our home. I have to wonder if, for some homeowners, the modification process is fake. This all seems like a sham. Doing everything they ask and yet nothing comes of it. How is this an OK business practice? If they want to take our homes, just take them. I get it. We were not able to fulfill our contract to pay the mortgage. Just don't waste hours of our time and get our hopes up. Do they do these halfhearted modification attempts to appease the federal government or to avoid lawsuits?

The closing was a total nightmare as the Chase processing department is a complete train wreck. We turned around every doc asked for within hours, but it still took 36 days (6 days over what we were promised) to close the loan. This would have been even longer if I hadn’t continually followed up on every aspect and pushed people to do their job. During this, it became apparent that the entire processing department doesn’t care about customers and that this attitude is pervasive from top management down. Nobody was willing to help and completely apathetic about the fact that our lives were severely disrupted and we had significant extra costs simply, because they couldn’t move faster and deliver on time. Our sales contract was in default and we nearly lost the home, which is 100% the fault of the Chase processing department.
As one example of their complete ineptitude: 2 days before the loan was supposed to close, the underwriter was asking for documents we had already provided! There were several other examples that clearly showed the disorganization and incompetence that is pervasive within the processing department. The only positive experience had been our loan officer. He did a fantastic job and everything in his power to make things right. Unfortunately, it seems he is the only person within the Chase mortgage division that cares. Even his manager doesn’t seem to value customers, as he never once called me during the excruciating closing process. All I’ve ever received from him is an email with an empty promise to call, as I’ve never once talked to him.
That little line in everyone’s signature - "if you are not 100% satisfied..." is a complete joke. I was 0% satisfied and everyone’s manager I called was even more apathetic than the individual below them.

I completed all the loan modification papers and hardship letter to Chase in November 11, 2011. I even overnighted the above information and Chase said they never received it. Until April 2012, no one knew what was going on when I called Chase or even knew if I sent in a loan modification or told me it was "in process." I have names and dates of all the phone calls. In April 2012, I received a letter I was denied a loan modification. My husband was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in October 2011. After a major surgery, 6 months of chemotherapy and extreme loss of income, Chase refused a loan modification. I borrowed against my retirement fund to keep my three minor children and my husband in our house. I am 52 years old; I have no more money to borrow anywhere.
As of October 5, 2012, I was discharged from Chapter 13 bankruptcy. I have five years’ worth of mortgage payments. I am not behind and the mortgage was not included in the bankruptcy. If you pull my credit report, it shows Chase has me in "collections" so I cannot establish credit and possibly get a loan modification or refinance with another mortgage company. I went to a local Chase office and sat with a loan officer who assured me I am not in collections with Chase when they pulled my credit but would not let me see the report. This person handed me loan modification papers and told me to try again.
I am the main bread winner and am currently out of work with a ruptured ligament in my right foot and possible surgery. I will not be able to work any overtime when and if I do go back to work. I am a nurse and work 3 12 hours shifts a week and carry the health insurance benefits for the family. Can you help me? My current mortgage rate is 7.75%; my payment is $2,325.83 a month. There is no way I can make that payment this month and Chase will not work with me. Please call me and I do want an attorney. Thank you.

I started my refinance process last February 2012. I was turned down even though they were the one that initially contacted me. In March, I was back in OH with family so we went into a loan officer there and he said there was a mistake and I could refinance. I started the process. It is now October 26th, 2012 and they are not done with my refinance. It has been a constant request of information. I will turn in my bank statement, then the next month they will say, "You are missing page 2 so now you need to send it to us." I send it, then they say, "Well the time has expired for that statement, now we need your next statement." It is constant. They have done 2 appraisals because they stated they expired and I would need to do another one in November. This is ridiculous. I am not even underwater. I have a lot of equity in my house. It is simple and plain, not a complicated loan. I'm very frustrated and ready to expose how awful they are!

In 2/2010, I got a loan modification done by Chase. They added $21,942.24 to my principal balance. When I called about it, they told me I had not paid my mortgage for two years and that's what the charge was for. What bank in the world would let you buy a home and not pay the mortgage for two years? Then, they said that since I made the loan modification payments on time, they gave me the loan modification. When I questioned all of this, all they did was transfer me to another person. I either sit on hold for hours (and I am not exaggerating) or they keep on transferring me to other people until I get mad and hang up. I am still fighting with them about this. My next step is to get an attorney. I want that money taken off my principal and all the interest they have charged me extra because of it off as well. I don't think I am asking too much as I think that this is fraud.

Chase Home Loan Modification process is a scam. It took us 11 months to get our home loan modification finally approved. Like so many other reviews I have now read, they also kept stalling our paperwork process with repeated requests for the same paperwork to be submitted countless times. This is clearly a tactic they use so they can eventually apply huge fees and increase the loan amount as much as possible. After 11 months, I gave up and told them they could have this house, and go figure - the modification came through. But now our payoff is more than 7,000 dollars higher than the original loan amount, and we lost over 5 years of payments. Now, we will not live long enough to pay off this house. What they are doing is criminal, and somehow, collectively, people need to find a way to stand up against them and make them stop these deceptive trade practices.

Chase agreed to a short sale for our rural property over 1 1/2 years ago. We had an offer from them to receive $20,000 and $3,000 HEPA after the sale. We had an offer and Chase took so long with the approval (about 8 months) that the buyers backed out. We had a back-up offer for the amount that Chase required. This was a cash offer. We submitted all the required paperwork for the sale through our attorney, but kept getting correspondence and phone calls from different Chase reps that paperwork (that we have already submitted) was needed again. Our account was switched from one person to another, and each time we spoke to someone, we had to inform them that we were represented by an attorney who already submitted our paperwork. One rep informed us that our paperwork got lost and that we were required to submit it again, which we did.
Chase decided that they were going to accept the cash offer with an additional $1,000 from the buyers, and they agreed. Upon agreement, Chase decided to get another appraisal. They countered, then required the buyer to pay an additional $18,000. The buyer backed out recently. Our Realtor does not return our phone calls since she is obviously disgusted with the whole experience of dealing with Chase. We do not occupy the home and since it is in such a rural area up north, I'm sure it is now a haven for bats, is completely overgrown, and possibly riddled with mold.
I understand that by foreclosing on us, Chase will be eligible to receive additional funding from the government and basically will be double-dipping. I believe that they never had any intentions to short sale our home and that they intentionally put us on a roller coaster ride. They exercised total incompetence during this process, ultimately leaving us to with no recourse except foreclosure. It's unfortunate that good people like us have no legal rights to fight the powerful banks of our country, to fight the powerful banking industry since they deserve to be accountable.

My home loan was bought by JPMorgan Chase from EMC Mortgage three years ago. I have never been late on a mortgage payment with EMC, but decided to go for a modification to lower my payment due to loss of some of my income. That was where the whole situation went haywire.
After supplying everything I was asked to supply to EMC many times (and have proof of the paperwork being sent), EMC continued to say they haven't received some of the paperwork. After many calls and many faxes, I sent the entire modification request package with all the requested paperwork, with a return receipt. The mail was sent back to me. They refused to accept it. It wasn't two weeks later that I received a letter from them saying that they were going to foreclose on my home. In the meantime, Chase bought the mortgage and simply continued on with the foreclosure.
I hired a lawyer and filed for chapter 13 to stop the foreclosure and to be able to do a modification with Chase. To date, I have faxed over 100 pieces of paperwork to Chase for the modification yet every time I called to see what the status was, I am told every single time that they needed me to resend more paperwork. At this point, I have simply given up. They assigned me to a case worker. I have talked with her many times and have asked her to call me when there was a decision, but she has never called me back.
I am done with it all. If they take my home, so be it. I feel there is absolutely no way to make this entire mess right. I am 65 years old and thanks to their non-communication and lack of consideration and care about my home, I will have nothing in the end. I don't understand why they don't want to do my modification - at least they would be getting payments from me. As it is now, they are getting nothing; and to tell you the truth, I am glad. This mess has made me sick and has cost me money for a lawyer that seems to be doing nothing for me. I can't afford another lawyer or take legal action against this bank, so I am stuck.

There was absolutely no communication with the lender who never answered our emails, which he claimed he never received. He was unprofessional and very inexperienced. We notified his supervisor, who also was rude and didn't follow-up on our complaints regarding this loan officer. When questioned why he didn't return our calls. He said he didn't because our client spoke very little English. This was 40 days later. He finally very rudely said he would get rid of the file and no longer wanted to deal with it. We contacted his supervisor who also didn't seem to care. I finally told him we would contact the district supervisor. He immediately said he would take over the file.
To make a long story short, our buyer decided to cancel the sale because of the unprofessional Chase lenders who he called very incompetent. We also agreed with his evaluation. We lost the deal. Buyer's lost their deposit and appraisal costs. We work for a very reputable agency in Bakersfield, California where the Chase bank on California Avenue is located. We will never work with Chase again and if any buyer uses Chase as a lender, we will definitely persuade them not to deal with this bank. You need to straighten out your act Chase Bank. They promised to straighten it out by yesterday, but they didn't. If I don't perform according to my agreements with this bank, they have the power to destroy my credit and throw me out on the street. I have a second home that I refinanced with Quicken in about six weeks so this experience with Chase has been especially frustrating. To make a long story short, the process is now into its sixth month with no end in sight. They continue to request information, much of which has been supplied multiple times. I am a CPA so I am used to dealing with financial information, but this has been maddening for me. There is no reason for all of this. The loan amount is on 23% of the assessed value of the home and our household income is beyond satisfactory. In short, I would not recommend Chase to anyone who is applying for a mortgage or home equity line of credit.

I contacted Chase back in June of 2012 to refinance my mortgage for a lower interest rate. I was told there would be no problem to refinance. I was told I need to pay $395.00 origination fees, which I did. I have been faxing current pay stubs and bank statements monthly. I was told by my loan processor I would close by the end of August and would pay the lower amount by September. Every time I call Chase for a status update, they tell me the loan is in underwriting and should close soon. I receive letters weekly that my loan has been approved. The last I was told about a week ago the loan was waiting for PMI approval. Again, I sent current bank statements. I received a call from my loan processor after leaving several unanswered messages that I have been denied from Fannie Mae because I do not have enough assets. They also told me I would not get back the $395.00 loan origination fee.
Why did it take 4 months of faxing documents to now tell me I am not approved? This bank is a scam. I do not recommend anyone go through Chase for a mortgage on a loan modification. I first tried the modification that I was denied because they said I have a job. You can't get a modification or refinance through Chase, but they have no problem taking your money.

I had been trying for a loan modification for a year with Chase - sending all documents within a day and re-sending them multiple times and still nothing. Then, the day after I send them a letter stating that I was laid off of work, they come back with the denial of the loan modification. Mind you, I had been through bankruptcy and everything. So then I try for the HARP refi program. The guy walks me through it and pre-qualifies me at an interest rate of 4.16% and sends me all of the paperwork to go over and send back, and then they will proceed once they get the $395 application fee and the documents from me stating the terms. So that all goes fine, and then today, I get a new statement saying my interest rate is now 5.57% and it is not going to save me anything.
My escrow currently is $309.94 and my interest rate is 5.87%. With this new proposed interest at 5.57%, my escrow payment goes to $755.24? How can that be when my insurance and taxes are the same? They get my $395.00 fee then send me this? I think they should have to honor the rate of 4.16% and the terms set forth in the first statement. Is there no oversight of this program to see what they are doing to people trying to make it? This seems criminal to me, and I am going to broadcast it to everyone and every site I know of or can find. I have requested a manager call me, but I am not optimistic that they will, so I am filing complaints wherever I can.

I have been trying to work with Chase to modify my second mortgage with them for 3 years now. My most recent attempt, back in March 2012, ended up being approved for a modification after 3 months of sending in the same documents. Chase thought dropping my rate from 7% to 6.15% and stretching my loan out from 30 to 40 years in order to save $30/month was a great deal. I have since stopped making my payments and have filed a complaint with my attorney general's office. My home is under water and the value on my home is actually less than the balance of my first mortgage! So you would think Chase would want to work with me because there is no actual value to my second mortgage.
Chase would have no incentive to foreclose on my home because they would get nothing in return! I even tried to settle my mortgage by using an attorney as a third party and I was told that I should use my settlement, that I was borrowing, to pay my other debts! So I did and stopped paying Chase. I encourage others having issues with Chase to do the same. My wife and I had perfect credit and we are now on the verge of damaging that for years to come. We are tired and fed up of dealing with incompetent reps from Chase who keep changing their minds and attitudes. I actually had one rep tell me, "If you don't accept this modification, you're done!" I'm sorry, was that just a threat! Nice training program they have to teach reps to talk to customers like that.
Anyway, I successfully modified my first mortgage after 2 long years and help from my attorney general's office. I know I have fared better than some of the other sad stories I've read here. If anyone needs some advice on how to go about it, feel free to ask. I wish you all the best of luck!

I have been trying to get a VA to VA streamline refi from Chase for over two months now, going back and forth with them, with request after request of different things that are unnecessary for an in-house streamline. I fully understand that they can ask for anything they want to, but here is my problem with this entire entire situation. I have closed two different loans with them in the past, a conventional loan and a VA loan, which I currently have. I have never been late on either loan to date! My credit score qualifies (VA accepts a 620 or higher). I work for the US Postal Service so I have very secure employment. I have been a loyal on time paying consumer for over 12 years with them. I have no late payments. On my entire credit file! And lastly, I am a 50% disabled veteran from the first gulf war! I have closed two reg. loans faster than this and every time I call the reps to see what is the hold-up, they always come back with they were having problems pulling one of the credit reports, which under this type of refi is really unnecessary from the start.
Regardless, once told this, I immediately re-opened my frozen account several of times within the hour of the conversation, calling back for them to let me know if they have pulled it or if they are still having a problem. Time and time again, they've never return the calls and when I finally get them on the phone. They say the same thing. This has happened twice and after two weeks each time. When calling back to check on the status each of the two weeks, this is what I’m told; both times, I asked, "Well, why didn't you call me and say something?" I get excuses. They passed my file on to another senior loan officer, been on vacation, death in the family and so on, and so forth. Then after opening and closing my credit file constantly, not to mention it lowers my score each time I do this, now, I’m told that the underwriter needs me to verify the addresses on the credit report.
Here is my problem with this! There are four addresses on there. Two are with them! The other has an apartment # attached to it and lastly, a P.O. Box. Really! This to me is insulting and silly. If they had both loans, then they should already have the start and end dates of residency to two of the four because it was with them. I went from an apartment to a house after that (which to date is with them) which leaves the P.O. Box, if anything, which was my legal state business address (which should have been irrelevant). But for them to say they can't match the dates is insulting to me to say the least. Every time I've left a message inquiring on the status, they are never returned. Now the underwriter wants my check acct #. And I’m not doing it because I’ve given them 12 years of faithful service as a consumer and it should not have anything to do with my outstanding payment record with them.
During this process, I had recommended to two other co-workers (a facility of 3,000 postal workers) to do the same with Chase, coming from outside banks (out-house; one from Wells Fargo and the other from SunTrust), helping Chase's business, as a loyal customer. Both have already closed as new Chase customers and yet I’m still in-house being run through the mill as if I were coming in from the outside. I understand business to the point where they would rather keep my payments the same to not lose what they're getting from me now and stealing the competitor’s customers. But that's not good business/practice for good, stable customers such as myself. When the FMV returns in the housing market, I will not be a Chase customer. Like Clark Howard says "customer no-service,” I will not be recommending anyone else to that company either.

It took two extremely aggravating attempts to be approved for the loan modification (taking 6 months). And due to the terminology of the actual application and the actual terms of the modification agreement, one should not get into this process without an attorney during all phases. I feel like I have been blackmailed into a lower payment at the cost of having to agree to a term that (when I finally decided without an attorney, it was too risky to do this alone).
In other words, by making my first lower payment, I must agree to a term that my attorney told me to disagree with. Then the Chase Bank reps (that are in the department to answer my calls) told me if I do not agree to this term which is potentially financially dangerous term that my modification will be tossed. This is putting me into possible default if I cannot continue paying the pre-modified payment, as well as the escrow at their judgment of time. Now I have no choice but to agree to this one term in fear of possible later effects.

After sending the second set of documents, I heard nothing until I received a letter notifying me that our request for modification had been denied. The reason was that we had failed to return documents by the specified deadline.
I have kept very thorough documentation and called Chase. I spoke to a representative who found that the 4506T form in the 2nd batch of documents was missing the date beside my wife's signature. That's valid except that the 4506T sent in the original packet was valid and could have been reused. Or, perhaps, someone could have let us know before letting the date expire and notifying us of the turn-down.
I pleasantly reviewed my information delivery dates with the representative. She reopened the modification application. She also gave me a list of documents I needed to resend and a fax number to resend. I did so within 2 hours of hanging up. I called my case manager a few days later. I left a message. I've not heard back until today's request for a 4th round of documents. From a different address, Chase has also informed me that they have initiated foreclosure.
On Monday I'll return my documents. I will send as many emails and letters of complaint as I can find addresses for. I will also see a recommended bankruptcy attorney about filing Chapter 13 to halt the foreclosure process. They're organized so that only the most persistent and diligent applicants even get a shot at the modification process. I've been watching the "Chasing Madoff" documentary. I confess I've become jaded.

My email is ** and I am interested in a class action lawsuit. I have read just a few of these, and so far, I relate; but think with me, Chase went above and beyond to make sure I got foreclosed on. Three years this has dragged on. I originally moved for my job and had my home rented at the peak of the housing market. As the market kept going down, my renters could no longer make the rent, and Chase told me initially I could remodify my loan to make the payments cheaper. After 3 months of my efforts in the remodification paperwork, I was declined since it was not my primary residence. So, I was stuck in a loan paying 7.25% while everyone else got some relief. I held on as long as I could and started drowning as I had two payments to keep up with.
Chase sent me foreclosure paperwork, and I asked my renters to move out not knowing when it would be. Now comes the fun part. Chase went a year asking me for payments as I pleaded with them I did not want to lose the home, but they would not help me. Finally, someone informed me I could short sale the property, and I was blown away - this was never mentioned before. Anyway, after 2 years of sending more and more updated paperwork and no real offers on the home, Chase finally set a date for foreclosure. At this point, I conceded and thought I would deed my house back to them, which again needed more of the same paperwork, but I would avoid foreclosure.
Several weeks before the sale was to take place, a real written offer came in based on the appraisal price of Feb. 2012. They said we still had a chance to sell it via short sale, and I was optimistic (stupid me). We sent all the needed paperwork in by the 1st of August, and the rep at Chase said we would not get an answer for 4-6 weeks as that’s what time it took for the USDA to review the information. 3 weeks after I sent in the paperwork, I called the Chase rep - Denise is her name (horrible) - and she promised me over the recorded phone call she would get my stuff in by Friday that week. We have already made the buyers wait three extra weeks now since it sat on her desk. I waited another 10 days, and when I called in the next time, she still did not submit our stuff and once again promised to do it by week’s end.
I called at the end of the next week and flipped out when she said it still was not submitted. An entire month and the stupid idiot still did not turn our stuff in. I was livid. Once she did finally submit it in September, the 6-month expiration on the appraisal had passed, and now we had to wait on another appraisal to come in. Well, the price of the home had miraculously increased 13% in value in 6 months. Now, we have to call the buyers and tell them their offer is not high enough due to the horrible appraisal we got, yet Chase never did question the huge difference in price. The buyers upped their offer, and Chase tells us last week we were a few hundred dollars from an acceptable offer and nothing could be done to avoid foreclosure.
The house was appraised for $37,500 in Feb. and $41,900 in September. We owed around $49K. The buyers submitted an offer for $41,500, and it was turned down. Friday, the bank shows up at the sale with an opening bid of $28,475! No one bid on it, and now they are coming after me for the balance when they could have sold it twice over. Not to mention, I was going to deed the house back to them prior to the short sale to avoid foreclosure. But since I had an offer come in, and they delayed everything and would not be specific to what price they needed, I was foreclosed on after all I have done to avoid it. They didn’t even mention the fact I was close to deeding the house back to them 2 months earlier so I did not get foreclosed on.
This is actually a short version as Chase has lied and delayed over the last 2 years to cause this whole mess. They have a responsibility to me to help get rid of this home, and they made sure that very thing did not happen. There is so much to this story, but I will save it for another day. Anyone that knows how to go after these pieces of trash, please let me know. I have stressed for 3 years about this and no reason to stop now. Contact me as I have documentation of their lack of concern to help me with this home and so does my realtor.

I have contacted Chase multiple times and received no response regarding my issues pertaining to taxes being lowered and penalties I incurred for Chase making a late payment on my behalf. In terms of the taxes being lowered, they should have immediately reflected this in my future payments, and they have not. As for the penalties, I pay in a prompt fashion and should not be penalized several hundred dollars because Chase did not submit payment timely. I contacted Customer Service, and while a rep, Paige **, apologized profusely, she then ceased responding to my inquiries as well. I did not want to go with Chase, but my mortgage was sold to them. I am absolutely shocked as to business practices and ethics.

I am a sociologist (Ph.D. UC Berkeley) attempting to assist a senior (76 years old, with a history of stroke and no college education) with loan modification. After filling out one loan mod form and sending it in, she received a letter telling her that she was missing some information. I could not understand what was missing. We called Chase; they insisted we fill out a whole new form because a couple of boxes were not checked. I asked if we could answer over the phone. They said no. Then they told us a "non-borrower authorization form" was required for her daughter to fill out. Where to find this form? Online! I replied, "The family has no computer." The reply, "Tell her to go to the library." I replied, "She has mobility problems, walks with a cane and had never used a computer." They could not care and insisted they could not send the form to her.
After calling them and searching online, I found the form, which is labeled "authorization to obtain consumer credit report." If I, with all my education, have difficulty with their system, it seems well nigh impossible for most seniors and others to navigate. They are not consumer-friendly. Seniors are facing more foreclosures and Chase and other banks are accelerating the process of home loss.

After sending in the required paperwork numerous times, Chase finally received them July 21st, 2012. On Monday, July 23, I spoke with a male and he said that everything was received. He explained to me everything was taken care of; the dispute, he said, was approved. I asked him at this time should I pay and wait for the reimbursement. He put me on hold for a moment and came back and told me I won’t have to pay it back at all. That it was taken care of. I then received a letter stating the charge is valid. I then spoke with Christine on August 6 and she stated that the dispute was not finished and she was confused as well.
A supervisor, Lara ** was difficult to speak with after not trying to listen to my issue; I asked for "someone that will listen to me" and she replied, "That is not going to happen." My husband and are upside down on our home and we decided to do a loan mod since we are struggling every month. I read horrible reviews from customers who have been through the loan mod process with Chase, so I already had a sour taste in my mouth. We filled out the packet, which was basically our whole life story, and all its business. We faxed it over and then we were told that they needed more from us. We were already a few months behind on payments and Chase came at us so aggressively to the point to where they even sent someone to our home. We had only missed two payments. To spare ourselves the hassle and the harassment, we scraped together every last cent we had to catch on our missed payments.
When we were asked for more info for the load mod, I just got fed up and told the rep to just cancel it. Now, it's the fifth day of September and they are already calling to see where this month’s payment is. It’s the fifth day of the month! I had just sent it off today! They are nuts! They have no intention of helping their customers out. We plan on moving out of state next year so they can shove the house up their rears! Chase bought our mortgage from the bank we originally had the loan with, so I did not volunteer to do business with them and I will never do business with them again. And their customer service sucks!

She and I got married in May 26, 2007, and from 2002 to 2008, we had already paid $43,200 with monthly payments at $600. Now, this quote is more than what I come out with because I did not add the cents. In 2009 alone, we paid out $7,020 at $585 monthly payments. In 2010, Jan. and March paid out $1,755 with monthly payments of $585. In 2010, April to Dec. paid out $4,856 with monthly payments of $607. In 2011, Jan. to July paid out $3,618 with monthly payments of $603. From 2002 to 2011, July-Oct., all of this added up to $60,449. Now on the payment schedule at that time of the year, Oct. 01, 2011, the balance on our monthly note is supposed to be $60,444.35, and we have paid that amount in our home already!
In 2011, Nov. to Dec. paid out $1,206 with monthly payments of $603. In 2012, Jan. to Aug. paid out $4,840 with monthly payments of $605.00. I went online and filled out all the loan modification paperwork and sent it in. I received a FedEx a couple of days later saying they were missing paperwork. I sent in the paperwork again and got a notice of foreclosure. I called and was told, "Don't worry, that is part of the process." I faxed in paperwork at least ten times. Each time, I received a notice in the mail from a customer service rep saying to call, this is not all the paperwork.
In the meantime, I was $2,500 in the hole. This went on from December to April of 2012. Finally I got a letter stating that I did not qualify due to credit report. I wish I could refinance, but they have ruined my credit. In the end, I sent over $5,000 to Chase because of their incompetence. I don't think anyone knows what they are doing there. They are not concerned with helping their customers. I wrote to the attorney general and the comptrollers. So many people and no one ever helped me.

Calls were from the Philippines with heavy accents and scripts, no help. Finally, I got to talk to "executive office". I had high hopes. That was 20 months ago. I've sent every paper they asked for, then no contact from them, not ever. I called them having to speak to a different person every time and I'm told they need something else or they can't put my name on the loan. Plus, they can't give me any info because my name is not on the loan. Duh, I want to make payments or find payoff. I want to settle this but they won't allow it. It is crazy. I have enclosed the most recent communication regarding the account. We have a 30-year fixed interest-only account that Chase Bank took over during the melt down with WAMU.
We have a case manager, Joyce **, who resolved the matter (telephone number **). Ms. ** was assigned to sort out the mess by Chase Bank. I have personally called Ms. ** on many occasions to stay on top of the account. Back in May, Joyce ** asked me to increase my monthly payment by $425.46, so I sent in May 15, 2012 $3498.53. I was told that this would make my account current. US Bank, my personal bank, sent my monthly mortgage as well making the payment $6654.41. On seeing this error, I called Joyce ** explaining the double payment and that my July payment had been made and my next payment on August 15 would make the account in balance. On July 27, 2012, I received the enclosed letter thanking me for my timely payments. Then out of the blue, I received a stream of paper telling me that the mortgage account is past due.
I called Joyce ** this morning, 8/12/2012, explaining the same thing was happening again - that funds have been taken out to repay an escrow account that I do not have, that I have communications from Chase Bank telling me that they made the error and that it had been corrected. The current situation is that Chase Bank have taken money from my account ** and put it in an escrow account that I do not have. I am beyond angry and frustrated with Chase Bank. It took Chase nearly 3 months to refinance their own loan for us. We thought the loan officer was incredibly incompetent. Promise after promise that our loan docs would be ready the next day. When we finally gave up and went on vacation to Las Vegas, we got a frantic call from our loan officer saying the loan docs would be ready that afternoon and for us to come in and sign. We informed him (again) that we were in Las Vegas. He was arranging for someone to come to our hotel room to notarize documents for us. We said no, we will be back in town in two days and we'll sign them then. We made an appointment to sign.
We got back into town, showed up for our appointment and guess what? You're right, no loan documents. It was another two weeks before we finally got the documents. We had our home loan with Chase since 2004 and refinanced in 2012. So, we had a long history with Chase. The underwriting process is a complete joke. I don't think they have anyone in their organization that has more than 15 days experience. Every time a period was changed in the contract, the loan had to go back to underwriting. Unbelievable incompetence.
At least we thought so until we actually sold our home a few months later. The new buyer went through Wells Fargo. We ran into the same problem. Every week, it was the news that the loan documents would be there that day and then zilch. The new buyer went on vacation and everyone was going to send the loan documents to him where he was vacationing. Nope. No loan documents. It's a week and 1/2 since he's been back and still no loan documents. We're heading towards 90 days on a 60 day escrow with no end in sight. How the hell do these people stay in business? We will be buying another home but we will save up and pay cash before I will give these people another dime of my business.

I just read the article about Steve ** trying to keep his home from foreclosure. I don't know how old the article was, but we are living the same nightmare. I've tried contacting Oklahoma’s governor, our senators - any and every official. I've contacted our attorney general's office who said contact the OCC, which I've done and nothing came of it. I've contacted Fannie Mae, FCC, and the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection. I've emailed the White House and even a judge in Boston who is going to let a plea from other homeowners who are fighting Chase Bank go through. It seems like no one wants to fight a corporate giant like Chase, even though they are wrong!
Here's our story. My name is Allen **. I am a husband and father of 3. I got laid off at my job back in July of 2010. I fell behind on my mortgage payment by a few months. I called to see what options I had to catch up. Chase recommended I modify my loan. It sounded great. I got a new job and started the modification process. I called every Monday to see how things were going and if I could go ahead and start making my payments. They said, "No, you can't make any payments while you’re going through modification." My biggest worry was were gonna get further behind. You can't live in a house for free. I stayed on top of our modification process. I faxed papers over and over again because each time I called they would tell me that I didn't fax something. I would argue with them, but had no choice but to refax papers. Next thing I know I'm in foreclosure! Plus, the legal paper said there was a court date we didn't show up for. We were never notified of a court date. We never even knew our home was in foreclosure. We thought we were in modification!
I called Chase. They proceeded to tell me that this was just a process. There is no sale date, just ignore it. Then we get a denial letter a few weeks later. I'm back in foreclosure pending a sale date. This has been a repetitive process going on 3 years now. I have even gone as far as calling my congressman. They actually called me back and said they would check into this and a week later I get a notification that we have been approved for modification - if we make 3 trial payments on time. We did and we tried to pay a 4th payment and they sent it back - twice! Then we got the so-called modification in the mail. Our payment changed by $50.00 and the interest rate was completely wrong.
We signed the agreement anyways because we didn't want to lose our home. Chase then informed us that they never received our signed agreement and therefore the modification is null and void and we are in foreclosure. We called to dispute it because why would we pay those trial payments if we had no intention of sending in a signed agreement?! Once again we reapplied for modification. This has been ongoing every three months. We are denied for one reason or another. Either we didn't send in a paper or we don't have change of income. We have piles of papers where we have complied with everything Chase has asked for.
We started calling and emailing anyone that would help us, including the Chase CEO Jamie Damion. We got a response. He was gonna see to it himself that this gets fixed. All he did was assign it to someone else and the repetitive paper trail started again. The new assigned worker suggested the Making Home Affordable program. They did nothing to help us. We are now going on our 4th so-called modification, owing even more money because they won't let us make any payments on our mortgage. The past due payments are so high we will never be able to catch up.
We've suffered embarrassment by being in the paper for foreclosure several times. We have been served court papers with several sheriff’s sale dates. We have people out there taking pictures of our home. Our credit scores are ruined because of Chase reporting us for not paying. They told us not to. All we need is someone to help us. We have over 2 years of paper trail showing our compliance with Chase. I have done every single thing asked of you. All we want is our payments back to normal and no more modification because you’re screwed by not being able to make payments. We are now almost $30,000.00 behind and each time they put us back in foreclosure we get more of their attorney’s fees on top of our past due payment.
Chase has already ruined our credit with foreclosure and our credit scores are so low because of this. I don't see how anyone else will even help us. I need someone to please stop and help us defeat this injustice. I'm writing the President of the United States, Congress and whoever else I can hopefully get to help me and my family. The modifications are useless. I don't believe there are underwriters because I can't seem to speak to one of them. Everyone assigned to our case just sends us to someone else. I have papers of lies from Chase. One says we denied modification from them after being approved - that’s not true nor can they prove that! Another said we didn't make our first trial payment. Not only is that a lie, but we made four!
Please google Chase Bank modifications and read the stories just like mine. There are hundreds of the same stories, even a huge class action lawsuit out of Boston where the judge has denied Chase Bank’s plea. Something needs to change to help Americans like myself who work hard to provide a nice life for their family. The stress this has caused my family the past two years is overwhelming. To feel like we will be homeless with 3 children and a wife is very scary. Please just help us to get a payment book so we can make monthly payments. Please.

The representative was very nasty. When I contacted the representative, he was also nasty to me. The homeowner finally called him and explained that he was unable to pay for an extension. The representative whose name I will not disclose, told him either pay or they will start the foreclosure procedure! First of all, I have never heard of a lender asking for upfront money to extend a short sale, and second of all, I thought that they would rather assist in a short sale than have the property foreclosed. I've provided them with every requested document either on the same day or a day later at the most. My loan application has been given the runaround from underwriting to the project approval group. I've been asked for ridiculous things that aren't even required under my current mortgage and had to tell them what they're asking for isn't something I need to give them.
After about two weeks or so, they then acquiesce realizing I was right. No matter what I give them, they keep coming back with more requests for silly items. It's as if 1) they're making up stuff as they go along; 2) the people there are just incompetent; 3) they're looking for ways to reject me and I'm not sure why or 4) all of the above. I'm this close to moving on to another bank but I'm not sure if I'd get the same great rate as I locked in my rate in the beginning of June 2012. Some of the requests weren't clear as to what they wanted either. Then, there were multiple requests for things as well, after I had already complied. The person, who took over the processor's work when she was out for a day, called me and said I wouldn't be charged, since I had replied to her requests in a reasonable amount of time. However, it's been over a week since I've had any contact again.
I've called, and only once did someone reply to my messages. One person's voice mail was full. I e-mailed a supervisor 2 weeks ago, and I got no reply. The thing is, I've had my mortgage with Chase for the past couple years and I paid on time. My credit rating is excellent. I don't need a loan modification or more money. I applied for modification in 2009. I was approved by Chase. I have original modification application signed by me and Chase with schedule of payments, length of modification, etc. The agreement is fully executed by me and Chase. Chase stopped accepting my payments in Jan. 2011. I called customer service for four months (January - April) and everyone told me that my modification was in maintenance. No one could explain what that meant and that was why I hadn't received a statement and was told just to keep sending my payments as usual.
In March 2011, I received a letter of acceleration and in April a letter of foreclosure even though they were still telling me that my loan was in maintenance and that it was just a computer error. I retained an attorney. He sent a letter to Chase in April 2011. Since time passed and it was already December 2011, my attorney said we were going to sue for Quiet Title. At that time, Chase said that there was a discrepancy between my original loan documents and the documents I submitted for the modification. They sent copies of my original loan documents to my attorney and we came to find out that my original documents were falsified by the loan officer from Chase. He falsified a bank statement of an account that I never had with a bank that I never had an account with. You can clearly see that the information was copied and pasted.
They falsified my W2 form saying I was making over $100k when I wasn't. I totally denied this paperwork and sent my attorney what I gave to Chase. I still had my originals, thank God. My attorney asked them to present the original loan documents, i.e., the bank statement they falsified as well as the original W2 form. We asked for this back in April 2012. They said that they did not have to provide the documents and wanted to reinstate my modification. We submitted a settlement agreement based on that and they never responded. My attorney demanded again the original loan documents. Now they are saying that they want to reinstate my original loan, not the modification, without supplying the original documents we requested.

As I would save more than $400/month by refinancing, I moved forward with their offer. They charged me $410 and then pretty much ignored me after that. I had to call them repeatedly to keep the process moving. It took 4 weeks for the appraiser to actually contact me to schedule the onsite visit. I never received a copy of the appraisal (which they said I would) and I was then denied the loan. I have never even been late on a payment and apparently, they believe I'm capable of paying the higher mortgage but not the lower premium option. My home is valued at 3 times my loan amount and I have excellent credit. Bottom line, don't buy into the "you are pre-approved" marketing campaign they are on, it's simply a way for them to make an extra buck off their customers.

This complaint consists of a few parts. Today, for the third time, a man came to my house to try and collect my mortgage payment. I am 2 months behind. When I told the man I did not want to reveal details of my mortgage agreement to a stranger, he became abusive, tried to force his way into my home, and then blocked my driveway with his truck and would not leave, shouting that he would be back when he finally did leave.
Today is Sunday and Chase is closed and I cannot speak to anyone there. I have asked them not to trespass before and not to send abusive individuals to my home to terrorize me and my daughter. I have spoken with their representatives too many times to count, letting them know that we are slowly making progress in catching up the two months and will continue to do so.
They call here about 10 times a day, even though I have asked them repeatedly not to. Each person either does not record that they spoke to me or pretends they don't know what is going on so that I need to start from the beginning. Additionally, I have sent in 3 packages for MHA and HARP. They rejected the first for no reason and I had to start over, then even though I gave them the UPS tracking for the next two, they pretend they never received them and tell me to start over again. I have had to request the paperwork 3 times before they will even send me out a package and now, I have given up as they deny receiving them, even when UPS tracking shows they arrived at Chase.
I find these business practices unethical, and in the case of the trespasser, probably illegal. I have his license plate number and am considering calling the police to report today's incident, unless I receive in writing from Chase that no one else will come to my home, and that the new Re-fi package I received yesterday (court ordered by the attorney general) will not also go missing if I turn it in. It costs me money to make all of the photocopies, etc. I want them to stop calling me as well.

When re-financing my home with Chase, I had to get SLS involved because of a second mortgage with them. After answering thousands of questions, the customer care representative advised me that I had a $20+ balloon payment due at the end of 10 years, which I knew nothing about and was not aware of being told of a balloon payment. I have been paying on this loan for 5 years already, $27,000 remaining balance at $282.87 monthly payment. Is there anything I can do to avoid the balloon payment since this is obviously a fraudulent creative loan?

I'm not asking for a handout like they did. I just need some help reducing my monthly payments so that I can have a bit of breathing room. I'm not behind on my mortgage. I have excellent credit ratings and still, they want to play games. Did they have to provide a "hardship letter" when the American people bailed them out?

I have had issues due to health and my husband's job has had issues with hours and more. We have tried to get back on our feet, but every time we get close, my health takes a beating. We have fought for seven years with Chase. They refuse to lock us in a rate. They have given new meaning to yo-yo mortgage interest rates, from as low as 4.5% to as high as 12% since we have been stuck with them. They bought out our former mortgage company, gave us no ability to choose, and no ability to protest. They also have no method toward filing a complaint. I am to the point, and my husband too, of suing them for breach of contract. A contract, by the way, which we didn't even get to sign when they bought out our mortgage. Is it possible to blast them out of the water? Or do we get caught in their BS riptide? By the way, they don't deserve stars, they deserve dunce caps.

I attempted a couple of years ago to modify my second mortgage I have with Chase because my mother who resides in the property along with my siblings was injured at work and has been unable to work and it has been putting a strain on me financially. Anyway, I was denied because it was not my primary resident. I continued to keep up with the payments draining my savings, so now I have not been able to keep up and had fallen behind. I requested once again for some help stating that this was not my primary but it was my family's primary so I never once claimed it to be mine.
Needless to say, after months of faxing pages of paperwork with little or no communication from Chase, it took eight months to be told I was being denied for failure to prove it was my primary home! Seriously! From day one, I explained the whole scenario and stated that it was not my primary, but that it was my family's! The denial letter stated that I had 30 days to respond for further help! I called within the week and was told that they now have a new program to help people like myself and was advised to reapply for that program.
So once again, I did fax 50 pages to the fax line that was provided to me. I immediately called to confirm that my package was received but was told that the person handling my case was on vacation so I left a message asking for a return call and nothing over the next several weeks. I left several message and again nothing! After about six weeks, I finally received a call back only to be told that one, my package was never received, and two, there was nothing they can do for me because they have charged off my account! **! He then stated that my account was charged off only 7 days from the day my modification was denied but yet the letter states I had 30 days. And when I spoke to them, it had only been about 10 days and at no point was I ever told about the charge off!
These people are a bunch of lying ** idiots and care nothing about helping their customers! Now, I'm not sure what is going to happen. I was told now I just have to wait until someone contacts me. What a joke!

I am a disabled senior citizen with a fixed income, and because my funds are very tight, I asked Chase to refinance my mortgage. Chase denied the refinance due to my limited funds and because the property is not owner occupied. Yet, they said that I would qualify for a loan modification. They sent me the forms which I faxed back along with all the documentation requested. Three weeks later, they called me to say that they were missing some documents, the same which I had previously faxed, and which I re-faxed anyway. A couple of weeks later, they again called me, to say they were missing information, again, the same information I had faxed not once but twice already. I asked them to search further and the documents were “found”. I received three other calls, requesting the same darn information.
All three times I requested they look further and the documents were there. In the end, the loan modification was denied because, guess what? They were still “missing” one of the documents, which I had faxed multiple times, and because the house was not owner occupied, which Chase knew from the beginning. It’s now obvious to me that they offered me the loan modification just to comply with the law but never intended to approve it. Chase made me go through hell and back for three months for nothing, and this has aggravated my health and complicated my life immensely. Can anybody tell me what my options are?

We’ve been paying our taxes through escrow with Chase. For 4 years, Chase "forgot" to pay our taxes on our one lot. Our name was in our local paper for years as "non-payment of taxes" (which we didn't find out until 3 months ago). We received a letter from the city of Kingston telling us that they were going to seize our land for non-payment and that is what started our "HARP" nightmare! Chase's solution to the tax problem was to add it to our mortgage every month. I explained that we could barely afford what we pay now and asked about the HARP refinancing program. They put me in touch with a loan processor and everything was going well, we were approved, paid the fee and were waiting for our closing date.
A woman from Chase that we were dealing with for the refinancing was our information person. We started this in April and were told by May 1st we should have a closing date and then a few more days went by, then some more. We got nervous, the closing date had been postponed and by May 15th we weren't sure what to do about our May mortgage payment. They told us at the beginning not to pay May mortgage because we would be closing. We called our go to lady and asked what to do. She told us that she can't tell us not to pay, but it would slow down our closing if we did. So, we thought she knew what talking about and waited. Our closing dates of May 23rd, 25th, 28th and 31st went by with no closing.
Chase called my husband that Friday night at 6pm and said we had to make our payment for May for this to happen. We hung up, made the payment online and waited. Monday, Chase called; we were late with our payment so we aren’t qualified for the HARP program! It almost seems like they set us up! Now, not only do we not qualify, but now were a month behind and our credit is going to be shot. They don't care. They don't answer their phones and if their voice mail picks up, it’s full and can't take a message. We went into this thinking, worst case scenario, we don't get refinanced, thanks to Chase and their bad advice, we aren't getting refinanced, were a month behind in mortgage and our credit is going to be crap!

Chase is the owner of my mortgage. I recently attempted to refinance my mortgage through the HARP program. Unfortunately, at this time, I feel that Chase is taking advantage of my financial hardship. I recently signed paperwork to refinance my mortgage. The initial terms of this agreement was to receive a 3.85% interest rate with a closing cost of $3,112.65 and a $395.00 processing fee. When I returned to facility the day following the offer to pay the $395.00 processing fee as agreed, I was told by the staff that the interest rate had changed to 4.125% and the closing cost remained the same at $3,112.65. Even though the interest rate was higher than what I discussed the day prior, I did agree to refinance at the 4.125% rate with closing cost of $3,112.65.
At that time, I signed the agreement and paid the processing fee. A few weeks later, I received by mail the good faith estimate. To my surprise and dismay, the new proposed closing costs on the document is for $8,165.95. I was charged $2,035.65 for the points and $6,1303.00 for the closing costs. I was charged for points that are close to almost double the market interest rate and closing costs that are double what was agreed upon initially. A month later and I am still waiting for the money (application fee) from the Chase Bank.

In 2008, one of my property tax bills was sent apparently to my ex-husband and not to me. I paid my school taxes and my part of the county taxes that I received. In March of 2008, I received a letter from Chase that they had paid a $695.00 tax bill and were starting an escrow account for me. I called and wrote a letter based on my conversation with them to pay the $695.00, which they charged me $792.00(?), which I paid and sent a letter explaining the circumstances and requested my escrow account responsibility be returned to me.
I have never missed a house payment, still have an escrow account and Chase said I am 2 months behind on my mortgage. I have hired an attorney and they refused to communicate with her on any level. We just keep getting the runaround over and over. A forensic accounting has been requested, a minimum of 11 times thus far and Chase refuses to rectify my account. I have received foreclosure notices from them since around November of 2008. Chase has no business being in any fiduciary position and I will keep fighting them to make them withdraw their bogus claims on my account. I am so upset with them that trying to type a decent account of my issues is difficult. I think a national class action suit could force them to get their paperwork straight. Four years of dealing with complete idiots has worn me down to a pile of nerves.

Chase, in direct violation of federal law, 1) falsified documents; 2) changed my self from mortgagor, borrower, and guarantor to non-applicant title holder; 3) falsified the property description; 4) closed all of my accounts; 5) forbade me to enter or be on Chase property worldwide; 6) refused to discuss this mortgage or the illegal lien placed on another property; and 7) informed me that an account at Chase is voluntary after closing the accounts. My initial mortgage was with another bank. Chase bought it. Our next mortgage was with another lender. Chase bought it. With our next mortgage (My wife qualified for a government subsidy.), Chase would not voluntarily release it to another lender.
8) Chase sent notices and promotions that Chase would pay for all fees, and 9) Chase would not open the account for payment until all but $12.87 of the $8000.00, specifically intended for principal reduction, was stolen by Chase. (That $12 was not enough to cover the daily interest.) And 10) Chase has committed many breaches of contract. 11) One year after informing Chase, not one recognition or solution was afforded. 12) Our loan payoff was $89.5K, and our "new loan" amount was $91.2K.
If I (or any individual citizen) have falsified documents for a mortgage and stole this amount of money from Chase, I would be prosecuted for several felonies and most likely be in prison. So I guess if you are a citizen but work for Chase, you can commit felonies against non-Chasers and also steal non-Chasers' money. There is no accident or a simple error here. It is blatant theft and a felony(ies), by citizens compensated and their (citizen) co-workers covering and knowingly not reporting the crime. I contacted the OK State Attorney-General's Office and was informed to contact the City of Tulsa Attorney office, which told me to contact the police department, which has not responded.

My wife was let go after 20 years and our income dropped significantly. After 3 years of struggle, we were advised to try and get a loan modification. We contacted Chase and filled out all the paperwork and sent it by special mail to make sure it was received. We then received notices that they did not receive all the paperwork. Since I kept a copy, I checked and it was all there. I then faxed it and printed the confirmation that all pages were sent. I received another notice, same thing. This went on and on. I finally called and spoke to a person, after leaving many, many messages with Michael, our supposed contact, he said they were missing several pages of our bank statements. I had him wait on the line and I faxed them directly. He verified receipt and said they would contact me in 4 days.
Of course, they didn't and we received another notice that paperwork was not received. We have left message after message getting no response from Michael and when we do speak to someone, they state that is at tier 2 and should be getting word within the week. No response, so we called again. I can't get a hold of Michael and he doesn't return our calls, so we called someone else. They stated that we should be getting a decision in 2 days. No call or answer so we called again today and we were told that we were rejected because Chase has discontinued the loan modification process! Is this for real? Was this all a scam? What is our recourse? I am truly worried that the bank really just wants us to lose our home.

My husband and I bought our home in May 2006, just before the collapse of the housing market. We were being responsible and bought a home which was least expensive at the time. We have never taken any loans against the house, so through no fault of our own, we are totally underwater. We now owe 50% more on the house than what it is worth. We want to move to be closer to work. We have done everything right - every payment was on time and we were never late. We figured, since we are responsible homeowners, we would ask Chase for a short sale. We listed our house and in less than a week we had a great offer from a potential buyer, but Chase refused the offer in less than one week! Upon checking into how they came to a decision so quickly, we were actually told that they rejected our request for a short sale and the negotiator at Chase admitted he never even looked at our file! We were told that unless our cupboards were bare, they would not help us.
We complained to FHA because we didn't believe Chase was following federal guidelines, but no one would call us back. In order to get answers, we eventually had to submit a complaint to the MN attorney general. We still got nowhere. A month later, we were told we were being charged $452 plus $95 for asking for a short sale. When we complained we were never informed of such costs, the representative said, "We do not disclose these charges to the borrower. You would have to look at your original mortgage documents." Nowhere in their short sale application does it mention such charges! They continue to say we owe this money. They have treated us like garbage and we are good customers! The only way we see out of this is to walk away. Chase is a scary company. Our account online has been altered and they actually call our house and hang up on us! We will likely have to walk away because they won’t help us and are now harassing us. Chase is dangerous. We pray we can get out from under them without them completely destroying us. Even going to the attorney general was pointless. They can have this house. We just want to escape Chase.

Chase committed credit murder on me. I missed one mortgage payment (30 days late) a year ago, and doubled up on the following monthly payment to catch up. Every payment since, has been on time for the full amount. In fact, this is the only payment I have ever missed in more than 20 years. When I applied for a mortgage refinance two weeks ago with a credit union, I discovered that Chase had accused me of multiple late payments, calling it the one missed payment a rolling late. A rolling late is a scam, but Chase says when you miss one payment, all your payments for a year or so are also late.
A key feature of the scam is that Chase never told me. It isn't on the transaction history. It isn't on the statements (no past due amounts, no fees, etc). It wasn't on another credit report when I was shopping for a refinance. It wasn't in any letters from Chase staff when I inquired about other billing issues. It's like the double secret probation from Animal House. You don't know you are in trouble until it is too late. So, the multiple lates on my credit report scared off my lender. Chase refuses to retract the credit report. The local Chase branch staff went to bat for me, but the main office won't budge. Now, I am trying to figure out what I can do. I'm thinking about selling tee-shirts with slogans like, "Chase? Run Like Hell" to get the money to pay them off.

If I could give Chase negative stars, I would. I think even one star is too much for Chase. It started in 2005 when I bought a house and Chase bought the second mortgage. They sent me a welcome letter with my new account number and not another correspondence after that. I started paying them the amount on the letter, to the address on the letter, giving the account number on the letter. I noticed the first few checks were returned with my account number lined out and a different account number written on the check. It turns out they were depositing my checks into my ex-husband's second mortgage account because they didn't have an account with the number I provided. I had them reimburse me the money and requested that they find my second mortgage account. I called them every 2-3 weeks only to be told that they had no account by that number or in my name.
Six months after that, I began to receive foreclosure notices. I called them trying to deal with the fact that I had yet to get a statement for my account and they just demanded money. This went on for another three months before they finally admitted that they messed up the account and supposedly fixed things including my credit report. Several months later as I finally began receiving notices from them regarding my account, I discovered that they changed my fixed rate second mortgage to an adjustable rate HELOC. Again, no one seemed to know what to do to help me and it took another three months to fix the problem. However, they left me with a HELOC account which is not what I should have had. And I was to find out later that the ghost account that does not exist is being reported to the credit bureaus. Some fix.
Recently, in order to get out from under the hell that is Chase, I decided to refinance my house and get rid of the second mortgage. Oh, but they weren't finished with me yet. This time, they actually provided the wrong payoff information to the title company and paid off my ex-husband's second mortgage and not mine. They basically stole $15,000 from me and gave it to my ex-husband. I called them as soon as I received a notice from them about payment on a second mortgage that should have been paid off! They again routed me to the collections department who demanded money and threatened me with bad credit reports and foreclosure. Finally, after several days of trying, I got to a department that could help me. I told them my story and was delayed and was put on hold, and was given reassurances that the problem would be looked into.
They finally, after dealing with this issue a full 5 weeks after I submitted the problem, told me that they have denied my claim to reissue the money into the correct account because: 1) I did not file the claim within 30 days (I did, they stalled); 2) because they deposited the check into the account given on the check by the title company (which was following Chase's original error of giving out the wrong account information to begin with) so they were not liable for the problem; and 3) the already release the lien on the other property which does not belong to me and so, sorry, they were not going to do anything.
Please note that Chase is excellent at saying, "I'm sorry you feel that way but there is nothing we can do," even when they caused the problem to begin with. So now they stole my money, gave it to my ex-husband, and won't fix it. So I wrote a letter to the CEO of Chase. Within a week, I heard from Keya ** in the executive office who knew nothing about this case and thought it was a loan modification. She assured me that she would look into it. Many left messages and lack of return phone calls later (I believe I left 3-4 messages for every return call), I finally found out that Chase has released this matter to outside counsel and there is nothing they can do. This is a full 8 weeks after she got the problem.
Oh, by the way, their outside counsel has gotten 7-8 phone calls and have not returned a single one from the title company that is trying to help me. They got one phone call from me and advised me that the attorney is unavailable and I was shunted to a different counsel who I spoke with last week only to find out that she knew nothing about the problem except that I needed to be issued a new lien (not the case at all. I had to retell her the whole story and get her in touch with my ex-husband whose lien has been released and needed to be reinstated). She has not returned three messages left or the two emails in the last two weeks. This has been going on for over three months! I can no longer access my account online. I am being reported to the credit bureau for nonpayment. And Chase, who provided the wrong account information causing all of this, is doing nothing. I would advise any and all Chase customers to leave as soon as you can. I would advise all others to have nothing to do with Chase.

Chase recorded the alleged foreclosure sale while a restraining order was in place preventing them from doing so. Chase attorneys have argued that they don't have to provide payoff information if they choose not to do so. Chase attorneys have also argued that they do not have any responsibility to deal in good faith.

The only answer I got was it was "company policy". I asked to be shown in my contract where it said I had to send certified funds and apparently there isn't anything in the contract. Chase bought our loan from the company that issued it to us and I guess that gives them the right to make up stupid company policies in order to squeeze money out of borrowers. Also, they want $35 to tell you how much the payout is. Why do I have to go to the additional expense of sending certified funds? In December of 2007, I purchased my home with an 800 credit score and excellent history. In May 2011, my husband was transferred and we had to move to Mobile, AL. Because I purchased my home in the height of the market and the value had decreased by less than the current amount of my mortgage, we made the decision to rent our home. In September 2011, our renters skipped out and we began to struggle with the payment. As of December 15th, we paid a rental agency to rent our home out and got new renters. Since that time, we have been working diligently on making this right. I tried the modification program which after almost six months was told I do not qualify. So my next step was to call the payment center to work out arrangements. I was told today that I can pay $4300 today and $5700 for June and $2600 for July to have everything caught up. I said I would make the payment today of $4300 but just split the difference with me for June and July. I cannot come up with $5700 for June, but spread it out over June and July and I can be caught up in two months. Done, everything fine.
But Chase would not allow that. So because they're not splitting the June and July payment, they are threatening to foreclose on my home and will take no additional payments from me. I can't even make a payment if I tried. I made a payment on May 1st, again, on May 10th and had a scheduled payment on May 15th but Chase actually returned the payment on May 10th. They would not even take my money as I tried to catch up my account. It is no wonder there is such a problem with the economy when you have mortgages not wanting to help the people that are wanting to keep out of foreclosure, work out realistic payment plans, and save the banks and borrowers a lot of money. We all lose when you have these types of situations.

Finally, the loan amount to value came in at where I needed to be. I sent in the request, but just like all the other times, I was denied. They then said I could send in a check for $150.00, and they would send their appraiser out to look at the house and do computations in the area. I did. I watch the area of my home and saw what the houses are selling for. I even follow Zillow (which I know is not even close to valuing the homes but is a good gauge).
I owe about $169K. Zillow is around $215K. My appraisal came back at $151k. What a joke. They took the lowest computations they could find. I received my property tax bill 3 days later, and the county values it at $169K. I am aware that realtors and mortgage people use this number x 1.25 to get an idea of the value of a home. That would put the value at $210k. Once again, Chase wants to take your money but will not work with you to reduce any payments. They find loopholes or any reason they can. By the way, my credit score is excellent and I have never been late on a mortgage payment. This just stinks. Has anyone else had similar dealings with Chase? A friend of mine is going through a lawsuit with Chase. He had to get a lawyer, before Chase would even start to look over his mortgage.

I own an insurance agency in Connecticut. To go back to the beginning, we worked with many banks when the mortgagee pays the homeowners insurance from the escrow account. In December 2001, we requested that Chase send us a check for a renewal made out to our agency. They sent it to us made out to Lloyds of London at 1 World Trade Center in New York. I could not cash it to forward the net premium to the carrier and had anyone there seen the news, they would have realized that as of September 11, 2001, there was no 1 World Trade Center.
Several years later, I needed payment for two policies. Again, they mailed me the checks made out to the incorrect parties and jeopardized coverage for our mutual clients. They told me I was not set up in the system and it took longer to get payments than they had said. I was told that they would overnight the checks, but found out that this meant it had to be sent to another department for approval, which took more time. Their idea of overnight took a week. Subsequently, Chase started to call my agency to verify coverage for loans all over the country. I explained to them that we service only Connecticut and are not affiliated with any other agency. If they have the name Insurance Problem Solvers, then their information is wrong. I googled the name and we are the only one that comes up.
After explaining this to literally 100 of their people, I then decided to ask the people they have verifying coverage what state the home was in. If it was not Connecticut, I just said we do not handle anything outside of our state. After this persisted, I asked which state and rather than wasting my time, I just hung up. Then they just started sending me checks. I called them the first few times and they asked me to send them back, which I did. After the first few times, I called and asked if I could just mark them void and fax them the copies. They said, “No, you must mail them back.”
I brought two or three down to the local branch and pleaded with them to make this stop. I was told that they would try, but the bank and the mortgage company has minimal connection. I told them that I am absolutely irate and would just shred the checks from this point forward. If I could only find a way to legally cash the checks to be compensated for my time. In the meantime, I continue to shred them and hang up whenever they call. I hope that someone from Chase is monitoring this website. I just wish it would stop.

Chase is cheating people. 2009 and 2010, I had two almost back to back surgeries and was late paying my 2009 taxes. I never missed a house payment until Chase refused my house payments. Then Chase paid my taxes and the reason they gave for their action was I was delinquent with the taxes. I was not delinquent with the taxes. Late, yes. We went through a lot of harassing phone calls, their representatives making smart remarks to me, calling everyday (7 days a week) several times a day, even up to 10:00PM at night to where I finally had to take out my home phone. I paid my taxes as agreed with Chase stating pay the taxes and everything goes back to the way it was. I sent them a certified letter that had to be signed.
After receiving the 2009 taxes, they informed me that I could not have my house payments back the way they were because I did not have home insurance. I then proceeded to argue with them, telling them I had home insurance but they kept saying no home insurance. They lied and one of their representatives informed me that "no one would touch Chase because we are the biggest bank in the United States". He was telling me they could do whatever they wanted, no one was going to stand in their way. Not even the federal government. Well, they then started to try to force me into a loan modification. I refused to sign anything informing them that they violated a legal binding contract. This is still ongoing in 2012. They have finally acknowledged I had home insurance and then proceeded to place that with the escrow account, which I never had with them.
I have been with several different companies that has put me through the loan modification program with Chase denying it every single time. Chase has placed me in foreclosure and refusing to do anything except to continue to deny my rights as a citizen. Chase destroyed my credit so I could not get a loan with someone else and get the loan (bought from Ameriquest) from Chase. Chase started refusing my house payment in 2011. They had informed my present group helping to resolve this issue that the reason they paid my taxes is because I was in loan modification. I had to go and dig out the letters from Chase stating I was delinquent with my taxes for 2009. I am wondering if one of the reasons Chase is allowed to get away with cheating people is because Obama placed the guys (who were in charge when the banking system went under) over the federal finances or this was stated in a documentary.
No one cares about honesty and fairness in the government, it appears. I was told once by a person who worked for the federal government that the government system is "scratch my back and I will scratch your back". Or am I wrong on this? Chase will never settle anything unless it is to their benefit and like Mike, one of their representatives, told me "we are the biggest bank in the United States and no one will ever go up against us". All I ask for is honesty and honor the legal contract. Obama wants us to have financial freedom, but will not help stop Chase from cheating people out of their homes. These same banks were bailed out with our money. I am beginning to believe that we can not win unless we have the money to back us like they have.
They don't care who they destroy, only how much money they can get for their bank and their bonuses for cheating people. I will probably be losing my home within the next year because Chase knows they can wait us out and still get whatever they want. I have had this home since 1990. Will anybody listen to us? I know I am one of thousands who Chase and other banks have cheated or not dealt honestly with but once again, how do you fight against a big financial institute that knows they will get what they want and no one to stop them from doing what they do? Chase representatives laughed and bragged about this. I am puzzled why the media does not do a report on this? I want to know why no one will stop Chase and others like Chase from cheating the people?

I began a loan modification years ago. I went one year with hearing. They didn't have all the paperwork. I continued to submit the same information that they requested over and over again, each time they told me they didn't receive it. After I contacted the CEO office of Chase, I had a decision in three months. However, instead of helping me out and lowering my payment, they raised it from $1600 to $2200. How does this help me? It does not. I was a divorced single mother and did not want to lose my home, so I stopped paying other bills and paid for my home. I was forced to file bankruptcy in 2010. My attorney did my paperwork and I was keeping my home. Chase did not allow me to do the reaffirm, however, never told me or my attorney.
A year later my ex-husband filed bankruptcy and was told that my house was never reaffirmed. I was on time with my payments and signed my reaffirm form and it was given to Chase; however, they failed to tell me they were not reaffirming me because I was divorced and my husband, who had nothing to do with the house, was not reaffirming. The thing is he would've for me if Chase had told us. But a year had gone by and Chase said they would not do it now. So, since I was paying an outrageous payment and getting no credit on my credit report, my attorney told me the house was in my BK. So rather than continuing to strap myself, I let it go.
I have since then tried to do a deed in lieu, yet still I have not gotten a response from them. It's as if they want me to foreclose. I never wanted to do this. They forced it on me. Had they given me the loan mod back 4 years ago when I ask, I never would've even had to file a BK, but they made things worse for me. Now I have lost my home completely, and I was current when this all started. Chase is 100% to blame for this happening. I contacted Chase right away and after several months were told we could do a loan repayment so after 4 months, I would be caught up, great. I took the agreement (paying $300 more per month). I received the paperwork and sent it back in. I paid my 1st payment via Western Union and guess what, I received a letter from Chase stating that it was late and the repayment agreement was now cancelled.
I contacted Chase, they told me the letter was sent by mistake, and to continue payment as scheduled. I requested something in writing, stating I was still enrolled in the repayment and was refused the letter, stating they don't send anything out after the initial agreement. I went ahead and sent in my 2nd payment and then the 3rd month realized my payments were being held, not applied to the loan unless I paid the full past due amount. I then filed all the paperwork for a modification and over the past 3 years, I have had to fax and send the same paperwork at least 15 times.
I have a VA backed loan and the last response was that we didn't qualify because 12 months of payments hasn't been made on the loan. Well, yes it was but wasn't applied. Our VA rep contacted Chase because Chase did not follow the law for VA loans. The driver who hit us was under-insured and because of the nature and extent of the injuries we sustained in the accident, my wife's employer released her from her job. Due to the astounding medical bills and the fact that Utah is a "no fault" state, we declared Medical Bankruptcy and filed a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. As a result, our mortgage was assigned to the Bankruptcy Division of Chase Home Finance. That was when the trouble started!
We have spent the past six years battling with the Bankruptcy Division of Chase Home Finance because they have lost or misplaced our mortgage payments on multiple occasions! They accuse us at least four times a year of missing payments and when we provide proof of payment with receipts, they shrug it off as "no big deal"! It is a huge deal to us because they are not only toying with our home, they are toying with our lives! We have lost countless nights of sleep and have encountered more stress than you can imagine because of their blatant disregard for professionalism and propriety! Home ownership used to be the "American Dream", but thanks to Chase Home Finance, it has become nothing short of a living nightmare!
We are continually threatened with foreclosure as a result of their incompetence and inability to perform their end of the mortgage agreement. They lose or misplace our payment records all the time and then have the unmitigated gall to stick their "vulture" attorneys on us because of their incompetence! We have paid them nearly $12,000.00 in addition to our continued mortgage payments and they still claim that we are behind on our payments! I believe the legal term for their actions is commonly referred to as "extortion"!
It is appalling to think that in spite of repeated and continued public outcry, not to mention the huge bailouts they were handed on a silver platter a few years back, they are still allowed to operate when it is obvious to anyone who has ever had to deal with them that they should have their business licensing revoked in all states in the United States!

Read this if you think Chase Unemployment Program is a good deal. You will lose your house: Last year, my wife lost her excellent paying job in a large layoff. We immediately contacted Chase and told them that we would need assistance in paying our mortgage. We were told that because we were current with our mortgage, they could not help us. We were told we need to be 2 months behind. So, we went 2 months behind. We then started getting calls and letters. We filled out the papers for a modification as we were told to do.
About 3 months later, we were approved for a "forbearance" that reduced my payment from $2,300 to $550! They also told us that they were backed up and wouldn’t get the papers to us for a while. We knew this didn’t sound right. We decided to continue paying our mortgage full payment. The papers never came. We filed chapter 7 and cleared all our debts. We were then told by Chase to re-file for the modification. This was in December 2011.
Here we are, in April 2012 and we were denied because we had already filed and Chase wouldn’t allow 2 unemployment programs. After a lot of phone calls and a lot of interaction, Chase realized the mistake they made and said we were right, they never sent us the papers. Yesterday, we were approved. It sounds great. It looks great our mortgage has been reduced to $550 a month for 6 months.
My wife and I have some finance experience. We asked many questions. During the 6 months of low payments, we are responsible for the full amount due. That’s $1,800 a month after we make the low payment. In the 7th month, all money is due. That means we need to come up with $10,800 plus my November payment and the 2 months past due. That means we owe $17,700. We were told that Chase would not extend the unemployment program. We asked about a permanent modification and we told only if my wife were working she would be "considered". No guarantee. We were told that if we could not come up with the money, we would have to short sale the house!
Folks, this plan is just a way for the bank to squeeze us out of the house. A family struggling to pay its bills, trying to lower its payments is not going to be able to come up with $18,000. This is a bad deal, do not go for it. This almost sounds criminal. We still have a little equity in the house. Chase knows that if we are forced to sell, they will get all their money back. We wonder if that’s why Chase isn’t really interested in helping us. Either way they cannot lose.

Chase Mortgage giving the run around: Well, my wife and I bought a home in 2007 at $217K, our very first. We received our mortgage through WAMU and everything was great. In 2009, we were struck with some hardship as I had wanted to return to school and my current job was on a budget freeze also not knowing if I was able to maintain that current job or not, as it was on contract basis. Knowing this, I took up another job not wanting to be put into unemployment or get transferred to another site with a reduced pay. Along the way, my wife and I also had our beautiful baby girl that same year in Feb of 2009. With the extra mouth to feed and my wife being homestead from giving birth and a reduction in my income ($51k to $35K gross), we had asked Chase to see if there was a loan remodification program for us. They stated yes, we can apply for the Obama plan. We submitted all paper work requested and waited. While we waited, we also struggled to make payments but we still did and made sure that payment was in timely manner or we would consult with Chase.
After a short while, we weren't able to maintain any longer. We contacted Chase to see what was going on as we did not hear anything from them for over a two-month period. They gave us an answer of, "Oh, we are sorry. We are so behind on processing. It will take another month." Another two months go by and still nothing from Chase. I called them and they gave me the runaround of, "Call this person and that person." Finally, we were able to talk to a loan modification specialist supposedly and he stated, "Yes, we show your application was submitted but can you resubmit a new one?" I questioned this notion but as they requested, I resubmitted all the paperwork and again waited. Another three months went by with no call backs or anything. Again, we called them back and received a runaround answer and wanted us to resubmit paper work again.
Finally in early 2010, we were notified by a friend that we can do a financial hardship and repayment option with Chase that may qualify us to get our home loan reduced to the cost of which it is worth and adjust our whole mortgage plan with us slowly paying for delinquent mortgage payments. We contacted Chase once again and was told, "Yes, we can do this." They sent us a reduced mortgage payment plan to pay what we can so we can catch up. This I didn't know only lasted for three months and then we were hit with our $1959 mortgage payment again and asked to pay the delinquent balances along with it again. I called up Chase again and they stated again to resubmit our application to their loan modification team and that the program we were on didn't meet our needs.
Seeing that Chase was unwilling to help, we decided to list our home up for short sale with Karna ** through Edina Realty. We had several offers but Chase was unwilling to work with any of the clients and therefore, all offers were pulled back by potential buyers. Finally in 2011 with one final try, we called Chase to see what was going on. Again, they stated for us to resend application and wait. We did so again and contacted our real estate agent to see what was going on. Karna told us that we had another offer come through right before the sheriff's auction in March but Chase was unwilling to give time to the buyer to produce the proper paperwork. Tired, distraught, angry and feeling hopeless, we just gave up. We let our home go into foreclosure in March of 2011 and left the premises. Now, our home is up for sale at the market price of $130K with no buyers.

Chase is forcing me out of my house: In May 2010, after about 2 years of reduced payments, requests for a mortgage modification and lots of delays and runaround on the part of EMC (the loan servicer at the time), I was told I didn't qualify for a HAMP modification and they gave me a modification at 5% interest only for the first 10 years, adding principal to the payments with a balloon payment at the end after that. I needed the modification and figured I would sell the house before the 10 years was up. So I went for it, never missing a payment. In September 2011, out of the blue, I received an unsolicited FedEx from EMC/Chase (who were merging) saying that they had reviewed the loan and that I had qualified for a HAMP loan after all. There were new papers enclosed and a FedEx envelope to return them in.
Completely confused, I called Chase and no one could answer my questions. There were two letters in the package stating two different due dates for returning the signed papers. The modification was back-dated to May 2010. No one could explain that either. Finally, I went down to Chase's local mortgage branch and sat there until they let me talk to a loan officer who basically advised me to sign the papers. Still, she couldn't answer my primary question that revolved around the re-allocation of all my payments up until that time to reflect principal plus interest, which I knew would have tax implications.
It hadn't occurred to her that they would ever go back and re-allocate it. When I asked her to get me the information, she said she didn't have time but would get to it when she could. Dealing with the deadline, I signed the papers in front of her, she made me a copy, we put it in the envelope and I left it with the receptionist for FedEx pickup. I tracked the package and confirmed that it was received. At that time, I made my payment at a Chase branch using the new amount (which was higher than the old payment). I never heard back from Chase, didn't know I was supposed to, and I just kept making payments. The next statement had the old payment and terms on it. When I called, I was told that they probably had just not updated the information yet.
When I went to the same branch to make my November payment, they would not accept it, saying my account was locked up for some reason. I called Chase and got a clueless lady who told me I no longer had an account number. Mind you, they were still in the early days of the merger, so I assumed that was the problem. She told me to just mail the check in. I was not about to do that if I didn't have an account number. The next day I went to the Chase branch next to where I work. They couldn't figure it out either, but they assigned a customer service rep to help me. She found an address to send it to (using the same account number I had always had) and she sent it via FedEx at their expense so it would be on time. I went back to my office, scanned my copy of the modification that I had made notes on and sent it to her. It was at that time that I found out that the September modification had not gone through at all because I had made markings on the paperwork.
I had absolutely not made markings on the originals that the loan officer and I had put into the FedEx envelope together. We went through it step by step. I only made notes on my copy. Chase took the position that the copy I scanned and emailed to the branch was the original copy. That same month, again worrying about tax implications and thinking that the new modification was in place, I called Chase, spoke to several people but still could not get answers and was getting the runaround. One day, in anger and out of shear frustration, I got online and wrote a letter to President Obama. On the same day I filed a complaint with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. They opened a case which I knew would take months that I didn't have.
I could not afford an attorney and didn't even know what kind to call, so I was stuck. I didn't think about the letter I sent to the White House until I got a letter from them saying that they had forwarded my concern to the IRS. Next I got a call from the "HAMP Solution Center". They had assigned a rep to the case that was going to help me reapply. Chase must have been notified that I had filed the OCC complaint because they assigned at least 3 people from "the executive offices" basically to handle me. I heard from one of them once and then never again. I heard from the 2nd one twice and never heard from her again. The third, who sounded like a used car salesman, called me every 3 days for several months. He at least unlocked my account so I could make a payment at a branch. He explained that the mortgage was going through remediation since the initial (May 2010) modification had been done improperly and possibly illegally.
I then got a new set of modification papers that looked pretty much like the September mods. I called the HAMP folks to check on status and was told that my payment (PITI) should be 31% of my gross income. When I told him what my gross income was, we figured out that when Chase sent the September modification out of the blue, they had not asked for updated information. My hours had been cut months before that and my income was lower; therefore, my payment should have been a couple hundred dollars lower.
Chase's position was that it was my responsibility to tell them that my income had been reduced. How this was possible? I don't know since the September modification came out of the blue without so much as a phone call prior. Their intention was for me to sign the papers as is using the higher income, even though they knew it was not accurate information. During all this time, I still could not get information on the reallocation of my payments up until that time. I was told that I could reapply for the HAMP using my current income, but there was the risk I would not qualify (which I knew). I continued to ask questions, most of which I could not get answers to. At this point, my main question was whether if I didn't qualify, my loan would revert to the May 2010 modification and was told that it would (that, after Mr. ** checked with his VP). I asked several times before I would re-apply or sign anything and kept getting the same answer. He also told me that if I didn't qualify, they had other solutions in the way of private mortgages. By this time, I almost trusted the guy. HAMP advised me to sign the papers I got and if I wanted to re-apply, I could. So based on the assumption that if I did not qualify for HAMP, it would revert, I signed the papers, sent them in and reapplied. I jumped through hoops to get them the info they wanted right away.
I was declined. I was also told that even though Chase serviced the loan, Wells Fargo now owned it and therefore Chase had no incentive to explore other options for me. Case closed as far as Chase was concerned. They did tell me that I could re-apply for HAMP yet again if I increased my income or got my daughter to write a letter saying she provided $500/month for my expenses. They would check her credit and require 2 of her paystubs. I didn't want to do that mostly because I knew she would not understand what they were doing. At the time, I had just gotten an offer from a government agency for a weekend (second) job I had applied for (temp/seasonal). Chase said that was great and to send in 2 paystubs and they would reconsider my app. I explained that I would not get my first paycheck until April 5th. They then said that was fine, but I would have to start the whole application process from scratch. I made sure that they understood that the job was temp and they said they didn't care as long as I could come up with 2 paystubs (or the letter from my daughter).
All this time I made my payments, never becoming delinquent and assumed that I had reverted back to the May 2010 mortgage, at least for now. Apparently wrong. Last week, I got a letter asking me whether I wanted a short sale or to give them the house in lieu of foreclosure. Monday, I got another letter outlining their version of the events and basically telling me that I have no mortgage at all. It was obvious that they were covering their tracks to deal with the OCC complaint. The value of my house is about double what I owe on my mortgage loan so I obviously cannot do a short sale. I have no intention of selling my house because of Chase's mistakes and dishonesty.

I paid my mortgage off in full on Feb 3, 2012 in person. On Feb 7th, I received via FedEx an application made out by Chase to apply for a home loan modification. An attached letter stated that I requested it. I immediately called them. They insisted I requested the modification program. I replied, “Yeah, I wanted a modification for a balance of $1,200.00 (amount of the pay off).” After speaking to several different people and supposedly a manager about 30 minutes later, they stated it must have been a mistake and yes, they now see my loan has been paid off.
Then at the end of Feb, I received again another FedEx from Chase. Thinking it must be something regarding my paid off mortgage, I eagerly opened it only to find another application for a loan modification with its little tabs marked where they wanted my signature! I immediately called them and again went through person after person trying to get them to stop sending me these forms. I don't even have an account of any kind with them. When I had my home loan with them I spent the last year of hell!
I was with WAMU before and never had so much as a call or error from them, but Chase called me if my payment was 3 days late, not even past due and harassed me. No one in that bank seems to know what anyone else is doing!

We have been battling our Chase home finance loan for three years. We became delinquent when my husband switched jobs and then was injured on the job. We lost more than half of our income. They have been trying to help us save our home but nothing seems to fall into place. In 2009, they offered us the chance to start fresh and add our delinquent payments to the end of our loan. We turned in all the proper paperwork and then nothing ever became of it. We received another notice stating that we had a foreclosure date.
We are responsible for our loan but they have been dragging us along. All we ask for is the chance to save our home and start fresh. We do not want any handouts or freebies, just a new start. Our foreclosure date is a week away and on the last phone call I received, they informed me our paperwork was under review. We are in panic mode!

I had a house payment with Washington Mutual Bank. I did a modification with them and had taxes, insurance and payment all in one payment. Next thing I knew, Washington Mutual was bought out by Chase. They are the worst bank I ever dealt with. They jumped my payment up from $520.13 to $750.00. I am on social security and draw $752.00 a month. Then they would not take any more payments. They want work with nobody. I bet this they are not getting my house unless they give me my money back. I put in it $49,000.00. Can’t there be a law for stealing? That’s what they are doing. If they try, I will press charges.

The only problem is Chase screwed up the paperwork on the first batch they sent me. This was to consolidate 1st, 2nd, and all revolving debt with a payment of $3191.00 a month! Super deal. Here’s the rest:
11-2005 to 4-2007: I’m making my payments of $3300.00 monthly ($2894.00 first; $500.00 second) as agreed to by first loan. On 4-2-07, I applied for refinance with Chase and was approved (a month consolidated, first mortgage, second mortgage and all revolving and credit card debt!). On 4-17-2007, I signed loan docs but caught an error on Chase’s part for $3500.00, which by their own paperwork says it can’t be signed if error is over of $1000.00 by either party. I was told by loan agent to refuse loan and he would put the new corrected copy in the mail the very next day.
On or about 4-28-2007, new loan papers are to come to my house via notary Jesse–not as they had done 2 weeks previous by mail. She had to cancel first appointment (kids sick) and then cancels the second appointment (printer not printing)! On 4-30-2007, it shows up with half the loan docs. I’m leaving for Spain in 4 hours. I called Vaughnn ** to inform him or to ask him to help, but there’s no return call. On 5-01-2007, I am on a plane and there’s still no call back from Vaughn. However, there’s a call from Jesse ** that my loan was waiting for me upon my return! On 5-18-2007 (on or about), I’m back from Spain and there’s still no loan docs. As per Jesse, they are waiting for me. By 5-23-07, I have had it with her. I called Vaughnn ** again, directly asking where is my loan! After a couple of days, he gets back to me to inform me I refused the second loan as well in writing. Not my writing though! I inform him as per my calls before my trip and calls upon my return the paperwork that it was never brought to me complete to sign!
It takes a couple of weeks to get to the bottom of what appears to be this notary trying to slip a loan in from her boyfriend who’s a loan broker. Everyone apologizes. This has never happened before. In fact, LSI emailed me to tell me that based on my unfortunate situation they would not use this notary again! So problem solved! Case closed! I called Vaughnn ** back for my new loan documents, which I assume he will now send with someone else for sure as he told me it didn’t make sense and was not at all my signature. That fact, coupled with the previous calls, led him to believe it was a forged document. Meanwhile, my mortgage is unpaid. My credit cards, which were supposed to be paid in full, are delinquent. My property tax check is at LSI (I overnighted it to them because Jesse was late getting to my house, only it wasn’t supposed to go to them!). So now I’m delinquent, but my loan docs will come and it will all go away!
On 6-02-2007, we now have to initiate a new loan. The next loan attempt brings red flags from all—my credit score goes from 740-760 down to 635. And now I don’t qualify for this loan anymore based not on my ability to pay, or my part as it were, but based on a number in a public record that before Chase’s errors and sending of a criminal to my home were qualified; after their involvement, now I didn’t. Please re-read that! They said to me it was their fault and it wasn’t that I was somehow a changed person, but that the loan wouldn’t go through based on the score of my credit! Someone would stop it! Upon their refusal of my loan, I was entitled to a free copy of my credit report which I applied for and received.
On 7-01-2007, the contributing factors listed in credit report were debt to income ratio and 2 items erroneously put on my TRW a month before, which were already removed as they were not mine. Errors! What the report listed was my original loan from Chase of $560,000.00, a new loan from Chase of $505,000.00 and a request for a third loan from Chase of $505,000.00. I never tried to borrow $1.5 million, but they made it look on paper as though I did. On 7-15-2007, I called to inform Chase of their error with regards to the loan and that I did indeed have the loan. It was on my TRW as open and in good standing! The associate asked me to hold and came back on with a 3rd-party and informed me Chase was rescinding the loan and I had to consider it closed. The associate added that the use of any of the funds (I had a check book and CC from original loan in my possession) would be a federal crime and they would prosecute me to the full extent allowable by law that they could! And that concluded my call to inform them of their error!
At this time, I had over a hundred thousand dollars in the bank that was completely on top of my finances. So I just kept paying and trying to get on top of the situation. I thought someone would make it right! I wasn’t going to be the one in the wrong! On 8-30-2007, my once $3300.00 house payment I sought only to reduce slightly is now fluctuating because of impounds, late fees, escrow and the like. It had now inflated to $6000.00 a month and my credit card’s another $3000.00 a month! For a 2-year period, I keep paying it along with all my other bills, until I was finally not able to pay and it was at that precise time, not behind but unable to pay, that I applied for the re-structuring loan I believe I qualified for in every respect. On 3-29-2009, I was refused the loan. No explanation as to why! Then on 2-30-2010, I’m homeless and have no credit, bankrupt, and have no bank account. Chase had my bank account levied and took every dime in it the same week I was informed it was them who bought my house in foreclosure for $220,000k. What they did is criminal!

I have been trying submit for a loan modification since December 11. I was expecting to have some issues with not being able to meet with someone in person. All conversations are on the phone and by fax. Not even an email address is provided. I have sent and resent and sent again the same information to the same people to no avail. I have asked time and time again if all my information is in order and if there is any other information necessary to complete this task. I have been told time and time again that all is well and nothing else is needed. All the calls to Chase are taped and I will allow anyone at anytime to listen to the calls placed. I have requested a new Chase representative but was denied.
If you call Michael, you will find he does not answer and always has the wrong time and date on his answering machine. He may or may not call you back in a week. He now says that Chase wants records I do not have and cannot supply. When I questioned the reasoning, he said I could opt out of the program. I took that as a threat by his arrogant manner. I am sure that Chase is not acting in a manner that is in accordance to the loan modification program. I will now be forced into filing a chapter 7 bankruptcy. Had I gotten the loan modification, I am sure I could have worked things out. However, I am positive that Chase will have yet another foreclosure on the long list of people they are not willing to assist. Had I not completed all of the requested information on an immediate basis, I would not be complaining. Because this is a very important issue, I made sure I completed and sent all information asked of me with in 24 hours. Please be aware I have not ever been late or have missed a payment on my Chase mortgage. How times are changing.

This nightmare started almost 2 years ago, when Chase decided to start escrowing my mortgage account on their own. I have been paying my own taxes for 12 years, and do not know why they decided to do this. I sent numerous statements (paper work) showing I pay my own taxes, and every time I called, I got a huge runaround and a "case number". I have a "list" of probably 10 to 15 "case numbers”. They told me to continue to make my regular mortgage payment until they clear this up, which I did. I never heard anything more from them, and I continued to call, and continued to get more "case numbers”. By Chase escrowing my account, they tack on due taxes for the next year, which threw my account into arrears because I couldn't come up with 7 grand to prepay the escrow account they forced onto me.
They suggested I apply for a home loan modification. I did so. I never received any communication from them. Every time I called, I was told I was missing paperwork that they needed, which was not the case, but I complied again and again, submitting the paperwork they asked for, only not to hear anything again. I would call, call, call, and call. My documents would sit on someone’s desk for months. When I would get a hold of someone they would tell me my paperwork was "dated", and I need to resubmit it. It’s a nightmare. I have gone through 2 attempts with the place for a loan modification. I would just dump this place, and refinance with someplace else, but they have literally ruined my credit rating with reporting my mortgage in default, which it never was until they decide they wanted force an escrow account on me.
They also recently took over my insurance premium, which I have always paid myself. The 2nd time I applied for the loan modification (at their suggestion, because I was told the program had be revamped and was "better now” - their words). I applied in December 2011. It is now March 20, 2012. I have had 2 different case workers, resubmitted paperwork numerous times because, again, it sat around. They did nothing with it, and it became "dated" to submit to their under writer, so I faxed "updated" paperwork again.
My last case manager, Mr. Will **, would never call me back. The one and only time I was able to get him, I asked to make regular phone call appointments to get progress updates. We made a time and date for phone contact. He never called. So again, I started calling trying to find out what’s going on. Whenever I call, I get no information. They just say there is nothing on my file. It’s been quite upsetting and stressful. There is something very underhanded and intentional deceitful going on with this bank. I don’t know how these people live with themselves, let alone sleep at night.
I received a phone call today from collections. I once again went through my whole story again, that I have applied for a loan modification. She once again told me there was nothing on my file indicating I applied. Then she said she saw that a modification was closed due to outdated information and non-compliance from me. She suggested I apply again. Are you kidding me? I requested to speak to someone above the level of the modification manager. She stated I could, to a person considered as an escalation modification manager. She gave me the same runaround, and told me I could apply again, and that she was sorry. She also said I could write a complaint letter, which they would read. Right! They also told me I could apply to dispute the modification denial. This place is so corrupt, and I can’t believe they get away with it. Something has to be done.

I have been with Chase since August 2007. In October of 2008, I had a significant loss of income and made at least 5 attempts for the loan modification. After a year of setting on my paperwork and their customer service reps giving me the run around (I think they were just homeless people sitting in), the modification was denied because I did not send back a tax document by a certain date. Oh, not to mention that I had sent it back in three times. In 2010, after all my equity was sucked out of my home and the value became less than the mortgage, I attempted to refinance with Chase.
I was told that I did not qualify for refinance with Chase because I did a short sell in 2006 (although I was told this was better than a foreclosure) and because my loan was not with Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. Current day, after following the landmark settlement and following-up with Chase to see when my loan will be refinanced under the terms set forth by the government, I learned my loan had been sold to a non-participating loan company as of April 2nd. A number of things have happened. However, we have been in re-modification for 3 years when two months ago Chase denied our remod loan on different reasons that were never consistent. They told me one thing and my wife another. We were told that we didn't have all the proper paperwork sent and they said that my wife's unemployment couldn't be used as income. Then the last thing was we were too many months behind. But when I asked how many did the modification require, they said it had to be under 12 months past due. We talked to them every month and never once did they tell us there was a 12-month cut off!
Why did they continue to tell us not to make a payment? And why in three years they didn't tell us of a cut at 12 months or at least deny us after 12 months so we could go on with our lives? My wife lost her job and I got cut back on hours. There was no reason we shouldn't have gotten the loan. Oh, and because of Chase Mortgage, I had to file bankruptcy at the age of 38. I'm married and have three kids that are having problems because we have to move to another place! This house is my home which, because of Chase, I have to give up my dream of being a homeowner. I also have to move my kids which have grown up in this house. I'm in outrage because of how we have been treated through this whole thing. Chase then sat on the paperwork for months. After Senator John McCain intervened with the pressure from the Comptroller of Currency, Chase finally agreed to short sale my house. I have been trying for two years to get a mortgage modification. I have been told by Chase that my house is is worth $100 less than I owe on it so I am locked in to their high interest loan, can not go elsewhere and can not get them to work with me on a modification. After two attempts that take months and months, I have been denied. Like some of the other complaints, I was also given a specialist who said they would help me and acted very concerned and sincere. But once the process started, I could never get in touch with them. Their voice mail was constantly full and I couldn't leave a message and took forever to get any human to talk to who always said, "Yes, we have your stuff and just waiting for underwriting but don't worry everything looks good."
The first time, Chase said I didn't send in the paperwork on time, which I faxed to them within 24 hours of every request. It turned out they had the fax but it was filed in the wrong folder and apparently they could not do anything about it because the time had lapsed even though it was their mistake. They would confirm the paperwork was received then the next person would tell me it wasn't. I even faxed it to them from their own branch office. So I appealed. I got a letter from someone sounding very high up who said that they would review it. I got denied again because my expenses versus income did not qualify me. It turns out Chase can't add either because they only included my mortgage payment in my expenses and not my second mortgage, living expenses and cost of taking in my homeless and jobless college student niece or my 30% reduction in pay for the last two years, all of which were documented completely as requested.
I just gave up. I wanted to cry every time I talked to these morons on the phone. The stress of the constant conflicting statements and letters Chase would send to me (lies, lies and more lies) was having an effect on my health. Then they started screwing with my insurance and taxes, taking over both of them without my consent and without notifying me. I hadn't even been approved for the modification and they did this, then they just stopped paying my insurance without telling me when they decided to reject me for the modification again. When the insurance company notified them of the cancellation for non-payment (before I even got any notice of it), they immediately tried to slap me with their insurance policy at more than five times the premium I was paying at State Farm. But they didn't stop paying may taxes, because then they could get screwed by the county foreclosing my property and they would lose out.
So now my payment is $200 a month higher than when I started asking for help and my credit is in the toilet because Chase told me not to pay to get my modification started then turned around and reported me for not paying. I am struggling to make my payments on time and only staying afloat right now because I am cashing in stock and selling things to keep afloat. I am an honest person who has never defaulted on a loan but I am seriously considering just walking away from this one because I may have no choice. I truly believe they are intentionally creating slaves out of their debtors and gouging us for every dime they can get while they line their pockets with federal funds. Is anyone actually getting relief from them? I have never in my life worked with such a blatantly incompetent and dishonest organization such as Chase.
To add insult to injury, I also had my checking account hijacked by someone in the Philippines who withdrew $255 and wire transferred it to the Philippines. Coincidentally, Chase uses a collections processing center in the Philippines where they now have my bank account and routing information on file for the late payment collections they processed. They have criminals working for them everywhere and just don't care.

First time, I was denied because I was in good standing so being penalized for being conscientious. Okay, there were others in far worst.
Now with new program to help people sit good credit, I applied again. Now I am being told that if I get approved, it will be reported as negative too. Refit agencies, why? Do people who refinance or remortgage face the same consequence or threat? Isn't it the same thing? I have not been behind. The response from Chase was, "well you can refinance". Well if my property had not declined by $100,000, I would! "Well you can opt out of program if you wish". I called Chase in December to be proactive about a temporary situation I was going through to see if I could get a two-month extension. I was told at the time that I had to pay three months in a row, and then only after 30 days late, could I call to see if I qualify. I was shocked that I have to damage my credit and then I may not even qualify. So I paid in November, December and January and then at the end of February called and spoke with Jeannette in escalations. She told me a whole different story. She said I had to go 30 days late then make three payments in a row and then apply for an extension. I was very upset and confused. How does this help? She was confused as well and could not answer my questions so she promised to look into everything and would call me later that day. I emphasized that I needed to know because I did not want to go 30 days late if I did not qualify. She told me I had until the next day 3/2 to pay and not get a 30-day late. She never called back, and when I called the next day not knowing what to do, they told me she was off.
A woman named Chelsea said she could help me and we proceeded with the application, which took about 2 hours. She was great. She told me I was approved. I would not be reported for any 30 days late for February or March. My next payment would be due April 1. I would have to pay my escrows for February and March. I proceeded to do that and it cleared my bank on 3/5. She gave me a confirmation number and said I was all set. I asked her several times if that was it, if I am approved, and if I won’t need to go 30 days late, etc. On Tuesday, 3/6, I got a message from a representative at Chase telling me that my extension was denied! When I called back, all I could get is that there was a problem with my income. When I asked what income information they had, they would not tell me. They said I needed to speak with Chelsea. I spoke with three more people and sat on hold for hours and could never get to Chelsea. They said they emailed her and she would call me. That was two days ago and still no call.
I phoned Chase again today and a new escalation manager reads the same information to me and said someone would call me by the end of today. Again, no call. I do not know what to do. I do not know if they have the correct information as far as my income goes. I do not know if they have reported me 30 days late or what has happened to my almost $800 of escrow money. Even worse is that between 3/2 an 3/6, I made financial decisions based on my extension, and now I do not have the money to bring the mortgage current for February and March. I have never seen a business run like this. It is mind blowing!

I have called numerous times to follow up and always have to open a new work order then call back in 14 days for it to be "Closed, Unfounded." I have received numerous calls and letters which threaten foreclosure and demand "lump sum payments to get caught up." Caught up? I've never missed a payment.
Finally in 2012, I have the chance to sell the property; and a payoff quote revealed that they said I owe $7000 over what it should be. After 3 straight hours on the phone with two reps, we discovered that Chase has on record that they have been paying the property insurance since receiving a cancellation notice for non-payment.
I convinced the Chase rep to call the insurance company. Lo and behold, Chase has never paid my insurance; and the insurance company confirmed that a cancellation notice has never gone out for my policy. Chase claims to have credited me $3861. Two weeks later, no credit and the harassing calls continued. My monthly mortgage is still $400 over what it should be with taxes and insurance! Someone, please help us.

I contacted Chase in regards to my home mortgage. I was falling behind due to medical reason and just brought my first son into this world. So I asked for help. They at this time acted like they gave a **. They told me that I qualified for a home modification. Thanks to your fake president. They told me they would hook me up with a Chase customer specialist by the name of Nadia **, who was more than nice on the phone. She told me what I needed and I got it all together and for her and sent it in. She told me she was there for me any time I needed and that we were going to find a way to keep my house. Well, about a month went by when Nadia ** was calling at least once a week to tell us, "We are waiting for the reply from the underwriter." Well, one day she called and said, "We are still waiting on the final reply." So another day goes by and another. So I called her phone number. There was no answer. It was pretty common. Well, I talked to someone else who said they would give her my message. Okay, another day and another and another. So I called back. They said they would make sure she got the message. And I called back the next day and the next and the next etc. You get the picture?
After about two weeks of calling and leaving messages, I received a letter telling me I was denied for my loan modification. So I called back now just wanting to talk to anyone who could help. No one would help. All they wanted to say was, "You owe this money and you better pay it." I spent valuable time (and got even further behind because I was told to not send money and to sit tight, for what? To never hear from you again until it's almost too late? Now, I got three weeks to come up with this money or me, my wife, my daughter and my 1-year old son are on the streets. They keep telling me, "Chase wants to keep you in your home." What a joke. Chase wants money, that's all it is. And if you ask me we should get together and do something about this. I'm far from through with this. I just wanted to speak my mind a little before I take this to the next level. If Chase ever wants to assign you a specialist, do not talk to Nadia **. She will get your hopes up then drop you like a bad habit. Nadia ** should be fired and Chase should be called "Take all your money and screw you while you're not looking" Bank.

I have had a mortgage loan with Chase for 15 months and never been late. By the terms of my loan information, my note is due on the first and past due on the 16th. I could not believe that I got a call from a real jerk on the 5th dunning me for my payment. I told him to look back at my payment history and see that almost every quarter since I started this loan, I normally pay as many as 2 to 3 notes ahead.
Then I looked back at my bank statements and they had charged me $20 every time I paid them $2800 to $3200 for being a good customer. Then I was $10 over my credit limit on my $300 credit card for a few days then paid it in full and they sent it to my credit report saying my card was over the limit which lowered my score.
How can they do this without canceling the services of the card or stopping the use? I had already moved my business banking to JSC Federal Credit Union because of the same lack of service I received from Chase. Now I intend on closing everything I have there by the end of the next quarter. I am also searching for someone else to pick up my mortgage as I type this message. My advice to anyone is to run as far away from Chase Fake Services as you can.

I am extremely upset with Chase Bank because I have been led to believe that they were paying my taxes because they have been deducting from my checking account funds for my mortgage and taxes, automatically, each month since I refinanced with them on July 20l0. I received a letter from the LA County tax collector on March 1st, 2012 that indicated that my 2011 taxes are not paid pulse penalties. I called the Chase Tax Department at 877-314-6353 and spoke with Karen ** who stated that a document is missing and she gave me the name of the document, and that it’s my responsibility to obtain it from the tax collector’s office and then submit it to Chase Tax Department. I told her that I never was advised of that document. I told Karen that I just want my taxes paid. She stated that she would open a work order and told me that that took about 14 days for a resolution. I called the LA Collector’s Office and spoke with 2 different agents. One stated that it’s something Chase Bank is responsible for, not the client, and she was not familiar with the document.
She transferred me to someone else who was not aware of the document I was seeking either, and that took about 2 hours on the phone because of so many transfers. So I wrote a letter to Chase Tax Department and took it in to the bank stating that I tried seeking a document to no avail, and if they would just issue me a check so I could pay them myself. I had my letter and the copy of my unpaid taxes faxed to the Chase Tax Department by a bank representative, Celia **, from the Palo Verde branch in Long beach. I hope you can help me that it is not my fault taxes were not paid and I was never advised of a document need until I brought it to their attention that my taxes were not paid. Thank you.

I have had Chase mortgage for 11 years. I am filing for disability and am unemployed due to that fact. I have tried relentlessly to get Chase to modify my mortgage, to no avail. I had surgery on my back on April 26, 2011. I contact them and they sent me a modification package out. I filled it out and mailed it back, but they kept sending me the same one I had filled out. They said it exceeded the time limit and that I would have to fill out more packets. I don't believe this was handled in a professional way like it should have been. I have made several phone calls to Chase during this period and they kept transferring me to someone else. They also kept wanting me to send more stuff in that I had already sent in several times, like my unemployment benefits. They kept transferring my mortgage package first to California, then to Colorado, and also Texas.
I don't feel that this was handled in a timely matter like it should have been; therefore, I am on the verge of losing my house. Finally, I received an approval letter December 7, 2011 and it said to sign if I waned to accept. I did and faxed it back to Chase on December 7th. I don't think there was enough detail on how to send the payments in so I waited for a payment coupon, yet I never received one. A few weeks later I received a cancellation notice from Chase on my mortgage. I have written a letter to Chase stating all of these facts. They replied back saying it was cancelled. I don't feel as if I was treated fairly and it took several months to get this far regarding this matter.
I have sent two checks to Chase for $900.00 asking them to please let me catch up on my mortgage modification. They accepted the first $900.00 but stated that I sent it to the wrong place without sending me a payment coupon showing they accepted it. As far as the other $900.00, Chase said they couldn't accept it. I don't understand this because they accepted the first $900.00. I really need this modification to go through so I will be able to keep my home. It is all I have. That is why I am filing this grievance because it has taken so long and I have jumped through all the hoops Chase wanted me to so I expect the same in return. If I can't get any other matters resolved, I will hire an attorney to resolve this situation.

On 2/26/12, I began trying to contact a supervisor in the mortgage dept of Chase to discuss a complaint and possible remedies regarding an unsolicited refinance initiated by Chase for my adjustable rate mortgage. I have been trying for 3 days now to make personal contact with the supervisor I was referred to, Jackie **, to no avail. Today, I was kept on hold for 28 minutes while a Chase rep tried to locate her or another supervisor for me. Yesterday, I was kept on hold for 22 minutes before I was just disconnected. I have left multiple messages for Ms. ** but she does not pick up her phone. When she attempted to return my call, I was unable to answer my phone, but immediately (within 5 minutes) returned her call only to get her message machine again. I let her know that my request to speak to her or another supervisor was urgent.
In order to remain in my home, I need to refinance to today's rates. I would qualify under HARP, except for the fact that a Chase agent contacted me (unsolicited) in June 2010 and offered to put me into a fixed 30-year mortgage at no expense to me. When I asked why Chase was calling me to offer me a no-cost refinance, the rep said it was for “Retention Purposes,” but would not offer additional information or disclosure. It sounded too good to be true but I didn't see what the downside was and accepted.
Although I have been out of work for almost 3 years, I had over 100K in savings and 100K in credit card limits, which has pulled me through. One year ago, I finally took matters into my own hands and started a daycare business out of my home. It has proved to be successful and I am on track to gross 100K plus in 2012. However, I need to refinance to the current rate of 4% (I am currently in a 5% fixed interest rate for 30 yrs), so that I can afford to begin paying back the 100K I owe on my credit cards. My savings has been exhausted. I do not want to have to file bankruptcy and I have not yet defaulted on any of my loans, including my mortgage. However, I may have no other option if I cannot refinance.
The problem is that because Chase refinanced me in June 2010, I now don't qualify for any Obama or HARP refinancing assistance. Those guidelines require that your loan originated in or prior to 2009. Although I inquired at the time I was offered the refinance from Chase in 2010, they did not disclose this guideline. It is my position that Chase proactively solicited current mortgage clients like me for refinancing so that we would not qualify for the help they knew was coming down the pipeline and that would be advantageous to the homeowner but not the bank.
Desired Resolution:I would like Chase to refinance my mortgage at the current interest rate under the Obama Mortgage Assistance guidelines (despite that I no longer meet the loan origination guideline) so that I can continue to stay current on my mortgage and live in my home, which is the base for my daycare business, and how, as a single parent, I am able to provide shelter, care, and stability for my 3 foster children.
An exception should be made here because my loan did originate prior to 2009 (2007 in fact). However, the Obama Mortgage Assistance criteria was not disclosed to me at the time I accepted an unsolicited call from a Chase agent to refinance me in June 2010 at no cost.
Time is of the essence and waiting on hold for 28 minutes to speak to a Mortgage Supervisor is unacceptable business practice!

I've been in my home just over a year. My payments are current and so is my insurance. At the end of last year, I received a letter from Chase stating that my escrow account was short and in order to prevent that from happening, they would have to increase my mortgage payments or I could pay the entire $1100 at once. I was confused because my taxes and insurance are both due at the end of the year. I was looking at the statement and had a little over $1000 currently in escrow. I called and they told me the same thing -- my account was short sometime during the year and they needed to make up for it.
At the beginning of the year, I began receiving letters that my insurance was about to lapse. Again, I was confused! I called my insurance company and got proof. I called Chase and it kept directing me to an automated system. I hung up and figured I'd call back the next day. When I got home, there was a letter from Chase stating that they would be putting forced place insurance on my house which would make my payment well out of my means. I stayed on the line 45 minutes before I talked to someone and finally spoke to a live person.
The problem was, when the agent keyed in my information, they transposed two numbers which made my insurance expire in January instead of October. My escrow account is now well over the amount needed to pay everything for the year and it's not even March but they refuse to lower my payment to its original amount. What a rip off!

In November 2010, Chase refused to receive and process the monthly payments shown and the previous statements. Prior to that date Chase wanted to institute escrow account in the sum of four times larger than yearly payments for real estate taxes and insurance. During the course of time 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 some double payments were executed . The value of the home at the present time is 3-4 times bigger than the loan. In 2010, Chase, thru its legal firm, sent the notice pursuant to Fair Debit Collection Practices Act demanding full payment of the loan with penalties. In case of noncompliance, the foreclosure proceedings will be instated against property. I presented proof of payment to the legal firm and later couldn’t receive any information about the status of the loan or legal proceedings.
The bank sent the letter stating that I owns $29,059.39. Chase indicated that I did not pay his monthly payments in June, July, August, and September or October 2010. But on November 12, 2011 Chase refused to accept and process the monthly payment form me. During the times, 2010 and 2011, I tried to contact Chase’s employees or their lawyers. At many accessions the information was inaccurate and questions were unanswered. Letters sent by me were ignored, unanswered, or answers were simply inadequate or false. Even when I mentioned about the legal action against Chase, information provided by its lawyers was inaccurate and sent the Illinois States Attorney. Often I had to go himself to bank's lawyers and facilitate them to receive correct information from the Chase Bank employees.
I paid monthly installments each month before due date and his obligations for real estate taxes and insurance. In 2010 Chase did not sent even one monthly statement about the loan. The modification initiated by the bank gone to nowhere. I contacted Illinois State Attorney General. At the month of August 2011 plaintiff‘s information from this office that the matter of this loan is in active litigation. In October I attempted to pay indicated sum by Chase, which is $14026.69, but he refused to accept this payment at his office. After many inquiries to the defendant’s employees and his lawyers, I was instructed to pay $16877.50 and once again the payment was refused by the bank. I was inaccurately informed where to send this payment.

So Chase is telling us that we need to pay $4500 for those missed payments, which we were told not to pay. We have been paying an extra almost 300 bucks each month and the money isn't even going toward out house payment. Our money is disappearing. We get a foreclosure notice on our door every six months. I went to the branch on Monday, and asked them what to do, and they told me to put a stop payment on one of the payments, but because they were identical, I had to stop both of them per the Credit Union. I went back to the branch, and told them what I had to do, and asked if I could make a payment by check, so that I would not be late with my payment, and they said that was fine.

It put me behind (3 months) on my house payments so I went to a real estate consultant because trying to talk to anyone at Chase was not working out at all. One person would tell me one thing and the other another. None of there departments communicate with each other. The real estate consultant got me started on the new home modification program. I started with my payments lowered from July 2009 to December 2009 while I was being approved for this modification. I got the approval letter (final) from Chase on January 2010 with my new payment plan started March 2010. So, I paid this new payment from March 2010 till September 2010, then my October 2010 payment was sent back to me. So, I call them, they told me I was kicked off the modification in May?? And could not give me any reason why? OK, so I paid the consultant again to fix this. The consultant told me that Chase could not do what they were doing, that its against the law. The consultant sent out paper work and told me to just keep paying my mortgage,so I did.
6 months later, they are still returning my payments. I'm not getting anything out of the consultant but it takes time at this point people were coming to my house taking pictures and things like that. The letters they were sending with my payments started saying I was in foreclosure. So now I'm scared, I am about to lose my house. This lead me to go file chapter 13 bankruptcy in March 2011. Now, let me remind you that most of my pay check goes to bankruptcy and now Chase is making my payments go up due to being behind more then I filed. When I filed bankruptcy, my payments were behind from October 2010 till March 2011 (6 months) I'm not any more behind and I have all the documents and proof of my payments needed. Chase is telling my bankruptcy that I am 15 payments behind and looks like they added more BS to it as well. During a meeting with a Chase Loan Officer, I was told that if we removed PMI on my current loan, we could refinance and not need PMI on the new loan under a government program. We called 2 customer service agents who both confirmed that the only requirements to remove PMI were payment history and LTV (based on original appraisal) less than 80%. I specifically asked about current value since my home's value had declined substantially, and they said current value was not taken into consideration.
Based on this information, I sold shares from a company stock plan account to pay down the principle and reserve funds for the escrow account they said I would need to open. My request for PMI removal was denied, and a flurry of communication ensued. The net result is that they are still demanding a Broker's Price Opinion to show that the home has not declined in value. I was specifically told this would not be needed at the outset. Meanwhile, the shares of stock I sold based on the bad information they gave me have appreciated over $5,000 and the sale led to a tax liability of $2,000 this year.
The agents with whom I have been in contact have ceased responding to emails and the last phone call had me on hold for nearly 2 hours. Back in June of 2011, I filed for a refinance with a cash-out to pay my debits. Most of the debit that I incurred was home improvements. Anyway, everything was going great, all the paperwork was given, now I waited until an appraiser came to appraise the house. Chase sent someone in September. Everything was good. the appraiser came in at $429k.
Four weeks later, I received a call from the loan officer that we couldn't get the loan until we put siding on the house. I had explained to the loan officer that the whole idea of the loan was to refinance at a lower rate, take cash-out to pay bills and the rest of the money was to finish the repairs on the house which was the siding. She said she understood but that there was nothing she could do because her boss wanted the siding on the house before closing. Closing was in 2 weeks. Mind you, I have bills, a mortgage, 2 kids in Catholic school, and I work full time, plus I don't have any money to put siding on the house because that's the reason for the loan. So now I have to withdraw the paper work.
I took out a pension loan to do the siding. I resubmitted all the paper work again, now it's the end of November. The loan officer stated everything was good and we just have to send the appraiser back to the house to take a picture with the siding on and that would be that. Two weeks later I got a different guy to appraise the house, someone who lives in Brooklyn. He came here to Staten Island, acted very immature, giggled all through the house and finally left. It was a very weird experience. Three weeks later, I got the appraisal in the mail, the house is now valued at $387k, almost $40k less than the original appraiser's which was two in a half months apart. How can you make improvements on a house and the value goes down? It doesn't make any sense
Evidently the second appraiser came to Staten Island, went to the real lower part of the island, valued all the wrong houses; houses that are nowhere near me and came up with that figure. Now I got a phone call from the loan officer at the end of January saying that they have an internal appraiser problem. She said that Chase made a mistake and instead of sending the same appraiser to take a picture of the completed work, they requested a whole new appraisal. Mind you, I just spent $400.00 on the first one, now they take the liberty to send another one for an additional $400.00 that I don't have. This is an outrage, I told them I was in debit not that I have money to burn.
It is now February and the loan officer said there is nothing she could do, that Chase was going with the lower appraisal. Therefore the rate of the loan goes up and the money which I needed to cash out to pay my bills would be $12k instead of the $56k that I needed. I am so irate. What would you do in my place?

I applied for a Chase mortgage loan at end of July 2011 based on the fact that they had no closing fees except for the application and processing fee. Chase provided all the fees that I would have to pay in a Good Faith Estimate and so I decided to get my loan from Chase since I have been a customer of Chase for over 10 years.
However, on the day of closing, as I was signing the paperwork, I noticed that there were additional closing fees of about $1,400 that I was not made aware of prior to Closing. The bank's attorney, who was also in that room, was not aware of the fee. I had asked what the fee was about, but the bank attorney couldn't tell me. At this point, I couldn't sign the papers. Otherwise, I would have lost out on my 10% down payment on the apartment unit.
The following Monday after the “closing,” I called the loan officer from whom I had gotten the mortgage to ask what the fee was about. He explained to me that the fee was due to the fact that Chase had to extend my lock-in rate for the third time so to meet the closing date. He told me that the lock-in rate had expired on Oct. 12 (we closed on Oct. 14 -- a date that everyone including Chase was aware of for weeks! ) and thus, they had to extend the rate by 2 additional day since I wasn't ready to close. I found this to be surprising since I told him that this couldn't be right because, on Oct. 12 at 2 pm, the loan was still in Chase underwriting and the reason for the initial delay of the closing was due to the fact that Chase had actually sent my loan file to the wrong bank attorney on Oct. 5th! I explained to the loan officer that 1) the loan-rate extension was not my fault and was the bank's fault, 2) I never authorized or agreed to such an extension--I even asked the loan officer to produce a proof that I actually signed a document substantiating this claim that I agreed to the third extension, but he couldn't and 3) the delay in closing that gave rise to the extension was due to the bank's fault (not mine) because my file was sent to the wrong bank attorney and due to chase's own incompetence.
I tried to resolve this amicably several times and even went through Chase's Executive Resolution Center, but to be expected, they sided with the loan officer. They refused to speak to my attorney and the loan officer and his immediate supervisor refused to return my calls. While it is not a big sum of money, it is the principle that Chase was effectively holding my loan "hostage" unless I agreed to the additional closing costs that were never ever agreed upon or disclosed to me prior to signing. This seems to be an illegal and fraudulent practice. From the complaints on this website, it seems to be quite pervasive too. There may be potential class action lawsuits of Chase slipping in hidden fees at the last minute to home owners.

I have been pursuing a loan modification with my mortgage company since October of 2008. The original loan company went out of business and the loan was bought by Washington Mutual which then became EMC and has finally become Chase. As soon as I realized that we would be having some problems making a few payments, I contacted them to make arrangements. I had never heard of a modification and was immediately put into the modification system. However, I had to be at least 3 months late before they could submit the modification request, or that is what they told me. I did not make those payments, as directed by the bank representative, and called back when the 3rd payment was due. I was then told that because I was past due, they could not begin the modification process until I was current, or had at least scheduled payments through their payment system. This was January of 2009. The initial 3 payments were scheduled, in the amount dictated by the bank, for the dates the bank requested. I was sent a packet of paperwork to fill out and submit for the modification and I began the never ending modification process. I have been resubmitting forms and pay stubs and letters explaining the reason for our loss of income ever since.
I have never had any luck getting anyone to call me back when I try to find out what is going on and the contact person that I was told to deal never seems to be the right person when I am finally able to talk to a person, usually after being disconnected 2 or 3 times and having to call back. Requests to have someone call me back go unanswered and many times I am told that all I can do is wait for someone to call me, which almost never happened until I filed a complaint with the BBB. Within weeks I had a call from a representative at the executive branch of Chase Bank and was told that my account was now being handled exclusively by that branch and would be until the modification was obtained. I thought there was a light at the end of the tunnel. I was sadly mistaken as that was nearly 18 months ago and I am still being passed from one account representative to another, still being put on hold and disconnected, still waiting for answers to my phone calls and questions.
Today I received a notice of intent to foreclose letter. I called my executive branch representative and yet again left a message requesting a return call to let me know what is going on and if we are indeed being foreclosed against. I will not be holding my breath waiting for the call. I have begun searching for an attorney to find out what my options are at this point and how I can make Chase be held accountable for the highly questionable practices that have been employed by them to delay the process and the outright lies that have been made in an attempt to make me do what they want and stop asking questions. So I find myself once again waiting for a call that I believe will never come, but I am waiting, and adding yet another page to the files in which I keep all communications and telephone conversation transcripts.

I made 2 payments on my trial portion of my modification and received 2 confirmation numbers. I looked over statement and payments were never taken out. I asked why, Chase said they could not locate the account. After research, Chase mixed up the account number and loan number. First payment was okay but never took the money out of the account and it was marked error. I talked to a rep for Chase, they said I have to prove it in order to reopen modification, otherwise I have to start over. I proved that it was their fault. I have not heard from them as of yet. I have started over about 3 times, I don't want to do this again. I have given them all paperwork they asked for. I keep sending the same copies. I even went to their home center for help. The rep there said "I'm your adviser to help you". But only to find out he is only trying to get you out of your home. This is crazy. All I wanted was to give my children a place they could come to and call home (stability and comfort).

I lost my job end of 2009. I kept up with my payments for a while. I immediately applied for a loan modification. I could never get anyone to call me. Every time I sent in my paper work, Chase would let me know they did not receive everything they needed. I was on the phone with Patrick from Chase going over the list they needed, faxed and sent the letter through FedEx and I was told I was still missing docs. I was told there is a time limit for help from the government but I was told my FedEx letter could have sat on someone's desk for 30 days. I have done everything I have been asked to do. I want to be dealt with fairly. I have talked with two reps explaining my frustration and when I mentioned hiring an attorney, I am told I do not need to do that. Chase has the second most complaints from homeowners. Why is the government not stepping in and why do we not ban together and file a lawsuit?

I have until the 16th of the month to get my payment in before it is considered late. However if they don't have the payment by the 3rd, they call me continuously. I have told them I disagree with this business practice but was told I will keep getting calls until I pay. The payment is scheduled on their own bill pay system for the 10th.
I have given them the information that they should be able to access on their own so I do not have to keep getting calls but they will not stop. If there is a grace period until the 16th, then don't harass me with bill collector calls. I am tired of it and have blocked their number due to this business practice since it does not matter one way or the other if I talk to them. They have stated very clearly they will not stop calling until they have their payment. It is completely ridiculous and I have been dealing with it off and on for almost 8 years.

I lost my job in June 2010 and was divorced on August 2010. I'd never been late on my mortgage with Chase. I applied for an unemployment modification loan on August 23rd 2010.
In November, I was told that I received a 3-month trial modification $600.00 less a month (instead of 1646.00 mo). Chase collections immediately called and told me that they would charge late fees and 30.00 day interest. My house was one thing that I didn't want to lose after what I'd gone through. So, I started taking out 401k money to make the monthly mortgage payments, still trying to get Chase to approve a modification for me. I have had stories after stories and more than six inches worth of faxes and paper work I have faxed to Chase.
Today, I am still waiting for Chase to help as now I'm being told that the State of Texas (State Representatives) have delayed loans again. It's been 17 months and I've already spent the 401K money I had on this loan and I'm drained from all this. At this point, I fell two months behind, so now my credit is not good with Chase reporting me and I am unable to obtain a loan through someone else. I believe I have been turned over to twelve different people at Chase to deal with and they have had excuse after excuse.

I've been screaming out for help for about 2 years now, if not more, for a home modification at my current address. From day one, I've sent in the required documents to begin the modification. Every 60-90 days, Chase Mortgage will call and request the same documents that was sent on day one of request for Home Modification. This has been going on for two years. When I say every 60-90 days the same documents, I mean the same documents. My last documents that was requested on Friday, January 27, 2012 (the same documents), was sent through FedEx on the due date, which was Monday, January 23, 2012.
On January 26, 2012, I was contacted by someone saying I was denied, due to not enough income. I knew that my earning was changing two years ago, that's why I reached out for help then. I was told on Thursday, January 26, 2012 that I didn't qualify two years ago, when my wife was put on disability, due to complications with her pregnancy. Okay, so if Chase Mortgage knew that, then why were all the documents needed? I have a family of seven, which includes 5 sons, my wife, and I. Chase Mortgage has disappointed me, and now my family and I will need somewhere to stay. I lost my job in 09/2011, and my wife was laid off, after the long period of time she was off, due to a complication during her pregnancy. We both now receive unemployment. Once my wife, who helps out with the mortgage, had a change in income in 01/2010, I reached out for help to Chase Mortgage. I'm in need of help, where do I go from here? I was informed that my home will be in foreclosure in about 45 days.

I received rate reduction offer by fed ex. I called Jeremy and I asked him if a recent late payment (November) would still allow me to qualify for the program. He said no problem. Two weeks later, a mortgage coordinator named Lindsay called on Tuesday and wanted to set up closing for Thursday. On Wednesday, I called Lindsay and she informed me that I do not qualify due to the late payment.
