About Tempur-Pedic
Tempur-Pedic is the original developer of memory foam mattresses. When you purchase from Tempur-Pedic or an authorized dealer, the warranty covers the mattress for 10 years, which is as long as traditional mattresses are typically expected to last. The Arthritis Foundation recommends Tempur-Pedic products based on evaluations by users, which makes the company a strong choice for those with joint pain.

We paid 2000$ CDN for queen size Tempur-Pedic mattress along with 500$ for an approved 6 leg support frame and box support structure. Our last plain foam mattress lasted almost 25 years and eventually wore out. We liked the foam so much we thought we'd invest in a very high quality foam based mattress. After about 5 years we felt definite depressions on each side of the bed where we sleep. There was a noticeable hill to climb if you moved to the centre of the bed. It felt like you were lying in a hammock with your main torso sinking in significantly lower than the calves or the shoulders. I am convinced that this has contributed to back pain for both of us.
Tempur-Pedic have the buzz off routine well rehearsed for their phone reps. Warranty package, pictures 3/4" minimum measurable depression, maximum politeness and so on and so on. The surface depression is not the issue. It is the degradation in the spring rates of the lower foam layers. All mattresses eventually sag but for 2000$ you can buy 3 or 4 average spring based beds and be a lot more comfortable!!!

We also bought one, hearing that it will change your life. Well it did for sure, and not for the better. We are in pain within minutes of laying in bed, all through the night, and worse when we wake up in the morning. Biggest piece of crap we ever spent money on. We had filed a warranty claim about 10 months after and when they came out they said there was nothing wrong with it. That it passed the indentation test. (Needs a noticeable 1-1/2" depression in it.) But yet when I lay on it, I sink down into a trench, and have to roll uphill to get out or turn over.
The pain we both experience is terrible, and we just could not continue to sleep on it. So we went and bought a Sealy spring and foam ($1800), and are sleeping great with no pain at all. Now at the 3 year mark, I am going to be fighting for a refund or something. Any suggestions are welcome from those whom has success getting warranty. The retailer (Dufresne) is very difficult to deal with, and we will never purchase from them again.

We purchased a Tempur-Pedic after being told by the salesman that it was "life changing". It certainly is life changing... since we paid over $4000 for it and now we wake up in agony many times throughout the night due to hip and low back pain. I literally HATE going to bed, because I know I'm not going to sleep well and that I'll wake up in pain.

We ordered the Pro Adapt Medium, total cost of 3708.94. It arrived 1st week in August. Mattress was extremely hard. We tried putting a mattress pad to help cushion it, but still way to hard for us. My husband developed back and hip issues that he had never had before sleeping on this mattress and has been seeing a chiropractor ever since. We decided it was not for us on Aug 21. I called into customer service to start the refund process. Was asked to exchange instead of return, the rep told me that if we exchanged then the return policy would be voided. I told her I wanted to return it, not interested in any other type of mattress.
She told me it would be 7-14 days and the shipper would contact me about picking it back up. After 14 days and no phone call, I called back into TP and they gave me the shippers phone number and told ME to call and schedule. The shipper finally picked up on 9/20. I was told after it was picked up and back to shippers warehouse that the refund would be 7-14 days. After 20 days and no refund, I called back into TP. Rep told me they were a little behind to give it a few more days. On 10/12, still no refund I called TP again. The Rep told me that what I was told previously was incorrect and I would have to wait until the mattress was returned to TP warehouse not the shippers. The shipper will not ship back to TP until they have a full load and this could take 4-6 MONTHS!! Refunds aren't given till AFTER they are returned to TEMPUR-PEDIC.
I got quite angry and stated this isn't what their website says nor was it what I was told on the initial call on 8/21. She then told me she could do an "Early Credit" and then proceeded to verify that my mattress had been picked up thru the shippers website. I was sent an email and was told that I would get a refund minus shipping in 7-10 days. It is now 10/26 (14 days) and still NO refund. I called again this morning and was told the Credit department is a few days behind. My advice is AVOID THIS COMPANY IF YOU AREN'T 100% SURE THIS MATTRESS IS FOR YOU. One of the worst experiences in my life.

We purchased a Tempur-Pedic mattress about 3 years ago under the assumption that it would give us the best night's sleep...wrong! I started having chronic, severe lower back problems. I woke up every day tired and hurting. My husband was sweating like crazy on this thing every night and complained of back pain, as well. A few weeks ago, I fell asleep on the couch in the TV room and woke up the next morning with NO back pain!! I slept there the next night just to test my theory...same result. I went back to sleep on the TP and, you guessed it, back pain. I now try to sleep in the TV room as much as possible to avoid having to go the chiropractor like I was. That mattress is the worst $3,000, I ever spent!!

I bought a mattress cloud and foundation. It just worked for 3 years, after that it started losing evenness under my body, some spots feel empty and some extra hard. I started getting shoulder and lower back pain. I contacted customer service because they claim 10 year warranty. I was expecting they'll send someone to see the problem but they just asked some stupid pictures and of course they denied it. You can pay one third of this expensive low quality mattress and buy another brand so you'll change it every 2 or 3 years, no need to pay extra money to nothing.

Great shopping experience at Sleep Train, now MattressFirm, but... HORRIBLE PRODUCT! Mattress is TOO HOT and caused extreme back pain for over a year. I was in great physical shape when I purchased this bed in 2016. Took a while to figure out the pain was coming from the mattress. I just couldn't imagine having extreme pain from a brand new mattress that cost so much $$$. I always felt worse when I got up in the morning and started to have extreme pain while sleeping. I had 2 different medium firm pillow top Beauty Rest mattresses and both turned out to be horrible. My hips and back hurt so bad from this mattress that I sometimes couldn't sleep & it took hours after waking to recover from sleeping on it!
"Lifetime Warranty" is BS. Company told me I had to PAY for a test kit when I said it was sagging after I only had it for 6 months. Then I read all the negative info same as my experience. I think it's time for a legal complaint! Avoid this company. Avoid this mattress. AND notice the 4 and 5 star reviews vs. the 1 star. The 1 star reviews have a lot of specifics about what and when purchased and problems with mattress and warranty/company. The 4-5 star reviews are brief, most bunched together in the same few days or month and most do not have specifics of when purchased (i.e. phony!).

I had ordered a mattress and base through the Tempur-Pedic website. Two weeks later I decided to called and make sure it would be delivered that week. The guy on the phone said the order was on backorder, but he would ship it out as fast as he could and guaranteed a delivery of early next week; he also sent two pillows for the inconvenience which was nice. The week comes up so I decide to ask online and was told my order was still on backorder and it was back in stock so it would be shipped out. She told me she would keep me up to date and "investigate" why I was told it would be delivered. She stopped responding basically. So I had called again to chat and the lady on the phone said it was again on backorder. Then proceeded to tell me that she would email me back to update me on the order...
Surprise surprise a couple days later I got no emails, so again I went to the online chat and got a lady named Berenice. I told her how frustrated I was and that no one was getting back to me. She told me basically the same thing about looking into the order and getting back to me. I was not expecting much from her, in fact, I was ready to throw in the towel and just order from another brand altogether. Surprisingly she got back to me and kept emailing me about the order and who the delivery person was going to be.
I'm still waiting for my mattress a month after ordering, but hopefully, this worker actually appears as though she cares and maybe I will get it within the next week. I don't feel like I should of had to of gone through that many people to get someone to figure out my order. Not only did I never get an email originally that my order would be put on backorder, but I was ignored by the employees. I don't recall who the people on the phone were as I did not catch their names but the other woman I had talked to online is Andrea ** and I specifically asked her if she was ignoring me after sending an email and not getting a response for 2-3 days. In which again was never replied to. I'm very disappointed by the customer service given.

We were early adopters of Tempur-Pedic about 18 years ago, and loved every night spent on that mattress. When we moved, we decided to get a new one and the CSR said the 'new' equivalent to ours was the Contour Supreme. A very firm mattress at $3200 (King). Less than a year later, we are very disappointed and achy, because this mattress is not firm at all. Curiously, the 'Supreme' model is being discontinued after just a couple years.
I tried to get some assistance from the company, now Sealy marketing Tempur-Pedic. Since our mattress is not outwardly defective, they would not allow any credit toward a new mattress, yet I contend the defect is in the design with too many soft layers modifying the firmness. The Contour Supreme is NOT a firm mattress. Long and short, we are discarding our 11-month-old T-P mattress, and buying hybrid, probably Saatva, which does in fact sell a firm mattress. Expensive lesson!

The mattress started sagging under normal use. Submitted a warranty claim and was approved for a replacement. The problem is the top of the line model I have was discontinued and replaced with a nearly identical model with a similar name. The main difference is the new model cost twice as much at retail price. The warranty department said I have to pay the difference in costs. I was willing to accept a lower model or even a mattress topper as long as there is no out of pocket expense and they are requiring me to choose a more expensive model so they can get another sale. The warranty is bogus so keep that in mind when Tempur-Pedic says 10 or 20 year warranty. Their support has long wait times, is super condescending with that I don't care attitude. It is only a piece of foam and which other brands of foam mattress feel the same for far less. I thought if I bought the name brand it would somehow be a better product or service.

It's HOT! It's ridiculously EXPENSIVE! BAD Warranty service! I can't say enough about how bad this company and bed is. I had to choose between sleeping with my newly wed wife in this bed or getting a good night sleep. Most of the time we have to run the AC just to go to sleep. I've slept on many kinds of beds in my life and all have pros and cons but this one is the overall worst. It took about a month just for the smell to go away and to get used to sleeping on the bed. After that I slept ok for maybe 3 or 4 months even though the mattress was really hot. After that I started getting pain in my hip because the bed got so soft it wasn't supporting my back and hips anymore.
I messaged the warranty people to let them know. In a nutshell I had to send pictures of the soft spot which actually turned out to be a dip in the mattress. Apparently my dip wasn't big enough for them so they would not deal with me anymore and pretty much told me to come back when the dip was bigger (I've only had the mattress a year-ish). Since then I have spent an entire month sleeping on the floor (not great for a new marriage). I now alternate between bed and couch because my wife likes sleeping together.

Well, I have to say we are disappointed. Our order was placed August 3rd. Our money was taken the same day. I would suggest that a nationwide company such as yours has inventory control and knows exactly how many mattresses it does and does not have. A follow up came Aug 16 saying, in fact, you did not have our mattress in stock. No offer of discount for poor service results. No offer of free upgrade to a mattress that you do have in stock. Nothing. You just hold our money, don't deliver the product, and offer nothing to a loyal returning customer. It must be the new American way. Don't be surprised to see this review copied and pasted on social media. After all, what else is a consumer to do?

If you are thinking about purchasing a Tempur-Pedic, make sure you buy it directly from them. I recently purchased one from a local retailer and was under the impression from the Tempur-Pedic tv ads that I could return it within 90 days for a refund. Well, this is not true. If you purchase it from a retailer, you are subject to the retailer's return policy not what Tempur-Pedic is advertising. I only found this out by going to Tempur-Pedic's website on the 90-day trial page and scrolling to the bottom to find the information. When I contacted Tempur-Pedic about this, they just gave me the runaround. I have had my bed for about 30 days now and feel it's not the right bed for me and may now be stuck with it.

After the sagging was more than we could take, Tempur-Pedic said they would replace my discontinued Contour Deluxe (a medium soft, great, contouring mattress) with a super firm Contour supreme mattress. They claimed a firm mattress was comparable to a medium soft mattress? To try and get a similar replacement for my Deluxe, Tempur-Pedic said I needed to pay over $2000+ for an Elite or even more for the Rhapsody. That is not a warranty at all! Purchased Tempur-Pedic 3” memory foam topper from Bed, Bath and Beyond. I was put on ** to reduce the inflammation in my lungs. The topper has been in another room for 6 weeks and I have to keep the door closed and a window slightly open, which is costly in South Florida. If I enter the room I immediate experience severe breathing problems and a headache soon follows after leaving the room. Bed, Bath and Beyond will not take the product back because 1) it’s been used; 2) I did not retain the original box or receipt.
According to the my research, off gassing is a reported problem with this product, which consists entire of synthetic chemicals, some of which are known carcinogens. I contacted Tempur-Pedic directly was told there was nothing they could do about it. Then was read a “generic” disclaimer about the safety of their products. They are fully aware of the complaints regarding this product and its health risks especially to those with breathing ailments such as asthma and emphysema yet no warning is included on the packaging nor any restitution made for this. The topper retails for $349.99 plus tax, doctor visits and medication for the inflammation that only began when their “safe” product was brought into my home.

I developed back pain and asked for replacement in 2004, the claim didn't go through. Persistently asked again in 2018, they say warranty if beyond 10 years, it will only be replaced up to 50% of a new bed purchase. They started claiming it's only 20 yr free replacement if bought on Tempurpedic.com and not Brookstone etc. Who knew about this catch. We bought this mattress 3 years ago and paid over $5000 for it. Came with a great warranty! Now when laying on the mattress you feel like you are in a hole and can not roll out. Sent in all the pictures 3 times, because they said the pictures were not of the whole bed (the pictures were of the whole bed) and need mattress tags and base tags every time it was something different. Every time I would have to strip the bed. Easily visible is the sag that is in the mattress. Can not flip mattress but we have turned mattress to see if that would help but did not. Please note I weigh just 160 lbs. The mattress has never been abused, stood on, jumped on it has had usual sleep use. I submitted a warranty with photos which clearly show the mattress sagging. Under instructions I placed a quarter under a straight pole along the straight edge. There is a gap of more than 1inch above the mattress to the pole. This clearly is part of their warranty and yet after less than one day they declined my warranty request.
So far disgusted with customer service and their warranty and I would advise anyone considering buying a Tempur-Pedic bed not to.

This sagging has resulted in severe back ache for me to the point I have a hard time standing up when I get out of bed. It is unacceptable that a two year old $5000 mattress should sag in this way. I would have had better experience with a normal box spring! The warranty is useless! I will be complaining to their CEO and will keep you updated on my progress. Clearly the springs have weakened, because every time we get in the bed it sags and provides no support. We are both in AGONY every morning with neck, shoulder, back and hip pain. We have taken to sleeping on the sofa. Tempur-Pedic won't honor the warranty because we can't provide a photo of a quarter standing upright in a 1 inch rut! Any mattress in that condition would even be rejected by the Salvation Army. Do not be duped into buying this mattress under any circumstances. There is NO WARRANTY. It's all just a ruse. When it comes time to file a claim, it will be denied without anyone even looking or examining your mattress.

I had a Tempur Choice mattress, which had adjustable air chambers to change the firmness. The mattress was only 3 years old when one of the air chambers burst and wouldn't hold air. In fairness to Tempur Pedic, when I contacted them initially, they approved my warranty claim with no questions. However, I then learned that the Choice mattress had been discontinued and that they offer no similar mattress or any spare parts.
I am told I am will be given a credit for the original purchase price. I tried a new mattress in store, and upon contacting them to order replace, I'm told they won't offer 90 trial period on my replacement mattress, even though they offer the trial period to all new customers. I would understand if my mattress was replaced in kind but since I have to get an entirely new mattress, I find it unacceptable that the trial period is not an option on my replacement. They also won't give me a refund for my original purchase price.
After arguing with multiple agents and a supervisor, they still won't provide 90 day trial option so I elect to simply order new mattress and be done with this. I'm then told that although the price for my new mattress on their website is showing $4,000 (for 4th of July sale), I have to pay the original $4,500 price because "warranty replacements aren't eligible for sale prices". What a joke! I become increasingly angry and after more arguing, Tempur finally agrees to honor the website price but how pathetic that they try to gouge you for more money after their product failure caused the issue in the first place. Bought our bed a few years ago. Oh my gosh... Where were these reviews before? I'm in constant pain! Don't have receipt to get new mattress, but I'd never, EVER buy a Tempurpedic again! It has ruined my back and my neck. I don't sleep but for a couple hours a night unless I'm exhausted due to lack of sleep. If you're thinking about Tempurpedic... Run! It doesn't not hold its form or return to its form. There's a divot where your body has been... And it stays there! Then, as somebody else has mentioned, you have to try to literally crawl out of that divot (hole) to get to another place on the mattress or get out of bed for that matter. I'm going to have to spend more money for a new mattress... I think gonna go back to Sleep Number. At least my back held up with that mattress.

Tempur-Pedic in our case is not standing by its mattress or its warranty. After spending about $8,000 on a mattress and an automatic bed, I feel duped. The mattress should not have such deep crevices on either side and a lump in the middle after just a few years of use. The right side frame should not have cracked and broken. Yet it has. Tempur-Pedic replaced the cracked frame, after weeks of back-and-forth negotiations and complaints. But, after their own technician confirmed that the mattress needs replacing and assuring us it would be replaced, we were just told that Tempur-Pedic denied our claim. My husband and I both have back problems after this mattress. Consumers should know about Tempur-Pedic's claims record before buying.

3 days after purchasing the Tempurpedic "Grand" bed, I experienced pain where my right arm connects at the shoulder. After some research, it turns out other people have this exact problem. If you are experiencing pain, flip the mattress over so the thick foam is on top and add a 2-3" gel topper. Please note: The Grand Bed originally MSRP for $10,000 and I had to add a $160 topper to make it bearable. I think sleeping on 10,000 one dollar bills would've been more comfortable.

It is with absolute disgust that I am posting this -- but I have no recourse. 4 years ago, I invested in a Tempur-Pedic mattress. 2 years ago, I found MOLD growing on the bottom of the mattress and filed a claim with the company. I wanted a refund, but they said they would only provide a replacement bed. They told me it was an environmental issue (considering Corvallis' weather) and that I needed to encase the entire new mattress in a protective sheet - as opposed to the mattress protector that covers just the top to protect against this happening. I did that. But guess what I found yesterday - Black mold growing INSIDE the mattress and pushing its way out of the protective encasing. Now let me be clear: there is no mold on the outside of the mattress protector, no mold on the foundations, no mold on the top of the mattress - the mold is AGAIN on the bottom of the mattress.
I filed a claim - and it was denied as "mold is considered an environmental issue". Again, there is no mold on the foundation of this bed and NO MOLD on any other mattress in this house. ONLY on the bottom of the very expensive Tempur-Pedic. I wrote to them on their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TempurPedic/) - and they blocked me. They sent my further complaints to a "higher department" who wrote back to report they decline my claim because they already replaced the bed once and mold doesn't fall under the warranty (the mattress has a 25 year warranty). That said, upon closer inspection - mold in Tempur-Pedic mattresses is a common problem with their mattresses. I have found complaint after complaint, videos, pictures, and blogs that talk about this issue - yet the company still does nothing about their poor product.

After 30 days I guess the Flex Supreme Breeze "broke in" a little and/or the weather in NY got a bit warmer and so our bedroom at night about 5 degrees warmer...the bed is not "as hard" as when we first got it, and while it IS cool (too cool in winter) when you first lie down on it, especially on your back (I watch TV like that for hours) after 45 min or so it does warm up a bit right under you...while where you are not lying is still cool but with summer coming even now it is nice. The company did treat us very well I must say and were fast in resolving the replacement of our "Cloud Supreme" with this current Flex... I chose it , I do think I'd have probably liked the Flex Elite (non breeze) better but that was my error..thing is no stores by me had the flex Elite to test so it was hard to choose but I am liking this bed now - it is "cushier" feel to it than it was 30 days ago. Time will tell as of now I give it 3 stars as it breaks in more or come summer may feel more like a 4 or 5 star rating.... Thanks

We had the King Cloud Supreme - in less than 3 yrs, craters developed on the sides where we slept, and in the middle was a firm hump. My husband with a bad back would with much effort roll out of his crater and uphill onto the firm hump in the middle of the bed, and thus hogged 3/4 of the bed. Tempur-Pedic DID replace it. It took a lot of persuading, but they did the right by us, thing is, and it is MY mistake I guess, we selected the King FLEX Supreme Breeze knowing that foams run a little hot. Big Mistake...
First off, this Flex is like a "regular" bed, except for the "BREEZE" feature...which is like sleeping on top of an ice skating rink! It is hard and COLD. If you live in the north and keep your bedroom 65 degrees or under at night, these beds I am told do not perform "normally"... The foam gets really firm and forget the BREEZE feature; I actually fear we could get pneumonia sleeping this thing. My husband suddenly already caught a cold after a week of sleeping in this new bed. Big Mistake on our part and they don't seem real anxious to take it back and replace with a NON Breeze bed either, even though the Flex Elite (top of the line) is actually cheaper as they charge 1,000 more for the BREEZE FREEZE feature!

I previously reviewed our Tempur-Pedic mattress stating that it gave out after eight years of use. That I called the people we purchased it from and they did a nonsense test that resulted in nothing but aggravation. I called Tempur-Pedic and jumped through the hoops of what they wanted me to do. Again the broomstick and quarter test did not pass their test and I was denied very quickly after sending pictures. I told the customer service person I wanted the VP of operations to call me ASAP.
Two days later I got a pleasant response! They are replacing my mattress! So there is hope! You just have to be persistent! Through all this I found that their customer service reps responded quickly. When I had to choose a mattress I was on the phone with customer service for an hour on a Sunday night to find the best fit for us. The guy was great! I learned things I never knew about foam mattresses, and was able to make the right choice. My faith has been restored! Thank you Tempur-Pedic!

My wife and I have back problems, so we were very interested in the Tempur-Pedic warranty of 20 years. We bought a Tempur-Pedic Deluxe King bed along with the bases. The first 8 years were great! Woke up feeling like we were 20 again. Now the mattress is not holding its firmness. We both have the divot in the mattress where we consistently fall asleep. To move to another part of the bed is like crawling out of a small hole. So I called the company, and they sent a warranty claim form for me to fill out. I jumped through the hoops. Sent a copy of the receipt, the mattress tags for both the mattress and foundation, and did their put a broomstick across the mattress garbage, putting a quarter up against the broomstick, so they could see the depression in the mattress.
Now before this we had the people we bought the mattress from, come over and do a measurement. They came up with a 3/8 measure of depression. They told us that it had to be a 3/4 or better depression to do something about the mattress. When we did the quarter, broomstick thing, it was clearly over 3/4. So in the end after sending all documentation to Tempur-Pedic over the internet, within an hour and a half on a Sunday, 4/8/18, we got the denial. It's normal wear and tear! Ok so if you weigh less than 120 pounds, this is the mattress for you. If not have fun crawling out of a divot before the warranty is less than half over! How can they tell from a broomstick and a quarter that when we lay in the bed, we sink farther into the mattress than ever before? NEVER AGAIN TEMPUR-PEDIC. I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST BUYING ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. I WASTED $3100!

I purchased this top of the line Cashmere topper Tempur-Pedic mattress and box spring 5/13/2006 for $4393.63 from Sleep America In Tucson AZ. I was told it had the best warranty on the market. I could rest assure I was problem free for the next 25 years. So like a fool I invest this chunk of change on a bed. Oh yes for 10 years it was amazing. When I traveled which was extensively at the time I could not wait to get back to my Tempur-Pedic. In the last year I have experienced debilitating back pain. It started when I found it so difficult to get rolled out of bed at night to pee, when morning rolled around I could hardly get moving. It was so painful. I never dreamed it was my mattress.
So when visiting my son in VA I noticed no morning pain this after running up and down 56 stairs top to bottom chasing toddlers. This time coming home it was the first night my legs were buckling when getting up. I then decided to sleep in the spare room. Zero pain!!! I contacted Tempur-Pedic and jumped through the hoops. I even had the documents showing when, where, and cost. The tag was still on the bed. I followed the directions with the string. Seriously I have a 2 inch pillow top on the bed. When asked to remove it again seriously it is glued on and removing it could void the warranty. Measuring across the top with a string was like a candid camera moment! Yea look at that useful idiot knowing it was not going to show the sag unless you get up and sit in the frigging hole.
STAY CLEAR OF TEMPUR-PEDIC!!! Their warranty is just a con to purchase a high priced item. Save your money and go with a better priced Mattress and just replace it every 8 years! I was not even looking for a free replacement I would have gladly paid a prorated amount. I had 10 wonderful with this mattress but I could have purchased 3 or 4 new ones and experienced the same love affair.

I started to wake up with an intense morning backache after 11 years on the Tempur-Pedic mattress. I realized the culprit was the mattress when I slept on the hotel bed without any pain for a week during my vacation but then the pain returned once I slept on my bed. After reading other consumers reviews and Tempur-Pedic warranty terms, which is 25 years for mine, I filed a claim and described my morning backache situation to their warranty office. Like other customers who wrote reviews here, they had me submitted photos to show sagging by leaning a coin against a straight edge to measure the depth of sagging condition.
After a few email exchanges that they kept denying the mattress was sagging but “softened”, I was quite turned off to continue using Tempur-Pedic mattress or memory foam mattress entirely. As I really needed a new mattress to get over the morning backache, I purchased a latex mattress from Zen Heaven by Saatva after a pretty thorough online research. I am glad of making this judgment call for not dealing with Tempur-Pedic any longer as they clearly do not honor their own warranty or try keep their customers around. No more morning backache and no more Tempur-Pedic for me.

We purchased a Tempur-Pedic Contour Rhapsody Luxe in 2016. It felt great until just a few days AFTER the 90 day trial period, when it started sagging. I tried to return it, but unless you can send a picture proving that the mattress is sagging 3/4 of an inch, you will not be able to talk to a real person. All their phone lines are Automated until they get a picture. It is almost impossible to prove that the mattress is sagging, because the memory foam springs back once you get out of bed. So, no picture, no real person to talk to and no return.
The sagging got worse and worse until it became like a crater that was almost impossible to crawl out of. I pulled muscles and hurt my back worse from trying to get out bed! After much research, our solution has been to flip the mattress over. We found out that the bottom layer is made of 5 inches of Polyfoam. It now feels too firm, but it is so much better than lying in a crater each night and pulling muscles trying to get out of bed! For now, we put two egg crate mattress pads on top. We're also thinking about adding a layer of Talalay Latex for the top layer. We will never purchase another Tempur-Pedic mattress again! We think the foam was defective, but the automated phone lines will not allow you to talk to a Real Person without that blasted picture. So, I guess we're stuck with it. The whole experience has been very disappointing and we would not recommend this mattress to anyone!

About a year ago, dips started to form where my husband and I sleep. We are not big people. I was told, “This should never happen!” by Mattress Discounters, yet the warranty wouldn’t cover the problem.
Three months ago, I started PT for back pain, yet can’t seem to fully recover. I’ll go to bed feeling fine and wake up several hours later with lower back pain. By morning, I can barely crawl out of bed. It finally hit me: It’s the mattress. At first it was super hard... we did buy the firm one but it took a really long time to break in and be comfortable. It also smelled like hell for the first two weeks. Once it broke in, it was pretty good - until it started to sag. My husband's size (for reference he's 6'2" and 180 or so - not a heavy guy at all) has a giant dip in it, to the point that I can't even switch sides with him because I feel like I'm going to roll off. So I naively thought - no big deal, we have a warranty! It will be fine! It's annoying to have to deal with breaking in a new smelly mattress but at least we didn't spent $5000 on a piece of junk.
Alas, contacting customer service was horrendous experience... I was told to find some number that is virtually impossible to find on the mattress (b/c it weighs a million pounds) and then fill out some long idiotic form AND of course most importantly, get a picture of the problem. I first bought my Tempur-Pedic 17 years ago because a pillow top bed we had recently bought was hurting my neck and mid back. I called Tempur-Pedic within the first few days because I hurt worse than I had on the pillow top mattress. They said to give it two weeks, so I did. I slept deeply than I ever had before BUT with intense neck/shoulder/back pain. I began seeing a chiropractor regularly, changed pillows every 2-3 months, but nothing helped. I have seen doctors throughout the years about the pain, had many blood tests run, all to be told there was nothing wrong with me.
In recent years I thought it was related to my blood sugar, so I cut out sugar. That didn't change anything. In the last 9 years, I have battled pain in my veins, skin soreness, and could barely walk the first few minutes of rising each morning and had hip-joint pain and pain in my knees and feet. I began to think there was some disease in my body that no one could find. I have lost weight to see if that would help. No.
About a month ago, we bought a new bed for my daughter and decided to try a pillow top bed again for ourselves. I hurt worse on that bed, but we could not take it back because of a liquidation sale with no returns. I began sleeping on my daughter's regular, no-frills bamboo mattress with a 2-inch foam topper and slept much better with decreasing neck and back pain. Last night I slept on the Tempur-Pedic again just to see if this 17-year-long experiment proved accurate, and I rose barely able to walk, with skin soreness and pain from neck to tailbone and hip-joint pain. A brand new Tempur-Pedic king cloud breeze mattress and box springs were purchased Nov/Dec 2016. We were severely impacted by Hurricane Harvey - complete loss of everything in the house. We had flood water enter the house and stay there for 24 hours. We had to be rescued from our home. We lost all furniture, appliances, clothes, and this nearly brand new mattress we are still paying for. Homeowners will not cover flood contents. FEMA will only cover 10K which does not even cover our appliances lost. Had to throw everything out due to mold, and it has been stolen by looters (photos to prove). An awful, devastating situation.
Called Tempur-Pedic last week and received positive feedback regarding their attempt to come up with a policy to assist us and was told to call back this week. I have called back and was told "This phone number (customer service) will be unable to assist you. Contact FEMA or the Red Cross or some other organization of the sort." No attempts to work with me, no attempts to try and help their customers who have lost their mattress. This does not fall under their warranty because it is not a manufacturer defect, rather an act of God.
I will never invest in a Tempur-Pedic mattress and will make sure all of us flood victims are aware of their lack of sympathy and assistance with this matter. All in all, after losing everything and having to pay thousands in FEMA deductibles, and FEMA being unable to assist with contents, I will have to continue to pay off a mattress that was ruined by an "act of God." This statement was confirmed by the customer service representative who directed me to contacting a relief agency rather than calling back Tempur-Pedic. Shame on you Tempur-Pedic.

Purchased the Rhapsody Luxe Matt Split King adjustable base in 11/30/2016. Paid $7,242. At first we thought it would be great. My husband prefers a firm mattress. I went along for his comfort. I have since realized the heat it puts off keeps me awake. It only gives in the middle of the mattress. Getting out of the bed is like climbing out of a raft. I could stand all of it if it was cool while I slept. According to the company as long as I keep the room at 65-75 the mattress will be comfortable. That's a lie. I've purchased special sheets. I even purchased a $300 bed topper with cooling. That didn't work. When you hear people say they are hot believe them.
I wish someone had mentioned the heat and the fact that if you're a side sleeper don't get a firm Tempur-Pedic. In the past we had purchased a firm bed with a pillow too and it was fantastic. It takes way longer than 3 months to wear in a mattress long enough to see if it is going to work for the long term. I think they don't give you much time to exchange because it is a very expensive bed and they don't want the hassle of exchanging it. I was even willing to pay the difference. I was told there is nothing they will do. Now I know why Mattress Firm who sold the bed no longer does business with Tempur-Pedic. I now have to decide to stop paying on it to get rid of it or hope it sags enough to put a warranty claim in.

Original Review: Aug. 23, 2017
In 2010 we purchased what we thought would be the last mattress we would ever need since it had a 20-year warranty. After 6 years we began to notice that the mattress was sagging to the middle. That was when I really began looking at the warranty and realized that what you have to do to get your mattress repaired or replaced is absolutely RIDICULOUS AND LAUGHABLE! -- You have to jump through hoops that are almost insurmountable. It involves a broom stick and a quarter, of all things.
Our problem is that the mattress doesn't show the sag unless you are lying on the bed. When you get up off the bed the sag isn't visible. I have called Tempur-Pedic numerous times in the last month and have been told that someone would get back to me. First it was in 24-48 hours. Then it was within 3-5 days. I'm still waiting. After almost a month we realize that they probably don't intend to call us back. Please, before buying a Tempur-Pedic bed READ THE WARRANTY and how it must be applied. It is an eye-opener. I would never again spend the almost $4,000 for this brand. I could have purchased three less expensive mattresses for the price. Unfortunately, we are retired and on a fixed income so this bed will have to do for a long time. What a terrible investment we made! I think of it every night when I get into bed.

In Sept 2016 purchased the Tempur-Pedic mattress Contour Rhapsody Luxe King Size $3,799 from Havertys Furniture in Wesley Chapel. After 4 mos this mattress started to sag. I contacted them and they advised me that I had 3 mos to contact them if any problem and I would have to get in touch with Tempur-Pedic, in any event I talked them into sending a tech over to look at mattress. He put a string and a 1'' piece of ruler over mattress took a picture and left.
A few days later Havertys called and said I need to call Tempur-Pedic, after putting thru a claim and doing all the nonsense required to file this claim they said I would have to wait and try again in a few months. The space between the quarter and the broom handle wasn't sufficient enough to replace with a new mattress. I feel after only having this product for 4 mos at that time this should not have happened, I am going further. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE PURCHASING FROM THIS COMPANY.

Well under the cover was a real mess, torn netting that was over the foam, mold growing, when you touch the foam it rips apart and the topper was when we flipped it over it's full of stains looks like blood, so after 3 weeks of them giving me the runaround I got a call saying they would do me a favor and replace it again but I need to pay $1300! Tempur-Pedic purposes that their beds never have to be turned or flipped. When I am laying on my bed I lay at an obvious angle... my head is lower than my pelvis and feet... as shown in the photos I have submitted, as requested, by use of a quarter along a straight edge. The straight edge used happens to be a 6 ft level, which ALSO illustrates an obvious sag. In the same photo one can see light coming from under the straight edge. Again illustrating the sag. We were told when we purchased our Sealy Tempur-Pedic mattress that Sealy would offer us a lifetime warranty (which is 10 years). We purchased the mattress from Mattress Firm for $2,800.00, and felt confident that they would honor the mattress in case it had any flaws that may arise. Needless to say after 2 years the mattress started to sag on one side.
We contacted Mattress Firm and they informed us that they no longer carry any more Sealy mattresses and apparently Mattress Firm was not happy with their product. I was told to contact Sealy directly, when I contacted them it was a call center. They would not give me a phone number to Sealy directly. I had to go through them, they set up an appointment for someone to come out and inspect my sagging mattress. When they showed up the man put a string across the bed and snapped a few pictures, which was a total joke. The only way you can see the sagging is to actually sit or lay down on the bed, which the hole sinks pretty far down, even the inspector agreed.
Well needless to say Sealy contacted me and told me that they would not honor the warranty because they could not see any sagging from the picture. I could not believe after owning this garbage of a mattress for 2 years and paying high dollar that they would not stand behind their product. Please don't make the same mistake as we did. Even Mattress Firm has had problems with warranties that is why they no longer carry their crappy mattresses. BEWARE!!!

The cover was ripped and there were several marks and a couple of stains. The delivery driver said it looked to him like the piece was refurbished. He said he had delivered lots of mattresses and he could tell when they were not "new". The plastic cover had been opened and taped back up. When I contacted the company... after several LONG waits on hold, I was transferred to a supervisor who basically told me they NEVER sold used or returned mattress and either the delivery guys or I must have damaged it. What???
I even had pictures to prove the damage... he wasn't interested. No apologies or adjustments... but they would resend a new piece. (I am still waiting...) Eventually I called about the reship and about a $300 bonus offer I was supposed to receive with my mattress purchase. The agent told me she had a note in my account and that I would get the $300 accessory credit, to just call back and place the order whenever I was ready. In fact, since it was about $3800, it was a painful decision to get rid of it, at the insistence of my Chiropractor, the physiotherapist and my GP doctor, who attributed the worsening of my scoliosis and the neck injury to the bed. If you are 100 lbs and have small bones, this bed can feel like a rubber tire. It was putting pressure on pain points and not supporting the arches. Long story short, I have since changed to a traditional bed (Beautyrest Simms Legends in image below) with pillow top and have slept amazingly well and have seen immediate effects on decreasing soreness.

For ages I could not understand what was happening until I Googled and found this review site. How sad and relieved I was to find out many people experiencing the same.
I contacted Tempur UK as that is where I live, and they told me my contract was with my retailer. You are told to check out the replacement mattress to make sure you want it because the transaction is final. The warranty people talked up the idea of upgrading to another mattress which gives you a brand new warranty. What you aren't told is that if you upgrade and don't like the new mattress you have no recourse. Tempur-Pedic considers the upgrade as a warranty exchange which does not entitle you to an additional 90-day trial period. I bought this unit brand new in the box as a floor model for approx. $1900 and an additional $1400 for the adjustable base.
Now, trying to use the warranty and Tempur-Pedic is asking that I pay the full retail value of the original bed... another $2200 in order to get to use my original $1900 on the purchase of another mattress. The rep was very attentive and we got an exchange to the same mattress but an updated model. It is a little harder than the other one we had but that is a good thing. The customer service was excellent. And so far, the mattress is great. I will keep you posted if it lasts. Thank you Lene for working with us.

Horrible product, no integrity within this company. My husband and I purchased a Grand from Tempur in 2009 for about $11000 (Canadian) with the bases. My husband was in the military and was medically released with back injuries after 27 years service. The Tempur bed was recommended to us by a "bed specialist" as per the release department at the end of my husband's career. It was a glorious bed for about four years. At the end of the fourth year however, we contacted Tempur because the bed was so soft and saggy and was offering no support. We submitted pictures and our invoices as well as the registration information that they already had on file and it took them about six weeks to replace the mattress.
We immediately noticed that the new mattress had problems as the men who arrived with their "white glove" service, had snapped all the threading on the top of the mattress by folding it in half to get it up the stairs into our home. That one was replaced immediately. Move forward to today. I will preface this point by saying that I am meticulous in caring for this mattress because of the cost of them and also because I really wanted it to last for the lifetime of the warranty. It is covered by a full protective Tempur cover at all times, is not exposed to light or heat etc.
For the last three months or so, I have been washing and washing our bedding and deodorizing our house and our room in particular as there was a lingering, musty, old oil type smell. When I removed the protective pad from our bed to see if I could find a source for the odor, I found a strange yellowish color leaching through the mattress everywhere that the layers were sewn or glued together. That was where the fun just began. When I phoned Tempur I was informed that the company I had to go through was Tempur Canada since the company was now two branches.
I was then also informed that the Canada side of the company had changed over their data system in 2014 and they had no warranty or registration information anymore therefore, if I didn't have my original receipt, I was on my own. They then admitted that because I had a claim in with them in the past, they DID have my information but that it was not readily accessible. Further to that, they informed me that Tempur Canada was not carrying the "Grand" anymore as it was not selling well in Canada and they had made the decision to discontinue it. I questioned how it was possible for a company to sell a bed with a 25 year warranty and then basically tell a consumer to get stuffed because the bed was not available in Canada anymore but was still being sold by Tempur US as that is the origin of all Tempur mattresses.
Here we are six weeks of pictures, emails and phone calls later and on February 1st, I received an email saying that Tempur US had decided to replace my mattress and protector. When I didn't hear anything further from the company, I phoned yet again. I have now received an email and a phone call saying that they are reneging on the replacement and they want an inspector to come to my house. That was accompanied by a "We're sorry about this, we don't know what's going on in our own company."
I am sooo done withTempur!!! I sleep in a bed that stinks, is changing color and is completely destroying our backs, from a company that offered to replace the mattress and then reneged on the offer two weeks later. They now want me to wait for them to find someone to come out and inspect the bed, create a report, get that report back to Tempur Canada followed by Tempur US and they will make a determination... If you are purchasing a mattress, WALK AWAY from TEMPUR!!! Do yourself a favor and read these reviews and look into all the complaints about off gassing, odor and mold!!! Not worth the time dealing with them, the sleepless, hot nights or the hoops that you have to jump through trying to get this company to honor their warranties.

Have always owned a standard old style Tempur-Pedic bed - queen sized, 8" I think it was. Always pleased with comfort and feelings of being well rested and without pain upon arising. Never had any warranty issues... Until we "upgraded" to a king bed. Purchased the Alura set in 2019... 3 years later, ruts, sinking, unable to move out of them, huge hump in the middle. Filed a warranty and was pleased with quick response and exchange.
Once again, now 2017, we are having the exact same problems. The style with extra topper of Tempur material has failed us again. We have a warranty claim in once again. HATE this model and need to get rid of it so we don't keep having the same problem every three years. I give them 5 stars or the ease of replacement the first time. I'm awaiting a response from them at this time. I'm hoping to give them another 5-star rating if they come through for us, but for some reason I have a SINKING (no pun intended) feeling that I'm going to have a problem this time. I hope they prove me wrong! I don't see the pillow top on their website anymore, so I'm thinking that there were numerous issues with it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed before I tempur-bash them all over cyberspace.

Love the bed...or did. When it came time to replace air chamber due to leaks the first time was ok... I paid shipping. Second time they charged me for the air chamber and shipping. I bought 2 this time. After 12 of the 20 year warranty they sent me a green air chamber system telling me it was a new UPGRADE... "You don't want this chamber... it's higher on one side and rolls you to the middle." The lady won't entertain returns...and won't sell me the air chambers I grew to love. When I told her I'd take them to court her response was "don't you think you have gotten your money's worth?" I would take them to court...but to miss work would not be worth the effort.

We purchased a Tempur-Pedic King Bed in 2010, we were hoping this bed would last us for a good while, we were in our mid 40's at the time. 6 years later it has become soft and no longer firm and a hole has formed in the middle. My wife now aches from sleeping on it and has ventured to the guest room. Mattress Warehouse is no longer in town and Tempur-Pedic requires numerous things, which I'm sure are impossible to equate to warranty procedures for credits. During 2012, I purchased 3 Tempur-Pedic Simplicity medium Twin XL mattresses. In 2017, 5 years later, 2 of the mattresses have a lot of black mold growing under them. (Note: The top of the mattresses are nice and white, no stains, but the underside has mold) So, it is not an isolated incident. (All people sleeping on the mattresses were over the age of 15) I contacted the distributor who sold me the mattresses. I told them that these mattresses are extremely expensive and are totally worthless within 5 years. As a child, I got my 1st mattress at the age of 4, I urinated in it, spilled chicken soup and cereal all over it. For 10 years, this old cheap mattress never had mold. It seems these expensive fancy-dancy mattresses are not worth it. And, black mold is not covered under their warranty. Note: If you go to Tempur-Pedic's website to write a review, you can't if your mattress is over a certain age. You can only write a review on their newer models.

In 2009 I spent almost $7500 for a split king (2 twin longs) Rhapsody Tempur-Pedic mattresses. I have some bad back, neck and shoulder problems and have undergone several surgeries. Of course with a cost like that I did a pretty exhaustive Due Diligence and research. I also spent some hours at a local Mattress Firm to try different beds. I am usually a high end buyer but only after checking out all the options but undoubtedly biased towards higher end products, sometimes to my detriment. At any rate, after two years one of the mattresses had some indentations and I felt that was probably the reason for the problem.
They felt comfortable but I hurt every morning. I did contact Tempur-Pedic explained my problem and filed a complaint with them along with a series of pictures. The customer service was very good and agreed to let me replace the bed or upgrade. So I went back to the dealer and went for one of the highest models for another $2000 and again it felt comfortable in the retailer with the limited time I could do this. I do not have a problem with the company and these mattresses may be fine for some people but my back is worse than ever.
We do travel a lot and again usually stay in higher end hotels and just came back from a California trip where we stayed at a Hilton and Marriott and they had just wonderful beds. While my back problems obviously didn't stop in just two weeks there was no doubt that those expensive conventional beds were a lot better on my back. These two mattresses I have now are in perfect shape and I have made up my mind that regardless of the money I have invested, I will have to change again. My wife seemingly has no problem with these beds at all but she doesn't have back problems like I do. She rarely complains on any beds we have been on anywhere in the world even when I was crippled. So again this bed might be fine for some people but people with back problems, I would look elsewhere.
Now to be specific, I upgraded a Rhapsody TXL to the Pure Opulence! I am not sure what to do with these two perfectly clean and two year old Pure Opulence mattresses. I am going to replace them with a conventional bed but I am just not sure which one yet. What a shame and in the end a waste of a lot of money. Buying a mattress is one of the most difficult important buys in one's life. This industry is full of gimmicks though and false advertising. What a shame when all you want is a bed that you can get a good night sleep!

I hope those who are enjoying their Tempur-Pedic continue to do so but I don't think that is likely. Six years into mine, the real nightmare began. I started with horrific neck, shoulder, hip and back pain. Then one Saturday at 2:30 am, I awoke believing I was paralyzed. I had to swing my legs to the edge of the bed, and slide my feet to the floor. I quickly realized that my right hip was not going to support me, and Sat on the edge of the bed. The only thing I could do, was start holding onto furniture to get to the living room. I settled into my computer chair. While there, I researched "pain from Tempur-Pedic mattresses."
There were hundreds with the very same complaints. One woman's husband had to actually hold her up to stand. As with me, she had no problems before the Tempur- Pedic bed. In my researching, I found that within several years, the foam breaks down. If you are a couple, it can cause a ridge in the middle of the mattress. With Tempur-Pedic you don't move. NOT GOOD. You need to change position while sleeping. To make a long story short, I am unable to sleep on a conventional mattress of any kind, pressure is too much to bear. I now sleep on a very expensive inflatable mattress. Even 3 years later I have lingering effects from the Tempur-Pedic. I bragged about the bed at first but now discourage people from getting one.

We got our king-size tempurpedic mattress Feb 2015 as a replacement for a worn out Simmons BeautyRest which was a great mattress while it lasted. I did a lot of research and we went with the Cool Breeze version of the Tempurpedic. This is supposed to have less of the body heat issue that the Tempur-pedic mattresses are infamous for. We did notice more heat than the previous inner spring mattress. One thing that helped was taking off the cheap dust mite cover and replacing with a higher quality one that breathes more. So this has significantly reduced this issue and we have not noticed it any more.
We have now had it for a year and a half. My wife started complaining of some back stiffness for a few months and finally decided that it was the mattress. She was ready to get rid of it. She is a side sleeper. I am more of a back sleeper. I read that one problem with Tempurpedic is that the 'break-in' period is much longer than an inner spring mattress.
I also read that some people had gotten a pillow topper like the Hospitology goose down alternative as a way of making it softer until it has time to break in. Some other people have recommended walking on the mattress but didn't say how much or how often to do this. We also considered getting the adjustable base as a demo in the store revealed that just a little elevation of the head and feet takes a lot of pressure off of the back. But we decided against it in case the issue with the mattress did not resolve we did not want to be stuck with the expensive adjustable base.
So I had her change sides with me. I weigh about 50 pounds more than she does. I did notice that her side was a bit stiffer but it didn't really bother me. She, on the other hand, noticed that my side was much more comfortable and her back stopped hurting almost after the first night. We are both sleeping solidly through the night. She has not given up 'her' side of the bed (which used to be mine). But she said once I break her side in she will switch back. So after a little bit of a hiccup with the breaking in issue and the body heat problem (resolved by taking off the cheap dust mite cover) we - so far - are very pleased with the Tempurpedic mattress.
