I was a misled when I re-financed my home. I am now without one! I am in foreclosure. HSBC has also caused me to file chapter 7.

Ashley of Burlingame, CA February 12, 2008

I financed two off road vehicles through HSBC bank. I lost my job and fell behind on my bills. The first one, which is a Yamaha account, was recently sent to Corporate Receivables collection agency. I filed a complaint about Corporate Receivables because of the horrible treatment I received. After I filed that complaint, I called HSBC Recovery dept. and found out that my account was no longer with Corporate Receivables. I was also told, that to bring my Yamaha account current, I needed to pay 391 dollars. So I paid them 400 dollars and about a week later received a statement in the mail showing that I owe them 505 dollars. I called HSBC to see if they received my 400 payment, which they did, but now I owe them another 105 dollars. I thought there was a mistake so I was transferred to a supervisor. I told her that I was told by a gentleman in the Recovery department that to bring my account current I would need to pay 391.

This supervisor lady told me that she doesn't know who told me that, but my account isn't with HSBC anymore--it's with Corporate Receivables now. So obviously HSBC has misled me to think that my account is with them, and all I had to do was pay 391 dollars; and apparently that is not the case anymore. They gave me false information and have been jerking me around this whole time.

My second account with them is my Suzuki account. This one I purchased with a minimum monthly payment of 56. I just recently received a statement showing my new monthly payment from now on is 186. I called them to ask about this one and they said well since you defaulted, the promotion plan changes to a normal plan with a higher finance rate. Well, I can't afford to pay 186 dollars per month. HSBC does not care and keeps on trying to ruin me. This is by far the worst bank ever to work with. I will never work with them again. I need this resolved the fair way.

This is causing me an unbelievable amount of stress. I am getting so angry with these people. This can't be good for my health. Not only that but my credit is going to be damaged significantly if this is not fixed.

Daniel of Russell, PA February 12, 2008

Ramona contacted my work phone to inform me of past due payments. I explained to her that the bill hadn't been coming to my physical address. I also explained that 3 months prior I contacted HSBC to inform them of a change in mailing address, of which she had records for proof. She presumed to talk in a negative tone trying to justify charging my account over 50 in late fees. Ramona (employee of HSBC) wasn't willing to accept or express any fault for the negligence of HSBC in changing my physical address. She used demeaning tone and language. I am very disappointed in HSBC's lack of professionalism.

I am now going to have to pay almost twice the original amount of initial purchase. I have to face potential credit score damage--which effects me in multiple ways. This also causes psychological damage - in the sense that I have developed an inability to trust credit card services, or any organization that handles my financial transactions.

I was verbally abused. HSBC would not cash two payroll checks for me when I said I wanted to most likely close my account. However, at that exact given moment, my account was STILL open and she had to legally cash the checks. Prior to this these, they would not cash the same one payroll check for my significant other through me. He has to open an account there.... No. I have banked there for 20 yrs., and they have the worst customer service I have EVER seen. Judith yelled at me in front of a line of people saying: When you bring money in, have it in the correct denominations. Then the Judy Jelliff woman would say when I tried to cash the checks, "Is this for HIM? I told you before that HE HAS to open an account here if he's going to keep wanting these cashed here." Despite the fact that I have had an account with them for 20 yrs., this bank has the most verbally abusive tellers I have ever seen.

My banking is now through Chemung Canal who are very kind, resourceful, accommodating and honest.

We were approached by a mortgage broker to refinance our mortgage. We ended up getting an adjustable rate that is now over 14%. That is our first mortgage with Countrywide. We also have an equity line of credit with HSBC which is also an adjustable rate. This is not what I asked for. When we signed the papers, we paid over 9000 in fees for the first mortgage and over 7000 to HSBC. I am currently facing foreclosure because the rates have jumped so high, I can't keep up with them. I have applied for modifications to no avail. Please help!

Stress level through the roof, cant concentrate at work, marital problems. Possibly losing family home of 15 years.

Thomas of Richmond, KY February 5, 2008

I took the Account Shield. I got laid off Sept. '07. The Account Shield still has done nothing to help this situation as of Feb. '08! Of course, HSBC says this is not their problem and keeps tacking on fees and such! I call every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times--I mean every day including Sundays, evenings and mornings. They report to my credit and harass me.

Stay away from them; they are another corporate monster getting rich again, then dumping you.

Brandie of Hegins, PA February 5, 2008

I refinanced my mortgage with HSBC in June 2006. Everything was great; I never missed a payment until July of 2007. I was 3 days past my due date when a man from HSBC called and wanted a payment. Fine, I agreed to a check over the phone. I thought that was all. The payment was taken out of my account and applied to another person's account. I have proof the payment was made from my bank. Less then 24 hours after that payment another withdrawal was requested from my account. This time in my name. It over withdrew the account, and they sent me a letter stating this. Now as far as I could see my payment was made.

I tried contacting many people and got the same department. They told me to send my proof of payment into the research department. I did. They found I did not make the payment even though I had bank proof it was taken out of my account. I had an attorney look at this, and only after 6 months he was able to get my payment back. They refunded the money, and I made the payment back to them. In the meantime I accrued several hundred dollars worth of late fees of which they still want me to pay, not to mention they have reported I was late on my mortgage several times on my credit report making it impossible to refinance with another company. They told me today there is no proof they credited me with the payment ,and I need to send that proof into them as well--all over a payment I made but they lost. This company has been a headache ever since.

Mary of Roxboro, NC February 4, 2008

I was under hardship and wanted to pay off this credit card, but they told me that they have no hardship program; but they put me on a repayment schedule of 50.00 a month. Then I started getting five to six phone calls a day, and I explained to the non-English speaking peoples that I had made payment arrangements, but they did not seem to care. So I stopped answering the phone, and now several months later I get a letter from collections.

I called the number listed and spoke to Karen Scott who verbally abused me, coerced me into making another payment agreement for more money and harassed me treating me like a dead beat. I was the one calling to find out what happened with my original agreement, which she did not seem to care about. These people are scam artists, and I cannot wait to pay them off.

I am having trouble sleeping at night, and I am physically exhausted with all of the harassing phone calls.

Andre of Columbus, GA February 4, 2008

My husband who is and has been deployed to Iraq, signed up for a mastercard from this company with a 29.99% interest rate. I have supporting documentation requesting via fax and mail to have the company discontinue this card, dating back months. They continue to access a 30.00 late fee when we have not used the card since June 2007! I have attempted to request a written agreement allowing me to only pay for what we owe! The amount for our balance is not what we have purchased; it includes months of late fees because they will not shut this account down and send me our payoff! When I call, I'm told I cannot handle my husband's affairs since he is primary on the account. This company demands I send in the same Power of Attorney I have faxed over several times with successful transmissions and mailed to them!

I think this is legalized loan sharking, and they keep accessing the late fees to up the balance! I explained that my husband did this and was unaware of the interest rate, and we want this account discontinued. I do owe this company 110.00 and that's the amount I am willing to pay! Please look into this matter for me. This matter has worried my husband physically while he is deployed to Iraq! It's also damaging my husband's credit!

Julie of Dallas, TX February 4, 2008

This is the 2nd year that I have filed my taxes through a company dealing with HSBC. They hold my check every year stating that I have a previous debt with them. HSBC is a total SCAM. They have gotten a total of 2000.00 from me. They deduct the money you supposedly owe them from your IRS check.
