First of all, I am grateful for all the reviews found on Consumer Affairs. I too had the same experience - Nonprofit Board Report calls me in the middle of a workday in July, asks if I want a free newsletter, I said yes. Few weeks or month later, we get invoices that we just throw away because it's free, right? I get a phone call from the company a little while after that, asking how I liked the subscription. I said we didn't read it or want it and we are a small non-profit and we're not interested in paying for a subscription. Fast forward a few months later (January), a phone call from a collection agency arrives saying we owe $250 because we didn't cancel the subscription. One (1) email with directions on how to cancel were apparently emailed to me in July. How unethical to scam on non-profits, especially small ones like ours where $250 is a big deal.

Just received a call from their collections department saying we owed $249 for a subscription to the NON-PROFIT BOARD REPORT. I recall getting a call and after repeatedly saying I did not want their service, they said they were mailing it just so I could see it. Apparently I was supposed to cancel within 30 days, but I wasn't aware of that. They are SCAMMERS.

International Credit Agency calling about overdue $265, but will settle for $110, if paid today. All about a supervisor subscription to a newsletter I did not know I was even getting. They claimed I agreed to receive it by giving my birth date which of course anyone can get off the internet free :) They have been calling me several times a week. A new person each time suggesting it has escalated and if it came to trial I would be liable personally. I am very stressed about this because I never agreed to such a thing. So I am going to call them for the 4th time and do what one of the reviews here suggested cancel after choosing option to make a payment.

Salesperson caught me on the phone in the middle of doing 18 different things offering a "sample" for a Keep Up To Date on Payroll newsletter. I hurriedly answered questions to get them off the phone, and was given the impression that the information that I'd be receiving would be at no charge. Six months later, I'm now receiving multiple calls a day from International Credit Recovery claiming that I owe $230 for a newsletter that I never agreed to pay for. We've never received an invoice prior to ICR contacting us, or an actual "newsletter" to be honest. Now, I'm stuck dealing with an overly aggressive ICR and their repeated phone calls for a debt that our company does not owe.

I find it very interesting that BBB states the following on ICR, Inc:

"BBB has received hundreds of complaints from consumers on International Credit Recovery related to collection efforts for Progressive Business Publications located in Malvern, Pa. Consumers have advised BBB that they have not ordered any publications from Progressive Business Publications and therefore they do not owe any debt to International Credit Recovery. BBB reached out to the business regarding the pattern in the complaints. The business did not acknowledge the pattern. BBB requested information from International Credit Recovery that would verify that International Credit Recovery and Progressive Business Publications are not partners. BBB has also requested current registration and licensing information for International Credit Recovery along with the current owner's name and business address. At this time International Credit Recovery has not provided any of the BBB requested information."

I received several phone calls and a pretty useless newsletter in the mail from Progressive Business Publications. The telemarketer told me they would send our organization copies of a newsletter for a free trial. I told them that it was fine to send free copies. I do not recall anyone saying that I had to call and cancel or else I would be charged for a subscription. I remember several calls and the telemarketer being aggressive and just telling him to send the trial copies to get him to stop calling me. Several months later I believe the controller at our organization showed me an invoice for a newsletter subscription. He asked if I ordered it and I said no, I didn't order or agree to order anything. So I assume he disposed of the invoice. That was the only invoice we ever received and I never received any emails. This week I received a call from a "collection agency" telling me that we ignored several invoices and emails regarding our subscription and it was handed over to this collection agency.

I told the woman what happened and said, "so basically I was scammed into agreeing to something I didn't want to agree to?" She said that the company did use aggressive telemarketing and unfortunately there was nothing she could do now, and we owe them $240 or this will become a lean on our organization or something along those lines. She made it sound very serious and said if I paid her right now they wouldn't have to take any further action against us. I told her I had to speak to my director and would call back. I told my boss and he understood that it was a scam and said that he didn't think it was a real collection agency. He said we aren't paying them and to either tell them off if they call again or to ignore them. So they called that day and the woman asked if I was ready to pay. I said I talked to my boss and I believe that what she is doing is fraud. She raised her voice and yelled at me saying "This is NOT fraud. You AGREED to pay for this product." And I hung up on her.

Today I called the 1-800 number at PBP and left a message saying I would like to cancel any type of "contract" they believe I signed up for and that I believe what they are doing is criminal activity and to never call us again or I will report them to the authorities and they will be speaking to our lawyer. I feel like they are going to keep calling and my plan is to continue to tell them they can speak to our lawyer and hang up. I don't know what else to do. I feel like if they behave like this they are just asking to be handed over to an attorney. Our organization is very small and we raise money for children. I don't know how these people sleep at night. But I'm not going to have an argument over the phone with someone who is obviously scamming me. If they have a legitimate legal complaint, they can send us their issue in writing and speak to our lawyer. I am concerned that they may do something to my credit report. Has anyone actually had an experience of them doing something to a credit report? I will call the Malvern Police, the FTC, and the FBI if that happens. I feel like I'm being targeted and blackmailed by scammers in my own backyard and it's very disturbing.

I got a call from them 5/9/14 about their CFO&Controller Alert asking if I wanted to give it a try. It didn't sound too bad and they said I could get trials and then choose to subscribe or not. Then I started receiving many email "newsletters" and sporadic paper "newsletter" here and there. When they kept on sending them to me after few weeks, I thought maybe I should call them and ask them why they keep sending them to me. I tried calling their number found online, but they would only say to leave a voice mail with my account number, which I could not find anywhere!

Then, I got a call from someone that said they were an "affiliate" to this subscription and wanted to know if I wanted another "free" book. I said no, and asked her for a number I can call them to stop the newsletters. She sounded pretty nervous and said that she could give me their CS line, but she is not affiliated with them anymore. I called the number and again was asked to leave a voice mail with the account number (WHICH I DID NOT HAVE ANYWHERE!!) and that it would take up to x weeks, yada yada yada. So I thought I'd just ignore it now since I gave enough tries to contact them.

Then on 8/18/14, I get an invoice for $299, saying this is their 3rd notice and to pay now to avoid the service charges or collection (with my account number!). I didn't even get the 1st or 2nd notices. Then, I go back to the email that I received on the day I talked to the first rep. It says to cancel the subscription, to write "cancel" on their invoice and return within 60 days. How am I supposed to cancel the invoice within 60 days that I never received? I called 1-800-220-8600 that was on this invoice and pressed number for CS. I explained to her how I didn't have a number to call them and stop the "subscription" that I never authorized, blah blah. She cut me halfway, and said she'd cancel it for me and to disregard the invoice.

After reading so many complaints about Progressive Business Publications and their collection agency, I am surprised that the rep made no big deal. I am waiting to see if this is really the end of it all like she told me.

So, as the other reviews are stating, I also received an invoice of $240 for a publication I never signed up for. I spoke to a girl about 2 months ago about a free trial and told her it wasn't my say on what we subscribe to, but insisted it was easy to cancel and I would just receive one complimentary issue, so I gave her my email address to hurry up the phone call. I never received any newsletters or anything, until I just got the invoice. Luckily I am 11 days before my "60 day" free trial and did everything to try and cancel the subscription and waive the fee. I wrote cancel on the invoice and faxed and mailed it to the office, and left a message and email to cancel it.

Finally, to ensure they got my memo, I called the 1-800 number and instead of pressing 2 to cancel I pressed the number to pay my bill and was connected to a person right away! Shocking huh? They only connect you to a person when you select to pay! Anyways, I immediately was connected to Nikki and she said they received my message and email and they cancelled my subscription. I asked if they were ever going to send a confirmation and she did on the spot. I now have a balance of $0 and an email confirmation to prove it. In the email I have her full name and direct line too, so I hope they don't keep sending me stuff! I managed to do all this in a morning, so I would advise any of you who are hoping to talk to someone and get a verbal and written confirmation and call customer service and connect to billing.

I got a call from 'collection agency' named International Credit Recovery, Inc.on behalf of Progressive Business Publications that we were way overdo on an invoice for $230. They claim that an employee at my company had verbally confirmed an order for Keep Up To Date On Payroll on 9/25/13 and that the employee's birthday was provided as confirmation. Moreover, they claim an email was sent around the same time to the employee's email address confirming the order. They also said that if we had wanted to cancel we would've had to have written 'CANCEL' on the first invoice they sent. The problem? We never received any invoices (they claim they sent 5) or any newsletters (they claim they sent 10). There was also no email sent to this employee. ICR, Inc said they had no phone number for Progressive Business Publications. ICR said we had until close of business on 5/22/14 to pay or else it would move 'forward', whatever that meant.

Well, I got the number for PBP from this website and called them. We told them we never received any emails, invoices, or newsletters and we required proof prior to paying. They said they deleted the recording of the phone call as well. So, we told the rep that they had until 5 PM today (5/22/14) to provide us with proof otherwise we would contact their local Sheriff's office and report them to the FBI Financial Crime Unit. The Rep claimed everything had been sent but said they would contact ICR, Inc. to cease the collections activity. We'll see if that occurs or not.

I also filed a complaint with Pennsylvania's Attorney General's Office for good measure. There are thousands of complaints logged against this company every year. This company is a fraud and really needs to be investigated by department of justice or have a class action law suit filed against them. This company will research your employees, call one person and then pretend you've ordered newsletters with them which you don't receive until mths later. Then they pretend they've billed you and you get a call from a collection agency (who appears to be same company) threatening to report you to collection for non payment. You can attempt to call them but they will not refund your money. Even though there is no proof that you ever ordered anything. We've posted notices at all our businesses to hang up the phone when this company calls and filed a complaint at Better Business Bureau and plan on pursuing legal action against them.

Please warn folks at your office to hang up on these jokers. This company needs a good class action suit that targets the company and owner personally as he clearly is acting negligent and harassing business owners with this ridiculous business he's created. Again DO NOT DEAL with them or even give them the time of day to hear what they have to say because they'll pretend you bought something and you'll spend hours dealing with them. I've never written a review on anyone but this company has to be stopped and I hope this email serves as a warning for other non suspecting business owners.

I used to work for Progressive Business Publications and just want to warn every one of some facts. When I worked with the company, we were just a roomful of people with headsets on, which automatically called one person after another. We were told to ask for the person in the company that the BS newsletter have us try to push for hundreds of dollars. These calls were all recorded; they showed us how to operate a little recorder that was hooked to all the computers. We were instructed to do all we could to get the month and date of anybody's birth, because as stated, that was what they said they had on record that they basically claimed was with your signature, and that you agreed to ordering their crappy newsletters.

Also, when it comes to them sending you to collections, the collection company is simply one of their companies calling themselves a different name. After they attempt to get you for hundreds of dollars, they will end up trying to settle with you for even just $50. Like if you just send them some money, they'll take it. That didn't legitimately affect your credit or anything; it was simply their way of trying to scare you into giving them money.

As a PBP employee, I once worked sixty hours in one week because I needed money. When my check arrived, I had only been paid for 23 hours! I went to my two bosses, and they told me that this was their unapproved way of helping me out. Since I only made 27 sales that week, they just "hooked me up" by lowering my hours to up my sales average. I told them I have never been asked about this, and that I wanted to be paid for the other 17 hours I was gypped on. They said they'd have my check the next day. When I went in Tuesday morning, they said they both needed to speak to me in their office. I was told they were letting me go and I never got paid for working for them.

So beware - this company doesn't only rip off their consumers, they also rip off their employees. This company will screw and scam anyone to get a few bucks.

Luckily, we are a small business and only two of us in the office, so we know what is an actual invoice due and what is not. This company keeps sending these false invoices claiming the following: "Thank you for your order for a one year subscription to injury prevention & cost control alert." Then it goes on to layout the supposed subscription terms and says in capital letters, "YOUR ACCOUNT IS OVER 90 DAYS PAST DUE”, and states "Unpaid bills are referred to a collection agency”. I assure the public - no one here has ever ordered anything from this company, went to their website, or spoke with them. This is all false and I don't see how they can get away with this.

I filed a complaint with the FTC back in 2010 against them. I did so again today. They sent me lots of newsletters (12 copies) that I didn't order. Then, they tried to bill me $900 for them. I ignored the requests because I didn't order the newsletter. Our company was sent to collections. I settled with them for about $180 to make them go away. Now, they contacted me again and I haven't received any kind of newsletter from them and asked them back in 2010 to be on their Do Not Contact list. I called them yesterday and told them this story and was very harsh in telling them to not ever, ever, ever, under any circumstance, never, ever, contact me ever, ever, never again. I told them I know what they're doing and what their scam is and that I would be reporting it soon.

What they do is send you a link to some generic but legit looking site. You click on it, and discover it's not what you thought it was. Just by clicking on it, you've just subscribed to a newsletter. They send you the newsletters (or they don't). They tell you that you can unsubscribe through emails that only go to your spam folder so you never actually see them. You get a bill to some other department of your company who will most likely just pay it without your approval. And they've just scammed you. They hope that the person who clicks on their website will not be the same person to see a bill and that the accounts payable person at your company will just pay the bill unbeknown to you. File a complaint to the FTC. Maybe we can get this scam of a company shut down.

When I asked them for the number for Progessive Business Publications, they refused to give it to me and got very nasty telling me they could cancel the publication and I had no reason to contact PBP. Janice in Reading, MI stated exactly what just happened to me. International Collection called and left a voicemail. I returned the call and Amanda said Progressive Publications had turned over my account to them for collection. She said I accepted their offer to provide a 30-day free trial for their subscription with a 30-day cancellation period in February of this year. I did not cancel and had received the publications. I politely told her I had not received any publication and did not order any publication from Progressive since I was trying to eliminate all publications for the last two or more years. She then stated she had a recording with a birth date of October 6 on file when I placed and accepted their offer. I told her that the birth date is wrong and not even close. I asked to listen to or get a copy of the recording she had on file. She then accused me of lying to her and she would contact Progressive and hung up. This is a scam and everyone should be aware of Progressive tactics. They are rated as F from the BBB. Before you even listen to the solicitor state, you do not want the free trial (which I did) and do not send any material either by post or email.

Phone tactics – They call to confirm an address. Most of the time, they are talking to someone who has no authority to purchase anything on the company’s behalf. Then, you receive invoice after invoice. And then after invoicing for a number of times, they threaten to send you to collection saying they have a recording confirming the order when, in fact, the person was just confirming the address. What a scam they have going on. I have asked to have the company’s phone number and address removed from their list, only to get more invoices. The last time took me almost a year to get the threats stopped. I do not have the time to keep up with all the scams going on today. Shame on Progressive Business Publications.

I don't hang up on phone marketers, because that is their livelihood; but as a practice, I tell them that I already receive plenty of information here and I'm a member of a professional organization that provides the same information. I always stop them before they go too far down the road and say that I don't want to waste their time and that they would probably have more success with the next person on the list. I received a few copies anyway, and then suddenly, a third notice came. No first or second notice, just the third notice. I looked them up online and sent an email to customer service simply stating that I did not order the product and to cancel immediately. Progressive Business Publications first sent random mailings in the mail to my place of work, addressed to my (then) boss. We tossed the many follow-up envelopes after reading the first envelope to arrive, as it seemed to be junk mail. One day, we started receiving bills in the mail for this company. Progressive Business Publications alleged us (my boss and company) of partaking in a subscription we did not agree, nor speak to anyone about beginning. And to have a bill sent to us for $200 (round about), we were appalled and as a large company, continued to ignore it and throw it in the trash (knowing we did not agree to anything). Finally, collection calls began. We reached out to our corporate offices regarding payment to find collections calls were being routed there as well. In the end, we paid the $200 or so to stop all collections.

Recently, I received a letter mailed to our office administrative person, the exact letter initially sent to my (then) boss! Right away, I phoned the company and told them I wanted absolutely nothing to do with any subscription or trial. The woman was very nasty and told me I was incorrect, they don't do that; blah, blah, blah. After her runaround spiel, she asked me for the name on the letter we just received. Magically, she had my administrative person in her system for a trial subscription! I told to cancel everything because nothing was agreed to. She assured me all was cancelled. It better be. The Better Business Bureau is on our next list to notify regarding this company if we hear or receive anything from this company again. Beware and report them! They need to shut down!

I was contacted about a free trial. I declined and said I do not buy anything over the phone from solicitors, especially if it is an 800 number. The rep said, "I understand. Thank you for your time. Just to verify that we spoke and so I can take you off the mailing list, can I have your month and day of birth?" I said okay, hung up and forgot about it. I didn't realize that I had just been scammed. Apparently, they started sending me the Keep Up-To-Date on Payroll Publication. I never opened the envelopes because it looked like junk mail and threw it away. What I didn't know was inside the envelopes were invoices!

After the first one, there were past due invoices! Since I never opened the envelopes (apparently, I got 10 of them although I think that is a lie), I was surprised Monday morning to get a call from International Credit Recovery collection agency. They said I was in collections for $108.00. I asked what company had put me in collections and they said Progressive Business Publications. I contacted PBP and after several heated conversation, asked to speak to the supervisor. The supervisor, Nikki **, said I had entered into a contract with them and I owed the money. She said when I gave them my date of birth, I basically signed the contract.

I paid the money just to get the experience over. Nikki is very good at scamming people. She has apparently had that same conversation with many people. Not only do I feel like they stole my money, the scammers (I have a hard time believing it is a legitimate company) stole my time and my credit rating. I also think the collection agency is in on it. As soon as I got off the phone with Nikki and paying $49.00, they called me again saying they would take $50.00 and get me out of collections. Makes me wonder if they are all sitting in the same office. On a side note, just as I was in the middle of dealing with this fiasco, my wife received an invoice from them! She has never even talked to them! Wonder how they got her birth date? This time, we immediately called them and cancelled.

By the way, if you need it, the phone number is 1-800-220-5000. Looking at the publication, it contains nothing of real value. So not only do they steal your money, they have nothing to offer. The newsletters are nothing but a front. I called several places today to see what I could do about it and the best information I received was to file a complaint with the US Postal Inspection Service, which I am going to do as soon as I am done writing this complaint. Since they are using the USPS to conduct their transactions, it would be considered mail fraud. If they contact me or mail something to me again, I will put in another complaint. I will do it every time they try something. These scammers need to be put in jail and this operation shut down. They use strong arm tactics to back you into a corner and then they steal your money.

Our company has been receiving invoices for a number of years. Our phone system now allows us to block their calls, which has seemed to greatly reduce the number of invoices we are receiving. Back when we were unable to block their calls, their major tool of threat was verbal harassment. They would have a name, department, birth date (FB?) as "proof" of PO. When payment was demanded, I responded that since we did not order, we will not pay, but if they send packaging and a shipping ticket, we would be happy to return their mailings, still unopened. I just let them stack up, and never received any postage. This company's invoices also went on the break room BB, with a note of explanation.

One of the sad things about this company is that upon opening one of the early mailings, it seemed to be decent info. Had they offered the subscription it at a fair price, or free with ads, they may have done legitimate business with several of our managers.

    Chris,

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had a bad experience with us. We work hard to ensure that doesn’t happen. We take quality serious and use very strict quality control measures. As a result, our sales team is extensively monitored to ensure every order is valid and legitimate. We also maintain extensive digital records.

Our trial subscriptions are free with the right of cancellation. Many find the newsletters help them do their jobs better. We understand they’re not for everyone though, and if that’s the case, we ask you to write “cancel” on the invoice and drop it in the mail, no questions asked.

I’m more than happy to talk to you directly by either email or phone. If you’d like, I can look into this and see if I can help. Contact me with your name, company, address, and the name of the publication. Again I apologize for your experience.

I did not receive any invoice until about 3 months ago when it was 60 days overdue and it didn't come to me. It went to my company's Accounts Payable dept thinking that since we were such a big company, they would just pay the bill. Fortunately, Accounts Payable forwarded the invoice to me asking me to approve or write the reason for rejection.

I told them I did not order and did not receive any newsletters from this company and do not pay. Well, one moth later, I got another invoice forwarded to me so now I am paying attention to my mail because normally I get a bunch of junk mail that i just toss out and, sure enough, there is a Quality Manager's Alert Newsletter from Progressive Business Publications. Again, I tell Accounts Payable not to pay because I did not order but I did save a copy of the newsletter to send back to the company. Same thing again last month, until yesterday when I got a call from the collections agency.

At first, I thought I was losing my mind because I would never purchase anything even on a trial basis that would need to be paid for. I don't have the authority to do that. When I tried to find a phone number to call PBP, I found these complaints online and they confirmed my suspicions about this company. There must be enough companies that just pay the invoice to make this worth their while. I received an invoice today. There's no phone number on the invoice, how convenient for them.

For the past 3 years, this company has bombarded us with invoices for publications we did not order nor did we wish to receive them. We continuously send back the invoices with notes on them that we did not order and will not pay. On one occasion, one of the invoices slipped by me and we started getting collection phone calls. There is no explaining to these people and they are rude. I wrote them numerous letters asking them to "cease and desist" sending mail to our company, but they pay no attention. They are a big scam!

Progressive contacted me by phone and offered a free subscription to their publication. They said they had to verify the conversation took place by verifying my date of birth. So I furnished it. Six months later, I am receiving harassing phone calls over a service that I have not asked for or ordered. They say that I did not opt out so I am liable for the payment. They have unscrupulous business practices. They have sent things in the past many years ago to my company with the same claims. Companies like this need to be shut down. Just because someone verifies a phone conversation with their name and birth date doesn't satisfy the claim of a binding contract agreement. Devious underhanded business practices are at the core of their business practice. They say an email went out to let me know the subscription would continue. My company has automatic spam blocking software in place that restricts items from certain vendors. I am not paying for something that I did not request or use. Solicitation calls of this kind give good businesses a bad name.

I have just received a phone call from a woman named Kathy with ICR. She was extremely unprofessional from the start of the call regarding a balance I owe of $199 from newsletters that I received against my request. My receptionist threw out the newsletters as they were received, as she is instructed to toss out any junk mail. She obviously considered their newsletters junk mail.

Regardless, ICR of NY is claiming we owe $199 and told me that I would go to further collections if I did not pay the balance within the next hour. I was also told my name and date of birth would be proof that I told them I would not pay it and that I was the reason it is going to further collections. When I said that was not the way this needs to be handled, I tried to be civil and work something out, she told me to stop playing games. I told her I would give her a call back by noon, it was 10am my time. She said, "I'll give you one hour." She said she would contact the owner of my company if I did not pay today.

Obviously, based on all of the websites, this company is a scam and has many complaints behind them. I am just worried, as my company is a new business, I do not want to have a bad credit report due to $199! At the same time, I am not comfortable paying for something that I did not order, and have no product to show for! Can you please let me know what will happen if I do not pay this? I want to believe there is no way for them to do anything to us, credit-wise, as they are not a legit business. I am just so mad right now at the way I was just talked to by this woman and I don't know what to do. I was as nice as could be and she was so disrespectful and rude.

Nine months ago, PBP called me and asked if I wanted to subscribe to their newsletter with a free trial. I said no, but they still went ahead and sent me publications, followed by invoices. I had to look their number up on their website, as it's not provided with the invoices, but I was able to get through to someone called Jen. Jen told me many times that because they had sent me an email with the offer details and I had not responded to it, that I was liable for the payments. Ridiculous! What proof is there that the email was ever sent by them, never mind received (and read) by me?! I stated many times that, unless they could provide some sort of proof that I had ever requested a subscription, then they needed to cancel the account and provide confirmation that neither they nor the collection agency they had referred my account to would be chasing for any payment. They finally agreed and cancelled the account and associated invoices. What a hassle. I guess they hope some people will just pay the bills to make this pathetic scam worthwhile for PBP.

False Subsciptions and Invoices: I received two packages full of about 30-50 bulletins from this company along with an invoice in the second package. I had never ordered these items and have absolutely no need of them for my company. I called the company only to be placed in a VOP system forever and then dumped to voicemail. When someone finally called me back several days later, I told them the situation and the rep tried to tell me I spoke to someone at their company on a certain date. I told her I speak to several vendors a day, but talking is not agreement of an order. I asked her to send me my signature or a copy of an electronic receipt even a copy of the conversation I had with her company to verify I placed an order. She said that it was just a noted discussion in their system and she would take my cancellation now, just send the items back and write cancellation over the invoice. I told I would write cancellation, but I'm also writing and making a copy stating, "Item was never ordered."

That was over two weeks ago. Today, I received another package full of useless bulletins! This is so repulsive and shady of a "publication" company to pull this type of scam, especially given their specialization – communication advice! I nearly laughed aloud seeing the title of the cover page story of this flimsy bulletin: "3 Stupid Reasons People Get Sued - and how you can avoid them - A realistic approach to reducing legal risks. They mailed trial issues of their letter and billed me for them, even though I never ordered it in the first place. I disputed the invoice. I was told it was a mistake and it would be cleared up. Several months later, I got a call from a creditor who said the invoice was submitted to a collections agency and they could not understand why it had yet to be cleared up. I would recommend to anyone contacted by this company, to file a complaint immediately. They are just another scam.

Received a call offering free subscription to safety and compliance information for the health care industry. I was told I could cancel at any time and that I would not be billed for the first month. After seeing the emails sent, I responded to cancel since they had no connection to my industry and were nothing more than info I could find on the internet at no cost. I also clicked on the "if you do not wish to receive these emails" on each one sent. They continued to be received.

After about 3 months, we received a bill at the company for full year subscription that was past due. We also received a call from them and told them we had cancelled the subscription in the first month. Received a call yesterday from a collection agency threatening to send me personally to collections and report me personally to the credit bureau. The person on the line was the rudest person I have ever spoken to and actually had the gal to tell me I was uneducated.

I do not want my credit impacted so I am going to pay for the invoice. I am currently involved in a home purchase and do not want to have this annoyance affect that. If not for that, I would sue them for even threatening me. The whole thing is a scam. Their tactics are unbelievable. I have never been more rudely treated in all my life. To think that things like this can happen appalls me. Someone needs to take this company out of business along with the collection agency they use. For anyone to say to someone on the phone "we have your name and date of birth and will make your life miserable" is criminal.

This company called our company and suggested a "free trial" of a newsletter or such. We said, as we say to most unsolicited sales/marketing pitches, that if they wanted to send us some information, we would go from there. We did not agree to pay for anything! Now, they are threatening us with some "collection agency", that we didn't pay $255.60. They stated that in some e-mail, that it was our responsibility to "unsubscribe". This is one of those unethical businesses that plays this game, rather than acquiring/earning business the right way.

As stated before, we never agreed to paying anything or signing up for anything. It was basically an unsolicited sales pitch by them to us. We said send info basically to be somewhat nice, but at the same time get them off the phone. And then, the unsolicited e-mails we received from them were deleted, unopened. We, like most companies, get 1000's of unsolicited e-mails. If every company did this type of unethical business scam, we would have to hire a legal team just to answer e-mails. So, we will find out if there was some contractual obligation being forced upon us, not to mention the man hours wasted to police this nonsense. I'm not sure what happens from here. But I hope this information helps in putting this company in their place.

When asked where they were calling from, they hung up the phone. Hello, doesn't that just prove they were up to no good? Then they called back and were extremely rude and demanded to speak to a manager, stating that they were hung up on--which they had not been.

However, this company Progressive Business calls all of the time and tries to send their newsletters to our company, and nobody wishes to speak to them or read what they are sending. They are not interested, and they still insist on calling. They kept calling and calling, and after the fifth time, we just hung up on them because nobody cares to deal with these telemarketers.

We have never received it. Their invoice doesn't even have a phone number or an email on it. Larger practices might fall for this because it might slip through the cracks, especially at this time of year when new coding data comes out. But I have a billing staff of one and she did not order it. We never got it but her name and our group's name are on this bill. I don't think we ever even got an "initial" statement. I was contacted by a sales representative via telephone last year (2009) and was informed about a managerial safety publication. The sales representative was informed by myself that I was not the decision maker or authorized party to commit to such subscription but was informed the publication came with a free sample, for which I agreed to have free sample sent at no charge. Upon arrival of sample publication, an invoice was attached, for which immediately I contacted the 800 number and left several messages indicating cancellation of subscription, as well as several faxes sent with cancellation requests.

As of April 12, 2010, we have once again received an invoice for the quantity of $253 as a second notice of overdue payment. Telephone salesman/representative had figuratively stated that should an invoice arrive with sample publication, one needed only to cancel or call, which was done and for which no formal cancellation confirmation was issued. After sending via fax the cancellation requests, no publications were furthermore sent with the recent exception of the newly issued overdue invoice. It is customary for such calls to be recorded for which a transcript should be provided by defendant.
