The driver of this Toyota was severely injured when neither front nor side airbags deployed.

Ed of Oklahoma City, OK August 25, 2009

A red light runner crashed into the left side of my 2007 Prius in the drivers side door at approx 15 mph. The Side impact SRS curtain airbag on the driver side did not deploy. I had to crawl out of the passenger side because there was no way I could get out of drivers side

Genelle of Ridgecrest, CA August 21, 2009

Aug 19th my daughter, Marianna was driving home from work traveling down E. Drummond st. As she drove around and out of the swooping turn her front left tire blew out causing her to spin out of control! Failing to steer the car straight, she jumped the curb and slammed head on into the concrete barriers aside the road( her speed was estimated @ 43mph ).

Upon impact her safety belt failed to lock throwing her into the steering wheel, then the second safety device had also failed..the airbags never deployed! She was taken to the hospital that evening and released the next morning with no major injuries yet found. She is in a lot of pain ( chest ).

This event was horrific for my daughter and we are so thankful it was not fatal. However the thought of this happening to someone else with a different more tragic outcome is very unsettling. I wish to seek legal counsel/advise on this matter. If there are other similar models out there with the same vehicular defects it needs to be brought to the attention of the manufacturer and the owners of their products.

I was in a wreck in my 2001 Toyota Camry on 8/17/09. I didn't see the stop light and T-boned an SUV. My airbag didn't deploy. I asked at the toyota body shop where it was towed. They said that there are two sensors on each end of the bumper and that both sensors had to have been hit in order for the airbag to deploy. The sensor on the driver's side can be seen when looking at the car. I was travelling maybe 20 or 25 mph. You would think the airbag would have worked.

The air-bag warning light started come on my 2005 Toyota Matrix about 2 years ago, and the warning light went off if I re-started the engine. I brought the car to the Toyota dealer for a repair on 2007, but they could not find any problems with the air-bag system. My car already had over 36,000 miles on it, and since the bumper-to-bumper warranty was no longer available, I had to pay for the diagnosis out of my pocket. The warning light still came on and off occasionally.

In March 2008, I had an accident when I lost the control of the car during the snowstorm, and hit the fire hydrant directly. The car sustained a frontal damage, but the airbag did not deployed at the time of the incident. It cost my insurance about 9000 for the repairs. I suspected that there must be an issue with the air-bag system, and I contacted Toyota Customer service if the power train warranty would cover for a faulted air-bag system. They replied with "No" answer.

I had another accident in April of this year when I hit the deer on the highway. The car sustained another frontal damage, but once again, the airbag did not deployed at all. It cost my insurance about 4000 to repair. My air-bag warning lights started to showing up again recently, and it goes away if I re-started the engine again.

I strongly believe that there is a fundamental issue with Toyota's air-bag system, and it really need to make a national recall on their vehicles.

I was involved in an automobile accident on 7-16-09. I ran into the back of the vehicle in front of me at 45 mph which was stopped in traffic. The airbag did not deploy upon impact. I was lucky to have walked away from the accident with whip lash and a bruised kidney. I think I should be compensated at least for the price of the airbag which failed to protect me.

Holly of Londonderry, NH July 16, 2009

I hit a car that was parked in the road to let a family of ducks cross the road. I was going about 40 mph and had my twin 6mos boys with me. Much to my surprise, my air bags never went off and i suffered whiplash and hit my mouth on the stearing wheel. When i called toyota, they had nothing to say!! THIS IS BS. I dont feel safe at all in this car.

I am amazed at all the complaints about faulty air bags in Toyota's! I too have a similar story, except that this has happened in 3 accidents! About 4 years ago, my 2003 Toyota Tacoma was involved in a collision on black ice with damage over 16,000.00. No air bag deployed. Three months ago, I was involved in a collision when going 20 mph. and no air bag deployed. Just last Friday, someone left a parked car on the interstate with no hazzard lights and I hit it at 40-45 mph. Again, no air bag deployed. I sustained whiplash and bruises on arms, legs, and my jaw. I am applauled to think that Toyota has done nothing to correct this problem or to make it right with those who have suffered this experience.

Barbara of Manitowoc, WI June 21, 2009

I was driving my 2009 Toyota Matrix S eastbound on a city street going 25 MPH, the posted limit. A motorcycle, traveling northbound on the cross street at approximately 60 MPH blew through a yield sign, no braking applied, and broadsided my car on the rear passenger side of my 2009 Matrix S. The force of the impact spun my Matrix 180 degrees. Thus my car was now facing westbound and there is tremendous damage to my passenger side of the car.

The curtain airbags deployed on the passenger side of the Matrix. However, the driver's side curtain airbags nor my frontal airbags deployed.

Because the side-curtain airbags failed to deploy on the driver's side, my head hit the handle on the roof of the car above the drive's side door. I also received a sever contusion on my left shoulder because of the impact. I have a minor head injury which the ER docs are watching. My left shoulder is extremely swollen and painful and I developed a lump at the point of impact on my shoulder that was the size of an egg. Ice Ice Ice. Of course the other driver had no insurance, and no license to drive a motorcycle. As far as I know, he is still alive.

Kim of Murrieta, CA May 16, 2009

I was traveling east bound on the (210) Frwy at 2pm in the express lane. I own a 2005 Toyota Corola with less than 33,000 on it. I could see ahead that cars were slowing down so I took my foot off the gas and applied the brakes slowly. When I could tell that I was running out of space applied the brakes harder. I have tires two months old. Trying hard not to touch the car in front of me and keep control, the car behind me, and hit me at more than 65mph. Hers was also a Toyota Camery. Nither car's air bags deployed.

Amazinglly, her baby in the back seat didn't even wake up. The grill was wrecked and probably the bumper. My car the rear bumper poped out on both sides, jammed the trunk lid shut and dented both sides "C"piller, But NO airbags. It all happened so fast, I think the safty belts worked, and my 76 y.o. Mom were not hurt. At this point who knows, but it is concerning.

Brandy of Shelbyville, IN May 7, 2009

My boyfriend and I were involved in a 4 car chain reaction accident on April 30th, 2009. We were completely stopped and a car struck us in the rear end traveling about 50 mph. Thus we struck a car infront of us. There is over 11,000 damaged to our 2006 Toyota 4Runner. Damage is severe to the back and front of the truck. Neither airbag deployed when we hit the car infront of us, and my, the passenger, seatbelt did not lock up. Thus I struck the windshield, dash, and ended up on the floor with my seatbelt still partially around me. I have injuries to my neck and shoulder due to the "Safety" Equiptment not working.
