The driver of this Toyota was severely injured when neither front nor side airbags deployed.

Pernitha of Los Angeles, CA April 29, 2009

On Friday, April 24, 2009, I was involved in an accident in which a car made an illegal left turn against a red arrow, causing me to crash into the car. Neither the drivers side nor the passenger side airbag deployed. The car is a 2002 Toyota Camery SE that I purchased in 2003.

Jeanne of Merritt Island, FL April 27, 2009

8/23/04 - Driving my NEW 2004 Toyota Solara when a car pulled out in front of me. Upon impact my airbag did not deploy, my seatbelt did not engage and my seat slammed into the dashboard. I had the car to the dealer twice to have the seatbelts repaired. My mechanic, Gene, assured me that the seatbelt would work if I stopped fast enough. Wrong - it didn't. I have lost my job due to medical problems. Suffered severe back injury, seizures, etc. Permanent brain damage. Too many injuries to list. The nightmare goes on and on. Toyota did not stand behind their product!

Charlotte of Dallas, TX April 21, 2009

Air bag failure in a 2004 4Runner Sport. Front collision with a semi-truck and car was totalled from front end damage. Toyota refused to send field investigator out and stated air bags would only deploy if engine came through the dash and it an uneven impact. Concussion and neck strain and shoulder injury from seat belt. I don't know if this is the way it shoudl be but I would not buy another Toyota due to their rude response and failure to investigate.

Lori of West Palm Beach FL (03/24/09)
I was involved in an accident on 3-15-09. I was hit on the passenger front. I was hit so hard that the car ended up on a curb 4 lines over. While on the phone with 911, after the car came to a rest, the airbag deployed. I feel that the airbag did not work properly, when it did deploy it did not deploy fully. My question is, why did this not go off when I was hit? Was this another defect with a toyota? and when it did deploy was it supose to deploy fully?

Tim of Fort Thomas, KY February 23, 2009

Tim of Fort Thomas KY (02/23/09)
My wife and I were driving our 2006 Toyota Sienna LE one day and the Airbag Sensor started to flash on the instrument guages. We called Toyota service that instant and were told to bring the Sienna in for service. After diagnosing the problem, (Airbag Sensor in driver's seat) we were told that they had to order and install a new Airbag Sensor which was located in the driver seat. At that point, the service department turned the Airbag Sensor off. When the part came in, we returned the Sienna to Toyota for service. After the service was complete, we took possession of the van. On the way home (which is approximately 30 miles away) the back of the driver's seat popped off.

When we arrived home, I examined the seat back and noticed that the clips were present; however, the grabber(s)on the seat back had been broken. The very next day, we call Toyota to let them know what had happened and spoke to Jaime. He said the next time we come in for an oil change to talk with him and the service department would take care of the seat back. So, the time arrives for the routine oil change and to fix the seat and we take it in. Upon recieving the Sienna, we noticed that once again the back of the seat popped off again. I observed it and this time they tried to glue it back on. A FINE EXAMPLE OF A POORLY RUN SERVICE DEPARTMENT.

We alerted Toyota Service Department and were told to bring it in a third time that they would take care of it. At this point, my wife and I are totally frustrated. We decided to wait a couple of months to take it back in, but we did on a routine oil change and brake job. This time they not only didn't fix it, they said the we would have to split the cost 50/50 with Toyota because our 36,000 mile warranty was up. THIS ISSUE WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BACK WAS NOT ONLY CAUSED BY A POOR SERVICE DEPARTMENT, BUT NOW IT IS HALF MY PROBLEM BECAUSE OF POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP.

On 2/20/09 I called the Toyota Service Department to speak with the Service Director Dave. I had to leave him a detailed voicemail. This is Monday 2/23/09 at 4:00 est. time and still no response. I also have an extended warranty with this van. I have had 2 Camry's, this Sienna van and recommend my 79 year old grandmother to Toyota to purchase her Sienna. I don't know if I will ever buy a Toyota again because of this experience.

In an accident that cause almost 10,000 worth of damage. Other driver hit me in the front side and slammed me in the curb. Airbag did NOT inflate and seat belt did NOT lock up. This accident was over ten (10) days ago and I am still in and out of the hospital due to injuries sustained in this accident.
