Cycling Sports Group recalls Cannondale Canvas NEO bicycles

Cycling Sports Group of Wilton, Conn., is recalling about 1,270 Cannondale Canvas NEO bicycles.

The front fender can detach and cause the front wheel to stop abruptly, posing a fall hazard.

The firm has received eight reports of the fender detaching and contacting the bicycle wheel, two of which resulted in injuries involving bruising and abrasions.

This recall involves all Cycling Sports Group Cannondale Canvas NEO bicycles.

These are “e-bicycles” that have an electric assist motor, and they were sold in a variety of different colors and sizes. Affected bicycles are marked “Canvas” on the top tube and have an electric assist motor.

Only models of “Canvas” bicycles with an electric assist motor are included in this recall.

The bicycles, manufactured in Taiwan, were sold at authorized Cannondale dealers nationwide from June 2019, through October 2020, for between $3,200 and $4,200.

What to do

Consumers should immediately stop riding the bicycle until the front fender is removed, and contact their local authorized Cannondale dealer or Cycling Sports Group to arrange for a free repair.

Santa Cruz Bicycles recalls bikes with aluminum frames

Santa Cruz Bicycles of Santa Cruz, Calif., is recalling about 3,100 model year 2020 Aluminum Santa Cruz and Juliana Bicycles sold in the U.S. and Canada.

The aluminum frame pieces could have experienced thermal damage during a non-standard paint stripping operation and can bend or buckle, posing a fall hazard.

The firm has received four reports of the recalled aluminum frame bicycle pieces bending or buckling. No injuries have been reported.

This recall involves the model year 2020 aluminum frames on Santa Cruz models Nomad 4a Aluminum, Bronson 3a Aluminum and the 5010 3a Aluminum and Juliana models Roubion 3a Aluminum and Furtado 3a Aluminum.

The Nomad 4a Aluminum is black or eggplant (purple) color; the Bronson 3a Aluminum is red tide or olive color, and the 5010 3a Aluminum is dark gray and robins egg (light blue).

The Roubion 3a Aluminum is maritime gray and the Furtado 3a Aluminum is fog (light gray).

The name “Santa Cruz” or “Juliana” appears on the downtube of the bicycle frame. The model names appear in different locations on the front and rear triangles, depending on the model.

Only frames without six small indents above the first letter of the serial number are included in this recall. The serial number is located on the bottom bracket shell.

The bicycles, manufactured in China, were sold at bicycle stores nationwide and specialty online retailers from June 2019, through October 2020, for about $2,000 for frames sold separately and about $3,500 to $4,300 for complete bikes with the aluminum frames.

What to do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycles with aluminum frames and contact the firm to arrange for a free inspection.

Consumers with affected frames can choose either a free replacement aluminum frame or a refund voucher for the value of the recalled frame.

Any Volume recalls bicycle helmets

Any Volume of Bridgeville, Pa., is recalling about 660 bicycle helmets.

The helmets do not comply with the U.S. CPSC federal safety standard for bicycle helmets, posing a risk of head injury.

No incidents or injuries are reported.

This recall involves Any Volume’s medium-sized adult bicycle helmets sold in blue, green, pink, red, white and yellow.

The helmets have black nylon fabric straps with white striped patterns in the center and a black plastic knob at the back of the helmet for adjusting the fitting.

The helmets, manufactured in China, were sold exclusively online at ebay.com from May 2020, through October 2020, for about $15.

Quality Bicycle Products recalls Salsa Cycles Cutthroat bikes

Quality Bicycle Products of Bloomington, Minn., is recalling about 700 Salsa Cutthroat bicycles and forks sold in the U.S. and Canada.

The bicycle’s fork legs can crack or break, posing a fall hazard.

The firm has received seven reports of cracked forks. No injuries have been reported.

This recall involves 2020 Salsa Cutthroat series bicycles, including: Salsa Cutthroat with model names GRX 810 Di2, GRX 810 1x, GRX 600, Apex 1, framesets, and Carbon Deluxe V2 aftermarket forks.

The model name is printed on the frame of the bicycles. The bicycles are sold in a variety of different colors and sizes.

This recall involves only Cutthroat bicycles, framesets and forks in which the fork serial number contains the letter G. A Cutthroat fork serial number is visible when the fork is removed from the frame.

The recalled Salsa Cutthroat models include:

Jakks Pacific recalls Morfboard Skate & Scoot Scooters

Jakks Pacific of Santa Monica, Calif., is recalling about 162,300 MorfBoard Skate & Scoot Combo scooters with “Y” handlebars.

The “Y” handlebar joint can break, posing a fall hazard.

The company has received 18 reports of the “Y” handlebars breaking with one injury when a child fell resulting in a bloody nose.

This recall involves Morfboard Skate & Scoot Combo scooters with “Y” handlebars.

The skateboard system has interchangeable parts that convert into a scooter by inserting the ‘Y” handlebar into the base board.

The scooters were sold in a variety of colors, including cyan (blue), chartreuse (yellow), lava (red) and mint (green).

An 8-character alphanumeric manufacturing date code is located on the bottom side of each skate deck that is sold as part of the Skate & Scoot Combo.

Only scooters with the following manufacturing date codes are included in the recall: 0049VE01, 0128VE01, 0238VE01, 0328VE01, 0598VE01, 0718VE01, 0878VE01, 1068VE01, 1168VE01, 1278VE01, 1458VE01, 1508VE01,1598VE01, 1858VE01, 2068VE01, 2328VE01, 2398VE01, 2478VE01, 2548VE01, 2508VE01, 2568VE01, 2958VE01, 3198VE01, 3258VE01, 3537VE01, 3628VE01.

Consumers should immediately take these recalled scooters with the “Y” handlebars away from children and contact Jakks Pacific to receive a free replacement “T” handlebar.

Peloton recalls PR70P bike pedals

Peloton Interactive of New York, N.Y., is recalling about 54,000 PR70P Clip-In Pedals fitted on Peloton bikes.

The pedals can break during use, causing laceration injuries.

The firm has received 120 consumer reports of pedal breakages, including 16 reports of leg injuries. Five of the injuries required medical care, such as stitches to the lower leg.

The PR70P or first-generation pedal fitted on Peloton bikes were sold between July 2013 and May 2016.

The Peloton logo and the word "PELOTON" are molded into the pedal body. An orange Peloton symbol and white lettering spelling "PELOTON" are printed on the top of the cleat binding.

Pedals are warranted for one year and all remaining PR70P Clip-In pedals in service are out of warranty. Peloton recommends that consumers replace pedals annually.

The pedals, manufactured in Taiwan, were sold online at www.onepeloton.com, through Peloton telephone sales, or through Peloton showrooms nationwide from July 2013, through May 2016. The PR70P pedals were fitted on Peloton bikes that sold for about $2,000.

What to do

Consumers should immediately stop using bikes fitted with PR70P Clip-In pedals. Peloton is notifying all affected consumers directly on how to receive free replacement pedals, along with instructions for self-installation.

Specialized Bicycle Components recalls Sirrus bicycles

Specialized Bicycle Components of Morgan Hill, Calif., is recalling about 38,200 Sirrus, Sirrus X and Sirrus Sport bicycles with alloy cranks sold in the U.S. and Canada.

The crank arm can disengage and cause the rider to lose control, posing fall and injury hazards.

The firm has received 56 reports of crank arm disengaging, including seven reports of injuries. One injury involved a torn bicep tendon and the other six were minor injuries, such as road rash.

This recall involves the 2019-2020 model year Sirrus, Sirrus X and Sirrus Sport bicycles sold in 27 different colors.

Consumers can determine if their bicycle is part of the recall if “Sirrus” or “Sirrus X” is written on the top tube of the bicycle and the model name (e.g. “3.0”) is written on the seatstay of the bicycle. A list of the recalled models may be found here.

The bicycles, manufactured in Taiwan, were sold at authorized Specialized retailers nationwide and online from September 2018, through June 2020, for between $850 and $1,700.

Pedego recalls electric bikes

Pedego of Fountain Valley, Calif., is recalling about 11,600 electric bicycles.

An improperly manufactured electrical cable can cause the bicycle to accelerate unexpectedly, posing a fall hazard to the user.

The firm has received five reports of the bike’s electrical cable malfunctioning, causing the bike to unexpectedly accelerate. No injuries have been reported.

This recall involves six models of Pedego electric bikes. Models include the Interceptor (Including Platinum Edition), City Commuter (Including Mid Drive Edition and Black Edition), Boomerang Plus, Ridge Rider, Trail Tracker (Including Gorilla Edition) and Stretch (Including Dual Drive Edition).

The model name is printed on the chain guard or chain stay of the bike. The bikes were sold in various colors. Pedego is printed on the bike frame.

The bikes, manufactured I China and Vietnam, were sold at bicycle stores nationwide and online at www.pedego.com from January 2018, through August 2020, for between $3,000 and $4,700.

Cycling Sports Group recalls front racks for Cannondale Treadwell bikes

Cycling Sports Group of Wilton, Conn., is recalling about 2,000 front racks with bamboo trays sold in the U.S. and Canada.

The front racks can detach and cause the front wheel to stop abruptly, posing a fall hazard.

The firm has received two reports of of the tray detaching and contacting the bicycle wheel -- one resulting in a fall involving minor cuts and bruises, and the other involving both bruising and a concussion.

This recall involves the front rack with a bamboo tray for Cycling Sports Group Cannondale Treadwell bicycles. The rack has a black metal frame and a bamboo tray.

“ISO11243:2016 YUENI MAX 10KG” is printed on the bamboo tray.

The racks, manufactured in Taiwan, were sold at authorized Cannondale dealers nationwide from April 2019, through June 2020, for between $950 to $2,750 for the bicycles sold with the front racks, and $100 for the racks sold separately.

The front racks were included as original equipment on some bicycles. On other bicycles, they were sold separately as ad-on equipment.

Consumers urged to stop using and dispose of Morpher bike helmets

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is urging consumers to stop using about 8,500 Morpher flat-folding bicycle helmets and dispose of them to prevent further usage.

The helmets do not comply with the federal safety standard for bicycle helmets, posing a risk of head injury.

Morpher is no longer in business and is unable to conduct a recall. No incidents or injuries are reported.

This action involves Morpher flat-folding bicycle helmets sold in one size, fitting head circumference from 20.5 to 22.8 inches. The helmets were sold with a storage bag and in the following solid or dotted colors: Gloss or matte black, gray, red, silver, white and yellow.

The Morpher name and logo appear on both sides of the helmet. The Morpher logo appears on the back of the helmet.

The helmets, manufactured in Hong Kong, were sold online at Amazon.com, CyclingSafetyGear.com and MorpherHelmet.com from April 2017 through November 2019 for about $150.

This recall involves woom bikes USA children’s helmets sold in blue, green, purple, red and yellow and in size S (for small size).

woom is printed on both sides of the helmets and the size “S” appears on the back of the helmet. Only the small-sized helmets are included in this recall.

Active Brands NA of Broomfield, Colo., is recalling about 300 Sweet Protection brand Ripper Jr., Ripper MIPS Jr., and Ripper MIPS bicycle helmets.

The helmets do not comply with the U.S. CPSC federal safety standard for bicycle helmets, posing a risk of head injury.

No incidents or injuries have been reported.

This recall involves Active Brand AS Sweet Protection-branded Ripper Jr., Ripper MIPS Jr. and Ripper MIPS bicycle helmets.

The Ripper Jr. and Ripper MIPS Jr. helmets were sold in one size, fitting head circumference from 48 cm to 53 cm (18.9 to 20.9 inches).

The Ripper MIPS helmet was sold in one size, fitting head circumference from 53 cm to 61 cm (20.9 to 24.0 inches).

The helmets were sold in matte colors: black, white, blue, gray, green, pink and purple. “Sweet Protection” is printed on the side of the helmets.

All helmets have the manufacturing date printed inside the helmet with 2019 as the production year and a number between 9 and 12 as the production month. The model name is printed on a label on the rear back side of the helmet. 

The bicycle helmets are tested and certified according to the European standard for bicycle helmets, EN1078 and were only meant to be sold in the European market.

The helmets, manufactured in China, were sold at Evo and Rogers Ski and Sport sporting goods stores in California, Colorado, Montana, New Hampshire, Utah, Washington and Wyoming, and online at Expert Voice Pro Purchase (www.expertvoice.com) from February 2020, through June 2020, for between $50 and $90.

Rocky Mountain Bicycles recalls Instinct and Pipeline Bikes

Rocky Mountain Bicycles of Canada is recalling about 3,000 Rocky Mountain non-electric alloy frame Instinct, Instinct BC and Pipeline bicycles sold in the U.S. and Canada.

The bicycle’s front frame triangle can crack and cause separation of the head tube from the frame, posing fall and injury hazards.

The firm has received 12 reports of front triangles cracking. There have been no reports of injuries.

This recall includes the alloy models of Rocky Mountain model year 2018-2020 Instinct, Instinct BC and Pipeline trail bikes.

Rocky Mountain is printed on the downtube. Instinct, Instinct BC or Pipeline are printed inside the seatstay on the left hand side.

The bikes were sold with 29 inch and 27.5+ inch wheels.

The recalled bikes include small, medium and large sizes with serial numbers starting with PRK17, PRK18 and PRK19-XXXXX. The serial number is located under the bottom frame bracket.

Only non-electric bicycles with alloy frames in all colors in the following models serial numbers are being recalled:

Giant Bicycles Canada recalls Giant Pinner DH and VP Harrier pedals

Giant Bicycles Canada of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, is recalling about 364 Giant Pinner DH and VP Harrier bicycle pedals sold throughout Canada.

The locking fastener can fail allowing the pedal to slide off the spindle, posing a fall hazard.

The company has received 20 reports of the pedal detaching, and one report of injury.

The Giant Pinner DH pedals have the "Giant" logo marking on them, and the VP Harrier pedals are marked with "Harrier."

The locking fasteners at the end of the spindles are attached flush to the pedals.

Giant Pinner DH and VP Harrier pedals that have locking fasteners protruding at the end of the spindle are NOT included in this recall.

The pedals, manufactured in Taiwan, were sold from June 2017, to May 2020.

VP Harrier and Giant Pinner bicycle pedals recalled

VP Components of Taiwan is recalling about 2,700 pairs of VP Harrier and Giant Pinner DH bicycle pedals.

The pedal body can separate from the pedal spindle resulting in a loss of balance, posing fall and injury hazards for the rider.

The company has received 79 reports of broken spindles and one report of a rider injured in a fall, after the spindle of a Giant Pinner DH model pedal separated from the body of the pedal.

This recall involves VP Components Harrier and Giant Pinner DH bicycle pedals sold separately from bicycles.

A spindle extends through the pedal body. One end of the spindle is attached to the end of the crank arm of the bicycle. The other end of the spindle is secured to the pedal body with a fastener.

The pedals are red, silver or black-colored with Harrier or Giant printed on the pedal body.

The pedals, manufactured in Taiwan, were sold at bicycle stores nationwide and online at various websites from approximately May 2017, through December 2017, for between $113 and $116 each.

What to do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycle pedals and contact the bike shop or online retailer where the pedals were originally purchased to arrange for free replacement pedals.

Woom bikes USA recalls bicycles

Woom bikes USA of Austin, Texas, is recalling about 5,500 Woom model 4, 5, 6 bicycles.

The bicycle’s front fork can loosen and detach, posing fall and injury risks to the rider.

The firm has received two reports of the fork becoming loose or detaching in the U.S. No injuries have been reported.

This recall involves Woom bicycle models 4 (20-inch), 5 (24-inch) and 6 (26-inch), sold in red, blue, green, purple and yellow.

The model number is on the top tube of each bike, and “Woom” is printed across the bottom tube of the bicycle frame.

The bicycles, manufactured in Cambodia, were sold online at us.woombikes.com from August 2018, through March 2019, for about $450 (woom 4), $480 (woom 5) and $500 (woom 6).

What to do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and contact the firm for a free repair kit for the front fork. The firm is contacting all known purchasers and providing a free repair kit including installation instructions.
