They have so many options for you when it comes to withdrawals. You never have to wait long at all. Customer service knows what they are doing and they help you with the process. Payout options is nice. They have several ways to do this. They honor what they say. Never any hassles through any of it. The entire process took hours not days to complete. The funding process is nice. Funds can be completed where and when you want it. You have access to your money. Never a hassle with any of it at all.

Very happy with the customer service I received at AIG Annuities. They were absolutely wonderful there. I felt like they rolled out the red carpet for me in a way, I was treated so good. That's what keeps me coming back. Very happy with the withdrawal options as I don't really mess too much with anything other than my regular account. I have no issue with what they offer. The payout options just work for me. I have researched and researched again. This seems to work the best for me and my family. The funding options are something I am happy and satisfied with.

I get my money in ever increasing installments until one lump sum at the end of my annuity term. It gives me the stability so I don't have to deal with a lot of money at one time. I can not get the full amount at once but the installment plan over time makes it a much more manageable to deal with the different sums. I can invest the money or bank it and spend it. The less I have the more I am not tempted to make large purchases. I get money deposited into my bank account on certain times of the month. Each payment increasing until I have the whole value of the annuity I bought. I bought my annuity at a discount which makes it a bigger savings deal. I bought it through my insurance provider in payments like my insurance so I could afford it.

This is the WORST company I have ever had to be forced to use. The company I am employed with uses this horrible company. They will not give the money you are entitled to for hardship. Even with documentation required! They are very poor investors. The money that I trust them to invest is not invested to increase. It grows very little, and this is in their high investment accounts. The customer service is very pathetic. Every time you call they do not know what is going on. Then after at least 10-15 minute holds you are directed to someone different. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE USE THIS COMPANY. They have already been investigated before and need to be again.

Customer service was excellent helping me throughout the whole process. Prior to using AIG has my investment handler, I had no idea what I was doing. The withdrawals were simple. Had I waited to set deadline I could withdraw with no penalty into brokerage account established with AIG. Payout took between 7-10 days which was rather lengthy and not very liquid. However, when it did occur there were no issues associated with the payout. Funding was as simple as attaching my checking account and providing a routing number for bank. Simply processed like a ACH transaction I assume.

They are great, they are nice and respond quickly. Any help you need they try to find the answer as soon as possible. Sometimes if you call late in the evening the waiting time may take a little bit longer, but I guess it is because they are backed up. There are many withdrawal options, although you must have a certain balance that is in your account, in able for you to withdraw. Anything that is under the minimum required balance will require a fee. My payout experiences so far have been great, I really haven't had a problem, unless my account didn't have enough funds in it in order for me to withdraw. Funding options are just about the same. No real problems here either. You can fund from a variety of ways not really limited to anything unless your account doesn't have the required balance. Satisfaction.

The payout is fast and efficient always when I need it and never any hassle in getting paid. Which is a plus to the consumer and company. My mom passed away and left me some money. We put money in an annuity for our son until my son was an adult. When the annuity actually transferred to him it had already doubled. My son held onto it and it tripled. It was locked for about 15 years. We left it alone and asked our son to do the same which he did. He has a nice sum of money now from his Grandma. He could have just cashed it in for the face value or roll it into some other fund. He kept it in the original fund to his credit.

The local office for American General was closed and my agent was let go. So my husband and I chose to no longer have insurance with American General. I have had a terrible experience while trying to surrender my policy for the cash value. On 1-15-16 I called and advised a representative of our request and she said forms would be mailed to us, so I was sent the forms and completed those on 2-26-16 and mailed those to the listed address, certified on 3-1-16. Then we received another set of forms concerning the taxes since our residence is in the state of Georgia.
We completed the forms and mailed those in on March 11. Spoke to another representative on 3-21-16 and she said the 2nd set of forms were received on 3-14-16 and a check should be issued in 15 to 20 business days. On March 15 an automatic draft was taken from our bank account for the monthly premiums so I spoke with another representative (from American General) and he said a check for the refund would take 10 to 15 business days. My husband's check arrived 4-4-16 and the total amount of the check consisted of the cash value and refund of the month premium.
On April 7th I checked on my cash value check and refund. I was told it should be 3 to 5 business days. Today I called again (spoke to another representative) and was told that my check for the refund of the monthly premium was still in processing and then my cash value would be processed. I was placed on hold multiple times, then I was ask if I could be called back in 3 to 5 business days with a review of the status on my cash value request and refund request. Another representative said he would escalate it (I ask him if he knew what escalate meant). I think he meant expedite it. I am at their mercy so I said, "ok, you can call me back." I was on the phone today for 52 minutes total. I am very frustrated and still waiting on an explanation concerning the length of time it has taken. I really would appreciate to have my check expedited to me.

The payout options for this company are great. I can choose a lump sum or payouts over time when I choose to cash out. It was easy to understand and very helpful. The staff was very helpful by answering all questions I had. Gave references, timelines on early withdraws, penalties. Told me about other companies and how they worked. Gave me info so I could compare the two so I could choose which was best for me. My agent went over the withdraw options and penalties and other options which would be best for me. After all I heard and went over I decide to not withdraw and keep it safe. Keeping my money in I managed to save a lot. My agent was great, kept me up with interest rates and telling me not to opt out early so no penalties would occur. I wish it offered more plans but overall I am somewhat satisfied. All questions were answered. Keep up the good work.

The withdraw definitely gave a number of options on how you wanted to extract your funds. They could probably have offered some more options but it was still pretty good. The payout options also were something that could have been improved upon. They didn't offer as many options as some of the other companies that they currently compete with do. They were also pretty fair and wasn't that bad of a deal.

And the future is always scary for many people but mostly with people who are at or close to retirement. Usually they have other options for financial income after they retire but most of the time they do not or they have very little that would not support them for very long after they retire. The people or workers who are set seem to be the most confident as they go forward in life.

I had a work accident in 2001 and am since 2007 permanent disabled. In the first years I had to fight all the time about the denies they put on the doctor's advice and prescriptions. I had very often when I was going to the pharmacy send back home by the pharmacy, because they did not reach the claim administer to get the go for my prescriptions. I had a Lawyer at the time and when he wrote them it took not long to get the script or the physical therapies my doctor ordered. Time went by and I got my first settlement which was kind like OK.
I did get my rehabilitation course (what for?). After again not getting my prescriptions and I have medical for my Lower Back until I die and 7 or 8 years went by with an ongoing fight of my prescriptions we had a second settlement where AIG decided to pay me just 8k less than they should by Workman's Compensation Appeal Judge decision. I tried everything to get the 8k but even Audit Unit did not do anything about it and the Judge? I don't know how AIG can just ignore/overrule a decision of a Judge and get away with it.
Anyhow in the next years until now I had to fight again for my prescriptions, mileage reimbursement etc. I just came back from Germany because my mom was very ill and I did not see her for years. So I was gone for a year came back in October 2014 and back on SSI. I had in Germany also very hard pain-medication (opioid) to get through the days. So I tried to get my medication or something close to that one I had in Germany and before here again and AIG said "Oh we thought your claim was closed." "No it is not" and finally after I was requesting a doctor in December and on be on a withdrawal from the medication I had all those years (including Germany), AIG came and said "in begin of March yes go to U.S.Health Service they will treat you." So I got an appointment after 3 or 4 weeks.
Going there I knew already they are working of course for the Insurance Company and so it was! I went there even with hard withdrawals and the Doctor told me "No, I can't prescribe you the pain medication" and gave me a kind like a not very useful muscle relaxer and a new appointment for a PMR. 4 weeks later I went to see the PMR which told me "Oh, no I'm not the doctor for prescribing pain medication, I am just giving injections. You have to come back to see another PMR doctor for that". So they gave me another 4 weeks until first of June. Guess I have to live or to die with the extended withdrawals I have from taking over 10 years hard pain medications. And for all of that, AIG gave a damned about my withdrawals and the doctor list they gave me for the doctors I could choose to go to. Is like the Lawyers are in this case?
My case is too old to take me! I thought "Wow this is still how it works", they systematically try to get me on my knees to give up? I was asking them what they would pay me if I let go on the lifetime medical insurance and they really thought I say yes to 15 or 20k? I don't think so! So I'm still fighting this BS insurance which is just a joke or let's say since the Government bought and owes I think over 50% of it, I'm fighting may be more the government than the insurance company? The end of the song is: I can't win and that's a fact, with the most reviews I have read the same no chance to get Justice in this case! Even the Judges and this is a workman's compensation case are in my eyes kind like wired acting against AIG not to pay me 8k and the Audit Unit which told me to look in to it in 2007 never heard from them again.
This is very weird in my opinion. There is no Supreme Court or another court over WC Appeals Court in the US, so I'm done that's what I believe and that's what I'm going through all those years since 2001. Of course my injury has multiple outcomes in all those years. It went way worst than it was in 2001 since I had all that stress I had to go through I have gained to my original Lower Back pain also heavy depressions and fibromyalgia and my neck discs are also bad now, which they have diagnosed last year in Germany not here!
On top of that, my ex employer did not pay my insurance till they terminated me. That means my German retirement/disability claim would not accept my request and said I did not pay insurance in 2003 which should be paid by my ex employer which terminated me in 2004. So what's wrong with this picture? I am burned from A to Z burned. Thank you AIG, the Workman's Compensation Appeals board, and to my ex Employer!!! Thanks for letting me survive like a homeless person (under the Bridge)!

If you are looking into an annuity or any product AIG offers STOP RIGHT AWAY!!! I do not understand how a company so negligent is still in business. My story with trying to get information about my annuity started 3 weeks ago. I initially called just to find out if my annuity has grown and if so how much. They were unable to answer my question and told me to call back later. So, I called back later and talked to another customer service rep and he told me about a website "aannuityaccess.com" that shows you all you information. To my surprise there was 3X the money in my account than I was expecting. So the next day, I call back to find out what is going on. This is where the frustration really begins.
After 2+ weeks of calling everyday, I received misleading information from about 7-8 different customer service people. Once I got bounced around for over an hour and then they were closed. I finally received an answer after tracking down the supervisor Hilda. She told me that she has no idea on how I received access to that online portal and that amount was incorrect. Then she told me that I did not receive the bonus that I thought I was because there were two applications submitted and one override the other. At this point my paperwork is submitted for a withdrawal and we will see how long this next adventure with AIG will take. Can't wait to get my money back (minus all of the insane fees and taxes). Put your money into a 401k or take some classes and learn how to trade. AIG is a scam for Americans who trust American companies.

In August of 2007, I was in a car accident while at work. Our company is very large worldwide so having a big company to write workman's compensation policy for us would make sense. AIG is my company's underwriter for employees injured on the job. AIG paid the hospital bills and all related expenses, including my back pay in wages. Because there was a third party involved in the accident, it would be a few years down the road before I would see anything as far as settlement because I am permanently, partially disabled. AIG turns around, vacates the court hearing and says, "An Annuity has been bought and paid for in your name where you will receive a set amount the rest of your life as long as I am alive and with no cost of living increases."
Now almost two years later, the third party settlement comes to pre-settlement conference but the amount they want to give was a lot less than my attorney had said and somewhere AIG was told it was a million dollar policy we were going against so they were being told something from someone thinking they would get back all their money. I was sitting in my attorney's office as he called AIG. I could hear the Lady raising her voice saying we were under the impression you were going for more, because AIG was calling in the annuity money they spent and the doctor and wages paid out. Arizona Law says AIG is to be paid back in full should there be a third party settlement.
I could not pay them back all of it because there was not enough. AIG said they would settle on an agreed amount and that I would be allowed to keep my annuity. Well six years and once a month check covers rent and food. And yes, I can work. Problem is they never gave me a lump payout to get me a car, dental work, clothing, a place to live and get back on my feet. And the top off is my money is in their accounts drawing interest and making them money. And how many other injured people got the same thing? I did and old AIG collects the interest on their money also? I feel that if the money was turned to me as it seems it should be, I could go back to work and buy an annuity that would make me money down the road and take care of my health and dental.
They have come up with a proposal package to present to a judge and see if AIG says yes because they want an accountability of everything I intend to do with it, so as I do not blow it all in a few years and have to live on the public assistance programs or welfare. Problem is because I cannot make it on the amount sent monthly, I now get assistance from the State I live in for food and medical. I would have otherwise been able to pay for myself, so now the public is assisting me and now the taxpayer has to dole out and AIG collects interest off my money and pockets it. Nice.

Few parents are blessed with the privilege of caring for a special child like our daughter Nicole, who was born on August 8th 1994. Nicole suffered protracted perinatal asphyxia during labor and delivery. The asphyxia caused catastrophic brain damage, profound mental retardation, intractable seizure disorder, hypotonic cerebral palsy, ataxia, global developmental delays and PICA. Nicole is non-verbal and incapable of performing even the most rudimentary activities of daily living such as eating, drinking, dressing, bathing and personal hygiene. She is incontinent and requires intensive supervision at all times to avoid inadvertent self-harm.
During her short life, Nicole has been hospitalized twenty-four (24) times at such renowned institutions as Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, John Hopkins Medical Center, The Cleveland Clinic and Montefiore Medical Center.
Efforts to control Nicole's seizures include a left temporal lobectomy in 2000 and the implantation of a vagus nerve stimulator in 2002. We have tried all anticonvulsants, individually and in various combinations, the Ketogenic Diet, unapproved medications from Canada, medications still in clinical trial and holistic/alternative remedies. To date, we have not found a treatment protocol that abates her seizures.
The necessities for a family with a child like Nicole extend well beyond the usual food, clothing, and housing. Even with health insurance, the out-of-pocket medical expenses are staggering. The unique demands of raising a child, like Nicole, made it impracticable for both of us to continue working. We are facing seemingly insurmountable debt that had us on the verge of bankruptcy.
Back in 2007, we accepted a settlement offer of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) to settle a medical malpractice claim against the obstetrician. After the attorneys took $167,467, the balance was paid to American International Life Assurance Company of New York (AIG) for the purchase of an annuity. The annuity provides monthly payments for $646.50.
The structured settlement annuity contract provides in relevant part: No payee, annuitant, or beneficiary of this contract may assign any payments or benefits of this annuity contract unless the assignment is made in accordance with an order of a court pursuant to 5036 of the CPLR if a court orders, pursuant to the state law described above, that any payment or benefit of this annuity contract be paid in a lump sum, such lump sum payment shall be calculated.
Accordingly, on April 11th 2011, we filed a petition with the Surrogates Court, Putnam County. Our petition sought an order pursuant to 5036 directing AIG to make a lump sum payment in the amount of $100,000. The Court appointed a Guardian Ad Litem to investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding our petition. After reviewing several years of invoices, medical bills and unreimbursed expenses, the Guardian Ad Litem was satisfied that the relief sought was warranted and in the best interest of Nicole and her family. The Judge ultimately concurred and was prepared to issue an order.
After months of seemingly endless objections and obstacles, AIG issued a written opinion to the Court. In the opinion, AIG takes the position that the annuity does not result from a jury verdict and judgment, but rather a settlement agreement therefore 5036 does not apply. While the Judge and Guardian Ad Litem do not agree with AIG's position, there is nothing they can do to compel AIG's compliance. From here, we would have to file a civil action against AIG sounding in breach of contract. No doubt AIG knows that litigation will take a year or more to resolve this issue. Unfortunately, we do not have the luxury of waiting that long.
It is inconceivable that a lump sum payment of $100,000 will impose a financial burden on AIG. However, failure to do so will prove financially devastating for our family. We are pleading for your help in rectifying this senseless injustice.

I was supposed to be charged taxes on interest only not on my money because it has already been taxed, but they keep screwing me. Also, the fees for withdrawal are too high and too often. AIG was with MetLife before and they were much better. I have had to pay taxes and fees for every withdrawal. I got screwed for a lot of money.

AIG has an outstanding payment for services rendered on a claim completed by my office. We have faxed them the claim/bill. They have to act within 30 days, so they waited 30 days and sent a letter saying we needed to physically mail it with the originals. We sent those. They waited 30 days, and then sent us a letter stating that they want a W9 form. Because of this we have not received $2,000 since November. It is now February.

I lost close to $10,000 of this, and I am sure many other people were affected by this. Consequences include loss of $10,000 plus the stress of losing my part of my retirement portfolio.

I have 2 Annuities with AIG. I have been trying to retrieve 130,000 dollars from one of the annuities since December 2008 to no avail. I have contacted the company over 6 times, each time, given an excuse why the check was not received and then told everything was in order. I have still not received my check, I haven't even tried to retrieve the other 120,000 dollars in another annuity. What is the next step? Should I hire an attorney? Do I file a complaint and if so, with who? I need my money! As I explained above, I am out over close to 300,000 dollars. I am close to nervous breakdown. Help.

My agent and I got them what they requested, but they appear to be intentionally stalling to gain the interest that should instead go to me while the funds are in abeyance.

We still on October 17th have not received that money transfer. We were told it would take 6-10 days to process a while ago and then when we had not rec'd the funds in that time frame, we were then told by Webster that it would be 10-15 days, and still nothing. Very Very Frustrating to say the least and not money we can afford to lose.

I will also send papers at that time to send the last installment, which I will pay a penalty on. The fact that the govt. has bailed them out now should have given them enough money to meet the demands of their customers. I have about $16,000.00 in my IRA with them and I want it out of there. In 2005, I had some CD's with AmSouth Bank come due. Dana was an officer of the bank and (she told me) an agent for AIG. She encouraged me to invest my IRA money in an annuity with AIG. Which I did. On Sept. 17 I went into RBC Bank (which is the same bank, different name) and told Dana (who still works there) that I wanted to surrender my annuity. She got ahold of the local agent, Drew **, and had him FAX the papers for me to sign, which was done that day, notarized and FAXed directly to AIG. I was told I would be mailed a check. So far, nothing.
I waited till Sept 29 to call Drew. He said he would check on it, but said that I should already have a check (which is what I thought, too). It took me till today to speak to him again, although he said he would get right back to me. He said that the main office of AIG would not give him any details of what was happening with my account, that I needed to call them and gave me the 800 number. Every time I have tried that number, I have gotten a recording saying they were too busy to help me. There is no e-mail address or any way to leave a message. So what do I do? I'm frustrated and lost my trust in big business.

On April 11, 2008 I went into Regions Bank to open an equity account. I was approached by a very agressive investment sales rep. who suggested that interest rates were dropping and that I should have a fixed rate for five years @ 4.40 or 6.40 for 1 year not to drop lower than 3 per cent for the remaining 4 years.
I felt as though 6.40 for one year would be my choice as 4.40 per cent for the next four years with an uncertain economic forcast would be too low. On August 19 I went into another Regions Bank in Pensacola. I had recently relocated to the Pensacola area and was informed by another agressive rep. that the interest rates were now fixed for 6 years at 5 percent. I was given the figure that I would be saving 10,000.00 dollars if I chose to take the penalty of 4,000 dollars and switch over to New York Life which was paying 5 percent interest for the next 6 years. I agreed.
The rep. from Regions did not tell me about a conservation period when she was making the transaction with
AIG. I told her that I did not want to make the transaction if I were going to loose interest. She assured me that I would not. When I went in today to find out when my interst from NYLife would post to my account, I found out that AIG had never sent my money of 135,000.00 to them.
The interest that I have received from AIG will be deducted from the original investment of 135,000. This amounts to close to 4 thousand dollars. I have lost interest because of Regions Bank since 4-11-08 till today which is Sept. 9. They tell me now that I will not be able to claim my money until Oct 5, 2008 and will not release my funds. Ofcourse, I will not be making any interest that I do not have to pay back to AIG until I get my funds.
