Awful dental. Atrocious behavior on fixing past problems. Especially the office at 612 Centre St. Jamaica Plain Ma 02130, poor assistance from their corporate office in Waltham Ma. I want my $700 refund now!! Been waiting before the pandemic. 3 years..

On my second round of treatment, I was forced to undergo “deep cleaning,” which I understand is a moneymaker for the chain as it has minimal insurance coverage. I was refused my normal cleaning. I’d never had a cavity in my life, in 45 years but broke a tooth and needed an emergency root canal and left with an estimate for over $4,000 out of pocket (and I have very good insurance coverage, 60/40), including a $410 deep cleaning, two root canals with crowns and 16 fillings (that’s right, 16, that I magically developed since my military deployment exam 7 months earlier, when I had 0), most of which were described as 3 surface so extra expensive. I felt like I’d left a cruise ship spa with a menu of products I don’t need but they need to sell.
I needed a cleaning and reluctantly agreed to the deep clean. It was miserable and required 2 appointments, not because of my teeth but because that’s what insurance allegedly requires (my insurance denies this). Both times I left with half my face numb for 8 hours, leaving me unable to work, talk, eat or drink without issues the rest of the day - for a cleaning. Twice.
The first time I had the root canal and prep for the crown first, stupidly agreed to fill one of the “bad” cavities” and then had half the deep cleaning. My bill, with insurance coverage according to their billing department was over $1300. And it still left me with $195 to pay for the other half of the cleaning. Everything dealing with payment is very rushed, for what should be obvious reasons to anyone who’s fallen victim to their billing practices. I’m not ignorant; I’m a government attorney and represented a major federal hospital. I’m intimately familiar with insurance billing practices and collections. But when someone stands over you with a clipboard that gives you the ability to finish your dental work, you sign and pay.
Once I got home I immediately saw I’d been overcharged, even by their own estimate, because they failed to bill my insurance at all for the filling. That was (according to them) and overcharge of $60.90. I was told I’d have a credit. I said I wanted a refund but was told I’d have to wait for insurance to pay the claim and then see if I “owed anything.” That’s illegal. You can’t knowingly overcharge a patient and hang onto the payment on the off chance insurance doesn’t pay what you hope to receive. Insurance is a contract. If the practice accepts a policy they agree to accept the amount the policy pays as well as the patient’s responsibility as payment in full.
I received my EOB from my insurance a week before my second half cleaning appointment, which I was already dreading anyway. Not only had I been overcharged for the filling, I was charged $88 over the agreed price for the crown itself. And the filling? I wasn’t owed $60.90; I was owed $98.90. In total I was owed $191.90. My upcoming appointment was going to be $195.10. I showed my EOB and the billing staff claimed they hadn’t been paid by insurance and offered to credit the $60.90 to my bill that day. I knew if that happened I’d never get the correct amount refunded so I declined. They showed (unsurprisingly) an amount due from insurance that was about $100 over what insurance was going to pay them. Well, that might be due to their bill being off by several hundred dollars at minimum (it stands to reason their amount submitted isn’t the negotiated amount).
Last time for my root canal I paid $700 and they still came to me asking for $90 more a month later. And I can see this is standard practice. I got the staff to admit all new patients get deep cleanings (which is a huge foul when it isn’t clinically indicated - I have no periodontal disease per their own exam). Their next level billing department admitted to me that they overbill this way to collect so patients don’t refuse to pay post procedure. Again, there is zero legal basis for doing this because the billing errors don’t justify holding the correction and refund hostage waiting on insurance to pay. That’s utter and complete crap. I’ll stick with getting my exams from the military when on reserve duty, even if it is only offered once/year. I had a dental emergency that led me down this ridiculously expensive path and was thoroughly fleeced for my trouble. I won’t go back again.

The doctors at this practice are OK, however, the billing department is not gentle at all. They failed to give me a correct estimate with the insurance, and a few months after my visit sent me a bill with no explanation whatsoever (like just a random number), and it took me many days to get them to explain and change this bill. In other words, the billing at this company is very non-transparent at all. Not gentle. In addition, there appears to be a great miscommunication between the billing department, the reception, and the medical staff.
Several weeks after the so-called resolution of my billing issue (in which I still overpaid completely unfairly), and me telling them I would never go to their clinic again, I got a call from Gentle Dental saying "can you come on Tuesday to start on your crown?" Like really?? This crown was never on my treatment plan, by the way, and I never heard about it before. The bottom line: I would not recommend trusting your teeth or your finances to this company, as they might mess up both.

Stay away from Gentle Dental Clinics. They have high turnover of so called dentists. 3 years going there for 1 implant that went wrong. 3 years of going back and forth- being sent to other gentle dental clinics to try to correct the problem - I was told to drive to Mesa, AZ. That be 100 miles round trip. How many more trips will that take to correct the problem? I left the clinic -fed up with them-, having so many different dentist working on the 1 implant. My new dentist -different place- found the problem.. Crooked post!!! I was told by new dentist.. That made my blood boil - never was told about that until new dentist I joined told me.. I asked for refund from gentle dental. New dentist charged me slight over 5 grand to correct the problem. Start all over project.. Gentle dental refunded me only 1,800 dollars.. Manager no longer works there.
There is no grievance dept for gentle dental in AZ... New manager took over has no clue what to do.. Told me to call other gentle clinics.. Been a runaround is what I went thru---3 years. Still asking for more refund.. Not near what I had to pay for correcting the crooked post- new bone grafting and so on... 3 years of running around they gave me. Old manager says she wants to help me. I have to drive 100 miles round trip...How many more trips will that take to resolve the problem??? Is that called help. Give me my money back uuugghhh. I left gentle dental in a flash.. Again stay away- save yourself grief- runaround- high turnover of dentists, I must have seen 4-7 different dentists while going to gentle dental over 3 years. I went to the Gentle Dental office at 702 E. Bell Rd. Phx for an $1100 root canal in April. I left over 2 hours later in pain. Was told it will go away. Went about 5 days later to their other nearby office for the required filling, told them it hurts when I eat. They said it will go away. Because of Covid going on I waited until the end of May then called the first office again, in pain still. They said they no longer have an Endodontist go to the other office who said go to the original office where the root canal was done. Covid raging, underlying health problems, frustrated from getting the run around I tried to wait it out.
By September I still could not bite down without pain. I called the original office sounding as though they had no idea I was in pain, said I could see their new Endodontist who told me my tooth was broken, would have to be pulled and I would need a $7000. Implant. When I was upset that their Endodontist broke my tooth their office manager said "How can we make this right for you?" I said compensate me for breaking my tooth! They have been giving me the runaround since then and have not responded to my claim with the Better Business Bureau. I have now filed a complaint with Interdent their corporate office and the AZ state dental board.

I had all my teeth pulled out and immediate dentures put in. They explained hardly anything to me or any options. They gave me no written information or advice. Being very afraid of dentists I just went with it. Their periodontist charges were insanely expensive as well as the charges for the immediate dentures. When my bottom denture broke they sent it to be fixed and now it doesn't fit in my mouth (way too big) and doesn't feel like it belongs and could belong to a different patient. Their costs for everything are outrageous. My dad helped me pay for this and I wish I had done a lot more research before going to this place. This is in Peoria, AZ. I am not happy with them.

The worse experience ever with Gentle Dental!!!! You won’t want to be treated like this as a patient. I’ve been referred to Gentle Dental by my friend who works at this place to have braces installed for my daughter. Since our first appointment, we experienced difficulties. First of all, the waiting time in the lobby was more than an hour. Then they mixed up my daughter's name with some other different patient’s name. More than that we started out from Lakewood office in Tacoma, after that we were transferred to Lakeland office at Lake Tapps for a month, then we got transferred to Capital Hill in Seattle but these are just small issues that I’m not really concerned about.
My daughter Ella, had her last ortho appointment on February 1st. Then, she was scheduled for March 21 for her last adjustments, and also, the same day, she was scheduled for deband on April 1, 2020. In March the appointment was canceled due to Covid19. In March, Ella started to have some issues with her teeth. She complained about her teeth alignment. She stopped wearing her rubber bands that she was wearing for 24 hours.
I tried to get a hold of the Gentle Dental office but they had a voice message asking to leave a detailed message and someone WILL call you back, which I did leave a message but no one called me back. I started calling daily leaving the same voice messages about Ella’s struggles but unfortunately after leaving several voice messages there was still no response from Gentle Dental office. At that time Ella's cheek started to bleed because the bracket was scratching and her K nine was very sensitive. I started to worry.
In the morning, on April 1st, I got a call from Gentle Dental. I was so happy thinking that finally someone is returning my phone call but this was just the front desk assistant calling to cancel our April appointment. I explained the situation and my daughter's struggles but the assistant said they take only emergency patients and she will get this message to her manager and the manager will call me back by the end of the day. Obviously no one returned the call. I got a hold of my local dentist, and they recommended me getting wax from Amazon for the scratching bracket and extra fluoride for the sensitive tooth until I can get a hold of Gentle Dental. Continuously making calls to Gentle Dental, finally, I got through on May 18th and scheduled Ella’s appointment on the closest date on June 1st.
On June 1st, at 7 am, I got a call from Gentle Dental front desk assistant saying our appointment is canceled. I asked what’s the reason for cancelation, she said that she is just an administrator and she has no information about that, but she has been told to call us and to cancel our appointment again. I asked her if she can reschedule for another closest date available, she said she is not sure when the doctor will be available. I was very frustrated, disappointed, and upset about this nonsense.
Later, that same day on June 1st, I was calling to get Ella scheduled but no one was picking up the phone. I left the voice message that I want to talk to their supervisor. After I left a voice message I was still continuing calling and I finally got through. The administrator apologized for what Ella had to go through and said that she will get this message to her manager Natalli and will definitely get back to me by the end of the day she said. Also, she said that Dr. ** has an available spot this Thursday at 3:50 pm.
Of course, I was happy to any availability by this time, but I told her that I still would like to talk to their supervisor and she was promising that Natalli will call me by the end of the day. I lost all my hope and was doubtful that someone would call me from Gentle Dental that day. It is nonsense, insane, irresponsible that in the last five months I couldn’t hold of anyone in Gentle Dental at the same time I’ve been charged on the monthly bases by Gentle Dental. For what?
On June 2nd, I got hold of my friend that refer us to Gentle Dental and asked for help. My friend checked the schedule and told me that Ella is not on the schedule for this Thursday and Dr. ** is not working this Thursday either. My friend told me that my daughter is scheduled for June 25th. I could not believe what I was hearing. She couldn’t find any managers on duty, however, she referred me to Hope, PCC at Kent office. Hope said that she talked to Molly, HC and Molly will contact Dr. ** and the doctor will call me today, June 2nd, for sure. That same morning when my daughter was brushing her teeth, the elastics that haven’t been replaced for five months were completely worn out and burst.
It 8:30 pm and I haven’t received any calls that Gentle Dental promised me. Looks like Dr. ** and her team disappeared :((. At this point, I’m asking that someone at a higher management level will review my concern and take serious measurements on this case. If by end of this week June 6, 2020, I won’t hear from Gentle Dental, I will take this further for additional legal help.

I have had nothing but problems with this entire company for months now. I have had dental treatments not being done correctly and needing to be done again. I have had a hygienist chart and bill extra things that were never done on TWO separate visits (which is fraudulent charting). There is a continuous lack of accountability and poor management with every single visit. I want nothing more than to leave this place for good!!.. But they have me locked in a contract for ortho work that they refuse to start (after I paid in full) because they forgot to clear me by a dentist first!?!
I could go on and on about the problems that I have gone through here, but I just want to speak with someone and resolve these issues. A month ago, they told me that a manager would call me. Turns out that several of the offices DON'T HAVE MANAGERS! Then they told me I should "leave a review" in order to have the director of operations contact me. I tried to avoid that, and the staff said they would try to email her and have her contact me, but after at least a month I have had no response at all. So would someone PLEASE address this!

The dentist Dr. ** in Griffith, Ind. was terrible! Went for ten fillings & he didn't even smooth them out or polish them! Went 5 times and twice in the same day & he did 2 upper left fillings & grinded down my tooth between the eye tooth & the right front at an angle! The waiting time was horrible like his shoddy work! Had to go back again to get the tooth bonded & he didn't even admit he did that. The only thing he admitted was he had a vision problem! That was on the last visit. Would you go to a dentist that does horrible work with a vision problem? This is the worst dentist I ever went to! Wouldn't even give it 1 star but had to put down something. Don't go there! You have to walk up like 20 stairs to get to the office & my 1st appointment was at 1 p.m. & waited 1 hr. & 35 minutes just to get in the chair & then the nightmares began! This dentist shouldn't even be in a practice!

Two failed visits.
Dr. ** practiced unclean hygiene by going from patient to patient then back to me without washing his hands!! This lasted for four hours, yes I sat in the chair four hours and went home sick, sick for three weeks now. Because it took so long for Dr. ** to get back to me, I wasn't numb anymore so I had to go through the shots all over again. The procedure involved a crown prep, my front tooth looked like a toothpick when he was done. When I asked why it was taking so long, he whispered in my new patient ears, to paraphrase, ("We are short staffed" and that many of the hygienist were horrible). This did not fill me with confidence. I begged for my insurance company to please find me someone else - they said once a dentist starts a crown they should finish it. He told me he ate mercury when he was a kid.
Experience 2:The end result is a botch - I have a bright white mismatch in color crown, yes front and center and cockeyed too. It doesn't quite fit right, but being terrified as I was, we called it good and I hurried out the door never to return of course. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Our family has been going to Gentle Dental (Fry Rd) for years and we have never had a bad experience until today. My son had a Filling done last year and it fell out while he was away at school in a different city so we decided to wait until he came back into town to have the original dentist fix the filling that fell out. When he went in to Get his filling fixed the person they have working in the front desk area asked how I wanted to pay to fix the filling? I replied do you not have a warranty on your fillings? Then she told me that he never had a filling in that tooth and that he had $2200 worth of cavities that needed to be filled. I told her it was Christmas time and that I was not able to pay the bill at this time and I just wanted to fix the cavity that fell out.
The woman at the front desk continue to argue with me and say there was never a cavity filled and then repeatedly told me and my son that we could not afford the services in an attempt to what seemed embarrassed us or make us feel bad that we We’re not able to pay for her long list of expenses. I would never take my child back to a place that would embarrass somebody and this type of behavior is very unprofessional.
After reading all the reviews on this business I see that they are all one star reviews and I’m assuming it’s all because of this lady at the front desk because we have never had a problem with any of the other staff there, they have all been nothing but respectful of us after spending thousands of dollars in that office over the years. We will be taking our business elsewhere because we will not be treated this way by a receptionist who wants to put others down. I hope they replace her with somebody who is friendly and respectful of all people so that they can regain some of their business back in the future.

I have been going to Gentle Dental for many years because of the convenient location on relationship to my house. I have very good dental hygiene and have not had a cavity in over a decade. Gentle Dental has a pretty high turn over of dentists and staff in general. Every year for the last 3 years there is a new dentist. Billing department is a mess. You pay for treatment and next time you come to your appointment they try to charge you again for something you paid a year ago.
Scheduling department is a mess. I got 2 wrong appointment dates and last minute cancellations on my dental cleaning appointment. But the worse is what just happened to me last week. I got recommended two unnecessary fillings, for "potential cavities" that were seen on my xrays. The new dentist said he could see cavities forming on two of my teeth. He never pointed out on my mouth which were the actual teeth he was referring too. I requested for him to see the two previous years of xrays to compare, and he mentioned the cavities were there, but the two previous dentists never mentioned anything about them. The dentist told me that he was going to do two small incisions on the teeth, very minor.
I decided to trust the dentist, and the day of the treatment, he made huge holes in my two teeth, opposite than what he mentioned, and was in a rush between my dentist chair and another patient in another room. I arrived with no pain, and now I cannot chew because I have shooting pain. I suspect this is what is called "drill and fill" just to cash on insurance, and that I got unnecessary treatment done, and opposite to a small incision got a huge ones to turn them into potential root canals = more insurance money, and even potentially a crown, even more money!! I feel I was preyed upon!! After I was done with my treatment the assistant said, "Let's scheduled your next treatment for two crowns..." If you have an alternative, do not ever go to Gentle Dental.

They won’t even let you in the door without paying something up front (like at least 850). Where do they think people can get 5k instantly?? Had deep scaling 2 sides which cost more than 2k. We had to spend 3k on my husband’s work so that’s 5k and they claim more is needed for both of us.
They don’t care about the patient, all they care about is the $. They are out of control! I need to find a dentist in my area that will take Avia Dental Plan and reasonable prices. You could almost lose your home going to them! One last and most important question, are these folks who have so many complaints against them actually investigated with some results???

I had scheduled an appointment to have all of my upper teeth pulled and replaced with a full upper denture. After my teeth were pulled, I was given a sheet of instructions for after care and went home. They instructed my girlfriend to make sure I get the dentures in my mouth because when they tried over and over to get them into my mouth and stay, that the bleeding became very heavy. I never expected to be put through that kind of pain especially right after having all my teeth pulled. I went to all of my scheduled follow up appointments for about a year (every few months) for adjustments. These teeth never fit right, so every time I went in a different person was filing away at these dentures that were starting to look like cheese cloth.
I told them I could not eat right, self conscious about talking to crews that I ran, and told them I didn't pay thousands of dollars to have see through, uneven teeth that I can't even eat with. They wanted me to do more adjustment appointments. I spent a year doing that and that didn't get me anywhere except living my life around time that was convenient them. I was a loyal customer of Gentle Dental for 3 years. The quality of the dental work was good, no complaints there. The billing department is another story. I received a bill in the mail 9 months after the date of service. I had paid my balance in full the day of my visit with my credit card. The services they billed my insurance for didn’t add up, way too many discrepancies. I filed an appeal with my insurance company which was denied because it was not filed in the 90-day appeal window.
The scam is that they wait until your deadline to file an appeal has passed and then they bill you. The appeal is automatically denied because it wasn’t filed in the allowed timeframe and then you’re responsible to pay whatever is on the invoice. Since the appeal decision, I’ve tried to contact them several times to settle my account, but they won’t return my call or answer the phone. I would like to share with you my experience with Gentle Dental in Moore OK. I called Gentle Dental to make an appointment to get my wisdom teeth removed. They asked for a referral from my dentist, at Lifetime dental. I went to Lifetime dental and watched the secretary transfer my information to Gentle Dental. I called the next day and they said they never received it. I called again and had them send my request to Dr. ** herself. The secretary at Gentle Dental said her assistant was not in and to leave my information and she would get back to me the following day. I did not receive a call. I called again and Gentle Dental told me Dr. Blair ** does not have an assistant and to send the referral to the Manager. Lifetime dental sent the referral a third time. As you can guess they did not receive it.
My sweet Mother in Law decided to call for me because I have been in so much pain. She had Lifetime Dental send a fax to Gentle Dental. The secretary said they did not receive it and made the excuse that they do not have good working machines. The secretary proceeded to tell me the soonest I could get in was the end of March for an appointment, because Dr. ** only works once a month. I am assuming all of this is taking place because of my insurance plan. I have Aetna DMO and no one in Oklahoma takes Aetna DMO except Dr. **.
My experience with Gentle Dental is they avoid Aetna DMO like the plague so they do not have to deal with their policies. I am very disappointed with the way Gentle Dental handles situations. I will not refer Gentle Dental, even if you have full coverage like Aetna DMO wisdom removal, because they will not accept it! My advice would be to pay out of pocket, if your insurance doesn't cover, to Wisdom Tooth Center. They are helpful caring people who get you an appointment right away, and who tell the truth about your situation.

If I could rate this dentist office a "0", I would! 1) Let's just start at 2010: I, along with my insurance, paid several thousands of dollars to replace my silver fillings with porcelain. The dentist who did the work, replaced my silver fillings with a cheap composite, that appears as a filling in all of my x-rays; it is hard for dentists to decipher if it is composite or a filling. 2) I made my daughter an appointment to be seen, and the day of her appointment, she was informed that she would have to pay a lot of money (up front). I advised them, I spoke with her insurance, and that she shouldn't be out of any money (out of pocket). My daughter cancelled, and rescheduled to give the office an opportunity to get it straightened out.
No one ever called back to verify if they confirmed with her insurance, that there is no out of pocket. I made an appointment, for her, with Diamond Dental. She got right in, they confirmed her insurance required no out of pocket expense, the same day, and notified her before her appointment. 3) Because the dentist screwed up my dental work (in 2010), I continued to go there for fear that a new dentist may mistake all of my bad composite fillings as cavities. I went, on Dec 28, 2018, to get 2 fillings. Since the day that I left, one of the teeth that I had filled has been bothering me, and gradually got worse. I called on 02/25/18, to make an appt. to see the dentist. My appt. was made for 02/04/19. I was contacted by one of their (rude) office assistants, at 09:31 (the morning of my appt.). She called to advise me that I would need to pay $109, before being seen.
My insurance didn't pay that amount, and the amount that was quoted was an estimate. Okay, understood, but I asked her why she waited to the day of my appt., to inform me of this, when I made the appt. almost 2 weeks ago. Her response was, I made the appt. on 02/25, and she just called my insurance on 02/01, and found out that I owed a balance. So basically, I have to continue going in pain, due to the dentist's error, until I have the balance paid (that I wasn't informed about until the day of my appointment). These people are so unprofessional, used inferior products on my teeth, and probably billed my insurance and charged me for what should've/could've been used. Gentle Dental Malden MA made the first set of dentures. I could not wear them. They were too big for my mouth. After talking to a lawyer they made me a second set of dentures. This set fit better but the bottoms would only stay fixed for an hour or two. Had to keep putting of Poligrip five and six time a day. When I told this to the doctor she said I had to keep applying the Poligrip. I had another set of teeth by another dentist and they fit fine. I think Gentle Dental should refund my money because they did not give me a product I can use. The cost of the dentures was $2,732.32

Worst experience at a dentist office ever. Beside the fact that the female dentist had no upper body strength to pull my tooth out, and it took her 20 minutes to get it out. She then wrote me a prescription for a pain medication that did not exist! I had to go all weekend in pain because no prescribing doctor was in to rewrite the prescription. Receptionist was nice and assistants were overly nice and helpful, but I will be changing dentist ASAP. She judged me and unnecessarily hurt me. What a crappy person. Let alone a doctor.

After reading all the bad reviews, I can see that this confirms my thoughts of them soaking the insurance companies! I had a hip replacement 3 years ago and since then have taken extreme caution in the cleaning and care of my teeth to avoid infections. I was scheduled to have a regular cleaning at Gentle Dental Thorndale, PA. The tech was so rough and I believe made my gums bleed excessively on purpose. She kept stopping and told me I need to take better care of my teeth and I am on my way to having gum disease.
She said "see all this bleeding? You have so much plaque under the gums". Then she left to talk to the dentist. She came back and told me that I needed to schedule a "deep cleaning" because she couldn't work like that with all the bleeding. She did not finish cleaning my teeth! So I told her that I don't understand why because I made a point to take care of them since my replacement. She accused me of not flossing, which I did. I have the floss sitting right at my table in the living room. I use it after each meal! The dentist told me I needed to have a root canal (which my insurance doesn't cover... of course) and I needed an extraction. So, I left, very confused and felt so ridiculed and humiliated.
I made an appointment at a dental clinic. Had my first appointment and they were wonderful. I DO NOT have excessive plaque, not heading towards gum disease, and lo and behold... I do not need a root canal or an extraction!!! There is nothing wrong with my teeth!! Confirmed by the clinic! Just had a cleaning today and almost no bleeding. Amazing how Gentle Dental can get away with lying to their patients and screwing over the insurance companies and medical assistance!!! They should be investigated!!!

My experience with Gentle Dental has been atrocious. I would recommend strongly to anyone to NEVER GO TO THE GLISAN ST. CLINIC IN PORTLAND, OREGON- EVER! You are better off pulling your own tooth with a pliers. I was referred to a periodontist for a gum graft on one single tooth due to gum recession. When I had my consultation with the periodontist she provided me with a treatment plan for the one tooth and I scheduled the gum graft. On the day of the appointment in the car ride home with my husband I noticed that they did the gum graft on the WRONG TOOTH. (I was out of if during the actual surgery or probably would have noticed sooner).
When I called them immediately upon realizing the HUGE ERROR they asked "what side of the mouth did they do the work on?" I responded, "the right side" and Cici replied, "Oh yep, they were supposed to do the left side." I informed her that I was aware of that and expressed my frustration and annoyance with them for this huge error. I requested a refund of the $368 payment I had made earlier that day. She referred me to the manager McKenzie. When I finally spoke to McKenzie on Monday (the appointment was on Friday) she assured me that she would submit the reversal request and that it would take, "a few days." 7 days later the payment had still not posted as a refund so I called again.
I was informed that McKenzie was out of the office for the day (8 am) but she would have McKenzie call me first thing the next morning. I called the next day at 9 am as McKenzie had not called me back and was informed that McKenzie was not in yet but "would be in shortly and would call me back." 2 hours later I had still not heard from her so I called her back again. I was placed on hold for 8 minutes and when I finally spoke to McKenzie she now told me that it takes 4-6 weeks for the reversal to post as their accounting department only handles refunds "once a month." I told her that when I spoke to her last week she NEVER ONCE mentioned 4-6 weeks and assured me it would take only a few days. Her reply was, "I have it in my notes that I told you that." I repeatedly informed her that she never mentioned that and if she had I wouldn't be calling 7 days later and 8 days later to find out the status.
They have repeatedly treated me horribly and continue to lie to me. Not to mention last week (less than 7 days after the gum graft) I felt the sutures coming loose and called to talk to the dentist. I was informed that she was at a different clinic but she would get the message to the Dr. and call me back. I never heard back from anyone that day.
I called again in the morning and was told again the Dr. was at a different clinic but she would call me back. 3 hours later she finally called me back and by this time a huge suture had fallen out of my mouth. The Dr. said she tried calling me back the day before but my voicemail was not set up. I told her I did not have any missed calls and asked her what number she called. She said she couldn't remember. Again, this is a lie as my voicemail has been set up for years and I had NO missed calls from anyone the day prior. Needless to say this place is a nightmare. STAY AWAY. I had to go back a week early due to the suture falling out (the non-dissolvable suture fell out) and now have to go back again for another follow up this Friday. I will never go back after this last appointment. They are horrible to deal with and lie to your face.

I am much more likely to write a company or post a review if I've had a good experience. But, Gentle Dental was worth my time to post about my dealings with them. My daughter went in for braces. $6,400 was the first quote. A relative was paying for them, so I asked that a statement be sent to them and they were to pay it in full when they got it. Weeks passed and no statement was sent. At that point, I was told that they couldn't send a statement. Why? And, why not call and tell me this? The Dr. has pulled a tooth of mine and a tooth of my daughter. I'm not at all positive either of them needed it. The Dr. had NO bedside manner and on more than one occasion, would enter the room and not even acknowledge my presence. Just not a good feeling all around.
I was asked to put a $500 down, which I did. I decided this wasn't the place for us. There were some snide remarks when I made any complaint. I just told them we were going elsewhere. The braces weren't in. I asked for my deposit back and was told it would take a few weeks since it had to go thru their Corp. Office. Why couldn't it just be charged back to my credit card? We got right into another dentist, who owned his practice...no corporate offices. Right away, there were differences. The first was the fact that he didn't have to do those nasty molds (which had to be done 3 times before they got it right). This dentist does it thru some image technology. He also had new x-ray's that are so gentle, you don't have to leave the room. Much more up to date.
Epilogue: I just received a BILL for over $300 from Gentle Dental! What for? I had paid something like $70 for the last thing they did the day we left them. AND, I still haven't heard a word about my deposit being refunded. I'm fearful they are going to deduct this $300 from my deposit. I do not owe them any money! Now, I have to find a way to contact SOMEONE to try and get my money back. More hassle. Advice: try to do business with people who own their own business. Corporate just makes for more trouble!

I wish I had looked at the reviews, but I just picked a dentist on my insurance plan. I'll preface by saying I take great care of my teeth and go at least twice year for cleanings. I'm the kind of person who changed fillings so they'd look nicer and got braces at 40. I really care about my teeth and normally love the dentist. I was at the dentist 5 months before trying Gentle Dental, and I went to another dentist two days after my last interaction with them. Based on that - they either lie or exaggerate to make you do unnecessary procedures. They told me I needed gum surgery and a deep cleaning - neither of which was covered by insurance.
They ganged up on me to intimidate you into doing those procedures despite my repeatedly saying I didn't think I needed, and I couldn't afford it. I had 3 people including the office manager standing around me trying to coerce me into doing these procedures. And when I said no, I'd rather just get the cleaning now, and I'll think about the procedure and costs in the future, THEY REFUSED TO CLEAN MY TEETH. Let me reiterate, a dentist a few months before and a few days after disagreed with their required course of action. They're unethical and insurance/procedure/money focused practiced who is less concerned with honesty and their patient's well being.

I had braces with Gentle Dental for about 11 months. Before I got my braces on it was determined I had severe gum disease. I had a full mouth scaling and surgery on two of my teeth and the middle gap tissue was removed. The front left middle top tooth and one midway in the top left side. I had a few cleanings and then about in March or April of 2017 we put them on. I started the process in Nov of 2016. I spent hundreds of dollars on all of this work including many, many hours of work I took off. Used my all PTO when I had it. I paid $350 down and $146 a month with about 7 visits for the braces. I also went to the reg dentist for follow ups with Gentle Dental and I had follow ups with the Periodontist.
During my follow ups with the Periodontist he only checked the two teeth that I had the surgery on with the periodontal probe to check the death of the pockets. On one visits the DENTAL ASSISTANT noticed one of my teeth were very, very loose. That when for the FIRST time since I had my braces on after about 7 months later did they decide to do x-rays and do all my teeth with the periodontal probe. (This should have been done each time I can because of the severe gum disease I have.) Once the x-rays were processed the amount of bone loss in my upper mouth was an EXTREME difference from when I started. Some of my teeth that started with pockets of 2-3 were now 10 and 11s. One of my top teeth was so loose they decided to so another scaling on my upper mouth. They removed all of the bands and within 2 weeks all of my teeth had moved back to where I started 7 months prior.
Before I went to my appt I visited the Orthodontist where he suggested that I left them move the loose tooth upwards and attached it to the one next to it. I did not feel comfortable letting them do this so I left the office. Upon my next visit they again asked me to let them attach the loose tooth to the one next to it. Finally even though I didn't want them I allowed them to attached the loose tooth to the one next to it, and within 2 weeks the tooth next to was now loose and went from a 2cm pocket to a 10cm pocket. I then had my right scaling in March 2018 and was to come back on Monday April 2nd to have the top left scaling done. When I got to the office it was completely closed down. No one called me to let me know they had sold the practice in Tampa. I decided then to drive to the Sarasota office and have them take off my braces before any further damage was done.
On April 4th 2018 I spoke with either the office manager or the owner of Gentle Dental. I asked him if they would refund me the money I paid for the braces since I have more gaps now than what I started with and two teeth that I will have to lose and the bone loss. He refused, he even refused to give me my deposit of $350 back. He tells me that braces do not cause bone loss. When In fact that is false. When you have teeth movement and severe gum disease it can in fact cause bone loss and loss of teeth. I told him I am no doctor and I feel they should have never put braces on my teeth due to the gum disease I have. His words were "people with gum disease deserve to have straight teeth too." I stated, "Yes they do but there are other ways of going about it without putting braces on someone with bad gums."
Bottom line I went to the ortho every month, the periodontist every other month and I got my teeth cleaned every 3 months. They only suggested I get them cleaned every 6 months, but I insisted since my gum disease was so bad that I should have it done every 3 months. I spent thousand of dollars with this office, and the only thing I was asking a refund for was the Ortho which is about $1200. I went through terrible pain and literally walked out of the practice crying many times because the scaling and procedures hurt so bad. When I got my braces off I went to my car and cried because all the work and money and time I spent went down the drain.
If you see my before and after pictures I now have MORE gabs than when I started with. All I wanted was straight teeth, and now I am back at square one with double the bone loss than when I started and two teeth I will probably lose. I am very saddened that I would be treated this way. This is not how you run a business and treat your clients. If they decide to give me my money back as I deserve I will remove this HONEST review but please beware of Gentle Dental. Even one of there own workers told me once to go somewhere else and not use this practice and I didn't listen. If you love your teeth stay away from this practice.

I suffered with several infections and painkillers since November until February. As a senior citizen in a Social Security budget I was going crazy thinking that I would have to spend half my check on a tooth.

I had a root canal (endodontic) from an expert in endodontics (he is a professor at Columbia School of Dentistry (NYC) in the field of endodontics). This dentist has been doing root canals since 1970 and has probably done 90,000 of them. He does the root canal but send you to another dentist for the post-and-crown. I went to Gentle Dental only to be told that the tooth was ruined by this endodontist and I would need an implant ($3000) instead of a post-and-crown ($900). I called the endodontist to tell him and he told me "Gentle Dental is a scam trying to steal money from you. I will give you the name of a general dentist". I went to the general dentist who admired the root canal and put in a post-and-crown for $870.
I figured it out: Gentle Dental has a limited amount of chair time so they must figure out a way to get at least $2000 or more out of everybody who goes there or the time in the chair is wasted for them. They have many staff who must get paid and $150-$200 is not enough to waste chair time. Yes, Gentle Dental is a crooked operation from the overstaffed office (many young women with no clue of how to assist you but eager to have you give them money) to the dentists who must find ways to get the most money out of you. Overhead is too much to waste on patients who need routine care and maintenance so everybody must pay them for the most exotic and expensive care that they can force on the patient. If you don't like that business model then go somewhere else because Gentle Dental has bills to pay!!
The main corporate office of Gentle Dental needs to get paid, the franchisee needs to make money, the staff needs to get paid, and the landlord needs to get paid. This means every patient needs to be billed the maximum possible and morality and decency goes out the window. The dentists stopped being medical professionals long ago - now they are just money-generating men and women with licenses for the Gentle Dental corporation.

There were 2 appts made, the 1st "deep cleaning" she turned my gums into hamburger, damaged them so bad they could not fill the cavity on that side due to bleeding and damage!
I then showed up the next week for the 2nd appt and was told there wasn't a Dentist there and I would have to reschedule? I told them it was too hard for work for me to reschedule and poof, a dentist appeared at a dentist office. They then came up with false charges and tried to charge me for them after paying them close to $500.00 out of pocket and having Union Insurance. This concerns the office at S Macarthur in Oklahoma City, and is similar to the one from Colleen, CA, of May 5, 2017. In March of 2017 they sent me a bill for $1224 for an 'uncovered procedure' dated March 29, 2016. I found out from Aetna, that the reason it was not covered was because they only sent in a Xray and did not explain to Aetna that I had not received a new partial in the last 5 years, prior to this procedure. So when I gave Aetna the needed information, they paid G.D. $918 for 2 retaining crowns and 1 pontic. This left my balance at $306 for something for which we cannot find a claim filed.
I visited the office, and was told that the young lady would look into it, and call me back, but I never heard anything. When I called, about 2 weeks later, I was told that the young lady I spoke to was no longer there, and that the file would be audited and that they would get back to me. But all that they did was send a bill for $306 for an 'uncovered procedure. I called Aetna Ins. and they called the Dental office, but could not get anything concerning a procedure, or tooth no. or a claim no. In addition, my portion of the bill was $630, for the covered procedures, but G.D. billed for $1190 on my Discover card, and I cannot find out whether or not I am due a refund. They also sent my bill to a collection agency, and I obviously disputed it.
Just over a week ago, I mailed a written complaint to the OK Board of Dentistry. If they accept it and follow up, maybe we can do something about Gentle Dental's billing problems. Please bear in mind that the office mentioned, is not a member of the ODA (OK Dental Assoc.) which helps in arbitration of billing issues. The Gentle Dental company also has an 'F' rating with the BBB.

I had the most horrific experience with Gentle Dental. Over 30 years ago, I had a bridge put in both sides of the lower back teeth (sadly I had two teeth pulled at 15 because I was terrified of drills). I found a fabulous dentist (probably deceased now), who did both of my bridges a year apart. It went relatively pain free and was completed in 2 visits each. About 2 years ago, I started having an irritation on the left side and the bridge eventually came loose. I was going to Gentle Dental for routine dental care for a couple of years since I was new to Maine. When they said they needed to take new x-rays, the dentist said the x-rays showed that I needed a root canal on the front tooth that supported the bridge. So he sawed the bridge apart (threw it away even though I had asked for it), then put some kind of adhesive to hold the remaining piece of the bridge. Then he performed the root canal and put a temporary cap on it.
That was an agonizing experience, but I suffered through it. I had it done and paid for it; but I still needed to replace the bridge and didn't have dental insurance so I signed up for insurance and had to wait a year before I could get the work done. On my next visit, there was a different dentist (they were both young, but this one was younger). I wasn't really happy about having a different dentist completing the job. When I went to have the bridge done, this dentist injected novacaine and chipped my upper front tooth with the metal handle of the needle. Then he removed the remaining gold cap from the back tooth which I asked for this time and got it. He put this thing in my mouth to keep my mouth open and then began to drill the back tooth. He must have drilled for over an hour (or so it seemed).
When I finally left, my mouth was sore for about a week because of the length of time that device stretched my mouth. He replaced the bridge, but it never felt right and I began having the same pain as before the procedure. At that point, he recommended I see another dentist. That dentist said he couldn't find anything really wrong and put some kind of adhesive material in the spot where the irritation and soreness was assuming that was where the food was getting in. This lasted less than a week and the pain resumed. I complained that I was still having pain Gentle Dental and said I wanted to get a second opinion and went to Wiscasset Dental. They seemed annoyed, but said fine. Dr. ** took x-rays and said she knew what was wrong and would call Gentle Dental and explain it to the dentist. On the next visit, I asked him about it and he dismissed it.
They scheduled another appointment with the first dentist who worked on me and I told him also that my bite seemed off. Both bridges felt perfectly natural when I had them originally done and the right bridge still feels natural and I've never had any problem with it. He drilled some more and gave me the bite test, but it still didn't feel right. When I got home I compared the partial bridge that they removed to the one in my mouth and noticed it was narrower and thought that might have been the reason my bite felt off. Since it wasn't getting any better, the dentist told me they would re-do it. Now I was really frightened of what I might have to go through, but had no idea. This dentist started to inject a numbing agent into the area around the tooth. He kept pushing on the needle and moving it around and it was pure torture. I was clenching my fists. When I couldn't stand it any longer, I made him stop.
I said, "Why is this hurting so much?" He said, "This type of agent wears off sooner." I said, "I'd rather have the novocaine, because this was pure torture." He became angry, especially when I told him the original procedure for my bridges, which lasted over 30 years was almost painless. He refused to continue and I was happy to get out of there. He said he would reimburse me and to go to another dentist. which I did - Wiscasset Dental.
Now that I decided to go to her to have her redo the bridge, she informed me that the root canal showed a black line (a crack) which indicated there was something wrong and that I needed to see an endodontic dentist for have the root canal evaluated. He sent his information to Dr. ** at Wiscasset Dental and I didn't hear from her and called to find out if they had received the recommendation from Dr. **. They said they had not, but would request it. At that time, she set me up for an appointment for 7/24, but I just got an email saying the office is closing. This has been absolutely the worst experience of my life.

My complaint confirms the others. My first visit to the office was near home, well equipped, and the girls at the front desk were nice and helpful. They have many offices. The dentist said they wanted me to get DEEP CLEANING where they use a LASER. ONCE YOU BEGIN THE DEEP CLEANING YOU HAVE TO KEEP IT UP. I guess this is because the laser probably scars or opens the gum pockets near your teeth. Who knows what diseases the dental technicians or dentists have that you are exposed to with all the gum bleeding. Also, if you take blood thinners, etc. deep cleaning may present more of a threat to your health than the benefits it offers. I also have talked to a dentist that says not all dentists think deep cleaning is that important to have. I do use the newest recommended electric toothbrush, and I sometimes also use a sonic toothbrush, as well as a manual toothbrush.
About a year later I received a $25 credit coupon to use by a certain date. Before that date that I went for my second visit. The dentist refused to have them clean my teeth unless I got the deep cleaning. I asked him why. He said that patients could sue them for not providing needed services. They could have the patient sign a form stating that the patient declined a given treatment that the dentist thought was advisable. Also, have they ever heard of patient budgets? I think not. So as I left, I paid in full less the $25 credit coupon. They sent me a bill for $25. I called to the office and they said they would call billing to credit me with the $25. They sent me a second bill. I called the billing office and explained. They told me the dentist office had called them about the coupon.
Then they sent me a third bill and said [for $25] they would send this to a credit agency and it would have a bad effect on my credit. I have a perfect credit record of paying my bills. So I paid them the $25. This second visit in the lobby before treatment, they gave me a form to sign, that I agree and approve of a treatment plan they will provide. They don’t give you prices or tell you what your treatment plan will contain. I refused to sign it as written. In over 50 years of paying for my dental services, I have never been presented with such a form. I have never written a complaint about my dentist or dental office. I received 1 bill for the amount of $1,550.00. I called, showed that my insurance paid $1250.00. Manager advised my portion was $300.00. I paid the $300.00, then months later I received a bill from a collection agency in the amount of $1200.00. I disputed it. Called the office back and was advised someone would look into it and get back to me. I called several times and got the runaround. Then I got a second notice the bill was sent to collections. Tried to call only to be told I just have to pay. Frustrated.

Normally I never write a review, but I have to share my five year experiences. In the town square dental office every couple year I would have a new dentist. My Worst experience was my child which was four years old, she had a cavity between the two front teeth the doctor recommended to do a filling and he had done a horrible job, which caused her mouth to swell. He prescribed some antibiotics, and only after the third visit, he decided to send me to another dentist. After I visited the other dentist, I realized that the first dentist had done a horrible job, he drilled too deep till he touched the nerves, and the second dentist explained to me how the job was bad. I ended up removing the two front teeth of my daughter.
My final experience was when I visited the doctor for regular cleaning the doctor started making a lot of unnecessary x-rays, and they told me my insurance would cover the price, but I ended up with a high bill without getting the teeth cleaned, because they said I needed deep cleaning. They care only about business and getting your money, with minimal effort. When I talk to the management about an issue, they blame the previous dentist and don't take any responsibility for the previous dentists job. I definitely do not recommend this dentist. How you could helped me with this issue?

Gentle Dental of Irvine, CA, refuses to provide the free basic cleaning of my teeth that I have already paid for with my insurance payments. They instead to a hard sell and insist that I need a deep cleaning for $$$. That is not ethical. They refuse to let the customer decide what services they want and don't want. They insist I must pay $$$ or they will refuse to do what is supposed to be provided at no charge by my insurance payments.

The column of numbers didn't even add up to the final amount. I literally spent 8 hrs in their office and refused to leave until someone could agree with me on the math and review my bill. I even got it in writing. Everything was settled but I switched dentists anyway. Haven't had service since that Sept. and now in March just got a bill for $741. Bill says previous owed zero.

In January 2015, I had 6 teeth surgically removed. When I went in, I handed the receptionist my health insurance card (as some insurance covers the removal of wisdom teeth) explaining to her that I don't know what (if any) of the balance my insurance will cover. I paid $1200 at that visit, and went on my merry way. In roughly October 2016 (YES, OVER A YEAR LATER) I get a call from Gentle Dental's billing department, claiming I owe them $4000! I explained I had the old plan they sold, and paid cash up front, and had never received a bill or have heard from them until now. The representative told me he would look into my account. I received another call in February 2017 saying they would "settle" for $400. WHAT?!? I asked the representative to provide me with a bill with detailed services rendered, along with a copy of the plan I paid for, otherwise, I will not be paying any amount. I have not heard back.

I went to the Pikesville location to have a broken tooth surgically extracted. I was in extreme pain, and my tooth was broken off below the gum line. The dentist did a topical numbing to my mouth, but I could still feel pain when he started working on me. When I told him 'ouch', I could still feel pain, he did another needle and called it a 'block'. He insisted I should not be able to feel anything, and continued to lecture me that he should have only have given me a topical, and not a block. He was irritated and verbally snapped at me, while rudely tapping his finger/instrument on the table I was laying on while waiting for the numbing to engage in my mouth that he didn't want to give me in the first place.
And while I'm laying on the table waiting for the numb to kick in, they come in with a bill for me to sign while I'm on my back, staring at the ceiling. Paperwork should be conducted before a service, or after a service, not during a service while you're laying on your back in the middle of a procedure without your glasses on. Tried to call and get some relief over the phone, only to receive unprofessional and rude results. She persisted to tell me how other patients have multiple teeth pulled and are not in this kind of pain. Are you kidding me??? I just had surgery! A horrifying experience, to say the least. I wish I had read all of the bad reviews for Gentle Dental before I chose them to work on my mouth. I would never never never recommend Gentle Dental to anyone, even if they were the last dentist on earth. Horrible service, rude attitudes, followed by no satisfaction. Shame on you Gentle Dental.

Ok so now on to the issues I have had with Gentle Dental. So October 2016 I called to get my kids in for their cleaning. Nothing was open until the end of January 2017! So I scheduled my whole family for exams and cleanings.
When I arrived, I seen new staff at the front desk. I believe the girls name was Megan who was helping me at the counter. In the middle of helping me she said "Excuse me, I need to take this call, I have been on hold for 20 minutes now". So I said "that's fine." While I was standing there she is on the phone giving all the clients "personal" information to the person on the other end. Name, DOB, SSN and insurance!!! Really?? What happen to the privacy of the patient?? Do they not need to follow the HIPAA Laws?? This was very concerning to me.
Along with disclosing all the clients information, she hangs up and is now on the phone with the other office arguing about the scheduling of a patient and who needs to call the customer to tell them about the schedule change and that she didn't feel she needed to do it because she called there first to get the approval to add the client to their appointments. She seemed very miserable and kept making negative comments about her job. This just seemed very unprofessional.
So back to the appointments, which had been moved around several times. I had them scheduled and still kept receiving text messages letting me know my kids are past due for their appointment. I get it, that's why I scheduled them! So I show up and the first thing Irina said was "Youre late". I said "no, my appointment is at 11:20." She argued with me and said "No it was at 11:00 so you are 20 minutes late but I will still take you". I got my phone out and showed her the appt. reminder and she didn't say a word.
So, Irina did the cleaning on my kids, however did not do any flossing BUT was very quick to tell me that I need to buy the electric toothbrush for each of them to help with their brushing. These ranged in price from around $40.00-130.00. We are a family of 5 and she wanted each of us to buy one. I show up for my appointment only to find out that it had been removed and so they could not see me. So they went ahead and rescheduled my exam and cleaning. I seen Dr. ** which during the exam he was very fast and was just saying numbers to the assistant. I have never had an exam hurt like this one did.
Afterward he recommended I have a more extensive cleaning done and left the room. The assistant comes in with some paperwork and asks that I sign the bottom. I asked what it was for and he mentioned that they had to let me know the cost of the cleaning that the Dr. was recommending which was about $350.00 that I would have to pay. I said "ok, but this was not scheduling to have it done" and he said "correct, we just have to let you know the cost in case you do it." So I signed the forms and he leaves.
When he comes back he tells me that the Hygienist does not have time to see me today and would I like to come back??? "Um no, I waited over 3 months for the cleaning and I have an appointment already scheduled to see her, how does she not have the time?" "Well this cleaning takes about an hour and they only have you down for 15 minutes." I said I did not want that cleaning done right now. I need the regular one done and then I will schedule for the more extensive one at a later date. The assistant tells me that once they have this procedure recommended they CAN'T do the regular cleaning, they have to do that one first.
At this point I am so angry with them. He flat out lied to me about signing those papers. IF she had time to do it, they would have scheduled that process without my consent. I really feel that my experience this past week has been worse than going to a car dealership and them trying to sell me a car that I don't need. I have never been treated this way and I'm currently looking for another Dentist. Lack of Patient Confidentiality, lack of efficiency, and trying to upsell every service they offer is not how I want to be treated at my dentist.

My family and I are switching to another dental office. Gentle Dental bought the private family practice we had been going to for approximately 12 years. We at first noticed the removal of the TVs in the patient rooms, we thought OK just corporate crap. Then came the initials on their corporate paperwork every single time we went in for cleanings or anything else. Now as with a lot of corporations we are seeing constant turnover in office staff. That speaks volumes to us as a practice. Something is amiss when the employees keep leaving. One of the biggest things that we loved about the previous dentist was the fact we not only knew every single staff member but they knew all of us, our kids, our lives. That has not happened once for us with Gentle Dental.
The practice they acquired was Dr. Shahram ** in Glendale, Arizona. He was a genuine, caring doctor who performed tens of thousands of dollars of work in our mouths with not one single issue. While the bar had been set awfully high for a new practice to achieve we gave (out of respect to Dr. **) Gentle Dental 18 months to win us over. Hasn't happened and the change has been made. I would certainly recommend folks do their due diligence before committing to Gentle Dental for their care.

I have never experienced so much pain, lack of respect and outrageous pricing in my life. I was referred to Sage by a work colleague. I knew I need surgery for receding gums but thought it would be covered by insurance. I scheduled the surgery and was told recovery time would be 4 days. I had surgery about a month ago and I still cannot chew, talk properly, smile without pain, or work out. I had tissue grafting top and bottom one side, followed ALL Dr's orders re: applying ice every 20 mins for 4 days, then moist heat etc. My face was swollen from my eyes down to my neck and was horribly bruised. There was a warning on my instruction flyer saying if you experience any swelling it is abnormal, contact Dr immediately. I sent Dr texts with photos and he kept playing it down telling me to calm down, everything was OK. I had to wait 4 days for an appointment to see him.
I told him I could feel a flap of skin and thought that the tissue grafting was coming out. He replied that it couldn't come out, it was sewn into a pocket. I thought I was going to die in my sleep with a flap of grafted skin closing my windpipe. When he eventually saw me he was mad at me and exclaimed: "Oh you have gone and popped all your stitches, the graft is coming out." That is what I had been trying to tell him. He then proceeded to trim it with scissors as I bled, then applied pressure to stop the bleeding. It was excruciating pain. Each time I went to see him he made light of it all as if I was a cry baby. Am going for a second opinion in a couple days. After paying him $2500 I now have to pay another $100 to see another Dr.
There was a mix up with my xrays, they gave me a treatment plan for someone else with the same first name as me, and the staff are unfriendly, unsympathetic and rude. To finish it all off, they don't have toilet paper in their bathrooms!!! VERY unfriendly, no bedside manner, unprofessional, money grabbers!!! Sad to say, I still have to go back to them!!! My gums are worse than before - all lumpy and bumpy, very uncomfortable and ugly, and the surgery wasn't even a success!! Very upset!!! I would love to add photos, they are horrific! With only 7 top teeth left with bad decay on tops they still suggested root canal. As a human being I was horrified that they would suggest this. I have decay on these top teeth, so I went ahead and decided to do a fake upper only. Now having said that, they wanted me to have all out with just **.
Prior to having them pulled they wanted to start my deep scaling. First of all, the anxiety alone is killing me, all to get the precious money. I am going today to have two pulled because they have left me in pain for a week. Three days off work to leave early. They have awful patient care and once my tops are in I am out of their system. I went last year for a cleaning. First visit to Gentle Dental and never met my new dentist. The cleaning was periodontal. This year I went for a cleaning and a young hygienist came in and looked at 3 teeth in front and said they were all 7s. I asked who my dentist was and she said, "I don't know but you can't have a regular periodontal cleaning. You need this and that." When I asked how much more it would cost she went to the front desk and back and said, "With your EDS dental insurance it will be $650.00." When I said that was way too much she still didn't find a dentist. I asked if she could just do the periodontal cleaning and the rest later and she said, "No way," but she would clean a quadrant at a time and I could use care credit. I told her to forget it and left - 7/2016. So I called EDS and asked about the extra stuff and laser and they said I didn't have to do all that and find another dentist with our program.
So I go a few blocks away to Advanced Dentistry in Scottsdale. The DENTIST checked every single tooth and gum with the hygienist on my other side. She found that they were all 2, 3 and one 4 and I did not need more than a good cleaning. The DENTIST cleaned my teeth gently and carefully and did an excellent job! Finally, after almost an hour wait, he gets called to go back. After he's done and we get in the car, I asked how much it was and he said "$348". And the only receipt he got was from a little adding machine. I couldn't figure out why it was so much, if we have insurance. So, we called the insurance company and she said that Dr is a specialist, so it's not covered, but they were suppose to give a 25% discount, which we didn't get. So, I go back to the dentist and ask for the printed receipt for the insurance company. I also ask Ashton why he didn't call the insurance company and then inform us that this procedure would not be covered. He said he didn't have to. I demanded at least $60 back, but they refused. I ended up going to Aspen Dental where I spent $250, had xrays, exam, teeth cleaned and a fluoride treatment.

He did a quick exam and he was just pushing and l pulling my mouth around and my head was just flopping around like a rag doll. Also he was calling the dental assistant Honey. It was "creepy" really poor unprofessional approach. What a disappointment. Very unprofessional dentist, I got out of there as fast as it could. They lost me as a patient. I will need to find a new dentist.

When I first went to this dentists I was blown away by how smooth my appointments went! I had a root canal and crown done in one day and very painlessly and efficiently. However, it cost me $1600 even with my insurance. I thought that was very pricey, but I was getting to leave on a trip and didn't question it. HOWEVER, I recently went back to get a new exam and a print out of my work needed with the "costs" attached. It was then that I finally realized they were not basing the work on my insurance AT ALL.
I called to question the quotes and were told that most of the work I needed and the previous work I had "wasn't covered by my insurance because they were high-quality upgrades" and that I was receiving "In-house discounts instead". I became very annoyed and asked why I was not told they were not even using my insurance for these procedures! Then when I asked why I was not even offered options covered by insurance. They said the doctors had recommended upgrades.
Then the receptionist tried to tell me they do not do crowns off the insurance, and then she backpedaled after I made it clear I was not an idiot! I intend to finish one more service here since my insurance only covers one exam a year, and then I am going somewhere with a lot more transparency. Also, I have been on the phone with them several times and have yet been given corrected information and quotes based all on my current dental insurance. I have called again today and the new gal was unaware of the fact. I have been waiting for 3 weeks for an updated quote.

I went to Gentle Dental in need of implants for my lower front teeth. Other than a price that seemed higher than average, the process went alright and after a year of healing and using a flipper/partial the orthodontist installed the crowns on the new implants. When he put them in I told him that they felt tight against my lower gums, to the point of being painful. He said it was just the newness of them and that the gums would relax and settle around the crowns. For the next few cleanings and follow-up visits, the one constant I told them about was the pain and foul smell/taste of the gum area of these teeth. In the meantime I had two bottom left teeth pulled and 2 implants installed. When they drilled for the implants they hit the nerve along my jawline and after 5 months of very severe pain they had to surgically pull the implants as well as the next good tooth forward, as the nerve to it was damaged.
One of the surgeons at another branch went to bat for me with the board of directors and all the work to replace the now 3 implants and new crowns was completed at now additional cost to me. Having the implants removed makes having them installed seem like a walk in the park. On a follow-up visit for checkup and cleaning I told them that the front lower teeth were really painful and they said there was a bad infection in one of the implants and at this time the original fella that put them crowns on admitted that they were too tight. The hygienist told me that I just need to clean under them better. She tried to get a rigid piece of floss under and did nothing but make it bleed.
So, I ended up having the Doctor at the other branch go to the board again and did the same thing. Removal, heal time, bone graft, heal time, implants, heal time, and finally got my new crowns about 3 weeks ago. Once again at no extra cost to me. Only months and months of severe pain and going without teeth or the partial. At one point in the redo, Gentle Dental sent a bill to our insurance and I found out about it. I called the insurance company and explained that this was work that they had already been billed for and they got it straightened out with G.D. All I can do is tell anyone needing dental work done, DO NOT GO TO GENTLE DENTAL! Except for the one surgeon that helped me get all the work corrected, I would give them a minus review.

On November 10th 2015, I had an eight am dental appointment for two extractions. The extractions that I was scheduled for the upper right tooth and the lower left tooth. They had me sit in the dental chair. I explained that I was very nervous and the dental assistant (a young African American female) told me that I had nothing to worry about. As I attempted to get an understanding of what was going to be done, she stopped me and said that, the oral surgeon would be in a moment to go over the procedure with you. They proceeded to hook me to an EKG machine. Then a man walked into the room (an older Asian man), I thought he was the doctor so, I began to ask him questions that I had about the procedure but, he didn't answer my questions and gestured for me to sit back.
I remember saying "Oh, I am sorry I thought you were the oral surgeon" and he said no. He then injected an IV in my right arm. After that, the first dental assistant told me that I was going to have three extractions which, included one wisdom tooth. I said that, that wasn't part of the plan. She said "Well you can talk about it when the doctor comes in". Then the front desk woman (who I made the appointment with) walked in with financial agreement papers for me to sign. Everything was moving so fast and she said that this was for the three extractions and I told her that I haven't talked to the oral surgeon yet. She said that it was fine and that this is just to get thing going.
I noticed that a third dental assistant (a Hispanic woman with short hair) entered the room checking the machines and something else. I signed the care credit information. I still have not talked to the oral surgeon at this point. After I signed those papers, the front desk woman (who is also the manager), told the first dental assistant that she is all done. There was a white coat blonde haired woman standing in the corner so, I thought that I was going to have a chance to speak to her but, the third dental assistant told me that I was going to go to sleep now and put a mask over my face and the anesthesia was injected. Next thing I remember is I woke up and they were done and I was confused. My designated driver drove me to get my prescription filled.
As I am sitting in the car I decided to look at the work that was performed and that's when I realized that they took the wrong teeth. The lower left tooth was still in my mouth and the top left and lower left wisdom teeth were taken. I freaked out and started crying. I immediately called gentle dental and told them what they did. They told me to come right back. So, we did. At this point I am drifting in and out of focus and the pain from the surgery was starting become worst. They brought me back into another room on the other side from where I had work done. I remember hearing the front desk/manager tell the dentist that they took the wrong teeth and that they were supposed to have taken the upper right and lower left. The dentist, (as he was looking at my chart) said yes, yes that makes sense.
He told me that he wasn't the surgeon that worked on me. Then he began to explain that the reason why they took the two wisdom teeth, he said that it was because they had cavities. I don't remember ever hearing that I had cavities, it isn't even written in my charts. I questioned why you would pull teeth with cavities when the lower left tooth has a huge hole in it which, allowed my nerve to be exposed causing me a tremendous amount of pain. He said, right a (like he was agreeing with me).
I don't remember much more. However, I do remember that I was walking out the room and headed toward the front door when he stopped me and had me sign some kind of paperwork. I was trying to read it but, the words were blurry. Then the doctor put his hand over the paper (in a gesture to say don't read it) he said that this paperwork was only about what we just talked about. I think I signed it. Next thing I remember is that I was home. I was in so much pain that I missed a whole week of work which, has caused me a lot of stress. I am still playing catch up. I have never experienced anything like this before. When I went back six days later to ask for my records they denied me. I am taking this issue to the Better Business Bureau. Gentle Dental needs to be stopped so that this cannot happen to anyone else again.

I called this dental office 2 days before coming in to a 1 800 number. I was sold a 149.00 for a VIP membership that would insure me very large discounts, so on the phone I accepted. When I went to the office I realized this is a SCAM and this is given to all patients without having to pay the 149.00. Therefore it is just a setup. They have to get you over the phone. That is why I am again disputing this charge. I even heard the front office give these discounts to other customers that did not have this VIP discount card...
When I originally went to this dental clinic I went because I had pain on my tooth. I was advised that there was NO way they could save my tooth and it needed to come out immediately. The dentist (Ms. **) was extremely demanding and hostile, to the point of scaring me to death about future diseases if I did not pull this tooth out. She also proceeded to tell me that she might as well take my wisdom tooth out because it will probably break as she pulled my painful tooth out. After the procedure was done I immediately felt that something was not right. I am married to a MEDICAL Dr and he immediately told me why did I let them take my teeth out? I went back to Sage Dental to have the area looked at 5 days later, and to my surprise they immediately started telling me that on the other side of my mouth (the right side) I had the same problem, and I needed not one but 3 teeth taken out. I then got up and LEFT.
The tactics of scaring me to death came again and I was not dealing with this again. I have absolutely NO pain on the right side but I do have a cavity. A week later I visited my dentist in Miami (I originally did not go see her because I live nearly 2 hrs. away BIG MISTAKE) and she asked me what happened. I gave her all the x-rays they had taken and she did see I had the same problem on both sides. However she is in the business of helping and saving your teeth, not taking them out to sell them and then charge you for crowns. As you can see I did not need extractions on EITHER SIDE, however for my left side it was too late. As you can also see I have enclosed a bill from her office on 11/4/2015 for 205.00 where (Mrs. ** DDS Miami Dental) did an oral evaluation, a Prophylaxis, and a Resin composite, for 205.00. SHE SAVED my tooth. All she did was take the old filling out, clean it, and refill it.
Sage Dental is a common crook in this county and has a million reviews which NOT one is any good. I am saddened that I will have to get 2 crowns now; I am 46 years old and had never lost a tooth. They do this on purpose to then overcharge and inflate their prices to fill your mouth up with crowns. Actually SAGE DENTAL should be paying me for the crowns that I now need. I am searching for an attorney to take my case.
I am not the only person they have done this to. It is completely INHUMANE for them to have done what they did to me, and told me that the only way the pain would go away was you take my tooth out. That is a complete lie. I just need antibiotics and maybe a filling or a root canal... Now I will never know because those 2 back molars are gone. Mrs. ** has advised me to never go there again and referred to them as pirates, and sees this sometimes in her office. I am glad I left the second time because if I kept listening to them I would have stayed toothless! CROOKS nothing but pirates taking teeth out to probably sell them and make you buy CROWNS.

I went to the University Place, WA office to have a check up and cleaning. I was told I have a cracked tooth which will need a crown, but no root canal was needed. I experienced such pain, I went back to the dentist who then said "maybe you do need a root canal".
I was sent to the Lakewood, WA office and was told I do need a root canal. I was told because of the location of the tooth, the mouth dam would need to be attached to my gums which I have never experienced or heard of when having a root canal. I was in extreme pain and still have discomfort. Approx. three days after the root canal (happened to be a Saturday), the temporary crown came off. I left messages on both the University Place and Lakewood after hours numbers and never received a call back instructing whether or not this is an emergency or if I am at risk of infection.
When I returned the University Place office to have the temporary crown replaced, I voiced a complaint and was told the district manager would be calling me. I never received a call from the district manager or anyone from corporate. When I went back to the University Place office, I informed the receptionist I never heard from the district manager and asked for a phone number. I was told that information could not be given out.
I am extremely dissatisfied with the service. Still have pain in that tooth which I was told should definitely be the case. To date, my teeth still haven't been cleaned and I still cannot chew on that side, but the out-of-pocket services have all been done. My issues are not with the initial dentist I saw (Tom **), he provided great customer service. My complaint is specifically with corporation and corporate office not calling me. I am not fully confident my complaint was even passed along. This corporation had no lag in the time it took to bill my insurance and quote me $536.00 for treatment, but seem to have challenges resolving customer complaints.

In the chair, they handed her a bill and said "This is what it will cost!" It was at least 3x more than what it said in the insurance brochure. I said "You are on our plan and this is the fee.", "Oh, our dentists are specialists so it is more." What are you to do with your tooth drilled open and your mouth shot up with Novocain and a flight out the next day? They gave her antibiotics so she wouldn't get an infection for the big hole they put in the side of her mouth!
Then my ordeal, they make you come in twice, first time for paperwork and then again for the cleaning. Never have I had to make two appointments for a cleaning which meant two office visit copays! Under most plans, a cleaning is routine and at no charge. I had just chipped my front tooth on a nut and had it repaired! Awful, I will now spend several hundred dollars trying to get my tooth fixed. My husband and I visited Gentle Dental early in the year to began much needed dental work. My husband's work was much more extensive than mine. After his first exam we sat down with a very nice woman that helped explain our dental insurance and what our out of pocket would be. We decided that we would open up an account with Care Credit and take care of the out of pocket at that time, and that insurance was taking care of the rest. And that my husband could began treatment. I explained to the nice lady that we wanted to get this work done ASAP so that I could drop my insurance since I was paying a huge amount a month for it.
Before all of my husband's dental work was done the nice lady informed both of us that I should go ahead and drop our insurance because they had paid all they were going to pay. I trusted her. My bad!! Because as it works out we owe them somewhere between 450.00 - 650.00 dollars. Because indeed the insurance hadn't paid all they were going to pay. They are telling me this is my fault, and I will take some responsibility because I should have known better. But, here comes the part that makes me so mad!!
I ask them to please hold this balance interest free till I could pay off the first $1200.00. At $112.00 a month (Anyone who holds a care credit card knows their very strict guidelines for interest free accounts.) and after that I would pay it off by charging it to our Care Credit Card. They will only hold it for 6 months as long as I am making payments on it. Which I have to say is better than nothing if you have the money! After already paying $112.00 a month. I really feel like for our business and to keep happy customers they could do that. I know they can do that! They are just choosing not to. This is as much their bad as ours.
I put my trust into a Dental Office that we thought was fair and understanding and we really loved the doctor and the office staff very much. I feel like Gentle Dental has horrible customer service and I truly feel like our trust was betrayed. Honestly, I am sure that she made an oversight. But, we really needed to make this right for us. And they refuse to. So with that said, I cannot and will not go back to any Gentle Dental ever.

My daughter, age 10, had only had braces since February with two follow up appointments. BOTH follow up appointments had to be corrected by the orthodontist, Dr. **, because the technician is incompetent -- and unprofessional. The first blunder: The technician told my daughter, "Expect the wires to pop off a lot. It happens a lot". WHAT?!? Well, after her work, I would expect that to be a true statement as the entire job had to be redone by the orthodontist a few days later because my daughter couldn't even close her mouth to chew (the metal prongs were set on her teeth incorrectly). When the orthodontist finished the work, my daughter couldn't even tell she was wearing braces.
This second appointment was on Monday. The same technician, whom my daughter describes as "the tattoo lady with bad teeth", set to cleaning my daughter's teeth. My daughter kept saying "ow" because the incompetent ** kept scratching her gums. She then told my ten-year-old, "Oh my God, I've never seen calcified build-up occur this fast on a kid". WHAT?!? Are you completely insane? If that weren't bad enough, she, again, failed to bend the wires properly in the back of her mouth, so now my daughter is in so much pain from being jabbed that my husband needs to take off work, again, in order to have the matter corrected. That's actually taking place today. Why didn't my daughter catch the wiring mistake before leaving the office? Her entire mouth was swollen and in pain from the cleaning and braces tightening process that she didn't notice it until the overall pain went away.
Gentle Dental, as a whole, is a good company. My daughters were going there for years prior to my youngest getting braces. They really enjoyed going and never had a single complaint. The complaint is against the orthodontic branch. Fire that technician and Dr. ** needs to take a more active role in his practice. Not wait to step up until after blundering mistakes have occurred.

I could go on for days about all the things wrong with this place. But the point is I would even recommend this place to someone I didn't like. Find another dentist!

Today will be the 6th time after waiting over 1 month for an appointment. I received call day before appoint and told I need to reschedule my appointment because the person who does cleaning does not work on that day. Then have to wait another month or two. My biggest complaint is how they try to up sell dental work. I had my 2nd exam in a one year time frame and was told I need thousands of dollars of work. They have set up real nice were they have a person come and have you work out a payment plan.
All I wanted was a cleaning and was told they cannot do regular cleaning but they had to do a $450 deep cleaning. My teeth did not deteriorate the way they claim over one year. Time to find a new dentist as I don't want to be scammed any longer by Gentle Dental.

This is a sad place to go for dental work. Well maybe not sad, but will overcharge you and not get the same amount twice. I went in for "deep cleaning" and stated I wanted 2 quadrants done at a time. They then checked with my (union) insurance. They printed out what it was going to cost me including what they said saying I had 4 cavities. I agreed and paid the $160.00 for the first 2 quadrants. Two weeks later I returned for my appointment for the fillings and last 2 quadrants, I was told the Dentist called in sick and could not do the fillings? They did the deep cleaning, found a dentist to do what I know have only 2 cavities and charged me $245.00, paid in full at time of service? NOT.
I then started getting bills. First one for $320.**, then it went up to $330.**, then down to $229.**. I told them there is no account, paid in full at time of service and will NEVER STEP FOOT IN THEIR PLACE AGAIN!! They are in the process of turning me over to collections. This is a place that does not have a clue what they are doing, except bleeding the customers dry for $$.

First, let me say that the people were very nice. Unfortunately, I had 2 bad dental experiences. First off - I had a deep cleaning. A few days later I had to go back because something just didn't feel right. Apparently I got an infection from "too deep a cleaning." Well, forgive and forget, so a few months ago I needed a new cap. While drilling, the dentist drilled out a tiny piece of my tongue. I was in pain for over a week. He never called me that night to see how I was, (and yes he did know what he had done - because he commented on it to his assistant); and he never apologized. A couple of weeks later, when I went in for the cap - he never mentioned it, and never asked how my tongue was. Mistakes happen, but at least you can have enough concern to apologize, and then not to check up on me, was unprofessional.

Its a tiny chip on my front tooth. They told me it cost normally 400 dollars, but my ins. co. would cover 200 of it so I would have to pay 200. At this point, I was outraged and said "get me out of this chair". I believe the message here is HMO discount plans don't work at all!!! People shop around and you will save money!!!

We recently had a dental procedure for our kid here. In a prior checkup with Dr. ** it was decided to go for GA for the dental procedure. After 2 hours of procedures, we came to know that along with the fillings, she has removed the front 2 teeth!!! This removal thing was never discussed & agreed upon. Reason given was they were loose and there was inflammation in the back. Though we were uncomfortable with the idea that she removed front 2 teeth, we were more focused on taking care of kid.
We reached home and after some hours, slowly started noticing there has been some change in the way our kid speaks few things. Basically due to front 2 teeth gone, few words were sounding different. We tried to call ** and she said that it has to be done because the infection was near the root. We were not satisfied with that and again called ** next day. This time, ** said she has to remove these because it has already reached the root and impacting nerves. So basically in between 2 calls made, the infection had gone from near the root to nerve. We demanded to know why the teeth were removed without even discussing with parents.
Front desk lady tried to spin it off saying we signed a worksheet which covered the removal, which obviously was not true. As mentioned above, the worksheet we signed was from previous checkup and this doctor came to know about the condition only after seeing the new X-rays taken. After taking X-rays, doctor never discussed on new status. But front desk lady still insisted on it. We were really pissed.
Our concerns:- How did doctor decide to extract 2 front tooth without discussing with parents?
- Before coming to that conclusion, were all options thoroughly evaluated?
- Not sure if doctor evaluated the impacts on child's speech by removing tooth for a 4-year kid. It was not thought how child will deal till next set of teeth come
- There was no honesty and everybody tried to give a spin putting it back to us.
It has been a very hard & terrible experience. Hope no parent will go through this.

At age 59, going to the Dentist and Hygienist is not my first Rodeo. I have signed off of Gentle Dental, and in the process of returning to Willamette Dental, with whom I have nearly 20+ years of complete satisfaction on file with them. Gentle Dental Overcharges... i.e. a 'Cleaning' is appointed a classification of 'Deep Cleaning', and therefore my insurance does not cover much of that, so I am handed a BILL, due immediately. Having had the need for gum treatments and deep cleanings back in the 1990's, I know what takes place, and I know that Gentle Dental is not performing 'Deep Cleaning', but are CHARGING for it. I do not mind paying for any service be it my teeth or my Car, or my dog... but I really get upset when I am lied to, ripped off, and taken for stupid... Now I am mad.
PLUS: I had a $54 balance owing that had to go on the back burner as a move in my residence swallowed nearly all of my income for 2 1/2 months, to supply 1st, last and deposit etc. Called to pay them off, and they had sent it to collections, => wait for it... AND NOW THE BALANCE IS 3X!!! I paid it and then after all that I have been experiencing, went to transfer to an office closer to my new home, and they told me I would be required to pay the entire office visit amount up front, and would be reimbursed when my insurance carrier paid them for my next "FEW VISITS". And… wait again => when asked how long that would take to pay me back, she said anywhere between 2 weeks to a few months, depending on my carrier!!!!!
Good Bye Gentle Dental. Please Note, I am not describing or including my actual Dentist that was competent in every way, and very professional and pleasant... I think? After all of the episodes I experienced in a very short period of time, less than 2 years, well, WAS HE ALL of that? Or was he actually one of the PEAS IN THIS FAMILY POD. UGH... Darn disappointed, and I am not one to fill out these Customer Reviews, until Now.

On August 28th Dr. Jason ** performed a periodontics' procedure on me. In the following weeks Dr. ** insisted that he had done everything properly. Having been in pain much longer than expected, I thought it would be prudent to get a second opinion. Upon seeking a second opinion from a much more experienced periodontitis, I realized Dr. ** was not truthful with me about his recent comments with me. I attempted to explain to Dr. ** that some significant periodontal problems were still present while under his medical care. Although Dr. ** was at times arrogant with me he insisted that he did everything properly. The Boca Gentle Dental office manager was a witness.
Since then, within the past few days, I had a CT scan performed with the other more experienced periodontitis. The physical evidence showed that there was NO bone graft present nor any evidence of any collagen membrane. It was determined that Dr. ** failed to use the correct type of stitches. He should have used a stitch that does not dissolve. As a direct result of Dr. ** and his medical decisions this surgical site opened to infection. During my recent surgery with my new Doctor, a piece of old decade bone was actually pulled out of this surgical site that Dr. ** worked on previously. Can you believe this? I witnessed this. I observed this object being removed by my new doctor. This is malpractice. Leaving something behind lead to an infection in that area. In closing, Dr. Jason ** has not been forthcoming and truthful with me. The CT scan, and recent surgery from my new doctor, proves Dr. ** is a fast talker when confronted, but a CT scan does not have a motive. Now he is in serious trouble.

I was told to comeback in a week July 14th and was told I need to pay the bill which is $1649.00. They have sent two bills. I have no teeth that they have given me; the lower teeth which was to do me till they finished with the set. I threw the bottom away when I went last week thinking I would have my new teeth. It didn't happen. Now all I have is my top that I had to wear and keep because they kept sending them out to get done correctly. The dr even said they would change the company they deal with.
I have had it with these people. No teeth, but they want me to pay for the long delay and the horrible service. They scheduled an appointment for July 14th and I was told this would be the last appointment and my teeth would be ready to go. What happens if they are not what they are supposed to be. Or they want me to pay before I get them. I have a bad feeling that these teeth will not be good and they will try and talk me into coming back again. This is not good business. I have to leave town the day after my appointment. I don't have time to keep going back, and this is not fair. And they want money for this horrible service.

They claimed it was the law that I had to have an X-ray every year even though IT IS NOT THE LAW. I asked why they couldn't get my X-rays and review them to determine if I needed new X-rays being that I haven't had a cavity in 20 yrs, am healthy, take NO medications, and could be considered for reduced X-ray frequency. But, because the original office failed to send all of my records, the dentist was unable to consider my full health with respect to excessive X-rays. I will never recommend Gentle Dental again.

I had a crack tooth I had been waiting to fill (while it wasn't bothering me) I decided to get it fixed at Gentle Dental. I should have known it was a bad idea when they said they were going to charge me about $165 for laughing gas because it wasn't covered by insurance. Less than three months later, I started having extreme tooth pain around the area they fixed. By that time my insurance had changed, when I called Gentle Dental I found out they didn't take my new insurance and didn't seem to want to fix their damage or care I was in pain from their terrible dental work. It was a blessing because I found a great dentist down the road from Gentle Dental who got me in right away, only to find out that I now needed a Root Canal because Gentle Dental's work wasn't done correctly! My tooth is now fixed and feels great! And by the way they only charged me $35 for laughing gas. I went to the Tigard, OR, office to have my teeth cleaned. The hygienist would not listen to me and in less than a week I lost two crowns and a bridge. The bridge was less than five years old and fit great, and the crowns had been fine. Every time they worked on my teeth, it was one disaster after another. The crown required two dental implants to connect the new bridge. Shortly after the bridge was put in, the crown in front cracked in half. The dentist began drilling to replace that crown and was totally unaware that this crown was held in with three pins, even after taking many, many X-rays. He put in a temporary which has fallen out four times while waiting for the periodontist to drill out the rest of the tooth and put in another dental implant and another crown. I am considering super-gluing in the temporary for fear they will do something else.
At the same time, the dentist was putting in two other crowns which both turned out lumpy and malformed - they need to be replaced. My front tooth is crowned, but the drilling loosened that crown and that will probably need to be replaced. The dentists have put in an additional four or five crowns because I had slight decay beneath the old crowns. I have paid, out-of-pocket, over $12,000 dollars and this does not include the new implant, crown, front crown, and repair of malformed crowns.
Every time I see the Gentle Dental offices in Tigard, they want to put in another crown or implant. It has been a cascade of dental work. My bite was perfect when I went for the original cleaning and now my bite is horrible. I have neck, back, jaw and face pains. I am seeing a chiropractor to adjust all of these areas and have another appointment with my chiropractor scheduled for after my next dental appointment to re-adjust whatever they do on that visit. I keep hoping that they will correct the problems they have caused, but the problems just keep getting worse and worse. I am on Social Security and it looks like, after they complete the current work, that I will have paid out more than I receive on SS in a year - probably an additional $12,000.
I want to see another dentist, but all of the current work is half finished and half-a****, and I don't want to pay for all of it again. I wish I had never gone to these butchers. I had been seeing another Gentle Dental dentist, but moved and the old office was 50 miles from where I now live. That dentist was in Salem, OR, and did an excellent job. I thought I could trust Gentle Dental in Tigard, OR, to do a good job. BOY, WAS I WRONG!!!
I wish I could sue these money-sucking idiots, but to sue, you need one dentist to testify against another - ain't gonna happen. I have borrowed from relatives and charged on my credit card, and the additional $12,000 puts me way over the top financially. I think I will have to see another dentist just to correct the damage they have done. I went in for a cleaning and will probably end up with dentures before they are done. DO NOT USE GENTLE DENTAL IN PORTLAND OR TIGARD. These money-sucking bastards will ruin your teeth and charge you through the nose.

In addition to this disaster, a few months later, we were informed that a baby tooth needed to be pulled (another additional $100 expense)!! Now that the eye tooth has been pulled, we need to have surgery to "pull down" the eye teeth because they're not coming in quickly enough!?! Oh and there is nothing they can do further until the surgery is done.
We haven't been seen in 5 months, it's July. I received a statement in the mail, they stated this was not a bill. I knew my children had insurance with no co-pay, so I didn't think anything was wrong. I tried to schedule their summer appointment and was told they had a bill because the incompetent workers in there did not submit the claim correctly. After I called in the insurance company, they advised me to have them submit the claim again to get paid because they have a year to resubmit the claim to get paid.
I found out they swapped the children's information, mixed the two kids' information and it didn't match, so the insurance company didn't approve the claim. Gentle Dental got paid, they resubmitted and now they said I have to pay one hundred and some odd dollars because it went to collections. And I said, "I am not paying for the x-rays because I was told when I did the appointment it would be free." Both Dr. ** and her two assistants agreed that this was all free. I did not get a copy of the x-rays. I did not like the estimate for the work on I needed on my teeth. I thought it was very high compared to other places I have gone to. So I told Dr. ** this and left. On February 29th, I received a charge bill in the amount of $23 for x-rays and infection control (whatever that means). On March 5th, I emailed Jennifer ** and advised her in an email that if I do not receive a credit for the amount of $23, I will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Affairs and the Florida Dental Board. I will also voice my opinion on consumer website like Angie's List, Healthgrades, Doctoroogle, Yelp for misleading your patient, telling them it is free consultation and x-rays and then you send them a bill. As of today, I have not heard from anyone at Gentle Dental to resolve this.

I had quite a bit of trouble with a dental office and I want it to be noted since I am afraid the dental work is shoddy. I may need to get my money back and I wanted it documented by you so you are aware of this. My son's father picked out this dentist's office since he carries the insurance.
Here is the series of events that took place:
July 29: I took my son to Gentle Dental in Mission Viejo. I was told my son needs an inlay on a bad cavity. I told Patty that my son was leaving to go out of town on August 6 so maybe I should wait until he returns. I was told by Patty that his permanent inlay would be back from the lab on the following Friday, August 5, and that it should not be a problem. That day, they prepped my son's tooth and gave him a temporary. The assistant dropped his temporary on the floor and could not find it for about 10 minutes. The tooth that fell on the floor was put into my son's mouth.
August 2: The temporary tooth cracked and fell out when my son was lightly brushing his teeth.
August 3: I took my son back to get another temporary tooth. I was told that the permanent tooth would be ready on August 5.
August 5: I was told over the phone that my son's permanent tooth was not ready and would not be available until the following week (when my son would be out of town). So, I made an appointment for August 15, the first available day that my son would be back from his trip.
August 15: I took my son back to Gentle Dental to get his permanent tooth. As we were walking out the door, my son mentioned that he needed to come back. I asked why and he told me that the dentist broke his permanent tooth and had yet to put another temporary back in. I went in to get an explanation and Patty said that when they opened the box from the lab, the permanent tooth was already broken. I asked why they took his temporary out without inspecting the tooth. She had no answer.
When I spoke to the dentist, she explained it to me differently. She said that the tooth broke after it was in my son's mouth and after the x-ray was taken. I was not very happy with getting two stories. I explained that my son and I were going to Costa Rica for a business trip and that I was supposed to leave on August 20 with my son. The dentist said that she was afraid to keep a temporary on my son that long so Patty assured me that they would work with the lab (since they sent a broken tooth to them) and get a rush job. She explained that they have done this before and that it would definitely not be a problem this time. I made an appointment to have the second permanent tooth put on August 19.
I was also told by the receptionist that the permanent inlay is guaranteed for 5 years and that if anything should happen, it would be replaced at no charge. I was getting concerned about the integrity of the teeth the lab made.
August 19: I got a call one hour before the appointment that my son's permanent tooth was not ready. I asked what happened and was told that they forgot to communicate to the lab to do the rush job. I had to cancel my business trip at work and the tickets were not refundable. I was let go from work since I was missing work, taking my son to these dentist appointments and to other doctor appointments. I found out that my son had tonsillitis and needs to have his tonsils out on August 29, the earliest appointment I could get.
Patty said that the tooth would be available on August 23, Wednesday. I told her that August 23 is on a Tuesday. After clearing up, the tooth would be back from the lab on August 23, Tuesday. I asked her if we should come in on the 24th to give them time to inspect the tooth. We then made the appointment on August 24. I then asked to speak with the office manager and was told that she was not available. I asked for her number and was told that I could not have it. I asked for who owned Gentle Dental and was told that they could not give out that information. I could not believe it and was very upset. Patty then put the dentist on the phone, who could barely speak English, and I could not understand a word she said.
August 21: My son's temporary tooth cracked again while brushing his teeth. I am now getting concerned that these teeth are made poorly and that his permanent tooth would have issues as well. I took my son back to Gentle Dental on August 22. As my son was again fitted for another temporary tooth, I asked a person in the office who owned Gentle Dental. I was told that it is owned by investors and that no one would be available to speak to me.
At that point, the office manager Xiomara ** took me back to her office and told me that she had Dr. ** and Ms. ** on the phone to speak to me. I asked them for my money back for all the inconveniences and was told that they could not do that; they offered me a free bleaching instead. I could not believe that. The last thing I want is any more dental care or lack of from them.
I said that since they could not give me my money back, I would like it in writing that if anything should happen within 5 years of putting the permanent tooth, Gentle Dental would give me my money back because I would not like to continue going there and getting the same treatment. Dr. ** refused and said that it is common for an inlay to break and that it happens all the time. I told him that I have a couple of inlays in my mouth and it never happened to me. They have been replaced after as many as 10 years in my mouth. I now have no choice but to go back and have the permanent tooth put in with no guarantee.
After I left, I called my own dentist and asked about inlays cracking. I was told that this is not a thing that happens to them; it only happens once in a blue moon. I now feel that we will have trouble with the tooth they put in. This is why I am writing this letter and informing you of this in case I do need to get my money back.
August 24: I took my son back to get his tooth put in with huge reservations and the dentist kept murmuring things that made my son very nervous. Her English was very hard to understand and all I heard was something about normal patients. The appointment was supposed to take half hour but it took one whole hour. I was also asked to sign some waiver about the tooth, which I have never done in my life and which I did not sign.
I believe that the integrity of the tooth may be an issue because the dental office could not even guarantee a refund if anything goes wrong with the tooth. Please keep this on file so if I run into any issues, I might get some assistance on getting my refund. I would also like to file a formal complaint. Please send me the form to do so.

So far my insurance is already used up. How could they tell us there was nothing wrong with our teeth. My husband had a bridge put in. Plus we put out of pocket for his $3,600 and mine is $1,100. My question is who holds these people responsible for the damage that they have caused?

I went to Gentle Dental in May 2010 to have four crowns redone and a bridge. June 7 they prepped for the bridge. June 30, it was placed and right away I told Dr. Nguyen that it was way too high. He said wait until we re-do the crowns, leave it for now. I was in excruciating pain because I was hitting the front and not the back of my teeth. I hung in their thinking that everything would be fine when the crowns came back. After the crowns were placed, things only got worse. They were just as high, if not higher. The jaw pain has been excruciating. I have neck pain that is severe. I have tingling in my right arm and both legs. I have been in pain 24/7 since this work has been done.
I went back to him several times for adjustments. No difference. I asked to see another dentist in the office. I already paid close to eight thousand dollars and if I went someplace else I would have to pay again. They should make it right. I went to see D. Nasr. She took an impression and showed me that I was not biting down in the back at all. She did several adjustments. She conferred with the owner, Dr. Cox. I met with him on Friday (August 27). He was rude and drowned out everything I said. Unfortunately, I let him file down the front. He filed down too much. That night the pain was unbearable in my jaw and my neck. I went to urgent care on Sat. An x-ray was taken and it showed my teeth have been pushed back because of all the clenching because of my bite problem. My neck is very inflamed because of the bite problem. It is straight, instead of curved like it should be. I was put on medication.
Called dentist Mon. and said the work has to be re-done. I can't deal with the pain. The dental work that they did was made way to high. Before anything was done by them, all my bottom teeth were the same height. Even after all the filing you can see a difference from one side to the other. They really made a big mistake and they won't do the right thing. I was given an appointment. Dr. Cox came in and yelled "we are not doing anything over again". I told him my bite was so off and he yelled again "first you say their too high and now you say they are too low". “We are not doing anything and I am not checking your bite again. I will give you a referral for a prosthodontist", and he stormed out of the room. He was so very rude and when I left there I was shaking. I actually stopped off at my doctor's office because my heart was pounding and I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I paid them so much money and the only thing I got was pain and suffering. I have appointments for consultations with other dentists to have the work redone and I am still very much in pain.
