I have five cars and I’ve been with Discount Tire for at least 15 years. I will never buy anything from this organization again. I was riding my motorcycle and had a rear tire that desperately needed air. Discount Tire refused to give me air for my tire and sent me off in a very dangerous journey to try and find air some place else. I will never go to a place that treats its customers this way or anybody else in a time of need for something as simple as air that they have an abundance of.

I bought two tires from Discount Tire in Fredericksburg, Virginia and made the appointment for installation. I live over an hour from the closest Discount Tire but had good prior experiences near Richmond, Virginia so I made the over two hour round trip. I wrote in the instructions the valve stem was leaking and needed to be replaced. When I arrived and inquired about the valve stem the promise of replacement was reiterated. I was told this was a normal part of tire replacement at Discount Tire. The tires were installed efficiently and I was on my way in less than an hour. Next morning the new tire was visibly low. I looked and discovered one of the two valve stems had been replaced but one had not. The leaking valve stem was NOT replaced as promised despite very specific instructions requesting it be replaced.

I called and received the apology you would expect along with promises to make the repair first thing in the morning. I made sure the customer service representative on the phone knew the mistake and knew I was making a two hour round trip. I made another first of the day appointment to replace the valve stem and made the hour trip to the shop.

The efficiency of the shop was gone. I was the first customer there at opening but somehow this very routine replacement for a failed repair fell behind the technicians in the bay discussing their events of the previous night and leaving my truck unrepaired for over 45 minutes. I watched through the showroom window as my tire was taken off my truck and set to the side with no repair being made while the three technicians talked and laughed and then moved on to another car. Finally at the 45 minute mark I called the Discount Tire 800 number to lodge my complaint. I then walked to the desk and pointed through the glass window to my truck sitting there waiting for the promised quick repair while the technicians were gathered together having another personal conversation. I knew it was personal because I walked out and stood at the bay door behind my truck and listened.

The manager tried to hand me off to another service advisor but I made my point. The techs scattered when spoken to by the manager and the repair was made just prior the one hour mark. I made the 1 hour drive back home and went to check the air pressure. The valve stem had been replaced but no valve stem cap was installed. Easy enough to remedy but just plain sloppy. I cannot believe the manager did not follow up on the repair in the shop knowing the shop had failed to make the installation correct the first time.

Having two tires replaced at Discount Tire required two trips and a minor finishing touch ( valve stem cap) made by me. No doubt I passed by more than a dozen other tire shops to be a customer of Discount Tire. The next day the manager called me. I thought this was a positive turn of events. I was wrong. He offered two free tires which I did not need. Therefore, I declined. I suggested since he had my credit card information that he make an adjustment that he thought was fair for the inconvenience and sloppy follow up.

I have waited for more than 10 days and no adjustment has been made. I guess the manager of Discount Tire on Plank Road in Fredericksburg, Virginia thinks not delivering on promises made the first time and then failing to manage the staff of the facility and then failing to follow up with an adjustment to the invoice is the right thing to do. It is not!

Over the years I have made many of my friends and family aware of my satisfaction with Discount Tire in Chester, Virginia and other locations. I am now on a campaign to let them know my recent experiences with Discount Tire has completely changed my opinion. There is no reason to go out of your way to spend your money at Discount Tire. The opposite is true. Go to another chain which delivers on their promises and values your time. Management sets the culture of business and can have the highest impact on customer retention. Discount Tire on Plank Road in Fredericksburg has a culture of very poor inspection of their work, making and failing to keep promises, and failing to follow through after becoming aware of their failures to deliver.

Took my daughter's car in while she was on leave and she has satin black bbs wheels, she had low miles on tires so we asked to keep them and place in car, she wanted more aggressive tires, she arrived home and no tires and noticed two major circular scratches on 2 wheels on one side, they were deep and large. Called shop instantly and they asked for pics as they were closing and not to return, sent them and daughter had to drive to base in Co. so I called Monday as this was a Saturday.

They said never got email so I repeated and sent multiple times and this went on, as I spoke to manager over this he stated never got pics but mentioned after looking at them he said it was a employee did not use right item to mount. I asked why he said he never looked at pics but then he said oh I meant most likely, he lied. Another employee said they will not replace wheels that cost 2 grand each and sue us. Mentioned spoiled military getting discount and complaining, was in shock after 45 years of using them.. Disgusting.

I usually visit to Discount Tire store. Just depends on what part of town I’m in. Both locations are in San Antonio, and the first location is on 281 N. I stopped in for a tire rotation, And they broke one of the Lugnuts. They had a contract with brake check to replace the lug nut. Brake check did a good job, but as a walk in I had to wait 2 1/2 hours. The second location is closer to my home. The location is on Nacogdoches Rd., and I went in just for tire pressure. The tire pressure on my car is 33/35. They pumped the tires and set my pressure @ 38/40. I understand pumping a little extra air during cold season, tire pressure tester vary, but 5 PSI over is way too much. My car has a tire pressure monitor, so when I got home I went to adjust the tire pressure. The attendant never replaced the tire stem caps on the passenger side. They just lost a $1200 sale over two dollars worth of stem cabs.

So disappointing... I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars at the Discount Tire in Henderson, NV. off of Windmill Parkway and have been a loyal customer for decades. Recently, something went missing in my vehicle when I got it serviced and I noticed it the same day. I called to make a complaint and the front desk rep at this certain location had a behavior like I was lying or I was making a ridiculous claim. Wow. That will be the last time I ever step foot in their establishment ever again for not taking theft from a customer by their staff with any kind of action. What a jerk. Apparently, he approves of this type of staff behavior. Beware people.

I have been doing business with this company for 30 years in various locations. I realize Discount Tire is extremely busy, especially on a Saturday afternoon. Oh, I know that we can all get online, find the tires we need, schedule an appointment ahead of time, however, I was out running errands and decided to pop in to this establishment to ask some questions and schedule that appointment. Most of us older folks like talking to a real live person. I stood in line for 15 minutes looking right at the technician at the counter and have that technician wait on the other customers that came in behind me. This is poor customer service. The technician could have said, “sir I will be right with you”. He found every reason to stay on the computer and wait on additional customers instead of waiting on me. I don’t know why. I did take a bath that day and comb my hair, haha!

This company just lost a huge sale. Being a car guy I know a lot of people that need tires for their vehicles. I will be passing on to my Friends, do not go to this Discount Tire shop in McKinney Texas at 380 and 75. Two other technicians came in from the shop to help other customers who were waiting to pick up their vehicles, then went back out into the shop. Two technicians sitting at the counter on computers were just talking. I don’t understand the disregard and lack of courtesy with this younger generation.

I had the worst experience at the Discount Tire at 7620 Hwy 90A, Sugar Land TX. I took my car in for a simple nail fix, but I ended up spending $1030.00 dollars on 4 new tires. Two of my rims were damaged in the process of installation of the new tires. I went back immediately to complain about the damaged rims and was offered a $55.00 refund or leave my rim there and they will send it off for repair. I did not have time to search for a repair shop so I left my 1 of the rims there for them to repair. I asked how long it would take, John the store manager said 2-3 days. Fast forward, it took 2 weeks, they sent the rim off for repair, but it came back in poor quality, and therefore it was sent back out again.

I literally had to call the store every other day to inquiry when it would be ready. No one at the store call to apologize for the delay or told me the truth of what really happened that cause the repair to take forever. The only time they followed up with the repair shop was when I called to inquiry when the rim would be ready to be install back on my car. Every time I call the Discount Tire store, they always promised to call me back and not once the entire 2 weeks did anyone ever called me once. I called the store the entire time, customer service was the worst, and the store staff was not apologetic for damaging my rims.

They made me feel like I was an inconvenience for them, when they were the ones at fault, and should have been making it right for me from the start. I don't know what happened with my rim that took so long to get repair, and I do feel that the truth was not provided to me. Now I have another damaged rim, which I have to repair myself and spend more money. What a freaking nightmare, I should have just repaired the darn nail and left that day and not purchased tires from there. Please do not go there unless you want your rims to get damaged. Their employees are not trained properly to install tires without damaging rims. I highly do not recommend this store.

My first review on Discount Tire was them selling me tires that were defective and would not replace them at no charge. The manufacturer Yokohama at the time said they would cover 78% of what I paid for the tires. After my review given on ConsumerAffairs, Yokohama called Discount Tire and they agreed to cover 80% and Discount Tire agreed to cover the 20%. This resulted in a 100% refund which is what is deserved considering the amount I paid for defective tires. I got new tires on today, but I went with Michelin.

Original Review: Sept. 21, 2022

Discount tire sold me 4 new tires 5 months ago. 2 of the tires have chunks coming off and overall just falling apart. Discount tire will not replace them. They called the tire manufacturer “Yokohama“ and they will cover a percentage. Discount tire calls me back and they want me to pay over $200 to put 2 new tires of the same brand on. I already paid $1,036.35 so I don’t see why I should have to pay anything for defective manufacturer tires. Discount tires sells this brand so they should discount it down to zero whatever the manufacturer does not cover. They sell their product so they should honor these defective tires. At this point I’m driving my vehicle with children in it and it’s a safety hazard. We could get killed from a tire blowout and I can’t afford any more tires.

I have done business with Discount Tire off and on nearly 40 years and NEVER have been disappointed but have decided since, I'll not go anywhere else. Just today, I went in, to this store (Loop 323 Tyler) with my low tire pressure light issue other than low pressure. One of the young men ended up having to reset the sensors at no cost to me. I had gone in expecting to find out I had a damaged TPMS unit (previously had found out they all checked good) and spend at least $50 - $70. The people who work for (and have worked for) Discount Tire have always been extremely courteous. They treat their customers as they would want to be treated. Thank you, Discount Tire for always being there when I needed Tire replacement/repair.

By the way everyone, they do stand by their tire warranties. Several years ago, I had a tire on my car which ended up with a broken belt, ready to buy a new one because I had rolled out all the warranty. As it turned out I had two tires that way and they replaced both of them for the cost of the tire warranty ($6 those days). The tires were 35,000-mile tires and I had just finished those miles on those tires. Best deal I ever got. If anyone is looking for a reliable place to get their tires, you can't go wrong with Discount Tire! Trust me!

I do most of my transactions at the branch in Lake City, Florida as they seem to have the best customer service out of the different locations I have been in. 98% of the time they will honor the warranty you can purchase with the purchase of the tires. I have had to use my warranty multiple times to get tires replaced. It is hit or miss on whether it is covered (depending on which CSR (Customer Service Rep) you get). They do take a while to get the job done which isn't always a bad thing as they do take the time to compare the stats (pros/cons) of each brand tire they have in stock and they can get for you.

The primary issue I have encountered through them is that they will quote you a time period and then take double that to get the actual job done. If you go here, make sure you allot yourself at least 1-2 hours to be waiting. Start to finish. On the other hand, staff is very friendly/professional and clean (appearance). The office/lobby is clean and tidy. I feel comfortable letting my toddler roam around because it is clean, spacious and nothing for him to get into.

I found a set of tires. They say they will bet any one by 5%. This is not true. I have been getting tires from them on South Church St since they opened. 12 different cars, I bought full sets and they always matched or beat or even gave me a better tire but I guess this year is tight for them because it brought my estimate in, they wouldn’t even match it. They wouldn’t give me a better tire, they wouldn’t even do their advertisement beat by 5%.

I called corporate, no response. After all the issues I had with their tires you think they give me a better deal, like dry root tires. I got new, a few where good but I do get 2 different sets that where dry rotted, didn’t say anything because still under warranty. They even lost one of my rims but after a few weeks they found one not exact same but they replaced but they don’t tell the truth on everything. I found out so am going have to go somewhere else. I got the impression that they were making enough money and beaten my price by 5% as they advertise, now I can’t say for all this Discount Tires but the one on South Church St in Murfreesboro they were very good when 1st opened but all new guys guessing, do you have a to much Business than they need so I’ll be taking my vehicles to another tire shop for now on.

I had to go 4 additional times just to get my tires properly installed. The first 3 times, the team was unable (for some strange reason) to install them properly causing my tires to lose pressure. I called the regional office (Trevor) and he said, in the 1st call I made, that he would figure out a way to compensate for the 4 trips I had to do.... I called a second time to follow up.... I called a 3rd time and nothing happened. I was under the assumption that the products and services you offer are not just cheap but convenient, and taking time out of my work, my wife's work, in multiple occasions to just do what your team is supposed to do, is distant from convenient. And the fact that your team (including the regional office) is made aware of, and can't simply follow up! Is outrageous.

I went to Discount Tire to purchase a set of tires for my 1958 Corvette but since I was there anyway I figured I would buy a tire for my 2011 Dodge Ram and get three Tire Pressure Sensors (TPI's) replaced. One TPI worked perfect, one TPI did not work at all and the other two TPI's only worked for about 15 minutes after starting the truck. I talked to a salesman by the name of Gregg who told me he had a set of General Grabber Tires that only had 3K miles and that he would sell them to me for less than half of what they would run brand new, and he would replace all four TPI's at $240.00. I specifically asked Gregg if the tires had any plugs in them and he replied, "they are just like brand new with no plugs with less than 3K miles on them".

When driving to work the next day, two of the brand new TPI's that were working stopped working after 15 minutes just like they did before they were replaced. Of course, the TPI that was working still was and the TPI that was not working at all, was working. When I got to work, I looked at one of the tires and noticed a plug in one of the tires. (I only looked at one tire.) I don't see how two brand new TPI's would failed after 15 minutes just like the old ones did unless they did not replace them and only replaced the one bad TPI. As far as the plug, Gregg either lied to me, was incompetent or both.

Didn't realize until a few hours later the difference. Reviewing the receipt a $25 per tire "certificate for refund" was added to the invoice without ever being offered or accepted. Called the Okemos location and was advised that "generally" they offer the certificate and "most people" accept the certificate. Of course it's typically accepted because they do not tell people about it - they simply add it to the invoice. They apologize and offer to refund this; which I accepted.

My question is - how may other people have been charged this amount and never had the certificate explained? My guess is multiple. Additionally, this is printed right on the invoice: https://www.discounttire.com/customer-service/certificates. Did not discuss certificates. That clearly indicates that they were added without the consumer's knowledge. Then they proceeded to tell me there was a 2 hour wait. There were no other cars in the parking lot at this time other than my Tacoma. I’m a firm believer that because I got upset over being forgotten they were sending me a message. Will I go back again, I think not, would you?
