I scheduled an appointment for 11:30 but when I got there, I was told that I would have to wait at least an hour. What’s the point in making an appointment. It was a colossal waste of my time.

I received my eye exam results and was provided with an incorrect prescription. I contacted customer service by phone and was told the prescription was correct without it being properly reviewed. The lady was very rude and not understanding. I assist the exam. I then scheduled an appointment for a recheck, at which point it was confirmed that the prescription was, in fact, incorrect. After receiving the glasses, they broke within two months of normal use. They were repaired but broke again shortly thereafter. Three years later, I decided to give the company another opportunity and visited a different location. I had an eye exam on December 30; however, I did not receive my glasses until January 30. Overall, these repeated issues resulted in a poor experience. I gave the company two opportunities, and both times my expectations were not met. As a result, I will not be using their services again.

Could I rate them a 0? That is what they deserve. Worst communication, worst customer service, work experience buying something online in easily the last 10 years of my life. It's been over a month and I still don't have my item and quite honestly after talking to customer service twice who knows if I will ever get it. None of them seem to know if it's processing, waiting, approved, shipped.... YIKES.

America's Best has changed tremendously over these couple of years I've been with them. I recently went to get eyeglasses for my daughter but it seem as if the free exam with the purchase of 2 pairs of eyeglasses Prices have went up into the 200+ range. After paying for my daughter's glasses I looked at the receipt. Later on come to find out the person who was helping me was adding on extra stuff without giving me the OPTION to pick and choose whether I wanted it or not then she proceeded to lie and say that legally it was required for my daughter to have polycarbonated lenses when that was also optional. Come to find out they receive incentives for people purchasing the upgrades (I called corporate to confirm everything) lol. This was the Northlake Location. If that's how they do business by sneaking upgrades on just for their own beneficial gain I'm not interested in doing business with them In the future.

Shout out to Sha at the Rockville Pike location. She was very patient with me as I tried to find my perfect pair- I went through a few before I found the 2, she was so helpful.

The eye exam was surprisingly thorough especially for the $69 charge. Optometrist spent a lot of time zeroing in on my Rx, and noted that I had the beginnings of glaucoma and should see an ophthalmologist. Remainder of operation was how many different charges they could come up with 1 pair of glasses was $220 which included $39 for clearance frames, no more sturdy than the $89+ framed. Strangely, all the charges were for tints that Cosco gives away, WITH NO CHARGE FROM tHE LENS being ground. Forget about Progressives! Base charge is for RX area 1/4 your lease area. 4 more charge levels get to 2/3 of the lease area. Not able to make full sense progressive. America's Best is America's Worst.

If I could give them zero stars I would give them a zero. My wife's glasses scratched beyond the ability to see clearly within 3 months. They replaced the lenses but it took a month for them to get it right. After another 3 months the exact same thing happened. My wife went back again and they blamed her for the scratches and said she did not take proper care of them. This is a bunch of bull. The lenses were defective. My wife has had and has several pairs of glasses and this is the only pair that she has had this type of problem with. Also, she was very careful in how she cleaned the glasses because she did not want them to become scratched again. America's Best sold her a very poor quality product and blamed her for the fact the glasses did not hold up.

I bought a couple of pairs of glasses about a year ago and I have always gotten plastic lenses. I have had to take my glasses in to be refitted a few times. The last time I got them refitted they cracked the lenses in the upper corner. The lady I seen told me it was because they were plastic lenses. I couldn’t understand this because I’ve never had this problem before. I had to end up buying a single pair for way more than I really wanted to. This information the lady I seen told me I had never heard before. I think she just needed a sale and I was the one to suffer.

I went to the store at North Myrtle Beach, SC. The lady at the main desk was rude and called for a technician in the back to help me find the glasses. This lady was extremely rude asking me whether I picked out my glass frames or not. I was telling her what my eye doctor told me I needed when she interrupted me in mid sentence with condescending remarks. I went outside to cool off and try again; but, her rudeness continued on when I came back in. I went to LensCrafters in Myrtle Beach where they were polite and very helpful. I found the glasses I needed and look forward to receiving my new glasses. I would avoid this place if I was you; you've been warned!!!

This is by far the absolute worst company to ever buy prescription eyewear from. They use a bait and switch pricing paired with untrained staff and they take zero responsibility for their errors. They convinced me my eyes were just not adjusting to my distance eyewear and twice made my $900 glasses with a computer screen script. The doctor specifically told me, "Do not wear the computer script for driving" and unfortunately the untrained staff put me in danger trying to drive with computer glasses. The manager wouldn’t even look me in the eye. Terrible customer experience! The doctor was great followed by the worst staff ever!

When I told her I was new to AB and new insurance she immediately put me at ease and said not to worry she would take good care of me. And she did just that! After putting all of my information into the system she proceeded to explain my options and gave me great advice on the many selections available. When I explained my likes she proceeded to show me my choices. She was very caring, knowledgeable about what AB had to offer, and what was best pertaining to my insurance coverage. Excellent customer service and many choices available. I highly recommend AB and associate Bailey.

My appointment was just before Thanksgiving at the Normandy store. I understood the delay in the return of my eyeglasses because of the holiday. My husband's came in and his were fine. Mine, however were not right. I saw better with my old glasses. They did a re-examine and found the right lens was incorrect. They ordered the new lens. After 2 weeks I called, and the lens wasn't back and they did not know where it was. A week later the store manager had to place a new order after I called to inquire again.
Yesterday I received a text that my lens was in. Drove all the way there and was told there was no one to put it in my frames. So, now I have to drive another 30 miles each way to get my glasses on Wednesday. It has now been almost 7 weeks since my glasses were ordered so I can't even get my money back to go somewhere else. If I could give a minus in stars it would be a minus 10. No communication. No timeframe that mattered and no customer service. Do not use these people if you want any of the above.

This business is a joke. If I could rate this a negative 100 I would. I would not even take my animals here if they wore glasses or contacts. To start, I was a new customer initially coming in to get an eye exam for new contacts. After, waiting for more than hour, one of the young ladies took my eye pressure where she continuously missed my actual eye, finally she got it right. After seeing the doctor, he wanted me to wait 2 weeks to get my prescription for contacts which I had already paid for. The doctor never explained to me what was going on with my eyes and that I needed to come out of contacts and why. I guess I asked too many questions so, they pushed me off to the so-called manager her name could be Sonya, I'm not sure but, I was not impressed. She preceded to tell me that my eyes are red, and the pressure seems to be high, and the doctor wants my eyes to rest a little.
Granted, my eyes may have been somewhat irritated but, I didn't need to know that you have been knowing the doctor for a long time and that your families hang out together. Seriously, ratchet and unprofessional as hell. As a matter of fact, the entire office is a sitcom show apart from the ** Lady with short hair and Mr. **.
Long story short, I ended up waiting more than 4 weeks before I was able to see the doctor again for contacts and it took the trials lenses more than a month to come in. I reluctantly ordered glasses from this place which was a huge disappointment, and I still was unable to see the doctor for contacts because the original trails I had on that I had been wearing needed to be in my eyes 2 hours before my appointment with the doctor. The funny thing is that the doctor allows the office staff to make decisions concerning your eyes and decide who will see him and who won't. There is clearly some discrimination going on here and they all the staff except for a few seem to be under some type of influence.
Please don't waste your time going here, it is NOT worth your time. The doctor is never there, I am not sure if he is taking drink breaks or what but, the women at the front desk and the office manager cover for him. They are all in cahoots together. Please, please don't waste your money patronizing this business. This place needs a complete revamp with a new professional, knowledgeable staff and a new doctor, not someone that seems under the influence and is always late or doesn't show up at all.
I am very near sighted and my prescription for glasses and the contacts still is incorrect, and I would like a full refund for the glasses. I still cannot see and will now have to go to a reputable, professional office to get re-examined for new contacts and glasses. Since, I have already visited this America's best in Smyrna more than 20 times and still no correct prescription, I would like to be contacted by corporate and would like a full refund for the glasses I received since I can't see out of them anyway.

She could not cash me out because she didn't know how to. Went to get someone and they were busy while others on lunch. Not enough people. Lady before me was there for over 2 hours and had to leave like myself. So she rescheduled. Paid 69 for finally someone was ready to see me after almost 2 hours then tried to tell me to pay for more and more and more.
Bait and switch is an understatement. I am going back to my old eye doctor because I thought why not try someone new less than 2 minutes from my job instead of driving almost 1 hour and 1/2 to my dr. office I have had for more than 20 years. Well that was a mistake. So, I asked for the corporate number, finally got through for the man to tell me the store manager will call me back because she is busy in the store, so I asked can I be connect to DM or email or something and all the CS rep was able to give me was their name nothing more. SO, now I paid 69 wasted bucks for NOTHING but misery. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM!!! I was stupid for even trying someone new.

I had another doc’s office check my glasses this last time and they discovered A’sB had ground the script nearly vertically, not horizontally. Waste of money, time and them gaslighting me into believing my brain needed to adjust to new glasses, forcing me into a script that was ground at an incorrect angle and making my vision worse.

Went back to America's Best and complained and was told by the ophthalmologist at America's Best told me the prescription is correct. I continued to wear them, but my eyes kept getting worse. Went back to St Lukes they tested my eyes same script they gave me the first time, checked my glasses again and again stated the glasses that were made the prescription is too strong for my eyes. Went in for a "remote" exam which is apparently a telehealth version of an eye exam. Techs did the first half of the exam and then I was told an instrument critical for the exam wasn't working today and I would have to come back another day to complete the exam. Rescheduled for a week later. Come back and they want to start the entire process over again as they had not saved the results of the tests completed. Considering the apathy and skill levels that I would equate to "read script, press button, get banana" level training and the three hours I had wasted on this place, I just got in my car and went to another company which I always had good luck with. I had a terrible experience at America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses in Kelsey Creek Center, Bellevue WA. I ordered four pairs of glasses—two for myself and two for my wife. After wearing them, I noticed the prescriptions were incorrect, causing blurriness and distorted vision. When I returned to the store, the associate who claimed to be the store manager, “Kimmy,” processed the return but charged me $69 for the eye exam. She refused to correct the prescription, saying it was “policy,” even though I had paid for an exam that produced inaccurate results. She was dismissive, unhelpful, and refused to give her name or proper contact information, handing me a blank appointment card instead.
This was my first experience with this store, and it was extremely disappointing. The incorrect prescription, poor customer service, and unprofessional behavior from someone claiming to be the manager made the experience frustrating and stressful. My advice: Spend extra money and go somewhere like LensCrafters. At least there, you’re less likely to deal with mistakes, headaches, and poor customer service. I cannot recommend this location.

Worst experience ever. Needed glasses, script expired, they offer vision test online, ordered glasses…nothing ever happened. Cancelled the order and tried again, paid for express shipping, got confirmation my online vision test was approved. Almost a month later, nothing. Reached out online twice no one ever got back to me. Called talked to someone they took all the information and transferred me, but didn’t share any of the info I provided. I was then told that I need a valid prescription…explained I did the online vision test they said oh! Let me see what happened this could take up to 15 mins. I asked them to call me back when they have an answer. Their improved suggestion was that I call back in later and go through the entire phone queue again.
Called back, got ahold of someone who actually gave me answers…basically my order landed in exception and they are short handed so they don’t have enough people to address those orders with issues. I said it’s been almost a month! He understood but basically said we have so much work and no one to help….we really need people.
I very kindly let him know that my frustration is not at all with him but I will never use their company again and I will tell people to avoid them like the plague. A month with no update and no contact after two outreaches is ridiculous. They need to invest in some automation if they hope to stay in business. My order is just now processing but I got my express shipping refunded. Maybe I’ll get the next year. Worst company ever!!!!

Although this happened in February, I’ve decided to share it now to help others avoid a similar experience. After moving to North Carolina, I visited America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses at 4434 Fayetteville Road, Suite 11, Raleigh, NC 27603 to establish care with a new provider and update my contact lens prescription. I expected a professional approach and attention to detail - especially when it comes to something as critical as proper lens fitting. I was informed that the consultation would be conducted online with a specialist, and I saw no reason to expect any problems. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing.
The specialist prescribed me contact lenses with the same diopters as my glasses, which is a fundamental and serious mistake that could have caused significant discomfort and vision problems. Anyone familiar with vision correction knows that glasses and contact lens prescriptions are not the same. Thankfully, I have years of experience wearing lenses and immediately recognized the error, so I did not order the lenses through the store. Still, the fact that such a mistake occurred in a supposedly professional setting was alarming.
When I politely pointed this out, the staff member assisting me responded rudely and defensively, insisting that “everything was correct” and telling me to go back to my previous doctor. There was no willingness to listen, no effort to double-check, and no sense of responsibility. To make matters worse, I was unable to get a new appointment that day or even in the following days despite the error clearly being on their part. It ended up being a complete waste of time, even though I had scheduled the visit in advance.
I was shocked not only by the mistake but also by the dismissive and unprofessional attitude. I couldn’t stop thinking: what if someone with less experience had trusted that prescription? This wasn’t just an inconvenience - it could have been dangerous. I had planned to wear the lenses while driving, and an incorrect prescription differing by 2 diopters can cause severe headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, and even temporary loss of consciousness, putting both myself and others on the road at serious risk.
Dispensing the wrong contact lens prescription is not a common or acceptable error. While mistakes can happen in any retail or healthcare setting, this kind of mix-up represents a serious breach of basic professional standards in optometry and eye care. I strongly do not recommend this store. If you value your eye health and expect professional, respectful service, look elsewhere.

Just like to let you know that the scratch coating, UV protection, or anti-reflective coating that they apply to your glasses are inferior! I've owned glasses for over 40 years, so I was happy to find a pair of glasses with the Mack Daddy lens with transitions, (and the BS coating they hooked me on), where I only had to dig in my pocket for $200.00 with the insurance I had, so I figured I had found a new family! What a joke that turned out to be.
I made it a 2nd job cleaning them, rinsing with warm water, spraying with lens cleaner (they referred), wiping with a new microfiber eyeglass cleaning cloth then drying them with another new microfiber cleaning cloth. After a few times cleaning them, BUNCH of small scratches! I researched this and it came back as a cheap coating being applied. I don't know the process of how it's done, it could be the person doing it? Like I said, over 40 years and never had this happen and I had 1 or more of the coatings listed applied to previous glasses purchased.
Took back to the business, explained and showed what was going on and because they had gut hooked me on the insurance for an extra $25.00, they gave me a new pair of glasses and frames. Guess what, the same thing happened. Took back, spoke with the manager and being she was programmed to sell glasses and look concerned when an issue of their inferior product surfaces, bottom line because they felt they did their best in giving me the new pair (which I paid insurance for), so I was SOL leaving looking through a pair of badly scratched lenses because they care so much about your vision!

Good if you want cheap glasses, would not recommend for contact lenses. I used my Medicare for glasses and contacts exam. First got charged more because the girl did my charges wrong. Would have been better to have just got the glasses on my own rather than used my Medicare. The worst was they gave me my contacts without making sure they properly fit or explaining I needed to schedule a follow up. I wasn’t wanting to change brands as I had used the same one for years. I left that day with what I thought was a final prescription.
I used the glasses and when I called within the year to see if they could order the brand I wanted then was told the prescription was never finalized. No calls, no communication that this was what I needed to do. When I did call, I even still had the contacts still in package and was told to arrive wearing them or I would have to wait another 10 minutes. I waited almost 2 hours. Was told I may have to pay for the follow up, yep they tried to make me do a whole new exam after already waiting almost 2 hours, possible another 30 minutes. After watching a customer that was actually in line behind me cancel because of the time it was taking, after waiting 45 minutes with no end in site I inquired about what options were available to me and was told to sit back down and wait until they got around to me and that was the only option and this was from the purple haired, Mali, that actually interrupted a conversation I was having with Erin who was trying the best she could to answer my questions. It would serve you well Mali to mind your own business as you are obviously not the manager and should be required at a minimum to have better training on how to communicate with customer and would be great if America's Best would cut you loose.

I have been a member for long long time however, first time chance to visit this location. The manager was very very rude but I still me and my wife did Eye Exams and Purchased Frames and made eye glasses worth of approx. $1125. One week later at the time of pick up the manager himself gave me two boxes of my eye glasses and gave only box for my wife (without saying that the other pair is delayed). When I requested to make the Frame hands a straight because it was hurting my ears behind... He made faces but did something, still a little bended but I took it. Upon asking a piece of cloth for cleaning glassed he rudely said, "it was no longer our policy to give any eye glass cleaning cloth"
Seriously, after spending $1100 not a single cloth !! Still no problem, I came back. It was cloudy for that day so I couldn't figure out the Transition Lenses worked or not (what I paid for). The next sunny day I figured that it was not Turning dark under the Sharp Houston's Sun. I called and then went there again, the same manager said, If I need that dark lenses I have to pay extra, at that point I become Impatient and frustrated because he never mentioned about the differences.
Upon my own request, he handed me my wife's second pair by saying oh, it got delayed. I then discussed with my wife, she was neither satisfied with the product. We both figured out that he charged both of $119 and $99 each for Eye Care Program WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION... I requested to Return all of the glasses. He said, he can not return our Eye Exam charge the total of $189 for both of us. We received the refund of approx. $925 in total but I feel like it was a Rip Off and a Waste of time to go back and forth against their mistakes and what promise, did not fulfill it. A few years ago I had the same problem at your store in Tallahassee, FL, and the same employee who helped me at the counter solved the problem, and when I received the lenses again they were fine. For me, the behavior of the staff was very unprofessional. The staff, manager included, do not greet you when you come in the store. Manager included, will leave you standing with the delivery people, or whoever, like 3 to 5 minutes. Both days that I was at that establishment, this was the protocol.
The bathroom is disgusting-at 9 AM. I go get my glasses at 3 in the afternoon. The bathroom is STILL, I am glad that my three-year contract is up and I will never go there. I've always had wonderful experiences at America's Best--everyone has been incredibly helpful, and I absolutely loved seeing Dr. **. She's the best! Unfortunately, my visit today changed all of that. I recently had to replace my glasses after my puppy damaged them...again. During that last visit, the employee assisting me said the previous frame style I loved so much was no longer available after I shared with him, they needed to be ordered online like they were in the past. I was told I had to choose from a limited in-store selection and ended up settling for a replacement that felt cheap. I also purchased the $25 insurance, which I was told would help cover future issues. It felt like a great value and wondered why I wasn't offered it at my very first appointment.
Today, I spoke with the assistant manager, **, and the interaction was extremely disgusting. Initially, I asked if she could order the glasses I liked and verified she could. I asked why I wasn't told the frames could be ordered 3 weeks ago, and she didn't offer an answer, just a defensive attitude. When I said not to bother checking the shelf because I already knew they weren't in stock, she mischaracterized it as me "demanding" she not look. That wasn't the case at all.
I naturally have a loud voice, but I was not yelling or being disrespectful. If the store has a recording device, they should watch the video and listen to my voice level and how she talked to me. I was explaining the situation sternly, and she wasn't listening and cut me off several times. ** stated she was the store manager, became combative and argumentative in front of other employees and had the gall to say that's what I was doing and asked me to leave the store. I can't help they have an open floor plan at the store, so people are going to hear us.
She challenged what I said, twisted my words, and didn't acknowledge the poor communication from my last visit. She didn't check my account either to see that I had insurance or try to offer any kind of resolution. In fact, she said I would have to pay full price for the same glasses I originally wanted and attempted to make me feel as if I had done something wrong. Had the previous associate done his job and simply placed an order online like I mentioned, I wouldn't have had to endure what happened today.
Then, to my shock, she told me there were notes in their system about my behavior from past visits. That was deeply upsetting and I'm sure false, as every employee I've interacted with previously has been kind and helpful--and I've always been friendly and respectful in return. We talked about our pets and other things during our session and not sure how that would be considered a behavioral concern. Being kind to everyone is how I grew up and am with everyone I know or don't know. How dare she flaw my character!
** handed me a card for Dawn, their store CEO, who has helped me before and was very helpful. But honestly, I will be going to their corporate office. I don't ** to be treated this way by anyone, much less an assistant manager representing your brand. The experience today was insulting, unprofessional, and extremely disappointing.
I will not be returning to the 2212 66th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL location--and that's a real shame because I was so happy to have a convenient, nearby location with great service. **'s behavior was unacceptable, and I hope this situation is taken seriously. No customer should feel talked down to, disregarded, or ridiculed. I know if I owned America's Best, I would never want an employee like ** representing my company and fire her! Shame on you lady!

I went to America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses in December 2024 to have my eyes examined. I'm on Humana advantage plan HMO and so I wanted to use my Insurance plan which the grand total was $542.95. That's quite a bit. I got my eyes examined and one pair of glasses. I need a extra pair of glasses. It is now July 31st 2025. I'll need to buy the second pair of glasses online and have them delivered, it's more convenient that way since I'm a retired senior citizen.
In this day and age it's a good thing for seniors with disabilities to order everything online. I have my food, clothes, shoes, medications, everything delivered. There's no need for transportation, when you have the internet. So I wanted to order my glasses online. I narrowed it down to four pair, made my mind up to which one I wanted, this took a while for me to pick out a pair, and was ready to use my Insurance to pay, I could take a picture of my Insurance card and I.D. even made a zoom call If needed. But everyone said they didn't know how to do that from the store to corporate office, I couldn't believe it.
I was very happy and content my store, then this happened, my first pair of glasses are beautiful and the script was exact but even with it costing $542.00 no one could help me with accepting my insurance are even know how to use the online app. I figured out the app. But couldn't use my Insurance to purchase my glasses I picked out. I could not believe it. I got the transition lens you know tinted durable frames. I went all out, and couldn't buy them.
I call the store, and corporate office, I was very disappointed to say the least. And couldn't get some help from anyone 1-800-411-1162 and 504 372-8700. Guess what? I stayed on the phone for a good hour, was transferred, spoke to three different people, no one could help. I finally gave up. I had to give a one star, but wanted to give 0 in my review. There was no option for zero, this was unbelievable. They actually have an app and the thing is totally useless for people with Insurance. You have to have PayPal or a credit card, debit. I am a senior citizen. I have Medicare with the advantage plan Humana HMO.. I just retired a year ago and got rid of my car. I see why senior citizens get treated so badly now... So I will give America's Best zero across the board, and I'm going to try somewhere else..

When you go back and ask them to adjust the frames and ask them to measure your PD, they don't. So you spend 4 hours on hold and speaking to customer service only to find out they don't actually do anything but call the store directly. If the store decides no, America's Best company does nothing to intercede on their customers' behalf. Horrible Experience at America’s Best in Posner Park. I had a terrible experience today at the America’s Best location in Posner. I originally missed an appointment at another location and called this office to try to reschedule. The receptionist told me there were no appointments available until August. However, when I checked the website myself, I saw plenty of appointments available — including some for the same day. I went ahead and booked a 5:40 PM appointment online. Later, around 4:40 PM, I received a call from the office saying there was a cancellation and asking if I wanted to come in earlier. I told the woman on the phone I was already on my way. But when I arrived, I was told the doctor could not see me.
I explained that I was having discomfort in my eye — possibly from a contact lens — and I was worried something might be wrong. The staff went to speak with the doctor, but she refused to see me, saying she didn’t have time. I was shocked and disappointed. I had left work early and rushed over because I needed help. To be turned away, especially with a valid appointment and a medical concern, was upsetting and completely unprofessional. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first bad experience I’ve had at this location. It’s clear that patient care is not their priority. I strongly advise others to avoid this location. They do not treat patients with the care and respect they deserve..

Do not purchase from here. I had the lenses in my glasses from the Hyde Park, Cincinnati location replaced because they were terribly scratched up after less than a year. I thought it was because I was using glasses wipes to clean them. Now I am using the soft cloth and spray, and 3 months after replacement, I see the same kind of scratches. I do not sleep in my glasses, and when I am not wearing them I keep them in a case. And the side of the frames broke when I took them off the other night. I have never had this kind of trouble with one pair of glasses before. This was the first and last time I'll shop there. It felt like a real waste of money. I just ordered from Warby Parker to replace these poor quality glasses. I have to pay out of pocket because my insurance only covers new glasses every two years.

My recent visit to America’s Best - Elston Riverfront Plaza on July 1, 2025, was not what I expected. In hindsight, I should have checked the reviews beforehand, but I chose to trust the experience my son had back in 2020, which was positive, affordable, and fit well within our budget. Compared to other options, like the clinic I used to visit, America’s Best seemed like a reasonable choice.
For over 15 years, I had been a patient at Pearle Vision. The optometrist there is incredibly patient and knowledgeable, and always made me feel confident during exams. Unfortunately, the prices eventually went beyond what I could afford, and I needed a more budget-friendly option to update both my glasses and contact lens prescriptions.
I had called several places—Walmart, Target, even Costco. I nearly went with Costco, but in the end, I decided to give America’s Best a chance, as their exam fees were similarly affordable. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by Marilyn, who handled the initial part of my appointment professionally. I then waited for Ms. **, who would conduct my exam. Unfortunately, this is where the experience took a disappointing turn.
During the eye exam, I felt rushed. Ms. ** seemed to be pushing for quick answers, and I felt too intimidated to ask her to repeat a section or slow down. She repeatedly instructed me to blink—even mid-lens switch—which made it difficult to give accurate responses. This left me feeling flustered and unsure of the results. I didn’t feel confident in the vision readings, especially since I wear progressive glasses and also need contact lenses.
After the exam, Ms. ** did confirm what my previous optometrist had said—that my vision hadn’t changed much, if at all. Still, I left feeling doubtful, simply wanting my prescription so I could move on. I need to order glasses and contacts before an upcoming vacation, but I now feel uneasy about whether the results were truly accurate.
I plan to contact another America’s Best location to see if I can repeat the exam there, in hopes of a more comfortable and professional experience. I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, as I know that not all locations are the same and there are patient, dedicated professionals out there. When we’re paying for a service, especially one involving our health, we deserve to be treated with care and respect. It’s disappointing that this wasn’t the case during my visit. I sincerely hope the company takes steps to ensure other customers don’t experience what I did.

I bought 2 pairs of glasses from America's Best for a night sight distance problem. I had never bought glasses before except for the standard "retail" readers which I've been using for years. These new glasses were supposed to be for night driving especially. They did help, but not enough to be the final solution. So I visited a Cornea specialist who specializes in cataract surgery. Long story short, I had really bad cataracts that required surgery. I'm 70 and I have Medicare with a supplemental policy. Medicare will pay for the "basic" cataract surgery but I opted for the enhanced lenses for an out-of-pocket upcharge. Am I glad I did.
My sight is now excellent and continues to get better every day. The sharpness of characters and the vividness of everyday colors is amazing. No pain and a very, very short procedure - less than 10 minutes. It is incredible. America's Best is fine for some folks, but in my case it was pretty disappointing. This has by far been my worst ever experience with a glasses lens company and I have been a glasses wearer for 15 years. I initially went in to get new lens put into an existing frame with an outside prescription. They filled this prescription and the lens were terrible, making me feel dizzy and disoriented. They suggested I get re-tested and then they can try again. We did just that and I got back the second set of lens and the problem was still not solved. Despite being slightly better, my periphery was completely out of focus and there was still a jarring disoriented feeling. I tried to allow my eyes to get used to this for a few weeks and had no success.
I resorted to going to another lens place that filled them and provided high-quality lens that were perfect. Thus, the quality of product that America's Best Lens promises is not upheld and people should exercise caution when buying their lens. I tried to receive a refund on these lens and was informed by one employee that this shouldn't be a problem and that a manager would contact me. The manager never did contact me and so I reached back out only to be denied the refund because I was outside the 30 day refund window.
While I appreciate they have a policy around refunds, they failed to understand that I allowed time to try and let my eyes adjust to these poor quality lens and then had to allow more time to explore another option (trying to give them the benefit of the doubt). All of this takes time and the fact that they lie about the quality of their product and fail to compensate people in any capacity who have been duped by their system is abhorrent.

I am a little older with health issues (which has also caused my vision problems to worsen). Now, that being said, I had decided on the new Pair eyewear and was excited because this was the cheapest way to go when it comes to needing sunglasses also, by using the toppers. By the time I left the exam, I was so frustrated and over it all. I'm not sure if I'm using the right term, but I think it's called progressive. If you are a person like myself who wants to see out of all of the lenses, this all sounds ridiculous.
My honest opinion is that it feels like a money grab. If you are willing to see just out of the center of the lenses and have blind spots on far sides of the glasses, then you pay this price. If you actually want to see out of the entire lens, then you pay more (sometimes a good bit more). The prices they lure you in the door with is not what someone who really needs glasses is probably going to pay, if they buy at all (my opinion). When I purchase glasses I expect to see out of all of the lenses, not blind spots on both sides, or tops, or bottoms of the lenses. I want to see everything or what's the point. By the time I left the store, I was exhausted. I was so let down by all the ways I could be charged, to get what I thought was a normal pair of prescription glasses.
All and all, I bought the glasses using the entire lenses, because that's what I need. Of course my insurance didn't cover it all, so I ended up coming out of pocket. I was so disappointed in the whole ordeal, that I haven't worn the glasses yet and this has been since November. Let me also add, I have purchased glasses from another Eye doctor, and not once did they offer me options about how much of the lenses did I want. The whole thing works. I'll be going back to them from now on.

With the cost of lenses added those $79 glasses cost over $300. For a simple prescription, I will purchase elsewhere from now on. Not going back again in the future.

The $89 for 2 was the only reason I went. Their prices are odd. They make no sense. The $79 glasses are 2 for 89 but the 89 glasses are 2 for 148. Every time I even picked up a pair the lady would run over to the designer rack. Pick a pair she thought was similar to what I just picked up. I asked a few times to just let me look but she wouldn't leave me. I said, "Really I'm more comfortable if I'm not pressured. I just want to take my time and look at the frames." She still didn't leave! Then After being told on the phone and online that it takes 7 days to get the glasses After I paid she said, "Ok you should have them in about 3 weeks." "Wait what! You said a week. How is it not 3 weeks." "Oh our manufacturer is behind." Ok so you only found out after I paid. No you knew and you still said a week and your website right now still says 7-10 days. I don't have them yet but I'm not planning on going back to be pressured and followed around then waiting 3 weeks.

Better to change their name to America's Worst. I went in for an eye exam and found that the optician would be by telemedicine (off site). No big deal, but that wasn't advertised. A technician did the initial exam, and then I waited for the optician, and waited and waited. After 90 minutes the optician had never shown up online, and I had another appointment to go to, so I rescheduled for a week later. I show up on time a week later and their computer system was down, and two people were waiting for 45 minutes already in front of me. I was also told I would have to redo my exam for they deleted all my exam results. I left and will not be back. Don't waste your time. The management of this business is incompetent.

Plan on spending hours there for your appointment. Also, plan on spending more if you want a full eye exam since even getting your eyes dilated is an additional charge. Then plan on waiting a few more weeks to get your glasses. I called today to check on my glasses lens replacement, since my first prescription was wrong. Again, it's been weeks. They were too busy to check. They always say you'll get a text when they come in, but not so. I had to call for my husband's glasses and my original pair. I never go back once this is over.

I decided to go to the new 07840 location for their retail hours and ease of scheduling. That was the only highlight. 12/31/24 I had my initial appointment. The eye doctor herself was wonderful; patient, informative and personable. However, from the front counter to the person conducting the eye testing, everyone is unbelievably unprofessional. From appearance to conduct. The eye examiner dramatically yawned the entire time and her conduct was so bizarre it felt like a prank.
Today is 2/26/25 and I still don't have my lenses. Trial lenses took weeks after my 12/31 appointment. Each time I'd call to follow up I was told something completely different. First, they were expected in that day call back, next call to be told the computer shows them back ordered, to finally they actually weren't ordered. After finally having my trial fitting I spoke to "M" over the phone about placing a lens order. Initially, an incorrect prescription was approved and wrong pricing quoted. Finally "M" called and left a message saying she had it figured out and I just needed to call to order.
When I called and asked for "M" the person came back on the line saying "M" wanted them to tell me she's on lunch and can't talk, so I naturally asked for a call back when she returned from the break room. That was last Tuesday, I never got a callback. I literally waited to see how long it would take until today 2/26, when I decided to stop in and get my prescription so I could order my lenses elsewhere. "M" was there, had no recollection of my name or situation, never once attempted to address me directly, and I stood there while someone struggled to print my information because "her brain wasn't functioning today". Truly an unbelievable and disappointing experience.

But when the new glasses came in the trifocal transition worked in the lower two areas (for computer and reading) but the upper area was out of focus. Bianca and Michelle both worked with me in consultation with Dr. Ron and provided a replacement pair of glasses. But then because of shifting cataracts - which Dr. Ron has been watching for me for 5 years now - the new pair didn't work. So it’s been 1.5 hours and now I’m in the chair, 25 minutes later the doctor logs in, 10 my items later in infront of the technician explaining that one pair should be for computer and one for distance. She said we only have one prescription, I’m like how is that possible, the tech tested both pairs I brought in, talked to her about the distance to my computer and even the doctor stated the prescriptions should help with the eye strain. Now 2 hrs and ten minutes I said I wasn’t waiting to go back in to the doctor, they in messaged the doctor but couldn’t give me a time when he would respond.
I told them this was the most inefficient setup and where was the human aspect. So I told them I was done and I’ll find a new doctor and told them to toss my file I’ll never be back. Talk about cold, profit driven big business. They said we can measure the glasses now and when they get the prescription figured out I could call in and pay. No potential to mess that up right.
