I had facilities contact me almost immediately upon contacting A Place For Mom. I gave Renee my criteria, location we wanted, price range, what we wanted and needed from the facilities and that enabled me to make better-informed choices of the places that Renee had contact me. Throughout the process of interviewing facilities, Renee contacted me to find out how the search was going. A Place For Mom eliminated my having to search online for Assisted Living Facilities, as I also care for my 92-year-old mother-in-law, and my time is valuable. Great job!

My local representative, Heather, was wonderful! She was patient, caring, and empathetic. She listen to the various needs we had. She quickly complied a list of places that would fit. She continued to check in to see how the tours were going. She guided me through this process completely. I have gone through the process of finding a facility for my mother-in-law both with and without this service. I would absolutely recommend A Place for Mom! It is much easier, there are more resources available, and it takes less time on your part. Not to mention, you will have more information than you thought possible but you will need to make the best decision for you and your family.

The agents were very attentive and understood our criteria and situation perfectly. Especially when it came to my brother, who had flown in from out of town to help look for a place and had to return home on a certain day. They were fabulous at finding the right place, very quickly, and advising us on the most efficient way to finalize the arrangements.

I found you to be very helpful. However, our first choice was with American House. They took my mother’s money, after sending their Director of Nursing to our home and evaluating her. When we showed up they refused her based on her medical issues, lying to us saying it violated State law for her to be there. Also, refusing to refund all money after their breach of contract. We will have to sue them, register complaints with the BBB and State licensing board. Very deceptive organization bordering on criminal. My mother is at Deanne Hill and it is wonderful. Please don’t refer anyone to American House again.

The rating of 7.5 score that was given to Divine Home Nursing, was unjustly given. For several years Divine Home Nursing was with A Place for Mom. A Place for Mom changed their advertisement model. With the new model of charging for the click they are earning much more money than they did before. Divine Home Nursing tried the new model. However, it did not work for us. Therefore, Divine Home Nursing decided not to advertise with A Place for Mom any longer. A Place for Mom informed us that if we pulled out from advertising with them they would lower our experience stars to 7.5 stars. That was very cruel. But the reason for that is to point potential leads and clients away from our agency. Therefore, boosting agencies that continued to advertise with them. I would stay away from them. As they are only after the money. Not really that concerned about a place for mom or dad to thrive.

This is not providing assistance in the search. It is not helping to narrow down options. They just throw your contact information to every facility in your area. It is a horrible intrusion. I can call places myself if I want to talk to them without having additional information about their costs, features, and services. I know how to do a Google search. Stay clear of this place. Their goal is to get a finders fee from a facility if you go there. It is not to help you in your search.

They can be nice to talk with and offer some advice but when it came to helping us find a place all I got was a list of facilities in my area. I did the researching on my own. Anybody can do a Google search. Once they email you a facility name they will nag you with phone calls and emails to make sure they get their commission, even if they recommended a place 3 years prior. There are other companies (like Care Patrol) that provide detailed facility profiles that you can actually use to help make a decision. Much more valuable than a facility name in an email A Place For Mom gives you.

I am changing my rating based on the info above.

My coordinator Julianne ** was attentive at first and then all of a sudden stopped communicating by text, email or phone. I reached out several times to find out why the sudden disrespect when she knows the duress my family is under to no avail. She says she is available and will help but then turns around and ignores families in need. I then called the main 866 number for A Place for Mom to make an inquiry of what is going on and dealt with Ischa who knew nothing transferring me to another senior advisor who had no empathy or compassion and wanted to transfer me to yet another person. I finally just hung up. This is unforgivable when you are trying to find help for an aging parent that needs more care than a family can give and especially when you know the stress and angst the whole family is under. I will NEVER recommend them or use them again.

My family owns an In Home Health Care Agency. The representative from A Place For Mom informed our agency that they vet leads to make sure the lead is a good fit for our agency, then they charge us a $55 fee for each lead referral. We informed them we only wanted referrals with private pay and we were only looking for leads who were looking to start service within two months, they said no problem. They said they would create a profile of our agency on their website with our contact information, so that people seeking care for their loved ones may contact us directly. We were told if we make multiple attempts over a two month period to contact a lead and the lead does not reply, they would return the lead, meaning our agency would not be charged. EveryThing They Said Was A Lie.
The profile they created was simply a way for their website to come up in search engine results...so whenever someone searched for the name of our agency, A Place For Mom will show up at the top of the search results, once the person contacted A Place For Mom, they would sell their contact information to us. So they were using search engine optimization to capture our own leads and then selling them back to us. The profile they created for Our company had Their phone number at the top and ours way down below on the page. The way their phone number is displayed gives the impression that it is the number for our agency, a person would have to click on the "i" to see that is not the case.
The leads they gave us NEVER responded to our messages or called us back after over two months of attempts yet they refused to return the leads. Everyone that calls A Place For Mom seeking a home care agency or group home gets their contact information sold to Numerous agencies. So the person becomes bombarded with Agencies contacting them, this can be overwhelming and results in most agencies NOT getting a response from the consumer.
An agency would have to spend thousands of dollars just to get the possibility to close 1 lead. They take advantage of families and consumers. The very very very few consumers that have a good experience with this company, do so due to pure luck, they happen to get a call from someone who needs care asap and they happen to match them to a fitting agency. One of their own representatives stated that the leads tend to go silent once referred to an agency, meaning they are aware they are selling information of leads to agencies even though the leads tend to not reply. Another agent of theirs stated that A Place For Mom does not care if the leads never reply. A Place For Mom does not care if the lead they sent you does not reply and they do not care about the lead being bombarded with calls and messages from numerous agencies. All They CARE About Is The Referral Fee...
They are playing a numbers game and do not care about quality service to the consumer nor the agency nor do they care about being ethical. We have pleaded with them to remove our profile from their website, twice they informed us it was removed but they still have not removed it. We have pleaded and they are refusing to simply remove our profile from their website. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE if you need home care or a group home, PLEASE just contact an agency directly. This company is a scam scam scam and above all else they are unethical and liars. I wish I could give No stars, they deserve zero.

This is a scam company in my opinion who refers clients to everyone in the area. Your family like mine will get tons of calls and they don’t care about the level of care given by the places they send you. They are paid by the facility that’s gets you in there. Don’t go for it. Just do your research and search facilities on your own area and GO VISIT those facilities to see how they are run because A Place for Mom doesn’t care. They just want the referral money.

There is no real use case for this service. They have a list of costly options that you can google for yourself. The funding should be reallocated to giving seniors a credit to find care. My mom is 64 and needs some help as she is recovering from a stroke. The goal is to keep her in her condo that she owns with her cats. We just need someone to stop in once, maybe twice a week, to help with chores and make sure conditions aren’t spiraling in an unsafe way. A situation that exactly matches the use case that A Place For Mom preaches in their advertising. In practice, the home aide services that they use will charge you more than 100% of the average disability payment. In hindsight, I feel slimy trying to engage in communication with them. As soon as I was politely explaining that we couldn’t pay ~$2000 a month for someone to come in and help with chores once a week, communication threads would end.

A facility person told me A Place for Mom gets paid if they send the facility the name of someone who enrolls in the facility. She said, "If you're with A Place for Mom, the facility can't offer you the breaks or incentives they would offer if you came on your own since they have to pay A Place for Mom." A Place for Mom did NOT select places that fit my needs or help me with what I didn't already know. They sent me a list of pretty much every facility in the area that they get money from, so no matter where I went on my own, A Place for Mom would get paid. Their useful suggestions I knew already.
I never meant to enroll in A Place for Mom. I think I clicked on what looked like a specific facility but it was APfM. And they won't let me go. I asked to be released long ago, but for years now, I get email from them and am still ensnared in their clutches. Once I clicked on them, I was trapped apparently forever. If they email me and I reply a plea to let me go, I think I may be re-enrolling because I replied. I wish I'd never fallen into their hands.

I brought my mother home after a stay in rehab. She was age 94 and needed care during the day while I was at work. I also sometimes had 2-4 hours of care on Sat AM to catch up. I saw an advertisement for A Place for Mom ( APFM) on TV advertising that they assisted in securing trustworthy care agencies. They gave me a list of a few agencies. I tried two and both were awful. I am a nurse practitioner and I know how a frail, elderly person should be cared for. The caregivers from both agencies obviously were poorly trained in bathing, turning, and transferring.
One who was to come for two hours, arrived and sat down at my kitchen table to eat her bagel and coffee she had brought. That took 1/2 hour of the 2-hour session. One Saturday AM I returned from the grocery and found the aide had stripped my mother naked, no cover, had soaped her head to toe. My Mom was cold, shivering and crying. I walked in from the kitchen in time to hear the aide say, " just be quiet," It is obvious to me that APFM does not vet these agencies and gives out the agencies that pay them for the referrals.
When I see their add on TV, I could cry for the seniors who have no advocates in their home. The only information they gathered about my mom before referring was her insurance. The rehab discharged her one afternoon with no advance warning. I had to scramble to find care, quickly. I then was able to do my own research and secure better care for my mom. I reported back to APFM but found, later, they were still referring to the same agencies.

The advisor was very helpful in setting up a tour of a facility close to our house that he felt would best meet my husband’s needs. However the facility staff indicated that their level of service would probably not meet his level of need.
I then met with his neurologist and we discussed the type of options that might be more appropriate and he suggested several smaller group homes. When I tried to discuss these options with the advisor, he got very belligerent and told me that I didn’t know what I was talking about and the group homes would not meet his needs and that the facility could do everything we possibly needed. He would not listen to me when I tried to explain that both of facility and my doctor suggested that it wouldn’t meet my husband’s needs so I would make my own arrangements with the group homes. To that he said, "Fine. It’s all good," and hung up. I have never had such rude customer service especially from someone who is supposed to provide support and help during such a difficult time.

So real businesses are listed but when someone tries to communicate with that business they get the fraudsters instead. They are using false information for our business that does not reflect services we actually provide. This company is part of APlaceforMom.com, SeniorAdvisor.com, AssistedLivingCenter.com. It was not specific to my wishes or wants at all, and I was so inundated by unwanted calls that I ended up doing my own searching, only to discover A Place For Mom had given them my name in advance to “own” the referral and collect money for doing nothing more than giving them my name. They are clearly looking only to collect finder's fees for doing very little work. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM.

At 7:41 PM the same day, A place for mom called again.
I answered, very arrogant female, very controlling. I kept on interrupting her. "What are you going to help me with? I only want to tour a 5-plus apartment. Why are you telling me this?" I said, "Are you helping me financially?" She said no. "Then what kind of help you are going to give me?" She said, "I want to do a search for the best place for you?" "But, I am doing that for myself," I said, "I am looking for the best place for me! The people who live in this 55-plus apartment are not handicapped that will not need a guide to look for an apartment and I am not going to need your help. I stay in the place that I like is not because somebody telling me to do so." She said, "You are better than them right?" I said, "I am active, I am a full-time employee." She got offended. I asked to please remove my number from your calling list. I do not need an ORGANIZATION to tell me what to do and where to live.
My understanding about A Place For Mom They think that everyone who wishes to live in a 55-plus apartment is suffering from dementia and that they can't think for themselves. A Place For Mom will do everything for them. I was offended big time. Her parting shot was "Well, when you put your information out there we will get that information and we call you." But I didn't put my information out there. I didn't fill up any form. I call a number listed in the listing for rent 55-plus apartments. I received a condolence text and phone call from the representative. Very nice. Apparently that did not update their records. I continued to receive calls about setting up more appointments. Along with texts and emails. Finally I answered one last time to tell her that my mom had passed…again. She told me she never knew. When I informed her that in addition to her call, she also text me she then got mad that her system didn’t update. Not really a huge deal but it’s a difficult time for me. A Place for Mom was very helpful in providing suggestions for care for our mother with dementia. We only used their services for 6 months, but during that time they provided different options for memory care and then at home care as our mother's health declined. We discovered that after COVID, many of the online reviews for facilities were outdated and didn't reflect the current environment. Another after COVID issue is facilities having minimal staffing or using temporary staff to provide care.
It was helpful to have someone set up appointments and make the initial contact with the facilities for us. This was extremely helpful in quickly weeding out facilities that did not have any openings, saving our family valuable time. Ultimately it was our decision on who we used based on our site visits and interviews, but having someone to help us navigate the choices and options was what we needed. Our contact was very caring and understanding. We are grateful that this service was available.

A Place for Mom (APM) does not care about the people they "help for free." What they did do is harass me, waste my time, and add stress to an already very difficult time (having to place a loved one in a care facility). 1. I made it *very* clear to APM the geographical area I'm looking in and that this was my only region. Yet, I was sent emails about only facilities outside of that area. A blatant lack of concern for my expressed need. 2. APM made tour appointments on my behalf -without communicating with me- at these facilities. They sent me emails TELLING me when my appointment is and where. (None of which I went to as none were in the area I specified).
They seem to think I have no job and they are in charge of my schedule. Waste of my time. They're pushing people to use only their contracted facilities (That's where they make their money.) It's already a very difficult time; I resent that APM added further stress to my life. AND I was told by TWO different facilities that APM is infamous for this behavior. That they:
1. Do this regularly.2. Do not hear a person's needs but rather push them to use facilities they contract with.
Shame on them!
