Audi recalls Q5 Sportbacks, SQ5 Sportbacks, Q5s, and SQ5s

Audi is recalling 288,991 model year 2021-2022 Q5 Sportbacks & SQ5 Sportbacks and model year 2018-2022 Q5s & SQ5 vehicles.

A liquid spill in the rear seat, or water ingress from an insufficient body seam underneath the vehicle, may allow liquid to penetrate the gateway control module and cause it to shut down.

A gateway control module shutdown will suddenly reduce engine power, increasing the risk of a crash.

What to do

Dealers will install a protective cover on the gateway control module and seal an underbody seam -- as necessary -- free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on February 24, 2022.

Audi recalls various model year 2017-2020 vehicles with airbag issue

Audi is recalling 208,332 model year 2017-2020 A4 Allroads & A4 Sedans, model year 2018-2019 RS5 Coupes, model year 2019 RS5 Sportbacks, model year 2018-2020 A5 Cabriolets, A5 Coupes, A5 Sportbacks, S4 Sedans, S5 Cabriolets, S5 Coupes, and S5 Sportbacks.

The cable connecting the seat heater to the Passenger Occupant Detection System (PODS) may have a contact fault, causing the software to misdiagnose a malfunction and disable the passenger airbag.

A disabled passenger airbag increases the risk of an injury during a crash.

What to do

Dealers will replace the connecting cable and either the heating mat or the entire seat cover free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on January 7, 2022.

Audi recalls models with rearview camera issue

Volkswagen Group of America is recalling 2,857 select Audi vehicles that may experience an error that prevents the rearview camera from working properly. An improperly working camera may prevent a driver from having rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. 

The recalled models include 2021 Audi A8 and S8, 2022 Audi A5 Sportback, A4 Sedan, E-Tron GT, Q3, Q5, RS6 Avant, A3 Sedan, S5 Sportback, Q5 Sportback, Q7, Q8, RSQ8, SQ7, SQ8, and S3 Sedan vehicles.

Audi stated that dealers will update the infotainment unit parameters in affected vehicles at no cost to owners. Notification letters are expected to be mailed on December 17, 2021.

Audi recalls E-Tron Quattros and E-Tron Sportback Quattros

Audi is recalling 38 model year 2021 E-Tron Quattros and E-Tron Sportback Quattros.

Corrosion in the brake booster may cause the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), speedometer display, and brake assist to stop functioning.

A loss of braking assist, ABS, and ESC will increase the effort and distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.

What to do

Dealers will replace the brake booster free of charge.

Audi recalls model year 2021 E-Tron Quattros and E-Tron Sportback Quattros

Audi is recalling 58 model year 2021 Audi E-Tron Quattros and E-Tron Sportback Quattros.

The right hinge pin for the glove box cover may not be properly secured, allowing the glove box lid trim to interfere with the knee airbag during deployment.

An airbag that does not deploy properly can increase the risk of injury in a crash.

What to do

Dealers will inspect the glove box, and secure the hinge pin -- as necessary -- free of charge.

Audi is recalling 498 model year 2021 E-Tron Quattros and model year 2020-2021 E-Tron Sportback Quattros.

An improperly welded rotor and shaft may separate within the integrated brake system.

Separation of the rotor and shaft may cause a reduction in braking assistance and a loss of the Antilock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), increasing the risk of a crash.

Volkswagen recalls Audi TT Coupes, TT Roadsters and A4s & S4s

Volkswagen Group of America is recalling 62,812 model year 2000-2001 Audi TT Coupes, TT Roadsters, and model year 2000-2002 A4s & S4s with Non-Azide Driver AirBag Inflators (NADI) that do not contain phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant.

Due to a manufacturing issue, the NADI inflators may absorb moisture, possibly causing the airbag to deploy improperly.

In a crash necessitating airbag deployment, the airbag may not properly protect the occupant, increasing the risk of serious injury or death.

What to do

Dealers will replace the driver front airbag inflator with an alternative inflator free of charge.

Audi is recalling 15 model year 2021 Audi SQ7s, RSQ8s, RS7s, RS6 AVANTs and SQ8s.

Cracks may develop on the surface of the engine cylinder bore.

Cracks may cause engine damage and a stall or an oil leak, increasing the risk of a crash or fire.

Malfunctioning passenger occupant detection system prompts Audi recall

Audi is recalling 153,152 model year 2015-2020 Audi S3 Sedans & A3 Sedans, model year 2016-2018 A3 Etrons, model year 2017-2020 RS3 Sedans, and model year 2015-2019 A3 Cabriolets.

The passenger occupant detection system (PODS) may malfunction and switch off the passenger airbag even when the seat is occupied.

A deactivated passenger airbag increases the risk of injury in a crash.

What to do

The remedy program is still in development.

Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed May 21, 2021. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy becomes available.

This is an expansion of an earlier recall. Vehicles included in that recall must return for a new remedy

Audi calls various vehicles with airbag issue

Audi is recalling 3,388 model year 2021 Audi RS6 Avants, RS7s, model year 2020-2021 A6 Allroads, S6 Sedans, S7s, and model year 2019-2021 A6 Sedans and A7s.

The score line on the passenger airbag may not have been manufactured correctly.

An incorrectly manufactured airbag may not deploy properly, and could also eject plastic debris into the passenger compartment, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

What to do

Audi will notify owners and dealers will inspect the passenger air bag score line, and repair it as – necessary -- free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin May 7, 2021.

Audi A8s and S8s recalled

Audi is recalling 238 model year 2019-2021 A8s and model year 2020-2021 S8s.

A missing sealing pin may allow moisture to enter the engine control module connector, possibly causing a control module malfunction.

This could cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

What to do

Audi will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the engine control module connector for a missing sealing pin, and install it if necessary.

The connector will also be inspected for corrosion, and replaced as necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin April 23, 20121.

Audi is recalling 26,967 model year 2020-2021 Q7s.

The airbag control module may deploy the second stage of the front passenger airbag too quickly after the first stage when the seat is occupied by a child, increasing the risk of injury.

Audi recalls model year 2019 Audi Q3

Audi is recalling a single model year 2019 Audi Q3.

Production deviation in the belt pully can prevent the circlip from properly engaging the steering rack.

As a result, the circlip can detach and catch on surrounding components, causing the steering system to lock and increasing the risk of a crash.

What to do

Audi will notify the owner, and a dealer will replace the steering rack free of charge.

The recall began February 4, 2021.

Audi recalls model year 2020 Q3s

Audi is recalling 313 model year 2020 Q3s.

The brake pedal plate can bend or detach under the pressure applied during sudden stopping.

A bent or detached brake pedal plate decreases the contact area for the driver's foot and increases the risk of a crash.

What to do

Audi will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the weld between the brake pedal and the brake pedal plate and -- as necessary -- replace the entire brake pedal free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin January 31, 2021.

Audi recalls model year 2018-2019 RS5 Coupes

Audi is recalling 2,355 model year 2018-2019 RS5 Coupes. An incorrect positive battery terminal cover was installed.

In a rear crash, the incorrect cover can cause the 12-volt power supply to be compromised, preventing the vehicle doors from being opened from the outside, or the hazard warning lights from functioning, increasing risk of injury.

What to do

Audi will notify owners, and dealers will replace the positive terminal cover free of charge.
