Ordered a sofa on 9/8, delivery was supposed to be on 9/10, then 9/11, as of now, 9/12, no sofa. Calls to their customer service department was truly an exercise in futility. Actually worse than futility. They refused to do anything about the continued failed deliveries. They would not call the delivery company. They refused my request to escalate to a Manager, they basically gave the run-around and did NOTHING for me. You DO NOT want this kind of service! There is no way to fix a problem when things go wrong. They even refused to cancel the purchase! Can you believe that???

I bought a sofa, 4 swivel gliders, and 2 ottomans from big lots. I have these on my deck and I bought custom covers for them which were not cheap. I am now having to trash them because of how much they are breaking and coming apart. This is so disappointing as I have contacted them online as well as the store. I understand the store has a 30 day return policy but when you spend over 2000 and keep your furniture covered it should not do this. I feel they should stand by their product.

I drove one-hour to the closest Big Lots store. I was going to buy my daughter furniture for her new house. When we got to the store, we had walked through looking at every set available in the store. She had finally decided on the set she wanted, and we went to Department desk. The employer was very nice and informed us that there was an online discount for furniture. He stated that we could order online and save 20%. He also asked if they were a Big Lots rewards member. They had stated no and he said, "If you go online and apply you would receive an instant 15% promo code as well." We asked if we could use that coupon with the online 20% off. He said that we could, one was a coupon, and one was a sale. So, we drove back home which like I said was a hour drive. While in the car my daughter had applied and sure enough they got a coupon for 15% off a welcome coupon.

When we arrived home, we sat down and added the three items they wanted to the cart. All items stated available for pick up in the store we were just at. So, we said that's ok the drive won't be so bad since we are saving so much money on the transaction. Now with that being said I usually don't use coupons and I never order online but my daughter does! I would have rather just paid full price and then left with the items, but my daughter insisted I don't waste money that I didn't have to. She said, "I am willing to wait since you're doing something nice for me." So go back to adding the items to the cart. They were added. All said available for pick up. I then gave her my Big Lots credit card and she entered all of my info in and proceeded to check out. An error came up and stated that there was a problem with the card. I then called the Store Credit card number, and they said I had enough credit to make purchase and my balance was $0.

They told me to try again, and the same thing happened. I then said I will just use my Visa card! That credit card line of credit was $10000.00 with nothing owed on it. So, I tried again, and it still said error. "There was an error processing your payment please reach out to financial company." So, after that I was very upset! This is the first review I have ever made publicly about any company! I work for a company, and I know that everyone has a bad experience and sometimes things happen! But after speaking to the Big Lots Customer care I have decided that what they are doing is illegal and I will see to it that this stops. I know that Covid has had major effects on companies, but false advertisement and misrepresentation are illegal.

When I called My Big Lots Credit Card company today they told me that my transaction was in fact pending. They then advised me to call Big Lots Customer care and ask when my order would be ready for pick up. So that's exactly what I did. I called and they told me that was my credit card had insufficient funds. I replied back, "That's a lie. I had just got off the phone with the Big lots credit card company and they stated that the transaction was pending." The lady on the phone said, "Well I'm sorry but that's not what it shows on our end." I then replied, "Well then why didn't the other card go through?" She stated, "Well there was insufficient funds on that card as well." I almost died laughing. I said, "Well you're wrong" and I even went as far as offering to send in the income availability form to them directly and that they could look up the other. Her response was even better this time!!

She stated, "Well actually the furniture was just not available." I stated, "Well why did you say it was due to insufficient funds." She said, "Well that's what it shows first then it also shows that the furniture wasn't available." I said, "OK well I just left the store an hour ago, and they stated that they had 3 sets in stock! I wasn't getting it delivered and I was picking up, so I know for a fact it was in stock because the store was closing in 5 minutes, and they had three sets in stock when I walked out. So, you're telling me they sold three sets in 5 minutes???" She then started stumbling over her words and I said, "Ok enough is enough. I would like to speak to your manager!"

I do not appreciate lies and deceit from anyone especially a company who relies on Customer Service! I sat on hold forever after requesting to speak to a manger and she kept coming back and placing me on hold stating that "Someone will just have to call you back because there is just no manager available to speak to you right now." I will be contacting the BBB and the Attorney Gerneral's office. Let's just say still no call back and my daughter still has no furniture, this mother is not going to let this go! Not this time not after all of that crazinesssssss.

All they said was they can not help and you go to the store and purchase when it is not in the store..I can not understand anyone that answers the phone and they are the worst ..I will never shop in their store again and I recommend that no one orders online ..They are the worst people and store in the world and I do not recommend.

I ordered online. I requested my purchase to be delivered to my residence. The company that was to deliver was a company called KHM. We were supposed to receive our sectional on Saturday May 27th. We had an issue with the online transaction and when I went and fixed it, it changed the delivery to Monday the 29th. On Monday we received a text that there was a delay on delivery. We finally got an update that it would be delivered on Thursday June 1st, between 10-2. At 8 pm we received a call from Big Lots that our order was going to be cancelled because it had not been picked up!!

After 2 on that Thursday we received a text that it would be arriving between 2-4! Then again a text for 4-6pm. I called the store and chatted with Kerri about the situation. Thank goodness for her or Big Lots would have lost our business. It wasn’t Big Lots' issue. It was the company that was responsible for the pickup. Kerri gave me a number for another company A-Team 850-316-1906. Within two hours my sectional was set up in my Livingroom!!!

Big Lots sold me furniture they'd received complaints about, but did not reveal that information to me. Upon me receiving the furniture, I returned it because the delivery company could not properly put it together. I requested a refund for the furniture and the delivery fee. After almost a month, Big Lots maintained that they were not responsible for the fee I had to pay the delivery company to return the furniture. I even submitted a complaint online through the BBB, but they still refused to reimburse me.

I ordered replacement cushions online at Big Lots for an outdoor sofa. I do not know the name of the sofa I have, but I found some cushions they sell, and I thought they may fit. I ordered them and paid for them. I did not copy the confirmation number when I placed the order because I figured they would email me the receipt and the delivery info, etc. They did not, and the cushions arrived on my porch. They did not fit my couch. I contacted the email on the card in the box. They told me to contact store. I already had. I contacted customer service. They want confirmation number or receipt in order to return.

I am disputing charges with CC company. I am responsible to provide paperwork they did not give in order to get a refund for cushions I cannot use. They are unable to locate my order?? How did they ship it and charge it?? It seems bizarre to me and shady. I will never shop there again. I have 3 e mails with customer service plus one phone call. I stopped into the local store, and a couple emails with the customer service place I guess with the shipping company. They tell me to return to store.

I placed an online order on April 5th. It consisted of many sale items at a 25% discount. I was very pleased and excited to get such a great deal. WRONG. Yesterday (April 6th) I was charged $5.27. No big deal. I let it go and thought "it'll drop off". Today, I was charged $116.23!! I immediately panicked and called my bank to shut off my card thinking someone was using my card. Nope. Bank confirmed it was from the same store I purchased from. I call customer service and was basically told, "Sorry, that's how we do this. We charge THE FULL AMOUNT," not what I agreed to pay. I told her I've never heard of such a thing.

Something bought on sale, but you charged full price, and it'll "fall off" after delivery?! Are you kidding me? Please tell me this is not true. How can a big business run a sale, then charge you full price? Great way to lose customers. I explained to her that, "It's not acceptable and I want my money back today." I also asked for a corporate number to call because I assume corporate would never approve this. If this is how Big Lots run their business, I'll take mine elsewhere.

So Big Lots goes through a third party delivery service, which would be fine if they actually did their job. Firstly, I ordered a sectional couch on Saturday night. It was eligible for same day shipping, which I would suspect to receive by Monday. I received the couch on Tuesday. On the website it says same day delivery is 7 days a week. When I called and asked about this, the reply I got was that I didn't see the fine fine print saying that's not true. The delivery people BROKE the couch in front of me, didn't say anything, and then ran out without even saying goodbye. I called the delivery people as soon as they left and they claimed to not speak English and not understand me. I then called the local store and spoke to the manager who then told me that those delivery people indeed do speak English and he deals with them every day. He was very nice and couldn't help us but was very sympathetic.

I then called customer support and someone named Austin was trying to help me solve the issue by bringing me a new couch and picking up the old one as soon as possible. An important detail is that the couch was so severely broken, it had nails sticking out of the corner. I have a 1 year old child who plays in the living room so it was extremely unsafe. Austin reassured me that because of my circumstances, it's on the top of their priority list. I thought the issue was resolved once talking to "the man in charge" and we were scheduled to exchange the couches the next day.

Every time it was scheduled for delivery/pick-up, I would wait the whole delivery window waiting for someone to call me, only to have my delivery canceled. Over and over again. This happened on and off for 4 days. I would call multiple times during this time and only get generic answers and no one could ever get ahold of the delivery company. I had to cancel plans, take extra long lunch breaks at work to be home for the delivery windows, and anxiety levels were high. On Friday, I reached out to the store manager again, who originally told us he couldn't help without corporate, and told him I would tip him $100 to come get the broken couch. At this point I didn't even want the new one and I just wanted a refund.

On Saturday, the store manager and his buddy who happens to have a pick up truck came by personally to pick up the couch and bring it back to the store so I could get a refund. I would also like to add that on Saturday morning before we had help, we received yet another cancelation message. Of course after I took care of it myself, Big Lots went the extra mile saying someone was currently on the way. I told them there was no need, I was tired of waiting for them and paid my own delivery team to have the couch returned. Still waiting for the refund to go back into my account... Not worth all the stress and getting the runaround from everyone in the company. I will not be ordering from Big Lots again and I will be sharing my experience with anyone who even thinks about it.

None of them have followed up and some have given me false names and phone numbers. They have right-out lied to me. One even tried to tell me that an attempt to deliver the item was made. I've been sick and haven't left the house for 4 months. I have cameras all around my house and no one came to my house. I was so shocked to find out how many people Big Lots have done this to.

I have read Email after Email people trying to get items, they paid for online. There is a complaint page for Big Lots shoppers I wish I had found it before I purchased a sectional and paid close to 3,000. for it. I wanted the matching recliner. They were out of stock and told me I could get it online. I can't understand why they don't put in another order and send my recliner. I just purchased a bed mattress and desk from Wayfair. If you're looking at buying furniture via Big Lots, don't. I placed an order online for a couch + two chairs, thought it was a great deal since they were running a sale, and was excited that they had a quick delivery option (we have folks coming in town for Christmas and wanted to get our living room ready for company). Card was charged with no issue, delivery was set for today, and then surprise it was canceled this afternoon.

Their support team told me that the order was automatically assigned to a store for fulfillment and that the store didn't actually have those in stock, and recommended I just try to place the order again (but no way to confirm I'd ACTUALLY get what I ordered), so I requested a supervisor (I don't like to pull that card, but this was one of those situations). They offered to give me an additional discount and place the order over the phone w/ confirmation that the store they were assigning it to had them in stock. In the middle of us placing the order with them over the phone... Oh yeah they actually don't have one of those items in stock (a chair) so we can't do that. At which point I just told them to forget it, even with an extra discount it's not worth the run-around and I have no trust I'd actually get the order. Support staff was friendly, not their fault that the infrastructure is shoddy and the company has bad business practices.

The next day, they delivered the nightstand, and three sides of the bed. The dresser and footboard did not arrive and Big Lots doesn't have one. What can I do with part of a bed? To top it off, they double charged me for the nightstand. Now I am trying to get my money back and Customer Support can't help. The Big Lots reward program is very deceiving. Their system is emailing subscribers tens of email with different titles, but in fact with very little window to fit into the requirements. Their marketing system is sending out tens of emails with different offers, and when trying to use them at the store at the checkout, for some reason, none of them works.

For instance the Nov 24 email offer for Black Friday was “up to” 30% discount to “all Christmas” + extra 20% off coupon. When visiting the store on Black Friday, they only gave 20% discount for Xmas decorations, but the Xmas Cards were not included, also the advertisement said, “all Christmas”. Big Lot promotes online purchases, but their system is not updated with the inventory at hand. It happened when going to pick up the item after purchasing online, the store did not have it. Or, items that could be found in the store, are not listed on their website. Generally, the site is not very friendly to use. Stores should be cognizant that many of their customers celebrate the Winter Holidays differently. They too deserve to be included in the rewards offer. Let’s make this season inclusive, because the Winter Holidays are not only about Xmas Trees and Lights, but about carrying, and giving back to the community. Currently, Big Lots is all about “taking”, and not giving back.

There were no signs made for the furniture stating they were display chairs so we took them to the front to pay for them. We were told to take them back to the furniture counter where Mary was to help us get the chairs that we could buy! When I approached her she was very rude talking to me about leasing. I was not sure as to what was going on at that moment because my husband was coming over and I thought he had already purchased the chairs. The lady who was helping us spoke very fast and was hard to understand, I heard from her to meet Mary and exchange the chairs. I was trying to explain to Mary that we had already purchased the chairs on our Big Lots card and she continued to be rude and argue with me instead of having customer service and explaining the situation, she continued with an attitude in front of other customers about leasing.

First of all there should be signage on all the furniture to communicate to us customers what is displays! That would help these kind of misunderstanding situations from happening! It was very confusing! We left the Everett Big Lots store not purchasing anything and we will never purchase anything from this store again! We have already purchased furniture from this store a few weeks ago, a king size bed and fireplace! These are big purchases for our family and we were planning on purchasing more! Big Lots in Everett we will never purchase from again! Mary who works at the furniture counter needs to get a different job and not work in customer service! She has disrespected our family and our hard earned money will go towards another furniture store!

Purchased a sectional from Big Lots, within one month the frame broke through the back and the seams on the cushions came apart. I went to file a claim through the extended warranty and they said I had to wait a year for that to kick in, so to file a claim with the store as they had a one-year warranty from date of purchase. I called the store, told them my issue and was told they don't do anything for that. They said they DO NOT RE-ORDER any furniture even for replacement of broken furniture.

I was told I had to call other Big Lots to see if any of them had a replacement couch just sitting around and if they did I had to load up my couch and drive it there to swap it. I called every Big Lots in my STATE and none had it just sitting around and I was told that they wouldn't have one just sitting around as if people order one it is spoken for.

They said my best bet was to wait for the extended warranty to kick in and then file the claim. SO I did exactly that, and it was denied because I should have filed the claim within 5 days of noticing the damage. So I suppose I should have lied about the damage date but I didn't know I was supposed to do that. So here I am with a broken couch with a huge opening in the seams. When people ask where we bought it from I tell the BIG LOTS and to NEVER BUY FROM THERE this has been a mess and a headache and no one seems to EVER be able to help you.

I would give this company -5 stars if it were available. This company seriously needs to be boycotted until somebody in corporate addresses the horrific service within their company!!! I ordered a sectional with ottoman online with same delivery and to make a long story short delivery never showed up, I went to pick up the furniture myself and it was broken! The store did refund the money I spent to rent the truck to pick up the furniture but that is it! I got "sorry sir". These days "sorry" doesn't cut it or isn't enough to compensate me for my time and energy spent trying to simply buy furniture. Corporate is IMPOSSIBLE to contact, nor has any called me back to compensate me for my time and headache! The store managers even said they can't reach corporate to do anything about the broken furniture or the ridiculous delivery service they are using to deliver furniture.

I need to contact the local news channel to do a story about how screwed up this company is and the sheer lack of concern for the future business model of this company! I will no longer support this company until someone from CORPORATE can spend just as much time as I have addressing my issues in trying to mediate their lack of customer care!

I ordered on Friday 3/18/22 and was trying to get a Sunday delivery but system kept saying Saturday. So I got confirmation for Saturday 3/19/22 between 9am-9pm. Then I got a text saying I'd get a text when the delivery team has picked up my order. I could click on the link and see the status of my delivery. I rearranged my schedule and didn't work because I waited on them. I checked & finally at 12:34pm they were just locating a team. I waited for hours still no call. I finally chatted with the help online around 6:00pm & they tell me the dispatch team has no drivers and they can't deliver until Monday. I asked why wasn't I contacted before 6:00pm. He/She claimed they just contacted her to inform them.

BULLCRAP. It was a Saturday night and no one wanted to work. SUNDAY was NEVER offered. The person on the chat kept getting smart with me also saying I could either have them deliver MONDAY or pick another day & there are no guarantees on their window of delivery. So I have to miss work waiting on them between 10-12 pm on MONDAY. When I said I'd be calling Corporate about this, she said I was talking to Corporate. When I said The CEO, she didn't say anything. Before I could screenshot the messages, she deleted the chat conversation and put that the delivery was rescheduled to Monday.

But nothing digital is ever truly deleted. Their IT team can pull it up. So I will be calling Corporate on Monday. So much for a $95.00 charge for same day delivery. I called the store and the guy in furniture kindly gave me the third party delivery phone # to call. But I already know they won't refund my money on delivery fee. I WILL NEVER buy any Furniture from them again.

It was a floor model so it was disgusting and there was a burn mark. I have never been so mad at a store before or even had this many issues. I do not recommend ever going to big lots. With the pandemic in place I would think Big lots a trusted company would have policies and procedures in place to prevent this from happening.

I did contact the store and also called your customer complaint line. The chair has been in my home for 2 weeks now with no resolution. I eventually spoke with the store manager. These chairs are still at my home. He showed no remorse, never said an apology for this happening to me and my family and putting us at risk. Are there procedures in place with Big lots to ensure this does not happen to customers? The pandemic is still going on. I just lost my mother on November the 3rd 2021 from covid 19. Why put families at risk? Unbelievable!

Please do yourself a favor and do not buy furniture through Big Lots. For $700 after tax and a protection plan added, and driving 2 hours round trip to a store that actually had one in stock, I expected the dresser I bought to meet a minimum quality standard. It did not. Issues:

-The legs are made out of some sort of sorry cheap wood - not nice hardwood, not metal, not even ABS plastic - nothing that can handle the weight of the dresser. One of them split apart while we were tightening the leg to the bottom! Come to realize it was because there was a giant knot in the wood piece! Had to do a quick glue together, tape for stability, drive the end farther into the wood and go to town to find longer screws....another unnecessary added cost. When we finally got them on, the legs could not even handle the weight of the dresser to be tipped over and another leg started to bust out! We had to manhandle it to lean on the bed and then drop it as straight down as we could on the legs. I don't have high hopes that the legs will remain steady - figure at some point I'll awake to a crash in the middle of the night from it collapsing.

    - There are defects in the veneer on the front. Two places I could see where it's warped, and nicks here and there. Not happy about that.

    - There was tape all over the inside of the drawers, I guess from where they were cutting and didn't want the cheap pressed wood to rip but I'm honestly not sure. Material also isn't steady - there's definitely give in the bottom.

    - On the bottom (your) lefthand drawer, there is some sort of paper catching on the inside of the dresser. Guess someone forgot it while it was being assembled. No way to get it out, the bottom is closed in and I can't reach it from inside the dresser.... irritating, to say the least.

    - Some drawers do not sit flush with the face of the dresser. I didn't buy this thing sight unseen - I went and looked at one before I bought it. No issues with the floor model, but of course there are with mine.

    - Their online service incorrectly indicated that the store I picked the unit up from had 0 in stock. Because of that, I could not order online and receive a 15% discount.

I tried calling customer service to no avail. Sent an email detailing the above, making it clear that the packaging was already ripped up beyond use when I got home with it and I couldn't use it to return. Asked for the 15% discount I should have been able to receive at the bare minimum. 2The "customer service" representative responded with a copied/pasted message about returns and issued me a 20% off coupon for my next purchase. She could not even be bothered to read my message about the packaging materials or to try to get replacement legs for me at least. Some of the sorriest customer service I've had the displeasure of experiencing.

My husband bought a bed frame from Big Lots and it was infested with bed bugs. I took pictures of the skins and eggs and live ones crawling around. Called an exterminator and he said it very well came from this bed frame because of the amount of infestation in the frame itself and due to the fact that it was the only new thing brought into the house. We hadn't traveled anywhere and we hadn't had any company come over and spend the night or even visit. We just moved to this area and we don't know anybody. Now they want to take 30 to 60 days to do a total investigation before they render their decision on helping us with fumigation and the replacement of the box spring and mattress that we had to throw away and the reimbursement of the bed frame.

So now my husband, my grandson and myself are all sleeping in the living room with our bedroom doors taped off hoping and praying that they don't crawl through the walls and migrate out into the living room where we're at because then our house will become uninhabitable. Right now we're living just off my husband's disability because I recently had back surgery and we cannot afford this extermination process. Very disappointed in you Big Lots.

When my order was marked as ready to be picked up, I drove there to get it. The clerk in the furniture section came out and loaded the mattress along with some pictures on my vehicle. I was parked right at the front door. My boyfriend went in to buy rope and went past a employee saying, "Her card didn't go through" and they started panicking and ran outside.

The clerk then addressed me differently agitated and told me he had to get everything off my vehicle. My payment didn't go through. I was dumbfounded. I asked why. He said I needed to go discuss it with my bank. He made sure there was other employees standing out there watching as he got the stuff off my car. This was embarrassing and the fact that when it said my bed my ready, I threw away my old mattress. So I went home and called my bank, guess what? The payment was on hold. I then accessed Big Lots online help chat and they told me not to worry that the money would be refunded within 2 to three business days. I didn't want to go without a bed so four day later I bought a cheaper bed from somewhere else.

Ten days later I check my account and it says my items are ready to be picked up still. I was furious. I again accessed chat who then gave me a case number. I believe I waited a whole 15 days to receive 1000 dollars back into my account. This is not right. I always loved shopping at Big Lots but I felt so downgraded and like my issue didn't matter. I just wanted this to be out there. They need a new process in ordering furniture. I would not have thrown my bed out if it wasn't ready and the fact that my payment did go through and I was treated like that is the topping to it all.

I have shopped many times at this store. Lately, when my husband and I go in this store, we are being followed around the store like they think we are going to steal something. My husband and I pay for everything we buy in your store. He has normally gone with me when he gets off of work and is still wearing his work clothes. My husband owns a construction business and he has paint or dirt or something from work on his clothes. Just because he has that on his clothes doesn't mean he or I will steal anything. It means he has a job and has the money to buy anything he wants, but maybe we need to spend that money elsewhere.

It is horrible to be followed around by 3 or 4 of your employees just because they have no clue that a shoplifter is not going to look like they work because their only job is shoplifting and you can't get dirty doing that. I sometimes go help my husband work, so I might look like I just left a construction site. He remodels houses, so I go clean or paint or help install trim and fixtures. We are very insulted. I filled out their complaint form and they never even bothered to acknowledge that they received it, so I guess corporate doesn't care that someone who spends a lot of money in their stores won't be spending any money in their stores anymore. The first time they followed us around, we laughed. But when it has been 4 times in a row that we are followed, we have had enough.

I have tried multiple times to order a new chair, and the order has been canceled multiple times. Today, I placed another order and it was again canceled. I called the "customer service" department today to ask about possibly placing my order from another location. Before I could even ask anything, the woman was already telling me they couldn't do anything. I asked to speak to her manager as the call progressed, but she refused to allow me to speak to anyone else. Had she not been so rude and actually listened to my concerns, the call may have ended differently.

I will now caution anyone and everyone from purchasing anything from Big Lots. Your order will either be canceled multiple times (conveniently during their sales I might add) and your refund will not take place for 5 business days, or you'll get stuck talking to a customer service rep who has no idea what that position even entails. I'd like to also add the email cancellation states "Rest assured you will not be charged for the canceled items", which could be construed a couple ways. To say that I'm unsatisfied is an understatement. I wish I wasn't stuck TRYING to purchase something from this retailer.

I ordered a dining set to pick up in store on 12/8 at 10:00am. Was told I'd receive an email confirmation when it was ready to pick up. The full amount was withdrawn from my account at 10:02am. At 1:00, still no email confirming neither the purchase, order number or pick up details. I called the store and was told that many orders came in and an email would only be sent if and when the table was ready. It was 'normal' not to receive a purchase confirmation email. By 6:00 that evening, still no email. I did a live chat with Big Lots corporate who was able to pull my order via email and told that the order was cancelled. I explained that not only had I not received any emails regarding anything, let alone a cancellation, but that the money has been taken from my account. The rep said that the money is taken to 'reserve' the product (store policy) and depending on my bank, it could take 5 days to go 'back in'.

I demanded this information in writing and and immediate deposit of the full amount back into my account as I have no table, order number from not getting any email confirmations and an apparent cancelled order. The rep said that this was store policy and there was nothing she could do. She also told me that I need to call the store before ordering anything online from Big Lots because they don't have control over what is in the inventory in the store. I asked what's the point of taking my money to reserve an item that was stated as 'available' online in a store if none of that is accurate. She simply stated that there was nothing she could do.

It is now 8:30am the next day and I have yet to receive a single email of purchase, cancellation or my money back. I understand there can be some confusion between online and instore purchases, but this is ridiculous. Big Lots needs to refund the money IMMEDIATELY when they are unable to fill an order and COMMUNICATE all information. Completely ridiculous.

They could not give me my discount because it said " already used" on the incomplete online order so I ended up paying $300 more. Next online order I paid for a 5 piece dining set. I was supposed to pick it up next day. It was suddenly changed to a 3 piece set but the price I paid was NOT changed. I was on the phone to Big Lots for over an hour and they basically said I would have to pay extra for the missing chairs.

I even have a screen shot of the price and description showing it was a 5 piece set that is time and date stamped and corresponds to the time I placed the order. Note again I will lose my discounts because it says "already used" on an incomplete order. Big lots is totally unwilling to help you. Made no offer other than to help them not me. I knew it would be throw away furniture when I bought it but what I didn't realize is how badly my body would hurt from sitting in it! I am literally not able to sit in the recliner for more than a few minutes as the back is concave and the headrest is so overstuffed (like the arms, 'sides' of the footrest and the sides of the chair) that it pushes my head forward and hurts my neck.

I have muscle pains in my neck and pain in my back after 15 minutes. When I switch to the couch, the cushions start to sag and they are not able to be turned over because only one side of the cushions are usable! The furniture LOOKS great and I only needed the pieces for one year so I thought "why not"? Why not? Because I am miserable sitting in both of them, therefore, I have nowhere to sit and I'm out $600!!! BUT the people who work at the store were very pleasant! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Spend the extra $400 and buy one really decent piece of furniture you can take with you when you move!

I told her that other stores were selling theirs, and she checked, discovered the item was discontinued, and said she’d sell it. I just needed to come in and pay for it and they’d box it up for me.

My car was in the shop. She wouldn’t take my payment over the phone or hold the item for a few days even though she had originally planned to hold it until the next Friday. She refused to give me her name or the name of the district manager. She gave me the wrong number for customer service. When I found the right customer service number, I was told again that policy prevented them from holding an item for me. A supervisor never returned my call. Enter my boyfriend. He called the same Big Lots and told them he wanted to purchase the item. They told him they’d box it up and he could pick it up anytime. Just like that, not a single hassle. They boxed it up. Beware of buying furniture from Big Lots. We found out the hard way. Do not make the same mistake we did and buy any furniture from them. Big lots does not stand behind the furniture they sell. Neither does the company that they buy their furniture from. The delivery service that they set up their customers with does not stand behind their service.

I am going to start in the middle of the story because it only makes big lots look worse. We purchased a recliner from big lots and they arranged to have it delivered to us the next day. We had no contact with the delivery service until they arrived. Big lots made all the arrangements. When the chair came out of the box upon delivery, 3 screws were missing from the bottom of the recliner. The delivery company found 2 of the screws and put them back in the chair. They got 1 screw they had in their truck and put it in. They called the store manager at big lots and had her on speaker phone and explained the whole situation with the chair. They told her we would be calling back more than likely. She was rude and said, "I bet they will." As soon as they left we did call the store manager and tell her we could not accept this chair. She argued with me and said they did not know if they would take care of the return and redelivery.

I called their corporate office the next day to complain and they said it would be taken care of. About an hour later I got a call from the manager and she changed her story and said they would pick it up. It took 2 weeks for that to happen. About 2 days later we saw that the chair had put 2 gouges and a long scratch on our laminate floor. We were later to find out that the chair had been dropped on the side that had the damage and the metal frame of the chair did the damage to the floor when the delivery people tried to close the chair after seeing if the screws were holding. They took a video of it and it shows exactly how it happened with the metal frame of chair rubbing floor. We filed a claim with big lots for the lowest estimate which was $3130.00.

The furniture manufacturer said big lots would pay the claim not them because big lots dropped it and that is how it got damaged. They said big lots should of never tried to force us to take the chair. It should of been brought back immediately. Big lots said they would not pay the claim, we needed to go after the delivery company they set up all their furniture deliveries in our area with. The delivery company is saying big lots is at fault. The store manager was always in control and the blame lies with big lots. We have had to pay thousands of dollars out of our pocket to replace the floor. Please dont make the same mistake we did. Big lots is self insured and they will not stand behind what they sell. Neither will they stand behind the delivery service they set up for you. The manufacturer of the furniture will not either. Beware.

I was looking for new curtains. I had a certain style and color in mind. I had shopped online and was now checking local stores. Luckily, I went to Ollie's before Big Lots. Ollie's had good quality curtain panels for $10.00, Waverly and others. Big Lots had brands I did not recognize for $25. Ollie's sheers were $6.99. Of course, I bought them. Big Lots? $10. I noticed Big Lots lovely Broyhill sectional sofa when I walked in but I also noticed a coffee table with the set that severely needed dusting.

Of course, the shelves in Big Lots contain many types of items. They are crowded together, not neatly arranged as you would see in a large chain store be it department store or grocery store. Both Ollie's and Big Lots are selling closeout items. But Big Lots suddenly thinks that it is an upscale department store. The problem with this is the dusty coffee table and, on another occasion, the things that I asked the store worker for that they don't carry as would be done in normal chain stores. They only carry what you have been able to buy as closeout lots.

Back to the prices. I looked at my brand of cat food at Big Lots. It was as much as any major grocery store, more than some. It is not as if their store is well decorated and carrying designer products. They usually don't. Of course, you will find Broyhill Naples collection furniture at Big Lots but if you go to Broyhill and click on it, it will lead you back to Big Lots. They are the only sellers of this collection. Does this mean that this is a bad collection? Certainly not but it means that this Broyhill is a closeout lot or a super low priced set from Broyhill sold only to Big Lots. Big Lots Google listed states "Big Lots! Live BIG. Save LOTS." That is completely untrue. Overall, Big Lot's is pretty much a cheap store now trying to masquerade as an expensive department store. I will not shop at Big Lots again but I will keep checking back with Ollie's. I have gotten some really amazing deals on quality products at Ollie's.

We inquired about the sign as did a few other customers. She said since the signs are up we should get the discount and to let them know up front she said it was alright. Well... Keith turned a question about a discount into a situation then escalated it to where I was now upset enough to change my 5 star review to a 1 star. He yelled when I told him she said it was ok. He said loudly and abruptly, "I am above her, I am not giving it to you. I extended the discount for the last three days in this store, and I am not giving it to you today."

The cashier kept telling me she was sorry. She should not have to apologize for her boss. I don't deserve to be treated in such a way. I worked in customer relations for a long time and I know you don't treat customers in this manner. Whatever happened to customer service training??? What I don't agree with is that all the money I have already paid is of no use, cause they still charge interest on the full amount and not on the balance owed. Is this legal? It says balance paid off by May 27th but I get paid on the 30th. Is there a grace period?

If I could give them no stars I would. I’m so angry and frustrated at my experience today I’m ready to cancel my credit card and never shop there again. I purchased a sofa with the assurance that it would be there when I picked it up the following day. The sofa was not there and then was told it was at another location 40 miles away. I drove to the location and they didn’t have it either. Said they sold it and they don’t sell floor models so there’s nothing they could do. Literally they have kids as managers, they have attitudes and do nothing to help you. Didn’t offer to help me look for a different one or anything. Just said sorry. I’ve wasted my time and gas, borrowed someone’s truck for this, and gave my furniture away so I have nothing to sit on. This is unacceptable and I will never do business there again.

When I purchased this mattress I saved my money because I wanted to buy a good mattress. So I did my research and went to different places and checked the prices and checked the firmness of them. I wanted a Serta sleeper. I decided on Big Lots. I purchased the mattress and box spring for about $850.00. I got the mattress home and couldn't wait to get to bed that night. All night I kept climbing out of this hole. I took the bed apart thinking that maybe the frame might have not been put together correctly.

Again I'm climbing out of this hole. I called Big Lots and I was told that it takes time to get use to a new bed. Well it's a year and a half later and I have had a platform built under the bed and still I'm climbing up out of this hole. I'm convinced that this is a refurbished mattress. Normally you have to break in a mattress but this mattress was already broken in and that should be against the law. Now I have to purchase another mattress because now I have back problems.

Weekly payments have been withdraw on time every Friday morning. I went to log on to see how I could get a receipt for my payments since I was coming up on my last week. Just to log on and see the huge balance that was triple what my actual purchase was. Turns out he didn’t explain it correct. My payment of $1,900... has turned into a total of $6,000. Word to the wise don’t electronically sign for something not seen. I was told I would receive an email of the agreement after I signed.

Never would have amounted to the price needed to pay off. Which in turn set me up for 12 months of payments. I called customer service to tell them how confused I was. I’ve already paid every week on time. I’ve given them $1,800 already. Only thing to “fix” the miscommunication was an early buy out payment of $2,000. Which is more than I already paid in total for my furniture. Saying I feel blindsided is an understatement. I was left confused, frustrated and broke. I wouldn’t recommend this at all.

Do not purchase furniture from this retailer. In my opinion Big Lots should get out of the furniture business because they are only stealing from hard-working people. If not they should stand by their product or make the quality better. My stepfather purchased a sofa and recliner set from there. It only lasted a couple of years and when he called to ask that they replace it because surely this was not the norm, they refused. Both pieces started to shed at the same time might I add. He nor his guest can sit on the furniture without it coming off on the clothes. It got so embarrassing that he put a sheet on it. I would love to know if Big Lots check these reviews or not. They can't possibly believe it's ok to take hard working people's money and give them junk. This is an outrage. We knew the furniture was pleather but it should last longer than a couple of years.

I would like to start out by saying that I am a 51 year old ** male that has the disorder/handicap Tourette syndrome. I went to the local Big Lots store in Holbrook New York to get a few items that I needed. I have been to this store many times before but this time I was a little noisier than usual and my Outburst were a little more pronounced bear in mind. Some outburst could be taken as rude or insensitive to younger individuals or certain races if you know what I mean. The words ** & ** did slip out but never directed at anyone in general.

Again this is part of my handicap amongst many other types of outbursts. I was approached by a heavier-set blond haired female. I think she was a manager.

And was told that I am being asked to leave the store because I'm making some of the customers uncomfortable. Now I understand that some people don't or will not understand my infliction but I'm not here to make friends. I'm here just like anybody else to be a patron and purchase what I need. So I apologized and also explained that I have Tourette's and I'm not here to cause any problems. She persisted with being rude and insensitive to insist that I leave. I explained to her that I have no problem with that but if I wanted I also could call the police have a report written and pursue a lawyer. I think I backed her into a corner because she also said she could call the police. I really wish she did because I would have blown this whole situation out of proportion.

I proceeded on purchasing what I already had in my hands and walked out never to pursue anymore of what just happened. I am insulted and utterly appalled on the lack of education and professionalism of these managers. I will never ever patronize another Big Lots for as long as I live. I wouldn't give them a dime of my hard-earned money. But the funny thing is I definitely make more on my job than this manager makes on hers. And I'm the **? Big Lots Corporation should do a little more background on these managers and employees because it's only showing what kind of Corporation they are by who they hire. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Pertinent Information. Sunday 10/14/18 at 12:20 PM. Register 2. Receipt number **. Barcode Number **. “Loyalty Number” #**. Respectfully, I fully expect nothing to come from this. But I feel that I need to express my distaste for Big Lots Store #0117 and their appalling staff and management. Today I went into the West Ashley Big Lots Store #0117 located at 1401 Sam Rittenberg Blvd #15, Charleston, SC 29407. I spent 30 minutes walking around the entire store enjoying viewing the new layout, clean aisles, and holiday items available. By the time I was ready to check out there were several long lines where I waited my turn to check out with my Halloween card and cake mix which should have been a total of $5.59.

A very nice customer let me in front of them while they looked at other store items. The cashier struggled to pause the previous customer's transaction for several minutes before she could switch screens. I asked the cashier for a loyalty card, she signed me up. I had a $20 dollar bill in my hand to cash out. She hit the button for card. I corrected her. She stared off into space until I corrected her again. Then I handed her my $20, she shoved my loyalty card in the bag. Handed me my change and a receipt.

After this she slapped her register closed, jumped off of her spot and a ** brunette that appeared in her late thirties early forties jumped on and started taking customers after me. I walked out of the sliding doors, stopped, looked down to put the receipt and I saw that the cashier shorted me a $10 dollar bill. I originally thought that this was going to be a mild annoyance, I turn around, walk back in within less than a literal minute. I walked up to the cashier. She asked what was wrong and I told her she shorted me a $10. She promptly snapped at me “I know I handed you the change.” I held up the four one dollar bill and spare change with receipt. She told me I had to wait her till was cashed out and that I would have to wait for the manager. I told her I would. Waited. Several minutes went by as I watched her complain about other staff members leaving her at the register alone and disappearing on her to other staff standing there.

A few more minutes pass, at this time I am still waiting as she jumps on another register and rings up more customers. I have now witnessed her touch multiple registers, while the other staff is still ringing up customers with cash on the same register I was helped on. The manager then shows up. Between her and the cashier they don’t know how to check the till for the correct numbers. That I will have to wait for the head of the store “**” because the assistant manager has not been trained to run the register. ** arrives after a 10 minute wait, the new cashier is still ringing up cash deals on the register that I was at. ** takes his time coming in watches several people being rung up. Then takes the till to the back. After a few minutes he comes back and basically calls me a liar. The till is .11 cents over.

When I demand my change, he shrugs and stares at the floor. I cursed, call the cashier a thief and incompetent and demand a refund. I toss the bag on the floor furious. I receive a refund for $5.59. I then asked for “**” manager's name which was ** and asked how I was able to get in contact with him. I was simply told 1-800-Big-Lots.

Sunday 10/14/18 at 12:57 PM. Register 2. Receipt number **. Barcode Number **. “Loyalty Number” #**. Sales Associate **. I am not upset only for the $10. I am upset for being told to wait because even the assistant manager didn’t know how to run a register, that staff were still allowed to cash people out on a register that was incorrect, that I was called a liar because the cashier doesn’t know how to give correct change. She couldn’t give me the correct change what didn’t stop her from giving another customer before or after me a $10 dollar bill over their receipt and I was the one affected. I have worked as a cashier for many years. It is always required to count a fresh till when a shift change occurs. It is ridiculous that this is not a policy at Big Lots

As soon I left in tears, I called the 1 800 number. Explained my story. The lady on the line apologized and said she would send my message to the correct parties, this is a follow up to that incident which my reference number is **. Personally all I want is a check for my $10.00 back. Not a gift card, no coupons just a check for my $10. This has ruined my Sunday. Ruined ever going back into a Big Lots. If you look at the cameras of the registers and the storefront of Big Lots #0117 you will see the exact events happen between the time of Sunday 10/14/18 at 12:20 PM and 12:57 PM. I just want my $10 back, I am very disappointed in the way this was handled and the incompetence and rude behavior of the entire staff. This should be put on ** and the cashier’s record.

After a month or so of a serious runaround with Big Lots Customer service they wanted me to return the damaged couch to the store (over 200.00) to deliver. Now I was being asked to pay again to return a sectional couch!!! I paid 300 to have the crappy couch fixed and would NEVER buy a Simmons product again and I will NEVER buy anything of value more than a trinket from Big Lots! BOTH Companies Suck and the products are junk.

I called 14 min. after I placed the order and realized that another store had it for half the price. I asked for a cancellation of shipment and they would rather ship the item, charge me, have me return the item or decline it when it arrives (as if everyone is home when they deliver) and then return the item for a credit. This is ridiculous. Amazon, Walmart, Target, Kmart, Wayfair, Birch Lane, none of these companies have such bad service as this. I will never buy online from Big Lots again. This is terrible customer service because of their antiquated system.

I asked them if they could just give me the pieces I need. They said I had to bring it back. I have it already out of the box and I cannot get it in my car or back in the box.

The pieces are small and I don't know why they can't just give me the parts out of another box. If I took it back they would still have a box with missing parts. They don't seem to be very cooperative. I have my receipt. And all I want is 4 small pieces. If I got another box, I would make them open it to make sure all the parts are there. I ordered a few things online that totaled over 100 dollars but with the online discount it fell right under and I was charged 11.99 shipping instead of free shipping. I called to see if I could cancel the order or add to it for free shipping and they said... "Nope. It can only be cancelled within 10 minutes of ordering." Even the customer service agent couldn't cancel my order. That said, it was in "processing" status for over a day. One might think it could have been cancelled within 20 minutes of ordering.. but no. I subsequently sent an email and had no response from them. I take responsibility for not rechecking the shipping free after the discount, but disappointed I was unable to cancel at all. I enjoy shopping at Big Lots and have never had a complaint before. We saved up and bought a whole collection of the outdoor wicker-look furniture with bright red cushions. Very pretty. Well after the first month, the red cushions had sun-faded into an ugly, dirty-looking color. Then after the second summer, the resin wicker is all broken apart and just deteriorating so bad. I have had some Plow and Hearth furniture for 15 years that is still perfect. Of course it was more expensive, but worth it I guess.

I am so disappointed that I bought the couch, love seat, ottoman and wicker chair and now the second year it is awful and unsafe to sit or lay on. I called customer service and they said they need the original tags, which I don't have after two years. I guess I just don't want anyone else throwing their money away buying the substandard outdoor furniture. Perhaps if kept on an indoor porch it would be fine though. Now to start saving for better quality outdoor furniture and cushions. This review in no way reflects the workers at Big Lots stores, who are always very nice.

I purchased a Simmons made sectional sofa from Big Lots in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA on 1-21-2017. I began to notice that on the end of the sofa that I sit on (I live by myself) that there was a large sunk in place in the cushion and it would not pop back up when I got up. I called Simmons and they informed me that I should get back in touch with Big Lots that they had a 12 month warranty on the couch. I went to the store with pictures in my phone and spoke with the store manager (who just happened to be the person who sold me the couch). She was very kind and said that I had two options. One was to let them replace that section of the couch and the other was to refund my money (even though she explained that I was almost 2 weeks over the 4 month limit in order to get a full refund). She said that she had the ability to refund my money if that's what I wanted.

I went home and thought about this was a few hours and then called her and stated that I wanted my money back. I returned the couch and was refunded my money on a Credit Card. I lost money on this transaction because I had to pay someone to pick up and return the couch because Big Lots does not deliver or pick up. I am not sure that if I had not purchased this item from the store manager that anyone else would have returned my money. I was never told about the four month thing but I was told that the furniture had a 12 month warranty. My conclusion is that the quality of the Simmons furniture is not good at all and I would not recommend that anyone purchase that brand and especially from Big Lots. Maybe they should consider posting a large sign in their furniture section that says "No money refunded on furniture returned after 4 months". I will still shop there for smaller household items but not ever again for furniture.

Christian was our sales rep and he knew very little of what was to be done. He advised myself, my sister and our father that the stand was sold out and it would be at least two weeks before any additional ones would be in.

He then told us that selling of the display would need to be approved by the manager but he was off. I explained to him that I came in from out of town and wouldn't mind waiting for him to contact the manager for approval. He walks away and returns about 10 minutes later to tell us that he contacted the manager however he's not on call and only works when he's at the store. I then asked him who was in charge when he wasn't in store and he said Sarah **. I asked him would he please grab her and he advised us that she said she was busy and had other tasks that she was responsible for and would not come over.

I bought a large sofa from Big Lots back in 2006 and just put it out for the dump yesterday 2-9-2017. The couch is 11 years old. It has been slept on, feet on it, etc. and the only problem the couch had was that the springs had started wearing out and the cushions sagged. Since the cushions could be removed I just took some pillows from another old couch (because we had two) and placed them under the pillows. But they didn't start sagging until about 5 years later. I am talking about a couch with 11 years on it, countless after countless small children and teenagers sitting on it, and it still held up. I paid 350.00 for that couch.

The one thing I liked was it was made in the USA. I have also bought damaged floor models for cheap and had a friend fix the small issues and never had a problem at all. I have a leather (faux) oversized recliner that we got last year and have never had any problems with it at all. Also bought a broke dual recliner love seat with middle console that charges your cell phones etc., and my friend fixed the small problem and the only issue with that is one of the recliner feet area bent but that was my teen's fault she put her legs to the side of it. Furniture with any amount of wear and tear is going to come apart or tear up... but people up until yesterday still slept on that couch, still sit on it without any complaints etc. so I would say 11 years is pretty darn good... so thanks Big Lots for getting American Made furniture.

The other leg rest was stuck in the upright position. I thought it was just the recliners that were poor quality. So $600 went into the garbage. My Husband suggested that we get one of their 2 piece sectionals. Well the closest Big Lots was out of the one side. We drove to the other side of town to "purchase" it at another Big Lots. We paid the extra to have it delivered. It was just that, delivered. Not cut out of the plastic, not set up... just delivered.

Two months later the cushioning has collapsed because the "S" shaped metal seating that is attached from the back to the front came undone. My Husband ended up just cutting off the entire black undercloth and reconnected it multiple times. We spent $900 for this sectional. When we sit down our knees are at the same level as our chest. We now have blocks underneath to hold up the cushions. We are on a fixed income so until we can recoup the cost we are stuck. Big Lots manager said I has 30 day return policy but I should contact Simmons. Simmons said to return it to Big Lots... Hello, this is a sectional sofa. A friend & I visited the BIG LOTS! store in West Columbia, SC on Black Friday 2016 (yesterday), to purchase Monster High dolls & Fisher-Price Play School toys that were part of the advertised "Buy 2, get 1 FREE" (3 day Sale- includes Monster High, Fisher-Price Play School, Nerf, Hot Wheels, Play-Doh & ALL games & puzzles). I grabbed a sale paper upon arrival & double checked the sale, as well as to see what (if any exclusions) there were. The ad paper in the store was different than the circular in The State newspaper, as far as size; it was a long newspaper like ad with 3-4 pages instead of the typical store circular that's a multipage 11x17" half fold as well listed exclusions. Fisher-Price Play School toys, specifically "Preschool" were listed as the "Buy 2, get 1 FREE", as well as Monster High dolls priced $8- $20.

Once I made way towards the "toy area", most items on sale in that part of the store were placed in the middle of the main aisle with sale signs. I chose all 3 "F-P" toys from 1 of 3 places (an end cap, an entire Isle that was 1/2 "F-P", 1/2 "F-P" knock-off- attached to the end cap, & in the center of the main aisle) with sale signs stating "Fisher-Price Toys Buy 2, get 1 FREE" along with logos of all the brands included in the sale. I chose all 3 (different) Monster High dolls that were priced $8 from 1 of 2 places, (in the aisle along the back wall of the toy section & in the center of the main aisle) with signs stating "Monster High Dolls Buy 2, get 1 FREE" along with logos of all the brands included in the sale.

I continued shopping, browsing other toy sales, when I began having an anxiety attack (I have PTSD, the reason is personal, involving another shopper & wasn't related to staff) & chose to quickly leave. My friend and I headed to the front of the store when 1 of 3 cashiers had only 1 person with 2 items that was in process of being checked out; so she asked did I wanna run thru the line or leave. Since she had only 2 small items (not on sale) & I had 6 (sale items), I said sure. The cashier scanned all 6 of mine quite quickly & gave me the total price of $32 & change I believe. I stated to her that all 6 were "Buy 2, get 1 FREE" & the total seemed incorrect. She very rudely (& continued to be rude throughout the entire transaction/conversation) said, "I don't know anything about that, I do not work that area so what would you like for me to do?"

My friend spoke up & said "Yea, they're supposed to be on sale" & we both said at the same time basically, "They're in the ad." The register was directly right behind the "3 Day Thanksgiving Sale" sign & basket of ads so, I grabbed one. As I opened it to the toys listed & handed it to her, she said again "Do you want me to get a manager?" I didn't answer yes or no but mentioned I have 3 of each, then pointed to each item while counting "1-2-3"; the Monster High dolls in 1 bag & then the "F-P" toys in the 2nd bag. She hesitated going into saying something else while realizing I in fact had 2 of the brands listed on sale & went back to another screen. She looked at the item description & price then back at the ad.

She then says "You have to have 3" so of course I said "Yes & I do, see" & pointed while counting again. She responded by saying it took $1 & something (can't remember exact change amount) & then $3.33 off. I said, "That makes no sense being that all 3 of these (pulling down the bag exposing all 3 "MH" doll boxes) are $8 each", with no response from her after about 2 seconds I added "can you just void it out, I'm sorry I've gotta leave." She told me she would need a manager. On her ear piece, she put the mic to her (while continuing to be rude & if not increasingly, while not grammatically correct, "more" rude) & said "I need a manager to come void a transaction".

Waiting literally 3 seconds she said it again then finally after another 3 seconds says "Hello! If anyone can hear me, I need a manager!" Within about 2-3 minutes of her 1st request a manager comes up & asks what the issue is. I state that the items were to be on the "Buy 2, get 1 FREE" sale, they weren't ringing up correctly & that I would just go to Walmart whenever I could later because I needed to leave & couldn't wait. He voids the transaction & I thanked them both while again saying I was sorry. My friend looked at me & knew I was panicked (my hands were shaking & my entire body was starting to) so she handed her items to the cashier & said "I'm sorry, I really am" & we left.

I was not being rude in any way at all but was clearly trying to leave quickly. On a normal basis I would have asked the manager to see what was going on, given I had in fact grabbed the right toys. I would have also pulled him aside after completing the transaction to inform him about the cashier being very rude, more or less condescending (as I asked my friend later was she being sarcastically polite while being a rude **, or was it just me?), but again I had to get out the door.

I did however call the store today & asked to speak to a store manager, which he said he was. The same older gentleman who voided the transaction yesterday is who I spoke to. He stated he remembered me, ("yea you said you were going to Walmart" to quote him) after I said the approximate time I was in & the issue with the sale. He said had he had more time he would have explained that it takes off a third & ends up the lesser value item is free. I told him I had an emergency that resulted in me having to promptly leave. I then explained what I had, where I got them from in the store (he said he was the one who set up the sale displays including the items in the center main aisle), & for instance all 3 dolls were $8; so the $1 & change plus the $3.33 it took off did not add up.

He explained it takes a third off all items & if I were to return an item, assuming it's the lesser item or not but treated as a lesser value free item, I wouldn't get any money back. I responded that it again made no sense as to what was taken off, (as amount mentioned by the cashier) based solely on the 3 dolls priced $8 each; it wouldn't matter which was free they're all the same price. The $3.33 plus $1 & whatever, even if it was 2 cent short of $2, didn't add to $8 off. He tried to explain again, repeating what he had said about a third off. I said "ok, thank you very much" thus ending the conversation. He said that the cashier was new, not familiar with how to do things but that the sale ended at midnight tonight. I thanked him again & hung up.

I thought that the manager's response & tone was at times also rude & uncalled for. I didn't bother to mention the cashier yesterday due to his attitude wasn't very professional either nor could he produce/explain the issue with the sale & price taken off not reflecting "1 FREE"; as well as ultimately stating "I don't know" in response to it not making sense then using "the only issue" they've had has been 1 customer who grabbed the knock-off play-doh instead of Play-Doh brand play-doh. The comparison was completely irrelevant as I clearly didn't have knock-offs. Needless to say I don't visit Big Lots often & I don't think I will ever again. After not only dealing with a rude cashier but dealing with a manager who I expected to say "come on in, ask for me & I'll work it out"; instead was rather rude himself & was not very helpful at all.

December 2015 my 7 yr old daughter wanted a deluxe Cupcake maker. Much to my surprise and delight I found one at Big Lots in highland square in Inverness FL For $20! She also got an easy bake oven that year so it took a few months before she decided to open it and use the cupcake maker. When she began making the cupcakes they weren't mixing very well and had a weird smell. She informed me that her friend's cupcakes maker batter smelled the same way. So she continued to make the cupcakes. When finished she took a bite and immediately vomited into the kitchen sink. I then noticed that some of the batter packages were dated Jan of 2011 some Feb of 2012. 4 1/2 yrs old these were and had the potential for salmonella poisoning! Very disappointed and angry!!

I always buy the most sturdy and wood furniture so all the beds, couches and rocker recliners I've ever bought from Big Lots have been fine. This time I used same day delivery which was fine. Delivery guy said he could also assemble. Assembly was awful! At least my Alzheimer's Mom slept thru it all. He assembled: small dresser, drawers won't open; assembled kids' desk & chairs, red dents & damage on top of desk; daybed trundle, didn't finish trundle... He was in my home for 6hrs! And wanted to return at 10 am next day to assemble 60' tv stand. I called and informed him I'd already finished bed & tv stand and he didn't need to return. Informed him of dresser drawers not opening, he said it'll just take small adjustment. "No, I'll fix myself." He charged about what Macy's furniture delivery charged but Macy's guys assemble most items outside & are lightning fast and take all the trash.

Whatever happened to the customer is always right? I just finished paying off my new living room set, as told, I gave a month notice, and a 2 week notice. To my surprise when I made my final payment, I was told "you didn't give a notice". I am being told I have to wait 1-2 week for the rest of the Living Room Suite to arrive. I have names and dates, but all of that fell on deaf ears, even called the District Manager, who never even bothered to call me back. The person who answered the phone was rude and told me I needed to wait until all my pieces were there before scheduling delivery (an outside delivery person).

I repeatedly told her, "that's my problem, I did what I was supposed to do", she just kept telling me to wait to have my furniture delivered. Since no one seems to care about customer service, I will just take my money elsewhere, already found a new Living Room Suite, I love even more. I will be making another call to the District Manager to let him know, just exactly how I feel.

This is for Big Lots at 22nd Street Plaza Shopping Center 17w714 W 22nd St, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181-4402. Me & My husband received a gift from a friend bought from the same place and since we wanted to exchange it to something else we visited the place with the item (as it was) and the gift receipt. We let the cashier know that it's a gift and we want the gift receipt. Cashier on duty seems to be a new employee and asked help from another employee (Who said it's gift or whatever it is a receipt). Then the cashier went ahead with the return and handed over a return receipt.

My husband asked the cashier that we can use the receipt as store credit to buy something that we wanted. Then she called the same employee (looked like her supervisor, ** with short hair) who ended up saying NO. She said that your system won't allow them to give us store credit and the return will go back to my friend's credit card and they cannot give us cash. So my husband asked then, "What's the point of giving a gift receipt?" She replied as reason for giving a gift receipt is only then we can return damaged goods with that. I hope she knows how stupid she sounded.

First thing is we never asked for cash as we only wanted to get store credit. Not only that I went through the huge embarrassment of calling my friend to say that we returned the gift, and it will show back in her credit card as a return (I hope you know the feeling if this happens to you). So if the system issue is true (Which I know it is not), please let your customers know about the absurd thing you are doing when they ask for a gift receipt and make sure you tell the process before anybody comes for returns with a gift receipt. Anyways this will be the last time I visited this place and will be the last of many friends I have. I hope you will reply me on this.

She said no she didn't need to yet she was standing around next to the register so I waited in line. I was standing there waiting and the lady at the register told the lady in the pink shirt that the lady at the OTHER register was open. I stood there as she was helping the Hispanic man at register one. She then called to open the restroom for whom so ever. When she was done with the man she flicked me off and told me someone else would help me even though she didn't close the register. She helped the other Hispanic customer yet I am being helped by someone else.

So as I'm leaving I asked, "Is this what this is about? You didn't want to help me because I was too **? You only help the Hispanic customers?" So the Hispanic customers get all in my face calling me names and threatening to jump me. I walk outside of the store to try to see the location so I could find their phone number while Hispanic customers are STILL threatening me and the whole time the employees do not call a manager. I stood in front of the store to see a store code to find a phone number to ask to speak to the manager. I see the employee's ** friend on the phone - she says that she is the manager. I said "Is that you? I'm standing right in front of your store." So I said "I'm right here." So when I tell her the issue she says "I will forward that to the manager." I was online looking at furniture and came across Big Lots. I really never looked at their furniture before. Usually when we go into Big Lots we get bedding (sheets, pillows, etc...) and snacks and other small items. I seen online that they offer leasing with WhyNotLeaseIt. So I filled out the pre-approval form and got an instant reply that I was approved and have X amount to spend and after a year lease we own it. So we went into the Big Lots in Whitehall, PA with the WhyNotLeaseIt approval number and looked at their furniture. We came across a nice set that had 2 recliners on the sofa, 2 recliners on the love seat with a compartment in the middle, and a single reclining chair. So we purchased it on the lease program. We bought the set back in December 2015. The sofa and the loveseat were not in stock anymore but the sales associate said that if we wanted the floor model he would knock off 20% of the whole bill. So we went with that.

We took everything home and have enjoyed them. About 2 months ago we noticed that on the arm of the loveseat it was coming apart and that stuffing was coming out. The same thing happened to the reclining part that you rest your feet on was ripping at the sewn seam. The recliner also was hard to close as if something was jammed in it. So we called up WhyNotLeaseIt and they told me that it would be a manufacture issue and that I should contact the manufacture company or the Big Lots store. So we contacted the Big Lots store and spoke to the furniture manager. He asked that we take pictures of the furniture and stop in.

So a few days later we stopped in and showed him the pics. He couldn't have been more helpful and nice. Not only did he get us a replacement but an upgraded replacement and also not floor models, everything brand new and we didn't have to pay a cent for the upgraded furniture. He said that he would have to order the whole 3 piece set and it would be in in about 1 to 2 weeks. He said he would call when it comes in. So in 10 days after we left there he called us to let us know the set was in and we could pick it up when we get a chance. So we picked it up today August 6th 2016 and no hassles, no trouble. As far as getting a replacement for furniture or anything for that matter this was by far the easiest store I have ever dealt with. I would recommend the Whitehall, PA Big Lots to anyone.

After reading some a lot of the reviews in here, I have to wonder exactly what store do people think they are buying furniture from? Multiple complaints that their 300-700 sofa didn't last very long, fell apart, etc. Only got two years out of it, wasn't made that well and so on. Well guess what... that's what you GET when you spend 299 on a couch or a recliner. You don't get anything better for that kind of money and nobody ever has. Seriously, look at all the known high end furniture brands (Carolina Rustica, Bernhardt, Habersham, Drexel Heritage, Marge Carson and the like). One of their Ottomans will cost more than a thousand. A quality sofa will easily set you back 3 or 4 thousand. You really do get what you pay for. Only a fool would think that their $599 special from Big Lots will last for 10 or 15 years, never fade or wear and be as good as real major brands. It's like buying a Kia and wondering why it isn't made like a Bentley.

On the other hand, most of their stuff is Simmons or Ashley, and most of it is American made, if that matters to you. For the price you really can't beat it and I don't know about all Big Lots, but ours is pretty nice and the people are friendly. We bought all our daughters furniture from there when she got her first apartment and she never had any issues. Of course Big Lots sells lower end furniture, how can this be a shock to anyone? Do you try to buy caviar at K-Mart? If you do, I think I know what the problem is.

On July 11, 2016 I purchased a 14X36 METAL FRAME POOL for $149.99 not including tax. I went home and realized that my HOA did not allow pools. I called Bowie Big Lots on July 12, 2016 and informed them of the situation. They stated that I can return the pool with my receipt and if I didn't have a receipt then I could receive a store credit. Over the past couple of weeks I've spent well over $2500 at this Big Lots store on various items to include large item furniture and they have records to prove it. In other words I was a very loyal customer.

On July 13, 2016 I went into the store to return the item and wasn't able to find the receipt. I spoke with multiple employees who stated that it wasn't a problem. They asked me to place it inside a shopping cart for a full store credit after I speak with the store manager Sheila. I spoke with Sheila and she was very rude. She stated that there was no way possible to obtain a store credit or refund without a receipt. We had a verbal exchange where I told her I would contact the corporate office to get a copy of the receipt since I couldn't find it. She said that it was fine and that I would receive a full refund after I provided the receipt since she couldn't tell if I had purchased the pool over 30 days ago. I reminded her of the numerous times I've been in the store lately buying large item furniture and she stated that it didn't matter because I needed the receipt and would get a refund after it was provided.

I went home and contact corporate. I spoke with Jon and explained the situation. He agreed that there was no problem with the return of the pool with the receipt and then sent me the receipt via email. I then returned to the big lots store with the printed receipt. Sheila was not available so I spoke with the male store manager who was very rude, condescending, and unprofessional. He absolutely refused to accept the return or provide me with a refund. I believe it was because I complained to corporate about the situation and he took advantage of my situation and then refused to return the pool despite my conversation with corporate and my conversation with the store manager Sheila.

I wasted time, money, gas, and this created a lot of stress going back and forth to the store to return an item. The pool is still located in the store yet I have not received a refund. I have proof of the pool at the store and the full receipt. I am extremely displeased and dissatisfied especially given the amount I've personally spent at this store the past few weeks. Highly unacceptable!

He asked the manager and she told him, "They come as a set and I won't sell them." I corrected her and said that is not correct. I bought the same wicker furniture last year and had to buy the cushions separately. Apparently, she didn't like that at all! I also referred to another set in the store that was for sale, also without the cushions. She reminded me over and over again, that she wasn't going to change her mind.

She felt it necessary to show me the ones that I could buy. I explained that I wanted more of the same cushions that I bought last year, and the ones that she showed me didn't match, to which she told me she didn't care. I told her that I would be happy to pay the full price for the new set that she showed me, put that on the display furniture and let me have the ones that I wanted. She told me that I was acting like a little kid that didn't get their way. So, I left the store without any cushions and her parting words to me was, "If you don't like it, contact Big Lots corporate". Well here I am. I had lost my receipt and the manager said he could look it up on the system using the credit card or debit card that was used.

When we returned to the store the next morning with the furniture we were told we needed the receipt because they could not locate it in their system. We went back home, I phoned corporate and they emailed me a copy of the receipt. Calling the Big Lots store back, we were told to come back again with that receipt and when we arrived the manager and the district manager both denied the return. Calling corporate back, I explained the situation and they had me hold while calling the store manager. When the corporate employee returned to the phone I was told we were out of luck and they will not allow a return. Not even an exchange was offered.

The item is still covered under the manufacturer's warranty and they are by law required to accept the return if it is not suitable for use for the purpose it was intended. They still will not accept the return saying that it is not a valid reason. I do believe that discrimination also played a part in this situation of the manager and her unwillingness to honor what we were told by the store's manager the evening before. I decided it wasn't worth the additional money to fix the problem so I kept their mattress for a little less than a year and had to but a new one from a reputable company but by that TIME I was having back issues. Thanks to this bed. I had also purchased a knife set from them and while I was slicing some tough meat the blade broke free from the handle and flew through the air and nearly impaled me! The reason I am writing this review is because I saw some review of a "JOKER" who claimed that these reviews are not real and are just nasty little people putting this poor store down. PS. He even claims he doesn't shop in BIG LOTS! Well anyway I value my time much too much to spend the time to write a review that is false.

On Friday, November 27th I purchased a Wall Mount Fireplace for a total of $128. There was a notice in the store displaying that when you spend $50 you can receive a $10. credit or $20. if you spend $100. The coupon also said that the credit could only be applied to your next purchase starting November 29th but must be accompanied by the bill of sale (which it did). When I tried to turn in the coupon today November 29th as well as the receipt I was told I had to spend another $100. in order to get the $20. credit. Their ad in the store did not mention you had to spend $200. in order to get $20. The first $100. I was given only the coupon... Then today I would have had to spend another $100. to get a $20. credit. This does not make sense as their ad said that you had to spend only $100. False advertising! This is just like a scam.

I usually shop at the Big Lots near my home. Every time I'm in the store I hear on the intercom, "If you find the item at another store of lesser amount, Big Lots will honor the lower price". On Tuesday of this week, I shopped at two Big Lots near my work. At the first Big Lots, I purchase two jars of Lowell's Polish dill pickles at $4.00 per jar (the last two jars on their shelves). At the second Big Lots I found the same jar of Lowell's Polish dill pickles for $2.50. I returned to the store for a refund, but was told by the Manager that Big Lots has no policy regarding price matching and that there is nothing they can do. I find it hard to believe that a company the size of Big Lots has inconsistent store policies.

Today I have totally give up shopping at Big Lots in Southaven, MS. Reason: customer service is not the best in the world in store or their Corporate. This organization must learn that customer service is important no matter how big or how small the business may be so I asked all of my friends, associates and family to do likewise. I will have updates on this in the near future but for now let's join together and send a clear message that we have the power to shop elsewhere.

I recently bought a king Sealy Posturepedic pillowtop mattress. It was fairly soft in the store, but I thought it was just right and would suit comfort needs. When I got home and set it up it seemed as if my side was extremely soft while my husband's side felt like what I had laid on at the store. I couldn't figure it out and thought I was just imagining things, but after a few nights I felt like I was sleeping in a crater (trying to roll uphill when turning in bed) while my husband's side still remained firmer and more comfortable. I had to return this mattress and customer service at Big Lots made the experience very easy, but I did have to repackage and return it the store myself.

Overall, after going to a "real mattress" store to purchase a new mattress we realized that floor models come half soft/half firm so the consumer can fully test the mattress out before purchasing. We think that we must have got a floor model that was never used on the floor because it was new (unopened). Good customer service, but product wasn't what I thought I was purchasing.

I purchased a queen size mattress and box spring yesterday from Big Lots. I brought it home only to find that it was soaking wet as I took the plastic cover off. It smelled horrible and was stained. The store does not do deliveries so I had to rent a truck to haul this... And now I'll have to do that again to take it back. Highly dissatisfied. About a year or so ago I purchased a sectional couch and a recliner. Upon my purchased, the furniture manager told the cashier to make sure that a record was on file. She took all my info but did not give me a card so no record was kept of the transaction was made. The problem now is the fake leather is peeling off both the sectional and the recliner, also the recliner leans to the right side. I went to the store and talked to the manager and he said he has sold 100s of these sets with no problems with any of them. Read other blogs below that customers have had the same problems.

The manager wanted a receipt which should have been recorded on the rewards card but found out she only took my info but never gave me a card. The store wants pictures which is no problem but they also want a receipt which I do not have, and I do not have any accounts there. Had the Manager done his job and the cashier had done what she was told, there would not be a problem now. I have called the Manager to work things out but he wasn't interested. I called BL corporate number but only got underlings. I asked to talk to a CEO or his secretary, I was told I would be contacted on Monday 10/5/15. On Sat 10/3/15 I got a call from a supervisor that did nothing but run me around, I again asked to talk to the CEO or his assistant. I was told the executive office employees do not talk to customers.

It's interesting that the CEO has no problem putting my money and other customers money in his pocket not caring about the money the customer worked hard for. If I cannot get someone in the executive office Monday, I will be filing a court claim in small claims court and will ask for a settlement to buy furniture from Lazyboy or another brand name store that really cares. If any other folks out there want more info please email me at **. Thank you and good luck if you buy furniture from BL it is nothing but trailer furniture. PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM BL AS IN THE END YOU WILL GET IT IN THE REAR END. Thanks Marty ** South Bend, Indiana.

This store is located in Mishawaka, IN in the Miracle Mile Strip mall on the corner of Hickory and East Mckinley. Another Item is I did buy Batteries there on Friday 10/2/15. When I got home I looked at my receipt I found the charge for two packs of batteries then I saw an unauthorized charge for 1.00 dollar to a hospital donation. I called the store and the manager told me to bring the receipt in and they would give me the dollar back. Whether it was a dollar or 10,000 dollars, this is fraud on BL part. Thanks for bearing with me.
