They sold me a line and told me I could use an esim. After purchase they told me my esim would not work and that I would need to go to their store for activation. I live in a remote area and cannot make it out to their nearest store anytime soon. I told them, that's fine refund the account start up payment and I will go somewhere else. They refuse to refund the money other than a 10 dollar credit. So I am out like 30-40 bucks for less than 24 hours of service I couldn't even use.

Very bad customer service. I was told I got the plan for $45 for three months. Well, here it is a month in, and now saying I have to pay, went to ask why. Well, I was lied to and told the complete wrong thing, would not recommend.

I'd give zero stars if I could... WARNING: Incredibly frustrating experience setting up service with Cricket Wireless. I have been a customer for exactly 2 DAYS, and I have already spent close to 4 hours dealing with incompetent customer service, conflicting information, and an immediate service disconnection. If you are looking to switch carriers, be aware of how they handle new accounts (or any customer in general):
Day 1
• Misquoted Price & In-Store Omission: I spent 55 minutes on the phone with an agent reviewing plans and prices. The agent quoted me $90/mo for 3 lines on the Smart Unlimited plan. After multiple attempts to set up service over the phone, I was told I would have to complete it myself on the Cricket Website (seems odd – if they can’t do it, how can I be expected to?). Of course, setting it up myself online didn’t work. When I called support back, they said I should have immediately been referred to a physical Cricket Wireless store. I drove to the closest location (Appleton, WI) and the representative (Joshua) told me I had to pay $95/mo instead of the $90/mo I was previously quoted. He pointed to a price sheet on the counter and said that is all he has to work off of.
• Undisclosed Balance: I had to pay $0.34 (in cash) to even be allowed to complete the plan setups. Then, in total, I paid $120.68 in store to set up the new plans and activate the lines. I explicitly asked Joshua if any other payments were necessary or if my account was satisfied in full. He told me everything was satisfied and good to go. He never mentioned a pending $50 balance on the account.
Day 2
• Service Shutoff & Chat Support Failure: This morning, my phones were turned off for failure to pay that hidden $50 balance. I used chat support and went through an unhelpful agent named Kevin. Kevin began reciting incorrect dates and payment amounts to me that were not relevant to my account. When I tried to correct him, his response was to tell me my service was shut off because my debit card had been declined. I looked at the payment receipt I was holding in my hand from yesterday – it says “transaction approved.” I check my bank and confirmed that the payment had been successfully withdrawn from my account – there was no payment declined. I had no idea what he was talking about so I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. I was connected to Floor Supervisor John. I explained the incompetence I had just experienced with Kevin.
John had no response to that. John confirmed the $50 balance - come to find out, that $50 should have been added to the in-store charges yesterday but never was. I paid it immediately. I had to ask John to waive the $15 reactivation fee since the missed payment was an oversight by the in-store agent. He waived it. I then asked for a compensation credit to my account for this hassle. John offered only $10 credit. While I was explaining that $10 was insignificant compared to the effort I've put into fixing their mistakes, John asked if there was anything else he could help with – and as soon as he asked that he ended the chat session within seconds before I could even answer.
• Phone support failures: I called phone support and spoke to a supervisor named Stephanie. I explained this entire situation to her and told her I felt that a higher dollar credit is what I expected. She claimed Cricket is a prepaid service and doesn't give refunds or credits—completely contradicting the fact that John had just offered me a $10 credit. I called her on that and she just reiterated the same statement. She said she reviewed my account and explicitly admitted she could see it should cost $90/mo, but couldn't explain why I was being charged $95. I asked to speak to her supervisor.
• No Resolution – Manager incompetence: I finally spoke to a manager named Ingrid, who identified herself as the highest level of support. For the fourth time, I had to repeat this entire ordeal. Despite acknowledging the conflicting information I was given by Cricket agents, the hours I've wasted (over 4hrs by this point), and the in-store error that resulted in my service being shut off, Ingrid offered an apology but stated nothing more than the $10 credit could be done.
Two days into this service, and the level of unprofessionalism and incompetence from Cricket Wireless has been deeply disappointing and more than frustrating.

So Cricket Wireless has been holding my phone number hostage since 3:30 yesterday afternoon. I switched companies, and they released my number and I was told that I would receive the esim by 6:10 at the latest. 6:10 came and went. I had to wait for my housemate to come home so I could call the wonderful team at Spectrum, who spent an hour on the phone with me last night trying to get it, with no avail, because Cricket still has the transfer status as pending and no customer service available after hours. So here I sit, 16.5 hours later, waiting for Cricket to open their customer "service" line. Idk why they call it that cause after years of being a loyal customer, they have treated me like nothing.

I had an extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience at this Cricket Wireless store. We came in to resolve an issue where we had been incorrectly charged for an extra line for over a year because the line was never properly canceled. Instead of helping us, the store manager became hostile and dismissive. During the conversation, the manager put the district manager on speakerphone. While the district manager was listening, the store manager began yelling and aggressively telling us to “get out of my store,” despite us remaining calm and simply trying to resolve a billing issue. The district manager did not intervene or attempt to de-escalate the situation.
What should have been a straightforward customer service issue turned into a humiliating and disrespectful interaction. Being overcharged for more than a year due to poor communication and then being treated with hostility is completely unacceptable. I would strongly encourage Cricket Wireless corporate to review the conduct, professionalism, and customer service practices at this location. Customers deserve respectful communication and proper assistance — not intimidation or yelling.

First off the customer service is not very knowledgeable. They charge fees for everything. Example my bank blocked the payment because it was new. So they canceled my auto pay and raised my bill an extra ten dollars. Not good customer service.

The customer service might say press 1 but it will hang up on you. Half the time the service doesn't work and they only discount a few dollars even if you have trouble with it for months. Prices are also higher than they claim.

I have been a customer almost 10 years and all I see is how they appreciate people that are new. Nothing for the people that has been there long. No appreciation. Nothing. We are thinking about finding a different provider someone that actually cares about the customers they already have. I have five lines. You guys are cheap but I I hate to give up my phone but I am sick of going into the store and you got deals for only the new people. It sucks and it’s not fair.

I've been a customer for many years. The problem I am having is that Cricket appears to be transitioning to non-human customer service & I am not okay with that. I'm seriously tired of the technocracy ending jobs and basically ending human relations. These technocrats want to employ zero humans by forcing us to work for free helping ourselves on their apps. And pay THEM for our labor while also using our phones as tracking devices. It isn't legal to make us work for them. It's happening through self-checkout stations in stores and company apps.

I understand their policy to show your ID in order to access your account. It is totally unnecessary if you're only paying a bill. The reps at their locations try to scam you all time. There is no reason for them to walk off with your ID but they do. Why does someone have to be an authorized user just to make a payment. For changes and add one I get but payments that’s just crazy. Now I’m giving someone access to my account just in order for them to make a payment for me.

We went to the Wrightsboro store. That woman is so rude it's unbelievable!. You can't hear her talk because she has a 4 foot speaker blasting. She doesn't listen and pushes for you to get another line. My husband lost his phone. All he asked for was the same number and she was absolutely no help. Other people walking out because of her attitude and rudeness. We went to Washington Rd and Sandra was so very nice. She worked hard to undue what damage the wrightsboro store did. Sandra spent a very long time helping us and her positive attitude and kindness was heartfelt. We give Sandra the highest score possible!!! Y'all need to fire that woman at the wrightsboro store, she's terrible. Thank you Sandra for every bit of your help. (Washington rd). You truly deserve praise.

This phone company is not worth the cheap phone bills that they offer you because they will give you the runaround like they did me. I've been paying for a third line for 11 months, almost a year. It's almost $500 out of pocket and I cannot be credited for it all they wanted to do. When I called customer service to have them disconnect the line was tell me to go into the store and when I would go into the store they would tell me to call customer service and when I would call customer service yet again I would get the same response. You have to go to the store to disconnect the line that you want to disconnect. When I called customer service about this for the final time cuz I told them I wasn't paying my phone bill because of this. The only thing they could offer was to drop my reinstatement fee and knock $5 off a month out of $500.
I am now without a phone without plan because their employees did not want to properly file from customer service that I was trying to disconnect the line as cricket told me they do not have any data on me calling about trying to disconnect the line but they have data on other calls that I have made about other issues I would definitely not recommend this service to anybody being as if they can screw you out of $500. They can screw you out of more than that intentionally and that a lawsuit can also not be held because they're not a contract company. They're a prepaid service so I would not recommend anybody getting service with cricket. They also have an option to pay for insurance on your phone to cover.
From what I've been told in store any damages to the phone they won't even do that severely dissatisfied with the service that I have gotten after being a year-long loyal customer and paying for a third line for 11 months at $45 a month been trying to get it taken off of my line the whole time. This has been the worst phone experience that I have had with a company.

I enrolled in bridge pay and paid $45 to have my bill extended 7 days, with $99 being owed for my next payment. On day 6, I enrolled in the bridge pay extension and paid another $45 to have my service extended another 7 days. 2 days later, my services were suspended until I paid the full $99. Cricket is refusing to give a refund for the second $45 payment, nor will they use it as credit on my account. My monthly bill is only 129 and with a $15 reconnect fee, that is $144. I have paid a total of $189 for ONE MONTH and they refuse to do anything or rectify the situation in any way. They are stealing money from customers and using "policy" as justification.

This wireless provider is garbage. The only reason I switched is to have coverage and unlimited use in Mexico, let's hope I don't regret that too. Let's see, where do I start? 2 months ago I went into a Cricket store in Arkansas, desperate because my other phone (Boost) had been completely destroyed and I had little familiarity with the area I was in. The employees "helped me" get hooked up with a "free phone" that they recommended. They also claimed that the accessory bundle was "included". It was not. I was charged $60 for crap I don't need.
Anyway, about a month into my service, my phone started locking itself with the internal SIM card when I was out of service range. Not like a "can't make a phone call" kind of a thing, but a "I can't use my phone at all, in ANY capacity" kind of thing. I ended up driving 100 miles to PURCHASE an external SIM to try to fix the problem (I had to pay more because the external SIM the phone contained was malfunctioning). Well, lo and behold, it didn't fix the problem. I went almost a month with a phone I could barely use (even to play my music or take a picture) and let me clarify, the phone was paid off, I was NOT making payments. I drove to Cricket 6 times in the following 3 weeks, over 300 miles, costing me about $100 in gas.
After countless hours of wasting my time and driving all over the state, the corporate representative agreed to reimburse me $20 on my bill. TWENTY DOLLARS. Days of my life, hours of driving, and $100 in gas is worth $20 to them. Then, as the cherry on top of all of that, I was forced to pay for the most expensive plan for 2 months, which actually turned into 3 because the change of plans doesn't take effect until next month.
BUYER BEWARE! They are scam artists, they don't care about your issues with the phones they sell you, and they are a monumental waste of time (not to mention money). I would not recommend them to anybody. I'd suggest paying more, or going with Boost Mobile if you want cheaper service. I had better luck with a $85 phone from Walmart and a $25 plan from Boost. Cricket, you should be ashamed of yourself for taking advantage of vulnerable people. Boo on you.

I will give them a zero-star rating, but I can’t but basically what they did. They tried to gaslight you into thinking that what you’re saying to them is incorrect cause I tried to transfer my phone number to Verizon, and it was basically being super unhelpful. Try to make me feel like I’m crazy for one to do so, so the point where I just hung up and called Verizon, which was super helpful and had great communication.

The company changed my plan, charged me more money per line and gave me less data for more money. They never told me at point of sale for my razor phone that they put a lock on it even though I paid for the phone in full. They made it very difficult to port out my phone line. I spent 3 1/2 hours the first try and finally succeeded the 2 try that took over 1 1/2 hours. I intent to file a complaint with the FCC and take legal action if possible.

I'd give Cricket a 0-star rating for Customer Service if I could. They are quite happy to take your money, but unable to provide service for the money. I spent 23 minutes after dialing 611 to speak with an agent on Friday around 10 am EST. As soon as I started talking when the agent came on line, the call dropped within 30 seconds. No one bothered to call me back. So, I tried live chat. On the first attempt, after a 6-7 minute wait, the agent dropped because I didn't type fast enough for them.
On the second live chat attempt, the call dropped after a 9–10 minute wait because they had some issue at their end. The chat said reconnecting, then a few minutes later asked me to start a new chat. So, I started a third a live chat with a digital agent, got a live agent after more than 15 minutes. It then took 30 minutes to resolve a relatively simple issue. All in all, a very frustrating 2 hours of my life gone for a 5-10 minute resolution.

I purchased a cellphone through a promotional offer that required maintaining a $60/month plan for two months. I have fulfilled that requirement in full. However, after completing the two-month period, the company is refusing to allow me to switch to a lower-cost plan. When I contacted customer service, I was told that the promotion is still “not over” or that the system does not allow the change, despite the stated terms having been met. Each time I raise the issue, representatives claim they are “escalating” the situation, but no resolution is ever provided. This appears to be a tactic to force customers to remain on a higher-priced plan beyond the agreed promotional period. The lack of transparency and failure to honor the terms of the promotion is misleading and unfair to customers.
