If you want to be treated like family use Caliber. Kim ** was always available and went far beyond what we have ever experienced with past mortgage companies. We will always use Caliber. Fantastic, caring people. If we could 10 stars would never be enough.

She is one of the most knowledgeable persons in the industry in my opinion. The entire process went very smooth for a loan -- I’ve dealt with many others in the past and always ran into problems that stopped the loan. Sheryl took care of all of it and even had my numbers exactly where I wanted them -- and then some! Thanks again. Job well done!

I recently did a refinance with Caliber Home Loans and my loan officer did an amazing job. Communication was great and the loan was done very quickly. Servicing has also been good and has met my expectations. I saw some of the negative reviews in the past and I just wanted to give my two cents about my experience as it has been a very good one.

The whole process was good, just at the end at the closing appt, the person in charge of releasing the keys didn't receive authorization to hand them over until she received an email. We were there for about 4 hours waiting.

I am very pleased with the service that I received from Caliber Home Loans, who went the extra mile in getting my loan approved and me in the house in less than a month. As with most home loans, a few issues developed along the way during the buying process, all of which were dealt with in a timely manner by Caliber. Seriously, I cannot have been more pleased.

The agent I worked with was very incompetent. She was late getting the information I needed. She answered my questions incorrectly. The closing was far from smooth. The paperwork wasn't complete and we waited for hours to have the paperwork completed. After the closing, there was additional information required by the Law Firm. And my agent again provided me incorrect information which delayed my getting the right information to the Law Firm. If nothing changes, I will never use these services again.

When Chase Mortgage transferred the servicing of my mortgage to Caliber Home Loans, I was in the final process of my modification application. All of my documents were at Chase & appraisal was completed. When Caliber took over the servicing of the loan, they disregarded the complete modification/loss mitigation package that Chase transferred to them and proceeded to file a foreclosure date for a sale of my home. I called them and they said they did not have the documents from Chase (which the legal dept. at Chase states otherwise). Chase stated, "We send all of your complete loan modification to Caliber, and they should have put them in underwriting and given you a written decision of acceptance or rejection and all your appeal rights." Instead, Caliber ignored my documents. I quickly worked day and night to send all my loss mitIgation documents to Caliber; however, they said it was too late to get them into their system.
I called and spoke with at least 12 different representatives, emailed, faxed with detailed precision. Yet, they were like a stone wall and foreclosed on my home 2 days ago (9-21-2015). It is incredible that such a disregard for all the provisions for homeowners were totally blatantly ignored; and like thieves in the night, they took my home. It is truly amazing. You have to wonder as well about the credibility of the mortgage owners who allow Caliber to be servicers - they should be under federal regulators' and consumer advocates' scrutiny and closed down permanently.

We found a home that we were interested in and it was owned by Caliber Home Loans. We made an offer with a contingency of selling our home. They rejected, no contingency. We understood this, no problems. Our home sold. We made an offer. They took 4 days to respond, only to counter. To be expected, but it was unreasonable, in that it is a complete "FIXER" and they countered our price and they lowered the inspection days from 15 to 5. We couldn't even get electricity on because it has been off for over a year, and needed to be inspected by county, but needed to be done by Owner, Caliber. They refused to have it turned on. We countered again agreeing to most except changed 10 days to inspect without electricity. We were told that there was another offer on the table. Caliber countered back accepting 10 days, and some other changes.
We accepted their final counter. No answer for 4 days, then we were told they turned down the other offer. ONLY TO BE TOLD THE NEXT DAY, THEY MADE A MISTAKE, AND IT WAS OUR OFFER THEY TURNED DOWN. This was all done under "GOOD FAITH" HA!! Caliber Bank doesn't know the concept of "GOOD FAITH". And I was considered using them to finance the home, so they could keep the business, and recoup their losses, on the foreclosure. That's what I consider "good faith"!!! Negotiating with Caliber Home Loans put so much stress on me I ended up in the Hospital with a sudden increase and an extremely High Blood Pressure, which I normally had low blood pressure. Don't risk your health dealing with this company... They only want to get as much money out of you as they can. They don't care about anyone else but themselves!

Pre-approved for a jumbo loan. Our debt to income ratio is nothing. We had a short sale over 3 years ago and provided an explanation for that. Credit is good. Then they call us the day before we are to close and tell us they changed their mind and will not give us the loan. Not only did they mess me and my family's life up they messed up the life of the sellers as they had already moved out. Caliber doesn't care about their clients. They take forever to do anything, and their customer service is horrible. Please avoid them. We immediately went to a local lender and was pre-approved, cleared underwriting, and closed on home in less than 3 weeks.

If I could have given less than one star, I would have. My husband and I applied for a refi on an investment property that we owned free and clear. We started this process in early MAY and had been told numerous times that the loan was approved, we had the approval disclosure from the lender and we were told that we would be closing in 20-25 days. When we would inquire about the closing delay, we were reassured that everything was fine but we were given excuse after excuse for the delay.
We were reassured and we went ahead and had some renovations completed at our home, because we were under the impression that our loan would be closing in a week to two weeks. After we are out all of these expenses for renovations, we are now being told that the loan won't go through. We are devastated, we are now on the hook for all of these funds and we have been hung out to dry. This company and the loan officer ** are unethical and operating illegally. We were lied to over and over and over again. Please beware and do not trust anything you are told.

I obtained a VA loan with Caliber Home Loans in February of 2014. The experience was very good. While there is a lot of documentation needed for a new loan these days, Caliber made that experience as seamless as possible. Since they began servicing my loan, I haven't had any issues at all. We make our payment each month on the first using bank transfer (bill pay function), receive an easy to read statement, and have had zero issues with them. Great experience!!

Beware of this company. If you have a mortgage and find out your account has been sold out to them, get busy and refinance with another company. These people are legal thieves and will do anything they can to try to get your home. Do not believe nothing they tell you via phone, they lose faxes and documentations they receive, they will lie to endless points to try to foreclose and try to get your home. If you read their reviews you will understand how they operate. They will send inspectors to your home and then after they realize it is worth their time, they will go to all steps, ethical or illegal to foreclose on your home.
If you get one month late, no matter if you call and let them know a payment is on its way, they will begin a foreclosure status. I do feel sorry for anyone that goes to their mailboxes and gets a letter noting their mortgage has been sold to this company. Their left hand does not know what their right hand is doing. They lose your faxes but will lie to no boundaries. Their CEO's information, phone numbers and email contacts are bogus. They are NOT locatable. This is one bad company to deal with for the next 30 years of your life. Beware if by all means possible!!

We refinanced our primary home about 2 yrs. ago with Caliber. They were very friendly but closing was delayed, then when we went to sign on our the rental, we're informed that instead of the 3.25% on main home, the rate was 5.25% on a rental. We received notice that they had sold the loan then in July, received a notice that we were short over $1,000 in the escrow account for the rental home. If we would pay now, our payment would only go up about $130 but if not, it would jump up an additional $225 a month. No advance warning about the % jump at closing or the escrow insufficiency. Not happy with the company. Next time we will use our credit union again like we did for our first mortgage.

I received a letter from my county threatening a lien on my home because Caliber failed to pay the taxes from my escrow account. I attempted to call Caliber twice and waited on hold for 45+ minutes each time and gave up. I found an email option and decided to try this. I received a reply simply stating that an insufficient amount of money was sent to the county more than 2 months late. I replied to the email stating that the amount they sent was incorrect. I, again, received a generic template response that the incorrect amount was sent to the county 2 months late.
I consulted a lawyer (at my own cost) to advise me on what I needed to do to protect myself from Caliber's error. I did not want a lien on my home due to Caliber's mistake and incompetent communication. I was advised to check directly with the county as Caliber seemed incapable of providing the necessary information. Finally 76 days after the taxes were due, the county website showed the taxes were paid in full. All Caliber needed to do was to state: 1) Yes it is our fault the taxes were paid late; 2) The original amount owed is being paid in full; 3) Caliber is covering the extra fees and interest. Their inability to send this extraordinarily simple message is inexcusable. I have never missed a mortgage payment and I've paid my mortgage on time every month.

I was contacted today July 8th at 1pm at work. I never received a phone call at home or on my cell phone prior to this. I am not able to have personal calls at work. I do not have my phone on and I worked 11hrs today. I do check my phone at lunch for messages. My boss answered the phone and said I had a call and inferred the person on the phone was not happy. When I answered the phone I immediately informed the woman I was at work. She didn't care then I started to get worried and asked her if it was important because I was at work and had a patient. She said it was extremely important and I was 8 days late on my house payment and wanted to know why and right now. Also do I need financial assistance. I advised her I do get paid tomorrow and would pay it then. Again I told her I was at work and she said. I KNOW. She then wanted to know why I was late. The reason for it? I explained I was ill and am running late due to illness.
Meanwhile people at work are within earshot. I have patients waiting. She was rude. I told her at least 5 times I was at work and told her to never ever call me at work again to use my cell phone. She said she would make a note of it. The really ironic thing about this is I referred my boss and two other friends to them in the last 6 months. My boss closed with them less than a week ago. She asked me who called and I told her because I was so upset. She then said what did we get ourselves into meeting them. I can lose my job over this and they could've just called my cell and left a message but this is so much more dramatic and cruel. The person that called loved her job though. Not a fan of hardcore pressure for 8-day late payment. I know I'm late. Finally catching up on bills after heart issues then this.

My dad has a loan that got sold to Caliber Home Loans in June of 2014. Since then they have no payment history even though checks are cashed every month from my account. They sent no notices, just yesterday got a letter for foreclosure on July 23, 2015. All payments have been made, we are getting a lawyer. This company is a scam and liars. I have all the checks they cashed. Now they say if he pays 18,000 and more for lawyer fees he will be current.
I don't know what to do about this, can anyone help and who can I contact here in Virginia to help me please. They have also taken more money from my checking account without me knowing. All I do is write a check every month to them. That is fraud. My bank is getting involved because of the money they have stolen from me but it seems they ca the best touched. My loan was held by HSBC. They modified and we made one maybe two payments and then we became Caliber Home Loans new customers. They refused to abide by the modification that was in place when they purchased the loan. It was set up for two years with the extra above the payment to go into escrow to pay for the taxes and insurance. They insisted that they did not have such a contract that I would have to buy my own insurance and if they carried it the payment would go up from $1000.00 a year to $3000.00. They also refused my payment and sent the check back. They told me I could modify the loan. So we began the process a year ago with Caliber telling me such lies as we did not receive the paperwork or, "send us this now because what you sent us was not sufficient".
I have sent everything that they have asked for. Now I have not heard whether or not if I will get that modification (more than likely NOT). Now as of late there has been a process server sniffing around my neighborhood. So I guess they have decided to foreclose with no warning or notice. This is by far the worst company for loans or customer service as when you do call no one knows what is going on and everyone always has a different answer. I am hoping that there may be someone out there that can help as we have no where to live. Thanks in advance.

I bill pay my mortgage to Caliber Home Loans and always pay more than what is due. On my latest statement, they didn't apply any of my payment to the loan, as I was so far ahead on my payments. They put the money in an "Unapplied" status and did not reduce the amount of my mortgage. They have done this 3 times this year. Being as interest on a mortgage is added daily, I have been overcharged interest. My mortgage balance has remained the same, even though I pay ahead of time. I spoke with them on the phone and they said they would "Make a note of it". That does not pay the extra interest off. Also, my mortgage was sold to them as Vericrest Financial. This put a negative on my credit score, as Vericrest was a company that lowered your score if you got a loan thru them. In my case, I did nothing as the mortgage was sold to them. Thank you.

We started shopping for a home early winter 2014. We identified a home we liked and made and offer in June 2014. Our agents broker told us they are working with a new lender that promises to close in 30 days for less and the entire process is electronic. I have A+++ credit and it took them over 90 days to close. We missed our rate lock 3 times and they kept saying they could not verify my employment. My employer and HR Vice President did not get an authorization until the 83rd day to complete. Further, once the loan finally closed, they told us they made a major mistake on the good faith estimate and needed additional funds to close. They insisted I must have PMI when we put more than $100k down and the requirement was only $70k.
In Jan 2015 I had my credit ran and was advise I has a Mortgage Collection Account for $886,000 on my credit. I said "That's odd," since my mortgage is around that amount. Later to find out they broadcast on the credit reports as a "collection company". I have spent the last 4 months of my life dealing with the worst customer service and most unprofessional people I have ever had to deal with. It's been a very bad experience. My house was in pre-foreclosure and I was working with Chase who held my mortgage for a loan modification, when Chase abruptly sold my loan to Caliber, Chase had requested a postponement but the attorneys couldn't do it without calibers approval. My house was set to auction 7 days after they acquired it, but it could take up to 10 days for me to get in their system, which means I almost lost my home because I wasn't in their computer. The foreclosure attorney made the decision to postpone it due to the situation. I was initially going to do a loan modification with Caliber and they postponed it again. 3 weeks ago I made the decision to sell my home, I called Caliber and informed them they could stop the modification process as I intended to sell. My sell date is June 10th. No one told me anything other than that's fine. So I hired a crew and we cleaned out the house and put it on the market a week ago.
I called today to tell them I would be having a signed contract this week for the sale, and was informed it's too late the house will be auctioned off, even though I would have a signed contract, they will auction the house off for less than the mortgage rather than wait 17 days to get the full mortgage plus quite a bit as the prices in my neighborhood have skyrocketed. The house is worth about $80k more than the mortgage. All I was told is "it's company policy." I asked why I wasn't informed of this when I called to stop the modification, all I basically got was an "oops."
So I have people who are to get paid at closing, because they didn't tell me there was nothing I could do. So I worked getting the house ready for sale, which I will have a signed contract by Wednesday. House in my neighborhood are selling fast. Yet their policy is to let it go to auction get less than the mortgage instead of waiting 17-20 days and getting the full mortgage. There is no way to contact the corporate office. You just rolled back to their customer service. This makes no business sense at all for either of us.

I recently refinanced, and they got the loan. The website looks to be about 15 years old. Minimalism is nice, but it should still be modern, and it is not. I tried to set up automatic payments, and it required the printing of a form and faxing it. I can't tell you the last time something asked me to do that. Instead, I set up a push from my bank instead.
Today, I received a letter from my insurance company warning me that my insurance will be cancelled if not paid by the end of this month. I jumped on the website, and saw that a payment is scheduled in time, but it is too close for comfort. Also, the amount they're to pay is short by $1. I don't know if the insurance company would be as understanding about that as I would be. So, I tried calling. I navigated a convoluted IVR system that apparently has no reasonable way of reaching an actual person. In the process, I heard that they did make a payment today for the full amount (including the missing dollar).
There are two discrepancies between the website and the phone: payment status and payment amount. I went back to the website and sent a brief message using the proper categories to determine the cause of the discrepancies and to make sure that it actually was paid. To their credit, they responded pretty quickly, but simply advised me to call the phone number again (even though my email stated I was unable to reach a person via the phone number). They are really antiquated with their website, phone, and processes. It's embarrassing. I can only hope that the payment is actually made and that I don't have to deal with them often.

I've just finished reading several recent complaints about Caliber Home Loans and wanted to share my experience and how I resolved my problem. I've had a mortgage with them for less than two years. I have paid additional principal since the beginning of the loan and clearly marked it as such. They consistently applied most of the extra funds to principal. At first, I thought it was a simple error that would quickly be corrected when I pointed it out. But no matter how often I called the Customer "Service" Department, nobody could help me. One very sweet representative told me that "the interest keeps chopping down" over time but did not have the ability to discuss actual facts and figures. Requests to speak to a supervisor went unanswered. My balance was corrected at times but then the same problem would happen again.
In frustration, I submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau in Oklahoma City. At first, the results were disappointing. Caliber stuck to their guns and denied any wrongdoing. But after that, my principal balance was corrected and I have not had any other instances of additional principal funds being diverted to interest. At first, I had assumed the mistakes were a result of incompetence. After my experience, it seemed more like a deliberate pattern of misusing funds because they have been getting it right ever since I submitted my complaint to the BBB. Of course, I don't know that for sure. But my recommendation is to track your extra principal funds very carefully and make sure that your balance is correct. I've had several mortgages with Wells Fargo and their balance has never been different from my calculations by more than a penny or two. It's not asking too much for Caliber to be able to do the same.

We did make a large payment of $1600 but cannot continue to do that. Today is the 8th and we haven't gotten our statements yet. Calling them is in vain because we get automated messages that our account is not in the system. I called Caliber Home Loans, who is my Escrow account provider, to check and they had paid the wrong parcel number (property location) taxes. They said to call back in 10 days to get a status update as they are not allowed to make outbound calls. I called back to discover they paid the wrong amount again, and got the same response to call back in 10 days. Exactly one month later, my taxes are still delinquent and Caliber only apologizes and says that once they receive both of their checks back, they will try again. They told me that the credit to my escrow account, which is now negative thousands of dollars, can take up to 90 days.
My monthly payment is going to increase due to this negative balance, which is not my fault, and my taxes are delinquent and racking up late fees as we speak. I have called numerous times, emailed documentation proving my taxes late and supplying them with the accurate parcel number, and more importantly logged over 7hrs of time on calls. And it's still not resolved. Customer service says they'll look into it and makes promises to call back but never does. When I call back to speak to the agent (by agent number provided) the agent is never available and message is left for them to call me back. Not once I have received a call back from anyone at Caliber. On multiple occasions I have asked for manager or supervisor and they will not put on the phone. After all this time they denied the modification for the reason the LTV wasn't 80%. They did not take into consideration the current debt/income ratio which is better than it has been in years. They would not consider any of the state programs available to help prevent foreclosure nor would they consider a repayment plan. They violated every rule & regulation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureaus.
I have filed a complaint with them, as well as appealing there decisions. I was told by the attorney I hired to help prevent the foreclosure that Caliber Home Loans never accepts the appeal. They have also started foreclosure proceedings prior to the closing of the mediation process. They have fraudulent and extremely poor business practices. Pulled free credit report and found our current Caliber mortgage, our primary residence, is showing as a closed acct, with every loan mod payment as late even though we paid on time.
Topping it off, they take any payments you become behind in during the 4 months it takes to process the loan mod, (they lose most paperwork you send) and call it a balloon due end of loan. However, they report it as a lump sum past due even though there's an entry for balloon payment. I contacted credit bureau. Fight hard, save every piece of paper, and names and id#s of anyone you speak to. They've tried foreclosure over 1 late payment, etc. Have nightmares almost every night since we're effectively trapped in this mortgage.

When my mortgage was taken over by Vericrest, I started getting notices in the mail saying I was behind on my payment and I wasn't. I would get phone calls several times throughout the day everyday. They rejected my last payment and had me to apply for a loan modification which they denied. Our home went into foreclosure. After living in our home for 15 years, we lost it and had to move. My mom bid on it when it went up for auction. She was the only bidder and went up to $18,500.00. They rejected it. Two years after we moved out, it sold for $14000.00. This company is impossible and I ether people to steer clear if at all possible.

I see that we are not alone with our dealing with Caliber. We fell 3 months behind and asked to have the payments put on the back end of the mortgage. They said they could work with us if we were current. One person there, one of many that we have talked to, called and set up a repayment plan. Although it would have left us short on funds each month we had no choice since we were told by one of the other service reps that the foreclosure process could start any day.
A week later we called with a HUD rep and the service rep said there was nothing showing a repayment deal. Also showing every month is a charge for over $300. When asked what that was being used for she said "taxes" but taxes were not added onto the mortgage and the year she said was paid we actually paid ourselves. It came down to it she didn't know what was being paid for with that charge. She said they will send us the information regarding that charge. We are still going through steps to get this resolved but Caliber does not appear to be a people friendly company. And as mentioned by others they don't listen to what you tell them. I do not recommend Caliber for home loans, unfortunate for us they bought our mortgage company.

We immediately called HSBC at the time we was with them and said this is a mistake they said they will help resolve problem. We were in escrow, with Caliber Home Loans as our bank. They lead us to believe we would have a loan. We paid them 150 for the paperwork stating such. Their ineptitude lead to them asking for the same paperwork over and over again, to the point we had to ask for 3 extensions in escrow. Eventually, Caliber stopped returning our phone calls in which we repeatedly asked for answers. Eventually, seller threatened to kick us out of escrow, and we would lose our deposit. We were then forced to take a hard money loan. This hard money loan cost us $17,000 in extra costs. Suffice it to say, we are absolutely livid with this company.
We are taking them to small claims court in Orange County, CA. We have a court date for June 10 2015. PM me if you want to appear in court and help hold this company accountable for their actions. Also, if you are having a problem with them, you can contact the Better Business Bureau and the district attorney. Again, PM me if you need help filing a small claims case against them.

So recently, Caliber Home Loans bought our loan on our house which we thought was really weird as we were going into foreclosure. Both my husband and I went through job losses and ended up moving from our home to a rental in an area where we both were able to finally get jobs. We were so far behind on our Mortgage we agreed with the lender that the best option was to just foreclose. Well, much to our surprise, we get a letter from Caliber stating that not only did they buy our loan but that we qualified for a loan modification, and if we starting paying by February, we would not foreclose. So we said, “awesome, lets do it,” signed the paper, started paying. A few months ago, I started monitoring my credit because I had a creditor call me about cable TV that was unpaid in an area in California that I had never lived in.
Anyway, I realized that Caliber has our loan listed as IN PRE-FORECLOSURE! WHAT! We are paying our loan as they set it up and they have never sent us one letter stating that they are just taking our money and lying to us! This is the most absurd thing I have ever encountered. We should be in good standing. So I called Caliber, and got the automated stuff, which informed me we have not made a payment since August 2013! We weren't even that far behind on our original loan with our original loan holder. Where did they get that from and what about the payments we have already made to them under the loan modification we have with them? I am talking to a lawyer because I smell something a little hinky here and I am not paying a mortgage for it to be reported as in Pre-FORECLOSURE on my credit.

Our mother passed away on January 21, 2014. At that time she owned a home she purchased in March 2013 that was subject to a mortgage that had been sold to Caliber in July 2013. When she passed away, we notified the mortgage company that she had passed and we were not setting up an estate, per advice of council, and were not going to be keeping the home. Since that notification, I received numerous calls and letters regarding the past due balance accruing on her note. Despite my continued insistence that I did not own the home or was a party to the mortgage, the calls and letters continued.
Finally, I received notice from an attorney who was soliciting my business as I was being sued by Caliber. Calls to Caliber were an exercise in complete futility. They were rude, they were hostile, they were unprofessional. They would not transfer me to the legal department I was told to ask for. The phone number they gave was for a disconnected number. They hung up on me. They had no supervisor to talk to and would not speak to me about the matter as I wasn't on the mortgage, even though I was calling about the lawsuit, not the mortgage. Ultimately, calling the attorney of record quickly cleared up the problem. A problem that Caliber should have cleared up themselves rather than requiring us to track down the attorney. I have never encountered a less professional, ruder, more antagonist group of people in my life. Avoid at all costs!

I am overwhelmed beyond belief. From this way, this company has been nothing but disorganized and irresponsible. When Caliber took mortgage over, they sent me a letter that stated my payments would be automatically deducted as I had it set up with my previous mortgage company. Then I receive a letter stating my payment was late. I then had to get medical treatment and had unexpected car expenses so I fell behind. I made a payment arrangement. I submitted an online payment for which I received payment confirmation. They then tell me that was "not supposed to happen" and I was then not allowed to make payment as I fell too behind and it seemed as if I didn't keep the payment agreement.
I submitted a loan modification on Dec. 4 for which they stated in Jan. that they had not received. I had to then submit the application again and till this day has not been processed. I submitted documentation as requested and it has not yet been processed. I am now about to lose my home for which I worked so hard to purchase. I want out of Caliber. I don't want to lose my home.

Our mortgage was assigned or transferred to Caliber Home Loans from Beneficial. Apparently the last payment we had made to Beneficial was not credited to Caliber in a timely manner. We started receiving notices of pending foreclosure action for one late payment! When I spoke to Caliber, they told me Beneficial had up to 60 DAYS to post our last payment. (We did have some late fees with Beneficial, however those fees are not foreclosable.) I made the current payment to Caliber online, however apparently their website was not working and the payment was not credited. Consequently, the payment was made at a later date by phone, and at that point it was delinquent. Even though I have a confirmation of the online payment, Caliber has NO record of receiving it.
I started receiving registered mail packages regarding the Loss Mitigation paper work and foreclosure proceedings packet on a weekly basis and daily phone calls. They would arrive as TWO registered mail packages, one for both myself and my husband, and TWO regular mail packages, one for each of us. I had told them that I needed to review my financial situation and would make up the late fees as soon as possible, and could they please stop calling me daily and stop with the mailings, as I had 8 packets at that point. I was told that I was on some kind of automatic dial list and they really had no control over it. There were no notes to indicate that I had called them or spoke to one of their representatives. I know for a fact that they cannot initiate foreclosure proceedings due to ONE late payment and fees. Their tactics border on harassment, both by mail and phone. I am working to switch to ANY other finance company!

He said if I contacted them to see what was going on and they could correct this mistake and report it to the credit bureaus, then we could proceed. Well I contacted them and the lady at Caliber said that it was a payment I had missed 8 years ago? I remember this payment well. I talked to then Vericrest because I was going through some hard times and she said, "No problem.... Since you have been such a loyal customer.. this is what we can do. We can put that payment on the end of your note." I said great! Well back to my story. I told Caliber what I had done through Vericrest and she said she couldn't find record of that?????
So, long story short. She told me that I would have to pay $786. 00 to bring my account current. My monthly payment is only $223.00 a month. She said It was late fees??? So I was like ok.... I will pay by check over the phone to bring my account current... On February 27, 2015 the mortgage was still not approved after submitting over a hundred legal papers one day at time. During the process the Sr. Loan Officer stated over the phone to me two times first in the beginning of February and on Feb 27 "Congratulations. The loan has been approved." These were lies because after I paid $1000 processing fee, $2,000 for 2 cancelled closings, and $1,000 to insure the house I wanted to buy, I was told that more paper work was needed. Thank God I took my losses of over $5,000 before getting a loan or future foreclosure from Caliber Home Loans.
I later called Regions Mortgage and within 3 days they honestly told me that presently I cannot get a mortgage. Regions Mortgage didn't cost me any money loss or loss of time. CALIBER HOME LOANS COST ME A WASTE OF OVER $5,000 dollars and endless hours of paper work that never should have occurred. Fortunately I pulled out in time and never received the mortgage from Caliber Home Loans which would have turned into a nightmare after I read the hundreds of horrible and scary reviews written about Caliber Home Loans. I will keep this short but our experience with Caliber was nothing short of insanity. If I explained everything that we went through it would take too long and be so unbelievable that no one would finish reading this post; so here's the abbreviated version:
For over 13 months we requested that Caliber stop sending monthly home loan statements via USPS and instead send them via email which they offered. We requested this due to less than reliable postal service as well as receiving partial statements on occasions which lead us to believe that the rest of our statement was potentially included with someone else's mailed statements thus leaving us vulnerable to identity theft or fraud.
After repeated phone calls to the only number available on their website, faxed requests (none of which Caliber ever admitted receiving) and numerous emails to stop sending the hard copy statements we STILL continued to receive mailed monthly statements. And Caliber's response was always the same... they insisted that we were wrong as their records showed we receive emailed statements not mailed statements. All this despite me offering to show them the very statement I just received in the mail!
Despite countless requests to speak with supervisors we were never allowed to speak with anyone at a higher pay grade than the gum chewing, drink slurping, script reading robots that answer the Customer Service phone lines. Only after telling Caliber that we were considering legal action did we have our complaint submitted to their "customer complaint escalation dept" which yielded a cursory form letter stating that their records showed we received emailed statements and not mailed statements. It's worth noting that this mailed response came within 2 days of us receiving yet another mailed statement. (they should have just saved the extra postage and mailed the letter stating that we weren't receiving statements with the statement. Like I said: insanity)
The letter did offer a name of a manager and her direct phone number. Since I received this letter within days of receiving another statement I called her... and called her .... and called her. She never returned my phone calls but rather her "assistant" did finally call back only to say that they were looking into the matter and would return my phone call next month to see if I was continuing to receive statements. Needless to say that never happened.
At the 16th month mark we had had enough and I decided to contact CFPB- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. After filing my complaint they forwarded my complaint to the Federal agency that has jurisdiction over lending institutions like Caliber (I believe in my case it was The Federal Trade Commission). After the feds received my complaint they then filed a formal complaint with Caliber in which they demanded a written explanation and responsive action outlining how Caliber was going to resolve the complaint. Caliber had about 2 weeks to respond back to the feds who then forwarded Caliber's response to me; at which time I could accept the response and solution or I could refute it. Apparently this action got Caliber's attention because they actually responded. I must say I was doubtful that these people would even respond to the feds since they had been so incompetent for 15 months prior. Frankly, I didn't think they had the intellect to understand how serious this had become. To my surprise this action finally got them to put down their Doritos and act.
Caliber's response (in my opinion) was so inept and offered more questions than answers so much so that it revealed a scary view of the incompetence at even a higher position level. Unbelievably, as this response was being sent to the feds we received our monthly mailed statement!!!
However the following month we stopped receiving the statements but to date have never received an email statement. Oh well at least its a 50% improvement.

On December 1, 2014 our office wired out through an Attorney IOTA Trust account a payoff that was good through December 4, 2014. Caliber Home Loans returned the wire saying we had information on the wrong lines…??? We did not learn of this until Friday, the 5th of December, wherein we IMMEDIATELY wired out the payoff NOW WITH ADDITIONAL INTEREST for the one day since we had paid it early on the first and the BORROWER would have been entitled to a refund of the extra interest money. On the 16th of December the client who sold her home through our office called to inform me that Caliber Home Loans had taken another mortgage payment from her bank account and was stressed that she was not expecting this to happen since we had wired out the funds to Caliber Home Loans on the 1st immediately after the closing of the sale of her home. I immediately contacted Caliber Home Loans who has the CRAZIEST phone system you could ever believe - if you don't punch in the exactly correct number it hangs up on you - extremely exasperating and this happens every single time.
On the 16th when I FINALLY got through to a person - JANE TELLER ID **, I was told she could not talk to me as they had to have a Third Party Authorization. I explained to her that I provided that when the payoff statement was requested back on the 18th of November 2014. She said they did not have in the file and could I get the BORROWER on the phone, which I could not. So I faxed another Third Party Authorization to Caliber Homes Loans so they would speak with me regarding this LOST PAYOFF of over $142,000.00!!! On the 17th of December I called Caliber Home Loans back at 11:10 am EST and was told that the Third Party Authorization had not yet been uploaded to the system so they still could not speak with me. I immediately called the BORROWER, who called them again to give her permission again to speak with me, she called me back to tell me that they now had the Third Party Authorization and I could call back.
I called back on the 17th of Dec at 3:40 pm EST and spoke with QUIDA TELLER ID ** who said yes they did have the Third Party Authorization now and she would look into the matter of this missing money and that she would get this to an ESCALATION MANAGER and call me back with an answer. No call back was received. On December 18, 2014 I called Caliber Home Loans and spoke with LISA TELLER ID ** and again went through the whole story and explanation of WHY I WAS HAVING TO CALL and that I had not received a callback from QUIDA as she promised. LISA then said she would send an email to QUIDA to have her call me back. No call back from anyone. On December 19, 2014 at 10:24 am EST I called Caliber Home Loans and spoke with RON TELLER ID **, who said he would get this matter to an ESCALATION MGMT TEAM, wherein I informed him that QUIDA was supposed to have already done that per her promise in my prior phone call. I asked to actually SPEAK WITH THE ESCALATION MANAGEMENT team and was put on hold. After some time TRACY TELLER ID **, with the escalation management team came on the line and said she had JUST RECEIVED the information from my fax of the 17th providing proof of wire out and payoff statement and that she would research the matter.
I explained to her that TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE and days are continuing to count down and they have not posted monies received to the BORROWER'S account that had been paid off and had taken more money from her bank account and that we were 14 days past the date of originally wiring out funds and no one seemed to be bothered by that so I told her I thought this was bordering on theft and that we needed an answer as to what happened to the moneys. She put me on hold and I waited for 6 minutes, when she returned to the line she said she was working with a VICE PRESIDENT now to research the matter and would call me back within 30 minutes.
Thirty minutes have now passed and no resolution. I cannot believe that this company has lost a wired in payoff or they are using it to their benefit without providing closure for the BORROWER. This also has caused a problem now for the new Buyer of the property that was the subject of this sale closing. Now the NEW BUYER wishes to obtain a Home Equity Line of Credit against the property and she is being barred from doing this because we can get NO RESOLUTION FROM CALIBER HOMES LOANS.

I wish I could have anyone else have my loan...do not use Caliber Home Loans.

The October payment that I mailed did not post to my account. The other 4 checks that I wrote on the same day as my Caliber check cleared the bank promptly. I called Caliber and with difficulty was able to speak to a representative who said they had no record of my check even though now it was nearly 4 weeks since I mailed the check. I told her I would stop payment on the check and pay the payment online which I did immediately. Of course, I had to pay a stop payment fee at the bank. On my next Caliber statement there was a $15.00 fee for a returned check - they attempted to cash the original check that they must have had lying around the day after I spoke to the representative. I called and asked that they remove the $15 fee and asked how they could have had my check for 4 weeks without cashing the check. After much discussion and typing and being put on hold, and asking to talk to a supervisor, the supervisor told the representative that as a "courtesy" they would remove the $15 fee. My new statement shows that the credited me $0.10. Just called again to ask for the additional $14.90 credit. They said they would issue the credit in 3 days. We'll see. I think this is a shady operation, and everyone should keep an eye on these people.

You can’t get any real or valid information from Caliber Home Loans because they are not servicers. They are debt collectors under FDCPA. They are using shell trusts like US Bank TRUST NA as TRUSTEE for LSF8 Master Participation Trust. Both of these trusts are Delaware trusts. However, US BANK TRUST NA was closed in 2007. You need to sue them. Don't wait on them. They are lying. I am about to have a court case where the trusts are trying to foreclose on my property. Everything is so incredibly fraudulent and what it appears is really happening is that it is both Caliber and the lawyer(s) who are actually trying to foreclose and the trusts named as plaintiffs are just shell trust companies. Look into this stuff. It is all fraud. Then sue them. And keep suing them.

My loan was sold to Caliber. I have had several problems with them. Sent my first statements to wrong address. Got a late charge for that. They weren't taking out my home owner's insurance. They changed my loan without my permission. They sometimes don't send me a statement. I had to have my original mortgage company fix their mistakes.

This loan started with CBC bank in Kansas - a government appointed bank for the new laws regarding mortgages, loan programs, etc. They were wonderful but sold our loan to Flagstar who was fair, but sold the loan to Vericrest, who wasn't bad but they were sold to or absorbed by Caliber Home Loans and they simulate doing business like the old ABMRO Mortgage which was shut down or bought out after being caught doing many fraudulent things. In February 2014, my mortgage statement came with a $300 increase which should have been preceded by a letter to let me know there was a change. My mortgage was set up on an auto pay to avoid late charges so this increase went unnoticed until two months down the road when they called the house to say the mortgage was going into foreclosure.
My eighty-year-old parents freaked out. Trying to get information from them was impossible. I ask for an account history. 3 months before getting one, I checked the payments posted online and it only reflects half of the payments they have received. I spoke with a specialist and was advised to ask for a loan modification. I waited two months to get the modification kit they promised and it never came. I wrote additional letters asking for the kit and followed the legal recommendation for asking for a modification. I have not heard from this correspondence and it has been 6 weeks.
I spoke with a rep on the 29th of September and asked for her to give me the last four payment amounts and dates received. Reluctantly she did. I ask her to tell me the regular monthly payment due. She did after telling me that the phone call was being recorded again. I told her I knew the call was recorded because I worked for a bank. I added that her company was fraudulently withholding information from me regarding my payments and I wanted it noted on the tape of the phone call that I know they are holding my payments and not posting them so they create late fees on my account, prohibiting me from ever being able to be current.
I also told her about my multiple requests for documentation that I had never received. I asked her to add the last two payments received and give me a total of the two payments which was well over the monthly payment. She gave me a total but never uttered another word until I finally said, "thank you for recording our conversation" which clearly shows that your company is conducting business in an illegal fashion and I will be pursuing other avenues to expose the inconsistency in posting payments along with an incorrect increase in payment to cover the taxes.
When I contacted the county auditor, he indicated there had been an increase in the property value of $27,000 since the last county audit. I expressed my concerns for why my escrow increased more than 50% of the original escrow withholding - it went from $495 to $799, over a $27,000 increase in property value. Any fool can see that they have made a mathematical error in calculating the percentage of increase but they have not researched the error and continue to count my payments short and late. Please help me and help others to be vindicated and do not use this company.

Mortgage has been in dispute for over 3 years with original lender. Lender refused to accept any more payments years ago when we were current and told us that they would foreclose. They waited about 2 years to finally file in court. We filed our answer and counterclaim... Original lender got our counterclaim and took off running. They sold the loan to a trust, supposedly, and the loan is now supposedly serviced by Caliber Home Loans.
Began dealing with Caliber in early 2014. Nothing has been done legally or properly by them since the beginning. First, they added thousands of dollars to the balances claimed to be owed on the loan. I provided documentation to them showing even what the original lender claimed to be owed, and Caliber replied by saying that those documents were not good enough. Caliber added on over $1K in various fees to the account, and claimed that the original creditor did that, not them. I provided Caliber with statements from original creditor showing that they were not charging one penny in extra fees. Caliber again said that was not good enough.
Who owns the loan? Caliber cannot even tell me. They keep changing the name of the trust that owns it. They provided me with faked "documents" that are supposed to be evidence of the transfer. I called them on it and Caliber repeatedly claims that my disputes are "without merit". The story changes every time I speak with them. Now, I learn that the trust that supposedly bought this loan had its cut-off date many months before my loan was actually sold. This means that the loan cannot be in that trust because it is illegal to add new loans to the trust's pool after the cut-off date. So, Caliber tells me right now that one trust owns the loan, but they send me documents that claim that a different trust owns it at the same time.
Don't bother expecting any help from their "single point of contact specialists", because you will get none. I have been lied to every which way, I have been mocked and insulted. I have caught people whom I had previously spoken to, now claiming to be a manager or supervisor on a new phone call with me. Nothing but lies. I have sent in multiple qualified written requests, email complaints at their request, and made too many requests over the phone to count to have them send me proper documentation on this loan.
So far, I have nothing legitimate, only fraudulent documents and more lies. Caliber even sent me documentation that supposedly is from the original creditor, but that has a fabricated account number on it. I checked, the original creditor informed me that they did not originate that document on this loan. Plenty of people from Caliber have promised me that they would "look into it personally", only to never call me back or actually do anything. When I first began disputing Caliber's claims, I was told by Caliber that they would not investigate any claims or disputes from me unless I first sent in documentation to prove my claims. This is a blatant violation of multiple federal laws, but Caliber is not troubled by such things. At times, their representatives have told me different stories... some people swore to me that "Caliber does not have to provide you any documents". Other times, I was told to contact the original creditor and get documents from them. These are not legal actions.
Most recently, Caliber started reporting on our credit reports. This is a BIG no-no, federal laws do not permit a debt collector to report a disputed debt without providing proper validation. Also, RESPA prohibits them from reporting any disputed info on credit reports for at least 60 days after they receive your QWR. Caliber admitted in writing that they waited exactly two days after getting a QWR, then began reporting. Caliber's first response to this problem was to tell me in writing that they were suspending all credit reporting due to my disputes. They did not, they kept updating their reporting as though nothing had happened. I disputed in writing again, and this time, Caliber sent me a letter telling me that they were REMOVING all credit reporting from our reports. That was over a month ago, and the reporting is not only still on my report, but they continue to update it every month.
Caliber has now broken so many laws, so many times, that the statutory damage amounts are more than what they claim is owed on the mortgage in the first place. But not even that revelation is enough to get them to straighten up and follow the laws. Caliber's reps on the phone have at times admitted some errors to me, even agreed with my disputes and told me that there is clearly something wrong with this mess. But then, their "dispute" people send me a letter and tell me that my disputes are "without merit". Even when they admit to a mistake in writing, they never actually FIX the mistake. Caliber admitted in writing that they had not credited all payments that show up in our account payment history, which itself has been in dispute for years. But while they admit that they overlooked payments, in the same letter they still claim that the loan is due for the same number of payments anyways. So, what good is admitting the error when they cannot even do the obvious to fix the result of that error?
We have been denied credit at our own bank, where we have had a perfect credit history for several years, because of Caliber's fraudulent credit reporting. We have suffered real damages at this point. Caliber still does not care. And all of this over a loan that I can prove we were not one penny late on when the mess all began!! Do not trust these people with a loan if you can help it at all. They WILL lie to you, WILL overcharge you, WILL promise you things and never deliver, and WILL break laws in the process.

So I called the county I live in and they said they were $435 a year. I had them fax me paperwork proving that and fax it to caliber. I have called every day for a month and they can’t give me a answer what is going on. They keep saying it is under investigation and they are putting it at HIGH PRIORITY and I need to call back.
I CALL BACK EVERYDAY AND GET THE SAME STORY. It took me five minutes and I had paperwork on a fax with one call. I want to WARN any borrower of this company before they end up stuck with them for 30 years. This is the WORST lender I have ever had. RUNNNNNNN!!!!!
Aside from the usual not able to get through the automated system because it hangs up on you 90% of the time, if you actually are LUCKY enough to speak with a "customer service" agent they will treat you like a piece of trash. Pretty ridiculous considering the last time I called in was because the website was down and I was trying to pay my MORTGAGE early!!!! I actually had to email a screenshot that I took showing the website was down to a supervisor before she would waive the fee of making a payment. So nice to have my integrity questioned, another great showing of customer service! Never mind that it took me over 3 hours to make a phone payment that day...
In all seriousness, I have had HUGE issues with this lender that go beyond terrible customer service. They let my insurance lapse. I called multiple times to ensure it would get paid because it's impounded. And I finally get a notice that it lapsed. So I pay it myself. I would have paid it to ensure it didn't lapse but Caliber assured me "it was taken care of." What a joke. By the time they sent the check to the right insurance company, it was over 3 months late.
And one of the biggest issues I have had with them is making payments. I WANT to make my payments. I WANT it to come out automatically. Sounds like a business owner's dream come true right? A customer that wants to give you access to their account to ensure that you receive the monthly payments. Nope, Caliber would like for your life to be as hellish as possible.
After 1 year of trying to set up auto pay, and them only telling me what they "can't" do, I finally enroll. With Caliber F- track record I decide to set up a separate checking account just for my mortgage payments. When you set it up online it requires you to make your monthly payment to enroll, which I do. I also had a supervisor on the line the entire time to make sure it was done correctly. And guess what, they take out a duplicate payment for the month of September. And I can honestly say I am not the least bit surprised.
I cannot ever imagine being chained to these people for the next 30 years. I will never stop warning people about this lender, whether it's word of mouth, social media, Better Business Bureau, or reviews. They have made my life ** every month trying to complete the simplest task, like making my mortgage payment.

For all three years during the loan modification period, even though our payments reached Caliber's office on time, we were reported as late to the credit bureaus. At end of modification period we were told our interest would go from 2.0% to 8.5% and we also found out the modification was not a true modification because they were charging interest on the unpaid interest every month. And now at the end of three years all the additional interest was added to principal and we owe more on the balance than when we began the modification. This seems criminal to me and we have been attempting to straighten in out for over 1 year to no avail. No one can answer your questions. They say they will get back to you and never do. We later received from them a letter dated May 21, 2012, thanking us for choosing their company for our financial needs and that they are "pleased to inform you that the above-referenced account is now paid in full." We also received from HSBC by mail (postage date: May 22, 2012) the DEED OF TRUST with the LOAN AGREEMENT attached and stamped PAID. Additionally we have the SUBSTITUTION OF TRUSTEE showing the recording was requested by: HSBC Consumer Lending, and when recorded return to Current Trustor (my husband) Gunter ________ and dated May 25, 2012; as well as the FULL RECONVEYANCE with that same information and date.
About a year after we paid off our home HSBC/HFC begins billing us for mortgage payments once again. We began numerous correspondence back and forth with HSBC/HFC as to why they are billing us mortgage payments when we have paid off our home. We have never gotten anywhere and then they began stating we are in default of our mortgage. In January of this year 2014 we received notice that our SO-CALLED Loan with HSBC/HFC has been transferred through a trust to Caliber Home Loans and HSBC/HFC.
Now Caliber Home Loans has been coming after us for mortgage payments and we have responded with numerous certified letters and demands of proof from them that they have the rights to be pursuing us for payments only to receive copies of our original loan documents from HSBC/HFC back in 2006 in response to some of our correspondence and no response at all to some of our other correspondence. They have not provided us with one thing justifying their pursuits against us are in any way legal. In fact, they are not legal, however, the mortgage companies have been getting away with so many illegal actions and foreclosures why shouldn't Caliber Home Loans. This has got to be stopped!
In the meantime, as of a week ago on Monday, August 11, 2014, Caliber Home Loans has filed with the County of San Bernardino a NOTICE OF DEFAULT where they also state on the last page a complete lie stating "2. The mortgage servicer has tried with due diligence to contact the borrower as required by California Civil Code section 2923.55(f) but has not made contact despite such due diligence. The due diligence efforts were satisfied on March 26, 2014", when in fact we have had numerous contact with them via correspondence over the entire time since they purchased this wrongful loan from HSBC/HFC. We worked very hard to pay this home off in full and it boggles my mind that a mortgage company can later decide that they can start coming after us for new loan payment then to sell this illegal loan to Caliber Home Loans and now Caliber is going to try and foreclose on a home that has been paid off. How is this legal.

Caliber Mortgage bought out our home mortgage and they sent us a form to fill out and send back on how we wanted to make our monthly payments. The form was so unclear we took it to our bank where we would be making our payments from and had the loan officer there fill out the form and fax it to Caliber. From there, the Horrors began. After several months, we discovered our bank officer had checked a box saying Caliber should take out double payments. When we discovered this, we contacted them and could not get anyone to respond. Everything left us at a message line and no one would respond.
So we contacted our old mortgage co. and talked to the broker that signed us up with them. He was able to get a phone # to call. It took several times of our personal bank contacting them and us turning off the auto deduct of the payments before they would talk to us... And then of course they were going to turn our acct. to collection. So spent several days back and forth. Finally they got the clue and agreed to refund the extra payments. We got the money but the next day got a call saying our account was delinquent because they stopped the auto withdrawal of the monthly payment. Told them to start it up again and we were good (for a while).
Well, in July, we noticed our account was showing a low balance. My Husband checked the bank statement and found out account was being DOUBLE DIPPED again. SO All that I just went through happened AGAIN. Finally, spoke to a girl and she reviewed all and said she understood and the money was refunded to our account. So we get a call saying we are not current on our payments... Again, they stopped our auto payments from our bank. So in talking we reviewed all and she said she would clear everything up, State Payments again for Feb 2014, and that a double pay was made again and she would take it and apply it to June & July. On the 14 of Aug, the auto deduct payments would start again. I asked if she would send me an email confirming all that we had talked about. She said yes.
The next morning the phone rings and it is someone from Caliber saying my account is delinquent again. I told him to look on my account and he would see what had been arranged the day before. Spent 20 min arguing with him, telling him, "I had never dealt with such an incompetent company." Told him have had several in my 70 years. He finally said he would call back after he talked to the other agent. Have not heard back from him. But the report I asked from the one agent, the security I cannot get past the security and it will not let me open it so I asked her just to send me a copy but have not heard from her yet.
6 Aug 2014: I never wanted them and it would cost me a pretty penny to get out from under them... I wish I could save a copy of this for my records. CALIBER HOME MORTGAGE STINKS, IS INCOMPETENT and there is no way to get around the STUPID SYSTEM. There should be a law to PREVENT A MORTGAGE FROM BEING MOVED IF IT IS UNWANTED. HATE CALIBER MORTAGE.

We had a bad hailstorm on June 9, 2014 this year. Had an insurance adjuster and contractor at my house on the 20th of June. Had a check for the damage to the house before the adjuster left my house. Unfortunately, they make the checks out to my wife and I - and the mortgage company, Caliber Home Loans. I thought the adjuster would be the issue. Little did I know that it would be my mortgage company holding up getting my house fixed.
At their request, I mailed off the adjusters report, minus the first 2 pages, which were just a header page and a page explaining how to read the report. If you ever go through this, make sure you send in ALL the pages. That held things up by a week at least. It was mailed out the following Tuesday the 24th. After all the paperwork they were "missing", but was faxed to them on more than one occasion, I finally found out today that they are cutting the "first" check to me (and the contractor) to get started.
Actually, it was requested and takes another 3 days for them to mail it out. I even sent a self-addressed overnight prepaid envelope along with the report, which I was told that it wasn't filled out the way they requested and couldn't use it. I filled it out the way our post office told me to fill it out, but I guess that wasn't good enough either. After getting nasty finally, then all of a sudden they decided they could use it.
A week ago I asked a person if Caliber was going to pay for the additional repairs to my house that is caused by them holding me up getting it repaired. Was told I would have to contact my insurance company. The check that I sent that was from the insurance company was for around $17,500. I'm figuring that they are sitting on that money in their bank for as long as possible to gain a little interest off of "my" money. If you figure on another 1,000 people or more doing the same thing, that can add up to a tidy amount of extra money for them.
And to make things even funner, when the work is approximately 50% done, I have to notify them so they can send an inspector out and look at it. Once he gives his oky doky, they will send a 2nd check out. Then, once the work is 90% - 100% finished, I have to do that all over again, so I can get a final check sent. It's been a complete nightmare. By the time I get the first check, it will be 3 weeks since I sent them everything.
I will mention that at least the people that I have spoken to on the phone at Caliber have been decent to talk to, even when I got "testy". It shouldn't be this difficult to get my house fixed, especially when I had a check from my insurance company already.

Was having trouble making mortgage payments and requested a Loan Modification. On Jan 11, I faxed 32 pages of financial info to Caliber to start the modification process. After being told that the process could take up to 6-8 weeks, I waited about 6 weeks and contacted Caliber to check on the modification process. I was told that my documents were not completed properly and that I would have to resubmit a more recent set of documents. This process was repeated in Feb, March, April, and May. Each time I submitted my documents, Caliber would assure me that everything was in order and that my modification request was being reviewed. By this time, I was receiving legal documents threatening me with my home being sold at auction. Each time I brought this concern to a Caliber representative, I was told that my house couldn't be sold at auction if I was in a Loan Modification process.
I got nervous about how long the process was taking and so set aside a mortgage payment each month starting in March. I asked Caliber if it was okay to wait until my new mortgage amount was known before I started paying again, and I was told that since a new mortgage amount would be known soon, I might as well wait. Finally, a sheriff stabled a auction sell date to my front door letting us know that the house would be sold at auction Tues, Jan 17th. I called Caliber demanding an explanation and they told me that a Loan Modification Process actually never got started because Caliber never got the documents filled out properly. Five months of thinking that any day now I was going to have a manageable mortgage that I could afford, ended in a nightmare with Caliber planning on selling my house on June 17. I offered to pay 3 months of mortgage in May, but was told that it was too late.
I am now in a position of losing my house and all I wanted from Caliber was a Loan Modification, so that I could afford my payments. Caliber led me to believe that I was in a modification process when in reality, the process never got started. Unbelievable. Do yourself a favor and avoid doing business with Caliber Home Loans at all cost.

Was told my balance to bring account current would be over $12000.00 due to late fees, attorney fees and my home was in foreclosure they told me. I tried to work out payment plan. They wouldn't accept, went from owing $1100.00 to over $12000.00. Ask if late fees, etc. could be put at end of loan, denied, extra payments per month, denied. Never was given list of extra charges and fees, tried to use money held for repairs along with other money to bring loan current, denied. Lost home.

My bank mistakenly sent the incorrect amount to Caliber Home Loans for my mortgage. I called them and they took the difference over the phone with no charge. I also learned that I could pay my payments bi-monthly for no fee which I immediately signed up for. I was filing for a home loan and was told by company we were applying with that we were more than 30 days late with our current mortgage. We have no current home loan with anyone in over 4 years but this company is currently reporting that we are late with our mortgage held with them? As I stated we have nothing current with them or anyone else at present time. I know over 4 years ago they did have our home loan but we lost our home to foreclosure. I want them to stop and desist with their fraudulent reporting to credit bureaus as we have nothing current with them or anyone else as I stated. We have no home at this time and definitely no home loans with any company at present.

My mortgage was sold to Caliber Home Loans last summer. In December I incorrectly wrote my check for our mortgage payment resulting in a shortage of $300. I received an automated phone call mid-month (I later learned from my bank the check had been cashed 2 weeks earlier), that the mortgage payment was overdue (if you've ever received one of these calls from Caliber the tone can be quite alarming before the nature of the call has even been revealed, kind of eerie and frighteningly mysterious as perhaps a loved one is being held captive in a foreign country for ransom). Then the phone # provided to return the call leads to an automated system and leaves no prompt to speak to a live person to find out if the check never arrived, or in my case it had, had been cashed (I only learned this by contacting my bank, Caliber's automated system it appears does not register a partial payment), only it was short. This call came at the end of the week on a three-day holiday weekend. I should note that I firmly believe the timing of the call at mid-month is to enable Caliber to collect their late fee.
When I did finally reach a representative by referring to a phone # on an old invoice, I was condescended to as if I were indigent and headed towards foreclosure (that word was actually thrown at me during our brief conversation as well as being asked if I needed credit counseling). I was told there was no way to pay the missing amount by phone and then chastised that if the missing $300 was not received by the 31st, our loan would be sent to a collections bureau. I tried to tell the young woman our credit rating was above 800, but that was meaningless to her and only seemed to empower her condescension. I did complain to her that I had never had an experience like this with any other mortgage company (on one other occasion I had the misfortune to make a similar mistake with a nicer mortgage company and the matter was quickly and politely resolved) and was pretty unhappy with the way the whole matter of how an incorrectly written check could lead to such a feeling of feeling bullied by a company that held so much power over my feelings of security.
Next came more automated calls regarding the missing money (which by now was in the mail), and then followed by a new mortgage payment statement through the mail based on an increased escrow payment and including the missing $300 plus the late fee. I had actually mailed in my 2014 escrow increase in full at the end of December specifically to keep my monthly payments lower, however the new monthly payment had been calculated at the higher rate as though I had not. When I called again and spoke with the representative re: the increased escrow payment, he calculated the next month's mortgage payment at a slightly higher rate than last year's ($25 more based on the increased escrow, I still don't know why) yet informed me that this month's statement, due in 2 days from the mailing, remained at the higher rate (inexplicably $49 higher) since my full escrow payment sent in December had crossed in the mail. After questioning why I would be paying the escrow (which had already been paid in full) again a second time, the rep informed me that any excess escrow payments would be received back at the end of the loan... to which I replied "When I'm dead?" as I am a senior citizen.
In just six months I have learned to distrust this mortgage company for their unseemly practices of cashing checks and then holding them (as their later statement indicated) and not applying the cashed amount towards the loan; knowingly charging escrow twice and not returning the extra amount to the consumer within a timely fashion; timing their automated calls to retrieve mortgage payments at the date of a late fee being charged; and through making it extremely difficult for the consumer to contact the company after being notified of a late payment. Not to mention the lack of helpful communication with the company representatives. If I could move my mortgage to another company I would do it ASAP!!!

Caliber Home Loans is a complete joke of a loan servicer. They hide behind automation technology and don't provide a way to contact them directly. You leave voice mails and send emails and they never respond to them. The only way that I found to get them to respond is to file a complaint on them through the Dallas BBB. Here is the link if you want to file a BBB complaint: **. If everyone files a complaint there to get an answer, their BBB score will continue to fall (it is currently C-). So if you can't get a hold of Caliber, file a complaint there ASAP (it still takes about a month before they bother responding).

My loan was recently transferred to Caliber Home Loans (formerly Vericrest Financial). The service start date was Oct 1st. I normally send my payments on the 1st of every month since the grace period allows the payment to be as late as 15th of the month. I waited for their coupon book until 10th and finally called the company about the status of my account. The service representative told me that the welcome package was sent out on 9th and I can send the payment when I receive the package. Knowing the company's reputation, I decided to pay it as soon as possible so I asked about my account number with the company. Then I went ahead to create my account on their website and paid the first payment on Oct 11th (using their online payment link) that was due on Oct 1st. The fund was withdrawn on Oct 15th from my bank account. On Oct. 16th, I received their welcome package. I verified that my account in their website indicated that I paid the first payment on Oct 11th and my next payment date is Nov 1st and that no fees were indicated.
On Oct 19th, I received a letter. At first glance, it appears to me that they are implicitly conveying that I am responsible for the interest amount ("Accrued Interest through 10/10/2013") and foreshadowing that there will be a follow-up action from them. But the interest was actually higher than the monthly interest I normally pay on this loan. Also what really threw me off was that Federal National Mortgage Association is the creditor, which is wrong. And what I really despise about this letter is the debt collection notice at the bottom making me feel like I have done something wrong.
As soon as I received this letter, I checked my account online and everything was normal. No fees attached to my account and my next due date was still Nov 1st. I also called them and the first message after punching in my account number was indeed what everyone says: "This is an attempt by a debt collector to collect a debt." But the recorded information about my account was consistent with what I saw online.
After all this, I realized that, this letter and the first message when you call in, is just (hopefully) meant to intimidate their customers by instilling fear. I cannot believe there is still a company like this in this country and I am looking for ways by which I can stop this behavior.

Caliber Home Loans are highly qualified virtually existing parasites with C- rating at BBB and my personal experience with them confirms this fact. Totally Careless, impudent to impossible extent (behind the mask of politeness) they will keep overcharging you, take interest from principal extra-payments you make etc. You have to control them closely and double-check every single transaction. They cannot be trusted. Calls do not work with them. They will tell you what you want to hear over the phone and do nothing and then pretend they've never heard about the issue. After several emails and after you begin threaten them they will eventually correct the balance and next month everything starts again.
These are the type of people for whom to die is and easy escape. Neither prison nor killing is sufficient punishment for the people with their attitude. Unfortunately this the only way they clean the society from these parasites, but nobody will do this.... Not worth to be convicted in crime against criminals and go to prison yourself.

Working with Caliber Home Loans has been an absolute nightmare. I was purchasing a townhome from this lender. The agent assigned to me, lied to me from the start. He was going to get me a lower interest rate than another home loan complaint. NOT SO. Actually it ended up being higher. The agent had no idea what he was doing. When I gave him all of my documents, I repeatedly asked if there was going to be an issue with my income/debt ratio. He assured me there were no problems.
Four days before closure, I was informed they needed more documentation and my income was an issue. I did not hear this from my agent. He had taken a 3 day holiday. My agent was fired (resigned) 1 day before the closing. At that time, the company asked documentation that I had already provided. They also wanted me to give them $5000 more for the down payment. I was not willing to provide them with more documents nor more cash. I lost my $1000 earnest money because we couldn't close on the 27th. I paid $400 for a new appraisal. I gave the agent my debit card to pay for it.
When I pulled up my bank account on August 23rd, they had debited another $50 my account without my permission. When I questioned an agent, he explained it was expedite my appraisal (may be illegal to do it). If my agent had known what he was doing, he wouldn't have had to order an appraisal because I wouldn't have qualified for the loan. I cancelled my account out of concern they would debit another bogus fee. The whole experience was horrible. Even though Steve ** is gone, I wouldn't work with them. Our payment did not pull as they could not find our account information. It has been nonstop runaround with them for the entire month as we do not want to fall behind on payments. Once they found our info, we attempted to setup payments via their website and that was a fail. We called them and they told us to wait to see if the payment would go through; it never did.
Once again a phone call to them and were informed it would be $6 to pay over the phone?! On top of this, we can't setup an additional payment for principal only. The rep on the phone speaking to my husband sounded very shady as she could not explain how the additional payment would be applied. I have requested by phone and email very basic information concerning my account. I have never been late on a payment in my life. You have failed to provide the full accounting of where my payments have gone and when. My contract states excess payments will be applied toward various arrears, then directly to principal. I have been harassed day and night by your bill collectors demanding I provide personal information over the phone to identify myself. I assure you that will not happen. Each time I requested legal proof that Veriquest owned my mortgage and that I receive a full accounting of any payments made. I requested the items be sent by US mail to allow me to research your company and determine the validity of your claims.
When I have spoken to people at your company, I initiated the call. Each time they would tell me that, "This is an attempt by a debt collector to collect a debt," when I asked what debt they were referring to, your people refused to disclose even what they were referring to. I surmised it was my mortgage because I have no other debt with exception of credit cards that are paid off every month and my auto loan with USAA, a reputable bank. I received a statement from your company today that once again tells me this is an attempt by a debt collector to collect a debt and any information obtained blah blah blah. Your statement shows that I paid $3,330.66 from April 22 to April 29. It shows three escrow deductions for that seven day period. It has some category called unapplied funds.
In all my years of home ownership and dealing with lenders, this has been the most stressful experience of my life. I suffer from many medical problems that have been exacerbated by your failure to handle my mortgage account according to the terms of the mortgage I originally signed. You have been abusive toward me in attempts to harass me. I have been forced to seek refinancing through USAA to stop the harassment. I just started throwing money at you every time you called, but that did not seem to satisfy the need. I spoke to employees as well as supervisors. None of them was able to figure out where my money was going, but they virtually all assured me I would receive a full accounting of my payments.
I have been harmed by your company medically and I am incurring unnecessary expenses to refinance my home, and all I have are a few simple requests from your company: 1) Reimburse the appraisal and title company charges for my refinance; 2) I will absorb the other costs as my contribution toward severing this unsuccessful business relationship; 3) I will absorb the treatment costs and medication I have needed to overcome the unbearable stress I have endured; 4) Please ensure any mailings for promotional items, etc., are never sent to me from your company or any affiliates; 5) Please provide me with a thorough accounting of what has happened to the excessive amount of money I have paid to your company in the short time you have owned my loan; 6) I would still like legal proof that I was required to send payments to your company. All I have received to date are letters with greetings and addresses. I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.

Vericrest recently acquired the mortgage on my home. I have had this happen before and it really isn't a big deal but from the start (only about 3 months), this has not been a pleasant experience. During the transition, I was alerted by the old bank that the mortgage was sold to Vericrest and next payment should be made to Vericrest. I did not receive a bill from Vericrest and the first correspondence I received from them was that I was delinquent and that this was an attempt by a debt collector to collect a consumer debt. (This line appears everywhere by the way.) Is this any way to treat a new customer? I received an actual bill a couple of days later and promptly paid it. Bad taste right from the start.
Then the next month when I received the bill, I added extra principal to my payment but oddly there was no place to add principal on the payment coupon (really) so I just wrote it on the payment coupon clearly and on the memo line of the check. Guess what, when I received the next bill, it was all applied towards interest/escrow. When I called to figure out what went wrong, I was told that to send any additional principal, one must send a separate check to a separate address. This should be illegal. Why on earth would they do this? They clearly want to make it difficult on people and want to treat people in an adversarial manner. Shame on you, Vericrest!

BOA sold our mortgage to Vericrest. We have had mortgages sold before and thought nothing of it. However this company calls us nonstop to "let us know" stuff or "confirm information". The most recent call was that our escrow account was going up. We received a $250 refund from last year's escrow because the value of our home had fallen and taxes were slightly less. However within 60 days of Vericrest acquiring our loan, the amount went up.
I am writing this review because I believe Vericrest to be the type of institution that is inflicting stress on its customers that is unwarranted. When we answer the phone, the person on the line indicates that they are attempting to collect a debt and any information obtained to collect will be used. They are like robots and do not agree to stop calling. They call to let us know that we should connect our bank account to them for direct deposit. I have always done this in the past with companies but I feel like, with this company, they would flat out take my money whenever they wanted.
We have contacted BOA because we have been account holders with them for over 15 years. We think that they have a very important role in verifying a company prior to selling a mortgage. We were a customer whose money they didn't mind taking and accounts they have held. Please try and protest and write letters against a transfer to Vericrest should you receive notice from your current mortgage holder. This group is definitely going to see press time as a large lawsuit is eventually filed from their shady practices. Good luck if you are with them now. Wish us luck!

Vericrest took over our Wells Fargo loan, while we were in default. I made contact (and a lot of it - in excess of 224 calls and emails in total) to go through the loan mod process. My request was simple, let me get on a plan to get current on the loan, the rate can stay the same. Over the course of the foreclosure, I made contact at least twice daily for four months for response. I was upside down on the first and had a second, also with Wells Fargo, that was 100% upside down. Wells made it clear they would seek deficiency judgement on the second, forcing us to file Chapter 7. Vericrest agents were totally non-communicative.
Then, on the morning of the foreclosure sale, they informed me that they would only accept a payment of the loan balance plus past due, in full ($1.1M) to stop the sale and that they never make any concessions on loans with interest rates under 6%. I said, "If they never made any mods whatsoever, then why did it take 4 months and 224 communications to arrive at that answer?" They had no response, just a "sorry." Take that back, there was never an apology, just an awkward silence. So, I found out what the credit bid would be and prepared an offer to buy the note for $50K over the credit bid, which they would not even look at. They also rejected participation in any sort of short sale.
The home was taken back at the sale by bank/Vericrest. Vericrest's REO broker, Timm **, or rather one of a group of his workers, all of whom use his name, contacted me the very next morning to offer the "cash for keys" equal to a payment. I accepted the offer, and honored it despite the fact that no one but me would sign the offer. The agent at Vericrest, Ms. **, was called over 40 times, never once answering her phone or returning my call. The home is being sold with an ask higher than the first balance, but then, as they foreclosed, it is perfectly legal for the lender to profit like this.
In the end, Vericrest Cares is a complete farce. They clearly had zero intention of helping, as they saw a chance to profit from an exceptional home in an exceptional neighborhood, and despite my wishes, desires and capabilities, would rather have seen me financially destroyed so they could enjoy a 100%+ recovery on my loan. Each day, I curse the names of the staffers I dealt with at Vericrest and Prudential (their REO henchmen) in hopes that bad karma will befall them. That said, hey, it's all legal, and what are ethics anymore?

I called back and spoke to a different girl who hung up on me when I interrupted her standard line telling her she and her company needed to know I would sue them if hey don't get this straight and clean up my credit rating. These people should not be allowed to be in business. Hopefully you can help. If not, I am contacting an attorney at an expense I can afford.

This loan was done in 2003. I paid $560.00 for 2 years and had an income loss because some of my stores that I was servicing sold out to other food chains. My income dropped big time. I asked CIT Group to refinance me and they wouldn't and couldn't after I told them of the problem I was having. Well, we had no idea until a worker in their company slipped up and told us that there was a title problem. The title had never been put in our name. I paid 2 years and they had yet to tell me that they had a problem. It was all fine while I was paying. What if I had of paid 30 years and after that I still wouldn't have owned my house. Well, we were told to get out in 2005 and we did.
They were going to foreclose on the property. If they had worked something out, we wouldn't have had the problem to begin with if they would have confessed up to the mishap they have done with the title. So, I'm stuck with a mortgage and I have to get out of the home even though I tried all options. However, there was no other option because I couldn't refinance or sell the home because it was never titled properly in our names. I gave up a car to keep the home because of income loss. I should've kept the car instead at least it was titled properly. 3 years go by since we were out and the home sat empty going downhill from not being lived in because they figured out that they couldn't foreclose on us because of the title. So we were being charged $590.00 a month for 3 years in a home we were told to get out of.
CIT Group turned the account over for collections to Tritium card services to become the collection agency for my account in 2008. I told them that we haven't been in the house in 3 years. I talked with them and worked out an agreement for $400.00 a month and I asked since I was paying if I could move back in. Well, we had to do some work since no one is living in the home. If a home doesn't have heating and air and living in it will eventually need work faster, some things must be redone in it. We paid for 6 to 8 months as agreed. Just before Vericrest took over, CIT took us to court over the title problem to try to cover their end. Well, we did go superior court to have the issue resolved. CIT was trying to go to another route to have the title destroyed to get around the title problems.
Nothing came from it because to this day, they still failed to get the title fixed even after court and the account became Vericrest Financial because they bought out CIT Group even though they are the same people who work there. They called and spoke very rudely to me and I tried to explain that I've tried for years to work something out. So we got letters from their attorney in NC that they are going to foreclose. I responded to their letter by email. I had some people call Vericrest and Vericrest's attorneys about my account as well. They said that they were going to foreclose on the property and there is nothing that could be done. Well, the same people that they were so rude to as well on the phone found out they are still the registered owners of the double wide and the attorneys sent a letter asking them to sign a paper stating they were the former owners and to sign off on the title so they could foreclose on us. I've tried since I've found out in 2005 to fix this issue and all they've done was deny the problems.
Well, they found out when they tried to destroy the title to bypass the problem that North Carolina DMV doesn't play games and plainly told them that they can't destroy the title because it’s not in our name but it's in someone else's. That's when they sent a nice friendly letter from the people wanting that Vericrest and their lawyers were so rude to as well on the phone to sign off on the title. Basically, the very people that could have fixed all this were treated with disrespect and rudeness as well. That being according to the NCDMV, they are the rightful owners of the home that I should be on. As for one of the comments that a collector made above, yes it is your job. However, if collectors are mean even though you tried resolve it for years, what are you supposed to do? You’re going to loose respect for them. You’re treated as how you treat others.
Basically, a home I purchased in 2003 has never been mine and it still isn't in 2010.I am into emotional stress, constant worries and wondering what to do next. If I could afford an attorney, I would fight this for sure. Now my balance is $130,000.00 for a double wide which is stupid and wrong since they do not want to accept fault. Proof enough, after all these, I still don't legally have my name on the title of my home as by the title, it belongs to someone else. I purchased title insurance on this loan to protect me as well and now, what? I should be wiped clean of the account and my credit cleared of all these wrongdoings and sufferings they've caused me and my family.

Prior to July 2009, I was never late with payments. I had been away from home for six months and upon my return in July, I overlooked sending payment on time. I received a letter from this company that they were turning the matter over to a debt collector. I received this letter before getting a statement for the month of July. Had I received a statement, it would have brought it to my attention that I had overlooked the payment. I immediately sent enough money to close the account, so it had been closed since August 6, 2009. I requested a letter of confirmation that this account is closed. I also requested a payment history showing how the last two payments were dispersed. Initially, I was told that it would take 21 days to receive it. Today, I was told that it would take 30 days. I feel that this company is giving me the runaround. I would appreciate your assistance.

Before the big mortgage bailout came about, I tried to work with my mortgage company to see if they could refinance. They flat out told me no and to get someone else to refinance me. Since then I fell behind in my notes and asked for a loan modification. My mortgage company is not helping. In January, I faxed all requested documents (not once, but on three separate occasion). Finally, they acknowledged that they received my document and it would have to go in review. It's now the end of April and I'm still waiting on the underwriter's decision, and the modification company needing more information from the mortgage company. How long does this process suppose to take? I'm only getting the runaround. I recently had my property reassessed and the value has gone down. Will they take the new value in consideration?
