Hired them for out of state move. Salesperson came to my house to give me an estimate. Stated all employees go through training on how to pack and load the truck and are actual North American Van Lines employees. Stated if they packed items that break they would be responsible for the damages. I had them pack my lamp shades, umbrella stand, planter and a Disney tombstone Halloween decoration. All of which were crushed and broken. Company stated, "Sorry you picked the 60 cents a pound. Here is your $200." The Disney item alone is on average $500. They also have my husband's $500 weight set which they found in the truck several days after delivery. I have been trying to get them since July. They admit they have them but are doing nothing to get them back to us. They could ship them but that hasn’t happened. Very sad. The damage we received was all from their packing and handling.

We hired North American Van Lines to move from Pennsylvania to Minnesota after getting quotes from 5 other long distance movers. The quote was provided by Phil ** at L&J Moving and Storage in Pottstown, PA and is guaranteed to no more than the quote and will refund to client if the actual weight is less than estimated. On the moving date and delivery date, the moving coordinator (Dara **) texted me to check how thing was going and offered to help if anything goes wrong. When I need to delay delivery date due to unexpected factor, the company accommodated my request without additional cost.
The driver (Jim) arrived on time both on the moving data and delivery date as scheduled. The claim for minor damages was handled by a claim analyst (Amy **) without any hassle. A small refund was issued after the moving is completed and details were audited because the actual weight is less than estimated. I am 100% satisfied and will work with North American Van Lines again for future moving.

No box for mattress, no boxes for lamps. Thank God the movers were resourceful and prepared lamp boxes. I was assured the mattress would be put in a box at the warehouse. It was not. I called our rep and she never returned my call. The moving men were terrific. The office staff not so good.

Worse move of my 40+ years of military service. Dara (Coordinator) should NOT be in customer service position. She left us hanging as to a crew showing up and if so when. Instead she stayed home and ignored our calls. The move crew showed up just before 7 pm and departed just before 11 pm. What kind of service is this? While they did a very good job packing up our goods the paperwork has mostly bins vice the contents written on the bins and boxes. Additionally, we were handcuffed all day as to when and if they would show. This put us one day behind schedule and again we could not go take care of moving concerns due to not knowing and we had to change reservations and such. Dara showed very little to no care of the situation and yet she was the coordinator. Spoke to her supervisor Gina and received the same lack of concern for handcuffing us a full day.
After our goods were packed it took two additional days to try and pry info as to when we needed to meet the delivery in Florida but again....Crappy service. I even called North American and was told our goods would arrive Monday 16 October yet our window was quoted as Tues to Friday. Dara could or would not obtain the information. She had the driver call us to which he wanted to deliver a full two days earlier than scheduled. He stated Sunday!!! This was the worse move of my career by far and working for Naval Systems Command HQ makes me want to have your company blacklisted or at least noted in records that L&J should NEVER be utilized. No one, military or civilian should have this stress placed upon them. Moving is stressful enough. I await a reply from a Top Level Executive before I make my decision to share my bad experience with HQ in addition to my military contacts. Standing by for apologies and making things right.

I do NOT recommend North American Van Lines, worst moving experience in my life. I was quoted $5700.00 after inventory for my move. 4 guys in a Penske truck show up from Southern Elite Van Lines. wanted $11500.00 for my move. Conducted themselves as if they never moved anyone before. Had to haggle all morning with the supervisor (MO) to bring the price down to $6000.00 they ended up moving about half my household items. Upon delivery once again they acted as if they had no clue as i had to instruct them to place the items inside the house- not the garage as they offered. Costly for me to rent U-Haul to retrieve left behind items. Nightmarish move to say the least, then they hit me up for a TIP! Everyone should be aware of this most unprofessional business conduct. LOOK ELSEWHERE. I will never do business with North American Van Lines/Southern Elite Van Lines in the future. Nor should you.
Hi David, You did not move with North American Van Lines. You moved with a broker called North America ( no N) Moving Services or North American Moving Experts. They keep changing their name. I am sorry this happened to you. We have filed a claim against them in the past. We do not work with Southern Elite Van Lines. If you would be so kind to remove this review.

We chose North American for our relocation from Arizona to Texas. The entire process was easy from beginning to end. Everyone on the team communicated with us throughout the process, from the scheduled pick up to the scheduled delivery date. The driver was on time and the unloading crew were professional with handling our belongings, along with having a courteous demeanor. Very impressed with everyone on the team. We made the right decision choosing North American for our move.

On 9/11/23 we hired this company to move from NY to NC. They seemed nice and great on the phone at first. But, What was written in the contract did not happen. Josh said they don’t use third party companies and also said that the price is the price. It will not change. A third party company came out with a U-haul truck. That company also tried to tell us that we had to pay for boxes, and tape, and wrapping…and that it would cost $9,000 extra than what was quoted!!! After we already went room to room with a representative of North American Van. This 3rd party company also said they would give us a better deal if we disregarded North American's contract and sign an agreement with them! They were going behind North American's back and trying to get a deal out of us. Crazy!
We sent them on their way, called North American to tell them what happened and they said how can we fix this. They refused a refund of our deposit but that a manager would call us. We said we wanted another reliable truck back out to move our things. A man called and asked what happened and said what can I do. We asked for a refund of our deposit because we had a horrible experience and are going with a different company. He agreed over the phone to refund our deposit within 7-10 business days. Still 3 weeks later and numerous calls to this customer service number we have not seen our $4500 deposit refunded and they are now saying we are not getting our money back.
These people are the rudest customer service agents I have ever dealt with. I can’t get ahold of anyone I originally spoke with regarding my move date and deposit. They keep passing me around from agent to agent because they now recognize my number when I call and will not allow me to speak with a manager. I’ve threatened an attorney on them and a gathering of phone records because all the calls are recorded. They are not phased at all. They have no sympathy or regret on preying on innocent people and should be put out of business for stealing people's money. They are thieves. Do not trust or use this company.

The move itself went very well except for timing issues. Our driver Zac was excellent, knowledgeable, careful with our furnishings, and very pleasant to work with. His helpers were also very good. However, some packing was to take place on Tuesday of our move week with the load on Wednesday. Zac showed up on Tuesday in an 18-wheeler to begin the load. We weren’t quite ready. Also, he was to give us a firm delivery date on the load date. He said Saturday. He hedged a little but later assured us that a Mr. ** (Apparently the chief at Cord North American) said that Saturday would be fine. We cancelled our extra nights of hotel reservations at our destination. The next morning, near the start of our long drive, Zac called to say the delivery would not be until Monday. We had to rebook a hotel for two nights at an extra cost of about $200.
In fairness to Zac, the original weight estimate of our load was too high by about 30%, which seems extreme. That meant the truck had some spare room at the back. Cord North American found an opportunity to fill the truck with another customer’s goods, which had to be unloaded before ours. It was difficult to get that explanation out of Cord management, however, none of whom seemed to want to accept accountability. In all, we were very pleased with the performance of the driver and crew, though mistakes were made by Cord in the weight estimate and in communicating a realistic expectation for delivery.

North American was contracted through Beltmann Relocation Group and, in our case, North American contracted its driver and the driver contracted the movers. We had a very good experience moving from AZ to WY. The driver was great and the movers he used in AZ were excellent. They wrapped every piece of furniture in moving blankets and plastic wrap. To save money, we didn’t use their packers and I’d been packing slowly for months, even before putting the house on the market. The insurance was affordable, so we chose the no deductible option. Our load arrived within the week but in a different trailer. We were told and made aware our load would be moved from the trailer used to pick up our belongings in AZ to another before arriving in Cheyenne.
Our driver arrived 2 hours before the movers, because they had not been contacted by the driver’s scheduler prior to that day, and had to drive up from Denver. They were admittedly high and in a hurry as they hadn’t expected to work on a Sunday, ripping through the plastic wrap with box cutters hastily. They managed to gouge and scratch my dresser, but we didn’t find any damage to any other furniture items. Since we were moving from our snowbird home to our primary, we had the movers stack the boxes in our garage so we could take our time unpacking and finding a proper space for everything.
Eleven days later, we discovered a small box containing my bocce ball set was missing and immediately contacted our K.V., our representative at Beltmann, to file a claim for that and the damage to the dresser. She was going to see if she could locate the missing box. We didn’t hear anything from her for almost 30 days, so I reached out to her and she referred me to CO., a representative at Sirva, which I assumed is the insurance company, and I filled out the appropriate form to report our claim.
We received notice from Sirva that the dresser would be fixed but the missing item was not covered because we didn’t report it missing the day of the move, despite the fact that the claim form says you have up to nine (9) months to file a claim. Explaining why we didn’t discover it missing sooner, I was informed my husband signed off on the inventory sheet even though we didn’t mark off the “bingo card checklist.” I explained we were not given that sheet to inventory and that the driver presented it to my husband as he was about to leave, only asking that he sign it. I appealed this decision and was referred to W.L., another person at Beltmann, or Sirva, or North American, because at this point I’m not sure which entity I’m dealing with, and then W.L. referred me to M.L, whom, we assumed, had the final say. Finally in August we received a letter from M.L. explaining:
“It appears this item would have been packed in a pack by owner carton. I do not see this item listed on the inventory separately. Carrier personnel were not involved in packing items into the cartons and we have no knowledge of the contents of the cartons or the value of the contents,” and for that reason they would only allow us a MAXIMUM of $150.00. The cost to replace the bocce ball set is $254.06. So, I guess, when one reason to deny coverage fails, you make up another. I don’t understand how who packed what would make a difference. Like, would they know which box contained what items AND THE VALUE OF EACH if they contracted someone to pack our belongings? I asked M.L. and this is the reply I got, “As I indicated previously, the carrier has no knowledge of the contents or value of the contents of a packed by owner carton.”
And for that reason, as a “goodwill gesture,” North American issued us another check to bring the amount up to the cost of the bocce ball, minus tax and shipping. I reminded M.L. that a goodwill gesture would have been to pay the claim in full in a timely manner. This took 7 months, several phone calls, a two page appeal letter, and 20+ emails. In conclusion, is the very affordable insurance worth the time and aggravation it took to receive compensation for the lost item? I suppose if you have the wherewithal to take on fighting for what’s due, then YES! But is it right that you have to fight for a service you’ve paid for? NOPE! If North American feels that strongly about paying out a little over $200, I feel for those who have suffered much more in losses or damages.

When you box anything yourself, proper labelling as "Fragile" or "This side Up" mean absolutely nothing to this company. If you pack anything of high value yourself - you are better off moving it yourself! Don't pay for the extra insurance. If they damage it - they will deny the damage claim without asking for photos because the "customer packed the item". I guess basic reading is not a requirement for good service. I will NOT be recommending this company to anyone - ever.

Great Experience overall, Ian Roberts was a friendly, accommodating and a helpful advocate. Your driver was on time and efficient. The only issue we had was with your pack. The Packers packed boxes way to heavy, causing many of them to tear in transit and were very heavy to move around the new house. Labeling of box location could have been much better and packing done in more boxes to make them lighter to deal with. I would not recommend using these packers again.

I am a very unhappy, frustrated, and disappointed customer of North American Van Lines. I wish I had visited this site before booking North American Van lines for our move from Kansas to Texas in May, 2023. Based on the reviews here, I would never have utilized them, and I will never utilize them again!... When signed a moving contact, I bought up to $40,000 insurance for my stuffs and North American Van Lines representative, Greg **, at ** told me I would get full price for any item lost or damage.
North American Van Lines never gave a contract which had North American Van Lines representative, Greg ** signature until I requested. But when they emailed a copy of contract which never had a moving registration number. When moving truck coming, Carlos, driver and his helper move stuffs to my house and put everywhere without tallying, nobody can check or count. Carlos, driver asked me to sign paperwork and said: "Go ahead to sign and if something missed you had 60 days to file a claim and get paid back." After I unpacked all boxes and found out there were a lot of stuffs lost and damaged which cost thousands of dollars to buy them. I called to file a claim and they asked me a moving registration number which they never gave me (blank). This was an unusual event. I was denied to pay all stuffs lost and damaged. If you don't want your stuffs lost or stolen... then do not hire North American Van Lines for moving.

Every step of the way the experience was horrendous. Many of our most precious belongings were damaged, our boxes and furnishings were not properly inventoried, the contracted team of movers was disrespectful and unprofessional, and at a $20,000 move our expectations were not even close to being met. We contracted with North American Van Lines to move our belongings from the northwest Chicago suburbs to Fruita, a small town in western Colorado. If you hire these guys, I will guarantee they will be breaking many of your items. While North American wrapped the furniture, we packed all the boxes ourselves. We spent hundreds of dollars for moving boxes, bubble wrap and other packing materials to make sure our items arrived safely. When the boxes were moved from our house into the trailer, they were in perfect condition. It didn’t matter. Our items did not break because of the way they were packed in the boxes. They broke because of the way the boxes were loaded and crammed on the truck.
When we contracted with North American, we specifically asked the salesman about items broken in shipping. He told us if anything was broken to take pictures of the broken items and the boxes they came in. Then file a claim using their online form which we did and the items would be paid for. That is not what happened. North American paid us $109 for a claimed $840 in damaged items. Then to discourage us from asking for anything more they said if we chose to, we could file for arbitration. They were also going to charge us $300 to file for arbitration to discourage us from further advancing our claim. North American is claiming that because they did not pack the boxes, they couldn’t be held liable for any damages. They further claimed that there was no written notification made of crushed boxes at the time of delivery.
The reason there is no written notification at delivery is the driver, who should have been supervising the unloading, was sleeping in the truck while another local crew that was brought in did the unloading. As for who packed the boxes, that is irrelevant because of the way the boxes were loaded. Even if North American had packed the boxes the same damage would have occurred. Having worked for UPS in the trucking industry I know there is a right way and a wrong way to load a truck trailer.
Our trailer was 13-feet high. The correct way to load it would have been to stack boxes to build walls until the boxes reached half the height of the trailer. Then a wood platform is mounted across the trailer and more boxes are then loaded to the top. By doing it this way the weight of the boxes is evenly distributed and the boxes on the bottom are not crushed. When our trailer was loaded all our boxes were clearly marked with what was in them. Unfortunately, the crew member stacking the boxes didn’t speak English so it is unlikely he understood what was in each box. He then built the box walls from the floor all the way to the top without using any wood platforms. As a result, all of the boxes on the bottom were crushed by the weight of 13-feet of other boxes stacked on top of them. Those bottom boxes are where all of our broken items were packed.
Our trailer was 53-feet long. When it was loaded, all 17,000 pounds of our belongings were packed in the first third of the trailer. This left room for other loads to be delivered along the way. When we got to our new house we had to wait 10 days for our items to be delivered. Because of the excessive delay I asked the driver how many other stops he had to make enroute. He said there were no other stops. Our items went direct from Chicago. My point here is that if there were no other stops there was no reason to pack our items so tight. The box walls didn’t need to go to the ceiling of the trailer. Had the load been spread out more the boxes on the bottom may not have been crushed at all. Buyer beware!

I hired N American to move us from CA to CO in April 2023. Halfway through loading I realized my wedding ring that I had placed in a cosmetic bag in my master bath with the door closed and a sign saying there is no packing in that room keep door closed was missing. The police searched the workers but could not find my ring. I had to endure watching them continue to load knowing one of two men who had access to my master bedroom was in possession of my ring. I was in and out watching progress as best I could. I have since learned one worker was on probation and had just been released from prison. I do not know what he served time for.
My advice to anyone who hires this company is to ask friends, family, neighbors, etc to help by posting someone in every room while they are on your property and keep all children out of their sight. They’re choosing to subject clients like me to people I would never invite in my home intentionally. They are still investigating this incident so I do not have resolution yet but I am reminded every day I go to put my ring on from habit.

They were three days past contract delivery date, and did not return calls, texts or emails when asked for an updated delivery after the expiration. Did not honor the daily late charge in contract. Truck was very poorly packed with several pieces of our furniture damaged. Lastly, sent only two people to unload a packed semi. We are elderly and I strongly feel they just dropped boxes off and couldn't wait to get job done. This was a disaster! Boxes were clearly marked basement, etc left anywhere. I was told my furniture would remain on the same moving truck. It was unloaded in Beltmann storage facility in GA for 9 days. 3. It was reloaded on another truck to bring to VA. 4. Most of my furniture was destroyed or damaged when it arrived due to the reloading on 2nd truck.
5. The claims rep. was very unprofessional, slow and unapologetic. They refuse to replace my items. They suggested I use repair companies. 6 They offered an appeal process that cost $350. I suggest selling your furniture and purchasing new furniture rather than paying $7k to 10k for moving costs. Ship special service valuables and irreplaceable items.

On a move from Michigan to South Carolina, it started off on the wrong foot when the movers started moving furniture down 1 1/2 flights of stairs without wrapping it securely. They busted my husband's dresser bouncing it down the stairs on a dolly. Then the truck did not have enough room to load all our belongings. They only took a fraction of our furniture and we had to wait until the next day for the second truck to load the rest. Delayed our departure by 1 day.
We arrive in South Carolina on Monday, ahead of our belongings, as expected. First truck arrives Wednesday and we discover the broken dresser and a couple of other damaged items. No word on second truck which has the majority of our furniture. We have our bed, thank goodness, a TV and 2 bag chairs that we have been living in for the past 12 days! Then second truck that was supposed to arrive today is still 3-4 days out, which will put our total move time at almost 3 weeks when we were expecting 1 week. We are beyond exhausted and exasperated! They offer no compensation for the delays and our inconvenience, they just say we can file a claim after the shipment is complete. Claim process can take up to 4 months. We find little comfort in that.

We regret utilizing Lile Moving & Storage company and North American Van Lines for our out-of-state move. These are a few of the issues we encountered: 1) Poor communication. *When we experienced shipping delays, we communicated with Lile Moving & Storage that we understood that these things can happen and our only request was that our point-of-contact keep us informed on updates. However, this did not happen and when we attempted to reach Lile Moving & Storage, they stopped answers our calls, voice messages and emails.
*We only learned that our belongings had been shipped crossed state lines when the accepting moving company called us to coordinate a delivery date. Poor communication with Lile Moving & Storage led to much unnecessary frustration for us. And, we know that poor communication within the moving industry isn’t standard as the accepting moving company, AirVan Moving, communicated exceptionally with us.
2) Poor packing and destruction of property, many of these items are irreplaceable. *Family heirlooms and vintage furniture arrived without any wrapping/protection/blanket padding and items were simply stacked on top of other items, causing dents, broken pieces and items to be smashed. *Our child’s custom Lego table was torn apart, and flat Lego boards that were superglued down to the table were ripped off. This egregious behavior was completely unnecessary and the table was destroyed. We had discussed the specifics of moving of our child’s Lego table with the crew lead. And we were reassured that these instructions would be followed, after-all, our crew lead was a father of 4!
These instructions were obviously not followed, and after our child’s Lego table left our home, it was destroyed sometime at Lile Storage. Who would do that to a kid? Who would willingly and intentionally destroy an object that clearly belonged to a kid, and that was loved and cherished? *Our living room lamps were placed in garden supply containers amongst shovels, rakes, and unwrapped ceramic pots. The wiring of the lamps was destroyed. Our indoor air purifier and space heater were thrown into an unpacked garden box with the garden hose, unwrapped ceramic pots, and gardening odds and ends. *Many boxes arrived smashed, dented or torn apart.
3) We were overcharged. *Our moving costs included two components: weight and number of boxes that Lile Moving & Storage packed on our behalf. *We opened many boxes that were partially/half-packed and “fluffed” with packing paper, which increased our moving costs. *Our Visa was charged the estimated quote amount, long before our belongings had left the Lile warehouse, and before the shipment had been weighed. We also were overcharged for the number of boxes which were packed by Lile Moving & Storage. When attempting to resolve this with Lile Moving & Storage, our calls and messages were not answered or returned. We ultimately had to engage Visa to dispute this charge, and Visa reversed the difference after an investigation was completed.
4) Dealing with the claims process is a part-time job. *Since Lile Moving & Storage contracts with North American, all claims get routed to North American. The claims process is time-consuming, frustrating, slow, and fraught with denials then appeals. We love our new home and community we live in, though Lile Moving & Storage, along with North American, certainly made the transition more stressful than it needed to be, and we would never use either company again. We recommend looking into AirVan Moving company, whose service was exemplary on the back-half of our move. We wish you good luck with your move!

Overall the move went smoothly. Our Move Coordinator, Quylie **, deserves special praise. She is simply outstanding and provided great customer support from start to finish. However, our Sleep Number bed was damaged during the move, despite the fact that we paid a separate fee to have it crated and uncrated properly. As a result, we had to sleep on the couch for a week until the matter got resolved. Also, the company that was contracted to move our car was not easy to communicate with. They picked up and delivered on time, but communication with customers is not their strong point. I would suggest that North American consider using another company to move cars.

Packers were poorly trained. When finished there were still kitchen drawers left full and no boxes left for loaders to use to pack tvs and mattresses. My pendulum clock I had for 40 years was broken because the packer did not know the proper way to pack the clock. She failed to remove the pendulum and just crammed paper in bending both the pendulum and movements making the clock inoperable. The day of the move, loaders were at my house at 8 but the driver did not get there until after 11 putting us hours late. The driver never called on pick up day nor deliver day to advise me of an arrival time. Nor did he apologize for being so late for pick up. Also the boxes for the mattresses and tvs had to be sent out separately and did not arrive until about 3 pm. It made me have to drive well after dark in order to be in at my new house for delivery. I try to avoid driving at night, but all the delays primarily caused by the driver required it.

The packing and pickup went smoothly. The relocation coordinator was much more efficient and responsive.
I was most dissatisfied with the delivery. Many furnitures (including cough, dining table, office chair, shoe racks, clothing rack, dining chairs) were dissembled for the move but not reassembled upon delivery. The screws etc from the dissembled furnitures were wrapped up and placed in a parts box but most of the bags were not labeled; it was nearly impossible to tell which parts belonged to which furniture. Moreover, the groves in the screws for the office chair were obliterated so the office chair cannot be reassembled.

Initially things looked good. Booking was made, but a delivery date wasn't. We were told that we would get a delivery date on pick up day, but we didn't. The loading crew from Rainbow Movers consisted of 4 people were instructed to load all items marked with our name and address. Present during loading was my wife, parents and a police officer who was out of uniform.
During the loading for reasons unknown a shelving unit was opened. In it there were bullets. Not loaded ammunition, but pieces of metal. The foreman on the job became alarmed, also having no firearm knowledge. After my father and the officer explained what it was, he asked that the items be reboxed. The foreman told my mother that should the shop manager find anything related to firearms, he will take it and destroy it. My parents were happy to do so after being told this. My parents were thrilled with how well the crew packaged the items.
After a long delay, Class Pays scheduled our delivery. At this point I had become aware that a number of items had been taken by Rainbow Movers that were marked on blue tape "do not take firearms." I immediately told Tony what I was looking for and what was in those particular packages. He was visibly upset that his people ended up with these items.
Many items were damaged due to the packing of the truck. One of the laborers was nearly killed by a heavy item packed on top. I was fortunately nearby and able to stop the avalanche before it crushed him. During the unloading process, I was able to check off the obvious items that were taken that should not have been.
After unloading due to the large amount of damage, and the need to assemble items we were told that either Kim or Samantha would be reaching out to us to schedule assembly. While the notes on damage would be submitted after the post move meeting and could be discussed with Tony as the damage was a result of the people in the warehouse's negligent packing job. At the end of the job, home damage survey was done. Only a basement door frame gouge was done. At that point it was reiterated that missing items, damage and assembly of items would be discussed with Kim and Samantha and it would be noted that there was extensive damage and missing items. After leaving we could inventory all items and submit claims within 90 days. After all the damage and missing items were cataloged an adjuster would be out and repairs would be completed while missing items I would be compensated for.
I left the movers to begin inventory. Noting several of the nondescript boxes were missing along with a large quantity of marked packages. I began calling Tony at Class Pays repeatedly. He never answered nor returned a call. Nor did Connor at Rainbow Movers. Speaking to my parents my mother remembered the foreman telling her that the warehouse manager was destroying anything firearm related he found. Thinking back to some of the things that were missing, I had to wonder if the items missing were looked for to be taken to be sold. My parents thought perhaps there was a pallet that didn't get taken. Going through the other items that were missing and those being mostly encyclopedias and books, this seemed reasonable. There was a pallet of our things in Franklin. All we had to do is pick them up.
I continued trying to get ahold of a decision maker without any success. Thinking I was simply being avoided, I used multiple numbers. Finally I sent an email informing Samantha at Rainbow that someone would be arriving to pick up our things. Samantha at Rainbow gave my mother a nasty reception. My mother simply had to tell her we had to start somewhere to find these missing items since there is a refusal to assist any way but in person. Connor came out and my parents explained the situation to him. He had them wait while he looked in the warehouse. 20 boxes with our name and address and a floor drill press should be easy to spot as Connor said he remembered the equipment. Connor said he did not find the items and attempted to reach Tony, who did not answer.
I was called by my parents and told that he was going to call them once he spoke with Tony and suggested that I call him as well and leave a message that Connor had told me to call. Which I did but did not get a reply. Samantha asked for a description of the missing boxes, which I provided pictures of. It was at this point nobody would answer emails or phone calls. My suspicion is when word got around what was in these packages everyone decided to hide and hope I went away, or just let legal handle it.
The abrasive nature of the customer experience when something goes wrong is beyond infuriating. Instead of any attempt to help all there is is deliberate attempts to frustrate and berate the customer. I attempted to get license information from the company in an aid to submit claims or perhaps light a fire to get actual help. The response from Bridget ** from North American was, "We don't care what is missing. File a police report. We don't have the ability to investigate."

Even so, when I went to the truck to tip the guys following the completion of the move, I smelled drugs in the cab. We moved across country from Oregon to Tennessee leaving mid January 2022. Where to begin? Two days after our items were loaded, our credit card was overcharged by almost $2,000. I was told by contact our refund was in process. We never received so charge remains contested. Our items were placed in storage twice (in OR and again in TN) without our consent and we were lied to being told things were “in transit” every time I called. I learned after the fact our items had been handled and moved 5 times.
We received our items 5 weeks after promised. We were told we would receive $100 a day for the delay- we were paid for only half of the days. We had many damaged items and over $16,000 of missing/ stolen items. Most items missing could be resold at high value- such as bicycles, a nice guitar, our bed frames, our box clearLy marked ‘electronics’. Many boxes we did receive had quite obviously been ripped open and rummaged through- so violating. I have many pictures. We paid for replacement value insurance. North American denies we are missing any items.
On day items were delivered, I asked for the check sheet. The driver went out to the truck, and 3 men started bringing in items to distract me. No check sheet. After all was in I was given the check sheet and told to sign “we will just check things off back at the office”. I refused to sign and instead listed what I knew at that point was missing and initialed it. The list was apparently never turned in by the driver. On delivery day I called the main office in Salem we started with to report the experience of broken items, many missing items, and attempt to deliver items that were not ours. The concern was only over the items that were not ours which of course we did not allow to be delivered.
I called North American - lots of papers filled out, months of waiting to be told I called the wrong number on delivery day, so it’s my fault and we get nothing. Absolutely nothing for all of our missing items. We are to replace all those items ourselves. This company has failed us on every possible level. I am in contact with several others who had very similar experiences and we are not alone. I have no idea how this company has 4 stars. They owe us close to $20,000 with all the delays, loss, and damage. You have now been warned. Please avoid this experience. Get a U-haul and save money and heartache.

One mover hurt himself, one walked off the job because the pieces were too heavy. We gave all weights of our pieces which was not given to the driver.
I was told that my furniture that was going into storage would be wrapped, unwrapped to visually review, and rewrapped. We had to give the driver extra cash to do this. The packers were in their 60's. Sweet people, but incredibly slow. We just have so many damaged pieces, I don't know where to start. EAMES LOUNGE CHAIR CUT INTO 2 HALVES. What a waste. All damaged since we called Allied (who we are familiar with because of military moves) but Allied sent our info to sister company North American Van Lines who then farmed it out to Valley Relocation. Valley Relocation did not treat this interstate move with the care and diligence we were promised even if we booked this since Nov. They forgot to schedule the craters and also changed plans at the last minute to crate and shrink wrap at their warehouse instead of our house In West Sacramento (no idea why as the move coordinator could not be reached. Don't know what else happened. No one could reach the driver who didn't show up to deliver. He showed up 6 days later. The sales person padded the budget with an additional $700-900 to have movers at delivery.
The local moving company Hansen Brothers (the company Allied and North American Van Lines are affiliated with) had no idea this truck was coming in since Valley Relocation did not book the move with them. They had no people available last minute on a Sunday when the driver finally showed up. The driver arrived 2 hours later with just one man from some other company. The packed boxes were all fine but the furniture arrived without shrink-wrapping nor blankets and in this condition. Nothing was done properly except the part where they charged our credit card. And then as a final FAIL there was also $150 in the budget to have Hansen Bros. come and pick up the boxes after and dispose of but again Valley Relocation did not book the move with them so Valley Relocation could belatedly book it now for pickup but that would be for some time in February.
So here we are collapsing and hauling boxes around ourselves. We have seen movers shrinkwrapping Ikea laundry bins but Valley Relocation did not even shrink wrap the Eames Lounge they were supposed to crate. And this is after their bid was $2000+ higher than Colonial because they were crating, adding movers and white glove service door to door. Hansen Bros. was the only one trying to help us when we called them first week of December but we could not coordinate with them since Valley Relocation did not book the move with them. It's almost as if Valley Relocation had our hands tied, took our things and held us hostage except they themselves couldn't locate the driver they hired. We can now track our burger delivery step by step but no one could find this 18 wheeler truck and driver for days. What do you think happened from Dec 27 to Jan 9 with our furniture?
It was not a global move. Just should have been a 13 hour trip. Then they kept on saying this and that was the drivers’ responsibility. We contracted the driver which is not true. We didn't go out and hire the driver, movers, packers or anyone ourselves. We trusted Allied / North American and they subcontracted to Valley Relocation this shabby service. They showed a complete lack of procedure, disregard for planning, caring for our belongings, gross negligence —- total breach of contract even after repeated communications for a month. They didn’t shrink wrap the furniture. They were even laughing at me that we were so worried. That I kept following up. That we kept asking them to book the Seattle movers Hansen Bros. in advance.
Hansen Bros. kept saying they can’t negotiate with us, they do not understand why Valley Relocation was not booking the move with them and that the Interstate Dispatcher should know about this move. Allied/North American should never trust or work Valley Relocation again. Allied/North American should make good and replace/repair our belongings in a timely manner. They should not nickel and dime us. They act with urgency. Not makes us wait 74 days.

The move from CA to NV was a nightmare. We used NAVL as a 3rd party company through a local mover in CA that I'd used for local moves twice before. I trusted them and trusted that our belongings would arrive safely and intact. That didn't happen. We knew our move was going to be costly since interstate moves are based on weight as opposed to by the hour. So, we were prepared for that. We did save money by packing about 90% of our belongings and letting the mover pack the rest such as my husband's office and the kitchen. What we weren't prepared for was what we found after boxes were opened that had been packed by the movers. Nothing but an illogical, disorganized mess.
Nothing was packed properly and a book case was completely destroyed. And when I say destroyed, I mean completely obliterated to the point where it had been broken in half! There was also a desk and wardrobe closet that didn't survive and a box was not delivered to us. I contacted our move coordinator about what I'd found and she sent me a claim form to try to recoup some of the damages. However, after reading the instructions on the claim form, and learning that I cannot replace any items until someone comes out to assess the damage, I decided not to file a claim. Especially since the total loss only comes to about $250-$300; for a wardrobe closet, a $25 Walmart bookcase, a desk that was probably about $100, hangers and other miscellaneous items. So, I don't want to waste anyone's time for such a paltry amount.
We did end up with a refund of around $2,000 because of the materials I bought and much of my own packing I'd done. That being said, nothing should have been broken if it had been handled with more care. The desk and wardrobe closet survived 3 other moves, they should have survived this one, too. And the bookcase never should have been destroyed like it was. I was told it did survive the move; it was destroyed when it was placed in the storage unit we had to rent. We also know a box didn't get delivered to the storage unit. We've opened every box and cannot find the box I packed that had towels and a 3-tier glass corner shelf and a bracket for my jewelry tree I'd wrapped inside. Fortunately, they can be replaced, but I'm still disappointed it didn't make it.
Other issues include:
- I bought boxes, packing materials, and kits specifically for packing glasses and dishes, and other fragile items. Nothing that I bought was used. NOTHING. I opened a box and found everything I'd bought specifically for that was unopened. I had even asked at one point during the packing if the bubble wrap pouches, or the dish and cup packs were used, (I needed to use a few and couldn't find any). I was told yes, that they were all used. None were. NONE. Not one of the bubble wrap pouches were used to pack my dishes and glassware. They were supposed to be used specifically for glasses and plates and I found they had been simply thrown into other random boxes in such a way that they were useless to protect what they were put in with.
- Plates were not packed vertically and glasses and stemware were packed horizontally. It's a wonder they made it at all.
- None of the dishes were packed together in the same box. They were all packed separately and sporadically in with other items.
- I have a set of 24 glasses, 12 tall and 12 juice glasses. I found some of them in one box, some in another and yet more in another box marked "kitchen foods" yet there was no food in that box. They were in boxes that were either incorrectly marked or not at all.
- Cleaning supplies such as an unsealed can of Raid was packed with food! Rat poison was also packed in a box with items it never should have been packed with. Fortunately, it wasn't anything that needed to be saved.
- Food was not packed together. I found an open box of rice placed upside down in with my microwave. I had packing box full of rice. It's hard to say if any rice got into my microwave.
- Foods like the rice and hot cereal were not sealed properly so when I took them out of the box, it spilled everywhere, such as the microwave.
- Some boxes were filled and taped upside down so when the boxes were placed upright, liquids leaked. Liquids should have been shrink wrapped and/or taped to prevent leaking.
- Nothing was marked fragile that should have been such as the stemware.
- None of my pots and pans were wrapped so one of my small frying pans got chipped.
- Bedroom and glass living room lamps were packed at the bottom of boxes, not wrapped in anything to protect them with other non-lightweight items thrown on top, like an iron! It's astounding they weren't broken. Especially given the fact that the boxes weren't marked fragile; they weren't even marked at all.
- Coffee pots were not wrapped, it's a miracle they weren't broken.
- Brackets for the entertainment unit shelves were in a box marked "master" and not taped together or even placed in a Ziplock baggie that should have been taped to the unit as opposed to being thrown in a random box.
- Screws for the TV mounts were thrown into random boxes instead of being kept taped together with the mounts. They were wadded up in packing paper in a box marked "tools", I believe. They would have been thrown away if not for the word "tornillos" on it. I had to ask one of the movers what that meant. It's Spanish for screws. Ugh...
- None of my curtain rods and brackets were kept together. I found one of the brackets to my blackout curtain rod in one box and another in a different box. Who does that?
- My curtains were wadded up and shoved in a box and, for some bizarre reason, they smell like pee. I had to wash all of them.
- My throw rugs were rolled up, folded over, shoved and wadded into boxes with other items. Several of my smaller ones are now wrinkled and a mess. They are useless to me until they flatten out. Rugs should be rolled and shrink wrap/taped up and not placed in any boxes.
- The legs to our bed were packed in a box marked "master" instead of being kept together with the rest of the bed frame. So, the movers weren't able to put our bed together the day we moved in. It took a week before we were able to get help to put it back together and we had to sleep with the mattress on the floor. Not cool.
- My husband had to buy another electric razor because he could not find the cord for the base in order to clean and recharge it.
- All of the wardrobe boxes I packed were completely destroyed. All of our clothes were in a heap at the bottom of boxes that were crushed and smashed. I had to replace at least 2 dozen hangers because of that.
- My 2 coffee tables were scratched and gouged. It's going to take a lot of time and elbow grease to get them back to how they're supposed to look. One wasn't even wrapped in a blanket. It was sitting on its side on top of a box when we opened the storage unit door.
- Our vacuum was shoved between two shelves of a metal storage shelf and something heavy had been placed on top of the top shelf because the shelf slipped down, and the vacuum was stuck, and we had a difficult time trying to get it out.
The biggest lesson learned from this experience, **closely supervise the movers and packers** so that you will know what is being done with your belongings.I do not recommend North American Van Lines.

I was assured our furniture would be blanket-wrapped and our items would be go directly from the truck to the container. Truck arrived outside of the contracted delivery date. Container was unprofessionally packed (furniture and boxes mixed together). Boxes were smashed and retaped. Furniture was broken. Boxes were missing. Almost all of the furniture was damaged as it was NOT wrapped.
The claims process was terrible. I made a claim online and did not hear anything for over 6 weeks. The furniture repair person contacted me to arrange for inspection and repair. Still no word from No. American Van Lines. When I called, I was told to follow the process. I was never informed of a process or timeline. Very rude. I asked for the contact information for the person handling the claim which they refused to give me. Over a month goes by and I get an email offering $1005 settlement. Not close to the amount of damage done. No discussion, no empathy, nothing. I offered more information, they upped it by $105. There is no way to appeal as the claims are outsourced and there is no contact information for corporate. Traumatic and frustrating.

NAVL earned my business because of generally positive reviews and their initial responsiveness in making the arrangements. However, I didn't ask enough questions about how the move would be conducted. The furniture pickup from my mother’s retirement home was very smooth and on schedule. The load then moved to a regional warehouse, where it was "containerized" and handed off to a third-party shipper for interstate transport. And that's where the problem began.
The third-party shipper was opaque and apparently unaccountable to NAVL. One day prior to the closing of the guaranteed delivery window, no one in the originating warehouse could tell me where the load actually was at the moment. I eventually found a contact in the destination warehouse who located the load but also informed me that no one had coordinated with them about receiving the load and delivering the furniture to an apartment 70 miles away. When the load finally arrived at the destination warehouse five days after the close of the guaranteed delivery window, the dispatcher informed me that it would take at least another three and half weeks for them to deliver the furniture to my mother’s apartment.
The situation was untenable. My elderly mother had already been living out of her suitcase for a week longer than expected, and now it would take at least an additional three and a half weeks, and with no real guarantee of a delivery date. The dispatcher and I agreed that I would need to rent a truck and hire a crew to complete the move in any reasonable timeframe, which is exactly what I did. This obviously involved considerable effort and expense, so NAVL sent me their Delay Claim Form to itemize my expenses and request compensation. Their handling of the claim form is at the heart of my complaint.
Claim form processing is handled by a different department than I had dealt with previously. I had filled out the claim form in great detail and included receipts but was initially unable to get any status about my form submission. Finally, a customer support person from elsewhere in the company was able to get a response, which was in the form of a terse email informing me that they would send a check for only the delay penalty of $75/day, an amount made considerably smaller by the fact that I completed the move myself. But what about the other expenses on the form? No one ever replied to my email.
The same customer support person from elsewhere in the company told me how to contact a human in the claims department. The first person I talked with explained that NAVL only compensates for the daily delay, as specified in the contract. I pointed out that my contract contains no such limitation on their liability, at which point she suggested I talk with her manager. I left a couple of polite voicemails with the manager, and after a couple of days I called back to talk to a human.
This time I got a more knowledgeable person, who informed me that the limitation on their liability is actually spelled out in the Terms and Conditions referenced by the contract. But he could not cite any specific language or even tell me where the T&Cs were located. After more consultation with customer support, I carefully read through the T&Cs and verified that there is no language that limits their liability to the daily delay penalty. In fact, the Delay Claim Form is designed to itemize expenses.
At this point, NAVL has issued a check for less than 20% of what they owe me. I have disputed my payment to them via my credit card company, and have also filed complaints with the BB and the FMCSA (federal agency that regulates movers). If none of this works, I will consider small claims court. NAVL is a big company and is skilled at wearing down consumers by stonewalling. This is my first experience with an interstate move, so I don’t really know if any other company is better.

At the delivery location, that crew stated the equipment should have been disassembled and couldn’t move multiple items down one flight of stairs. North American has been unresponsive and can’t explain why their own movers have told me that the pickup wasn’t managed properly. Customer service is a disservice. They’ll tell you that they need to do research and will call back but never do. Now, I’m stuck with items which are still wrapped, and North American is enjoying payment for their partial work. This is by far the worst experience I’ve had dealing with a company. I work in a career driven by customer service and my experience couldn't be much worse. North American Van Lines gave me 3 days on the weekend in which they would deliver my small shipment from relocating from Ohio to Florida. They picked my shipment up a week prior to this date which would allow them more than enough time to make the timeline of 7/17-7/20. After multiple attempts of trying to track down my shipment and being already delayed a whole day in which I had to stay in a hotel for the days prior seeing as they gave me 3 days to deliver (which they didn't). They now want to give me 75$ for each day missed on delivery. Mind you my hotel alone was 100$.
What is the cost of inconvenience? My patience? My experience? Etc? Which regarding the $75 I was not given any copy of an agreement that states this as well. Here as I sit 7/21 with no shipment I have been told it's in Jacksonville where I called and no one there seems to know where it is. I paid $4300 for convenience (that is not what you get whatsoever). Take a Uhaul, pack your things and transport them. Because if you think for an extra 3k out of your pocket you will get convenience you are completely mistaken. I will escalate this further to more social media outlets and will continue to escalate with each party because of how mistreated I have been during this process. Be aware.

The car was off the truck with the windows open. I looked in and all around the car, everything looked good. I signed the driver left. I got in the car and it would not start of the seat would not adjust. I then realized my sandals were soaked. I called the driver back to ask what was going on, he never answered. I called North American office immediately, no one answered.
I went to open the trunk and it would not open. I look over the back seat and lifted the panel where my daughter had things stored and it was at least 2 inches of water. I am furious by this time. I called the drivers companies number. They answered and said the driver stated water poured out of the car and the windows were dogged when he picked the car up the night before. I asked why I wasn’t informed. I got the car towed to a dealership. He stated that it had to be at least 10-12” of water in the car because everything was soaked in the middle console. North American Van lines office. Joann ** stopped answering my calls, would not let me speak with a supervisor and referred me to 5 different people.

I have been meaning to write this review for almost a year. Our family of 5 hired North American Van Lines to move our household contents (family of 5) from Annapolis Valley, N.S., to London, Ontario. The employee from Burnside, N.S. who came to give us our quote, was about the only thing that went right. It all went downhill from there. With such a large move, it was stressful enough on our family. My husband and I stressed that the most important factor was a timely arrival of our belongings. We paid $5991.50, our items were paired with more than one household (some of which items mistakenly ended up at our new house in Ontario, that we were requested to drive to the local warehouse ourselves.)
Our contract stated all of our belongings would arrive between July 03, no later than July 09th. We were at our house on the 1st of July. Many items, including our dining set, children's bikes, lawn mower.... too much to list - almost an entire truck - did not arrive until the 19th. We had to pay to have our grass mowed, had nowhere to sit and eat dinner after unpacking.. The list goes on. To top things off - when we called the office, our belongings were "lost in transit." We were told this is unacceptable and were passed on through several employees via telephone.. Never really receiving any answers, everyone just pushing blame onto the next person we were blindly transferred to.
We were also promised a re-reimbursement for the inconvenience we experienced, having to pay for lawn care, our contract not being followed, and for believing half of our household was missing for almost 2 weeks. By the end of it, we were just too exhausted to even fight for the partial reimbursement we were promised. We will never use again, and highly caution anyone else who is considering.

My review starts almost 2 years after I used NAVL to move me from Florida to Las Vegas. I moved out of a 4100 sqft home & decided to put my possessions into storage until I found a house I really liked. I also paid extra for the full insurance because I had 5 TV's including 2 70 inch models, several very expensive antiques, etc. When I got to Vegas & while they were unload my things into my storage facility, I took the box with my desktop computer in it which they had packed. Took it back to where I was staying and guess what? It didn't work. I filed a claim and to make a long story short, my claim was denied. Reason? Electronics get bounced around when moving and they claim they didn't know if it worked beforehand.
Really? Then why the hell would I move a broken computer and add the weight? So I went back and forth with them and they would not lift a damn finger so I ended the fight there. Almost 2 years after the move, I finally am moving into a house and I went to my storage units and how my units were packed was criminal. Not only that but a standing light was broken and glass all over the floor. The best of all? A 55 INCH TV WAS MISSING! YES, YOU READ THAT CORRECTLY! No one has had access to my storage units and I watched every move the other movers made.
In addition, my headboard was chipped in 2 places, 1 entertainment center was chipped and there was a leg missing. Boxes were smashed from how they stacked things. Other smaller things were broken. I wouldn't have this lousy company move my worst enemy. And what was the point of having extra insurance? The real bite in the ** is there's nothing I can do about any of this and if you think for a moment NAVL will do anything. Forget it. Bunch of weasels! Almost $12000 to move plus the insurance and this is what you get. Do not hire these idiots.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! Terrible, terrible service! PRICELOCK package is a scam at best!!! We hired Lile to move our family from Vancouver, WA to Georgia. We paid a very high price tag ($27,000) and the service was the worst you can imagine! We started by not having a truck available on the days that we had spoken off when we got our quote from Renee. The packing time went from 2 days that Renee calculated to FIVE!! because they used a different crew each day of inexperience people that didn't know what they were doing, and didn't care to stick to a time schedule... and with a weekend in between.
Loading took 3 DAYS instead of 1 like they said having to sleep on the couch the second night and at a friends house the last night because they had packed my bed and couch before they realized they had run out of space in the truck and we had to wait for yet another day for a different truck and making me almost miss my flight to Georgia. My stuff arrived to destination 5 days later which would've been great if they would've bother to coordinate with the crew in Atlanta, but they didn't have a crew available so we had to spend a whole week in hotels (not just me this time but with my husband and three children that had driven here) while my stuff sat in a warehouse.
When they unloaded things started to come out damaged, broken, with no stickers so it was impossible to know at the end of a very long day if items the items in the inventory missing were really missing or not tagged and especially when we realized that they had removed items out of the truck when they realized that not everything was going to fit in the one truck but never changed their inventory!!
But the WORST was when they told us they didn't have the weight ticket that shows how much the truck weighed once loaded with our stuff. We contracted the package called PRICELOCK which meant that they charge you for certain amount of pounds that they estimate as they walk around your home telling you not to worry if they go over on their estimate because if it ends up weighing less they will refund you the difference BUT if it goes over you don't have to pay any more money. Well...after a couple of weeks of waiting to see the weight ticket to settle the refund, they informed us that THEY NEVER WEIGHED THE TRUCK. I mean they drove across the USA but not once weighed the truck?? So they have to reconstruct the weight (based on a screwed up inventory remember?) and they would let us know.
After several weeks I got an email stating that North American corporate office had come up with a magic number right around my estimated weight and when I asked to see how they had come up with that number they very rudely declined and told me they didn't have to. All I could do was to take their word that that is how much my load weighed. No questions asked!!! I tried to call anyone that I could think of, leaving messages and getting NO ANSWERS from Lile or North American. After paying more than $27,000 I feel almost scammed, as I paid a lot of money for terrible service, unprofessional and uncaring service and for a fee that they have failed to prove was due to them. Learn from my mistake! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

Had a terrible experience at every turn with North American Van Lines. Don’t let them lead you to believe you should pay more because they are a “nationwide company” and that they “only use certified crews”. We paid more than some of the other companies' quotes to get “certified” and trust me, it was not the case. Neighbors Moving company from Seattle, WA handled the “estimate” which was several thousand pounds off. If you read carefully, if they are over on the estimate and it weighs less, you get a whole dollar per 100 lbs they are off! So if they overestimate (and you pay in advance based on the estimate) by 1000 lbs, you get a whole $10. Read the fine print at the bottom of the “not to exceed” estimate.
On packing day which we had said we didn’t need a lot of help with, they waste a whole day by sending a crew of 3 out to pack a few pictures, lamps and a mirror, which they grossly underfill some of which end up breaking during the transport. Then on moving day your “certified” crew arrives different from the packers and which apparently involves calling an extra person the morning of, who none of the others had met. This “certified individual” then shows up and proceeds to play and joke around, extending the move for several more hours than it should have taken.
The driver (who doesn’t work for Neighbors Moving or AVL) feels the estimate is way under at 7k lbs, thinks it's more like 10-12k, and files a protest. They then wait and do no loading work until 45 minutes are up to give the company time to get there to argue, they never show, so they load and tell me “someone will be responsible” if the weight is over the estimate. The crew then proceeds to make a “slide” out of our dish pack (Fragile this side up) boxes with the lamps, dishes, etc DOWN THE STAIRS, then SLIDE the remainder of the boxes down the boxes, bumping and tumbling along the way. I have pictures to document this. They turned our set of expensive dishes in a obvious UHAUL Dish pack box on its side and treated our stuff like garbage most of the day. The driver disassembled much more than I thought was necessary including our bicycles, a shoe rack and other small items.
Once they left, the final weight ended up around 8500 lbs. I firmly told the company that I was not going to pay anything above their “not to exceed estimate”, and paid by credit card in case there was a problem. Upon arrival, (2 days earlier than the estimate because of cancellations with bad weather which was nice) another local crew was hired to unload. They did a great job unloading and handled our things with care. The driver put our things back together in a somewhat haphazard fashion and I even had to insist several times when he had assembled a shoe rack incorrectly, he seemed annoyed that I wanted it done correctly and also wanted to not assemble other things he had taken apart. They refused to reassemble a bed that I had taken apart myself prior to their arrival because they had not taken it apart. You’re welcome apparently.
I was instructed to note damaged boxes or items on the checklist as they arrived and I noted several things that were damaged, including the leg to a nightstand broken off, another shoe rack that was broken, a wooden (particle board) file cabinet that was completely destroyed when it was lifted completely full onto a loaders back in WA, a blender, several glass pieces and dishes that were part of the “slide” and several pictures that were packed by the company in WA.
After this horrible experience overall, I was surprised to get a call from the driver a week or so after I left a review in an email at the company’s request. He was upset about the negative review and how it would affect him and was rather confrontational and unprofessional. I told him he was ultimately responsible for any actions of his crew which he blamed and said he never saw the slide, which means he was not supervising adequately.
I filed a damage report and let me tell you, DON’T BOTHER. Opt out of the insurance. If the truck caught on fire they would probably say that it was your fault and they don’t cover PBO. Read the fine print, if you pack anything it's “PBO” and “we don’t cover PBO”. Actually that is nowhere in the fine print I could find, they just tell you that afterwards. Even the items damaged that were packed by the company, because we didn’t note the boxes were damaged on the inventory and they weren’t just the items inside (you could hear the glass broken in the box) when they were unloaded they wouldn’t cover that, so despite having a 0 deductible they covered NOTHING that was damaged/broken by their negligence and denied the whole claim.
In the end we spent almost 12k to have our things mishandled, broken and be harassed by a contractor, who didn’t supervise the other contractors who treated our things like garbage. Don’t be fooled, the only thing “official” about American Van Lines is the sticker on the side of the truck. Avoid them at all costs, next time we are hiring our own local crew and loading a POD. Half the cost and none of the headaches.

Out of the 100 wine boxes I packed I have only found 29 that were put inside huge boxes. So what happened to the other 79 wine boxes? I did not request that they rummage and tear up my boxes just to put them in giant boxes – this is not what I signed up or agreed to. The sales rep said that by me packing my own stuff I would save me packing charge money. Many of the boxes were upside down and when I opened them to unpack there was a huge mess even though I had labels right side up. Many of the ½ wardrobe sized boxes only had a couple of small items that I had originally packed in wine boxes to keep similar things and colors together.
Fuller ripped everything apart and used extra large boxes that cost me an extra $1,176.25, a total of $15,561. My grandmother’s art deco marble topped cabinet from the 1920s. There was a lot of family history to this furniture. It is 1.5” thick by 5x3 ft beveled edge marble cabinet and the cabinet doors are now scratched from Fuller movers. I paid $500 to have this piece crated, they didn't do it. So many things were smashed in their boxes, don't ever use this company.

I did a search online for movers and arranged one. North American Van Lines called several times and I ignored it. After getting woken up at 6am by them 2 days in a row, I answered an afternoon call and asked to be removed from the list. 2 days and 6 calls later later I have blocked their number.

The move was not the way the driver painted it. It took two trucks, $22,000 later. They separated a special RH table at a central location. When the second truck arrived. The crated marble was there and not table base. Lost the base to a $5000 RH table and they denied the claim saying that there was no proof of delivery. Worst company ever. Would not use them. Going to the Media.

When North American arrived at our place in Ft Mill SC the only person to unpack the truck was the driver. There were four pages of items that I had to sign off on but he only gave us 3 sheets. Missing one whole page! There were broken items that I took pictures of. There were missing parts of furniture and many boxes were unnumbered so we did not know what was missing, He told me the numbers had been lost along the way. The one thing that happened was I had many antique items that were in my family from Denmark. Everyone one them are gone and they cannot tell me what happened to them. I am talking thousands of dollars but they were also done by my mother's grand aunt who designed for the King and Queen of Denmark. These articles and designs were very valuable.
The day the driver arrived he wanted me to sign the papers that everything was here. I refused and he grabbed the papers and put my initials on the paper! Now they tell me I cannot prove that I did not have things as my initials are on the paper! We lost so many items and I do not know what was on that fourth sheet. They told me I should have called the day it happened but it was a Sunday and no one would have answered. This is wrong! I am really upset about losing the Danish items. There were my heritage. They did not care and would not back up what I said. Do not use them! cannot believe a company would behave in this manner. How can they lose items like that. I believe they were stolen!

Absolutely terrible experience, and company. My first time moving cross country, and the whole experience was terrible. At first, Mike the sales guy seemed knowledgeable, and was great. Gave me a lot of options, and finally we moved forward. I decided to move most of my stuff myself, and then have them pack, and move the rest. I moved most of my belonging myself to Colorado. The day the movers reached my house in MN, they were not aware they were supposed to pack everything up. They didn't have boxes, they weren't prepared. They called me in CO as if I could do anything about it, but were fairly accommodating so I thought.
When everything arrived in CO, they unloaded into a storage unit. Which was on all of my documentation, I specifically called to ask if I needed to open the boxes, or do anything special for claims, as I was worried about broken things. They assured me, on the phone, as I was unloading into a storage unit that I had 9 months to file claims. I specifically asked if I needed to open boxes, or claim at the time of drop off, and if I needed to do it while the movers were there. They said no, I had 9 months to claim, and just to keep the pink copy, and write damaged items on that, and submit claim within 9 months.
Over the next couple months, I sorted through everything. Broken bed, Broken dresser. 2 broken guitars that were NOT EVEN BOXED UP! Just thrown in! When I went to claim, I was told none of my claims would be covered as it's not their responsibility after it's dropped off in a storage unit because it could get damaged in storage afterwards. I explained to them, and showed them email interactions that proved that I specifically asked about these things, and they didn't care.
I asked them what I was supposed to do, as going through every single item while the drivers were there would take days... the response I continued to get was "Read your contract". Then... I also asked, "Ok, what if you dropped everything off at my house, could it also get damaged there?" They said, "Yes, so you have to file your claims at the time of drop off". Then I asked... "Well, then when exactly does your 9 month claim policy work? Because there isn't a single scenario where you can claim any other time besides at the time of delivery." "Read your contract".
So, word of warning.... nothing can be claimed unless it is photographed, and claimed at the moment of delivery. So... be sure to make the drivers stay as long as you need to look through every single box, and examine every single item you have. Even if it takes weeks, apparently that is the ONLY way you're going to receive anything on a claim. Beware, they will lie, and tell you it's fine, you can claim in 9 months, fill out pink sheet, etc. It's all a lie. Read the contract, do not allow them to leave until you've gone through everything. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible.

The moving company was decent except for the fact that they refused to take off a door so my couch would fit through the opening. Instead, they suggested I cut the couch (no kidding) with a saw and then have a furniture repair company put it back together.

Do not ever use this line. It is a scam! It may be veteran owned, but certainly few if any veterans helped me move. The crew was okay. The supervisors were beyond horrible. The salesman estimated my move to be 3200 hundred. On the day of my move in September 2019, the crew supervisor wanted 7000 to 8000 for the move numerous times through out the day. The price difference is night and day. The attitude is basically, “I cannot move you unless you agree to 8 hours of overtime at 500 dollars an hour on top of estimated price." They took a 2 hour lunch. I hope one day this memory will be forgotten. I WOULD NOT WISH THIS ON MY WORST ENEMY.

My move was from Kansas to Fort Myers, FL. Worst experience I ever had using North American Movers. If I could post negative numbers, I would do it. DO NOT use this company. Their customer service is unacceptable, they do not deliver when they say they will. My furniture and boxes sat in a warehouse because they could not find a driver to take the load. They showed up at my new place and none of the backs to my La-z-boy furniture was included. Took another week to get them at the new place. Delay form is a joke! They do not care except to take your money before the move. Advice: Hire a team to pack your truck, drive or hire them to drive the truck and hire a team at your destination to unpack. A LOT cheaper and A LOT less stress having to deal with them!!! Do not make my mistake! Never again!!

I can’t tell you how disappointed I was with North American. I used them several times while I was in the military and they were great, but as a private citizen, it was a horrible experience. I guess the leverage of the larger contract makes a difference. The packers showed up with 2 people instead of 4 so it took 4 days to load the house instead of the scheduled 1 or 2.
The truck arrived without enough space because they underestimated my household goods. I had the option of living in an empty house for 6 weeks and miss work or sign a blank inventory sheet after going step by step and agreeing on what needed to be packed. Of course, items behind so I had to wait an additional two months to get the second shipment, only to find they didn’t pack everything AGAIN. So now, they tell me there’s nothing they can do, I just lose what they didn’t pack. They left the house full of trash, boxes etc. The answer from customer service is “I understand where your point, get a lawyer if you want.” This is the first negative comment I have ever made online against any company…I’m going to place this in as many places as I can…completely unacceptable and devoid of any integrity.

My move was from Pittsfield, MA to Indiana, approx 12 hour trip, scheduled by All-Ways moving. Items were picked up July 24 by Sterling movers. The movers arrived, packed the items, and were very careful, not to damage anything. They said they were not old enough to complete the trip, so they were taking my contents to their warehouse in RI. Three weeks later my contents arrived in Indiana. It had been with North American Moving, University Movers, Sterling Movers, and possibly more. The delivery crew was horrible, more like junk haulers than movers. The woman advised us not to unpack my grandfather clocks, but we unpacked them, in front of the movers. My grandfather clock was completely destroyed, and shipped upside down.
The woman told me I needed to sign something. I told her I needed my glasses. She told me I didn't, that it only said they dropped off my stuff. After that they took off fast. We looked in the driveway and they were gone. They had brought my two grandfather clocks in the house and two couches, everything else was left in the driveway, with packing still on. My leather couch was torn and punctured, a leather bar stool was torn, and a sleigh bed had a crack in it. They had already charged my charge card before I received anything, and charged an additional charge saying the weight was over what they had estimated. Now, they are silent. No explanations, no answers, nothing.

The absolute worst!!! Some guy was supposed to come out and give me an estimate, a contracted employee with North American Van Lines. I try to explain that I am moving a limited amount of stuff and I don't need a (3) three hour presentation. I just need him to look at my stuff and give me a quote. But he insists on giving me the whole story, from soup to nuts. I again explain my situation, that I know about the company and just need estimate of moving my goods. He gets angry and hangs up on me. This company sucks and should be avoided at all costs!!!!

Beware if you think you are hiring North American Van Lines. We hired them to move from NV to Wy for a little less than $13,000. The salesman came to our house twice and we told him there was also a 13x10 storage unit that was full and he should probably see it. He declined both times. We told him that on the last cross-country move we completely filled a 52' trailer. His response was that drivers do not like less the full loads. On moving day the truck pulled up already half loaded. Needless to say, all of our things would not fit on to the truck. They had to come back the next morning with a smaller truck causing our departure for WY to be delayed 4 hrs.
The driver's plan was to unload both big and small truck and re-load big truck with our stuff so we would get it all at once, but COMPANY would not let him. Needless to say, here we are 8 days later after initial delivery and still do not have rest of our things. At no time did anyone from company reach out to us with any update let alone an apology. The driver did keep in touch with us as to his arrival. When I called today to find out status, was told a driver would pick up in Las Vegas tomorrow but was not given an actual delivery date. She suggested I call North American Van Lines Customer Service. I did that and was told they were unaware of any problem with the move, no one had contacted them about any issue but did apologize and then said, in essence, they had nothing to do with it as they contracted out to Capitol. Terrible service all the way around.
