I have had an excellent experience with consolidated credit. It is the best thing I could have done. I wish that I had gone with this program sooner. If I had my debt would be gone already. I could not have done this on my own. I would recommend this program to anyone looking for lower interest rates and actually getting your credit cards paid off.

I personally believe on the fact that when it comes to improve our personal finances, it's important to increase awareness and educate oneself on the negative impact of present debt on future goals and opportunities. I gradually and securely found the great opportunity to get freedom from my debt and highly recommend CCC as the consumer oriented organization that can assist individuals achieve their freedom from debt. When an organization providing such a serious service starts by educating and increasing awareness of your financial situation and alternatives that can be used securely and safe; this is an organization to be trusted and fortunately, this is Consolidated Credit Counseling. I'm a happy and very satisfied, once desperate individual who successfully used their assistance to get my freedom from debt.

I can't begin to tell you how pleased we were with our experience with Consolidated Credit. When we started the program in August, 2009 we felt our lives had been turned upside down with soaring interest rates that made our financial commitments almost impossible to fulfill. From the beginning of our program to the very last payment we felt understood, supported and encouraged to stay on track with our goal to being debt free. It took a lot of hard work and determination and at times a lot of fear but we did persevere. Any time I had a question or concern I was able to SPEAK to a person who quickly was able to assist me. You have no idea how comforting that was to actually speak to a person EVERY time I had the need to contact Consolidated. I would highly recommend Consolidated to anyone who was in need of financial assistance.

I would recommend Consolidated Credit Counseling Services to anyone who are deeply in debt, as I was. A couple of times, I did not have enough money in my bank account as my paycheck had not come in. Knowing this, I called Consolidated Credit Counseling Services and the customer service Agent explained that I would still be able to pay the monthly amount, on the day my paycheck. Believe me when I say that it took a great burden off my head! I find the Agents of the Consolidated Credit Counseling Services to be very knowledgeable and help in a very positive manner. I would be in horrible shape if Consolidated Credit Counselling Service had not helped me. I started with another agency and they switched my accounts to CCC but for the last 2 years CCC has made an impact in my financial burden. It takes time to pay your way out of debt. For me it is 2 jobs and a huge monthly payment, but I see progress and in another 18 months I will be debt free. Coming from $60,000 debt to $0 in almost 4 years is huge! It does work. It just takes time & discipline.

Wanted to be able to pay my bills but I needed help. I researched all of the agencies online and decided to contact Consolidated Consumer Credit Services. It was not during normal working hours because I was at home; but immediately one of the representatives contacted me and started to help me get started right then. Their program is for someone that is serious about getting out of debt. They are serious about helping you. You have access to your payment information online and you have access to many benefit offers available to help you learn how to live a debt free life. I still receive statements in the mail from the companies I am paying off and can see the balances going down and the interest rates reduced. If you want to pay your bills but you just need help I would highly recommend contacting CCCS and get rid of those phone calls from debt collectors and get rid of the worry and stress. I am so glad I did.

I've been with Consolidated Credit for over a year and half now. It has helped me reduce my credit card debt, but like many others, I experienced, in the first two months, a lot of penalty fees placed on my credit cards because they were not being paid on time. The reason that this happens is that the processing time between CC taking money out of your account and transferring the money to the creditors is quite a long time. They take money out on the 5th, but my creditors do not get paid until the 22nd or 23rd.
Therefore, if people have credit cards that are due on the 15th, regardless if the creditors know that you are with Consolidated Credit, they will charge your account a late fee. Because of this, what many Creditors like for people to do is pay ahead of the due date, meaning you will ultimately have to pay the creditor twice. For people who are struggling with debt, this can be a make it or break it point. Unfortunately, if people do not pay ahead, people suffer the consequences, extra fees and interest add on to the account, which is what many folks are complaining of.
I was able to pay one creditor ahead, which placed me in good standing since I did that, but I was not able to do that for the other creditors simply because I did not have the money. The consequence: I have to pay for that. In sum, the first several months of being with the program is going to royally suck. Expect to get several phone calls from creditors. Expect to have to call Consolidated Credit several times. Expect for creditors to say that they did not get the agreement from Consolidated Credit. Expect for CC to say that they did. But it does even out over a period of time. I have paid off two credit cards with CC since I started with them.
The only true complaints that I have with CC is that they charge a $5 ACH fee for drafting money out of your account. 5 dollars may seem to be only 5 dollars, but if you have a lot of debt, 5 dollars can be a life saver. Finally, I'm still not quite certain how the "gold membership" benefits me. They say that the membership gives people discounts, such as rental cars. If I'm in a lot of debt, why would I rent a rental car to begin with? They also say that it helps in case of unemployment. Although I've never had to use it in that way, I highly doubt that this would be as effective as it seems since creditors will still be knocking down people's doors wanting their money. Overall, I think it works, but beware of the extra cost.

After paying for almost two years, my balance was getting pretty low as my monthly payments were substantial, yet CCCS failed to make the monthly payments to the creditors as they were pocketing the monthly payment and sending my accounts into past due. All the while, I know that this would destroy my credit which I was trying so hard and paying so much to get right again.
CCCS keeps people in debt and ruins personal credit scores only to benefit their profit margins. The company needs to be dissolved and the owners need jail time. It is companies like CCCS that keep people enslaved to credit card companies.

I signed up for their program back in September 2007. Aside from my membership of $15 per month, they debited monthly, for more than 2 years, $12 for a "gold membership card". Never did I know that I had such membership. During the course of these two years, many times I was out of a job, with health disabling problems, totally broke, and so I called them to negotiate payments, and they never mentioned a word about any benefits from this gold membership card that I was paying without knowing. They also never sent me any statement of what I was paying.
After more than 2 years, on the phone with them, I found out about this money being taken out of my account related to this GM card. I asked what it was and they said it is a card that gives you more than $500 a year in savings, through grocery coupons, pharmacy discounts, etc. I asked them where are these coupons and card then, because by now I must have lost more than $1,000 in such benefits? They have no explanation about it. All they keep saying is that I agreed to pay for it, and I could cancel at any time. I insisted in receiving a copy of a document that would contain my signature, indicating that I signed up for this, and they do not send it. It summed up to more than $300 in total that they debited from my bank account, never having had even the consideration to send me one single coupon or card for such benefit.
They say they help you pay your bills, but it seems like I am the one who helped them in paying theirs, because I was made a fool for more than 2 years by this company. Also, when I signed up for their program, they stated "refer a friend and get $25.00". I referred a friend who joined their program, and when I called to claim the $25.00, they said that the "promotion" was over. Needless to say, their total lack of organization, they need for you to keep calling them every month to update your credit card amounts, because they do not know, neither do they keep track. They do not send you any statement of how much of your money they are placing towards your credit cards. They do not send you any document.
I tried to access my account through their site, the site did not allow me to enter my information. I called and they wanted to know "why" I wanted to access my account, as if my own account wasn't any of my business. I said because it is my account, and I want to see it. They said I would not be able to see anything in there. They also lied to me by telling me that, once in the program, I could not pay any part of my credit cards directly, only through them. A big lie because if you want to make a direct payment, your creditors will accept it. That is because first, they got my money each month, then held it for more than 15 days in their possession, then sending it out to my creditors. Would I have negotiated directly with my credit cards, I am sure that I would have gone through much less abuse. I lost more than $300 debited from my bank account and more than $1,000 in "benefits", I never received.

First red flag was when the company requested a power of attorney. A power of attorney should not be signed unless you are requesting the company to "eliminate" your debt through litigation. Second flag was they charge $49 for enrollment and $35/month for their "counseling services"; in order to make it legal they make it optional. I contacted them in October of 2009 and they did not begin processing anything until November. They never notified any creditors. They did not make a payment on any accounts until the last week of December 2009. No contract or notification was sent to my creditors.
When my creditor, Bank of America, contacted them at my request they claimed that more information was needed and that more paperwork was requested, so they "dropped" my Bank of America accounts from the program without notification. They were misleading to me and downright lied to me about notification to creditors. I fell behind in payments. Because they never filed a notice with creditors as stated, I continued getting finance charges and a higher APR, costing me over $1000 in additional fees.

I had problems with CCCS since enrollment. The enrollment counselors cut you off and leave you high and dry after enrollment. The counselor requested all of my creditors’ information so she could verify which ones CCCS could help me with. She asked if my financial institution or credit union was one of my creditors. I told her that they were, but since they give me the lowest rates possible, I did not want to include them. Well, CCCS sent their letter to my credit union anyway and my credit union in turn closed all my accounts. I called my credit union and told them it was a mistake and CCCS had not authorization to do that, and that I would like my accounts re-opened. They replied that they could not do that now that they know I'm with CCCS.
I called the enrollment counselor that set it all up and told her what had happened and all she could say is: “Oh, yeah, we shouldn't have sent anything to the credit union because you can't get lower rates than what they offer.” So now I was left without even a back-up credit card for emergencies. I had another creditor, after accepting the offer from CCCS, send CCCS a letter stating that I had paid off my account and had successfully completed the CCCS program. CCCS stopped paying them. I never received that letter and basically the creditor lied to CCCS to get out of the contract. What the creditor did was change my account number. By the time I found out that CCCS wasn't paying them any longer, I was already 60 days delinquent on my account. When I contacted CCCS and told them what had happened, they said: “We received a letter from the creditor and stopped paying them, would you like a copy?”
I told them that this action by the creditor didn't seem legal and that CCCS should have contacted me immediately to verify any such documents received from the creditor. The guy I spoke with even acknowledged that this kind of thing happens all the time. I asked if this kind of deceptive action on the part of the creditor was in some kind of violation of the agreement they had accepted from CCCS and the only answer I received was no. So, at this point I had a huge delinquency black mark on my credit report and CCCS was not going to assist me in fixing it.
I have many complaints about this company. They have poor customer service, they do not monitor your accounts (as you would think they would), they actually expect you to call them monthly and update them with you account balance, etc. Many of my creditors would hit me with charges at different times for no reason (like late charges, over credit limit charges, and all kinds of weird stuff). Per the contract with CCCS, they are not supposed to be allowed to do this. If you call CCCS to inform them, they will instruct you to call the creditor and resolve it yourself. I'm still not sure what we are paying CCCS the $50 fee per month for. They don't do anything except get your interest rate lowered and get your credit destroyed.
One last item: when I started with the program, the enrollment counselor advised me as to when I should make my last payment to my creditors and start making my payments to CCCS. She stated that any late charges or miscellaneous charges that result from the transition would be removed by the creditor within the first few months. Well, believe me, I did as instructed by the CCCS enrollment counselor and was hit with charges by every creditor. They all put the black marks on my otherwise spotless credit report. I called the enrollment counselor regarding this and she changed her entire story, stating that I should have kept paying the creditors at the same time I was paying CCCS and that the charges and negative credit marks are my fault. That's what I mean by the enrollment counselors leaving you high and dry. They made their sale, got you hooked, and now they're done.
I've complained to CCCS numerous times over the past year and they always come back with the same answer: it's my fault or we never said that. I finally decided to take every penny I have and send it to CCCS to wipe out all of my accounts and be done with them. It's going to put me in a very tight financial situation, but if it means not having to deal with CCCS anymore, then it's worth it. By the way, the enrollment counselors will tell you that enrolling in CCCS will not hurt your credit and lead you to believe that they have an amiable working relationship with creditors. I found out the hard way that creditors hate these people and in turn will hate you for using them.
What CCCS fails to inform you is that you are violating your contract with the creditors and they will be very mad at you and will screw your credit as bad as they can in retaliation. In June '09 I was hit by a red light runner and it totaled my car. I had to get a new car and was turned down for financing three times because of the CCCS on my credit report before I finally found a place that would extend credit to me. I never viewed my action of going to CCCS as trying to screw my creditors and violating contracts. I viewed it as doing the responsible thing and doing whatever I could to pay my debt, even if it meant getting assistance. I thought it was better than trying to get out of paying the debt at all or filing bankruptcy. I was wrong.

I signed a contract with CCCS on 12/15/06. I told them from the beginning I had plenty of money in my account and that I did NOT want any lapse time in my payments.
I received letters from all my cards that payment had not been received and all my cards went up plus late fees. Then I notice that on 1 of my accounts the finance charge went up 4.5%. They are supposed to negiotiate to bring these finance charges DOWN NOT UP!
They charge me $9.00 EVERY month for the "GOLD MEMBERSHIP" which I never agree to. They never put this "GOLD MEMBERSHIP" on the original contract. I notice 1 lady sent they are charging her $5.00 per month. Why is mine 4 dollars PER MONTH higher than hers?
Another thing, they take my money out on the 5th of every month, yet the credit card companies don't get their money until the end of the month. That means CCCS gets interest off my money (and everyone elses) for 2 to 3 weeks.
On July 18th, I sent them a letter stating how displeased I was and that I thought they were doing a terrible job.
I demanded that they re-negotiate with the banks, that they pay my late fees, and to send a letter to Experian,TransUnion and Equifax explaining there actions and clear my credit card rating. I also requested a letter from them explaining their actions in this matter.
WHAT DID I RECEIVE?
I got a reply from them via my answering machine stating my payment was going up $5.00 more.
As far as I am concerned these people are a rip off and really don't care about helping people's credit. If you are thinking about calling them up and getting help from them, think again please!!

I happened to come across this site. The complaints that I read, reminded me of my same experience, especially when I read the name Desiree. I don't know if it is the same person, but it did hit a nerve. I opened my account with them in December 2001, until June of 2003. I followed their rules and was never late with the payment they set up with me for payment to 2 creditors. My credit was ruined be cause even though I made my payments & on time, CCCS did not follow their end of their promise. When I realised what was going on with my creditors - it was that all of my payments where reaching them late, because they had not agreed with whatever cccs had said they had been able to set up with my creditors. What a nightmare.
And in all of that time of of the creditors balance went down $17.10 from 7/17/2002 until 6/12/2003. I don't want to relive this mess, but when I contacted CCCS, they assured me that they had not done anything wrong. I couldn't believe their "mumbo-jumbo." I got out of the mess because I received a sum of money and was able to pay those 2 debts off - no thanks to them at all. My account with them at the time was #72102. Unfortunately, in the beginning, I thought they were wonderful and was ablr to refer to clients to them that signed up for their service.

This company took over my account from Assured Credit Counseling....they went out of business. My husband and I FINALLY completed the program and notified Consolidated Credit Counseling. The original company had withheld a one month payment of over $600 that was to be refunded once we completed the entire program. We were first told by Consolidated that we had to notify them in writing first. We did that...no response...then we told that we had to contact Assured...a company that was no longer in business and has no forwarding addresses. I was told that Consolidated IS responsible for the refund since they took over the account. They tell me they aren't paying because they never received any money from Assured when they took over my account. !

When I joined CCCS, I was told that I had to authorize that all of my credit card accounts be closed. I gave permission for this to be done and assumed that CCCS followed my instructions and the agreement I made with them. Even though my credit card statements continue to show a credit line being available, I paid more attention to the fact that they also stated that I had not credit for immediate use. After 2+ years and getting no where with the debt reduction, I chose to refinance my house and pay off my credit cards in this manner. When I sent the check to CCCS, I stated that I wanted all accounts paid in full and all companies to be properly informed that I had withdrawn from the program.
In applying for a line of equity, I have discovered that all of my credit card acccounts are still active, thus negatively impacting my credit report; it is still showing that I am under consumer credit counseling, which is negatively impacting my credit report, and despite, the fact that they are active, I cannot obtain a credit card on an account because CCCS has never informed any of these companies that I had withdrawn from the program.

Misquoted total monthly rate to me 4 times, 1 creditor (Jacobson's)I was in good standing with and I now owe more to them before signing onto their program and was sent into collections because they were only paying them $15.00 a month. When I cld the co directly about this they said they never authorized this amt. So now not only do I owe more to them, I am in collections w/them and have this on my credit report. They are charging a $25.00 late fee every month plus finace chgs which puts me into the hole every month.
The $15.00 does not even cover the late chg which they are chging because they say now such a large portion of the balance is overdue. The total amy now due is approx. $500 and when I started on the program I owed them about $375. This is extremely upsetting in many ways as you can imagine.

Almost three years ago I went to them to get help with almost 20,000.00 of credit card debt. I was immediately told to cut up my credit cards and was quite litertally slapped into a DMP that was to last 5 years.
I have two of the largest balances not only not going down, but actually increasing due to "not receiving payment", and when I call CCCS, they say they will look into it. I continue to accrue interest. Currently, according to my math, it will take my at least 3 more years to pay off the balances I have now with no more interest.

I enrolled in this debt management program four months ago. And my interest rates and balances are now HIGHER than when I started.
I have made all my payments on time through their program.
The problem comes that supposedly it can take up to SIX months AFTER the CC company recieves the proposal for rates and fees to be reduced.
In my case, TWO companies have not even received proposal yet!!!!!!!
The reason is that these were "business" accounts which need PAPER proposals rather then the ELECTRONIC onesCCCS insists on sending out.
I called once 6 weeks ago, I was told it was sent out and should be fine. WRONG. MBNA called me. I called CCCS back, I got a manager on the phone who said he was dealing with the special MBNA department at CCCS and this was DEFINTELY being taken care of. WRONG. 3 weeks later I got a call from MBNA.
Meanwhile, my account which was already at a painful 22.99 was jacked up to 29.89!!!! AND Im still be hit with late fees and credit rot.
40 minutes ago I got off the phone with Marsha who supposedly actually WORKS in the special MBNA department of CCCS. She said she call me back in 20 minutes DEFINETLY.
I'm still waiting...........
DO NOT USE THEM!

My husband and I chose this company to help with our financial debt crisis and to our dismay, after about 90 days, we were in a worse financial situation than when we started. We got virtually little help with our creditors and decided to "disenroll" from the CCC program. We called CCC as well as faxed a statement to them telling CCC we no longer wished to participate in their program. We were told the next auto-debit for $932.00 would not occur from our checking account.
Desiray Z, a counselor/supervisor took it upon herself to not honor our request and went ahead and debited our checking account (which had previously been on autopay) $932.00 We had no knowledge and gave no consent for this debit to our account and subsequently our checking account went into the overdraft, was assessed hundreds of dollars in fees, and returned several checks to businesses that we use frequently. As a result, we are still responsible for our checking account and have not been reimbursed for these fees nor are we able to write checks to several businesses in our area as a direct result of Desiray's error. The only thing CCC has done since the problem occurred is to reimburse for the $932.00 that was taken in error.

In Novemer 2001, I went to Consumer Credit Couseling Service of Miami for help with my debt service. They told me that they sucessfully made agreements with my creditors and they arranged a monthly automatic payment from my credit card account. But I eventually learned that they did not follow through. They did not actually make agreements with all of my creditors. Payments were deducted from my credit card account, which were allocated to the various credit card financial institutions, but, since the agreement had not been made, the payments fell short of the minimum payments, and I was therefore charged late fees. Under these late fees, some of my credit cards reached their limits, and, therefore, I was also charged over the limit fees.
Unfortuntely, it is extremely difficult to reach anyone at CCCS in Miami. The telephone rings, and generally nobody answers. When somebody does answer, they cannot help you, unless you speak directly with your assigned counselor. But these couselors are never available. They don't return telephone calls, letters, or e-mails. On several occasions, I contacted the manager by telephone, but he would not do anything. I was told on several occasions that I could successfully talk to someone if I had a telephone conference appointment. I made several telephone conference appointments, but the agents never called, as they said they would, and, when I tried to contact them, they would not come to the telephone.
