Disastrous account creation experience with Aeroplan. No matter with which device we used- Android, Apple, Chrome... it keeps running into issues. This is not customer friendly and a complete waste of time. Very annoying.

I have used Aeroplan in the past for spectacular flight deals but not the case anymore. 12 hours with stops for a four hour flight, 27 hours with stops for a 10 hour flight? What are you thinking. What a shame that Aeroplan has gone the way of other loyalty programs, in essence wanting to do away with what was a fair and easy way to use points. I hope you all come to your senses but I no longer will search your site.

An Aeroplan award ticket is relatively expensive, even in the low season. The program has been getting worse and worthless since Air Canada bought it. There is no competition in Canada, and Air Canada is the leading airline, with the help of taxpayer money, run by unprofessional staff, with poor customer service, and bad management. Aeroplan doesn't have a value anymore.

I am extremely disappointed with Aeroplan’s customer service. Without any warning, notification, or explanation, my Aeroplan account was deactivated. I only discovered the issue when I tried to log in and couldn't access my account. There was no email or message sent beforehand to inform me of any issues or give me a chance to resolve anything — it was simply shut down. When I reached out to customer service, I encountered long wait times and unhelpful responses. The representatives I spoke with were either unaware of the reason for the deactivation or unwilling to share any details. I was bounced around with no clear resolution or timeline. For a loyalty program that claims to value its members, this experience felt disrespectful and careless. I had points in my account, and now I don’t even know if I’ll be able to recover them. The lack of communication and transparency is unacceptable.

I recently booked a flight using Aeroplan points on a route that is serviced by Air Canada and partner airlines such as United. When I needed to cancel (or change) the booking, I discovered that it costs $250 to cancel and $100 to change. My partner had booked on the same flight using United miles and was able to return his booking for a complete refund of points and money from United, and NO fee. When I called to ask about this, the customer service rep was rude and condescending. I'm so disappointed in Air Canada and Aeroplan, and I intend to cancel my account.

Missing points all the time. Buy a ticket during a bonus points sale, nope, you'll have to argue to get them applied. Book with one airline ie Air Canada but for Lufthansa flight, nope, your points won't be applied. Create a claim, 1 year and still arguing with those pricks. It's clear at this point that the goal is to frustrate you into giving up.

As part of my premium credit card privileges I received companion pass for Economy class. When I made a reservation using the companion pass, Air Canada after a month of the booking changed the flight itinerary, to that I decided to cancel my flight. All good up to this point. I checked my eligibility of cancellation and damn, full refund and reinstatement of my companion pass. Received email confirmation as well. However, upon cancelling and receiving my refund, I am still chasing for reinstatement of my unused companion pass between Aeroplan and Air Canada. Customer service very politely asked me to file a claim and wait for a decision. What a damn scam, with all confirmation and record on email, now they are stating probably my pass has expired. If that was been communicated to me before cancellation I would have probably thought twice before executing my decision. Did this ever happen to you? If not, be aware

I was getting ready to purchase a ticket using my points with Aeroplan. After trying to sign in, I found out that my account has been frozen. I Call the customer service number that was provided I opted for someone to call me back because there was a long wait, it took about half a day to call me back. That being said at this point I thought they will ask me some questions verify who solve the issue, unfreeze my account and we would be done. However the person told me that my account has been frozen level two and they cannot unfreeze it, I asked what was the reason, she stated she did not know. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she said it will have to stay on hold for 1 hour to get to a supervisor.

She continued by saying all I have to do is send an email with a copy of my picture ID and that is the only way my account will be unfrozen. She gave me an email address. I sent that email and Four days later I still have no response and no access to buy my ticket. I called customer service again and The same thing, I waited for a callback that I waited for half a day, the rep could not do anything, could not help in any way. I asked to speak to a supervisor. She stated it will be at least 15 minutes. I said, "I’ll wait." Five minutes later the same rep comes back and states, "I just spoke with a supervisor and he can not do anything to help you."

The truth is I myself I’m thinking about changing my plans and going with a different airline. If I had the horrible experience with something that’s simple what would’ve happened if it was something a little bit more serious like losing my luggage having to change a flight for any reason. Aeroplan and Air Canada are entities that I will never refer or advise anybody to deal with.

I redeemed Aeroplan points for gift cards two weeks ago, and I’m extremely disappointed with the service. Despite the redemption being confirmed, I was told it’s still under processing and will take an additional 2–4 weeks. This timeline is unacceptable, especially during events like Black Friday and Boxing Day when these gift cards would be most useful.

To make matters worse, they mentioned the cards would be shipped via Canada Post, which has been on strike for nearly a month. This means my cards will be further delayed, likely by months, as they’ll sit in a backlog. When I asked for alternatives, such as cancelling the order or receiving virtual cards, I was told neither option was possible. This lack of flexibility and poor planning shows how unreliable Aeroplan is. I’ve since cancelled my account and switched to Air Miles, which offers better service. I’d strongly advise staying away from Aeroplan—it’s a frustrating and outdated loyalty program.

My Aeroplan account has been hacked 3 times in the last year. Each time my points have been very close to being cleaned out. I have followed through with changing passwords etc. as they have asked but it still gets hacked. The 3rd time I was told it would take 55 days to reinstate my points and after talking to a manager they said it would be 5 days. It has been 3 weeks and they claim the representative said it may be done by the end of the week that I called. They will not go back and check the call. I feel the service is poor and this benefit is a security risk.

I found this company to be absolutely terrible! I transferred American Chase points in order to purchase a flight on Air Canada. To start there was no currency conversion (I should have asked that question when I called). I could not buy the ticket with my new points! I had to buy a gift card in order to do so. They did not have one for the full amount of my points. I was stuck with $160 only to be used on there site. Tried to use the remainder a few months later and they cancelled my order and deactivated my account! I sent in paperwork they said I needed. Weeks later and 2 phone calls it is still not instated. The last supervisor I spoke with was rude, condescending, and she raised her voice! Both times I was on hold for over 30 minutes and told they could only email the other department, no phone conversations. I will probably never see my money, but you can bet that I will never use them again and I will warn anyone and everyone of my experience!

I earned over 100,000 EDQ in 2023, spent over 50,000 CAD on my Aeroplan credit card and was patiently waiting to receive my 25k status. I waited until end of January 2024 because I learned the IT was pretty slow when it comes to updating status. I wrote them an email late January 2024, followed up in February by email, called Air Canada customer service, was redirected to Aeroplan customer service, they told me to email the same email I emailed previously. Followed up in March, never got a reply.

I know the 25k status is not a big deal but I've spent lot's of $ and flew only with Air Canada always taking flex/comfort fares over basic and this is how I get rewarded. Feels like I got scammed. Unless you fly at least once per month and verify every month your points balance, (EDQ, SQM, etc) I DON'T recommend Aeroplan at all.

We were attracted to the Chase/Aeroplan card late last year by the travel rewards. We had not heard of Aeroplan before but felt reassured by the association with Chase as card operator. We have used the card almost exclusively, spending several thousand dollars a month. In December, we were told because we were outside Canada, Aeroplan needed documents to confirm our identity and residence. I emailed those to the address specified. Aeroplan said our travel credits could not be accessed until our ID documents were approved. But it would take 5-6 months to complete.

I have called three times with long waits in February, March and April. All they would tell me is we had to wait for our ID docs to be approved. On my most recent call, the agent said the documents had to be sent to different addresses and the wait would be 6-8 weeks, but that the backlog was at Nov. 30, meaning a probable 4.5 months wait. The email to one of the addresses came back as undeliverable. And then I was told our account was blocked and could not receive any points until the "security" documents were approved.

We were particularly devastated because of needing the rewards for upcoming travel to visit family overseas. Perhaps most disappointing is that Chase was unwilling to do anything at all to help. A supervisor said Chase was only the card operator and even though the card is titled "chase.com/aeroplan," we were at the mercy of Aeroplan and Chase would do nothing to assist us. Aeroplan is clearly operating a scam that Chase is profiting from and is complicit in. If anyone can initiate a class action lawsuit, we would be eager to participate.

Aeroplan used to be a great rewards program but ever since they “improved” it last year; it sucks. Gone are the days when you could get a long haul anywhere in North America for 25,000 points, now you’re lucky to get a short haul flight for 60,000 points, and even then, the “taxes and fees” will be more than if you bought the ticket outright from another airline. Nice job sir Canada (you took something great and destroyed it). 0/10. Don’t waste your money, you can buy tickets cheaper on competitor airlines than what a “free” flight will cost you with Aeroplan. It’s a total scam now.

I tried to book an Air Canada flight using my Aeroplan Account. When I tried to log in, it said my account was deactivated and I needed to call the helpline. There were no other options to get help, no email options, no live chat, nothing. I called the helpline every day for 9 days until I was finally able to get through. Each time I called it said they were too busy with calls and I needed to call back at a different time. Finally after 9 days I managed to get through and ask for a call back. I got the call back 4 hours later. I told the customer service person my account was deactivated. She said it's a new security feature because they flag suspicious looking accounts. She said I needed to email a utility bill to a certain email address to prove my address.

I asked how long that would take. She said right now their customer service department that answers emails was dealing with any emails that came in June, so it would be a while until they reached the November emails to follow up. She said I could book my flight and then hold onto my boarding pass and confirmation and add my Aeroplan points later. So I got off the phone and looked for a utility bill. Unfortunately I live in the country, and my power bill has my legal land description on it, not my mailing address, and my internet bill is Starlink and has a latitude and longitude location on it, not my mailing address. Those are the only two utility bills I have because we have a well and propane.

All my bills come to my email address, they are not mailed to me anymore (not for many years now), so it doesn't matter that they don't use my mailing address anymore. So I can't send Aeroplan a utility bill with my mailing address on it. I could try to call them back and let them know, but I have a feeling it would take another 9 days to get through, and I also feel like the person on the other line would not have a solution for me. VERY FRUSTRATED and will not be using Aeroplan anymore and will not be saying nice things about it anywhere.

Even with the 2 for 1 deal their points redemption is 33% more expensive than purchasing tickets for cash. Example: Flight to Fort Lauderdale quoted at $558, while points equivalent was $742 (32,000 points @ $633 purchase price + $109 cash) a 33% premium! Even the low season, low days or redeye flights Aeroplan recommended still cost 33% more via points than cash. The Aeroplan agent said I purchased them so might as well use them. Aeroplan is the absolute WORST rewards program. Every single time I have tried to redeem pts, they put a lock on my account. Despite having entered my password on their redemption site, entering an emailed code (2-step verification), they still claim Air Canada has put a hold on redemptions. NOTE: they do this when they offer a "deal" on reduced points needed for rewards. To clear the hold, they need 10 business days...so the redemption "deal" period is passed.

If you try to call Aeroplan customer service, they just put you through to Air Canada customer service. However, you can't get through to Air Canada because they have an automated response saying "they have a large number of calls at the moment" and then you are disconnected. I HATE Aeroplan and Air Canada and wish we can do something about this.
