    My warranty expired. My vehicle is in perfect shape, and I want to keep the car. I'm a person who takes care of the vehicle all the time. I’ve had warranty in all my cars, going back to 1964, and I’ve only used a warranty one time. Toyota told me to call CARCHEX because I wanted to pay monthly and they didn't have a program that does that. The gentleman from CARCHEX that I spoke to was good, precise and very bright about what he was offering. I was told that they’re rated one of the top ones and that they take care of everything that’s on the contract. My only concern is that I was expecting to receive what they quote my papers, and I haven’t received anything. I haven’t even received paperwork for my next monthly bill.

    I had an experience in February where I thought that my car was covered under warranty, and my warranty had expired. Hence I decided to look into getting an extended coverage for my car. I eventually got one from CARCHEX via a process that seemed fairly easy. Carly, the protection specialist was informative and assisted me thoroughly.

    They sent me a paper on the warranty but I still feel uneasy over CARCHEX, like it's not a good company. One of the things that I didn't feel comfortable about was that, at 5:30 am, I was notified that the payment was withdrawn from my account (I told them on September 4 that they could do the payment) - it seemed like they were a bit anxious to get the payment. Also, when I went on the internet to check for feedback from the people that tried to place claims - I know they don't always put good things - but all of the negative experiences were out there. I won't know for 60 days whether or not I indeed have warranty coverage and at that point, it could turn out to be $268 in a hole.

    I expect my car to take up to 400,000 miles because I take really good care of it. But since the car is made in Japan I wanted to have a little extra coverage since I'm used to American-made car.     I want to keep my car for a couple more years and it will be good to have a policy that helps with repairs. Purchasing the protection plan from Carchex was a good process although I got the wrong policy the first time I got it. I wanted it to be able to cover the wheels, rocker arms, bearings and all that, so I bought the policy for $130. I waited 28 days and found out that the policy wouldn't cover that, so I had to cancel that policy and start a new policy that would cover the whole thing. But even that process wasn't bad, so it's all good. The protection specialist I spoke to did a fantastic job. He explained it to me well and even the process of getting a new policy went smoothly. They billed me, but they went ahead and added on the extra $15 and started the new policy. I didn't have to go through the process of repaying or waiting on that money to come back to the bank.

    Purchasing the protection plan from CARCHEX was very difficult. When I originally spoke with them, they made everything sound like they will take care of me. I had no problem with the man I spoke with, he answered my questions but it took about two weeks for me to receive the pamphlet which I was supposed to get right away. I only had about two weeks to look it over and check it out. There were a lot of things I couldn't do and too many loopholes in the plan. I did have an alteration made to the truck. They said, "Well, we're not going to take care of that because it's not factory authorized." Even though the factory said that's fine. It's a better deal - the truck will last longer. It was another way of them getting out of paying any claims. It's up to me whether I'm going to take care of it or not so I cancelled. I would not recommend it to anybody I like.

    I am sorry the policy you purchased did not meet your needs. With any Extended Vehicle Protection plan it is important to discuss any modifications above factory presets prior to purchasing. Vehicles with modifications typically make a vehicle ineligible for the coverage depending on the level of coverage purchased.

    In your review you mentioned "loopholes" in your contract. There are requirements in contracts such as requiring a policy holder to maintain records including oil changes and manufacturer recommended services.

    I had a BMW extended warranty, and after it ended they were going to charge me a lot more than what CARCHEX asked for the same protection plan, so I went with the latter. I got a better deal and price with them, and their protection specialist was outstanding. However, the only dissatisfaction I had was more on the administrative side.

    The packet that they sent me in paper format was tremendously large. I had to go to Staples, make it smaller, and laminate it so I could carry it in my wallet with my contract number, expiration date, and all the information instead of folding it, leaving it in the glove compartment somewhere, or losing it. I wish I’d have a wallet sized card with all the info laminated to keep in my wallet. Other than that, I recommend them since having a protection plan is very valuable, and my cars have as much bumper to bumper with the best plan they can, especially when my deductible is $100. Nothing is guaranteed for life, but it’s a relief to know anything major that needs to be done is covered. I’m very happy.

    I had a ’97 Chevy Tahoe and at 18,000 miles, the alternator went out and at 36,000 the transmission went out. An extended coverage is definitely worth having. The dealer also recommended that we get an extended warranty before we even left the parking lot. I’ve replaced a number of parts on the truck already myself and it's easy maintenance but when it comes to transmission then that’s definitely something I need the extended warranty for.

    So I did some research on the Internet and CARCHEX seemed to have higher reviews and remarks than many of the others. The sign-up process and everything was very smooth and very easy.     I took my car in 2 weeks ago. The car was diagnosed with a bad starter. Carchex said they had to send the shop a rebuild starter. After waiting 8 days they finally got the starter and replaced it. I picked up the car last Tuesday and started it Wednesday to go to work, the exact same thing was happening. I called the shop and they told me to bring the car back. Again they diagnosed a bad starter. So here we go again trying to get approval from Carchex. They did not call back Friday and now closed for a long weekend. So today back on the phone. After speaking with several people the last person promised me she would call me back today!     I was buying a used car from CarMax that is known for having very expensive repairs.     When I bought our used car I knew I needed to get an extended warranty to protect it. I shopped around, and finally settled on Carchex. About 2 1/2 weeks after purchasing my service plan I start having problems with both the air conditioner (covered according to contract) and my fuel gauge (Been told to fix it. I need to replace the fuel pump, which also according to contract is covered.) while the fuel sending unit was throwing codes simultaneously. I realized that there was the waiting period, and waited till after the 30 days to even attempt to have it repaired or even looked at. My service manager told me when he called with what was needed, both components were covered, but by that time in the day they didn't have time to work on any of it, so I took my car with me & made an appointment to come back.

    After the fact, the warranty company called them to have an inspector come out. When all was said and done, they are claiming that the air compressor is a pre-existing condition, and the fuel sending unit is all that needs to be replaced to turn the check engine light off, and that isn't covered. Sorry, I don't buy it. I know timing sucks that I've had the policy for such a short amount of time and I'm already having to use it, but this is the reason I purchased the policy in the first place, and when your AC goes out while you're 25 weeks pregnant in 90+ weather only to be told that it's a pre-existing issue--when it was working perfectly until about 2-3 weeks ago--so they won't cover it doesn't work for me. I'm so glad I didn't go get a rental car while I waited on the repairs or I'd be in the hole for 3 days now for a rental car waiting on the warranty company to communicate.

    I’ve never had an extended warranty on a vehicle before because I’ve never had one that is this sophisticated.     The coverage sounds ok so far but you have to drive 1000 miles before you can get coverage on your vehicle. I think it should be less than that because if you do not drive 1000 miles over a six month of time, you still do not get coverage. So you paying for coverage that you cannot use until you reach the thousand mile mark, I think it should be less than that.

    I was near the end of my manufacturer warranty so I needed to get additional coverage for my vehicle. My experience with CARCHEX was good until the point where I finally was about to use the coverage and they had the wrong car listed. Then the sales rep had me cancel my plan and try to get it redone. He said, "You have to start over your coverage and you have to give us another down payment." It was the worst experience ever. He wasn't telling the management, which I requested to speak with, that he put in the wrong PIN number, and it was the wrong coverage on the wrong car so I had to start over my coverage. They lowered the monthly payment by $77, which was okay, but I shouldn't have to wait 30 days to use my coverage and pay another thousand dollars when it was their guy's error. Other than that, they were good.

    I got coverage for my vehicle from CARCHEX a few days ago. I researched on them and saw that they were one of the top warranty coverage providers. But I didn't like some of the answers that I've gotten from them, and that's why I tried to call and cancel my warranty today. Their sales rep kept hitting the fact that "We're listed # 1 by Better Business Bureau." Well, I know what the Better Business Bureau is about. You can buy your way in it. I read the results and feedback, and it looks like they did take care of some stuff. I don't believe all the people that complain were telling the truth, but they did get back to them.

    I asked the sales rep who their adjusters were and he told me it was Assurance Solutions. I looked them up and didn't like what I saw. I had called and told them when I signed up for this that "I'm going to check this out," and the salesman said, "You have 30 days. No problem. You can get your money back." I called to cancel, and the sales rep went through the whole spiel again that they're #1. I said, "You told me I can cancel anytime I wanted to and I don't have to keep the warranty for the whole time." I thought I only had 30 days to decide and would be stuck for the total amount but I talked to the customer rep at the cancellation department who was nice and told me, "No, you can quit at any time. You only pay for the service that you got. If you quit in the middle of the month, it's pro-rated." So I decided to go ahead and keep it.

    However, it bothers me that I can't get a hold of anybody. I called the vice president for public communications and left three messages for her over two days, and never got a call back. I also called the salesman and a couple of other numbers and didn't get any call back. If I can't get anybody to call me, then what's going to happen when I've got a claim? How am I going to get a claim settled? So I'm going to call the adjusters tomorrow and see how many adjusters call me back because if an adjuster doesn't call me back within a reasonable period of time, then something's wrong and I'm going to go ahead and cancel it because I don't want to go through some of the things that they're going to nitpick. But other than that, I'm going to give it a try.

He said that if something goes wrong with my car, example the motor broke, he'd take it to a place and they'd have it fixed. It'll only cost me $108.     For my peace of mind, I decided to get extended coverage for a car my wife drives because of the age of the vehicle. The car had a previous policy with CARCHEX that expires on the tenth of this month. I already have service with them, plus the fact that I saw a lot of write-ups about them and their ratings in the BBB, so I decided to go for them again.

    It was a little difficult purchasing the vehicle protection plan because I didn't realize that there were so many different plans that they could offer. They deal with a number of different insurance companies which offer different plans for different rates, and that was a little frustrating and confusing. The biggest problem was that it was hard for me to figure out what was or wasn't covered in these policies. Also, I think part of the problem is that although their protection specialists answered all of my questions, one of the guys I had been working with either quit or was fired. So I was pushed over to another one and it was just like starting the process all over again.

    At one point, I told them I wanted to go with Warranty Direct instead. The representative, Leon, was pretty good but he couldn't authorize a lot of things so he put me on with his supervisor. All of a sudden, he had all these discounts that he could offer in order to keep my business, such as loyalty customer points, manager discount points, and a $200 reimbursement at the end. They didn't tell me that all upfront to reduce the price of the policy. They were just trying to get it down then so that I would still go with them. That felt shady and it lessened my thoughts regarding the CARCHEX.

    We also had a situation wherein when I first contacted them, the car had 76,000 miles on it. When I contacted them again, it had 80,000 miles on it, but I didn't get anybody to call me back. Four or five months later, I contacted them again and now the car had 86,000 miles. I was then told that I can't get premium coverage, the bumper-to-bumper kind, any time the miles go over 85,500. My car had 85,046 miles on it so it just seems a little odd that everybody else kept saying they're gonna give it to me and just when I was getting ready to pay for it, I can't do it - all of a sudden, it's right at the break point of 86,500. When it was time for me to pull out my credit card, they came back and said that they made a mistake and that they can’t give that to me. I don’t know whether that’s good or bad, or if that was just an oversight on the company. But it seemed shady because they didn’t tell me that upfront.

    We bought our warranty over two years ago. We took our car to the repair shop (Ford) and were advised of the needed repairs. When Ford contacted Carchex they were told to wait for an adjuster to come and authorize the repairs. The adjuster came two days later on Wed. Ford called Carchex on Friday and were told that someone would be in touch with them later that day. On Monday, Carchex still had not contacted Ford. I called Carchex and was advised that Ford would be contacted before 5 pm that day. Ford wasn't contacted until Tuesday.

    I tried to get a rental car. I was told that they wouldn't pay for one until repairs had been authorized, which took 9 days. It has now been 12 days and still no rental car. This company is extremely slow and hard to deal with. The customer service is a joke. Carchex requires the repair facility to contact them multiple times and wait on hold over 30 minutes each time. Carchex is supposed to have rentals set up through Enterprise. Yet, I have gotten the runaround and still have no car. Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.
